My partner and I came in recently looking for a quiet dinner, initially it looked like a normal pub with your typical pub decor. However, we were met with a really pleasant server, Christian, who walked us through to the restaurant. As we sat down, the vibe of the place changed. Run an owner by one of the most humble human beings in hastings according to me. He owner will welcome you by bowing towards you and every time she sees you off she does he same, she comes in and checks often on how he food is and makes things on special request if necessary. The staff is a small one and he one who waited on me was extremely sweet and welcoming as well. I can’t emphasise enough on how cozy and comfortable this cafe is. If you’re someone who loves books and Thai food trust me you have to come here! It would be a terrible if you missed this amazing spot with fantastic food. Moving towards the food: It starts off with the generous helping of prawn crackers with the homemade sweet sauce and a little tangy and sweet sauce, super fresh and not fishy smelling at all which I was happy about. For starters I ordered the mango salad and satay chicken, I can still taste that amazing sauce on my tongue , the peanut sauce was the perfect portion for the chicken and it was in a marinade so perfectly matched. For the mains I ordered the green Thai curry which was quite okay but I wouldn’t highly recommend it, I preferred the stir fry chicken with Thai basil and veggies which was yummy. Watch out for Pad Thai as it is super addictive to have, there is no such thing as just one bite, the meat is perfectly cooked the balance of the flavours was fantastic, I was impressed by this Pad Thai. For the dessert, I was initially quite skeptical about ordering anything but the sticky rice and mango, but they had a lemon tart with a simple homemade vanilla ice cream , I am someone who is quite weak in he knees for a good lemon tart, I kid you not, this was probably one of the best I’ve had from an Asian restaurant, it was bitter but the ice cream perfectly complimented it. I was just so thankful in that moment because it was too good to be true. I highly recommend this café. It is tucked away just around the corner from Norman Road in Western Road. I was at dinner for said friend’s birthday. They usually have 4 of their own ales on hand pump. The food is absolutely fantastic too, with a regularly changing menu and also food theme nights. At the time of writing it's Thai on Mondays and Thali on Thursdays. Food service is 12-3pm and 6-9pm and they take card payments. We opted for pan fried sea bass on a bed of crushed potatoes in a lemon caper sauce and a lovely fish pie. This was followed by an excellent sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend booking for evening dinner as it gets very busy, but that's just because it's so good!

Me and my friends fancied a lil jaunt down to the seaside to escape our busy London life and this pub was highly recommended through friends of friends. Walking to the pub, you pass by so many enchanting houses and antiques galore. Once you enter you are met with a delightful ambience. The service was welcoming and kind always making sure we had everything we needed. We ordered four roasts - I had the beef and it was just exceptional. Perfect portion - delicious taste and the vegetables were all perfect! In winter time, a cast iron fire pit place in the middle of the pub provides for a cozy setting and one barely wants to leave. Amazing fresh food, we enjoyed burrata, bread their own cured salmon and merguez sausage which where all superb, but the menu is diverse with loads of choices. The wine selection is also great. The staff were accommodating and friendly and we were able to choose where we sat inside. There were a few options on the menu for burgers, vegetarian/vegan burgers and fries and sides. The choices all looked really nice, I had the chilli burger which was full of flavour and shared rosemary fries. Really delicious food and a great place to stop for lunch on the sea front. The chips were a mixed batch of 2 different types of fries and were too soggy. No offer of reducing the bill, or shouting us a drink with would have eased some angst. I'm sure it could be very good if the food came out of the kitchen much faster and they had a better plan for those waiting. I felt for the poor new girl who was getting grumpy stares from every angle and was pleasant and as engaging as she could be. Not her fault. Until they get those basic problems properly sorted, steer well clear.

We were VERY pleased that we went here. The menu was small which surprised my wife. However the food was AMAZINGLY tasty and well prepared and presented. I had the Venison Sausages with a Whole Carrot a Cassoulet of Lentils and Kale with deep fried Kale as well. The cassoulet was VERY tasty and with the added texture and taste of the deep fried kale (similar in texture to deep fried seaweed) and the Carrot was excellent. Now the Venison sausage is VERY, VERY good, but the skin on the 2nd sausage was a bit chewy to eat, so I removed ALL the venison and ate every bit of the venison filing as well as clearing my plate of everything but the bit of sausage skin. My wife had Onion Tarte tatin with bitter endive leaves served with a Caper and Walnut dressing with Grated Cheese on top. Overall we were Overwhelmed at just how good the food was. The beer is good too and I had a non alcoholic drink which included Angostura bitters and fruit juices which was very good. If we lived in the area, we would visit this independent pub every week at least. Oh and I had a dessert as well of Whipped custard, (apple and toffee compote) or similar with a light and crispy tuile wafer, which was ALL a revelation. Never tasted anything like this dessert. It was starting to get busy and most tables were booked but I was able to grab a space and enjoy a really good fish finger sandwich. Didn’t take long to come out, the chips were banging, the sandwich it self was one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve had! The tomato sauce was delicious and I found out it was homemade, tasted like a tomato soup (in my opinion). Good service, lovely people who work here and the atmosphere of the people here a good time. We came for a few drinks but decided to stay for dinner. My main was Honey glazed smoked bacon chop, fried eggs, chips, brown sauce, and my dessert was Pevensey Blue cheese, treacle tart, ginger prune compote. The food was amazing. We were lucky to walk in and get a table - booking recommended - for an excellent meal on Hastings Old Town seafront. Service was impeccable and the chalkboard menu did not disappoint (I've every faith it changes with the days catch!). We all loved pretty much everything we tried. The smoked seafood platter was a great way to start the meal, the cockles were delicious and I loved my seafood linguine and pannacotta. However we all agreed that the ceviche was way below standard. Several things were wrong with that dish. I visited this place after viewing a house nearby (which I now live in) and endured an absolutely horrific experience. It started when I began choking on a fish pâté that was unexpectedly filled with bones — no warning, no indication, until it was too late. The bones caused internal bleeding in my throat. In a panic, I rushed to the toilet to try and remove them, only to be met by staff who were frantically panicking themselves, repeatedly telling me they’d never seen anything like it — as if I had! Delicious! This is our favourite lunch spot in Hastings. We particularly like the Dhal of the Day. Lots of variations on this and they're all great, just like their Soup of the Day. They also do a great chowder, a bean chilli, hearty sandwiches on good quality bread - and the rest. A brunch menu favourite is mushrooms on toast. (It's just mushrooms on a piece of toast - except it's not!). It's all just unfussy, real food made by somebody who knows what they are doing. Excellent sandwiches and toasties. Waitress offered to toast the bread rather than the whole sandwich when I ordered the hummus, carrot and pepper sandwich, which turned out to be a perfect combo. The table next to us were praising their Carrot and Walnut cakes. Cakes are all home-made on the premises with generous slices. Café was clean, as were toilets. The service was efficient and staff very friendly. It was busy when we visited mid-week which is a good sign as there are a number of independent cafes alongside it. Lovely to find an independent café serving such lovely lunchtime food. Highly recommend.

Originally built in 1913, it's had a chequered history over the decades, including being a builder's supplies yard, but the current owners have restored it to its original purpose of screening movies (and hosting the occasional live music event). The auditorium is spacious with a good sized screen, not one of those titchy ones you get in your average town centre multiplex. I noticed they were showing a movie I wanted to see when I walked past a few days before the screening (most screenings are one offs or 2 or 3 at most over a weekend), but on the day when I showed up they'd taken the poster down from the front window and put up next week's attraction. I thought that seemed a bit odd, to remove your principal form of advertising while still showing the movie. Anyway, plenty of people seemed to know about the movie ("Dead of Winter" which was great, btw) and the place was packed. That's not to say I struggled to find a seat, but it was a healthy turn out. Perhaps the thronging crowd took the owners by surprise or perhaps they were short staffed, because the chap in the tiny wooden & glass cabinet-style box office was doubling up as ticket checker for those who had pre-booked online, and ticket sales for those like me who wished to avoid the £1.75 booking fee and pay on the door, and consequently was irrascible in his greeting, terse in the transaction, and didn't say "thank you/enjoy the show/sit anywhere/etc" at the end like they do at the Odeon (I'll have to do them a separate review). What a treat! I ventured up to St Leonards with an old friend and we were pleased to discover this quaint little coffee shop. Sat outdoors in the mild April warmth, we were served a wonderfully strong black coffee, as black as plimsolls and my friend, Ratchel had a luscious looking espresso banana smoothie. Watch out for the pumpkin seeds I would add, but these aside it looked great. I had a sausage roll which was served warm with a tangy tomato salsa, not something I expected however it was a pleasant surprise. The pastry was flakey and light and the sausage was as I like it, meaty with a firm bite. Next up were out bagels. Layers of salty prosciutto tucked in to the soft chewy warm bagel with peppery rocket, sun dried tomatoes which gave an occasional pop of sharp intensity and a thick sugary twang of balsamic glaze. Delightful! The staff were very friendly and I was more than impressed by this dainty little place. Check this establishment out, brilliant!

There were some really delightful sounding salads on the menu. We opted for bagels which were delicious. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and showed such a genuine interest in us. Food (read below) is good but a mixed bag. We arrived with two children in tow, were given a nice table and a very smart looking wooden high chair was rolled out for our baby. It was a Japanese themed night this Sunday the 25th of May. The menu was limited and focused. Drink orders were a Japanese Whisky Boulevardier and a Jalapeño Mescal Martini. Both were excellent .. Our waitress didn't have her eyes on the floor at all - too busy chatting with the chefs. The staff and service was excellent, and the price was very reasonable for the generous portions of food provided. I had the chicken teriyaki with rice which is my baseline to compare Japanese restaurants, and this did not disappoint. Rice was perfectly cooked, chicken was grilled and seasoned wonderfully as it was not salty like the stuff from chain restaurants. Then proceeded to devour the delicate chicken udon miso soup.
