Can't actually Believe I ve just paid £13 for basically a fish finger, completely outrageous, I understand it's a small but I could of got a large in a restaurant for that price. I'm honestly so disappointed and feel ripped off never going back No wonder there are no english fish and chips shops left this is unacceptable 😢

I've just been here for the first time. All I got was a portion of cheesy chips, but they were great. Chips nicely thick cut with a crisp to them and really hot, with plenty of cheese put on the top. Came in a good quality box and very good portion size. The rest of the food I saw also looked great and it was very busy, so that says it all. 5 stars from me. 👍🏻

Lovely food, at very decent prices. This is a reasonably priced with reasonable quality fish. Nick's Plaice is of a high standard all around. Keir berry clean and tidy and had been kept running by the lively members of staff....

I had a lunchtime special - small cod, chips & mushy peas (not forgetting a proper slice of lemon for the fish!) It was all freshly cooked, and was an appropriate sized portion for me. All of it tasted great - cod was white and flaky with crisp batter, and the chips were golden and not soggy. It was a real indulgent treat at lunchtime. The staff were polite and friendly too. Recommended!

Very personable service. Both Nick and the lady serving took the time to speak with us in a warm and friendly manner. Making our order fresh with only a few minutes before closing time. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely. Would recommend and encourage people to support this local independent business.

Nice little Fish and chip shop, friendly staff always treated with a smile and very quick to give the kids a lollipop as you walk through the door. Avoid 5 or get there early there's usually a massive queue.

Found many long hairs after taking a few bites and as I looked at the fish thoroughly I found many more long strands which made me feel sick and not wanting to eat anymore of it, very disappointed

Recent visits have proven to be a good experience. Quality of battery, fish, chips etc is very good. Portion size very large for the money, staff are friendly and up for a laugh and though they've always a long queue, service is prompt. Recommend you atleast give it a try

1st time here. This is part of a chain with other in West Favel shopping centre. Food it's ok at reasonable price. Coffee it's awful but again it's the same in the other store. I bought and could not drink it. I'm not sure what brand they use. But that put me off from other store and now this one. Food was ok as expected. Staff friendly couldn't fault it. Apart from someone brought a CV for a job while we there and then all the staff was looking at it... terrible GDPR. Has anyone been trained in GDPR... Would possibly return , but wouldn't rush...

Literally just left here and the chips are chewy and obviously not fresh. I can't even bite them they're so rubbery. What a waste of time and money! 2nd time I've been here and thought first time I just had an unlucky experience. The place looks sparkling clean but the food is substandard. I could have enjoyed oven cooked chips better than this recycled bag of rubbish!

I can't say enough nice things about this chippy. I've had most things off the menu and not a single one of them was bad. The staff, the food, literally everything about this place is amazing. The fact that there's almost a 40 minuet wait every Friday night tells you everything you need to know about this place!

First time trying this place and had high hopes due to its great reputation and constantly seeing how busy and popular it is! However, we ordered 2 kebabs and chips and the kebabs were awful. The chicken kebab is not seasoned, it’s a decent portion but the chicken doesn’t even have salt and pepper…I wouldn’t call it a kebab. I would say the chips were quite nice though!!!

What a great Chippy! In fact! I'd say the best chip shop in Northampton. Duston Village Chippy is highly recommend. We ordered the Scampi and Haddock and all the families plates were clean at the end of the meal. A sight that always makes me happy. Thank you Duston Village Chippy!

We ordered 4 meals from Midwest for our Family, there was something for everyone including children's portions and we were thoroughly impressed. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with high quality ingredients. What really stood out was the service, we were warmly welcomed with a friendly hello, which is becoming rare these days. The staff were courteous and attentive, and the food was cooked fresh to order. We waited less than 10 minutes which was just brilliant. A great experience all around, highly recommend Midwest for anyone looking for quality food and genuine customer service at a great price.

Well after going for donkey years! Tonight was the worst! I felt like I was given a child’s bun! Not worth the money anymore. More like burger van good! Such a shame wouldn’t be returning.

Having only recently visited Midwest after walking past for several years I regret having not gone in sooner. Not only are you spoilt for choice but the food is amazing, the portions are generous & the prices are a good deal for what you get. The service is lovely! Ignore lesser star reviews, they know nothing. Highly recommended!

For a small, friendly local institution, this is by far my favourite place to come. The staff are always welcoming even when I've come in 10 minutes before close. They have such a history in Northampton that can be seen displayed proudly on their walls and long may it remain so. Highly recommended

Ordered in the shop, fish cooked fresh to order. Good crisp batter, dry not swimming in fat! Tender juicy flaky fish. Chips perfect. This is the closest we have found to 'seaside fish & chips' without being by the sea! Marked down 1 star because delivery is hit and miss. One time it arrived perfect, another was cold, soggy and tasteless hut we put that down to the food 'sweating' in polystyrene tubs in a food warming bag. I can't see a solution to this other than to order and collect in person. Any time we fancy fish and chips we will always collect. Looking forward to the first fry of new potatoes, yummy 😋.

Loved the themed decor of this place. Despite being in the heart of Northamptonshire, you feel like you're by the sea. You can tell by the look and great taste that the chips are proper chips. I couldn't tell if they were hand-cut or not! Great to see the option of eating in as well as taking away, and though the place is small inside, the staff allowed my friend to use their bathroom before a long drive back to London. Very friendly service all round, and fantastic food! Would definitely recommend a visit if you find yourself in Corby!

Weekly delivery takeaway from The Old Village Fish and Chip shop. Food is easily the best locally, especially the fish and curry sauce is next level. I wouldn’t use any other chippy now. Everything is always freshly cooked. Even better now that they offer a delivery service. Staff are always very polite and friendly.

Tried over 12 fish & chip shops across Northamptonshire on a recent little adventure. This was the first one we tried and it was delicious and became the benchmark. No other came close. Nice, clean premises and lovely food. Try the deep fried Mars Bar, they're surprisingly lovely.

I've heard nothing but good things about The Old Village Fish and Chip Shop. So good in fact that I needed to try it myself. I'm pleased to say that it has lived up to its reputation. Very clean shop with seating. A nice selection of drinks in the cooler to help quench your thirst. The real gem is the food. I had a scampi and a small chips fully expecting to get the usual pale, minced shrimp in a doughy batter. WRONG! Huge whole tail scampi fried to a crispy brown perfection. The chips though a small portion were generous and plenty for one person. My husband had the large plain sausage and said it was tasty without being too greasy. I have to say I'm worried about my weight. The ease of parking and running in for a quick supper is going to be tempting me!

What a stroke of good fortune coming across this place again, after a couple of years thinking it had closed down forever... I really fancied some good, tasty fish and chips, without the grease. Well, I came to the right place! Succulent cod with a light crispy batter... and dry chips, lovely and firm on the outside, and melt in your mouth once you bit into them. And Jamie, the owner, has a great ethos of serving up the best tasting and healthiest food he can. Everything is cooked to order, so it's as fresh as possible and stays hot to eat when you get home. This works for me...! Don't know how long I'll be able to last out before I have to return for a mouth watering mixed doner kebab!!

Great find just off the M1 - fabulous fish and chips - lovely people and service and a good pint. Easy parking in pretty village, not quite your traditional country pub but still had charm and we would absolutely go back again for the Fish & Chips which really were outstanding.

Really lovely pub that is connected to a fish and chips shop! We had their fish and chips and they were the best we have ever eaten - honestly delicious and worth checking out. Also nice to be able to sit down in a pub and have them served fresh, alongside a pint! The only thing I would say is that the pub is looking very tired and could definitely do with a refresh!

Beautiful food and a very comfortable pub in which to eat it. The Haggis was lovely, and whilst I worried that the deep fried chocolate would be too sickly to finish as a dessert, I was pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't.

Terrible do not place an online order as you don’t get what your order is described as online. We placed a large order for 1/4 beef burgers with bun and lettuce. We received plain buns with a dry beef burger inside. When I raised the complaint I was told that they decide if they put garnish on yet the site says to place a note on the order if you want plain burgers. The notes section was left blank as I did want what was described in the description. Basically told they are right to make the assumption of what I wanted rather than what I actually ordered. Our meal cost over £60 and it is daylight robbery to charge that and not send what was ordered. Avoid!! And I raised a complaint immediately with Uber eats!! I was not offered a replacement as the owner is saying I was. I was told if I order again to ring and she will offer a discount. I refused as I won’t be going there again. And as for the catch 22 comment the description should be changed online to state you only get a bun and the burger. It may just be lettuce to you but when’s it’s detailed on your order you do expect to get it! And I have not slandered your small business I have merely left an honest review. And one which it appears to be very common with a lot of us old customers who were loyal to Michaels for many years. Their food was amazing and never once had to complain. That in itself speaks volumes when there are posts on social media by other customers who too have had a very bad experience with the new owners.

I haven’t been to Michael’s Golden Chippie since before the pandemic. But I grew up in Daventry, and my family visited this chip shop since I was a child. I was in the neighbourhood yesterday and it was great to see they are still open and trading post pandemic. I enjoyed a battered jumbo sausage, and devoured a 1/2lb burger and chips. The battered sausage was fresh, juicy but not too watery, and the batter was evenly coating the sausage and evenly cooked. The chips were fluffy and they have always had the beautiful consistency of almost melting in your mouth. Michaels always have had the best chips I have ever tried…. And I’ve tried a lot. The burger was amazing and brought back memories. What I’ve always loved about the burgers at Michael’s, is the feeling that mum could have made it with love for you. And that is what is great about this place. The mum and dad who ran this chippie may have retired, but their sons are there, continuing the tradition. This business has a love of the food they produce, they care about their customers, and are proud of their community. It truly is a hub and when I went in yesterday, even after 5-years nearly, it was great to be recognised and welcomed HOME.

We ordered a saveloy and chips and a chicken kebab and chips, all fresh and really yummy and hot. Customer service was good and the portion was great. Only thing I would add to make it 5* is if the person cooking wearing a hat/hair/beard net as I was a bit concerned I would find a beard hair in my food(I didn't!)

We recently ordered here for the first, it was really late and they were getting ready to close (we didn't know) they were polite on the phone and accepted the order, the food arrived within the time frame stated, it was hot, fresh and tasty. The price was on the higher side for chip shops but it was worth it. Chips 10/10 Chicken kebab 9/10 Donna kebab 10/10 Will be ordering again 😊

I have been coming here for the last few months all i can say is the fish and chips is amazing crispy on the outside and juicy and soft on the inside, not dry like some of the shops. Ive also tried the chicken kebab and the taste is 10/10. Great food service and the new owners are so welcoming and friendly and really take time to make you feel welcome! I recently visited Oakley Fish Bar, hoping for a relaxing evening and some delicious food. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfying, despite the food being decent. 1. Atmosphere and Location The location is promising, and the decor could create a pleasant atmosphere. However, the experience was overshadowed by poor organization and an unprofessional attitude from the staff. 2. Service The most disappointing aspect of my visit was the lack of a functioning card reader. I was informed that it "never works in the evening," which I found not only unprofessional but outright embarrassing for a modern restaurant. I was sent to withdraw cash from an ATM, which put me in an extremely uncomfortable situation, especially when relying on a credit card that cannot be used to withdraw cash easily. When I expressed my frustration to the staff about this inconvenience, they responded by laughing and dismissing my concerns. This kind of disrespect towards customers is simply unacceptable. 3. Menu and Food Ironically, the food was the only redeeming factor. The dishes were well-prepared, and the flavors exceeded expectations. However, the quality of the food cannot make up for the overall poorly managed experience. 4. Conclusion While the food was good, I strongly advise against visiting Oakley Fish Bar until they improve their services and customer interactions. It’s unacceptable for a restaurant to lack modern payment solutions and expect customers to go out of their way to pay, especially with such an unprofessional and dismissive attitude from the staff. Proper training on customer service is urgently needed to avoid placing customers in such awkward situations. Overall Rating: 1.5/5 The food might be decent, but the entire experience was ruined by poor service and staff behavior. Not recommended.

Food is usually good, however, if you go at around 20:30 you'll be treated poorly by staff that are too keen to get home. "you'll have to have a small" when I've asked for a medium chips isn't how I expect to be treated, the customer behind me knew that as he walked out saying I could have his. Got home and because they're in such a rush to finish, gravy lid wasn't even put on properly so it's leaked everywhere burning my partner. Dished up the remnants of the oil soaked chips and I'm expected to eat what I wouldn't give to a dog. If my custom is such a hindrance, then I'll go elsewhere to spend my money, it's as simple as that.

I had a wonderful experience at The Ladz . The grilled food was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, flavorful. Got recommended by a friend went there spent £30 and when I went to my car I realised we haven’t got prawn crackers went in to ask and they charged me £3 for it either tho every single Chinese will throw a bag in when you spend over certain amounts, food wasn’t that nice and the person was so rude will never go there again and would never recommend it to anyone

We always enjoy our food from here and having been a long term customer I'm always greeted with a smile and sometimes a chat if it's quiet. This is a great local business, exactly what a local place should be. Sadly, prices have shot up as a result of Brexit which they feel terrible about and often apologise.

The pizza has gone downhill….we were questioning what the meat was. And doesn’t help how rude the owner was. Shame, we used to enjoy this place. Won’t be going there again. Im going to edit this due to the response because I didn’t want to go to detail. We had a menu which didn’t match the price I was quoted but I still ordered from there and the lady on the phone requested to see the menu. When I arrived, I showed the menu and there was a discussion about how that might not align or outdate. I still paid for the pizza - never said I wanted it for cheaper. Out of no where, a gentleman started getting involved (I assume the owner) and started getting rude and saying prices change, I can go and get you out of date menus. I already paid cost. As I walk out, he said “don’t order from here if you’re not happy” again, after I paid for the pizza. And yes, the meat was questionable and was like cubes of jelly. Don’t be rude to customers for no reason!

Always get our fish & chips from here as they are the best. But today when I got ours, I was told the large fishes they had was for an order and mine would be 10 mins. However when I returned, he must have given me one of the already fried fishes and not the newly cooked one, as it was soo dry. Really disappointed.

Just had a mixed meat and chips in a tray and it was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!!!! Not sure what they done with the chicken meat but it wasn't cooked on the grill thing, is was soft soggy/stodgy (it was 15 mins before the close) I'm pretty sure they must have ran out so just cut some up and microwaved it!!!!! I would have rather they just said they had none left kebab meat was cold and also tasted like it had been boiled rather than grilled. I would have rather chucked my money out the window!!!!!! I will never set foot in this place again, any decent chip shop would never have served that to a customer and as I did eat some of it if I'm sick later or tomorrow I will update this review.

Simply the Best Chippy in Daventry!** We've been loyal customers for many years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Recently, we had the pleasure of having their team cater our wedding, and they truly delivered. Serving 100 guests, they were organised and efficient. The food arrived hot, boxed with individual and table numbers, making it easy to serve. The price was as reasonable as always, offering great value. Ordered a bacon and sausage sandwich. £4.95. Quite possibly the worst sandwich I've ever had! One sausage was dried out completely as it had been reheated so much. Bacon not sure if there was even two slices. Again, dried up and reheated garbage! Awful!

Nice coffee, friendly welcoming service, delicious food, very reasonable prices for the high quality you get, day in day out: these guys are brilliant! I've also used them twice to cater for family occasions (both very different) and they totally delivered in terms of understanding and fulfilling requirements, range of products, quality and presentation. This is a gem of a sandwich shop!! If you want a really good, homemade, fresh, filling lunch then Verdes is absolutely worth a stop. Plenty of parking in front of shop, accessed via main car park in long buckby village centre. Always a really good selection of breads and fresh fillings and it's always worth checking the special on the day.... They are normally delicious. Well priced, good value, run by friendly locals... Can't beat it!

Used to go here to buy breakfast/sandwiches/cakes but came today and sat outside on the chairs, waited for my sister while she was going to the pharmacy and wanted to order coffees when she was ready but she told me I couldn’t sit there even though she was no longer than 5 minutes. Won’t go here anymore - unfriendly

I dont even know where to start, I ordered chicken breast and received chicken wings what was to salty and trust me, i love my food salty, but this was just way to salty!There wasn’t enough sauce to go with it either, only a little bit on top. They tried to fill me up with the chips that came from the freezer, probably purchased from ice land. I left the restaurant (if we can call it that)hungry as the 6 small chicken wings and chips was no where near enough for me. If you do dare to go here, make sure you take some drawings and pictures of the food you want to eat so they can understand you. Also, take a bottle of sauce with you!

Quality kebabs, friendly service, will definitely visit again. I highly recommend the Istanbul special

The overall quality of food yh it's good But you get the occasional overcooked lamb being tough, chicken however was great but a bit over cooked Rice was under seasoned but that isn't why you go there You can see the griddle they use too cook the meat and has dedicated extraction system The interior is fairly nicely done up with both take away and sit in

Just got a takeaway delivered,these guys are usually brilliant, unfortunately tonight not so great,our food was late and on the cold side of edible.not very happy.

Positives- clean inside, open kitchen, manager nice guy from Afghanistan. Negatives- kebab in pitta had no taste, sauces had no taste, pitta was right at bottom and wasn't open pointless being in it. I had it because was hungry but wasn't impressed. Also I was only one in there and i had to wait 10+ mins for kebab in pitta! Hate to think wait times if there was 4-5 waiting. I wish the manager all the best.This is just constructive criticism my friend.

Yet another place that selectively ignores the customer, not even an acknowledgement that you're there, just indifference. I stood at the counter for a few minutes waiting to be served while the girl continued to play on her mobile phone and the guy carried on with some general prep. That's their attitude - I just walked out and went somewhere credible instead.

Hi thanks for reply seems I can't reply I don't understand why you are puzzled. The service was poor Specifically the lady who served me. The chips were not up to your usual size. I paid no attention to portion size until I left the shop. When I thought it felt light. I'm not going to bring back a portion of chips for money back. I leave reviews as I find establishments based on service and food. I'm sorry this perplexes you. omg NEVER AGAIN .... I just purchased a family size CHIP portion it tiny ,shame on you £5 pounds my chip. bottom. Will not be back Also poor service from tall Rotund woman.😒😒😒

Best chippy in town always fresh always tasty and reasonably priced. Staff are always welcoming and friendly.

What can I say apart from its the absolute BEST Fish and Chip shop EVER !!!!! I have been buying Fish and chips from here for over 20 years and the quality and service is always outstanding. The Fish are so so good, I actually live in Edinburgh and have tried Fish from all over Scotland, but this chippy beats them all hands down !!

1st time in China red tonight so thought I would just order chicken curry egg Fried rice and salt and chilli wings The guy took my order was lovely I’m a drive away but food still hot when I got home absolutely loved it

Usually good quality but tonight my sweet and sour prawn balls were super greasy , almost as if they were refried to warm them up. The smoked shredded chicken was dried out and stringy. Very disappointing and when I called the restaurant, the staff were not helpful .
