Fine dining restaurant
Haute French restaurant
Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl is an elegant and refined riverside restaurant located in the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois, offering innovative French cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on exceptional service and sourcing the finest ingredients available on the market. With a maximum capacity of 30 guests, the dining experience is set in a beautiful space adorned with striking chandeliers and high ceilings.
Great food, experience and service from all the staff in a beautiful setting. This is up there with the very best Michelin starred restaurants we’ve had the pleasure to dine at. Each dish was unique and flavourful, the perfect portion size that leaves you waiting in anticipation for the next course. Thanks to all you all for an experience never to be forgotten.
Sergio ( — Google review
If I had to pick one word to describe Cheval Blanc, it would be impeccable. From the greeting as we arrived a bit early to the flawless dining experience and finally, the unexpected, super enjoyable after dinner drinks and cigar bar, this dining experience was unrivaled. Our group of 4 came to Basel for one night and were fortunate enough to score a lunch reservation Friday, May 9th. From the moment we stepped into the stunning hotel and absolutely beautiful restaurant we knew our experience would be memorable. As we arrived early, we were greeted immediately and escorted to the bar area right outside the main restaurant. It was almost as if they expected us early. We drank some champagne before entering the main restaurant experience right on time. The dining room was tastefully decorated and the subtle touches (i.e. candles) made the experience special. The setting along the Rhine River was just one more Iconic element. The dining room was full and at the same time entirely intimate. We knew there were other guests in the room with us, but never really felt or heard their presence. To say the food was amazing is to sell it short. When you dine at an establishment like Cheval Blanc, you expect the food to be exceptional. The food on this day was more than up to the task. Two of us were grateful that the chef allowed us to substitute for our main protein course. The presentation was amazing with each course seemingly looking and tasting better than the previous one. I will post a few pictures and hope you will accept our apologies for the one course/picture that has a spoon in it. That course looked (and was) so delicious that we all started eating before we took a picture. The cheese course was a welcome and unique experience for us. Note: the picture I posted was AI adjusted as we removed the photobombers (coworkers and other patrons) from the picture. No cheese was altered by AI. The wine list was extensive and impressive and our selections matched up well to our menu. The Cheval Banc team was a perfect accompaniment to the food and drink. The entire team worked with precision, knowing just when to serve the next course with compelling descriptions. The team was personal and engaging, yet never intrusive. Flawless in execution while at the same time graceful in delivery. Our chef came out at the end of our meal and engaged our table for a few minutes. He was authentically interested in learning about our experience and outwardly pleased we enjoyed our time. To finish off the day, our group was escorted to the Cigar Bar for drinks and a smoke. It could not have been a better setting for our nightcap (err, day cap). The setting was reminiscent of a scene from a James Bod movie. Yet again, we felt refreshingly alone in a room with multiple groups present and our experience only enhanced by the people serving us. Our only regret was cutting or trip to Basel short by a day. Hopefully we will have a chance to return to the wonderful city on a future trip and be lucky enough to dine at Cheval Blanc again. Maybe we will see you there!

First and foremost, a big thank you to the staff. They made our evening a memorable. The atmosphere was fantastic. The food was delicious. It was elaborately prepared and served by passionate staff. Thank you.
Zebiba H — Google review
this was our 3rd michelin experience in Basel and unfortunately the most disappointing. We had the 6 course dinner menu with wine pairing. Nothing felt exceptional about a 3 michelin star restaurant here. We really expected an elevated experience, but it felt quite flat. The starters and even the menu itself were not very memorable. We liked the main courses of fish and deer but besides that, nothing stood out. We had to fill up on bread since we were not even close to being full. Also there was almost no explanation of why a particular wine was paired with a food; we were only given the description of the wine. We also asked many questions about the origins of the ingredients and most of the staff were unaware. Overall, did not feel even close to the 4 digit price tag we ended up paying.
Vishesh G — Google review
Tldr: Excellent three Michelin star restaurant in a beautiful setting. Come hungry if you're having the prix fixe menu. Came for dinner. Ordered the six course prix fixe menu. Got 14 courses. Not disappointed. The service is excellent, the setting is beautiful, and the food is always high quality. I wasn't blown away by any single dish, like I often am when dining at a place of this caliber, but everything was very good, and there was a lot of variety. It's an excellent experience, but be prepared to linger over dinner. We arrived at 7:15 and left at 11pm.
Ian F — Google review
Technical knowledge and understanding of flavours on show. Some of the best fish and seafood dishes I have eaten. Sea urchin outstanding and sole was inspired. The main course lacked cohesion and cooking of the lamb missed the mark for me. Service was formal, and attentive. Some low level music would help to break down the stuffy and stiff atmosphere.
Dan P — Google review
Great food, Great experience. Highly recommended. I can see why they earned the Michelin Stars. Each dish was unique and flavourful. My favorite part was the briefcase filled with chocolate that was presented at the end of the meal.
Zandrea P — Google review
It's obviously amazing since it didn't get three stars by chance but even with high expectations it was outstanding. Delicious food compositions, flawless service and a sophisticated atmosphere.

Restaurant
Nestled along the picturesque River Rhine in Basel, Restaurant Atelier (im Teufelhof) offers a remarkable dining experience. The restaurant is known for its modern cuisine crafted from local ingredients and served in an artsy setting. With a manageable menu and daily specials, guests can savor dishes like veal cutlets with fried potatoes and wild pepper jus. The intimate space exudes charm, featuring nooks and crannies to explore while enjoying freshly prepared meals.
Amazing service and great dishes in the courtyard in old Basel.

What a disappointment! We ordered a salad for a starter and a main course of fish. The salad was ok, nothing special. The fish came cold, and row I returned it to the kitchen. It came after a while and was still row in the middle. It is unfortunate to see the same fish served at the same table, which was different. The Basmati rice was half cooked. The taste of the fish and the rice was blant, no flavour at all. The service, was unprofessional. I did not expect this from this restaurant. I have been in this restaurant since we moved to Basel. Thank god they did not charge me for my fish.
Zebiba H — Google review
A wonderful place with great service. The charming patio offers a bit of coolness on a hot day. Unfortunately, we were probably unlucky with the food – out of five people, four received heavily oversalted dishes (steaks and lamb), and the gazpacho had nothing to do with a proper gazpacho – watery, lacking blended bread, and with no noticeable garlic flavor.
Marek L — Google review
Beautiful place and great food! One of the best restaurants in Basel-Stadt!
Ana R — Google review
For my boyfriends birthday, we came here for a dinner yesterday. It was a wonderful surprise that they accomodated this special event with a special table secluded from the rest of the restaurant, ideal for a romantic dinner for 2. They even prepared a little gift and a note. We had the steak and lamb menu - both perfectly done to our taste. They have a huuuuge wine selection! and a very interesting palette of starters. Service was also perfectly executed.
Viktoria H — Google review
The starter and the main dish were delicious! A lot of different flavors, a very nice combination. The meat was tender and melting in the mouth, and was accompanied with a delicious sauce and puree. The service is quick and competent. I am very pleased by that. Only negative thing, with all honestly, The dessert is awful. I didn't even finish it, I ate only one bite and it was enough. It is such a shame as it is the last part of the meal. Nevertheless, I would recommend this restaurant for its various starters and dishes, but not for the dessert.
Luna — Google review
Exceptional restaurant. I tried the steak. It was tender and flavourful cooked to perfection, with a very good Chianti. The waitress was extremely friendly and very professional. The setting is excellent for romantic dinner or professional gatherings. Apparently you can buy paintings on site.
Charbel Z — Google review
Nice place. Presentation of dishes is excellent. The quality is quite good, but the steak was a bit small and not flavored well. Service decent but not amazing.

Brasserie, Bar und Event Volkshaus Basel is a historic building dating back to the 14th century that has been transformed into a popular cultural and dining destination. The venue underwent a major refurbishment by renowned local architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, resulting in an eclectic mix of furnishings and modern design elements. The bar offers a diverse menu featuring high-quality Swiss, French, and Spanish wines, beer from a nearby microbrewery, and tapas snacks.
We stayed an entire week for business at the hotel. It was a very busy week because the Eurovision Song Contest had landed in town. Staff created a home away from home. Very centrally located, with a nice courtyard and a great restaurant.
Jean T — Google review
Quite good service initially but food a big let down. Steak (frites) was so tough as to be inedible. Waiter who cleared away plates didn’t enquire how our meals were but was happy to ask if to wanted to add a tip. Another colleague started to set up the breakfast tables beside us not halfway through our meal (20.15 reservation)
Drum M — Google review
My friend and I stayed here - we found the studio room to feel spacious and modern. I particularly loved the dark green colour scheme throughout the hotel. The shower and toilet were separate, and I liked the concept of drawing curtains around the bathroom area after stepping out of the shower for privacy. The hotel is located very conveniently near the historic Mittlere Brücke (bridge) and the Claraplatz tram station, where the No.8 tram can take you to Basel's main train station (e.g. to then get to the airport) and also into Germany, Weil am Rhein! Coop and Migros are also nearby for food shopping. Each floor has a water, tea, and fruit station, which was great. The downside was our room didn't have a mini fridge, so we weren't able to keep any drinks or food that required refrigeration. Additionally, the table in our room also only had one chair (and a lower reclining chair in the corner) so we weren't able to sit at the table together.
Joyce T — Google review
We were at the bar. The cocktails were delicious and service friendly but the loaded fries were terrible. Cheep truffle aroma and congealed Parmesan on top of what would have been decent fries.
The W — Google review
Went there for a business dinner and apero. It was a lovely setting with very good food and service. It is well located and 1 min walk from the tram. I am not sure about the price but I assume on the high end of a Swiss restaurant
Jessica S — Google review
We stopped for dinner in their beautiful courtyard in the evening. We were seated quickly and service was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. We all had steak frites. It certainly isn't cheap but then I guess it is in Switzerland!
Richard J — Google review
The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional, but the food itself was fairly mediocre and felt overpriced for the quality.
Fabian H — Google review
Great vibe, quirky hotel, delicious drinks. Kim was amazing in the bar and very informative about the local produce from the area. Rooms were very clean and tidy and local area was nearby with lots of interesting attractions - entertainment, food, bars and a barber all within 5 minutes

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant Stucki - Tanja Grandits offers a refined yet relaxed dining experience in the Bruderholz neighborhood. Chef Tanja Grandits presents her unique 'aroma kitchen' style, featuring imaginative dishes with contrasting flavors and textures, such as wasabi mousse and green tea guacamole. Guests can enjoy the nine-course 'Aroma Menu' or opt for the more affordable lunchtime menus.
The culinary journey that was the nine course menu was pure bliss. Each dish presented was a masterpiece, both visually stunning and bursting with exquisite flavors. Chef Tanja Grandits's innovative approach to cuisine shines through in every bite, showcasing a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. The service was impeccable, with a knowledgeable and attentive staff who guided me through the menu with expertise and warmth. The attention to detail and genuine passion for hospitality were evident throughout the entire meal, making me feel truly valued as a guest. The ambiance of the restaurant was equally impressive, with a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. It is a true gem in Basel's culinary scene, and I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience. I left Stucki feeling not only satisfied but also inspired by the culinary artistry and hospitality displayed by Chef Tanja and her team.
Julien D — Google review
To be honest i was a little disappointed. First of all the good points. -if you ask questions they are dutifully answered and even though they tried to accommodate your requests as good as possible. -the food was mostly very very good. A few dishes were not fitting into the concept somehow but overall superb quality of cooking -when mentioned we had some books to sign we were even shown the patisserie. -the armosphere was amazing. The things which didn’t go so well: -the wine pairing was completely out of synch with dinner. They poured the next wine before we even finished the last one. -the amouse bouche was somehow in a weird order and the one we tried first was overwhelming every taste. -the first starter was absolutely not fitting. -the apero was extraordinary expensive. This is something which bothers me generally. They never tell you how much an apero will cost even though it is important and 35 per glass is outrageous if you only get it on the bill. -we paid 1200 chf for two people and for that it wasn’t good enough to be honest. Most expensive star experience so far and i think other ones were much better.
Marcel C — Google review
We had lunch here and it was a feast. Every dish was very pretty yet never exaggerated. No artificial show elements. It is all about taste and textures. The cutlery and plating are even downright simple, nothing special, but you don‘t eat out to see knives and forks. Tanja greeted us at our table which was very nice. The atmosphere is pleasant, no music! Most guests seem to be locals having a regular lunch on a weekday, apparently the neighborhood is rich.
Hans M — Google review
Dining at Tanja Grandits was a true honour and memorable experience. We were lucky to find a table on the Jul 31st, the evening before Swiss National Day. We were especially delighted that the chef herself came out to serve us the first dish — a wonderful personal touch. Each course was exquisite, with unique flavours highlighted by creative use of herbs and spices. The portions were decent and satisfying, and the service throughout was warm, friendly, and attentive. A fantastic dining experience all around. A restaurant which I would love to come back again.
Clariss C — Google review
Indulging in the culinary experience at Tanja Grandits was an absolute delight! The food was truly exceptional, showcasing flavors that took my taste buds on an unforgettable journey. However, what elevated the entire experience was the impeccable wine pairing suggested by the knowledgeable sommelier. Each selection beautifully complemented the dishes and offered a global tour of flavors, making every sip an adventure. Without a doubt, investing in the wine pairing was worth every penny for the added dimension it brought to an already outstanding dining experience.
Michael B — Google review
In the 9 course meal, I would be surprised if at least 3 did not leave you utterly impressed. However, at the level of perfection that you expect from a restaurant that has 2 Michelin stars and at the price point they operate any detail less than perfect should be noted. These include: 1. The butter temperature when initially served was a few degrees too cold. Making it hard to spread. It reached ideal temperature around 90 minutes after it was first served. 2. The bill took too long to be brought after the dinner was complete. Over 20 minutes waiting without a clear way to request it again since our table was not in direct line of sight to waiters after their service was complete. 3. The meat dish towards the end was not as impressive as some of the earlier dishes. Specifically, the meat did not have the “cuts like butter” tenderness one comes to expect at this level of experience. All that being said, it is worth the experience and the level of organization and precision throughout are noteworthy.
Paulo — Google review
The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and the ambience had a quiet elegance without being too stuffy. It was a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday. Sending my warmest thanks to your lovely team for making my birthday special. They were gluten-free friendly.
Valerie R — Google review
I read some time ago, when eating at a 2 Michelin Star restaurant, you should have a continuous Oh Wow experience! A restaurant such as the Stucki, that also has 19 Gault Millau points should definitively give you that experience. Unfortunately we did not :-(. We were a party of 6. It started all good, the first few courses, of the 9 course dinner, were nice, perfectly made and presented. But then, it started to go downhill. The service was mediocre, the dishes lacked TLC (tender loving care). The meat dish was disappointing, rather tough and chewy, not what one expects in this price class. The cheese dish in the end was another utter disappointment. The cheese must have just come out the fridge, it was cold and hard, reminded me of a Migros Budget cheese!! The service, because of the many different servers, was a bit unorganized. At times it felt too busy around us, without anything happening. Last but not least, when dining in such a supposed class restaurant, one would expect, that somebody from the kitchen is coming out to the table to inquire how the guests are doing. But, no such thing happened. When asking where the Chef was, we were told Ms. Grandits was sick. The next morning we read in a local newspaper, she was attending the opening of a new local store!!!! Really??? Tell the truth!! didn’t already our parents told us that?? All in all, never again, in this price class I expect perfection

Nestled in a quaint corner of Basel, Fischerstube is a beloved microbrewery that perfectly captures the essence of Swiss-German culinary traditions. With its inviting ambiance featuring whitewashed walls and rustic wooden tables, this brewpub offers an array of delicious homemade meals ranging from warm pretzels to hearty sausages and schnitzels. Established in 1974, it proudly serves its own Ueli Bier, crafted right on-site in gleaming copper tanks visible from the dining area.
Scrummy food in a Swiss Beiz- helpful friendly and convivial service - cosy atmosphere and quite the place to eat delicious food after a hike or a long day. The local Swiss delicacy of pork cheeks is one to certainly try -

The food was very tasty and the waiter was very friendly and explained to us the brewing process (which happens behind the restaurant). This meant we had really nice beer and were even given a tasting of the beers they brew locally. The only thing I can complain about is the price, but the costs are very transparent even on the menu at the door.
Elena S — Google review
A rather mediocre and underwhelming experience with decent but bland food. The restaurant staff was very friendly, but seemed rather overwhelmed and not in control of the situation, sometimes not even responding to us asking for a refill. They forgot about our table reservation and offered it up to a spontaneous walk-in group, while leaving us with the choice of splitting up or squeezing in tight. The food was decent, but way to overpriced for what it was and felt rather bland (Might be my personal preference though, cause I enjoy good seasoning). Meat wasn’t medium and instead done and on some parts randomly rare, while the herb butter was a frozen chunk. Portions were adequate, but some of the plates we received were dirty. All in all not a bad experience but I will not go again and definitely not recommend it to any of my friends.

Started with the Buffalo mozzarella. Definitely a winner! For meals, we had a pretzel burger and the prime rib. Both were outstanding! Wait staff were all friendly and attentive. Added bonus of a marching band playing down the street and then showing up in front of this place. Away from the "touristy" areas. Highly recommend!

Hidden gem on a side street just off the Rhine. Old Swiss tavern style without being too overdone. Modern bar with plenty of schnapps, good wine, and tasty draft beer. Had several of their beers, including a seasonal stout that was surprisingly really good. Food was phenomenal, especially the seasonal asparagus cream soup. Stellar experience.

Super nice place! We had dinner here and i ordered the vegetarian tartar. Within minutes they asked how it was. I said it was not how i expected it to be. They offered a new dish immediately. Great service, fast and kind. We will come back for sure.

A week in Basel and this was my best dining experience. Friendly staff, lovely outdoor dining, great beer, beautifully plated meals, extremely delicious sauces and homemade spatzle offerings. A must do restaurant!

We went there on Easter night and we were very pleased with the food. The waiter was very nice and polite, taking care of our needs especially with 2 little ones and let us order for the kids first. Good beer, very good Swiss/German food especially if you are a meat lover.

Restaurant Bel Etage (im Teufelhof) is a renowned fine-dining establishment in Basel, Switzerland. Chef Michael Baader leads the culinary team, offering a blend of Swiss and international ingredients in seasonal dishes. The restaurant features four rooms within the historic Teufelhof hotel, adorned with modern art, and a charming terrace for al fresco dining. Guests can indulge in tasting menus paired with carefully selected wines or explore the versatile à-la-carte options.
The aesthetically pleasing décor of this one-starred Michelin restaurant, housed in a historic building alongside several other restaurants, truly lives up to its name. Bel Etage exudes a unique and inviting ambiance, characterized by its tiled floors, wooden doors, and art adorning the walls. The welcoming staff and attentive service further enhance the dining experience. Despite its concise menu, Bel Etage offers intriguing culinary options. During our recent visit, we had the privilege of being among the first to sample their new seasonal menu. The Mushroom Ravioli with leek and the veal were particularly exceptional, showcasing the restaurant's culinary expertise and creativity. Overall, Bel Etage is a culinary gem that should not be missed when visiting Basel.

Was here for the last official dinner of the year for our working group. The restaurant has a traditional and elegant feel to it, with wooden flooring. We had a 3 course dinner consisting of salad, main course and dessert plate. The main course was the veal escalope with pepper sauce, tagliolini and zucchini. The veal was soft, juicy and delicious. The dessert plate plate was good and refreshing. But italians might find the tagliolini a tad overcooked and soft. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Very good for fine dining

Visited the restaurant back in November (menu has changed since then). Warm and quaint interior. The service was delightful, both waitresses were very eager and helpful. The dishes were tasty, although a bit simplistic, and thus I’m ambivalent about the michelin star. However it is a fine restaurant by swiss standards and the value for money is unbeatable.

Absolutely delicious and stunning food. Not a single fault to complain about. Truly exceptional. The service was also very kind but seemed a bit incompetent and slow when it came to splitting the bill.

Nestled in the heart of Basel's Old Town, Hotel Les Trois Rois is a luxurious 17th-century riverside hotel that has hosted renowned figures like Napoleon and Pablo Picasso. The hotel offers refined accommodations with complimentary WiFi, access to a fitness center, and a BaselCard for free public transport and discounts on cultural activities. Known for its acclaimed dining and cigar lounge, this historic establishment also hosts special events like Mother's Day Brunch.
There is no more extraordinary grand hotel than this one. The staff is competent, friendly, helpful and exceptionally well trained. There is hardly a wish that cannot be read from your lips in an almost magical way. The rooms are bright, large, very well equipped, clean, almost clinically pure. The housekeeping, concierge, reception, directions assistance and front office manager are a well-coordinated team. A taxi is called for the customer in seconds, the bar is well stocked and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and always good for a cocktail surprise. The cigar lounge ‘The Council’ was my living room during my stay, with a very good selection of Cuban cigars of the highest quality. The entire hotel is on par with any international museum in terms of its international art collection. The bar cuisine is exquisite and the restaurant is of world-class quality. I felt at home here and look forward to coming back. It's worth travelling the furthest distances for this place!

Toxic, biased, and completely unprofessional security – avoid this hotel if you care about fairness and safety I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a luxury hotel — all because of the incompetent and biased security staff at Hotel Les Trois Rois. During my visit, I witnessed and experienced blatant gender discrimination. A male guest made a completely unverified comment, and without hesitation, security sided with him — no questions asked, no effort to understand the full context, no interest in hearing both sides. They immediately took action against me, simply because I’m a woman. Their behavior was aggressive, condescending, and rooted in outdated attitudes that have no place in any professional setting, let alone a five-star hotel. The way they handled the situation was not just careless — it was dangerous. Their actions sent a clear message: women are not respected here. The security staff do not behave like trained professionals. They act with prejudice, arrogance, and a disturbing lack of accountability. They treated me with suspicion instead of respect, and it was clear they had already made up their minds before speaking a single word to me. This is not just a service failure — it is a serious reflection of a toxic culture that starts with poor hiring, lack of training, and a complete disregard for guest safety, especially for women. If you're expecting world-class service, safety, and fair treatment, stay far away from this hotel. Until the management overhauls its security practices and addresses the bias in its staff, Hotel Les Trois Rois is not a safe place — it’s a risk.

Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois – Basel, Switzerland Staying at Les Trois Rois was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, the service was seamless, warm, and attentive, setting the tone for a stay that felt both luxurious and personal. ✨ Accommodations: Spacious, elegant rooms that combine old-world charm with modern comfort. The bathtub alone was an experience — the perfect place to unwind after exploring Basel. ✨ Service: Every interaction felt thoughtful and genuine, from the front desk to the housekeeping team. The attention to detail is what makes this hotel stand out among Europe’s finest. ✨ Atmosphere: There’s a timeless grandeur here, but it never feels overwhelming. Instead, you feel like part of the story, walking in the footsteps of history while enjoying every modern luxury. If you’re looking for a hotel that embodies heritage, refinement, and true hospitality, Les Trois Rois is the pinnacle. A stay I will never forget — and one I can’t wait to repeat. - Michelle

A beautiful stay at Les Trois Rois. The staff were warm and welcoming, offering refined Swiss hospitality throughout. The rooms are design-forward yet warm, so detailed and well curated that every element feels intentional. A place where tradition meets thoughtful modernity.

Luxurious, warm and welcoming iconic hotel in the best area of Basel. We enjoyed a lot our recent stay in this beautiful hotel. It has 3 magnificent restaurants and a lovely bar. Be ready to make your reservation to the Cheval Blanc restaurant with a lot of anticipation

Worst security experience I’ve ever had – disgraceful treatment of women The security team at Hotel Les Trois Rois is not just unprofessional – they are outright disrespectful and biased. I had a deeply unpleasant encounter where a male guest made a false or minor accusation, and without any effort to verify facts or speak to me directly, security immediately acted against me. They treated me, a female visitor and professional, with no respect or courtesy, showing a shocking lack of basic investigative protocol, empathy, or neutrality. Their first and only instinct was to take the man’s word as truth, without question. This wasn’t a misunderstanding – it was a clear pattern of discrimination. The security staff acted with an aggressive, arrogant, and authoritarian attitude that has no place in any hotel, let alone one with five stars and a reputation for luxury. To be blunt: the security staff here behave like they’re guarding a nightclub, not a historic luxury hotel. They’re poorly trained, deeply biased, and damaging the hotel’s reputation. If you are a woman, a solo traveler, or anyone who expects to be treated with fairness and dignity, do not stay here. The security behavior was offensive, outdated, and dangerous. This hotel clearly prioritizes the comfort of men over the safety and dignity of women. I urge management to take serious action, because the current state of their security team is nothing short of shameful.

Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois — Where Civilization Still Dares to Dream, somewhere between Basel and the edges of myth There are hotels, and then there are living myths — and Les Trois Rois is the latter. A monument to human decency, a sanctuary for those who still believe that class, kindness, and romance belong together in the same trembling sentence. You arrive, like a weary pilgrim at the gates of civilization, and the staff receives you not with corporate smiles but with genuine warmth — the kind that could thaw the Swiss winter and make even a cynic believe again in the possibility of grace. From the first moment you step inside, you know you’re walking through the pages of some grand European story. The chandeliers hum. The leather whispers. The service it’s not subservience; it’s art. Everyone here seems to understand an unspoken covenant: that romance isn’t dead, that beauty still matters, that the world can be civil if only for the span of one perfect evening. And then there’s the patio, that blessed stage overlooking the Rhine. It’s not just a view — it’s a meditation, a Jungian dream made real. The river rolls on like the collective unconscious, deep and ancient, reflecting gold light off its dark surface while couples lean close over glasses of wine, rediscovering their purpose in the myth of each other. You can almost hear Carl Jung himself sighing somewhere upriver, murmuring about archetypes and rebirth as the night drifts in like smoke. Then the beef tartare arrives — a dish so precise, so deliriously good, it could rouse the gods from Olympus for one more dinner on earth. It’s not merely raw meat — it’s a declaration of faith in craftsmanship, in sensuality, in the power of a single bite to silence the noise of modern existence. Pair it with a glass of Saint-Émilion and watch your pulse slow to match the rhythm of the Rhine. Les Trois Rois is a hotel birthing civility, a place that believes in the romance of being alive. The kind of establishment that makes you remember why people once dressed for dinner, why letters were written by hand, and why love — that fragile, impossible thing — is still worth chasing through the centuries. Proof that in this mad, mechanized age, elegance still has a pulse and it beats here on the banks of the Rhine.

Dined here two days in a row due to the wonderful quality of the food and the very warm and welcoming service. Both times, the food was of a very high standard and super tasty. The interior of the building is stunning and very inviting. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately it was covered in plastic and scaffolding. The food was OK. Although see other reviews not as good as other places I dined at. The food which came off the menu beforethe starter and afterthe dessert-the petit fours were delicious. The Venison chipolata | Caponata | Scamorza cheese | Bacon-Thyme foam soup was good. Duo of wild duck | Autumn polenta | Cowberries | Brussels sprouts | Chestnuts would have been good apart from the Chestnuts were too like marron glace too sweet if they had done just roasted Chestnuts it would have worked. They served wine from giant bottles which were too gimmickry for me. So if they didn't peer pressure you when you first came in to have a glass of red wine from the massive bottle I would have enjoyed it more.

The food is incredible! Slowly served in the European fashion. There was NOT one bad bite and worse, my wife wouldn’t let me lick the plate. Services is European (letting you enjoy your food without bothering), but quick to help if you have questions. Top notch. From a dumb American, try it. You will not be disappointed! Wish I could give 10 stars

Great Swiss hospitality indeed! 😍 😍 😍

Wonderful dining experience in a historical setting, yet the restaurant didn't lose its touch on modernizing itself. From the manager to waiters/waitresses, everyone was courteous and kind. The main dishes here today are the white asparagus soup and beef fillet with potatoes. The meal ended with two pieces of sweets, which are not too sweet and on point!

Wonderful place for Asian fusion food in Basel. Came here with a colleague for dinner and was pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. We had the gyoza and shrimp for starters, the risotto and salmon for mains and the chocolate fondant for dessert. Everything was great and would recommend this place if you want a switch from Italian and Swiss good.

I am amazed by this incredible restaurant. It is by far the best sushi and saki I have ever had! Kimihide Ishiguro is a sushi master, and he was able to craft specialty custom-made sushi for me per request. This made it possible for me to enjoy the sushi here for my birthday, as I am gluten free and vegan and typically have a hard time finding a place to appreciate sushi. I am so impressed, and thankful to have this wonderful place in Basel, Switzerland to enjoy the best sushi in the world!

Good food! The Singapore chicken and Red Thai Prawn curry is excellent! Updated Jan 2024: Came back here for our group dinner. Service standards have improved greatly. Our orders came very quickly this time, and the food is still as good.
Gilbert C — Google review
We went there excited seeing the positive reviews on google, hoping for very good and authentic asian food, unfortunately our overall experience was not recommandable and we wouldn't come back. We took 2 starters that we shared, the Tom kha soup and the Papaya salad, which were presented well and were pretty good even though they were pretty expensive for just starters. Our big deception came from the main dishes, we had 2x Soba noodles with Duck, 1x Soba noodles vegeterian and 1x Fried rice with chicken. They were presented in warmed and very nice plates so presentation was very nice, however the most important is how the food tastes and the price. The soba noodles sauce was too sweet with barely any veggies, the duck was dry and served in big chunks which didn't make it enjoyable. The fried rice had a good woke hay but that's about it, barely any veggies or variation. And when you consider prices of 44 CHF for one of those it is way overpriced. With such high prices we expected way more authenticity and quality. The service was also relatively slow, and not the most professional or welcoming. On top of that all 4 of us had bad stomach issues later that night and the next day, really disappointing considering the excessive price we paid (280 CHF for 4 persons) to get stomach pain and well presented average asian food. P.S. The Yuzu Sour cocktail for 19 CHF was also not worth it, it is quite small and just not up to standard.

Its supposed to be one of the best Sushi places in Basel. Well in short, its NOT. Has Asian dishes, Sushi/Sashimi, limited selections, no music, almost empty despite them stating a reservation is required. But nevertheless, the food was fulfilling. I had reviewed the reviews and opted for the sushi tower which was almost satisfactory. Some items were Toooo salty though. Edamame received cold. Udon with beef strips was delish to be honest but heavy and felt with gravy. Couldnt finish my plate but still managed. All in all expect to drop a couple of hundred francs for food (with no alcohol).😳😳

Modern European restaurant
Roter Bären is a popular and trendy restaurant located in the hip Ochsengasse area of Basel. The chef, Roger von Buren, is highly regarded for his thoughtful and cleverly sourced dishes that offer a modern twist on Swiss specialties and European cuisine. The restaurant's casual vibe and excellent cooking have earned it a reputation as a must-visit dining spot in the city.
I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Roter Bären. We had an interesting gastronomic experience with most plates being a success. Quite expensive but good value for money if you celebrate a special occasion or fancy a high-end bistronomic experience.

Creative. Delicious. Great concept with the same sized portion. Kind service. Highlight was the filled ravioli! Definitely a gourmet restaurant but with reasonable prices!

Nice food, but slow. Long wait between courses. Service was very slow - which was surprising for a Michelin guide restaurant. Cutlery wasn’t replaced or changed between courses; after the cocktails we requested right at the start of the meal, we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else to drink throughout the meal; we had to ask for more water after our bottle was empty for 20 mins. A nice restaurant, but being Michelin guide raised our expectations to other similar restaurants and overall we were left disappointed.

Wow. First of all, the atmosphere was amazing - intimate and cozy yet modern. But man, the food was incredible! I think the menu rotates but some of my favorites were the celery/white chocolate/quinoa soup, grilled lettuce with potato ice cream & truffle shavings, truffle tagliatelle w egg, and the venison with spatzle and cherry. Prices are set for 3, 4, or 5 plates per person; my friend and I ordered 4 each (to try the full menu of 8 items total) and we were quite full (but very happy). The service was great, from recommending good wines to asking if we needed a break between courses (which we did). Overall, it was excellent!!

My review is based on the bar, as I didn’t have dinner there. It felt a bit overrated, cocktail was just a regular cocktail not even cold enough…. You pay more for the views of the terrace that in the weekend is too crowded (no music in the background ) just a lot of noise of someone’s else conversations

Tibits is a popular restaurant chain known for its vegetarian and vegan offerings. With over 40 seasonal dishes, the restaurant takes pride in using fresh, regional produce to create delicious and healthy salads, soups, juices, and desserts. The pay-per-weight buffet system allows patrons to enjoy a variety of hot and cold dishes without meat. The venue offers a cozy yet speedy dining experience with options for Asian, Thai, Mediterranean, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets.
The food was very creative and tasty. However, if you're hungry, you quickly spend a fair amount of money. The concept is essentially self-service so you feel like you're in a cafeteria, although a trendy one.

We came back 2x for this lunch. Really enjoyed the food selection and flavors. It’s pay per weight so the hungrier you are the more you pay.

Tibits restaurants are our all time favorite all over Switzerland. It was our first night in Basel and we came here walking (thanks to google) for dinner. Though there was outdoor seating but due to cold weather everyone was indoor. We started with white wine and whiskey with Nachos. I don't know why they don't serve scotch whiskey ? The buffet spread of veg and vegan dishes was great. There were many Indian dishes. The concept of paying as per weight is good. The food was delicious. The staff was very helpful. The washroom was upstairs. While coming down, one of the staff found me struggling. He took me behind kitchen and brought me down by service elevator. Thanks a lot. The ambiance was great, totally family oriented. Don't miss it when in Switzerland...

While visiting Basel, I ate here twice in two days. I loved the inventive vegan selection and all the different choices of area to sit in. Some real thought has gone into this place (for example, types of food, no smoking outside, coat hooks, bag hooks, plug points), which is rarely seen. If I lived here nearby, I would eat here VERY OFTEN. Great service, too.

Nestled in the heart of Basel's Old Town, Gifthüttli is a cozy and rustic restaurant known for its hefty local dishes and a wide selection of beer and wine. Despite its name, which references an early 20th-century promotion about off-brewery beer being poisonous, this charming spot offers a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The restaurant has been in operation for hundreds of years and has a proud history. The dining room has lots of character and the patio has umbrellas and is large and spacious. Menu is multi-lingual. My order included 2 draft beers from their extensive beer menu, a side of spatzi potatoes (a rather large order and a dish made of dark bread soaked in white wine and baked with lots of cheese (kind of a grilled cheese sandwich). Everything was tasty and sufficient for 2 people. The bill was SF49.80.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The schnitzel tasted simply delicious. I also tried the apple ring dessert, and it was so good I finished it in seconds. Even the coffee stood out; it was so rich and flavorful, I felt like I’d been transported to Italy for a moment. The atmosphere is another highlight. I really appreciated the old rustic charm, which made for a peaceful and cozy Sunday lunch. It wasn’t crowded when I visited, but I’d recommend reserving a table just in case—larger groups do come here, and it might be harder to find a spot sometimes. The staff were friendly and welcoming. After my meal, I stayed at my table for a while to relax, and the waiters were kind enough not to rush me or make me feel like I had to leave. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to add some sauerkraut, bratwurst, and knödel to the menu. I know it’s not part of the local cuisine, but it would’ve been a great addition and something I’d personally love to eat. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely be coming back!
Andrii B — Google review
Went there for a family dinner. Dinner was nice. They also have 1 vegan option which was also pretty okay. I don’t understand why they don’t have a vegan cordonbleu made from fake meat but a vegetarian option is always better than non. But for this price I would have expected a bit more. The others had meat options which was apparently really delicious but once again to pay +30 chf WITHOUT a side is a more than expensive. Now to the drinks: we paid more fore 1l of still water than for a glass of wine which is just NOT understandable. I understand that this restaurant is rather pricey also considering the quality of the food. But to charge 10.50.- for still water is just Kriminal at this point. Ambiente was okay, very rustical and traditional kitchen. Experience was okay, wouldn’t go a second time tho. So if you want a very overpriced meal in the best cordonbleu- restaurant in Basel, go for it and tick it off you bucket list.
Leela E — Google review
An excellent little restaurant with some very creative takes on Cordon Bleu! Great service, great food. It is pricey (like most restaurants in Switzerland!) and it's smoking friendly which might be an issue for non-smokers. At the end of the day, I did enjoy my visit.

Ufer7 Basel is a popular casual eatery located by the Rhine River, offering a diverse menu featuring burgers, fish, and chicken. The restaurant is perfectly positioned near one of the best swimming spots on the Rhine and specializes in regional Swiss sharing plates. During the warmer months, an outdoor food stall adds to the dining options, while winter brings cheese fondues indoors. The restaurant's rustic-chic interior complements its wonderful terrace overlooking the river.
Very surprised about this location. Been there for a birthday meal, it was top from beginning to the end. Queerbeet starters were the highlight foodwise, so tasty and refined. A shoutout to our server who was simply outstanding. Perfect knowledge of food and beverage, high English speaking skills, an example how it should be done.

A charming spot just by the water with lovely and helpful staff. The selection of food is rather limited to basically one of each standard animal you would expect to find in a restaurant and one or two vegetarian options. I rather enjoyed all that was on offer but I could imagine a world where I want some beef that is not of the Stroganoff variety and end up being discontent. Today was certainly not that day so I enjoyed the meal and would certainly come back to try other things from their menu.

We were out 5, trying all appetizers (my favorite was the bone with the marrow), then beef, vegetarian and fish dishes. All were really good. Bottled wine can be as cheap as 54 francs, water filtered but comes at cost. Portions are small but filling. Many Spritz available, not just the usual Gespritzter Wein and Aperol. We were sitting on the terrace, great view. Bit noisy from the street, but not disturbing. Service was excellent, by a lovely young waitress.

It used to be one of my favorite places in town, but sadly not anymore. The menu is now very limited, and everything is hugely overpriced, even by Swiss standards. The food is okay, but nothing special. It tries to come across as fancy and sophisticated, but the quality is often mediocre (though one salad was very good). The only real upside left is the location—right on the riverbank—but it can get quite noisy. At these prices, you can find truly fancy places nearby that offer top-quality food and a much better overall experience. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

Spending 5 nights in Basel visiting friends. Stopped at Krafft on their recommendation and was not disappointed. I was in a Junior Suite on the opposite side of the street from the main building and it was excellent. Very well sized and everything in the room was of a high quality. The service from everyone I met was exceptional - professional but very friendly and warm. I ate lunch in the restaurant and it was very good with first class service from Marcus (?) and the wine bar is well worth a visit for some high quality wine in a relaxed environment. Will definitely return.

Absolutely loved my stay at this cozy and welcoming hotel! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and everything is thoughtfully arranged to make guests feel at home. What really stood out was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff—always ready to assist with a smile and genuinely make your experience better. A special mention goes to the coffee machines and tea stations available on each floor—such a thoughtful touch! Having a fresh cup of coffee or tea just steps away from your room made mornings and evenings even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and little details that make a big difference! 🙂
Anahit K — Google review
Great looking hotel with everything you need, but way too loud. We had the room with the view on Rheingasse not the River. Even on the second floor it sounds like people are standing in your room. The windows have zero sound isolation and people were partying till 2am in the morning and Construction began at 7am. But even without construction the normal city noise at 6am woke me up already. You can hear every word of people passing. Ontop there is no way to darken the room the curtains do absolutely nothing. In itself a nice Hotel but i can go to nice places for atmosphere during the day, but if I book a Hotel I expect to sleep well and it was impossible to do here. I couldve slept better in my car in the parking lot. Breakfast was impeccable and service on point. Rooms were clean and you could get bathroom utensils like toothbrush/paste etc on the hallway same with coffee and tea. Please install good windows and invest in something to actually darken the room.

We stayed here our last night on a twelve day trip. It was a perfect ending! We floated the Rhine with the locals all day and ate at local restaurants and got Gelato twice! The room was huge and even had a disco room! Highly recommend!

Markthalle Basel is a popular indoor food market in Basel, offering a wide variety of international cuisines from different countries. The market features numerous stalls where visitors can sample diverse dishes and enjoy their meals at the large communal tables inside the unique building. In addition to the culinary offerings, Markthalle Basel hosts evening events and a weekly Sunday brunch known as 'Zmorgeland.' Families with children can take advantage of the small play area while parents dine at surrounding tables.
Loved this amazing international indoor food market!! So many different options - Thai, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, Israeli, Italian, Lebanese, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals from Taste of Jerusalem and Vietnamese and would definitely return to this gem in the heart of Basel.

Fantastic late meal at Flavours of Jerusalem was delicious all fresh food and freshly cooked, an amazing blend of flavors. . Best lamb cutlets I've ever had and I'm from the UK! Delicious home made lemon drink to go with it.

We had such a great lunch here! Tried the zucchini pasta with burrata and it was absolutely delicious – fresh, perfectly balanced flavors and really well made. The atmosphere in the Markthalle is relaxed but lively, and service was quick and friendly. Definitely a spot I’d come back to for authentic, simple but elevated Italian food. 🍝✨

10/10 Diverse food options from around the world. A great place to connect with people and enjoy the cuisine you prefer. From Parisian, Korean, and Thai to Italian, it has it all. On weekends, it can get quite busy. No table reservations possible unless it’s a corporate event.
Euro I — Google review
First of all its location is great, very close to Basel Station. The tram station is just outside. It's a huge hall under the biggest dome in Europe built in 1929. There are food stalls from almost all over the world. Beside there is a wine cellar and a big bar. On certain days in the morning they also sell fresh fruits and vegetables. Its a free seating. After you order your food, they give you a beeper. Meanwhile you can select your seating place. One can also sit on outdoor patio. After going through all stalls, we had our lunch at Goi's Thai Kitchen. The food and service was very good. However our favorite was Schokolade, a great place for deserts. We had Tiramisu and Chocolate cake, very yummy. Different stalls have different timings for opening and closing. Worth visiting...

Nomad Eatery & Bar in Basel is a quirky waterfront eatery with rustic decor that makes you feel like an adventurous explorer. The slightly mischievous staff deliver mouthwatering dishes, offering a memorable dining experience. On Sundays, they offer a unique brunch accompanied by live music and the option to upgrade with Spumante. The restaurant is part of Nomad Design & Lifestyle Hotel, known for its Scandi and concrete aesthetic.
A really cool concept, with a relaxing vibe and decor, where the emphasis is clearly on providing a high standard of experience. We ate the belly pork and pickled pumpkin as starters which were both individually lovely but also complimentary to each other. Then I got the bimbeumbap with chicken, and it was a substantial bowl and beautifully made. Washed down with the recommended lager we skipped desserts although they were all tempting, and rolled out very satisfied

Great place for Sunday brunch, with excellent service and a good choice of food. Good quality products, salami and cheese - top. Hot dishes and cold cuts, salmon, cava, pastries - all delicious. big questions to roast beef, sorry guys, it looks great, but very hard to chew. Overall, well done colleagues, thumbs up!!!
Dmitrijs L — Google review
The place looked great for lunch. Ordered Falafel for 24CHF and got 4 little slices with nothing but a little sauce. Could easily pass as little side-snack for your beer. When asked by the cashier how it was, I replied that the volume was not up to par. She ignored that. Nomad used to be the place to recommend to visitors, but it is now showing signs of decline.
Sebastian R — Google review
The place is buzzing with people every evening, has an amazing bar and serves delicious food! Cocktails are made professionally and served rapidly. If you're a burger fan, you must try the Nomad burger. Absolutely fantastic. Could do with a little bit more sauce for the fries, nevertheless, an excellent choice.

Love their Sunday brunches! Probably my favorite in Basel. The food is always fresh and they have champagne included😱 which is rare in basel. Great place for hang out, dates or whatever else! Their cocktails are also amazing

Place is beautiful. Maybe I didn’t get the message of the food. The one I ordered is the fish one. It is fish with tomatoes not quite something I would expect (not understanding the German menu and didn’t ask…). Taste wise it is ok, spicy for me. It is definitely not WOW effect for me. But place is good. Nice to sit and drink and chat.

Zum Isaak is a charming restaurant located opposite the Gothic Church in Basel. It offers a smart and simple setting with two outdoor seating areas, one overlooking the cathedral and the other in the back garden. The interior room provides a cozy atmosphere for work meetings or calls while maintaining its old charm. The restaurant serves Italian-influenced cuisine, including dishes like steamed cod on curry cream with paprika and risotto.
I had an incredible dining experience at Zum Isaak recently! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the staff, setting the tone for an enjoyable meal. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The menu had a great variety of dishes, and I was impressed with the quality of the food, and it exceeded my expectations—it was cooked to perfection, and the presentation was top-notch. The flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients felt fresh and of high quality. The service throughout the meal was attentive, but not overbearing, which really made the experience feel personalized. To finish, I had a desert and it was the perfect sweet ending to a great meal. Overall, I highly recommend Zum Isaak for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food in a welcoming atmosphere in the old part of town. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Adam R — Google review
At first glance, it may look like a tourist trap, but don’t be fooled—it’s a genuinely good restaurant. The food is exceptionally flavorful, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is cozy with a traditional interior. It’s exactly the kind of place I enjoy dining at. If there’s room for improvement, it would be slightly larger portions and perhaps the addition of schnitzel or cordon bleu to the menu. Overall, the taste, the ambiance, and the service are all excellent. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Andrii B — Google review
Nice place for dinner, the food was well prepared with a couple of fusion touches and flavours. Unfortunately the place was way too hot (not just my opinion, but the majority of our large group) l, with insufficient ventilation, making for an uncomfortable dinner experience.
Beat S — Google review
We chanced upon Zum Isaak on a late Sunday afternoon walking through Basel. Aside from being beautifully located on the square opposite the minster; we were looked after so nicely by all the staff. We have a 1 year old as well who was catered for and entertained by the team at Zum Isaak too. Our meal was delicious, the wine was exquisite & the poir William & ice cream desert was heavenly. Thank you for making our stay in Basel so lovely.

Terrace facing the church and internal garden terrace. Läckerli is a traditional spiced biscuit from Basel, made from honey, almonds, candied citrus peel, and a blend of spices like cinnamon and cloves. The dough is baked, cut into rectangles, and typically coated with a sugar glaze. Dense and chewy in texture, Läckerli is especially popular around holidays. The name comes from Swiss German: “läcker” means “tasty” (related to Standard German lecker), and “-li” is a diminutive suffix, so “Läckerli” roughly means “little tasty thing.”
Kent W — Google review
I recommend this restaurant for a mouthwatering (business) lunch in the garden or inside. They offer a daily dish (Tagesmenü) and a variety of menus e.g. fish with potatoes. It is also a great place to drop in on a Sunday afternoon after some activity with the kids for a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake. The restaurant is located just next to the Basler Münster.
Kevin L — Google review
We waited 30min and no one really cares about us. I have to go inside and complain about it. Curiously, it was not the case of the other tables were people spoken german. Service was really awfull. One of the worst in my life. If I could I would have set 0 star. One of the waitresses was really lost, didn't know what to do. Other tables were served and the other waitress came to take our order again. 1 hour to be served, no really excuse, no commercial gesture. Food was OK at least. Just go elsewhere especially if you are strangers

Restaurant Chez Donati is a beloved establishment that has been serving traditional Piedmont cuisine for over 70 years. The menu features classic pasta, fish, and meat dishes, as well as delightful antipasti and decadent desserts. The elegant atmosphere has received a gentle refresh by new owners in 2020. With stunning views of the Rhine from its sought-after terrace, this Basel institution maintains its long-standing traditions while attracting gourmets near and far.
We were difficult and noisy customers (14 people) but the service as IMPECCABLE! They always smiled and were super helpful! The food was delicious and fresh, desserts were to die for! Would totally go back and recommend it!!

Nice traditional location, professional service, classic Italian menu. The BEST is the desert wagon - a huge selection of deserts to mix and match from, I mixed three pieces (incl an amazing tiramisu), and it’s definitely the best part of the entire experience, so leave space! One star less for the wine selection… I don’t understand how a restaurant can be part of Bindella and not have a broader selection of old wines - it really just doesn’t square with the restaurant either.
Alex Z — Google review
Really nice restaurant, with a nice deco. The dinner service was done very professional and friendly. The dishes were well presented. The quality was good, but nothing exceptional. The dishes (both pasta and meat) were missing taste. The pasta (tagliatelle, tagliolini) were cook al dente but not much taste.
Luca — Google review
The outdoor area was filled with pizza lovers but if you like some peace and quiet from the busy shopping area outside, the second floor is a good option. It is fine dining although the clients are of the casual types. The place is also filled with art and a lot of bronze sculpture. Starters, main course and the amusing dessert rolling station are all exceptional. The service staff are like figures from a 50s black and white movie with impeccable manners and service. The filleted Branzino with fresh spinach is an outstanding choice for pescatarians.
The L — Google review
Climbing the narrow staircase to the first floor, you push open the door and step straight into timeless Italy. Donati is far more than a restaurant—it’s an experience. The bustle of the outside world just fades away And then there’s the chariot des desserts—my true Madeleine de Proust, awakening cherished memories with every bite. The cuisine is superb, but it’s this sense of traveling through space, time, and memory that makes a meal here unforgettable.

We had booked here for a special event based on my friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. As it was a summer evening, we sat outside on the balcony and enjoyed the stunning views onto the Rhine. Service was very good and charming, the scaloppine al limone tart and just the way I like it. Whilst I only had a couple of spoons of the tiramisu, it was excellent.

In Basel, blindekuh offers a truly unique dining experience by serving global cuisine in complete darkness to enhance the senses of taste, touch, and sound. The restaurant employs blind or visually impaired staff and was originally established to create job opportunities for this community. Guests can choose from a menu before entering the dark dining room or opt for a surprise multi-course meal and guess the dishes as they eat. This concept not only provides an intriguing culinary adventure but also supports an altruistic cause.
Mystery menu (3course) & cocktails. (See photo for dining room and meal) Service was excellent from start to finish, attentive and professionally correct with a friendly reassuring style. Food was really well planned and was surprisingly large portions (I guess in case you can't find it on your plate). Will I go back? Absolutely. will I take others, absolutely. Big thanks to Anja for making our dinning experience so enjoyable.

I liked the idea a lot, the staff was so friendly and helpful. But the dish was like a small portion of snacks, you can't call it a dish, we were waiting for the main dish!!! the tables and chairs also are too cheap, not because there's no lights they keep the furniture as cheap as possible? You don't need light to feel the comfort!!

It is an incredibly eye-opening experience. It raises awareness on blindness and the challenges that it can bring in our daily life. I loved the 4 courses menu: eating in complete darkness of course challenges you in trying to depict what you're eating and which flavors are in your plate. Also shout out to Bernie, our waitress. She is amazingly fast and ready to accomodate your wishes. I highly recommend this place for a different dinner night out.

Mark G — Google review
Subject: Serious Concern Regarding Recent Dining Experience Dear im Ackermannshof Team, I’m writing to express my deep disappointment with a recent dinner at your restaurant, which sadly caused me significant physical discomfort and has shaken my trust in a place I once considered a favorite. When I arrived, your waitress kindly assured me that my dietary requirements—lactose intolerant, vegetarian, and no alcohol—would be fully accommodated across the 4-course menu. I appreciated this, as I always communicate these clearly due to the severe discomfort I experience if they are not followed. Unfortunately, the dishes served to me included buffalo mozzarella, fried feta cheese, and undercooked eggs, all of which I would not have expected based on my restrictions. I ate them, trusting that my needs had been taken into account, but not long afterward, I began experiencing severe bloating and pain, to the point I could barely sit still. I spoke with the waitress during the meal, but was told the chef was too busy to address the issue. I ended up paying 400 CHF (with tip) for a dinner that made me sick. This experience was not only disappointing but physically distressing. At the very least, I would have expected your team to take responsibility immediately and offer an appropriate response. I urge you to take dietary restrictions more seriously moving forward, and I would appreciate hearing how you plan to address this.

From the chef's recommendations, to the server's elegant and knowledgeable level of service - we were more than impressed and immediately trusted that they understood our needs. I sincerely look forward to dining here again, and discover the menu in greater depths with the restaurant's well curated design furniture and ambience. Kudos to the team for your on-going passion and contribution to the industry.

Cafe
Nestled across the Rhine from the bustling Markthalle, KLARA 13 AG offers a charming escape into Kleinbasel's more relaxed and bohemian atmosphere. This laid-back food court features nine diverse international kitchens, each serving up mouthwatering dishes that reflect global flavors. From the beloved tacos al pastor at La Taqueria to traditional Ethiopian and Senegalese delights at AfroLicious, including injera sourdough pancakes and maffe peanut stew, there's something for every palate.
Great food court with an alternative touch in the heart of Zurich. Many food options and a well stocked bar at the center. Fun decoration and eclectic design. If you are new in the city or looking for things to do, go to the toilet downstairs and study the hundreds of flyers advertising events, concerts, etc. the joint also has a cabaret stage in the back.

The setting is a self service, street food like, but the price as high as the most restaurant. I had much better version of Buncha in a resto with the same amount of money, 23 CHF. The salad that came with empanada was one of the worst, the string beans were so overcooked, the each ingredients were not appetizing at all. I think I will not return here.

A good market offering a selection of cuisines. African, Indian, Italian, Vietnamese, and a few more. I had pho and spring rolls, which were delicious. Good atmosphere, too. There are plenty of tables to sit at, as well as a bar. Compared to other restaurants in Basel, the prices are reasonable. There is a tram stop right outside and the market is accessible.

Central, easy to find, uncomplicated, casual place. I love the diverse food court, option for events as well as the bistro/bar. I come here to either meet with friends or with ppl who are not from Basel, makes it easier to accommodate different moods on food and/or available budget. This place works so well because there is no table service, you get your own food, pay on the spot and you bring back your own tableware to the designated station after you have finished. This can feel a bit impersonal if you are not used to this kind of settings, but I appreciate that sometimes. You can eat-in as well as take out and some of the food stands offer delivery within the individual opening hours. Seating inside as well as outside. Side note: It's not allowed to consume food or drinks that you did not buy there.

Roots is a sophisticated and elegant restaurant located in the Rhypark event venue, offering a mostly vegetarian culinary experience with some fish and meat dishes. The establishment boasts a glamorous and modern interior, as well as a terrace overlooking Basel's old town and the Rhine. It is known for its haute cuisine, with Pascal Steffen at the helm focusing on vegetable-centric creations. The Michelin-starred restaurant provides a very pleasant dining experience, making it an ideal choice for date nights in summer.
A sumptuous experience for the eyes and the palate. Excellent service and a beautiful setting overlooking the Rhine. Mostly vegetarian with a few meat and fish courses. A chef who appeared twice to connect with us and expressed genuine delight and humility at our enjoyment of the whole experience. Every team member was unobtrusive but attentive. The wine pairing was superb as each sip enhanced the flavours on one’s plate. An excellent experience and well deserving of two Michelin stars.

Went here to celebrate a special birthday and had a wonderful night. This is exactly the type of high-end restaurant which was missing in Basel. The new location is lively, stylish and suits the service and food & beverage offered. Very cool & knowledgeable service team and heartfelt interactions from the chef and kitchen team. I went to roots to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we walked we felt special. The personnel was amazing, very kind and attentive and everyone, chef included, gave me birthday wishes. For the menu we chose the 8 plates menu and I think it was perfect from quantity and quality (2 entree, 2 first, 2 mains and 2 desserts). The food was simply spectacular, few ingredients but so nicely assembled and thought of. Beautiful plates and super tasty and genuine food. We loved that they use regional and seasonal product whenever they can. The restaurant is quite minimal decorated but once it is full (which it was) it was a very cozy ambient. We will definitely return to try out more plates!

Nomad Design & Lifestyle Hotel Basel is a trendy 4-star property located in the Vorstadte district of Basel. The hotel offers stylish quarters, a cool restaurant, and a bar. It's within walking distance of cultural attractions like Basler Munster and Fine Arts Museum Basel. The hotel features 59 rooms with garden views, as well as amenities such as free loaner bikes and storage for belongings.
Very well located, clean, convenient, quiet apartment hotel that is reasonably priced. Close to public transportation, Schoenberg, grocery store, KaDeWe and many other stores. My one bedroom apartment with a balcony was spacious and well appointed. Despite no front desk the staff was very attentive to solving a problem I had when I was there. Also, a washer and dryer is available for ultimate convenience.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Everything was very nice — the place was beautiful and spotless, and the room was fresh and comfortable. The breakfast was incredible, and the staff was always kind and helpful. We had a small issue during our stay, but the manager stepped in and helped us solve it quickly, for which we are truly grateful. Overall, a great experience and we’d definitely recommend it!

Clean, beautiful design hotel. Excellent service. Clean modern gym, you can reserve sauna for private use. Breakfast is delicious. Location excellent, and my favorite plus was that every floor has their own beverage station with still or sparkling water from a tap, and espresso maker and tea with fresh fruit 24hrs a day

Stayed in Basel a few times...this is one of the nicest hotels I have used. Very friendly team...modern vibe. Lovely rooms, good breakfast and handy location....tram stop just around the corner. Would recommend and will be heading back for my next trip to Basel.

Great hotel, great design and good service. Room very comfortable with a super king bed, quality linens and ultra quiet. However the bed is very soft and only two pillows are provided. The hotel has a restaurant/bar, co working space, gym and sauna. Love the design and concept. Excellent location.

Perfect place to stay in Basel! Nice hotel, perfect location and super friendly staff. The breakfast buffet offers everything you"ll need to have a solid start into the day and beyond! Last but not least: The parking indoor is very convenient in case you travel by car! You wont use it for your time in Basel since the hotel provides you the Basel card with free public transportation.

"Stillness & Style at Nomad Hotel" I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I had the chance to do a creative shoot at Nomad. The space is stunning — modern, calm, and full of character. The team was warm, professional, and open to sharing the spirit of the place. Sharing a short video from the session to offer a glimpse into the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place that blends design, soul, and serenity — Nomad might be worth a visit.

We stayed at NOMAD over the weekend. It has been a great experience. The room was very generous, stylish mainly concrete and warm wood. We loved the impressive high ceilings and accordingly doors, the very big shower and the minimalistic design of the furniture. Comfortable bed, natural linen, and ecological attention were also a plus point. So as the caffe, tea and water facilities at the rooms floor. Very nice and cosy library..don't miss it ! Very good and various breakfast. A young ,stylish cosy and welcoming hotel . Will come back for sure

Chocolate shop
Located in the old town of Zürich, Xocolatl GmbH offers a variety of Swiss chocolate brands including Rehmann and La Flor. The store is important to know its producers and suppliers personally because their products have a significant value for fair trade and sustainable practices. In addition to hot chocolate drinks, you must try their Schoggi!
My friend took me to this shop and café a couple of weeks ago, and I’m so happy she did! The atmosphere is super nice and classy, and the shop offers uncountable quality chocolates from all over the world. We were lucky to get a table in the café, where my friend drank some hot chocolate, I got a milky coffee (unfortunately they didn’t have decaf), and we shared the Kongo Tarte au chocolat with rosemary and salted almonds, which was surprisingly tasty. They have dozens and dozens of hot chocolates on the menu, as well as several chocolate cakes, your standard hot and cold beverages, and some sweet and savory non-chocolate options, so I believe anyone can find something they like here.

Amazing chocolate that isn't presented in such a pretentious manner like the other confectionery shops in Basel. Their chocolate cakes are rich and dense, the hot chocolates are velvety and beautiful. Their own brand chocolate bars are also delicious and a reasonable price. The olive oil one is something special. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Loved this place.
Basil Y — Google review
Grabbed the chocolate cherry tortes and the rosemary and salted almond one. Absolutely dreamy. Think ganache with a slight crust of having met an oven at some point in its lifetime. At CHF6.50 a slice that's very reasonable for the standard and quality of ingredients. They'd definitely charge more in London. Lovely staff as well.

A fantastic spot to spend an hour on a dreary day Don't be afraid to try the cold chocolate drink as well as the hot- both are great. The chocolate torte (xocolatl-tarte) is also incredible and rich.

Swiss restaurant
Nestled in a stylish, riverside hotel, Brasserie Les Trois Rois offers a decadent experience with classic Swiss and French dishes served alongside an impressive selection of beer and wine. Housed in a grand 19th-century building overlooking the Rhine, this brasserie has been frequented by politicians and royalty for over a century. The individually designed rooms exude Neo-classical charm while offering modern amenities.
Right on the Rhine River this is my favorite French restaurant in Basel. It is definitely formal and a bit expensive but not expensive compared to restaurants in other larger cities like NYC or Paris or Michelin starred prefix menus. I feel that it is totally worth it especially if you’re a tourist and really want to soak in some of the best sites of the city. The restaurant has a very romantic vibe so it would be great for a date, dinner with friends or family, or something more social versus a business location. Our server was extremely polite and all around there was top-notch five star service. Everything that we ordered came out pretty fast and to say that they were very attentive would be an understatement. I started off my meal with a really nice glass of Bordeaux and it really got my hunger going for what was ahead. For my starter I chose the Saumon Marine which is basically a Salmon Crudo and I thought it was great. It was light and refreshing and woke up my taste buds for my entrée, which was the Sole Meunière. I’ve had this dish many times in my life at many different locations and this was one of the better ones I’ve had in a long time. It was made perfectly and the flavors lasted throughout the rest of the night. I would highly recommend ordering it and I also would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was one of our more memorable moments of our time in Basel.

My husband and I celebrated a wedding anniversary at The Brasserie. It was a perfect evening; we thoroughly enjoyed the upscale ambience, the view of the beautiful Rhine, the personable service and of course the exquisite food and drinks. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr David and Mr Hervé: they both made our time at the restaurant extra special with their warm humour and sincere friendliness. The entire team signed a hand-written card for our anniversary - a memory we will cherish forever. Thank you all so much! ❤️ We think you are world-class and we can’t wait to be back.

Brasserie Les Trois Rois – Basel, Switzerland An unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Basel. I enjoyed a candlelit dinner at the Brasserie and it was flawless from start to finish. The ambiance strikes that rare balance between elegance and warmth — perfect for both private evenings and hosted client dinners. The menu was beautifully curated, rooted in Swiss and French tradition, with every dish plated like art and full of flavor. Service was attentive even on a very busy night, and you could feel the team’s commitment to creating a memorable experience for every guest. If you’re in Basel and want to experience timeless European dining with impeccable hospitality, the Brasserie Les Trois Rois is a must. - Michelle

Wow, 5 stars for food, ambiance, and service. Each dish was so well executed. I had the turbot with risotto; the fish was perfectly tender, and I loved the tangy sauce that tied the risotto together. The salad was also excellent- so fresh, with crunchy, flavorful bits on top and just the right amount of dressing. And I love that they wheel out their dessert offerings so you can point and choose, like a dim sum cart ha! :)

We visit Basel once a year from Italy and each year we always have dinner here. It is always a highlight of our trip. Truly one of the best dining experiences from the time you arrive until the time you leave. Mr. Mahler, the restaurant manager sets a wonderful tone for the experience with his passion for providing an amazing, memorable experience. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Daniele. He gladly accommodated our request to sit at a table of our waiter, Francesco. Francesco is the epitome of excellence. His passion for providing an exceptional experience is only surpassed by his knowledge and kind, warm demeanor. We look forward to seeing him each time, a wonderful man. Bravo Francesco. The meal itself, is always exceptional. The menu provides both imaginative and traditional French and Swiss cuisine. The quality of the elements and wonderful flavors always the best. The atmosphere, overlooking the Rhine with candlelit tables and warm decor ties it all together, in a truly memorable experience. Thank you and see you next year!

Za Zaa is a calm, light-filled Lebanese restaurant that specializes in shared small plates. The menu includes many different types of Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes, as well as Middle Eastern and Persian options. There is also a full bar serving wine and beer, as well as healthy drinks. The restaurant has outdoor seating, wheelchair access, and accepts American Express, Mastercard, Visa. There is free wifi for guests.
Really nice place, great service. Food was delicious and served quickly. The restaurant was full with locals which is always a good sign. The menu is varied. Important note - they do not serve meat. Shakshuka was delicious, and the cold mezze as well. Recommended!
Miri T — Google review
If you’re looking for an authentic Lebanese or Arab restaurant, Za Zaa - Lebanese Soul Food is not the place for you. Despite its name, this is actually a vegetarian restaurant, with only two or three Lebanese-inspired dishes on the menu. The rest of the food has little to do with Lebanese or Middle Eastern cuisine. That being said, if you’re vegetarian or vegan, you might enjoy the variety of plant-based dishes they offer. However, be prepared for high prices, as the food is quite expensive for what you get. The restaurant is also very crowded, which can make it a bit uncomfortable during peak hours. On the positive side, the staff is highly professional and quick, ensuring a smooth dining experience. If you’re specifically searching for Lebanese food, I’d recommend looking elsewhere, but if you’re open to a vegetarian menu and don’t mind the price, you might enjoy it.

Delicious food, good and nice service. One of the best Lebanese restaurants I have eaten in. Hummus is especially tasty. Make sure you reserve when you want a table on the terrace in the evening!
Peter S — Google review
We were at Zazaa today for lunch and thought there would be meat, but one of the male staff treated us a little strangely and too nicely, as if we were children or because we were women. That was upsetting for us. We left the restaurant because we wanted to eat meat. The atmosphere and the other staff were nice and it also smelled good. So, this restaurant is definitely good for vegetarians.

Stumbled upon this restaurant on my way back to hotel Rochat, and the smell of food was wavering to the street. The waitresses Sam, Debbi and Laura were very warm and friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and fulfilling and the atmosphere was relaxing with the oriental decor and the little Persian style carpets. Would definitely visit again and again

I love this restaurant always visit once a month ! But when it’s a bit full the service is bad honestly asked twice for something and got ignored. Cuisine is good !
Myriam L — Google review
We went to eat at Zazaa with a group today. The food was okay, but a little too bland for my taste. However, the restaurant is very attractive and pretty throughout. The waiter who served us, on the other hand, was not so great. He was inattentive, didn't really take care of us and played around on his mobile phone from time to time. He was actually more interested in the female guests sitting with us. Was a bit annoying honestly… At least the other staff were very nice and friendly.
Olaf K — Google review
Left Without Ordering- lots of young waitstaff at the hostess station and lots of empty tables. They seated us right next to an office door that opens and closes and one person can only look at the door. We asked to move to one of the many other open two seat tables but were told that they were all reserved? Did not like his attitude. Then we realized the appetizer plate was dirty with a visible streak of something left on it. Left without ordering. I know they know we’re just tourists and that they’ll never see us again but that’s just not good business.

Restaurant Löwenzorn, also known as "lion's fury," is a popular dining spot in the historical area near Marktplatz in Basel. Despite its intimidating name, it offers traditional Swiss dishes in a charming rustic setting. The building has a rich history dating back to 1327 and was once owned by the Mitz family, former mayors of Basel. Today, it is an elegant restaurant with friendly multilingual staff and quick service.
It wasn't my first visit to this restaurant, but it was definitely memorable this time again, especially since I had a larger group of ten people with me. Half of them were from the other side of the globe, from Australia. This restaurant is one of the best in Basel, offering exceptional food, a special friendly atmosphere, and an ideal central location. Highly recommended for expats, tourists, and visitors!

Great place to try good quality Swiss beef. The veal schnitzel was perfectly cooked and the accompanying vegetables were so flavourful and roasted to perfection. I'd be eating here every day of it was not so expensive 🫰
Ava ( — Google review
The service was very kind and even spoke English but sadly we can’t give it more than 3 stars as the value for money was not justified and food was forgettable. We had two types of sausages (white and standard) and the broccoli in vinaigrette. They could improved it with better pretzel and bread, and with some nice butter. The rosti could be done better too (potatoes more caramelised). We liked that they offered locally brewed beer though. Would go again if right occasion came
Jessica S — Google review
Restaurant Löwenzorn is such a popular local restaurant that it's always full !!! During summer they let customers sit outside at their courtyard, a very relaxing dining environment. Ordered one of their specials, Vitello Tonnato, which is cold roast beef served with tuna sauce, you know what, this is one of the perfect chemistry I've ever had in my mouth, with the decorations of capers in the mix of flavors, OMG, you have to order this dish !!! I will definitely look forward to come here again during winter to sit in the indoor dining area of this almost 600 years old historical landmark, a lovely traditional swiss wooden decorated place.

With a location at Marktplatz, it provides a delightful experience with its confectionery and beautiful views of Rathaus and Marktplatz from the window seats.

The tea room upstairs is kind of a hidden gem but a local favorite. If you are in mood for a low key authentic and rich atmosphere this is the place. Has cool pictures of old Town Basel on walls.
Jim E — Google review
Nobody was interested at our arrival. No suggestions, no efforts in speaking English, the Sacher tort was not the original recepee at all and it was impossible to finish. Service could be better, pastries could be better, only the place is an ancient palace absolutely stunning, but It should be renovated with a better quality seats and wall covering. Try another pastry shop/coffee in Basel.
Miriam B — Google review
The staff is poorly trained and somewhat understaffed. I came twice last week and left both times after waiting over 10 minutes without being served. Service is excruciatingly slow (even by Swiss standards). A few other customers have recently noted the same issue as well. On previous visits, I had to go to the food stand myself to ask to pay or flag down a waiter, often feeling like I was bothering them. Now, they simply do not bother to come at all. There seems to be no awareness of which table needs what or who is still waiting. P.S. I do not expect a response. I may give it another try in half a year, but if the service remains the same, I will neither return nor recommend this place to any of my many international friends.

ONO is a cosmopolitan eatery with floor-to-ceiling windows, vaulted ceilings, and wide-open spaces that allows guests to escape the hustle and bustle of the Old Town. The restaurant offers a regular place for patrons after spending time in the nearby University for drinks and good company. The staff is nice, but not too grateful, which adds to the casual atmosphere of ONO.
Stopped in for a quick bite and absolutely loved it!! The beef tartar was the best I’ve ever had, anywhere. Wine was good too. It took a really long time for the food to come out but I was in good company so I didn’t mind. Enjoyed people watching outside. We left to find something else to eat but quite honestly we should have just ordered more here. I would go back when in the area.

We had a great/decent dinner I had to adjust my review from 4 to 2. I went with friends for a drink and was super excited to see they had fresh Guinness, but unfortunately, it was the worst Guinness I have ever had! I was so disappointed. 0/5 when it’s come for their Guinness.
Dolev C — Google review
Food was good although the portions rather small given the price you pay for a main course. The service tonight was rather slow which kills the experience for a great meal. Positive is the wine selection, both white and red we had were very nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very good; you can start with a nice drink or cocktail at the bar before you go upstairs for the meal which I like about this place. Overall a good experience and a nice place for a good dinner, again, the prices for the main courses are rather at the higher end of the scale, hence only 3 stars - for those prices I expect better/fast and more attentive service.
Claude K — Google review
I would give this bar/cafe no stars if I could. I dared to sit outside and whilst there for nearly 2 hours NO ONE came outside to take my order. I had to go in both times to order something. Shocking! They even came outside to other tables but entirely overlooked me. Then when paying, they couldn’t even put both items on the same bill, but made separate bills so I needed to pay twice separately for two drinks. As I was sitting outside, because it felt nice and fresh, the man who worked there told me at 8:30pm on a Friday night that he needed to clean up the outside area and chairs, essentially saying I should go! I’ve been to many places and by far this is the worst I’ve been treated. Won’t ever go there again.

Food was ok, but took exceptionally long (almost 1h for a sandwich and salad). It seemed like they had to run to the store to get some ingredients too.

Had a great casual lunch here. Overlooks a nice little intersection to watch as people and trams go by. Had a very large salad and sandwich split amongst two people. Service was a bit slower than the average we experienced, but also seemed a bit short staffed. Was overall a really nice meal though!
Dave S — Google review
Very friendly staff, great atmosphere and food was incredible. A little on the pricey side if you are used to prices outside of Switzerland but we found it to be on average with everywhere else. Wurst Salad quite possibly the best salad I have ever had, would definitely recommend!

Restaurant Rhywyera is an upscale dining spot located in a historic riverside house, offering a blend of creative international cuisine. The restaurant's elegant atmosphere is complemented by beautiful paintings adorning the walls, adding to its allure as part of Basel's top art destination. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining with a delightful view of the Rhine from the outdoor terrace.
Delicious restaurant. Has very nice terrace. Great Mediterranean atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great lunch menu and normalm plates looked very nice as well. In general a great restaurant.
Mario C — Google review
We had a double birthday celebration at the restaurant and it was a perfect choice. Quality of food is really good, service was impecable and we were lucky that it was a quite warm night so we enjoyed the terrace and the views over the river. Definitely a place to visit
ANTONIO R — Google review
Excellent restaurant with incredible food, amazing service, and a warm/inviting atmosphere tucked alongside Beautiful views of the city lit up at night. Try the pike perch entree and make a reservation (we walked in & snagged the last table by luck). The staff was exceptionally observant as they adapted our meal's pace to better match the slightly faster dining experience we have back in the states. I mention this because it takes a keen eye to recognize & adapt to a customer's dining pace, which Rhywyera's owner & his staff have mastered. Don't miss this gem.

My favourite restaurant in Basel! The redfish with celery mashed potatoes was divine! Fish was delicious and made to perfection and the celery addition to the mash was great, made the texture just perfect. The atmosphere is amazing, our table was overlooking the river and outside! Couldn't really ask for me!

This is by far the best experience you can possibly have in Basel!! We had a fondue night with our family and it’ll be unforgettable!!! To Bruno and Reinhardt, our biggest thank you!!!
Petra S — Google review
Great location in front of the Rhine river although the terrace is rather small. Been few times. Staff is nice and considerate although this last time we waited 30min for our meal, which I think is a bit too much for lunch. Food is ok without being spectacular, but fresh. Overpriced, 48 quid for a single meal with a coke.
Alexandre R — Google review
Had a lunch special, was good. If you get the good seats on the terrace, the view is nicer. If not the view is very restricted.
Zaya — Google review
Relaxing atmosphere - light and airy place on the river - food was delicious and the service was exceptional - our waiter was extremely accommodating and knowledgable of the city.

Restaurant Café Papiermühle is a charming spot for a leisurely meal or coffee, set against the backdrop of the paper mill's waterwheel. Whether you choose to dine in the medieval house or the streamside courtyard, you can enjoy daily specials like salads, quiches, soups, and pasta dishes from their hand-scrawled chalkboard menu. The restaurant also offers a variety of homemade cakes and snacks. Additionally, it is known for its high-quality food and friendly service.
Delicious food and refreshing home-made lemonades. The server was very nice and spoke English well. (Helpful for us English-speaking tourists).

Got the tarte flambee with bacon and onion and the bhudda bowl with tandoori chicken. The bhudda bowl is a variety of items in the salad but not really worth it for the price of 25 CHF. Not enough chicken The tarte flambee on the other hand was thin and delightful. Perfect for sharing. Nice atmosphere and good for a lunch meal before going to the paper mill musuem next door

Popped in during a thunderstorm to get out of the rain and enjoyed a Cappuccino and a slice of carrot cake. Loved the pub like atmosphere and service was great for the amount of people coming in at one time so close to closing.
Brett W — Google review
I had a fantastic time at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The location is perfect, right near the Rhine, and the terrace is especially lovely in the summer. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the view. The service was also top-notch — our waitress was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. On top of all that, the prices are very fair for the quality and setting. Highly recommended!

Exceptional Service for a Large Birthday Brunch!I recently celebrated my birthday with over 15 friends at the Papiermühle Café Sunday brunch, and the experience was absolutely outstanding! The service was genuinely supportive, friendly, and incredibly warm from the moment we arrived. They went above and beyond, allowing me to come in early to decorate our table with balloons and seamlessly handling the organization of my own birthday cake. The open buffet brunch was delicious, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and the time together. A major highlight is their attention to dietary needs: two of my friends are gluten-free, and they were thrilled to find excellent lactose-free and gluten-free options available, meaning no one had to miss out.At 33 CHF including one drink, the Sunday brunch is fantastic value. I always enjoy coming here, and I highly recommend Papiermühle Café, especially if you are planning a celebration or need to accommodate a large group!

I love this restaurant! They have fantastic service and fantastic food! It’s a great place to grab brunch with friends outside. They make all of their baked goods themselves and they are DELICIOUS. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem of Basel.

Have you wanted to experience the looks and smell of the water fairing Rhine going ships, while sitting in a unique restaurant, come and see the “rusty anker” ⚓️ rostiger Anker. Daily changing menues, fish and other local dishes, with a fresh beer or a good choice of wine, might be your future secret hiding spot, to escape the normal city life.

Great place for having a meal or just something to drink. Great view on the industrial part of the port. Good food. Very nice staff. Good price to value. Selection of open wines is so so, but some reasonable bottles. Sunday brunch is also good. In summer and especially around weekend evenings a reservation is recommended at least a week ahead.

Restaurant
Zum Goldenen Fass, located in Kleinbasel, is a trendy and quality restaurant with an informal atmosphere. The focus here is on local ingredients and a regularly changing menu rather than traditional offerings. The restaurant offers top-quality organic food with options for vegetarians. The wine list is excellent, and the atmosphere is friendly and attentive. While the service can be hit or miss at times, the unique takes on classic dishes and new culinary adventures make it a worthwhile dining experience.
I can't recall how I came upon the restaurant while planning for our trip, but the "radically seasonal, hyper-local" was the reason for us to get a reservation. The experience surpassed our expectations. Flavors were all incredibly unique and fantastic across the board. Dishes that sounded simple (fish and chips; braised onions) were distinctive and tasty, and what could have been predictable dishes (braised beef; plum crumble) far exceeded expectations. All of this in a cozy atmosphere with attentive service. HIGHLY recommend!
Aaron S — Google review
Unpretentious but high quality. Great service with a friendly smile. The asparagus and strawberries entree was particularly special and our main dish - the beef roulade- was just perfect. The menu is a little pricy but the quality is very high. You won’t regret it!
Mecene D — Google review
We came here by chance and loved everything about this place. The food is of high quality, delicious and all locally sourced. Service was fast and efficient. Atmosphere is great. The icing on the cake: they serve food until late and there are superb vegan and vegetarian options.
Julie K — Google review
Simple dishes with fresh local ingredients—you can really taste the freshness.
Sarah M — Google review
Decent place to meet friends or colleagues after work for a beer. The food is quite simple, not too elaborate, but well prepared. We ordered the soup of the day as an appetizer. It was a simple pumpkin puree soup, pleasant but not outstanding in flavor. As a main course we chose the frikadellen and Fish and Chips. The meatballs were well balanced, served with vegetables and sauce. The fish and chips were in a well done crispy batter. The only thing was that they were over salted. The main courses we had to wait for an hour, which is a bit long but not critical. For dessert we got sorbet and coffee, they were ok too In general, nothing outstanding, just a nice place with good food. I'd say this place is quite expensive for the food you're getting, but for Basel it's okay
Marina - — Google review
Thoughtfully put-together menu of seasonal ingredients. Nice atmosphere, if a touch cramped (our table for two had our table almost touching the adjacent one).
Daniel R — Google review
Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Basel. They use regional and seasonal products. Small but amazing menu.
Michael S — Google review
Absolutely fantastic. Atmosphere is friendly and attentive. Servers are helpful, funny, and have great suggestions. The food was delicious. Tasty takes on classics and new adventures, every mouthful was exquisite. Really enjoyed every minute. The real kicker is that all the food is local! But they mean it! So, no black pepper, no black tea, no lemons! They make do with everything else - we had a lemon tart, without lemons! But it tastes exactly like lemons! (Made from unripe grapes!) Definitely go, and be amazed at what they can do! I'll be going back :) PS - for the caffeine lovers, don't worry.. They have exactly one exception to the local rule... Coffee beans!

The Moroccan restaurant Sahara is a hidden gem with delicious food typical of the country. The outdoor and indoor seating is comfortable, and the owner is very welcoming. Title: A Hidden Gem for Moroccan Cuisine in Basel! If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in Basel, look no further than this delightful Moroccan restaurant! The culinary delights here are simply outstanding. From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed by the warm ambiance and the rich aromas of authentic Moroccan spices. The food is truly exquisite; every dish we've tried has been bursting with flavor and prepared to perfection. The highlight of our meal was the traditional Moroccan tagine, which was tender and beautifully seasoned. Pairing it with their refreshing green tea made for the perfect end to our meal. This restaurant undoubtedly deserves the title of the best in Basel for Moroccan cuisine. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food and a wonderful dining experience!

Manger & Boire is a charming bistro located in the bustling Gerbergasse shopping area of Basel. The restaurant offers a variety of Italian-inspired dishes, with some claiming it serves the best fresh pasta in the city. The daily menus feature options for vegetarians, fish lovers, and meat enthusiasts, while the a la carte menu clearly labels vegetarian and vegan items.
My wife and I were in Basel and stopped in for a coffee and pastry. Both were delicious. But what drives me to write this review is the people, the vibe and cafe itself. Very bohemian vibe in the heart of old town. We absolutely love that. The guy behind the bar and the gal serving were awesome. We had no idea where we were going but hoping to find a place like this and when we stopped in, the couple running the cafe were incredibly welcoming and made us feel completely comfortable. So friendly! We weren’t able to spend a lot of time here but as I was paying, I conversed with a super interesting customer. Again, epitome of a bohemian vibe and this fascinating dude was very much that. I highly recommend if you’re into such a cool place as we are and I sincerely hope we make it back to Basel and visit this cafe again!

The very best gnocchi Gorgonzola on the planet. I know. Make a reservation and sit upstairs at the window. Drink Unplugged Chardonnay and your taste buds will be happy for awhile. A dining adventure. Laid back, friendly, happy staff. Yes, the kind of place you want to frequent. Too bad I don't live in Basel. Next visit 1st stop on my list.

Friendly, cheerful, authentic. Good food at reasonable prices. My favourite place to meet up and feel at ease in Basel; although I confess I have stopped going anywhere else. As you step inside, it feels like local pubs did 50 years ago - in the best way! EDIT: Just been back. As good as ever. Lovely.
Bill Y — Google review
Charming with excellent service and great food. I would suggest the Unplugged Chardonnay. It will be my first stop when I return to Basel. The upstairs room was very quiet while downstairs was a bit raucous. Both are good. Your choice.

Great bar and restaurant for all occasions. Staff service is exceptional, and the food is delectable. Full bar with variety of beer and wine, also serves long drinks, tea, and more. Crowd ranges from young hipster type to older couples, friends, and travelers. Recommend for anyone passing through Basel.
Justin S — Google review
My favorite Bar/Pub. The selfmade Pasta is great and they have all the classic drinks and local beers. It is not too fancy so you can just relax and hang out. Service is friendly and enthusiastic. Interior is comfy and artsy...
Stephanie A — Google review
Lovely Italian restaurant in the middle of Basel, the gnocchi Gorgonzola was some of the freshest gnocchi I've ever had, and the antipasti were also delicious. Service is quite good, there is an upstairs dining room. French, German and English spoken.
Marc L — Google review
Really nice dishes, maybe a bit expensive, but quality is good. They changed their menu a few months ago and it's not the same anymore, they replaced the good dishes with a lot of vegetarian and vegan alternatives. Now they only have 1 ravioli and 1 pasta dish non vegetarian, sorry but sometimes I need proteins
