Easy, wide and well maintained. We rode our fat tire bikes and connected from the north end of Shoal creek trail. Overall it’s a great ride, walk or run, although it is super crowded especially on the weekends. The massive crowds are probably the only downside as you have to really pay attention and don’t have as much time to enjoy the scenery. You just need to be patient, and take your time. We made a stop at Ziker botanical gardens which was decent and they have a place to park your bike. We also stopped for lunch at Tumble 22 on the way back. The closest parking is the Orange Garage so the walk over is quick. Breakfast or dinner, it is a nice, clean place with a good vibe and good food. The setting at night is much better as they have live music most nights and put up the garage shutter so you can hear it from their outdoor portion as well. On the breakfast side of things we sat quickly and service was okay. We ordered the Texas breakfast tacos and the pancakes, hash browns, and bacon a la carte. The breakfast tacos were good. We got them with brisket and the portion was huge, although we wish it came with three tortillas instead of two because it was more than we could fit into them. The eggs, cheese, and brisket all came together and despite what reads as a smaller dish, we were pretty full by it. As for the pancakes, hash browns, and bacon; all were pretty classic versions of them. The pancakes were good, thin and sweet. The hash browns were cooked well with a slight crunch and the bacon was the highlight of the three, full of flavor with a nice chew and crisp. We also ordered chocolate milk, but whatever we got was NOT chocolate milk. It was closer to a frothed drink and had cinnamon in it which was a bit strange. The waitress could clearly see we were not feeling it and she comped it on our bill which was very, very nice of her to do without asking. The dinner here is much better than the breakfast admittedly. The live music certainly helps and the vibe with the low lighting gives it a very nice feel when dining. We had the country fried steak and LSC burger, both very good. The country fried steak was one of the better ones we’ve had here, extremely savory and the fries were good too. The burger was juicy and full of flavor as well. Beware the fries here are really home fries or cubed fries in case geometry is not your thing. Ultimately, The Water Trough is a very good place to eat at and is probably a bit overlooked due to its location in The Domain, but between solid food and good live music scene, we don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to stop by. We’d recommend this spot as an alternative to the hustle and bustle of the north Domain and for those preferring a more relaxed and intimate night of food and music.

I explore, you see, I travel for work and while on the company dime, I see as much of America that I can possibly take in a few hours at a time. Austin to me looks beautiful. Lou Neff was the pinnacle of observation for my stay here. It's a great place to end up, with places like the pool, mini railroad for the kids, and multitudes of other attractions. Parking on the weekends is free until 8 am, I suggest you get here early before full sun rise to take some lovely pictures of the Austin skyline with the Colorado River in the foreground.

It is very pleasant and Lou Neff Point was beautiful! The gazebo was stunning. We took photos with the Austin skyline behind us. We walked down the path along the river, along the banks of the river and discover a couple turtles. As we watched, the turtles keep swimming up. There were easily 30 turtles, with more coming as we left. Highly recommend to tourists and to natives who haven't been.

The setting is relaxed and inviting — perfect for catching up or winding down. That said, there are a few things to note. Wine isn’t included in the happy hour specials, which is a bit of a letdown. Also, I really miss the turkey sandwich — it used to be a standout, but it’s since been removed from the menu. On a recent visit, I gave the burger a try but probably wouldn’t order it again. They changed the recipes and the gnocchi that I literally craved weekly is different, same with the ricotta appetizer. I brought my mom and everything we ordered wasn’t even worth eating. Her oysters were covered in chili oil, the bread with the ricotta isn’t the nice sourdough that they used to have, the wedge was good but soooo spicy, and the gnocchi was a different recipe and mushy. So disappointed because this was one of my favorite places to bring visitors.

My first impression was during dinner time around 9 pm. We had a long night and were starving. There was no one at the front of the house and we just stood there for a good 5 mins and the staff could see us but no one came to sit or let us know an ETA. After a while my guest and I just decided to sit down and wait. We had to ask someone who was cleaning a table next to us for a server. We came here because we were staying at the hotel next door. I had high hopes for the food so continued to get grilled artichokes as a starter. It's a strange starter. The flavor was delicious however the way it was cooked was very unorthodox in my opinion. The artichoke was just put on the grill and not boiled. This caused it to be extremely hard to eat. I wanted to stop trying to eat it but the flavor was delicious. I would warn anyone who wants to try this starter to BE CAREFUL the leaves are basically impossible to eat except a small portion of it but it is packed with flavor strangely. PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHOKE ON THEM. (I'm sure there's a pun in there somewhere) I got the burger with fries. The burger was definitely the highlight of the night. It was delicious and I would definitely recommend it. The fries were half fresh and half cold. I would say to try another side. My guest got the tagliatelle. It was alright the noodles were a bit over cooked. The sauce was light and decent. There were some pieces of potato that were in the dish for some reason. We just wish there was more meat. The next day we had breakfast before checkout and it definitely was a better experience. There was someone in the front of the house who took care of us right away. We got the greek parfait and hash browns to share. They both were delicious and I would recommend these. I got the French toast and I would not recommend it. It was very soggy and the coffee flavor was overwhelming. It's sad because the bread that wasn't soggy had an amazing texture that I wish was throughout the dish. I feel this could have been easily avoided if they just gave me the syrup on the side. My guest got the breakfast burrito and hands down it was way better than my dish. I would recommend the burrito. The salsa served was top notch delicious. Worth a try.
