Scottsdale in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Scottsdale, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Scottsdale, Arizona, is a luxury desert oasis. Major events such as the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction and Waste Management Phoenix Open also draw people to this city.
With favorites like La Fogata, Grassroots Kitchen & Tap - Scottsdale, and The Mission Old Town, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. The Talking Stick Resort Hotel is a luxurious and contemporary resort that offers a wide range of amenities, including pools, dining options, a spa, golf facilities, a casino, and live entertainment. The Spa at the resort draws inspiration from the traditions of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and provides guests with rejuvenating body therapies, massages, and facials. Guests can indulge in unique treatments such as the Mesquite Bean Body Melt and River & Stone Birchwood Massage.
Our experience working with the event team at Talking Stick Resort for the 2025 Phoenix Regional Duplicate Bridge Tournament was outstanding from start to finish. Sheena, our account manager, was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire planning process. She answered every question with patience and clarity, and worked closely with us to make sure our contract and event details were spot-on. She even helped secure a generous spa donation for our raffle, which added a fun and memorable touch for our players. Francesca and the reservations team made coordinating hotel rooms smooth and stress-free. With a large group and plenty of last-minute changes, we were so grateful for her organization, professionalism, and flexibility. Many of our players stayed at the resort and were pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms, attentiveness of the staff, and the privacy. And during the event itself, Tim and the catering staff were exceptional. Everything ran like clockwork, and any request we had was handled quickly and with a smile. The service was top-notch, and it helped create a welcoming and well-run experience for our guests. Thanks to the entire team at Talking Stick, our event was a success in every way—and we’re already looking forward to working with them again for 2026!

We have many casinos for people living in Phoenix these days but Talking Stick is still one of my favorites! 😁 First off, real quick, as I feel this is a very important factor that isn't discussed enough, our casinos (8 in Maricopa county now I believe) are all owned and operated by beautiful Native American tribes. The casinos often display stunning pottery and artifacts from their heritage and it is SUCH a cool feature of the decor. I encourage all who visit to take a moment to appreciate and respect the historic and unique history of the land they are standing on. That being said, I was here for 3 days for my brokerage’s yearly real estate conference and the resort was just as beautiful as the first time I was there a decade ago for Phoenix Fashion Week. 🙃 The staff is helpful and pleasant, the bathrooms, public spaces, rooms and casino are clean and well cared for, and the pool area was relaxing with its beautiful mountain views. (summer pool parties here are wild and I would not use the word ‘relaxing’ for those times though LOL). I especially love the stairway to the lower level bar! I don’t really gamble so I can’t speak for the dealers or machines but it was decently busy at all times of day and night when I walked through, and consumers appeared happy and content. The location of the resort is phenomenal, too as it is located only a hop, skip, and jump away from the very best parts of Central Scottsdale. You can quickly Uber or Waymo or bring your own car, but everything is just a quick ride away. Overall I had a very enjoyable experience and would recommend staying here for anyone wanting a great, casino experience in greater Phoenix. I have a lot of homebuyers from out of state who relocate to Arizona and they often talk about how Scottsdale has been dubbed “mini las vegas”. This place certainly helps us fit that mold! 🎰

The place in itself is pretty but nothing out of this world. What makes it so special though is the service. My gosh! Everyone was so kind and nice and helpful. The people skills experienced here makes me want to come back and bring family and friends with me.

We recently celebrated our anniversary here and we had a great time. Wish we would of went home winners of course, but we had hours of entertainment and the stay was great. We had a bit of a mix up when booking a second night and they really helped us out and made the trip much better. Thank you and we will be coming back to stay again.

I reserved a dinner at Orange Sky for my wedding anniversary. The dinner experience was amazing. The entrees were fantastic. The portions were big so be conservative on the ordering. The food was so good me and the wife filled up before the main course got there and the steak was amazing. Yes this is a pricey place to eat, but what you're paying for definitely meets the expense with tip and all I put down $400 (I do not regret a single penny). The brussel sprouts dish I have been bragging about to everyone I pass. "Yes I said brussel sprouts" 5/5 stars 10/10 rating recommend for high important events in your life.
Jeff D — Google review
The hotel and casino are nice. Although, I've never been to successful as far as gambling on the slot machines. FAR, FAR too many 10 line penny/nickle machines. They need more single line pay machines at 25 cents to $5 machines. You're spending that much anyway on the current machines and winning doesn't seem to be any more successful.
Jimmie D — Google review
Staff in the casino cannot keep their heads on straight, and same with the hotel. Consistent mix-ups, constantly berating me about my ID, and not being able to accomplish the simplest of tasks (like telling people not to berate me while I'm trying to relax). Thank you for not only ruining my weekend, but wasting my money in the process. Will never be coming back again, was NOT relaxing at ALL.
Dawserdoos G — Google review
For not being Vegas, its pretty good. Easy to find, good amount of parking even on weekends, good bar and casino. Attended a concert by the pool. It was cramped and the seats were crappy. Will come back to the bar/casino but not for comcert.

Octane Raceway is a unique indoor and outdoor racing venue located in Scottsdale, Arizona. It features a 1/3-mile track that winds through the facility and outside before looping back in, offering an exhilarating racing experience. The venue operates full time and provides both competitive and casual kart racing suitable for various ages.
I surprised my boyfriend with a racing gift. He was thrilled, and we both had an absolute blast! The customer service was excellent! Sophia and Ed were especially kind and went above and beyond. The entire process is easy. Everything is really reasonably priced, the experiences are fun, and Octane offers a variety of choices inside of a comfortable and down-home kind of venue. We'll be back!

Awesome experience extremely nice and helpful staff. Nate in particular helped us over the phone and then checking us in and figuring out our ride schedule. It was awesome. Great entertainment for a seven-year-old boy!
Kate W — Google review
Really fun experience for the price!! The track is well designed and the karts have both adult and junior speeds for the whole family! Very friendly workers and an arcade for the wait time. Highly recommended
Hector Q — Google review
I surprised my husband for a date at this place and we had a fantastic time!! The go karts are super fun and go fairly fast!! Definitely get your heart pumping and your competitive streak revving!! There were a couple self absorbed jerks who take it too seriously with their racing gloves and their better than everyone attitudes. But whatever, we didn’t let it get our panties in a twist, it was still a great time! We will definitely be back!
Jessica B — Google review
Our family had an excellent time - kids had a blast racing and running from game to game. Food came out quick & was good quality. Hospitality was also excellent. Manager Brandon was great with work with and very accommodating to our large party. We’ll definitely be back when visiting the Scottsdale area.
Michelle K — Google review
We had an absolute blast at Octane in Scottsdale! Our whole management team came out for a little team bonding, and it couldn’t have been more fun. From start to finish, the energy, the staff, and the experience were top-tier. It was the perfect mix of adrenaline and laughter—definitely a memory-maker. Highly recommend for any team outing or just a fun day with friends!
Chelsea V — Google review
It was fun, however expensive. $146 for two people to have two races and one hour of ax throwing.

Octane Raceway is an absolute blast! This place is awesome. There is so much to do here - from go-kart racing, axe throwing, a virtual reality arena, an arcade, plus a full bar and kitchen as well. Seriously, something for everyone! Came here for a work event, and everyone had a great time. We played the Virtual Reality and had so much fun! If you're into zombies, you have to play Outbreak! I definitely recommend trying the VR if you've never done it before, it's intense, and so life like. Plus, you get a video of everyone running around screaming at the end to laugh at! There is truly something for everyone here at Octane Raceway! Even if you're just grabbing a drink and watching the indoor go-kart racing, this place is a ton of fun. Whether it's date night or family night, 10/10 would recommend!

Butterfly Wonderland is an indoor rainforest habitat located near an aquarium in the city. It houses thousands of beautiful butterflies, along with sections dedicated to insects, reptiles, and tropical fish. As the largest butterfly conservatory in the country, it boasts over seventy species fluttering among lush foliage and dense vegetation. The complex also includes other attractions like Odysea Aquarium and Dolphinaris for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
This was amazing. It was magical from start to finish. I would say this is probably not for babies. There seemed to be a lot there, and their conservatory is hot and humid for the best environment for the butterflies. Their reptile, amphibian, and underwater displays are just gorgeous. I do not regret going at all. It was a great afternoon well spent.

For anyone that loves butterflies and other insects, this is the place for you. An awesome video at the beginning that talks about stages of the butterfly, thought was very interesting. Once in the butterfly area, it was awesome, had a few land on me, that was cool. Go here early, when its cooler, but definitely a must see!
Jason B — Google review
Butterfly Wonderland is awesome, let me start with that before getting into the few downsides. The whole concept is brilliant and beautiful. Not only are they helping preserve butterfly species and supporting conservation efforts, but they’re also giving the public a chance to experience these incredible creatures up close. That’s amazing! My only real complaint is the price. For two people, it’s about $75 for an experience that lasts roughly an hour or two at most. It’s a bit steep, but it feels better knowing the money goes toward something meaningful rather than just another theme park. Overall, I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. Be sure to spend enough time in the sanctuary, you’ll want to slow down, take it all in, and hopefully have a few butterflies land on you!
Jaden T — Google review
You cant go wrong walking through a tropical jungle with butterflies flying all around you! It was so soothing and calming! The staff were super helpful answering all our questions and giving us directions! Be warned, it's humid so dress accordingly! You won't regret stopping here in your visit to Phoenix!

Awesome attraction especially if you have kids, my 2 small toddlers really enjoyed themselves, and it was a fun mixture of entertainment and education. Staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to share info on the butterflies. They have some small indoor exhibits with fish and reptiles as well. They also have inclusive options for children with processing difficulties or other challenges. Definitely a worthwhile place to visit when at the boardwalk
Tyler G — Google review
10/10 would recommend this place to anyone in the area! They had a short video on the monarch butterfly migration. They also have a near area where they show the life of a butterfly and the stages there before they release them with the others. There were so many and they were so gorgeous and perfect! Their snack area was clean and tidy. The staff was super friendly. There was so much to look at and I wanted to take pictures of everything. It’s def worth every penny!
JFoxBeauty — Google review
Love bringing my daughter here! We have so much fun. Beautiful butterflies and fun experience. We go first thing when they open because they get pretty busy! Worth the money in my opinion.
Kelli C — Google review
Fascinating world of butterflies. From their birth to their death, and everything in between. Neat facts to learn about migration, and other things about butterflies. 3-D movie explains it, then you can walk in a huge garden with lots of butterflies. They also have some reptiles, sea life, and bees.

Step back in time to the 11th century and experience the grandeur of Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. Located in Arizona, this castle-like space offers a unique dining experience where you can enjoy a utensil-free, four-course meal while being entertained by jousting, horsemanship, and falconry. The live-action production allows you to immerse yourself in a medieval European atmosphere as knights compete in skill, strength, and combat games while riding Andalusian stallions.
I took my husband to Medieval Times Arizona for his birthday, and we had such a fantastic time! This was truly a memorable experience from start to finish. The show was incredibly well-choreographed — full of action, excitement, and just the right amount of drama. We were especially impressed by how well the horses were cared for and how skilled the performers were. The staff was amazing — fully in character, friendly, and made the evening feel extra magical. The food came in generous portions (and so did the drinks!), which was a pleasant surprise. We left feeling full, entertained, and happy. Overall, this was a unique and fun night out that we won’t soon forget. So glad we decided to check it out — it was absolutely worth it!

This was an Amazing experience.!! My parents and I went for my birthday bc I wanted to try something new and im truly glad we went. Our server Jason was amazing.!! The show was really good. The staff and performers were great.!! Def a must experience to check out.

As a family who went in with no expectations and only a word of mouth review, this experience was ASTOUNDING. The food was delicious, the seats were stupendous, the souvenirs, the drinks, and the costumes were outstanding, and the best part was definitely the people. Our waitress Rylee was by far the highlight of the experience! She was extremely kind, kept us well fed, was immersed in her role and was just a genuinely incredible person! Two other notable people of the show were the Red and Blue knights! They were so sweet and chatted with us a bit after the show! Overall, this experience was by far the most amazing show we have ever gotten to experience! We will definitely be back!
Anna K — Google review
This is definitely something everyone should do at least once! There is a lot to look at and a lot to do before the show starts I loved the food was amazing and they had a lot of people coming around selling different items throughout the game! Justin was our server and he had such a great spirit! I don't think this place takes cash so just bring your card. It was such a great time by the end of the night weve already talked about doing it again soon! The meal I believe was worth the price!
Alyssa S — Google review
Spent about $200 for two of us. The food was cold and mediocre at best. The King and queen must've had their lips directly on the microphone as it was very hard to hear them. The horses and the tournament were fun to watch. Drinks were good but weak considering what we paid for them. The service was good. It was 1 server for the whole section. So the food was lukewarm when delivered. Overall, the experience was just ok. Ill wait for the Renaissance fair to come back.
Charlotte S — Google review
So much fun. We went to the educational show with our homeschool group and got a lower rate. I would definitely recommend that as it costs a pretty penny. It does feel worth it at that price however at full price I don't think so. The kids really enjoyed it and I thought the food was pretty good, well seasoned and hot meal of chicken, potato, and corn. The bread was like a Texas toast but while we thought there was a GF option, the GF people just didn't get bread at all. Then there was a packages cookie for dessert GF people got Italian ice. Overall great show and fun experience. Memories made!
Regina A — Google review
Absolutely outstanding experience. The service, the food, the fun, all top notch. Great fun for the whole family. Good beer with cheap refills. One of the folks in my party had the vegetarian meal and loved it. Its definitely worth every penny!

Had such amazing pizza and wings we ate it all before I got a chance to take a picture. Figured the best review I could leave was showing that we ate every bit! Great crust, plenty of cheese. Two of my kids are gluten free and they said that this was the best gluten free pizza they’ve ever had. Wings were tasty, well sauced, and delicious. Absolutely recommend!

We ordered a pizza, garlic bread, and a side salad for dine in. We got the salad pretty quick. Our friends got their vegan pizza, then we got our garlic bread. Waited a bit. I checked on our pizza. They said they got backed up and it'd be right out. We saw a couple other tables get their food, all of which arrived after us. We were all done and decided to just ask for it to go. When we when up to ask about that, they had no idea what we were talking about! They 100% gave us someone else's to go order. What on earth.

Barros is awesome. It has a bit of an old school family vibe, to me any way. This is the families favorite pizza place. It has plenty of room, a very open layout and good privacy with all the booths. We always have a good time here. The kids leave happy and full and you can't ask for much more. Love this place! Thanks guys!

My husband and I live in SD and are visiting Scottsdale. We asked three different people where to go for pizza, and all three people recommended Barros. This was not by chance. Barros pizza is amazing. I very rarely order pizza, and when I do, I'm a bit of a pizza snob. This pizza is top notch, from the cheese to the crust. My husband also got the wings and said they were delicious. We' d highly recommend for anyone looking to eat great pizza (and wings)!

Phenomenal pizza! Very friendly staff! Extra large thick crust pepperoni is to die for! Fed a family of four and still had a slice left! Sauce is absolutely perfert with a slight kick yet not spicy and definitely not sweet! 18 bucks and one satisfied family! Will be getting another extra large pizza before we grab our flight home! I couldn't recommend this establishment enough!

Look I very rarely post negative reviews. Because I understand things happen and mistakes happen However. This requires a post. 1 service after experience was great. Management stepped up and handled it professionally. However, when Wings are delivered to the table and both baskets were frozen there’s a problem. When approached the staff the young lady was very rude and acted as if it wasn’t an issue. With an attitude and disrespect. This wasn’t the first time she was rude or disrespectful due to a previous experience. However, pizza was amazing when delivered and we paid the full bill. Managers, please take note that rude service doesn’t help a business in anyway!
Loren C — Google review
I don't know how they do it, but always have great people on the other side of the counter. Laid back, workers like me spread around the tables. Service is simple and effective. Order, get service and get your spot. Leave your plate, there are no trash cans to take anything to. Would suggest tipping ahead for that. But .... they dont ask you to tip when you pay. Bring a few dollars on paper. They deserve it.

Grassroots Kitchen & Tap in Scottsdale is a laid-back café that emphasizes local wines, craft beers, and thoughtfully sourced offerings. The menu features starters like braised pork belly with jalapeno cheddar grits and ahi tuna poke with shrimp and avocado. For the main course, you can enjoy options such as Tophers braised short ribs, southern shrimp and grits, or slow-smoked Carolina baby back ribs.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Grassroots kitchen and tap a fantastic family-friendly spot that truly exceeded our expectations. Grass Roots – 2nd Visit This Week! Came back to Grass Roots for the second time this week- I'm sucker for any restaurant over a 4.5 on Maps. The menu delivers comfort food with a fresh, creative twist that keeps things interesting without trying too hard. We dined in, and while the food hit the spot, the temperature inside was a bit of a challenge. It was 81 degrees indoors, the patio doors where finally shut because it was already 88 outside—at 11am. It's definitely something to consider on warm days. Now, onto the good stuff: The Blackened Ahi Tuna Salad was beautifully done—fresh greens, well-seasoned tuna, and just the right balance of bold flavor and lightness. Loved the dressing! $28 The Farmer’s Vegetable Chopped Salad with blackened shrimp was hearty but not heavy, with perfectly cooked shrimp and a great mix of textures. Dressing is on the creamier side rather that a light vinaigrette. $28 The Green Chili Stew was rich, cozy, and full of flavor—definitely a highlight if you're craving something warm and comforting. BUT we each had two bites and could not finish due to the temperature inside the restaurant. $9 The service was great!
Kristen S — Google review
The restaurant's upscale prices and ambiance did not quite match the quality of the food. While the ribs were a large portion, the meat was not particularly tender. The sauce was delicious, but overall, the food was only satisfactory. At that price point, one would expect a higher standard of quality. The pork belly appetizer, however, was excellent and highly recommended. The bread service was unusual; a large sourdough loaf, cut into four thick slices, with very hard crusts.

Yum, yum, yum! Excellent BBQ with Carolina sauce! Those jalapeño cheddar grits and pork belly baked beans were FIRE!!!! Short Rib was fork tender and so flavorful. Ribs were melt in your mouth and the brisket was excellent! Service was on point up to and including the manager and the ambiance was fun and low key! Highly, highly recommend this place 👍👍

I visited Grassroots Kitchen tonight for my birthday dinner, and while I would love to give this restaurant a glowing review based on the food and our server alone, the way our evening ended was unacceptable and completely overshadowed what should have been a special experience. To start: the food was genuinely very good, and our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, the management’s handling of our table turned the night sour. Midway through my birthday dessert—literally halfway through the plate—we were approached and told we needed to get up because a reservation for our table was arriving in five minutes. My wife hadn’t even finished her drink. We had been seated for less than an hour, with no indication whatsoever that our table had a pending reservation or that our dining time would be cut short. There was no advance notice, no courtesy warning, and no tact. We had even informed the hostess ahead of time that we were fine sitting wherever, open bar included. They proceeded to sit us at this table. Instead, it felt like we were being rushed out the door to make room for the next party. For a restaurant that appears to pride itself on atmosphere and hospitality, this was a surprisingly unprofessional and dismissive move. I cannot in good faith recommend Grassroots Kitchen to anyone looking to relax, celebrate, or simply enjoy a full meal without being hurried out. The quality of the food and the kindness of our server were simply not enough to outweigh the discomfort and disrespect of being essentially pushed out in the middle of dessert on a special occasion. Until management reconsiders how they handle reservations and table turnover, this is not the place to go for a celebration—or for any dining experience where you expect to enjoy your meal at a normal pace.

Grassroots is one of our top spots, and their Friday Omega Burger special is unbeatable smoked salmon, arugula and homemade aioli on fresh bread. My wife swears by the Sea Smoke salad with salmon, orzo, veggies and green goddess dressing. The food, service and attention to detail always make every visit a great experience.

Southwestern restaurant (US)
La Fogata is a Southwestern restaurant located at The Scottsdale Resort, featuring sophisticated decor inspired by hacienda style. Guests have praised the attentive and friendly service, as well as the delicious food that exceeded expectations. The atmosphere is highly recommended for a great date night experience. Visitors have highlighted the excellent customer service received from staff members, making their dining experience enjoyable and memorable. The ambience and food quality are superb, but it's the impeccable service that truly leaves a lasting impression on diners.
We just experienced a wonderful night! We did the ‘around the world’ chefs dinner and everything was perfect! From the decor to the food to the service…no detail was untouched. We loved all the different flavors and every dish was so unique. Will definitely be back!

I had the most wonderful solo dinner experience thanks to Gina during my stay at The Scottsdale Resort and Spa by Hilton Curio. From start to finish, her service was truly exceptional—attentive, thoughtful, and engaging. She made me feel genuinely special, offering perfect wine recommendations and even garnishing my glass with a strawberry carved into a beautiful flower. As if that weren’t enough, I enjoyed it all while watching a spectacular sunset. Every detail elevated the evening. It was a 10/10 experience, and I can’t thank Gina enough for making it so memorable!

been waiting to finally make it out here, we had very high hopes with this place but were left feeling confused and underwhelmed. we came on a wednesday night, the place maybe had 3 other couples max. we were sat by 7:50pm and didn’t receive our appetizer until 8:35…. followed by the main course by 9:10pm. for the amount of people inside, i’ve never had such slow service. the waitress was nice, atmosphere is good, but it couldn’t make up for the lack of urgency considering how expensive the dishes were. we drove pretty far to find this place so it’s very confusing on what happened tonight.

Ate here a couple of times during my stay, and while I enjoyed the food, the service was quite inconsistent. On the first night, we ate a pepperoni pizza and it was great. It was very crispy and flavorful without being oily. The waiter we had was also very attentive. On the 2nd night, we went for the wagyu short ribs. We'd never had wagyu before, but I would definitely order it again because it was really tasty and tender. I would return to the hotel for the wagyu alone. What let them down on the 2nd night was the service. We had a waitress this time, and she would only speak to my husband, and she barely acknowledged me. I asked her about the sides that came with the dish, and she gave me a dismissive answer (that turned out to be wrong). We asked for a chocolate mouse dessert, she brought the wrong one in a box and dumped it on the table saying "They put it in a to-go box, sorry"'. She handed my husband the bill with the biggest smile on her face, but it's actually me who paid for dinner. I normally don't make a fuss with service because everybody has a bad day, etc. but something about it felt personal to me.

The chilaquiles and French toast were both amazing!! Lynnae was our server and she was so attentive and kind. 10/10! Thanks La Fogata!

Awesome outdoor seating, watch out for the birds tho. Restaurant quality and it won't disappoint you. The price is reasonable as well. Even if you don't stay at the resort, you should definitely try the brunch here.

I had the pleasure of attending La Fogata’s Alpine Indulgence Chef-themed dinner, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The food was good, with beautifully plated presentations that added an elegant touch to the evening. The drinks were creative, refreshing, and perfectly paired with the atmosphere. What stood out the most, though, was the incredible staff—they were warm, attentive, and so genuinely kind. It’s rare to find a place in Scottsdale where the people make you feel so welcomed. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with great food, thoughtful drinks, and impeccable service, La Fogata is an absolute hidden gem.

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Phoenix Zoo, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Papago Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
The Phoenix Zoo covers 125 acres and offers a variety of animal exhibits, including a children's area and petting zoo. Visitors can also enjoy a narrated tram ride around the zoo. One of the most anticipated events at the Phoenix Zoo is Zoo Lights, where millions of lights are strung on trees and displayed as animal shapes along pathways.
Wonderful zoo! Not too large so that you can walk the whole zoo of you want to get the full view of you don't spend too much time at one exhibit. Lots of shade along the way, plenty of water fountains available. They have planned for the comfort of the visitors. My photos certainly don't show the extent and great variety of the place...monkeys, orangutan, dromedaries, beautiful birds, nice splash pad for kids, individual displays of the local desert inhabitants, so much more. Nice gift shop, plenty of parking.

The Phoenix Zoo is such a fun place to visit! Definitely bring good walking shoes — there’s plenty to see and explore. We went in December, and the weather was perfect, though we did need light jackets. We especially loved seeing the lion, and the ZooLights experience was an absolute blast. A great place for families or anyone who loves animals!
Savanah E — Google review
It is a good size and very accessible with adult scooters, kid and adult animal themed scooters, and stroller rentals. The zoo membership was worth it since it pays for itself in about 2 visits. The cafe is decent and if you come on less busy days or less peak hours, it is really peaceful and serene with lots of areas to sit. The animal variety is pretty good for being in the desert and it even has a Siberian Amur tiger, one of the most expensive zoo animals and endangered big cats, that not even the San Diego Zoo has.
Kelley C — Google review
Had a great time at the Phoenix Zoo! The animals seem well taken care of. Enclosures are fairly large and well kept. There are animal ambassadors at most of the areas that are very informative and knowledgeable. They were able to answer all our questions and some were quite funny. They have the only open walk through attraction with squirrel monkeys in the United States, which is in my opinion a must see for any visitor to the zoo. Also you can feed giraffes, ride a camel or play in the water park. Their is something for everyone. Overall my experience was enjoyable and I recommend if your are in Phoenix to add a stop at the zoo!
Alicia C — Google review
We recently went here for zoo lights as part of an event from work, and it was beautiful. We have never been here for this, but now that we have, we enjoyed it very much. All of the lights and the details that they did to make all of it happen was worth it. I didn't take many pictures as I was enjoying my self that I forgot.. but it is beautiful and a really great experience. The animals are sleeping so you dont really see them. The trails are closed to some areas, but they make the animals come to life with, all the lights! There was only a few things open for snacks and drinks, and they had long lines so I guess bring yoir drinks and snacks with you? Otherwise is a really great experience for everyone!

Beautiful zoo. Lots of remodeling and upgrades being done. Nice tram tour of park, only $6. Today was the Dia de los muertos event, was awesome.

We had a wonderful time at the Phoenix Zoo! The grounds were clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. For being in the desert, there was plenty of shade, which made walking around very comfortable even on a warm day. There were lots of drink stations and food options throughout the zoo, so it was easy to grab a refreshment or snack without having to go far. The layout was easy to follow with maps and signs everywhere, which made exploring stress-free and enjoyable. The giraffe area was absolutely huge, and we loved the elevated platform walkway that connects exhibits that gives a unique view of the animals below. Overall, the Phoenix Zoo is a fun, family-friendly place that clearly takes pride in both guest experience and animal care.

You can't go wrong with the Phoenix Zoo. Plenty of wild animals and you'll get your steps in. They offer strollers, wheelchairs, and scooters for a fee. Kids love this place. Annual pass is affordable for the entire family.

Nature & Parks
Papago Park, located about a 20-minute drive from downtown Phoenix between Scottsdale and Tempe, offers an expansive area for hiking and picnicking. The park is home to the Phoenix Zoo, Papago Golf Course, Desert Botanical Garden, and other museums and attractions.
A must-visit spot while you’re in town! I often travel solo for work and always look for places that are both fun and feel safe—this hike checks both boxes. It’s less than a mile, and once you park, it’s easy to find your way up by walking around the rock. If you’re into taking photos, I highly recommend going early in the morning—it’s peaceful and the lighting is perfect. I tried both morning and evening hikes, and while the evening had beautiful views, it was much busier with engagements, kids, and general crowds. Even if you don’t hike up, the base area is worth a visit—lush with palm trees and a serene pond, perfect for a relaxing walk.

My sister/best friend of 34 years set out on the journey today. It was definitely majestic even with all the chatter that was going. Word to the wise if you go for meditation be sure to find a spot away from folks. That was definitely the only downfall of the day.

This park is definitely always wonderful in nature and peace! It’s an easier park to travel through since your agility level may be beginner yet it’s fun and always memorable. It’s a clean park and a safe one as well. The sunset is my favorite, definitely have been here for 15+ times, and recommend this place to lots of people!

This was much needed stop and reflect location. Being out with nature when it was not too hot or cold. Such beautiful views and area. I loved that there were bikers and walkers on the same trails.

This is a beautiful, picturesque park with a lot of different amenities! The walking trails on the mountain are easy to do and breathtaking, but even the more common features are in excellent shape! We have utilized the archery range many times, and it’s a neat addition to the area. You won’t be disappointed if you visit!

Nice park with lots to see. The zoo is also near. Level walking path, the hole in the wall climb was easy to navigate

Absolutely gorgeous park! Plenty of spots to sit and chill with breathtaking views of the mountains. The grounds are clean and well maintained. There are plenty of walking and biking paths, which is nice for a bit of solitude even when other people are there. There are picnic areas, water fountains, and restrooms as well. The famous hole in the rock formation overlooks the park, however it was slightly crowded when I went so I chose not to climb it. It was still pretty cool to see! Good place to kick back and enjoy some fresh air. Parking is easy and close by to everything.
Nicole H — Google review
We visited Papago Park to catch the sunset from the iconic Hole in the Rock, and it was truly breathtaking. The short hike up is manageable for most, including families with kids, though the gravel path can be a bit slippery—so wear sturdy shoes. Once at the top, the panoramic views of the city and desert landscape are worth every step. It's a popular spot, so expect a crowd, especially around sunset, but the atmosphere is friendly and communal. Facilities like restrooms and free parking are available at the base, making the visit convenient. Don't forget to bring water and perhaps a flashlight if you plan to stay after dusk. Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience a beautiful Arizona sunset!

The atmosphere is really fun. Our waitress was great. Apparently it was $10 dollar pizza night so we ordered 3 different ones and shared. All amazing and really good flavor. The Jess was my favorite

My husband and I visited twice. Both nights we had a lovely server named Emilee. She made very good suggestions for us. Our first night we had Key lime pie which was awesome! And on our second night she suggested the Tacos that were also amazing! It’s always good to have a cheerful engaging server who adds to out of the area visitors. We were visiting for 3 days from NJ and spent 2 nights dining at Fate Brewery.

Maybe I caught this place on an off night, can’t comment too much about the atmosphere. Service was decent BUT should have been better considering the amount of staff versus the amount, or lack of, customers here. 4/5. Drink was ready but I watched 3 servers ignore it until my actual server brought it the 20 feet to me. Food. Ordered the Hawaiian burger. Meat needs seasoning. I wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked. The patty was dry and overcooked. Lacked flavor. The pineapple was too dominant. Would not get again. Drinks. Good flavors to the IPA’s. The Fateful IPA wasn’t cold enough and flat. Asked for a repour . Same. False promises hazy was cold enough and still had fizz.

Forgot to take pics of the food but it was great. Lots of seating and good service. The home lager was just what I was hoping it would be after spending 2 hours at the botanical gardens. The menu had plenty of selections from pizza, burgers, to salads, etc. Can’t go wrong with this place. Parking out front was full but there is a larger lot on the backside of the building. We arrived at 5:30, it was busy but there were still plenty of tables and didn’t have to wait.

The server was friendly and helpful. My burger was good and came out fast. They have a good selection of their beers to choose from. I tried a few of their German beers and they import their ingredients from Germany.

Phenomenal is all I have to say. We had entirely too much food and I can honestly say we couldn't decide which item we liked more than the other! The ribs were delicious. Even the kids mac n cheese as well as pizza was so good! We had 9 glasses in our flight and all the beer (and sour) was so good! I particularly enjoyed the red ale and candy stout! We will gladly be coming back here. I would've taken pictures but the food was gone before I even thought about it!

Love any place that serves eggs on burgers (hanger style). The burger was wide not tall which was also a plus. The fries and ranch are classic. Perfect bar food with many TVs of all sports ball types.

Nestled within the charming Bespoke Inn in Old Town Scottsdale, Virtu Honest Craft is a culinary gem that has captured the hearts of food enthusiasts since its inception. This intimate eatery, with a cozy capacity of just 25 guests, offers an ever-evolving menu inspired by Mediterranean flavors and seasonal ingredients. Under the expert guidance of Chef Gio Osso, Virtu has garnered significant acclaim, including nominations for prestigious awards like the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant.
Absolutely delicious! We had such a wonderful evening last night at Virtù in Scottsdale visiting with friends. We ended up doing their 5 course meal to try more from the menu and wow was it incredible! We had 6 guests in our party and every dish was perfectly crafted and full of different tastes. If you’re in the area you have to visit, perfect date night spot, upscale family gatherings and feels like you’re stepping right into a little restaurant in Italy. A must see!

Excellent experience, wonderful service, perfectly prepared food, Excellent options, great drinks and romantic atmosphere. It's a dining experience and highly recommend you let the chef do their thing! Octopus perfectly charred and flavorful. Branding was delicious. Desserts where perfectly size and beautiful presentation. Really can't say enough positive about Virtu. Perfect experience and we'll worth it!!

Our dinner at Virtù Honest Craft started with a small mix-up — the wrong dish was brought out on my wife’s birthday. The staff immediately owned it, apologized sincerely, and went above and beyond by comping both plates. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a cozy, romantic atmosphere that feels special the moment you walk in. We ordered the crudo, asparagi, anatra, and manzo — every dish was incredible, full of layered flavors and beautifully presented. Despite the initial hiccup, we left impressed and grateful for the way they turned things around.

Service was fantastic, food was very fresh and delicious, the octopus and steak were the best, couldn't quite figure out the flavor for the scallops. The cocktails were also fantastic. Great ambiance in a nice little tucked in square.

The asparagus dish is what put the chef on the map they told me and I highly recommend it because it was absolutely over the top delicious. Pork chops were perfectly cooked, the fish was clean and super crispy. And both the sticky coffee pudding and the butterscotch pudding are things I'll remember forever. Beautiful setting and great service. Photos will not do this restaurant justice, you just need to come here and at least try the asparagus and two desserts. Also dog friendly!

Virtu is typically a special occasion spot for my wife and I. The drinks are amazing, the food is immaculate, and other restaurants can learn a thing or two about service from these guys. The ribeye is always delicious and typically a staple when we do go. The octopus and bufala were also hits when we go. I will say this, my wife was sad to see the ice queen had been taken off the drink menu, but our bartender actually whipped it up for her! That was a really cool move on her part, but I'd recommend putting it back in rotation! Who would have thought black pepper in a cocktail would be so good?!

This is one of our favorite "happy places"! Friendly staff, beautiful scenery, unique and fun events, educational support for our own plants, and so many more things are what keep us coming back. It has something for everyone. Some of our favorite things so far have been getting married here, enjoying the yearly Boo-tanical Garden with the kids, having regular date days/nights here, and attending their plant sales. The restaurant and cafe are delicious, and the gift shop always has something worth taking home. We absolutely love the Desert Botanical Garden and would recommend to anyone looking for a nice date night, family time, or even just some "me time".

I’d give this place 10 stars if I could! The Desert Botanical Garden is absolutely beautiful and so well maintained. Every trail and exhibit is thoughtfully designed, and you can really see the care that goes into keeping everything in top shape. The staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable; they were happy to answer questions and share insights about the plants and desert landscape. It’s such a peaceful and inspiring place to explore, whether you’re a local or just visiting. There’s also a restaurant on site that feels like fine dining without being stuffy. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, and they cater to a wide range of dietary needs. Overall, it’s a must-visit spot in Phoenix.

The botanical garden is a must visit. The trails are no lesser than any state park/national park. The gathering tours were really informative. The staff is friendly. Gift store is so beautiful. There are water stations every now and there. Hydration is not all a problem. Loved watching butterflies and hummingbirds in the butterflies trail. Saguaros are unique.

Must experience. Absolutely beautiful. We were fortunate to arrive after the monsoonal rains. Everything was green and blooming. We arrived a little before sunset, so we're able to see the gardens during the day, at sunset with a beautiful Arizona sky, and the gardens lit at night. The Botanical garden is open till 9:00 pm. If you have a layover at Phoenix Airport, the gardens aren't very far away. I would encourage anyone younger old to take time to visit.

The park is lovely. I went later in the afternoon at the end of October and it was still very warm. You can bring your own water bottle to fill at multiple filtered water stations - water comes out cold. Bring sunglasses, water bottle, sunblock and a hat. Gift shop is very nice.

The Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix is absolutely incredible! I was blown away by the breathtaking views—towering saguaros and colorful cacti create this surreal, almost magical desert landscape. There are so many cool cactuses, from spiky barrels to funky agaves, and I loved wandering the shaded trails snapping photos. It’s super peaceful, like a total escape from the city, with hummingbirds zipping around adding to the calm. The paths are easy to navigate, and the sunset glow on the red buttes was unreal. It’s about $40 to enter, but worth every penny for the curated beauty. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves nature or just wants a chill, inspiring outing. Bring water if it’s warm, and go early for fewer crowds. I’m already excited to come back!

I was somehow expecting an overpriced patch of sand with a few saguaro cactus in it. I instead found a magnificently curated and highly developed garden featuring the huge diversity of plant life to be found in a seemingly empty desert space. There is a surprising amount of beautiful garden infrastructure and architecture in place that enhances an enchanting desert experience. This is a totally morthwhile experience and it's a mere three miles from a major airport. It could not be more convenient. This garden is a participant in a National Garden.Reciprocity program so is easily accessible in terms of admission cost. My local garden card gave me access to this beautiful place at no cost

The food was wonderful, with large portions! We split the Shaved Kale Salad, and they brought out what looked like two full-size servings of salad. Service was great. We never felt rushed. The main dining area is very loud. Outside dining was much quieter. The outside dining in the back of the restaurant was much cooler than the front (east facing?). Reservations required.

We came here with our family an 8 top and they accommodated us wonderfully! We had a reservation and had excellent service. Most of us had drinks and they were all delicious! I had the steak tacos and wow it hit the spot! The meat is incredibly tender and full of flavor. We all loved the guacamole as well which we got 2 orders of. The energy here is very modern. We will definitely come back again. Definitely a great experience, service, food, and atmosphere!

We visited The Mission in Scottsdale after landing, with my husband, daughter-in-law, and grandson. It was just before the dinner hour, and while the restaurant itself had a nice setting, the service unfortunately left much to be desired. The hostess looked exhausted and not very welcoming, and our waitress greeted us with a tone right from the start. When my grandson asked if there were other drink options besides what she listed, she curtly responded, “What I told you is what we have, nothing else.” He then decided on a Shirley Temple, which arrived without any syrup and tasted off. When we mentioned it, she replied, “I made it and oh maybe the syrup is out,” but didn’t seem too concerned. The only time we saw her smile was when she handed my husband the check. On the positive side, the mahi mahi tacos were delicious. However, there were no food options for toddlers, and overall the service didn’t feel friendly or attentive. Considering the cost of dining out, it just wasn’t worth it. For us, this won’t be a place we try again.

“Heaven in a Tortilla — La Mission, You Had Me at Guavamole!” Where do I even begin? Let’s start with that guavamole dip 🥑 — yes, guava + guacamole, who knew this was the crossover we needed in life? The first bite hit me like a mariachi trumpet at sunrise — chunks of avocado so fresh they could’ve had their own fan club, with this little whisper of sunflower seeds that just said, “Bro, you’re not ready for this.” Then came the pork bruschetta — absolutely incredible. The kind of flavor that makes you close your eyes and re-evaluate every life choice that led you there. Pro tip: do not skip the flour tortillas. They’re warm, fluffy, and basically edible blankets of joy. Now the wifey ordered the steak tacos, and let me tell you — those things were loaded on steroids. Three big tacos that looked like they just walked out of LA Fitness. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor — she didn’t even offer me a bite, so you know they were good. And just when I thought I couldn’t take another bite, here comes the pumpkin bread pudding — dripping in some kind of magical sauce I couldn’t identify, but honestly didn’t care. It was that good. I told myself, “You’re diabetic,” but my fork said, “We don’t care right now.” The place was packed — sold out crowd — so we ended up sitting at the bar, and Christine behind the counter was an absolute legend. She turned a backup plan into the best seats in the house. Her service was smooth, friendly, and on point all night. Bottom line — if you’re ever in Old Town Scottsdale, do yourself a favor and stop at La Mission. Come hungry, leave happy, and maybe a little more diabetic than you arrived. 😂 A perfect ending to an awesome Arizona vacation. 🌵🌮

We had the carnitas for two - absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this meal. We also ordered the guacamole which was served and prepared table side, which was fantastic. They even allow you to measure the amount of heat with the Serano peppers, so if you like it spicy or mild, you could get it however you would like. Chips and salsa were top notch, thin, crispy chips, and a very good salsa that was light and refreshing. We got the duck empanadas for appetizer, which were absolutely delicious. Unlike any empanada I’ve ever eaten. For dessert, we got their homemade ice cream, I would consider it to basically be Mexican Street corn, which was really good and really unique and very light and taste and palate cleansing. Our waitress was outstanding and suggested are entrée and dessert which we were very grateful for!

It's been many years since we have been to The Mission, so I was happy to return for a birthday meal. They sat us promptly at our reservation time and I received excellent attention from all staff, including some happy birthday wishes. The table side guac is always a nice treat with a marg. I forgot you can sit outside, may try that next time.

Sugar Bowl is an iconic ice cream parlor in Scottsdale that has been serving up sweet treats since 1958. This old-school establishment offers a variety of classic treats, including sundaes, sodas, banana splits, and a selection of sandwiches and salads. The bubblegum-pink diner and ice cream parlor features a nostalgic ambiance with pink-and-white booths, swivel stools, and an old-fashioned ice cream counter.
I had never been to this place before, and upon entering, saw only a bunch of sugar raging ( very loud ) kids inside. You have to wait to be seated by a hostess. I was still having doubts about this place while looking at the menu & the prices. I ended up ordering myself a vanilla shake. And OH BOY! I LOVED IT VERY MUCH!! This place has the absolutely best ice cream in the entire valley. Do not miss this place. You will not be sorry if you go here. Wonderful staff and location. I would even say it is a jewel of Scottsdale, and the entire Valley of the Sun.

Stepping into The Sugar Bowl is like stepping back in time in the best way possible. This charming little gem in Scottsdale has been around for decades, and it's easy to see why it's still going strong. The pink aesthetic is absolutely adorable – from the striped walls to the nostalgic decor, it feels like you're dining inside a vintage postcard. The framed photos of the original soda fountain setup add a nice historical touch and give you a real sense of the place's legacy. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even sweeter. The food was great – I had some classic tea sandwiches that were fresh and tasty, and we couldn’t resist trying one of their sundaes. It was everything you'd want from an old-fashioned ice cream treat: rich, creamy, and topped with the perfect cherry. And don’t miss the arcade in the back! It’s such a fun, unexpected addition – full of retro games that kids and adults alike will enjoy. Whether you're a local or just visiting Old Town Scottsdale, The Sugar Bowl is definitely worth a stop. It's not just a meal – it's a full experience packed with nostalgia, flavor, and charm.

They didn’t lie with the name—my sundae was pure sugar. I ordered the Creamed Walnut Fudge Sundae and somehow tasted no chocolate, no marshmallow, no pecans, not even ice cream. Just sweet and cold. I genuinely wondered if it was my taste buds malfunctioning… until I tried my sister’s food. Her finger sandwiches (egg salad and corned beef) were delicious. The kettle chips? Perfectly crisp and salty. Her Coke float was solid too, but that’s hard to mess up—just Coke and vanilla ice cream. Meanwhile, folks around us seemed thrilled with their banana splits, so maybe I just picked the wrong item. Despite the sundae flop, our server Olivia was an absolute gem: kind, attentive, and genuinely lovely. She made the experience feel cared for, even if the dessert didn’t.

The Sugar Bowl is a must of you are visiting Old Town Scottsdale. We went in the evening on a Friday night. I had the Tin Roof Sunday, and my wife had the Golden Nugget!! They were both delicious! The atmosphere is very much old school, and it will hit the nostalgic vibes. The staff was very kind and efficient. Don't forget to buy a coffee much for the collection in the way out.
Chad B — Google review
This place is straight out of the 60s, pink walls, diner booths, and the kind of vibe that makes you feel like you should be wearing a leather jacket and ordering a sundae with a jukebox playing in the background. The ice cream was everything you want ice cream to be, cold, creamy, and full of flavor. I went with a double scoop because I keep it simple, and it was spot on. My partner got a parfait and it looked like something straight out of a magazine, stacked and layered perfectly. The best part is you actually sit down, order, and it comes out made fresh, none of this “stand in line, get scooped, and shuffle away” routine. Portions were generous, the flavors were dialed in, and the whole place just nails that classic throwback charm. If you have not been here yet, fix that. Seriously. It is ice cream that tastes like happiness, nostalgia, and childhood all mixed together, and it is absolutely worth the stop.
Mike M — Google review
Stopped in last Friday for a traditional banana split. What a treat! Absolutely delicious. A little slow getting service at first, but the server was so sweet and the dessert came so quickly, we didn't mind at all. If you're new in town and love delicious ice cream in a vintage setting, don't miss this Scottsdale landmark!

I had passed the Sugar Bowl many times. After a night out at a different restaurant I decided to stop here for a desert. Oh my... This restaurant has been here since 1958 and is in resemblance to a 1950's ice cream parlor. I loved the atmosphere. And even at 9 pm, it was still fully packed with customers. I had the "Gosh-Awful-Gooey Banana Split. It had coffee and strawberry ice cream to die for. Covered in Whipping Cream and Carmel sauce. With a Cherry on top. Definitely coming back. Such a great happy atmosphere.

Friendly and quick service. A lot of choices and the ice cream is delicious. Don’t pass on the root beer float! It was delicious! Great way to cool down with the Arizona heat!

Diego Pops is a trendy Mexican restaurant located in Old Town Scottsdale, offering a modern and playful twist on traditional Mexican dishes. The menu features a variety of options, from classic tacos and burritos to reimagined favorites like brussels sprout nachos and street corn queso. The restaurant also boasts an airy patio bar where diners can enjoy happy hour specials on margaritas and tequila sampling.
Favorite meal of our whole Scottsdale trip! What a gem. It's so cute from inside to outside they do not miss a beat. The sweet hostess sat us quickly at a big table; who doesn't love eating tacos on a leather couch?! I ordered chips and salsa/queso for the table and they were both so yummy. I ordered a fantastic cocktail that was served in a baby coconut and it was so cute & delicious. BRUSSELS SPROUT + PROSCIUTTO salad for dinner was a HUGE WIN. I added their grilled chicken and I cannot stop thinking about it. I love the way they bring out their 6 pack of salsas/sauces with the little menu card! Such a fun detail and they were all GREAT! A big shoutout to our hostess because I realized I had made the reservation for the wrong night, but she took care of it no problem. She was very kind! This was the only meal we said we would come back to the restaurant! Big Cheers! Thanks for a great dinner!

Great vibe and good food in this little gem of a restaurant! Great Mexican food, tacos, chips, burritos! All served by a super friendly staff! Indoor seating and outdoor seating with mist fans! Good drinks to top off a good meal.

First time here and everything was great. The food, service and atmosphere all good. I had the mangonada which I didn't care for, next time I'll try the margarita. I would recommend this place for sure. Its super chill and relaxing. Everyone sat outside, we ended up sitting inside which was great...wasn't loud at all. Go check this place out.

Reasonably priced and large portion sizings. The sauce basket with all the flavors to choose from was awesome! Ordered the chicken burrito and it was quite filling and tasty. Also had fried plantains as a side and they were perfectly cooked. Favorite sauce was the roasted garlic beet creme! Service was excellent. Got there around 1PM on a Wednesday and had about a 15 minute wait. If you are a gluten free diner they have a separate frier for your food!

Happy hour was sooooo delish! We had Brussel sprout nachos, huge, so many flavorful toppings, great to share! We loved the six chilled sauces they bring out and had fun trying them all. We also got a ceviche which was packing a punch but tasty. Will def be back!

Our server was outstanding. The brussel sprout nachos and cod tacos were tasty. I particularly enjoyed the six sauces brought to the table, especially the roasted garlic beet creama. I love their drink glasses and their ice water tasted great, coming from a water snob.

One of the best happy hours in Scottsdale that goes on till 6pm! Fun atmosphere and friendly service. The food we had was decent but not great. We only liked the chicken crunchy taco and the different variety of sauces they provide were really fun to try. Will continue to visit and try more of their menu. 👍🏻

Restaurant
HULA'S Modern Tiki Scottsdale is a trendy restaurant and bar that channels the vintage tiki vibe of the 1950s and 1960s. The establishment features a spacious indoor-outdoor layout with communal tables, creating a tropical ambiance. The menu boasts an array of Polynesian-inspired dishes and drinks, including classic tiki cocktails like Mai Tai, Painkiller, and Zombie served in festive mugs.
More of a Hawaiian-Themed restaurant than a Tiki Bar, but serves up lots of Tiki-drinks and has an excellent weekday/weekend happy hour. Service was excellent, although the bar/restaurant was short-staff (only one waiter/host, one bartender, and two cooks - seriously busy). Despite all, service was good and the drinks were great.

Absolutely amazing! We came here for happy hour and it served as a great dinner. I had the ceviche and spicy edamame. Both are MUST haves. The ceviche has amazing flavor and is very neutral, not at all fishy. The edamame is absolutely amazing, char grilled, has a kick but not too bad. My friends had the Thai chicken bowl, pork pot stickers, and lettuce cups. Lettuce cups are also high on the list, the bowl was good and pot stickers were great. Drinks were well priced, strong, and have good flavors. A good variety of options. I’ve had better service but they were fairly busy and low on staff. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful in selecting items. I would 100% return and highly recommend!

Glad we decided to try hula‘s out! We were curious and decided to sample several of the appetizer options. Everything had great flavor, Nothing was bland, and we were able to control the spice level on whatever we ordered. We tried the lettuce wraps, fried plantains, potstickers, fish bites, and Johnny cakes. We weren’t in love with the Johnny cakes or fried plantains, there was nothing wrong with them, they just weren’t our favorites. The fish bites were super crispy, but had much more breading than fish. The lettuce wraps were delicious with a great balance between meat and vegetable and enough lettuce leaves to accommodate all the filling. The potstickers were large, nicely browned, and had plenty of filling. We all fell in love with their Thai peanut and their soy based dipping sauces. Our server was very responsive and super friendly! We’re looking forward to going back and trying more of their menu.

We came with a group of 8 on a Saturday morning, soon after they opened. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was our first time there and everybody loved all of their dishes! Really yummy and fresh. We will be happy to return!

Excellent food, drinks, and service! We started with spicy edamame, which had a kick with savory flavor. I chose the fish sandwich with half sweet potato fries, half regular. The fish was perfectly seasoned and a generous portion—did not need the bread. I will definitely come back and order this again. My fiancé ordered the short ribs, which were delicious! His brother ordered the pulled pork in a delectable sauce. We will definitely be back, and highly recommend Hula’s!

Food was good and could be better we had the tofu bowl and hula fish tacos. Flavor was on point and the free condiments on the side had great flavor punch. the atmosphere could have been better for the location. Not many vegetarian options mostly tofu. But seafood here was great.

My friends took me to this restaurant and I was concerned that it wouldn't have gluten-free options but pleasantly surprised that they did. I had the lime chicken tacos which were really good. I liked that they had a little bit of a kick to them. The rice was just rice, nothing particularly special in the flavor. The beans that came with the rice weren't very flavorful either. Overall, is probably go again just for the tacos.

Italian restaurant
Franco's Italian Caffe, founded by the esteemed Chef Franco Fazzuoli, offers an authentic Florentine dining experience. The restaurant boasts a menu filled with quintessential Italian dishes, from fresh antipasti like bruschetta to sumptuous main courses featuring delectable proteins. With its cozy and elegant ambiance, this establishment is known for serving elevated Italian pastas and mains.
You may have parked in Scottsdale, but once you are inside the front door of Franco's, you are in Italy! The atmosphere is genuine Italian. The smell coming from the kitchen smells like an Italian grandma is cooking, and in fact many of the recipes are from the owner's Italian grandmother. We enjoyed a variety of pasta and seafood, along with a bottle of Italian wine. The staff were so pleasant and helpful. This is a neighborhood gem.

Derrick and his team were amazing and very attentive this evening. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and his small gestures went a long way for it being our first time. Food was great- pricier than avg however quality makes up for it. (Stay over at Olive Garden if you're one of those) We will definitely be back- thank you once again for the great experience.

We went to Franco's for a large group gathering, and the staff went above and beyond to help accommodate within their small, intimate space. Unfortunately we were about 30 people deep, and the staff were a bit overwhelmed so service was super slow. We were the first in and the very last to be served hours later. The food was traditional Italian, with homemade pasta and bright sauces across the variety of dishes that we ordered. Decent food, nice staff, but Scottsdale overpriced prices.

This was hands down the best Italian meal we’ve ever had. We stopped here as our first dinner on our vacation and Dave welcomed us with pure hospitality. His menu recommendations were absolutely delicious and he truly made sure we had the best dining experience, which is rare when you are the last customers of the night. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know who visits the area. Thank you again Dave and team!

The food was delicious! Italian wine excellent. I had pasta and my husband Halibut. Small restaurant so make reservations. Great culinary experience!

My photos do not do this place justice. The food is first rate! They pride themselves on their authenticity. The food tastes like it is straight out of Italy. We toured Italy a couple years back and dinning at Franco’s felt like and the food tasted like we were in a high end Italian restaurant in Italy with authentic Italian dishes. They will alter the food when requested to do so to make it more “Americanized” but this is not needed. I appreciated that they try and accommodate their guests and even the food that is altered is also amazing. The staff were first rate as well. We had a really sweet and detail oriented waitress who took care of all our needs and made sure the meal was excellent. The last time we came my wife didn’t like the dish, she didn’t know what veal was like and it wasn’t her cup of tea but they quickly replaced it with something she loved. The owner of the restaurant came over and talked of us and made sure we loved everything. Such a great little restaurant! We highly recommend it.

Los Olivos Mexican Patio is a long-standing, family-owned restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona that has been serving up authentic Mexican cuisine since 1947. The menu offers a wide variety of flavorful dishes and refreshing margaritas in a casual setting. With its extensive menu and reasonably priced options, this eatery has become a tradition for locals and visitors alike.
Group of us went to bridal expo next door which was a bummer with only 15 vendors inside the lobby, so we needed a margarita to cheer us up! We ended up getting 2 mini samplers and pitcher of Cadillac margarita! Drinks were strong but tasty, we were all buzzing! The samplers were 🤤 delicious and they weren't stingy with the salsas or Guacamole!! Atmosphere was awesome! Definitely enjoyed our time there. Staff and management were amazing and helped us save some money by getting the pitcher for same price would have been for 3 drinks. 😁 They even opened the door couple minutes early bc they saw us sitting outside. Great friendly and attentive service!! Btw first time there for 3 of us! My mom actually went there couple weeks ago for comedy show!! Last picture! We had a nice buzz feeling.. 😁

First time visiting after spending the day walking around Old Town. Wanted to find a good Mexican spot that we didn't have to drive to and found Los Olivos - we are very happy we did! It's a little hidden but worth it! We came during lunch time on a weekend and there was no wait. The main dining room inside is nice and feels very authentic. The decor and architecture in different areas is very cool! Food wise, we tried the Steak Fajitas and Chicken Enchiladas. Delicious! Great sized portions. The fajitas in particular had a huge amount of food! Even the kids meals were good sizes. Ordered a few drinks as well - the house margarita, strawberry margarita, and the sangria. Drinks were okay in the groups opinion. On the small side compared to other places around. Overall, really good food and service. Definitely worth trying out when in Old Town.

Yummy guacamole! Fish tacos were pretty good, chicken tacos were alright. Spinach enchiladas were interesting and could have some more seasoning. They were fairly busy and it took a while to place the food order once we were seated. Great atmosphere!

This place is more American than Mexican… the food it has a completely different taste and texture as traditional Mexican dishes, and besides that it’s too expensive for 2 tacos, rice and beans plate $22, it’s outrageous.. not recommended as a Mexican restaurant

Tried a few spots in Scottsdale/Phoenix area hoping to seek out the est Mexican food (as I’m from the north and it is few and far between). This is the best Mexican food i found in this area and maybe the best ever. I had a shredded beef chalupa and that alone was a filling meal for my larger than average appetite. The chips and homemade sals helped before, which were both great with some heat as well. My buddy agreed it may be the best he’s had as well. The waiter and manager were both great, made the experience better. We learned some interesting history of the establishments beginnings, which makes you appreciate the place even more. Thank you Los Olivos, sincerely, your northern gringo amigos!

Tried this restaurant for the first time. Arrived around 7:30 for a cocktail at the bar before dinner. The people at the host stand overly suggested eating at the bar despite us asking for a table at 8pm (hours were from 11am to 9pm). Our food came out very quickly, was delicious but the cheese wasn't melted and it was just warm. Promptly at 9am, the staff started turning off some of the lights in our dining room. At that time, we had already paid the bill and were finishing our wine/cocktails. At 9:10pm, one of the staff ran by our table to say "It's closing time" and move on to the next table. We had to quickly gulp our drinks and leave. Quick note also to be careful on the wine by the glass. Our wine tasted like it was on the verge of turning bad.

Although I had high expectations I was not impressed by the food. Frankly it was bland and tasteless for the most part. The hot salsa was the only thing I found that had any taste at all. It's not at all like I remember from 20 years ago.

Italian restaurant
Marcellino Ristorante is a charming Italian restaurant located in Old Town Scottsdale, run by the husband-and-wife team of Marcellino and Sima. Chef Marcellino, originally from Italy's Campania region, brings his expertise to the menu which features authentic Italian dishes. The restaurant offers various dining areas including a private dining space and a romantic cove.
Went for a date night and had an excellent time. From the friendly staff to the great live music, the place was a hit. Our dinners were superb as we argued over whose food was better, each not wanting to concede our mouthwatering dishes of pork(me) and chicken(her). We weren't feeling noodles tonight but will definitely go back to try . We were feeling the apple dessert with ice cream and it was just right to split. 10 out of 10!
William S — Google review
Marcelino’s patio is really attractive, and I especially like that it’s below street level shielding it from car noise. Our friends loved their cocktails, and we enjoyed the selection of Italian wines - there’s enough variety for all budgets. Our server was efficient and attentive, and we were never left wanting. The only negative of all of our dishes was the mussels in a tomato-based sauce. The sauce was quite tasteless and definitely not at all spicy.
Mickey J — Google review
We just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary here. Originally we had planned to go elsewhere, but changed our minds after having drinks at Marcellino's bar the night before. So glad we did! This is the absolute best restaurant at which I've eaten! Anywhere! Everything was perfect: our delicious entrees, the wine, the service, the decor, the lighting, the live music (with a fabulous singer), the beautiful dessert -- even the simple salad we ordered. It's obvious that the owner, chef, and staff pay attention to EVERY little detail. I wish that we lived in Scottsdale so that we could dine here more often!

My husband and I went tonight to celebrate our anniversary and cannot wait to go back again! We sat in the chef's cove private alcove and experienced the 5 course meal that accommodated our every want and need. The service was impeccable- friendly, thorough and professional. The food was AMAZING! The flavors extremely well blended, with a great variety and we felt like we were back in Italy! We over ate- but happily! Compliments to the chef- and the entire staff for making our evening memorable!

My wife and I ate at this outstanding Italian restaurant recently and it did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and had a great conversation with the chef/owner and his wife. They have been in business over 20 years and serve a variety of authentic made from scratch pastas and other dishes. It was truly a memorable night. We liked the food and atmosphere so much we made another reservation to come back on Saturday night to hear live music (the owner's wife was a professional singer) but unfortunately our plans changed and we missed the experience. It is definitely on our list to return to next time we are in Scottsdale.

We tried this restaurant in old town Scottsdale by the canal. The setting is beautiful with the lights, and the weather was great on the patio (in May) after 7pm. Expect to pay a decent amount. The quality of the food is good. Portion size varied. My wife had a seafood dish that was a special with lobster. It was probably the best (and biggest) dish. The pasta dishes we tried were very tasty, and adequate. The veal and chicken dishes were pretty small, so if you order that don't come hungry. The mule in spring drink was refreshing, though my wife's espresso martini was really tasty.
