Had a couple of pints each here and shared ganja fries with my husband. Service friendly, food spicy 😋, atmosphere great. Only gave 4 stars as toilets could do with improving. Would not hesitate to recommend however ❤️

Been years since i visited here, luvly friendly welcoming staff. Place hasn't changed since the last time I was there. But sadly now needing a bit of TLC, decor, furnishings, seating ladies. etc. Owner has now seemingly sold the pub so perhaps not willing to update before selling. Still a great pub tho, great atmosphere and tasty food, we njoyed scampi and chips, garlic mushrooms and a pudding, food was delicious and plenty of it. Hopefully the new owners will manage to retain the atmosphere and still have it as a great warm friendly Dundee bar. :)

Well where do I start, met up with ex work mates for a drink and meal. I booked for us and 10 out of 10 for the staff having our table set up. It was so dark in the place we couldn't read the menu, my mates were using the light on their phones to read it. And it went downhill after that, service was good but I got fish and chip things. They must have fried the fish in batter which had been used to fry garlic food. It gave me gut rot later in the night I was sick twice when I got home. I was first to go to the men's toilet and it was out of order due to refurbishment. Got told to go to thenext place up the road. Which was the Paddock about a 30 yard walk. It put me mate right off when they had to use the toilet as well. We were right out there and we were not a happy bunch.

Drinks are full and food makes my belly full. Had the fish and chips and it was sooooo good 👍 recommend

Best pub in town. Service is amazing , had fish cakes from Arbroath and I was stuffed . Really good quality food and Andy made me a well needed digestive after . Definitely worth a visit . I’d live there if I could. If you visit Dundee it’s a bee line for food and drink

Had the best time meeting up with family here recently! As much as we may have all aged, The Phoenix has managed to regain its original character , the service is fantastic the ambience is the best and the array of drinks top notch 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Greeted by a friendly chap called Thomas as soon as I entered, table no problem. Gave great advice on the range of beers and food choices. Had the OG burger that tasted great, very flavourful and explored the brewery's range of beers. Really great experience and cool setting. Need to revisit and play shuffleboard! The music choice is also exceptional with hits across the years

Pretty much the only place that I felt very chill and safe in during the pandemic. The service from our waitress was amazing as she was very kind, understanding and was willing to explain how thing where getting on. The COVID-19 safety measures that we had in place (glass between the table & toiletries) served a great purpose for keeping groups in their own private space and for the upkeep of hygiene. Looking forward to coming back.

The food was good, three of us ate, one a teetotal vegetarian and two not. The beer choice was excellent and extremely varied. I dare you to not like the beer 🙂🙂

Arrived for a pre booked beer tasting experience for two, which was a gift from my son. Great welcome from the two barmen as we entered, Adam was to be our beer guide, and he was brilliant!!! Six different beers, all explained in great detail by Adam. We had the easy job of drinking them😁. Fantastic 90 minutes spent drinking good beer. Highly recommend it.

Excellent food and a lovely beer. Thomas who welcomed us was very very helpful and went out of his way to make us comfortable. Food was piping hot and a hearty serving too. 1st time here and would definitely recommend and come back again.

Love this place! Really chilled place to hang out with mates. They have a really good selection of beers and the food is top notch pub grub. However, I was their with a big group last time and those that had the veggie burgers weren't overly impressed. I had the chicken burger though and thought it was very tasty. The staff have always been super friendly when I've been and I'd never hesitate to return

First time at an Innes & Gunn and just loved the place. The atmosphere, food and of course beer was a superb mix. The setting, decor, shuffl board and staff (Thomas who knew lots on the various beers and the background) simply nailed it as being my favourite “non local” pub. Get on it! Even took a wee carry out of Caribbean Rum Cask home to enjoy.

The food is good I have to say first. But this is not ok or so bad as a sport bar! Every table around is the same going to see a football match and the staff refuse to open the sound of TV! Therefore our football watching become a silent game + noisy club music😵‍💫😵😤😡, such a bad place for watching games but good if you only need some food. Have to say again food is good 👍

Always a good visit to Braes for sports matches. Lots of TVs/screens, and ample seating. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food portions could perhaps be a bit more generous and flavourful. We got the social sharer which has a good variety of chicken wings, chicken bites, grilled halloumi, garlic bread and onion rings, but could be improved in quantity for the price of £21.

Ben, Bing, and bossman served us well this afternoon. They were so nice about us staying way too long after our boozy brunch 😊 lovely staff great food and drinks. Thanks again!

Booked student boozy brunch for myself and a couple friends, it was an absolute steal. We ended up paying £30pp for 6 cocktails and a main meal each which is an insane deal. The service was fantastic, every member of staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We will absolutely be coming back again and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great boozy brunch!!

This was the first time,but definitely not the last time I will be in this incredibly dicevingly bigger than it looks on the outside place.I walked in to a very friendly and cheery barmaid,who instantly made me feel welcome.It has a good range on offer,nice comfy seats,although some upholstery is needed on some of the booths.It even had an upstairs.Great vibes,give it a visit

Great pub in the centre of Dundee , We popped in on a Sunday afternoon atmosphere was relaxed and sociable. The staff are really freindy, live sport on show and , through the week, have excellent food on offer. Its a 5 min walk from the bus station and close to all the main shops . Well worth a visit if you are in Dundee

Another fantastic meal, arbroath haddock and chip with balsamic dressed salad and coleslaw included in price, wife had baked potato with chilli and cheese, could have done with a little more chilli,pub was a bit cold unfortunately but didn't affect meal everything cooked really well and staff very attentive to us, definitely be back

Amazing traditional pub to watch sports and some eat only sections with tables to eat top class pub grub. 👏🏻 We booked a table for the England Vs Scotland 6N match. We ate starters of nachos then mains of 6 small portion dishes (see pics 😋). We had two rounds of drinks, all for under £60. The food was great and the staff were very attentive. Unfortunately Scotland lost by a point. ☹️ Highly recommended 😎

Had fish and chips here for dinner and they were pretty good. Not the best I've had, but good. Came on the first night of NFL football and it was nice to find a bar with games on, although most TVs were set to the same game. Service was ok. Has a pretty good pub atmosphere.

1st time in here. Busy, but pleasant atmosphere. Ordered a fish and chips. Was delicious. Also ordered fish goujon, Korean chicken. Very tasty. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Great customer service. Credit to them. Would recommend coming here

Very nice traditional bar with good food. Ambience very good. Decoration very authentic. Ordered the 5 small plates to share and a soup of the day. More than enough food for 2 adults. Haggis was hot and crispy - tasty. Chicken soup too salty. Kung Po chicken bun can give it a miss. Chicken karrage was crispy and tasty. Fish and chips and onion rings very good as well. It’s a must try if in Dundee - for the food and authentic bar feel. Was full house.

Ewan from the bar served us lunch, and it was absolutely delicious! His customer service was the best I’ve ever had. He was so friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. He truly went above and beyond to make our experience perfect. Did’t order food but it looked good from other tables! I got a cocktail and a really nice bartender who made great drinks and even though it was really busy, was very good under pressure. She had red hair and was easy to understand over all the noise! The place had great vibes and good prices. I’d recommend it ❤️

Starting with the good: The service is great and everyone is very friendly. We ordered fish and chips, and steak pie. The fish was great, nice and flaky with crispy batter. The tartar sauce is tasty, too. The chips were excellent! Now, on to the not so great. The steak pie was unfortunately quite bad (and quite small). The steak was way overdone and mushy. The puff pastry was hard and just not edible. Both of us had garden peas with our meal and they were cold. This was probably connected to the cold plates/service dishes. We did let staff know and they very kindly replaced the steak pie with fish and it was much appreciated. Overall, we’d be back for beers, but probably not for food.

Great pub and also has very nice food if you’re hungry. I got the steak pie today half expecting it to be one of the shortcrust pastry ones (that’s what Greene King places have given me in the past). Was pleasantly surprised when a lovely big puff pastry pie came out. Despite having loads of gravy already, it also came with an extra dipping pot of gravy. The food was absolutely fantastic and very filling.

Visited for the first time a few weeks ago, and I’ll definitely be back! Staff were awesome and the service was great behind the bar.

Friendly enough but there weren't any labels on the pumps meaning you have to ask the bar staff what's on. No problem when it's not busy like when I popped in one Thursday after lunch...

Great pub and our brunch was fantastic. Service was a little slow but the staff were very friendly and I suspect it was just a bit short staffed and perhaps they didn’t expect quite so many people that day as Dundee was very quiet, even for half term. That might just be normal as I am from Surrey everywhere is packed over half term. Anyway well worth eating here and dog friendly too so 5* from us!

Best cocktails, so fun and creative! The hanging birdcages, tropical vibe, and fun atmosphere makes a great stop to have a bite to eat and a drink close to the water!

Lovely bar and great to have some background music. Would have loved to have given 5 stars but the service let us down. First waitress and manager were really helpful, however, the chilli dishes came out lukewarm and then was covered in cream. Nice that they cooked from scratch again but a quick blast in the micro would have sufficed. Third time lucky and the food was lovely. Shame it came out when everyone else had finished their food. Mix up about bill and rushed to finish up when I was still eating. Offered more drinks but was advised wed have to drink them quickly and leave. Complained to manager who was apologetic and embarrassed and assured is that it wasn't normal. Deducted my food from bill and offered us a free round of drinks if we return.

My pals and I always get great service when we visit for a night out or head in for a Monday night quiz, Emma and Elle were great for taking our orders and checking in on us and having good banter too, Honestly quality staff all round.

Food was bland. Got order wrong twice. Don't reccomend, far better places within walking distance for similar prices.

Nice pub with extensive menu in the student area of Dundee. Visited on a sunny day and the beer garden was nice to sit out in. Food and drinks orders were taken quickly and the food came out fairly quickly after that. Very affordable too.

Friendly service, good beer garden, could do with more "other" brewery beers.

The froth was of a respectable quality, feeling exactly as froth should be - not too airy, not too thick. While the temperature certainly could have been improved, being a little on the cool side, the chocolatiness was excellent, and the consistency quite respectable, save for the bottom - a common side effect of mediocre temperature. Adding in sugar is recommended, making the drink quite sweet and delicious. Overall, a very good hot chocolate - 7/10

Visited on Saturday for a drink and some food. Friendly staff, nice relaxed vibe to it as we were sat on sofas. Outside sitting/smoking area was pleasant. We had the fajitas and they were delicious.

The place is worth visiting, especially if you are looking for a place to drink some beer or eat deep fried mars bar. During weekends the pub is quite crowded. Anyway, they have good beer, cider and food.

Cozy place with extremely nice and caring staff. Went there for a pint or two with colleagues and decided to grab a bite (being vegan with strong IBS) here as the menu seemed good and the staff nice. IBS, milk allergy and being vegan was handled with excellence and knowledge which is rare so kudos to the team (also the kitchen!) and thanks for the lovely night ❤️

The atmosphere was a wee bit dull, but it was a Tuesday evening so I can't really place blame on the bar for that. Had a cheeseburger and it was pretty good, better than a lot of pub food burgers for sure. The guy working the bar was really polite and helpful too.

Visiting Dundee, enjoyed lunch here today & manager mentioned music 🎶 tonight. Very relaxed happy groups meeting friends , excellent regular musician sharing songs they loved with room to sing along to & move in - or just chat. My glass of Glenkinchie another happy memory of a good time. Thanks 🎶

We stopped by for lunch on Friday. I'm coeliac and was delighted to see a gf menu! Plenty of choices for me ,and my burger was delicious. The pub is spotless and feels very welcoming. Bar staff very friendly. We will definitely be back 🙂

Had an awesome time with an incredibly cool bartender! He treated us to some mixologist tricks, turning regular drinks into personalized cocktails named after each person. Being all about aesthetics, I went all out and asked for a zombie-like drink with fire – and he delivered! The flaming drink was absolutely beautiful. 🔥🍹 While the bartender was fantastic with mixology tricks and personalized drinks, there was one downside. He got too comfortable and shared unprofessional stories about a client who criticized his drink. It was a bit off-putting despite the overall enjoyable experience. 🤔

This place is so neat. I mean, it is just so unique. Went here and sat outside, ordering a pint of the Shipfaced Lager, and it was so good. Fresh, smooth, and just right. The staff were friendly and flexible, as we arrived early (before) our reservation time, and were still able to be seated. Service was quick, and the food that they were putting out (we just drank) looked incredible. When we went to pay, we went into the restaurant, which had black walls and designs all over the walls, including a lot of crude, vulgar humor (very good). There was also a small arcade at the front, with plenty of flashing lights, and the restrooms had plenty of jokes on the walls, too, in white text. Just looking at the walls and using the restroom was a blast. When we finally did pay, the bar looked spectacular, with a wide assortment of alcohol, and the pub had a second level as well with plenty of padded seats (all of which looked very comfortable). Additionally, the music that was playing was great. You better be here when this place opens up completely to indoor seating. You'll have an awesome night

What a place, popped in hear on the off chance. The place is right up my street. Looks fantastic and has a great vibe. Only had a few pints in here but the pictures says it all. Well worth a visit!

Fantastic barstaff, good couple of arcade games, brilliant photo booth, would recommend to anyone. Definitely do the pickle back, it's red cabbage so it's much more peppery than you'd expect

We came on Friday for drinks and just to check out the place, we stayed for a good few hours just enjoying the atmosphere, theres a massive range of drinks on hand and a collection of cocktails with interesting names..came back on Saturday for food and we weren't let down, apart from my girlfriend's burger, which was a way too pink for her but the staff were more than happy to try redo it, which we cant thank them enough for. It's worth coming to Dundee just to check out this mad mad place and the drawings on the walls, the music and in general the atmosphere and the bar staff that are worth watching while they're slinging a cocktail through the air.

WOW We visited today for my birthday and had the set menu which is a case of tell us anything you dislike and we will feed you. A very clever concept of eating a blind menu and what a treat. Every dish packed full of flavour with fresh ingredients presented beautifully. The setting is stunning the service is stunning the food is stunning and for 10 courses each including 4 drinks was a stunning price of £51. This is a hidden gem in a lovely part of the world and blew me away on every level. This is Spanish Tapas at a different level. Thanks to all the staff.

Great tasting food. The chicken salad, honey and cheese were heavenly. Good ambiance and friendly staff. We had a delay with the service due to some system issues, however the staff handled it really well. Would highly recommend.

- Bowls with large chips on the rim used for serving dishes - Bread inedible due to being burnt - also didn’t seem to be freshly made - feels like a supermarket par-baked thing. - I’d put a note on the booking that it was for my mums birthday and how hard she works , they didn’t acknowledge this in any way by saying happy birthday etc. overall the hospitality just wasn’t great , an upbeat and energetic server who also ensures they are presentable makes a big difference to peoples experience. We were also ignored as we left saying goodbye and thank you, even though we tipped - all the tables are different which feels a bit odd , one of which has high backed armchairs at it and personally I’d ask to move if seated there as it’s not appropriate for eating a sit down meal at, you’d have to perch forward the entire time. - There’s bits of plaster about to fall off of the ceiling near the bathrooms - Drinks menus were very sticky 

- Clipboard menus were clunky to use and felt unprofessional
 , the set menu isn't on the menu, we had to ask about it. - Plates weren’t refreshed between courses so you had to scrape sauce from the last dishes over to the side - A few of the dishes were very salty - I think if you are serving a full table with a set menu then the dishes really need to be spot on and delicious. I came here a few years ago and it was incredible food , but I’d honestly give it a 4 out of 10. It was…. Fine? just about fine. - the cold tapas was very underwhelming and not a lot of it for 4 people. The hot tapas was marginally better but salty , the chicken wings overcooked so hard to eat and overall an odd selection. - The music also kept cutting out and it made for a very awkward atmosphere, I’m also not sure why you would play Taylor swift songs in a tapas restaurant. Wouldn’t visit again unfortunately , this was one of my favourite restaurants.

Nice authentic style tapas restaurant. No food menus were given, instead only asked if we have any dietary requirements. We were served 6 cold starters and 6 hot main dishes all of which were amazing. We shared some sangria which was amazing and got a dessert each. We will definitely come back here !

*ALLERGEN WARNING* To preface, I have been here a few times before, and have previously recommended it to all my friends, and would have given it 5 stars then. My recent experience at Sol y Sombra left a lot to be desired. Both on my reservation, and when ordering I told them about my allergies, however they still brought me dishes with those allergens visibly present. When I pointed this out, I was questioned if I have even told the wait staff about this allergy. My bill and the reservation show I did. The dish was then taken away, and when I asked if the other dishes were safe since they were served, and potentially cooked, right next to the allergen containing dish, I was told they 'should be fine'. Other issues: I ordered the same wine twice, and the second time I ordered it the white wine came out red. After the second course, all of our plates were taken and put table was cleared, which we thought meant our service was over, at which point we asked for the bill, got asked to leave a tip, and got ready to leave. Then more food was brought out to us? With no plates or cutlery to eat it with. Later, we then asked for a box to take the food away with, and had all our cutlery taken and plates taken again, so we just had to slide our food off the serving plates into the box. Also, the men's bathroom has no toilet roll holder and instead the toilet paper is kept of a shelf that is sloped, about to fall off the wall, straight towards the toilet. Food has reduced in quality since I first went, really disappointing meal and service with a previous local favourite.

Food was cooked well and the service was first class. Decor, music and seating arrangement created a nice relaxed atmosphere for a night out. Other two members of our party loved their evening, I did feel that the set menu only format took something away from the tapas experience. For me tapas is all about picking several small dishes of food from the menu and mixing and matching your favourites, enjoying a drink and then ordering some more if you still have room! The set menu format was almost like a tasting menu where you have little control over what food will be served that evening. Cant fault anything, service and food/drink was great and evening was thoroughly enjoyed. Just not convinced by set menu.

First time back since the restaurant has changed hands. We booked for a Tuesday and it was half price Tuesday. Yeehaa. The food was great, especially the meat skewers. Around 10 different dishes were served to us. We would recommend especially the Tuesday sitting as it was great value. A few beers and sangria and food all for £48 No photos this visit as we were too busy chatting.

Reasonable place to stop for a meal. Just off the A90 next to Premier Inn. Will seat you in the bar if it’s very busy. Food is standard fare but quite acceptable. Enjoyed the steak.

Tasty food with a new menu. Great service and excellent with people who have a food intolerance. We always stop here for food when we are heading North.

Great food, steak ,mushroom, corn on the cob and onion rings, followed by black forest gateau. Magic.

Had dinner and breakfast with my wife. We both enjoyed the food immensely and the staff were super nice, polite, efficient and friendly. They could go with a bit more help as they were run off their feet. They coped really well with the volume of customers.

Our third Premier Inn overnight stay in two weeks. We had a Premier+ room. Comfortable, quiet, great facilities even a heated mirror in the bathroom. Room was spacious with a table and two armchairs. Staff were exceptionally friendly. My only complaint is the food quality and choice. Healthy eaters would not like the choices . We had burgers for our evening meal, very greasy, didn’t enjoy. Breakfast has a good choice of cereal, continental and full breakfast. Again, everything greasy, left most of mine. So, location and accommodation 10/10 Food 5/10.

I had the continental breakfast, croissants tasted like they were half cooked, pancakes tasted like they've been left out, fruit was nice. My partner had the cooked breakfast, said it was ok but the black pudding was deep fried and soaking in grease. Staff were pleasant enough

Came in as we had a voucher, staff member who greeted us was cheery which set a good mood. Seating could’ve been nicer as most the chairs were ripped/pealing. The server on bar at the time had to use phone calculator to charge us for the meal (This was not the clearly new bartender). We weren’t initially given a bill so was confused by the price on card machine but partner paid it. The receipt given did not have a price breakdown but when asked for it we found that we had been given a starter rather than a side which was more expensive. Wasn’t a real issue as we went back up to the bar to order a desert and to raise the mistake. We were kindly accommodated by Daniel who listened and fixed the issue efficiently and with a smile. The Bach is located in the city centre, but parking is a bit far—so be ready for a short walk. The interior is well-designed and inviting, with a dog-friendly setup and seating options that work for everyone. I tried one of their smoothies, which was really good. However, for an Indian palate, I found the food a bit bland. Also, if you ask for a dip or sauce, they charge an extra pound, which felt a bit much. That said, the overall experience was positive—especially for first-timers who enjoy exploring new cuisines. Portion sizes were decent too

I visited this spot on 3rd September and I have to say, I was really impressed. The vibe of the place is so chill and cozy. It’s the kind of atmosphere where you can just relax and enjoy your meal. The interior is also really well done, giving it an inviting feel. If you're ever looking for a place to unwind, this is definitely one to check out. I decided to try their Fried Vegan Breakfast and wow, the spread was amazing. Every element was fresh, flavorful, and really hit the spot. Just a heads-up, though, they do charge a little extra if you want bread with your breakfast, which was a bit of a surprise, but still worth it for the quality. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering something for everyone, but keep in mind the prices are a bit on the steeper side. Still, if you’re into exploring different cuisines and appreciate a cozy dining experience, it’s totally worth it. Overall, it was a really good experience and I will definitely be back to try more of their offerings. If you love discovering new places and enjoy tasty, well-prepared meals, this one’s a gem!

Came here for lunch, we were advised it would take about 30 minutes to get our food as it was pretty much full. We ordered the Cabbie burger and the French Toast, we also recieved a complimentary taster from the dinner menu that was pork (forgot the actual name but the man who served us it was very lovely and did fully explain the dish). All the food was delicious, no notes. We also had an iced chai latte and an iced mocha, also delicious and also no notes. The Bach is the best place in town in regards to having a variety of food for brunch, it is incredibly busy often for a reason!

Full disclosure before I start - I'm a Kiwi, so I'm a little biased about this wonderful gem. Dundee, you are so lucky to have this cafe. The menu was so varied that it was hard to decide. They take brunch seriously here, and that's reflected in their offerings. My korean fried chicken was delicious and served on a light cornmeal waffle. I loved the touch of pickled veges. Coffee's were great. On top of that, they've got a range of Kiwi treats on offer as well. The Bach ppl - if you're reading this, please know you're awesome. If there was one thing that jarred, it was the music choice. Nirvana at 10am on a Thursday wasn't quite the vibe we were expecting. Bring on Fat Freddys and crowded house (or, you know, a little more chill). ❤️

Beware, the menu changes late afternoon. I came with a menu item in mind only to have missed the option by 20 minutes! The evening menu provides a good range of choices. So my Morrocan Carrots and Sweet Potato Fries substituted to provide an interesting range of tastes. The Spirulina cold drink went well with the food. The capuccino is the best I've tried in Dundee... so far!

Giggling because google didn’t suggest this place. Now seeing the reviews, we are the ignorant and can confirm well worth a visit. We stumbled in tonight (Friday) and were so pleasantly surprised with the quality across the board. Kiwis did it right. Tomahawk was the star, everything else also delish. Atmosphere is a bit odd but you can actually hear each other and it all works. Very much enjoyed!!!

Good meal at Duke's, with succulent, juicy burgers and an excellent side of loaded fries. Good service, decent atmosphere (albeit a bit dim), good music! Bathrooms are upstairs - clean and well-maintained. There is also an accessible bathroom on the same level as the pub.

A good bar for big groups, with lots of space and big tables, and a selection of decent burgers, pizzas and chunky chips. Very loud music, but you can talk. The food is a bit pricey, but you can order from a QR code on the table and it comes quick.

Just conveniently round the corner from the Hilton Hotel. Smart redti-bar with superb selection of craft ales and nice burger / hotdog menu - especially enjoyed the IPA and jalapeño burger. Prices good and the service was particularly attentive and friendly. Excellent place, highly recommended

Really disappointed with the changes made for Saturday nights. Used to be such a great place to go for a dance and listen to the DJ, but there’s no longer space to dance and can barely hear the music. Still have to pay an entry fee though even though it’s no different to any other bar… a big shame that they’ve made these changes

We came and watched the six nations, Sexton's final match for Ireland! 🇮🇪 It was a really nice atmosphere and the staff were fun and friendly. We were led to believe by the dundee market manny that they had Cairn o' Mohr cider on tap..sadly they only have bottles. It's still good, though. The food menu is a bit 'meh'. Despite hungry tums, we were not persuaded by the usual fried food fare. 😑 It's costly and would no doubt leave us feeling uncomfortably dissatisfied.

Very expensive for what you get. Stopped with my mother for food, both of us are gluten free and I have an egg allergy. There are plenty of clearly labelled gf and vegan options and accommodations can be made for allergies. Staff were so helpful and friendly! I ordered a cauliflower steak and unfortunately found it to be bland and tasteless, it was also room temperature/lukewarm. My mother ordered the bean chilli loaded fries and said they were okay. The staff were kind enough to offer to remove the cauliflower steak from our bill and swap it with another dish. I opted for the corn ribs, which I found to be decently enjoyable, though I wasn't keen on the vegan mayo or the salad dressing. For what you get, the price is pretty steep. The atmosphere of the building is lovely though and there's some very cool decor. The employees were all fantastic. I do wish I had enjoyed the food more as it is a very nice building and very comfortable to sit in but I found I left unsatisfied and still hungry, I would possibly come back for a more drinking centered night but not for food.

The staff at the front of house and in the dining area were friendly, attentive and had a great attitude, though my initial drink order that I received was incorrect, this was quickly rectified with no fuss whatsoever. However the draft lemonade I got tasted like the syrup needed replacing as it was basically just the taste of soda water. I will admit I didn't say anything to the wait staff this time as I'd already had one drink replaced. The décor is nice and the atmosphere was good too. Plenty of different age groups and party sizes all felt welcomed. However I was not impressed by the food. The burger I had was okay, and the same goes for the fries, so that was fine. But the doughballs were a total let down. The menu said they were tossed in garlic and olive oil, which cannot be correct as they had no flavour to them and were extremely dry and hard. The menu also stated there was garlic butter but it was more of a garlic oil. This could be a garlic butter that was melted down, but personally if I read butter on a menu, I expect a butter that I can spread.

I had a fantastic time at this bar! The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed night out or a catch-up with friends. The lighting and music strike just the right balance—not too loud, but still lively. What really stood out to me was the staff. Every single person I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy their job. It made the whole experience feel personal and comfortable. Great drinks, good vibes, and lovely people—what more can you ask for? I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others.

The ambience of the restaurant is appealing, and accordingly, we had certain expectations regarding the quality of the food. The prices are positioned in the upper range for the area, which would not have been an issue had the culinary experience been on par. I ordered the house recommendation, the short rib. What I received, however, was approximately 50 grams of meat on the bone — entirely dry and tough. I brought this to the staff’s attention, but only received a brief apology. In the end, the full price was still charged, and we were left waiting for around 15 minutes with the bill on our table before payment was taken. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing — something we did not encounter anywhere else during our seven days in Scotland. Regrettably, we cannot recommend this establishment.

The service was friendly, but they never checked on us once we had our food so we could not order more drinks. Food was very good, but the portions were very small (steak pie and short rib of beef) and I would expect a bit more for the price. I would come back for drinks as the atmosphere is great. And maybe try a burger to compare.

We had a steak and ale pie and a steak and they were both really good. We also had two cocktails and dessert. Staff was nice and professional. If you are in Dundee and are looking for a nice place to eat, book The Barrelman!

Nice place, the interior is quite nice. We just had some lunch here after driving up from Glasgow. We shared the chimichurri chicken tacos, they were okay, but the chicken was a bit dry and underseasoned. We also shared the honey chicken wings and the black pudding and haggis fritters. Again, both were okay but quite basic, and I don't really feel any of it was worth the money. I had a pint of the tiny rebel beer, which was £6.80!! Overall, I would say it is a nice place to sit but way too expensive for what it is.

Went here on a deal with Itison so had a look at the reviews beforehand. Externally it doesn't look great and under normal circumstances would pass it by however we were surprised. Food was freshly prepared and tasty. Service was excellent and the young man and woman organising our food couldn't have been more helpful. Toilets were nice and clean. An enjoyable experience

Friendly service, it was really busy so that's always a good sign. Plenty of GF options. Really good pizza. 😋. I had goats cheese which was delicious. I would recommend this place for lunch or brunch.

I’ve visited West House a couple of times recently and it’s quickly becoming a favourite spot. The Ragu pasta was absolutely delicious, rich, hearty and full of flavour. I also came by for brunch with my dance society and had the chicken and bacon sandwich, which was really tasty and felt great value for money. The place itself has such a lovely, chilled vibe. The interior is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax with friends. On top of that, they have a really good selection of drinks at the bar. Overall, West House is a gem in Dundee with great food, great atmosphere and definitely worth a visit.

Stumbled across this wonderful cafe serving gf pizza and pasta using the find me gluten free app. It was very busy so we had a wee wait but it was well worth it for the absolutely delicious gluten free and dairy free half pizza I enjoyed with a small bowl of sweet potato, carrot and butternut squash soup. Only £10.75. It's the best gluten free pizza I've had in the ten years I've not been able to eat gluten. Staff are very friendly. Music was very loud and difficult to have a conversation when we first arrived as people were speaking loudly to be heard but by the end of the meal some people had left and the music was quieter so it was a lovely relaxing ambience and able to have a conversation.

Pizzas fuel photoshoots! Our team met for lunch ahead of a project in Dundee, sharing some very tasty pizzas and potato wedges. The ‘little hottie’ is a favourite! The staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere relaxing and easy to chat. Highly recommend a visit, whether you’re on a photoshoot or not!

Not much is open at 8am which posed a challenge as we were due to an event at 9am at the University. After our first option fizzled out, we happened across The West House. I had a great coffee and we really enjoyed the meal. The atmostphere was great and we really enjoyed the music (despite not knowing most of it). The staff were very pleasant and aware of why we were visiting so thoughtful in how they engaged us. We were able to eat quickly and make it out on schedule. Overall this was a great start to the day and I'll return again.

Had a fantastic meal for my daughter's 21st. Clean, smart modern surroundings, the food was fabulous. Service wasn't the fastest, but that made for a relaxing meal. It's a wine bar later in the evening so i recommend eating early as it livens up after 9pm.

Old fashioned bar with good selection of beers. Does a pensioners ' drink afternoons Monday to Thursday of a nip and a half pint of selected spirits at reduced price. Lots of TV for sport coverage with noise level low.

We were very disappointed by the new quiz app format, it's antisocial, no interaction and doesn't work for a group. The app didn't have sound so many questions were just a guess. Not available on TV so whole group could see questions. Very disappointed. The staff and food are great, so it's a pity we loved the traditional quiz with the chat, lets have that back

Not going to even give a rating because we didn't show up. Calling an hour before and telling me that our reservation is cancelled because their reservation system is not working, is not my problem! The host Amy, said that she would rather just call the first person and have a difficult conversation with me, who reserved a table ONE MONTH before, than someone else. What a great disappointment when we were really looking forward to a post work treat. This is not how you treat customers because you have issues with your system. If you had a booking for a group of 15 when I booked a table on May 27th is absolutely pathetic. Teach your staff better because I will definitely not be coming back to your establishment anymore nor recommend to others.

Had a deal that was for 2 pizzas and a beer flight each. The vegan pizzas were amazing and trying all the beers was really interesting(even though I’m not a beer person). Staff was friendly and knowledgable, will definitely be back and recommend it to others. :)

We stopped in for lunch. We had a great pizza and I had glass of Lefty Scissors IPA. Both were great. This is a nice Brewdog in Scotland's fourth largest city. Very clean city by the way.

In comparison to other brewdog bars, this one is quite small but it definitely makes do with what space they have. Pizzas and cheeseboard were delicious and the staff were very friendly, positive and helpful!

First time virgin in this bar. Nice bar with a good mixed crowd of beautiful people, although difficult to tell as the light levels were low but that pleased me as I’m very attractive on the eye when it’s pitch black! Ordered a pint of Caesar Augustus which came with magnificent head and was most enjoyable. Found a seat at a table beside the door when a lovely young couple joined me and after about 10 mins the three of us were playing Connect 4. Truely memorable and enjoyable and I loved this bar.

Another great option on Perth Road. Really cosy and welcoming. It's quite dark with all the drinks you might want, both mainstream and craft. There are a couple of cask taps. Staff are excellent: polite and positive. Definitely worth visiting again.

Book lovers heaven! Lives up to its name. The decor in this place is like stepping into a bookish wonderland with a huge selection of drinks. Beautiful ornate fireplace at its heart, incense burning and some really cool posters inside. Prints of classic books make up the wallpaper. Love the furniture also. Staff are super chatty and friendly, drinks are very reasonably priced. Good selection of beers and ciders. The atmosphere is super relaxed, great for a quiet drink with some friends or even a solo drink whilst you tuck into a new book. Great playlist also. My local and fav in Dundee!

We went out for some food Friday night, we stopped by the secret bar for a drink before moving on. Only cocktails on the drinks menu, very nice though. It was pretty dead when we went in but it was an enjoyable drink.

Went to Draffens and the prohibition themed bar was so well done and such an amazing environment. The menu was very interesting and when I was stuck for what to order the server recommended a cocktail on the menu that I would have never ordered of my own volition but boy am I glad I got it. It had curry syrup and pickle in it but you wouldn't know, it was the perfect blend of sophistication with a kick. Will definitely be back.

Me and my partner finally had a rare night off from the baby and decided to check out this bar in Dundee. On arrival, I was genuinely blown away — the place is stunning. It’s tucked away, full of character, and felt like a proper hidden gem. I was honestly excited to be there. The night started off strong. The first bartender was excellent — friendly, professional, made a great martini, and gave us the kind of welcome you expect from a quality establishment. Then the shift changed. And that’s where the night went downhill — fast. The next guy behind the bar was an absolute disgrace. Within minutes of speaking to us, he started making crude, unnecessary comments about London (where I’m from) and mocking everything about the culture. It was relentless, personal, and downright disgusting. My partner is Scottish — so this wasn’t a back-and-forth banter situation. It was straight-up targeted abuse, full of arrogance and venom. And somehow, he thought it was acceptable to ask for a tip after all that? It was actually jaw-dropping how someone working in hospitality could speak to customers like that. If this was anywhere else, he would’ve been sacked on the spot. It was toxic, hostile, and completely unprovoked. I left feeling humiliated and angry. What was supposed to be a relaxing night turned into a complete disaster, thanks to one repulsive, ignorant staff member who should not be anywhere near the front line of a service business. I’ll be sharing this experience widely — and I hope whoever runs this place seriously reconsiders who they let represent their name. Because if this guy’s attitude is what you stand for, you’ve just lost more than a customer — you’ve trashed your own reputation. My response to your reply Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but I have to say I’m quite disappointed by the way my feedback has been received. I wasn’t expecting a defensive reply I was hoping for a bit of reflection and understanding. To clarify, the bartender who took over from the first (who was excellent, by the way) very clearly said, “I dislike anything south — London is toxic, and the people there are cold and heartless.” That wasn’t a misinterpretation, and both my partner and I heard it. We even tried to steer the conversation elsewhere, but he continued, making further remarks about the East End. Whether those were personal views or an attempt at humour, they were completely inappropriate especially considering he had no idea where we’re from. As someone who is from London, it felt like a direct insult. Even if no offence was intended, it was offensive nonetheless. That kind of comment simply doesn’t belong in a customer-facing setting. I understand that people see things differently, but to deny it happened or suggest it was misunderstood feels dismissive. I gave you honest feedback in good faith. All I really wanted was acknowledgement that, regardless of intent, the experience left a negative impression on an otherwise lovely evening.

Cool, hidden spot in Dundee that our daughter knew about. I had the Guv'nor, which was good. Has Mezcal, but isn't too smokey. My wife and daughter liked their drinks - can't remember those offhand. Good spot for unique, craft cocktails.

Myself and some friends from work had some drinks in Draffens tonight and had a great experience. Ross was our Bartender and was absolutely excellent and full of good chat. The drinks themselves were delicious. Would thoroughly recommend!

A true gem of a pub. Just dropped in for a drink after work, and my heart was warmed. Fab atmosphere, one of the locals was having a birthday. The efficient, dedicated bar men served me a pint of Tim Taylors ale that was so good it took me back to my youth. Felt welcomed and comfortable. If only this was my local!

This is an excellent bar dating from the Edwardian era. A brilliant range of beers are served and well kept here. Good place to watch sports and sit in good company. Genuinely one of my favourite bars anywhere. Staff are superb. Can't fault the place. Also great on a sunny day. You can sit outside and watch the Perth Road go by.

Still one of the best, if not THE best, pubs in Dundee.

Dundee's best pub, beautifully traditional looking both inside and out with wooden panelling and in the lounges which are cosy rooms off the main bar. The pub appearance is trad however the beer choice is vibrant with modern craft beers alongside the cask ales. There's is food too which was fresh/ hand made. Atmosphere excellent with a good mix of young and old people.

Best public house in the West end. Very cosy, elegant and the staff are amazing. This is our local and we love it. Excellent selection of whisky, gin, and local beer.

We purchased tickets for a gig on the 11th of January, which said that the band would be live from 5pm. They did not start until 6.15pm, and the place was absolutely freezing. Everyone had on coats/jackets, infact some people had scarves and gloves on!

Was so disappointed. Haven't been there for couple of years, had a great time when we've been. Live music, very busy and good atmosphere. Now I've no idea what has happened but definitely gone downhill. Wouldn't go again.

Possibly the best mac and cheese I've ever had and the nicest staff. Saw a great local band called Two Wheel Good there back in 2017. Amazing live music!

Decent bar, had a good selection of beers on draft and several more varieties bottled. Service initially started off pretty good but when a friend showed signs of excessive drunkeness they advised they'd called a taxi and moments later advised the taxi had arrived. However, exiting the premises there was no taxi and it seemed that instead of showing they cared for my friends wellbeing they just wanted her out of the pub!

Good alcohol selection, friendly staff, music too loud to hold a conversation. They do alcohol free Guinness which is a plus.

I have not tried the food but was here with one of my friends on an open mic night and had a few drinks and must say the atmosphere is lovely, such nice staff at the bar and so welcoming. The person I was with sang as well and had an amazing response even when he did miss the lyrics here and there, the crowd still cheered on him. A perfect place to vibe in with your friends.

I loved going to Art bar but recently the male staff member is offensively rude! He didn’t follow the instruction about how we want our drink to be and out rightly said, “now the drink is made, you have to take it!”. While walking out at the end when we gave him the feedback, he again was hell rude and said, Now leave! Highly disappointed!!! People visiting this bar don’t come for fancy drinks or fancy place! It’s the atmosphere, the calmness! Please maintain that! Look and train your staff if you are hiring new people!

Great vibe, great music, great people, been away from Dundee for about five years, I come back at least one or twice every year during that time. It hasn't changed. That is a good thing. Will always be one my favourite bars to drink in. Love it here!

The Barkeeper is such a great guy who knows exactly what to recommend. I had the best Mai Thai in my life and the process how he makes the drinks is entertaining . This tiny little cocktail bar does amazing cocktails, tad expensive but well worth a visit on an evening or night out. Watching the mixologist making the cocktails is fascinating.

Great little Rum ‘cocktail’ bar. Literally hundreds of different types of rum. Small intimate place, which does not have big street signage, nestled amongst others. Went as a group, friendly, bar staff know their rum.

One of my favourite bars in Dundee, an amazing selection of rums and great cocktails. Staff are all brilliant and can always reccomend something good to try.

If you didn't know it was there you'd walk right past it (no signage)! I'm glad I did go in though, because this is a great wee pub, with an emphasis on 'wee' as it's not much bigger than my living room. But boy, does it pack a lot of fun and pizzazz into its space. Cuban influenced and with latino background music, the two barmen, in themed attire, serving up all the mojitoes you can handle (other cocktails and drinks are available). Clearly a favourite with the locals who, like me, enjoyed the sway of the atmosphere. It's always the sign of a good pub when the staff remember you from the night before and serve you up your drink of preference before you give the order. This should definitely be on your 'goto' list if you like pubs with character - just be prepared to stand(!)

Brilliant food and great food choice! The portion size you get is amazing especially for the little price you pay! Can not fault anything about the food, order at least twice a month and everything is always piping hot and fresh on arrival!

Food was outstanding . Kids hot dog was about a foot long (managed it right enough) and the staff were brilliant . Football on two screens , burger and beer for 7quid and 4 quality pool tables . Highly recommend

We went down to celebrate my son's 18th and we had a great time. Lots of great deals on drinks and the price for the pool tables are very decent, especially as the first hour was free on the day we went. Some of us ordered food, which was served piping hot and delicious. The ladies behind the bar were amazing and very accommodating to our sometimes noisy group. They even cut up our cake for us. I would definitely recommend this place for a few drinks, some good food and a few games of pool.

The food was extremely nice. Had the salt and pepper chicken munchie box and its the nicest one I've had yet. The chilli's certainly had a kick. The kids loved their kids meals. They were stuffed too. Definitely can't wait to go back.

We went to Embassy snooker club to play some pool but it was full so we popped into Sportsrerz. A pool table was available and it was a nice atmosphere, not too rowdy. I would definitely recommend this place.

Delivery was earlier than stated, which was great coz we were hungry 😋. Food was fantastic, so much and very tasty. Fries were the crispiest fries we've had from a takeaway/ delivery sevice. Great value and will definitely order again. One tiny thing and I just might be my own taste but I thought the burger itself could do with a bit more seasoning, but still ate the whole lot 😄, so not complaining.

Dined in with the Mr and kids, we were very impressed with the friendly service and Pete the manager was very helpful and accommodating. Our eldest is a picky eater and it can be hard to get him to eat out but to our delight he ate everything! The childs menu was a fabulous portion size and great value for money. We especially enjoyed the salt/pepper chicken - better than most chineses'. Would highly recommend and we'll certainly be back 😊

Decent staff, decent prices. Got kicked out from the bouncers because I went out for air a couple times (I’m asthmatic). Absolutely disgusting how I was singled out. This club is appalling! This makes me want to give negative stars!! The bouncers don’t care, they will pick on you whether you are drunk or sober and not let you in as they want to “show that they are doing their job” when they are just picking and choosing people because they can. They will kick anyone out the club who they choose. Unfortunately it was me they chose to constantly watch when I was having fun with mates. I would never recommend here after this, Aberdeen underground is much better than Dundee’s underground. Never return or get money from me again! Not only that I will never, EVER recommend to anyone! AVOID!!! THERE IS BETTER CLUBS THAN THIS DUMP!!!

Within moments of entering Underground I found myself comparing drunk women to baby giraffes learning to walk. I made the decision to wear a high vis jacket on my last visit, next time I will wear a headtorch and bring a loudhailer in hopes of being served at the bar before the club closes.

Have had a number of brilliant nights at Underground during my years at uni. Nicole in particular has always been excellent; whether on the bar, at the door, or manning the cloakroom!

I and my fiance got past the bouncers and went to pay when one of the bouncers came down to say my fiance couldn't get in because he had shorts on. (Last minute decision to go to pub then underground.) So women can wear short dresses, skirts etc but men can't wear shorts? They were just above the knee. They could have went about it in a better way. Although seems we had a lucky escape from some of the reviews.

Good prices, nice lightings on the ceilings and nice staff but way too packed on Saturdays, speakers are not good quality. Could be a lot better with a small investment… Still a monument in Dundee tho!

Me and my partner had valid ID but got refused by bouncer. Honestly wondering how people who can't afford a passport or divers license can get in. Aberdeen underground let us in with young scott ans out of date passport but not Dundees? To add to this even though they have stated they only accept people with driving licence and passports due to a safety issue yet I have seen them accept myself and others in on previous occasions with a young Scot card. Why is it only sometimes but not others.

Disgusting is a word for the whole experience. I have just returned home from Dundee as I was up for the weekend. We had a booth booked and paid £95 for some tramp of a girl to start on my friend and did anyone do anything about it , no! No bouncers , no help , not one person interested. 2 hours later they decide to throw us out when nothing was our fault. Everyone working there is so rude. Obviously not people friendly. They obviously just want you’re money. We are writing a formal complaint and police have been involved also. Wouldn’t waste you’re time in that dive. They need to sort out who they let in and who they employ obviously!

My partner and I haven't gone out much over the last few years, but we decided to visit this pub at Christmas, we had a good night and subsequently went back at New Year and also a couple of other times including more recently popping in for a few drinks for my birthday. Prices are reasonable, friendly staff and really nice owners who make you feel welcome. Can't fault it.

Fantastic pub! Never really one for venturing out to local pubs. However myself and a friend went to have a few drinks and watch the euro football, had an absolute blast, all accommodated for covid, track and trace the moment you walk in with a friendly smile and service. Great staff, competitive prices and great vibes all round! Don't bother going into town for a pint, come here and enjoy the local vibes.

Unfortunately we were there for a wake after out friends funeral. But the owners made our visit so helpful and kind. Their attention to everyone who was there. But our visit was very welcoming and friendly staff.

Pretty good tbf, had drinks and chips while there on saturday for a birthday. Was busy inside a bit hard to get a seat. But i thought it was all round a good pub for drinks, i had loaded chips which were decent too and service was no bad ! Would be back

Fantastic Guinness and spice bag on my last visit. Great range of drinks, shots and cocktails for those that indulge. Very friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

Great pub and even better beer garden

1 staff member was absolutely ridiculously rude in the main bar! Service was the slowest I've ever experienced! This place had went right downhill and we will not be back!

Our server came out with our food in hand and took a puff of assumingly her friends "cigarette" on another table with our food in her hands, then proceeded to hand it to us, absolutely not on, drinks are kind of bland with the main pint madre being like fizzy water and then to top it off, asked our table to be cleared which was done but not wiped so there was still food remaining on the table from previous participants, honestly I am shocked, i thought kilted kangaroo ruined boozy cow but no, jessica o'marleys have managed to top that by ruining the place even further, almost nothing is taken care of and indoors are super dark on a sunny day.

Splendid cellar bar with a little stage: staff were brilliantly helpful and its one of those bars where if you aren't sure what to order, they'll say 'do you want to try it first?' Friendly, cheerful and next door to excellent Lebanese takeout.

When we arrived it was really chill but it did get extremely busy with a crowd of young students who didn’t seem to have any self awareness which soured the experience a little. Drinks are very well priced and it’s got really nice decor.

Nice atmosphere and live music or DJ on Saturday night. Reasonable prices. There is only one ladies toilet so queue can be long.
