The high-ceiling space creates a moody atmosphere perfect for party-goers looking to turn up the volume on their night out. With its modern interior and large glass windows, guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the city both day and night. The bar hosts fantastic DJs for after-work gatherings and exclusive party nights, attracting a mix of local and international clientele.
Amazing service! We were attended by a guy with a shaved head and what a quality service we received, an attentive, collaborative and friendly person. The bar has a wonderful view!
Gregory C — Google review
Amazing view! Perfect for sunset. We have to book a table in advance if you want to go there, it’s highly suggested… Cocktails are really great! Snacking food also. You pay for the view.
Adeline B — Google review
I had a very unpleasant experience at this bar. I came to celebrate my birthday and paid a 20-franc entrance fee, but was quickly disappointed. I was not aware that using an electronic cigarette was prohibited inside the venue, and I was not informed of this by any staff member. Instead of receiving a polite warning, I was immediately and without explanation escorted out of the bar by security. The entire situation was extremely uncomfortable and humiliating—especially as a woman, I felt deeply embarrassed. Had I been properly informed, I would have respected the rules without any issue. However, this kind of treatment felt inappropriate and unprofessional!!
Mallsey — Google review
Really bad experience , the waiter treat you as they want , and every time I was ordering the same drink they charge me different price!! So I don’t understand if they decide how much to charge or if there is a price table and the drink was not good and it was a basic cocktail , and whey I ask they say that’s they price I have to pay no matter what and they don’t even use individual tonic for the drinks they use a 1l plastic bottle tonic ….. don’t think I’m going back ( first drink I payed 16 CHF second drink 17.5 CHF and then 18 CHF ( I repeat it was the same drink always )

I want to complain about ur service and recommend to be more careful with a special type of clients like I am. Situation was like that: On 28.06 i invited my friends with me and booked ur table at name Anna Eleonora Herman. Not cheap right? I usually don't sit somewhere on the bar and dont drink ur cheap cocktails. I usually pay nicely and order whiskey, fruits and another food so I did for u a very good income until yesterday! My friends are in the shock and my friend lawyer really recommended me to open the case in police at you. I am still thinking because really you can get a very big troubles and to lose ur reputation forever in a small city like Basel! First of all : you don't have a good ventilation in ur bar and without a good AC and a lot of people you start to be drunk faster than usually. So what happened with me yesterday. It is have never happened before by the way. I was waiting for my friends untill they will finish to dance because we should come back at home by car together. And because of your bad ventilation I started to fallen asleep. 2 securities came to me and even didn't wake me up normally they took me together and just kicked out on the street. I had diamonds on my left hand very expensive and my look also is not cheap so everyone could create the troubles for me outside. Security just kicked me out like some cheap escort girls, really? May be need to think for who it is ok and for who is not right to do like that? They even didn't ask me: lady, how we can help you? May be u feel bad and we can help you to get some taxi? I was in the big shock honestly! My friends started to find me. Only one normal security his name Stas came to my friends and told pls go to Anna , they kicked out her on the street. And of course my friends came to me to pick up me to the car. So what I want to say your service is really shit. I will not come back to u never and forget about income from side. Also my friends will not come to you anymore. Better we will go to Five hotel in Zurich. At least they respect their clients from who they have income. Also I booked the table I paid you nicely and waitress already should run to me and ask what I would like to drink with my friends or something to eat? Only one good waitress is Oksana who really is doing her work very well. I am thankful to her for everything. Also ur WhatsApp doesn't work. When I call ur phone also doesn't work. If I will do how my lawyer recommends me you will pay me compensation for what your security did for me yesterday at least 5k minimum. Be careful with ur clients. Not everyone in ur bar is escort and cheap girl who u can kick out like homeless cat. For ur apologies u have 12 h. In worse case I really will open the case at you.

Superbe place . Nice view , nice music. Need to work on quality of the cocktails. Shame as we did have a great time.

Amazing place to chill out with friends, on the 31st floor hence you get this beautiful view of Basel which is breathtaking. Slightly heavy on the pocket (Swiss standard) but the vibe is nice 👌 quite spacious so going with a group of friends would be recommended, as by night You don’t get lounges/ seats as they sell their seats to people/groups who buy the whole bottle which are usually 250chf and above 🤗

Brasserie, Bar und Event Volkshaus Basel is a historic building dating back to the 14th century that has been transformed into a popular cultural and dining destination. The venue underwent a major refurbishment by renowned local architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, resulting in an eclectic mix of furnishings and modern design elements. The bar offers a diverse menu featuring high-quality Swiss, French, and Spanish wines, beer from a nearby microbrewery, and tapas snacks.
We stayed an entire week for business at the hotel. It was a very busy week because the Eurovision Song Contest had landed in town. Staff created a home away from home. Very centrally located, with a nice courtyard and a great restaurant.
Jean T — Google review
Quite good service initially but food a big let down. Steak (frites) was so tough as to be inedible. Waiter who cleared away plates didn’t enquire how our meals were but was happy to ask if to wanted to add a tip. Another colleague started to set up the breakfast tables beside us not halfway through our meal (20.15 reservation)
Drum M — Google review
My friend and I stayed here - we found the studio room to feel spacious and modern. I particularly loved the dark green colour scheme throughout the hotel. The shower and toilet were separate, and I liked the concept of drawing curtains around the bathroom area after stepping out of the shower for privacy. The hotel is located very conveniently near the historic Mittlere Brücke (bridge) and the Claraplatz tram station, where the No.8 tram can take you to Basel's main train station (e.g. to then get to the airport) and also into Germany, Weil am Rhein! Coop and Migros are also nearby for food shopping. Each floor has a water, tea, and fruit station, which was great. The downside was our room didn't have a mini fridge, so we weren't able to keep any drinks or food that required refrigeration. Additionally, the table in our room also only had one chair (and a lower reclining chair in the corner) so we weren't able to sit at the table together.
Joyce T — Google review
We were at the bar. The cocktails were delicious and service friendly but the loaded fries were terrible. Cheep truffle aroma and congealed Parmesan on top of what would have been decent fries.
The W — Google review
Went there for a business dinner and apero. It was a lovely setting with very good food and service. It is well located and 1 min walk from the tram. I am not sure about the price but I assume on the high end of a Swiss restaurant
Jessica S — Google review
We stopped for dinner in their beautiful courtyard in the evening. We were seated quickly and service was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. We all had steak frites. It certainly isn't cheap but then I guess it is in Switzerland!
Richard J — Google review
Beautiful hotel with a very nice courthouse to eat outside. There aren’t many food options, but what they have is very good!
Camila S — Google review
Great vibe, quirky hotel, delicious drinks. Kim was amazing in the bar and very informative about the local produce from the area. Rooms were very clean and tidy and local area was nearby with lots of interesting attractions - entertainment, food, bars and a barber all within 5 minutes

Function room facility
Bottmingen Castle, dating back to the 13th century, is a rare gem in Switzerland and a must-visit for castle enthusiasts. Surrounded by water and parkland, it houses the renowned Restaurant Schloss Bottmingen. The dining experience is highly praised, with exceptional food and friendly service. While the atmosphere may lack some charm, the attentive staff and elaborate surprise menu make it a worthwhile visit. Dining inside this historic castle adds an extra layer of allure to the overall experience.
Great dinner at the new brasserie. The fine dining menu is in another league, however. I much prefer it, as the new brasserie takes away from that high-end experience (white tablecloth atmosphere and neatness of fine dining). We were quite a large group and were not informed about that we'd be at the à la carte brasserie, expecting the Gourmet restaurant instead. We had a great time anyhow.
Leandro ( — Google review
A wonderful restaurant situated in the picturesque Bottmingen Castle. The food was well presented, tasty and introduced by our waiter before each course, so that we knew what to expect! :) The staff were lovely. Very attentive without being intrusive. My friends and I were treated well and I can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Tom W — Google review
Amazing place! ❤️❤️❤️ The service was fantastic; friendly, fast, and cool 😎 👌 I loved the food and the vibe 😍
Oli S — Google review
We had a great dining experience, which is, to our current knowledge, a rather rare joy in Switzerland. Here not only the food met expectations, but the professional and friendly service as well. Among all, the beef was heavenly and some great wine we discovered, thanks for the information from the waiter. If anything, then the petite fours coming with the coffee were less satisfactory, but that took nothing from the value of the lovely evening.
Farkas R — Google review
Great atmosphere and food! Absolutely worth the visit. One of the best beef tartar I ever had.
Iva M — Google review
Michelin starred restaurant just outside Basel, located in a castle. It adds some charm to your visit, and while the service won’t disappoint, the atmosphere is a bit flat. Nothing extraordinary. The staff is very attentive and deserves a recognition. You can go for the surprise menu which is quite elaborate in composition, and well balanced. The menu is adapted regularly on the season. It’s definitely worth visiting.
Alexandru I — Google review
A very beautiful place ruined by bad service. First when I walked in a server greeted me and told me I can sit wherever I want, so I selected a table by the pond only to be told by another that if I’m not eating & only having drinks then I’m limited to certain tables. I was provided a German menu which I don’t can’t read and the server walked away & never came back for 15 mins while attending to all the other tables who obviously spoke the language. Not a tourist friendly place!
Amr M — Google review
We had such an incredible experience. We chose the 5 course menu and it was a delightful journey of flavors. The service was great, we had a very friendly waiter. And what can I say about the setting? Dining inside a castle cannot be topped!

The Theater Basel is a family-friendly venue that offers a variety of entertainment options for both kids and adults. It hosts children's shows, outdoor theater events, and workshops. The theater's unique architecture includes a cafe on the top floor and an auditorium that seamlessly flows into the stage area without barriers. Visitors can enjoy watching rehearsals while kids play freely around the building.
Really great! So wonderful performance. Every detail is working for some purpose. Totally recommend to visit. Usually the prices are 30-145 CHF, but I think you can find cheaper with coupon or something.
Svitlana O — Google review
I adore the openness of the theater hall. The last time I had a similar feeling was in Oslo. If you like the open air, you can sit next to the Tinguely Fountain. It's a complex with different stages and I watched 1984 in the Schauspielhaus. So you can check the stage name in advance but no need to worry as everything is close. The ballet will change artistic direction next season, so there will be more ballets than physical theaters/performances. Check the program and see if you can find something you like.
Hahparis — Google review
Very good theater, interesting space, good organisation… Except it was not clear that there are two separate buildings with entries 5min away one from another. We asked the personal to verify that we were at the right place, but due to some misunderstanding we almost lost the start of the performance although being in the theatre one hour in advance. It is noticeable that there are tensions among the artistic personal and the administration and it is currently undergoing a change of direction. Looking forward to come back and see some other excellent pieces!

The building itself looks great. The productions are usually horrible

It's an ideal spot to unwind by the river, enjoy the sunset, and savor some simple yet delightful meals while basking in the warm weather.

Club 59, situated in the heart of Basel, has been a prominent part of the city's nightlife since its establishment in 1959. It successfully maintains its traditional roots while incorporating modern concepts. This versatile venue functions as a bar, lounge, and club all at once, making it an ideal spot for unwinding with a diverse drink selection or dancing to local DJs' 80s and 90s tunes.
Anna is the best bartender I have ever met , full of energy and always smiling . She makes amazing cocktails . Apart from her bar tending skills she is the most energetic person I have met . So visit this place for her guys !
Punam C — Google review
We (4 people) came in 20m before closing, there was almost nobody else at the bar, so we weren’t taking up any needed space, but they didn’t let only one of us have a drink. The Virgin Moscow Mule was really good (not that you can do anything wrong with it). My friend got a nosebleed shortly after and the guy got angry at her for having said nosebleed and kicked us out because he didn’t wanna be responsible for it. His arguments speak for themselves : „What if someone drinks from her glass?“ „What are other people gonna think?“ „What’s the police gonna think when they inevitably get called?“ „I don’t wanna spend hours in the police station. Or the emergency room!“ „I don’t wanna have to DO FIRST AID, what a hassle, go have your emergency somewhere else“
Moritz — Google review
I took an amaretto sour which was pretty good (maybe a little bit too sweet) and my BF took a NY sour which was bad (first the bartender didn't know what's in this cocktail and secondly they didn't have any white eggs anymore (in a cocktail bar!)).
Jenny W — Google review
A brilliant little bar - Anna was a fantastic server who made us feel very welcome. Despite working on her own, everything arrived very quickly and she was really attentive. Reasonable prices for quite an expensive city. The panini we had was unexpectedly delicious, and the nuts were on the house!! Definitely recommend!
Sophie — Google review
We arrived here and tried to sit at the bar. The barman (in his mid 50s with some tattoos and grey hair) told us to move to the end of the bar because we would be in the way of him making cocktails (that's a pretty weird way to welcome people). I then ordered a margarita while my girlfriend decided on what she would like. He didn't make it. Instead he did some other things around the bar and then sat with some people who seemed to be his friends on a table. Nearly 10 minutes had passed and I mentioned to someone doing the glasses if he could get us some drinks. He was so nice and really apologetic. But I'm afraid the damage was done. This guy really needs to learn how to offer people good service or his bar will just go downhill with reviews like this. Poor.

its okay :) just a bar at a busy main street and the waiters were both nice. but as usually, things turn out to be pretty expensive like a beer 11 CHF.

I and my sister arrived in Basel on Sunday when pretty much everything is closed so we decided to check out ”Club 59” and I would say - we will definitely be back! Staff was amazing and extremely welcoming. Would like to point out 2 girls - Jennifer - who made us come back on the next day and Daria- who made us want to stay in there for several hours 😄 and introduced us with the best snacks and drinks! We left ”Club 59” with the best experience possible. It's really rare to find such friendly and helpful staff in Switzerland. Btw on quiet day like Sunday - ”Club 59” would be quite a good place to be. I recommend this place 100%

Bar Les Trois Rois, located in the luxurious Les Trois Rois hotel on the banks of the Rhine, offers a refined setting for wine and cocktail enthusiasts. The bar boasts an extensive selection of Swiss wines from local wineries, including biodynamic options like KLUS177 and Weingut Riehen. Guests can savor indigenous grape varieties such as Rauschling and Petite Arvine while relaxing on leather sofas or enjoying the terrace with river views.
I recently celebrated my birthday there, and I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the wonderful experience they provided. The day started with a bit of chaos due to the unexpected heavy snowfall, which forced me to cancel many of my original birthday plans. I even arrived a little late because of the weather, but from the moment I stepped in, the team there made me feel at ease. The atmosphere was warm and beautifully decorated, setting the perfect scene for a special evening. The pianist was there and played beautifully throughout the evening, blending classical and modern pieces seamlessly. As a special touch, he even played Happy Birthday for me, which made the moment even more magical. And the birthday dessert—absolutely delicious! It was the perfect highlight of my birthday, and I could tell it was made with thoughtfulness and care. I’m incredibly thankful for the amazing hospitality and the effort. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for making my birthday so special!

Still one of our go to places to celebrate in Basel. Never had a bad meal. Bonus is that in the summer their air-conditioning is one of the best I have experienced in Basel. For those with babies the changing facilities are excellent and they even have emergency nappies.

Wonderful place for Asian fusion food in Basel. Came here with a colleague for dinner and was pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. We had the gyoza and shrimp for starters, the risotto and salmon for mains and the chocolate fondant for dessert. Everything was great and would recommend this place if you want a switch from Italian and Swiss good.

Sushi was good, good variety, well served and tasty. The dessert at 16.5 chf feels overpriced even when compared to the rest of the menu Staff is friendly and service was above average I will return here

I am amazed by this incredible restaurant. It is by far the best sushi and saki I have ever had! Kimihide Ishiguro is a sushi master, and he was able to craft specialty custom-made sushi for me per request. This made it possible for me to enjoy the sushi here for my birthday, as I am gluten free and vegan and typically have a hard time finding a place to appreciate sushi. I am so impressed, and thankful to have this wonderful place in Basel, Switzerland to enjoy the best sushi in the world!

Good food! The Singapore chicken and Red Thai Prawn curry is excellent! Updated Jan 2024: Came back here for our group dinner. Service standards have improved greatly. Our orders came very quickly this time, and the food is still as good.
Gilbert C — Google review
We went there excited seeing the positive reviews on google, hoping for very good and authentic asian food, unfortunately our overall experience was not recommandable and we wouldn't come back. We took 2 starters that we shared, the Tom kha soup and the Papaya salad, which were presented well and were pretty good even though they were pretty expensive for just starters. Our big deception came from the main dishes, we had 2x Soba noodles with Duck, 1x Soba noodles vegeterian and 1x Fried rice with chicken. They were presented in warmed and very nice plates so presentation was very nice, however the most important is how the food tastes and the price. The soba noodles sauce was too sweet with barely any veggies, the duck was dry and served in big chunks which didn't make it enjoyable. The fried rice had a good woke hay but that's about it, barely any veggies or variation. And when you consider prices of 44 CHF for one of those it is way overpriced. With such high prices we expected way more authenticity and quality. The service was also relatively slow, and not the most professional or welcoming. On top of that all 4 of us had bad stomach issues later that night and the next day, really disappointing considering the excessive price we paid (280 CHF for 4 persons) to get stomach pain and well presented average asian food. P.S. The Yuzu Sour cocktail for 19 CHF was also not worth it, it is quite small and just not up to standard.

Its supposed to be one of the best Sushi places in Basel. Well in short, its NOT. Has Asian dishes, Sushi/Sashimi, limited selections, no music, almost empty despite them stating a reservation is required. But nevertheless, the food was fulfilling. I had reviewed the reviews and opted for the sushi tower which was almost satisfactory. Some items were Toooo salty though. Edamame received cold. Udon with beef strips was delish to be honest but heavy and felt with gravy. Couldnt finish my plate but still managed. All in all expect to drop a couple of hundred francs for food (with no alcohol).😳😳

Loved this amazing international indoor food market!! So many different options - Thai, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, Israeli, Italian, Lebanese, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals from Taste of Jerusalem and Vietnamese and would definitely return to this gem in the heart of Basel.

Fantastic late meal at Flavours of Jerusalem was delicious all fresh food and freshly cooked, an amazing blend of flavors. . Best lamb cutlets I've ever had and I'm from the UK! Delicious home made lemon drink to go with it.

We had such a great lunch here! Tried the zucchini pasta with burrata and it was absolutely delicious – fresh, perfectly balanced flavors and really well made. The atmosphere in the Markthalle is relaxed but lively, and service was quick and friendly. Definitely a spot I’d come back to for authentic, simple but elevated Italian food. 🍝✨

Paddy Reilly's is a warm and inviting Irish pub that offers a mix of traditional charm and modern amenities. It's known for its hearty pub grub, draft beer, and live soccer matches on TV. In Ireland, the pub is more than just a place to drink; it's the heart of the community where people gather to relax and socialize. The Basel location offers a lively atmosphere seven nights a week.
Lovely Pub in Basel. I love the Atmosphere and the Staff is also great. I came to watch the champions league with some lads and reserved a table with out a problem. The food we ordered was excellent and I can recommend the Nachos. The beer price is relatively high though. But I think its worth it to spend some time with the lads here and to enjoy a few pints.
Philwar _ — Google review
I think it's a total rip off paying 28 Swiss Francs for a beef burger and salad and chips that's around £26:44p in Northern Ireland terrible value for a Irish man like myself visiting a Irish pub restaurant in Switzerland on holiday never again. Just paid £11 for fish and chips in London City great value and wonderful presentation
Stephen C — Google review
Just here on the way to our hotel during a warm afternoon so it was quiet. The waitress said she was from Basel but had an authentic Irish accent. I was impressed. Even my Irish mother (RIP) would have asked her "What part of Dublin do you come from?" We had a tasty snack & non-alcoholic drink which was lovely. It was a bit dear compared with prices in Melbourne, Australia...but hey, I think that's the same for anywhere in Switzerland (The overhead costsmust be huge) The beautiful carved wood interior really is something, with beautiful Snugs..I was really impressed. It was like an upmarket pub in Dublin or Belfast. Wow. Thanks
Honest A — Google review
The food is nice. You better reserve a table in advance otherwise you'll end up in a table with extremely uncomfortable chairs or without a table at all. The atmosphere is goo to watch a game.
Ana R — Google review
Paddy Reilly’s is the perfect spot for anyone looking for the true atmosphere of an Irish pub in Basel. This isn’t just another “Irish-inspired” venue—you can feel the real thing, with the owner and several staff members hailing from Ireland. The authenticity is tangible, from the warm welcome to the friendly vibe. The food is excellent, there’s a great selection of beers, and live music nights often make the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Another big plus is the chance to watch all the main sporting events on the many big screens throughout the pub. If you want a genuine Irish experience, this is definitely the place to be!
Davide G — Google review
We went in to watch six nations rugby. The food was really tasty burgers, nachos, buffalo wings and the like. There were a lot of screens around the room. There was quite a bit of shouting by men at sportball which is not really my think but par for the course given the fact that it is a sports bar.

Atlantis Basel is a popular spot known for its great ambiance and intimate setting, making it perfect for enjoying live concerts. The venue recently hosted an energetic performance by the Black Sorrows from Australia, creating a fantastic experience with their music. Additionally, the restaurant at Atlantis offers delicious food that's worth trying. This glamorous and traditional establishment has been a favorite among visitors to Basel, offering some of the best concerts in the city.

The Atlantis in Basel - a legendary bar, restaurant, and live music venue that holds a special place in my heart. I fondly remember my nights spent within its iconic walls, surrounded by the city's vibrant music scene and eclectic crowd. The atmosphere was always electric, with live bands and musicians taking the stage, filling the room with energy and passion. The menu offered a delicious array of dishes, and the bar served up expertly crafted cocktails and local brewskies that only added to the magic of the place. From rock to swing, the music was always top-notch, and the crowd was always up for a good time. Whether you were a local or just passing through, the Atlantis was a must-visit destination, and its legendary status continues to live on in the hearts of those who experienced its unique charm. Here's to the Atlantis - may its legacy continue to inspire and entertain generations to come!

Great club, with great music and very friendly staff. Definitely worth checking out if you are out in the city.
Alexey V — Google review
Unfortunately it was fully booked for eating but the main reason was the concert with Black Sorrows from Australia. The ambiance in the bar is great, intimate with great sound, luckily we had a table 1 m from the scene, so we could really appreciate all aspects of the bands efforts & feel the warmth from the band as the made a fantastic concert with lots of energy! Will book in time for the next time, seems the food is also really good!! All the best! Mats
Lennart L — Google review
I find it overpriced and disappointing - food is pricy but very mediocre: my wife's burger was soggy and overly salty, my risotto was half-cheese thus heavy and too salty too; scallops were just OK; cocktails were too sweet and too watery, and the choice is very limited. I missed the fact that there was live music that day, so we had to pay 20 CHF per person for a gig, which was a monotonous whine with absolutely awful sound quality: screaming drums, fluctuating solo and just a trace of vocal. To add to that from the recent experience: nothing has changed: very passable food, watery cocktails and distorted sound. The place is just not made for the acoustic requirements of the bands they're trying to host.

Housed in a former electrical substation at Voltaplatz, this unique venue features both indoor and outdoor seating, making it an ideal spot to unwind after work or enjoy a weekend outing.
Have been here several times. This is a great place, ideal for chilling out and enjoying good beer! Offers a delightful fusion of artisanal brewing and vibrant atmosphere. They offer diverse range of craft beers (fermentation tanks are inside) and reasonable options for a quick bite. A little bit “hippie” style but with a modern feel, perfect for both casual gatherings and beer enthusiasts alike. Tends to get crowded by Novartis employees.

Great beer, poorly executed and extremely expensive food. The fried chicken is 3 bite size chicken nuggets and some fries for an absurd 23.- chf. Suggest to eat before you go, or find somewhere else to go.

Came here twice during a weekend in Basel. The outdoor space is lovely. Only tried the lager and stout but both were fresh and great tasting. It’s around 9 CHF a beer, but worth the price for a decent drink!

Decent bar in a relaxed setting. Can get a bit crowded since it's used frequently by nearby pharma companies for after-work drinks. Not that much of an issue in Summer due to plentiful options to sit outside. Great rotation of local craft beers. Definitely recommended.

My wife was sick one night so I went up to the roof top for an adhoc dinner. Chef Petkovic spoke through the menu (very custom interaction) and delivered a sausage/pasta dish that was absolutely fantastic. Because my wife was sick, he offered up a lighter caprese-type of appetizer for her. Also fantastic. He certainly has the touch! Thanks, Chef Petkovic!

Nice location with great drinks and good food, but the music in the bar is terrible. Nestled along the picturesque banks of the Rhine in Basel, Sandoase is a delightful waterside bar that offers an enchanting experience year-round. During the summer months, this vibrant spot transforms into a tropical paradise, complete with soft sand and swaying palm trees, inviting guests to unwind while sipping on refreshing cocktails and enjoying stunning views of the river. As autumn sets in and winter approaches, Sandoase undergoes a magical metamorphosis into a cozy winter village.
A cool and delicious refreshment for the summer! But you are also welcome in the colder months. After work venue, chill area or party location. It’s your choice. Enjoy your cocktail and snacks in a beach atmosphere, with chill house music and surrounded by nice people. Great service and a must (beach visit) if you are in Basel!

To me it’s 4.5 stars. It’s a stones throw from Dreiländereck the viewpoint where you are across the river from France and Germany. Big portions of quality food for a good price. I was here on a rainy Tuesday in May and it’s quiet. In the summer or weekend on a hot day it’s probably heaving with people. The sand floors on the outside deck are cool but the poor staff likely get tired of it! 😝

Great place with awesome vibe. Atmosphere was great. Such a cool experience to chill on a sand with amazing food and drinks. There is a spot to improve though, food and drinks order lines were a bit long and it’s impossible to align the orders as you have to do those in 2 separate places.

Nestled in the heart of Basel's Old Town, Hotel Les Trois Rois is a luxurious 17th-century riverside hotel that has hosted renowned figures like Napoleon and Pablo Picasso. The hotel offers refined accommodations with complimentary WiFi, access to a fitness center, and a BaselCard for free public transport and discounts on cultural activities. Known for its acclaimed dining and cigar lounge, this historic establishment also hosts special events like Mother's Day Brunch.
There is no more extraordinary grand hotel than this one. The staff is competent, friendly, helpful and exceptionally well trained. There is hardly a wish that cannot be read from your lips in an almost magical way. The rooms are bright, large, very well equipped, clean, almost clinically pure. The housekeeping, concierge, reception, directions assistance and front office manager are a well-coordinated team. A taxi is called for the customer in seconds, the bar is well stocked and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and always good for a cocktail surprise. The cigar lounge ‘The Council’ was my living room during my stay, with a very good selection of Cuban cigars of the highest quality. The entire hotel is on par with any international museum in terms of its international art collection. The bar cuisine is exquisite and the restaurant is of world-class quality. I felt at home here and look forward to coming back. It's worth travelling the furthest distances for this place!

Toxic, biased, and completely unprofessional security – avoid this hotel if you care about fairness and safety I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a luxury hotel — all because of the incompetent and biased security staff at Hotel Les Trois Rois. During my visit, I witnessed and experienced blatant gender discrimination. A male guest made a completely unverified comment, and without hesitation, security sided with him — no questions asked, no effort to understand the full context, no interest in hearing both sides. They immediately took action against me, simply because I’m a woman. Their behavior was aggressive, condescending, and rooted in outdated attitudes that have no place in any professional setting, let alone a five-star hotel. The way they handled the situation was not just careless — it was dangerous. Their actions sent a clear message: women are not respected here. The security staff do not behave like trained professionals. They act with prejudice, arrogance, and a disturbing lack of accountability. They treated me with suspicion instead of respect, and it was clear they had already made up their minds before speaking a single word to me. This is not just a service failure — it is a serious reflection of a toxic culture that starts with poor hiring, lack of training, and a complete disregard for guest safety, especially for women. If you're expecting world-class service, safety, and fair treatment, stay far away from this hotel. Until the management overhauls its security practices and addresses the bias in its staff, Hotel Les Trois Rois is not a safe place — it’s a risk.

Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois – Basel, Switzerland Staying at Les Trois Rois was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, the service was seamless, warm, and attentive, setting the tone for a stay that felt both luxurious and personal. ✨ Accommodations: Spacious, elegant rooms that combine old-world charm with modern comfort. The bathtub alone was an experience — the perfect place to unwind after exploring Basel. ✨ Service: Every interaction felt thoughtful and genuine, from the front desk to the housekeeping team. The attention to detail is what makes this hotel stand out among Europe’s finest. ✨ Atmosphere: There’s a timeless grandeur here, but it never feels overwhelming. Instead, you feel like part of the story, walking in the footsteps of history while enjoying every modern luxury. If you’re looking for a hotel that embodies heritage, refinement, and true hospitality, Les Trois Rois is the pinnacle. A stay I will never forget — and one I can’t wait to repeat. - Michelle

A beautiful stay at Les Trois Rois. The staff were warm and welcoming, offering refined Swiss hospitality throughout. The rooms are design-forward yet warm, so detailed and well curated that every element feels intentional. A place where tradition meets thoughtful modernity.
R L — Google review
Worst security experience I’ve ever had – disgraceful treatment of women The security team at Hotel Les Trois Rois is not just unprofessional – they are outright disrespectful and biased. I had a deeply unpleasant encounter where a male guest made a false or minor accusation, and without any effort to verify facts or speak to me directly, security immediately acted against me. They treated me, a female visitor and professional, with no respect or courtesy, showing a shocking lack of basic investigative protocol, empathy, or neutrality. Their first and only instinct was to take the man’s word as truth, without question. This wasn’t a misunderstanding – it was a clear pattern of discrimination. The security staff acted with an aggressive, arrogant, and authoritarian attitude that has no place in any hotel, let alone one with five stars and a reputation for luxury. To be blunt: the security staff here behave like they’re guarding a nightclub, not a historic luxury hotel. They’re poorly trained, deeply biased, and damaging the hotel’s reputation. If you are a woman, a solo traveler, or anyone who expects to be treated with fairness and dignity, do not stay here. The security behavior was offensive, outdated, and dangerous. This hotel clearly prioritizes the comfort of men over the safety and dignity of women. I urge management to take serious action, because the current state of their security team is nothing short of shameful.

Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois — Where Civilization Still Dares to Dream, somewhere between Basel and the edges of myth There are hotels, and then there are living myths — and Les Trois Rois is the latter. A monument to human decency, a sanctuary for those who still believe that class, kindness, and romance belong together in the same trembling sentence. You arrive, like a weary pilgrim at the gates of civilization, and the staff receives you not with corporate smiles but with genuine warmth — the kind that could thaw the Swiss winter and make even a cynic believe again in the possibility of grace. From the first moment you step inside, you know you’re walking through the pages of some grand European story. The chandeliers hum. The leather whispers. The service it’s not subservience; it’s art. Everyone here seems to understand an unspoken covenant: that romance isn’t dead, that beauty still matters, that the world can be civil if only for the span of one perfect evening. And then there’s the patio, that blessed stage overlooking the Rhine. It’s not just a view — it’s a meditation, a Jungian dream made real. The river rolls on like the collective unconscious, deep and ancient, reflecting gold light off its dark surface while couples lean close over glasses of wine, rediscovering their purpose in the myth of each other. You can almost hear Carl Jung himself sighing somewhere upriver, murmuring about archetypes and rebirth as the night drifts in like smoke. Then the beef tartare arrives — a dish so precise, so deliriously good, it could rouse the gods from Olympus for one more dinner on earth. It’s not merely raw meat — it’s a declaration of faith in craftsmanship, in sensuality, in the power of a single bite to silence the noise of modern existence. Pair it with a glass of Saint-Émilion and watch your pulse slow to match the rhythm of the Rhine. Les Trois Rois is a hotel birthing civility, a place that believes in the romance of being alive. The kind of establishment that makes you remember why people once dressed for dinner, why letters were written by hand, and why love — that fragile, impossible thing — is still worth chasing through the centuries. Proof that in this mad, mechanized age, elegance still has a pulse and it beats here on the banks of the Rhine.

I had a really good time at this club and really enjoyed it. However I noticed that there is no viewing platform for people who use mobility aids. I saw some people who got pushed to the side and couldn’t see the stage or the show because there wasn’t a place blocked out for them. They got stuck behind a pillar at the back. I thought this was really not cool. It would be better to have a viewing platform next to the sound booth or next to the stage so people can participate and see properly. It kind of ruined my night that not everyone was able to enjoy it the same way. Can you please do something about the lack of mobility access?

Concert hall
Stadtcasino Basel is a historic venue that offers a 1500-seat 19th-century concert hall, a ballroom, and chamber music hall. The complex also includes several bars and restaurants such as Papa Joe's and the Campari Bar. The venue underwent a major refurbishment in 2020 by Herzog & de Meuron, resulting in an impressive reinterpretation of the original design.
Gorgeous theatre that is well kept and host to the annual jazz festival as well as a sundry of other venues year round. The seats are comfortable and theatre is clean. The atrium offers beverages for sale during events. Its location in the old town is ideal for walking.
Maria M — Google review
Very intense emotion. The theater is placed in the city center, reachable only by public transport or by walking. The acoustic is very good, the place is elegant and the bar very wide.
Claudio C — Google review
Beautiful concert hall in the city center of Basel, with a very elegant style, excellent acoustics, and comfortable seats. It is easy to get to it, they play a lot of good classical music, and the staff is very kind. Can also get relatively cheap tickets to see and listen to wonderful things.
Carlo — Google review
Beautiful building, good seating for concerts. During our visit the balconies were unfortunately closed I would have liked to book a seat on there to have a better view on the orchestra.

Beautiful place, amazing concerts
Harumi O — Google review
A beautiful concert hall. Just beside Historisches Museum. You can get there by tram, get off at Barfusserplatz. During my short trip, I was privileged to witness the Swiss Piano Trio perform great classical pieces from Beethoven, Schubert, among others.
Lyka A — Google review
Despite its name, this is not a casino. It's more like a symphony hall that sometimes used for art and music exhibitions. It's red velvet interior with large canvas drapes ceilings is truly one of a kind.

Bar
French restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Basel, the Campari Bar is a quintessential spot for those seeking an elegant cocktail experience. With its art-adorned walls and a vibe reminiscent of the roaring 1920s, this bar exudes sophistication. The menu celebrates Dolce Vita with delightful offerings like spritzes, bitters, vermouths, and Amaros. Guests can enjoy their drinks in a stunning outdoor garden under majestic chestnut trees—perfect for summer evenings or cozy winter gatherings.
The most extensive Negroni list I have ever seen! We got the purple negroni with lavender bitters and french negroni. 🫶 The price is also decent for cocktails in Switzerland.
Maria G — Google review
Great bar with a big selection of cocktails. Cocktails are really well made. Love their thin french fries. Service however is quite slow and when they are busy it takes awhile for drinks. They forgot out food so we had to go and remind them.
Iva M — Google review
First of all, the interior of the bar is absolutely stunning. The staff are not only friendly but also highly professional. The drinks are very good, making for an overall fantastic experience.
Firat K — Google review
With the bar half full it still took 25mins for a Campari and a Bloody Mary. When asked about the delay, there was no sorry, they just started arguing. Very weird. When paying contactless, no receipt was offered and upon asking for the receipt the waitress mumbled that she wasn’t a thief … strangest experience at an old, once well known and visited institution in Basel.
Thomas S — Google review
Lovely place for drink and food. Good and fast service.

Really charming interior and great menü.

Very pleasant garden to relax under the tree. But so uncomfortable chairs. If they would improve these small round tables for two attendees, it would be great.

Night club
Bar
Kaschemme is a unique and laid-back outdoor club in Basel that offers a diverse range of music, from techno to funk, reggae, and indie rock. The venue's quirky and cozy atmosphere welcomes visitors with mismatched furniture and delightful decor. It's the perfect place to experience local flavor while enjoying a culinary journey that combines traditional Swiss dishes with international twists. The establishment also hosts top-notch live music shows, featuring excellent sound quality and friendly staff.
Was there on a blues-hard rock show, probably the best indie I saw in Basel. Price very reasonable: 10.- Sfr. Musicians were top-notch, sound was amazing, bartenders nice, crowd sympathetic. As in every Swiss concert venue they must give away free ear buds, they also have a dB meter showing volume in real time. Only thing that was a bit disappointing was that there was nothing to munch on to accompany drinks, and the food prepared outside was only ready quite late into the night. Warmly recommended.
Avner P — Google review
Brilliant place for a night out. Has both an inside and an outside bar!
John A — Google review
coole location 👌🏾
Martin L — Google review
One of the worst clubs in the area of Basel. I went there on a normal Saturday (no special event), had an overall bad experience and paid a 15.- entry fee which is way too expensive for what it is. If you like dirty, overpriced, alternative clubs; then this is the place for you
Luan B — Google review
Great underground club! Excellent sound system and friendly staff. Outdoors garden is great for chilling and also has a dj in the summer months
Nick V — Google review

This Jazz club is a cool and sophisticated place where you can enjoy unique cocktails and wine alongside some tasty snacks. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing evening out, with great music to accompany your mood. Early arrival is recommended to avoid crowds!
Just an absolutely fantastic little jazz bar tucked away in Basel. Fantastic acts are brought through, they usually have two sets, you can make a reservation for the first set and I can't think of a better way to spend an evening in Basel! The staff were super friendly and the service was great. Most importantly it's just a wonderful venue for an intimate night of jazz music.
Richard L — Google review
So nice to have this venue in old town. Since we were visiting and unsure of our schedule we didn’t make reservations. However, we arrived early and were able to get a seat in the back. A pillar obstructed our view. We had one drink and enjoyed the music. Very affordable.
Maria M — Google review
Very good place to enjoy live music.Very good sound and good service from friendly staff. If you like good jazz music and you're in the Basel old town, you shouldn't miss it.Very good experience with a very jazzy atmosphere.Recomended.
Kostas R — Google review
Great jazz club with very helpful staff. Light snacks and drinks served at the table. Great acoustics. We saw the Wayne Escoffery Quartet on the first of three nights playing there. Great band well worth catching if you can.
Gordon B — Google review
Amazing place with a great atmosphere for those looking to spend a pleasant night having a drink or listening to live jazz music. Prices are normal for Switzerland. We also had to pay like 12fr for each band, but totally enjoyed it. I only wish they had a garden to sit outside during lovely summer nights and enjoy live music
Adrian P — Google review
Reserve early and arrive early, the "box office" is a disaster! Tried to make a reservation the day before, response was sold out but can try box office-ok. Went to box office at open and was advised to come back in 15min to see if any free seats. 15min later and 50 people waiting outside, she was just selling tickets to these people without regard to my asking first. There were even people waiting outside with their reservations and she wouldn't let them in because she sold their tickets already! 20 mins before show and reservations useless! I understand they fill up quick, but a little respect for potential clients would be nice!

Tattoo Basel is the world's second-largest military music festival, taking place annually in the summer. The event features elite military bands from around the globe, offering an impressive musical program that captivates audiences. It is a breathtaking spectacle where people from different countries come together to showcase their culture and musical variety. Even for those not typically drawn to this type of music, the performances are sure to leave a lasting impression.
What a fantastic experience! Program is magnificent. Entertainment is from all over the world performing for almost 2 hours. Military bands, bagpipes, chorale groups,dancers...you name it. We'll with the price of admission. (Be aware that the announcements were in German but not really an issue. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Wendy B — Google review
Really well done show. I went on a Sunday night and most of the seats were full. (I recommend going to an evening show so you can see the light and fire/smoke effects better.) The food and drink stands that were set up outside the event were nice, it created a fun atmosphere. I recommend buying food/drink before you go inside - there are many more options. Only surprise for me was that they require tickets to be printed out - can't show them on a cell phone. If you forget the customer service can help you.

We were a table of 9 guests having mostly fondue and celebrate a friend’s bday. The food and drinks are good and the atmosphere is cosy despite being located in a rooftop tent. Toilets are therefore outside. Service was ok but could have been better. Parking options around are limited but there’s a tram stop just nearby.

Invino is a wine bar with a focus on the wine's origin and grape types. The bar offers a rotating selection of five wines from specific regions, with guests able to offer feedback on the wine menu. The wine bar also has sister restaurant opposite which I did not try. Based on my limited experience, I would say that the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, offering an interesting choice of wines from across different regions.
Definitely the best wine bar in Basel. Amazing wine selection !
