We went for a brunch. The place was very cosy both inside and outside. However, my girlfriend and I were truly disappointed with the service attitude. My girlfriend wanted to order a breakfast menu which included a natural juice. She asked if she could mix two fruits for the juice and said that she would even pay the price difference. Ten service however was extremely inflexible and ruled out such possibility. Zero customer-centric! Moreover, service brought a fried egg instead of a scrambled one. The fried eggs were initially too soft (a significant part of the eggwhite was still liquid). Also as I was about to finish with one of my plates the waitress asked if she could remove the plate; yet, before having answered that I wasn’t done yet she removed it. Food-wise it was good. The waffles were excellent, so were the juices. The avocado toasts were extremely difficult to eat and overall a bit bland in terms of flavour. The coffee was good.

It’s one of my go-to spots! The food is super tasty, always feels fresh, and I love that there are tons of vegetarian and vegan options. The staff is really friendly, which adds to the chill vibe. Service is usually quick, especially after the breakfast rush. It can get a little slow in the morning just because it gets packed. I really like sitting outside at the round tables when the weather’s nice. It’s relaxed and casual, and great for hanging out. Inside is nice too if you want something quieter. They’ve got lots of juices! For soda lovers, being your own coca-cola: they don’t serve soda. Parking can be hit or miss depending on the time, so I usually just Uber there to keep it simple.

Expectations were kind of high of this one and not fullfilled unfortunately. Recommended to have great coffee and great ambient, I was expecting speciality level - what I found was a decent bakery with some coffee options. To be fair, the bread really was good and the bowls around us looked great, too. Minus one star due to quite basic coffee. Ambient is nice next to the gardens, especially with their Veranda. Service was great.

We sat at one of the tables outside and were offered a QR code to see the menu in English. This place didn’t just do baked goods, it also offered a wide range of breakfast items and sandwiches. We stuck to ordering some cakes. Unfortunately the one I really wanted to try which was Apple, Walnut and Cinnamon was only available as a large cake. I had to change to something else and chose Orange and Almond cake. Something got lost in translation as I ended up with an Almond Croissant. I just went with it and it was nice. My husband ordered an apple tart and crostine. The crostine was twisted delicate filo pastry integrated with little bursts of chocolate. It was a much lighter alternative to a pain au chocolate. The apple tart was simply delightful. The firm yet soft slices apple sat in a perfect sticky glacé on a bed of solid yet almost biscuity base. It teamed well with the coffee he had ordered. Along with this I chose a Pink Lemonade. This was like having a fruity mojito without the alcohol. There were full pieces of raspberry and blackberry in it.

we had an outstanding experience... one in a million. we visited on Sunday, May 4th (Gagacabana weekend) and thought it'd be full, but be managed to squeeze us in. the food, the presentation, the taste... everything was GNARLY. we loved how they treated us. 10/10 would recommend!

With high expectations and positive anticipation we entered the beautiful one star Michelin restaurant. First we had one drink each in the bar, made by a pleasant and professional bartender. The drinks where expensive but high quality and very good. The seating premise is nice and most materials are high end. Moving on to the food. We had the tasting menu which included around 7 dishes. I want to be clear, i have been privileged enough to have dined at multiple guide michelin restaurants around the world, ranging from 1 star up to 3 stars. It really saddens me to say, that this was by far the most underwhelming food experience. However, the staff where accommodating and kind but it did unfortunately not make up for the low level in the kitchen. On to some constructive criticism. The first dish was one of the best. The muscle was a bit to cold in the middle and the foam was tasteless. Although the star of the dish lacked a bit the rest was nice. The second dish was a joke, get rid of the salad and 4 tomatoes? Insane ratio. The sushi was OK, the tuna was very nice. The wagyu was to salty. The tartar was the best dish of the night, but! Its the safest dish. Nothing difficult about it, the product is high quality. But the chef risks nothing. Disappointed. The wine was very fine and the service on refilling was quick and elegant. The soup. Just no. So simple and it blows my mind how you thought this was a good idea. The pasta was so weird. It almost felt like we were used as someone to test strange ideas on. Its a good thing to try new things, it adds to the Guinea pigs sensation but in this case it lacked any positive lining. The mochi was sloppy. The final dessert was clean, easy and fresh. Skip the thick jelly. Try something more exotic and sensual.

On June 6, my husband and I ate at Mee the first night we stayed at the Belmond Copacabana. We ordered their Tasting Menu and were disappointed at the service and the quality of the food. The first dish was scallop, nicely presented, but not very fresh, had a fishy taste. The shiromi was the worst – I ate two pieces and left the third untouched. The third dish (zushi) was a ball of white rice wrapped in beef, tuna tartare, and eel; could have been better if the rice was soft, sticky, and seasoned like how sushi rice is supposed to be. The rice was dry and had no flavor which is shocking for a Japanese restaurant, not to mention one with a 1 Michelin star. The Trio Snack was the best among the nine dishes. The grilled wagyu beef in a skewer was flavorful, the tuna tartare was fresh, and the chicken panko was crispy and tasty. Of the last three dishes (shrimp, noodles with pork belly, and Korean bibimbap), the bibimbap was the most disappointing in taste. It was nicely presented but lacked in flavor. Of the two desserts, the mochi was OK, but the strawberry mousse was pretty good! With water and three small bottles of Sapporo, the total came to R$2.026,20 (roughly USD$363) – totally not worth it. As for service, it was quick and smooth the first half because there were only three tables with customers. As the restaurant started to fill with more people, service lagged, and there were gaps of 15 – 20 minutes between the last couple of main dishes. We had to ask the server to check on our dishes more than a couple of times. We enjoy dining at Michelin star restaurants, and unfortunately, Mee has been our worst experience. It’s hard to imagine how Mee got their one star. Perhaps their past dishes were delectable, but the Tasting Menu we tried in June was not to the standard and quality of a Michelin star restaurant.

I loved the diversity of the menu. Every dish I had was spectacular and included the Wagyu carpaccio, Wagyu dim sum, several Nigiri dishes, and the crispy duck. Best duck I've had since eating at the original roast duck restaurant in Beijing. Ambience was good and the staff was extremely friendly.

A chic interior, with two beautiful paintings on the wall like Asian murals, slightly dimmed light which is always nice for dinner, a nice bar with beautifully designed lights hanging over it. I ordered the Mee mule, a nonalcoholic drink which was great. We had the 7 course tasting meny of the chef. The kyozas and the shrimp tempura were very tasty, the sea bass sashimi was flat in the taste. The wangu dish with udon noodles was performed on the table and was also very tasty. The desert with mango, coconut, nuts , passion fruit and a great crispy biscuit was fantastic. The service was very good and the price reasonable for a one star Michelin restaurant located in the Copacabana Palace. The 1 star from ne they lost it for the soup which was nothing special and the sea bass sashimi.

So so good we visited twice! Booked it the day before via Google - you definitely need a reservation especially for a weekend as ids a popular spot. English menus helped us. Best sushi we have ever had. Couldn’t believe how cheap it was either considering the quality of the food!

When I was there they didn’t had tuna belly unfortunately so I couldn’t try but managed to try Jyo de camarao; for me it was okay but had so many flavors mixed and was bot easy to enjoy them all at the same time, Itamae gurume; basically 5 piece decided by the chef and most likely will be different for all in mine i had salmon belly it was okay but they use a lot of truffle oil and obviously they have a really good one because taste is very dominant but in personally I like my fish more fresh and fish flavor a strong truffle covers it all and it was the case in this piece, there was another piece with vieira super salty ingredient I had to take it out couldn’t manage to eat, another piece was bluefin like it very much and final one was enguia which was very pleasant. Another plate I asked was batera da de salmao; it wss quite fresh with lemon for me very good quality price plate with fresh touch. And finally nigiri’s with vieira again it was with truffle vieira itself was nice and fat but it is a personal preference that I would prefer without truffle. Overall ambient is nice and pieces are relatively big so this order can easily feed 2 people if they are not starving. Finally asked for a matcha sorbet and it was amazing to finish love the visual service and taste of it!! And little addition when I gave feedback on the salty sushi they were very understanding and received the feedback quite positively which was great to see.

I’m gonna have to go against these reviews and say that the food was really average. It looks way better than it actually tastes. It’s super creative, contemporary, and inviting inside and the dishes are more upscale but the taste just not there. The wagyu tartar was outstanding. Rolls, not so much. Popcorn shrimp really average and predictable.

We came here after loving Teva Deli and this did not disappoint. The gochujang seitan starter was so good, and everything we ate was delicious and really well thought out by the chefs. Peanut butter blondies were indulgent and perfectly paired with the ice cream. Please open one in the UK!

This is a review for the vegans or vegetarians. If possible don't eat here. There is only one vegetarian option for protein and the cost benefit for the food is too high. Their vegan burger was dry and burned. In a place like Brazil with so much good produce, I don't understand how they don't offer better vegan/vegetarian options.

One of my go-to places in Rio for a quick meal! In spite of being a chain restaurant, it isn't fast food or franchise... the management makes sure the food quality and cleanliness are impeccable. There's a wide variety of food for everyone: from red meat to vegan meals.

I got the yakisoba chicken noodles which were good and a good portion! If I were to change anything, I would have wanted more seasoning/flavor on the chicken. Prices were fine & ambience was so lovely, especially at night when we went. It is an alongside a whole street of restaurants so theee is so much activity going on, especially during futbol games.

Never have given any review ever in my life. First and last one deserves this place! Been twice now bc we wanted to give it a second chance bc it has cool art. But damn failed again. They pour enough soy sauce to kill you, all the plates are small, and the server who is always here might as well be non-existent. All the staff hates their job.

If you prefer traditional sushi this place not be for you, everybody else, give this place a try!

Unlike many restaurants in Brazil, this is a proper (vegan) buffet eat-all-you-can and for less than 50Rs (June'23). Not a wide variety on the day (I guess they change the menu), but a pleasure to eat, and it's more than enough. The service was top. I was also offered a liquid shot of different spices for better digestion. Tasted delicious. My personal favourite in town.

This place is a gem. 35R per person for all you can eat all vegan buffet. The dishes are fresh, nutritious and made with local ingredients. And so very delicious. You are also served a ginger based aperitif at the beginning which is amazing. There's fresh berry/grape juice to be refreshed by. The service is fantastic, quietly replenishing dishes and answering your questions with a smile. Loved it all!

During our visit, we opted for a selection of seafood starters and shared the lobster paella among four people. While the starters were satisfactory, the lobster paella fell short of expectations. The portion size was modest, and the dish lacked the depth of flavour we anticipated, especially considering its price point. The bathroom was an interesting experience! Given Ipanema’s vibrant culinary scene, there are other restaurants in the vicinity that offer more compelling dining experiences. While Izär provides a unique take on Spanish cuisine, it did not fully satisfy us who were seeking more creative and flavourful dishes.

Spanish cuisine isn't as prevalent in Rio as Italian, so we were intrigued. We settled into their charming terrace. The restaurant itself is small but beautiful and bright. The Food: This restaurant offers a fusion of Spanish and Brazilian cuisine. We started with the cod croquettes with béchamel sauce. The combination was rather bland, as cod is so delicate, it simply got lost in the béchamel. The staff were so kind, however, that they offered us a taste of their ibérico croquettes when they realized we weren't a fan of the cod’s ones. The ibérico croquettes were very good - more robust and flavorful, and not overwhelmed by the creamy sauce. For our mains, we enjoyed lobster with tomato paste, which was cooked to perfection. The creamy texture and the crispy crust from the grill were a wonderful combination, and the spices were perfectly balanced. The pasta side dish was also cooked beautifully. It's rare to find a lobster dish that is truly creamy, but this one really delivered. Our second main was the octopus with chorizo rice. The octopus was ideal - tender, perfectly seasoned, and with a crisp skin, it cut like butter. The chorizo rice was the perfect complement, with the right level of saltiness and the sausage itself pairing well with the octopus. The Service: The service was excellent. We had a wonderful waiter who spoke great English, helped us choose our dishes, and made us feel cared for. The dishes were prepared quickly. Overall: A fantastic Spanish restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you're in the area. We explored a lot of restaurants in Ipanema and Leblon, and this one truly stands out. The paella was excellent. The negroni is probably the best in all of Rio. Rafael was our server and was very attentive and professional. The ambiance was good but maybe a little background Spanish or Jazz lounge music would have made it perfect. Overall, a very nice dining experience.

Opening night at Izar, the same group as Mimolette and Möska. Some real superstars here and very fair prices across the board. Huevos e Jamon, the Pulpo and the “Churros” Dessert all 10/10. Some other plates needed a little more salt but by and large this is already the best tapas restaurant in the city. My husband and I came for dinner on a Monday night right as they opened for dinner. Although we made a reservation, it wasn't really necessary on a slow Monday night. Our server was very kind and helpful. We started with two of their cocktail drinks: caipirinha and triana. The drinks came out quickly and were perfect; not overly sweet and perfectly balanced. We then ordered an appetizer, the tuna crudo, and two main dishes, the fried gnocchi and the chuleton. We have no bad notes about any of the dishes, but the gnocchi was the star of the show.
