Park
Mincinglake Valley Park, located in the Stoke Hill area of Exeter, was once a waste tip but has since been transformed into a 19-hectare public space filled with woodland, meadows, and a stream. A 15-minute walk from Saunders, this park offers a countryside feel despite its uphill terrain. It's an ideal spot for nature lovers seeking to escape the city's hustle and bustle.
One of Exeters beautiful areas to get away from the city's hustle and bustle. These are the places we need to fight to keep! I know we need houses but as we learned from lockdown, we NEED and CRAVE nature as well. I feel blessed to have such a gorgeous location on my doorstep. This place is a sacred treasure! It is an excellent dog walking area. Lovely open spaces for running, jogging, walking or having a picnic. There is a beautiful little river with little wooden bridges and vast fields to stroll through. There is a field with a bench right up the top near Pendragon Road and it has the most wonderful view. It is a great spot to sit and relax.
Lorna C — Google review
Beautiful spot, lovely place for a picnic. Only downside is there didn't seem to be any toilets anywhere, which was difficult for my 3 year old. Great place to explore if the weather is nice!
Lewis W — Google review
The perfect spot to take your dog for a walk or to just have a wonder around on your own or with friends and family. Extremely easy to walk with many choices of distance (depending on route chosen) with benches placed throughout and can be back at the free car park (with a bottle bank depository) in no time. On a sunny day this park (more like open field) is the perfect getaway from life and provides a little perspective as you mosey on through. Also if you go in season you can pick as many blackberries as you can carry. If you haven't been before definitely recommend checking it out!
Philippe C — Google review
Favourite place for shaded dog walk and views are lovely
Fiona R — Google review
Lovely space for a dog walk or stroll. Great little nooks and crannies for both dogs and kids to explore. Dog poo bins are available once you walk about a mile in and also a few benches in the clearing. Some dog walking companies bring about 10 dogs together off the lead, which can be tiresome as they don’t always behave, but not a regular occurrence. Not much parking, but it doesn’t get too busy during weekday mornings.
Feyaza K — Google review
A lovely quiet area with a little river running along side the forest and rolling fields as far as the eye can see .
James C — Google review
A lovely country walk set in some semi mature woodland. Paradise for dog walkers and runners.

Belmont Park is a public area that features a bowling green and a sensory garden designed for the visually impaired, along with a playground and various sports facilities. These gardens are truly magical, exuding beauty and tranquility amidst lush green plains. The air is perfumed with the sweet scent of blossoms, while the melodious songs of birds fill every corner.
Relaxing. Lovely park to while away the hours. Shady under a tree on a hot day. Would return next time I'm in Exeter. Cool graffiti just outside.
Matt C — Google review
Pretty big park so close to the centre - large areas and some more secluded ones. Good playground for a wide age range. Also some adult exercise equipment.
Jonny L — Google review
Typically park with circular path going around, basketball court, children's play area with swings, slides, monkey bars, etc, a community house to rent functions equipped with kitchen hall rooms and toilets. There are a few attractive exercise machines as well forming an outdoor gym. Good park for picnics, children's play, exercise and sports. It also hosts the Respect Festival every year.
Wares F — Google review
Belmont Park in Exeter always seems to be busy & popular. Outside play area for kids, plenty of space for dogs to run. Lots of things happening here. Yesterday, two groups of dancers were performing.
Mark B — Google review
A pleasant garden to walk around. Good playgrounds for children of all ages and outdoor gym equipment for adults to use. Sensory garden that would probably be enjoyable in spring and summer but not much to see in December, understandably. No public toilets in gardens.
Robin M — Google review
Leafy, green, large fenced urban park area with play areas and multiple use options. Dogs allowed and most humans!!
Nick M — Google review
Great local park with a community feel. There is an annual Music and Diversity festival with good food stalls call 'Respect', it's dry, and surprisingly good. Just a small charity donation to enter. It's held around the end of June.

Cowick Barton Playing Fields is a spacious and well-maintained park in Exeter, praised for its open space that's perfect for children and dogs to play. The park features goal posts for football enthusiasts and a play area for kids, although it may attract some teenagers on bikes or scooters. Visitors can enjoy evening walks, morning jogs, dog walks, and even football practice in this lovely green space maintained by the Exeter city council.
Lovely park very well maintained by the Exeter city council. Very good place for a evening walk, morning jogging, dog walk, kids play and even to practice football. Had been walking here since last Autmn hope to add more beautiful photos in the summer

Pete W — Google review
A big open space which is great for dogs and children to play. There are goal posts for people who like to play football and there is also a play park for children. The play park does however attract some teenagers (with bikes/scooters) who don't always respect that there are younger children playing.
James M — Google review
This is a great park as it has a little bit of everything and suitable for all ages. There are two sets of play equipment as well as a small ground basket ball and a tennis court. The field itself is large enough to support many ball games. Also the variety of trees is very good and recently a lot of fruit trees have been planted.
Exeter T — Google review
A good place for a run around. Open fields for kicking a ball about. There's a nice path circling the park which is handy for kiddies on their bikes. A range of play equipment spread out along one side although not much for small ones. Small car park too. Possible draw back is that its popular with dog walkers.

Barley Valley Nature Reserve, located between Exwick and St Thomas in Exeter, is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts. The park offers a tranquil setting with rolling hills, woods, meadows, and panoramic views of the city and surrounding area. It's an ideal spot for hiking with your dog or taking a leisurely walk to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
This is truely a hidden gem for hikers around Exeter. You have a wonderful view of the city and surrounding area from here. Lots of bees and butterflies could ve seen. The public access footpath looks narrow and wet and could become slippery after a rain. But that is not a reason for missing this nice place for a hike
Anoj T — Google review
I walk Harry here most times I walk him. It is a good place to walk your dog. It can get muddy in places. Panoramic views of Exeter including the university, town, the cathedral, Marsh barton and even as far as Topsham and Lympstone on a clear day.
Dave E — Google review
Nice little park area with walking trail. Limited seating and no trash bins let it down a little, as people walking through tend to drop trash.

Nice place to go to. Can get quite busy on a sunny day but better visit on a work day. Nice views of Exeter. Fun to go with kids. Just some dog keepers should pick up theirs dogs poo as well as if you bring food/drinks with you take your rubbish back home and dump it in your living room instead of leaving it there. Morons.

Heavitree Pleasure Ground is a sprawling park that offers free fun for the whole family. It's especially lively in the summer when the paddling pools are open, but it's a great spot for picnics and play all year round. The park features a fenced-off children's play area, making it safe for little ones to roam and have fun. There are also opportunities for activities like football, skateboarding, and biking.
Great play park, recently updated including a great onsite cafe Inc children's party venue, I can remember from my junior years and my mum taken me and my sister's there, Great 3 different size paddling pools, but sadly today Tuesday 16 July 24 all the gates were chained and the paddling pool area was closed to the public, shame as such a lovely hot summer's day Photos of the pool are from previous visits,
Shawn T — Google review
Lovely park, large fenced area around play park, and also fenced shallow paddling pool area. Lots of large picnic tables and beaches too. Cafe and toilets too. Spent a very pleasant afternoon here.
Heather L — Google review
Fantastic playground, 3 paddling pools and cafe. Lovely day!! 👌
Denise M — Google review
Large playing area, with a lovely swimming pool for kids. There are lots of picnic tables to seat. The playground is located inside a large green park. It has several tennis grounds and basketball field to play. There is a place for skate. Lovely plave to spend time and kids with all ages would enjoy here.
Zeinab K — Google review
Living just around the corner we love to walk here every day. The park is kept tidy and is always busy with dog walkers, children in the pools and tennis. The hub is lovely to sit with a coffee and people watch and the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
Wendy R — Google review
Brilliant open space with lots of areas to walk and explore. Mini dirt track tennis, basketball hoops, bowling green, play park, splash pads (not currently working) to name a few. Cafe is fab too
EmPower — Google review
Great playground, love that it has 3 small pools, could do with 3 more the otherside as they gets too busy in the summer holidays. Great field for a walk or game of football or others sports/ exercise. Parking is a little hard due to paid parking and it being alongside homes which also use the spaces.

Bury Meadow Park, established in 1850, is a city park located in Exeter. It features children's playgrounds with a variety of equipment suitable for toddlers and kids under 12. The park also offers wooden activity trails and open parkland, making it an ideal spot for families to enjoy outdoor activities. With its wide walking paths and benches, the park provides a spacious and accessible area for casual ball games, dog walking, and other recreational activities.
Lovely sunny park. So central Open to everyone - feels welcoming . Lovely houses to look at too!

VENKATA D — Google review
Nice park adjacent to exeter town centre, good kids playpark & a tranquil atmosphere
Jon C — Google review
Chilled out park where students picnic out during lunch or after classes. Popular place for Exeter uni and Exeter college students. Not particularly known for being a children's park.
Wares F — Google review
Huge play area with loads to do for kids of most ages, though probably the best for 4+. There's a smaller fenced in area for preschoolers and toddlers, but very young children can't use most of it. My 6 and 8 year old girls loved it, though, especially the trampoline. The green areas surrounding the park are lovely, too. Very spacious. The only negative is there's no public loos anywhere nearby. Not great when you've got young children desperate for the loo!
Therese J — Google review
This is a ok park. This park has been somewhat refreshed over the past couple of years, but its function as a play park has about halved. The older kids side is pretty poor now. Most of the wooden structures have been removed and replaced by stumps of wood for some reason, and the ground trampoline has been fenced off for repair but not been repaired for over a year. They have however they have added a flat bottom rope swing which is nice. The younger childrens side (under 14 I believe) has had lots of work and is actually pretty decent. There are 2 slides, 6 swing (2 for babies and toddlers) and some climbing frames. The surrounding open field and trees are lovely for a casual walk. I take my boy their a few times a month and he likes it plenty.
Michael B — Google review
A medium sized park with good access to the city centre, the accessibility of the park is good as it is quite flat. This park is more orientated towards use by children rather uses by adults. The park is quite open and is good for some dog walking and other activities such as casual ball games.
Ryan M — Google review
Great place to meet up with friends and family to spend quality time together , it covers a large area surrounded by huge old trees ,there is picnic tables scattered about and a large area grassed area for ball games and a good choice of children's play equipment. It is all open in the middle so if children are playing on equipment they are always in sight.

The Play Park, located at the King George V Playing Fields in Countess Weir, is a highly acclaimed and inclusive park. It is recognized as the 6th most accessible play park globally, with wheelchair-accessible equipment, sensory features, and accommodations for visitors with visual or learning impairments. The park offers ample space for various activities such as football and includes disabled-friendly facilities.
Great, inclusive park with a nice range of games/rides. I wish there were more places like this for kids to play and parents to de-stress.
Chris H — Google review
We really like this play park because every ride caters for people with different disabilities, How nice to see younger children and even older adults with disabilities enjoying themselves with a big smile and laughter filling the air, I was amazed at how the thought went about so people with disabilities could also join in and even people using wheelchairs can use the feature, Wheelchair see-saw """ """ Special swing, "" Roundabout, g- force 4 seater roundabout (that's what I call it) The main attraction for wheelchair users is the big obstacle course type 2 story adventure feature, Start by going up a long ramp to get to the top then follow the different ways around, Explaining this wonderful park in my words but if you have never visited before I recommend taking your loved ones as a family or even carers out for a picnic and have fun for all, Also a vast open green space with picnic tables etc, Photos I will add when I get a not so busy day to take some of the interesting features
Shawn T — Google review
Great place, loads of space to play football, several pitches plus a park to play with disabled facilities for those in wheelchairs to go on things which is great. Only thing that let's it down is the toilets are pretty disgusting. There is parking here too.
Dami B — Google review
My little one loved it. I like how a lot of the play things are wheelchair friendly. Not an issue for us but I think it's important to be inclusive. The only downside is some of the climbing things are a bit old for my son. They are cleverly laid out so he can't play on them - but that didn't stop him asking. Not a negative really though. He will be able to go on them when he's a bit older.
Ben G — Google review
This play park is on my feed every time I walk within 250 metres of it. I don’t go in.
Simon M — Google review
Amazing. Best play park in Exeter. Completely accessible for all children, including those with disabilities. Such a fantastic local find, I'm really pleased with how much there was to do. The kids loved it and already want to go back, which I'm sure I will have to take them again tomorrow!

Northernhay Gardens, located in the heart of Exeter, Devon, England, is a historic and picturesque urban oasis. Established in 1612 as a leisure area for residents, it holds significant historical value with remnants of Roman and Saxon walls. The garden boasts mature trees and vibrant seasonal floral displays, including an impressive collection of 59 Cornus varieties. Visitors can also spot wildlife such as peregrines and sparrowhawks amidst the serene surroundings.
These gardens were beautiful to visit, showing the blossom across their trees in the summer! Different shapes of trees are present and these extended up to the city walls even, bushes add a nice little accompaniment. The plants are large and a map helps navigate around everything, mini buildings add a pleasant feel to the greenery themselves!
K. P — Google review
Decent looked nice.It was relatively clean, but there was a couple unkept areas, and there wasn't enough benches or bins, and there was so little benches. We ended up having to sit on a small wall that had leftover cigarette buds and other rubbish stuffed in the corners. The view was pretty good and those nicole castle wall thing still relatively recommended if you're in the area
Elijah — Google review
If you are looking for nice peaceful place to walk then don’t look anywhere else and come here. Very well looked after place by the local council. Central and close to the city and comfortable to eat your lunch within. Have seen many people having their lunch and reading book. Young students were having their picnic in the summer. Lush green park with awesome colourful wild flowers. Castle ruins are just next door thing. There’s a lot of reasons to visit this garden so just do it.

The oldest public open space in England. Lovely park in the middle of the city, beside Exeter Central Station and near to High Street. Free to visit. Calm and peaceful place to read a book, relax, or spend time with yourself, with nature or with family. Beautiful in the autumn. Clean. Impressive war memorial in the center. The gardens incorporate a stretch of Roman wall and the only length of Saxon town wall to be seen in England.

Situated along the tranquil Exe Estuary, the reserve provides scenic views and opportunities to observe migrating and roosting marshland birds. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful retreat while connecting with nature in this beautiful wetland ecosystem.
This is a fabulous location for a quiet walk or cycle ride. Good paths which are very accessible. The nearest car parking is near the Lighter Inn on Topsham Quay. Lots of birds and wildlife to see at any time of the day. Well worth a visit.

This place is awesome, great for everyone. I could have left my husband there all day and the volunteer at The Hide was very knowledgeable. The binoculars available to use are a fantastic touch ensuring you get up close but from a distance. So glad we stumbled on this place. We will definitely be returning.
Kerry G — Google review
A lovely short walk from the train station to a tranquil well looked after wetland, where you can see lots of different birds. Well worth being a RSPB member and contributing to this, and many other, sanctuaries for beautiful birds.
Mia ( — Google review
Bowling Green marsh is situated on a circular walk from Topsham village. It is well worth calling in to the reserve to spend some time watching the wildlife.
Dave S — Google review
This is one of the best RSPB reserves in mid Devon, probably best to visit in the Winter months, visit on a weekend and the 'Lookout' side of the hide is open, with RSPB volunteers to help identify some birds to new birdwatchers, an added bonus is they sell tea/coffee and snacks. They usually have books for sail and there is usually a telescope to look through and they have binoculars to borrow (unfortunately some people think it's ok to steal binoculars - be aware CCTV is in use). On the back wall is a white board with recent sightings. A final note, if you open the windows in the hide please close them when you leave
Baz W — Google review
A great place to introduce children to bird watching and general interest in nature. There's a bird hide for pros and a separate relaxed area for children. A couple of sofas birds cards and a library. Its heated too. There's even some hot drinks and snacks on offer (probably weekends only).
Giles B — Google review
Great variety of bird species, people I've come across down there are always respectful and keen to point out a species. Short walk from where you can park (parking not always the easiest) but overall always a positive experience

Visited this rspb reserve last week while down in Devon for the week. The reserve is great with some great birds and wildlife. The hide is nice and big but can get busy at times as I think there's a few walks that go past the place . But had a lovely time there another great rspb reserve top work

Great park for under 12’s and lots of area for dog walking too (please clean up after your dog) Beautiful place!

We’ve come here a couple of times for baseball games. It’s a huge park with the most wonderful trees! It has public toilets, a (small) car park and a large, fenced, children’s play area. I haven’t explored as far as I’d like to yet but I am looking forward to being able to wander off and discover more peace and quiet and more trees! The Exeter Spitfires baseball team play and practice here. Look them up on fb to see when you can come and watch a game.

There is a stream running through the middle under the trees so if you have a dog that loves to jump in, be warned it's usually more mud than water. Apart from that great place to walk a dog. Not completely closed in and dogs can get out through the access roads otherwise flat and open, perfect for a mad run-around.
Kerse D — Google review
Lovely little park and field area, lots for kids to do. No toilets tho that i could find which is a bit silly really when its so out the way of everything. Disability swings for wheelchairs

Belle Isle Park is a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape for those looking to unwind and enjoy nature. Nestled alongside the picturesque River Exe, this serene park is perfect for leisurely picnics or simply soaking in the sights and sounds of the outdoors. While it lacks play equipment, its charm lies in its peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching—keep your eyes peeled for herons, cormorants, swallows, and even elusive woodpeckers.
We love coming here just to see the beautiful Tabby cat. Lovely and peaceful. No dogs allowed in this park. It's posted both entrances.

Nice well maintained park with plenty of family facilties. Children's play area enclosed, popular and well maintained. Wooded area surrounds a lake.

Great surrounding location for dog walking, but not in the park itself, I don't think that you allowed to do anything in this park at all. In fact locally I have heard tell that it is known as the 'no no' park as the signs show so many prohibited activities :). But it is a beautiful area.

This is a quiet park, supposedly dog free (although I have nearly stepped in the evidence to the contrary) and a great place to practice yoga, excercise or relax with a book near the river.

Beautiful place winter or summer. Excellent for dog walkers or bike riders. Great if you just want to take in the lovely surroundings.

Really beautiful countryside, lots of cyclists, runners, and dog walkers all sharing the space responsibly. Although quite busy on a lovely Saturday morning in spring, it still felt peaceful and at times secluded. Met some lovely people walking their dogs (as I was doing) and had some really friendly chats.
Rachel M — Google review
Pros. Beautiful place for a walk, kayak, paddleboard, lovely pubs to est and drinks at either end. Train station close by, bus is a short walking distance from the bus stop. Cons. Parking is limited. Very narrow bridge to drive across No public toilets or changing area. Not enough dog poo or normal bins

Just what I needed. As soon as I walked through that gate two lovely ladies said "Good morning!", and meant it. I tried to match their smiles and reply in kind, but it wasn't as good and heartfelt as theirs. I haven't had such a marvellous walk in months. I shall return, hopefully soon!

Nice play park, lovely grassy area and a great splash park. Toilets left a little to be desired but at least it had some! If it had a car park it would be amazing 😁 A little treasure hidden away for locals to enjoy.

Wow, what a time we had on this marvellous day! Doing our good old colouring, making friends - what more could you ask for!? From the bottom of my heart, I could NOT fault this glorious pleasure ground :) We had just had some lunch and an ice cream by the Quay and were looking forward to a good old sit down. We found a short-cut to the park, found the perfect tree and sat ourselves down on the grass to do some art. Some children came over to tell us how good we were at staying in the lines! To be fair, we are pretty good at staying in the lines - let's be real here! Overall, there was just a really nice energy at the park. It felt safe. There was a real sense of community. We most certainly will be returning.

Historical landmark
Pinces Gardens, located in the southwest of Exeter, was once the site of William Lucombe's nursery established in 1720. The garden is renowned for its stunning 45-yard wisteria tunnel that draws numerous visitors during spring. It offers picturesque paths through sculpted bushes and a variety of flowers. Additionally, the park features football pitches, tennis courts, a play area for children, and a small cafe/takeaway.
We had a very pleasant visit to Pinces Gardens yesterday. The weather helped as we had a lovely sunny morning and the Wysteria tunnel was in blossom. The bowls and croquet lawns and club houses took you back to a bygone place. The coffee shop was very handy and the history board explained how the park came about.

Beautifully laid out gardens for a nice walk whatever the weather. Fantastic range of food and drink options for a little cafe - The Bird House. A few seats inside and outside, but plenty of park land to side in and enjoy too.

Managed by Devon Wildlife Trust, this green space features wooded trails, open meadows, cherry orchards, and stunning vistas from Pynes Hill. It's an ideal destination to escape urban hustle and connect with nature.
Great place for dog walking. Lovely views and flora and fauna. Benches for quick breaks. There are often cows so be ready to put dogs on leads. I've never seen sheep there which is good. Dog waste bins available and plenty of parking on the roads.

It doesn't have a lot to offer than countryside and is in Exeter. A a bit of nature on Exeters doorstep. Good to get away from the hustle and bustle.
Neil G — Google review
Stunning park and nature reserve not even a few miles outside the city centre. Plenty of rolling hills and fields to enjoy and a great place to walk the dog. Cattle are in some of the fields for some of the year so always worth checking. Really well managed by Devon Wildlife Trust.
John S — Google review
It's a lovely park, with access both from the Rifford Road side and from Pynes Hill. These photos are from the Rifford Rd/Chestnut avenue side. The fields are enclosed by hedges and cow gates, and the hills are often rather steep, so not suitable for wheelchairs nor probably for people that tire quickly. But definitely good for flying a kite. Less recommended in the wet season as the ground can become boggy, particularly where the cows have been. In the right season there are blackberries along the edges. We saw a couple of robins and three peacock butterflies today.

The fields are not just about skating; they offer ample green space where families can enjoy various activities like football, ultimate frisbee, rugby, yoga, and even slack-lining.
Very nice intercity park. Lots of green open space alongside the river. Good paths if you're on a bike. Nice Skate park and playing fields. Downside. Plenty of litter and graffiti. People with drink problems. Lots of dog walkers.
John — Google review
Lots of open space. Great for kids and dogs. It's a good recreational space for many activities. Often I see people playing football, ultimate frisbee, and rugby. There are occasionally people slack-lining, practicing yoga, thai chi (or some other martial art). I've even seen people practicing their golf swing. There are always runners and cyclists on the paths, and there is a skate park at one end. It can be quite busy in the summer time. There is no car park for this playing field, and people would be better to try parking at Exwick Playing Field and walking to Flowerpots.
James M — Google review
Nice vibrant playing fields near the exe, skate park, rugby/football field and lots of room to walk the dog. Only downside is the benches and skate park are a little dilapidated and the trains nearby from the stations are of course rather frequent but that's neither here nor there in this nice peice of urban greenery

Strawberry Q — Google review
A lovely place along the river and flood relief channel for strolling, cycling or just lying on the grass and relaxing. One of the best parts of Exeter in my opinion. I remember it as a kid when the whole area was a completely wild wasteland and we use to play there and fish in a stream every summer and catch newts, sticklebacks, minnows, tadpoles, etc. Sad all that has now gone forever and is just a memory.

Duryard Valley Park is a serene retreat with stunning views of the university, fields, and forests. It offers a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation, featuring four benches and a free car park. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking sunsets and stargazing at night. However, it's important to note that due to the widespread presence of ash dieback disease in the UK, tree felling may occur during winter months, leading to temporary path diversions and closures for safety reasons.
Great place where to unwind and just relax. 4 separate benches available, free carpark. Overseeing university, fields and forests.
Stan — Google review
Duryard is not a valley park, it is a field, a very hilly field, make sure to not let dogs off lead in the section by the carpark as you have to walk back past the entrance to the very busy road to get into the "park". Be very careful not to twist an ankle if you venture into the field. Not good for a decent dog walk. Will try Belvedere if I can find the car park that isn't in maps.

Northbrook Approach Golf Course is a local par 3 pitch and putt course featuring 18 holes. While the selection of clubs available for borrowing may be limited, the friendly staff and reasonable pricing make it a worthwhile visit. The course offers interesting holes with streams, but keep in mind that some greens may not be in optimal condition and the area can get waterlogged after rainfall. Additionally, during certain times, such as when flood defences are being installed, some holes may be unavailable.
A par 3 pitch and putt approach golf course. 18 holes. Not a bad little local course. They have some clubs to borrow, but not the best, or the widest selection. Sells a small amount of snacks, drinks and ice creams.
Ian J — Google review
The area is really nice, beautiful scenery and a lovely area to soak in and enjoy. Unfortunately the way the holes are marked is really confusing and at one point, it advises that hole 8 and 18 are the same and has an arrow pointing where to go, but the arrow is pointing in the complete opposite direction of where you're actually supposed to go. We also had a dog chasing our balls at one point so that's something to bear in mind. Summary: Go for the views, not for the golf.
Dave P — Google review
Good value pitch and putt with interesting holes over the streams. Greens sometimes not in the best condition and the course can get waterlogged after rain.
Ewan M — Google review
Advertising as a 9 hole footgolf course but only have 7? No noticeable layout for the footgolf course! Golfers don’t notice that there are footgolf players on the course ahead of them and just play every when a player is in hitting range l? I found it a MAJOR let down from what I was expecting! Please go try for yourself!
Tom B — Google review
Building site running through the middle of the pitch and put that means some holes are unavailable, I expect this is only temporary but still had to pay full price for not full experience. No '19th hole' to speak of as only a small drinks fridge and ice cream freezer.
Charles — Google review
Nice friendly staff, and fairly good price. During our visit there were flood defences being put in place so 3 or 4 holes were out of commission. This is obviously not the case usually

The place is beautiful with great views on Topsham. Unfortunately the victorian cottage is closed and completely locked down. It is supposed to be restored but currently it's in need of some repairs. The cottage was originally built for the lock keepers around 1800 and it was handed back to Exeter City Council in 2020. There are plans for the place to reopen as a Café but so far nothing has happened. Once restored this will be a lovely place to sit and have a Coffee. The children usually jump off the little bridge which is nearby in the summer.

Very good prices! Friendly staff and so much choice. Love all the deals. Appreciated the dog friendliness too! Will be back for sure. This has to be the best and cheapest place for plants. Never seen to many bedding plants all kept in poly tunnels. Such good quality as well. Well looked after and watered regularly. Bought enough to fill 4 hanging baskets and numerous pots. If my only negative comment was it would be the checkout procedure. I had 36 pots of individual plants for a set amount all the same. I was told I had to take out every plant pot and put them on the belt. I had several trays of bedding plants all the same was told they all had to be put on the belt, rather annoying when i had just packed them in the trolley so perfectly. Also bought bird seed, lilly of the valley and potting compost. Plus they have a toilet. Went again in 2023. Amazing plants

Always great stock levels that follow the seasons. Very good prices - the best around Exeter! We buy all our garden equipment from here for both our allotment and garden. Absolutely brilliant experience today, found everything I wanted and in the pouring rain nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and professional staff, I encountered (particularly Tom). All questions answered and products/plants found and the service was exceptional 😊

This is by far and away the best garden centre in East Devon. The range, price, and quality are unmatched. The facility for raising young plants that they have enables them to supply healthy and well-advanced stock.

If you are looking for an outdoor activity to do with your kids in Devon, Wildwood Escot is a great choice. The animals there are fascinating and the outside adventure play area is a lot of fun.
It was great to see a variety of their animals. Have been here once before , but the first time we came , we couldn't see a lot of them pop from the wolves. It was great to see the bears. The New soft play is great. Food is a bog standard , but to a high quality.

We had a lovely visit, spent about 4 hours including a stop for lunch. The cafe was reasonably priced. Sadly, we didn't get to see the Red Squirrels, which was a shame as one was adopted for me. There were a couple of other things that it was too early to see which was totally understandable. We stopped and toasted marshmallows at the Saxon Village, some nice looking activities there for younger visitors. The talks about the bears and the wolves were light but still informative. All the staff were very nice. Our family group ranged from teenagers to 20s and 50s. All had a good time.

Best experience Went to Wildwood park in Devon 14/09/25 for bear experience. The front of house staff member Geraldine, needs training on customer service or moved to another position. I asked for the toilets she said not open until 10am but my session started at 09:30am! I requested a map of park, her answer was we haven’t any as we are a charity you know! Not good service when I’ve spent £300:00 for experience with bears. The keepers Hannah & Amy were far better mannered & informative. It was them & the animals that changed the day. The cafe when finally opened, wasn’t the greatest. At best, the sausage roll was warm & the coffee wet. If a bit more thought & effort was put in (it wouldn’t cost a a lot) would make the park a lot more money & better reviews. Very sad as the park has a lot of potential in the right hands.

We have been to the local Wildwoods in Kent as members many times, so decided to visit the Devon site. We were not disappointed. I was also interested to see they have built a Red Squirrel section which allowed us to watch them chasing each other up and around the trees. Would definitely recommend a visit.

A rather wet day .. but.... We saw most of what was there. Love the wolves and bears. I am 70 and for any walking at length I use a 4 wheeled walker. Pathways are rustic but manageable. Good signage and layout. The Saxon village was good with a very informative man showing and explaining to children the Saxon way of life. We took a picnic, plenty of seating and tables but Not enough indoor ones for when it rains like on our visit.!

A great little gem. First time we have been and it was very good. Nice to see the animals close up and all in a nice setting. Be warned tho, the maze is bloody hard. We gave up after nearly an hour of trying to find the middle. Reason for not being 5 star was in the viking village the children did marshmallow toasting. Unknown to us was you had to pay for this. OK it was only 50p a child but no sign up saying you had to pay. Felt this was a bit naughty and miss leading. Otherwise a great day and will be back.

Even though it poured with rain most of the time we had a laugh! The tree canopy helped when looking for the wolves, we found them lazing in the dry, out in the open, looking relaxed in their own domain. The boars ran for shelter. We came to see the bears that got out to find the honey. One of the keepers told us all about them and was very informative and interesting to listen to. All the animals were in very large natural spaces, they had lots of room to move and hide, which was good to see. The cafe was good as well. All in all a very good day out.

Last day of our holiday we wanted to do something. Wasn't too sure what. Decided to go here, £15 per person entry seemed very reasonable, spent a good few hours here. Saw 90% of it, some animals didn't wanna show themselves! We had an amazing time! Sadly the otter enclosure was still on map but clearly closed, but not fenced off. Hopefully they reopen that soon! The maze was good fun, most people seem to be climbing through the hedge to cheat to the Finnish, took us a while but we found the way in the end! Wasn't sign posted the best before arrival, I would say that's an area for improvement, that and information on the bears from the field side. In a few years id definatly go back, and I would definatly recommend this to a friend!

Stopped by today to check out the Aquatics section. Staff were great, lovely to talk to. All the tanks were immaculate and livestock looked healthy. Nice selection of dry goods, was particularly pleased to find some marine stock as it's getting hard to come by locally. Picked up a couple of bits today and I'm sure I'll be back for more.

I would like to take a moment to commend Richard from the Aquatics Center at St. Bridget Nurseries for his exceptional customer service and enthusiasm during my recent visit. From the moment I arrived, Richard was welcoming, approachable, and clearly passionate about his work. He listened carefully to my questions and concerns about my aquarium and went above and beyond to ensure I received the best advice and support possible. His extensive knowledge of aquatic life, equipment, and aquarium maintenance was incredibly helpful, and he took the time to explain everything in a clear and engaging way. Not only did he offer practical solutions tailored to my setup, but his enthusiasm made the experience enjoyable and left me feeling confident and inspired to care for my aquarium. It's rare to come across someone so genuinely invested in both their work and in helping others. Richard is a true asset to the team at St. Bridget Nurseries, and I wanted to make sure his outstanding service and positive attitude are recognized. Thank you again to Richard for making my visit such a positive one!

Lovely place to go for a drink, it's a small garden center. I take my grandad there to the cafe usually on a Sunday. Everytime we have been they have been short staffed and only had cakes on, not proper lunches which has sometimes been disappointing. But we have enjoyed our time when we have been none the less.
Emma C — Google review
We were really let down by this place. Ended up paying £19 for just two small sandwiches and some underwhelming hot chocolates. We later found out there was a £16 meal deal with crisps included—but only if you specifically ask for it. It’s frustrating that you get less food and pay more unless you know to ask. Why wouldn’t they just assume customers want the better value? It feels deliberately confusing. Definitely not rushing back Terrible Customer service! AVOID
Jms A — Google review
Went to the cafe. The elder staff were very good and worked like trojans, the younger pair on the till were sullen and disinterested. What a shame, seemed like they really didn't want to be there. Go and be miserable somewhere else then!
Mick P — Google review
Rude and abrasive management that made it very clear that getting people and money through the tills was more important to them than customer service. As a local and a regular customer I will be taking my business elsewhere, the drive to Otter Nursery is well worth it for a more pleasant experience!
Celia S — Google review
Great nursery, brilliant plants and very good range, some quite unusual ones from the usual generic "nursery" plants for reasonable prices. Nice cafe and friendly birds! Dunnocks I think or maybe Robin? Anyway whatever it was landed on my head. Nice staff, lots of parking and trolleys.
R R — Google review
Very nice and clean, plenty of parking, almost all varieties of plants and trees, in addition to that aquariums and fish varieties.

Hamlin Lane Playing Fields is a lovely park with a big grass field, perfect for kids of all ages. It features a purpose-built cycle training area with road safety elements like roundabouts and zebra crossings, as well as a BMX track for older children. The park also has four football pitches and a children's playground, making it an ideal spot for family outings. While there are no toilets on site, parking is available at both entrances.
Amazing park with plenty of space to get up to anything for kids… bike pad is fantastic for helping little ones learn the rules of the road and get more confident.
Aaron S — Google review
It could do with a bit of T.L.C. The entrance to the car park is full of pot holes that need filling in or fully resurfacing. The play park itself could do with a good deep clean as there is a lot of inappropriate graffiti on pretty much everything. It's clear to see that the council has made an effort to make the park itself. But just leaving it to wrack and ruin ruin.
Clapper S — Google review
This park is amazing has a place for kids and a lovely creek and fields and Coll bike mounds but I don’t like when all the camper-van people come with there horses every year and ruin it
Oliver — Google review
Great place for my daughter to ride her bike as they have a big car mat for cycling, scooter, roller blades or roller boots or any other ride along that children like to ride on. There are 4 football pitches, then to childrens park. Great entertainment for my daughter. No toilets though. Parking available at either end of park entrances.
Kirsty M — Google review
A large open space within Exeter, mostly dedicated to football pitches. A small play area with equipment, slides, swings climbing frame and roundabout suitable for younger children. It is tired, old and not well maintained which is a shame as it is well located to serve many. There is a small river with access which kids enjoy to play by. Also a very impressive but basic BMX track with jumps. Lot of potential but sadly unloved. Good for dog walkers though.
Jason K — Google review
Great place for kids, dogs and interval runs.
Lucie C — Google review
First time visiting this place when I went on a family trip to Exeter. It has the potential to be a great park for kids and family. But unfortunately at the time of my visit, there was tons of rubbish scattered around and horse manure. (Apparently there were travellers that just left the place, and they vandalised it) some parts of the kids playground were broken too.
Sarah V — Google review
Went with my little girl so she could practice riding her bike. It was okay, the facilities are what you expect for a council run park. To be fair, it was pretty clean and didn't encounter any dog mess that hadn't been picked up.
