Great nightclub but one female bouncer completely ruins the experience. She is so unnecessarily rude and confrontational. Always looks miserable and clearly doesn’t want to be there. We understand bouncers are there for security and not there to be welcoming and friendly but she shouldn’t be the one scanning people’s tickets. She is going out of her way to cause problems and ruin people’s nights. Real vibe killer!! She should be behind the scenes. We have experienced her several times now and it has put me off returning to this club. I asked for her name to make a complaint but unsurprisingly wasn’t given it.

Terrible experience at this club. Staff were shockingly rude, especially someone named Eves—completely unprofessional and dismissive from the start. I’ve never felt so unwelcome in a venue. Save your money and your night—go literally anywhere else.

Hello all, Was my first night in exeter and most likely my last night due to the appalling behaviour of the staff at time piece. I was kicked out last night for allegedly being too drunk, granted i may have been at the time anyways, i was in a city i didnt know my friends were still inside and i tried to tell the bouncer this and his response was dont care and was very aggressive towards me. Anyways after about 30 mins of roaming the streets of Exeter I sobered up pretty quick. And a really kind lady helped me out she bought me back to the club to find my friends who were still inside because i had no one else. Anyways someone let me back in to find my friends i was looking around and the same bouncer met me with the same hostility, i tried to explain im just trying to find my friends he says im banned for life and says he doesnt care about my situation and practically throws me out. I am not an aggressive person even when i am drunk i normally just get really sleepy if ive had to much, but the hostility and rudeness from this man was unacceptable i understand he has a job to do but realistically last night i could have been killed on the streets of exeter if it wasn't for the kindness of strangers. Furthermore i tried to explain the situation to the woman at the door she was a larger woman with her hair in a pony tail and she met me with the same hostility and wouldnt even help me when i asked if there was somewhere i could wait until my friends came out! Was one of the least welcoming places i have ever been and i would never recommend this place due to the unkindly behaviour of the staff, i would severely reassess the people you hire because the treatment last night was appalling. Granted bar staff was lovely but door and bouncers i understand there job but they need to remember we are people

Door staff are rude and unfriendly. They seem to enjoy making it difficult for you to get into an empty club and are very confrontational.

Staff so cruel especially Eves (small blonde manager) / very rude and wouldn’t listen to anything - so egotistical and set in her ways she lost a lot of money not serving us for absolutely no reason. Awful service absolutely ANY club is better

Absolutely great for a dance if relative genres suit..... And there are a lot of great name DJ's who mix there and different kinds of events, including day parties, places to park and a carpark nearby. Enjoy!

Brian and the team at Move hosted our Final Monastery event "The Sunday Service 2024" Brian goes above and beyond helping promoters get the best for their night. The Sound system Is Funktion-One and the venue is of a proper underground feel. Every member of staff is happy and always on hand to help. The door staff are vigilant but not rude and pushy like a lot of venues which helps massively with the overall vibe of punters through the door, all while keeping them safe. We hired both Move and Bomba and had the terrace open as well and everyone who came to the event loved both venues equally and had an awesome night. can not recommend enough.....Support your venues and they will support you. Went to a Ned by Ten experience. The actual building is abit grim but the DJ was awesome

The DJ was great that night, very good indeed. However, when my friend got caught smoking we got kicked out which is fine. we understand we broke the rule. We were cooperating and just headed to the exit in peace but the bouncer was violent and repeatedly shoved/ pushed on the way out. Very aggressive and use unnecessary force. Also asked some other bouncers entry questions on the way in earlier that night. They are particularly friendly either. But the bartenders here are nice. saw some other reviews here regarding rude bouncers 3 years ago. Guess its still the same. What a shame

Best club in Exeter, have had some of my best nights here and will recommend anyone to come here. Got the biggest DnB lineups in Devon as per.

Move is by far my favourite venue in Exeter, with great staff and an amazing atmosphere. I've been a regular at Move for over 3 years now, and I think ill be going back for many years to come. Nowhere else has such an intimate atmosphere, paired with top quality sound which has lead to some of the most memorable nights out of my life! Bierkeller upstairs is also an amazing place to hang out with friends by the quay for some steins, or a great place to chill out when open as the top floor of some of the bigger club nights. The staff are always friendly and open to ideas for improving the experience. 10/10 club A****

Nice place with good atmosphere and great choice of music, but someone forgot to pay anybody to setup the dance floor and speakers.. after a while someone came and fiddled with some knobs but was not sounding great.. too loud, not enough definition

I visited the Cavern club on the 10th of June To see Haytor, The Cabins, 3days of wonder. I was impressed with how young and professional and so accomplished these musicians were. The organisation of all the bands coming on and off the stage was brilliant. We had an amazing night out.

A wee underground underground for folks left of senga. Late night debauchery, live music and dancing in the dark. Support it now before it becomes another late night soul&less vodka bar. I saw the Wattingers live before dancing to some gothic nonsense.

Quirky little underground venue. Went to watch the incredible Samantics at his sold out event. Capacity for over 200 people. Dance floor area separate to the bar.

Best live venue in Devon,hands down! Always a great atmosphere and always a great mix of people.

Wasn’t a bad time and was very empty but we did go on a Tuesday so that isn’t their fault. Although the DJ being so rude was their fault. We were the only people in there and he refused to play our music after we requested it on the app. I went over and asked why he wasn’t playing it and started shouting saying it was too slow and the previous songs we requested were also too slow and not good. We were the only people in there like at least satisfy your only customers.

Gloomy, dark, claustrophobic atmosphere, not much lighting. Everything seems to be painted black, female toilets are gross, again no lighting in there, so forget trying to touch up your make up in the one large mirror in there, which is so grimy can't see yourself anyway (Just like the Cavern club round the corner) Sat night music was boring same old same 90's early 00's remixed chart songs. Mostly youngish cis guys on the floor who beeline for you soon as you enter and won't leave you alone. Shame not an LGBTQ+ venue anymore. Heard horror stories bout the staff and bouncers, but I had no problems. Needs more lighting and defo better lit toilets!

Pros- DJ: good music, open till late (3/4AM) Cons- Long wait for the drinks atleast 15-20mins, securities and people working there are RACIST max, be ready to face it if you visit especially if you are from Asia or Muslim countries. They are always partial+ towards natives. Similar instances were posted on the University of EXETER social pages years back, they made an apology post but sadly still the management nor their ethics changed.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Absolutely horrendous experience several weeks back. I had just ordered a drink and 2 security guards came up behind me and said I need to leave without explaining why. One grabbed my arm (not hard but it was completely unnecessary). They escorted me upstairs of which they then told me I was pushing through the crowd 'aggressively'. This was an absolute lie. It was packed that night so yes it was a struggle to get through the crowd, but no way was I doing that. I then spoke to the manager who was outside and suddenly the story changed to I was 'being hostile to bar staff'. Another daft lie, I absolutely love the bar staff in vaults and I am always polite to them. On top of this, I was not able to get my jacket out of the cloakroom straight away as they would not let me get it, and they would not give my money back for the drink I just bought. I hate to say it, but being mixed race, it is not the first time that I have been mistaken for another mixed race girl here and accused of something. Albeit that time there was an apology for the mistake, but this time(I believe this must of been what was happening again) I was left in pure disbelief in how I was treated and I will not be visiting again.

NOT A GAY BAR. If you’re a lovely queer looking for an inclusive space to boogie in Exeter, this is not the place for you. Vaults used to be full of people across the LGBTQ+ spectrum but is now overrun by students and stag dos. Far from what a gay club should be.

If I could give a 0, i would. All the security were extremely rude. They tried to chat with my friend she rejected him (cus he wasn't her type AKA was NOT cute) and they kicked us out. Just because of That???. These people are strange/incells. Came all the way from Milano, will never come back.

I had a very disappointing experience at this venue. Without any clear reason, I was asked to leave, and it seemed to stem from a complete misunderstanding. The way the staff handled the situation was unprofessional and upsetting. No effort was made to clarify or resolve the issue. Sadly, I can’t recommend this place to others based on how I was treated.

Surprisingly good food given exterior appearance. Also exceedingly friendly and proactive staff who use their brains, unlike many others. You would be amazed! Simple fare bit recommended highly. Also a great selection of beers to boot!

My friends and I enjoyed our visit to this pub. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and let us sample a few ales so we could decide what we liked to order ( my personal favorite was Otter ale). The food choices were pretty solid, and i quite enjoyed their duck leg confit, which was very delicious. I can definitely recommend this historic pub. Apparently, Sir Francis Drake liked it too.

You get a complete pub vibe here. I was their on a Sunday so I had Veg Roast, Nut Wellington. Few months ago I went there for karaoke on a Friday night and yes I would reccomend going there it's lovely. Same goes for the roast it was really good.

The Ship Inn is a beautiful and very old pub in Exeter; the pub's atmosphere and exposed centuries-old wooden beams make dining here a really unique experience; however the portion sizes are on the small size compared to other pubs.

We were in Exeter to have a walk and have a look to same shops around middle October. I were with my partner and his parents. It was two o'clock on a Saturday, when we arrived we ordered our food and we waited patiently for 1 hour. We been offer free drinks due the long waiting but we had already our food at the time of the gentle offer. I have to say the food was well presented and cook at perfection. (check pictures) All of us enjoyed our food. I've never had a better piece of duck, the same was for the pie of my mother in law, the steak of my father in law and the chilly without carne " vegetarian option" of my partner. I am so pleased for such delicious food but I definitely will looking to the clock next time we get to eat in that pub, I do appreciated that it was a busy time but I saw a couple arrived later then us been served before us. However the place it is a lovely, cosy and traditional English pub very close to the Cathedral of Exeter, hiding away in a little allay. There are plenty of space and room to eat. I raccomend if are a lover of food like me but take a book with you it may help you to kill the time of waiting!! 😉

Well kept cask ales here, and I had a excellent, served pink Sunday Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, delicious. FAB

Absolutely loved our experience here! The Sunday Roast Beef and the Crispy Belly Pork were truly outstanding — full of flavor, tender, and perfectly cooked. Every bite was a delight! Just a little note: the Sunday roast is available only on Saturdays and Sundays, so make sure to plan your visit accordingly. The cozy little restaurant has such a warm and welcoming vibe, made even better by the lovely and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. No wonder the place fills up so quickly! Highly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot. Definitely a place we'd love to return to again and again.

Tens all round! Despite the signage suggesting something different about The Fat Pig, the entrance is through a bright yellow door straight off the street and suddenly you are immersed in an excitable, bubbly atmosphere in the main bar area. I can get loud, but isn't this a familiar trait of the best pubs. Beyond the bar area, there's a newer section with more tables for dining/drinking. There's even a beer shelf outside on the narrow link to Fore Street. The food's good too. Parking adjacent in a Ringo carpark. Definitely recommend. We went on a Friday night - it's open on other nights too!!

This pub is one the finest we've been to. It absolutely deserves the reputation it has. The food,the beer,the atmosphere are all just spot on. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. More pubs should be like this. Forget the Chains and seek out this pub!!

I always think it's a good sign if a place has a small menu. The Fat Pig has 4-5 main dishes, which they do extremely well. I've heard a lot of compliments about the pub over the past 4 years and have been meaning to check it out for a while. Despite the word-of-mouth buzz, it still exceeded my expectations. The front bar was snug and busy, full of life. The restaurant area at the back had a lovely atmosphere, and I was tempted by much of the menu. The focaccia starter tasted like a mild American cornbread and had a hint of cumin. It was a welcome variation, and a good portion size for two. I enjoyed the crispy beef, but the star of the show for me was the gorgonzola tagliatelle. The balsamic glaze was the perfect touch, absolutely beautiful. While the dishes were a touch on the expensive side, I thought they were worth it. I would recommend this place highly.

Fantastic food and excellent experience at the fat pig. Couldn’t meet nicer people. We had the pork and it was brilliant. Can not recommend highly enough. You’ll need to call or text to book, and do so early as it books up fast!

Visited today for the 1st time. Gorgeous pub with super friendly landlord and staff. Sunday roast was beautiful, huge compliments to the chef. Beef was perfectly pink, roasties crispy, Yorkshire's homemade and fresh veg NOT overcooked and soggy ❤️ Can't wait to return and sample the rum selection!!

This really is the perfect pub for a pint and chat early doors on a Saturday lunchtime. Restored to a high standard and serving a fine selection of cask ales locally brewed in Exeter. A well deserved entry to the Good Beer Guide.

Absolutely fantastic pub! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Hour Glass in Exeter is a real gem — full of character, charm, and warmth. The food is outstanding, freshly made and full of flavour, with a great mix of classic and creative dishes. I highly recommend the mussels. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cosy yet lively — perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or a date night. A true local favourite that always delivers on quality, service, and vibe. Highly recommended!

A disappointment. We were made to feel like we had to rush through our meal. 2 of us got there 15 minutes early and sat down. Twice we were asked if our friend was running late or if she was arriving at all. She turned up at the exact time the table was booked for. We were rushed to make our order. Food came out, it was fine, a bit soggy as if it had been sat out for a while, but it was fine. Then we were pressed to pay and leave. We were only there for 30 minutes and throughout our time there we were made to feel like we had to get through the meal as quickly as possible. Twice we were told by staff that they were expecting a rush of customers in the next 30 minutes and needed the table. The room was empty, no rush of customers. Still felt like we had to finish up quick, pay and leave. Will not be coming back.

Lovely food, booked for daughter's birthday today, we had vegan roast, beef roast dinner and fish and chips , all cleaned our plates! Gravy delicious 🤤🤤 the even cooked my beef more for me! Friendly service, couldn't do enough to make us comfortable! Thank you! Xx ❤️

came in for a birthday meal for my dad and this place does not disappoint. the food was excellent, my dad had the scampi starter and I had the scotched egg both cooked to perfection the yoke of the egg was just off running all over but Was perfectly gooey. we also both had the sausage and mash for our main and their spiced rum was Devine I Was supposed to inquire about the brand but I had forgot. my only regret was my stomach wasn't big enough to finish my portion. would have licked the bowl clean if I could!

We had an excellent meal here. The Pork Schnitzel was unexpectedly huge and really delicious. The service was nice, and the pub itself is a really nice old pub. Have previously been for a roast which was also really nice.

Quite bizarre !! We have been searching Exeter for iconic unusual pubs with character and something different. This really cute little pub fits all the criteria. It is so hidden away in a back street above the river Exe and in all our years of strolling around Exeter we didn't know it existed. So quaint, steeped in history and it has a real fire. Nice real ales and friendly bar staff and......although we haven't tried it.....there is a restaurant too . But we will be back to sample the menu which looks absolutely scrumptious....and in a good way.....different and varied....

I had an incredible experience clubbing at this venue, which has a modern feel and varied shades of lights! The flashing lights and smoke bring out the electricity, as do the poppers falling down from the ceiling. Music was full of classic dance and pop tunes, Desperados drink helped improve the night and staff were understandable at re-entering after going outside for a moment!

I was queuing with my friends even though I told one of them I didn't have enough money to get in the club, so I managed to convince them that I was going to have to go home. As I politely asked the bouncer to leave through the barrier, he swore at me for no reason. Even though I was being convinced by one of my friends who's day early birthday I was celebrating with him and the rest of us that he would have got me into the club because I only had £5 on me, in hindsight it was nice of them. Otherwise there was no need for the bouncer to swear at me.

I came here with my dad & father-in-law for a beer brewing experience day with the master brewer Tilly. The whole day was absolutely amazing, a personalised hands on experience brewing the Dickies Best bitter from start to finish. Tilly was an amazing host, very patient with us and explained everything clearly, answered all of our questions and the whole day was great fun. We had coffees through the morning & flites of various beers in the afternoon plus an amazing lunch (I had an awesome burger and chips). I had already visited the pub several times before and it's a fantastic place. The building itself is very quirky, they have loads of their own beers on tap and great food. They also have plenty of TV screens showing various sports. I would highly recommend coming to this pub and if you're up for something different then definitely try the brewing experience day with Tilly.

I would honestly give it 10 stars for the service and atmosphere, if I could. This pub has become my absolute Number 1 whenever I visit Exeter. Great selection of drinks, their beers made in house are AMAZING. The staff is friendly, helpful, and generally: there's just real good lively pub vibes. Their Vegan Sunday roast is delicious with homemade Wellington: flavours and textures are spot on. Ps. Message for the ladies: the toilets are clean and tidy, and they supply a nice hand lotion.... that's always a nice touch.

Their beers are good. Handsome place. Fish and chips were decent with 5 sauces.

Luke pointed me in the direction of crystal maze their in house brewed lager which hit the spot for sure. A lovely venue nestled in the heart of the city, an amazing selection of drinks with a load that are made on site! Staff have amazing knowledge of products and were able to steer me away from my regular drink onto a particularly lovely own brewed lager called crystal maze.

Got the last space - in a corner. At least it was free after 18:00!

Exeter is a money grabbing dump , all carparks over priced , i will be glad when all shops shut because of internet shopping , then we wont need the over priced council car parks .

Good location. 6 pounds all day. Only accepts new pound coins. Can pay by phone or paybyphone app which is easy and good.

A great place to park the car easy access to the college and you can walk into town easily enough.. Only problem is that it's a small car park..

Food could have been better, lacked taste however it could have been due to what we ordered. Staff were kind and attentive and the atmosphere was really cute and suitable for celebrations and date night. Decent spot to go for food in exeter and good location.

Came here for mothers day lunch- the food was incredible and the waiter was lovely and attentive. We also got given free Prosecco which sadly only my mum could drink as I’ve recently quit drinking, but it was a really nice touch and super generous! I loved how the restaurant was decorated. There was also a super talented live duo, who sang a lot of songs that I know, so that was really enjoyable. Overall, perfect experience, I had a lot of fun- thankyou so much!

Great music, very good atmosphere. It was a lovely evening thank you. Update - 16 July 2023 Fantastic table service, free olives and nuts due to delay on food delivery. Staff were super attentive and apologetic for lack of usual food standards. They also discounted the bill due to the wait and some cold food. We had a free bottle of prosecco and the staff member took great care of us and was constantly liaising with the kitchen. My food was lovely as I had a salad with goats cheese, delicious. The tea was lovely and it was served in lovely cream and brown teapots.

Can't believe it took me so long to finally try out this place. The food is amazing, cocktails even better, and the atmosphere is perfect. The actual terrace overlooked the cathedral and the guildhall shopping centre. The prices (while high) are fully justified, in my opinion. The only problem I had is that the waiting staff did not clean our table quickly enough. It kept clogging up with empty plates and glasses. Cannot wait to visit again!

Complete absence of service! We were celebrating our daughters graduation and were utterly disappointed.Firstly there were only two beers available on tap, so we had to order bottles. It took an hour for our drinks for a party of 6, an hour for our starters and another for our mains. During this time I had to find the waitress and ask for more drinks. They sat on the bar while she was talking to her friends, so we got our drinks off the tray on the bar ourselves. Our starters came and we were given a dirty plate! When we ordered our mains, I was told there were no fish and chips, then no green Thai curry which left a choice of pasta or a salad! I did NOT want a burger. I got a salad and the rest of our party ordered burgers. When the burgers arrived after chasing the order, the patties were all completely burned and hard as a rock. Definitely go somewhere else. Has a lively atmosphere and could be a great place! Staff were absolutely off with the fairies!🤬We refused to pay for our food, but paid for our drinks.

On a busy saturday afternoon this place is just what we needed away from the generic queued out chain restaurants all around Exeter! The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and the service just right, not too pushy but there when you require. Opted for the three course set menu @ £13.95 but all the other options were available abd sounded great too!

The location and setting is amazing, especially outdoors in the summer. There is a good selection of beers, ales, and cider. I’m not a fan of the plastic serving cups though I understand why they have to do it on very busy days. They also ran out of tea and I had bring tea pots back to be able to order one. Again, not the end of the world but the service experience wasn’t brilliant overall. Only tried the scotch egg but it was lovely!

We walked down the canal on a rather wet and windy Sunday. We saw kingfishers, swans and a heron. We had a roastwhich I would highly recommend. A good amount of beef, the tastiest potatoes and plenty of veg. We also finally tried the scotch eggs! They were divine! An amazingly relaxing and restful Sunday .

Had a nice oat milk Latte at Double Locks. Great views. Nice and friendly service. Quite a bit of litter around the pub and in the garden though. Big car park. Think they're having a big burn for November 5th judging by the pallet mountain in the garden!

Visited here for drinks after walking past this place on a visit to the area a couple of years ago. Was not disappointed. Friendly lady behind the bar who served our drinks and the price was reasonable in my opinion based on the location. Inside was cosy and there was a lot of choice on outdoor seating. Beer was great and the views around of the surrounding countryside and river added to the satisfaction of walking here from central Exeter. If I come to this area again, I will definitely call in here again. One final point is that I didn't have food here this time, but might do on a repeat visit.

Quite easily the best meal i have ever eaten in a restaurant! Just WOW! I don’t think i’ll ever book anywhere else ever again! No where comes close to these guys! Superb! Do they have a Michelin star? If not, someone give them one or two!! Thankyou for having us and we’ll look forward to returning again!

We loved the food especially the roast pork. I don’t usually eat roast pork but this one is a must try and the ribeye steak.

Been here twice and it's become my favourite restaurant in Exeter! First off, I have to say that the food here is really professional and the quality has been consistent so far. The bread board in the nibbles section was a good start to my meals. The sourdoughs was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip, seeds and butter. For starters I had the goat cheese pie and the chicken liver parfait with apple, both looked and tasted amazing. I had the parfait at The Ivy but I could clearly tell the one here was higher quality. Then came on to the mains, I had the steak and the duck breast. Both meats were cooked pink and tender, with thoughtful choices of sides and sauces. The meats were basically Michelin level. I had the dessert of the cheese board last time and they used a perfect combination of 4 cheeses sourced from Devon, with a generous helping of fruit, crackers and bread. As for the wine, there were a lot of choices and unfortunately I don't know my wines so I can't tell you what I had exactly but trust me, you're in good hands here. The only downside here is the lack of staff. When I first got here, it took the host quite a few minutes to notice me.

Rendezvous Wine Bar is a gorgeous little spot tucked away in the heart of Exeter. Beautifully decorated with a warm, cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff. The food is absolutely delicious, and even in winter, the large garden space out back is so charming — perfect for warmer months! Highly recommend if you're after a relaxed and lovely evening out.

Lovely little place for wine. I've been here before for a works Xmas Doo and it was great and wanted to show my partner how cute it was. We only sat at the bar for wine so can't comment on food, but it was lovely! Staff are great and the wine list was good too!

Came here for the first time for coffee. We ordered the matcha and 10 minutes later the staff came out to say they were out of it. Disappointing however we got to order another drink instead which was still yummy nonetheless. The seating outside is very nice and overall good location. Would come back again hopefully they are restocked next time!

Came in and tried to use the app on the table, which didn't work. Ordered at the bar. I ordered a white americano with cold milk and a sparkling water. When it came to four pound something I asked if they'd got the sparkling water on that, to which I got an eye roll and a "no". So, I asked for a sparkling water. When the white americano came with oat milk, we took it back to the bar and asked for skimmed, got another eye roll. Place is fine, bit noisy, but there are a lot of tables and people chatting as well as music playing so to be expected. There was no need for the attitude of the servers though. I should point out it was from males, the female server swapped the milk (that we didn't ask for in the first place) no problem. I don't usually leave negative reviews, I would rather just not review at all if I don't think a place is great, as I appreciate that sometimes places have a bad day and wouldn't want to tarnish a business with a low score for an off day. However, I really don't like rudeness, so maybe this place should just consider a little staff re-training.

Had the coconut frappe made and brought over to the table by Sophie. Very friendly, recommended the drink for me and was 100% perfect! Thanks Sophie and thanks Artigiano’s for making the lunch time catch up with the boys a great experience. Definitely recommend.

Staff were polite, but overall the place just felt lacking. One of our drinks was forgotten, and the smoothie I ordered tasted sour to the point I couldn’t finish it. They did warm up my cake when asked, which was nice of them, but it was still bland and stale. Not long after leaving I felt unwell and could still taste that sour drink. The tea was nicely made, though the portion was very small. For the high prices, the experience really wasn’t worth it, and we definitely won’t be returning.

We were basically ignored when we went in - was ages before the person behind the counter deigned to speak to us. When our coffees arrived the cups were sticky and the teaspoon didn’t look like it had been washed. Coffee itself was fine.

The place is right in the middle of city centre with optional outdoor sitting arrangements. The food was not very impressive but alright. Too much suger and cinnamon in the tea. As usual and like every other place, the suger should be provided separately rather than already put in. Over all it is a alright place.

Been here many times in my three year time at Exeter. Love the vibes here and really recommend people to come with friends!

First time coming to unit 1 for the last cheesy tuesdays of 2022 and had so much fun and the atmosphere was great. Gets busy very fast so recommended going in dead on opening. I certainly will be coming back soon 😁😁😁

I had a disheartening experience at Unit 1 Exeter on 21st Jan 2024. Despite all of us having valid tickets, we were denied entry because one of our group was judged to be too intoxicated. However, this policy seemed inconsistently applied, as we observed several other noticeably drunk individuals being allowed inside. This selective enforcement of rules, especially when we saw no such restrictions for others, felt unfair and discriminatory. It's disappointing to witness such inconsistency in policy application, which tainted our perception of the venue. I hope Unit takes this feedback seriously and works towards fair and consistent treatment of all patrons, regardless of their appearance or group dynamics.

AVOID!! I have been kicked, pushed and hurt in this club by the bouncers which horrible people and they had no right. I only went outside to say goodbye to my friend and they kicked me with their feet and punched me. They would not even let me get back inside to collect my jacket, card and passport. You could end up in A and E please avoid at all costs.

I went to this club in a super good mood and while I was dancing alone, a guy pulled my hair to annoy me. I came to him to ask him to stop, and eventually I got attacked by him and four of his friends for no reason.. The club took my report and some IDs from the group who attacked me. The group even waited for me outside to try to trap me and beat me up!! Those men were crazy and very dangerous. I did a crime report the next day and after 2-3 weeks of investigation (quite long to get the video and IDs of the attackers from the club…), the police said that they did not have enough evidence to continue their investigation! I believe the club did the minimum to help the police and preferred to protect their ‘regulars’. The attitude of those young guys was very shocking and they might kill some one one day. I would never go out again in Exeter after this terrible experience. I hope this won’t happen again to anyone, and I learnt the hard way that ignorance was the best option in this case… Take care and stop violence!

Just don't bother. The DJ had an attitude and no taste in music, it's not 2010 anymore. The staff were rude and obnoxious apart from one lady at the door who was absolutely lovely. Loved her. If you see this can I be your friend? Despite entering the building itself my only other regret was not choking on the smoke machine

I could NOT thank the bouncers enough when my knee was severely dislocated and collapsed to the ground. He popped my knee back into place! Was given an ice pack and was promptly sent to the hospital for treatment. Thank you so much!!

The host staff and security team were amazing and seated us in a better area when it was clear our group wouldn't fit in the original area they reserved for us! However, the DJ was rude and araogant and refused to play the only song we requested. Not good.

Me and my friend visited Exeter for a couple of days. My friend has a pepper allergy and unfortunately twice in a row something went wrong with her meals at our hotel. So on our last evening we decided to go elsewhere. That evening we stepped into ‘The Cosy club’ on 1 Southernhays gardens, hoping three times is indeed a charm. And boy was it! We booked a table for two online which was very easy to do. We were warmly welcomed by Jack, he let us know he read about our allergies and was going to make sure everything went right. Well he sure did! Due to his diligence (and that of the head chef who also went above and beyond) we finally experienced a lovely scrumptious meal without the worry of needing medical assistance :-) He really made our last evening in Exeter an exceptional one. So if you are in Exeter and want a fantastic evening with a lovely meal in a charming atmosphere with friendly staff who understand their profession, please visit ‘The Cosy Club’ in Exeter. Cosy Club, Exeter. Once a hospital, now a restaurant, which is a bit like turning your old school into a cocktail bar. You sit there with a burger and chips where somebody once had their appendix out. The ceilings are high enough to lose a kite in, and every inch of the place is covered in furniture that looks like it was donated by aunts you don’t like. It’s a curated mess, but it sort of works. The staff are absurdly good. Smiling, attentive, as if they’ve mistaken you for someone important. They’ll even let your dog into the lounge, which is a surprise. You look around, half expecting someone to say “No dogs, no smoking, no fun” but instead they bring you water for the mutt and act like it’s the most natural thing in the world. The food is solid in that chain-restaurant way. I went for a burger on our visit. The burger is rib meat, which means flavour, fat, and an excuse for charging you more. They suggest adding Brie and bacon, which isn’t advice so much as an invoice. The fries arrive in a tin that looks generous until you poke around and realise it’s half-air. But the burger stays together, tastes decent, and doesn’t drown you in condiments. But. The meat’s from Cornwall, which is nice, but we’re in Devon. Cows here also have ribs. And the price is the sort of number that makes you start thinking about whether you should have cooked pasta at home. However, you sit there, full of meat and fries, the dog snoring under the table, and you think — this isn’t bad. It’s not great, it won’t change your life, but it’s not bad. Food delivered in a jumble-sale cathedral that used to hand out death certificates. Perfectly fine.

I really liked cosy club, food was amazing I had a three course graduation meal, from starter till dessert I didn't choose as I asked my server to choose for me. It was lovely and I'd reccomend that place again. The only thing I thought could be better was a Lil more conversation with my server, she did her job well but she could have done something to make me feel more welcomed. Nonetheless I'll go there again because it's lovely.

OMG the food was so good. I had the prawn starter and it was so good - I didn't know if it would be worth the money but it was actually the perfect amount ready for the main which was also delicious. Oooh and the truffle and parmesan fries perfecccttt. The GF options were nicely varied and labeled well, the server even brought the plates out separately so he didn't accidentally contaminate them. The staff were all smiley and lovely and the decor was a really cool little vibe. A really cute little gem. Also everything was nice and clean - I know it sounds weird but if even the toilets are really up to date with cleanliness you can rely on the rest being well looked after to right?

Went here with other and asked for their thoughts on food as well. When we got to the restaurant there is a sign asking you to wait to be seated. We waited in clear sight of the bar and no one came for a number of minutes. When someone did come they made no attempt to engage with us or even so hello. Had to go to them. The staff at the tables seem to the forget us for the food order. When we we asked to order they did apologies. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the number of empty tables and lack of vibrancy came over strongly. By the time we left at about 9pm there was hardly another sole. Food was fine but nothing special. Had a smash burger. It was fine but not special. With onion rings over £20. I went for the salad with it which was £4.50 separately and about three mouth fulls. None of the people who had chips finished them because the were not good. Another person had sea bass and described it as fine only. Another annoyance of mine is putting a service charge on the bill as standard considering we were a table of only 5. Considering the basic costs were on the higher side for only adequate food it suggests the owners are in it for profit first and quality second.

Vibrant atmosphere with a full menu at moderate price. Close to the central Premier Inn and with a full bar and seating area. Good attention to dietary requirements though there could be more vegan options. The chestnut mushroom main was good though quite a lot of sauce.

Wasn't very cosy as the name might suggest - the design of the place fulfilled the cosy vibes but the fact it was cold didn't. Considering it wasn't very busy I felt the staff where quite slow in taking our orders be it for drinks or food. The food itself was decent but anyone ordering the butchers brunch would be saddened to find out the pork chop was a pork slither 😅. Also a vegetarian in our group ordered the American pancakes without the bacon and said they tasted like bacon as if the chefs had put bacon on the top then realised afterwards it shouldn't have any...

Pizza is good as always but expensive we came back for the nostalgia but the place is seriously filthy. The baskets looks like they are never cleaned. Table 23 had rotten olives and food bits that smelled absolutely terrible and disgusting, toilets are nasty, chairs are dirty, no ventilation and smells like moist morning breath inside. Looks like they just don't care anymore about the place cause they know people will keep coming back anyways for the memories. Please don't reply to the review and just clean the place

Really disappointed to be writing this. We're working in Devon for the next 6-9 months, so I'd had a look online where was recommended. Here came up as a good option on a Sunday (we'll all be travelling down Sundays and staying for the week, & Sundays are always hard to find somewhere decent). I was on my own this evening, as the first one down here, so thought I'd give it a try. Its always fairly intimidating going into a place on your own, but this looked alright. I ordered a pint (very well kept Estrella) & was enjoying the place. Decor is good, nice atmosphere and decent choice of drinks. A group of staff (some working, others not) were sat at the end of the bar, playing cards and having a laugh... all good to this point. I'd noticed on the food menu (photo attached) that it said live music on Sundays, so when I ordered a second pint I asked the lad behind the bar if they had anything on this evening. He said "not tonight" and I thought that was it. Next thing I know, he goes back to his colleagues at the end of the bar & starts making a joke that I'd asked about the music. "live music tonight. is he joking?" ... "live music?" followed by sniggers and people having a laugh at my expense. It only stopped when somebody said "did you want to say that any louder?" when I expect they realised I was in earshot. It made me feel really uncomfortable, unwelcome and just went against the whole vibe of the place and the reviews I had read. I quickly finished my drink and left, I'm sure if you're a big group, or a regular, this would be an alright place, but as a person on your own I would absolutely give it a swerve... unless you want to be mocked by staff and openly talked about behind your back. We'll find somewhere else to eat / drink the next few months.

I’ve been coming to this pub for the last eight years, ever since I moved to Exeter, and it honestly feels like the end of an era. When it changed from private ownership to being part of a chain, there were already big differences, no more jugs of cider with syrup, a much smaller selection of local ales, but I still kept coming back because the atmosphere was so special. After the most recent refurbishment, though, the pub has been completely stripped of its personality. I understand that new electrics or bar improvements may have been necessary, but what made this place unique and cozy is simply gone. The warm, rustic feel has been replaced with something cold and clinical. Outside, the long benches and the iconic candles in the wine bottles are gone. Instead of soft yellow fairy lights, there’s now bright white glare that feels more like a waiting room than a pub garden. Inside, the rich red walls have been painted plain white, and all the quirky old furniture has been replaced with generic pieces you could find in any chain pub. It used to feel welcoming, cozy, and full of character, you could believe the stories that JK Rowling was inspired by the Old Firehouse when imagining The Leaky Cauldron for Harry Potter series. Sadly, no one would believe it now. Now it looks and feels like every other chain pub geared toward late-night student crowds. The magic, warmth, and individuality are gone. All that’s left is a generic shell. Unless they hang some TVs and turn it into a sports bar, it’s hard to imagine how it could lose any more of its former charm. I never thought I’d say this, but after so many years, I don’t see myself coming back. It’s just too sad to see what it’s become.

What a brilliant pub. The staff are so friendly, great atmosphere. We had a 14 inch sharing pizza. They are massive, delicious and great value for money. We are visiting from Wales. But it's a must visit pub

This place is brilliant. I don't know where you will find a better pizza, a better value pizza, a tastier pizza. The pizzas are 14" square, more than enough for 2 people. Decent price at around £20 and loaded with toppings. We shared a Cajun Chicken Pizza which was so tasty and stacked with Cajun Chicken, Pepperoni, ham and cheese. Absolute first class, with lovely staff and great service. Can't fault them.

Went there Sunday lunchtime and was pleasantly surprised by the new changes. They have kept the character and charm of the pub whilst adding some modern touches. The drunk chicken pizza was really nice and the selection of gins and beers on tap was great to see. I’m not in town very often but when I am, this will be my place to go for lunch. Isobel and Donna were very welcoming when we arrived

If I lived local, I would eat here on a weekly basis. I absolutely love fish, but it must be fresh and simply cooked IMHO. This was my second visit in 3 years (too long) and once again, Rockfish delivered. Tempura Prawns and grilled Gurnard with Romesco. The main course was totally memorable. Coline was super efficient and friendly. All in all, a very special meal. Thanks to the Rockfish team.

While the dishes might not have fully impressed, the charming ambiance and cozy setting made the experience truly delightful. A lovely place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Great experience! The restaurant is spacious and with a great view. A waiter first came to explain what the available fish on the day were. We took the king scallops as a starter and the monkfish tail and the plaice as the main dish! Everything was amazing! All the waiters were very helpful and polite! We will definately come back :)

The chef's work was DIABOLICAL. 1) Whitebait tasted strongly of chemicals. A bad batch. I tried two and had to spit both out. I don't understand how a chef could taste these and send them out like that. 2) Sauce accompanying the hake was ridiculously strong and you couldn't taste any fish underneath. Aftertaste like dried herbs lasted for minutes and wouldn't go away after swilling with wine. I don't understand how a chef could taste such a sauce and send it out. 3) Dover sole was CAKED on both sides with large crystals of salt. It tasted like a mouthful of salt and nothing else. Literally tasted as salty as the sea, no exaggeration. After a few bites, I got those bumps on my tongue like when you've had too many crisps. In the photo you can see the salt crystals all over. Like 10 times what a sane amount of salt would be, no exaggeration. I just can't understand it. Praise: 1) Chips were excellent. 2) Excellent service in general, and in reducing the bill appropriately in particular. 3) Nice atmosphere. I would give this place a chance after a couple of months, after the dodgy chef has had time to either improve or move on.

We arrived here late on a Sunday evening without a reservation. They were very busy and we weren’t feeling overly optimistic that they’d be able to seat us! But the absolutely lovely lady who welcomed us in said they could seat us in 30 mins time. She then offered us a seat over by the bar area so we could enjoy a drink before our meal. We enjoyed a glass of Rockfish rose, the Portuguese tinto red wine and the Salcombe Breeze as we perused the menu. We ordered the spidercrab croquettes, the fish tacos and the haddock and chips. All were absolutely delicious! The seafood tasted super fresh and the flavours of the dishes were well balanced and very tasty. The staff were very helpful although I would say we were informed about the catches of the day maybe slightly too late as we had already made our minds up from looking at the menu provided and didn’t know there was even more to choose from! The atmosphere was lively when we arrived, and I think perhaps the restaurant would have benefitted from a little more sound insulation as it was quite loud. It was ok for me but my parents were struggling a little with the noise levels. Overall a fantastically delicious meal in a lovely setting in the Exeter Quay. We will be back!

We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Botanist Exeter, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service truly made the evening feel extra special. A huge thank you to Eloise, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and celebrated. Her warm hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine kindness were exceptional. She had a natural way of making us feel valued without being overbearing—just perfect. It was clear she loves what she does, and it absolutely showed in the way she looked after us. Eloise truly made our evening, and she absolutely deserves her tip—make sure it gets to her! We’ve discovered there is another Botanist restaurant in our local area, which we will definitely be visiting. We highly recommend The Botanist Exeter for any special occasion—or simply a wonderful night out.

It was dinner for my friend's birthday here, and the Botanist was a really good place to have it. Everyone there was warm and kind. I brought a cake, and they put it on a nice platter when it was time for it. The food was tasty, and the portions were generous. It was also pleasing aesthetically when it was served, and the ambience was great. The manager on the day we went allowed the celebrant to have a free dessert. We found that very kind and thoughtful. One of the ladies on the team also helped us take pictures. We felt very welcome at the place.

My wife and I visited The Botanist on a Wednesday evening. Our decision was made as we had our 2 small dogs with us and they're a dog friendly restaurant. We were greeted at the door by cheerful, personable Jodi who allowed us to choose our table. Once seated Jodi engaged us in interesting/interested chat, way above the usual run-of-the-mill stuff. She talked us through the menu and gave welcome recommendations. Jodi was attentive and cheerful throughout our visit, she's a real asset to the establishment. We also met Michela who was also friendly, interesting and helped make us feel relaxed and at home. The food was tremendous, very hearty portions so thank goodness we had the dogs to help us out. We were both too stuffed for dessert. The restaurant itself has a very comfortable feel, interestingly decorated and had both diners seated and others just enjoying drinks in the bar area. Something for everyone. The kitchen has a large service opening so you can see food being prepared, nothing hidden. All in all it was a great dining experience and we'd happily visit again when we're next in Exeter.

Came here with my partner for her birthday evening meal and the service was light and friendly. We had a sharing platter and some halloumi fries for starters which was cooked well and plentiful. We then had a chicken burger and vegetarian burger for our main which was huge and delicious. Also reasonable priced for the location, atmosphere, service and food. All round lovely and will definitely return.

Delicious food and cocktails. Great service from friendly staff. It was very busy, but we didn't have to wait long for our food, which was piping hot and very tasty. Really well presented 21/05/25 A perfect place for lunch and cocktails with friends, followed by a short trek upstairs for happy hour cocktails on the roof terrace. We were given free popcorn when we got there to snack on whilst we deliberated over the menu. I recommend the chicken schnitzel, which came with seasoned fries, coleslaw and a delicious garlic oil for dipping. The cocktails were delicious too. Mojito was my favourite, it was made properly

Located in the old guild hall. The interior is full if false, plastic flowers. The service is bad especially after 8 when gets crowded. The food is simple and overpriced. The sweets menu is totally unhealthy and heavy. The roaring music makes it difficult to chat.,

This is a great bar and such a fantastic place to go on the quay. Their own beer and guest beers. Sensible prices. If you fancy a snack their scotch eggs are great.

Amazing Summer Party in the upstairs area with the private bar and stage. Beautifully decorated, great catering and drinks, atmosphere great with music. Staff were fantastic at helping arrange and accommodating to our needs. Would definitely recommend for private hire for any type of event! Thank you.

We went in there today to have a few drinks. My husband ordered a beer and I a non-alcoholic drink. While my husband went to the bathroom, they were struggling with the taps. They ended up with two glasses full of foam. They let this sit for a while, poured it together, and then my husband was served a completely "dead" beer without any carbonation. And yes - we should have said that when we tasted the beer. But they shouldn't have served it at all.

A nice charatirisric place to come and socialise. Exeter isn't my usual haunt of the woods but this place is a credit to it! With plenty of drink choices and nice pizza menu choice. Nice friendly bar service.

Great atmosphere, exceptional service, and tasty beers. My favorites were the West Coast IPA and Shiny Hazy Pale. We went twice, it was packed on Saturday night - we got a table, we just had to wait around for someone to leave. It was dead on Sunday night, available tables all around.

Great location by the Exeter Quay, lovely local craft beers and ciders. Definitely a winner if you're visiting the city with an added bonus: you can get freshly made pizza by the Quay and eat it whilst enjoying your beer.

Great place - had some lovely chilled drinks with friends and some not so chilled pre-night out drinks. Bar is more than the sum of its parts, great bar team who are always cheery and helpful and just a nice venue to be in. Lay off the country and western though guys ;) :D

Whatever the occasion, from a general drink to hiring the private room for functions, I always enjoy my time at Monkey Suit. The staff are friendly, polite, genuine down to earth funny people. With a variety of creative and tasty cocktails, I have always felt safe within the vicinity, on any given day of the week. Clean and spacious bar, comfy seating, and good music. It is dog friendly from opening time until early evening, the food is amazing and I highly recommend any pizza. Monkey suit can be a local hangout, date night or night out destination, with events organised and amazing local bands playing. I have held 2 events in the private rooms upstairs, and they have always been flexible with allowing you to set up, as well as clean up the room before and after your event.

Didn't try the food but the atmosphere was great and the standard espresso Martini was better! Very clean an tidy with helpful and courteous staff. Will definitely be back again soon. Thanks.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend and i was not disappointed. Cocktails were amazing (she did however say these didn't really taste the same as when she'd last came) none the less i really enjoyed my time here. They couldn't make the tokyo iced tea due to stocking issues but offered a really nice alternative of an electric lemonade which did not disappoint. We also tried pink ladies and pina coladas which also went down well!

First time in The Cocktail Club, doesn’t look much from the outside but great atmosphere once you’re in. We went on a Saturday afternoon for happy hour, lovely and quiet, can see it getting very busy in the evenings. Bartenders Alex and Jack were great, mentioned that if there were cocktails not on the menu they would make them but also offered suggestions if we liked a particular spirit or flavour. Will definitely be back!

Came here late last night with a couple of mates, found it loud at first, but eventually everyone got into the groove and started dancing. Guy in the hat and wearing glasses served all of us in one go and told us about the student offer which made prices a lot more reasonable. Long Islands were good, mojitos were better!

Overall the experience was good. To start….. We book a table and came in at 6pm for a few cocktails after watching the Women’s World Cup at Sandy Park. We are all women age 40+ The table was ready for us, our server was excellent and attentive. We joined in with the dancing and embraced the atmosphere and music. We had around 2 cocktails each. We settled our bill with our server. Went to leave to catch our train home. As we were leaving a very aggressive female security person stop us from leaving staying we hadn’t paid our bill. She was extremely rude aggressive. We were all extremely upset angry. Finally after getting our server over to confirm we had paid we were able to leave Sad ending to a enjoyable experience

I visited recently for a couple of drinks with some friends and the atmosphere of the bar was electric! The bar staff were amazing but Harriet in particular really made my night. She was lovely to talk to, provided perfect service that left me with a huge smile and had such a warming personality that ensured I would definitely be back! Overall this place is amazing to visit and I would highly recommend for anybody looking for a new regular bar to visit!

I come here on Friday nights after work and it is my favourite place to let my hair down! The menu is fantastic, with all the classics done perfectly and some creative twists that make it worth coming back for. The staff are super friendly and clearly know their stuff and theyre more than happy to recommend something new if you’re stuck for choice. Yes, on the weekend night it’s busy and loud, and that’s exactly what makes it so much fun!! It’s the perfect place to kick off a night out or celebrate with friends. If you love good drinks, good vibes, and a place that’s always full of life, you’ll love this place as much as me!

My experience at the cocktail club was exquisite, walked in and didn’t know what to order. Then a helpful bartender named Will suggested east state hold up and it was in fact a really good drink. Porsha also was really nice recommending all different types of shot. Overall my experience at this venue was amazing. Would suggest checking out and would recommend to others.

My friend and I went to the Cocktail Club and were very impressed by the quick and efficient service of the staff. Harriet and Liv were very friendly and approachable which made our experience one to remember! The drinks were very nice, we will be back to try some more soon.

Found this place by chance when we noticed the music playing on the street, we walked down a dark and styled alley to the basement entrance. Inside was a real intimate venue, the music fit the scene well and the barman greeted us in a warm, relaxed manner. When we checked the extensive cocktail list we found so many delicious options and couldn't leave it at one. Every drink was put together with skill by the barman that he delivered himself to our table. It was an absolute delight to be there and we were impressed with the service, venue and the amazing cocktails. Honestly would recommend this place to everyone visiting. A charming place with a great playlist. Loved it

Did the cocktail masterclass for a hen do. Martin was absolutely fantastic, highly entertaining. We loved the race to see who could make the quickest cocktail. Absolutely hilarious. Would highly recommend this experience, you learn everything there is to know about making cocktails while having a laugh too!

Best cocktail bar in Exeter by a mile! Warm welcome on arrival! Great choice of cocktails with live music and a different vibe from most other places in the city. Matt was amazing, very knowledgeable about the cocktails and spirits with great service (table service was very welcome). With a cute outside seating area to enjoy the sun. Will 100% be back to try the rest of the menu and for the great service.

Big venue plenty of space for the Lan event I attended loads of us in vr running about. The Bar staff, Security and the Cloakroom guy were great and friendly.

Lemon grove is a place for dance or exercise performances , it is very cool but I hope it can be more spacious and better for more people to dance with better equipment like video or stereo.

1st visit to this bar and pleased we found it (tucked away in the corner next to the Customs House). Had seen an Instagram post referring to some 'Disco Sliders' cocktails with an offer early evening. Great offer as it turns out, we had 2 of the 3 options (see pics), wish we'd ordered all 3 at the same time! Charming staff and quirky interior made this a great experience. Extra star available if we'd been allowed to upgrade to a 3rd slider on their offer!

What a find! The exquisite cocktailien would find a friendly, highly skilled chemist here to suggest an interesting and robust formula for slightly fogging the brain. Comfy, laid back charm with such a warm atmospheric vibe seems well hidden among the city. I got two-deep on my first visit but will be back!

If there are better cocktails in Exeter, I haven’t had them. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and a lovely, intimate setting and atmosphere. There take on the old fashioned with popcorn infused whisky was my personal fave.

Atmospheric hidden bar with great drinks. The bar man was very knowledgeable and passionate about the cocktail menu recommending drinks to suit our taste. The green dragon (with green chilli pepper) was delicious. The qwirky decor was very atmospheric. Definitely make a visit to this place.

It was my first time in Exeter and I was beyond excited to be surrounded by such kind, fun, and friendly people. My parents and I absolutely loved our waitress, Alisha she made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. The staff, the food, the whole experience was amazing. I can’t wait to come back in the future! ☺️

Food was really lovely! First time dining in. Enjoyed the food! I would advice to book in advance to save you some seats as it can get busy. Hannah was the one who looked after us. She made sure that we got our orders (food and drinks), doubled checked everything. Plus she is pretty. :)

I'm a big fan of Turtle Bay because there are lots of gluten free options for food (as long as you check on the website, they aren't listed as gluten free on the physical menu) and the staff are always super friendly. Plus delicious two for one cocktails, always a pleasant experience. Have been here a few times and it definitely won't be my last.

Service was super quick and efficient besides how busy it was. We had the same server throughout, which was really nice. Food was delicious! Our waiter Alisha I believe her name was, she was absolutely amazing and really kind! I will definitely be visiting again!

Sam L was fantastic server, brilliant energy, friendly and helpful. The food was fabulous, my daughter loves her seafood soul bowl. All in all we will be back.

Just popped in for a bit of lunch with my son, and was served by Char. The atmosphere was great and all of the team were very friendly, and hardworking. I was a little disappointed that they were out of curry goat, so I had to go for the chicken stew, and I am glad I did. It was really tender and full of flavour. Char was great. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Next time I am in the area, I will be back.

This place is quite nice. I went there for my birthday meal with my partner😊 we had steaks ,but first we had calamari for a starter. The service was very good. I really liked the inside of the place . They have very beautiful and original wall wine shelf. I loved it .

Still a go to for special occasions since almost 20 years! Found the seasoning lacking across all dishes we ordered, especially the main event - steak. The service was pleasant, professional and non-intrusive as always. The atmosphere and decor always cozy and special. Hopefully, the seasoning can be less reserved and more confident on next visit! Overall, still our favourite. Visited 29th April early dinner.

It was my sons 30th birthday today, and we enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Harry's. There were 8 of us, and the service was excellent, all meals out together and no-one had to wait. Some awesome dishes: roasted squash and burrata, beef carppacio, wild mushrooms on toast and whitebait. Followed by crab linguine, steaks, pork milanese, risotto and burger, and finally some excellent desserts.

Beautiful & quaint. Focusing on quality not quantity. Fresh produce. Attentive staff. The nicest cut of fillet that I've seen & tasted. The cheese soufflé was to die for. Worth the travel. Will definitely be returning

To the Harry’s team!….how wonderful you are! A beautiful classic venue with such a relaxing & genuine vibe!. The special board teased with a venison, Brie & cranberry burger & it was simply perfect! The balance of flavours divine! As we couldn’t decide on a main, my friend and I had to share two mains, so we got a little taste of more than one dish! The other dish was the classic lasagna, which strangely I have not tried at Harry‘s before. it was delicious although if we could have a little more of the wonderful beef Ragu through the middle next time That would make it even better! I can’t wait to come back next week to try the crab linguine or the hake….. That will be a tough choice! We only wish you had another venue a little closer to us! Second time visiting this lovely little place looking over the catheridal green. The first time I tried the breakfast and the second time we had lunch and both occasions, the food was well presented, good portion sizes, and very tasty. I have to say the hot chocolate is one of the best ones I've ever had. It has seating outside and inside with an upstairs too. Staff are friendly. Would recommend visiting

We had a brunch here and we enjoyed it. As we need quite time we set outside with the Catedral view. Very friendly service and budget meal prices.

We enjoyed the location next to the Cathedral and the food- especially the plentiful gluten free options and iced tea. Sit by the light pole if you want shade outside and there are no more umbrella tables. The chips/fries were excellent! My husband enjoyed the chicken sandwich. We were amused that you can add alcohol to the smoothies.

Met up with friends, enjoyed a lovely cream tea with fresh scones and delicious carrot cake. Confusion over whether we could have cake without a main course although it was 3pm, but it turned out that because we had booked for cream teas and requested a cake alternative option we were able to have it. Very generous portions. It was very busy but service was good once order was sorted.

The jewel in J.D. Wetherspoon’s crown. Lovely old building that was once a private home, then a hotel. Now the most luxurious ‘Spoons’ we’ve visited yet. Food at the usual quality and price but served in an orangery designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and which at one time was attached to the main building of Exeter University. The ballroom is also part of the eating area and has a plaster ceiling by the celebrated Robert Adam. The manager is on the board of directors such is the prestige of the place. We had a couple of breakfasts and one evening meal here all great value and quickly served. Well worth a visit. We will return when in the area.

Lovely picturesque setting. Haven't ordered food as I'm awaiting pickup. They went to Plymouth 👀 to pick me up. May order later if they'd like to eat. Seagulls are exceptionally fast to the table for scraps. Staff are amazing and there is table service in the garden area. Well done as it's on a slope

What a great pub and well worth a visit if you're in Exeter. You can't go too wrong with a Wetherspoons and the prices were consistent with others. Food going out looked good but we didn't eat here Lots of parking (although we caught the train.... about 5 minutes steep walk from St David's) Huge amounts of space inside and out with lots of attractive features Seagulls are a bit of a menace if you're sitting outside but staff seemed switched on, attentive and quick to clear the outside tables

What a wonderful place. Great atmosphere friendly staff. It was very busy but the service was quick. They had two rooms booked for private parties but unfortunately the signs weren't clear enough and we accidentally gatecrashed both of them.

Best Spoons in the country! It’s a converted house and they’ve kept so much of the original design and layout. Huge outdoor space which is gorgeous in the sun. Drinks and food are standard Wetherspoons, no revelations there. The Jalfrezi was decent: tender chicken, good flavours but a part of the naan was dry and the poppadoms were underwhelming. The chicken burger was bad and the cheese wasn’t even melted on it. But the overall experience is great and well worth a visit.

We spend a lot of time in Exeter but we have never been here !! My fiancées daughter, as a College student used to tell us to come here. Well…. we are here,sat outside on a warm Friday afternoon surrounded by “Proms”parties ‼️ The garden is lovely and the house is and no doubt was even more luxurious back in the 1800s ‼️There are no more superlatives for “Spoons” that I can add to the hundreds I have already stated previously. It does what it says on the tin…

My photos do not do this enormo-Spoons justice. The usual menu and cheap drinks plus the building is staggeringly impressive. The staff are as good as you get in Spoons and deserve all the accolades they receive.

Wow! What a fab pub! We shared a fish finger sandwich, portion of chips and a garlic bread. The garlic bread was a whole garlic baguette (£4.50), portion of chips enough for 2 (£6.50) and the fish fingers were homemade. What a treat! Great service, great beer and not a wasp in site!

Perfect 10/10 As you approach, there is an amazing relaxing atmosphere outside, with family's friends and holiday makers all eating drinking and enjoying the live Jazz. Inside I was greeted and shown to my booked table, the staff were friendly professional and relaxed. The food was top quality all freshly made with local ingredients, the chef even made a low sugar pudding for my partner. It was not just lunch it was a great all round experience.

A relaxing pub in the heart of the quay. The food was good quality at decent sized portions. Service was quick and friendly too.the only let down were the awful unclean toilets.

Beautiful Quayside pub with a nice decor and plenty of sunlight if you are in the right area. Staff were very good at helping the Canadian that I am navigate around the food and drink (Which was fantastic). When we attended there, it a relaxed and quiet, which I really appreciated at that moment. Would go there again in a heartbeat.

Had the fish and chips and a cider. I was expecting a large piece of cod, but it was small, and mainly batter. It was cooked pretty well, but the peas were a little dry, and the chips were okay; certainly not what I was expecting. 56 pound for a two beers and two meals, that's about $75 bucks (could of got the same spread for $45 bucks or 30 pound). Honesty, just get a drink, and find a chippy, save some money. Atmosphere, good. Service, not bad.

Found this pub whilst in Exeter for work. Food was superb - amongst the best I have had in any pub anywhere - well cooked and really delicious. A good use of local produce and a nice range of local beers too. Service friendly and atmosphere warm (including from Quince, their new puppy). Overall an excellent experience and I am trying to figure out if I need to be in Exeter again sometime!

This was a great bar for drinking, with a modern and bright atmosphere! This is brought out by the lighting with the decor including mock greenery, counter is stylish in its own right anyway. Seating is nice outside and we shared out a shots stick, a tad on the expensive side though.

Stag do Josh, Last weekend, me and a group of friends headed to Revolution Exeter. and honestly, it was one of the best nights we’ve had in ages! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing. The music was on point—great mix of old-school classics and current hits that kept us dancing all night. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, even though it was a busy evening. They made sure our table was ready, drinks were flowing, and everyone felt looked after. Speaking of drinks—top tier. The cocktail menu is packed with creative options the beer options are highly recommend. The place had the perfect vibe for a group night out: fun, lively, and with enough space to dance but also chill out and chat. We stayed way later than planned because we were just having that good of a time. Massive shoutout to the team at Revolution Exeter for making our night so memorable. What an absolutely fabulous time we had for my sisters Birthday on Saturday 21st June 2025. We went for the bottomless brunch and my God it did not disappoint. My wife and I had a rare weekend to ourselves so we headed out for a night on the town and to rekindle our youth. We had a great time at Revs (it’s a chain you can trust) and the night flew by. The food was good and the drinks were a great price. They tasted great going down, although less enjoyable coming back up at the hotel later, but that didn’t spoil the night. Would definitely recommend

We spent a weekend in Exeter and stumbled upon Lloyd’s Lounge—and I’m so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like VIPs. As a massive Pornstar Martini fan, I can honestly say theirs are the best I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve tried plenty! The vibe was brilliant, with great music that really set the scene for a fun night. Highly recommend Lloyd’s Lounge—100%!

Myself and my mum went here for food and cocktails a couple of weeks ago. Everything was amazing from start to finish. As soon as we walked in, someone greeted us and sat us down straight away. Recently celebrated my 30th birthday (and surprise engagement!) with the partial private hire of the venue and it was amazing. Jodie was incredibly helpful in the lead up to the event, nothing was too much and she made sure every detail was taken care of and personalised. The staff were incredibly attentive on the night and the host was super friendly and welcoming.

Been coming here for years and years and have always had a really nice experience. Food is consistently delicious, cocktails cool and tasty, service is professional, warm and efficient. Andy great for a grown up lunch while in town. HIGHLY recommended.

We showed up on the day to book in for a bottomless and staff were great at squeezing us in without a booking. Great drinks, nice pizzas and even gave us a pizza box to take leftovers home. Cocktails were great and very attentive and quick and bringing next drinks over! Issy and Chloe were brilliant and we’ll be coming again!

Jazz went above & beyond to provide us with exceptional service & nothing was too much trouble. I have food allergies which were no trouble at all & the food was gorgeous too. What a breath of fresh air this place is. A city pub with great drinks great food free games and incredibly nice staff. The pub itself is clean and very well presented, it has a great atmosphere and the staff are second to none. I came in here with my wife, my daughter and friends expecting to have a quick drink before finding a restaurant for lunch, but after five minutes and a glance at the menu we realised that we didn't need to go anywhere. The young lady behind the bar (I think her name was Jazz, sorry if I got that wrong) was incredibly friendly, chatty, helpful and is a massive asset to the pub. The gentleman working with her was engaging, witty and friendly and a pleasure to chat to. Thank you guys, we had a blast!

Brilliant pub especially for sports and food. Staff are so friendly and helpful, amazingly opened for us at 8am to watch SA vs. NZ rugby! They weren't planning to open so early but did so after we called the day before. It was so unexpectedly kind! Brilliant service throughout, really high quality and well cooked breakfast, great drinks selection, plenty of space and big screens, great for all sports but especially rugby (loads of interesting memorabilia around), and free pool! We love this pub so much ❤️

Great café with good selection of hot beverages and cakes. Alcohol sold too! Quirky arty displays, good sized production area with ample seating. Disabled toilets, although many steps to the front of the building. Not sure where access is for wheelchair users? All in all good experience.

Went to see Dubioza Kolektiv. Absolutely brilliant experience! Cosy venue and all staff really friendly. Had an amazing time.

Went to see Anthony Gomes and was surprised to see a odd seating arrangement . Later People stood up to the band and the magic happened . No stage just up close and personal. The venue is great though and the staff are friendly which is a plus .

came down from gloucester to go to the helen bauer show there tonight and it was wonderful! so funny and me and my boyfriend had such a good time! dan on the front desk was so helpful and gave us a magical tour of the galleries as we turned up early to the show!! will definitely be paying to attention to the next time they have a comedy night on !!

It's a great venue but small bar and you have to walk through it to get to the stage make it not the best layout. I actually didn't get a drink on my last visit because it was easier to just go straight through to the stage rather than attempt to try and get a drink and miss the start.

I used to love the place but have had two visits now where the bartender has been rude on arrival. But the most recent visit was bizarre. At this one he had a Trump cap hanging off the bar and was talking to two guests in some pretty derogatory and racist terms about Chinese people, Arabs and South Africans and then bizarrely he started spouting off conspiracy theories about chem trails, sacrificing children, pizza gate and several others. Then he started talking about trying to get people as far right as he can. Bars aren't the place for this. If my bartender started spouting communist propaganda I would be just as annoyed. Don't think I'll be back. Judging by the fact there were 4 people in there on a Saturday evening I'm guessing most other regulars have heard this rubbish and given up too.

A quirky bar serving a few craft ales, including a gluten free one, which we tried and lots of spirits. Was overcharged for a 2/3 measure of one which I assume was just a calculation error and wasn’t a problem. I can’t report any abuse from the staff like in other recent reviews though I did overhear it may be up for sale.

I usually don’t leave reviews, especially such poor one star reviews either. But after being spoken down to by an abrasive bartender with glasses who spent more time talking down to me condescendingly, not to mention cracking gay jokes about ‘blowjobs not on the menu’ at my expense, with his old friend at the end of the bar, all within a total of two minutes of entering and walking out… I doubt I’ll be back. Judging by the other five recent reviews this guy seems to have on here, I’m even more saddened that people have tried to bring this to light and failed. You are who you chose to employ, or keep employed, I guess.

The bloke behind the bar was so incredibly rude. His smug attitude was unbearable to be around and judging by recent reviews I am not the only one to share these feelings. He stormed out following me out of the pub as I was leaving, shouting at me because I hadn't bought a drink and had the cheek to call me rude! I didn't feed into his clear ignorance and just walked away but I would not recommend going here, it's a shame as it's in a lovely spot and the decor is nice but wow atmosphere and service is everything and unfortunately this was failed.

A good place to sit outside and catch the best of the evening sun in the city, but that’s about it now. Used to be friendly, vibey and buzzing and had a good selection of independent beers… now the pumps on the bar have Cruzcampo, Moretti, Guinness which are all fine but not living up to the Indy image it’s trying desperately to cling on to. We chose the small brewery IPA and it came out flat and warm. As for the service, it’s like we’d ruined the guy behind the bars day by having the effrontery to ask for a beer which we’d pay (lots) for. His attitude was pitched between totally offhand and actively rude. We won’t bother again, which is a shame as it used to be a great bar.

Advertised opening at 3pm Saturday - so walked on in just after 3 to be told rudely and sarcastically by a stuck up staff member that it was not open "as the sign on the door says" - decided to go somewhere friendlier. Maybe he should buy a watch and a new attitude whilst he's at it.

As recommended by Rob, a drink that tastes of pure happiness! This is a cute, atmospheric pub with a mind boggling array of options just next to Exeter Central Station. Would recommended 👌

Common place for freshers to lose their bar virginity in Exeter. They play corny outdated early 2000s music which the patrons have little control over. You would jump through hoops and download some half-baked app developed by some college kid for their summer pet project, only to realize you could only choose from the 15 pre-selected bangers from 2000s Billboard Best Elevator Songs. Do not get wings because they are cheap with their portions. Mostly because they are dry and borderline unfit for consumption. Great for sporting events if you do not want to mingle with locals (as we all know they stink).

Typical uni/student bar. Good prices for food and drink. Don't expect a gourmet experience. It is what it is. No complaints about service or quality. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Nice student pub with very affordable drink prices, great for meeting friends and hosting casual gatherings. The food, however, leaves a lot to be desired. It tastes microwaved and lacks freshness. While it's cheap, the quality doesn't quite match expectations, and right now, it’s pretty disappointing.

Took 15 minutes to order because their bar was closed and the mobile service kept having errors. I did finally manage to order the ‘famous’ macaroni cheese, but unfortunately it quickly became apparent that ‘famously dreadful’ would be a much more accurate description of it. It was by far the single worst thing I’ve eaten since moving to university two years ago. Absolutely dire. Easily the worst macaroni cheese I’ve ever tried, making it somehow even worse than the suspicious microwave meal I get from the corner shop. The best that I can say for the place is that the booze is reasonably priced - not cheap, just reasonable.

Great hangout for students. Food prices are student friendly, and atmosphere is great. Excellent serving sizes and halal meat options are available sometime if you ask for them (they are not explicitly stated on the menu).

Usually packed when the students are in town. Good and wide range of beers at cheap prices. Plus all the sports with many large screens.

Great pub with a really nice atmosphere

I rated 5 stars for food, though they do not do food, BUT, the service, my oh my, I don’t think I am understated when I say that the experience was nothing short of phenomenal. So phenomenal I just had to give the whole place 5 well earned stars from top to bottom. To begin, I entered the quaint establishment, and was immediately hit with the palpable, joyful atmosphere. For a student bar, the aesthetics were wonderful and charming. As I approached the bar a lovely young bartender, I think her name was suchi, served me with a smile and made me feel like she really cared about providing a great service. I ordered a classic thatchers gold, and it was poured excellently, and for a great price! I only popped in for one after my shift at work, but the energy was infectious and the working attitude of the staff was so amazing and nice to be a part of. I intend to visit this pub all the time and you should too!

Great local pub with amazing prices. Great atmosphere with very friendly staff. Good for student nights out during the week. Tuesday karaoke night gets you a free drink if you join in! Overall great vibe and would highly recommend to any locals or students in Exeter.

The burgers at this establishment were decent, albeit not remarkable enough to rave about to others. However, the real highlight of the experience was their spicy chips, which offered a delightful and tasty twist. I can attest that while the burger's overall quality didn't stand out as exceptional, the distinctly flavorful chips successfully compensated for it, providing a satisfactory dining experience.

This has to be the worst ever pub in Exeter in terms of it being so drab. We called it the 'sunshine indoors' pub as it was furnished with bbq tables?? To top it all they allowed some foul mouthed person to parade up and down the bar area on his mobile. They apparently served food but 'no menu' to view. Who owns this pub?? Invest some money and sort out what could be a good pub and serve the community.

Fantastic pub. Five stars. Ran an event here with 30+ people in attendance and the staff were incredible. They were very generous and helpful throughout the night. Amazing karaoke setup and reasonably priced drinks. Would recommend to anyone in Exeter.

Unlikely to be too much atmosphere when you're the only one watching football on a weekday evening. Much improved decor from previous visit a few years ago.

Cheap and cheerful Staff nice

Popped in for a night cap on Wednesday night and had a lovely drink. The bar staff were very welcoming and efficient - only two tiny negatives - only cocktails on the menu are possible (fair enough, but we were hankering for a Long Island Ice tea. In the end we went for a great Old Fashioned, Dark and Stormy and Aperol. Only comment is a tiny bit more sweetness would be good but it’s always personal preference. Would come back another day.

I have both feared and loathed the fact that I've never been able to order a Singapore Sling from any of the multitude of cocktail bars I've been to in my time, let alone one in Exeter but hey presto: here is one that does that drink magnificently.

Fantastic service and the whole vibe is relaxed and professional. Friendly atmosphere and really really great drink selection. Staff are fab and some lovely cocktails too. Acoustics when busy aren't great but otherwise a really nice experience.

Lovely river side place to be. Sunny seats out the front. Lovely inside. Clean toilets. They took a long while to make two latte drinks but they tasted nice. Place to be if you want pizza or a burger.

I don’t complain about food and haven’t in the last 5 years or so, but I had to send my katsu chicken burger back for to the size, the portion would of been great for a child as the chicken was the size of a wing, it had the smallest amount of katsu sauce with a tiny stale toasted bun, Was offered another meal so asked for a pulled pork pizza and was astonished how someone can make a pizza completely tasteless, over cooked and this was like it was eating straw, Over priced poor food with overpriced drinks, This is a real shame as a year ago or so this was a great place to eat. The server was great though as he done well looking after us all.

Let down slightly by some of the food: the dough balls were really dense and pork belly a bit mid - was looking for more flavour from it. Pizza is always a solid choice here and gets a 4/5. Generous toppings and a wide selection. Staff were friendly and attentive

Worst pizza I’ve ever had. I ordered a mushroom and squash pizza. Cubes of undercooked (boiled) crunchy squash and slimy tasteless mushrooms out of a jar chucked on a pizza for nearly £18. Not even a drizzle of oil or some herbs to flavour the veg on top. I will eat pretty much anything when hungry but it was disgusting. Not only that had to wait for nearly an hour when the place was not at all busy. I can see why now. Won’t be eating there again.

Came for food in a small party of 7 on a Monday evening. Very quiet in the restaurant only a couple of tables taken. Staff were fine, atmosphere was lacking didn’t seem to be any background music, was just very quiet. Food was very poor, we all had pizza n paid extra for stuffed crust. I would not recommend this, the crust was made far too big and ended up being half the pizza, and definitely was not stuffed! Myself and another had the Spanish sausage pizza, there appeared to be a serious shortage of toppings which was really disappointing and everyones pizza was undercooked in the middle. £18 for a pizza is absolutely ludicrous considering how cheap it is to make pizza, couple that with half the pizza being crust, hardly any toppings on an area that had already been made smaller by that crust and then being undercooked is simply just taking advantage. The restaurant was empty so you would think the chef had plenty of time to get it right but appeared they just could not be bothered. In an age where alot of businesses are trying to squeeze as much as they can from customers this place seems no different. Premium price pizza for sub par quality. I doubt i will be returning and definitely will not be recommending.

Can’t speak for rooms or food as we just popped in for a quick drink. The welcome was second to none. Such a warm, welcoming landlady we felt so at home. Beautiful pub too.

Stayed there for the night. Room was good. Stayed in a basic single room which suited me. Food and drink were great, and so were the staff. Can't really fault. Would recommend.

Went in for a Sunday carvery wish I didn’t bother gammon was cold the lamb didn’t taste of lamb the roast potatoes were dry and hard like cooked a few days before then reheated, carrots tasted funny, Yorkshire puds were Lidls cheap and nasty, mint sauce was just water, you get given a tiny amount of cauliflower cheese, definitely not worth the £14, asked for a refund and the man was rude. Save yourself the hassle go somewhere else

*Review for the accommodation, didn’t dine in the pub itself* Stayed a Saturday night. Positives first: -Location is excellent. -Nice big windows with plenty of light in the room. (Now bearing in mind it’s a Saturday night and above a pub so there’s going to be music and noise.) Cons: -Windows aren’t double glazed so it sounds like the windows are open and you hear every bit of noise outside. So this means you hear the drunkards yelling in the street till the early hours even after the pub is shut and every bit of traffic. -room is very compact (double) so better if there’s just one of you (ok for me) -Walls are thin and could hear the conversation and coughing of the people in the room next to me -No WiFi details given Overall, glad I brought ear plugs just in case. Bring a hairdryer if you need one - my fault for not checking. In my experience for the price of £76 you’re better off to spend a bit more and go somewhere else. Rooms really should be priced lower considering all the above.

Great location Within walking distance of the city centre and the train station. Car park outside is cheaper than in the city centre ones. The Staff were friendly and polite, the pub is clean and the food was very tasty. We had the breakfast (double up) and we were very impressed. Everything was great produce, the only thing I wish is that I had more mushrooms, next time I'll ask for extra. The seem to do great deals on drinks and have a pool table and sports on, so I reckon it's a busy pub on the weekends and evenings, Great prices and Overall very happy. Will be coming back

We were a party of 8 and arrived 1.5hours before food service was over, yet it really seemed as if the staff did not want to serve us. One was so rude to one of our party that they decided not to eat. If I am in the area, I won't be goi g back here.

There's a security camera *inside* the gents toilets. While pointing away from the urinals, the big mirror it is pointing to directly reflects the urinals. I'm sure the pub has it's justification for this, just like I have a justification for never coming back
