Tapas restaurant
Sol y Sombra Tapas Bar is a popular spot in Broughty Ferry, offering high-quality Spanish-influenced cuisine. The menu features a variety of authentic dishes designed for sharing, such as patatas bravas and seafood paella. The restaurant also offers different specials every night and two-for-one drinks on Tuesdays.
Excellent tapas bar. Warm friendly welcome from the helpful staff. Set menu of 9 dishes, mix of hot and cold. Depends what is fresh and in season and delivered on the day. Good range of wines and beer including Estrella Galicia 0.0 which was pretty good.

WOW We visited today for my birthday and had the set menu which is a case of tell us anything you dislike and we will feed you. A very clever concept of eating a blind menu and what a treat. Every dish packed full of flavour with fresh ingredients presented beautifully. The setting is stunning the service is stunning the food is stunning and for 10 courses each including 4 drinks was a stunning price of £51. This is a hidden gem in a lovely part of the world and blew me away on every level. This is Spanish Tapas at a different level. Thanks to all the staff.
David C — Google review
Great tasting food. The chicken salad, honey and cheese were heavenly. Good ambiance and friendly staff. We had a delay with the service due to some system issues, however the staff handled it really well. Would highly recommend.
Arul S — Google review
- Bowls with large chips on the rim used for serving dishes - Bread inedible due to being burnt - also didn’t seem to be freshly made - feels like a supermarket par-baked thing. - I’d put a note on the booking that it was for my mums birthday and how hard she works , they didn’t acknowledge this in any way by saying happy birthday etc. overall the hospitality just wasn’t great , an upbeat and energetic server who also ensures they are presentable makes a big difference to peoples experience. We were also ignored as we left saying goodbye and thank you, even though we tipped - all the tables are different which feels a bit odd , one of which has high backed armchairs at it and personally I’d ask to move if seated there as it’s not appropriate for eating a sit down meal at, you’d have to perch forward the entire time. - There’s bits of plaster about to fall off of the ceiling near the bathrooms - Drinks menus were very sticky

- Clipboard menus were clunky to use and felt unprofessional
, the set menu isn't on the menu, we had to ask about it. - Plates weren’t refreshed between courses so you had to scrape sauce from the last dishes over to the side - A few of the dishes were very salty - I think if you are serving a full table with a set menu then the dishes really need to be spot on and delicious. I came here a few years ago and it was incredible food , but I’d honestly give it a 4 out of 10. It was…. Fine? just about fine. - the cold tapas was very underwhelming and not a lot of it for 4 people. The hot tapas was marginally better but salty , the chicken wings overcooked so hard to eat and overall an odd selection. - The music also kept cutting out and it made for a very awkward atmosphere, I’m also not sure why you would play Taylor swift songs in a tapas restaurant. Wouldn’t visit again unfortunately , this was one of my favourite restaurants.
Robyn G — Google review
Nice authentic style tapas restaurant. No food menus were given, instead only asked if we have any dietary requirements. We were served 6 cold starters and 6 hot main dishes all of which were amazing. We shared some sangria which was amazing and got a dessert each. We will definitely come back here !

*ALLERGEN WARNING* To preface, I have been here a few times before, and have previously recommended it to all my friends, and would have given it 5 stars then. My recent experience at Sol y Sombra left a lot to be desired. Both on my reservation, and when ordering I told them about my allergies, however they still brought me dishes with those allergens visibly present. When I pointed this out, I was questioned if I have even told the wait staff about this allergy. My bill and the reservation show I did. The dish was then taken away, and when I asked if the other dishes were safe since they were served, and potentially cooked, right next to the allergen containing dish, I was told they 'should be fine'. Other issues: I ordered the same wine twice, and the second time I ordered it the white wine came out red. After the second course, all of our plates were taken and put table was cleared, which we thought meant our service was over, at which point we asked for the bill, got asked to leave a tip, and got ready to leave. Then more food was brought out to us? With no plates or cutlery to eat it with. Later, we then asked for a box to take the food away with, and had all our cutlery taken and plates taken again, so we just had to slide our food off the serving plates into the box. Also, the men's bathroom has no toilet roll holder and instead the toilet paper is kept of a shelf that is sloped, about to fall off the wall, straight towards the toilet. Food has reduced in quality since I first went, really disappointing meal and service with a previous local favourite.
Duncan W — Google review
Food was cooked well and the service was first class. Decor, music and seating arrangement created a nice relaxed atmosphere for a night out. Other two members of our party loved their evening, I did feel that the set menu only format took something away from the tapas experience. For me tapas is all about picking several small dishes of food from the menu and mixing and matching your favourites, enjoying a drink and then ordering some more if you still have room! The set menu format was almost like a tasting menu where you have little control over what food will be served that evening. Cant fault anything, service and food/drink was great and evening was thoroughly enjoyed. Just not convinced by set menu.
Kev D — Google review
First time back since the restaurant has changed hands. We booked for a Tuesday and it was half price Tuesday. Yeehaa. The food was great, especially the meat skewers. Around 10 different dishes were served to us. We would recommend especially the Tuesday sitting as it was great value. A few beers and sangria and food all for £48 No photos this visit as we were too busy chatting.

Nestled in the heart of Dundee, Tahini Restaurant is a vibrant gem that invites you to embark on a culinary journey through Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine. With its quirky decor and warm ambiance, this eatery offers an array of small plates perfect for sharing, including hot and cold mezze that tantalize your taste buds. The menu features delightful dishes such as zucchini with meat and milk, freekeh with chicken broth, and savory stuffed cabbage.
FANTASTIC! Despite living in Edinburgh it’s our second time at this place this year. We went on the 16/11/24 and had the tapas menus. Lots of food and very tasty with friendly service . Nothing was too much for the staff and the atmosphere was truest excellent. Top notch and well worth a visit.

Visited twice, one with friends, then following night with other friends. Luvly friendly staff, we ordered House white wine, which was very nice. Then the £29.95 cold/hot meze dishes, and grilled meat, finishing with water melon and Baklava. Our food was delicious, tasty flat bread to dip into hummas, veg and beetroot dishes. Staff were luvly, chatty and engaging, I thoroughly njoyed my visit, so much I returned the next evening with hubby and friends. Everyone njoyed their food. Will be back. :) :)

f I could give more than 5 stars, I would. What an experience! We arrived during the busiest time without a booking, yet the staff were incredibly welcoming and managed to accommodate us with no fuss. We ordered the Chicken Shish, and it was absolutely delicious, it was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, and staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lovely family-friendly vibe and a great ambiance overall.Thank you, Tahini, for a spot-on experience! We’ll definitely be coming back. Next time with a proper booking 😅

We came here in the back of great reviews . We arrived at 4:30 pm today . We were served - the bread was cold and the salad limp . No one came to check how the food was even though she took the plates and I clearly left the rice bread and salad on my plate . The waitress was spending her time gossiping to her colleague and we were the only ones in when we arrived and another able joined us .this is our first meal of the day and we’re hoping for the price it was going to be good . For this level of food they should be charging no more than £10 per plate . The dishes are £16:95 each !! The starters are £7:95 for a hummus - we won’t be coming here again and sad that our only meal in Dundee was mediocre and overpriced

Sometimes you just get really lucky. We’re passing through Dundee and decided to try this. We had the hot and cold meze. They turned out to be amongst the best meals I’ve had. The food was absolutely incredible. Service and kindness was top notch too.
Phil D — Google review
Had my mums birthday lunch here recently, friendly laid back service and beautiful food. We had the set menu which had so much variety and loads of fresh, tasty food. Great value for money, we’ll be back.
Karen J — Google review
Great food and really warm and friendly service. Portion sizes really good value for money - we fed 5 adults for under £60 and had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Falafels were especially yummy. Brilliant little restaurant!
Sally L — Google review
I don’t think I’ve ever been so full. The food is amazing, with loads of vegan items to choose from even in the fixed menu. Hard to choose a favourite dish from the 18, yes 18, different foods they out down in front of us. Intense flavours make you want more, more than you have room for. A nice bottle of Lebanese wine to wash it all down too, a little pricey but worth it (and there were less expensive house wines).

Modern European restaurant
Collinsons Restaurant offers a modern take on local ingredients in a contemporary dining space. Chef-Owner Stephen Collinson's expertise shines through in the classic yet generous dishes, such as smoked haddock rarebit and roasted venison with port and cassis sauce. The restaurant prides itself on using seasonal and local produce from Tayside and Fife, offering a two or three-course menu showcasing the region's flavors.
We visited Collinsons for dinner after my graduation. It is rare to visit a restaurant these days where everything from the service to the food is faultlessly executed. Here it is. Each course was perfect. The service was friendly and the ambiance relaxed. I wish Collinsons was closer to London!!
John R — Google review
We were at Collinsons celebrating a golden wedding last night. Couldn't fault anything. Staff were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble.A fine dining restaurant right in the heart of Broughty Ferry. It all added to the celebration being one to remember.
Andrew N — Google review
Everything was just perfect, one of the best meals we ever had.
Monika S — Google review
We specified it was our anniversary and loved that they decorated the plate. All food hot, delicious and very pretty. The only alcohol offered was wine, no cocktails or spirits and the restaurant was full and with a buzzing atmosphere but it became quite warm inside.
Becca — Google review
Booked as a special treat for my husband's retirement. On arrival we were told there was no table for us and that they'd tried to call me to advise. I had no missed calls. Very disappointing and won't be back
Lynne M — Google review
3 course lunch is great value and it’s possibly the best meal I have had in the Tayside area. Wine list compact but definitely something for everyone. Well worth a visit.
Garry M — Google review
A disappointing atmosphere ruined what could’ve been a special night Let me start by saying we don’t usually go to high-end restaurants, but we wanted to treat ourselves to a romantic evening with a bit of elegance. Since this is the only restaurant in Dundee listed in the Michelin guide, it felt like a great choice. The food was excellent—flavourful, well-presented, and clearly crafted with care. Portion sizes were just right: not too much, not too little. Unfortunately, the experience as a whole didn’t live up to our expectations. There was a group of 6 or 7 people seated nearby who were incredibly loud throughout the evening. We could barely hear each other talk, which made it hard to enjoy what was meant to be a quiet, romantic dinner. The staff did apologise a few times, but nothing changed. The noise gave the place more of a pub-like vibe than the classy atmosphere we were hoping for. We were genuinely relieved by the quiet street outside when we left. We also waited around 40 minutes between our starter and main course. The staff did let us know there would be a slight delay due to a large turnout, but that’s barely an excuse. It’s very likely that the table was reserved in advance, so the number of guests shouldn’t have come as a surprise. A restaurant of this calibre should have been better prepared for the evening. There was also a small issue with how one of the dishes was handled. We wanted to try the venison but don’t enjoy rare or medium meat, so we asked if it could be served well done. The waitress seemed slightly surprised but said it would be no problem. However, the meat came clearly medium. While it was still tasty and we did enjoy it, we would have appreciated an honest answer if they couldn’t prepare it our way—we would’ve simply picked another dish. All in all, the food was genuinely good, but everything else around it didn’t live up to what we hoped for. We were happy to pay more for a full experience, but sadly, it just wasn’t there.
Tamás S — Google review
Always good food. We were greeted by welcoming staff. They attended to quickly and regularly. We chose the 3 course menu. I had pork belly to start, conditions duck for main and white chocolate croissant pudding for sweet. My friend had chicken, chorizo ballotine, then fillet of trout and joined me with the same sweet. It was all brilliant. Its one of the best restaurants in this area.

Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Broughty Ferry, The Tayberry Restaurant is a culinary gem that opened its doors in November 2015, thanks to Chef Proprietor Adam Newth's passion for food and his mission to elevate Tayside's gastronomic reputation. This contemporary dining establishment boasts a relaxed atmosphere spread across two levels, adorned with neutral decor accented by soft purple tones—a nod to the tayberry fruit that originated nearby.
Second time visiting here and can honestly say that is my favourite place in Dundee to eat. The food was incredible - fresh, delicious and a feast for the eye. Good selection of wines and champagne and allowed us to taste some before making our choice. The service was top notch, staff were incredible attentive and friendly and completed the whole experience wonderfully. Highly recommend eating here - a real jewel in Dundee’s crown. Thank you and look forward to eating here real soon.

Visited on Valentine’s Day for their four course meal. Service was great but then the courses started getting slower to be served. The food was honestly quite average, well presented but the taste was not amazing. My main dish had an issue they did offer to replace it but by the fourth course I was stuffed so declined it. The ambiance was a more dark and cozy vibe but the seating was way too close for comfort.
Carmen C — Google review
We used our Christmas voucher for a 6 course tasting menu tonight. Food was excellent, hot salmon starter, pork belly next, the scallops, main was haggis, needs & tatties with Grouse breast, the cheese course and last but not least, hazelnut creme brulee which was amazing.

Awesome food and lovely staff. We didnt get one of the best tables, everything else was spot on. Woukd recommended to anyone wanting some top end food. We got it on an itson voucher so even better value 👌

Went by car from Perth, plenty of parking in the street and round the corner. Got a space right in front. 6 course taster menu. We had a voucher so we each dropped a different dessert so we could try them all. Given bread and a crab paste to eat while our food was prepared. We ordered drinks of tayberry purée and rose lemonade. Enjoyed it so much had another. The food was varied and well presented, enjoyed them all, even the pheasant with snails. Favourite was the pollock on squash soup. Very comfortable evening. Couldn’t eat any more.

We were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our table, which was by the window. We both had 3 courses and a bottle of wine. I had steak tartare, pork belly and chocolate device. My friend had the valoute, the fish and lime leaf set custard. There was also bread to begin, which was served with saracha butter. It was all amazing. Wonderful food, all so different and innovative. Will be back.
Vanessa A — Google review
A warm welcome & polite service throughout our meal. We were served our food at a reasonable timing, however when it started to get a bit busier we were waiting considerably longer. The food was nice & we were asked about allergies/ dislikes to avoid being served them and also offered the vegetarian option. I felt quite cramped in the corner once it started getting busier and didn’t want to get up to use the restroom as people would’ve had to pull their chairs in. Food is tasty and it was a new experience for us.

Gallery 48 is a stylish and contemporary bar and restaurant located in Old Towns West Port, offering a fusion of Spanish tapas dishes and wines in a refined setting adorned with modern art. The menu combines bold Chinese and Thai flavors with delicate Japanese dishes, available through set menus or à la carte options during dinner. The space features hanging red lanterns, black furnishings, and local artwork on the walls, creating an atmosphere akin to a contemporary art space.
We made a last minute booking on the phone and the staff were great to find a slot to squeeze us in! I have previously not had good experiences with Tapas, but this restaurant was excellent. Every dish we ordered was full of flavour and a great size. I would recommend going with 3-4 people as an ideal group size to share all of the plates. The restaurant itself had a lovely atmosphere that felt like a genuinely good and friendly place to eat!

We booked a Brunch for 8 of us to surprise our friend who is expecting her first baby soon. Can’t recommend Gallery 48 enough for this type of occasion, the staff were amazing. We’ve all been a few times for dinner but this was our first time trying the breakfast menu and it was sooo good and so affordable as well. We booked another table for in 2 weeks time so we can come back again!
Lauren M — Google review
Food was excellent and staff were attentive , mixed platter was excellent value for money at £17 . Ordered 5 additional tapas and two of them came after we had finished everything else which we thought was a bit strange ( maybe easier to make a few of these dishes at once? ) . Also beer selection was good and if you are into Gin there's some amount on offer
John — Google review
We have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner now and every time it has been very tasty. The food is so reasonably priced and each dish was very flavourful. The service is great and there was a lovely atmosphere. A great place if you like to share and try new things.

1st time here and we will come back. The place was nicely decorated with prints from local artists to buy and tables were a mix of tall and normal height. It was busy for a Sunday night with a mixture of all Ages. We went for 3 tapas each and a cheeseboard and sangria. The food was lovely and the staff was very friendly and attentive.

We wanted somewhere nice to celebrate our daughter's graduation and were not disappointed. The staff are young, competent and friendly. The food is amazing with several options for food allergies/choices. A very enjoyable experience.

Spanish and Middle Eastern small plates and excellent wines, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available. Recommend the delicious tapas of Catalan Spinach, the fig and Goat Cheese salad and the Aubergine. It was a very quiet day, with few tables occupied and 4 waitresses, but apparently only one in active duty, the order were taken after a long wait. Nice atmosphere with art books to peruse during the wait and fresh flowers and candles on the tables. Lovely cool Mesta wine.
Katia M — Google review
Incredible lunch deals and quite possibly the best soup in town. It can be loud if you go in the evening but it’s an ambient kind of noise as long as you’re prepared. The gallery exhibitions make it an ever changing space and I’m always excited to go and see what’s new.

Really lovely brunch. The brioche toast though, could have more sauce on the side or on it. Still a great experience. Decent pricing also. First time trying bubble and squeak benny and I must say it was my favourite. Bursting of flavour.

Delicious food and coffee. Service was slow which was the only downside. Really cute wee place with a nice atmosphere. Will definitely come back again.

Worst experience. I was recommended to come here and I was extremely disappointed. We ordered two breakfasts. As vegetarians and that was made clear. I was given bacon on my plate. They took the bacon off and gave the plate back. It was unprofessional of them as they should have made a fresh plate. Got my food back and the eggs were so undercooked so changed my order. Partner didn’t eat his as the his eggs were extremely undercooked. Charged full price which was £41 even with a pathetic £4 taken off. We shouldn’t have been charged for at least one of the meals. Disappointed and do not recommend!
Kirsty S — Google review
Went for brunch as many recommended. Pastrami toastie had a tiny slither of pastrami. Poor value. Partner left feeling hungry. Haevos pacamara was bland. Coffee was alright. No seats inside. So happy to sit outside. Very wobbly bench & table. Better value tastier brunch options elsewhere.

Amazing place. We went there for breakfast on a Sunday. It was quite busy already. Unfortunately they only accept walk-ins. We were lucky that there were a few tables available. We had the waffles and brioche French toast. Delicious. Coffee was very good as well. Their cake selection looked great and we're yet to try them. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We're looking forward to going back.

Small interesting cafe by Perth road. Tried 2 dishes. Korean buttermilk fried chicken with Gochujang chili sauce. The waffles was made well with a certain crisp to it and wasn’t burnt. The sweetness of the honey waffles went well with the sweetness and spicyness of the fried chicken. Recommended to try! Whereas for the Beef burger. The beef patty was slightly over cooked but everything came well together. However, the rusted fries was however something you should get , it was fried perfectly and well seasoned!

Just absolutely outstanding, one of the best restaurants in Dundee. Have been coming here for years and yet to be disappointed. Service is both friendly and quick. Portions are very generous and most importantly the food is beautiful. There’s also a nice cocktail menu (I recommend purple rain). Corona is the lager on draft. It would be nice if there was maybe one more for a bit of choice but in fairness they do also offer bottled beer.

Great atmosphere, and service. The food was also very tasty although we didn't like a lot the desert, 'churros'. This ofc might have been due to personal preferences. Also, we think that the big menus were not very handy. The cocktails needed a bit more alcohol (again personal preference). Everything else was excellent!

One of my favourite restaurants in Dundee! Excellent, rich flavours, and a variety of menu options to suit most palates! Would recommend the enchiladas (with Poblano sauce!) as well as the fajitas. Cajun chips as a side were truly well done!!! Staff are friendly, accommodative and attentive, happy to offer a sample of the sauce if required. Atmosphere is great, although a tad too dim/dark for our liking. Drinks are lovely too - would recommend the strawberry daiquiri! *Almost always needs reservations, and is often booked out - reserve in advance*

The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was tasty, though I wasn't a fan of the salsa but that could be down to personal taste. I had a couple of margaritas, my personal favourite of them was the pineapple version.

Visited Rancho Pancho yesterday and I must say—this is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve dined at in Dundee. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed by Maya, setting the tone for an amazing evening. I kicked things off with the Nachos Grande with chicken, paired with a glass of Big Wednesday. The nachos were phenomenal—crunchy, flavorful, and loaded, with possibly the best guacamole I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried a lot from different countries!). For my main, I had the Margarita Chicken: strips of marinated chicken breast pan-fried with cumin, chillies, garlic, cream, and a dash of Jose Cuervo Gold. It was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. While it could’ve used a bit more spice, the flavors were still top-tier and well-balanced. It came with rice, sour cream, and flour tortillas—perfect accompaniments. I paired the meal with a glass of Pinot Grigio and later tried a Hurricane cocktail, which was refreshing and well-mixed. To finish, I went all out with a shot of Don Julio 1942—smooth and the perfect cap to the meal. Service & Atmosphere Special shoutout to Sarah and Maya who looked after me all evening. Their attentive and friendly service really made the experience stand out. The restaurant’s layout and vibrant décor create such a warm, festive vibe—it's Instagram-worthy and comfortable. From food to drinks to service, Rancho Pancho delivered on every level. Can’t wait to return!

Heard a lot about this place, so made the trip from Edinburgh up to Dundee to find out for myself. Was it good? Well, yes it was. Was it fabulous? Not sure. Arrived 5 minutes before opening and instead of being offered the drinks menu and our table, we were asked to go back out into the rain until the full compliment of staff arrived. 5 minutes early!! Once at our table, service was quick and satisfactory. Food was very good, it really was, traditional Mexican options to eat on your own or to share. But the menu did not offer anything that I had not seen before. Cost was a little more than I expected, but I had no problem handing over the cash as it had been a good experience over all.

My hubby and I had a delicious meal at Rancho Panchos. We were running late due to traffic and were worried we'd lose our table but when we phoned the staff member reassured us we had our table until 6.30pm and they would rush our food for us when we got there. We finally got there at 5.30pm, table was booked for 5pm. I had a raspberry margarita which was very good. We ordered our food and it was with us very quickly. I had 2 starters as my main course, the loaded potato skins and nachos. My hubby had the fajitas combo and he ended up helping me with the nachos as I was so full. All the food was well cooked & delicious. Staff were excellent. We loved all the day of the dead themed artwork in the restaurant. We'll definitely be booking here again! Tip: Make sure you pre-book. The restaurant was fully booked when we went.

Always had good food from this family run business however, a special occasion was booked well in advance then I called a few days beforehand to adjust the booking to be told they were unsure if they were going to be open, that someone would call me the next night...guess what? I had to phone them back to be told no manager available and still unsure if open could I call back? So called the next night....unsure why I was even bothering at this point tbh but no manager again, the girl was just home from uni and helping out could I phone at 4pm the next day....the DAY BEFORE OUR BOOKING, I phoned anyway as we actually wanted to still go lol but when I did phone, I was advised the manager was serving a table, could they pop me on hold? ....Then I was cut off....so I phoned back AGAIN to be met with STINKING ATTITUDE, asking if I was the one who had been continually phoning??? Eh yes!!!! I was utterly shocked to be told that I had been told already they are closed on Saturday........When I pointed out my many phonecalls during which not one of their staff knew the restaurant was closed that day, I got a half hearted apology said in anger. I have been left utterly shocked and appalled by this behaviour and aggressive attitude towards me that I honestly would not feel comfortable to ever set foot in that place again. I advised that it is totally understandable that things change but advance warning would have been preferred in order that I may make alternative arrangements. This is no way to treat loyal customers. I think he may not have spoken to me like that had I been male, shouting over me any time I tried to convey my upset at this treatment. Anyway, I'm not interested in your no doubt justified response to this review, you know how you acted and I'll NEVER RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN.

Gidi Grill in Dundee is a laid-back restaurant offering a fusion of West African and Caribbean food, along with international dishes like sushi and schnitzel. The grill restaurant is known for its homestyle steak, pasta plates, and burgers with fries. It's located in the picturesque City Quay area, making it a great spot to enjoy delicious food while taking in the beautiful waterscape.
One of the best little corners of Dundee! We got a table after 6 on a Friday night so this is definitely a good spot to go even on a busy night out. Right in the city centre, easy to find and great selection of choices. The hotdogs, pasta, grill and burgers? If you need protein this is a top notch spot to go. I had the chicken burger and my father had the Angus beef burger. They are also super accommodating! The owner/manager is so lovely and assisted us in allergies and intolérances every step of the way. They have gluten free buns, vegan ice-cream (be vary if you have a soy allergy though! As it is soy based). We got all the sauces I want. Quick service, and great atmosphere. Also great for spicy and non spice lovers as the sauces can be customised and chosen so your non-spicy tolerant doesn't qeep over dinner ! ❤️🌶️ 10/10 will visit again!?

Didn't have a great dinner here, which was unfortunate since it was our last night in Dundee. And this was after having had many great meals at other restaurants around town. The biggest issue was the service. Our initial server took our order and then completely disappeared. Our drink and food orders eventually arrived, late, but brought out by other servers. We never got the water we asked for until we asked another server for it. And then, once we finished our initial beer/wine/cocktails, we were never asked if we wanted more. It was strange. Not sure if our server took our order and then went on a break. But the service here was definitely lacking. From a food perspective, I got the Smoked Pork Ribs, which were ok, but didn't compare to barbecue you can get back in the states. My wife got the Grilled Chicken Fillet with jerk BBQ sauce and really liked that. Our kids got nachos, which they liked. We also ordered the prawn appetizer along with the fried plantains - both of those were very good. Overall, the food was good. Unfortunately, though, poor service can ruin a good meal.

We visited Gidi Grill this evening. 2 of our party chose burgers, one had steak and I had the half roast chicken. Every one of us cleared our plates. The rustic fries were so good, the sauces full of flavour and the meats cooked perfectly. Staff were so friendly. Def worth a visit!!!!

Ate here tonight and loved it so much we are planning our return. Got the plantain starters. The sauces were amazing. I got the Mac & cheese (phenomenal, creamy and spicy and lush). My partner got the chicken cooked on the josper grill. He is still raving about it. The staff were lovely and the place was busy and buzzy. Love it! 😊

Didnt have great expectations, thought it'd be another blan chain restaurant. Was so wrong! The food was absolutely awesome, best ribs I've had in a long time and the sauces were amazing too, herk bbq was a win, chilli coriander was really good too. The steak was great, well cooked and super tasty and the cocktails were class too. 10/10 would recommend

Mt husband and I never knew of the Gidi Grill in Dundee. We were in a venue and saw this restaurant when we came out. We went into the restaurant and right away, we loved the atmosphere and the friendly reception we received. We ordered our food (my husband had the hot dog and I had the burger) and it arrived at our table very quickly. Oh my word, it was delicious. Never tasted anything so nice,,,,ever!! We decided to have a dessert, sticky toffee pudding for my husband and chocolate chilli brownie for myself. We never usually have dessert but we are so so happy we did!! Everything was so delicious and atmosphere plus service was 100% too We loved it so much, we are going again today. Its only been 5 days since we went but we can't wait to return this afternoon If you haven't been here before I highly recommend it It's definitely 10 out of 10,,,,100%,,,,our No.1 place to go

The Bach is a trendy and laid-back bar bistro that pays homage to New Zealand, offering a global influence on its cafe fare. The name "Bach" reflects its Kiwi roots, meaning a holiday getaway home. Run by Kiwi owners, it offers an easygoing atmosphere with no-fuss mentality. The menu features craft coffee, rock star flavors, and diverse brunch options such as Eggs Benedict, kedgeree, corn fritters, and coconut-lime waffles.
Big up to Jonty for making our lunch date enjoyable. He provided great recommendations and the food was spectacular. The beer with the mango essence was a killer as well. Will come back again :)

The Bach is located in the city centre, but parking is a bit far—so be ready for a short walk. The interior is well-designed and inviting, with a dog-friendly setup and seating options that work for everyone. I tried one of their smoothies, which was really good. However, for an Indian palate, I found the food a bit bland. Also, if you ask for a dip or sauce, they charge an extra pound, which felt a bit much. That said, the overall experience was positive—especially for first-timers who enjoy exploring new cuisines. Portion sizes were decent too

I visited this spot on 3rd September and I have to say, I was really impressed. The vibe of the place is so chill and cozy. It’s the kind of atmosphere where you can just relax and enjoy your meal. The interior is also really well done, giving it an inviting feel. If you're ever looking for a place to unwind, this is definitely one to check out. I decided to try their Fried Vegan Breakfast and wow, the spread was amazing. Every element was fresh, flavorful, and really hit the spot. Just a heads-up, though, they do charge a little extra if you want bread with your breakfast, which was a bit of a surprise, but still worth it for the quality. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering something for everyone, but keep in mind the prices are a bit on the steeper side. Still, if you’re into exploring different cuisines and appreciate a cozy dining experience, it’s totally worth it. Overall, it was a really good experience and I will definitely be back to try more of their offerings. If you love discovering new places and enjoy tasty, well-prepared meals, this one’s a gem!

Came here for lunch, we were advised it would take about 30 minutes to get our food as it was pretty much full. We ordered the Cabbie burger and the French Toast, we also recieved a complimentary taster from the dinner menu that was pork (forgot the actual name but the man who served us it was very lovely and did fully explain the dish). All the food was delicious, no notes. We also had an iced chai latte and an iced mocha, also delicious and also no notes. The Bach is the best place in town in regards to having a variety of food for brunch, it is incredibly busy often for a reason!

Full disclosure before I start - I'm a Kiwi, so I'm a little biased about this wonderful gem. Dundee, you are so lucky to have this cafe. The menu was so varied that it was hard to decide. They take brunch seriously here, and that's reflected in their offerings. My korean fried chicken was delicious and served on a light cornmeal waffle. I loved the touch of pickled veges. Coffee's were great. On top of that, they've got a range of Kiwi treats on offer as well. The Bach ppl - if you're reading this, please know you're awesome. If there was one thing that jarred, it was the music choice. Nirvana at 10am on a Thursday wasn't quite the vibe we were expecting. Bring on Fat Freddys and crowded house (or, you know, a little more chill). ❤️

Beware, the menu changes late afternoon. I came with a menu item in mind only to have missed the option by 20 minutes! The evening menu provides a good range of choices. So my Morrocan Carrots and Sweet Potato Fries substituted to provide an interesting range of tastes. The Spirulina cold drink went well with the food. The capuccino is the best I've tried in Dundee... so far!

Giggling because google didn’t suggest this place. Now seeing the reviews, we are the ignorant and can confirm well worth a visit. We stumbled in tonight (Friday) and were so pleasantly surprised with the quality across the board. Kiwis did it right. Tomahawk was the star, everything else also delish. Atmosphere is a bit odd but you can actually hear each other and it all works. Very much enjoyed!!!

Pizza restaurant
Nestled on Perth Road, Don Michele Italian Restaurant is a charming family-run establishment that captures the essence of authentic Italian dining. With its contemporary decor featuring striped wallpaper and plush high-back leather seats, it creates a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for any occasion. The menu boasts an array of delectable options, from classic pizzas to mouthwatering pastas and starters like arancini and bruschetta.
Popped in here for a lunch with family and thoroughly enjoyed the true Italian experience. We ordered from the lunch menu where there was three different prices depending on the number of courses you had . The prices well reflected the quality of food we received. I think I am safe in saying this was the best Italian pizza I have ever had out with Italy. The deserts were also amazing. They even gave me a taste of their tiramisu which is to die for. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming and the staff were very attentive. Even the manager / owner gave us some quality time. A real Italian family connection made for an amazing experience. This is a must visit place to go for a real Italian experience.

We had a booked table and I was a wee bit P'd off that we had to stand in the doorway (holding the door open) waiting for about 10 minutes while people in front of us also waited to be seated. Once seated, the staff were amazing. Our order was taken, drinks arrived promptly. The food was absolutely delicious! My hubby asked if he could have a bit of bread to mop up the sauce - no problem, it arrived in no time, and no extra charge. Our prosecco was perfectly chilled, well presented and complimented the food beautifully. If I could suggest improvements, those would be 1) to have a proper waiting area, 2) have somewhere to hang customer coats /jackets, 3) dim the lights a bit and add soft furnishings to absorb chatter noise and put candles (even battery operated ones,) to really elevate the ambience . In my opinion this is a great restaurant that, with small changes, has the potential to be outstanding Ps...the ladies loo was immaculate ❤️
Donna — Google review
A very average pizza for an above average price. The dough was dry and stodgy, like a frozen pizza, and the sauce had no flavour. The toppings were fresh and the cheese was generous, but on top of the heavy and chewy base it was all a bit much. It wasn't the standard you'd hope for from an Italian restaurant - much more like a takeaway pizza. Also, it came with a steak knife instead of a pizza wheel, which dragged the cheese and toppings all over the place while I was cutting it! I would have gone for the pasta instead, but the two veggie options (pesto pasta or vegetables in tomato sauce) were both a bit unexciting. The restaurant itself has a good atmosphere but it's very busy. The staff we met were very friendly and knowledgeable, but unfortunately there seemed to be too many tables for them to handle. We made a booking, arrived shortly after our booking time, and still had to wait ten minutes for our table to be made up. It's a shame because I wanted to enjoy this place more than I did! But with the dry dough, tightly packed tables, delayed service, no pizza wheel, and the poor/poorly labelled vaggie options on the menu, there were lots of mildly annoying things that all piled up to make the whole dinner feel disappointing

First visit to their new location in the town. Friendly welcome from young server, who took us to our table. Restaurant is bright and spacious, seated and given menus, ordered a bottle of white wine while we looked at menu.. A good selection of starters, pasta, meat/chicken dishes, pizzas, and desserts to choose from. We ordered Brusscheta and Calamari fritti to share, and the Bruschetta was delicious full of flavour. Then a Penne Soprano and a Steak Pasta with garlic bread and cheese. My penne pasta was with chicken, bacon, chorizo, chilli tomato and cream, the steak pasta was spaghetti with steak and a pepper sauce, both dishes were delicious, freshly prepared, well presented and very filling, We thoroughly njoyed our visit, and our food the serving staff were luvly, will definitely return and highly recommend a visit here. Well done to owner Paddi and his team. :) :)

More small plates, please!!! The starters are great! The mains...less so. We went on a Monday, and it was bustling! I liked the cosy vibe. Service wasn't perfect, but I got the feeling that they cared. Which is all I need. Definitely room for improvement. I believe that specials and small plates will be the success of this restraunt. There were so many couples around us that I think this needs to be their focus. Make every night valentines Day! Sharing small italian plates. And perhaps more family style mains? We had prosecco because it was the same price as the wine and I was so happy! This could be a regular date night spot... It just needs to focus more on the sharing. Believe me, food envy is not fun when you're paying so much for a main course. It all but disappears when you are sharing.

We were there for a birthday meal and our first visit to the restaurants new location was superb. Greated to a warm welcome and given a lovely table to sit at. Served a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio while our starters were prepared. The calamari was very good, and the bruschetta was outstanding. Then, the spicey penna soprano & the steak pasta with pepper sauce was amazing. By this post, you realise we had a great meal. We will be back. LAST YEARS REVIEW. Great meal last night with the Scottish Ducati Club at Don Michele's. 12 folk well fed. Warm welcome and great service. Food was superb. Highly recommended.

We visited Don Michele for the first time on a recent Saturday. It was a very busy evening, with all tables seemingly filled, including one very large group. The table layout was a little cramped, however this may have been due to accommodating the larger group. In spite of how busy it was, we were seated quickly and service was also surprisingly fast for all courses. Our meal was fantastic, and the arancini really stood out to us. Staff were very friendly, and we'll definitely be back soon to try some different dishes!

The Flame Tree Cafe is a popular and bustling eatery located in the heart of Dundee, offering a variety of breakfast and lunch options such as sandwiches, sweet treats, and coffee. While not entirely vegan, the cafe has responded to customer demand by gradually increasing its selection of vegan menu items over time.
We were early for an afternoon music event at Caird Hall and found this little cafe which we chose because it was close and had excellent reviews. The menu has plenty of great choices and the prices very reasonable. It was early afternoon, the place was busy but we were able to get a table by the window. My wife declared that her smashed avocado toasty was the best she’d had anywhere and my tuna mayo sandwich was excellent. The bread tasty and very fresh. The coffee was really good too. Bear in mind it closes at 3pm. Highly recommended and we’ll be back next time we are in Dundee.

Brilliant range for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options! Options for alternative milks for a multitude of different drinks (milkshakes, coffees etc etc) Most of the sandwiches can be done with gluten free bread and there's an entire section of the menu dedicated to vegan options. Today I stopped by with my mother and got a beetroot ginger latte with soy milk which was LOVELY ! I also got a falafel, hummus, rocket and tomato sandwich on gluten free bread, and a side of the soup of the day (pea and mint). Genuinely a super tasty sandwich and my mother enjoyed her vegan cheese toastie (gf bread). There are also multiple options for vegan/gf baking at the front counter. The waiters are very nice also!

Great pub and our brunch was fantastic. Service was a little slow but the staff were very friendly and I suspect it was just a bit short staffed and perhaps they didn’t expect quite so many people that day as Dundee was very quiet, even for half term. That might just be normal as I am from Surrey everywhere is packed over half term. Anyway well worth eating here and dog friendly too so 5* from us!

Lovely bar and great to have some background music. Would have loved to have given 5 stars but the service let us down. First waitress and manager were really helpful, however, the chilli dishes came out lukewarm and then was covered in cream. Nice that they cooked from scratch again but a quick blast in the micro would have sufficed. Third time lucky and the food was lovely. Shame it came out when everyone else had finished their food. Mix up about bill and rushed to finish up when I was still eating. Offered more drinks but was advised wed have to drink them quickly and leave. Complained to manager who was apologetic and embarrassed and assured is that it wasn't normal. Deducted my food from bill and offered us a free round of drinks if we return.

Parlour is a renowned restaurant in Dundee, established in 2013 and known for its changing seasonal menu. The restaurant offers traditional and experimental dishes with an extensive wine list. Head chef Alan Murchison brings classic French cuisine to the table, featuring dishes like snails with garlic butter and tarragon toast. Additionally, Parlour's sister restaurant, Kitchen 1877, is located nearby. This neighborhood cafe serves modern breakfast and lunch options along with occasional pop-up evening events.
Wonderful wee place! Staff are super friendly and accommodating, had a lovely chat with one of the waitresses when my food was served. I had the biscoff bun (which was scrumptious) and a pot of tea. So many good cakes to choose from, and all a generous size! My friend had the falafel wrap, again a generous portion size and she said it was delicious. A great variety of wraps, sausage rolls, tortillas, soups, cakes and pastries to choose from. One of my new favourite places! It can be quite busy here so try and time your arrival right, but you shouldn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table.

Ive just had one of the most confusing cafe trips of my life. As soon as we arrived, with a pram, another door had to be opened, for some reason this involved a 5ft 3 staff member, on a stepladder with a Butter knife. We ordered banana bread and some bacon bagels (apparently they had no rolls.) I know the banana bread is fresh and, given how long it took to arrive, I can only assume they started baking it the moment we asked for it. As for the rest of it, the bacon was so raw, I wouldn't be surprised if the pig's family were still in mourning, it was paired with a bagel so raw and untoasted, it may well have been used as a blunt weapon to finish off the pig. Went in for breakfast with my partner and baby and had an awful experience. The cafe was visibly dirty and when my coffee came out had a lipstick stain on the cup. When our banana bread came eventually came out (and resembled the texture of builders sand) we were given it on one plate with the explanation 'we don't have that many plates so you have to share'... our bacon bagels came 20 mins later and weren't even toasted and the bacon was raw! Don't go!

Popped in for a quick coffee and toastie. Service quick and friendly staff. Unfortunately ? owner had a very loud phone call in the main services area arranging for mouse traps to be delivered later that day! This did ruin the experience which was a shame

Draffens is a popular yet hidden gem located inside Couttie's Wynd in Dundee. The pub's name pays homage to the Draffens department store that once stood there for over 150 years. Its interior features a vintage atmosphere with burgundy and dark green colors, exposed brick walls, and patterned carpets. This prohibition-style bar offers an experience reminiscent of the 1920s, complete with live jazz music and a themed cocktail menu.
The atmosphere is absolutely lovely and takes you back in time. Beautiful elegant decor. The drink menu is wide and has a selection of some very interesting cocktails and not just your usual ones. Really enjoyed the music selection too as it’s quite jazzy and has a vintage feel.

Great find after you eventually find the door to get in , a wide range of cocktails served by a knowledgable and friendly staff in a dark atmospheric cellar , we had 2 cocktails each and just enjoyed the vibe

We went out for some food Friday night, we stopped by the secret bar for a drink before moving on. Only cocktails on the drinks menu, very nice though. It was pretty dead when we went in but it was an enjoyable drink.

Went to Draffens and the prohibition themed bar was so well done and such an amazing environment. The menu was very interesting and when I was stuck for what to order the server recommended a cocktail on the menu that I would have never ordered of my own volition but boy am I glad I got it. It had curry syrup and pickle in it but you wouldn't know, it was the perfect blend of sophistication with a kick. Will definitely be back.

Me and my partner finally had a rare night off from the baby and decided to check out this bar in Dundee. On arrival, I was genuinely blown away — the place is stunning. It’s tucked away, full of character, and felt like a proper hidden gem. I was honestly excited to be there. The night started off strong. The first bartender was excellent — friendly, professional, made a great martini, and gave us the kind of welcome you expect from a quality establishment. Then the shift changed. And that’s where the night went downhill — fast. The next guy behind the bar was an absolute disgrace. Within minutes of speaking to us, he started making crude, unnecessary comments about London (where I’m from) and mocking everything about the culture. It was relentless, personal, and downright disgusting. My partner is Scottish — so this wasn’t a back-and-forth banter situation. It was straight-up targeted abuse, full of arrogance and venom. And somehow, he thought it was acceptable to ask for a tip after all that? It was actually jaw-dropping how someone working in hospitality could speak to customers like that. If this was anywhere else, he would’ve been sacked on the spot. It was toxic, hostile, and completely unprovoked. I left feeling humiliated and angry. What was supposed to be a relaxing night turned into a complete disaster, thanks to one repulsive, ignorant staff member who should not be anywhere near the front line of a service business. I’ll be sharing this experience widely — and I hope whoever runs this place seriously reconsiders who they let represent their name. Because if this guy’s attitude is what you stand for, you’ve just lost more than a customer — you’ve trashed your own reputation. My response to your reply Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but I have to say I’m quite disappointed by the way my feedback has been received. I wasn’t expecting a defensive reply I was hoping for a bit of reflection and understanding. To clarify, the bartender who took over from the first (who was excellent, by the way) very clearly said, “I dislike anything south — London is toxic, and the people there are cold and heartless.” That wasn’t a misinterpretation, and both my partner and I heard it. We even tried to steer the conversation elsewhere, but he continued, making further remarks about the East End. Whether those were personal views or an attempt at humour, they were completely inappropriate especially considering he had no idea where we’re from. As someone who is from London, it felt like a direct insult. Even if no offence was intended, it was offensive nonetheless. That kind of comment simply doesn’t belong in a customer-facing setting. I understand that people see things differently, but to deny it happened or suggest it was misunderstood feels dismissive. I gave you honest feedback in good faith. All I really wanted was acknowledgement that, regardless of intent, the experience left a negative impression on an otherwise lovely evening.

Cool, hidden spot in Dundee that our daughter knew about. I had the Guv'nor, which was good. Has Mezcal, but isn't too smokey. My wife and daughter liked their drinks - can't remember those offhand. Good spot for unique, craft cocktails.

One of my favourite bars in Dundee, an amazing selection of rums and great cocktails. Staff are all brilliant and can always reccomend something good to try.
Dylan B — Google review
If you didn't know it was there you'd walk right past it (no signage)! I'm glad I did go in though, because this is a great wee pub, with an emphasis on 'wee' as it's not much bigger than my living room. But boy, does it pack a lot of fun and pizzazz into its space. Cuban influenced and with latino background music, the two barmen, in themed attire, serving up all the mojitoes you can handle (other cocktails and drinks are available). Clearly a favourite with the locals who, like me, enjoyed the sway of the atmosphere. It's always the sign of a good pub when the staff remember you from the night before and serve you up your drink of preference before you give the order. This should definitely be on your 'goto' list if you like pubs with character - just be prepared to stand(!)

Forgans is a cozy café in the picturesque town of Broughty Ferry, which serves delicious local Scottish dishes in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The rustic décor is charming, and the extensive drinks menu has something for everyone.
I absolutely loved this beautiful restaurant the layout the front of house NELL was an absolute professional very friendly accommodating and then allowed me to take a little tour , Broughty Ferry does not have a lot of class restaurants I'd love to say the food was what I wished for "Scotland on a plate" the potato has to be the 1 item that you would expect to be cooked but sadly cold and undercooked forces me to not be able to speak so highly of food that is cooked in an area like scotland should ooze perfection and flavour but sadly not my salmon was tough the her on top was wrinkled and the broccoli was completely flat so I'm afraid I won't recommend anyone eating there at present unless they allow me to teach the chef to cook. Food was not tasty, too many oily made in deep frier cabbage, guess it was kale one. Starter was too expensive for 160g tasty salmon, oat crackers and lemon margarine spread. Pure variety of juices. Although, tomato one in glass bottle was nice, but again price for 200g. Were sitting outdoors. Bench was broken, quite dirty, as table wevl've chosen had empty glasses. Staff was friendly, but it was quite weird when staff member swept the glas from the floor and served us with drinks. Cocktails were nice and for normal price meaning usual price as everywhere. No steak availability, took fish. Sea bass and salmon. Were not bad, but too oily. Partner asked to serve coffee with soup and tomato juice with main meal, but coffee was with delay and spilled. By the way, soup was good 👍 Maybe service and tables inside were better, although service should be excellent at any place. Even didn't want to check the bathroom, as it could say more than enough about the place. Just wanted to keep my impression on positive vibes. But wouldn't go back for sure.

Service was impeccable. Imogen was attentive without being intrusive, knew the menus well and advised accordingly , from size of portions to what type of olive was used in a dish. Was also able to tell us about the building and what events the restaurant held. Forgan's can easily be missed by the casual visitor to Broughty Ferry... but please try not to. Walking along a side street near the railway station the entrance doesn't call out to you. If anything it's low key appearance can be deceptive even with a quick glance down the passageway. However, the menu to the side entices with a few traditional Scottish dishes. And it's a bit like the Tardis opening up into a succession of spaces when you walk in. Unless you're ravenous and in for a full and satisfying meal I recommend a couple of the tasty introductions to Scotland in the smaller bites/apertiser sections of the menu. The Haggis bon bons and Cullen Skink may not sound that enticing to the uninitiated, but they are a very satisfying combination of contrasting meat and fish tastes. The range of alcohol drinks looked interesting but Im on a medical alcohol free sojourn, but the ginger beer and capuccino both complemented the meal very well.

Came here recently for a Sunday lunch but unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. We ordered the Sunday roast, which was bland, uninspiring and a bit stingy in terms of portion size. It didn't match the description at all and cost £23-25. The waitress didn't ask how we'd like the beef cooked and it came out rare. There was no sign or mention of "unlimited Yorkshire puddings", as advertised on the menu. Not sure how that would work really when they don't give you separate gravy for the roasts? I also asked for something else initially and was told it wasn't available. Why not warn guests at the start when handing out menus? They also didn't ask about allergies, which is standard practice these days. Additionally the atmosphere was quite dull for a Sunday afternoon, with plenty of available seats. I suppose that should have been a sign! To be fair, the manager did come out to ask about the feedback and apologised but we didn't have time to wait for alternative food to come out. The only positives I can add is that it's a nice venue, aesthetic wise, and the staff were quite friendly and polite. I think someone needs to have a check in with the chef(s) and reevaluate the food on offer. Not good enough for the price.

Staff were friendly, the place was perfectly kitted out as a station theme & the food was great! No pictures of the food because we were so excited by the smells that when it came we couldn't resist gobbling it all up! 😍 We all had a Bacon, Tattie Scone & Black Pudding Roll! 😋

Mid-week lunch. Restaurant and outsideseating area was fairlybusy. After seating it took around 20minutes to have our order taken. This was followed by a long wait before we actually received our meal. The fish platter was rather underwhelming in both taste, quantity and presentation. The flat iron steak baguette was disappointing. The steak was slightly under cooked, fatty, and tough to cut - no steak knives available. The chips had been replaced by fried potato chunks. After finishing our mains our empty plates remained before us for a long time, even after we had attracted the attention of a server that we were finished. Coffee ordered, coffee did not come. We ended up chasing it up at the counter, where there was piles of dirty crockery waiting ... the excuse for the delay in our receiving our coffee. This was indeed a lunch to forget. We will not be returning.

I stopped in for a coffee and breakfast. The staff were friendly, seating me right away and taking my order when I was ready. The Americano and full breakfast both hit the spot, setting me up for the day! I enjoyed a (slow) walk back along the river front afterwards, where the water was calm like glass. Look forward to another visit soon!

View is good. The Chef forgot to add spinach to a dish described as pollock with chickpeas and spinach. Or may be one sliver of spinach qualified for the description, butbto me it was even smaller than a sliver one would add as garnish ! Gluten free carrot cake just like the ones found most places in Scotland, but I would go again in good weather for the view and the nearby river walk.

The location and ambience were very good. Lovely views and interesting layout and decor. Staff were generally friendly and it was busy but we waited a bit longer for attention than I would have expected. Fish was perfectly cooked and a good portion. We received potato slices rather than chips (I may have missed this on the menu but they were not as good as traditional chips). We also asked if soft drinks were draft and were told all were canned, which surprised us when we had to send them back for being flat. Not something you often get with canned drinks. Overall - quite good and we will probably return but a couple of little things that could help reach 4 or 5 stars.

Had lunch here today and was really impressed with the quality of service and food. Service was as expected with such a volume of customers on a busy lunch service so be patient and the wait will be worthwhile. Lovely haddock fish cakes, a Pastrami NY style bloomer sandwich and a portion of hand cut chips were all generous portions and cooked to perfection. Cakes looked excellent too but didn’t have room after our mains. Will definitely be back.

Verdant Works Museum in Dundee is a popular tourist attraction that offers an immersive experience into the city's industrial textile heritage. Housed in a restored mill, the museum showcases interactive displays and shares the stories of 19th and 20th century jute production. Visitors can step back in time to understand the lives of up to 50,000 mill workers who played a crucial role in Dundee's economy.
Really enjoyed a look around this museum. It’s a very large place with a number of different areas in the building to walk through to learn about the history of the jute trade. There’s an on site cafeteria where the staff were very helpful. Free car park as well, you have to register your car number plate on the screen in the cafeteria.

Very well presented history of Jute industry, not over whelming and so some good animated displays Volunteers very helpful. Bolton and Watt engine runs from time to time, although driven by electric motor. Mostly accesible with small mobility scooter, although given the age cobbles are to expected. Very pleasant cafe. 20 minute walk to Vand A or Discovery centre.

Greeted with an informative welcome from a volunteer explaining the history of the building and why Verdant was the chosen name (sited on what was previously green fields). This museum was well laid out, easy to navigate, and gave great insights into the jute making history of India & Dundee. The influence of the former whaling industry was an eye opener. This was also a good insight to the social history of Dundee. A couple of hours very well spent.

I spent a very enjoyable couple of hours in the museum, and in truth it could have easily been longer. The exhibition is both fascinating and shocking at the same time when you learn about the life and hardships in the jute industry. Average life expectancy for men working in the jute industry was just 33 years. Well laid out spacious exhibition, lovely cafe for refreshments and light bites, and friendly staff to round off the visit. Very clean and well equipped toilets. A highly recommended opportunity to learn about the jute industry and its role in the history of Dundee.

Very good museum! A gentleman in a period costume started our tour in the first room, the followed by a good demonstrations by a former mill worker and a volunteer guide. Amazing to see the old machines still working! I would have bought some jute souvenirs (rather than bags) if there were any! The cafe was really nice, too! The tickets let you have an all-year entry!
N N — Google review
Fantastically presented museum with enjoyable exhibits and a well thought out range of information. The museum has a good balance of exploring the manufacturing processes involved in Jute products, with the evolution of the industry and the lives of those who worked in it. They do a very good job of highlighting the impact of this industry in both Dundee and in India where Jute originates. A very tasteful exploration of both cultures. There are many interactive elements to the museum too, which make it a really approachable and fun place for all ages. Ticket is also valid for a full year which is nice.

A great place to visit if you're in Dundee. We bought a joint ticket with Discovery Point access, which made it good value too. It's a good couple of hours to get round, and it's really interesting learning about the rise and fall of their jute industry. Dundee you should be proud to be hosting this very talented chef. He has recently taken over from the previous owner and I would obviously recommend you support him so you don’t lose him. The food was superb, not fast, but nevertheless delicious. The ingredients were fresh as one expects with good Italian. The menu is interesting and, sensibly for a small kitchen, does not contain a huge list of dishes meaning that those that are available are done well. The service was great and we really liked the background music. It is a small place and we found it difficult to book a table but please persevere as it is definitely worth it.

Possibly the best Italian restaurant in the galaxy. The food here is always beyond brilliant, and the service is good. Apparently there is a better restaurant in the Canis Major dwarf galaxy, which is only 25,000 light years away, but to be honest, with the cost of fuel and the traffic, it's not worth the hassle of trying to get there. So go to Piccolo in Dundee. The best Italian restaurant in the Milky Way.

A great place to have a quiet and romantic meal , atmosphere was set perfectly for that as the place was set up beautiful and lit by mostly candles. When I was there with 3 other friends they only had the set dinner options which ranged from £31 for 2 courses and £39 for 3 courses. The menu had quite a variety of starters , mains and desserts to choose from as well. It was certainly one of the pricier set dinners I had in Dundee but the food did not disappoint, ingredients were fresh and the pasta was made to perfection.

Very nice, reasonable bottle of house red for £25. I couldn't manage 2 courses...no problem, I took one course from their Specials. And it was divine. Whoever does the cooking obviously knows what they are doing. We had a lovely meal at Porters restaurant. The service was fantastic, the food was really, really good and the place had a lovely atmosphere. The only negative thing was the place was a little warm but we were there on quite a warm day. I'm just going to say it again. The food was excellent. I would totally recommend the Steak and ale pie and the baked macaroni. And I would love to go back next time I'm in Dundee.

I think it is a place with potential but there were a few things that made me rate it badly. The first thing I didn't like was the food. I ordered a Caesar's salad which by default cannot be bad. However the chicken had a terrible smell. So terrible that I put it aside and after eating fast I asked the waitress to take my plate because it was really smelly. I told that my chicken was smelly and what I got as an answer was something like it is normal because of the plastic wrap. 15 years as a butcher I have seen this smell only to chicken that has gone bad. In my opinion this chicken shouldn't have been served in the first place. One more thing that was not nice is that no one apologized for this situation which as a professional you should do. The drinks were good but besides that I would say that this place needs a lot of work to become as the reviews suggest it is.

We went for a family birthday meal as a party of 13. They asked for a £10 deposit per person and asked for our orders before hand. This allowed them to provide excellent service and they even accommodated those that wanted a last minute pudding on the night! Super friendly staff, really approachable and attentive. Every single person was delighted with their meals and we all said it was the tastiest meals we’ve had. Don’t feel like you need to go with your “safe” meal choice because they’re amazing at absolutely everything on their menu! We all had an amazing night and will defo be back. Thank you!!

Most of our food was quite good, but the £34 rib eye steak was chewy. I ordered med-rare and I'd love to tell you it was cooked properly but I couldn't cut through it to tell you. I didn't eat it and the manager did take it off the bill which was good of them. If you are going for the steak, make sure someone else is paying.

The food was amazing, very tasty, the staff were very friendly and helpful, I will definitely be back

The food was generally nice, but we found the portions of the starters to be extremely small, which was a bit disappointing. One unexpected surprise was the complete absence of coriander in any of the dishes — even the Pad Thai — which felt unusual for a Thai restaurant. We had to specifically request some to be brought to the table. That said, the service was friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated. With a few small improvements, this place could be much better.

Fantastic Thai restaurant in Dundee city centre very close to the V&A and the railway station. Authentic Thai cuisine cooked by owner Ian’s Thai wife and served by Ian’s Thai father-in-law. Amazing lunch time special of a starter and mains course for only £14.95. What’s not to like?

We went for the lunch menu, great price and the food comes out very fast, hot & fresh. Keen to go back and try to evening menu which is extensive to say the least. Would definitely return.

Out and about in Dundee, we stopped at Rama for lunch. Parking can be found outside the restaurant and in adjoining streets. Disabled parking available close by if you can get a space. Easy to access the restaurant. Staff were welcoming and friendly. A good choice as they have a lunch time menu at a good price. Good food and a nice lunch.

I've never been to Thailand, so I can't vouch for authenticity, but I can say that the food is delicious, the service is terrific, and the decor is great. Prices are pretty good, too

A quite pleasant restaurant. Quick service and friendly staff, especially the manager, who knew how to create a great atmosphere. The dishes were very tasty; we ordered Tom Kha soup, fried beef, and duck. We also had wonderful rice—sticky and jasmine. Everything was served on beautiful tableware. The tables could use a refresh—it's clear the restaurant is very busy.

Rishi's Indian Aroma, located in Dundee, is a contemporary restaurant that offers a delightful blend of South Indian flavors. The menu features an array of traditional dishes such as curries, clay oven mains, and dosas. The restaurant takes pride in its unique specialties like the Rishi's Special Biriyani and Chilli Paneer. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, it's an ideal place for a romantic dining experience.
I went here for lunch with a friend and we were both thoroughly impressed. The staff were very friendly, the food tasty, and the portion larger than we thought it would be. A word of caution, though. Things are prepared fresh, so don't expect to go in for a quick lunch. This was not a problem for us and we enjoyed the fact it wasn't rushed. I will definitely be back. For the starter I had the paani puri (crunchy balls filled with salad and a sauce to pour over) and my friend went for the haggis pakora. For the main, I can't remember what it was called, but it was the house special. To be honest, it was "just" good. My friend had the lamb roghan josh, which she loved. And for dessert we both went for the dessert sampler, which we both loved. The menu available on their website (on 12/9/24) doesn't reflect what is currently available. There are quite a few more options on the current menu.

I had such a wonderful experience at this Indian restaurant! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I tried their biryani and kebabs, and both dishes were delicious! The staff was friendly and helped us pick the perfect dishes. Plus, the seating was so comfy that we could really relax and enjoy our meal.

We had lunch from here, the 5 feet dosa is really good better than we expected. garlic naan and Kadai Chicken and Chilli chicken etc was really good. Indian tea was carefully made and very good so I ordered second set for us. The restaurant was clean and got a good interior too. Good job team, keep it up.

Absolutely brilliant place that welcomed us and our 5 year old for our evening meal. Gluten free menu second to none. A large cocktail and mocktail selection. Excellent staff. Absolutely recommend 100%

We Had a great meal here for lunch on the weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a good variety of cocktails. The food was great, though it was a bit annoying that only two turkey options were left on the menu. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Very busy venue on Saturday night so reservation definitely required. We sat upstairs and found the service from staff to be friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Starters (risotto and bread with oils) and main meals (duck and steak pie) were very tasty with decent sized portions and well cooked al dente vegetables. The puddings unfortunately were less impressive, apple and raspberry crumble and Affogato both coming with fairly cheap, tasteless vanilla ice cream; if this had used a creamier type it'd have made a lot of difference. Great selection of drinks available at the bar so had chance to test some whisky that don't often see on menus. The cocktail menu was good, my wife really enjoyed with the Monkey Gone Nuts seasonal special.

Very nice usually anyway but this was a special Tapas & wine evening with a guest chef and coordinating wine & food. Every course was explained and so was the accompanying wine. Excellent food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere. We look forward to their next adventure.

Slightly disappointed with the menu, just feel it's not quite as good as it used to be. That said I had the beef burger and my wife had the Halloumi burger which were both excellent. Definitely go back as it's a great atmosphere and a cracking wee place. Service can't be faulted either.

Dundee Science Centre is a modern and engaging hub that offers entertaining and educational multimedia experiences, live shows, and hands-on interactive exhibits. It is considered one of the best museums in Dundee, Scotland, with numerous exhibition halls showcasing unique scientific displays. Visitors can explore a wide collection of science and technology exhibits covering topics such as space, energy, the Earth, and the human body.
Amazing value for money! £12.50 for 1 adult, 1 child. We arrived at 9.45, and the centre was already open (opens at 10am) I was able to purchase tickets and wait for the exhibits to open. Toilets and shop. Cafe that is reasonably priced. All the exhibits are hands-on, and everyone was sharing pleasantly. All staff were friendly and helpful. By lunchtime, it was very busy, so I'd suggest going when it opens for the best experience.

A great day out. The kids love it, and there is more than enough to interest adults as well. They have all sorts of medical curiosities upstairs, including interactive digital games. There's a water feature and loads of physical games to play Downstairs. I highly recommend the free mini science shows they put on -- the one we saw had fire and electricity etc. and the crowd loved it. Staff are super friendly in general. There's so much to do that you can't do it all in the 2.5 hour block; you'll want to come back.

Went to the Science Centre in Dundee as me and my girlfriend were looking for something to do and realised this was one of the places we haven’t been to yet. I’ve posted a couple of pictures from our visit but my recommendation is to check it out. You get allotted 2.5 hours time inside (which you think won’t be enough), however, there is plenty of stuff to interact with, read and learn. There is also a little show twice a day from what we gathered. There is 2 floors. Downstairs definitely more kid friendly. Upstairs is a bit more in depth and to do with medical. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Amazing visit.

On top of that, the entry price is reasonable, making it excellent value for families.

Good service food arrived promptly, lively decor. Milkshake was delicious, sandwich made from fresh baguette and grilled bacon. The salad sauce wasn't freshly made, which affected the taste. Tea was great my only complaint is that the oat milk was off.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here this afternoon. Cakes are yummy. But the scones are so good, and come with loads of cream, I hate when places are stingy with the cream. The scones were freshly baked as well, so many places reheat their scones and you can tell. Would've given 5 stars but the drinks service was very slow and there was only one of each type of cake - I like to sample everything so we had to cut everything in half - a minor thing I guess. The tea plates and cups are really pretty too!

Ciao Sorrento is a charming Italian restaurant located in Dundee, United Kingdom. The restaurant offers a cozy and welcoming ambiance, making it a hidden gem for authentic Italian dining. Known for its classic starters, pastas, pizzas, and entrées, Ciao Sorrento provides an unforgettable culinary experience. The menu features homemade pasta, pizza, risotto, slow-cooked ribs, gourmet burgers, and delectable desserts.
This place is absolutely wonderful. It’s down to earth and unpretentious, classic Italian food. I find that Italian restaurants often overcompensate by adding lots of ingredients and giving you massive portions, but Ciao Sorrento was nothing like that. The food was absolutely stunning, and was basic but delicious, with portions that were reasonable. They also did a litre of house wine for just under £20, which was really good. The garlic bread with mozzarella was also fantastic. I found the coffees to be very nice, and the tiramisu was delicious as well. With the receipt they also gave us a small Italian biscuit, which was a nice touch. The waiter was very friendly, and the whole place has a family feel. They even managed to get us in 45 minutes before our reservation, which was really good. It’s small inside, but it didn’t feel crowded. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, it made for a truly fantastic night!

First visit in a long time. Friendly welcome from staff, had booked our table, but a couple of walk ins during our visit, but booking advisable. Ordered calamari fritti and deep fried breadcrumbed mushrooms with mozzarella to share, starters were tasty and freshly made. Carafe of white wine in a luvly jug. Mains, Penne Bersagllera and Pasta Al Ferne (house speciality) first time having the house speciality as I always have their Lasagne , but so glad I went for a change, it was Delicious so tasty and full of flavour will definitely have again, also shared garlic bread, sorry no photos too busy enjoying our mains, finished off with an Irish coffee and a cappuccino. This is a great family run, quant wee restaurant, great atmosphere and food, All the staff were luvly, chatty and friendly, all under the watchful eye of the luvly owner Tommaso , won't be so long again till our next visit. We went mid week, it was fairly busy, a couple of tables were still available but we felt very rushed. We hadn't even paid the bill and they were clearing our table. Two of our party felt their pizzas were rather bland, my bolognese was OK. We were looking forward to catching up in a relaxed atmosphere....didn't quite get that. Won't be back. Sooo disappointed.
Irene D — Google review
The food was good, but when we had finished our meal, the staff were completely focused on clearing tables and setting up for the next day. We had to wait ages for the bill to arrive. Such a shame as with a bit more focus on the customer, this very traditional Italian could be amazing. Maybe they don't really need recommendations as they are trading on past glories?

Lovely looking comfortable pub with beautiful stained glass windows and some interesting pictures on the wall right in the heart of Broughty Ferry. Friendly staff. Good to be able to have a choice of a couple of cask ales. Named after the sadly demolished Victorian arch that used to be in Dundee. There's supposed to be a fragment of it on display but neither of the staff had ever heard of it.

Had a great visit here with my father and little brother. It's a smaller/cosy bar with some great food. My dad had the curry which he said was delicious, I had the cheese platter with chips myself which was very good and also a plus coming from the cheesery. The man who served us, who I believe was called Jamie was very polite and also good with my little brother. Also had good service from the lady who was working, but I didn't catch her name. Will happily return on another day out.

Had a drink on Sunday afternoon. The barman was the rudest I have ever met. (Beard and slick hair) Obnoxious, condescending, rude. At no time to did he speak to us in anything less than the most horrible manner. While serving us he continued to speak to his mates at the bar, did not say please, thank you or even acknowledge we were the. Didn’t even tell us what the cost of the round was just stuck the card machine at me. Horrible horrible man!!

Browsing around the almost Parisian feel of 'The Ferry' (as it's widely known)on the sunniest day this year so far, my lady and I walked into The Royal Arch at the northern end of Gray Street ... a well kept and obviously well-beloved establishment. First time for me ... but the wife, of course, had three times previously with three different members of her band of cronies, graced this fine pub with her custom and favour.  We had fish, prawns, salad, chips, bread, bannocks and coke that were as good as the best of any pub ... but turned out even better for the rapid first-class manner by which they were served.  The place was spotless and interestingly decorated with more than a nod to Art Deco and The Tay Estuary at the southern end of town. The joint was busy but capably handled by a pair of friendly astute young girls who ably constucted our path through post-lockdown pub attendance with serious aplomb.  All in all, a great success.  It's well refreshing to note that, at least in Royal Arch Land, value for money, creditable cheer, civility and the publican's traditional warm welcome are still around in these truly unconventional times.

We came and watched the six nations, Sexton's final match for Ireland! 🇮🇪 It was a really nice atmosphere and the staff were fun and friendly. We were led to believe by the dundee market manny that they had Cairn o' Mohr cider on tap..sadly they only have bottles. It's still good, though. The food menu is a bit 'meh'. Despite hungry tums, we were not persuaded by the usual fried food fare. 😑 It's costly and would no doubt leave us feeling uncomfortably dissatisfied.

TL;DR: Stick to their drinks and standard menu. Visited here for a meal with 8 people booked two weeks in advance for their festive menu. We were told that we would have two separate tables, which we were fine with. On the day we received a call advising us we could now have one table which we were very happy with. Upon arriving our single table was a booth meant for 4-6 people. There additionally was a very large party of approximately 15-20 people sitting beside us on the bottom floor that were incredibly disruptive and we were unable to hear our own conversations. It took 25 minutes for a drinks order to be taken. An additional 15 for it to be delivered. After which our food order was taken (starters followed by mains) in which the starters took over an hour to be delivered. The food was very bland and of poor quality. The main course arrived over an hour and a half later which was completely inedible, cold, wrongly advertised and tasted horrific and processed. We had no one check up on us and had to go to the bar ourselves to order drinks and complain. The supervisor was very lovely and understanding and compensated us for the issue. Unfortunately this has left us with a sullen experience. The drinks are well presented and flavourful and their standard menu is better than what we received.

Located on the corner of West Port, The West House has recently undergone a refurbishment and now boasts a new menu to complement its fresh look. From breakfast to dinner, this eatery offers an array of options including pastas, pizzas, sharing platters, and delectable desserts. With high table seating as well as regular tables, it welcomes everyone with its relaxed vibe. Students often frequent this spot due to its diverse and affordable menu that includes hearty burgers, fresh salads, and tasty wraps.
Amazing food & drink, attentive staff topped off with a lovely atmosphere. This wee gem of a cafe come restaurant is a must visit if you are staying in Dundee. 😍 Booking highly recommended as there were a few turned away while we were there. We were staying at the Central Travelodge and looking for breakfast. It is a little expensive but very much worth every penny. We had two breakfasts with drinks (see pics 😋) and it cost £26.40. If we stayed in Dundee we would definitely return. Thank you West House for a lovely experience. 😎

Went here on a deal with Itison so had a look at the reviews beforehand. Externally it doesn't look great and under normal circumstances would pass it by however we were surprised. Food was freshly prepared and tasty. Service was excellent and the young man and woman organising our food couldn't have been more helpful. Toilets were nice and clean. An enjoyable experience

Friendly service, it was really busy so that's always a good sign. Plenty of GF options. Really good pizza. 😋. I had goats cheese which was delicious. I would recommend this place for lunch or brunch.

I’ve visited West House a couple of times recently and it’s quickly becoming a favourite spot. The Ragu pasta was absolutely delicious, rich, hearty and full of flavour. I also came by for brunch with my dance society and had the chicken and bacon sandwich, which was really tasty and felt great value for money. The place itself has such a lovely, chilled vibe. The interior is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax with friends. On top of that, they have a really good selection of drinks at the bar. Overall, West House is a gem in Dundee with great food, great atmosphere and definitely worth a visit.

Stumbled across this wonderful cafe serving gf pizza and pasta using the find me gluten free app. It was very busy so we had a wee wait but it was well worth it for the absolutely delicious gluten free and dairy free half pizza I enjoyed with a small bowl of sweet potato, carrot and butternut squash soup. Only £10.75. It's the best gluten free pizza I've had in the ten years I've not been able to eat gluten. Staff are very friendly. Music was very loud and difficult to have a conversation when we first arrived as people were speaking loudly to be heard but by the end of the meal some people had left and the music was quieter so it was a lovely relaxing ambience and able to have a conversation.

Pizzas fuel photoshoots! Our team met for lunch ahead of a project in Dundee, sharing some very tasty pizzas and potato wedges. The ‘little hottie’ is a favourite! The staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere relaxing and easy to chat. Highly recommend a visit, whether you’re on a photoshoot or not!

Not much is open at 8am which posed a challenge as we were due to an event at 9am at the University. After our first option fizzled out, we happened across The West House. I had a great coffee and we really enjoyed the meal. The atmostphere was great and we really enjoyed the music (despite not knowing most of it). The staff were very pleasant and aware of why we were visiting so thoughtful in how they engaged us. We were able to eat quickly and make it out on schedule. Overall this was a great start to the day and I'll return again.

Had a fantastic meal for my daughter's 21st. Clean, smart modern surroundings, the food was fabulous. Service wasn't the fastest, but that made for a relaxing meal. It's a wine bar later in the evening so i recommend eating early as it livens up after 9pm.

Sushi restaurant
Oshibori is a sushi restaurant in Dundee that has made a significant impact on the local culinary scene. It stands out for its use of fresh local ingredients and high-quality Japanese imports to create authentic Japanese dishes with exquisite taste, quality, and presentation. The restaurant's interior and dishes are both considered works of art, offering an elegant and dramatic dining experience. Oshibori offers a unique fusion of Scottish and Japanese cuisine, featuring options like sashimi boats and Wagyu beef.
Fantastic service! Such a beautiful spot to dine at, great place for a first date with super reasonable prices too. Truly brings culture and cuisine together in an inexpensive bow. Mojito wasn't my favourite and tasted a bit cough syrupy, however, ramen on the other hand? Delicious!
CyanFlake — Google review
I visited Dundee Oshibori after reading some great reviews and was immediately drawn to its artistic décor. The space has a unique, creative touch—perhaps because I heard the owner is also an artist. That artistic flair certainly shines through in the atmosphere. As for the food, it didn’t disappoint. The fried shrimp dumplings and Japanese fried chicken were original and delicious, offering great texture and flavor. The sushi was fresh and enjoyable as well, making it a solid choice for a meal. However, the cleanliness could be improved. Small details, like a half-empty soy sauce bottle that could have been wiped down, made a difference in the overall experience. A bit more attention to tidiness would elevate the restaurant even further. Overall, Dundee Oshibori delivers on taste and creativity, but a little more care in maintenance would make it even better. Would I return? Yes, for the food and the artistic vibe.

This Japanese restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience, set in what feels like a Georgian noble’s house that just so happens to serve some of the most authentic Japanese food around. The building itself is full of period charm — high ceilings, ornate details, and a quiet grandeur that adds something special to the meal before a single dish arrives. The contrast between the refined Georgian setting and the traditional Japanese menu works beautifully. It feels like stepping through a time portal that took a detour through Tokyo — in the best possible way. The food is excellent across the board. Every dish is full of flavour, clearly made with care, and the portions are more than generous. Whether it’s sushi, ramen, or hot dishes from the grill, the menu doesn’t miss. The real surprise highlight? The plum wine. Without exaggeration, it was the best plum wine tasted in recent memory — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. It alone is worth the visit. Altogether, it’s a memorable experience that blends history, elegance, and incredibly satisfying Japanese cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meal that’s both comforting and just a little bit surreal.

I visited Oshibiri after googling a halal Japanese restaurant in Dundee whilst staying in St Andrews and would definitely visit again in the future !! I order the chicken goyaz and chicken udon noodles and the flavours to both meals were absolutely brilliant. The customer service of the young gentleman on the night was phenomenal too. Thank you for the warm welcome and perfect food.
Aimmen R — Google review
It’s the best Dundee has. It is however pricey and since April they now add a £2 service charge to every bill/meal making it a bit sneaky and uncalled for. In April the Living Wage went up so they now charge a service charge for 1 person to eat 1 set meal when the restaurant is really quiet, seemingly to defeat the purpose of hospitality. It was not a dinner of 4-6 people ordering item after item in which case I would completely agree that a service charge would be great!
Phillis G — Google review
First time I tried Japanese food, was good but was more impressed with the elegant decor and garden.
Gail J — Google review

Hai L — Google review
A gem in the City Centre, Service was at the highest level from the moment that we walked through the door. No pressure or rushing the menu with a refreshing drink served at our request whilst we drooled over the choices that were on offer. Asking the waiter for his recommendation it was swiftly followed and it did not disappoint. The waiter had fantastic knowledge of the menu he had also visited Japan and was able to give us more in-depth knowledge of some the dishes. Starters were exciting and were the perfect set up for the main meal with enough food to share between the two of us with a nice addition of miso soup that was provided by the kitchen. The mains then made an appearance not too long after the starters had been cleared. These were healthy portions, filling, and full of all the flavours that were described on the menu. The ramen noodles had a wonderful kick of heat and now I can see why they were recommended. Now I would suggest going for them if the chance arises. Friendliness, clean, intimate, and overall fantastic food. We cannot wait to go back and try the more adventurous dishes, especially the Eel.

I know this has a lot of reviews, but I wanted to add to it. We lived in a very nice neighborhood in Paris for a number of years and the Post House Coffee Co. cafe was every bit as good as any cafe in our Paris neighborhood. 71 Brewing is a top-notch brewery in Scotland that offers award-winning tours and sells their quality brews on-site. The brewery has gained a reputation for its exceptional beers, with a taproom featuring 10 good taps and an outstanding staff. Visitors can enjoy a range of craft and cask beers, including some rare finds, while also having the option to purchase beer to take away. The brewery's diverse range of beer styles has garnered praise from patrons who keep coming back for more.
It started with 71 Brewery's 'Luminous Nights.' I was about to say 'and it stopped with ....' but I'm still enjoying each and ever offering from these rather clever people from Dundee at 71 Brewery. I like to think I have good taste buds for beer, having tried many over the years. Local artisan beers I've had have usually disappointed so it was with hesitation I tried the selection of beers from 71 Brewery as I'd never heard of them before. I wished I hadn't! I can't stop buying their products now! Luminous Nights is incredible: next up was 'Mandarina Sky' this one also is incredible. Subtle fruit tones that have you gasping to try, not too gassy and superbly hazy in appearance. The assault on my taste buds had me wanting to drink it all in one go: but no, I savoured every mouthful. Oh boy, hard to find superlatives that fit this review without sounding, well, 'gushy.' Truthfully, search them out, you so won't be disappointed.

Great beers , but there's a big but.My last 2 order experiences have been abysmal. It's one thing receiving a wrong order , but it's it's a lot worse when you receive everything you've ordered to be bashed. My experience lately has left a bad taste in my mouth. Customer service really is not a core strength. Must do much better. A customer of 3 years lost.

Visited on a weekday, after a quiet beer alone. Barman was really friendly and let me sample ALL the beers (I didn’t ask to) had a great conversation about them. Settled for an IPA which was good value. Saw some DJ decks presume the atmosphere is livelier on the weekends! Couldn’t stay too long but did enjoy the visit!

I attended my first ever piss-up in a brewery here for a friend's 50th birthday - it was remarkably well organised! Over 50 of us turned up in quite a short space of time and the staff coped admirably; I didn't hear a single grumble. I didn't have time to sample more than a couple of the dangerous number of beers they offer but they were bloody tasty and not unreasonably priced. Well worth a go - I think they do tours of the brewery.

A taproom with 10 good taps, outstanding staff, and perhaps the best bottleshop in Dundee. Good rotation of beers both on draft and in the bottleshop, some proper gems and rarities end up hidden in this tiny taproom that looks more like a student flat than a bar at first glance. Don't be put off though - this hidden gem is Dundee's best kept beer secret. The beers they make range in styles and they come up with some winners too. Tell your friends! Or don't, and make this hidden piece of Dundee all yours. ★★★★★

We were very disappointed by the new quiz app format, it's antisocial, no interaction and doesn't work for a group. The app didn't have sound so many questions were just a guess. Not available on TV so whole group could see questions. Very disappointed. The staff and food are great, so it's a pity we loved the traditional quiz with the chat, lets have that back

Not going to even give a rating because we didn't show up. Calling an hour before and telling me that our reservation is cancelled because their reservation system is not working, is not my problem! The host Amy, said that she would rather just call the first person and have a difficult conversation with me, who reserved a table ONE MONTH before, than someone else. What a great disappointment when we were really looking forward to a post work treat. This is not how you treat customers because you have issues with your system. If you had a booking for a group of 15 when I booked a table on May 27th is absolutely pathetic. Teach your staff better because I will definitely not be coming back to your establishment anymore nor recommend to others.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Seafood restaurant
If you're looking for some good fish and chips in Dundee, then Tailend Dundee is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant serves up delicious seafood dishes, as well as gluten-free options if that's something you're interested in. Plus, the staff are very friendly and willing to help with any questions you may have.
I just had the most amazing lunch! I enjoyed a scrumptious fish taco with salmon and a delightful beetroot salad. The food was fantastic, and the vibe of the place was truly the icing on the cake. The restaurant is so authentic with beautiful decor on every wall. Even though it looks small from the outside, it opens up to more than 50 seats downstairs, making the experience really unique and immersive. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food and an unforgettable atmosphere! The portion size was really generous, and I had a Diet Coke with the fish tacos and the salmon pizza salad, all for around 28 pounds.

Lovely fish restaurant in Dundee’s city centre. Beautiful food and excellent service! The staff were really lovely, helpful and very accommodating even though we arrived late. My husband had the haddock and chips and said it was the best he’d ever eaten! I had the hot smoked salmon salad which was so fresh and tasty! Highly recommended if you want great food and service at very reasonable prices!

Great seafood place in Dundee city center!! The restaurant is in the basement. The top is the take out area. The waitresses are very friendly and hospitality. The seafood is very fresh and delicious. The place is small, so please make reservations before you go. We waited for 45 minutes and took a walk around the city center. Also, their oysters are running out quickly. Recommend to do a lunch or early dinner.

Visited the place during my day trip to Dundee last week. Awesome ! Thanks to the google review and recommendations , we decided to give it a try from a random pick. The sea-bass and haddock are fresh and chips are yummy! Love the simple deco in the restaurant. We have a joyful lunch there. Will definitely come back again if I visit Dundee.

This is a great place to eat fresh seafood, it is supplied by Spinks of Arbroath so the smokie should be tried. The tiger prawns were fabulous and the batter very good too. The downstairs has the restaurant and ground level has the takeaway. Feels a bit dark going down the stairs but the place is well lit and tables well spaced. Being under the pavement there are alcoves with seating as well as a bar for the drinks and pay station. The service was good and we didn’t have long to wait for our food. It can quickly fill up at tea time.

Best fish and chips in Dundee, the food arrived quickly and was presented in a fashion traditional to fish and chips.... The haddock was crispy, chips golden and crunchy, tartare sauce punchy, peas green 🙂. Yes my picture is of an empty plate and yes it was that good! Coffee was also very good.

One of the best fish and chip places in Dundee! Been there multiple times already usually on a Saturday for their fish and chips and their special £1 pound/ oyster deal. The batter on the fish is crispy and golden brown, providing a satisfying crunch with each bite. Portion size is generous and fries are fried evenly as well. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends and family. If you’re a fan of fish and chips, don’t forget to check out this restaurant :)

Wine bar
Bar
Nestled by the waterfront, The Wine Press is a charming spot that invites you to unwind in its warm and casual atmosphere. Once home to the infamous Lennons Bar, this venue has transformed into a beloved local wine bar thanks to the team from Aitken Wines. Here, you'll find an impressive selection of wines sourced from around the globe, alongside delectable Scottish-inspired small plates and sharing boards that are perfect for grazing.
Excellent wine list, service, location, and ambiance! I was greeted and sat right away with a smile, had the menu explained and given recommendations, then served very quickly. I appreciated the service and efficiency.

We were a party of over 20 on a Sunday evening at the end of April. We did pre-order the food to make life for them easier. They managed to squeeze us into 4 joined-up tables. They had our food all made up correctly (although some of us probably over-ordered). It was fabulous. A mixture of starter / small plates / sharing plates all perfect. A good choice of reasonably priced wines available. All good value, service with a smile and very helpful staff. Thoroughly recommended.

Stopped in on our round-about Scotland. Super friendly staff and delicious food. Even easily accommodated our gf status. Loved the wine selection and I was able to create my own flight!

Really nice bar, with reasonable prices. Service was spot on, and food was tasty. Would definitely recommend the negroni!

We popped into The Wine Press for a, between lunch and dinner snack, after a day of driving from the highlands. New to Dundee we asked Jamie for wine suggestions as well as places we could consider for dinner later that night. Jamie was very friendly, helpful and an all around good bloke. He paired up some lovely wines with our Vitners Plate and we weren't disappointed at all. We had a fantastic time at The Wine Press and will definitely return next time we are in Dundee!

What a lovely place with a really laid back atmosphere , great wine selection and the food was fresh and tasty. If you want somewhere where you can relax and actually hear your friends talk..... Fabulous 😍😍

Cheese board with added side of meat and hummus with pitta bread lovely. As was the wine that we selected. Felt that portion size for padron peppers and spanish omelette on smaller side for price. My 2nd visit and won't be my last.

My Mum and I came upon this amazing place by accident. Our first visit to Dundee. The choice of great wine; delicious mediterranean bites and small plates, not forgetting the very pleasant staff, make this a gem for Dundee. Worth making the trip for! Well done!

Takeout Restaurant
Chinese restaurant
The Moon Chinese Takeaway, located in Dundee, has gained a strong reputation for consistently serving high-quality and authentic Chinese cuisine. Customers have praised the delicious and affordable food, generous portions, and overall reasonable prices. The menu offers a variety of traditional Cantonese dishes as well as some adventurous options. While the dining area may lack comfort and cleanliness, the takeaway service is highly regarded.
We ordered egg fried rice, chicken noodle soup, and lemon chicken and they were all brilliant. Buying from them was quick and easy. I usually include pictures but the food was so good I didn't even stop to photograph it haha. They were so nice that they even gave us rice crackers on the house. Would happily buy again from them :3

I ordered chips and cheese, and both were cold upon arrival. The cheese was completely dried up, showing it had been sitting around for a while. On top of that, charging for delivery, but the delivery time was extended twice, still resulting in poor food quality. This feels like a complete scam. Overall, I rate it ZERO 0️⃣.

Would give 0 stars if i could! Feces in my beef chow mein. Absolutely disgusting and vile. Went to shop to complaint, was offered another one, freshly made with no feces haha! Eventually got 6.50 back (was 9.80) instead and not even an apology, in fact was told it was 'impossible' and was accused of putting it there myself! WILL NOT BE BACK AND POSTING ON FACEBOOK TO MAKE OTHERS AWARE!! trading standards are also getting a phone call tomorrow!
Jamie H — Google review
Not impressed. Satay sauce is sweet, doesn’t taste like peanuts, chow main is bland, chips are barely seasoned, chicken not crispy. Not happy, all came to £35! Waste of money. The moon used to be so good as well, won’t be going here again.
Stephanie D — Google review
Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Horrible food, stale chips. Rank curry sauce and terrible delivery time. Staff incredibly rude on the phone too. Save your money and go elsewhere, there is a reason this is low rated.

Best tofu iv had in Dundee. Always tasty, even make fried rice with no egg or butter for me as I'm vegan. My order is always ready for me by the time I get there within a short time. Lovely family and service. Very reasonable prices that I'm able to treat myself regularly.
Mandy B — Google review
We love ordering from here. Food is always great. They have some great duck dishes that we love, and the dumplings are the closest we get to having dim sum in a takeaway from dundee. I can't count how many times we go back to ordering from here because they are such a solid choice. Plus we love all the lego in the window!
Zora — Google review
Caused food poisoning - reported to environmental health. The food smelt funny, tasted odd and when brought up on phone, they were nonchalant and not helpful.
