It's gone through a few growing pains in that time, and a few chefs to boot, but I have to say that they seem to have found their stride in general offering a great lunch spot in Huddersfield. It brings the vibe of a Leeds coffee house to Huddersfield. The drinks offerings are fantastic and as far as I know they try to support UK or local suppliers and growers. My favourite place for a meat-free full English. It can occasionally be a bit chilly in there if you're staying longer than an hour - I wonder if they would invest in better heating or blankets? Service often top-notch, one or two front of house members really stand out in terms of how attentive they are and how well they look after you. Once you've been more than twice they're more than likely to remember you which is damn impressive because I'm willing to bet they have a lot of regulars at this point. Regular seasonal menu reviews as far as I'm aware which keeps things fresh. Try their supper clubs for a special night out - if you're a foodie you'll love it. Keep it up guys :)

I was over the moon when I found this place especially when I realised its just down the street from me! Staff are amazing; kind and attentive. Its kid friendly and there is decent parking behind. When we arrived I did think we’d be greeted a bit speedier in the bar but no worries. Staff were friendly enough and sat us down and didn’t rush us to take our order. I felt they could however have been on the ball more with clearing glasses as the table was full enough with menus etc plus the table was on a slope. This meant the ice melt from the water jug was dripping onto us. I felt the placement of our table meant the waiters/waitresses had to kind of squeeze past and we felt inclined to sit forward every time someone needed to pass. We should have been on the back wall where there was a four and a two. The food was amazing, all of us had something different. I just felt that the small things, like the table placement, make a big difference in somewhere like this when you’re spending that kind of money, which is the only reason I have given three stars.

The food is beautiful and literally with every bite you take you can taste different flavours which feels refreshing. The place is busy but the customer service is really good. They accommodated us with halal options and told us which dishes would be popular. Only downside is we need more of that salted caramel ice cream the buttery taste will fly you away! It's been slowly declining and has now reached rediculos levels I ordered a chicken burger side of coleslaw and a side of onion rings. The burger which is described as double stacked with butter milk fried chicken brest but it turned up with one small chicken tender in a large bun. Onion rings were doughie undercooked and compleatly unseasoned and anemic looking and half the previous portion size Coleslaw was again compleatly unseasoned and the portion size has been cut in half Called the resturant who were appologetic and advised they could do nothing as was ordered through just eat I asked if a replacement could be sent out and was told I'd have to order another one trough just eat and apply for a refund on the first one. I said politely that it was unfortunate as a regular customer that no effort was being made and that I probably wouldn't be ordering again The conversation ended there without any effort to make anything better from the resturant just lists of what they can't do. Got off the phone took one bite and realised the chicken was so over cooked it was compleatly dry and the bun was stale Chucked the lot in the bin and am now £22 quid lighter and contemplating what to cook which was what I was trying to avoid on my day off The fries were quite nice but very greasy Cheers Harvey's won't be rushing back lol

Only marked the atmosphere down as there were some incredibly loud tables of drinkers within the dining area that spoiled it for us, however it was around 8pm on a Friday night at that point to be fair so in future I would make sure to leave earlier before the bar element of the place comes in and would recommend anyone wanting a nice chilled dining experience to go earlier too, as it's quite a small place so when things get raucous it really has an impact. The food was very tasty and decent portion sizes too with a good selection of vegetarian options too. The service was good and friendly. I ordered the Smokehouse Pulled Sandwich & Ribs, which were amazing. The meat just came off the bone and sauce was amazing! As I don’t eat halal, I was restricted to certain dishes as the Chicken & Lamb were halal so a bit disappointed that I couldn’t try the wings and lamb dishes. Our bill came to just over £63 for 4 adults and 2 children. Would we go back? Oh yes and I hope they could also serve non-halal chicken and lamb so I can try the other dishes!

The Wacky Warehouse is still there which is a good play gym for kids. The new environment has created a cosy surroundings to relax and enjoy a meal.The menu has changed with a greater emphasis on steaks and burgers. However, the issue still remains as I mentioned a year ago regarding the availabilty of items on the menu. On the evening we went no fish dishes were available. So there was no salmon, no seafood grill or fish and chips. Also the fish pie which I have enjoyed at the High Park is no longer on the menu. Our party of 4 all had steaks which were cooked to our satisfaction. They came with half a roasted garlic, vine tomatoes, chargrilled vegetables and either a side salad or one of a selection of fries. Mushrooms are not an option and onion rings are an extra. Personally I would ditch the roast garlic as it did not go well with the steak. We managed to get a jacket potato although not on the menu but new potatoes are no longer available. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall we enjoyed our evening and will return.

Was greeted promptly and shown to a table, staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a slightly odd strong chlorine smell at first, which was a bit off-putting, but dissipated after a while. There's a fair amount of seating inside and an abundance of it outside, looking out to the fields and open spaces behind the pub. During winter the fireplace(s) are used if you like to sit next to a crackling fire. The venue is dog friendly. Service is pleasant. Menu seems to change from time to time so it's hard to recommend specific items as they may be gone by the time you visit. Taste-wise the food ranges between ok and great with my favourite dish being the slow cooked braised beef with mash and gravy. The food is quite a good value with large portions and sensible prices. The one thing to improve upon would be to adjust the cooking times so that the pastry on your pie isn't hard and chicken burger is not so well done (not to say burnt).

If you’ve never been before the staff will bed you in nicely to how the protocol goes down. Unlimited salad bar with lots to choose from all freshly prepared, with dips and toppings too. My favourite was the ‘Acem Comprido - Beef Shoulder’ altho the ‘Cordeiro - Minted Lamb’ was pretty divine too and the ‘Picanha Rump’ was very succulent! All the meat was incredible, well seasoned and very very tasty! Also loved the grilled pineapple. The cocktails slipped down all too easy, highly recommend the passionfruit twist on the Brazilian classic. We decided on the £15.95 3 course set menu. The place was empty but we got there early, it’s a little dated inside but the staff are so lovely. The popadom and chutneys weren’t the best, for starters we had onion bahji which wasn’t great but the meat and aloo tiki was lovely, it’s kind of a seasoned mash potatoe deep fried both with side salads. Then for main we had lamb Nawaabi which was absolutely gorgeous and full of flavour and a chicken Achari which was very unusual, different and couldn’t work out what spice but really enjoyable. The peshwari naan was one of my faves - it had pistachios in it i think and was a perfect accompaniment, alongside the pilau rice. We were then offered tea/coffee, hot clothes and a mint chocolate. The staff are so sweet and helpful. We took a doggy bag home as couldn’t manage to eat everything.

Ben has done wonders with the place turning it into a swanky, welcoming restaurant with great decor, quality glassware and a good feel. The food was even better than before (which had always been very good); the short-rib ragu was excellent and my nduja pizza was spicy and tasty. The prices have increased somewhat, but previously had been ridiculously cheap, so it's now pitched in line with comparable restaurants in the area. A decent wine list included a very enjoyable Primitivo. Wines start at £25, so no budget offering- but I guess that's not the market they're chasing anyway. Staff were attentive and friendly, and there's a 10% service charge automatically added to bills. They still offer an early bird deal which provides excellent value Tues/Thursday. My only slight negatives are that better quality napkins would fit the restaurant better, and it was a little too loud for my preference (though it was packed, so that should be expected). Its stunning, classy, comfortable and the food and management are exceptional. I planned a surprise 50th meal for one of my best friends & her Son & Daughter and the manager/assistant manager were absolutely brilliant. They went over & above & she had a really special evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody as it is a proper hidden gem in Almondbury. Have never eaten at a Thai restaurant before so have nothing to compare too - however the food was incredible. Full of flavour, good solid portion sizing and for what I ordered - very well priced too. Had a starter of spring rolls (you got 4) followed by Sesame Chicken & Rice. The staff were lovely and so polite - service was a little slow as there was a few customers in but honestly with how good the food was and the staff being so friendly I didn't mind at all. Unfortunately the draught Pilsner was flavourless and served in a measly 2/3 of a pint glass for £5.50. We were sat near the windows and it wasn’t very warm, the fact they’ve done the whole front of the restaurant in glass doesn’t help. The starters that followed were equally disappointing. Everything was served on miniature plates, it was like eating off dolls house crockery. Lots of the starters were basically deep fried breaded bites with minimal garnish or fresh vegetables. Very basic and uninspiring. The pizzas were ok but nothing to write home about, yes the crust was lovely and toasted but the centre was wet and sloppy. Also the ingredients used for toppings didn’t feel very premium considering the cost. My daughter had a dessert which was again miniature, in a miniature bowl. Overall not overly impressed and it’s unlikely I’d visit again.
