German restaurant
Restaurant
Located near the Sebalduskirche, Bratwursthäusle has been serving original Nurnberger Rostbratwurste since 1313. The sausages are cooked over a wood fire, giving them a distinct beechwood flavor. This historic establishment also houses its own butcher shop where Nuremberg specialties are freshly prepared daily.
I visited this restaurant twice in two days. The roasted pork shoulder is a must-try—crispy skin like popcorn and flavorful gravy. On my second visit, I had the Nuremberg sausages with sauerkraut and potato salad, all delicious. Sitting outside in mid-August was perfect. Friendly staff and great service. A place you shouldn’t miss when in Nuremberg.
Biow Y — Google review
Great location in the historic city center of Nuremberg. Few min away from the castle. The local sausages are fantastic as well as a decent beer selection. Service can be a little slow at times.

A very unique place, a bit small, but you're immersed in the atmosphere, the warmth, and the smells of good food. The food is excellent; you can't miss the strudel! (photo from months ago)
Lorella M — Google review
Delicious local food! The Nuremberg sausages were perfectly grilled — smoky and flavorful. I also loved the sausage soup with onion, warm and comforting, ang roast pork. Don’t miss the potato salad
Subencha P — Google review
I come here every time I visit Germany! Their bratwurst are so good and the raddlers are refreshing! I love their kartoffelsalat and the staff are always very nice and attentive! The bathrooms are very clean and they bring the food and drinks very quickly. Try the apfel strudel!!
Jeszi P — Google review
Best Nurnberg sausages. Lovely patio, good service, great food. A local in a museum shop told us he eats here regularly. Now I know why, it is awesome.
J B — Google review
A truly over-rated restaurant, food and service sucks. Guess it’s popular because it’s on the main street. We tried 2 other restaurants that are within 1 minute away and they were so much better! The soup was so salty that we left it after just a spoonful. The bread was so hard. The pork shoulder was ok but not the best around. We did not try the dessert since we didn’t like the food. We went at 6pm and they closed the outside umbrella sitting area, packed everyone at the upper deck. We do not recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Fun F — Google review
Absolutely loved this restaurant in Nuremberg! The famous Nuremberg sausages were outstanding – perfectly grilled, full of flavor, and served just right. A true local specialty that lives up to its reputation. The atmosphere was cozy and authentic, and the service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the city and looking to enjoy real Nuremberg flavors!

Went there twice, the 5 star review is especially deserved for the roasted pork shoulder Krustenschaufele, which was delicious and large. A nice place too, by/over the river.
Michael C — Google review
A typical Bavarian restaurant, the Christmas decorations really added to the atmosphere. The food is good, but the portions are very small for the price. The apple strudel, on the other hand, was horrible: it tasted like a frozen one, was half-baked and chewy. The service is fast but not very polite. Overall, not a very good experience.
Susanna F — Google review
Really liked the atmosphere, warm and inviting. The food was pretty good, not great. I had the Krustenschaufele (roasted pork shoulder) which was very tender and delicious. 5 stars. My wife meal was just ok. The Vanilla ice cream with Warm cherry sauce was very nice. What really stood out was our waiter Gregor. Unlike most service in Germany, he was very attentive, explained the menu and meals to us, and stopped to chat after the meal asking about our trip. That earned Gregor and American sized tip.
Tom C — Google review
Service and ambiance was great! We were a bit disappointed with both the food and beer but that might be subjective. We had no redervation and were seated spontaneously and quickly. While eating we were left undisturbed to enjoy our meal - which was a nice surprise for introverts who dispise the constant check-ins mid-bite 😝 Steak seemed off unfortunately.. maybe an unlucky piece, was very fatty and oily but not in a juicy/full way. Staff was very friendly, no complaints. The price was adequate given the location. Tasty salad with herbs, salt and vinegar! Potato salad was nice too.
Kati A — Google review
Very atmospheric traditional Bavarian restaurant with great views. As non-meat eaters we can find Germany a culinary challenge but the cheese paste starter, pike perch and carp were all flavoursome and very filling. Great value.
Louisa M — Google review
We came with a group. We loved the environment and vibe, a classic place for family or formal activities. The food was fine. We had fried pork chop and steak, the pork tasted good with crispy outside, the steak was on the dry side. I'm not sure this is typical Bavarian cooking.
Zemin B — Google review
It’s true German food place with nice vibes and great atmosphere. Wine is by glass simple one, nothing fancy, fish and meat for main, some salads and seasonal dishes. Quite busy and better reserve a table. Good for a group gatherings
Katerina K — Google review
We were back after 6 years. This was always my husband's favorite restaurant and he had the Schaufele, which was very good, I had venison gulasch that was also very good. With that I had the house frankish red wine which I took a sip and had to spit it out as it had turned into something worse than vinegar. I told the waiter about it and he tried to convince me that this was just how frankish wine tasted. Now, I happen to know frankish wine, and I know that it can be on the very dry side but this was just bad wine. After some more arguing he offered to bring me another wine, which turned out to be exactly the same at a cost of $9 it was undrinkable. This waiter had no business working in this kind of a restaurant as untrained and unprofessional as he was!

Restaurant
Zum Gulden Stern - Historische Bratwurstküche is a historic restaurant located in Nuremberg, known for serving traditional sausage-based dishes. It is considered the oldest bratwurst restaurant in the world, with a tradition of hand-crafted sausages made according to authentic recipes. The sausages are marinated, smoked, and grilled over beech wood fire without boiling them ahead of time.
OMG! I had the MOST delicious brats & sauerkraut here! I was in Germany as a child and finally made it back. These brats brought back fond memories! They are cooked to order by a wonderful chef! So good! We came for lunch, then dinner the next day! The atmosphere is authentic & cozy. The service was friendly and accommodating.
Cindy S — Google review
Despite the satisfying food and the fascinating historical atmosphere, the waitress was completely unfriendly. She did not like first amount of which we had ordered, and she asked several times: "Is that all?" (This did not mean: "Is that all, What did you order?"). The food was again served in a rude manner. When it was time to pay, she pulled out the credit card reader. She covered the card touching area with the paper in her hand and showed the screen which showing the waitress tips menu “a kind of forced “ us for a tip, by pointing to the area on the device. I can say, that there are dozens of similar complaints about her on Asian social media accounts. I believe, such a historic place could be better off with much more professional and customer-oriented waiters. Waiters means not only, To take orders and bring food to the table; it is also about, To give the customer the feeling, welcome to be here. Even in a hospital doctor try to calm the patients and give them a sense of good vibe . But to be treated like that by a waiter in a restaurant . It was absolutely unpleasant. Even me, who usually doesn't comment any bad things and try share positive things always , I feel this time to let the know people what can be waiting for them with her , and there is absolutely no misunderstanding or anything like that. It is completely rude and intended waiters behavior.

We arrived in Germany after an exhausting train ride from France and were very excited to have some authentic German food, and we were not disappointed! We walked in and were seated upstairs either a view of below and immediately, a very friendly gentleman offered to assist us in ordering what was good on the menu. He was so charismatic and helpful, catered several different dishes and we throughly enjoyed every single dish. From the yummy potato soup, refreshing salad, cheese dip with bread, a main dish of large and small brats and pork tenderloin with herb butter, it was all so delicious. We raved over the potato salad as well and are already trying g to figure out how to recreate the dish for our family back in the US. We indulged in the apple strudel and the plum parfait and found those delightful. We can’t say enough about the food served and the service. We have to leave tomorrow for our next stop in Europe and are excited to go to our last dinner in Germany again at this lovely establishment. Will recommend to anyone 100%.

Tourist review: Historic venue to eat Nuremberg bratwurst - Zum Gulden Stern serves delicious bratwurst and beer! Came here and got the mixed platter from the grill with the large & small bratwursts, pork medallions and a side of sauerkraut. All the food was absolutely delicious - the small bratwursts were super tasty especially and the sauerkraut was the best I’ve ever had! The dark draconian beer was also one of the best beers I’ve had in Germany - highly recommend. The restaurant itself is also very honestly and cosy, although the portions of food are a little on the smaller side. Would definitely come back!
Andrew — Google review
Visited an hour before close and loved the cozy, almost family-table atmosphere. While the food and beer were generally good rather than memorable, the salted pork knuckle with sauerkraut stood out (honestly among the best sauerkraut I've ever had as a tourist). Service was friendly.
Khiem N — Google review
This place is an experience, from the old style to the amazing sausages and beer. The day I went there was a news crew interviewing people for an article on what I assume to be some sausage boxing match. But even still the food came out timely and tasted amazing.
Kyle H — Google review
A very traditional restaurant with an amazing feeling from the moment you walk in. The girl who took us to our table was very polite and helpful. Everything we ordered was tasty and well cooked but the portions are kind of small compared to the prices and also to the other places we ate those days.

Food was delicious, staff warm and welcoming, fantastic atmosphere. What's not to like? Highly recommended to anyone visiting Nuremberg.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Nuremberg's old town, Bratwurst Röslein stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone craving hearty Franconian cuisine. This expansive eatery claims to be the largest bratwurst restaurant in the world, boasting an impressive capacity of 600 guests indoors and an additional 250 in its charming outdoor beer garden. With summer sunshine beckoning, dining al fresco here is a delightful experience.
Amazing experience!! We had a mix of several different sausages that were so good! All served with cabbage and potatoes, everything cooked in a typical way, amazing, really! Also the dessert was great, and their local beer too! And our waiter was such a nice gentleman! Despite Nürnberg being a small town compared to Munich or Frankfurt, my experience here was so much better! They gave us straight away an English menu (I don't speak German unfortunately) and the waiter spoke English as well and he was so so nice! And we had no problems paying by card (which was an issue in the other cities). Approved, 100% recommended! Also good price/value balance!

I had a fantastic meal ! The service was incredibly fast, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, with a great selection of dishes that perfectly capture the brasserie vibe. Whether you’re in a hurry or want to relax, this spot delivers both quality and efficiency. Highly recommend it!

Must visit in Nuremberg! Nuremberger sausages with horseradish, sauerkraut and potato salad. I also had the special Winemakers soup with grapes and cream. Very tasty. Ended with apple fritters and vanilla ice cream
Carol Z — Google review
The food and service was spot on. Open late when a lot of other restaurants close or close early on a Sunday. I had Semmelknödel and it came with a big salad. Ideal for an autumn night after a long day working. The bier I had was a very refreshing Pilsner. The gentleman who served me was friendly, quick and put up with my basic German practice 👍🏼🙂
Matt R — Google review
Large restaurant in the heart of the tourist frequent square of the town. The restaurant can accommodate large crowds inside and outside when good weather allows. The menu is simple. It serves the staple of the area, i.e. lots of Nuremberg sausages, potatoes and sauerkraut in line of fast food offerings. Service is typical "german", quick and rigid. They like to take order by group. Treated us like kindergarten kids, "you can order drinks now, and we will tell you when you can order foods". We ordered drinks then waited and then food when the whole area was ready. We were glad to have a place to eat and the use of the washrooms. This is more or less a tourist trap. We doubt very much if the locals would eat here.
Credible C — Google review
Offers a wide selection of traditional Franconian food and is very atmospheric inside, so is great for tourists visiting. However, the service was extremely slow. We were seated for over 30 minutes and still not served and wasn’t too busy. I went up to ask at the front and was told to just wait for the waiter, so eventually had to wave to a waitress to try and grab her attention. Food came quickly enough after we ordered but then again took a long time before we were asked about paying. Just a little more attentiveness or proactivity from the waiters would make a big difference
Tom R — Google review
It was fine, I've just had much better food in the area. And maybe this is typical restaurant style for the area but it's just a bit loud and busy for me. Also servers will ignore you even if you clearly need something. Also kind of pricey for a casual lunch.

Hausbrauerei Altstadthof - Rotbierstüberl- Brauerei und Whiskydestillerie is a charming brewery tavern located in the Nuremberg Old Town. It offers a selection of local red beer, whisky, and classic Franconian dishes in a rustic setting with a large terrace.
Excellent place for team events! We started with the escape room located in the cellar. It’s quite spacious that 8 of us can all move freely inside and the temperature is also comfortable. The content is pretty interesting, we chose the one related to historical story and everyone was enjoyed. After passing the game, we got Nürnberg original red beer as reward. There was a staff staying with us, who gave us a detail review in the end, and of course if you need help you can raise your hand at any time. After that we went to the bar for the dinner. Food and beer were very good, and we also tasted special season drink called “winter Wärmer”. Waitress were super friendly and nice. We had a wonderful time there.
JAW L — Google review
A great spot to enjoy authentic German beer! I skipped the meal hours and just enjoyed a quiet moment with beer. I’m not exactly a beer expert, but tasting different kinds and noticing their subtle differences made me realize—this is what really good beer tastes like. Experiencing that in such a historically rich city made it even more special 🍺
Hyein J — Google review
Just stopped by for a beer during a day out. The place was busy with lots of tables reserved but the helpful staff said we could sit at one for our drinks as we explained that we would only be 30 minutes as our bus was leaving shortly. We wanted to try the local beer and it didn't disappoint. If we are in the area again we will definitely go back to eat and have some more of the excellent beer.
Adam S — Google review
A great and well located brewery in the heart of Nuremberg. A bit stuffy for an interior, and the service staff didn’t seem to like Americans very much. But the beer did most of the talking, great tasting beer paired with some hearty goulash soup. Spaetzle was incredibly tasty and cooked perfectly, great with a bite of the beef! A good place to stop in for a quick bite, but the bar packs up very quickly.

Great service, friendly staff. Had the Nuremberg sausages to start then the Schnitzel and Pork Medallians. Everything was great, super generous portions. The Pork Medallians' sauce was so black-peppery! It was intense, but I love black pepper so it was amazing. The beer is great too. Just 5 stars all around!

Lovely place for a fine-dining experience! Food was great, service was lovely (although not all staff were able to introduce the dishes in English, but we had no problem figuring everything out together) and the atmosphere was cool! One thing we missed was a proper welcome: when we arrived (Saturday, 7pm) there was no one at the door to greet us. Minor point, but if you want to step up the hosting experience, that'd be a way to do it :)

An ABSOLUTE MUST VISIT when you are in Nürnberg :-). Your senses and your taste buds are about to experience an amazimg adventure. Our whole family like every bite of every dish... plus they are very family friendly

Perfect from start to finish. Every dish was full of flavour, cooked amazingly and well presented. Even the bread was delicious. The wine was also perfectly paired. Our main server Elke was fantastic, explaining every dish and wine in detail and was super attentive and friendly throughout. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed, minimal and chic which added to the overall experience. Definitely recommend.

Imperial stands out as an oasis in the culinary desert that is Nuremberg. After a week of avoiding pretzels, schnitzel, bland Indian food, something called tapas, and Italian out of the box food, Imperial was a cascade of fresh and invigorating sensory delight. I selected the five course meal which paired perfectly with a Riesling, Ruinart champagne, and an Austrian blend. I will be back, just not soon enough.

Great atmosphere and welcoming and personal service. The quality of the meat outstanding. Some interesting flavor combinations. A bit too much from the mayonnaise option in my opinion. Yeah it is well over my usual budget for my restaurant treat but for a special occasion we left with a very good impression.

This was a wonderful experience. The restaurant ambiance was amazing and felt so well loved. And that love rubs off on the wonderful staff, one of the best service models I have ever received, WELL DONE. The food was average, I expected something to blow my taste buds away which was not the case. You could see the passion the kitchen team had put into the preparation which shows in the pictures, just missed the WOW

Absolutely the best restaurant in Nürnberg. The first impression was a personal greeting from the owner of the restaurant the famous in Germany a celebrity chef Alexander Herrmann. Excellent interior design. Open kitchen. Very professional and friendly staff. Great service. Cozy and romantic atmosphere. The food was delicious. Big choice of wines, spirits and soft drinks. My recommendation is to try the "Glamour Mood" menu option. Absolutely unforgettable experience. Spent a great time in this restaurant. Restauration Kopernikus - Restaurant & Biergarten is a charming eatery that beautifully combines traditional Polish cuisine with stunning river views. This delightful spot is particularly enchanting during the summer months when guests can unwind in its serene rooftop garden, which offers picturesque sights of the city walls. The restaurant's cozy, medieval ambiance creates an inviting atmosphere perfect for both casual lunches and more formal dinners. Located just a short stroll from Hauptmarkt, it’s a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
The schnitzel and cheese filled perogies were AMAZING! The portions are HUGE and the service was perfect! Tina was our waitress tonight and she was so friendly, kind, helpful, and fun. What a great place to go eat and have a beer and glass of wine! I wish we could go back. I do recommend a reservation.

A very quaint restaurant with excellent, friendly service. We had the pork Schnitzel which was just ok. It was a bit tough. It seemed like a nice place for the locals to go. We liked it because it was away from the tourist areas. Despite the average rating of the food, I would recommend it for the atmosphere and great service

A fantastic place to have a hearty meal and a few drinks. The schnitzel is a must have and there was a special menu item with goose breast that was absolutely delicious! Would definitely go again when we're in Nürnberg

Great outdoors serving on the roof. Very friendly staff, I had the Schnitzel with fries which was good, and a few beers. Unfortunately, the pork shoulder is only served on saturdays. It’s a good idea to make a reservation.

Definitely worth a visit but book beforehand as it's always full. Food is delicious and service was fast and friendly 😄 lovely beer garden with umbrellas outside, however, everyone can smoke anywhere outside which we found very unpleasant as we are non smokers.

Loved the atmosphere and friendly service. The locals were friendly and approachable as well. English-friendly restaurant, gets busy in the evenings but the people are happy to share a table with you so you can sit for a meal. Beer is awesome and the food is DELICIOUS and you get a very decent serving of it! You have to try the schnitzel with mushroom sauce and the potato dumplings as a side.

Fantastic food, beer, service, and atmosphere. Would recommend reserving a table rather than walking in, however, they will more than likely try to accommodate you. Had a 1L beer and a life changing mushroom-smothered fried schnitzel, all for less than €20 to include a tip.

The franconian restaurant Wirtshaus Hütt'n is popular for its generous offerings of home-style food and its range of beers. The interior is rustic and informal, but the atmosphere is warm and family-friendly. Sausages are a specialty here, with roasted brats, fried pork neck in dark beer sauce, and sauerkraut on the menu.
Recommended by our hotel, we tried to reserve our lunch time but no spots were available until 2 days from now, so we decided to take our chances and show up. We waited 10-15 minutes to get anyone’s attention but they were able to seat us at the table with another couple. Wonderful place, great authentic food and service. English and Spanish speaking waiting staff helpful to tourists! Loved the food, the dessert and coffee as well. Highly recommend!

Good and authentic Franconian restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was great, the level of English of the staff was good enough. As most pubs in the area.theu offer their own brewery brand of beer on tap. Always coming in 3 types: red, light and dark beer. The red and the dark beer tasted great and I highly recommend those.
Nadelin G — Google review
Nice, traditional franconian tavern. The inside is made of wood, giving a medieval atmosphere. The food was tasty and the staff friendly. I recommend the nuremberg sausages over the franconian ones (even though smaller, they were tastier in my opinion)

Traditional cuisine can be found in this restaurant near the castle. The ambience is very cosy and it did not feel touristy. I ordered the pork shoulder, which was cooked perfectly, although in my opinion the meat below the crusty fat was a bit bland. The potato dumplings and the meat juice were very good. Friendly service.
Juan H — Google review
The pork shoulder was delicious — crispy skin, tender meat, and a very generous portion. The beer was also great, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

I ordered the fish dish and the portion was too large for me. The fish itself was delicious, very soft and fresh. The vegetables were drenched in oil and not pleasurable. The place is quite popular with the locals to try the typical Schäufele, would recommend to try.

It is Asparagus season now in Germany. We want to eat these fresh big and white ones we saw in the Markt. We asked around which restaurant serves them and we were recommended to this place. It was sooo good and I can have it everyday during our stay. I think this is only available in Germany. This restaurant have many other good authentic German food in their menu and will come back to them

No table reservation here. Come and find a member of staff and they will get you seated. We had such a good meal that we came back the next evening. Great Sauerbraten and Fränkisches Schäufle. A piece of roasted pork with crackling. Second night we had the sausages and the Schnitzel also delicious 😋. A good selection of local beer specialities and good wines. Definitely a must in the castle area of Nürnberg.

Albrecht-Dürer-Stube is a charming Franconian restaurant located near the castle in Nuremberg. Housed in a 450-year-old building, it exudes history and nostalgia. The restaurant, now run by the same family for three generations, offers a delectable menu of traditional Nuremberg dishes such as sausages, steaks, fish, and seasonal vegetables.
We came at 7pm without a reservation and they were kind enough to fit us in, asking us to come back at 8pm. It’s a small quaint local restaurant with traditional Franconian food. There are a lot of framed embroidery on all the walls that add to the charm of this local spot. The embroidery framed in front of our table said to eat and drink without worry (trink und iss sorgenvergiss) and we followed the instructions well. We ordered the special oven roast pork with dumplings and red cabbage and somehow had room for apple fritters and warm plums for dessert. The pork was AMAZING - tender, with crispy skin, and the potato dumpling was light and fluffy and the red cabbage was also the perfect complement to the meal. Apple fritters were crispy and chewy and the warm plum was also delish. Our server was very friendly and I would highly recommend this place. Make a reservation in advance if you want to eat immediately 😊

A cozy Franconian restaurant just steps from Dürer’s house, with wood-paneled walls, checkered tablecloths, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. The menu focuses on regional classics, crispy pork shoulder with dumpling and red cabbage, Nuremberg sausages with potato salad, rich goulash, and everything is cooked with care. Portions are hearty without being overwhelming, and desserts like the sampler plate or affogato with gingerbread ice cream are standouts. Add in warm service and fair prices, and you’ve got one of the best places in the old town to enjoy traditional Nuremberg flavors.

A truly authentic and charming place, incredibly cozy and full of character. The design is fascinating, with beautiful reproductions of engravings to admire everywhere you look. The service is impressively fast, and the meat is absolutely outstanding. Highly recommended!

Very good traditional Franconian food in a half-timbered house with several floors. Both the Nuremberg sausages and the cheese spaetzle were excellent. The beer served here is from the Augustiner brewery out of Munich.

We had a traditional Franconian lunch in this restaurant, where you can share a table with the other customers in a friendly environment. We suggest the grilled Turkey with mushrooms sauce and rosti, and the goose liver patè. The bill was super honest for what we have eaten.

It was a fine choice directly in the city center, near to the castle. The food was not so especial with limited options. I can recommend the Bärlauchsuppe and the mix starter plate. A huge minus point is Schäufele was not offered to us and other guests during our visit. Although they were still available, the next guests were coming 1 hour after us but could order it.

Offered a table for a beer, then refused service because I did not order food. I got up to leave, saying I would write a 1* review. The waiter then did offer me a beer on the house, which I accepted but paid for. I complained to the elderly owner and his wife. The outside seating area was only a 3rd full. The owner was exceptionally rude to me. Out of respect for his age I did not argue, but I was astounded at his extremely unfriendly and disrespectful attitude. AVOID!
James H — Google review
We sat down at a table that was clearly just vacated because it had dirty plates. Just wanted a cold beer. This old man moved in and told us we must move to a table in the Sun. It wasn't reserved but he was insistent. I think the man was the owner. Poor customer service. Do not go to this rude mans place. He is just a lousy example of customer service. He is just rude. Edited - I've read a few other reviews and it seems the old bloke really is a problem. Stay away.

This Restaurant has one of the worst service in Nuremberg, the waiter put his own service charge on the payment machine, the other thing, the picture on the menu is not what you get, Void this Restaurant like the plague.
Terry B — Google review
The location of this restaurant is good, in the Old Town close to the church. We sat outside as the weather was nice , sunny and warm but I saw on the way to the restroom that inside is nicely decorated. The waiter was nice but I think that the price for the Nürnberger Würstchen with just some slices of bread for 12.50 euros is really high. I did regret it to eat there because just on the other side of the church there’s another restaurant which seems also nice and not that expensive . The homemade lemonade was also much too sour.

Without question the very best service, food, and beer in Nuremberg. You’re essentially eating in a quaint 500 old restaurant that still serves quality food. Not to be missed if you are in town. Try the crispy pork, absolutely outstanding dish! Kaiserschmarrn dessert was really great as well.

We are part of a 40+ people tour and this was the restaurant selected for our dinner. I believe they opened for our group as they are not usually open on Sunday's, so thank you!! Dated back to the 1500's, this fine location, according to the owner, has always been a restaurant. Lots of fine detail in the metalworks, decor and more. The owner and family members served us all in 3 separate rooms, in order to accommodate us all, and did so with class, patience, speed and kindness. We started with a green salad with homemade dressing which was yummy, followed by a main of roast pork, potatoes and saurkraut, the portion sizes were large. Dessert was amazing! Warm apple strudel on top of a lovely cream colored sauce, adorned with fruit and whipped cream - it was the best dessert I've had on our tour so far!! I would highly recommend if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed. My only suggestion would have been to have some authentic music in the background, not loud, just background, other than that, I have no other suggestions.
Jackie W — Google review
Fried potatoes are one of my favorite foods in the world, and we chose this restaurant because they serve Nürnberger Rostbratwurst with fried potatoes and the rating was high enough to overlook the high prices. However, I was very disappointed with the taste of the potatoes - they tasted like they were fried in margarine. The sausages were not tasty either - they were quite average compared to the sausages at Bratwurstglöcklein and Burgwächter. The portions are generous, sauerkraut was tasty, as was the salad. I can't comment on the other dishes, but I definitely don't recommend the sausages with fried potatoes.

Very unique restaurant. More of a Gastropub than traditional German. Hostess and service staff was rather rude and near to impossible to get a seat. Absolutely fantastic experience. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for the name of the waitress, she was relaxed, attentive, patient and delightful. And spoke English. A wonderful lady. Me and my siblings came in by accident, and were immediately attracted by a very warm atmosphere. All the places were taken, however we were friendly informed that there will be a place in 45 minutes, so we booked. Once we're landed, we ate from the day menu and the regular menu. Mushrooms soup, delicious meat, vegetarian dishes and a fantastic desert. I must say, the place is a gem and again, the service was brilliant. Thank you so much!!!

Nestled within the historic walls of a castle, Restaurant Burgwächter offers an authentic dining experience that perfectly captures the essence of regional German cuisine. With its rustic charm and two inviting terraces shaded by trees, this tavern is an ideal spot to unwind while enjoying stunning views of Nuremberg. The menu features traditional dishes like Nürnberger bratwurst, schnitzel, Spätzle, and haxe—each dish reflecting the rich culinary heritage of the area.
My visit wasn't planned. I was at the castle and happened to come across this restaurant. Since I hadn’t had breakfast, I decided to have lunch here. The food was amazing – the crispy skin and tender meat were perfectly cooked, making it a truly satisfying meal. The portion was huge though, that I couldn't finish it.

A very good restaurant in the centre of Nuremberg. I liked that it was quiet but I think it can get very busy. I felt cosy there, a really good place to get your buddies out for a drink or for food. We got the Nuremberg sausages with potato salad, and also a portion of Cheese Spätzle. Very good. Just a bit salt for my buds, as I don't add it anymore to food, but I would say a well balanced value price. And the staff was very friendly. Thank you!

Traditional German Restaurant in Nuremberg This charming restaurant is perfectly located next to the famous Nuremberg Castle, adding to its enchanting atmosphere. I tried the local dish Schäufele, a special pork cut cooked for three hours, tender like butter, and paired it with a slightly smoky dark beer. It’s easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Germany. The service was outstanding—friendly and attentive from start to finish. They even offered a beer tasting to help me choose the right one. The architecture is also worth noting, reflecting the traditional Nuremberg style, and there’s a terrace with a view of the castle and city. Though it was too windy and cold to sit outside, the indoor setting was cozy and inviting. Prices are fair, and the location is ideal if you’re visiting the castle and surrounding area. I would return to Nuremberg just to dine here again. 5/5!

This is such a cozy place. The server was friendly and the food was excellent. Definitely get the pretzels and cheese. Enjoyed the whole meal. The potato salad is nothing like American (which I don't like) and was very good. The sauerkraut also tasted very different but was so wonderful.

We saw other people ordering the salads, which seem to be the specialty of this café, but they were considerably expensive so we opted for something else. The chicken with grilled cheese was really good, as was the side salad, which had a delightful dressing. The potato wedges were overdone, although I don’t care for potatoes so it was no matter to me. They were still edible and tasted alright with the curry dipping sauce. My husband enjoyed his schnitzel, which was a very large portion. Overall, a good meal and good service as well.

(Translated by Google) As a hotel guest, a visit to the attached inn was of course obvious and was also a reason for me to book the hotel. A reservation is definitely not a mistake. Food and service were great. The menu was varied but not overloaded and mainly had regional dishes, so everyone should find what they are looking for here. A tartare only works well if sensible ingredients are used: this one was fantastic. The onion roast was also very good and I particularly liked it because of the sauce. The local wine list looked very interesting, but unfortunately offered few wines by the glass. But the selection of local beers was more than sufficient. I will definitely like to come back when I'm in the area.

(Translated by Google) We ate out here and we all really enjoyed the food. I ordered the mountain cheese dumplings with mushroom cream sauce and it was very filling. I can only recommend this dish! What I didn't like was the price of the asparagus dishes. I think 21€ for about 5 pieces of asparagus and a few potatoes is a bit excessive... But the prices for the usual dishes were good. The staff was very friendly and personable. They also have good relationships with children. The ambience is wonderful. There are places for inside and outside. I would highly recommend making a reservation, especially for holidays like Mother's Day.

Located on the first floor overlooking the old market square in Nuremberg, Restaurant Oberkrainer am Hauptmarkt offers a nostalgic dining experience with a terrace. Despite its touristy appearance, it stands out for its excellent traditional meat dishes and Franconian fare. The generous servings of pork, sauerkraut, potato dumplings, and Nuremburger Bratwurst are highly recommended. Guests have praised the inviting ambiance and impeccable service provided by the charming staff.
We were here 2 years ago and made a point of coming back. The food , atmosphere and service are outstanding. If you want to feel at home in Nuremberg visit here!!!!

A traditional German restaurant with a view that overlooks the Hauptmarkt at a glance—its location alone already feels unbeatable. The dish I ordered turned out a little different from what I had imagined, but it still had its own charm. The staff were very friendly, and the interior was spacious and spotless, making it a place well worth visiting at least once if you’re in Nürnberg.
Hyein J — Google review
We had a wonderful dinner here. The pork shoulder was amazing, along with the lamb greens and cabbage salad as well. The atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming and the service was excellent. Love supporting family owned business of over 50 years
Taylor S — Google review
This was hands down amazing. Get the soup, order the stuffed potatoes and do not skip the bread dumplings, they are just like great grandmas. Snitzel is amazing. Great upstairs balcony with seating and people watching. It does not get more authenticly German than this restaurant

This restaurant was recommended for a one night stay in Nuremberg. Absolutely exceeded my expectations. The view is stunning and the meals are even better. The staff provided wonderful service. A must stop location.

What a great find! A lovely family run business and the food & service was fantastic. Would definitely come here again!
Cloud M — Google review
Great location, lovely Frankische interior & friendly service ( with a table reserved for us). Unfortunately, those very good aspects were undermined by the very average food aspects: overpriced, tiny portions with the quality of ingredients being 'basic'. the Schaufele had NO crunch on top & was rubbery, the Schweinebraten had 2 tiny, thin slices served with equally tiny & bland kartofellklösse (possibly packet type). AND then.... Salads would be an extra €5-6 euros. There are much better Franconian Restaurants in Nuremberg...& more reasonably priced. Sorry, but we won't be back.
Peter B — Google review
Really good location overlooking the platz, you access via some uninspiring stairs to the restaurant. We got here early for dinner, it was full when we left...Food was great, view was perfect.

Nestled along the picturesque Brückkanal, Waldschänke Brückkanal is a charming half-timbered tavern that offers a delightful escape for both hikers and cyclists. With its expansive terrace overlooking the canal, it's an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the beautiful surrounding forest and river trails. The menu features hearty Franconian specialties like pork roulade and peppered knuckle, alongside a selection of cold dishes perfect for a light snack.
Worth visiting and very well maintained. The food and service is top notch. The sitting area is well maintained and visiting this place is a picnic in itself

Great place to go for a wilderness walk, trails are well marked. We had lunch afterwards, we were a group of 18 and the food was served amazingly fast. The food was also excellent.

If you ever in this region you should stay for two hours to enjoy franconian way of living. Tasty food and great variaty of beer

A nice restaurant very close to the river. Guests can park their cars in a nearby parking space, start the hike by the river and have a good dine in to this place. They serve good Franconian food and the service is really fast. The price is also very reasonable.

Overall totally alright but nothing outstanding. Was happy to see more vegetarian dishes than the online menu told us about.

Good everything. Returned a couple of times. Great Beer Garden but the builders put the highways (yes two major highways) right next to this great, historic spot. What were they thinking? Too much building.

Very beautiful forest, stones and river with outstanding restaurants! One of the greatest food in the country! It's a romantic place and the staff is very sweet! We were in 6 people (better make a reservation ror more than 2 people) and we have eaten 4 different dishes (pork and cow meat) with potatoes. Everything was great and delicious! The desserts are wonderful and the beer one of the best!

Nestled in the heart of Nuremberg on Leipziger Strasse, Landbierparadies is a delightful haven for beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike. Opened in March 2016, this charming gastropub boasts a spacious beer garden that can accommodate up to 300 guests, making it an ideal spot for gatherings. The establishment prides itself on offering a rotating selection of regional beers straight from wooden casks, showcasing the rich brewing heritage of the area.
Nice place to have a good beer and a good meal for decent prices.

Food was okay, not really good compared to other places nearby, i ordered schnitzel, they didn’t have any ketchup not did they serve mayonnaise. The portion was quite small so i left hungry. They have a big variety of beers for a competitive price which was fair. The service although was terrible. Very rude staff, sometimes they left without response, we waited for 20 minutes till the server took our order. Atmosphere was nice, outside sitting was pleasant.
Leon P — Google review
Quick meal here in the evening, a spot inside on a Sunday. Just nice and to the point. There is gluten free beer on the menu but they didn’t have it at that moment. I ordered sausages and sauerkraut, which was tasty. I asked if it was gluten free before ordering and the waiter proposed to replace the supplied bread with kartoffelsalat. Which sounded good. Unfortunately it was served with a slice of bread on top… no kartoffelsalat. So be careful if you want to eat here and are celiac. Other than that a great local spot.

classic biergarten. good Franconian cuisine with farm produce. good selection of beer. There are certain types of beer for which it is worth coming here. Very busy in the evening.
Vyacheslav S — Google review
The food was good, but the manager had a major issue with us not being fluent in German. Rude and obnoxious are words that come to mind. Threw the English menus on the table. Then had the cheek to hint at a tip when I went to pay
James B — Google review
Like all German pubs: cozy, warm, great food and even better beer. The hostess was awesome and very nice. And the Schäuferle.... picture says it all.

It’s not called “The Land Bier Paradise” without reason and to describe it as “typical” is unfair, it’s unique! The range of regional biers is unrivaled. This is a must visit, oasis of, food, bier and local atmosphere. Another fantastic evening with five star treatment.

Nestled in the charming town of Schwabach, Gaststätte Wilhelm Tell is a delightful spot that captures the essence of Frankonian cuisine. With its inviting Biergarten, guests can savor an array of traditional dishes, including unique offerings like schnitzel rolls filled with Obatzda. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a favorite among locals who appreciate hearty meals and a diverse crowd. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, this cozy establishment boasts fresh and flavorful food prepared with care.
A very cozy place with a wonderful atmosphere. The food is delicious — everything is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with love. The staff is attentive and friendly. It was a lovely experience, and I’ll definitely come back!

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was very disappointing. Right from the start, we were served flat Coke. At the bar, the waitresses were smoking cigarettes, which is not only unhygienic but also unpleasant for guests. The kitchen staff were also smoking, which raises serious concerns about sanitary standards. The food turned out to be of poor quality and far too expensive for what we received. The place seems focused on making quick money from tourists rather than providing good service or tasty meals. Definitely not recommended.
Karolina B — Google review
Unfortunately, this place is very disappointing. Prices are heavily inflated – a typical tourist trap. The food is tasteless, everything looks and tastes like it has been reheated in old, stale oil. No freshness, no quality. A waste of time and money – I strongly recommend avoiding it and finding somewhere else in the area.
Filip K — Google review
Very nice, local place. Great food, very friendly staff, extremely good prices! English menu available. Their potato salad is a MUST! Absolutely recommend this place if you are in Schwabach.

Lilya — Google review
The BEST Schnitzel of this trip to Bavaria...thin cuts, pounded down to 3/16" of an inch so that the breadcrumb coating will be crispy. Staff is anxious to help, and beer flights available for those who'd like to try an assortment of beers. Waitress even opened 2 bottles so I could sample 2 different dark beers. Reasonable prices, and centrally located. A 'Must Return To' establishment.
Steve H — Google review
Very delicious food and nice beer! The staff was really kind and friendly. Would visit again. Thank you 😊
Nadezhda S — Google review
I have mixed feelings about this place. The food was tasty and the staff friendly, but the atmosphere was more like a lively eatery than a cosy restaurant. The loud 90’s disco music made it hard to follow conversations in our group, which took away from the experience. After asking, the staff kindly lowered the volume, which actually made the whole room feel calmer. I understand the team might enjoy upbeat music while working, but for guests, a quieter background would let the great food and atmosphere shine. Of course, that’s just my personal preference.
