As it was a warm day, we sat outside, but close to the building. There were a good number of other diners, showing how popular the place is, with plenty of seating options, as well as seating inside. My Grandmother selected from the seniors, two course, options, choosing fish and chips, followed by ice cream (£6.99), whilst I had a cheeseburger from the lunch meal deals, which meant it came with chips and a drink for £8.49. The food arrived within a reasonable time and was nicely presented, though my Grandmother’s fish was very small, meaning it was quite a lot of batter and not much fish. Despite this, she said it was nice and was enough for her. The burger was tasty and the fries were also nice. Unfortunately, the table we sat at seemed to have gnats or something hiding underneath as I was bitten on the ankles about three times whilst there, which dampened my enjoyment, and there was also a yapping dog at another table, which annoyed my Grandmother! After our main meal, the ice cream was brought out, which we shared. This was a nice end to the meal on a warm day. Overall, food is good, reasonably priced and staff are friendly and helpful. There are a variety of seating areas, including accessible seating inside and out. Toilets are nicely decorated and were clean and tidy. The downside is there is limited parking, so it’s best to walk if you can, or try parking in the street nearby. As my Grandmother has limited mobility, this wasn’t an option for us, but fortunately I have a small car and was able to squeeze in next to the bins! You won't get low quality pub grub here but a really good quality meal served up in a really comfortable friendly atmosphere. You'll need to phone in advance if you haven't booked a table as food this good and reasonably priced is popular. However if you go early you can usually get a table. The portion size is fair so you won't be disappointed here. On regular occasions they have live music so check their website for availability, these are very popular and you'll definitely have to book. Every server is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and can advise you on any dietary needs. There's street parking outside plus a carpark a couple of minutes walk away. There is disabled parking, however there's a small step to the toilets. Overall definitely worth a visit for a good authentic Italian meal with super friendly and helpful staff.

I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurants that I've ever been to. From the time I initially made the booking to the time we left on Friday night, the whole experience couldn't have been any better! Obviously with the popularity of this restaurant we had to book several months in advance. On entering the restaurant we were greeted with that lovely Italian warmth and hospitality, a certain something special, that only the very best restaurants seem to be able to achieve. We were shown to our table and offered drinks. Considering the fact that every table was taken, it didnt feel over occupied or claustrophobic. The food we ordered and it's arrival was amazingly quick, boiling hot and the flavour was so good I can't even put it into words. Portion sizes are extremely generous. We don't consider ourselves as food experts, but honestly the flavours in this restaurant really are magnificent, even simple vegetables seem to taste a 100 times better. There was no rushing us to order our desserts or coffees and baring in mind that all the staff were working on Christmas day, they all seemed happy, attentive and looked like they actually enjoyed what they were doing. I genuinely can't praise this place, it's staff and the chef's high enough. Thanks to all the staff, the Chefs etc for a really wonderful Christmas experience, we will definitely be back soon. In the last 8 months I have eaten out everywhere between Shoeburyness and Hockley - and everything in between including Leigh on Sea, and Rayleigh. I've tried the brands like Toby, Harvester and the local restaurants. But I can guarantee that you've not had a wonderfully presented and tasty roast like The Rayleigh Lodge. Atmosphere and service are just great! Even in busy periods they make your visit special. I'm a foody. I can't eat rubbish. This has become my best roast dinner by far for the area and its a little over £1 cheaper than the rest (not thst this is important). Both my son and I had a three meat roast. Gammon, turkey and beef. Beautifully presented on the plate and a juicy gravy to pour over this celebration on a plate. The beef rested and medium rare. Turkey juicy and succulent. Gammon salted and satisfying. Our lovely roast potatoes were crisp and soft on the inside. Cabbage, carrot and options for extra sides including cauliflower bake. Great portions but a balanced well presented and enjoyed dinner. Thank you guys this is what I call Sunday Roast!

This Rayleigh one, is honestly the worst takeaway I've ever had. The food arrived barely warm. The poppa chicken is SCRAPS of chicken. The chicken burger wad WAFER thin and dryer than a cracker. The gravy has zero flavour and was slimy in texture. Would not recommend, will not order again.

We called up as these were bellow standard. We couldn't rip them apart and they were chewy beyond edible. We called the store to be told "we've been doing these for 3-4 months and not had a complaint". Then to be told that's how they are, it's the icing apparently, despite barely having any. Got very frustrated as I already paid and could not cancel the order so I managed to get him to sprinkle a little more onions however it was less than half of what I wanted. The guy ruined the mood and atmosphere and was making me very irrate. Service - I felt that I was being undercut and the staff was trying to justify such stupidity. But on the day one family member couldn't make it so we was down to five persons for the evening meal. On arrivel to the restaurant we was greeted by the one of the staff at the door way and shown to our table, i informed them that there were six of us booked in but was now down to five. We had a good night eating great food and the waiting staff, the two ladies were very attentive to our every needs during our meal. could not fault them. ON finishing our meal and receiving the bill i was told that the deposit of £60 was reduced to £50 because there was only six dinners ! I mentioned that at no time was this mentioned when first booked the meal over the phone and payed the £60 deposit and when we arrived for the evening meal and i informed them that our party was reduced to five rather then six. If this was a company policy then i feel this should have been mentioned when i first book the reservation over the phone and for me to decide to carry on with the booking. All in all we had a great night with the waiting staff making our evening but it was dampened by losing one persons deposit.

The waiting staff were very polite and kept checking in with us to make sure everything was okay. What let the experience down was the waiting time and the quality of our main course. Traditional café, serving all the standards (all day breakfast, omlette, jacket potatoes etc.), but also pie and mash. Staff are friendly and helpful and food is reasonably priced, with decent portions. The café is accessible, with a ramp inside as the section with the counter is on a higher level, but the door is manual, so if you didn't want to mess about you can just sit outside and staff will come to you. Didn't use the toilets, so no idea what they are like. The café is very close to Rayleigh Mount, so it's a good idea to take a stroll along there's afterwards to work off your meal!

Just came in for lunch and had cheese omelette for me and liver and bacon for my hubby. He said it was bloody lovely and was stuffed after eating this. Very filling and expertly made. Kitchen and bathrooms were spotless. Unfortunately, we waited 45 minutes or so per course, and were thus there for 2-3 hours just for lunch. This is from our POV, even though from looking at other reviews afterwards, that the owners may disagree. But customers opinion counts, and our experience seems to mirror others, of which, clearly owners are not learning from, and adapting. We visit Saturday around 10am, with a friend of ours. The establishment was clearly busy, a good sign. We were told table would be 10 minutes, so we left our name and returned 10-15 minutes later. Table just came free as we entered. We ordered our drinks, then food, and told at this point food would be 30 minutes. We took the option to stay, working out timings this would be okay. First problem, herbal tea flavour on menu, was not available, so choose another flavour, then came back with also not available. So my friend asked what is available. Drinks ordered. We had a lot to talk about, time went, drinks drunk, still no food, the waitress came over to say not much longer. Now we'll over the 30 minutes. More time passed and another waitress came over to say have you ordered,? Then another came over to say its not long now. Time now 11.45am, car park ticket ends at 12pm, we wanted to cancel the lot, but then the food arrived around 11.50. Didn't enjoy because we had to eat so quick, pay, get out before car park issue. Either they had forgotten our order, more than likely, or so busy can't cope, which doubt as tiny establishment. Went as a family of 6 (and dog) and had the best lunch in a long time. Burgers, ploughman’s, fish finger sandwiches, wraps, fruit smoothies and milkshakes….all absolutely delicious. You will have to wait 20-25 mins for your food to arrive but it’s worth the wait to have a freshly-made, delicious food at an affordable price. This is a family-run business. We all need to support businesses like this which provide amazing food, outstanding and friendly service, and keen prices on our doorstep. This is an amazing little spot right off the main High Street and its refreshing to see a Mexican twist on some classic dishes. I had the Eggs Mexicana which was outstanding. The drinks cooler glass was really dirty looked like it was not cleaned for some time. The photo frames in wall and glass were really dirty also. The absolute worst part of our meal has to be the restaurant's signature blue cheese dip. Absolutely revolting!! It’s our local McDonalds. Over the years it has been hit or miss with the food being cold and the chips being half full and soggy. I did get a response and this was corrected. Today I ordered at the table via the app with family. Atmosphere ok but again dance music. The problem today was the chips being cold and again not even half full. The Big Mac I had was probably the worst I have ever had! One of the burgers was burnt, a smidge of Big Mac sauce, minimal onion and lettuce. Cold. When I went to the counter to show them that I had no Big Mac sauce the young lady asked if I wanted some extra sauce or get someone to cook a new one?? I shrugged my shoulders and said I suppose I just want the sauce then. I showed her the inside of the burger! I was expecting staff to just recook it. She then passed it to one of the managers (white shirt with red scarf) who just got another member of staff to sort out. The young lady then come back with the Big Mac box on a tray for me to take off her at the till. When I sat down with family they asked if they changed it and I said we will see. Opened the box and it’s the same sad looking burger with a little extra sauce. Shockingly poor service. I know it’s cheap but I think I’ve given up with this restaurant and McDonalds as a whole. Since Uber deliveries it seems to me that the service and quality of food is very poor. I’d rather take my family to somewhere like Wimpy’s where I know the food would be fresh and cooked with care for just a few pounds more.

The building it's self is clean and tidy, I really like the floor. The food is fresh and made to order. They seem to have most flowers in stock and for the most part they looked fairly healthy, some could certainly have done with some dead heading. We found prices to be on the high side and some of the items we wanted didn't have a price marked on at all and because of the scale of this place it was difficult to find a staff member to ask, unless we went right back to the tills near the exit. When we did go back past the tills, only one was being manned so a queue had formed. They could have possibly opened a second till to reduce the wait time and prevent people from standing around in an enclosed space when we now live in a world where social distancing is rather more important. Please see my pictures. To summarise, huge stock of everything garden related, plants reasonably well kept but definitely expensive. Therefore it's not a place I'd recommend. 😐

The ‘hand crafted’ samosas were no such thing just shop bought again. Lastly the curries we ordered themselves were tasteless and very oily. Most of the food went in the bin we only had a couple of tablespoons of each curry to try before giving up. If you are on a diet and want the anticipation of ordering a takeaway as a ‘cheat’ day but have to stay in your calories then go for it!! I went to bed hungry and disappointed. Next time I’ll Just get an M&S meal deal. Shame as we like supporting local businesses where possible.
