Good value for money also. The house is as fine and authentic as any grand Elizabethan house that you can imagine. The let down is that whilst the house and farm is payable, albeit good value, the wider estate is free access and whilst that is a benefit to most, you had the same old few who like to destroy or degrade all that is beautiful by rising off road bikes through the estate. Plenty of playgrounds for the young ones and parking is affordable (£4 for 12 hours). A treasure that we need to preserve for future generations and a great day out.

Around the Stone maze. It would appear there were more areas to explore across roads and slightly further down the hill. Each section had its own car park. Great place for a walk. Some very steep inclines and Declines down to the bottom of this section of park, but walking back up the Chevin Steps was an achievement in itself. All paths have great scenery and some have some wonderful views overlooking Otley. It’s usually fairly busy with people and dogs but plenty of space so not crowded. We came from the entrance just off Alwoodley Road. If you come from that side, google maps will tell you to go down Goodrick Lane which is a public footpath. You can get a car down, but it's only really wide enough for 1 car, however at the bottom it widens out a bit, so 2 or 3 cars could park down there. We parked in the next street though and just walked down the footpath. There's a single house at the end and we started our walk off to the right of it. The first part of the walk is all covered by foliage. You can see small small glimpses of the water, but it's about a half hour/40 minute walk or so before you actually come out and can see clearly. Then after a short while you'll see the first house and we took the little left turning just next to it. This path leads you past all the little houses/farm areas, so you can't see the water anymore. This is also where a few people had parked their cars and started their walks from. We continued straight on and when we got to the fork in the road, we took the left path and a few minutes later you come across two metal gates with a little wooden step in the middle of them. It's not obvious that this is the way to continue on the path to get back to the side we started as there is no sign, but once you know it's there you can't miss it. You eventually end up back at the house from the start, but you come from the left. In total it took us about an hour and a half maybe, to walk round with no stops, walking at a normal, slightly quicker pace. The path for the most part is okay for pushchairs/wheelchairs i would say, we saw a couple of people with pushchairs. Towards the Goodrick road side entrance it can get a bit muddy, especially when it's rained, so you might find difficulty there and also if you follow the route over the little step that wouldn't be possible unless you had help to get them over the step, so i would recommend picking a different entrance to start with.. I believe you can enter from Harrogate Road or King Lane and i imagine the path will be much easier.

I started with a walk around the grounds and loved the spectacular view of the house from the field near the bottom cafe. The Stupa is something to see and behold, as is the story behind the erection of it. Finally, it was time to enter the house and to see the Christmas decorations and room displays in all their unadulterated glory! But just as wonderful as the displays was the warmth and enthusiasm of the volunteers who were there. They helped explain many of the details and were experts at taking photos for me! Be sure to step out on the lovely terrace garden beside the cafe in the house for beautiful views of the grounds. I had the most wonderful time at Harewood House and would strongly recommend visiting it not only at Christmas, but any time of the year.

The restaurant was very quiet. We didn't feel very welcome and the staff didn't escort us to our table and tell us that we needed to order at the bar. The dining area was nicely laid out but it took us a long time to find the right table. We enjoyed the food but did feel very rushed. A member of staff even thought it would be a good idea to offer to take our food away whilst we were halfway through our mains. Clearly she didn't want to be there and couldn't wait to go home. Although it only has limited parking we had no problems finding a space. We were greeted at the entrance by a friendly and informative guide who gave us a brief overview of the gardens and amenities. A lovely walk with little sculptures along the way, We saw gorgeous Alpacas, Donkeys, Goats, Brown Cows, Sheep and Chickens. My niece enjoyed the little playarea too. We didn't visit the cafe but the courtyard was lovely and well kept. Very Dog friendly! The small animal enclosure is closed at the moment, so if you want to see rabbits & guinea pigs I suggest you call to check if reopen. The bird viewing station with different level holes for viewing was great, including art work to look at. Overall a great day out with a puppy and 2 year old. We spent 4 hours exploring. Here mainly for the T20 cricket at Headingley on Fri 5/06/24. I think the city is awesome. We walked from the train station to very close to the Stadium where we had booked a hotel for the night. Less said about the Hotel, the better. It was a great couple of days, everywhere we went we relieved a warm welcome and everyone was so helpful. Pubs, cafes, and stadium staff were all brilliant. Any pubs you see in this review are really worth a visit so I won't name them Al as I have done individual reviews for them

The Hollies constitutes a mature arboretum, forest walks and stream-side trails that run along a stunning heavily wooded ridge of above the Meanwood Valley park. It also includes some formal gardens and tennis courts open to the public. The trails run a linear 2km towards the ring road but with the wide variety of paths that criss-cross up and down through the canopy it's possible to walk up to 6 or 7 kms if so desired. The main path is accessible to all, with the steeper forest paths much less so. This park is a wonderful forest retreat not 3 miles from Leeds city centre and feels rural enough to be somewhere in the Yorkshire dales albeit predominantly temperate rainforest in feel. Definitely recommend a visit whether you are a local or a visitor to the city and if you're lucky you may even find the redwood glade hidden away amongst the Douglas fir!!
