The room which we had upgraded to a master suite was in a general state of disrepair and not at all worth the £415 a night price that we paid. The spa was disappointing and I’d go as far as to say one of the worst I’ve visited. This was on top of the fact that we were the only guests on site who were not part of a private celebration being held there. This was never mentioned to us at booking or prior to our check in and it made for a very uncomfortable weekend for us and we didn’t want to be in the way of wedding party, so we just stayed in our room and left as soon as we could the next day. Due to the private event we were unable to sleep until this has ended due to the noise (not the fault of the celebrations at all). In my opinion the hotel should never have accepted our booking, which was made only a couple of weeks before when they would have certainly known about the events already on the same weekend. The staff were mostly unhelpful and uninterested. Our server for dinner was great, albeit we were the only people she had to look after. It has all the makings of what could be a good hotel, but it seems very poorly managed and it fell very short of anything I would expect from a 4 star hotel. I do not recommend. The character of the hotel was lovely Our bedroom was big with a bath and shower .and extra side room with a chairs and dressing room . We arrived slightly early and enjoyed some time around the pool and had a massage (pre booked). Upon check in we were given a beautiful surprise and upgraded from a junior suite to a master suite, we stayed in room 1 and were blown away! The views over the gardens to the front were amazing. Staff mentioned emailing corporate rates but never received them. I kind of deliberately stayed here to see if the reviews were justified. I just needed somewhere near to where I was working, to have a shower and get my head down and with it having the pool, I thought it would surely be decent enough… And it was, the staff were fine albeit having to go back and forth from reception or the restaurant to deal with people at the bar possibly as they don’t want to put extra staff on to cover all areas at once, I don’t know. Plenty of parking spaces at front and side of hotel. The room was basic. Wet patch on the floor when I first arrived. Room was warm. Shower was hot and powerful enough. The room seemed to be relatively clean and tidy and house keeping was fine compared to the reviews that said otherwise. The double bed was two singles pushed together (like a lot places do) but one mattress was softer than the other so I basically had to choose one side rather than be able to lie in the middle and spread out. Distinct smell of weed/grass in the hallway every time I walked to/from my room. I’m a non-smoker and had a non-smoking room but the smell of that isn’t a big deal for me but may be for others. I’m not keen on the smell of cigarette smoke though which was more faint and a non-smoking room right beside a smoking room doesn’t make sense if you can smell it. I could also hear someone’s tv late into the night when working the next day. I fell asleep some others may not be able to. The place is definitely a bit dated so it would be nice to see some money spent to revamp it as I’m sure it would intrigue and attract people back who have been before but are of the same opinion and maybe don’t return for that reason. The pool area was decent with loads of showers. Pool was warmer than most pools in my opinion. I notice toilets dotted throughout the hotel but never had to use any other than the one in the room so can’t comment on what they were like. I didn’t see much in the way of kitchen staff but I did decide to have a meal in the restaurant one night and I chose the tomato and red pepper soup followed by the fillet of sea bass. The soup was good but the seabass was delightful, pan fried to perfection. I loved it and could have eaten another. Both better than the same meals at the Best Western along the road - imo. Breakfast wasn’t upto much - imo. So skipped it after my first morning. Coffee was ok though, again imo. Coming and going in/out of the hotel was hassle free. In my head, I feel my stay was better than the reviews I read prior but then I know there were quite a few things that could have been better. I also discovered that for literally a couple of quid more, you can stay in the Best Western and you’ll see a noticeable difference (only not with the sea bass however, as brook mollington does it better). I was of the opinion that I would return, until I realised that there is actually better value for money, just along the road. So I’ve moved on to try it out. Hope this helps someone.

Beautifully decorated hotel in a great location. Staff were friendly enough. Room was nice however the mattress was not that comfortable foe me. Highly recommend the morning breakfast buffet, food is incredibly tasty. The food in the restaurant was absolutely top notch and the restaurant itself was a lovely place to be. Loads of choice and staffs were attentive .The hotel is massive extending across more than one building but all joined together, I was on the older part of the hotel which was rather grand the more modern part of the building had some other luxuries. The hotel is huge, with interconnecting hallways. It took me a while to actually locate our room. The room was large and had plenty of storage. No fridge though. No charging sockets near the bed. Out of 3 nights, The room had not been cleaned 1 full day and no tea and coffee refilled. I stayed there in one of the suit in Jubilee Suit area , shower would not regulate properly so it was boiling hot sometimes and somehow I use it. Bathtub was good. Room service needs improvement.

We asked for water but it didn't arrive until we caught someone and asked again. We had our starters then the waiter arrived with our desserts - they hadn't realised we hadn't had our main course. We travelled 4 hours for our stay and the receptionist made us aware of a couple of other rooms which were available, having explained previously how undecided we had been when choosing 2 rooms as they were all stunning. She very kindly showed us around the others and we ended up choosing another room. She was very lovely and patient (with us being so indecisive) as was the new member of staff who was with her. It was beautifully decorated, lovely personal touches including sweets left on the table, lots of coffee and hot chocolates. The leopard print chairs were amazing, the air con unit was great and the whole apartment was spotless. Our second night was spent in the Tree House and wow was this stunning. Walking into the apartment you was taken a back by the large kitchen, huge sofa area and tree. Very impressive!! The massive sofa was an amazing idea, with a huge TV on the wall and beautiful blankets… it was heaven. Again everything was spotless, beautiful mirror in the kitchen with leaves, bedrooms and bathrooms decorates beautifully, superb bath…. We did not want to leave. Staff even left me a birthday card on the table which was amazing. Sadly I don’t know all of the receptionist names but Chloe was working on my birthday and was brilliant. Such a lovely girl, helpful, friendly and she even gave us some recommendations and a map to help us find our way around Chester. The location was spot on, so close to everything and a car park next door. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay and we will definitely be making an 8 hour trip to come back next year ❤️

From the initial contact with Paul, nothing was too much hassle for him - he was always very prompt at getting back to me and as we hadn't actually seen the property in real life, he was very helpful with suggestions of how to do certain things (like sleeping arrangements etc). The bride didn't know anything about the hen party so it was all a complete surprise for her and from the moment she and everyone else arrived, there were smiles on everyone's faces! The space is absolutely perfect and the condition is excellent throughout - the photos really don't show just how nice it is and the hot tubs are such a good touch! All bedding, towels and complimentary robes are provided, which is brilliant when there's such a big group of girls. We genuinely cannot rate the apartments high enough and will definitely be staying here again whenever we visit Chester, Liverpool or anywhere near the area. From 19 VERY happy girls! :D

We stayed at the Eastgate 1 bedroom apartment at Polka Stays and it was well worth the money. Brilliant on site secured FREE Parking was a bonus.
