The chicken in both dishes was almost the taste and texture of mutton, not what I want in a curry. Would I recommend a visit? It was dry and chewy; I swear, roasted chicken from a supermarket tastes much better. The small portions would have been acceptable if the food had tasted good, but it was a double whammy!!! We spent £100 for the most unpalatable food and atrocious service. I cannot prove it but there could have been an element of racism going on as we were the only people of colour in the establishment at that time. The location is gorgeous and that is the saving grace, however in the conservatory where we were having our food, I happened to look up and saw that the ceiling was festooned with cobwebs in which were trapped the carcasses of hundreds of flies....most distasteful indeed....clearly no one has bothered to clean up the place!!!

However our last stay wasn’t very pleasant got complaints for our 1 year old baby crying! Went into the pub as a group of 19 (which was told on leaving that no other places would accommodate 19 but we booked has a group and that was allowed!) if you don’t want to accommodate bigger groups don’t take the bookings cause it’s not our fault when we’ve come for dinner at a place that accepted our booking and there isn’t enough staff to handle it! and when the order was messed up I was told that’s what I had ordered (which clearly we didn’t) didn’t want to help and basically just left the food in front of us even tho wasn’t our order! Wasn’t until WE asked the other table n it was there order! No apologies no nothing from the staff!!, the shower block wasn’t very clean, in the past was always cleaned and looked after there was one shower working which wasn’t working the morning we leaving so my daughter couldn’t have a shower!! We’ve been told by the owners that because of us people have left the camp! Even tho music was off and other pitches around the camp had music! We’ve been told we not welcome there again! But in all honestly I won’t be returning now! We enjoyed part of the stay the kids loved playing and being free but the staff have made us feel like bad guys when we just a family 4 tents good company just enjoying the time with the kids! We had no problems with anyone! But when your being told it sounds like your murdering the baby then hear them discussing (slagging you off) about the same incident to a group of other women in the pub then clearly we have to stand our ground and voice our own opinions! A 1 year old can’t tell you what’s the matter he can’t help that his way to express his emotions is threw crying! Really unprofessional the way it was all dealt with and how we’ve been made to feel!

However if your looking for a peaceful weekend camping this is not the place for you. But if you like to hear loud banging music and smell of weed watch me.peeing up trees all weekend then enjoy. At first glance the entrance to the car park isn’t the most inviting, and it’s easy to mistake the place for a campsite. But ride on up the drive, adventurer, and you’ll soon find the bar waiting. We grabbed a table in the beer garden and ordered hot sandwiches, and a few soft drinks. Two cans and a pint of flat Coke later, we were fuelled up for the ride back. The bill came to just over £35 for three of us, considering one meal was off the children’s menu i'd say this one is on the slightly pricey side, but not unreasonable, especially as the food was good and felt like fair value. The building itself is well maintained, the toilets were clean, and the staff deserve a shoutout: friendly, prompt, and genuinely welcoming. Thank you! Where the pub falls short is the outdoor space. It’s not bad, just a bit “generic beer garden” e.g wobbly tables, patio, and in our case the unfortunate spectre of a VW Transporter left running while it's occupants checked into the campsite right next to us. Generally we did have a good stay but honestly the shower/toilet blocks are a let down. Unfortunately it’s certain people that ruin it for others. Unsupervised Children being allowed to run in and out the blocks and blocking the sinks, I’m sure there was a toilet roll thief as whenever I went to use the loo there was never any in there and I did mention that to the staff, people leaving their business in and around the toilet seats, thank god I brought my bleach. Using the showers the floors were dirty and there wasn’t anywhere to put shower gels/shampoo. Rules don’t seem to be followed, loud music still being played late into the night, screaming shouting, even a sex show in one tent which the second night we had to tell them to keep the noise down at 3am in the morning. With it being a family site people should have more regards for the little ones. (I get that we can’t help who’s on the campsite) but when certain people left on the morning our last nights stay was great. We’ve read that the blocks are hopefully being refurbished in the near future so we would like to come back next year to see if it’s improved. Just a little suggestion, but we’ve been to camp sites where theres a code lock or fob for the toilet blocks, might help stop the little ones messing about and adults will have to go with them.
