The food is pretty good, I personally believe it can be a bit too much. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, they where breaded excellently, they lacked salt, the sauce on them was ok, I thought they put too little relish under them but it was really good. I ordered the gravy train skillet, the chicken tenders where super dry however the collards where delicious, the grits, where delicious, the gravy was ok, i think the egg just added too much to it. My aunt ordered the Fresh garden omelet, she enjoyed it. My father got the southern slammer sandwich, he said he enjoyed it.

No longer a local, I was in town for a concert with friends. We had brunch and I was beyond impressed on how the server and manager took my friend’s allergies so seriously. Not only did they ask about any allergies, they informed us how the food was going to be prepared - changing of gloves and a different griddle. My friend was elated about those accommodations and the food was delicious. I ordered the Chicken and Cheddar Cheese Green Onion Waffles and couldn’t pass up the Fried Green Tomatoes. The food was excellent. I would recommend their biscuits the best I’ve tasted. I had a breakfast sandwich with you fried eggs. It was sublime. Coffee Was delicious however we did order the special coffee for the season and it was not good. But that’s what we get for trying things. Service wasn’t awful. My 75 yr old MIL and her sister really like it here. I am rating it low because the waitress wrote in big bold letters on our order that I had a dairy allergy (I get violently ill) and they cooked my food in something with Dairy. The waitress said “the Chef said it would be safe…”it was cooked in butter oil.” When I explained that butter oil was not dairy free she apologized several times and offered to get me a cup of fruit instead. I could not eat my $25 dollar meal and no one offered to cook something without dairy or remove it from the check. I know it is challenging for restaurants to understand allergies sometimes but they should make it right. The waitress may have forgotten to tell them who knows. So I watched everyone else eat. I did not like the layout of the restaurant it looked like a cafe. Other people may like a layout like that. The beer was good.

First, the service was wonderful and kind and accommodating, so I should say that. They accommodating our large party of 10 when we called in advance. Just outside of Little Italy, the food is wonderful, and they have a wide selection of loose leaf teas which are hard to find. We only had about 30 or 45 minutes to eat. Even though they were very busy, they seated us, served us an excellent meal with fresh loose leaf tea, and we paid in about 35 minutes. It was shocking how efficient they were! They suggested Chucks for breakfast. We arrived around 9:30am Sunday morning. We were seated immediately and our waitress Ada got our drink order and we had coffee and water in a matter of minutes. We ordered two skillets and blueberry pancakes. They were served in a timely manner as were the drink refills. Coffee got to half a cup and then it was full again. Never had to ask. Full disclosure, the pancakes did come out gooey in the center. Ada took one look and corrected the problem swiftly. The replacements were excellent. More recently, my partner and I ordered our usuals - him a Turkey BALT sandwich and me an “Even Better with Cheddar”. They’re truly the best breakfast sandwiches in the city and the price is really affordable for the quality you’re getting. We also tried their Pride Pancakes (strawberry pancakes with Marscapone) and they were so good, I will definitely be ordering them again. Last note: Chuck’s service is the best thing about them. It costs $17 and the dish is only worth $10. We would had been more than happy to pay $25-$30 for a REAL QUALITY 6oz filet mignon. This crap was really a shame. Nicks Double Burger was ok. Had a nice amount of sauce. The sauce made it so the burger doesn't need mustard and ketchup wasn't necessary. The beef had no flavor. Cut Fries aren't FRESH at all. They must be bagged fries. $5 ummmm, not worth it, especially for the portion given. Deep Fried French Toast was terribly greasy.....YUK!

Usually they say the risk of cross contamination is something they can't guarantee, which we accept out of our own risk. However, this restaurant physically told us that they can't guarantee their kitchen and I'll remember. They may "forget." They serve a lot of people, and if we have an allergy we should not eat here. We asked if they had an allergy free or gluten free menu and they handed us a dessert menu... English wasn't their first language so when they didn't understand celiac, we informed them that she was essentially allergic to wheat/gluten. She was too afraid to order anything so she said she was going to stick with fruit because she's allergic to wheat... The manager offered her cake..... We completely get that the risk is there when we eat out, but most other restaurants accommodate us amazingly. This restaurant didn't even bother to ask her what she CAN eat, instead just brushed her off and didn't even want to put effort in. Also the fact none of their staff is educated on food allergies and their kitchen is capable of forgetting a customers allergy is incredibly dangerous. Our server was nice, but I only gave her 2 stars because there is no way she should have brought food like this to our table. Anyone could have looked at this food and saw that it was not up to par.
