Harlestone Firs Forest Walk is a serene and picturesque woodland stroll through a majestic pine forest, providing an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Spanning 300 acres near Althorp, this coniferous woodland offers wide paths suitable for families, dog walkers, and nature enthusiasts seeking the crisp autumn air. The golden pine needle-covered floor emits a delightful earthy aroma as you wander through the towering trees.
One of my favourite place for a nice easy walk, 2.5mile if you walk the outer edge. But loads of paths to make longer
Carl D — Google review
Beautiful forest with wide hard packed earth paths. We went during a particularly dry spring and the paths were pretty much entirely solid requiring no special footwear. Around wetter parts of the year wellies would be a must. The parking isn't amazing with having to park on a busy road and then cross it afterwards. This doesn't detract from the beauty and relaxing quietness of the forest.
James H — Google review
A lovely, characterful country gastro pub which did not disappoint. Calm, friendly atmosphere with a no-rush bike, leaving us free to take our time despite it being busy. Food was tasty, hot and nicely presented and dietary needs accommodated with understanding and without fuss. Will definitely revisit!
Ju M — Google review
Lovely peaceful walk amongst all the trees and birds. The only downside is the inconsiderate dog walkers who think there is a poo fairy in the woods who goes around picking after these lazy people .
Davo P — Google review
This is by far my most favourite place to be in Northampton. It's a tranquil and scenic space to explore and destress. In a world where being ultra busy is accepted as the norm. Please take some time to recerge and explore this beautiful landscape. The walk can be as long as you want it to be. I've committed to a short 20 minutes to exceeding 2 hours exploring the vast perimeter of the woodland. Parking is okay but should be on the other side of the road. Please do not let this detract you from making a visit, though. You might even spot the occasional muntjac wandering around the depths of the firs offering.
Richard R — Google review
Beautiful place to walk, however, if your sense of direction isn't too great, you can get lost quite easily. Beautiful walk, chestnut trees, and very suitable for dog walking too!
Ri — Google review
Harlestone Firs is home to one of the most dramatic and beautiful Cathedrals of Nature. The Beech Avenue at the far end of the paved roadway is truly glorious when the canopy of leaves are in full summer dress and again in October. I promise you won’t be disappointed. It’s also a varied woodland offering many amazing opportunities where a creative photographer can allow their imagination to wander and explore images that you didn’t know existed. It’s an altogether wonderful place to spend many hours in imaginative thinking.
Geoff P — Google review
This is a great place to go for a walk, and probably a run too if you like running. It's a dog friendly place too, and dogs definitely like running. Nature is good for you, so visit and have a walk, just make sure you have appropriate clothes for the weather. I always carry a bottle of water, flapjacks or similar, and a camera.

Irchester Country Park, spanning over 200 acres of mixed woodland in a former iron ore quarry, offers a perfect blend of nature conservation and recreational activities. The park features three trails for leisurely walks amidst mature foliage, an adventure course with zip lines, and a quarry-themed play area for kids. Visitors can also explore the railway museum on select days and indulge in locally sourced food at the Quarrymans Rest Cafe.
Lovely place for circular walks or you can go off-piste and explore the numerous paths through the woods. Great provision for children with a huge playground and other climbing activities along the trails. Dinosaur Path is a favourite. Nice snack area with good coffee! This park also gives lots of insights into its industrial heritage. Unlimited parking for £3.60 at time of review using PayByPhone app. Love it here. 🦖
Fi L — Google review
Love Irchester country park it's got lots of different walks, great accessibility to most however an electric chair is a benefit as it can be hilly in places. The are surprises along the way for the children. There is a cafe, a counter outside for ice creams, teas, coffee, hot chocolate, sausage rolls, crisps, pasties and cakes. With picnic benches around to sit on. Beautiful play ground for the children. Tree top climb and great toilet facilities for all abilities
Donna M — Google review
Irchester Country Park is a fantastic place for a family day out! It's a very big, beautiful, and family-friendly park with plenty of natural areas to explore. There are lovely walking trails, wooded areas, and open spaces that make it perfect for picnics or just enjoying nature. The large play area is great for kids, and there’s plenty of parking available, which makes things super convenient. It's definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a peaceful outdoor escape!
Rifki A — Google review
A really well-kept country park with plenty of parking space for a reasonable price. The huge playground for the children, dino path and (paid) climbing attraction can guarantee a day full of attractions for families. We visited on Saturday so we missed the narrow gauge train museum (open only on Sundays). However, we had a fantastic couple of hours in there!
Aneta D — Google review
A lovely park with a variety of paths. Well maintained and accessible. Plenty of parking at only £3.50 for the day.

What an amazing country park! Various trails available, large playground with lots of space for a picnic, cafe and toilets and plenty of parking. There are also treehouses for kids to play in the forest - thoroughly enjoyed the visit!

Beautiful country park, perfect for walking and cycling. The children’s play area is clean and well-equipped, making it ideal for families. Plenty of parking is available, with gates closing at 5 pm, but there’s additional parking outside. Highly recommended for a day out!

Park
Upton Country Park is a newly developed park located in a beautiful countryside setting, attracting joggers, dog walkers, and nature enthusiasts. The park features over 5 miles of footpaths that lead to Kislingbury village and its fenced dog agility course. It offers easy and flat walking trails with benches for resting and free parking facilities. While it can get busy during football matches, it remains a popular spot for leisurely walks and outdoor activities like jogging and football.
Lovely big open space for a walk. Close to lots of restaurants as well if you fancy a walk and something to eat. Lots of free parking available too!
Emily T — Google review
Really nice country park with lots of options for walks and children's play. We loved all the play installations spread over the woodland, our little toddler loved it. Would highly recommend for families. Also has a little tea room.
Laurence C — Google review
Lovely.place to walk around. Could do with some of the walkways having some work done though to prevent them getting large puddles on in wet weather. The other day puddle all the way across the walk way, about four foot along it and soggy muddy grass either side.
John D — Google review
Is the first time we get here and we were lucky to have snow falling too 🥰🌧🌦❄ (in April 😱). The kids had lovely time, running, riding their bikes, ball playing. Is very adequate for large family with kids, dogs walking, running 🏃‍♂️ or just to have a blanket on the grass and enjoy the English weather (four seasons in a day 🌞🌦🌩☔🤣🤣)

Parks
Sywell Country Park, located near the village of Sywell, offers a picturesque 2.5-mile walk around its former reservoir. The park features walking paths, a butterfly garden, a cafe, and a play area for children. Visitors can explore the Waterworks Heritage Trail to learn about the park's history. The flat and accessible paths make it perfect for families and dog walkers to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage reflected in the still waters of the reservoir.
We recently visited Sywell Country Park and found it to be one of Northampton’s most enjoyable outdoor destinations. The park offers ample parking with a fee of £3.50 for up to 12 hours, making it a convenient choice for a full-day visit. Among its attractions, the children’s play area is engaging, while the butterfly garden adds a charming touch to the experience. However, the true highlight is the stunning reservoir, which offers a peaceful and scenic setting for walking or running. The walkway around the reservoir is well-maintained, with plenty of benches along the way—ideal for rest breaks or simply enjoying the view. The refreshing breeze from the water adds to the park's serene atmosphere. Overall, Sywell Country Park is a fantastic spot for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful natural setting.

How lovely! Nice and local to Northampton centre. 15mins away with good parking at £3.50 for 12hours. Well maintained paths, playground and a cafe with vegan treats. Thoroughly enjoyed the views. We even saw some grazing cows.

A wonderful, quiet place to relax, stroll, spend time with family, or have a picnic. A beautiful place full of nature, unfortunately regularly devastated by trash left by visitors.
Dominika K — Google review
A really lovely country park, route around the reservoir is just under 5K and really pleasant. Ice cream in the cafe afterwards was top notch. Paying for parking can be fiddly if you haven’t got change .. Apple Pay on my phone wouldn’t work, but was able to sort via the paybyphone app. A great place to relax and spend a few hours.
Richard H — Google review
Sywell Country Park is the sort of place where dogs think they’ve died and gone to heaven. Long winding paths, open spaces to tear around, and a reservoir big enough to make them dream of a career in wildfowl management. If your dog loves a good walk, this is basically Disneyland. You’ll see everything from tiny dachshunds strutting like they own the place to labradors leaping into the water with the grace of a cannonball. The trails are great for humans too. They’re easy enough that you can stroll along happily with a coffee, but varied enough to make you feel like you’ve actually achieved something by the end. There are woods, lakeside stretches and enough benches to stage a sit down protest if your legs give up. Families love it here as well. The kids’ play areas are the sort of contraptions that would make most adults secretly want to have a go, and there’s enough space for little ones to burn off every ounce of sugar they’ve ever eaten. Meanwhile, parents can collapse with a coffee from the café and watch the chaos unfold. Speaking of the café, it’s a handy pit stop and the cake portions are generous enough to make you forgive the occasional goose giving you side eye for not sharing. Bring snacks, bring patience and bring a camera because there’s always something entertaining going on – whether it’s a spaniel launching itself joyfully into the reservoir or a toddler trying to befriend a duck. Sywell is funny, friendly and full of life. It’s the perfect mix of nature, play and people watching, and you always leave with a happy dog, tired kids and the smug glow of having “done a proper walk.” Five stars and one honorary medal to the geese for keeping everyone on their toes.

Salcey Forest, located east of the village of Hartwell, is a former royal hunting ground that now offers a picturesque setting for outdoor activities. The forest boasts centuries-old oaks and diverse wildlife habitats. Visitors can explore three walking trails, including the easy Elephant Walk and the more challenging Church Path Trail. Additionally, there's a treetop walkway for children to enjoy. Dog owners will appreciate the off-lead policy throughout the forest.
This place is amazing for walks and dog walks. If you want to relax, come here for a walk and in the main lobby, there is a caffe, grass pit, benches, ping pong, and seven a go ape! There is multiple trails to choose from and every 50 meters or so, there is a sighn where to go. Highly recommend to go!

A lovely place to come for a walk around, great play area for kids. Only downside is the parking, it's often v busy and quite expensive
Zoe B — Google review
We should have checked the reviews before going. Not only the parking prices are higher than some other locations, I was told to pay the full penalty charge (the same as not paying at all) for unknowingly staying more than the time I initially paid for (even though the time I actually paid and drove to leave was within the time). I paid for 2 hours on the day. The walking route around the forest wasn't too big. It was not as expected. I wouldn't go here again.
Akhun M — Google review
A nice walk but wont be coming back due to the high car parking charge. I heard parking in the layby outside will get you a parking fine. Go to Harlestone Firs Forest Walk - its free!
Juan — Google review
Salcey Forest is stunning - a bit of a drive from Bedford but really worth it, especially when the weather is nice as you can spend all day there. There are several "play" areas (one at the main entrance, where the cafe is; others along the path, one where you can build your own den, another where you are in a fairy village), beautiful scenery, a treetop walk and, of course, the Zog trail. The kids really go crazy for it; you have the download the app but then you can "see" Zog and his friends on your videos and photos, with lots of fun dragon lessons to partake in. The cafe serves very nice food, the parking is reasonable (and overflow car park not too far to walk - the only inconvenient thing is you can't always pay by card so you have to do so at the information desk) and you can even rent bicycles to take around the forest. Highly recommend with kids of any age.

Amazing forest walk experience
Nidhin A — Google review
Visiting Northampton for a little get away and came across this fabulous spot. We had a really lovely 6 mile walk, beautiful scenery, nice walks, with a number of different routes to take depending on how far you wanted to walk. There are cycle routes, bridal ways, short, medium or long walks, and routes which engage children. We took the long route, which had multiple places to stop for a rest along the way. Parking was reasonable priced, toilets were very clean. Didn't go in the cafe. There is a play area for the kids at the start and another towards the end, and ping pong tables for all ages too. Unfortunately the tree top wasn't open, and didn't look like it had been for a while. Would highly recommend.
Kirsty R — Google review
Had an absolutely amazing day out. We did the long 6 mile walk which was lovely but unfortunately we didnt catch a glimpse of any deers or woodpeckers! Mostly flat not many hills etc, varied terrain. Car park on site paying, or few free spots on roadside if lucky! Theres a cafe and public toilets and a picnic area and a few childrens play areas.

Abington Park, the oldest and most renowned park in Northampton, is steeped in history and offers a wide array of attractions. Situated at the top end of Wellingborough road, this picturesque oasis is just a short walk from the town center. Divided into two sections, it boasts a charming cafe, scenic lakes, vibrant flower displays, and an intriguing museum. The park's well-preserved landscape features mature trees and lush greenery that create a tranquil atmosphere.
Absolutely brilliant. Always clean and tidy. With I mean it is. I kept clean and tidy plus usable at all times. The park is split by a road but there is a crossing so it is very safe for your children and dogs and plenty of swings and climbing frames for the children and open space for the dogs to run around. Brilliant.

It’s always a great park to go to, with a nice cafe, the bird cages, the playground and sports areas all available. The grounds are always kept neat and tidy and the park is very nice to walk around. There are large areas of grass to play sports on and there are bookable tennis courts. The playground is very large with a large variety of things to do. The pond area is also very nice.

A lovely park with plenty of amusements for the kids, aviaries, a cafe serving drinks light snacks and meals. Live brass bands etc playing in the bandstand on Sunday afternoons in summer. Thoroughly recommended and it's free to enter.
Brian O — Google review
I like this little park as it had a lot of benches to sit. Not too many dog walkers, so anyone scared of dogs can feel free. Nice trees to protect you from the heat on a sunny day. A cafeteria that sells drinks and ice cream

Parking is always an issue with this location, however I wouldn't want less park in order to create a car park. Very clean park when I went, big kids play area, lovely cafe with toilets which was great!

We love Abington Park, in any weather it's such a nice place to go. There is so much to say about it... There are two main green spaces/ parks, both with full site maps at the main entrance points if you need to orientate yourself in the first few visits. I did recently notice a new sign for the park run they've set up. The sign was located between the big pond and the football pitch on the path running juxtaposed to the play area path. The running route they've set up is for beginners through to experienced and there are new post markers installed around route (around the football pitch and mini forest) shown on the sign post for distance/route reminders, etc. We tend to walk our dog all over and meet with friends, letting the children explore the winding paths & through the trees. I've never seen so many squirrels in my life in one place, so that's always cute. The big pond is great for wildlife and seeing different birds, we have seen Herons in the smaller pond too. The birds (ducks/geese/swans/Moorhens/seagulls/pigeons, etc) have all been fed too often, so they are really greedy and will approach if you stand still. The boating lake next to the big pond is great if you have remote control boats. In the summer, it also has ride on mini boats and pedalos you have to pay to use. There tends to be a fair in summer near the play area. And you will often see people gather here for parties with tents/pop up gazebos etc, dotted everywhere, so it's really family friendly, and most people you see will talk or smile. You will feel the community spirit for sure if you want to. The play area is great for the kids. They've recently fixed some items (roundabout/landrover, etc) and built a new climbing frame for Littler Littles. Theres something for all ages here! In the warmer months there are usually 2 ice cream trucks parked near the traffic lights near the play area if in need of a yummy treat. Crossing over the traffic lights past the play area and ear the church, youll find the museum/band stand/cafe/toilets/bird walk. The cafe is great if you need a hot / cold drink or little ones fancy some ice cream in any weather - indoor & outdoor seating is available and they also have a nice lunch selection too. It's a little pricey for a quick bite, but it shouldn't put you off if you're not expecting to eat or drink there. The cafe also sells balls/Frisbees/bubbles, etc, so if you're going for a spontaneous visit, it's very handy. Near the cafe is the bird walk, which I think is open through the week, I know it's usually open until around 3 pm on Saturdays but not Sundays, I find. The museum is one place I keep meaning to explore but don't get around to doing, but that looks good. They often have events throughout the year advertised at the traffic light crossing between the two green spaces. There is sometimes a band playing on the band stand but mostly it's empty and the kids can go check it out. Over all its well maintained dog friendly park with lots to do, something for everyone... you'll often see the ground people maintaining it, driving around doing what they do best.

Lake
Nestled in the picturesque Nene Valley of Northamptonshire, Stanwick Lakes is a sprawling 750-acre nature reserve and outdoor attraction that promises an unforgettable experience for all. This enchanting destination seamlessly blends adventure with tranquility, featuring expansive play areas perfect for families seeking fun and excitement. Nature enthusiasts will delight in the vast open spaces and scenic paths that meander through the landscape, offering stunning views where serene waters reflect clear blue skies.
Lovely walks around the lakes, remember to wear your welly boots, great play areas for the kids, coffee available but be prepared to wait, the coffee shop gets busy
Therese R — Google review
Stanwick Lakes: A Nature Lover's Haven successfully blends conservation, recreation, and education. It’s not a manicured country park but a wonderfully wild and spacious place to enjoy the outdoors. Perfect for a full day out with the family, a refreshing bike ride, or a quiet walk with the dog. The car parking fee (which goes towards maintaining the reserve) can catch first-timers off guard, so it's best to budget for that. While there's a nice café, it can get very busy on weekends. Many visitors bring a picnic to enjoy at one of the numerous benches or designated areas.

Grate place to take the kids it's free you just pay for the carpark. Adults will love this place to lots of walks around the lakes and plenty of places to get ice cream. Tea. Coffee . And food in the visitors centre.

Wonderful open space with lots of activities aimed at young children, we visited today as they had a viking experience on during Easter half term. Our children enjoyed dressing up, making swords and shields and the activity pack was a lovely touch. The indoor cafe offers a great variety of hot and cold drinks, treats and pocket money toys.
Emma — Google review
Stanwick lakes is a nicely landscaped former set of gravel pits along the A45 running between Rushden and Raunds. There are safe but adventurous play areas for children and lovely level well maintained paths that lead you on walks of various lengths taking in waterside vistas, woodlands and riverside walks. There is a per vehicle charge of £3.60 for all day which makes it good value for a family looking to spend a day. For me as a single pensioner it is a little too expensive to visit daily though it is possible to buy a year pass, I think this was around £35 but they also charge £5 for the initial card which again as a pensioner is a bit steep. There is a visitor centre that sells the usual savouries and drinks as well as souvenirs. All in all it is a lovely place but I’m priced out of regular visits especially as there are free places which are similar nearby.

Daventry Country Park, located just a mile from the town center, offers a serene escape into nature. The park features a large reservoir surrounded by woodland and meadow trails where visitors can spot ducks and geese. Families can enjoy the adventure playground, outdoor gym equipment, bird hides, and a cafe offering hot and cold food. Wheelchair-accessible trails provide easy access to the park's natural beauty and wildlife viewing points.
Plenty of parking on Weekdays and good clean toilets. There is a small cafe with an outdoor area useful to shelter from the odd rainy day. The walks around the lake are popular with dog walkers and parents with smaller children
Gareth G — Google review
It's a wonderful and accessible place, thanks to the hard work of their ground crew, staff and volunteers, especially since they completed the new accessible platform. Surfaces are a mix of compacted grit, tarmac and dirt tracks, with some muddy areas during the winter/wet months, but is only on the far side of water and majority of routes are fine and you'll still get to enjoy most of it. There are two disabled toilets combined with baby changing and are a little cramped in my opinion, hence the 4*, a changing places unit would be amazing here if they could get a grant for one, but it's still a great place to get outdoors and I love it.

I visited Daventry Country Park twice, and both times felt refreshing and peaceful. The reservoir walk was calming, surrounded by greenery and bird calls. On my last visit, I wandered into the nearby village and found a beautiful canal-side road. It was quiet, almost hidden, with the still water reflecting the sky the kind of place that makes you slow down and just enjoy the moment. Those simple walks made the trip feel really special.

Lovely place for a walk with the pram, slightly bumpy in places but my little one still fell asleep! Cafe and playground available, good day out. Approx £1 per hour for parking which can be cash, card or phone app.

Great walk round with the dogs. And tires kids out. I love the cafe, good selection and nice they have dog ice cream 🍦

A lovely park even with the water level of the reservoir being low. Cafe, views, educational tags, well maintained paths and signage.

Lovely! Good (2.8km) walk around the reservoir with lots of stopping places and benches for a pause if needed. The little cafe is delightful and the servers friendly and efficient. We loved the children’s playground! I would like to see more picnic tables or places where we could bring our own chairs or sit on the grass for picnics. But the park is a great place for a family gathering and the wooded environment gave the feeling of being miles from anywhere. Highly recommended!

Hi All, nice and quiet peace of nature for everyone, hiking trails, cycling paths, dog-friendly paths too. There is a playground for kids and, a huge parking lot. Walking, running or cycling around the lake takes around 11km Highly recommended for all. Thank you, will come again. 🫡🙂

Lovely place. I wish my dog was allowed off the lead around the lake itself, but lovely nonetheless. There were some of the lead areas which my Pointer enjoyed thoroughly.

Great spot for a walk, bike ride, picnic and even water sports. Car park has a cafe and toilet facilities. You can also walk around the reservoir by following a very straight forward gravel path. Ideal for anyone

Great for walking the dog. We really enjoy the peace and quiet and the views onto the Reservoir. It takes roughly 2.5 hours to walk around the lake. Some people walk, some run or others are cycling round. There are toilets and a cafe at the main car park with a lovely sized playground for the kids. Had some food at the cafe today. The food was lovely. I chose chorizo and mozzarella toasties which came with a small pot of tasty chips and a cherry flavour flapjack. The service was polite and very professional.

First time I have visited. Took my dog and enjoyed a long walk through woodlands, fields and tracks. All well signposted. Large car park well marked out with ANPR on entry pay on exit so you dont need to worry about overstaying. Toilets were very clean. Cafe a little expensive and slow service on food but otherwise a great place to visit and shall be going again soon

Small visitor centre, with toilets. Good parking. Paths well maintained. Nice for a walk around the lake and several hides for bird watching.

My absolute favourite nature reserve and the best place for bird watching! A lovely long walk with lots of bird hides to stop and watch from.

A fantastic afternoon walk at Summer Leys Nature Reserve in Northamptonshire! Scenic lakeside trails bursting with water birds, herons, swans, egrets, and even some sheep. A vital conservation haven for wildlife, perfect for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Highly recommended for a peaceful, biodiverse escape.

Limited parking and I think it's a flat rate £4. Pay and display. I walked the long way and some parts there is no view, but there is plenty of wildlife to see when there bushes are less thick, which is my favourite thing to do.

Lovely walk in nature. Spotted lots of different birds species, good placement of hides for bird and nature spotting. Plenty of seats just in case you need a rest or just want to enjoy the views.

Great reserve with plenty of different trails and hides. Abundant bird life too, I saw 46 different species in just under and hour whilst I was here. The paths were a bit wet so if it has rained a lot bring your wellies.

Stunning place, nature at its best. Beware the parking machine, it didn't let me add my reg number, but I was able to purchase a whole day ticket, however now I have £100 fine as the ANPR says I didn't pay!

Nice roughly 2 mile walk with paid parking £4 for 4 hrs. Contactless payment as well or via app. Well looked after and maps everywhere, clear path and no rubbish anywhere. Quite few places you can sit as viewpoint, definitely bring your binoculars and a camera if you're into birdwatching. Definitely worth to revisit with good weather.

Abbey
Heritage building
Delapré Abbey is a captivating historical site nestled in Northampton, boasting over 900 years of rich and varied history. Originally established as a Cluniac nunnery, it has witnessed significant events like the Battle of Northampton during the Wars of the Roses. Today, this disestablished abbey is undergoing restoration and sits within an expansive 550 acres of picturesque parkland, making it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls amidst nature's beauty.
This is the first time I visit the Delapré Abbey becauseof the heritage open day. Before the visit, it's tearoom is already well known for the food. And yes, it is very amazing and the food is delicious. The staff is very lovely and helpful. Their customer service is brilliant even it is busy in the lunch hour. And for the Delapré Abbey, it is fantastic. The guided tour is highly recommended and lots of history can be explored and learned. The staff are very lovely too.
Jasmine L — Google review
Historical and cultural place. Various events are organised in certain periods. The building is also beautiful. A peaceful place in green and I often go for a walk here.
Mehmet A — Google review
We don't live nearby, and learned by chance about the Abbey, well worth the 45 minute drive to visit, (and free entry with HHA membership). A warm welcome by volunteer staff, and a brilliant guided tour of the building itself with Philip, who explained 900 years of history with never a dull moment! A good lunch in the Orangery café, and then we returned to the house to visit the few rooms not included in the tour; lots more information, activities for children, relaxed with books and games in the library, plenty of 'hands on' things to do. The grounds and gardens are extensive, too much to see in one visit; we'll be back!
Christine B — Google review
A peaceful and beautiful place to unwind. Delapré Abbey and the surrounding parkland offer a perfect escape from the busy town. I went for an early morning run and found the area ideal—quiet, clean, and full of natural beauty. It's also a wonderfully tranquil spot for a peaceful walk, especially if you’re out with a dog. There’s a lovely coffee shop on-site serving delicious coffee and pastries, with both indoor seating and a charming outdoor terrace. The Abbey itself is rich in history, and the grounds are beautifully maintained, with open spaces, gardens, and wooded trails. Whether you're into history, fitness, nature, or just a relaxing stroll with your dog, Delapré Abbey is a hidden gem in Northampton. I’ll definitely be returning!
Simona D — Google review

We booked on to the ‘Unusual Happenings’ ghost tour. It was our first time visiting the abbey and we had such a good time. Our tour guide was excellent and we found her research and enthusiasm surrounding the building’s history and ghost sightings really infectious. We’re already planning a return in the daytime. The dinner was perfectly themed and really delightful, the attention to detail was fantastic. It was a wonderful first impression and it’s nice to know there is such a gem on our doorstep! Thanks to all the team for making our night special :)

Well worth a visit. There is plenty of ground and garden to walk and have an explore. Inside, there are interactive activities suitable for the young and old which help with learning about living in the past. To finish, do not leave without having a drink and bite to eat in the cafe.

Badby Wood, situated on the Fawsley Estate just south of Daventry, is a picturesque area marked as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its rich flora and fauna. The wood features an old gatehouse entrance and offers stunning views of the 15th-century Fawsley Hall. It's a great spot for walking, with options like the 12-mile Knightley Way or shorter routes for those seeking a more leisurely stroll.
Beautiful woods worth a visit. The main foot path is currently closed but you can enter through the playing field. Not sure how long it will be closed.

The most incredible carpet of bluebells as far as the eye can see - a real springtime treat for the senses.
Vicky P — Google review
Badby woods has to be one of the best walking areas for both humans and your four legged friends. The site is designated as a SSSI site and is managed and owned by the Fawsley Hall estates. It has situated in the Northamptonshire countryside and benefits from having an extensive range of both evergreens and deciduous trees. If your heading out then be mindful parking is very restricted and you may have to park considerately in the Badby village and walk in. Consult a map or an OS Map to guide you as it can be accessed from many approaches. As your ascent begins you'll be treated with glorious views over countryside and once in the main belly of the wood the landscape and underfoot terrain changes. In some places the ascent can be fairly steep and has multiple dug outs and burrows so exercise caution as you walk. The feeling of being surrounded by hundreds of trees is awe inspiring. The canopy in many places can be dense which adds a sense of drama and charm. If you time your visit with the bloom of the bluebells you'll be in for a treat as the entire floor is decorated with a magnificent blue bloom. Contrasting against the green is worthy of your camera being an essential part of your kit. Please take note of the byelaws no fires, no camping and to clean up after your dog. There are no bins so ensure you take your rubbish home with you. Badby woods is a must for anyone wanting to have a feeling of escapism from daily challenges we all face and to be at one with nature, albeit for a brief moment. Come along I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

You can even have a BBQ in the designated area, or grab a drink/bite and enjoy it when looking at the tranquility of the water. An absolute gem!

Honestly one of the best days out I've ever had with my daughter. Gorgeous, well maintained paths everywhere. Bird hides to watch over the lakes (while she napped). A big, airy cafe with delicious coffee. Lovely museum with staff who clearly adore what they do! We had so much fun talking to the people who were making a dugout canoe with bronze age tools, and exploring the garden, especially after seeing the spinning and weaving and learning about the plants that make the dyes. My daughter adored playing in the adventure play, of course. There's running water and sand, cute little play beach huts, a mural, slides, more than enough to entertain a toddler for hours! It was really lovely and plenty of seating and shade all around. We will definitely be back with my husband for another full day and hopefully add in some cycling 😊😊 Overall, really cannot say enough about how great the site was but even more so how wonderful every staff and volunteer was everywhere we went during our visit. The kindness, patience, and passion was just beyond what you could ask and we really appreciate it!

Absolutely lovely day out with all of my family which included 19 13 13 10 & 10 year old. There was so much to do and see around the whole of the lakes. My kids especially loved the assault course as did my partner (a little to much if you ask me) 😅. The only thing that I found was missing was bins on the walk ways I understand its for safety reasons but the amount of plastic bottles that were just dropped on the floor was awful. My kids did pick up the bottles they could whilst walking round but had to keep hold of them until the bin at the playground area. Other than that we had a fantastic time. Finished of with a lovely picnic near the playground for my youngest 2.

Love visiting here! Went to a netwalking event held in their conference room with walk around small lake. Facilities were clean and food was delicious (bacon sandwich). Great provision for tea, coffee and selection of cold drinks for the event. Staff were friendly and helpful. Outside facilities are the best part, beautiful nature and well kept paths. Usually you need to pay for car park but as we were at an event, parking was free.

I recently spent a few hours at Stanwick Lakes Country Park (Northamptonshire) and had a thoroughly relaxed and memorable time. The setting is beautiful — wide open spaces, shimmering lakes, and plenty of winding paths through nature. Whether you’re walking seriously or just pottering, the place has a lovely peaceful pace. There’s also an impressive adventure playground (and zip-line/assault-course type features) that means if you’re with kids you’ll very likely hear squeals of delight from the central hub of the park. On the nature side, it’s just as good. The bird-hides, wetland spaces and trails provide a chance to slow down, sit on a bench and watch things happen quietly around you. It’s not just manic play and activity—there are corners of genuine calm and reflection. Like all UK parks do go prepared if it’s been raining: as paths can be muddy and may be dry foot wear
Nicholas M — Google review
What a great place! So much for the kids to do and see. The water feature is great, the climbing frame is well kept and very safe. The toilets are always kept clean and there is a great choice for food and drinks. Actually they have really nice coffee which is rare. Would be good with a few more benches as there is only a few compared to how many visitors they get but bring a picnic blanket and you'll be fine

Only recently found out about this place, and what a stunning area huge doesnt even come close! So many walks amazing scenery. Lots of trees, beautiful to walk about in, in the summer when it's warm. You can forage fruit in different parts at the end of Summer. It's a shame the motorway is so close and noisy and I'm sure the air quality is detrimented. Good to see the Highland Cattle brought over from Waterloo Cottage Farm and Farm Shop in Great Oxenden! A brilliant small country park, perfect for children. My wife and I, along with our toddler, visited for the first time mid-week for an autumn adventure and had a lovely day. The car park isn’t lined, making it easy to park, leaving plenty of room. The park itself isn’t very big, so it doesn’t take long to walk around; however, walkers do have the option to walk out of the park and into Oundle. The trails within the park are fun, with lots of wooden structures dotted around. Most importantly, the play area is excellent. The 360-degree rotating excavator was a personal favourite! There is a zip line, good-sized climbing frames, swings, including a duo swing, slides, a few water play pieces, and a separate toddler play area by the café. We had an amazing day and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Visited this country park on a Monday in the summer holiday with our 4 year old and our baby. The park has walks that were easily accessible with a buggy. Parking was £3.50 for the day - car parks were grass. Our 4 year old loved the playgrounds, the equipment was varied - zip line, slides, climbing frames, swings and a sandpit area with water. The cafe was affordable (ca. £8 for a sandwich with crisps and salad, and £5.50 for a kids meal). The walks are close to open water, so if walking with children it is necessary to keep them close.

Absolutely fascinating place specially in April or Early May as bluebells bloom everywhere on the forest floor. Many trails inside so even if it gets crowded inside you wont cross many people. Not much difficult to take pushchair or wheelchair along if it hasn't rained. Very good for Dogs too. Even on sunny day with scorching heat, inside its pleasant. Just under 40 min from Leam/Warwick. Parking can be tricky as limited spaces dedicated but roadside is wide enough to parallel park no of cars.

Not very busy either considering it was a lovely day.

This nature reserve has a path all the way around. There are 2 places to park. You can park at thrapston gravel pits which is behind Nene valley surgery thrapston. Drive down the thin road at the side of the surgery to the left. Parking is free. You can also park in Aldwinkle in a small car park off of Lowick Lane next to the bend. Dogs must be kept on leads. The paths are fairly easy but not suitable for pushchairs. Very muddy in winter. No toilets or cafes. A few benches to rest on, on the way around. A few bird hide huts too. It took us an hour and 15 minutes to walk around at a fairly slow pace. A nice non commercial place to walk, and you can make the walk slightly longer with a few off shoots if required.

Great walk, parking is at Auldwincle, or park at meadow lane, thrapston. You can walk around the lakes, takes over 1.5hours, as the smaller lake is fenced off. I done this walk on my own with Buddy, I felt completely safe. There are plenty of various footpath tracks to explore. Loved it.

Nestled in a tranquil setting, Boddington Reservoir is a hidden gem for nature lovers and families alike. Just a short drive from Sedgebrook Hall, this picturesque spot offers an array of walking paths perfect for dog owners and those with children. The gentle terrain around the water's edge makes it easy to explore while enjoying birdwatching or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere.
A beautiful place for a short walk - the entire circuit of the reservoir is just over a mile and a quarter. Wear suitable footwear: we visited after a couple of days of rain and started by walking past the sailing club and going 'clockwise' around the reservoir and it was somewhat muddy underfoot at times, but not impassable. Once you get to the half way point, there are a lot of marked places for fishermen although not many there when we visited. A beautiful, tranquil spot that's always pleasant for a walk.
Carol H — Google review
Boddington is a great nature walk with lots of wildlife and opportunities for excitement. There is a longer nature reserve walk for lovers of the outdoors and a shorter reservoir walk if you prefer to just walk and view. The reservoir also has opportunities for fishing if you have a license and is home to the Banbury sailing club. The walk around the reservoir from the main car park takes anywhere between an hour to three hours depending on how much you will stop and how fast you walk. Children will also often slow you down as they get intrigued by the wildlife and water around them. Overall an amazing place to have a walk but not a very long activity. I also don't think it's particularly good if you would have to drive a long way just for this, amazing if you're in the area though.

Sit and fish or walk around this beautiful 65-acre reservoir with loads of parking. The fishing is for everyone from the serious match fit angler to the midweeker who just wants to escape screaming kids and nagging partner ;) If you can't be bothered to haul in the carp, roach, perch and pike then the path that winds around the reservoir takes about 45 minutes to do in full. Surrounded by sunning Northamptonshire countryside, there are picnic benches and loads of Wildlife to spot. Be warned that during the winter parts of the paths are rather muddy, so if it's been raining take your wellies. Although Banbury Sailing Club is also situated on the reservoir, I am terrible on water, so I can't comment it's amenities.

Bradlaugh Fields & Barn is a delightful green oasis nestled behind a local Morrisons on Kettering Road in Northampton. This former golf course has become a beloved spot for dog walkers and nature enthusiasts alike, especially during the pandemic when many locals discovered its charm. With various entrances and ample free parking, it offers diverse terrain that caters to all dogs, making it an ideal place to stretch your legs while enjoying the great outdoors.
Bradlaugh Fields & Barn is the perfect place for a peaceful walk, whether you're out enjoying nature, taking the kids for some fresh air, or bringing your dog along (on a lead, of course!). The beautiful forest paths, open green spaces, and rich wildlife make it a wonderful escape from the busy city. It’s well-maintained, quiet, and a great spot to unwind and reconnect with nature. I absolutely love visiting—it's a hidden gem for families, nature lovers, and responsible dog walkers!

Chellie H — Google review
Beautiful area, open space, with lots of nature to see and well looked after. Visited regulary by locals who all know each other, it has a really nice community spirit. The barn is a lovely friendly place on a Saturday morning to have a coffee - ran by volunteers. The field by the barn is usually used by families and children during the day. A lovely local regulary paints small stones and hides them around the barn area for the children (and adults) to find. A great children's play park, and loads of trees and areas to explore. The barn itself runs numerous groups and events, all detailed on their Facebook page. The top fields are mostly child free and a great place to walk, expecially with your dog. Again lots of open space for ball throwing and dogs to run and play. Nathan, a local dog trainer and behaviourist, does dog walks on a Saturday morning attended by dozens of people. With no close roads for parents or dog owners to be overly concerned about, friendly locals and with its green flag status, Bradlaugh fields and Barn is a gem of a place.

We visited for the Christmas Light Trail. It was absolutely phenomenal. Planned really well. Car parking staff were attentive. Care was taken for the trail to be as accessible as possible given the rain and inevitable mud. We can't wait to attend next year!

Was at the summertime festival in the park and it was well attended, the crowd had fun time, dog walkers were strolling by, families with their baby strollers were enjoying the environment. The history of the Abbey was on display for all to read and see. The rest room was a mixture modern decoration and ancient bricks like a huge contrast of time interwoven. The trees help to soothe the temperature even in high temperature

Winter lights trail was wonderful, I would highly recommend wellies! I didn’t have mine and it was very muddy!! The trail itself was really lovely, some very cute light shows and the accompanying music was perfectly suited. The whole spectacle was beautiful and the food was good (slightly overpriced but as expected) the staff were also really friendly and accommodating, they offered to take pics as it was just me and my toddler grandson. Good facilities and really easy to book online. My only suggestion would be to put the honeycomb flooring in more areas to avoid the mud, navigating with a buggy was, at times, difficult, but not impossible. A perfect Family day out.

Beautiful park that I've been walking through my whole life. It's a very nice park with easy and accessible paths to get through. The grass is always looked after and even the more quiet pathways between the trees are safe. The lake nearby is always nice, with other walkways around it. Having grown up in Northampton, I was presently surprised to discover this large community park for the very first time. We took a walk from the nearby Weston Favell Shopping Centre to the park following a recommendation from a family member. The park is clearly well used and popular with the local community and includes many facilities including; a lake, two playgrounds, a basketball / five a side football court, and a full size football pitch. You can take several walks around and cross the park and many walking routes include all year round paths. The park, like many, could benefit from a little TLC but generally speaking most of the public areas are in good shape. Definitely worth a visit and good fun for families of all ages.

Pitsford Reservoir is a picturesque destination offering a delightful waterside cycling and walking trail, with the option to hire bikes at the Brixworth visitor center. The winding path through woodlands provides opportunities for wildlife sightings and boasts numerous benches for relaxation. Families can make use of the children's area and picnic tables, while visitors can also enjoy a cafe on-site.
Fabulous walking lots of benches if you want a sit with Lovely views across the water. I walked all round the reservoir the winding path up gentle hills takes you through woodlands with some good wildlife taking about about 2 hrs I believe you can also hire bikes. Good children's area lots picnic tables. Take your own food and drinks! There is a cafe but the service when I was waiting to order a coffee was not good. Often ignored by staff a lady in front of me had ordered and was waiting on the sidelines (where you are meant to hang around for your order) for 2 cans of pop and a slice of cake this took 25 minutes !! So taking your own will avoid this unnecessary waste of time. Honestly watching paint dry is more fun..that aside I had spent a jolly nice day walking and enjoying nature

Another beautiful afternoon wandering around the reservoir. There is a well laid gravel path around the right half of the reservoir. 🌳 Last Sunday (06/04), my boyfriend, Harry and I visited the stunning Pitsford Water in Northamptonshire. Managed by Anglian Water and The Wildlife Trust, I got free entry for us both due to being a member of the latter. An eight and a half mile walk, this takes a good few hours and we were both ready for a meal when we finished! The biodiversity in this protected area really is sensational and we spotted a number of Orange-tip butterflies (my favourite species), as well as a grebe! Both Harry and I felt energised by this cathartic walk and would both love to visit again in the summer! I can highly recommend it! 🤩
Annabel W — Google review
I recently renewed my yearly pass to this peaceful Nature Reserve so that I might remember the inspiring rambles my dear, late wife shared when we first discovered its attractions some 30 years ago. I prepared myself for disappointment as so much of our local, rural environment , though still offering great experiences to walkers (particularly now that footpath and bridleway signage is more evident and accurate than it ever was) has become less rich in wildlife since intensive farming has increased and so much of our countryside is managed by visiting contractors using machinery more suited to the prairies than our smaller enclosed fields. However, I was wrong! This amenity is sensitively and expertly managed and the maps and signage are good. If you can visit reasonably early on a weekday, you should be able to park at the fishing lodge and either choose to stroll and sit on the many well-placed benches or tackle the complete circuit the path affords (about 7 or 8 miles, depending on whether diversions are in place). Take photos along the way and enjoy!

Also a Menagerie a mini zoo with Meerkat and other animals. There is a café near the car park, a play area for kids, and a ice cream hut with friendly staff. You can see the house but it's not open to the public, but the parish church is open for a quick look around. Also an arboretum of trees to walk though with pair of old stone bridges with a long pond. One bit was dry in summer 2025 after the drought.

Absolutely stunning and peaceful estate, perfect for a family day out. The grand tree-lined driveway creates a beautiful first impression, with free parking, clean facilities, and a welcoming tearoom offering drinks, cakes, and light meals on the terrace. The grounds surround Castle Ashby, a magnificent Elizabethan-style mansion built in the late 16th century, later enhanced with classical architectural features. Its historic presence adds depth and elegance to the entire visit. A short walk from the entrance takes you to the orangery, built in the 19th century in a refined Victorian Italianate style. Inside, you'll find a tranquil pond with fish, lush exotic plants, and classical sculptures that match the era's aesthetics. Nearby stands the medieval Church of St Mary Magdalene, connected by a lovely woodland path that leads to an 18th-century terracotta bridge. Just past the bridge, there is a covered observation hut with two large benches and an information panel to help you identify local fish and bird species in the water below. Continuing your walk, you’ll reach a charming small animal zoo—undoubtedly the highlight for many visitors. The meerkat enclosure is a joy to watch, and you’ll also see parrots, goats, pigs, ducks, and tiny monkeys. After leaving the zoo, the path leads through a lavender-filled alley and loops back toward the orangery. The full visit takes about two hours, and bringing a picnic blanket and snacks is highly recommended. The grounds close at 4 PM, and entry is £14 per adult, which is well worth it for the history, nature, and relaxing atmosphere. A truly memorable and enriching experience.

There's lots to see and do, and even a small cafe on entry! Perfect for a summer's day out. Adult tickets cost £13 online, or £14 if you just show up. There is a small but lovely shopping area 5 minutes around the corner too!

Visited on a Monday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyrd, walked round with a smile on my face. Beautiful grounds and planting, including orangery, arboretum and menagerie of animals. A cafe serving lunch and cakes at the entrance too. Would highly recommend.

National Trust - Lyveden is an intriguing Elizabethan lodge set in a moated, terraced garden with nature walks. Built by Sir Thomas Tresham to symbolize his Catholic faith, the property remains incomplete and virtually unchanged since his death in 1605. Visitors can explore tranquil moats, viewing terraces, an Elizabethan orchard, and a mysterious garden lodge adorned with religious symbols.
Beautiful peaceful place for a walk, sadly the ruins are closed at the moment due to loose stonework, but still make a great backdrop for photos, the coffee shop serves a nice selection of reasonable food/drink
Allmuth B — Google review
It covers a large area suitable for dog walkers and ideal for walkers as paths are well marked out. The surrounds are very peaceful. The walk through the orchard and the labyrinth, leading up to the remarkable 17th-century unfinished garden lodge, felt like stepping back in time. There are toilets and a café as you approach the lodge in the Manor House. Currently the Lodge is closed so you can't access it due to loose stonework but the buildings and grounds really make it a special place to visit.
Nigel S — Google review
It's an interesting unfinished house with a story to it (no spoilers). The trouble is, at the time, there wasn't much to see when you got to the door because there was work being done on the front. So I couldn't take a look on the inside apart from through the windows. It's on a National Trust site so anyone who is a member can go along for free. I wasn't so paid to get in. It would only be fair to say that there are other attractions on that same site. It's not just a roofless old house in the middle of a field. There is a walkable labyrinth, isn't like a maze because it is supposed to have a single route. So it's technically not a labyrinth because of that. But it's not a maze either. So... Alright. I'll stop with the geeky stuff now. That's another story. The site has a really nice cafe and a period house which included Elizabethan dancing. Be careful, they rope you into jt! Don't ask how I know 😁

I recently spent a weekend visiting Lyveden, and it was an absolutely beautiful and memorable experience. From the moment I arrived at the Manor House, the peaceful surroundings set the tone for a truly tranquil day. The walk through the orchard and the labyrinth, leading up to the remarkable 17th-century unfinished garden lodge, felt like stepping back in time. Nature and history seemed to embrace each other here, creating an atmosphere where the past whispers through the breeze. The sense of heritage is almost tangible, making it a deeply reflective and enriching visit. I loved every minute and am already looking forward to returning.

Peaceful. We watched a kite scouting for dinner. We meandered through fruit trees and climbed the hillocks next to the moat around the maze. Great ice-cream

Great place to come and get away from the day to day life. This is a hidden treasure. The day I visited it was lovely and quiet and even on a Saturday! Great manor house and the building ruin is amazing. It's even better because you can go inside and get a feeling for what life would have been like many years ago. Great for dogs as you can easily access the Lyveden way trail.
Ashley H — Google review
It is such a beautiful, peaceful place. Free for members, £9.50 for the day (adult) but free parking also. That gets you into the manor, lodge, and surrounding grounds. It has so much to offer, with a delicious cafe inside the Manor, alongside a room upstairs where you can relax and have a read. Everywhere is easily accessible and is a lovely place to take the doggos! It's such a tranquil place, and I shall certainly visit again when I need some 'time out'.

Fineshade Wood, located within the ancient Rockingham Forest, offers a range of family-friendly activities and amenities. Visitors can explore walking paths, a forest horse-riding trail, kids' playgrounds, and an art gallery. The Grounds Cafe at Top Lodge provides freshly made picnic options for families returning from woodland activities. This rare habitat is home to native wildlife such as woodcocks, red kites, rabbits, foxes, and deer.
I have been visiting here for over 5 years, enjoying the walks. It’s beautiful, miles of well signposted trails for short walks or longer treks. The annual parking pass is reasonably priced and well worth the investment, as you can’t get bored of the peaceful environment. The cafe offers good food and drinks, at a fair cost. In summer time there is also a nice outdoor seating area. I’ve hired bikes and the staff were helpful and it added to a day out. Toilets are clean and easy to access. Overall I’d highly recommend this little bit of peace and calm, for solo walkers, couples or families. Walkers, runners or cyclists alike.

Really nice horse trail, nice parking could be slightly larger for horse boxes. Clean tidy and safe. Parking £7 for the day cafe and kids playground in the trees. Great family afternoon out
Danny0570 — Google review
Great place for walking along parts of the Jurassic Way. You can also see the remains of a motte and bailey castle known as Castle Hymel which now has Fineshade Abbey in the middle of it. There is also an old disused railway line which you can walk along parts of.

Lovely place to walk dog. I use a wheelchair and power attachment can be a bit bumpy in places but overall manageable

A beautiful place to visit. Different walks to choose from. Great for all the family.

Lovely area for walking and cycling. Paths clearly marked, and lots to interest children.
Merina W — Google review
A very nice walk along well made up paths. Signage for the different routes was very clear. Initially I thought that the car parking was expensive (£3.50 for 1hr. £6.50 for 2hrs) but on hindsight well worth the money especially if you have a family. Didn't try the café so can't comment. The toilets were nice and clean
Tim C — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place we did two trails and a wonderful time with my boyfriend and his best friend. We saw lots of buzzards, red kites and even a kestrel. The toilets were something to be desired portaloos for the guys and the womens were all broken with no loo roll. The cafe was also overpriced but all in all it was a wonderful day. Would definitely go back ❤️

Hunsbury Hill is a serene green space that houses the remnants of an ancient hilltop Iron Age hill fort and a Victorian quarry. Dating back to about 500 BC, the Iron Age saw the construction of several hill-forts in the area, with Hunsbury Hill being notably significant. The Hunsbury Hill Country Park Circular Walk offers a scenic 3.
Love the tree trail as an addition to the walk. Loved lesring about the trees around. The place is absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely come back.
Harmony-Pearl D — Google review
I'd not been to this lovely country park since childhood. It's surprisingly bigger than anticipated and well isolated from the road in places (no noise other than the trees). The walk around the iron age fort is short but enjoyable and the snippets of history around the park are welcome.

A fabulous big, open park for walking, dogs, running, picnics and more.
Graham S — Google review
Great place to walk, run or ride bikes, park area for kids and lots of open fields for dogs to run around
Assure A — Google review
With free parking and a little cafe on site the little country park offers a lot for the younger Walker. The path around it isn't too long, just less that 2km all the way around with plenty to see and do, including a play park. Definitely worth a look if you have an afternoon or morning to spare.
Hazel R — Google review
The small and quaint cafe is beautiful place cheap and proper mugs for the coffees and the food lovely and the park the grandkids absolutely loved the walks and playing area .will be there often now
Michael M — Google review
Great day out for children and adults. Loads to do. The children will rest easy tonight. Water, fields, ducks, swans, playground. Can't be beaten. Grandparents and parents put your running shoes on! Once they are in this beautifully kept open space freedom ensues.

Great place for a walk if you want to get away from the busy, noisy, car infested everydays. Seems like a good place for running, especially if you prefer off road tracks. Definitely coming back for that.

The parking area at Brampton Valley Way, known as Boughton Car Park, offers ample space for vehicles. The walk itself is pleasantly enjoyable, with the only drawback being some individuals who fail to clean up after their dogs. It is important to exercise caution while walking due to the frequent presence of dog waste every 50 yards or so. Additionally, visitors can consider stopping at Brampton Half for a meal, which is highly recommended and pet-friendly.
Beautiful walk through the tunnel along the old railway line. Perfect for an afternoon stroll, cycle or dog walk.
Maggi S — Google review
Always a nice walk along the railway line between the two pubs. Both pubs are nice, so dinner at one pudding at the other. If you like old trains it a plus.
William J — Google review
Great place to walk and had coffee shop which you can rest and get hot and cold food
Elaine M — Google review
Lots of parking, the walk itself is really nice the only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because of others people who cant seem to clean up after their dogs!. I am responsible and always clean up after mine. But there was so much it was almost every 50 yards of so. Be careful where you step, stop and have something to eat at brampton half if you can also very good and they welcome dogs
Michael G — Google review
It's a free car park over the road from the Windhover pub. A rather rough surface but does the job. Ideal if you are using the Brampton Valley Way for cycling or walking. I haven't used it recently but on the many occasions I did use it I experienced no problems whilst the car was left there for a considerable amount of time.
Phil J — Google review
Good access to the brampton valley way. Thr surface of the car park is gravel there are rather large pot holes but these are more large shallow craters should be fine if you take it slow but for a free car park you don't expect it to be perfect.
UKxGREENY U — Google review
Ok but not the best for dog walker as inconsiderate bikers bomb it down the path with no care or concern. Beautiful scenery though.
