Bowhouse, located in St. Monans, is a market hall housed in a former barn that has become a culinary hotspot in the East Neuk region of Fife. The monthly artisanal food-and-crafts bazaar at Bowhouse attracts visitors seeking seasonally driven bakes and locally produced goods. The establishment aims to connect local producers with customers, shortening the supply chain and creating a community for those passionate about food.
Bowhouse Market weekends are my fav weekends of the year. LOVE the variety and quality of vendors and their wares. Buying from small passionate sellers is an absolute joy. And it’s not full of fake “local” farm produce, like you’d find in some city markets. I come home with bags and bags of delicious food, drinks, beautiful ceramics (a mug a market), and a full belly from the food trucks. You can’t beat it!! I love to visit on both days because there are stalls that are only there for one of the days. Honestly, love love love this market!!!
Milli A — Google review
A good variety of craft, food & drink vendors within a nice venue. Live music is a nice touch. Worth a visit if visiting the popular towns along the fife coast.
Dave M — Google review
Nice unusual place to stop for a break. A very tasty selection of beers amd ciders. Not sure how long it is there for but there was a very large art exhibition ? A few small places to buy different foods within The Bowhouse. Plenty of free parking. Customers toilets were nice and clean.
Steve A — Google review
Very disappointed with our visit. Baern café was shut, only the butcher appeared to be open in the market area, Futtle beer was open but the folk behind the bar didn’t seem interested in us and would same the same for the small kitchen shop. Overall a cold reception from the few places that were actually open. Drove over to Balgove Larder just south of St Andrews which was busy, vibrant, welcoming and absolutely teeming with food & goods to buy.
Ian P — Google review
Went to the farmers market weekend, what a fantastic afternoon we had, the stalls were lovely and all the produce looked so fresh. Bought a sausage roll, as we usually do. They are the best and most filling we've ever had, bacon and chicken was awesome. Definitely worth a visit, the street food and love band made it even better.
Ian P — Google review
Great place for a visit and to sample local produce. There was a large art gallery with works of art for sale during our visit. There is a marketplace with lots of different stalls selling a variety of local fare, food, drink and foodstuffs on at certain times of the month but not on this visit. The permanent shops however, we're open.
Berglas71 — Google review
The cafe presented an intriguing experience. The coffee's unexpected flavor profile, reminiscent of beer, was less than desirable. While the food was adequate, it did not stand out. The available shopping selections were somewhat restricted, leading to a slightly underwhelming overall impression. It is important to note that our visit occurred during a weekday, and the experience may be enhanced during market days.
Andrew F — Google review
Visited on a summer market day, great place to browse and buy from local artists, crafts people and producers. Everything from a bottle of gin, to a artisan sausage roll! The Futtle brewery is great as well (permanent fixture at Bowhouse) we grabbed some beers and all ate from a selection of street food vendors that attend market days.

Anstruther Fish Bar is a renowned seafood spot located in the tranquil village of Anstruther on the Scottish coast in Fife. The restaurant offers a picturesque setting overlooking the harbor and serves up delectable fish 'n' chips made from sustainably sourced haddock. In addition to their signature dish, they also feature local lobster and crab options for patrons to enjoy either on-site or as takeout.
You know you're in for a treat when you see the queue stretching down the harbor—and it's worth every second of the wait! The Anstruther Fish Bar is simply a Scottish institution for a reason. The fish is incredibly fresh, with a light and crispy batter that's cooked to golden perfection. The chips are thick, fluffy, and just begging for a generous splash of salt and vinegar. Enjoying your meal from the paper on a bench by the water, watching the fishing boats come in, is a quintessential coastal experience. The service is fast and friendly, even with the crowds, and the quality is consistently top-notch. It's more than just a chippy; it's a delicious, memory-making part of any trip to the East Neuk. Don't miss it!
S G — Google review
We’ve been coming up to Anstruther for years in the camper, and more often than not we’d find ourselves in the queue outside the famous Fish Bar. Years ago, the wait always felt worth it—the fish was generous, fresh, and paired perfectly with their always-delicious chips. Sadly, this visit left us underwhelmed. The chips are still very nice, no complaints there, but the fish itself was a real letdown. The portion was so small it felt like there was more batter than actual fish inside. Granted, the batter was tasty, but when the fish is meant to be the star of the show, it just didn’t live up to what it once was. The service also seems to have slipped a notch. Not terrible, but definitely not what it used to be when things ran like clockwork. All in all, it just didn’t have the same sparkle that made it worth queueing for in the past. Next year, we’ll probably give somewhere else a try. Still good chips, but sadly the Fish Bar has lost a bit of the magic it used to have.
Jamie K — Google review
We visited this place for a classic British meal and were not disappointed. The Fish and Chips was truly traditional and delicious—the batter was crispy, the fish was flaky and fresh, and the chips were perfect. The service was efficient and prompt, though perhaps not overly friendly or warm; they were definitely professional. What stood out immediately was how super clean the restaurant was. This attention to cleanliness is always reassuring and added to the positive experience. Highly recommended if you're looking for an excellent, authentic Fish and Chips in a pristine setting. Great food, great standard of hygiene!
Daniele L — Google review
Just go! A friend who used to live in Edinburgh recommended this place for fish and chips. I had the lemon sole and my wife had the traditional haddock. Both were excellent! The lemon sole was a little more flaky but a thinner filet. Both had excellent batter and the fries were great. A very, very good fish and chips!
Scott K — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Anstruther Fish Bar Had the Haddock Fish Supper and honestly — the best fish and chips of my life! The fish was perfectly golden and flaky, the batter crisp without being greasy, and the chips… just incredible. It’s honestly akin to magic, TBH. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. Worth the trip from Australia just to taste it! 💡 Tip: It can get very busy, especially during lunch and dinner rush, so aim to go close to opening time if you want to avoid the queue. An absolute must-visit — this is how fish and chips should be done.
Thomas O — Google review
On having a cottage break away with our dogs we thought we'd travel the 40 minutes to try the famous Anstruther fish bar. We were not disappointed. The best fish supper ive had. Really tasty batter and the freshest haddock the chips were fluffy and crisp on the outside. The wife went rogue and got halloumi sticks with chips and curry sauce. In her words the best chippy she's had. I had a side of homemade tattar sauce. It was all delicious. I can see why this is ranked the best. This will be a regular whilst in Fife.
Iain M — Google review
Called into the Anstruther Fish Bar on Friday afternoon very busy with sit in and takeaway although I was a fare bit back in the queue the young lass took my order and some 20 minutes later my order was ready. I ordered their traditional battered haddock 🐟 and chips 🍟 along with a breaded 🍞 lemon 🍋 sole 🐟 and chips 🍟. The breaded 🍞 lemon 🍋 sole 🐟 was plentiful with two lemon 🍋 sole 🐟 and a fare portion of chips 🍟. All of the above were tasty and delicious 😋. On the other hand the battered haddock 🐟 was a bit of a damp squib as there were three very small haddock 🐟 fillets in the box 📦 not their usual full on can't get it into the box single haddock 🐟, the chips 🍟 were good slight crispy on the outside and soft inside. Although I did notice that the takeaway box 📦 had shrunk somewhat in size to a very small oblong box 📦. All in all not the best experience we have had at this chippy and at a cost of just under £25. I'll be giving the Wee chippy a try next time we're in Anstruther.
Alex W — Google review
Not quite sure why people rave about this place. The fish and chips are good, but there was almost no fish under my crispy batter. Seems like I and the rest of the early customers got the odd bits and ends from the previous day… Disappointing really, as there are many other less ‘famous’ fish and chip shops where can get a full fillet and more chips for a lower price. Service was ok, cleanliness was fine

Balgove Larder, located just outside St Andrews, offers a diverse food experience with its farm shop, cafe, and steak barn. The farm shop features local produce and meat from the farm as well as global foods and wine. Visitors can enjoy sourdough pizzas from a mobile food truck converted from a shipping container, featuring toppings sourced locally. Additionally, the venue hosts a popular night market during the summer months with live music and crafts alongside Scottish food and drink.
Very easy to find and plenty of parking. The service was excellent and the food even better. The stake was cooked to perfection chips were crunchy and delicious. With a good selection of beers, would highly recommended coming here for food. Will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful meal 😀

Lovely place with delightful brekkie, coffee was awesome! Enough parking space, good selection of food items from freshly baked breads, premium selection of meat in the butcher, found specialty chocolates made in Scotland bought a haggis chocolate for a gift, they have stationery corner offers cute greeting cards, beautiful gift wrappers, wooden toys and books for kids, etc. they have everything you need for your holiday trip and self care essentials. Looooove this place and the staff were very friendly. Will definitely be back on our next trip to St. Andrews

About a 10 minute drive from the heart of St Andrews and you get welcomed by the barn-like larder, with herbs grown outdoors. Service is friendly and the coffee is good! Love the little store near the entrance. It has everything. Lovely ambience esp if you're sitting facing the windows looking out. Def will be back to try more of the items on the menu

On our way to another site, we took a wrong turn and chanced upon this lovely setting. The grocery looked wonderful with a great selection of locally sourced food. The review was for their food. We decided to try their food alfresco. I would sadly say that what we ordered was competent at best.

We had a great lunch the 3 of us ordered sandwiches and they were fantastic. We had a selection of teas and coffee and everything arrived in a timely fashion. We spent around 20 pounds and overall had a great experience. If you want wifi that is free and plenty of options for gluten free also.

Came last night for the burger - great quality, good vibes on a Friday night about 7pm (busy!) but great quick service. Recommend.
Tulsi M — Google review
Lovely wee farm with plenty of beautiful, organic, and handmade products; really enjoy our visit every time we come here. However, we were a bit disappointed with the butcher's. We’ve bought meat there three times, and on two occasions, the beef steak and pork ribs were unfortunately off and had to be thrown away. It would be great if the quality could be checked a bit more carefully in future.

Great choice of products and a cute cafe. The hot chocolate was super chocolatey, also the cakes all very rich in flavor and almost unfinishable. The scones were delicious too!

If you're looking for some good fish and chips in Dundee, then Tailend Dundee is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant serves up delicious seafood dishes, as well as gluten-free options if that's something you're interested in. Plus, the staff are very friendly and willing to help with any questions you may have.
I just had the most amazing lunch! I enjoyed a scrumptious fish taco with salmon and a delightful beetroot salad. The food was fantastic, and the vibe of the place was truly the icing on the cake. The restaurant is so authentic with beautiful decor on every wall. Even though it looks small from the outside, it opens up to more than 50 seats downstairs, making the experience really unique and immersive. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food and an unforgettable atmosphere! The portion size was really generous, and I had a Diet Coke with the fish tacos and the salmon pizza salad, all for around 28 pounds.

Lovely fish restaurant in Dundee’s city centre. Beautiful food and excellent service! The staff were really lovely, helpful and very accommodating even though we arrived late. My husband had the haddock and chips and said it was the best he’d ever eaten! I had the hot smoked salmon salad which was so fresh and tasty! Highly recommended if you want great food and service at very reasonable prices!

Great seafood place in Dundee city center!! The restaurant is in the basement. The top is the take out area. The waitresses are very friendly and hospitality. The seafood is very fresh and delicious. The place is small, so please make reservations before you go. We waited for 45 minutes and took a walk around the city center. Also, their oysters are running out quickly. Recommend to do a lunch or early dinner.

Visited the place during my day trip to Dundee last week. Awesome ! Thanks to the google review and recommendations , we decided to give it a try from a random pick. The sea-bass and haddock are fresh and chips are yummy! Love the simple deco in the restaurant. We have a joyful lunch there. Will definitely come back again if I visit Dundee.

This is a great place to eat fresh seafood, it is supplied by Spinks of Arbroath so the smokie should be tried. The tiger prawns were fabulous and the batter very good too. The downstairs has the restaurant and ground level has the takeaway. Feels a bit dark going down the stairs but the place is well lit and tables well spaced. Being under the pavement there are alcoves with seating as well as a bar for the drinks and pay station. The service was good and we didn’t have long to wait for our food. It can quickly fill up at tea time.
Joseph K — Google review
Best fish and chips in Dundee, the food arrived quickly and was presented in a fashion traditional to fish and chips.... The haddock was crispy, chips golden and crunchy, tartare sauce punchy, peas green 🙂. Yes my picture is of an empty plate and yes it was that good! Coffee was also very good.
Kerr M — Google review
One of the best fish and chip places in Dundee! Been there multiple times already usually on a Saturday for their fish and chips and their special £1 pound/ oyster deal. The batter on the fish is crispy and golden brown, providing a satisfying crunch with each bite. Portion size is generous and fries are fried evenly as well. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends and family. If you’re a fan of fish and chips, don’t forget to check out this restaurant :)

The cafe is known for its popular Bean Chilli Cheese Toastie and an assortment of vegan cakes, including a delectable salted caramel cookie sandwich. Visitors can also enjoy plant-based milks with their beverages.
The Fix Fife is a lovely little cafe in Burntisland. There's a good selection of snacks and drinks available.  The toasties we had were truly delicious  - amongst the best had anywhere! As well as the nice interior there are a few outside tables. Service was very warm and friendly. Recommended.

really good experience and atmosphere here with helpful and reliable service :) the bagels were delicious. Highly recommend the cheese toastie and salmon bagel. we also ordered hot chocolate, tumeric latte, matcha latte, vanilla latte, and a flat white. these drinks were perfect for the cold weather with the right amount of caffeine and oat milk. also, the brownie was moist and rich, one of the best brownies we've had in a while. the orange pistachio loaf was great too! highly recommend this establishment!!!

Abfab dog friendly cafe in Burntisland! Their Chicken and Mango toasties are the best toasties in Fife if not in the universe and their cappuccis are second equal best in Fife. Service is excellent. Highly recommended.

Have been coming to the fix for years and never let me down! The best spot there is! My local coffee and toastie dealer! Incredible service, coffee and baked goods! Will miss them loads but thank you for everything.
Robbie M — Google review
We have been visiting The Fix Café for quite some time now, and each visit has been met with a warm welcome and friendly smiles from every member of the team. Beyond the hospitality, the banana loaf and pistachio cake are truly among the best we've ever tasted in the region. The coffee is exceptional — so much so that we regularly travel from Dalgety Bay just to enjoy a cup here. It’s truly saddening to hear that the café will be closing in the coming days. We will greatly miss having a reason to visit Burntisland two to three times a week. Wishing you all the very best in whatever new journey lies ahead. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

One of the classic fine dining spots of St Andrews and has been for 15 years plus! Perched in a modern glass cube over the ocean, it has stunning sea views and super modern decor. The food is delicious- they offer a set menu for lunch which is usually worth doing (significantly cheaper than a la carte and just as delicious). Great ingredients, cooked simply but with flair and attention to flavour. We had a heritage tomato salad with goats cheese stuffed courgette flower, and confit sea trout in a seafood bisque. Amaaaaazing. Service is friendly and informed - great advice on wines and friendly ambience. Perfect for a special occasion.

This was the BEST meal we had on our week-long trip thru Scotland! Would happily come back again. Service was spectacular, great atmosphere and views, perfectly seasoned and cooked food. Highly recommend the white curry scallops (WOW! Have never had scallops with that kind of flavor) and crab spaghetti.

We went as a group of 4 was swiftly greeted and our coats taken, taken to our table and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We ordered our starters and received them very promptly within 7 minutes i got the tuna tartare and it was easily the best thing we got all night 10/10. We then went on to order our mains. I got the steamed halibut it was very delicious a tiny bit rich for my taste so i give it a 9/10. Then onto dessert i ordered the tiramisu i get tiramisu whenever i see it on a menu and unfortunately it was probably the worst one i have ever tried but that is my personal taste as i am not a big fan of rich strong chocolate flavours and it was immensely rich 2/10. A great experience the atmosphere is amazing, the staff are very professional and friendly at the same tim. Will definitely be back soon. 😊

We always love visiting the Seafood restaurant. Food is consistently good. I’ve never had a bad dish. Really high quality seasonal ingredients cooked well. No pretentious drama with foams, essences, dry ice etc. The food doesn’t need that, it speaks for itself. If you haven’t visited before the view is stunning, right on the water. The staff are excellent, they always give 5 star service that is seamless. We always look forward to returning, it’s fast becoming our favourite restaurant.

Fish and chips takeaway
Nestled in the charming West End of Anstruther's Shore Street, The Wee Chippy & Restaurant has earned a reputation as a must-visit destination for fish and chips lovers. This delightful eatery offers both takeout and dine-in options within its newly refurbished space, where you can savor traditional flavors served on classic metal plates. While it may be less known than some of its counterparts, The Wee Chippy boasts generous portions of freshly prepared dishes that are sure to impress.
A lot of expectation on this and absolutely delivered! Food was amazing. Fresh fish with crispy batter. Tasty chips. The smoked haddock a particular treat. The wait on a cool summer evening was only about 10 minutes but enough to see the final portion of crispy prawns disappear 🙁. The replacement calamari was delicious but no garlic sauce. Pickup your last minute beer and wine too! Overall though - just fabulous!

Excellent chippy, possibly the best we have ever had. Crispy batter on the fish, chips were perfection and so was all the sides. See our full video review on our experience under The Olive Tree Family on all social media platforms.

We had the battered haddock and chips with mushy peas and bread and butter served with a pot of tea which was excellent value at £15 each. The batter was nice and crispy and the haddock was very fresh. The chips were just how I like them, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The service was very friendly and I would recommend The Wee Chippy to everyone.
Cat S — Google review
A very atmospheric chip shop offering a variety of delicious meals with gluten free alternatives. A plentiful amount of food all for an extraordinarily cheap price. Possibly the greatest haddock and chips I have had ever! If you find yourself hungry in Anstruther, please come here.
Andrew B — Google review
Fish was lovely; especially lemon sole. Scottish Cod was lovely; with a moderate sized serving with no empty batter or over-battered section. Service excellent as was location. Chips were good (eg not greasy) but not excellent nor comparable to the fish.
David B — Google review
Complicated one to review ! The ordering system had stopped working ( a touch screen outside) we went in and ordered waited quite a long time considering it was a chip shop and we only wanted two portions of chips. We were then asked after about 5-6 minutes what our order was ! I was expecting really nice chips but unfortunately they were under cooked. Might just have been one of those days, but not what you would expect from a chip shop showing off its awards ! Shame !
Matt H — Google review
Had the most delicious Gluten free haddock and chips served with GF bread and butter, a pot of tea and even home made tartare sauce. I can honestly say that it’s the best GF fish and chips I have ever tasted. Separate GF sauces and vinegar too. My hubby had the normal haddock and chips and he loved it so much too! Thank you, we’ll be back soon x
Diane H — Google review
We normally go and stand in an enormous queue at one of the other Anstruther chippers but we decided to try the Wee Chippy for a change and have to say it was best fish and chips have had in a long time. We went for the breaded haddock which was lightly battered and not in the least bit greasy. Even managed to get a table in the restaurant, although I think we were a bit lucky as everyone that came in after got turned away so would recommend booking. It’s also dog friendly so will def be our chipper of choice on our next visit to Anstruther.

The menu, curated by Dundee-born chef Craig, showcases modern and classic Scottish dishes using the freshest local ingredients. With a focus on seafood and seasonal produce, the restaurant provides an exceptional dining experience for food enthusiasts.
My mother's favourite restaurant. As good as ever. Service cordial, unrushed and convivial. Food is just sublime, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour on every forkful. It's a joy to come back to Scotland for. Highly recommended.

An interesting spot for a meal with lovely harbour views. A bit of a trek from Edinburgh and probably very good for the area. Some worthy dishes, that were well presented. Overall a fair place to stop and have a meal.

I was lucky enough to have been given a voucher for the restaurant, without it, I'm not sure we would have gone. But, we are so glad we did. What a fabulous meal, every dish was delicious. From the Beetroot panacotta to the Chocolate tart with vanilla ice-cream and the Raspberry cheesecake with sorbet, via the cured sea trout, the twice baked cheese soufflé (wow!) the duck breast and the halibut. Everything was exquisite. The service was excellent, friendly, attentive and professional. Then to get a table by the window looking out over the harbour.... Loved it all

Very nice restaurant in the picturesque village of St Monans. Weather permitting you can sit outside, so you can bring your dog. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside. Excellent service. Food is great, a bit bigger portions would be nice. Advance booking is a must.

Beautiful setting, with excellent service and amazing food. Only rated 4 stars for atmosphere as the restaurant was quite quiet when we were there

Refined and delicious food served beautifully with excellent and reasonable wine selection by the glass. Could not hope for more! The soufflé was particularly amazing and the duck perfect

We were here for a 40th birthday. The food was fantastic! Lovely views out to the sea and the service was impeccable. Went for a drink afterwards in the little bar, very nice place to chat. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. I would definitely come back for a special occasion.

This is, without doubt, the best restaurant in the area. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is great. The tasting menu has wonderful flavours and variety. In London or Edinburgh you would pay twice the price for this quality.

East Pier is a popular seafood restaurant in the seaside town of St Monans, East Neuk. The menu offers mouth-watering dishes such as hot-smoked sea bass, fish tacos and lobster with tarragon mayonnaise. There's also a great selection of white wines and locally brewed IPAs to enjoy on the restaurants' sunny rooftop.
Best smoked salmon and chips we've ever had. It's our second visit here and we will return every time we're in Fife. It's worth booking ahead though as its very busy during the summer season.
Helen H — Google review
We got great weather and enjoy our seat outside. However the food standard didn’t match the expectation or price. With the fish and chips we were served oven processed chips, we were told after complaining they had ran out of hand cut chips during lunch service. If we had been told before ordering we would have definitely changed the order. We were still charged full price for both our fish and chips which was disappointing and poor service. As you can see below we also had the scallop starter which was £15 for 2 scallops
Lucy S — Google review
Amazing food, I recommend the Vietnamese fish kebab, it was amazing, tender, full of flavour and not overcooked! The scallops were so fresh. We are sitting in one of the tables outdoor under the porch admiring the coast. This is a very special place.
Katia M — Google review
We had a great experience and will definitely return the next time we visit the East Neuk. We sat outside and it was a lovely and peaceful atmosphere. The food (shared starters then main course) was very special, and delicious. Lovely drinks, stunning views. Got 2 x kids fish and chips which were perfect for 8 and 11 year old. The service was friendly, warm and efficient, but we never ever felt rushed. Thank you, and we will be back!
Emma B — Google review
Mostly this a note on reservations. I looked at the website multiple times, and it looked like they were only required for dinner. But when we showed up for lunch, they said it was reservation only. We ate in the outside area. It was ok weather, so it was still a nice lunch. The food is very tasty. But it would have been more pleasant to eat inside. (There's a lot of seaweed flies outside.) I peaked upstairs before and after our meal, the inside dining room was half empty both times. So it wasn't so much a matter of being fully booked. I think it's more that the reservation is just required to sit inside. So long story short -- make reservations for lunch. I think you will enjoy it much more.
Cara S — Google review
We came for lunch and the food was lovely. We had the mackerel pate and the roasted octopus - amazing! For mains we had the whole Lobster Thermidor 🦞 with chips and smoked king prawns 🍤 . The taste was unique on the smoked prawns but the Asian dip was nice 👌🏼. It gets busy so always best to book as they do not take walk ins x The staff are attentive and very friendly x

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Murray's Fish & Chip Shop & Restaurant is a beloved spot that draws in visitors from near and far. Customers reminisce about their college days in Dundee and how Murray's was worth the hour-long drive for its delicious offerings. The chippy is praised for its top-quality battered sausages, perfect chips, and ideal location by the sea. Despite some wait times, patrons find the food outstanding and well worth it.
Ordered fish and chips x 2 curry sauce and peas and it was all absolutely delicious. Piping hot when delivered. Highly recommended. Delivery was excellent.
Amanda G — Google review
I normally would not go past Murray’s ever for a fish supper but rather disappointed tonight mostly batter on my fish and hardly any chips compared to normal delivery .and the food was not hot enough . I have always had fantastic deliveries in the past but I am disappointed tonight with my food and actually shameful with the money spent in ordering a delivery . I hope things change and they take heed of this review for future quality of food . Linda Thomson

A great white pudding supper.Very popular with a queue, but well worth the wait. Sat eating it watching the sunset. Just beware of the gulls.

Very tasty, recommend One large fish & chips, one small fish & chips, curry sauce & 2 portions of ketchup £17.50 takeaway. Only given four stars as price could be lower.

Definitely not as good as it used to be. Chips were totally tasteless, battered sausage was soggy and bland. Fish was bland. Rolls were not fresh, hatd and stale , Tasteless. Waste of money

Don't know what the fish was but it had no flavour and was dry. Chips ok.

poor service! grumpy man behind the counter... glaring around at his customers.... waited way over half an hour for a chicken nugget kids meal, which was poor value for what we got :(

Visited on a lovely sunny evening. Q was out onto the street but decided to give it a go as hoping this would mean the food was really good. Took around 30 minutes from start to getting our food. Had a sausage supper which was eaten on the sea front a very short walk away. Was outstanding, batteted sausage was top quality and chips were perfect. Worth the wait. Prices on par with others.

When visiting the Dalgety Fish Bar, you might find yourself pondering what to order from their enticing menu. Are you someone who enjoys sticking to the classics with a traditional fish supper, or do you prefer to explore some of the more adventurous options available? During my recent visit, I opted for a delightful mix that included battered mushrooms and jalapeno poppers—though they took about ten minutes to prepare, they were well worth the wait!
What a great chippy, on holiday from Yorkshire so I know me chippies. Had Fish and Chips (with Salt and Sauce, got to up here) and it was spot on. Fish cooked well, right amount of batter, chips decent sized and tasty, most importantly a decent sized portion for a reet good price. Definitely worth a visit 😁👍
Ken R — Google review
£6.20 smoked sausage supper next to chilli sauce for size comparison. It was absolutely tiny. I did phone up and the staff member I spoke to was nice and polite but we were ultimately told sorry that's just the portion size. Not worth the money and still find it hard to believe that's the standard portion for a supper.
Louise M — Google review
We were tempted by the many positive reviews, but unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. The fish and chips we ordered were mediocre at best. The fish had a thick, hard coating of batter, and inside there was barely any actual fish — what little there was fell apart into dry shreds. It felt like it had been cooked the day before and just reheated the next evening. Such a shame, we had high hopes.
Kinga S — Google review
First time here, and they messed up the order. Gave ours away to another customer, and tried to pass it off with sauce on, which I don't like. So they made a fresh one. The food itself was really nice, chips were a bit chewy, but overall tasty. Service was OK, nothing over and above. We were served with a smile and it was efficient. The atmosphere was busy, as I'd have expected for that time of day. Maybe a little more customer focus and greeting upon arrival would be good. I'm sure we will be back, just a bit offputting as a new customer.
Keely H — Google review
It's a decent chippy, can be very busy at peak times so that tells its own story I suppose. Quite often its freshly cooked so not always the fastest turnaround but I would chose quality over speed every time.

£4.20 for half a smoke sausage £16 for a half filled munchie box. Not impressed and will not recommend anyone consider ordering takeaway food from here, absolutely ridiculous prices for what you get in return
Adam C — Google review
Not sure what went wrong here. Was rammed when we went in, and atmosphere was great. Food was not. Fish was greasy as were the fritters (could squeeze the grease out) chips were run of the mill and it was all a massive shame as we had high hopes.

Quite honestly one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had, had half a slice and binned the whole lot! looked like someone had shoved it in a backpack and gone for a run, hardly any cheese at all, the toppings were sliding off, mushrooms were raw, pizza base was sour! Just disgusting! Won’t be back.

Ox and Anchor, located in the heart of Anstruther, offers a delightful selection of street food with a modern twist. From their famous bacon and cheese beef smash burger to their lobster sandwich, they use only the finest local ingredients. The menu also includes options like potato hash with sea bass, prawn subs, triple-cooked hand-cut fries, and loaded fries. The establishment started as a van but now has a permanent location where patrons can dine in or take out.
I've been meaning to visit here for ages. Formerly, these awesome folk had a food truck in Pittenweem, but so pleased, they now have a restaurant in Anstruther. I had veggie spring rolls to start with a pretty epic soya sauce dip to accompany it. I then had a burger with haggis, which was pretty outstanding, and shared fries. My girlfriend had the Fish Burger and also loved it. Honestly, it's such an awesome wee place and also a great beer selection, too. Awesome place, great food, and superb service. I definitely will be back.
Scott J — Google review
Last minute decision to try this wee eatery on Sunday and managed to get a table for two. We were informed on arrival that the fries were off the menu as they had none left. Disappointed as wanted to try the dirty fries but there’s always the next time to try them as will definitely be back. The hotdog was fantastic and was very filling and so was the burger. Extremely tasty with multiple ingredients not just a burger and onions on a roll. Also had a side order of very very tasty chicken wings with a bbq sauce and a honey sauce. Don’t be fooled by only having fish and chips when in anstruther, this is the place to go for food.
Claire — Google review
Been meaning to visit for a while after rave reviews from friends and social media. Lastnight we were not disappointed! Superb food! Easily the best hot dog I've ever had! Flavour combinations of food are delicious and the coating on the cauliflower wings and Mother Clucker burger is awsome! Drinks menu was a nice surprise......enjoyed a classic fave cocktail and my first ale, after some advice from the friendly waiting staff! Will for sure be back! Awsome to have this on our doorstep!

Delicious burgers. We had the dirty Scotsman and the classic ox with fries to share. There's a lot of eating in the burgers , great quality ingredients . Will definitely be back 😀
Charlene D — Google review
Whilst a modestly small venue, the atmosphere and dishes on offer had something for everyone. Travelling up to see my brother, I've been scarce and we said we would have one treat meal in the week and boy did we choose well. The Ox and Anchor had such a nice touch to it that was modern and distinguishable. I absolutely loved the names of the meals on the menu - give that person a raise! 👏 The caffeinated cocktail (according to my brother) didn't taste strong enough for what he ordered according to him, but I was more than happy with my meal, with starters and with drinks on offer. The Dirty Scotsman I believe it was called was absolutely delicious. Recommend a small party as they did well to accommodate all of us at lunch time and maybe give them a decent heads up for 8 pluses. Staff were lovely, toilet very clean and all friendly for the kiddies as well. Thank you all. Our treat meal was fantastic and stuck out as a great memory in Anstruther.

Fantastic food and good choices on menu and a couple of specials which I had buttermilk chicken onion rings bacon jam . Cauliflower wings were delicious. Good choice of local beers and great staff

Fine friendly service. Delicious smashed burger with pulled pork. Dirty chips with large juicy well cooked prawns - so delicious we ordered more! Nestled in Cowdenbeath, New Peking Inn stands as the town's oldest family-run Chinese takeaway, embodying a heartwarming tradition of familial collaboration. When you step inside for a collection, you'll witness generations working side by side—mums assisting, sons cooking, and younger family members lending a hand. During our visit from Glasgow, we decided to try their takeaway despite some mixed reviews but were pleasantly surprised!
We were up visiting from Glasgow and got a takeaway from New peking inn. We were nervous due to some of the reviews but had no reason to be. All the food was cooked perfectly and was nicer than some of the Chinese takeaways in Glasgow at half the price! Quick delivery, lovely delivery driver and even got free prawn crackers and fortune cookies!
Stacey B — Google review
Disgusting behaviour from the staff when we phoned to tell them they messed our order up, they eventually agreed to send a new order out. To which we phoned 45 minutes later to find out where it was to be told the driver broke down on a motorway. Staff were vulgar. My partner phoned first time to be screamed at by the male owner. When I phoned I never got listened to just spoken over. The outcome was we never recieved our full delivery. 110 percent would not recommend these guys if you have a problem with your order

Joanna M — Google review
Cannot say about the food because it’s been 2.5 hours since I ordered from Dunfermline eats and the food still hasn’t arrived. Tried to call the restaurant 5 times and no one has answered the phone which is disappointing. Started out with a 1 hour delivery timescale which after 40 minutes jumped to 2 hours. I understand being busy on a Saturday evening, but this is a bit ridiculous
Alex J — Google review
Ordered the 10” boneless munchie box and I think there was more salt in it than chicken or chips it was like they emptied a grit box into it and I would give it 0 stars but 1 is the lowest you can go
X0SK3L3T0N — Google review
Food was ordered at around 6pm but didn’t show until well after 8pm, despite the delivery time being changed in the app from 6:50pm, to 7:30pm and then to 7:50pm. Several phonecalls to them asking where it was, only to be told each time, “It’s on its way”. Food was very bland to the point it was tasteless, despite asking for “Spicy” and portion size wasn’t great either. Only thing going for it was the temperature of the food. Won’t be using them again.

The Wok Inn Rosyth is a Chinese takeaway that stands out as the sole choice for many due to its delectable cuisine and generous portions. Their delivery service is commendable, with friendly drivers who promptly inform customers of the estimated time of arrival, usually adhering to this timeframe. I ordered from them due to good reviews however, my chicken and black bean sauce was 3/4 peppers and 1/4 chicken. Sauce was nice i have to say, maybe a wee bit over salty... I enjoyed my meal but the chicken/veg ratio is WAY OFF. I dont think I'll order again. Oh... and no free prawn crackers.... is that a thing these days? Any order I've made has come with prawn crackers, if i wanted them or not. 🙅‍♀️ Definitely should have gone to the Pheonix or Camdean but thought I'd give this place a try. Doh!

I bought a chicken egg fu yung with fried rice and a portion of curry sauce today 24/092025 at around 5pm. The curry sauce and the fried rice are fine but when it came to the chicken egg fu yung the chicken was still raw so I took it back for a replacement and the man serving said I should have asked for it well done. Wow that’s a new one! The whole point of cooking chicken is that it should be cooked thoroughly with no pink bits showing otherwise you get salmonella and other illnesses. Never again will I go back there for any type of food. The serving area is dirty and the kitchen hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. AVOID THIS TAKEAWAY AT ALL COSTS IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH.

Dreadful food. Chicken in batter was mushy. Sweet and sour sauce had an odd saccharine taste to it. BBQ ribs were tough as old boots and the prawn toasties tasted like they were cooked in oil that had been reused way too many times. Avoid!

We where recommend the Toast Shack on our visit to St. Andrews and we where not disappointed. Beautiful toasties and the ladies serve with a friendly smile on their faces and chat away! Excellent all in. The picture of the toastie i took doesn't do it justice. We will definitely be back next time we visit St. Andrews.

My friend and I drove through from Perth and it was well worth the journey!! Went up to order the buffalo chicken one to unfortunately be told they’d ran out, but no fear, I ordered us both the OG mac n cheese one. All I can say is WOW, it was so nice — for £6.75 the portion is generous. I’ll definitely come back!! Nice service too. Thank you :)

The perfect Scotland beach experience. Everybody told us when you come to St. Andrews. You must eat a toasty near the beach. We did and we don’t regret it. They are delicious and they taste about the way that they look cheesy crunchy and tons of flavor. Figure out the front counter tremendous customer service. All students from the local university. Will definitely recommend this place and come back the next time we’re here. It is very popular so there will be a line. Just be patient because it the weight is worth it. The milkshakes are delicious so are the pastries. The view is tremendous and completely worth the chilly day to eat a toasty near the beach.

Really good at what they do… toasties, milk shakes and fun. They’ve nailed this little corner of St. Andrew’s and always have a quiet outside that moves quickly as these guys have the process down pat.

The toastie was incredible! I was visiting St. Andrews and was told that this little shack was one of the highest rated and reviewed places in the city so I had to check it out! I ordered the famous Mac and Cheese Toastie and the Red Leicester. Out of those both, the Red Leicester takes the cake! It’s the perfect blend of salty and sweet with the sweet chili jam!! Highly recommend! Also in speaking about perfection, the bread is toasted perfectly! Nice solid crunch but still soft! Staff are also wonderful 🤗 don’t miss an opportunity to check this little gem out!
Michael J — Google review
I'd love to add photos, but we got our food, found a spot to sit and scoffed our toasties shamelessly! 🙄 Easy ish to park, very much one out one in type busy! 2 queues, one to order, one to wait for food... We didn't wait long, it's all very quick and efficient, even though it was very busy... We ordered the macaroni toastie and a ham/cheese/pickle, with cans of juice. Huge toasties, thick gorgeous break, stuffed full with delicious hot yumminess 🥰 There is an optional "seagull insurance" which is a genius idea! £1 extra to cover you for a free replacement should the demon seagulls steal your lunch (proceeds go to charity (this month is breast cancer)). Seagulls were around and clearly quite cunning but we're easily shooed away!! (They'd need to be faster and smarter to steal my lunch 🤣) We sat on the wall at the beach and people watched but there's loads of benches, a play park etc... Amazing lunch, thank you! We thoroughly enjoyed our stop during our day out!

Finally visited after hearing all the hype for years. Service was very fast and friendly. Took less than 5 minutes for my Mac and cheese toasty to be ready. It was massive and at around £6-£7 I felt good value. It was nice although for me personally felt like there was missing something. They do provide add ons so maybe if I had that one again I’d add chorizo or something, think some spice might be just the ticket. Also keen to try the buffalo chicken one. Lots of seating nearby, either on benches or just the grass overlooking east sands. Overall good experience and would try again.

Nestled in the charming coastal village of Elie, The Old Ship Inn is a beloved local pub that has been serving patrons for over three decades. Renowned for its vibrant beach cricket scene, visitors can enjoy watching matches while sipping on refreshing drinks as children frolic on the sandy shores nearby. The welcoming atmosphere created by owner Rab and his dedicated staff makes it an ideal spot for gatherings, whether it's a charity event or a special celebration like an engagement party.
The owner of the Ship (Rab) has had this great friendly pub for longer than the 33yr that Iv been legal to drink. All of my family have had many functions in the treasure trove at the back of the pub over the years and Rab is always so obliging and makes you feel so welcome. A better pub and proprietor you won’t find.

Always call in here when visiting family. This is the first time here since the bar has been taken over. They’ve done a great job with the refurbishment which is almost complete. Good selection of beers. Draft beer very good quality. Was a bit concerned about a review about watered down drinks but our drinks certainly weren’t watered down. Once the refurb is fully finished this place will be a local gem. Would recommend this bar for a great welcome and good beer 👍🏻

1.5 hours for a main rice and chips to be delivered ordered at 7:20 received 8:50pm. Salt and chilli Chicken breaded which is usually battered in most Chinese, was soggy because I got sauce on meal and took that long to be delivered. Iceland bags are better, and salt and pepper chips cold and stale no crunch to them at all. Hardly any seasoning, no peppers onion etc in them. Got a beef and tomato fried rice and i wanted a very mild chicken curry with boiled rice came to £17.40 which i thought was dear.It costs £2. 90p for fried rice boiled rice £2.50 £6.00 for each main course. The curry was very hot and only unions in it no peas or anything else in it and the sauce was almosy jelly like so only ate half of it the beef and tomato was good though but for the same meals at friendles in inverkiething its about £14.50.so will not be back to this take away There was an old couple that had that takeaway a few years ago and they were brillisnt the chicken chow mein was excellent so were most meals from them

Bought shredded chicken in honey chilli sauce. The water out the tap is thicker! Disgusting soggy chicken. Binned! Will never buy from here again

Really excellent food, honestly the best Chinese I've had locally, it was all crispy and tasty, not greasy like Chinese sometimes can be. They sent free spring rolls, and also gave me a voucher for money off my next order when I contacted them about a minor issue I'd had with the delivery. Great service, great food. Oh, and delivery was good too.

One of our mains was missing and when I called the lady was so helpful and apologetic. They sent the main along with some extras. Will definitely be back as this is by far the best service I've ever had from a Chinese restaurant. Thank you so much. ❤️

If you're on the lookout for a delightful culinary adventure, Yummy Yummy Chinese is your go-to spot! This eatery boasts an impressive selection of traditional Chinese takeaway options alongside Cantonese specialties, Japanese chow mein, Malaysian Raffle dishes, and even Thai curries. With such a diverse menu, there's truly something to satisfy every palate. Families will appreciate the simple kids' meals designed for picky eaters.
Had a hankering for a dish containing chestnuts so ordered one that listed chestnuts a main ingredient, It came without any. We'd also ordered a portion of chips, didn't get those either. The food was otherwise very good and the spring rolls were the best i've had so i've given 4 stars rather than 3 that I feel it would have otherwise deserved. Mixed feelings.

Yummy Yummy!!!!Me thinks NOT,more Yucky yucky.I decided as it was a nice night I would go pick it up.The shop is dirty and definitely in need of TLC,the staff serving were lovely however and that's all that was good about my meal.I ordered Duck in Peking sauce which was extremely overcooked and chewy,so much so that after two bits I gave up.The sauce was too sweet and the whole thing was far too salty. The chips were soggy but at least edable.Wont be rushing back

I live down south. When in Fife, this Chinese was the nicest I have found for years. However in a matter of a few weeks the quality and quantity have seriously gone below expectations! And they have had the cheek to put up their prices!! I know the cost has gone up on everything, but the last thing anyone expects from a takeaway is for standards to drop! Can't see this place lasting much longer if the standards dont improve!

Absolutely rubbish. Ordered food at 6.30pm. Was told because busy it will be delivered at 8.05 pm. Its now 9.30pm still no food or anything can't even answer the phone. My child fell asleep waiting! Will not be ordering again from there. Edited at 10.15pm. Stillno food or answer. I expect a refund this is not the way to do business. Why take on so many orders when you clearly can't cope.
Katarzyna D — Google review
Placed order and never arrived. Took my money and didn't even let us know it would not be coming. Absolute disgrace. Don't order from here, I certainly won't be. Absolute joke, lost a good customer because of their treatment
Andrew K — Google review
Great value, some dishes can be a little greasy but so far everything we have had has been tasty. We've been about 5 times now so can't be too bad....

Very disappointed. Ordered meal and wrong sauce delivered. Called and was told correct sauce will be delivered. Over an hour later still no sign of it. Meal ruined as now cold, waste of money.
WENDY M — Google review
Absolutely abysmal service ordered at 635pm was told delivery 805, 830 came so I phoned and was told it was just leaving and would 30 mins , I stay a 5 min walk away, 9pm no food so tried phoning again no answer for almost 2 hours food turned up at 1055pm almost 4 and a half hours later, phoned again still no answer so I took food back the next day wont give me refund as ordered through just eat owner wouldnt even talk to us just rolled his eyes when my wife spoke to him and left it to his drivers to deal with us, worst takeaway service I've ever had will never use again, I can completely understand in the current situation that places are busy but you shouldn't take on orders if you cannot deal with what you have

Walk into the shop and the smell of gorgeous freshly baked food hits you! Really friendly member of staff who served us, very affordable local bakery. My stovy pie was 10/10, my family had a piece of quiche, a steak pie and a macaroni cheese pie, all of which loved their food. Absolutely amazing!

The Cottage Window Cafe is a delightful takeaway spot located in the picturesque Silverburn Park. Housed in a 19th century cottage, it offers a charming outdoor setting where friendly staff serve up amazing coffee, fully loaded hot chocolates, fresh scones, and irresistible cheese toasties. Visitors can enjoy their treats at wooden tables while taking in the beautiful garden and sea views.
This wee outdoor cafe does the best cheese toasties ever. The flat white coffee is also great. It's served from a hatch, and there are wooden tables to sit at and enjoy the gardens and sea views.

Brilliant idea: run a café in a busy park and close for lunch. We arrived hungry, grabbed a table, kid buzzing for food… then find out they’ve shut the window because it’s lunchtime. Genius. Never seen a café so committed to not serving people.

Lovely little place to get some food before or after a walk around silverburn. Highly recommend their cheese scones. Great prices and great food!

Came across this lovely idea for a cafe, seats outside and benches nearby in the sun at Silverburn campsite. The cheese scone and the fruit, with jam and cream were light fluffy and delicious! Lovely coffee and all very reasonably priced. Don’t write many reviews but scones are worth mentioning 🥰
