The accomodation and meal were faultless. We had one of the bedroom suites and it was spacious and comfortable. The food was very well planned and executed across all the dishes we tried. Fantastic flavours and presentation. The service was helpful and good humored. Even the breakfast the next morning was a step up from what might have been expected. Considering the level of the entire Cornish Arms experience, the prices are more than reasonable. We look forward to more stays and meals in the future.

The latest meal (for four of us) was excellent, all of us had different dishes and all were good. The service is attentive but sensible. I wish I had photographed our mains which were the chicken curry (best pub curry I’ve ever had) and the Moroccan lamb belly which was also insanely good. We had the beef brisket croquettes to start which were served with dill pickles and a jalapeño mayo (pictured). Having eaten at many pubs in the area, it’s pretty unmatched. One thing I would say I would love the pub to have a more traditional look with the decor. There’s nothing better than a pub with exceptional food which feels authentically old and traditional. Chose this place based on reviews of the food. On arrival there was dedicated parking for guests, which was a good start. We were shown to our room promptly. The room was very spacious and well appointed. The free decanter of sherry was a nice touch. However, the room wasn't very warm. I pointed this out to the member of staff who then sorted this out. However, by late afternoon the heating had gone off. It was a dull, rainy October day so we weren't exactly comfortable. We dined in the restaurant on both nights and the food was exceptional, high end restaurant quality. However, the same can't be said for breakfast. My wife and I do these trips fairly regularly and I have never been served a breakfast with so much salt. I did point this out and was offered a replacement but who wants to wait around for breakfast! Also, very unusual these days that no set veggie option on the breakfast menu. No heating came on in the morning but came on after I complained only to go off again late afternoon, not great. The WiFi was slow and we kept losing signal making it difficult to stream films. On a positive note, apart from the temperature issue the hotel is vey well appointed and comfortably with a welcoming log fire, real ales a available and friendly and efficient staff.

Our second visit here. Dog friendly which was great. They left a bowl, towel and treats for the dog in the room and he's allowed to pad around the gardens. Great rooms. We were in the dog friendly coach house conversion. Fantastic food. Supper never disappoints. Fantastic views from the terrace with a glass of wine and then supper overlooking the valley. Breakfast was delicious but service not so great and buffet items not replenished. Had to keep asking for things. Otherwise fantastic.

Unfortunately the portion sizes have been slashed and we were all hungry again within an hour or two - not great considering the price. Some of the kitchen team need to remember that they work in an open kitchen and that customers can see them and (most apparent for this visit) that they can also hear them. Calamari starter was lovely and they have made it their own. Rib-eye steak lacked wow factor on first look and was backed up but being over cooked- medium well but was ordered medium rare 😔 Slaw was tasty but mushroom rubbery. Dessert was lovely and they did their best the make it a slightly bigger portion as we were sharing and to apologise for what was overheard in the kitchen. Would love to come back if the place and staff take a more professional approach to the job.

It did not disappoint, staff were really welcoming and friendly, we had our 3 bullies with us and they arranged a great table for us so they could get comfy and not be in the way. It’s dog friendly but the food was superb. The service efficient and friendly from all who dealt with us. A party of 3 and we all ate different things. I can vouch for the chicken pie. It was well filled and a more than adequate portion size. My son ate the butter chicken burger, again this was well presented and great portion size. My daughter had the roast beef. I had good envy. Her beef was cooked perfectly and the vegetable accompaniment for the dinners was a fresh and colourful medley with greta flavours. We will definitely be back!

We hadn't booked a table for dinner, but as we had arrived early, the staff did everything they could to kindly accommodate us. Top quality and super fresh local ales and lager. Jail Ale in particular was very good. Food was absolutely delicious and I would wholly recommend the steak and stilton pie. Dessert was also really very good. Decent sized portions all round. Service was excellent at the bar and table. Would definitely return. I recommend making a booking if you would like a table.

We were greeted by friendly, efficient staff. We didn't have to wait long for orders to be taken. The food came out quite quickly and we all really enjoyed our meals. Lack of food was the issue. Having booked a table, stating it was for Sunday roast, we arrived, greeted by a stoney faced waitress, to be told there were no roasts. Not just that but having been told this we were left at the door with no further information. It’s a shame when previously roasts were available till late in the afternoon. An apology was offered, and told food was available but only fish and chips, pizza or a sandwich, not something we had in mind when making a booking at pre 11am. Why a review, when booking double check they have food, and on a Sunday when they anticipate roasts will run out. If we had been told they had limited numbers we could easily have made it earlier. Shame, as normally both the food and service are great. Maybe a bad day for them but defo made it one for us. No roasts available anywhere else but had a great time at The Blacksmiths Arms, Lamerton, where there was plenty of excellent food and lovely welcoming staff.

We stopped on recommendation from the Granite way cycle hire staff, and it's so worth it! We had a stunning family meal, well presented and full of flavour. We had our wedding celebration and night at Hotel Endsleigh and I can honestly say it was the most perfect setting ever. All of the desserts were incredible - we tried the carrot cake, sticky toffee pud, and Autumn diplomat. They were genuinely the best desserts we've had in Plymouth. A great range of cocktails and drinks. The 'Death by Chocolate' was a perfect after dinner tipple, and very boozy! The barman who created the cocktail was very passionate and knowledgeable. A completely flawless evening, we can't wait to go back!

The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, and the food was ok to good (mixed grill needs more substance for the amount they're charging), but the rest of the food was good and the menu had variety. However, my biggest complaint was that their dog bit my daughter and when my wife mentioned this to the woman behind the bar as we had left, she just smiled and didn't even attempt to say anything. The same dog was scrounging around the table and when it tried to crawl under it while we were eating and I blocked it with my leg, it started growling at me. I appreciate it may well be a young dog, however, if it's not good around kids, don't have it roaming around the bloody bar, because the next person it bites, might well complain to the police and have the thing destroyed! It's very difficult to support local businesses when they do so little to help themselves, and I'm beginning to understand why the few times I've been in The Royal Standard, it's so quiet. This is word for word, the review I left for The Royal Standard - and got called a liar, told my daughter encouraged the dog to bite her by feeding it (my daughter didn't feed the dog at all) and basically rounded on by the owners and their obvious friends who have left 5 star ratings on their facebook page. I would avoid this place at all costs, as despite the food and menu being pretty good, the owners are completely unprofessional if you're not being complimentary about their establishment. There are several pubs along the same road, and I suggest giving one of those a try instead.

I got a giant steak pasty which came with salad on the side and coleslaw, my mum for a baked potato which also came with salad. The prices were reasonable for a sit down meal. My partner had the small at £10 plus unknowingly paid extra for the cauliflower cheese whilst I went for the large portion at £18.95.....large means one extra potatoe and half a slice more of bland beef Overall the food was tasteless and not worth the £30. On the plus side the tea was quite good !!! Would we visit again...no Would we recommend...defintely no. We have paid way less for a carvery where the meat was succulent,veg and potatoes cooked to perfection.

Very central if you are wanting to go and look at all the lovely shops in Tavistock and the sights. Unfortunately, we did not have time to look around but would love to return. I would have given five stars but we thought going by the website there was a dedicated car park nearby but it was the co-op car park more or less next door. You could park in there between 6 pm and 7 a.m I think it was, but if you were going out in the evening, you could not get out as it was locked. I had asked the young chap at the bar about breakfast and parking but he did not have the answer for either of my questions except to say that they are advised to recommend the car park next door which is payable , however we did find out if you park between 6 pm and 7 am there is no charge but we did not chance it because we would have to know that we were going to leave the car park exactly 7 am so we didn't chance that. We did however find a free parking spot in a road almost opposite which was between 6 pm and 10 am I think it was and we were fine there. They are actually 45 minutes parking, but as we parked after 6 pm, we were okay. I have deducted the fifth star due to the fact that on arrival we were both given keys to our rooms and my sister went into hers but when I went into mine I realised it was already occupied with somebody’s luggage and clearly the bed had been slept in. I was just grateful that the occupants were not in that room at that time as I would have been mortified. I went down to the bar and explained to the young chap and he looked very surprised then gave me the key for the room that I should’ve had. All in all mistakes do happen at times but had it not been for those issues. I would’ve given five stars and I would return again if ever I was in the area.

When we arrived earlier than planned, there was a lovely slightly older lady on the reception desk. We asked if we could park our car in the hotel car park early, the lady was lovely and said it was absolutely fine and took our registration plate number to link it to us as guests using the hotel. I will add now that the gates with the cars inside are locked at midnight, which I think is brilliant. We arrived back after walking around tavistock for a while and checked into our rooms. We were expecting to have baths in our rooms, especially as we paid over £150 each. Unfortunately, we both had walk-in showers. The rooms themselves were very small in one of our rooms you couldn't open the built-in wardrobe as there were chairs in the way, which were bulky to move and were in the way once you did move them. As expected, there were complimentary tea and coffee sachets, brown and white sugar, and sweetener, however, having stayed at many other hotels of a similar and cheaper prices I would have expected a nesperesso machine or similar - especially given the bedfords reputation. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. A little before 5am with my mum and I (in different rooms) were awoken by what sounded like a horse running around this went on for a good half hour and then it sounded like someone was banging on the wall or door up there. It proceeded to be noisy, so I just got out of bed. Missing out on my lay in and relaxation, which is a reason we booked having children at home, 2 of which have additional needs and are quite noisy! The food, drink, and outside areas. The dinner was outstanding, and the desserts were absolutely incredible. The wine was lovely. I wish the cocktail was made from scratch and not a mixer, though. Breakfast was very fresh and well presented. Our waitress was absolutely lovely. I can't remember her name, but she wore braids on either side of her head and beautiful earrings. This lady is an absolute credit to the establishment. Outside, you have a front garden next to the road, which can get noisy, but it's a nice little seating area if you want to pop out quickly around the back of the hotel you have a walled garden which is over a little bridge with a river flowing beneath which is absolutely beautiful so quiet and peaceful. When it came to leaving, we were asked how our stay was by a slightly younger receptionist. I explained it was noisy with the people above banging around, and she really didn't seem to care and brushed it off pretty quickly, which was sad again given the bedford reputation. Four of us booked for the occasion. It was EXTREMELY warm that day ( which didn’t help as no room fans were provided ) ..@£25 pp I /we were pretty disappointed. No crisp white napkins, just paper serviettes . Everyday Average crockery and NO additional side plate or cutlery separating your savoury from your sweet! We had to use the same one . The sandwiches were delicious and fresh, as was the slice of home made we believe sausage roll. I/ we’d NEVER ever of expected an onion bhaji to be served .. three of us didn’t attempt that surprise ~ surely possibly a slice of pork pie would have been more appropriate and traditional!! For the price tag I was certainly very disappointed, more so as we believed that The Hotel was the founder of the Scone many many decades ago ( it’s worth reading the history) However- the scones were very light and enjoyed by all. The clotted cream was presented in its shop shelf Tub, opposed to in an appropriate side dish . Overall satisfaction? It’s a firm NO . A Great Shame and we certainly couldn’t recommend the High Tea experience of The Bedford Hotel. I’m not sure the other couple on the table next to us were best impressed either .. as an anniversary gift from their daughter. Pretty substandard for such a grand looking Hotel .

They were extremely busy as you would expect however the staff had a great system set up which meant service was fast and efficient. The chips were really good quality, I also had a plain sausage and fish cake which were also really good. They do take orders by phone as well and party orders can be delivered. The menu is extensive, there is limited indoor seating as well.

Oggy Oggy did not disappoint. The flavour was amazing I sat in and had my pasty with chips and it all came out piping hot. The only items that had any flavour and were passable,were the Bombay Aloo and Bhindi Bhajee the rest was a waste of money,and most ended up in the bin. On the plus size the portions were a good size but to us flavour is paramount and pretty much the whole meal fell very short. We won't return,what a waste of £50,for a very upset stomach.

Really great value with a nicely cooked soft egg yolk too. As we are retired and on a fixed budget, it represented very good value for money as a lunch. We asked about alergies and the starters were coated in wheat and dairy containing batter. The rice was undercooked and not edible.
