Beautiful building. Hard to get good pictures inside without disturbing everyone even though it wasn't a mass time. Loved hearing the bells ring at noon and 6 pm. They do ask all visitors to pay some money even if you don't do the tour.

This church in Ottawa is a must visit landmark and one of the city's most breathtaking sights. Whether you're into architecture, history, or simply looking for a quiet inspiring place to reflect, the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica is not to be missed when visiting. The twin silver spires is so eye-catching even from far away, very majestic. Once you step inside, the beauty is breathtaking, every angle reveals more craftsmanship and history, and I could easily spend hours admiring it all, inside and out.

An architectural beauty & masterpiece. The Basilica holds a lot of history as the oldest Catholic Church in Ottawa. The church still holds regular mass and it's open to the public and tourists. A historical landmark in Ottawa that's absolutely worth Visiting.

Astounding. The buildings are massive. There's just no way to fully grasp how big these fabulous buildings are without seeing them in person. There was a lot of construction going on, but still worth going. I took the tour of the House of Commons. It was interesting, fun, and educational. Well worth the 40-45 minutes standing & walking. They have stools they provide for you to carry with you is you cannot stand that long. I used one, it was great, sturdy, easy to use & carry.

I had such a wonderful time walking around the grounds and just taking everything in. The views are stunning, especially with the river in the background and the Peace Tower standing tall above the buildings. It’s one of those places that feels both grand and welcoming at the same time. What surprised me most was how much history is packed into the place. I expected politics, of course it’s the center of Canadian government, but I didn’t expect to come away feeling more connected to the country’s story. Inside the buildings, you don’t just see offices or chambers. You see where Canada was shaped. There’s so much to learn about Confederation and the people who helped build the country. The architecture itself tells part of the story, with its old stone and intricate carvings. It feels like a museum and a working political hub all at once. If you go, take the time to walk around slowly. Look at the statues. Sit on the lawn for a bit. You’ll leave with more than just nice pictures. You’ll leave with a better sense of Canada.

Parliament Hill is a must see when you are in Ottawa. The buildings are beautiful and the architecture is impressive up close. Walking around the grounds is peaceful and you really get a sense of history. It is especially nice in the summer with the views of the river. The only downside is it can get very busy with tourists, but it is still worth the visit. A great spot to take pictures and enjoy the heart of the city.

I was stunned in admiration of the Parliament buildings . Beautiful view 😍. I visited over the weekend so I had no access into the building just the surroundings and it’s free access. Just walk around take pictures and videos and admire the structures and seeing the busyness of downtown at night was beautiful as a tourist.

I had the opportunity to visit Parliament Hill in Ottawa, and it was a truly enriching and memorable experience. I toured the House of Commons, which offers fascinating insights into Canadian democracy and governance. Although I booked my visit after arriving in Ottawa and the English-language tour was fully booked, I opted for the French-language tour. Fortunately, our guide was very accommodating — our group had around 7–8 visitors, and while the main tour was conducted in French, the guide kindly responded to my questions in English, making the experience accessible and enjoyable. I highly recommend planning ahead to book the English tour, but even if that’s not possible, the experience remains worthwhile. A few tips for future visitors: • Don’t miss the House of Commons tour — it’s a great way to learn how the Canadian Parliament functions. • There is a souvenir shop located inside the House of Commons, right after the security check and frisking area. It offers a variety of memorabilia and gifts. • If you plan to visit the Senate, note that it is currently housed in a converted historic train station about 300–400 meters away, as the original Senate building is under renovation until 2029. Unlike the House of Commons, the Senate site does not have a souvenir shop. The entire visit offers valuable learning about Canadian governance, parliamentary procedures, and historical context. When the House is in session, visitors may also attend live proceedings on a first-come, first-served basis.

It’s a canal of historic importance to Canada. There’s not much to do about it though, especially if it’s not frozen for skating. And I was only really able to get subpar pictures from the sides

Tourist in ottowa ! You need to see this . This is a place you want to see in summers and in winters. The vibe here is very nice - full atmosphere for a family outing plus amazing food options by the street . The walk around canal is amazing , you can take a walk by water , by the canal , you can walk over bridge to Quebec. Whole area is scenic and beautiful. You can also go for a run or ride a bike here . Additionally - these all places in Rideau Canal area are pet friendly too . So you can go for a walk with your pets on amazing trails . The o my struggle you may face is parking - which you can find if you drive around for 2-3 mins . Overall , this is the place to start your day in ottowa as a tourist and your day will pass by itself . If you are interested you can see when canal goes down and how water is balanced too.

It was an interesting tour, we learned some history. They use an electric boat. The way it's built does not allow you to enjoy the view, the seats face each other. Our guide had a good sense of humor, kept making jokes. There's is a toilet and bar on board.

Must visit place when in Ottawa. Boat ride or cycling whatever you prefer is a good way to spend time around the canal. There are not many places to park so look for parking options.

This is a 202 km long canal linking the Ottawa River in Ottawa to Lake Ontario in Kingston. It was constructed between 1826 to 1832 and includes 46 locks, raising boats 83 metres upstream to Rideau Lakes & lowering 50 metres back down to Kingston. The Rideau Canal is a UNESO World Heritage Site and considered to be the best preserved 'slackwater' canal in North America. You can view locks 1-8 directly from Plaza Bridge. This is a great spot for picture taking and to look at the mechanics of the canal from up close. Really neat bit of sightseeing in the the city centre of Ottawa, convenient to include along with intended attractions around Parliament Hill.

This was one of the prettiest places in Ottawa to sightsee, the view was most extraordinary.

Not only does this place have famous paintings and sculptures, but the architecture itself is stunning. I loved how the sunlight comes through the atrium, you can just sit there, soak up the light, and enjoy the courtyard. Such a beautiful spot to slow down for a moment. There’s so much to see that it actually takes quite a while to walk through everything, but honestly, I didn’t mind at all. It felt like time well spent, and I didn’t want to rush any part of it.

A beautiful building with convenient parking on site and small coffee shop in the building. 2 floors of art mainly contemporary, indigenous and European art. You will need at least 2-3.5 hours to finish. Very spacious. Clean bathrooms and nice staff.

The National Gallery of Canada was excellent, with loads of Group of Seven, indigenous, and other Canadian artists, plus lots of European artists too (including a well-thought-out wall of Van Gogh’s progression as an artist). The restaurant inside is great as well, with lots of ready-made and made-to-order options.

A must-visit for art lovers and anyone visiting Ottawa. The grand, high-ceilinged architecture and automatic doors left us in awe, making the exhibition space feel even more elegant and enjoyable. It took us about 2–3 hours to explore the entire building and exhibitions. The museum features an excellent collection of contemporary, Indigenous, American, and European artworks and installations. It also offers a beautiful view of Parliament Hill. Inside, you will find a cafeteria, a café, a library, and a gift shop.

Such a beautiful gallery with a WIDE variety of art styles and artists, from contemporary to european to indigenous artists! It was only 2 stories but the floors were MASSIVE. We spent 2-3hrs but defo would’ve spent more if we visited every single room. It has a massive open window panel so the natural light is super beautiful on a sunny day. Would definitely recommend!! There’s also a summer promotion going on right now, so I definitely wouldn’t miss it.

Many wonderful exhibits to see - I always find contemporary art interesting. With that being said, the Canadian art is what I enjoy the most. Plenty of excellent examples from the group of seven and indigenous artists. Be sure to visit the Rideau Chapel while you’re there. Absolutely stunning.

$5 tour is worth doing if you have a short time to visit but definitely could spend a whole day here! The cafe is affordable and the outside patio is a good break from the intense subject matter. The veteran's exhibit is a quiet place to contemplate in between learning about war as well. The building itself is a work of art along with the many pieces inside. Go downstairs to see the Viny Ridge plasters for sure and talk to others to gain insight!

After so many years living in the Ottawa Gatineau area I finally decided to visit this museum. I was very much surprised and impressed because I thought it might be a stale atmosphere because of the theme of the museum. I can honestly say it’s very well set up and very nicely organized. If you’re interested in the history of war, this is the place to come. 👍😎

I visited the War Museum last summer and can’t believe I missed writing about this fantastic experience! 🇨🇦 The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, deeply moving, and give a powerful glimpse into history. A great place to visit if you want to learn more about Canada’s war history. There are many weapons and artifacts on display that vividly tell the story of past conflicts. The environment is clean, spacious, and well-organized, making it an engaging and educational experience.

Absolutely incredible museum from an information and visual perspective. It starts with four separate rooms explaining each era of Canadian war history with incredible artifacts and detailed descriptions of what occurred. Each area is very well down and then as you move to the end there is a whole floor filled with tanks and other military vehicles throughout the years of both Canadian and international origin. The museum does an amazing job of bringing war to life and helping you appreciate the scale of the wars and the equipment used. A can't miss if you are in Ottawa, however be prepared to spend a good three hours here.

We came here to learn more about the indigenous cultures of Canada and for the children's museum. They have a great set up here, we were able to go to the children's museum right after getting our tickets to wear out our daughter a bit before going to the main museum. The children's museum is really interesting, much more than we had expected. It is really great that they have so many interactive and educational displays about different cultures around the world. Following the path from Asia, to Egypt to Mexico was a lot of fun. They have the room to rent marbles and other things to build as well. Definitely a must stop if you have kids. After she got a bit of her energy out we went upstairs to see the main exhibits. The long hallway with the mirrors telling the stories of places around the country was really interesting, a bit tricky to read, but very unique. The layout to walk through is fantastic. Walking through history from the indigenous communities, to the invasion from the French and British, to the modern day is so well laid out. Not too many interactive displays to keep our daughter entertained, but just enough. It was absolutely fascinating to basically walk through the history of Canada. Going downstairs to the great room/hall was incredible, the totem poles are enormous. Getting to see them in person and read about how the people carve them out was really impressive. I'm really glad we made the trip here and feel we got our money's worth.

What a great museum! I learned so much about Canadian history, with loads of surprises (and fun interactive features) throughout. I loved the layout, where on one side you wind through the history of Canada from ancient First Peoples to modern times. I loved learning about early French Canada and seeing Rocket Richard’s jersey. The other part of the museum was a massive First Peoples exhibit with buildings, totems and modern artwork. Super impressive. This museum was a great visit and would be perfect for families too.

I love this museum. There was so much to learn. It is so creative with its presentation and so informative too. Everyone must experience this and the war museum. We have so much to learn from the past. This museum made me feel connected to the people and their successes and struggles. The story of people migrating to Canada from different countries for different reasons. Anybody visiting Ottawa should definitely not miss this.

I took my kids to the Canadian Museum of History and had a fantastic time. The whole place is well-kept, clean, and thoughtfully designed for families. There are plenty of clean bathrooms (always a plus with kids), a cafeteria, and even vending machines for quick snacks. The highlight for us was definitely the Children’s Museum inside — my kids absolutely loved it. It can get a bit crowded and overwhelming during the summer holidays, but still totally worth it. I’ve also been during the school year and found it much calmer. We also explored the main history exhibits, which offer a fascinating look at both old and modern Canadian history. Beautiful displays, engaging content, and something for all ages. Highly recommend it for a fun and educational day out!

Visitors tip: Start at the top floor and work down for the best flow — but expect crowds in the Grand Hall. Bottom line: A beautiful, layered look at Canada that sticks with you.

Great place to visit, especially when the weather isn't great. Free coat check, a kids museum to let the littles run wild, and such an expansive collection of early Canadian history! I was also impressed with the very unique artifacts and the museum's commitment to return certain items or not display based on the requests of Indigenous groups.

Very well laid out main exhibits and you're able to go at your own pace depending on your group. Younger children will enjoy the great hall and the children's museum side of things. Cafe on site with a good selection of snacks and great views from the gardens

As an avid coin lover, this place has been on my bucket list for years. My late-father and I collected coins for years, from the Royal Canadian Mint. He was never able to make it here but I was so glad I did. I almost wasn't able to get a tour due to some major miscommunication between myself and a lady on the phone about when I should book. An amazing woman by the name of Amber was able to swoop in and help me and my family get 3 tickets. This was my super bowl while in Ottawa. Seems small for some but for others, it's their passion. Upon entry, you'll notice how old and historic the building is, and still beautiful to this day. There are various little spots to take photos on your way to the entrance and eventually to the gift shop which anyone can visit. The gift shop is top-notch. Hundreds of coins here. It's nice to be able to see them in person prior to purchase. They also have puzzles, sweaters, coin collection cases, etc. All the staff that I dealt with were so nice, helpful and friendly. The tour itself, was so great and informative. The tour guide (I forget her name, blond hair lady), was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She answered questions and gave us lots of time to see everything around us, and take it all in. I'll definitely be recommending this experience to anyone visiting the Ottawa area and I look forward to visiting again next time we're in Ottawa. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cool info about coins, definitely worth visiting. Wish the ticket was a bit cheaper as our tour ended in less than 50 mins or at least the somehow made it interactive. In europe almost all of the museums are turning into interactive museums instead of only being informative. But i enjoyed it very much.

The tour of the mint was okay. You are inside a gallery for the 45 minute tour and are not allowed to take any pictures and it is difficult to see what is going on at times. The only other thing is the gift shop so there is not much to do outside of the tour, which I felt left something to be desired. It did book up fast so I would recommend booking a tour in advance.

What a cool experience! Book in advance and arrive early! This tour was so informative and interesting. I would recommend visiting during the week as there is no coin production on the weekend. Though we didn’t see any actual work being done, the views from above were so fascinating. Seeing rolls of gold and silver in rolls to blanks and the purest coins were amazing. The TV videos were great as it shows the production line up close and the tour guide knew so much and was able to answer all questions. Totally worth it, visit if you can! Parked across the road on the street for free (July 2025).

Very interesting and informative tour. Well worth the price and took around 2 hours including looking through gift shop of coins you can purchase. Pre book on line. I showed up on a Monday but they were closed and so booked on line for next day.

Great experience visiting the making of Canadian coins, the guided tour really worth it. You pretty much could see all the process involved in coin making. The guides were so informative and answered all the questions. You could also buy investment coins collectable coins from the mint.

Laurier House is a beautifully preserved heritage home in Ottawa that offers a fascinating look into the lives of two former Canadian Prime Ministers. The rooms are thoughtfully maintained, and the exhibits provide great insight into Canada’s political history. It’s a peaceful and informative place to explore, perfect for anyone interested in history or architecture.

Reservations required for high tea, offered only in the summer season, in a fascinating historic location. Definitely worth doing. You then also get to wander the historic home of two former Prime Ministers with guides on each floor to tell you important historic highlights. One caution: parking can be tricky during university/business hours

Laurier House, the residence of both Prime Ministers, Sir Wilfrid Laurier & William Lyon MacKenzie King, is a must-see for Canadian history enthusiasts. It offers a quieter and more affordable experience compared to other attractions in the capital city (see my previous review of the lacklustre and soulless Museum of History.) This house is filled with original historical objects from 1910 to 1950, and knowledgeable and friendly guides provide engaging information. Lots of fun facts and a great time capsule back to a transformational period of our times. (Tip: If you drive, park for free (2hrs) in an area at the end of Somerset, walk north through the lovely Strathcona Park and down Laurier Ave to the house.) Don't miss out on this hidden gem of Canadian history!

Staff here was amazing! This minor museum in Ottawa quickly became my all-time favorite. The staff is stationed on every floor to answer questions and is really good at informing you but also allowing you to experience the exhibits by yourself. There's so much detail and mystery in the house that you have to experience. It's also an affordable museum. Street parking only. Both buildings are wheelchair accessible, but it is a bit finicky.

This is a fabulous place to visit, right in the heart of Sandy Hill. A beautiful house. There are guided tours (that it might be a good idea to book in advance), or you can wander around at your own pace and chat with the knowledgeable staff as you go. This was the option we took, and it worked very well. We heard, and told, lots of stories as we went, finding out all about two of the famous owners of this residence, Sir Wilfred Laurier and William Lyon Mackenzie King. There is also the option to book afternoon tea on the gorgeous veranda - definitely buy tickets for this ahead of time! - although we did not partake. While there is no parking on the site, there are several options for street parking nearby. Washrooms are available.

I hadn't been here since the 1980's and have no idea why I waited this long to go back. It's literally 8 minutes from my place! What a phenomenal historic home. Decided to take the guided tour and I highly recommend doing so. It's very much worth the extra couple of dollars. Our guide was outstanding! She was extremely knowledgeable and patient with our questions. This a hidden gem in Ottawa.

Came for high tea & the tour. Nice location and concept, but not well executed. I have been to many high teas and would not recommend this one. If you’re willing to spend this much money for high tea, you should go to Chateau Laurier instead. If not, you can go across the street to the company that caters this high tea and have lunch there.

Very interesting and informative museum that was once used during cold war and has jot been used since the early 90s. It has level 4 underground, seems simple from outside but it will bring you to new dimensions.

The amount of Canadian history crammed into this facility is amazing. It’s extremely well laid out and very very informative. We learned a lot about the Cold War era from the Canadian perspective. I highly recommend this facility. The staff were very friendly and the price is quite reasonable.

I’ve visited some pretty unusual places before, but this one ranks near the top! The sheer scope of this “secret” facility — built in less than 18 months back in 1959 — is absolutely mind-blowing. The Diefenbunker offers a fascinating glimpse into Cold War history, and it’s incredibly well-preserved. Our tour guide, Graham, a retired CSIS IT professional, was a superb storyteller. His anecdotes, humour, and passion really made the experience come alive — the perfect guide for a place that was never supposed to exist! If you’re anywhere near Ottawa, this is a must-see.

This is a great activity. An amazing piece of Canadian history. More than a museum considering the facility was actually in service up until early 1990s. It is a huge complex and there lots to see, and get lost. I would recommend a guided tour, but planning enough time before or after to roam around on your own too.

Great museum, I've been coming to this area for decades and only last year found our how close the bunker was to us. If you like history museums then this one is a must see. Mostly intact and well preserved, it will take about 3 hrs to walk, see and read the contents of the 4 floors. Lots of free parking and you can go have an awesome lunch at the Cheshire Cat just down the road.

This is trip to the past to understand better today’s events. Exiting walk trough the rooms where could be made so important decisions. It has much information about Cold War and the world of those years. Great museum which has to be attended!

Absolutely awesome tour! The bunker is in a time warp and the guided tour was extremely insightful on how soldiers and high command dignitaries as well as commanders operated in the bunker. The technology of running air and water systems was out of this world for the era of time. I would highly recommend the tour and a must see when visiting the Ottawa region! 10 stars if I could give it!

This is quite the monument here in downtown Ottawa. I like coming here often on a nice sunny day and taking in the ambiance of this war memorial. Unlike others I don’t find Ottawa boring and it has lots to offer in terms of scenery and history. This is one such spot. 👍😎

Visiting The National War Memorial was moving experience. I came here on Canada day to visit Parliament Hill, and stopping by the memorial was an experience i can never forget during my Montreal visit. The two soldiers who stood in front of the memorial (see images below for reference) heightened the powerful sight further.

The National War Memorial is located at Confederation Square. It was designed by Vernon March and unveiled by King George VI in 1939 in honour of Canadians who served the Crown and those who gave their lives during WWI. The monument was later dedicated to those who served in the Canadian forces in all conflicts. It is touching and moving monument and wonderful tribute to those Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the freedoms that today's generation enjoy today. What you see is a 22 metre tall monument including a allegorical arrangement of two bronze figures atop a tall arch. Within the apex of the arch is a sculptural cluster of 22 bronze figures representing various military roles. It is a beautiful arrangement worth viewing from all sides. Reference to the various conflicts are found around the monument by way of listed years in which Canadian forces served. The monument is fronted by two ceremonial guard sentries as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The monument is dominating the landscape with its height. We were lucky to catch a change of guard (we didn’t know the schedule) and was a nice experience.

The granite arch portrays bronze sculptures of World War One Canadian soldiers, sailors and airmen. It is also dedicated to those killed in the Second Boer War, World War Two, the Korean War, the War in Afghanistan and all conflicts in the past and those to come in the future. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier lies in front of the memorial.

It's really important for Canada history, if you visit Ottawa, you should check it down.

Best free tour in Ottawa! I am biased as librarianship is my field of expertise but truly the library of parliament is one of the most beautiful libraries I have ever stepped into. The tour of Parliament is a great way to learn more about Canadian history especially how the government and legislative branch operates, I highly recommend it!

I recently visited the Canadian Museum of Nature and had an amazing time. The museum is well-organized, informative, and filled with fascinating artifacts and exhibits that appeal to both adults and kids. Each section offers something unique-from ancient fossils and minerals to wildlife displays and Indigenous stories that beautifully capture Canada’s natural history. What stood out most was how well the information is presented-clear, engaging, and easy to follow. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into curating each exhibit. The building itself is stunning, with a perfect blend of history and modern design. Overall, it was a fun, educational, and enriching experience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Ottawa or simply curious about the wonders of nature!

I visited the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa not long ago, and overall it was a memorable experience — especially for anyone interested in natural history, fossils, and wildlife. The museum is housed in the stately Victoria Memorial Museum Building, which combines heritage architecture (stone, stained glass, carved details) with modern touches like a glass central tower added during renovations.  Walking through the galleries, you move through diverse themes: fossils and dinosaurs, mammals, birds, geology, marine life, and Arctic environments. The Fossil Gallery was a highlight — seeing dinosaur skeletons and ancient marine creatures up close gives you a tangible sense of deep time.  The Bird Gallery and Mammal Gallery also impressed me with their detailed dioramas and species variety.  I appreciated how many exhibits include interactive or “hands-on” elements: the “live” insect / invertebrate displays, touch stations, and immersive storytelling exhibits add energy to the space.  Also, temporary and feature exhibits (such as The Man Who Planted Trees) offer fresh perspectives and variety beyond the permanent galleries.  On the downside, when I was there the noise level rose in busier rooms, especially with children in tow, which made some exhibits harder to absorb fully.  I also found that a few sections seemed slightly dated or in need of refreshment to maintain visitor engagement.  I spent around 2½ to 3 hours exploring. For a casual visitor that’s enough to see the highlights; for someone keen on pausing at every exhibit, more time is justified. Overall, the museum offers a rich, educational, and often moving experience. If you’re in Ottawa, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

The butterfly flight was definitely the highlight-such a magical and calming experience! 🦋 Loved how friendly and welcoming the staff were throughout the visit. The museum perfectly blends architecture and nature, offering both beauty and learning in every corner. A must-visit spot for anyone who enjoys exploring science, wildlife, and art all in one place.

I just went today to go to the laid exhibits...the butterfly exhibit and the immersion "The Man Who Planed Trees" exhibit. Both were amazing. I will be going back in a few days to see all the free exhibits. The museum is amazing! All the staff were very friendly and helpful! I can't wait to see the rest of it!

I had so much fun at the museum. It wasn’t what I expected but exceeded my expectations for sure. Buying the tickets online makes your life so much easier. We were able to sign up to both the butterflies and man + trees exhibitions and it was surreal. I honestly would recommend it to everyone to have those visits this summer before it ends because it was so much fun. There were some aspects of the museum that were incredible and very interesting such as the dinosaur exhibit and the blue whale, however some of the rooms were not very interesting or well done. There were some rooms that felt thrown together just to fill space such as the tree and arctic exhibits that was a quick walk through, but it is worth visiting for the other exhibits. It is easy to just go up and buy tickets so no need to buy in advance.

A great family experience. We especially enjoyed the butterfly exhibit my daughter (3) loved walking around with them fluttering around and landing on her, it was a small exhibit but very impactful. We also really enjoyed walking through the Dinosaur fossil exhibit and "real life" section. It was a great day out for us.

We came here to use our ASTC Passport. The staff was friendly, handed us a map and told us about the demonstrations that they were going to be doing over the next couple hours. This place is really large and they have a lot of planes, helicopters, and a few ground based vehicles. It can get quite loud since everything echoes in this massive warehouse. Most of the displays are static displays that you will pause to read. A lot of really interesting aviation history going back over 100 years. I was a big fan of the display regarding the engines used in planes. Their kid section is pretty small, so it can get crowded and chaotic. They did have a great demonstration for the kids and adults about how to land a plane. Being able to sit in a cockpit really makes you appreciate what fighter pilots go through. Overall it is a really interesting museum with a lot of interesting planes. It's not really a place I would bring a younger child as there isn't much for them to do and interact with. If you have time to walk and read this is a good place to go.

This is a wonderful gesture that honors their service and makes this valuable piece of history accessible. Finally, with so many photogenic aircraft and compelling displays, make sure you bring a camera to capture the scope of this incredible aviation assembly.

Very reasonable price and family friendly. Not too big for a visit with little children. Additional hall to visit with a guide available, can be booked while your visit. The crafts program was open and offered a very cute project. Nice play area in the middle of the excebition hall. Lots of interactive exhibits. Cafeteria with cold drinks and sandwiches.

Lovely day trip out to Ottawa yielded a trip to this place. It was around 20$ CAD Per person, my duration of stay was about 2 hours but it could've easily been three. Lots of cool history here to see, and there's a helicopter ride you can take. Also there's a fighter Simulator but it wasnt open that day for us. Aviation buffs this is a must visit in your life time.

What a great experience this was! So much information and so many planes! Definitely make sure you are there for one of the $8 1hr tours of the hangar, a great bonus for the value!

Another hangar (which i did not visit) has an immense collection in storage that they rotate out from the main exhibit. One can pay a small additional fee to see that as well. If you like aviation and space. A must visit while in Ottawa

This FREE museum exceeded our expectations!! Not only were the staff friendly and helpful, the museum was curated so well! The interactive displays were so fun and very insightful! They had a little 5 minute show about the Bank of Canada which was a nice immersive experience. Overall, would definitely visit them again and really recommend to check out this museum if you’re in the area 💯

This museum is one of Ottawa’s interesting attractions that I definitely recommend visiting. It’s a small museum, but you can learn a lot about the evolution of banking. There are also fun and interactive activities inside that make learning more enjoyable. Overall, it was a really cool experience.

History of currency. A free museum. From ancient forms of barter and coins all on display to the most currect info on using electronic currency to pay. Hands on exhibit keeps o e interested to explore more.

We had an incredible experience hosting our wedding at the National Arts Centre (NAC). Our coordinator, Kim, was responsive, knowledgeable, accommodating, and professional. She helped us plan every aspect of our day, including the smallest details, which made the entire process seamless and stress-free. The food provided by the NAC was absolutely delicious and we received so many compliments from our guests. While the contract encourages the use of their preferred decor, entertainment, and accommodation vendors, this worked out well for us and made planning even easier. The venue itself is stunning, providing a beautiful and elegant backdrop for our ceremony and reception. Overall, it was a perfect day, and we highly recommend the NAC for anyone looking to host a wedding.

Attend a concert that was part of the free summer series concert. Very enjoyable. The concert took place on the terrace outside overlooking the canal. Bring picnic chairs.

It was a nice outing seeing the Final Fantasy symphony event here! Staff are super helpful at directing you where you need to go. Modern, bright building. The drop-off and pick-up for taxis is super clear which is a great relief for me because I was initially worried about finding my ride near midnight.

Does anyone remember Classic Bookshops which was located in NAC after it opened? They also had a section for French books which was La Librairie de la Capitale. I have not been to NAC in ages! But these bookshops were really nice. (The beautiful photo is Anaïs Nin. NAC had the majority of her books in stock.)

Even on a hot, sunny day, Major's Hill Park captivated us with its beauty. We were fortunate to catch the tail end of the tulip season, with vibrant blooms lining the pathways. The park offers breathtaking views of the Ottawa River and the iconic Parliament Hill. Walking through the park felt like a serene escape from the city's hustle. Highly recommend visiting for a peaceful and picturesque experience.

Located Beside The Rideau Canal Entrence. This Park Has Walking Paths And Several Sculptures Located In It. There's Benches Along The Pathways To Sit At And Drinking Fountains By The Enterences. There's Public Restrooms Available And A Restaurant In It. There's A Couple Of Lookout Spots To Checkout The Ottawa River.

This is the best place to Roam in Ottowa If you are a tourist . Walking around this parks takes you to many major milestones ; good food options are also available near the park . The scenery from here is very beautiful ; this is great place for a run , biking , or a walk .

right in the heart of downtown between the Château Laurier, the Parliament Buildings, and the Rideau Canal. The views are incredible, especially of the Ottawa River and Parliament Hill, making it a favourite spot for photos and quiet walks. The park is clean, safe, and full of open lawns, gardens, and shaded paths. There are plenty of benches and lookout points where you can just sit and take in the scenery. Parking nearby can be tricky, but it’s easily accessible by foot or public transit. In spring, the tulip displays are gorgeous, and the park often hosts cultural and community events. It’s peaceful yet lively, a perfect mix of nature and city charm, right at the core of Canada’s capital.

Having often heard about rulings and decisions from the Supreme Court of Canada in the news, it was great to finally visit in person. The building is impressive from the outside, with a dignified and stately presence. The interior is equally striking, elegant, thoughtfully designed, and truly fitting for the country’s highest court. A meaningful and memorable visit.

A beautiful place with amazing energy! I have to give a shoutout to the tour guides for their professionalism. I had very little time to explore Ottawa, but they helped me find my way, book tickets for other tours, and navigate through a big crowd of students. Went on a nice tour here. The law student (Elsa) who took us around was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed hearing her talk about our legal system and showing us the various areas of the Supreme Court. Really interesting and glad we did it. And it’s free! When we first arrived earlier in the day there were two people outside who answered questions for us and then directed us inside. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. I almost am not used to that level of treatment to be honest. In any event a super tour, great staff throughout. Glad we went.

A place worth visiting when you stay in Ottawa. This building is the Ottawa train station about one hundred years ago, and serves as a multifunctional building once the new train station has been built. It is now the Senate of Canada. The conference room is renovated according to the style of British senate. During the tour, you will visit the main conference room and the minor conference room. The guide will introduce the details of the building and their underlying meaning. It is an informative and interesting tour!

Shout out to Christian, our guide. We did all 3 buildings and he was the top 1 guide (the other 1 were amazing as well, but Christian stood out) The building is beautiful, a mix of modern and old. Really interesting visit.

The building of a former railway station is now used as a home for Senate. We did different tours that day, but this one was the best! We learned a lot about legislative system, building etc. Might be interesting to visit it again during the Senate session.

The building is the old train station which was neat to see and quite a grand building. I did a tour of the Senate as well which was informative and interesting because I didn't know anything about it before I went in. The tour is only about 30 minutes and I booked day of and was worth the stop just for the architecture.

Took a tour here and it was quite interesting. Charolette was a good guide. You need to book in advance. No cost which is awesome. Nice way to learn a little more about our legislative system. The whole family got a lot out of it.

I had the privilege of exploring the temporary Senate of Canada, currently housed in the beautifully restored Ottawa Union Station, located directly across from the Fairmont Château Laurier — just a short 300–400 metre walk from Parliament Hill. Booking in advance is highly recommended to secure an English-language tour, as slots fill up quickly. While the building may not be the original Senate chamber, the experience is equally immersive and dignified. The guided tour offers a deep dive into Canada’s legislative process, the role of Senators, and the architectural transformation of this historic train station into a temporary seat of governance. The interiors are breathtaking — from the classically arched ceilings and marble columns to the spacious main hall (formerly the train concourse), which now serves as a serene pre-tour area. The Senate chamber itself is grand, adorned with red carpet embedded with maple leaves, richly crafted wooden desks, and gilded emblems reflecting Canada’s provincial heritage. One of the most notable features is the original wooden door from the old Senate building, preserved and installed here as a symbolic gesture that maintains continuity with Canada’s historical roots. The tour is family-friendly and extremely photo-worthy. I was fortunate to capture several memorable moments with my family inside the Senate chamber and in front of the display of provincial and territorial flags, which offers a striking background for patriotic snapshots. Staff were courteous and allowed time for pictures at key locations. Tips for Visitors • Unlike the House of Commons, there is no souvenir shop at the Senate location, so plan to purchase memorabilia during your Parliament Hill visit. • Carry valid government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license) for entry. • Arrive a few minutes early; the entrance process is organized and secure. • If visiting with children, the stroller-friendly layout is appreciated. Overall Impression: The Senate tour is a must-do experience that combines history, politics, architecture, and culture. Despite being in a temporary location until the original building reopens in 2029, the site offers a compelling and dignified atmosphere. It’s a rare opportunity to stand inside the very room where federal laws are shaped — and to walk through a piece of Canadian history, beautifully preserved.

Visited with my family and got a guided tour from Camille(I hope thats how you spell it). She was well-informed and passionate about the history of Canada. She gave us insights to the paintings in the lobby(ask her about them!), and gave us recommendations about places to see around the city. It was an improvised tour since the chamber was being used, but she did a magnificent job nonetheless. The place itself was very beautiful and rich with history. I would recommend for anyone to check it out!

Because of it's proximity to the Parliament Building and other historical sites, we sat and watched the Locks as they were opened for boats wanting to go through. We learned a lot about the Locks on during our tour on the Lady Dive amphibious bus including that the Locks are still opened by man power (whoa). The process does take quite a while to happen, but it's quite fascinating to watch indeed. If it's not a hot or cold day and you're not tired, you can probably sit through the entire process while chatting with a friend or enjoying your lunch.

The most wonderful place in Ottawa, without a doubt. During our time in Ottawa, we came here every day, spending hours watching the boats being lifted through the historic locks and winding down each evening at the foot of the canal. For those seeking a real highlight, catching a sunset here on a clear day is a must. But even from the bridge, the sunset has its own unique charm.

It's beautiful!!! In any season, this place is a must stop in for a relief from the city bustle or to visit the elegant spaces where awards for outstanding acts are handed to incredible Canadians. It's incredible that we get to visit the Governor General Residence Public spaces. The visitor Center has accessible toilets, a picnic area and park. The grounds are flat and easy to navigate, even with a stroller or wheelchair. The rose garden was pretty but the flat water fountain was impressive. The massive trees and plants of the gardens are beautiful. The staff is bilingual French/English, so kind and patient. We asked a lot or questions. My 15 and 12 year old were entertained and enjoyed the experience. They didn't think young children would find it fun. You have to go through security to go in, and they check bags so leave as much at "home". They do search.

Despite living down the street for years I had never been inside Rideau Hall until attending a Days Open event during summer 2025. This is a beautiful residence and the staff are knowledgeable on the history of the rooms and artwork. The tent room and greenhouse were each a particular favourite spot on the self guided tour. The grounds are open during daylight hours regularly. Minus one star for not allowing dogs on the grounds (solution: on leash and fines for not picking up after them could easily allow the pleasure of dog walking to occur).

I had a wonderful time visiting Rideau Hall. The building is full of Canadian history and beautifully maintained, both inside and out. Touring the interior was a real treat, the rooms are elegant and filled with fascinating details, from artwork to architecture. Since it’s not generally open to the public year-round, it felt special to be able to step inside. A worthwhile visit if you get the chance!

Toured the residence, was absolutely amazed by the super knowledgable guide named Benjamin. Would absolutely recommend to anyone, especially families. He was super patient with everyone’s questions and incredibly engaging to kids and the elderly.

We had a great experience here! The museum is all on one floor, which makes it easy to get around, and there’s plenty to see and do. There are tons of interesting historical facts, and the open layout means it never feels too crowded. Each exhibit has several items on display, which kept things engaging. There are also lots of interactive features that make it fun and exciting—especially for kids! The bathrooms were clean, the gift shop was lovely, and the café was nice, with a good selection of snacks and drinks and lots of open seating. The pricing was also very reasonable! Overall, a really enjoyable visit. I’d definitely recommend it!

Amazing day at this museum: plan to stay the day, bring a lunch (minimal options at cafeteria). The museum offers demos even on quiet weekdays - we attended 3 shows and they were very engaging, bilingual, and great learning opportunities! The train exhibit is captivating and there are some wooden trains to play with. Most of the exhibits have interactive activities, cycling through times allows you to ride and race on a bike, several microscope, height comparison, etc. A whole zone for under 8 years old allow kids to explore on their own - truly engaging. Parking with Indigo is 9,50$/day We will return. The membership (which allows you access to 2 other Ingenium museum) is a good deal.

Canada Science and Technology Museum — Family Visit Review We visited the Canada Science and Technology Museum last weekend with our family, and it was a fantastic experience. The kids had a great time exploring all the interactive exhibits and activities, and the adults enjoyed refreshing their own science and technology knowledge. The ticket prices were reasonable, and with the Strong Pass, you get additional discounts, which is a nice bonus. At the entrance, after check in, they provided us with maps, and each exhibit room was clearly labeled, making it easy to navigate from one gallery to the next. The museum layout is very intuitive, with rooms connected in a way that lets you flow naturally through the space. The amount of information and hands-on learning available is incredible — truly a brain gym for kids! There was so much to learn, from basic scientific principles to complex technology concepts, all explained through simple and engaging experiments. This interactive approach really makes science come alive. There were plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged, including hands-on stations, games, and even demonstrations. Adults will find it equally fascinating, with opportunities to revisit and reconnect with science and tech concepts they might have forgotten. The museum is quite large, so I would recommend planning for at least 4 to 6 hours, depending on how deeply you want to explore each area. We hadn’t fully planned our time and ended up having to skip the last block of exhibits, so be sure to allow enough time if you want to see everything. I didn’t notice a dedicated refreshment area or café, so if you have kids who might need a snack break, it’s best to check with the front desk about food and drink options before you start your tour. Parking was easy, and the staff at the entrance were friendly and patient Overall, this museum is absolutely worth your time. It’s educational, entertaining, and suitable for all ages. Highly recommend a visit!

This was a fun experience. We had not been to visit in years so it all seemed very new and exciting and a great learning experience. They also have a massive building adjacent that has a guided tour of the exhibits that are not on display.

Very fun to walk around and learn about the advancement of the technology we see everyday, the the technology we left behind. We loved the Sound section with the fun gadgets we could play around with. The Kitchen section felt the most informative and the steam power section was the most fun to walk around due to the absolute scale of the trains. The building also looks quite nice.

This is a pretty big museum. Great for children to explore and learn about technology and science. The museum has some science experiments to explain concepts to children. There is a big room close to the exit to play and booster the children imagination. Paid parking area. Big area for eating.

Recently visited for a dinner. The atmosphere was nice. Table set up was fast. The food was really good. I had tomato salad with burrata cheese and salmon for main course. The taste better than expected. I am tricky eater but this time I really enjoyed the food. Worth the money.

My boyfriend and I decided to visit this restaurant for a date night last week, as we hadn’t seen any negative reviews recently. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the experience. Upon arrival, we were seated in what seemed to be the lounge area at a small table, away from the main dining room. This seemed to result in a lack of attention from the servers throughout the evening. We started with the scallop and boar belly fritter appetizer. It consisted of three scallops and two very small pieces of boar, something I didn’t expect as it was called a fritter. After waiting quite some time, our mains finally arrived. We knew it had been way too long and so did the servers since they apologized when handing it to us. I ordered the chicken ballotine, which was drenched in sauce and unlike any ballotine I’ve seen before. The sides of spinach and mushrooms were excessively salted, making that part completely inedible. My boyfriend ordered the pork tomahawk. While the meat itself was cooked properly, nothing on the plate was hot—not the pork, the potatoes, or the carrots. Ironically, the plate itself was hot, but the food wasn’t. The ramp pomme purée was bland, and although the chutney was good, there was very little of it. Overall, the presentation was messy and unappealing. My boyfriend works as a chef at a fine dining restaurant, so we fully understand that quality dining often comes with smaller portions and higher prices. However, the quality and execution here did not justify the cost. To make matters worse, the service was inattentive. We were never asked if our food was satisfactory, and there were no check-ins throughout the meal. For over $120, this dinner was a disappointment from start to finish. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

We had a fantastic dinner for two at Social in Ottawa. The atmosphere was inviting, and the food was superb. Every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented.

The smoked duck breast was perfection, with rich flavours, crispy skin, and tender meat. The spicy mango margarita was elevated and addictive.

Hands down the best meal out I’ve had in a long time! The duck breast and pork tomahawk we ordered were both perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding; the entire team worked seamlessly together to serve our group of six. Kieran was fantastic from the moment I called to make the reservation through to serving us at our table. Truly impressive hospitality, food and ambience. Highly recommend.

I coordinated a dinner for a group of 15 people at Social early this October. The dinner was held for VIPs of our company and we went with a prix fixe menu in the upper loft private dining space so we could chat and have a nice, formal dinner for our group. I coordinated everything remotely from Texas and our organizer, Jessica, was great! She made sure to gather all of our details, customize the menu, and be aware of all allergies and intolerances of the group so they could accomodate everyone. The food was excellent! Everyone was happy with the selection that was available and we received plenty of great feedback from our guests on the flavor and execution of all of the dishes. The custom/special drinks from the bar were a hit as well. The service was wonderful. Our server connected with me first to ensure the group was complete and that the timing for the courses was right. We received our drinks soon after our arrival and appreciated the water pitchers on the tables. Across the group we ordered all of the available items and received great feedback on all of them. I personally had the steak frites and while I'd normally want steak sauce, the steak was so flavorful and well-cooked that it definitely didn't need any! Overall we had a great experience at Social!

A wonderful museum for kids! Although there aren’t many actual exhibits, it does a great job showcasing different cultures and architecture from around the world. It’s a bit small, but the staff work very diligently, constantly tidying up and organizing the space.

Besides that, this is an incredibly entertaining attraction and museum in Ontario, Canada for children just as the name suggests. Therefore, I, Maximum Nguyen have declared the Canadian Children’s Museum of Canada in Ontario, Canada to be worthy of a five-star rating on Google Maps Google Reviews.

Awesome world tour to discover countries, cultures while doing a series of activities. Build a paper puppet in Indonesia, dig out archeological artefacts in Egypt, fold origami souvenirs in Japan, and much more! Build a log cabin or place shingles on a roof, build a brick wall, go fishing on a boat, play with wooden trains and Duplos, activities are endless. All this with a thematic scavenger hunt. Staff is amazing with children. Lots of cleaning wipes. We spent more than 3 hours !

One ticket gets into both the history museum and the children’s museum. I thought it wouldn’t be exciting but boy was I wrong. I really enjoyed the time there and it was definitely a hit for anyone travelling with younger kids

I thought they had redone it in recent years. It seems old and similar to when I was a kid. It kept my toddler relatively entertained but I felt it could be better. The fruits, vegetables were oddly heavy and shopping carts would work better for toddlers. I liked the available crafts.

My kids loved their experience at the Canadian Children's Museum and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone with kids. However, I was a bit disappointed to see that it wasn't that big! I arrived late, almost an hour and a half before closure, and got the tickets to check in. Luckily for us, my kids enjoyed their 1+ hr of fun activities and various stations. However, I don't think they could do more than 1.5 hours at such a small Museum! It was a work day that we had taken off to visit Ottawa (from the GTA), so it wasn't very crowded. I wonder how the place would look like with more kids+adults. Overall, the place is worth visiting (atleast once)!

This is a small museum with three floors. They have some unique local items, including maps of the city showing its growth through the years, old photographs, some artifacts from lumberjacks and navvies, as well as memorabilia from local dignitaries and celebrities of bygone days. I appreciated seeing the personal items from E B Eddy and D'arcy McGee. A visit to the storage area for wine and explosives allows you to see the thickness of the walls of this oldest of Ottawa buildings. (Circa 1827) There are employees to answer questions. Tickets are not expensive, only under 15 for 2 seniors. Well worth a visit for history buffs!

I'll admit, I came for the Aircon, but I stayed as this was a great little museum. Really enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits about the history of Ottawa. The signposts are informative and clear, and the museum is well structured and spaced out so it doesn't feel cramped. Very reasonably priced also. Would recommend!!

Such a GREAT and INTERESTING museum!!! We were greeted by a VERY welcoming Beatrice who addressed us both in French and English, providing us with the information we required to make the most of our visit to the museum and offering us the option of using the audio guide, of we were not aware - what a nice bonus to enhance our tour! The museum has SO MANY exhibits and interesting facts that we only viewed one floor and we are anxious to return to see the top floor and explore all the wonders that await us :) Thank you Beatrice for making this visit extra special :)

Pretty cool little museum. History of the Rideau Canal and some facts about influential people from the time period. Typical artifacts for the time, shovels, axes etc. If you missed it, no loss. Good way to kill 30-45 minutes. Family admission was $21.

Lovely collected items displaying Ottawas rising to the capital of Canada. Small, original building where you can feel history by only being inside. We had a warm welcome by very polite staff, highly recommended.

Enjoyed a great day at the Bytown Museum celebrating Colonel By Day! Interacted with costumed characters, explored the 3 levels, did a scavenger hunt, learned some history of the area, and watched the rideau canal locks in action! Great place to visit!

Overall, we had a great time! The farm was clean, and the map helped us find what we were looking for. Would definitely recommend as a great Halloween haunt! Service was great, and the actors were incredible! Attractions were also World Class! As a person with mobility issues, I would suggest having an area at the entrance for people who are waiting for the farm to open to be able to sit if they have issues. I would also recommend having somewhere to sit once again for individuals with disabilities at each of the rides when it is busy so that they don’t have to stand the entire time. Also, bathrooms had no toilet paper or paper towel in them at 8:45 PM. We arrived at the park at exactly 6 PM opening time and some of the food stations were not ready to be serving people yet so we had to wait longer than usual. Again, thank you for the great time. We will definitely be coming back next year 2026!

Always a very fun experience at Saunders farm, it’s been a yearly tradition for my family for the past 10 years and we always notice great improvements and variety each year. It’s clear they care about making the experience better and always have much to explore and offer each time we visit. For anyone in the Gatineau Ottawa area this is a must during the Halloween season. They offer both daytime tickets best suited for families and young children and night tickets best suited for families with older children and groups of friends. Not to mention the in house ciders and food like wood fired pizza. Glad to have Saunders be a part of Ottawa tradition.

First time ever at Saunders Farm as a Family. We purchased the tickets online. I highly recommend that so that it's faster and you don't have to wait in line to purchase tickets at the gate. Bought the regular 29.99 tickets and we spent about 3 hours there without doing any of the extra charge things' to do and we had a blast. The food spots were a hit as well. Takes a bit of time but its definitely worth it for the food. We enjoyed the hay ride and the mazes were fun and a little difficult which was good. We went during the day so because our little guy is only 7 and we didn't want him to be too scared. Lineups for the hay ride and the bouncy structure was the longest waits but was definitely worth it for us. Only minor thins I would of changed is had more potter potties in different areas of the farm. But the main bathroom was in the middle and it was quick for the guys but a little wait for the women as usual. Bathrooms weren't too messy from the guys side. My wife didn't complain about the womens which means that it wasn't too bad either. Overall we would highly recommend this to families and even couples who want to go and have a nice day walking around and enjoying the perks of fall weather, some delicious food and some fun activities and a little scare during the day time. Not sure how it is at night but i heard from others that went that night time is definitely a scarefest...

I Went with my daughter we love Halloween time and usually love Saunders. We found this year the lines were not bad for a Thursday evening. But some of the attractions had to much fog an strobing lights that it was more difficult to see and we missed out on the actors trying to scare us. Also one even bumped the chainsaw into my daughter’s face because they couldn’t see either. Otherwise a good time.

We had such a great experience at Saunders Farm on Saturday! (Oct 11) All of the staff were so friendly and the scare actors put on amazing performances! (Especially the chainsaw guy in the Haunted Hayride, the expressions on his face to give a crazed look was very impressive) We have taken our kids to Saunders for their Pumpkinfest for a few years and its always a fun time, but this year we decided to get our little ones the Ultimate Kids tickets and I 100% reccomend it was well worth the price! We are already counting down the days until we visit for PumpkinFest next year!

This place is magical! I went on a Tuesday night and it was so much fun! The vibes here were nothing but good! Everyone was having so much fun, laughter, giggles, and conversations etc. I didn’t pick up on any bad energy. The staff were amazing and very helpful! Especially that guy dressed as Charlie Chaplin? He was great and helped us a few times. The food was delicious especially the poutine and fudge! The coffee was great too. It was an amazing experience and I’m so happy. The bonfires kept us warm! My 13 year old teenager daughter had so much fun. Thank you Saunders!! We will back again very soon! The price of the tickets were worth this amazing experience!!

The statue of the "Famous Five" in Toronto commemorates five Canadian women who played a pivotal role in the fight for women's rights. These women—Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney, and Henrietta Muir Edwards—were at the center of the "Persons Case" of 1927-1929. The story began when these women challenged the Canadian government's interpretation of the word "persons" under the British North America Act (1867). At the time, women were not legally recognized as "persons" and thus could not be appointed to the Senate. Emily Murphy, the first female magistrate in the British Empire, along with the others, petitioned the Canadian Supreme Court to determine whether women qualified as "persons" eligible to hold public office. This bigger than life set of statues is a monument of remembrance of the 5 women who were pivotal in helping secure women's rights in Canada. Set alongside a beautiful view of the canal and its commerative plaque, you can not only view these statues, you can stand within them and imagine what it must have been like in those early days before women had rights and the conversations that must have ensued. They appear to be in the middle of an important meeting and you can now be a part of it.

There’s so much to see just walking around, lots of interesting sights and really cool architecture everywhere. It’s such a fun area to explore on foot!

Great monument in the Core of Ottawa that pays tribute to countless brave and courageous soldiers who have risked and lost their lives to protect our Country throughout the years. It’s a very peaceful space with soldiers on guard for most of the day with a changing of the guards ritual every hour on the hour which is pretty neat. 🇨🇦🙏🏼🇨🇦

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is found just in front of the National War Memorial at Confederation Square. It contains the remains of a unidentified Canadian soldier who died in France during WWI. It is granite and bronze monument added to the National War Memorial in 2000 that makes a touching and fitting addition worth viewing and paying respects while sightseeing in the area.

The place is nice and has a lot of statues placed along a path loop that takes about 30 mins to cover on foot. The entry fee of $10 per head is a bit high for the limited activity here. There's a 10 minutes long disclaimer to fill out before you start, due to the high risk of falling off the path and getting injured if you're not careful.

This is a hidden jewel in the township of Cumberland in lower Canada now known as Quebec. Lots of interesting sculptures throughout the park. The flowers and grounds are pretty as you enter. Be sure to take bug spray. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Cute place to go for a hike in a forest trail and see very cool sculptures. Don't forget your bug spray if the mosquitos like you. It's about a 15-20 minute walk depending on your speed. There are some steep hills, so if you are looking for an easier, flatter trail, this might not work for you. There is an area to rest and let kids play, bathrooms as well.

This place is a good picnic spot and not just a sculpture park. There's a play structure at the entrance and picnic shelters. The sculptures are placed alongside a trail and there are millions of mosquitoes in there so don't forget your bug spray.

Hidden Gem nestled in an Ancient Forest of Tranquility! We spent 2 hours walking these beautiful well maintained walking/hiking trails. There were SO many fascinating & educational spots showcasing amazing hand carved sculptures from around the world, representing awareness of "Who we are" by sharing the 3 essential values of 1. Oneness 2. Equality 3. Interconnection. We took over 30 pictures & read all the sculpture info boards displayed, which reflect which religion AND which essential value, each sculpture represents. We were SO impressed, we bought an annual membership so we can come as many times as we'd like & plan to bring our children & grandchildren. This is an awesome venue for Celebration of Life, Weddings, Family Gatherings, Meditation Workshops, etc... Located just 1/2 hour from Ottawa and nestled in the town of Cumberland, just off Highway #174, with access to the Park from Old Montreal Road. Well done and MANY more expansion ideas/plans in the works!

Such a peaceful and beautiful place! I loved walking through the trails, surrounded by nature and stunning sculptures. It felt calm, welcoming, and inspiring the kind of place you leave feeling lighter.

We went here for the Muslim Fest and it was a very good experience. The Heritage Village itself is a beautiful place and the festival made it so much more fun. Plus they had a drone show afterwards.

Muslim festival at Cumberland museum was amazing great food fantastic performance and stalls with beautiful jewelry,abayas, and souvenir from different countries. Lots of open parking without any charges and the security and volunteers did a great job. Looking forward for the same festival in Ottawa again. Enjoyed drone show for the first time.

EDIT: I don't want to wrongly blame anyone, but I got nails in my tires most likely while parking here (they had event parking in a grass field, in addition to their unpaved lot/road). Really nice as an event venue. The collection of heritage buildings is mid; but it's nice to attend an event there and stroll through the buildings when you need a few mins to relax.

Visited for the Christmas displays a week ago (December). What a cool experience. We were there just as the sun was setting and it was beautiful. Lots of fun activities. Our kids (and the adults) had a wonderful time.

The village is buzzing with anticipation, as craftsmen are busy preparing for Christmas. With the hum of a 1930s machine, the carpenter skillfully crafts lathes, carts, and delicate wooden trinkets. The press churns out notebooks and gift bags using a 1920s printer, while the forge produces exquisite iron gifts. It's not just a visit; it's a mesmerizing journey back in time. Doesn't that sound enchanting?

A great experience for just about everyone I happened to be in the area running some errands when I saw this lovely recreation of what used to be the town about 100-125 years ago. The buildings are in great condition, the docents are excellent and helpful, all decked out in period clothing, speaking about the life experiences of their characters! I was there almost at closing time, yet they took me over the places I was most interested in seeing such as the one room schoolhouse. We talked about lots of things, such as demographics served, teaching conditions, students lives, lifecycle of the building (which was an actual school, not a replica) and the events surrounding its closure. All in all, CHV is a very engaging place, and it is a great outing, whether you are taking your out of town guests, your children or you just want to learn more about life in ON as it was during the Agricultural Era. The National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa, located at the intersection of Wellington and Booth Streets, stands as a powerful tribute to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and a reminder of the resilience of survivors. Situated across from the Canadian War Museum, it is a striking and thought-provoking space that compels reflection. Designed by architect Daniel Libeskind and unveiled in 2017, the monument is composed of six massive concrete triangles that, when viewed from above, form the shape of a fractured Star of David. This design is deeply symbolic, representing both the imposed identification of Jews during the Holocaust and the fragmentation of lives torn apart by genocide. Inside the monument, large-scale murals depict present-day images of Holocaust sites, grounding the past in the present and reinforcing the weight of history. The space is stark, with towering walls that create an atmosphere of isolation and contemplation. The intention is clear—it is not meant to be a place of comfort, but one that forces visitors to confront the gravity of what happened. Established through the National Holocaust Monument Act, the site ensures that the memory of the Holocaust remains an enduring part of Canada’s national landscape. The experience of walking through it is both sobering and necessary. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of hatred and the importance of vigilance in protecting human rights.

I brought my child to see this after our visit to the War museum in April 2024. It allowed me to explain what had happened during the Holocaust and why it must be remembered such that never again is more than just words.

Very serene atmosphere. Quiet and calm well inside the monument. The design and layout kind of give you a trapped helpless feeling. The monument is well layed out and a very touching tribute to the countless lives that were torn apart. Definitely makes you think and reflect, well at least it did for me.

We were very affected walking around inside this monument. It's wide open, but the high, angular walls and drabness of it all can make one feel claustrophobic, trapped, hopeless. Faint pictures on some walls have plaques to describe various aspects of the Holocaust, but mostly, in our experience, it was the feeling of being there. Absolutely haunting, and stays with you even after you walk up the steps to the "freedom" of the outside world again. It's a bit like being in a fun house, but without the fun. Or the house.

A great monument to honour those impacted by the Holocaust. Definitely a must see when visiting Ottawa. You can visit this monument on your way to the War Museum. It takes roughly 15-20 minutes to view all information in the monument.

Very cool from the inside!

It is a great park to visit and learn even more about Ottawa's history. There are clearly marked plaques describing each monument and why it was erected. If you are lucky (which we were), you will also get to witness the changing of the guard - complete with bag pipes! Overall, the park was nice, quiet, and tree-lined with a few places to sit. However, on a hot day, it can get pretty hot, so bring water.

This is the spot you got to be at if you're visiting, or a photographer looking to capture some wild-angled photos of beautiful Ottawa. A latest smart-phone, and you can capture surround-shot, virtual shot etc., Best time to be at: During the sunset(blue hour). Have a tripod ready if you're a pro. Otherwise, arrive a little early so your photos aren't badly lit. Summer time is great here, as the place is packed with people(mostly tourists). Grab a sandwich, sit, relax and enjoy your surrounding. The place can provide you with many opportunities such as, showcasing your shuffle dance or flash-mob skills. No one is going to bother you here, not even cops unless you're doing something against the law. In short, a fun place with many eye-candies around ;)

Though there are some people who find Ottawa a boring capital city but I’m one to disagree. I think it’s beautiful and pleasant especially in the summer months. Fall is superb as well. There’s lots of history here so there’s lots to see and do. This spot is quite pleasant and if your timing is right you can see the changing of the guard. It is however policed due to past vandalism. Otherwise don’t miss this nice spot in downtown Ottawa. 😎👍

Confederation Square is an urban square in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and is considered the second most important ceremonial centre in Canada's capital city, after Parliament Hill. This is a important public space next to the Rideau Canal in the city centre of Ottawa. It is the location of several memorials and monuments. Within the triangular shaped urban square you will find the National War Memorial, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Valiants. Confederation Square is convenient to visit while sightseeing in the area and a place that you can easily spend 15-20 minutes monument viewing as part of your visit to Ottawa.

A nice park. Felt safer traveling in a group after dark. The haunted fountain is cool.

Looking for a place to run when you are visiting the Capital. Don’t look further! The Rideau Canal is definitely my best spot for long run when I visit Ottawa. Lovely place for running 😊

It has to get extremely cold for the canal to freeze over, and finally this year it did. The canal team provide lots of facilities for you to be able to put your skates on in the warmth. Don’t forget to grab a beaver tail and a hot chocolate while you are there. Ice conditions vary so check their site before you go, it is updated regularly.

Great place for a break, enjoyed the mini "Rideau Canal Cruise" 1.5 hours. Peacful & entertaining. The quiet Eboats are a bonus! Found the coffee a bit to pricey!

be aware that in the summer, this is just a spot along the canal with no specific landmarks. Go to the locks if you want to see the water features

It was a great experience to see the canal lock system. Nice little walk. Beautiful sunny day. You can try cycling too. One of the best tourist attractions in Ottawa. End of the journey to River. I went during early spring. Pretty sure more happening after May. Surrounded by Parliament Hill and old structural buildings.

Monica was an absolutely fantastic guide. She was an excellent story teller, was hospitable, and extremely witty. I saw her genuinely engage and connect with every single group on our tour which was very impressive. Had an absolutely wonderful tour at the Beechwood Cemetery tour. Our tour guide Nart delivered the haunting stories with just the right mix of gravitas and charm. It's clear how much effort Haunted Walks puts into their research into the spooky side of history. It's also the only way you can see the beautiful cemetery grounds after dark, which is truly worthwhile.

A Chillingly Fun Night with Charlotte! We joined the Original Haunted Walk of Ottawa and had such a fantastic time! Our guide, Charlotte, was an incredible storyteller, calm, eerie, and captivating all at once. She began with chilling tales of old burial grounds before leading us through downtown Ottawa, pointing out haunted buildings and sharing fascinating stories of the paranormal. From creepy attic hauntings to spirits trapped “in between” because of their tragic endings, every stop gave us goosebumps and made us look at the city in a whole new way. It was the perfect mix of history, mystery, and spine-tingling fun. Highly recommend this tour, especially around halloween week.

Our guide Romy (sp) was so interesting to listen to. Learnt some things. Fun experience. We did the bytown museum tour based on the spookmeter! A couple people felt something in the vault!!

What a fun and interesting tour. We were fortunate to have a very small group which made it very easy to focus on, and hear our tour guide. As an added bonus we had some strange experiences while in the museum. Definitely worth a walk in the dark!! I took the Original Ghost Walk of Ottawa, and I enjoyed it. It's definitely a bit of a hike, but our guide Darcy/Darcie (?) made the experience very enjoyable. She made sure we had time to take photos, ask questions, and gave everyone time to catch up if needed. Would definitely recommend (though creepier in the night!!)

Excellent facility for conventions, conferences, receptions or any other large scale event where you need a lot of space to comfortably accomodate hundreds of people, without it looking packed or them feeling crowded. I attended a two-day conference at this facility, and I was impressed by the beauty of the structure (inside and out), as well as the amount of natural light coming in from the floor-to-wall glass walls that also give way to wonderful views of our city, as you gaze from inside that glass dome outwards. I have to also praise them for their catering, the sound & visuals and temperature control. Everything was exceptional, and the staff very friendly and helpful. One thing I found very confusing was the parking situation, because it's not explained well online ... but it turned to be very simple. Just go to the Blue Parking lot in the Rideau Centre and exit (on foot) from where you entered, because that's adjacent to the entrance of the Rogers Centre.

This place was where uottawa graduates had their ceremony. There were amazing aesthetics such red light within brown rail-liking architecture and many spacious floors. However, the graduate ceremony does not have floors where guest and graduates are seated like an auditorium. It is all in one floor level which sucks to see from distance for the stage views.

I’m adding this review for people interested in organizing events in here. The venue price is good but keep in mind that the food and beverage price is steep. You need to expect 18% fee + %13 HST on top of super expensive food and beverage costs. Very professional staff and they do their best to accommodate your needs. Something to note about having your event in the summer time is that first level rooms are very hot and 3rd and 4th floor rooms are very cold. I think the HVAC system could be better. Overall, I would still give 5 star give the management team cares about your satisfaction.

Great atmosphere and venue. However, poor food service. Lunch was from noon to 1:00 and even though there was still food available, all plates and serving platters were removed at 12:25. My two colleagues did not get to eat.

We had such a wonderful time here and visited multiple times just to see it again. We'll be back again next year 💯.

Grateful for the beautiful weather and seemingly smaller event this year. Having the wire protectors along the sides of the street rather than across the middle made it a lot easier to navigate in a mobility device. Saw many more people using mobility devices this year than in the past. Would still prefer the Market than the brick sidewalk of Sparks St.

Went down to check out Prismatica on Sparks Street which is an installation running from Sep 25 to Oct 25, 2020. Heard about it on a commercial and decided to go down for a selfie and to support local business. Glad we didn’t bring the kid. Prismatica is cool but underwhelming. A line of about 20 giant 2 m tall prisms that you can spin. The signage says that as they spin, a variable-intensity soundtrack comprised of bell sounds will play. So, yes, as some of them spin, they have little bell chimes that play. Still, it is a fun back drop for selfies with the reflecting rainbows.

Sparks Street is a pedestrian mall in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was a main street in Ottawa that was converted into an outdoor pedestrian street in 1967, making it the earliest such street or mall in Canada. Sparks runs from Elgin Street in the east to Bronson Avenue. The Sparks Street Mall, that contains a number of outdoor restaurants and also a number of works of art and fountains, only runs from Elgin to Bank Street. The pedestrian-only portion continues for another two blocks westward, with the final two blocks west of Lyon Street being a regular road and merges into Bronson Avenue going south.

Iconic and historical buildings are abundant on this stree. Sparks street is the story of Ottawa since its birth.

This is a great place. So many shops, bars and statues!! Worth the walk. The Irish pub @ Elgin is AWESOME!! Service is great! Food is great! Great patio!! DALE is the MAN!! We bought the tickets online. We chose premium seats because we both have movement sickness so we secured front seats to be able to see upfront. These tickets are 20CAD extra. The tour is guided and the guide is very friendly and makes jokes. We had a great tour. The experience with the amphibious vehicle was interesting. Was like an old boat which you could drive. But worth the way, because you also go to Quebec for a bit then you dive. We enjoyed our ride.

Excellent service and tour. We have been in Ottawa for 5 years and it this time when we took these ur parents for this tour, we saw this pretty side of Ottawa. Lovely scenes and huge shout out to the amazing tour guide Cameron and captain Bruno. Worth the price!

My family and I took the amphibus tour. It’s definitely one of the must-dos in Ottawa! Our tour guide Christina was super well informed, friendly, and had a great sense of humor that made the experience even more fun. The whole tour ran smoothly—shout out to Bruno! We had a fantastic time and would absolutely recommend it!

The tour guide was really good! She gave us a lot of useful information and always found a way to make a joke here and there. The driver was also very nice. The whole experience to go with an amphibian bus is really nice! The only downside, for which I am giving it just 3 stars, is the fact that the bus is really old and in dire need of renovation. The smell of gasoline on the entire trip took a bit from the pleasure of the ride. I understand they also have a new bus, I strongly recommend you take that one!

1- It was easy to book online and they allow you to modify days prior to booked date. 2- Plenty of paid parking around the pick up area, we paid $21 for parking all day. 3- The tour is an experience not to miss and be prepared to record the moment the bus enters the Ottawa River, very enjoyable 4- We lined up at the pick up point one hour prior to but we didn’t have to since the tour was booked in our name as long as you arrive on time 5- Alexy the tour guide was very friendly, informative and helpful. Don’t forget to volunteer tip as a show of appreciation 6- The tour starts in Ottawa Ontario then crosses the Ottawa River to Gatineau Quebec and then enter the water from the Quebec side. 7- I would do it again on my next visit to Ottawa

A to do list in my hometown. Nice to be a tourist sometimes. Can be booked online but best to go to their stall on Spark Street for the earlier departures and get a sense of how things work. Recommend paying that $5 extra for premium seats as it is worth it to get up front and on the left side so your view is not blocked by the tour guide. A recommendation on a warm sunny day.

The Confederation Building in Ottawa never fails to impress me each time I walk by. Its Gothic Revival architecture, complete with intricate stonework and striking copper roofs, is a beautiful reminder of Canada's rich history. The building, part of the Parliament Hill complex, houses various government offices and stands as an important symbol in the nation's capital. Although the interior isn't open to the public, the exterior alone is worth admiring. It's a must-see for anyone interested in Canadian architecture and history!

I find it hilarious as an American I've never been to Washington DC but wanted to visit Ottawa. 10/10 was not disappointed. Loved the city.
