Quite good service initially but food a big let down. Steak (frites) was so tough as to be inedible. Waiter who cleared away plates didn’t enquire how our meals were but was happy to ask if to wanted to add a tip. Another colleague started to set up the breakfast tables beside us not halfway through our meal (20.15 reservation)

My friend and I stayed here - we found the studio room to feel spacious and modern. I particularly loved the dark green colour scheme throughout the hotel. The shower and toilet were separate, and I liked the concept of drawing curtains around the bathroom area after stepping out of the shower for privacy. The hotel is located very conveniently near the historic Mittlere Brücke (bridge) and the Claraplatz tram station, where the No.8 tram can take you to Basel's main train station (e.g. to then get to the airport) and also into Germany, Weil am Rhein! Coop and Migros are also nearby for food shopping. Each floor has a water, tea, and fruit station, which was great. The downside was our room didn't have a mini fridge, so we weren't able to keep any drinks or food that required refrigeration. Additionally, the table in our room also only had one chair (and a lower reclining chair in the corner) so we weren't able to sit at the table together.

We were at the bar. The cocktails were delicious and service friendly but the loaded fries were terrible. Cheep truffle aroma and congealed Parmesan on top of what would have been decent fries.

Went there for a business dinner and apero. It was a lovely setting with very good food and service. It is well located and 1 min walk from the tram. I am not sure about the price but I assume on the high end of a Swiss restaurant

We stopped for dinner in their beautiful courtyard in the evening. We were seated quickly and service was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. We all had steak frites. It certainly isn't cheap but then I guess it is in Switzerland!

Great vibe, quirky hotel, delicious drinks. Kim was amazing in the bar and very informative about the local produce from the area. Rooms were very clean and tidy and local area was nearby with lots of interesting attractions - entertainment, food, bars and a barber all within 5 minutes

If I had to pick one word to describe Cheval Blanc, it would be impeccable. From the greeting as we arrived a bit early to the flawless dining experience and finally, the unexpected, super enjoyable after dinner drinks and cigar bar, this dining experience was unrivaled. Our group of 4 came to Basel for one night and were fortunate enough to score a lunch reservation Friday, May 9th. From the moment we stepped into the stunning hotel and absolutely beautiful restaurant we knew our experience would be memorable. As we arrived early, we were greeted immediately and escorted to the bar area right outside the main restaurant. It was almost as if they expected us early. We drank some champagne before entering the main restaurant experience right on time. The dining room was tastefully decorated and the subtle touches (i.e. candles) made the experience special. The setting along the Rhine River was just one more Iconic element. The dining room was full and at the same time entirely intimate. We knew there were other guests in the room with us, but never really felt or heard their presence. To say the food was amazing is to sell it short. When you dine at an establishment like Cheval Blanc, you expect the food to be exceptional. The food on this day was more than up to the task. Two of us were grateful that the chef allowed us to substitute for our main protein course. The presentation was amazing with each course seemingly looking and tasting better than the previous one. I will post a few pictures and hope you will accept our apologies for the one course/picture that has a spoon in it. That course looked (and was) so delicious that we all started eating before we took a picture. The cheese course was a welcome and unique experience for us. Note: the picture I posted was AI adjusted as we removed the photobombers (coworkers and other patrons) from the picture. No cheese was altered by AI. The wine list was extensive and impressive and our selections matched up well to our menu. The Cheval Banc team was a perfect accompaniment to the food and drink. The entire team worked with precision, knowing just when to serve the next course with compelling descriptions. The team was personal and engaging, yet never intrusive. Flawless in execution while at the same time graceful in delivery. Our chef came out at the end of our meal and engaged our table for a few minutes. He was authentically interested in learning about our experience and outwardly pleased we enjoyed our time. To finish off the day, our group was escorted to the Cigar Bar for drinks and a smoke. It could not have been a better setting for our nightcap (err, day cap). The setting was reminiscent of a scene from a James Bod movie. Yet again, we felt refreshingly alone in a room with multiple groups present and our experience only enhanced by the people serving us. Our only regret was cutting or trip to Basel short by a day. Hopefully we will have a chance to return to the wonderful city on a future trip and be lucky enough to dine at Cheval Blanc again. Maybe we will see you there!

this was our 3rd michelin experience in Basel and unfortunately the most disappointing. We had the 6 course dinner menu with wine pairing. Nothing felt exceptional about a 3 michelin star restaurant here. We really expected an elevated experience, but it felt quite flat. The starters and even the menu itself were not very memorable. We liked the main courses of fish and deer but besides that, nothing stood out. We had to fill up on bread since we were not even close to being full. Also there was almost no explanation of why a particular wine was paired with a food; we were only given the description of the wine. We also asked many questions about the origins of the ingredients and most of the staff were unaware. Overall, did not feel even close to the 4 digit price tag we ended up paying.

Tldr: Excellent three Michelin star restaurant in a beautiful setting. Come hungry if you're having the prix fixe menu. Came for dinner. Ordered the six course prix fixe menu. Got 14 courses. Not disappointed. The service is excellent, the setting is beautiful, and the food is always high quality. I wasn't blown away by any single dish, like I often am when dining at a place of this caliber, but everything was very good, and there was a lot of variety. It's an excellent experience, but be prepared to linger over dinner. We arrived at 7:15 and left at 11pm.

Technical knowledge and understanding of flavours on show. Some of the best fish and seafood dishes I have eaten. Sea urchin outstanding and sole was inspired. The main course lacked cohesion and cooking of the lamb missed the mark for me. Service was formal, and attentive. Some low level music would help to break down the stuffy and stiff atmosphere.

Great food, Great experience. Highly recommended. I can see why they earned the Michelin Stars. Each dish was unique and flavourful. My favorite part was the briefcase filled with chocolate that was presented at the end of the meal.

It's obviously amazing since it didn't get three stars by chance but even with high expectations it was outstanding. Delicious food compositions, flawless service and a sophisticated atmosphere.

To be honest i was a little disappointed. First of all the good points. -if you ask questions they are dutifully answered and even though they tried to accommodate your requests as good as possible. -the food was mostly very very good. A few dishes were not fitting into the concept somehow but overall superb quality of cooking -when mentioned we had some books to sign we were even shown the patisserie. -the armosphere was amazing. The things which didn’t go so well: -the wine pairing was completely out of synch with dinner. They poured the next wine before we even finished the last one. -the amouse bouche was somehow in a weird order and the one we tried first was overwhelming every taste. -the first starter was absolutely not fitting. -the apero was extraordinary expensive. This is something which bothers me generally. They never tell you how much an apero will cost even though it is important and 35 per glass is outrageous if you only get it on the bill. -we paid 1200 chf for two people and for that it wasn’t good enough to be honest. Most expensive star experience so far and i think other ones were much better.

We had lunch here and it was a feast. Every dish was very pretty yet never exaggerated. No artificial show elements. It is all about taste and textures. The cutlery and plating are even downright simple, nothing special, but you don‘t eat out to see knives and forks. Tanja greeted us at our table which was very nice. The atmosphere is pleasant, no music! Most guests seem to be locals having a regular lunch on a weekday, apparently the neighborhood is rich.

Dining at Tanja Grandits was a true honour and memorable experience. We were lucky to find a table on the Jul 31st, the evening before Swiss National Day. We were especially delighted that the chef herself came out to serve us the first dish — a wonderful personal touch. Each course was exquisite, with unique flavours highlighted by creative use of herbs and spices. The portions were decent and satisfying, and the service throughout was warm, friendly, and attentive. A fantastic dining experience all around. A restaurant which I would love to come back again.

Indulging in the culinary experience at Tanja Grandits was an absolute delight! The food was truly exceptional, showcasing flavors that took my taste buds on an unforgettable journey. However, what elevated the entire experience was the impeccable wine pairing suggested by the knowledgeable sommelier. Each selection beautifully complemented the dishes and offered a global tour of flavors, making every sip an adventure. Without a doubt, investing in the wine pairing was worth every penny for the added dimension it brought to an already outstanding dining experience.

In the 9 course meal, I would be surprised if at least 3 did not leave you utterly impressed. However, at the level of perfection that you expect from a restaurant that has 2 Michelin stars and at the price point they operate any detail less than perfect should be noted. These include: 1. The butter temperature when initially served was a few degrees too cold. Making it hard to spread. It reached ideal temperature around 90 minutes after it was first served. 2. The bill took too long to be brought after the dinner was complete. Over 20 minutes waiting without a clear way to request it again since our table was not in direct line of sight to waiters after their service was complete. 3. The meat dish towards the end was not as impressive as some of the earlier dishes. Specifically, the meat did not have the “cuts like butter” tenderness one comes to expect at this level of experience. All that being said, it is worth the experience and the level of organization and precision throughout are noteworthy.

Tldr: Excellent food, excellent service. Two Michelin star restaurant that exceeds some of the three star places I've been too in the US. Got a last minute table here for dinner. The service was friendly and welcoming, as well as impeccable in every detail throughout the meal. The meal is advertised as nine courses, but in my case, they served twelve (thirteen if you count the bread and butter, which you should). Every course was excellent. The biggest stand-outs for me were the asparagus course and the fennel course - I think the fennel soup had the best prawns I have ever eaten. In the end, I felt that this restaurant was better than some of the three Michelin star restaurants I've eaten at in the US.

The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and the ambience had a quiet elegance without being too stuffy. It was a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday. Sending my warmest thanks to your lovely team for making my birthday special. They were gluten-free friendly.

Dined here two days in a row due to the wonderful quality of the food and the very warm and welcoming service. Both times, the food was of a very high standard and super tasty. The interior of the building is stunning and very inviting. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately it was covered in plastic and scaffolding. The food was OK. Although see other reviews not as good as other places I dined at. The food which came off the menu beforethe starter and afterthe dessert-the petit fours were delicious. The Venison chipolata | Caponata | Scamorza cheese | Bacon-Thyme foam soup was good. Duo of wild duck | Autumn polenta | Cowberries | Brussels sprouts | Chestnuts would have been good apart from the Chestnuts were too like marron glace too sweet if they had done just roasted Chestnuts it would have worked. They served wine from giant bottles which were too gimmickry for me. So if they didn't peer pressure you when you first came in to have a glass of red wine from the massive bottle I would have enjoyed it more.

The food is incredible! Slowly served in the European fashion. There was NOT one bad bite and worse, my wife wouldn’t let me lick the plate. Services is European (letting you enjoy your food without bothering), but quick to help if you have questions. Top notch. From a dumb American, try it. You will not be disappointed! Wish I could give 10 stars

Food was just ok. They sat us at a small table at the top edge of the stairs. Nothing like a chance of death to liven up dinner. Forgot us because we were the only people upstairs. Forgot to bring my husband his beer. Overall just MEH…

Great quality food! We ordered their set menu and they came with different degrees of flavor and strength. They have menu for vegetarians or pescetarians as well! I went there three times on special occasions especially with friends and families when they have their birthdays. The staff were very friendly and made sure to chat with us. Great Swiss hospitality indeed! 😍 😍 😍

Wonderful dining experience in a historical setting, yet the restaurant didn't lose its touch on modernizing itself. From the manager to waiters/waitresses, everyone was courteous and kind. The main dishes here today are the white asparagus soup and beef fillet with potatoes. The meal ended with two pieces of sweets, which are not too sweet and on point!

What a disappointment! We ordered a salad for a starter and a main course of fish. The salad was ok, nothing special. The fish came cold, and row I returned it to the kitchen. It came after a while and was still row in the middle. It is unfortunate to see the same fish served at the same table, which was different. The Basmati rice was half cooked. The taste of the fish and the rice was blant, no flavour at all. The service, was unprofessional. I did not expect this from this restaurant. I have been in this restaurant since we moved to Basel. Thank god they did not charge me for my fish.

A wonderful place with great service. The charming patio offers a bit of coolness on a hot day. Unfortunately, we were probably unlucky with the food – out of five people, four received heavily oversalted dishes (steaks and lamb), and the gazpacho had nothing to do with a proper gazpacho – watery, lacking blended bread, and with no noticeable garlic flavor.

For my boyfriends birthday, we came here for a dinner yesterday. It was a wonderful surprise that they accomodated this special event with a special table secluded from the rest of the restaurant, ideal for a romantic dinner for 2. They even prepared a little gift and a note. We had the steak and lamb menu - both perfectly done to our taste. They have a huuuuge wine selection! and a very interesting palette of starters. Service was also perfectly executed.

The starter and the main dish were delicious! A lot of different flavors, a very nice combination. The meat was tender and melting in the mouth, and was accompanied with a delicious sauce and puree. The service is quick and competent. I am very pleased by that. Only negative thing, with all honestly, The dessert is awful. I didn't even finish it, I ate only one bite and it was enough. It is such a shame as it is the last part of the meal. Nevertheless, I would recommend this restaurant for its various starters and dishes, but not for the dessert.

Exceptional restaurant. I tried the steak. It was tender and flavourful cooked to perfection, with a very good Chianti. The waitress was extremely friendly and very professional. The setting is excellent for romantic dinner or professional gatherings. Apparently you can buy paintings on site.

A charming spot just by the water with lovely and helpful staff. The selection of food is rather limited to basically one of each standard animal you would expect to find in a restaurant and one or two vegetarian options. I rather enjoyed all that was on offer but I could imagine a world where I want some beef that is not of the Stroganoff variety and end up being discontent. Today was certainly not that day so I enjoyed the meal and would certainly come back to try other things from their menu.

We were out 5, trying all appetizers (my favorite was the bone with the marrow), then beef, vegetarian and fish dishes. All were really good. Bottled wine can be as cheap as 54 francs, water filtered but comes at cost. Portions are small but filling. Many Spritz available, not just the usual Gespritzter Wein and Aperol. We were sitting on the terrace, great view. Bit noisy from the street, but not disturbing. Service was excellent, by a lovely young waitress.

Completely full but the friendly staff pointed me to a local bar and I returned later and was able to get a spot on the balcony for one. Lovely atmosphere on a glorious evening. Good wine as well.

Our plan to have a lovely lunch was rather stymied by a bit of inclement weather and the restaurant running out of food. The only items on the menu were some salads and three mains: after ordering, one of our choices disappeared. As did we, to go elsewhere. Lovely staff, and the beer was good, but sadly lunch proved to be out of our reach.

Great restaurant with great food. The waiters were amazing, friendly, smiling, and suggesting the right food. Cozy nice atmosphere inside the restaurant. Prices are matched with food quality. Must try is their homemade ice tea. Highly recommended.

It used to be one of my favorite places in town, but sadly not anymore. The menu is now very limited, and everything is hugely overpriced, even by Swiss standards. The food is okay, but nothing special. It tries to come across as fancy and sophisticated, but the quality is often mediocre (though one salad was very good). The only real upside left is the location—right on the riverbank—but it can get quite noisy. At these prices, you can find truly fancy places nearby that offer top-quality food and a much better overall experience. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

Great place to try good quality Swiss beef. The veal schnitzel was perfectly cooked and the accompanying vegetables were so flavourful and roasted to perfection. I'd be eating here every day of it was not so expensive 🫰

The service was very kind and even spoke English but sadly we can’t give it more than 3 stars as the value for money was not justified and food was forgettable. We had two types of sausages (white and standard) and the broccoli in vinaigrette. They could improved it with better pretzel and bread, and with some nice butter. The rosti could be done better too (potatoes more caramelised). We liked that they offered locally brewed beer though. Would go again if right occasion came

Restaurant Löwenzorn is such a popular local restaurant that it's always full !!! During summer they let customers sit outside at their courtyard, a very relaxing dining environment. Ordered one of their specials, Vitello Tonnato, which is cold roast beef served with tuna sauce, you know what, this is one of the perfect chemistry I've ever had in my mouth, with the decorations of capers in the mix of flavors, OMG, you have to order this dish !!! I will definitely look forward to come here again during winter to sit in the indoor dining area of this almost 600 years old historical landmark, a lovely traditional swiss wooden decorated place.

A great option for a traditional Swiss restaurant. Had the veal sausage with onion sauce and rosti and it was very good. Notably there is a spacious outdoor patio in a courtyard - a relaxing place to visit in the summer to be sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. I loved my steak tartare and the three others in our group enjoyed theirs as well. My husband had a burger and found it delicious.

Had lovely starter; fondue with a lovely Swiss meat and a Warm chocolate volcano with amaretto ice cream & blueberry-ragout. It was delicious

If you're having fondue, do I highly suggest sitting in the courtyard when the weather is nice and cool. It's a great experience.

The food was very tasty and the waiter was very friendly and explained to us the brewing process (which happens behind the restaurant). This meant we had really nice beer and were even given a tasting of the beers they brew locally. The only thing I can complain about is the price, but the costs are very transparent even on the menu at the door.

A rather mediocre and underwhelming experience with decent but bland food. The restaurant staff was very friendly, but seemed rather overwhelmed and not in control of the situation, sometimes not even responding to us asking for a refill. They forgot about our table reservation and offered it up to a spontaneous walk-in group, while leaving us with the choice of splitting up or squeezing in tight. The food was decent, but way to overpriced for what it was and felt rather bland (Might be my personal preference though, cause I enjoy good seasoning). Meat wasn’t medium and instead done and on some parts randomly rare, while the herb butter was a frozen chunk. Portions were adequate, but some of the plates we received were dirty. All in all not a bad experience but I will not go again and definitely not recommend it to any of my friends.

Started with the Buffalo mozzarella. Definitely a winner! For meals, we had a pretzel burger and the prime rib. Both were outstanding! Wait staff were all friendly and attentive. Added bonus of a marching band playing down the street and then showing up in front of this place. Away from the "touristy" areas. Highly recommend!

Hidden gem on a side street just off the Rhine. Old Swiss tavern style without being too overdone. Modern bar with plenty of schnapps, good wine, and tasty draft beer. Had several of their beers, including a seasonal stout that was surprisingly really good. Food was phenomenal, especially the seasonal asparagus cream soup. Stellar experience.

Super nice place! We had dinner here and i ordered the vegetarian tartar. Within minutes they asked how it was. I said it was not how i expected it to be. They offered a new dish immediately. Great service, fast and kind. We will come back for sure.

A week in Basel and this was my best dining experience. Friendly staff, lovely outdoor dining, great beer, beautifully plated meals, extremely delicious sauces and homemade spatzle offerings. A must do restaurant!

We went there on Easter night and we were very pleased with the food. The waiter was very nice and polite, taking care of our needs especially with 2 little ones and let us order for the kids first. Good beer, very good Swiss/German food especially if you are a meat lover.

Fantastic late meal at Flavours of Jerusalem was delicious all fresh food and freshly cooked, an amazing blend of flavors. . Best lamb cutlets I've ever had and I'm from the UK! Delicious home made lemon drink to go with it.

We had such a great lunch here! Tried the zucchini pasta with burrata and it was absolutely delicious – fresh, perfectly balanced flavors and really well made. The atmosphere in the Markthalle is relaxed but lively, and service was quick and friendly. Definitely a spot I’d come back to for authentic, simple but elevated Italian food. 🍝✨

10/10 Diverse food options from around the world. A great place to connect with people and enjoy the cuisine you prefer. From Parisian, Korean, and Thai to Italian, it has it all. On weekends, it can get quite busy. No table reservations possible unless it’s a corporate event.

Nice place with lots of options under 1 roof. Only food joints were there when I visited. I felt that the food was bit costly. Anyways in Swiss everything is expensive. We had Ladhak momos and those were amazing

Excellent if you're arriving by train and want somewhere very close to eat at. I had a plate from the Jeruselam stall which was excellent. Many international options including viet, indian, Sri Lankan, etc. Great if you're looking for variety.

It’s a super place where we have all cuisines from different countries and having plenty of seats inside and outside, I went with my friends and enjoyed the food here when I was in Basel

Was here for the last official dinner of the year for our working group. The restaurant has a traditional and elegant feel to it, with wooden flooring. We had a 3 course dinner consisting of salad, main course and dessert plate. The main course was the veal escalope with pepper sauce, tagliolini and zucchini. The veal was soft, juicy and delicious. The dessert plate plate was good and refreshing. But italians might find the tagliolini a tad overcooked and soft. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Very good for fine dining

Visited the restaurant back in November (menu has changed since then). Warm and quaint interior. The service was delightful, both waitresses were very eager and helpful. The dishes were tasty, although a bit simplistic, and thus I’m ambivalent about the michelin star. However it is a fine restaurant by swiss standards and the value for money is unbeatable.

In the restaurant pretending to be "Michelin" they add white wine to the glass even though it's not empty yet. The kitchen is good but the waiters are not well trained.

Service was really good. They catered for my fructose intolerance right down to the smallest detail and gave me different options without reservation. The food was very tasty especially the tuna tartate. Highly recommend

Great place for Sunday brunch, with excellent service and a good choice of food. Good quality products, salami and cheese - top. Hot dishes and cold cuts, salmon, cava, pastries - all delicious. big questions to roast beef, sorry guys, it looks great, but very hard to chew. Overall, well done colleagues, thumbs up!!!

The place looked great for lunch. Ordered Falafel for 24CHF and got 4 little slices with nothing but a little sauce. Could easily pass as little side-snack for your beer. When asked by the cashier how it was, I replied that the volume was not up to par. She ignored that. Nomad used to be the place to recommend to visitors, but it is now showing signs of decline.

The place is buzzing with people every evening, has an amazing bar and serves delicious food! Cocktails are made professionally and served rapidly. If you're a burger fan, you must try the Nomad burger. Absolutely fantastic. Could do with a little bit more sauce for the fries, nevertheless, an excellent choice.

The Sunday Brunch was absolutely wonderful! Lots of delicious dishes to choose from. Drinks incl. tea, coffee, prosecco all inclusive. Ambience cosy, live music, attentive waiters. Can definitely recommend.

Love their Sunday brunches! Probably my favorite in Basel. The food is always fresh and they have champagne included😱 which is rare in basel. Great place for hang out, dates or whatever else! Their cocktails are also amazing

Place is beautiful. Maybe I didn’t get the message of the food. The one I ordered is the fish one. It is fish with tomatoes not quite something I would expect (not understanding the German menu and didn’t ask…). Taste wise it is ok, spicy for me. It is definitely not WOW effect for me. But place is good. Nice to sit and drink and chat.

Brunch in Sundays is just super with musicians playing live from time to time. Casual lunch with friends or colleagues during business days is convenient. I recommend their Nomad Burger

I was suprised with the most special birthday dinner here. The staff and the owners were incredibly friendly and truly cared to make this experience unforgettable! And the food… I am still dreaming about it ♥️

If you like Michelin award restaurants, definitely try this one. Creative menus, beautifully presented, knowledgeable service team, incredibly delicious and good portions. Wine and drink list exceptional. Has a bar, lounge area inside and outside as well. Expensive but worth it

Subject: Serious Concern Regarding Recent Dining Experience Dear im Ackermannshof Team, I’m writing to express my deep disappointment with a recent dinner at your restaurant, which sadly caused me significant physical discomfort and has shaken my trust in a place I once considered a favorite. When I arrived, your waitress kindly assured me that my dietary requirements—lactose intolerant, vegetarian, and no alcohol—would be fully accommodated across the 4-course menu. I appreciated this, as I always communicate these clearly due to the severe discomfort I experience if they are not followed. Unfortunately, the dishes served to me included buffalo mozzarella, fried feta cheese, and undercooked eggs, all of which I would not have expected based on my restrictions. I ate them, trusting that my needs had been taken into account, but not long afterward, I began experiencing severe bloating and pain, to the point I could barely sit still. I spoke with the waitress during the meal, but was told the chef was too busy to address the issue. I ended up paying 400 CHF (with tip) for a dinner that made me sick. Lovely service, cuisine, ambience and wine proposals. Ackermannshof has been tastefully fitted without losing its original charm. The team is clearly pushing hard to get the star they rightly held in Bubendorf - won't surprise me if it is sooner rather than later!

From the chef's recommendations, to the server's elegant and knowledgeable level of service - we were more than impressed and immediately trusted that they understood our needs. Went here to celebrate a special birthday and had a wonderful night. This is exactly the type of high-end restaurant which was missing in Basel. The new location is lively, stylish and suits the service and food & beverage offered. Very cool & knowledgeable service team and heartfelt interactions from the chef and kitchen team. No fuss about dress code / come as you are (creates a diverse more interesting crowd than at other ** restaurants) We requested a mix of alcoholic and non alcoholic pairings - absolutely fantastic! We had the business lunch with a wine pairing on Thursday and it was an absolutely exquisite experience. Each course is artfully prepared and served yet approachable and without pretension. The wine pairing was one of the best I’ve had. The wines choices were well thought out and a lovely balance with each course. Service was impeccable. Staff was warm and friendly yet professional and knowledgeable about everything they served. Overall a lovely experience not to be missed.

2nd review here. Just wanted to also point out how well the sandwiches travel if the take out option is used for the Philly cheese sandwiches and a vegetarian egg sandwich. From the restaurant in Gebenstorf, we drove to the Badi in Brugg, it's a good 15 minute journey and they were perfect! See photos

Don’t be afraid of the location and restaurant from the outside! Delicious food, well presented, the dishes were well balanced and creative, but the only downside is that there wasn’t enough in a plate. The non-alcoholic beverage pairing was very nice and paired nicely with every dish. The service was good because the waiters were friendly, and in terms of formality it wasn’t too formal. The atmosphere was very nice. The tables were spacious and the lighting was good. I really enjoyed the personalized letter that was on the table when I arrived.

Amazing chocolate that isn't presented in such a pretentious manner like the other confectionery shops in Basel. Their chocolate cakes are rich and dense, the hot chocolates are velvety and beautiful. Their own brand chocolate bars are also delicious and a reasonable price. The olive oil one is something special. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Loved this place.

Grabbed the chocolate cherry tortes and the rosemary and salted almond one. Absolutely dreamy. Think ganache with a slight crust of having met an oven at some point in its lifetime. At CHF6.50 a slice that's very reasonable for the standard and quality of ingredients. They'd definitely charge more in London. Lovely staff as well.

Simply amazing for chocolate lovers!!! They have a hot chocolate drink you consume with a spoon. The chocolate torte is sublime. We left with so much drinking chocolate and couverture chocolate. Indulge!!!

Outstanding cheese shop with a wide variety of regionally sourced products, including wine, pickles, preserves and bread. Extremely friendly and helpful service. Be sure to book a table at their fondue Stübli during the annual Herbstmesse! They have a really unique selection that rivals the best cheese shops I've seen across the world.

Tibits restaurants are our all time favorite all over Switzerland. It was our first night in Basel and we came here walking (thanks to google) for dinner. Though there was outdoor seating but due to cold weather everyone was indoor. We started with white wine and whiskey with Nachos. I don't know why they don't serve scotch whiskey ? The buffet spread of veg and vegan dishes was great. There were many Indian dishes. The concept of paying as per weight is good. The food was delicious. The staff was very helpful. The washroom was upstairs. While coming down, one of the staff found me struggling. He took me behind kitchen and brought me down by service elevator. Thanks a lot. The ambiance was great, totally family oriented. Don't miss it when in Switzerland...

While visiting Basel, I ate here twice in two days. I loved the inventive vegan selection and all the different choices of area to sit in. Some real thought has gone into this place (for example, types of food, no smoking outside, coat hooks, bag hooks, plug points), which is rarely seen. If I lived here nearby, I would eat here VERY OFTEN. Great service, too.

I have paid 20CHF for my salad - it was delicious and fresh - would come here again :) it's a self-service restaurant- you take your plate, serve yourself a food and then pay for the weight ( they don't explain details on how they weigh it, though i didn't ask )

If you’re looking for an authentic Lebanese or Arab restaurant, Za Zaa - Lebanese Soul Food is not the place for you. Despite its name, this is actually a vegetarian restaurant, with only two or three Lebanese-inspired dishes on the menu. The rest of the food has little to do with Lebanese or Middle Eastern cuisine. That being said, if you’re vegetarian or vegan, you might enjoy the variety of plant-based dishes they offer. However, be prepared for high prices, as the food is quite expensive for what you get. The restaurant is also very crowded, which can make it a bit uncomfortable during peak hours. On the positive side, the staff is highly professional and quick, ensuring a smooth dining experience. If you’re specifically searching for Lebanese food, I’d recommend looking elsewhere, but if you’re open to a vegetarian menu and don’t mind the price, you might enjoy it.

We were at Zazaa today for lunch and thought there would be meat, but one of the male staff treated us a little strangely and too nicely, as if we were children or because we were women. That was upsetting for us. We left the restaurant because we wanted to eat meat. The atmosphere and the other staff were nice and it also smelled good. So, this restaurant is definitely good for vegetarians.

Stumbled upon this restaurant on my way back to hotel Rochat, and the smell of food was wavering to the street. The waitresses Sam, Debbi and Laura were very warm and friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and fulfilling and the atmosphere was relaxing with the oriental decor and the little Persian style carpets. We went to eat at Zazaa with a group today. The food was okay, but a little too bland for my taste. However, the restaurant is very attractive and pretty throughout. The waiter who served us, on the other hand, was not so great. He was inattentive, didn't really take care of us and played around on his mobile phone from time to time. He was actually more interested in the female guests sitting with us. Was a bit annoying honestly… At least the other staff were very nice and friendly.

Left Without Ordering- lots of young waitstaff at the hostess station and lots of empty tables. They seated us right next to an office door that opens and closes and one person can only look at the door. We asked to move to one of the many other open two seat tables but were told that they were all reserved? Did not like his attitude. Then we realized the appetizer plate was dirty with a visible streak of something left on it. Left without ordering. I know they know we’re just tourists and that they’ll never see us again but that’s just not good business.

Still one of our go to places to celebrate in Basel. Never had a bad meal. Bonus is that in the summer their air-conditioning is one of the best I have experienced in Basel. For those with babies the changing facilities are excellent and they even have emergency nappies.

Wonderful place for Asian fusion food in Basel. Came here with a colleague for dinner and was pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. We had the gyoza and shrimp for starters, the risotto and salmon for mains and the chocolate fondant for dessert. Everything was great and would recommend this place if you want a switch from Italian and Swiss good.

I am amazed by this incredible restaurant. It is by far the best sushi and saki I have ever had! Kimihide Ishiguro is a sushi master, and he was able to craft specialty custom-made sushi for me per request. This made it possible for me to enjoy the sushi here for my birthday, as I am gluten free and vegan and typically have a hard time finding a place to appreciate sushi. I am so impressed, and thankful to have this wonderful place in Basel, Switzerland to enjoy the best sushi in the world!

We went there excited seeing the positive reviews on google, hoping for very good and authentic asian food, unfortunately our overall experience was not recommandable and we wouldn't come back. We took 2 starters that we shared, the Tom kha soup and the Papaya salad, which were presented well and were pretty good even though they were pretty expensive for just starters. Our big deception came from the main dishes, we had 2x Soba noodles with Duck, 1x Soba noodles vegeterian and 1x Fried rice with chicken. They were presented in warmed and very nice plates so presentation was very nice, however the most important is how the food tastes and the price. The soba noodles sauce was too sweet with barely any veggies, the duck was dry and served in big chunks which didn't make it enjoyable. The fried rice had a good woke hay but that's about it, barely any veggies or variation. And when you consider prices of 44 CHF for one of those it is way overpriced. With such high prices we expected way more authenticity and quality. The service was also relatively slow, and not the most professional or welcoming. On top of that all 4 of us had bad stomach issues later that night and the next day, really disappointing considering the excessive price we paid (280 CHF for 4 persons) to get stomach pain and well presented average asian food. P.S. The Yuzu Sour cocktail for 19 CHF was also not worth it, it is quite small and just not up to standard.

Its supposed to be one of the best Sushi places in Basel. Well in short, its NOT. Has Asian dishes, Sushi/Sashimi, limited selections, no music, almost empty despite them stating a reservation is required. But nevertheless, the food was fulfilling. I had reviewed the reviews and opted for the sushi tower which was almost satisfactory. Some items were Toooo salty though. Edamame received cold. Udon with beef strips was delish to be honest but heavy and felt with gravy. Couldnt finish my plate but still managed. All in all expect to drop a couple of hundred francs for food (with no alcohol).😳😳

The server was not really friendly either and he definitely did not like the fact that we did not want starters and rushed things from then on. The terras itself was nice enough but all in all it was not the warm and welcoming place you would be looking for. We do not recommend at all, if you're a foodie and/or want value for your money, don't go here!

Nice restaurant close the the station with outside seating away from cars. The food was Italian with a twist. The starter (sweetbread) came with some tough brown crackers which didn’t taste very nice and were a bit tough. The octopus for the main was nice but the portion of rice was a bit missing flavour. We had a wonderful experience at Acqua in Basel. The place is stunning – an old water pumping station turned into a stylish industrial-chic restaurant with a lovely terrace. Perfect atmosphere for both a relaxed dinner and a special occasion. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the Italian-inspired dishes were beautifully presented with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We especially enjoyed the pasta and seafood options. The only small downside is that it can get a bit noisy when it’s busy, and sometimes service takes a little longer. Overall, a great spot in Basel that I would definitely recommend!

I visited this wonderful place last year. I recommend coming in the dusk/evening as the place is beautifully set out and atmospherically lit. The food was fantastic; I had scallops that were cooked to perfection, then rabbit, which was melt in the mouth. I can't recall the wine we selected but it was excellent. If anything, it's a little bit pricey, but it's a wonderful place to go for a romantic meal or special occasion.

The Mexican food was really bad. The cooking tasted super amateur, and the salad portion was tiny, as you can see in the picture. When we pointed it out, the waitress just said, 'This time it happened to be like this.' It was also overpriced.

The food was ok but one of my friends had diarrhea all night and another friend vomited. Some food definitely was not fresh.

We were a bit concerned about the smell of cigarette smoke coming in from outside, but the server quickly closed the door to fix it. She was very kind and efficient. During our trip, we were really craving something spicy — and the food here was just perfect for that! My nephew even said, "It’s sad we can only give 5 stars!" Everyone in our family ate more than usual, but the portions were so big that we still had leftovers to take. It was hard to find a good restaurant on this trip because many places were too salty. But here, everything was well-balanced and delicious. Three generations of our family came together for this meal, and everyone—from grandparents to kids—was completely satisfied. Also, the man who seemed to be the chef or the owner was very kind and welcoming!

We visited Restaurant El Mexicano Basel on our first night to Basel. The restaurant was brightly themed, fun, and clean. We were sat promptly and our server was quite attentive. We had great service and drinks. The food unfortunately is not close to "Mexican" food at all - the enchiladas were hit and miss on flavor, despite this. We still enjoyed our time while here.

The food is ok. Not amazing but not bad either. It is the mains street so the price is higher than anywhere else. However the staff behavior is questionable. They always act as they make you a favor to serve you. If you are not at least an 8 people table you will be served rudely.

At first glance, it may look like a tourist trap, but don’t be fooled—it’s a genuinely good restaurant. The food is exceptionally flavorful, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is cozy with a traditional interior. It’s exactly the kind of place I enjoy dining at. If there’s room for improvement, it would be slightly larger portions and perhaps the addition of schnitzel or cordon bleu to the menu. Overall, the taste, the ambiance, and the service are all excellent. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Nice place for dinner, the food was well prepared with a couple of fusion touches and flavours. Unfortunately the place was way too hot (not just my opinion, but the majority of our large group) l, with insufficient ventilation, making for an uncomfortable dinner experience.

We chanced upon Zum Isaak on a late Sunday afternoon walking through Basel. Aside from being beautifully located on the square opposite the minster; we were looked after so nicely by all the staff. We have a 1 year old as well who was catered for and entertained by the team at Zum Isaak too. Our meal was delicious, the wine was exquisite & the poir William & ice cream desert was heavenly. Thank you for making our stay in Basel so lovely.

Läckerli is a traditional spiced biscuit from Basel, made from honey, almonds, candied citrus peel, and a blend of spices like cinnamon and cloves. The dough is baked, cut into rectangles, and typically coated with a sugar glaze. Dense and chewy in texture, Läckerli is especially popular around holidays. The name comes from Swiss German: “läcker” means “tasty” (related to Standard German lecker), and “-li” is a diminutive suffix, so “Läckerli” roughly means “little tasty thing.”

I recommend this restaurant for a mouthwatering (business) lunch in the garden or inside. They offer a daily dish (Tagesmenü) and a variety of menus e.g. fish with potatoes. It is also a great place to drop in on a Sunday afternoon after some activity with the kids for a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake. The restaurant is located just next to the Basler Münster.

We waited 30min and no one really cares about us. I have to go inside and complain about it. Curiously, it was not the case of the other tables were people spoken german. Service was really awfull. One of the worst in my life. If I could I would have set 0 star. One of the waitresses was really lost, didn't know what to do. Other tables were served and the other waitress came to take our order again. 1 hour to be served, no really excuse, no commercial gesture. Food was OK at least. Just go elsewhere especially if you are strangers

Nice traditional location, professional service, classic Italian menu. The BEST is the desert wagon - a huge selection of deserts to mix and match from, I mixed three pieces (incl an amazing tiramisu), and it’s definitely the best part of the entire experience, so leave space! One star less for the wine selection… I don’t understand how a restaurant can be part of Bindella and not have a broader selection of old wines - it really just doesn’t square with the restaurant either.

Really nice restaurant, with a nice deco. The dinner service was done very professional and friendly. The dishes were well presented. The quality was good, but nothing exceptional. The dishes (both pasta and meat) were missing taste. The pasta (tagliatelle, tagliolini) were cook al dente but not much taste.

The outdoor area was filled with pizza lovers but if you like some peace and quiet from the busy shopping area outside, the second floor is a good option. It is fine dining although the clients are of the casual types. The place is also filled with art and a lot of bronze sculpture. Starters, main course and the amusing dessert rolling station are all exceptional. The service staff are like figures from a 50s black and white movie with impeccable manners and service. The filleted Branzino with fresh spinach is an outstanding choice for pescatarians.

Climbing the narrow staircase to the first floor, you push open the door and step straight into timeless Italy. Donati is far more than a restaurant—it’s an experience. The bustle of the outside world just fades away And then there’s the chariot des desserts—my true Madeleine de Proust, awakening cherished memories with every bite. The cuisine is superb, but it’s this sense of traveling through space, time, and memory that makes a meal here unforgettable.

We had booked here for a special event based on my friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. As it was a summer evening, we sat outside on the balcony and enjoyed the stunning views onto the Rhine. Service was very good and charming, the scaloppine al limone tart and just the way I like it. Whilst I only had a couple of spoons of the tiramisu, it was excellent.

It’s a very upscale Italian restaurant in Basel, beside the Rhine River. It’s pricy but the food, the service and the ambiance of the restaurant show the value. It will be my first pick for celebrating special occasions with friends and family!

High quality, handmade pasta and food made with passion and class. Even with a wide selection of courses and dishes, the staff made every possible wish a reality. Food is good, just overpriced for the amount of food that you get. Service is very disorganized (if you’ve never been to the place and you make a reservation, there is no one to receive you at the entrance and explain to you what to do or to ask about your reservation) and the place is very loud.

Absolutely the best café in Basel! Every time I visit the city, my day starts with breakfast at Unteremitte. It’s become my little ritual. The place has such a relaxed vibe, the staff are super friendly, and everything they serve is top quality. I love their coffee and fresh Gipfeli (forgive my pronunciation 😅). It always feels warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to be back.

Visiting Unternehmen Mitte is always a pleasure - they serve some of the best coffee in Basel, and the atmosphere is always very welcoming. I also really appreciate that there‘s no pressure to order anything in order to stay. On this particular visit, I had a homemade iced tea and the raspberry cheesecake - both were delicious, highly recommended! My friend ordered a cold chai and the lemon cheesecake. While the chai was great, the lemon cheesecake was a bit disappointing, the base was overly lemony, and she couldn‘t finish it. That aside, we both really enjoyed our time there!

Caution! Neither LBGTQ+ nor glide sports friendly at all! They pretend to be cool with vintage design and tattooed waiters BUT they lynch queer and fashionable people there. I was visiting Basel nightly on my skate, riding shirtless between nice welcoming crowd, taxis, trams AND police patrols (great and funny! police in Basel btw) without a single problem. The waiter’s first words as I entered there to get a coke were: “Dress you up!” One would never hear that on the west coast, never in Amsterdam or Berlin, never in Klein-Basel where one has places like Kaserne and the Kebab-Shop next to it, that are very positive and respectful towards queers and commitment to glide sports. But in Big-Basel one has those cynical moralists from Unternehmen Mitte, which is an utmost uncool place.

The place looks nice and the staff are kind, but the problem clearly lies with the management. The delays are excessive, and it’s obvious there are not enough employees. Prices are normal – not cheap – so customers should expect proper service, not long waits and self-service frustration. This trend in Switzerland where you pay full price but do half the work yourself is getting tiring. The owners should hire more staff and rethink the concept before relying on aesthetics to make up for poor organization.

Very spacious restaurant in a great location with good vegetarian/vegan food. The coffee and the brunch were delicious and came with a lot of food. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t busy but I would recommend to book a table if going with a group.

Got the tarte flambee with bacon and onion and the bhudda bowl with tandoori chicken. The bhudda bowl is a variety of items in the salad but not really worth it for the price of 25 CHF. Not enough chicken The tarte flambee on the other hand was thin and delightful. Perfect for sharing. Nice atmosphere and good for a lunch meal before going to the paper mill musuem next door

Popped in during a thunderstorm to get out of the rain and enjoyed a Cappuccino and a slice of carrot cake. Loved the pub like atmosphere and service was great for the amount of people coming in at one time so close to closing.

I had a fantastic time at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The location is perfect, right near the Rhine, and the terrace is especially lovely in the summer. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the view. The service was also top-notch — our waitress was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. On top of all that, the prices are very fair for the quality and setting. Nice food, but slow. Long wait between courses. Service was very slow - which was surprising for a Michelin guide restaurant. Cutlery wasn’t replaced or changed between courses; after the cocktails we requested right at the start of the meal, we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else to drink throughout the meal; we had to ask for more water after our bottle was empty for 20 mins. A nice restaurant, but being Michelin guide raised our expectations to other similar restaurants and overall we were left disappointed.

Wow. First of all, the atmosphere was amazing - intimate and cozy yet modern. But man, the food was incredible! I think the menu rotates but some of my favorites were the celery/white chocolate/quinoa soup, grilled lettuce with potato ice cream & truffle shavings, truffle tagliatelle w egg, and the venison with spatzle and cherry. Prices are set for 3, 4, or 5 plates per person; my friend and I ordered 4 each (to try the full menu of 8 items total) and we were quite full (but very happy). The service was great, from recommending good wines to asking if we needed a break between courses (which we did). Overall, it was excellent!!

My review is based on the bar, as I didn’t have dinner there. It felt a bit overrated, cocktail was just a regular cocktail not even cold enough…. You pay more for the views of the terrace that in the weekend is too crowded (no music in the background ) just a lot of noise of someone’s else conversations

Combination of beyond boundaries world food, such as kimuchi, katsuo-dashi, greek cheese, chili, coriander, olive and so on… You would be surprised at how they mush up each typical traditional food and ingredients of each country and region. It is very creative but looks and taste is very simple, of course deeply tasty.

If you are in Basel and want a really fun place to eat this is the place. We had Thai and Vietnamese meals there both were fresh and delicious. Service was quick and the atmosphere is local young and relaxed.

Klarna has a fantastic collection of food offerings with a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. Our favourites were the cactus tacos, the veggie momos, the pita bar and the pasta place. We visited 3 times during our stay in Basel because they had so many great options. All good was fresh and tasty, I'd probably recommend the Thai place last just because the Pad Thai was really salty.

The setting is a self service, street food like, but the price as high as the most restaurant. I had much better version of Buncha in a resto with the same amount of money, 23 CHF. The salad that came with empanada was one of the worst, the string beans were so overcooked, the each ingredients were not appetizing at all. I think I will not return here.

Great place with a huge variety of international cuisine. Freshly made and portions are fair in relation to the price. Huge space to have also just drinks with friends and séparée, lounge and bar.

A good market offering a selection of cuisines. African, Indian, Italian, Vietnamese, and a few more. I had pho and spring rolls, which were delicious. Good atmosphere, too. There are plenty of tables to sit at, as well as a bar. Compared to other restaurants in Basel, the prices are reasonable. There is a tram stop right outside and the market is accessible.

Amazing experience, the team and myself just got spoiled. The quality of food and wine is really outstanding, the service impeccable. Was easy to communicate and select the menu with the chef per email, can only imagine how these professionals must be during the day. Will be back again.

Considering the restaurant has many Gualt Millau points, I wasn't too impressed. The preparation looked lovely and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice too, however I didn't think the tastes really came out as I'd hoped they would. I found it too fussy and for me not worth the high price.

Nice Mexican restaurant 10 mins walk from the train station. We had the quesadillas and mixed tacos. Taste and flavour were good though the taco filling portions were a tad small. We found it a bit pricy though, despite being in city center. Good for a quick bite before heading off to catch the train.

Went here on a wednesday evening and it was very pleasant. We were two people and shared a sampler platter. The food was really good and our server was great! The restaurant was packed so i recommend reserving. Despite it being quite loud the atmosphere was still relaxed. Will be coming again!

Great Mexican food. We had tortilla chips with delicious salsa and guacamole; chicken burrito, chicken quesadillas, sweetcorn “ribs” and sweet potato fries. It was all super tasty. The portions were large (we couldn’t eat it all). We had a glass or two of the lovely Italian wine (Vermentino) with the meal, Super friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

It is very nice please with a good atmosphere. Service is amazing! However, I decreased by evaluation because of paid water - 11 CHF for 1l carafe. In Switzerland where you can easily drink tap/fountain water having carafe for this cost - that has not been communicated is a minus from my perspective. Great place to have a lovely dinner. Brew their own beer, but wines are nice too. Food is good, menu is ambitious and overall at quite a high level. Some dishes are better than others though. Service is very attentive, bathrooms are ok.

After having been to Matt & Elly for some beer tasting I proposed it for a joint wedding day anniversary celebration with our close friends. And we simply had a wonderful meal and time 🤗 We all chose the surprise meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. Starter, first and main The food and tastes were inspired by the culinary background of their South American chef and simply delicious! And all dishes worked well with either beer or wine. Dessert was very nice, I personally can recommend the cheese platter (beautiful choice of cheeses from small producers). Elly is the most accommodating and warm-hearted hostess/owner I’ve encountered in a long time. It is always a pleasure to hang out there, no matter if you are just chilling with a beer or having a date night. We recently had our Valentine’s dinner there and it was gourmet quality, well-presented and everything tasted great. Wine recommendations were spot on as usual.

Might as well close this location. Dominos is meant to be a late night meal. The concept is lost on them. If you can’t order after 22:00 then there is literally no point. Incredible what kind of customer service, food quality and cleanliness I witnessed here today. Having worked in the kitchen for more then 10 years and leaving the kitchens as a head chef of a couple of establishments, this is absolutely lowest of levels I have ever witnessed. Food stood there and grew cold whilst we waited. They just forgot about us with only one other order in the whole establishment. Meanwhile they were chattering like chicken in french which would not bother me at all if the service, food and amenities like napkins were all on point. Chicken strippers are the lowest quality of food I have ever had since New Dheli and the pizza was not hot anymore with a dough that you could just call spongey gum. Lastly, only the cassier spoke half decent german. When asked if they had tape they had to riddle and argue between themselves in french with the other 2 kids in the production area just not understanding neither german nor actual english. Safe your money and go elsewhere. You'll thank me later.

Ordered a two pizza deal to be delivered. They rang straight away to check my order, which was really good of them. The pizza was delivered within 20 minutes of speaking to them. They were super hot and tasty and I was really pleased with the vegetable serving on my pizza, usually I’m always disappointed when I order my (no cheese vegetable pizza) because the usual places will give very little vegetables but not here! An alternative cafe/ restaurant near the university campus. There were lots of young people chatting and working on laptops all over the restaurant. I had a foccacia sandwich and coffee. Both were good. The lady server informed us that everything is made fresh on the premises and that was great to know. It was a very laid-back environment.

Oat milk here is not a barista variant, resulting in soapy and large foam coffee with an unappetizing taste. Quiche was still cold after waiting 5+ minutes for the staff to heat it up at the café and was mostly tasteless. Not worth the money, will not come back.

Basler Läckerli is a local speciality and is definitely something to accompany a visit to the city. Jakob's is particularly famous in the area and follows a recipe dating back to 1736! The shop is nextdoor to the bakery itself and has a great selection of treats and gifts for locals and tourists alike.

Traditional leckerli, probably my favorite from Basel. I love the fantastic smell lingering around in the streets nearby on my way to work! And one can look into their bakery from the street, and see the work in progress! 😊

I really quite enjoyed the tour of the bakery, it was something different and unique to do in our time in Basel. However, and I almost hesitate to say this given I'll likely be banned from ever entering Switzerland again, I found the Leckerli rather disappointing and, dare I say it, a little over-hyped. They are nothing much to write about (even though I'm doing that now) and, for my liking, a little dry. I should know, I ate 14 of them during the tour then brought a bag to take home afterwards! The bag however was for my Mum so I can prove to her she still makes the best biscuits ever. Then again, the biscuits have been around more than 200 years than I have and will surely be here long after I'm gone, so what do I know really? I'd recommend a visit to the Bakery for the tour (especially as it's half price at time of writing with the Basel card) purely as it's something a little different, fun to do and the passion of the people working here clearly shines through. I just didn't get as enthusiastic about the biscuits as our host.

Jakob's Basler Leckerly are the best! Hidden jewel of Basel, definitely worth the short walk! The family owned store is authentic and traditional, I found a couple of sweets for my loved ones and myself. Tip, if you take your time you might get a free story about the history of their Basler Leckerly.

For a team event, we decided to visit the Basler Leckerly Manufaktur. We had a very insightful and yummy company visit with a fun team challenge in the end. We could feel the passion of everyone working at the company and were impressed by the personal attention. I can highly recommend a company visit and of course the original Basler Leckerly!

Coffee was okay, but not great. Unfortunately there is only take-away. I would've appreciated cow milk as an option for my cappuccino, as I dislike the taste of vegan alternatives. I didn't realise it when I entered, but it's a vegan place. So fair enough. The high prices for coffee are to be expected in Switzerland. That said, staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is great thanks to tasteful witchy decorations. The donut was delicious and the taste of lavender really came through.

Amazing vegan bakery and coffee shop in a very cute old building. The shop is tiny but full of kindness, warmth, and an inclusive vibe. The pride flag hangout outside is a bonus too! The two doughnuts I got are amazing and the coffee is as well. Definitely worth a stop for any vegan (or non-vegan) in the city!

While walking around we spotted this place, with all vegan made delights! It was very small inside and no seating but that didn’t stop us from order one of everything they had! The gentleman that took our order was very friendly and helping in explaining each treat and what was in it.. even if you are not vegan you will really enjoy the flavors.

Fantastic donuts and a very friendly store manager who explained everything to us (His name was Luke). We had a "RASPBERRY CHANTILLY" and a "MELON MINT"; both were super tasty! The donuts change regularly and are made fresh daily. The great thing, they are not so heavy on the stomach. Maybe because they are vegan. Priced totally within reason. Such local small stores should be supported! Keep it up!

Great bar with a big selection of cocktails. Cocktails are really well made. Love their thin french fries. Service however is quite slow and when they are busy it takes awhile for drinks. They forgot out food so we had to go and remind them.

First of all, the interior of the bar is absolutely stunning. The staff are not only friendly but also highly professional. The drinks are very good, making for an overall fantastic experience.

With the bar half full it still took 25mins for a Campari and a Bloody Mary. When asked about the delay, there was no sorry, they just started arguing. Very weird. When paying contactless, no receipt was offered and upon asking for the receipt the waitress mumbled that she wasn’t a thief … strangest experience at an old, once well known and visited institution in Basel.

This is probably the best burger place in Basel. I've tried the classic, Argentino, and raclette smashburgers and all of them were amazing. The sauces are really good, the meat is cooked well, the fries are crispy, and the lunch deal price is great for what you get. Highly recommend!

Friendly staff - we had a megatron and they we’re running a limited edition called MacGyver, both were really really good. They were so good in fact that we ordered two more of the classic smash burgers before I forget we also had the sweet potato fries with truffle mayo. If you like to eat, come here for a burger.

Today we tested panda smash burger at Güterstrasse 130 in Basel! At first I was sceptical as there are already several Smash Burger concepts in Basel! But I was pleasantly surprised once again! It starts with the buns, which were sensationally fluffy and soft! Combination of meat, salad and sauce! Explodes my palate! I had the McDreamy! Price: 5/5 (very favourable compared to the competition) Friendliness: 5/5 Flavour: 5/5 Location: 5/5 I can't wait to visit you again!

Nice new burger place with great atmosphere. It is more like a street food burger place as you don't have cutleries so it can be messy. The burger bun is quite different than in any usual burger place, but it is working. The fries is a mix of sweat and normal fries together with ketchup and mayo. It was quite delicious but they might should offer a not mix version as well. All together I paid 20 CHF for a burger with fries, which is not bad in Switzerland. I would love to see maybe more starter and desert options later. I hope the place will thrive and we have a great new option on the street.

Today we tried this restaurant. I have to say the dishes were tasty, and the extra spicy sauce is amazing! However, in my opinion, the portions are very small and very expensive. After finishing my rice noodle dish, I was still very hungry, and I paid over 25 CHF. That’s why I was super disappointed. Other than that, it’s very tasty, but I wouldn’t buy again due to the high price and small portions.

I hate just coming here to complain about restaurants but I just feel compelled to do so. What a bizarre interaction. First he told us they were closed, but he can sell us the spring rolls. “Ah, on Google it says you’re open until 10pm and it’s 9:34pm.” “Wanna bet?” Yes, he really got all weird and said wanna bet. So I opened Google and showed him. “That’s not us.” “It has the same name as the sign behind you.” He mumbled something I didnt understand and I let it go. Then we get the food. Two spring rolls. The photo on the menu is 4. It’s 9 francs! I point to the gigantic photo and say it shows 4 spring rolls. First he says it’s just an ad. Then he insists it shows 2 that are cut in half. You can see for yourself in the photos, it is most definitely 4. Why does this matter? It doesn’t. It was just so weird to have such a strange and confrontational encounter with someone whose food my wife was very excited to try. Also the spring rolls weren’t very good and they used the wrong sauce ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I recently visited Saigon (Ho Chi Min City) and went to the 2 Michelin-mentioned restaurants for the best Banh Mi sandwiches. They were very good, but I’m here to tell you that Non la’s Bahn Mi is better. Non la’s other dishes, (especially the Sommer Roles) also are terrific. The best Vietnamese food in Basel.
