I was in Huddersfield visiting family and had seen a few records on the shops website I wanted. I arranged to buy them and pick them up whilst in town. I also had 50+ records I was looking to sell so emailed the store and arranged to take them in to be viewed and valued. The shop itself is great for browsing with plenty of stock and pricing is very good. All the records are kept in the racks in an outer sleeve so everything is prestine (if new as the shop does sell pre owned). The staff were friendly and helpful in dealing with both my selling and buying queries (the iron maiden records I bought are fantastic and a great price). I left my records with them over the bank holiday and they gave me a very fair offer which I accepted and was paid within 15 mins of accepting the offer in store. From all aspects of vinyl selling/buying this was a great experience. Not to mention the downstairs wasn't open which is a trove of vinyl, I'll definitely try to make it there for a visit next time!

I’d say it is generally suitable for an autistic child, and for anyone who is disabled, and we saw lots of disabled visitors whilst we were there too. It was nice to be able to let my son wander and explore fairly safely and follow his lead. Whilst there were areas that my child was able to engage with, such as anything that had a button he could press or some of the more visual areas, there were probably too many simple buttons where it was just simple cause and effect rather than things that can be manipulated, moved or transformed in order to understand what they were trying to communicate. A large proportion of the attraction also relies on a child’s imaginary play ability, such as the small world area with the shop, bank and house, which is not always suitable for an autistic learner unless there are more physical or scaffolded elements to it. There could be more adaptations made for different types of learners in general. It was also a shame to not see any letters, numbers or shapes as part of the broader learning experience. More visuals paired with text would also be useful for some autistic learners in order to offer clarity. The area where there’s a ‘dark forest’ for example could have benefitted from text or audio instructions on how to play and interact with the attraction and would have helped my son to understand what to do. The toileting facilities were too scant, and the loud hand dryers are also an issue in terms of sensory sensitivities. The ‘change and feed room’ could have done with a toilet inside too where I could have changed both my four year old and five month old at the same time safely and without distraction or noise, and used the facilities myself. The outside area has an absolutely giant sand pit, which I think takes up space that could be put to better use.

It's only a small house but is full of atmosphere. It probably took a little less than an hour to go round thoroughly. The staff were very pleasant without being in your face. The out buildings are set up like an apothecary, a small house, coopers, blacksmiths etc. It costs £10 for adults or £7.50 for concessions (might have had child prices too but I can't remember ). There is a small shop at the end that sells the usual novelties plus coffees and teas. I didn't see any cakes or other food on offer but there's a nice room to sit at tables and enjoy your drinks. It was a wet Thursday afternoon at the beginning of June so maybe they offer more in high season. I don't know. At the bottom of the hill, near the pond and the bottom car park, there is a very large cafe selling drinks, cakes, lunches etc. Unfortunately we had parked at the top car park. Although this is nearer to the Hall itself, it is almost half a mile downhill to the cafe from there - and uphill all the way back!!! There is disabled parking near to the house. Spent a good few hours there but sure i didn't see everything. The house itself is truly incredible as are the staff and volunteers who make any visit a pleasure they are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the Lister family and the history of the house. My friend is a huge fan of the show Gentleman Jack and when she was visiting the UK this is the main place she wanted to visit! I'm so glad and so grateful that I was able to visit here! We spent from 11am until 2pm exploring! And we could've spent an hour longer but had to leave due to our train times. The place is incredible but please do be aware that if you're planning on walking (like my friend and I did) it is entirely uphill! Literally all of it 😂 and then going back is all downhill! Now I'm not a hiker and I've always wanted to hike but I was seriously not prepared 😅. However that being said, it was absolutely worth the trek and id love to go again (with more comfy shoes)! Highly recommend if you're a fan of Anne Lister, Gentleman Jack or just historic houses!

It is a remarkable building, well preserved though heavily modified through its life. Made globally famous by 'Gentleman Jack' but there is much more to learn. I have known Shibden for more than fifty years, having visited from a very early age. The folk museum was created in the fifties and is of its time, don't expect Beamish or you will be dissapointed. Access to the hall is best gained by parking in the upper carpark, not directly accesible from the main park, although you can walk up. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable and as you may infer I have a nostalgic attachment to the place. I have had latte, cappuccino, mocha even ventured to have the much controversial drink of the Genz 'Matcha' Unlike the other coffee joints that use Matcha syrup, this place has got authentic Matcha taste with it's grainy texture. Milk coffees are rich and creamy. Recently I ordered their Iced mocha latte and savoured every sip of it. I love clicking photos of coffee, particularly when presented beautifully and here's a few of them from the Temperance! If you are in and around Halifax, Temperance might be a good place to hang out whilst treating yourself to some good coffee!

Having never had Korean food before thought I'd pop in here and have little taste. Wow! Not disappointed with any of it. 3 of us went in and we all ate different things so we could get a flavour of starters and mains. One of us had crispy fried cauliflower, the other a crispy spicy chicken and I had spicy pork Japchae. All were superb. The cauliflower and the chicken were extremely light, very crispy and extremely tasty. The Japchae was incredible, I thought it would be too spicy but it could have actually been a bit more spicy. Having said that it was amazing. The taste, the heat, the all round balance was incredible. I will definitely be back.

If you visit soon make sure you sign the petition to keep it open, I was working in Huddersfield for the week I actually live in Sheffield. If I return next year hopefully it will still be open and I can enjoy a fair priced full English once again at The Snack Shack.
