Such a lovely little museum with incredibly kind and helpful staff! I visited to research historic photos of Romford for my geography NEA, and the staff went above and beyond, providing me with so much information and even a few little goodies. It truly feels like a hidden gem!

Its a nice and neat little place you can go to if you want to learn about the history about romford as well as hornchurch and havering. Although the place is pretty small, they were kind enough to give me a mini tour and tell me what parts i was allowed to take photos of and what ones i wasnt. I liked the stuff they showed such as the miniature models and the different types of coins or shillings with facts of how people used them back then. There was some stuff you was allowed to interact with like the hand cuff/locks, the roman armour and shield, the puzzle of the old map of romford/kent etc. Nice place to check out if you're in romford

Visited there yesterday. The volunteers are very knowledgeable about the area and really went out of their way to find out extra info. I wanted to know more about Rainham Hall, and one of the staff went and printed out a load of info for me to read about it.
The museum is very informative on the different towns in Havering, and I would recommend others to visit.

Great park to go relax and have a walk around with a combination of water, woodland and open field space to break up your day.
Perfect place for a nice day out with the family or some quiet time alone.
There is free parking available across the road (but you have to register your stay via Ringo or the machine available or you will get a ticket)
The walk around the exterior of the park would take roughly 30 minutes. The children’s park is located in the opposite corner to the lake. There are also tennis courts available for free booking with information available in and around the courts on how to book them out.
There is a large green area for anyone looking to have a picnic or do outdoor sports. If you forgot your picnic or don’t want to bring your own food there is a lovely cafe located near the lake which you can visit with indoor and outdoor seating. From what I remember they are dog friendly also.
Overall a great park for use by all and well maintained by the grounds team.

We traveled from SE London watch DSUK the Dire Straits tribute band.
On arriving I thought the venue was small but it was perfect. The sound quality was amazing and the staff couldn’t have been nicer.
There was a mix up with our seats and Jean sorted it out for us with charm and a smile.

Went to see Beauty and the beast at the Brookside theatre this week. What a great show, we loved seeing a panto at Easter. Dame Fanny flapjack was amazing and her many , many dress changes impressed us greatly. I wish I was going to the adult version this weekend as I imagine it will be hilarious.

I visited for the first time with my family recently, and it's okay. The shows are affordable, and the drinks and snacks aren't too overpriced here. It is great to have something like this in the area.
However, there were some cons for us. The sound quality wasn't great. We saw School of Rock so being a musical, it was heavily reliant on the sound being good. The acoustics aren't great, which is forgivable for a small theatre, but the whole show, the vocals were quieter than the music, so it made it hard to hear most of the lyrics which was a shame.
And the worst con of them all was the chairs. My goodness, they are one of the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in. All of us were complaining of back ache and numb bottoms even just by the intermission. I personally found myself distracted by the discomfort I was experiencing and not being able to pay attention some of the time. It is a shame, and unfortunately for me, it has probably turned me off of the idea of returning unless there is something I desperately want to see that's worth the pain because it spoils the experience.
Other than that, all the staff were really lovely, it's clearly well looked after and it is a very sweet theatre, but it seems like it's going to be a one off for us. I will update if I ever go again and they've got new chairs 🤣

Went to the opening night of The Addams Family at The Brookside Theatre in Romford, what a night! the production far out weighed our expections. The cast portrayed the charactors perfectly and was hilariously funny and had some brilliant scenes. The production was worthy of any West End theatre without West End prices. Would highly recommend.

This theatre truly is a gem in the middle of Romford. I have been to a few shows here over the past few years including Elf, Peter Rabbit, Frozen, Disney School of Rock, Beauty and the Beast and I have just come back from The Twits. The quality of the shows are just amazing and I always leave with a big smile on my face and I can't wait to return. The theatre itself is lovely and very clean and has all you need with a car park right next door. This theatre holds a special place in my heart.

It was nice, maybe little known passage of the Liberty shopping centre, connecting its central hall with the Market Place. Nice, charming caffes, suitable for romantic rendezvous, also big shoe shop with really low prices for branded shoes, flight centre, health and beauty salons, several toys for children, etc. I was really surprised to find all that and hope to come here again. I came here on the weekend, to see the park and the museum. There is no charge to enter and I was surprised to find the amount of detail and exhibitions displayed here.
The ground floor has some information and models of the house. Upstairs has more information of specialised interest. I particularly liked seeing the artefacts of Vera Lynn, alongside a piece where you can hear some of her songs by just pressing a button. There are also some secondary sources of people speaking about work back I the day, or about their evacuation experiences during the Second World War.
I thought it was very nice here, they have a room with a gallery of oil paintings and elsewhere there are plenty of old fashioned items you can have a look at.
They closed for lunch between 12-1pm, but a staff member gave me a bookmark with a QR code in which I could use to have a look at whenever (it leads to the website with more information). I thought that was very appropriate, as I didn't bring a bookmark that day and had just started a new book. The bookmark even has a picture of a skull (I like that) 💀

Such a fantastic little gem of a museum. We love local museums like this because they tell the story of the area so perfectly. Love that the Dagenham Idol is there on display as well. I had a great time walking through a beautiful building hosting many items depicting the ages. From the early settlers, the monarchy, and the rise and fall of the abbots by king Henry VIII to owners of the house from the 1920's onward. Did you know that Mahatma Gandhi visited the place? A showcase of cultural diversity through modern times and the importance of the Ford motor company has had on the local community in Dagenham. The staff were courteous and considerate throughout our visit. Some events occur all year round, so pick up the event's pamphlet. Well worth a few stops as there is so much to see and experience. I should also mention they have a modern-day cafeteria and indoor and outdoor seating, well-kept sanitary toilets, and a souvenir shop to boot. Valence House has open-air gardens that have loads of seating and a place for tranquility. Parking is found at the Valence Park entrance leading to Valence House. I shall visit again.

What a lovely museum tucked away in Valance Park. I cant believe ive been in Barking for 5 years a missed this. Definitely worth visiting with children, I would say give atleast 2 hours. There is a lovely Cafe as well and a Museum shop. The House itself has several rooms to explore and the day we went they had a young persons adventure trail which included questions on each room so it got the kids really intrested!! I went to see the windmill with a group of local Cub Scouts. The volunteers from the windmill were so accommodating and friendly. They gave us a tour of the windmill and explained to us how it worked. We went around the windmill in small groups and each group had at least two guides. The guides were safety conscious and advised us all of the hazards, especially the children.
The windmill is not accessible to disabled people, mainly due to its age and design.
I thoroughly recommend visiting the windmill, see their website for open days.
There are beautiful gardens at the same location and I found them very inspiring.

Stopped off to see the windmill on Tuesday, 05th August 2025. Past this windmill for years, when it was closed and sail-less. Appears to be open more now that it's been restored, and the site includes plenty of parking and the buildings around the windmill are part of the museum. The stunning aspect of my visit was witnessing the sails unleashed, which, tbh, I had never seen before at windmill visits outside the Netherlands. Check the Website/Facebook site for opening days and times, as otherwise, though you can walk to the site, you won't be able to park next to it. When open parking is free. Very limited parking opportunities nearby if not open.

Everything is well organized, and there's the convenience of being able to eat inside. As expected from places like this, the food is more on the quick side, but it's surprisingly tasty. We visited Old MacDonald’s Farm with our two children (aged 4 and 2), and it was such a fantastic day out! The last time we came was just before my son turned one, and he was a little too young to appreciate the full experience, so I can honestly say the experience this time was so much better.
Both kids absolutely loved the rides – which I think is one of the best things about this farm. You don’t just get to see and interact with the animals (which they also enjoyed), but there are so many rides (some of which are even suitable for babies) and outdoor play areas that kept them fully engaged. It really does offer something for everyone.
There were plenty of opportunities to meet the animals (we did the rabbit encounter), and we were lucky to catch the summer circus too – my children really enjoyed that. The staff stood out as well; everyone we met was so kind and friendly, which made the experience even nicer.
On top of that, there are indoor soft play areas for rainy days, but we had sunny, warm weather so the kids made the most of the outdoor climbing frames and slides. We visited from 10am until 3pm, but honestly, you could easily spend the whole day here until closing. My tip would be to arrive early: start with the animals and then move on to the rides once they open at 11am.

Got there at 10:30am and received an informative welcome from reception
I was happily surprised that it was not very busy .
I was apprehensive about how many rides my daughter who is nearly two could go on
and yet out of everything available she only missed out on 5 attractions.
I love how detailed the park was and that there was just so many things to keep kids entertained for hours .
Cafe was really good with large portions of food that was not salty but full of flavour.
Staff loved interacting with the kids ,were really polite ,enthusiastic and took pride in their jobs.

Very very good value for the money and 100% worth it

A complete package of thrill, fun and exploration for the little explorers. The farm themed park has a lot to offer starting with family friendly yet thrill rides that little ones can’t simply resist. My little one enjoyed doing the happy horses, train ride and crazy barnyard ride - of of them couple of times. It has got a decent softplay area too right at the entrance, along side the cafe and icecream bars. The animated shows run throughout the day at the show barns and the adventure playgrounds are quite massive and located at the centre of the park. There’s one little explorers playground as well with lots or animal sheds nearby offering seating areas. My little daughter couldn’t only do the doggy roller coaster as the ride closed at 4pm only strictly, but for next time sure. We had an unmissable and unforgettable adventure time her in this park in Brentwood, for sure.

Returned for our annual.years Halloween visit.
Bit disappointed to find the Halloween walk through bit was closed off however realised upon checking that we were a day early. Decided to make the most of it and enjoy the rides.
Took some really lovely Halloween photos of my girls lots of perfect back drops and props available throughout the park
Staff were lovely especially the man on the train ride. Staff on both coffee stations were friendly and my daughter's both enjoyed a delicious custom made hot chocolates in after eight and unicorn.
Animals looked happy and with plenty of space to roam around. It was lovely to see the pig foraging for plants and eating on the grass.
Two lovely carousels, a rollercoaster and several other rides plus the staff make this place a really fun day out for all the family

We ate in the Paddick Restaurant something for everyone on the menu. The food was wholesome presented well and was very good. All the staff we encountered were very friendly professional and helpful. The racing was fantastic the dogs were looked after by the handlers. All in all a great evening value for money fun great atmosphere.

There is free entry on a Wednesday, but they offered a pack online for £10 each (Only for 18+) which includes a racecard, drink & quick bites meal (Cheeseburger / Hotdog & Fries) Plus re-entry with a racecard on a Friday/Saturday in the next 3months.
It's a really good deal, (burger on it's own was £4).
It's a shame they don't offer a deal for under 18's without the racecard though.

Love Romford, it's people and this shopping centre, situated just in the centre of Romford. It is 5 minutes walk from Romford railway station and many buses run nearby. Though at the moment there is no wheelchair accessible entrance, but that might be improved by the soon coming modernisation. All shops, coffees and resting places are on the Ground floor. No playground for children, but now there is exhibition of extinct prehistoric animals in their full-size and moving several parts of their bodies. Quite impressive for grown-ups, too!

We were originally going to visit the other side where the ducks were, but as soon as we saw there was a picnic area and a playground, we changed our minds. We had a wonderful time at Weald Country Park! We followed the Stick Man trail, which my daughter absolutely loved, and she was so excited to feed the ducks and deer with some carrots and apples. The forest walk is very nice and relaxing, a good way escape the Sun's heat in the summer. The forest and surrounding area is big you can encounter horse riding people, runners, dog walkers. There are open fileds for dogs to run around, to play ball games or just enjoy the Sun and have a picnic. You can easily enjoy a few hours here. There are several car parks around all pay and display or use the parking app on your phone. Shame they are paid instead of letting people enjoy nature for free. The main car park at the visitor center is big, here you'll find toilets and a caferia with food. To Brentwood center by car is less then 10 minutes drive or you can do a walkof aproximately 40-50 minutes. There is no direct access to the A12 from the park.

Such an amazing experience in a beautiful farm! You can tell the area is very well maintained by all those that work and volunteer here. The animals are loved and look so happy!
We had the pleasure to meet a young volunteer who answered a lot of my eldest daughters questions, he was very informative and you could tell he loves what he does! We also had the loveliest pleasure to meet Stacy! She saw that my children were so excited and offered an animal encounter for only £3 per child! My children had such a lovely experience with the goats and felt so happy and content by the end of it. Stacy gave us heaps of information about the beautiful young goats, you could sense how passionate she is about what she does! As we left, my youngest even started wailing because she didn't want to leave!

On our arrival we were met with confusion. Very unclear what to do or what was going on. Animals were fine however they looked miserable which matched the expression of the workers/voulunteers. I understand they choose to do this but you could at least put on a smile. Not really a sense of community and the volunteers were more focused on their phones and watching us. We arrived about midday for our first visit to this Essex Wildlife Trust site. The car park was fairly full but we found a space easily. There is a small walk from the carpark to the cafe, passing the Red deer enclosure, a number of deer were close to the fence, being fed by families. The weather was still a bit chilly but the sun was out. We started at the café that serves hot food, teas and cakes. After a coffee to warm us up we wandered down hill to the cow pond where there was a verity of geese and ducks and a couple of bench seats. We then walked back up the rear side of the deer enclosure back to the car. In all we spent a good couple of hours here but will return later in the year.

A scheduled Ancient Monument - Upminster Tithe Barn Museum of Nostalgia - is standing tall & wide by very poorly maintained Upminster Hall Visitors Car Park! Apart from a sign by the entrance - which is naturally missed by many - there is no other signs or interpretation text displaying this unique historic landmark and currently being used as a museum! And often, visitors to the playing fields do not know about the Tithe Barn even though parking their car right next to it!
Tithe Barn dates from the 15th Century. It is used as an Agricultural and Folk Musuem managed by the Hornchurch & District Historical Society. As per the website, The museum holds around 14,500 artifacts of domestic and agricultural use, ranging from Roman times to the present day.
Sadly, it is closed and no opening dates announced for 2022! Hope, there will be openings soon!

Although the barn itself is 572 years old, the museum is actually a treasure trove of recent history with the collection a mish-mash of stuff from around approx the last 150 years. Take your grandparents and/or mum and dad if they are over 60 and they will love it as they will see tonnes of stuff they remember from their childhood...hence the name of the place (nostalgia). The Park is what you would exepct in an urbanised town. It offers a decent bit of green space for people to partake in sports/dog walking, although this has been limted due to the recent constuction of hills. it also connects to the country park which is beautful.
The park contains a few playgrounds which are kept in an alright condition. its good if you are taking the kids out for a day out to the park.
The park would be nice during the summer for picnics with friends/family. Although I can't comment on the toilet facilties, I believe there may be some open near the golf course.
The only thing I would be careful about is the loitering hooligans that sit in the park and stare at you for no reason towards the evening hours, as well as burnt out motorbikes/mopeds. This is at no fault of the park itself but it would be nice if police presence was increased.

Had such a a great experience with pfg. Came in with a poster that needed some love, Sam and his colleague were amazing and generous with their time. Sam gave me a lot of information relating to the poster and artist, gave me a few options and helped me decide what was best. Super welcoming and of course the end result is beyond any expectation I had. Can't recommend these guys enough. They also have some of the most interesting art inside the shop.
