Bar & grill
The Orange Tree Bar and Grill is a stylish dining spot housed in a Georgian building with a modern glass extension, offering an array of steaks and cocktails. Situated in Stoke-on-Trent, this restaurant has gained acclaim for its attentive staff, welcoming ambiance, and diverse menu options. It's a popular choice for romantic evenings or special celebrations, known particularly for its delectable burgers like the 'dirty burger' featuring blue cheese sauce, jalapenos, and maple bacon.
Our first visit and we were well impressed! Special thank you to Emily and the staff for accommodating the menu for our kids. That's top notch customer service! Love the decor and vibe here. Best of all, the food. Wow! One of the best fish and chips eaten ever. Well done!

Booked a table for my partner’s birthday celebration. Staff is super nice and the food is amazing. We have the onion soup, tempura cauliflower, mixed grill, prawns and bone marrows as sides. The food is amazing and the cocktail is lovely. We ordered the zombie and the dice which you can play with the dice to get the selection of the flavour which is a fantastic snack idea for those who would love to play and struggling to choose❤️.

Reviewed before, revisited 12 months later and still overrated. Starter went back (belly pork) and £20 for a chicken kebab chucked on a plate with oven chips? Not sure if the chef has wandered but this could be far better. Stoke is a little tough for a finer dining experience, this is… at the end of the day a pub… like I say when it comes to food this is not all that. I think Willow is a tad better but that could improve but is held back by its tiny kitchen! Each to their own. That’s my opinion and that of the 5 guests I took. All felt let down.
Paul S — Google review
Nothing to write home about. Upmarket Cherry Tree Long wait between drink orders. Food was nice enough but you’d expect something with the steak for £28.45 . Paid for accompaniments didn’t arrive until I’d more or less finished my steak . Belly Pork starter at £9.45 wasn’t worth the money either . Recently refurbished so lovely decor etc … suppose you’re paying the extra to look what a nice job the interior designers have made .

We went for a meal out on Father's Day. I've been twice now and it's definitely one of my favourite places to eat at. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food was incredible. You can tell that everyone there definitely have a lot of passion for what they do, as everything was perfectly cooked and presented like a piece of art.
Elliot M — Google review
Whilst service was somewhat slow to begin with, it picked up quickly. Food was phenomenal and the atmosphere is lovely. Very comfortable! Little pricy but the quality is there. Diogo was super helpful, and a fab photographer (thank you again) - was a perfect post festival birthday treat.
Laura B — Google review
The place is very lively and the food is very unique and amazing. I think the menu has something for everyone so it’s definitely one of the best restaurants in Stoke on Trent. I got the King Prawns dish and it was very tasty. The food was also served very quickly and the servers were very friendly.

Newly renovated, great food, great cocktails & fantastic service. I went with butter chicken starter Sea bass pasta main & toffee apple crumble for dessert

Italian restaurant
La Bella Napoli is a charming, family-owned Italian restaurant that has recently moved to a prime location in Piccadilly, across from the Regent Theatre. The restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere and serves authentic Italian cuisine, including delectable pizzas. While there may be steep stairs to the first floor and limited parking, visitors can enjoy a delightful dining experience with quality food and excellent service.
Well, it has been years since I visited this restaurant. In fact, the last time I came, it was located along Cheapside. I spoke to the chef explaining that I was vegan and surprise me with a suitable dish. Voilà I wasn't disappointed.
Carol B — Google review
The staff are absolutely fantastic and so friendly, they create such a beautiful atmosphere and the food is just divine. Andy the front of house is so kind and his service and dedication to the restaurant doesn’t go unnoticed with him going above and beyond for his custom. Hands down the best Italian menu I’ve seen locally, they have really captured the best parts of Italian cuisine and compiled it into an easy to read and fair priced menu. Me and my boyfriend are always impressed at the superb quality of the food as it always tastes fresh and well prepared.
Elizabeth H — Google review
The pasta dish was delicious & a good size portion as was the cheesecake & glass of wine. Good value for money. The staff were really pleasant & polite. Would highly recommend eating here.
Sue D — Google review
The food was nice, but portions size could be bigger. My partner stayed hungry 😅 We had starter, main and dessert. Beer is expensive.
Zsuzsanna T — Google review
Booked a table at 5.30, already quite busy. Staff good but poor knowledge. Pesto dish was just basil flavoured cream and very claggy with dry pieces of chicken. Pizza OK but small. Owner rocked up in her huge range rover and plonked it right in front of our view. If it wasn't for the vicky hall or theatre I doubt it'd still be trading. Average age 50-60yrs. Wasted £60. Needs to reduce the huge menu and focus on quality. Once ordered, took 55 mins to arrive.
Helen J — Google review
Visited prior to the theatre and chose off the theatre menu. We pre ordered and still waited over 30/40 mins for the mains to arrive, cutting it fine for the theatre. Steak (which is £7 extra) was served with freezing cold vegetables. Very average food. Overall cost was nearly £200 for 4 adults on a 2 course set menu with non alcoholic drinks?! Very expensive for what we had and no apologies for the cold food. Wouldn’t return unfortunately.
Eleanor G — Google review
When we arrived the restaurant was empty. We waited 1hour and 15 mins for our meal. Every one around d us had starters and main courses and we still hadn’t been served. When I asked to speak to the manager, she was rude and obnoxious. The first thing she said was you have 1.5 hours before the show, the food is freshly made and the restaurant is full. She would not let me get a word in and just kept talking over me. The worst customer relations and service, I have ever come across. She needs a lesson in manners
Barbara T — Google review
On arrival some of the staff were not very friendly was pointed to a table to where to sit, we were freezing it was so cold in there is dis tell one of the staff members and she did say she would put the heating on but took a while to warm up, I asked one of the staff if there was wi fi and she abruptly replied yes but only for staff surely they should share with customers. Meal was average we had the spaghetti meatballs not much taste to it was ok for the price we paid thought we would get better service

Pub
The Masons Arms, located on Far Green Dike Street, is a charming Victorian-era pub offering a variety of real ales and delicious food throughout the day. The pub boasts a clean and nicely decorated interior with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. It's highly recommended to book in advance for their popular Sunday lunch. With top ratings for service and food, this spot offers quality meals at reasonable prices, including great Sunday roasts and homemade pub food.
8 of us friends visited here on 01/02/2025 for a "catch up". We had an evening meal, then returned the following day for a Sunday Roast. The food was excellent, big portions with great attention to detail. Very reasonable prices also. Owners Paul & Shaz, as well as all of the Staff were amazing, they were warm & friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Even their Dog was friendly. I would highly recommend attending this hidden gem. Due to the great food, excellent service we received & for the amazing hospitality shown to us, We will definitely be back. Broughton High '87 Lads

Great little pub, with excellent food. Went for a Sunday dinner, fitted us in last minute, food and service was fantastic. Highly recommend. Best cheesecake I have had in a long time. X

Booked in for Mother's Day and cannot fault the food whatsoever. Not very often that you get both vegan AND gluten free options on the menu, especially for a roast dinner. But they delivered. The food was brilliant - from starter to main to pudding. Highly recommended.

We found the Masons Arms whilst looking for a venue that catered for Gluten Free. All I can say is WOW…….. What attention to detail. Fabulous food, great service and attention to detail. Gave us confidence as a family that they know how to cater for specific dietary needs. We had a wonderful Sunday lunch. So much choice and will definitely be back.

I travel around in my campervan and called ahead to ask could I park in their car park overnight. I arrived around lunch time to see a pub full of folks enjoying meals and drinks. A warm welcome from the bar staff as I enjoyed a magnificent pint of Landlord. After a nice walk with doggo along the scenic nearby canal, we went for a snooze in the van. Around six doggo and I went back to the pub for dinner. I had probably the best steak and ale pie ever, and three pints of lovely real ales. The local lads in the corner were a laugh, the landlord was lovely and friendly. I think there was a music evening about to start before I left, but it was bedtime for me and doggo. I wish I had a pub like this near me. If only I could get that pie recipe..

Been refurbished since we last visited. Beautifully done. Staff very friendly and welcoming AND the food ! Steak and ale pie AMAZING syrup pudding and custard DELICIOUS. Well worth a visit

Nice outdoor area to have a drink. The inside needs a bit of a refurb and the food just like a lot of pubs these days is average and overpriced. Hard to get a proper home cooked meal in pubs these days. Polite bar staff.

Nestled alongside the picturesque Trent & Mersey Canal, The Plume of Feathers is a charming pub co-owned by actor Neil Morrissey, making it a delightful stop for both locals and travelers. This welcoming establishment invites you to enjoy lunch with your furry companions, whether inside at the bar or outside soaking in the scenic views. With a diverse menu featuring homemade dishes crafted from fresh local ingredients and an impressive selection of ales, there's something for everyone.
Visited here after a long day at Alton Towers. Around 30 minutes drive from the Towers. Close to M6. Well worth a visit. May seem a little expensive on paper but for the extra few pounds per meal compared to other places. The food and the service were fantastic. Very impressed. Will definitely consider another visit when visiting Alton Towers again.

Popped in here for lunch with my wife and mother-in-law the other day and had what I think was the most delicious cottage pie I have ever had. It doesn’t look like much but the pastry was perfect, the filling meaty & moist, and the mash was cream and soft. Absolutely fabulous. My wife had a chicken burger that she enjoyed and my m-in-law had fish & chips but TRUST ME…if you come here, GET THE COTTAGE PIE!!!!

Great pub only a few miles from World of Wedgewood. Great atmosphere, great service, great drinks and food, great dessert. Scotch Egg was fantastic! Braised Beef Brisket and Blonde Ale Pie with crispy kale and bubble and squeak were excellent!7 Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chocomocca desserts were delicious!

Hey there Amie, how's it all going? We loved our visit yesterday Friday 6th June 2025. What a lovely little pub you've got there with the lovely canal running alongside . You couldn't ask for a better spot really . We had a fab experience. Please let the chefs know the food was gorgeous. We both went for baguettes, filled with fish goujons & steak strips, lovely side salad and triple cooked chips 😋 All staff were pleasant , smart , could smile more 😀 Pub lovely atmosphere 👌 Loved it and we will be back ❤️

So we booked an evening back in March, about three weeks before a famous TV celebrity left for pastures new. As we had also booked a lodge in nearby Milwich we decided to keep our booking. Sadly the booking had not moved over, but that was soon sorted with a quick email. So we arrived at a very busy pub that appeared to be very popular. We were quickly seated by Julia and offered drinks, which were promptly delivered. The menus arrived equally promptly as we were able to choose our meals. Both the starters and main courses were excellent and devoured with ease. Simply not enough room for pudding. Overall a very enjoyable visit. If geography allows, we live in Peterborough and Northwich we will return.

We ordered cocktails, Jack was amazing mastered mojito and dark and stormy very well. The live music was a massive hit but ended at 3, I feel like an afternoon of live music would’ve been great. After speaking to the new owner, he is lovely and has a lot of hopes for the pub and I hope it does well! 10/10 for jack and his cocktails, definitely mastered it very well!

Pub
Nestled in a cozy atmosphere, the Pepper Mill is your go-to destination for traditional British pub fare and expertly carved meats. With a spacious patio and designated play areas for kids, it’s perfect for families looking to enjoy a leisurely meal. The chefs here take pride in slow-cooking succulent meats that are served alongside classic accompaniments like roast potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, and seasonal vegetables.
This is my 4th visit to the Pepper Mill, well travelling from Scotland on Business. The place never disappoints, so taking a small detour on my journey down south is definitely worth it. You are greeted by friendly, polite, and attentive staff, they have a great selection of food, drink and delicious desert. Caitlyn and Gemma served me with a smile, I highly recommend the hunters chicken. Open and airy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed.
David G — Google review
Upon arrival the pub was empty so I assumed we wouldn’t have to wait long for our food….. how wrong was I. As I went up to the bar to order our food there was already a lady complaining about the time she’s been waiting for her food, anyway I ordered our food and went back to the table; after 40 minutes of waiting I asked a waitress to ask how long the food would be, she came back and said we would have our food in 5 minutes, another 20 minutes go by so I get up and go to bar to ask how long food would be, at this point I see the food being taken to our table, so I went over to the table to eat, but what was presented to me was far from edible. The onion rings and mushrooms were burnt and dry, I asked for the steak to be cooked medium and it came rare, the chips were also greasy, I asked a waitress to get me a manager, and the “ chef “ came out to ask me what was wrong with the food, I told her and she was not happy I didn’t like the food and insisted it was fine and continued to start a argument about it, I asked again to speak to a manager and she walked off so I went to get a manager and explained my issue to him, he said that his staff had accused me of swearing at them therefore he would have to think about giving me a refund! Least to say I got my refund in the end! Customer Service is shocking and the food is even more shocking, this place needs shutting down!!! If I could give 0 stars I would!

The pub was empty just enough people I can count on one.hand but there was few dirty tables the food was ok for a 40 minute wait our lasagne was burnt round the edges and paid for a side of chips £3 and to be precise there was 8 chips next to the lasagne bowl with my 🥧 and chips peas and gravy that was nice the £34 with 2 cokes I thought was pushing the boat out abit considering the portion size and no deals as kids holidays the coke glasses were dirty aswell not very clean place to eat and there was a little girl roughly bout 6 years old running carrying knifes to put in a tray she dropped some knifes and still put in the tray which I thought was bang out of order
Amanda W — Google review
The food was from frozen to microwave, rubbery, unseasoned just disappointing nice staff at the bar, but no intractions with any one after. Tbh after a few bites we left and went to mcdonald's

Absolutely disappointed. My partner booked a table for tonight at 8:30pm. We arrived for our booking 10 minutes early to be met by a very rude girl on the bar insisting we’d received notification of cancellation which is categorically not true. We travelled 25 minutes to try out this restaurant/pub and the staff on the bar were not even remotely apologetic. No explanation, nothing. Will not be receiving our business again.

Came in for a carvery but had steak Americano instead, Lillie served us at the bar, she was really nice and made us feel welcome. All staff very friendly , Food was really good , empty plates, highly recommended , we will he back soon xx

Unfortunately we were very disappointed having a family lunch at Pepper Mill. Just a few people seated but dirty tables everywhere and not enough staff( one person behind the bar who was taking orders and clearing tables on a Saturday). Long wait for the food ...Also my husband's steak was undercooked. We addressed the issue and they cooked a fresh one...just to have it again undecooked plus overcooked chips. Disappointed with the food quality. The only good thing was the lady behind the bar. She was very polite and kind.

Went around 4pm on Sunday and place was completely dead. Wish I had checked recent reviews before going. Bought 2 main meals, a kids meal and 2 sides. Everything that had been fried was absolutely soaked in oil and was really brown like the oil hadn't been changed. The kids burger had a stale bun, veg was overcooked (feel like it may have been taken off the carvery that had just been shut off and had been sitting out for a while). Generally really poor which was really disappointing considering how much we spent. Definitely won't be going again.

We visited as a party of 9, which included 3 children, 2 of which have special needs. The tone for how fantastic our visit would be was set when 2 of the party arrived first and requested the kids get to order first so their food could come out first, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Ashleigh (or perhaps Ashley, we didn't check!) was incredible - she made sure the kids' food came out asap, and they were eating within minutes of our arrival. We're very grateful to her for her fantastic service. The adults' food also didn't take too long, and whilst my own plate was a substantial portion (I opted to 'go large' on the roast!), it was delicious so I did actually finish it all. The veg wasn't overcooked, which is often an issue with Sunday roasts. The meats (you get all 3 if you go large) were nicely cooked, and the Yorkshire puddings were clearly homemade from their differing shapes - none of that picture perfect out of a packet lark. The rest of the group had only compliments for their own food, and the sticky toffee pudding is particularly recommended as a dessert. The overall atmosphere was pleasant, warm, and comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. If we're in the area again, we'd certainly know where to stop for food.

Not what it used to be. Four of us were seated on a very small table which are very close together. The menu is difficult to read on a green background. Feels more like a cafe menu. Two sided laminated. The food was expensive but was nice and hot. The service and clearing of the table was very slow. Two staff who spent more time chatting/whispering and standing behind the bar than serving. We asked for a dessert menu, 30 minutes later no one had come back to take the orders and we tried to get their attention but they were not actively checking tables or making eye contact. We left without ordering dessert. Will not be going back.

Had an amazing time at The Black Lake Pub celebrating my dad’s 60th birthday! We booked a table for 4, and everything was spot on. Starters were a real treat—loaded potato skins with cheese and bacon bits, breaded brie, and crispy battered king prawns. Everyone was raving about them! For mains, we went for the 12oz gammon, 8oz fillet steak, halloumi burger, and pan-fried salmon fillet—all cooked just right and super tasty. Dessert was the cherry on top: apple crumble and a homemade tiramisu that we’re still talking about. No complaints at all. Definitely coming back!

Great service. The servers are very warm and welcoming. The food came out well prepared, looked great and tasted even better. High quality ingredients combined with a nice atmosphere, and good service makes this restaurant a place to visit. Visited around 4pm so it was nice and quiet but does get busy during lunch and dinner time. They have a few promos for a few nights of the week. We ordered the spotted "Richard," sticky date pudding, sirloin steak, New York steak, lamb shank, and the fish pie. All were delicious as o tried them all. Enjoy all!!!

Tremendous Monday lunch, with Mrs B. Fairly quiet yes, staff all seemed happy and very polite, explaining the options on the menu today. The value for money was excellent as we both had a starter and a main. The quality and speed of service was spot on! Obviously freshly cooked, no overcooked veg, beautiful beef with almost no fat, roasted potatoes were piping hot and quite a charismatic eatery. The only downside was the 90 mile journey home, would definitely return if back in the area. If you live nearby and haven’t tried it, you’re missing out, such a friendly bunch of staff and quality food. Thank you all 🏆👍 Even included clean toilets pics

very nice venue that has so much more than can ve seen from the road, excellent menu although limited, the food was excellent and i have no complaints whatsoever. The staff I must say have been the friendliest and most attentive I have met I a long long time so the management need to be congratulate them and be congratulated themselves. large car park but beware the venue appears very quickly on a fast road to take care on approach. wohld highly recommend the hammock and mustard starter.

This place exceeded our expectations. It’s not often that you find a clean pub that is well stocked with friendly staff, great food and good service all rolled up into one! Food was mega and with unlimited soft drinks machine once glass is purchased. Also good Disabled access with a toilet right by the entrance. (Ask for key at bar) Other toilets are 2 flight upstairs. We stopped here on our way to the Liverpool Champions Parade and, although we hadn’t pre-booked breakfast, we decided to drop in before checking out of the hotel. We arrived at 8:13 am and, despite it being extremely busy, we were warmly welcomed by Emily. She was bubbly, friendly, and completely unphased by the hustle and bustle. While there were no tables available in the main restaurant, Emily quickly seated us in the pub area, which was perfectly fine. She took the time to explain how everything worked, including some handy tips on using the pancake machine safely – clearly needed, as someone else had already made a valiant attempt to set the toaster alight! Throughout our visit, Emily and her colleagues – Tegan, Lila, and Chelsea – worked tirelessly to maintain a high level of service. They kept everything well-stocked and managed table turnover with great efficiency. A special mention for Emily, who clearly demonstrated leadership – giving courteous guidance to her team while also rolling up her sleeves and working alongside them. It’s refreshing to see a supervisor lead by example rather than simply delegate. We’d definitely return to this Premier Inn and restaurant – a great experience all round.

We come here very often, and it’s never been a disappoint always a pleasure to be here, and the food is always dot on. Always been worth the money we spend here. The wait is really depending on how busy they are, but it’s never been over 20 minutes

Not very good, it would of been cheaper to go over the road to McDonalds and quality would of been better. We had steak that was asked to be cooked medium and it was more well done and tough with a nasty chargrill taste from a grill that hasn't been cleaned properly. Kids had burgers that they didn't enjoy. Staff and what I could guess was manageress were scruffy looking and with it being 2pm it was dead in there. I wonder why on a Saturday.

I absolutely love the chef Dan. He was amazing, had an amazing sense of humor and gave me four yourkshire puddings and referred to me as his “record” which we absolutely loved. Constantly joked throughout serving making jokes that he can’t read when we mentioned reviews and saying he expects this behaviour from big fat men not a tiny girl. Made our days, give that man a raise and a pint xx

Called in with my friends on the way back to Manchester. It was a Sunday so was mainly catering Carvery. I don't like carvery so asked what else was available. The main menu wasnt being used so I looked at the childrens menu. They also wasn't serving chips because it was a Sunday so I ordered Chicken burger and beans x two. All of the food was cold. My burger bun had no butter and wasn't offered any and then realised they had put chicken nuggets on it !! Why would I want a chicken nugget muffin. It was awful but Gypsy my friends dog liked it so I didn't get wasted. My friends had the carvery. Mash potatoes was very lumpy. The potatoes hadn't been cooked, very hard lumps and the Parsnips was that hard you could have wedged the door open with them. The Carvery was also cold. No complaints about the Yorkshire puddings or the meat tho. The best part of mine was the Pepper. That's why I gave a 1 and not a zero . Was so disappointed 😞

Had a click and collect Sunday roast today . Was ready on time, and hot, but content was very disappointing. Very little meat and mainly mashed potato and stuffing. Some cauliflower cheese, carrots and peas. Only half a tub of gravy, not enough for the whole meal. Not worth £14.99, I'm afraid.

Excellent beef and the other meats looked good too. However, the veg felt like it had been 'hanging around' and whilst veg did the job was no great shakes. They haven't got the hang of Yorkshire puddings here with them being biscuit like and dry. Christmas pudding and custard was near cold and nothing special . However, ice cream in my group was appreciated and good. Friendly service by all staff. Very busy , though Christmas season, and I think booking( which we did) would have been essential. Being busy a good sign but it did feel a bit manic. That said, a little quiet at carvery outlet. Plenty of parking. Toilets clean. On return in June much the same comments . Today everything painfully slow though and took over twenty minutes to be seated and as a coach load in , well over 25 minutes to queue at the carvery . It did mean I didn't have time for a pudding so I guess for the waist that was good. The handsome chefs were friendly and dissipated people's irritation at the long queue and their gentle flirting with the old ladies brought them a little smile.

A great place to have a meal. The restaurant is inviting, clean with a nice ambience. I had the duck starter with skinny fries. Unfortunately the duck was a bit overcooked and crispy for my liking. The fries were delicious. Hubby had gammon which he loved and my friends had the unicorn pie which they thoroughly enjoyed. Free parking, very friendly staff. Highly recommended and I would come again.

Our first visit here. The welcome we received was warm and genuine. Service was second to none. Spotless clean. Food was really good save for my steak. I like medium well. My partner ordered the same. The steak was so tough the knife struggled and I couldn't chew it. Everything else was top notch. I had the potted garlic mushrooms and my goodness I could live off those. We will definitely come back (I want the mushrooms).

Came here for my sisters birthday. I often order from either the small plate or children's menu due to dietary requirements, I was refused this despite explaining said dietary issues forcing me to pay double what I usually would. My sister ordered her starter to be told "it's not on the menu", she had to point it out on their menu in front of our server before they would let her order it. The starter my brother ordered, we were told they had none (not entirely sure if we xould believe this though given my sisters experience). Our food was brought to us after an hour and 20 minutes, they gave me the meat meal when I ordered the vegetarian, the chili con carne was more chili peppers than anything and the portion for the cost is downright shameful. We also had to wait a long time for a server to actually come and take our order in the first place. The cosy atmosphere is literally the ONLY saving grace of the evening. The pub puts events on every so often which are very good, but I definitely wouldn't return for any kind of meal, never mind a celebration one.

Such a disappointing visit - we’d wanted to come here for ages having driven past many a time. Finally got childcare arranged for our 3 children to have lunch out for our anniversary. Got to the pub and admittedly I do have a few allergies to cater for (feeding a baby who has allergies), so had to avoid dairy, egg and gluten. As I usually do in most restaurants, I opted for the burger (minus the bun) which I was told they didn’t have any of. Extremely disappointing straightaway - who runs out of burgers?! After some back and forth between the (very kind) waitress and kitchen, we established that none of the main meals I liked were suitable as all contained allergens. I had to make do with one of the nibbles plates (peri chicken wings) as a main with some chips on the side. Between first seating and finally receiving my husbands starter this took well over an hour, then approx another 20 mins between taking his plate away and serving mains. The chicken wings were nice (albeit extremely spicy for me but I’m not the best with spice), but was extremely disappointed to find the chips were so burnt that they were dry! Was like eating burnt crisps with the texture/flavour (picture doesn’t even do it justice). By the time I’d finished we’d been there nearly 2 hours. Such a pity as the pub itself - inside and outside - had such a lovely atmosphere, but given the shambles with trying to order a suitable meal (disappointing lack of options on the dessert menu - gluten free vegan is not too much to ask as had it at other restaurants!) and the very slow service we won’t be returning. Not an enjoyable way to spend our anniversary.

Main meals are excellent. Generous portions and lovely home cooked food. Service very friendly and efficient. Some desserts are beautifully presented whilst others need a little revamp? Pint of ice cream looked very unappealing. If you love desserts the bowl of crumble was enough to feed the table and absolutely swimming with custard which whilst fabulous! The presentation seemed a little incongruous with the delicate and absolutely delicious cheesecake. However, if you love food, definitely the place to go! Yum!

We haven't been to the Saracens Head for a little while and we called in on the off chance today for some lunch. We were initially very impressed by the refurbishment , it was warm comfortable and welcoming. The gentleman that attended to us was very friendly and amendable. The menu was ample and most competitively priced, the food was hot, fresh and delicious. We will most definitely be returning, possibly for one of their evening specials or Sunday Lunch which again seem very reasonably priced. All in all a most enjoyable experience.

Omg, you need to come to Saracens Head. Amazing food, friendly service and amazing atmosphere and this is down to Paul and his team. They know what a pub needs, great drinks and food first and foremost, but then there are quizzes, fun activities such as pig racing, karaoke and live entertainment. There are things for the kids to do such as the bouncy castle outside, charity fun days and Halloween parties in the function room...honestly, don't take my word for it, come and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed!!

Wow! Hubby and I are both quite local to this place, but even he mentioned that he hadn't been inside this building for over 30 years!! We definitely won't be leaving it that long for the next visit. VERY impressed with the whole visit from start to finish. A lovely warm welcome from Ashleigh, plus she took the time to talk to us at our table. All the staff are very polite and extremely friendly, whilst maintaining a high level of service and professionalism. They all spoke so clearly and concisely... this really does put the visitor at ease, as (subconsciously) you know your meal is going to arrive exactly as you ordered (no misunderstandings/ miscommunications like other food outlets where clarity may not be at the top of the customer service list). Lovely relaxed decor, with a shabby-chic feel. Anyway, superb quality steaks, cooked perfectly. Followed by sticky toffee pudding to absolutely die for. Can't wait to visit again. Excellent customer service. Lovely ambience, nice non intrusive music. Went for lunch here. Waited a bit for our meal to be ready, however the drinks were so tasty we had a strawberry and lime one and another with coconut and pineapple - absolutely loved these mocktails. Visited on Saturday for the first time in over a year. Menu seemed larger than I remember,There is something on there for everyone. There was 5 of us and I booked a table. We weren't rushed even though it was a busy Saturday. We had 3 courses, the tortilla sharer starter which was plenty enough for the 5 of us to share. I had the Barbabcoa beef Mexican stew as my main which was absolutely delicious and pretty big,I had a side of rice with it and was full by the time I finished, But not full enough to not fit in a delicious pub of golden nugget cheesecake. This place is definitely value for money and worth a visit.

We were in the area and the wife did a quick Google search for good restaurants. Chiquito popped up as a good choice and we fancied the look of it. I have to say, the food was delicious. It was so nice I forget to take pictures of our mains, as I was too busy tucking in🤦🏼‍♂️ The service was also excellent as our waitress was very polite and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant, was quite funky. We had the 5 Bean Chilli Nachos and BBQ Chicken Wings for starters (pic), Pulled Pork Chimichanga, Borrito & Paella for mains. A must try restaurant!
Chris G — Google review
I'd never been before and I was suprised I actually liked it. So for starter I had the chips and dip and I wasn't a fan. The salsa was homemade and I love salsa, however I did not like this one. The guac was ok but I've never really liked guac anyway and the sour cream was pretty bland. The same could be said about the chips too. They had a bit of seasoning on and where the seasoning was, they were nice, but it was very sparse and only in one patch on each chip, which is a shame. For main I had the southern fried chicken and BBQ pulled pork which was honestly amazing. After the starter I didn't have high hopes, but it actually tasted so nice. The chicken was crispy and the flavour of the chicken, pulled pork, cheese and BBQ sauce together was lovely and worked perfectly. The one thing I would say, I guess not really a complaint just a statement, I had a lot of fries, a lot. The chicken stack had been placed on top of my fries and when I moved it off and to the side I realised half my plate was fries. Compared to my boyfriend, who got the nacho chilli burger, it definitely seemed unfair the amount difference. It's safe to say I didn't eat all my fries and did pass some over to my partner. We also got a garlic tortilla with cheese to try and it was honestly delicious. If you are a fan of garlic bread then I strongly advise you to try this, you won't regret it. The restaurant itself was pretty big with an upstairs but also quite rightly packed with the tables, I like sitting in booths as I feel they give a sense of privacy but the walk ways weren't the biggest and I couldn't imagine it being easy to walk round when it gets busy. When we were there a diner started choking on her food, she was ok in the end, however the staff didn't seem to know how to react properly and their was a bit of a lack of communication in the panic. She was patted on the back and saved but I think that was from a customers doing, as the manager didn't seem to dislodge the food when he tried. So I'd say to the staff their that maybe they need to be trained in how to deal with a choking customer, as they do work in a place where their is a chance of that happening and they should really know how to deal with it efficiently. All in all besides that we had a nice dinner date, the food after the starter was good, the servers were polite and friendly and the restaurant was quite quiet at the time we went (4:30pm). P.s. To all future customers, make sure to chew your food properly.

Enjoyable meal due after initial concerns over spiciness of the meal options. I was reassured that everything was cooked fresh to order with the option of "heat" 😅. We had a shared starter, followed by baked sea bass and the OH had jumbalaya. Lively and cheerful location. Good service from Suzie, our server. Restrooms are clean but upstairs. Paid parking nearby. Wheelchair access may be tricky in downstairs restaurant for access to the restroom.

Roberto's Pizza House is a delightful trattoria nestled in Hanley, where the aroma of authentic Italian cuisine wafts from an open kitchen. With its charming red-check tablecloths and cozy ambiance, it’s the perfect spot for romantic dinners or family gatherings. Diners rave about the beautifully prepared meals that arrive hot and generous in portion sizes.
Absolutely adore this little Italian gem in Hanley Been going for over ten years Proper authentic Italian homemade food you can taste it’s made with love Chef is adorable and so friendly the staff are attentive. Great for kids also there menu is brilliant Highly recommend

I visited Roberto’s Pizza House last night and overall had a lovely evening. For a starter, I chose the Caprese salad, usually one of my favorites, but unfortunately, I would only rate it 2/10. The tomatoes had no flavor at all and tasted like plastic. Honestly, I think it would be better to remove this dish from the menu if the quality of ingredients can’t be improved. On a positive note, I tried the Lobster Agnellotti with salmon sauce, and it was truly delicious. The Spaghetti Carbonara is not prepared in the traditional Italian way, but it was still very tasty and enjoyable. For dessert, I ordered the Tiramisu, which I would rate 7/10. The flavor was good, but the ladyfingers were quite dry, which took away from the overall texture. What really stood out was the staff - extremely friendly, welcoming, and always smiling. Their hospitality made the evening special, and despite the small issues with some dishes, we had a wonderful time. With a few improvements in the menu quality, this place could easily become a top spot for Italian dining.
Bubeto I — Google review
We had this place on the list for some time and we gave it a go tonight. The place is loud and extremely warm, but overall affordable. Food on the other side, unfortunately didn’t excite us as much as we expected. The pasta were certainly all in the same kind of sauces and the white sauce just pure double cream with no trace of actual cooking sauce of frying some onion with garlic and the mushroom etc and make it a sauce out of it for the spaghetti funghi. It tasted like they boil the pasta and just threw the double cream on with some mushrooms and that was that. Same with the bolognese sauce, just canned tomatoes, and the lasagna sheets and cannelloni were overcooked and mushy. This is not real italian food, they don’t even have a proper wood fire for pizzas either. The service, terrible from start to end, with a team of 10 people not facing the small establishment service, just one single waitress that actually knew what to do, and the rest were just walking around. Plus, the drinks didn’t come on a tray, and the server had her fingers all over the rim of the glasses instead of holding the glasses from the middle. They didn’t have a clue about dishes, drinks, just walking around, waited ages for the bill, it took 5 people to ask for it, not stopping when you say stop at pepper nor parmezan just to finish off the spoons, certainly not professional and not the friendly service that you get in Italy and hospitality that Italians are known for. The only good thing out of the whole experience were the desserts, and the cheesecakes were delicious. Shame as it looked like it had a lot of potential.

We had a great evening tonight, we booked quite late on and we were offered a table 8:00. Great welcome , drinks were served quickly and the staff were really friendly and attentive. Although a busy evening Plates and cutlery were changed and drinks were topped up all the time. Pepper and cheese offered with every course , we were so impressed the kids said how good the service was , there was a girl with an Italian accent and a lady with a southern accent who were really great ,thanks again! A real family Italian experience. This place reminds me of an Italian restaurant straight out of a Disney film like lady and the tramp feel , we love it.

Fantastic food and lovely staff. Service was quick and the food came out quick too so we werent waiting ages. Food portions were great and the price was worth it. Not too expensive either. Definitely get what you pay for. I had the hunters chicken which came out great. No complaints and they are happy to make any changes to your meal if asked. Definitely worth a visit.

Pub no longer does food, just visiting food vans in then evening. Service was OK and they still do a good pint. Can't really comment on the atmosphere as we were the only patrons at the rime which maybe says it all.

Easter Sunday. Went in and came out, food looked like it was being served from a pop up gazebo in the car park. Bar person said we get the food outside and bring it in. No one eating inside, half a dozen on the car park. Lady who looked like she was serving food was petting a dog. What a dive. It may well be an old fashioned drinkers pub but advertising to sell food needs taking down

Amazing food! Great atmosphere in the bar! A real local find! It was a little tricky to book in but once we were there the welcome from the staff, the ambience of the pub and the fantastic food made it all worthwhile. My Dad had the steak and ale pie (which he has tried in many pubs over the years) and he gave this one a 10 out of 10 (high praise indeed), my Mom had the mushroom starter (as a main) which she thoroughly enjoyed and my Partner and I had the steaks, cooked with sauces (Steak Dianne & Drunken Bullock), the steaks came with chips (hand cut - delicious), fresh minted peas, mushrooms & onion rings. The steak meals were outstanding! We shall definitely come back again! Dog friendly in the bar area and they also have a (non-dog) restaurant area. There's good parking and are set in a great location (right next to the Wedgwood Estate).

Food is excellent and served in portions that leave very little plate visible. The staff are pleasant and attentive. The choice of beers is very good, e.g. Doombar, Sea Fury, Bass. The decor is a little worn and not what it once was when this was just a pub.

What a nice and relaxing place . The food i.e. steak was the best I've had for a long time , enjoyed it that much that I'll have to go back for another.. Well I said I'd go back and thus I have for Sunday Dinner and what a delicious beef dinner it was . The staff are soo helpful and do not rush you . All I can say is its even better & taster than before. If you do want a Sunday Dinner then please book to avoid disappointment .

A friendly welcome, lovely and clean, and the food was hot, fresh and tasty. Hubby had liver and onions, one of the best he's ever had. I had chicken in stilton sauce, it was delicious. And prices are very reasonable. Many thanks Wagon and Horses. We'll be back.

Don't know whos been posting the reviews but I didn't have the same experience. Walked in and got instantly overwhelmed with the smell of damp. Rude hostess, who doesnt know how to speak to customers politley. Thankfully the young staff where well mannered and polite. Food is average and can have better at home. Won't be a returning customer.

We had a lovely meal with family who appreciated the home cooking and the well kept Taylor’s Landlord. First class table service. Thank you for staying real!

A speculative visit on a Sunday lunchtime at this popular pub, resulted in Steve, sorry, that should be Phil, finding three of us a late table for some meals. We found the atmosphere conducive for a quiet repast and a few drinks. Staff were very attentive and saw us to our non-reserved table in the lounge. Well priced meals were served in reasonable time and sufficient for all our appetites, or should I say more than enough. Well worth a visit for both meals and their wide selection of beers and lagers but probably best to book first if planing to eat there.

Update: Meal was Perfect & Outstanding! I had the braised steak, chips & veg. Generous portion of steak and homemade chips and yummy gravy, everything was delicious, including the veg! I had extra gravy at at no extra charge and that was delicious too. The gravy here is fabulous and I would say the best tasting in the local area! Needles to say i am a regular customer and I recognise quality homemade food which is incredibly consistent, time after time!!

During my recent adventures in Fulford, I had the pleasure of dining at The Shoulder of Mutton, a delightful pub that truly captures the essence of warmth and hospitality. With its inviting atmosphere enhanced by cozy log burners, it felt like stepping into a festive retreat. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The menu was a treat for food lovers; I couldn't resist trying their homemade cheese pie, which was simply divine with its rich filling and perfectly baked crust.
Great traditional village pub vibe. Sunday roasts are excellent and well priced. Just a shame they don't serve food past half 5 on Sunday evenings (although understandable!) but they do offer dog friendly tables! Highly recommended.
Jack W — Google review
Visited here with family between Christmas and New Year as we were staying nearby and needed a dog friendly place to eat. We were more than impressed :)) The atmosphere was lovely with log burners in the front part of the pub- making it feel cosy and festive. The young girl behind the bar was lovely and friendly- as well as some of the local punters who were in there- they made the effort to chat with us and play with our little dog. The food was tasty and fresh and were generous portions. Would definitely recommend visiting here if you’re nearby. We would 100% go back!

We stayed in Fulford for a week. Visited here three times and couldn’t fault it any time. The food is absolutely gorgeous. Fresh ingredients, generous portion sizes and cooked to perfection. Special mention for the Sunday dinners, chicken fajitas and homemade cheesecake. The staff are extremely welcoming and lovely. This is a place you need to visit. Also bonus for being dog friendly !! Plenty of vegetarian options

During a recent visit to The Shoulder of Mutton in Fulford, I was delighted by the cozy atmosphere, enhanced by the warmth of a real log burner. The pub’s rustic charm provided the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. As a cheese enthusiast, I opted for the homemade cheese pie, which was a highlight of the meal. The rich, creamy filling encased in a perfectly baked crust showcased the chef’s skill and commitment to quality. An added bonus was the pub’s dog-friendly policy. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed in the bar area, making it an ideal spot for pet owners to enjoy a meal without leaving their furry companions behind. The combination of delicious food, a welcoming fire, and the inclusive atmosphere for dog owners makes The Shoulder of Mutton a standout choice for both locals and visitors seeking an authentic country pub experience.

We visited once Saturday lunchtime, it was busy and we hadn't booked but we only had to wait 20minutes for a table. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. For anyone who hasn't been before you order and pay at the counter. There is a great choice of food, all chicken variations, wraps, chips, dips etc. We really enjoyed our selections. Not posh but great especially for casual dining.

Good selection of Vegan and Veggie food. I had the Vegan chicken style strips, they were amazing. Ordering is so easy by scanning the QR code on the table, waiters were all very friendly, food arrived very quickly

The staff were very friendly. Even though we went at a relatively busy time, we didn’t wait too long for the food to arrive. The decor is really nice, everything looked really clean. I was kind of disappointed by the food. So we ordered the spiced chicken burger which was honestly amazing. There was so much flavour with every bite. We also ordered the great imitator burger. It was okay, the bun itself seemed quite old, there was not much flavour. The quantity was so small, it didn’t feel worth the price. Overall it was a good place. It would have been nice, if they had out more effort in the the imitator burger

First time I've been here but it definitely won't be the last. Both staff and customers were very friendly and the food was amazing Thank you so much we will definitely come earlier next time for the Sunday roast 😊

Having seen a post on Facebook about Thursday Pie Night (2 Pie meals for £15), and feeling exhausted after a long day, we decided to call in on the way home from work. We were the only people in the dining area so there wasn't much atmosphere, however there was some subtle music playing. In honesty I was grateful for the peace! The young lady serving us was really polite and attentive. The food was much better than we anticipated! Cheesy garlic bread was soft and tasty, and only £2.95! The chips were different than most other places and I would have personally preferred them to be thick cut and cooked in more oil, they were more like baked wedges but still pleasant. The star of the show was the steak and ale pie, which was packed with meat and in a deliciously thick Guinness gravy. £30 for 2 meals, 2 starters and 2 drinks us excellent value and we will definitely be coming back!

My uncle arranged a funeral wake here for my nan in 2019 and we got both rooms. This time we paid similar costs but only got one room, there wasn't enough chairs. Not only that we had such nice food in 2019. The warm and cold food were of such high quality. This time we paid nearly £400 at 8.50 per head for over 40 of us. There wasn't a very good selection of food. Couple of coctail sausages. The hot food was awful. Sandwiches were very basic. The pringles and food just looked like they had been bought from aldi or lidl. Not only that we were not told the room would be required back by 7pm. We were told at 10 to 7 and they binned our food that was left rather than offer us to take it with us. Ended up speaking to the staff about it to be told "the person who arranged it was aware it ended at 7" which isn't the case as I arranged this myself directly. I offered her to read the messages I have for the conversation. My mother has passed away and I've had to arrange her funeral myself at just 30 years of age and to end up in almost an argument with staff is not how I wanted my mothers wake to go. Truly devastated 💔 I wouldn't even rate this place one star after

I'm vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the roast dinner - everything was cooked beautifully, especially the veggies. The vegetarian gravy I asked for was a good flavour - not the gloopy stuff I often get. Yes I was surprised to see Quorn mince with a roast dinner but it was prepared really well. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing you need to be aware of (and this is whether you're vegetarian or not!) is the presence of stringent street parking restrictions. A lot of the spaces are permit only - including the car park 'round the back of the pub - and it is very zealously monitored. It IS possible to park, but just be careful.

The pub clearly needs some money spent on it, that said the landlord has made it a lot more homely and customer friendly than it was. Pet friendly and family friendly makes this place a great local pub of choice. It's clean and well kept by the staff. Again though with some money spent on it, especially the back room that no-one really uses, it could be even better.
