Run an owner by one of the most humble human beings in hastings according to me. He owner will welcome you by bowing towards you and every time she sees you off she does he same, she comes in and checks often on how he food is and makes things on special request if necessary. The staff is a small one and he one who waited on me was extremely sweet and welcoming as well. I can’t emphasise enough on how cozy and comfortable this cafe is. If you’re someone who loves books and Thai food trust me you have to come here! It would be a terrible if you missed this amazing spot with fantastic food. Moving towards the food: It starts off with the generous helping of prawn crackers with the homemade sweet sauce and a little tangy and sweet sauce, super fresh and not fishy smelling at all which I was happy about. For starters I ordered the mango salad and satay chicken, I can still taste that amazing sauce on my tongue , the peanut sauce was the perfect portion for the chicken and it was in a marinade so perfectly matched. For the mains I ordered the green Thai curry which was quite okay but I wouldn’t highly recommend it, I preferred the stir fry chicken with Thai basil and veggies which was yummy. Watch out for Pad Thai as it is super addictive to have, there is no such thing as just one bite, the meat is perfectly cooked the balance of the flavours was fantastic, I was impressed by this Pad Thai. For the dessert, I was initially quite skeptical about ordering anything but the sticky rice and mango, but they had a lemon tart with a simple homemade vanilla ice cream , I am someone who is quite weak in he knees for a good lemon tart, I kid you not, this was probably one of the best I’ve had from an Asian restaurant, it was bitter but the ice cream perfectly complimented it. I was just so thankful in that moment because it was too good to be true. I highly recommend this café. Pro tip- 1) as it’s a small café do make sure to call and make reservations as it might be hard to get a table otherwise. 2) they only accept cash and not cards Cheers.

The service is very friendly. We went for the bacon chop option which was a superbly elevated take on gammon and eggs and was truly delicious. There were great seafood options and plenty of other things to choose from. They take card payments and food service is at the time of writing 12-4pm and 5-9pm. We were VERY pleased that we went here. The menu was small which surprised my wife. However the food was AMAZINGLY tasty and well prepared and presented. I had the Venison Sausages with a Whole Carrot a Cassoulet of Lentils and Kale with deep fried Kale as well. The cassoulet was VERY tasty and with the added texture and taste of the deep fried kale (similar in texture to deep fried seaweed) and the Carrot was excellent. Now the Venison sausage is VERY, VERY good, but the skin on the 2nd sausage was a bit chewy to eat, so I removed ALL the venison and ate every bit of the venison filing as well as clearing my plate of everything but the bit of sausage skin. My wife had Onion Tarte tatin with bitter endive leaves served with a Caper and Walnut dressing with Grated Cheese on top. Overall we were Overwhelmed at just how good the food was. The beer is good too and I had a non alcoholic drink which included Angostura bitters and fruit juices which was very good. If we lived in the area, we would visit this independent pub every week at least. Oh and I had a dessert as well of Whipped custard, (apple and toffee compote) or similar with a light and crispy tuile wafer, which was ALL a revelation. Never tasted anything like this dessert. It was starting to get busy and most tables were booked but I was able to grab a space and enjoy a really good fish finger sandwich. Didn’t take long to come out, the chips were banging, the sandwich it self was one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve had! The tomato sauce was delicious and I found out it was homemade, tasted like a tomato soup (in my opinion). Good service, lovely people who work here and the atmosphere of the people here a good time. We came for a few drinks but decided to stay for dinner. My main was Honey glazed smoked bacon chop, fried eggs, chips, brown sauce, and my dessert was Pevensey Blue cheese, treacle tart, ginger prune compote. The food was amazing. It’s super creamy and delicious. There are some amazing deserts over there too but I recommend the gelato first. Originally built in 1913, it's had a chequered history over the decades, including being a builder's supplies yard, but the current owners have restored it to its original purpose of screening movies (and hosting the occasional live music event). Anyway, plenty of people seemed to know about the movie ("Dead of Winter" which was great, btw) and the place was packed. That's not to say I struggled to find a seat, but it was a healthy turn out. Perhaps the thronging crowd took the owners by surprise or perhaps they were short staffed, because the chap in the tiny wooden & glass cabinet-style box office was doubling up as ticket checker for those who had pre-booked online, and ticket sales for those like me who wished to avoid the £1.75 booking fee and pay on the door, and consequently was irrascible in his greeting, terse in the transaction, and didn't say "thank you/enjoy the show/sit anywhere/etc" at the end like they do at the Odeon (I'll have to do them a separate review). What a treat! I ventured up to St Leonards with an old friend and we were pleased to discover this quaint little coffee shop. Sat outdoors in the mild April warmth, we were served a wonderfully strong black coffee, as black as plimsolls and my friend, Ratchel had a luscious looking espresso banana smoothie. Watch out for the pumpkin seeds I would add, but these aside it looked great. I had a sausage roll which was served warm with a tangy tomato salsa, not something I expected however it was a pleasant surprise. The pastry was flakey and light and the sausage was as I like it, meaty with a firm bite. Next up were out bagels. Layers of salty prosciutto tucked in to the soft chewy warm bagel with peppery rocket, sun dried tomatoes which gave an occasional pop of sharp intensity and a thick sugary twang of balsamic glaze. Delightful! The staff were very friendly and I was more than impressed by this dainty little place. Check this establishment out, brilliant!

There were some really delightful sounding salads on the menu. We opted for bagels which were delicious. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and showed such a genuine interest in us. Nothing was any trouble and the atmosphere was really chilled and relaxed. The indoor areas have screens up between tables to comply with covid, and marks on floor to keep distance when queuing. We came here for a coffee and brunch and there's good options for dietary requirements (one of us is veggie and the other GlutenFree). The coffee is excellent and I recommend the dirty chai here. I visited this place after viewing a house nearby (which I now live in) and endured an absolutely horrific experience. Delicious! This is our favourite lunch spot in Hastings. We particularly like the Dhal of the Day. Lots of variations on this and they're all great, just like their Soup of the Day. Excellent sandwiches and toasties. Waitress offered to toast the bread rather than the whole sandwich when I ordered the hummus, carrot and pepper sandwich, which turned out to be a perfect combo. Our 1 year old daughter’s lunch time was overdue after we had visited the Hastings Aquarium, and she was pretty ‘aggy’ let’s say. My parents recommended Aroma to us, and from the minute we sat down they made us feel very welcome and catered to our request when we asked if we could order some food for our daughter and get it asap to try and quieten down the tantrums! And soon enough, they had her fish fingers and chips out and the noise went away! We then ordered our own meals, and while I won’t list each one, we were all very very pleased with the quality of the cooking, the freshness of the salad, presentation and the sheer quantity of food on your plate! The cafe latte drinks were also superb.. The place itself is VERY clean and the tidy was exceptional. I presume it is a family run business (apologies if I’m wrong), but it’s clear that Aroma Coffee is being run by passionate and very attentive staff, who take a lot of pride in what they do. We visit Hastings fairly often now due to family moving to a nearby town, and honestly we will be back to Aroma the next time we are down!

I had a gluten free option while my friend had a vegetarian option. Everything was made / sourced locally, presented beautifully & it tasted amazing. The green tiles and decor is very cohesive and makes for s bright and welcoming environment. The menu is quite wide and you can have your usual breakfast fare and interesting drinks and coffees. Sadly, I picked the Mediterranean breakfast and I found it a bit uninspired, but the other dishes looked very good! The servers were more than friendly and helpful, the restaurant and toilets clean and ready for service and overall good food and drinks. The cafe is a little quirky and really fits the style of the old town, lots of colour and different styles that make a great energy. Really decent food for the price, which was served quickly and to good quality. Would 100% recommend for an easy, stress free, simple cafe lunch out. No need to book, just see if they have a table. Parking on the beachfront is probably best for accessibility. Tables outside available too.

If I could give zero stars I would. Part of our order was a child's meal that is advertised as coming with a fruit shoot. After we had ordered and paid the waitress came to the table to let us know they were out of fruit shoots (this is fine), but not sure how this wasnt realised when ordering. We asked if our son could have a different drink (just a small glass of milk) and we were told no, so I asked if we could have a partial refund as we had paid for the drink.. to which she said no. I explained this clearly wasnt fair.. the response I got was a VERY moody 'Ill ask again.' The (i presume manaager) said straight away of course we could have a replacement. Tap water we ordered never came, but felt too uncomfortable to ask for it after that interaction. Veggie burger and chicken wrap came with no sauce, so were very dry. Chips were definitely just standard oven chips. But the worst thing was when our toddler was eating his food (had to sit on a normal chair as no highchairs in sight), and the table top flipped up as it was broken, and very nearly whacked his chin. At that point we just got up and left didnt even bother finishing food. We left the table up in hope that no other people would sit at it with how dangerous it was. Please avoid. If you have small children do NOT go here. My favourite thing was the Biscoff biscuit that came with the tasteless hot chocolate.
