The zoo wasn’t as big as we thought it might be, so you could easily walk around in half a day but it was still packed full with lots to see. We met a few volunteers working at the zoo who were extremely knowledgable and obviously had a great passion for what they did. We attended some of their talks which were very interesting. It was great to see lots of the animals and big cats up close. I would have given 5* but I think certain areas of the zoo perhaps need a big of TLC, and some of the enclosures needed updating, with some of the larger animals seemingly needing bigger enclosures with more enrichment.

I’ve done a fair few distillery tours and this was by far the worst one I’ve ever been too. It’s relatively informative but the tour guide we had was rough. She basically yelled at us the entire time like she was leading an outdoor river cruise with no microphone. There were “jokes” in the script and it felt almost like she was trained to do a high energy tour, but has been imprisoned here for decades and it has drained all life and energy out of her. So now, she regurgitates the words but emotionless. Like an animatronic animal from an 80s theme park. The tour finished in about 40 minutes. The bar is fit out beautifully and the bartender was lovely. The gift shop was underwhelming and was manned by two ladies in the middle of a d&m and were all consumed. I get that these tours are feeders to buy more stuff (booze, bric-à-brac, etc) but whoever is in charge needs to revamp this entire process.

It's like a magical secret that Plymouth has kept well hidden for the sake of preservation and better still; mystery. It took my breath away when I first saw it. Due to its secretive nature it remains clean and unspoilt by those who may not appreciate historic hide aways such as this. The little arch way makes for a romantic kiss from your partner underneath it and welcomes you to explore the carvings etched into the walls (see image 2 of the ship). It backs onto some of the most historic buildings in Plymouth on the famous Barbican which literally means 'fortitude' and to know surprise given how well everything is protected and preserved. Highly recommend visiting this mysterious and yet welcoming suntrap of a garden where you will learn of its and the surrounding areas history!

They have open days throughout the year, but it is not open on a daily basis. They have live firing of cannons and rifles (all using blanks of course). A bad start to the night, but thought the food will pick it up. Starters, they were ok, although I did feel the scotch egg I had didn’t seem cooked enough but it tasted fine. Now onto the tomahawk steak. Requested it medium, and well I’m not saying I’m Jamie Oliver, but the steak was not medium. Well that was ok, probably the best course of the night. But wait, what’s this, a email asking my thoughts on the meal. Well I constructively gave my feedback thinking that I would get some sort of apology email. So up pops a email saying thanks for your feedback here is a voucher for a free starter or dessert. Please note, that this gift I was given was not cheap and I am so grateful for the family for it. It’s just a real shame the actual product and evening didn’t pan out as I hoped. Well I’m not saying I won’t go back, but it won’t be for a while that’s for sure. I'd never heard of it until I was looking around online for somewhere new to try, it's right on the waterfront on Plymouth Hoe but is hidden away down some steps behind a coffee shop I was pleasantly surprised when we went to try Maritimo for the first time! The venue is secluded and has an outdoor balcony above the water where you can sit, eat & drink above the sea with lovely views of the surrounding Plymouth sound & coastline - perfect if you want to dine outside on a hot summer's day! The food was of a good standard of quality & was decently priced (some of the dishes vary a bit depending on what you get) but overall, all of the dishes that I've tried so far have been very nice! With the nature of tapas, the dishes are quite small so I'd say 2-3 dishes are enough for one person, you can also order a variety of dishes & do trades with each other if you want to have a little try of more of the dishes! The chorizo with red wine sauce & the camembert dishes are definitely my favourites from what I've tried so far, I'll definitely be back to try more soon!

This is a good beach for fires and sunbathing however in the summer the car park does cost money and i’m guessing it will get very busy. Not a great beach but not bad either
