Nestled in the heart of Basel, MANOR Basel is a vibrant department store that caters to all your shopping needs. The grocery section offers a curated range of regional products alongside international brands. A highlight is the cafeteria-style restaurant called Manora located on the upper level.
A++ service today! I visited to buy a duffel bag for my wife and met Anna, who was incredibly helpful. She guided us to the men’s section to find the right colour, even carried the bag on her back to help us judge the size, and engaged kindly with my daughter. She went above and beyond, showing true professionalism and warmth. We purchased the bag and, thanks to this excellent experience, look forward to returning.

I had an excellent experience at Manor thanks to Zsanett in the makeup department. She was so professional and went above and beyond to help me. Truly outstanding service!

Reasonable and cheap place for buffet breakfast/lunch in Basel with a fairly wide selection. Not fine dining, but then we didn't expect it to be either. Nice views over Basel, not the best but nice. We ate here twice on a 3 day trip (one breakfast, one lunch) as it was convenient, simple and cheap more than anything else. Would go there again if in Basel for something quick, simple and hassle free.
Robert C — Google review
5 stars is for the Kiehls ladies who took care of us - lovely, professional and fun! We had a great laugh and love the products ♡

My wife and I had an excellent experience. The staff is so knowledgeable, helpful and eager to help. I saw a pair of pants upon entrance and I forgot the brand. Stephane, went downstairs to see the display, located the pants and size for me to try on. He went out of his way to be helpful and with a smile Thank you Stephane!!!!

A great 360 ° view of Basel on the outside terrace restaurant of the Manor shopping mall. Worth a walk across the river, enjoy the reasonable priced restaurant for a quick bite, breakfast, lunch, early dinner - before or after shopping on 5 floors

I made a large purchase and requested the tax documents and the employee told me that I didn’t need them, all I needed was my receipt. I got to the airport and the tax authorities tell me that I absolutely need the appropriate documents from the store.

Confectionery store
Confiserie Schiesser - since 1870 - Café, Tea-Room, Confiserie at Rathaus Basel is a historic establishment managed by the fifth generation of the Schiesser family. The bakery produces exquisite cakes while the café and tea room offer an old-world Swiss charm on the first floor. With a location at Marktplatz, it provides a delightful experience with its confectionery and beautiful views of Rathaus and Marktplatz from the window seats.
Really good quality black-forest cake. One of the best I have ever had. Latte macchiato and tea were also amazing. The vintage vibe of dinning in is wonderful. Highly recommend.
Oh Z — Google review
Nice spot with an amazing view on the main square of Basel. Macchiato was spot on and the sweat treat was excellent! Well done for the service, the lady was multitasking and friendly. Even her Majesty has tasted this sweets, her letter is shown in the shop!
Merges R — Google review
One of the best known and oldest cafes & confiseries of Basel, set in a beautiful sandstone building overlooking its fairytale town hall. The pastries & chocolates are very high quality. The tearoom upstairs is an elegant old charmer perfect for an afternoon tea.
Carlos O — Google review
A must-visit in Basel every time! I first came here almost 30 years ago and it’s still as charming as ever. Lovely café with timeless atmosphere, delicious cakes, and warm service right by the Rathaus!
Jeannette — Google review
The tea room upstairs is kind of a hidden gem but a local favorite. If you are in mood for a low key authentic and rich atmosphere this is the place. Has cool pictures of old Town Basel on walls.
Jim E — Google review
Nobody was interested at our arrival. No suggestions, no efforts in speaking English, the Sacher tort was not the original recepee at all and it was impossible to finish. Service could be better, pastries could be better, only the place is an ancient palace absolutely stunning, but It should be renovated with a better quality seats and wall covering. Try another pastry shop/coffee in Basel.
Miriam B — Google review
The staff is poorly trained and somewhat understaffed. I came twice last week and left both times after waiting over 10 minutes without being served. Service is excruciatingly slow (even by Swiss standards). A few other customers have recently noted the same issue as well. On previous visits, I had to go to the food stand myself to ask to pay or flag down a waiter, often feeling like I was bothering them. Now, they simply do not bother to come at all. There seems to be no awareness of which table needs what or who is still waiting. P.S. I do not expect a response. I may give it another try in half a year, but if the service remains the same, I will neither return nor recommend this place to any of my many international friends.
Animhata A — Google review
Historical coffee dessert place which services lunch as well. The 1870 establishment has a fantastic view of Basler Rathaus, from the outdoor and the second floor. Lunch was pleasant, small tart with asparagus and pilz-schnitte, brioche toast in mixed mushroom sauce.

GLOBUS | Basel Provisorium (Neu: Freie Strasse 50) is a temporary but well-stocked department store in Basel's old town. It offers a mix of high-end fashion, beauty products, and housewares. The food hall boasts a stellar selection of gourmet items, although prices are on the higher side. The staff is friendly and helpful without being overbearing.
Location is right in city center. Good quality brands and real discounts. Some of the staff speaks english. Easy to walk artond.
Florin T — Google review
Variety and options in delicatessen that you might not find anywhere else in the city. Quality safe but not necessarily top. Overpriced, probably charging for location and brand. Similar and greater quality food for better prices easily found in other markets around town.
Alexandros P — Google review
Bought something from their online shop and trying to return within six month due to faulty, they’ve declined my request from the store as it is the responsible of the e-commerce team. By the time I manage to reach the online commerce team via phone calls, they insist on saying that my order was over a year long(which it isn’t, because tomorrow is when I placed an order a year ago), because of the wrongly interpretation hence why they are not able to do anything for this item. Ridiculous irresponsible customer service and would not recommend for anybody that wish to have a smooth customer experience or warranty for their products. Buy from Galaxus at least they won’t brush you off like this….
Lucy M — Google review
Went today to buy sneakers. The salesperson : Miss Jeanine. Took the sneakers I had in my hand ( planning to buy 2 pairs) to give it to another customer that had the box. I told her I have it since I arrived and I’m buying it, apparently she doesn’t care because they had the box. The real story they had champagne and she openly discriminated me!!!! I went to complain to the store manager, who was extremely welcoming, sorry and polite. It is outrageous if a store keep a shameful, impolite and insulting person! I hope you will consider it, especially when having the Globus franchise!!!

Souvenir store
In the heart of Basel's Old Town, the Johann Wanner Christmas House is a must-visit destination for those seeking high-quality artisanal Christmas decorations. Spanning 5000 square feet, this year-round shop offers an explosion of festive ornaments and trinkets. The city itself transforms during late November into one of Switzerland's largest and most beautiful Christmas markets, with nearly 200 shops and boutiques offering an array of gifts and treats.
What a marvel in the middle of Basel. I was born here and also grew up here. Nevertheless I have never been in this shop ever before. I always thought that I don't need any christmas decorations. Well, that was until today 😃. Now I have my decorations ready for 2025 🤩. What I also appreciate: the decorations are made in Europe (Germany, Poland & the 3rd country I cannot recall).
Anna C — Google review
It's a wonderful place, and although I didn't take many photos, you can see from the few photos that there are many options if you want to buy a souvenir. Some are colorful, some are small, and some are well made. In this store, you will most likely find a gift or souvenir that you like. In addition, this store has a Christmas area, and when you walk into this area, you will feel the joy of Christmas around you, and you can pick out all kinds of Christmas decorations.
Joseph B — Google review
It seems that the most intriguing aspect of this beautiful shop hasn't been mentioned yet. If you're visiting from an English-speaking country, you'll be amazed by the incredibly long and complex name of the shop. It's truly remarkable to think about such a lengthy German/Swiss name, with some visitors even counting the letters. One of Basel's must-visit shops!
Zsolt T — Google review
A beautiful shops with lots of hidden gems. Enter past the till area into the back of the store to discover wonderful Christmas treasures displayed with such care and detail. It was so magically coming to the store even if it was summer and 38 degrees outside 🤣
Mrs P — Google review
Incredibly cozy and beautiful store. I advise everyone to come and buy Christmas toys for the house or just come in for a New Year's mood.
Mikhail — Google review
Lovely place with very friendly staff. Perfect for locals or tourists who want a Christmas experience - any time of the year. They also have plenty of Souvenirs and typical ‚swiss‘ gifts to choose from!
Abi C — Google review
If I could give 0 stars I would. I walked into this store with my friend and 2 children, I told them both to behave and not to touch anything, both boys went in quietly and were looking at the ornaments. A rude man in a top hat (presumably the owner) came over and ushered the children out of the shop by pushing them to the door and telling my friend to take her children out because one of them was holding a bottle of water!! How ridiculous and upsetting for a child to do no harm and be treated so appallingly. If there was no food and drink allowed I would have put the drink in my bag. If you want to have your children man handled this is the place for you.
Rebecca B — Google review
By far the cutest, prettiest, and brightest souvenir and Christmas ornaments store. They have so much for you to choose from. The magnets are cheaper than some stores nearby so if you do come across this shop, do drop in. I’m not sure what time they open but we got there just before 11AM and it was quiet like we had the store to ourselves (if you want to avoid the rush)

It's a nice mall with lots of shops and restaurant, cafeteria. Manor, Dosenbach, Chicoree, New Yorkers and a lot more. Also has Migros restaurant and grocery store too. Inside they have a big slide for kids, but grown-ups can slide down too with kids. The shopping center is next to FCB sport arena. Nearby there is also a swimming pool, very nice one with slide. Close to the bus and tram stop. Also nearby the St Jacob's Halle.

When I first walked into this marvelous book store back in 1961, as a teenager, thousands of miles from home, I discovered that I had finally found my place. When I was out of school and working every pay day would find me here, lost in the wonderful world of books. The owners, the Biders back then, were very nice people. I'm very glad that this book store has weathered the years and still exists!!!

Easy to navigate the store. Right on the tram line so easy to get to. Would definitely shop here again if I'm in town.

Chocolate shop
Located in the old town of Zürich, Xocolatl GmbH offers a variety of Swiss chocolate brands including Rehmann and La Flor. The store is important to know its producers and suppliers personally because their products have a significant value for fair trade and sustainable practices. In addition to hot chocolate drinks, you must try their Schoggi!
My friend took me to this shop and café a couple of weeks ago, and I’m so happy she did! The atmosphere is super nice and classy, and the shop offers uncountable quality chocolates from all over the world. We were lucky to get a table in the café, where my friend drank some hot chocolate, I got a milky coffee (unfortunately they didn’t have decaf), and we shared the Kongo Tarte au chocolat with rosemary and salted almonds, which was surprisingly tasty. They have dozens and dozens of hot chocolates on the menu, as well as several chocolate cakes, your standard hot and cold beverages, and some sweet and savory non-chocolate options, so I believe anyone can find something they like here.
That ᴗ — Google review
Amazing chocolate that isn't presented in such a pretentious manner like the other confectionery shops in Basel. Their chocolate cakes are rich and dense, the hot chocolates are velvety and beautiful. Their own brand chocolate bars are also delicious and a reasonable price. The olive oil one is something special. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Loved this place.
Basil Y — Google review
Grabbed the chocolate cherry tortes and the rosemary and salted almond one. Absolutely dreamy. Think ganache with a slight crust of having met an oven at some point in its lifetime. At CHF6.50 a slice that's very reasonable for the standard and quality of ingredients. They'd definitely charge more in London. Lovely staff as well.
K 2 — Google review
A fantastic spot to spend an hour on a dreary day Don't be afraid to try the cold chocolate drink as well as the hot- both are great. The chocolate torte (xocolatl-tarte) is also incredible and rich.

Very impressive selection of chocolates from around the world and also from Switzerland. There’s a cute cafe where you can sit and enjoy hot beverages as well as their delicious home baked treats. The flourless (gluten-free!) dark chocolate cake is out of this world! Absolutely delicious! Very friendly staff.

Confiserie Bachmann is a must-visit with three cafes in Basel. Their freshly made products, including buttery croissants, chocolates, and cakes from their own bakery are irresistible. Indulge in their Schoggi Weg and Schoggi Gipfeli or enjoy a delightful breakfast. The location near Marktplatz offers a great view of the city while you savor delicious pastries and cakes.
Breakfast here was perfect - reminded us of an upscale diner. Staff was wonderful and plenty of breakfast items to choose from. 2 freshly baked croissants, tea and coffee. Perfect start!

Marzipan chocolate cake is too sweet. It also has zero pistachio taste but a strikingly fluorescent green colour (2/5). Hot chocolate is tasty (4.5/5). Prices are high but as expected in Switzerland 🇨🇭

I’m from the U.S. visiting my friend in Germany, and we were traveling in Switzerland. Yesterday was the last day of our 7-day trip, and we decided to spend it in Basel. Everywhere we went before had been warm and welcoming — except this place. My friend and I each had a toddler with us. We were just looking for a nice coffee shop before heading back to Germany. Since it’s not easy to find clean restrooms in Europe like it is in the States, we needed to find a café where the kids could use one. My friend quickly Googled nearby spots, and this one came up second on our list (the first was closed), so we stopped by. I ordered one coffee and one hot chocolate while waiting, and sat at one of the tables just to wait for my friend and her toddler, who were still using the restroom. We had lots of bags and things with us, as you can imagine when traveling with two small kids, and we also just did some shopping. Then the server came over and told me we weren’t allowed to sit if we ordered drinks “to go,” because the prices were different and the “chief” didn’t want takeout customers sitting at tables. So I had to gather my kid, all our things, my friend and her daughter’s things, and two drinks to move outside by myself. We honestly didn’t know that “to go” and “dine in” were treated so differently here. But seeing that we had two little kids and were just waiting for my friend to finish in the restroom, a little understanding and kindness would have gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome and disappointed.

Recommended by chat gpt as part of a 2 hours stopover in Basel. The place is poorly arranged as tables are scattered around a centre island where people order as new guests arrive, very unwelcoming overall. Coffee is barely warm, pastry on picture was ok on top - the base is not really edible as it is so hard. CHF 12.30. Service personnel not very welcoming either. I wouldn’t t recommend the place.
E T — Google review
it was an amazing experience of flavors, great place the prices was according with the town ;) very expensive for the rest of the European people. We have just eat very well and feel treated with attention.
Fátima S — Google review
Really poor service on our visit. Seemed only one person could take payments and customers were standing waiting to pay. The waiting staff were mostly out the back in the kitchen We sat inside and sadly watched the customers waiting at the counter to order food and drinks and some potential walked out as there was no one serving. One chap was furious for waiting and then his bill was wrong. Their serving system is floored - we watched as orders were taken and then delivered by friendly staff however when customers want to leave and there is no one at the counter to pay or the ONE person who can take payments is busy you could see the frustration in customers. Train your staff to become more agile- multi skilled and efficient. Tables were not cleared quickly. Staff were somewhat arrogant and moving around the cafe was awkward I had to wait for a waitress to pass through a gap rather than her wait for me to pass. As the paying customer she wasn’t courteous- It was a shame The coffee was great as was the muesli but unfortunately we won’t visit again as the customer service was terrible.

Schoggi Weg and Schoggi Gipfeli 😍😍😍 Especially the Schoggi Weg - have had them for years and never grow tired of them - they are soft chocolaty and lovely with any hot drink - their sandwiches are good too. It is pricey but it doesn't exactly advertise itself as anything else - The baked goods definitely worth the money Also whiling at one do the tables on a summer's morning is always a treat :)

Fizzen Basel has become a beloved destination for second-hand fashion enthusiasts since its inception in Bern in 1992. Initially focused solely on pre-loved clothing, the shop has evolved to include new items while still prioritizing its extensive collection of vintage pieces. Shoppers can expect a warm and inviting atmosphere, thanks to the friendly staff who are always ready to offer genuine advice and assistance.
What an incredible place to go to if you‘re looking for vintage/secondhand clothing! They especially have a lot of polos and button up shirts. Prices are pretty reasonable. There also is a wide selection of new clothing such as Stüssy etc.

Good shop, I normally order online it’s better priced and just efficient but sometimes I pass by this shop… good variety! Lots of other products to be found if accessories needed but customer service depends on your luck! Sometimes you get great sellers who help you and make you feel confortable answer any questions and then sometimes you have arrogant people (to not say something else under the ongoing social situation in certain neighboring countries… 🙂, I am sure the person will be easily recognizable but everyone is to be treated equally, I know some people have difficulties grasping that idea 🤷🏽‍♀️) …. Food for thoughts for the owner as your employees are the image of your shop!

Absolutely top tier customer service, the owner knows everything you need to know for beginner and experienced smokers. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately I was very disappointed in this boutique today. We were interested in a Gucci bag, which was surprisingly 110 CHF more expensive in the boutique than in the Gucci store in Zurich or on the Internet itself. A very friendly saleswoman tried to clarify this with the head office, unfortunately without success. The prices are set by Gucci, she was told. It's just strange that Gucci offers the same bag on its own website and in its own store for 110 CHF less. We will now avoid this boutique because we do not agree with the pricing policy and cannot be sure that other items will be overpriced.

St. Jakob-Park is a modern and comfortable stadium located in Basel, Switzerland. It is the home of FC Basel 1893 and offers guided tours that include access to the subs bench and VIP areas. The stadium has a capacity of over 6,000 seated spectators as well as standing spaces for additional visitors. St. Jakob-Park hosts various football games, sporting events, athletics games, and concerts throughout the year.
We had the pleasure of experiencing the official Eurovision Song Contest public viewing at St. Jakob-Park last weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic! This stadium proved to be an exceptional venue for such a large event. The size of St. Jakob-Park is impressive, and despite the massive turnout of around 36,000 people, it never felt overly crowded. The organizers did an outstanding job with the layout and flow. There were numerous food and drink options available, which definitely added to the positive atmosphere. The accessibility of the stadium is also a major plus. We found it very easy to get there from the city center using either the tram or the train, making transportation seamless. The highlight of the event was the impressive setup on the field. They had constructed a huge cube with large screens, ensuring that everyone in the stadium had a clear view of the Eurovision broadcast. The stage on top of the cube added another dimension to the event, creating a real sense of excitement and connection. It was truly the best public viewing event I have ever attended – the atmosphere was electric, and the facilities were top-notch. St. Jakob-Park is clearly a versatile and well-equipped stadium capable of hosting major events with remarkable efficiency and a focus on the attendee experience. If you have the chance to attend an event here, don't miss it!

Had to hand in my water bottle even though they were allowed to set off sparklers and flares. Great football match Basel vs Zurich. I was neutral and had to admire the fans musical talents especially the Zurich drummer. Basel won 2-0. It was a fun attacking game so not a boring defensive game. The pretzel was massive and tasted good.

As with most stadiums, not enough toilets or fast food outlets at half time. I know you cannot fully cater for that many people but think about making improvements, at least for food. 20mins of waiting & the line hardly moved. Most went without. What a missed opportunity for the stadium/vendors.

Great experience to attend St. Jakob Park Stadium to join the UEFA Women Euro in Switzerland 2025 opening game (Switzerland:Norway). It‘s a nice and safe Stadium! Enjoy the games
Dirk H — Google review
I had a chance to visit St. Jakob-Park for the Eurovision Grand Final Public Viewing Show, and I had a great time! The organization of the event was very well done. The stadium is huge and actually way bigger than St. Jakobshalle, where Eurovision itself was held. The Public Viewing Show was completely sold out, and the stadium was packed! While entering the stadium and waiting in the long lines, many people joked, ‘Who’s even inside the arena if everyone is waiting to get into the stadium?’ :-) The stadium’s overall condition is good. It is noticeable that the whole venue is a bit dated, and it definitely needs a facelift to look nicer. Despite that, all areas were very clean. There are plenty of restrooms around the stadium with easy access from any section. There are also many food kiosks offering a good variety of snacks and drinks. Prices for food and drinks were mid-range, but actually reasonable compared to the generally high prices in Basel. Garbage bins were placed right by every section, which was a big plus. The seating and section numbering were well organized, so I found my seat without any problem. My seat was in Block Parkett C4, Row 16, and I had a very nice view of the whole stadium, specifically of the huge LED screen in the middle that broadcast the Eurovision Grand Final. The seat was moderately comfortable, definitely more spacious and better than the seats in St. Jakobshalle. I can absolutely recommend this specific section and row to anyone coming to the stadium to watch a game – the overall views are very clear. I’m not sure if the sound system was arranged specifically for the Eurovision Public Viewing, but the speakers worked flawlessly – the sound quality was outstanding throughout the stadium. The stadium is easy to reach from Basel or from Saint-Louis, France, where my hotel was right on the Swiss-French border. It’s about 20 minutes by direct train, around 45 minutes on foot, or even faster with scooters and bikes using Basel’s bike lanes; from my hotel in Saint-Louis an Uber ride took just 12 minutes and cost €15. Another highlight was the stadium’s capacity to launch massive, spectacular fireworks – like the ones at the end of the Eurovision Grand Final. Overall, visiting St. Jakob-Park for the Eurovision Grand Final Public Viewing Show was an unforgettable experience that I truly enjoyed. I hope the venue will get a facelift and be further modernized in the future to host more high-tech events – maybe even another Eurovision someday, who knows? ;-)

Nothing boujie or expensive here, but the Markthauf is very convenient, various sit-down freshly made food areas, organic healthstores and there is an excellent toy shop upstairs selling quality brands at much lower cost than UK e.g Siku, Disney Pixar cars die cast. A little persons dream. Again, reflects the cultural and ethnic diversity of the immediate area. Lots of families and a good range of kids amusements. Clean and generally well maintained, including the toilet facilities. Easy, 21 minute direct access also to and from Basel Old Town via Tram 8 across the road (Weil Am Rhein stop).

Lidl is a popular supermarket chain with numerous branches across various countries. While some may find certain locations to be small and not the best, others appreciate its affordability and wide range of daily essentials. Although it can get crowded at times, it remains a convenient shopping spot for many. Additionally, there are other similar options like Aldi, Denner, Geant Casino, LeClerc, Carrefour or Hieber available in nearby regions for those seeking alternative shopping experiences.
I can say that this supermarket truly met my expectations. Especially their selection of chocolates and nuts was quite impressive, with a good balance of variety and quality. However, when I wanted to explore a few different sections, I noticed that the arrangement of the aisles felt a bit disorganized. Of course, I went during peak hours, so I didn’t let it bother me too much.

The cashiers are angry and neglecting the customers. I had to ask 3 times to get my check. The selves are empty or half emptied. Everything is sticking at the bread section from something dirty and gluey thing.

Quality of fresh food seems to have gone down recently. I bought a punnet of cherry tomatoes and a packet of three red peppers on seperate occasions, both of which were off and had to be thrown. I've seen other fruit and vegetables on display which I've not bought on the grounds that they were off. False economy. On the plus side I like the coffee machine at the door!

This charming store is thoughtfully divided into three distinct sections: the top floor caters to business attire, the ground level offers sporty yet elegant options for more mature men, and the basement is perfect for younger shoppers seeking trendy styles. The friendly and professional staff are always ready to assist you, with an in-house tailor available to ensure your purchases fit just right.

Variety and options in delicatessen that you might not find anywhere else in the city. Quality safe but not necessarily top. Overpriced, probably charging for location and brand. Similar and greater quality food for better prices easily found in other markets around town.

We were walking through the streets of Basel in search of a supermarket when we discovered the Coop! Not only is is a great supermarket ( located in the basement, but they also have beautiful clothing as well as a very well stocked pharmacy!

I found a kids' jacket marked with a 50% off sale sticker, but when I tried to check out, the cashier was rude and dismissed me, refusing to acknowledge the price. Despite showing her the sale ticket, she was disrespectful and offered no apology. I spoke to the manager, but the cashier continued to act like the victim and refused to apologize for her behavior. The manager was unhelpful and seemed to side with the cashier. The lack of professionalism and poor customer service was shocking.

It is very centrally located at Markplatz. It’s quite a big one. One can buy a lot of things like clothing and other necessities. The basement had a big supermarket offering almost everything as far as food and drinks were concerned.

Literally shocked - went today morning to pick up some groceris (also some bakery) from Coop and what I see at the bakery corner right in front of me: an employee takes the baked goods with her bare hands - this is totally unhygienic (the pastry tongs are there for a reason: TO USE IT!). This is a NO-GO in a supermarket where they are handling foods.

This place is great and they really have it all. The location is fantastic right in the heart of downtown and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a really cool selection of toys for children (all ages) and adults, accompanied by books in German (of course), Italian, French, and a special relatively small yet powerful section dedicated to books in English (fiction, non fiction, and everything in between). The curation of the titles is flawless and if you cannot find what you want, just ask to have it delivered in a couple of days. The cherry on top is the café on the first floor, where you can enjoy a fantastic coffee surrounded by books. As good as it gets. It's really worth a visit.
Salvador C — Google review
This would be one of my happy places on Saturdays, with a very pleasant vibe and lots of books (many of which in English). I'd so much like to be able to also enjoy the coffee shop. Unfortunately, the kids section is next to it and their constant high-voice blabberring and shrieking make me take refuge in the basement area instead. I find this arrangement incompatible, because of the marked contrast between the customer needs in these two areas.

Yvonne L — Google review
My Russian friend recently visited this boutique in Switzerland, where she intended to purchase a high-end watch as a special memento from her visit. What should have been an exciting and luxurious experience turned into a deeply disappointing and discriminatory encounter that I feel compelled to share. From the outset, the service was far below the standards one expects from a prestigious Swiss watch retailer. Despite her clear interest in an expensive timepiece, no basic courtesies were extended—no offer of coffee, water, or even a comfortable seat while browsing. The female staff member she interacted with came across as arrogant and dismissive, making her feel unwelcome rather than valued as potential customers. The situation escalated to outright unacceptable behavior when my friend informed she was a Russian to complete the purchase. The staff refused to proceed, citing the boutique's "policy" of sanctioning Russia due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. While I understand the complexities of international politics, selectively denying service based on a customer's nationality is not only discriminatory but also contradicts the principles of hospitality and fairness that Switzerland prides itself on. This is not about politics; it's about basic human respect and equal treatment in a commercial setting. Such actions alienate visitors and tarnish the reputation of Swiss craftsmanship. I strongly urge the management to review their policies and train staff on inclusive customer service. Potential buyers should be aware of this risk before visiting. One star—solely for the quality of the watches on display, which we unfortunately couldn't acquire.
E D — Google review

They carry the biggest selection of teas in Basel, from very good quality to mediocre. They do their own blending eg, Chai Tea Classic is a very good blend. The Mandarin Tea used to be very good but the quality of the tea leaves have gone down, they were of big leaves but it is now reduced to be tiny scissor picked leaves and too smoked for my personal taste.

We are very satisfied with the service! They welcomed us with a candy for our son. We didn't find what we were looking for, a small jar of liquid chocolate for the plane, but we did buy another gift for my husband's mother. Great stocks of oils (their truffle oil is amazing!!!), vinegars, various spirits & single malts. On the downside, it's a little bit pricey but on the major upside, you can try before you buy. FYI, there's a lot to try! The staff definitely know their wares and are so friendly and helpful. To lower your costs, bring your own container if need be as they are around CHF3.50 - CHF20 to purchase on top of the oil, vinegar and/or spirits you've choosen. They also have a good range of gift baskets and other gourmet products. Sealing their containers for travelling nearby or overseas is a free service. One of my favourite foodie stores in Basel.

(Translated by Google) Super delicious selections of vinegar, oil, liqueurs, schnapps, etc. It's great because it's very environmentally friendly. You can try everything before you buy. The price is on the higher side, so it's one star less. But you enjoy it more consciously. The staff is friendly and usually has some good tips on how to use the vinegar or oil. Today we bought our son's first 'walking' shoes. We were very pleased with the advise and care from the staff. Thank you.

The selection is very nice and it’s brilliant to find a specialized store like this. However, as noted by other reviewers, the sales staff were somewhat unpleasant and it seemed almost as if we were being done a favor by being able to browse around. Perhaps the store is meant for select customers and we didn’t make the cut, but I would not necessarily make this my first choice for future purchases.

We just found this place strolling through the old town of Basel. What a great place to buy shoes for my two little ones! They have a huge selection of all kinds of children shoes. From slippers to wellies and everything in between. The story is not big but how many shoes they have in there is amazing. It can get a little crowded, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. I will come back when I'm nearby for sure!

Anna K. is a fashion store with a wide selection of ladies' clothing, shoes, and accessories from well-known brands as well as unique vintage finds. The store is situated in the old town of Basel, and can be found easily by passersby. Prices are typically quite reasonable, making it a great option for both first-time buyers and seasoned shoppers alike. The owners are very friendly and helpful, making it an excellent place to browse for wardrobe necessities.
I have been telling every single girl I know in Basel about this place! I have met the owner’s daughter a few times and she is very friendly, open-minded and helpful! The store in the old town is very small and cozy, but you can find so many nice pieces here! The prices are usually quite fair as well! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Interesting deals. Not the cheapest, but for sure one of the most interesting piece selections amongst Vintage Basel 😩. This suit was sold for under 400 CHR. Not the cheapest, but! One of the finest! (Translated by Google) The store looks very friendly. Unfortunately, the saleswomen are very unfriendly and have absolutely no understanding of fashion. They speak as if they know something, but they first have to research what brands they want to buy and are completely unaware of the different prices charged by the respective designers. They're housewives who have never worked in the fashion industry. Therefore, I'm convinced that certain items of clothing are overpriced. (Original) Das Geschäft sieht sehr freundlich aus. (Translated by Google) Today I was scammed by the store and never thought such nice and polite Swiss people could be so mean to customers! A few years ago, I bought a hat there, and while trying it on at home, I realized it didn't fit me. I brought it back the next week and asked if I could return it. A nice man from the store offered me something else, but I couldn't find anything that would fit me. They said I could come back sometime with the receipt and pick something out. I asked if I should get a voucher. Then they handed me a receipt from the store and gave me a printout from the bank card terminal, casually promising that the printout would be enough for my next visit! I was surprised that it was so easy with them, but I just accepted it. This is Switzerland, I thought to myself! People don't get scammed here, even in such a nice old store like this! Then I asked how long the "voucher" was valid for. Then they clearly told me, "There are no time limits for a "voucher"! You can redeem it whenever you want!" Then, with a clear conscience, I went by every now and then, wanting to finally pick something out and redeem the "voucher." And now, after two years, I finally wanted to get rid of it, redeem the voucher, and buy myself something nice! I picked out a nice polo shirt and finally wanted to redeem the voucher, but the store manager looked at the slip and, to my surprise, told me it wasn't a voucher!!! And it was even over two years old! Then I reminded her of the story, explained everything in detail, how I didn't get a voucher back then except for the slip from the bank card terminal, and the store manager laughed in my face and said it wasn't possible and I must have switched stores. Even though the slip had the exact name of the store and address on it! Then it became clear to me that they all lied to me back then (with a friendly greeting on their faces). I couldn't do anything except turn around and walk out feeling like a swindler. But I have to give them one thing! To be scammed so elegantly, cleverly, and simply, not somewhere in Eastern Europe, but IN SWITZERLAND!!! I never expected it! I was scammed in a similar way in Eastern Europe in the 90s and 2000s, but I did NOT expect it to be like this in our modern times AT ALL! I would understand if it was a large sum! But they did it for 80 CHF! That's nothing by Swiss standards! So I'm warning you all! Please be alert and alert in that store! Think 100 times about whether the item of clothing really fits you! And if you find yourself in a similar situation like me, then ask them for the RIGHT VOUCHER! But in the best case scenario, just walk past and shop somewhere else! Luckily, in Basel, there's a wide selection of really good boutiques where you'll receive appropriate service without the risk of getting caught in such a humiliating and embarrassing affair! Although the store itself is good! But the staff there can no longer be trusted! Unfortunately! Except for a nice elderly lady who served me today and was very honest and open with me! Thank God she didn't get involved in the affair! I actually think it's a shame that it turned out this way! And not at all because of 80CH! Money isn't an issue here! I could have afforded the polo shirt today and bought it WITHOUT THE FAKE VOUCHER! It's just a shame that in such beautiful weather, when I saw happy faces all day, in the heart of Basel, you can be so cruelly scammed in such a retro store! Also ich warne euch alle!

(Translated by Google) I have had both good and bad experiences. First the good: I bought a coat that was really great, but it wasn't exactly cheap. It is a well-stocked store with many valuable brands and unique items. Negative: I offered my ballerinas for sale, they are in great condition and I made a phone call to arrange a handover. When I was in the store 30 minutes later, I was literally brushed off by two women and they didn't want to hear anything about the phone call. The one saleswoman who promised me was overruled by the other two in front of me. I was really sorry about that. My shoes were put back in my bag without being examined and I was brushed off. Very indecent!

(Translated by Google) Fair Swiss label. Me and my customers are really excited about the quality, the details of the cut, where a collar is not just a collar, and the colors, which add freshness, especially to business wardrobes. This makes it very easy to build a CAPSULE WARDROBE or basic wardrobe. As a style expert, I also recommend high-quality and well-made accessories. Gladly again, dear Kleinbasel team. (Original) Faires Swiss-Label. Gerne wieder liebes Kleinbasel-Team.

Very rude people!!!! . When i came in stuff wasn't wearing a mask, Then they did put one on and yelled at me to put one on. When i explained politely that i could not wear one for medical reasons he yelled at me again. I was discriminated for my medical condition.

Great store with unique fashion. Absolutely worth a visit. Very kind and knowledgeable owner. Very happy to see this kind of stores in Basel as a counterweight to the big high street stores.
Roelof K — Google review
My very first time trying out an outfit (the last minute decision) - and eventually buying it - is the best experience I've had. And I'm comparing it to my experience at Dice Kayek boutique in Paris. Seriously, not only does HE has a great knowledge in the articles he sells, their designers, but also what your body is best to carry. Yes, the clothes won't carry you, but it's your body that will carry the clothes (as how it's supposed to be), and will bring out the best in it. I am so looking forward to my future appointments, and to the many treasures I will find. We didn't have much pictures because we enjoyed very much. And my husband and I felt extra fabulous in our clothes. We were indeed the king and queen of the evening - we looked like it, and felt like it.

(Translated by Google) The first time was in 2005, when I spent two evenings in front of the shop window looking at a stunning, multi-piece outfit. My decision shortly before departure was to definitely purchase it, which I did. A timeless garment, consisting of a devilish shirt (GMG), coat (Bikkemberg) and trousers (KENZO), was absolutely the right choice. Still on trend today, very dressy with a touch of extravagance. The joy that you are maintaining and protecting your shop is great. HotLemonBasel, a must on your next trip.
