The Ivy Castle View is an upscale restaurant offering British cuisine and craft cocktails, with a patio that provides stunning views of Guildford Castle and the River Wey. The restaurant boasts a classy interior and is known for serving some of the best food in the region. It's popular among tourists seeking an authentic English experience, especially for its Afternoon Tea. As part of the Brucan Pubs group, it offers good-value set menus and slow-cooked dishes.
The Ivy Castle View in Guildford offers an exceptional dining experience, blending outstanding service, exquisite cuisine, and a prime location with stunning views of Guildford Castle. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is warm and inviting, striking a perfect balance between sophistication and relaxation. The elegant décor and thoughtfully designed interiors create an atmosphere ideal for both special occasions and casual dining. One of the highlights of our visit was the impeccable service provided by Spencer. His professionalism, attentiveness, and friendly demeanor elevated the entire experience. His deep knowledge of the menu and commitment to ensuring a seamless dining experience truly set the standard for hospitality. The menu offers a delightful selection of dishes, each prepared with precision and presented beautifully. Absolutely delightful restaurant with staff exactly the way they should be; welcoming, and classy and with the ability to only come to the table when required. Service is absolutely first class. The menu is very good, with a good selection of dishes from appetisers to mains. If you have allerigies, you simply scan the QR code on the menu to deterimine what you can enjoy, simply by ticking the box of the product the food contains. There was a lack of choices for people with allergies though. The dessert menu was full of appealing choices, making it hard to determine what was chosen. Again, for allergens, you scan the menu, but i didn't find any desserts at all coming up, just the main menu. The atmosphere is that of a lively place, and the dress code with price brings in a particular type of client. It had been noted when booking that a party member was celebrating their birthday and that they had allergens, and provided a little something extra for the birthday girl. This was above and beyond service that I expected and was really very kind and generous. Overall everybody in the party had a great time that will be remembered for a long time.

I came here today just for cream tea for two with my mum. It was a gift from friends for my 50th birthday. The weather was beautiful today lovely and sunny so we chose to sit outside on the balcony terrace which had some lovely views. We had breakfast tea which was refilled and three scones each presented on a little stand. These were served warm with a separate dish of cream and jam along with a small dish of freshly cut up strawberries. This was a perfect amount of food and drink. The atmosphere was perfect. Inside the restaurant the decor was stunning even in the washroom it was beautiful with flowers on the ceiling. I will definitely be returning here for a meal next time as the food looked amazing. Highly recommend it here.

Had an exceptional lunch at The Ivy in Guildford, thanks to Spencer’s outstanding service. From the warm welcome to the perfect timing throughout the meal, Spencer made the experience feel effortless and enjoyable. The house prosecco was a standout – crisp, refreshing, and the perfect pairing for a relaxed midday treat. The starters were beautifully presented and bursting with flavour, setting the tone for a lunch that felt special from start to finish. I’ve already given The Ivy a 5-star review before, but this lunch, thanks to Spencer and the consistently excellent food, deserves another mention. A perfect way to spend the afternoon.

We celebrated a birthday at The Ivy in Guildford and it was unforgettable, thanks largely to Spencer’s exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, Spencer made us feel special, warm, and truly cared for – his attention to detail and genuine hospitality stood out in every interaction. A highlight of the evening was the birthday dessert paired with champagne – elegant, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. It wasn’t just about the food (though it was wonderful), but the way Spencer made the celebration feel unique and personal. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, turning what could have been just a meal into a memory we’ll treasure. I’ve already given The Ivy a 5-star review before, but this experience deserves another one, this time with a special mention to Spencer. Thank you for making a birthday celebration truly exceptional.

Amazing view, great atmosphere, lovely service, a perfect breakfast. What more could you ask for? A special thank you goes to Mia for making us feel so welcome and for the birthday surprise! ☺️🙏

Service was very slow. Servers were not attentive at the very slightest. The amount of times we tried to get their attention and were ignored unfortunately. Also pretty hard to share a dollop of 1 ketchup and 1 mayo between 3 people lol. Asked for more and never got back to us. The food was nice though. We got the fish and chips, the squids and the poached eggs with salmon. I want to note this for all those that eat halal - the manager said the food is not halal and has never been halal and received confirmation from the chef. This was shocking because I have been here numerous amount of times over the years (also this is the first time I’ve seen this manager) and have been told the chicken is halal. So I was not happy with being told one time it is and one time it isn’t. However most recently I can confirm it is not halal.

Lovely decor, beautiful food, just bit quick to clear table and bit noisy, but I think it was a celebration at another table!

Nestled in the heart of Guildford, The Seahorse is a spacious pub that beautifully combines traditional charm with modern comforts. With its exposed beam rooms and parquet floors, it offers a cozy dining experience that's perfect for families and friends alike. The seasonal menu showcases authentic English cuisine, featuring delightful dishes that are well-presented and flavorful. While one dish may have missed the mark during my visit, the attentive staff quickly addressed the issue by offering replacements or complimentary desserts—an impressive display of customer service.
One of the Best Sunday lunches, I have had in a long time. We ordered the triple roast , and the beef duo. Followed by mini desserts. All perfect

Second time visiting the Seahorse an food has been great both times. They do a good weekday 3 course deal for under 30 quid. Our server Josh was super friendly and helpful!

Came with my mother and grandmother for a Sunday meal out. Straight away the decor and atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. All the staff were so lovely and were patient with us. The food that came out was exceptional. Our waitress emainie (I think how it’s spelt) was so sweet especially. I definitely wish to come here again with other family.

Absolutely incredible evening. The food, the atmosphere, the friendly workers- everything was thorough and impeccable. Our waitress that evening, Emanie, made us feel welcome and accommodated to our every need, ensuring the night went smoothly and making sure we had a great evening with minimal disruption. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. The service at this place is absolutely unbeatable. Definitely recommend!!!!!

I recently had dinner at The Seahorse in Guildford and was honestly blown away by the whole experience. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated which set the tone for a lovely evening. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting and the staff were friendly and professional throughout. I started with the pan fried scallops and they were incredible. Perfectly cooked soft and buttery with a beautiful balance of flavour from the roast butternut and wild garlic salsa verde. Every bite showed real care and attention to detail. For my main I had the surf and turf with chive mashed potato and it was easily one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The fillet steak was cooked rare just as recommended and was tender and full of flavour. The prawns were rich and delicious and the chive mash was smooth creamy and perfectly seasoned. Everything came together perfectly on the plate. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Our waitress Emanie was amazing throughout. She made great recommendations helped us choose our dishes and made sure everything was just right. She was attentive kind and genuinely cared that we had a great evening. The Seahorse is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic food and an even better team. A huge thank you to Emanie and everyone there for making the night unforgettable. I will definitely be coming back soon.

Amazing place with a great selection of meals. Staff were amazing as my wife and I enjoyed our meal next to the fire. Plenty of parking on a Saturday night.

This was a small family birthday lunch. We booked the day before and took up a good two mains for one offer. Service and meal were very good. We had a good variety of dishes between the four of us. Our host and his wife hadn't been there before and were very positive.

Great pub with wonderful staff. I was served by a dashing chap called Andre. True to his namesake he was giant help when deciding upon what to order. There were also two Josh’s who were really helpful and the older of the two was rocking curtains which I felt to be fitting as he was clearly the star of the show given his charisma and whit behind the bar. An honourable mention to Lewis who is always helpful and friendly. Went back for a pint Emanie service with a smile personified.

Nestled in the picturesque village of West Clandon, Surrey, the Onslow Arms is a traditional pub and restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. The establishment boasts a smart yet cozy ambiance with wooden beams and stripped flooring, complemented by an impressive brick facade and mock Tudor features. The pub's award-winning menu features hearty roast meats, grilled fish, vegetarian options, and delectable desserts. Guests can also enjoy live music in the garden while savoring their meals.
Absolutely gorgeous pub, full of character. The staff were all amazing really attentive and friendly. I had the beef roast and honestly never had beef that tasted so good! Can't wait to go back!

Had a very enjoyable dinner at The Onslow Arms with some friends from work this evening. I had forgotten how beautifully presented it is inside and out, a proper high class Surrey pub/restaurant. Of course they serve Shere Drop too! The service was friendly and welcoming and the food from the new Autumn menu was delicious. We had the fish & chips, the pork chop and the chicken pie. Will be back with my other half very soon. Recommended.

No wait at all, despite a busy sunny Sunday lunch. Very accommodating and welcoming staff. They moved us to another table when we asked to be in a sunnier spot, Very efficient service all round. A special mention to our waiter Justin who was so attentive and helpful with a joyful personality. We had the roast beef and chicken. Both delicious, followed by a shared cheese plate. Just perfect. This place was recommended by a rambling friend and glad she did. We'll be back.

We were a group of 8 adults with 2 small children. We’d booked for an early dinner, outside and were given 2 high chairs as requested. We were very warmly welcomed. Food was great, especially the pies and fresh fish (whole plaice and sea bass fillet) Beer and wine were also very good. Maybe our fault for not ordering refills sooner but we had a bit of a wait for drinks after the food arrived. We’ve coming here for years and will be back again. Highly recommended

Had a lovely Sunday roast which we booked last minute for 5 o'clock, Plenty of roasts all available. Lovely friendly waitress Mia served us. Bubbly and not too busy to engage with our table. Clearly loved working there and happy to talk about her day. Andrew greated us upon arrival and spent time with us at the end of our meal even going above and beyond to try and get us a little taster of the sticky toffee pudding. Food was gorgeous, perfect portion size and not heavy at all. Very reasonably priced with a lovely atmosphere. Thank you x

British restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Cafe
Bill's Guildford Restaurant is a contemporary European chain offering separate menus for breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner. It is part of the Angel hotel, located in a beautiful old coaching inn in the center of Guildford. The restaurant is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and kids' breakfast menu. Founded by Greengrocer Bill Collinson in 2001, Bill's has expanded to 81 sites across the UK.
We went to Bill's on a Saturday evening for dinner. Our party included two people with food sensitivities, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that we could safely enjoy our food. The food itself was lovely. The only tiny snag was that our desserts and coffee came out in a bit of a strange order, and essentially we couldn't all eat together as the ice cream was melting - I had finished my dessert by the time the others arrived, and my friend's coffee came well before his dessert.
Kay Y — Google review
Pros The host/server at the entrance (a tall man with dark hair and a non-English accent) allowed me to amend my reservation for later. Whilst staying at The Angel Hotel, the WiFi wasn’t working at the time, so I couldn’t do it online. I was sat down quickly, checked on, given water to start, and given ample time to decide what to order. Communication was great as the server offered me a substitution for a type of whisky they didn’t have. The food had good flavor and the spiciness was actually spicy, contrary to other ‘spicy’ dishes I’ve had in Europe. Another server waited on me (average height blond woman with glasses and nicely manicured nails), who was lovely. When I finished my meal, she asked if I’d like another order or dessert which made me feel very welcome. Her energy was great. Cons The original server I met at the entrance wasn’t warm at first, (though he was cordial) and I almost didn’t dine here because of that. He did eventually warm up and could’ve just been having a day. I try to give others grace-within reason. I was sat right in front of a cart with glasses that clanked loudly when the servers would handle them. Upon entering, I requested a seat at one of the booths in the main area, yet the server (the man) stated that whole section was reserved. My only critique is to have large reservations in a separate area, or some sort of demarcation/sign for clarification. The food was a bit cool, though since it’s Lent season and I’m fasting from 0600-1800, I went ahead and ate it as was. Additionally about the food, the sauce (고추장 gochujang) for the sticky duck salad and Korean loaded fries had too much sugar. I recommend having all sauces on the side for the customer to decide how much they want on their meal. Ultimately, I would dine here again, though not as my first choice.

Heaps better than expected. It’s been years since returning and sure service is a little slow but they’re busy and all super friendly. Food was huge and all pretty tasty, perfectly cooked (avo could be fresher) , nice decor and lots of veggie and vegan options ✨🙌

Been to a few Bills restaurants and this one was a very good experience. Very friendly staff and quick service despite the restaurant being super busy. Really convenient location right in the town centre and close to the local theatre for a pre show meal. Food was great quality, had chicken wings and duck fries which were really tasty and the brunch burger was huge and delicious. Juices are fresh and well made. Can pay your bill online after using qr code on the table so no waiting around when you finish.

We were lucky to bump into bill’s right when they were having their bottomless pancake week and we had a wonderful experience! The pancakes were phenomenal. Taste, texture, and temperature were perfect and the toppings were generous and delicious especially the he whipped cream that comes with all flavors. But what stole the show for us was the hospitality we received from Abden our kind and welcoming host! They have their bottomless pancake offer running until the 3rd of October so definitely give this place a visit if you can! The offer aside, everything about this place makes us want to visit again.

A fairly nice place. Staff were very friendly and service was very quick. The place felt crowded and cramped, but not too noisy. The full English I had was not perfect, since it was missing bacon. The mushrooms were not amazing.

Hosted a mid-scale charity event, which required a lot of logistical planning. The staff were incredibly welcoming and worked very well with the complexity of the event. All the diners were very impressed with the food. We were place in a lovely spacious area, that worked well with our needs. Huge thank you to Owen, an administrator who helped organise the event.

Nestled right next to the iconic Guildford Castle, The March Hare is a charming split-level brasserie that beautifully marries the warmth of a traditional English inn with the chic elegance of a French eatery. Recently revamped, this delightful spot features stripped wooden floors and an inviting deck terrace, perfect for enjoying al fresco dining while soaking in picturesque views.
We though this place was great. Excellent dinners (plaice, and duck), comfy and cozy seating, even got to read a bit of a book published in 1899. Nicely decorated, playing on the hare theme. But note, they refused to take cash what is the world coming to we will deserve our fate my friends.

We had a great dinner with some guests who are in town. Booked in advance as I know it can get busy on weekends during the summer months. Great service from the team and the atmosphere was good. If you want to be able to sit and have a conversation I would avoid eating in the upstairs part of the restaurant as it was very noisy. In terms of food my main, the duck special, was OK but the rest was good. We all had starters and mains each then shared some desserts. Including wine/beers I thought it was reasonably priced.

Mixed Experience – Disappointed with the Food My wife and I visited The March Hare this evening after hearing good things from friends. Although we didn’t have a reservation and the restaurant was quite busy, we were promptly seated in the bar area by a very pleasant staff member, which we appreciated. We ordered the Rump Steak and the Lamb Shoulder Roulade. The steak was requested medium-rare but arrived more on the rare side. I didn’t send it back, as I don’t mind a rarer steak, but it’s worth noting. Unfortunately, the lamb dish was quite underwhelming. While the meat was tender, it lacked flavour and the lamb jus was very watery (as shown in the photo). For a £25 dish, we had expected better quality and execution. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and décor, and it's clearly popular with locals. However, the food didn't live up to expectations. Service was satisfactory, though we did notice that no one came to check on us after our meals were served, which was disappointing. Overall, while we appreciated the setting and initial welcome, we left feeling disappointed. Not sure if we’ll be returning.
Mark H — Google review
Went for dinner with my husband. The restaurant was very busy, and we had to find a table ourselves in the bar area. While the staff member at the bar was friendly, the overall service was quite casual—no one checked on us after our food was served. I had the lamb (£24), which was unfortunately bland, and my husband ordered the steak (£26) medium rare, but it came out quite rare. Prices were already on the high side, and there was an additional 10% service charge. Overall, the food and service didn’t live up to the price, and I don’t feel like we’ll be returning.

Nice pub with generally friendly staff. Don’t order the chateaubriand sharer! It says 14oz on the menu. Ours came and it was about 6oz, not enough for 1 let alone 2. Staff disinterested when we asked if that was a full portion. It came with 2 halves of a very dry overcooked tomato. Real shame. Other food that was ordered was pretty good but this one was a complete let down and one to avoid!
Rich S — Google review
I don’t normally write reviews but I would like to share a positive experience! I had the beef and ale pie and it was devine - lovely atmosphere in the conservatory and an attentive, charming waitress Grace who hadn’t been working there long but got it down to a T. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, good margaritas too!

Very good food and ood service. We had the Gressingham duck breast, Dressed Devon crab, Whole bream and the 7 Oz fillet. The Bream and the fillet was superb, with the duck as a very close second. Will really recommend this place.

Came to The March Hare, Guildford for a meal and some drinks. Ordered a blue chateaubriand which came out overcooked at first. The Parkway Beefeater is a delightful pub-style chain that offers a diverse menu featuring grilled meats and international favorites, including mouthwatering fajitas. Their 8oz fillet steaks are particularly noteworthy, aged for at least 30 days and grilled to perfection, served alongside chunky triple-cooked chips, crispy flat mushrooms, juicy grilled tomatoes, and peppercorn sauce.
Great food this eve and served by the restaurant manager paul who went above and beyond with service. Food was also on point so thankyou to the kitchen staff as well. Also didn't get her name but the manager on breakfast was also great. This beefeater clearly an asset to Guildford and whitbread should invest in a refurb as the staff are clearly worth it.

We had a 2-4-1 voucher so decided to come see what it was like and we were pleasantly surprised. Joeli our waitress was lovely - very attentive, friendly and efficient. She made it a lovely night for us. Whilst the food was not mind blowing, it was simple, hearty fare which did the job. It was also incredibly good value too. So would I recommend- yes! Whilst the food is not going to win accolades, the price reflects what you’re getting and we had a good night. Thank you again to Joeli and the other lovely staff for your kindness and hard work. Top tip- I’d recommend signing up to their mailing list as I have been sent several money saving deals from them since I joined.

We ate here 2 days with a very big group. The food was generally okay, large portions but some items were really oily. Service was generally fine, the second day it took a very long time before all of our desserts came, some members of our group ordered additional drinks and some of them didn’t even show up, even after asking. The tables were really sticky, still after a good wipe

Excellent Service – As Always! As a returning customer to Beefeater, I have to say the service keeps us coming back – and this visit was no exception. Our waiter, Matt Dunning, was absolutely fantastic. Friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive from start to finish. He remembered us from a previous visit, which was such a nice personal touch. It's that kind of consistency and care that makes dining here feel special. Orders were taken promptly, everything arrived just as requested. It’s clear that Matt takes pride in his role and genuinely enjoys making guests feel welcome. A big thank you for another great experience – we’ll definitely be back again soon!

I had a very humiliating and disappointing experience at Beefeater Guildford. The staff was very rude- insisting we go outside and stand. Later, when I found silt in my food, she dismissed me by saying “I can’t understand” several times, then took my dish away without offering an apology, replacement, or refund. I was left without a proper meal and even abandoned my takeaway as I no longer felt comfortable eating it. This is unacceptable service and food hygiene. I hope management takes this seriously, as no customer should be treated this way.
Ishan G — Google review
A surprise — or shall I say, a shock — to hear the way I was spoken to by staff. Upon arriving at the destination, I naturally waited and greeted the first waitress with a polite “hello,” unaware that this one had not been taught the basic art of politeness. I was abruptly shouted at to “WAIT THERE.” Luckily, this individual dedicated her very limited time to me, only to inform me that “if it’s to eat, you better be ready to wait.” What a rather nice way to make a first impression! I turned on my heels and left. If you feel like eating out, I would strongly advise that, unless you enjoy being disrespected and spoken to in an inhuman way — a way even animals shouldn’t be addressed — you avoid this place. Please, dedicate some time to teaching your staff an old tradition also known as politeness.

After having a very poor visit to our local Beefeater, we decided to branch out and try our luck, one more time, with a different branch. A huge thank you to our waitress Joeli, for making us feel completely welcomed and making sure we had everything we needed with our meals. It’s safe to say, Joeli, made our evening and the 45 minute drive well worth the travel! She has restored our faith in Beefeater! Thank You Joeli!

Came here for both breakfast and dinner with the meal deal. Dinner was excellent – good selection, tasty food and excellent service. Our waitress Gracie was especially lovely, welcoming and polite – a real credit to the place! The rest of the staff were quick, attentive, and took the time to explain how the meal deal works. They were all very helpful. Breakfast, though, was a different story. The food was cold and not very tasty, and the service was not great either. The waitress seemed unfriendly and gave off an unwelcoming vibe. Evening meal was an great experience though 👍🏻

The Withies Inn is a charming 16th-century pub located in Compton, offering a cozy atmosphere with wood paneling, exposed brick, and low-beamed ceilings. In addition to its dining area, the inn features a lovely garden for guests to enjoy. Known for its proper and unfussy cooking, the menu boasts an array of seafood options along with hearty classics like steak, kidney, and mushroom pie. The inn also offers accommodation near the popular Watts Gallery Artists Village.
We stopped here for a lunchtime meal as we were visiting Watts gallery nearby, and we were really delighted that we did. It has the best atmosphere, really old fashioned in the best way possible. We both had the halibut special, and it was truly delicious. The staff were helpful and attentive. Thank you!

We had a stay over for one night and really enjoyed our stay. Landlord was really welcoming along with friendly and attentive staff. We had dinner reservation and the food was delicious. Breakfast was ok but well under cooked for most people’s taste. Despite the breakfast shortcoming I would recommend The Withies for a genuine old charm retreat and a momentarily escape from the madness.

Good pub food, lovely old building, do not rent the Hayloft room. It has a high window, no shutters, no curtains; impossible to sleep when it gets light. When we mentioned this in the morning, we were told that this wasn’t the first time a complaint about this had been made. But for this, the review score would be much higher. Given the price of the room, it’s really poor that this hasn’t been fixed.

A very nice country pub, lovely gardens and outside seating. Good menu also usually special of the day. We'll worth a visit.

I stayed in the Treetops room for one night. It was clean and staff were extremely friendly. However, the door had no blind and the heating hadn’t been on so leading straight to the outside it was quite cold. The room has steps also so not suitable for disabled access. Good choice for breakfast and lots of parking all round. Lovely B&B but I wouldn’t say 5 stars.

We stopped at The Withies Inn whilst on a country walk with Percy, an English Setter, who we are taking care of for a few weeks. The Withies Inn is a nice old country pub with good food and real ale. The staff are friendly. Jorge the barman was great. Really friendly and charming.

A charming old pub dating back to the 1600’s with bags of character. We met friends for lunch and the team gave us a table in the garden with lots of umbrellas to shield us from a very hot day. Service was fantastic, they couldn’t do enough for us. Food was good we had fish and chips and chicken.

The Long Bar & Grill, formerly known as The Jetty, is a prominent feature of the luxurious Harbour Hotel in Guildford town center. The bar boasts a stunning 120ft marble top and an extensive cocktail list. It offers a glitzy setting with a relaxed atmosphere and mouthwatering cocktails. Guests can enjoy a pulsating atmosphere, subtle lighting, and refreshing furnishings. Additionally, the bar hosts cocktail master classes led by the excellent Ben for an immersive experience.
An incredible evening at The Long Bar in Guildford! The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed — the perfect blend of upscale and welcoming. From the moment I arrived, the energy of the space set the tone for a great night out. A huge shoutout to Rosie and Kate, who truly elevated the experience. Their service was warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional. They knew the menu well, timed everything perfectly, and made me feel genuinely looked after — something you don’t always get, even in high-end spots. Whether you’re stopping in for a drink or settling in for the night, this place delivers. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Mixed feelings about our experience. Firstly, we found it incredibly hard to make a reservation, we rang constantly for 3 days with no answer, so def book online if you can. After we spoke to the hotel we got a call back, and staff were accommodating to fit us in last minute (with a large table of 12). That did set the theme for this place and something that couldn't be faulted was the service! Greeted with a smile, all staff were very attentive and accommodating and they couldn't do enough...scored 100%! The food was the biggest disappointment, I had the burger and it was bland and watery sauce, the same with casear salad, okay but again a bit watery and tasteless, others on our table had the chicken which was really good, and the ribeye steak which was requested as medium rare but came blue (which was fine for the diner) . Being a bougie bar it's full of overpriced cocktails and drinks which were also acceptable! The price point sits around £25/£30 for a main dish and whilst everything was OK, it was exactly that, pretty average at a higher price point than other offerings in the area! To balance this i am going to say we were medium sized table of 12 that were booked in last minute and tables of 6 plus are usually advised to pre order and maybe that impacted some of the quality of the dishes!

We were staying at The Harbour Hotel as an anniversary treat and so we decided to have a meal here. There was a great atmosphere on arrival, with the experience from start to finish being amazing. I couldn't fault the service at all and the food was absolutely amazing. Our server Finn was also great. I certainly would highly recommended The Long Bar & Grill.

This is SUCH a hidden gem in Guildford, impressive drinks selection and stunning cocktails with really informative and friendly staff. It’s a great atmosphere and the service is impeccable - Ben and Joe at the bar were just brilliant all night (and so lovely even after we may have had one too many rosés!) strongly recommend! It would be a great first date place if you’re looking to low key (or high key!) impress. I met a friend for an event so didn’t try the food.

Had an amazing meal and they fully accommodated me with intolerances, staff really lovely, kind and helpful Rosie, Miles and another guy didn’t get his name but very helpful with menus. We ate in the bar area setting and music was great. Food was amazing. Would 100% recommend thanks so much to you all ❤️

My second visit and both times have been very good. Both the bar and restaurant staff are fantastic. Finn was looking after my group and he was brilliant, and compliments to chef, the burgers were insane! Def return next time I’m in town.

The burger was unreal Like the actual meat I’ve had fancier/nicer toppings/fillings but the burger meat was the best ever, really nice people, I was in there early so only me in there, so can’t comment on atmosphere I’m sure it’s fine though.

Nando's Guildford is a vibrant Afro-Portuguese eatery renowned for its flame-grilled peri-peri chicken, infused with the fiery essence of African bird’s-eye chili. The atmosphere is always welcoming, making it an ideal spot whether you're grabbing a quick takeaway or enjoying a leisurely meal with friends. Diners rave about the consistently delicious food, featuring perfectly grilled chicken and an array of flavorful sauces that cater to all palates.
The Service - Greeted immediately by a friendly member of staff. - Ordering was smooth and easy, member of staff was very efficient and patient. - Food was served in a timely manner and staff asked if we required anything else before resuming. The Food - For three persons, with starters and mains, all of the food was served hot, fresh and in a timely manner. - The food was cooked really well and as can be expected the flavours were great. The Atmosphere - The venue at the time we attended (around midday on a weekday) was relatively peaceful with a few diners dotted around but not overcrowded. - The tables have a good distance apart so you don’t feel as if you are entering into people’s conversations just to get to the bathroom. - The lighting is well suited for the venue and there are full glass panels on the exterior to allow light in during the daylight hours. The Negatives - The only thing I can say in a “negative” manner about this venue is that the bathroom is what seems like a mile walk away up the stairs. Overall, a great dining experience. Quick, easy, friendly, tasty. Would recommend ✅

A fantastic taste experience marred by the service. Set over two floors the restaurant has plenty of seats and is very easy access from the centre. I would score this restaurant very highly had it not been for the frustrated door staff. I also witnessed a very heated exchange from another set of customers regarding the same staff member. Management should hopefully improve the situation by either redeploying or dealing with the cause of these confrontations. (The WiFi and app were both not working which also added to a negative experience. Staff said it’s common. So why not fix it?)

Love going to Guildford Nandos - polite and friendly staff. We are vegetarian and still find lots of options. Favourite is peri peri chips, pitta bread with hummus and chickpea wraps. Used to love bottomless yoghurt which is no longer there. Wish they bring it back. Will definitely visit again as it’s a family hang out place.

Always a Great Experience at Nando’s! Nando’s never disappoints! The food is consistently delicious — perfectly grilled chicken with just the right amount of spice (Peri-Peri never fails!). The sides are always fresh, and the menu has great variety for all tastes. Service was fast and friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. You really can’t go wrong with a Nando’s meal — whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down with friends, it always hits the spot. Definitely a 5/5 experience every time. Looking forward to my next visit already!

After more than one year of being in Guildford, we finally managed to go there. We had heard of Nando's quite a lot, but just didn't go there due to various reasons There was a wait of 30 minutes, and we were pondering if we should go to some other outlet like before. Anyways, we decided to wait and finally made it to Nando's. The staff who attended us was surprised that it was our first time. He explained how it works, and where to get the sauces and cutlery. The menu is a limited one, focused on chicken. We ordered a boneless platter and grilled chicken wrap. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. The food was presented in an appealing manner, and the Sauces is what makes the food come to life. The first few bits were awesome with experiences of different flavours, after that it felt flat. I think the menu doesn't do justice to their core area, which is their sauces. They could add other items which elevates their food... Will I go their again, yes for the sauces. They could probably have a fixed menu, and a few other items to experiment with the sauces. Based on the feedback they could expand their menu.

This was my 1st time but not for me. The restaurant has plenty of seats and is very easy access from the centre but set over two floors with the toilets upstairs. Ordering fron the app was problematic and staff not helpful. The food, and I'll admit I did not know what to expect, was just average chicken dishes. Not sure what to order I had mine with a medium sauce and I can only describe it as bland. The place was popular but I think KFC is better in terms of quality and flavour. I definitely won't be back.

Nestled in a charming corner of Guildford, the Harbour Cafe Bar & Grill is a stylish eatery that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Known for its delectable dishes, guests can indulge in perfectly cooked meats like flat iron steak, rib-eye, t-bone, and fillet—all served alongside crispy fries and fresh watercress. The ambiance is inviting with tasteful decor and a cozy bar area featuring an impressive wine selection.
Very friendly staff who are very accommodating and engaging. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Rooms spacious and very clean with plenty of amenities safe hair drier etc. Breakfast plenty to choose. Bar prices are on a par with London food in the restaurant is very good. I would recommend afternoon tea it very popular. The hotel itself is a short walk from the shopping area and there are many old pubs and restaurants around the area. Around a 2 min walk to the pedestrian area.

The food here is absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was good and I loved the decor. Nice bar area with a good wine selection. Seating around the bar, table and chairs and booths. Waiter was pleasant and recommended some items on the menu. I had the ribs, the best I've had in years. Portions are large, so go hungry. Prices are average for Guildford area. I've been to places more expensive but the food wasn't as nice as here. They have another restaurant on site, The Jetty. Will be back to try the afternoon tea.

Popped in for a drink early Sunday evening and sat in the main bar area at the front, on a comfy sofa. It had a nice busy buzz to it but it wasn't noisy. The guy who served us was attentive and professional (wish I'd taken his name). My friend wanted a particular tea and he made genuine efforts to find it. When he couldn't find it, he was apologetic and keen to make sure my friend had a suitable alternative. That could be deemed basic service but there have been numerous occasions when that kind of effort hasn't been made. It was very much appreciated. Thank you again to that guy.

Five Guys Guildford is a fast-food eatery that specializes in customized burgers, fries, and hot dogs. While patrons wait for their order, they are treated to complimentary peanuts. On a recent visit, the establishment had no queue, and the staff exhibited pleasant behavior. However, it may not be an ideal choice for students seeking inexpensive options.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an amazing experience at Five Guys! The burger was cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and loaded with toppings just the way I like it. The fries were fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned, and the milkshake was the perfect finishing touch. The outdoor seating had a great vibe, and the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend for anyone craving a quality burger! Will definitely be coming back.

Gary B — Google review
Most expensive burger meal I've ever ordered. Requested a one patty burger, got two patties: one undercooked and one overcooked. Didn't want cheese, but received a slice of processed cheese on the burger. French fries were way over-salted. Milkshake was not very good; too much syrup. Staff was friendly and helpful. The superior product claims and glowing accolades posted throughout the restaurant were not what we experienced. Other diners could deliver a better meal at a fraction of the price. Sub-note: After this review, Five Guys requested that I contact them about the comments. However, for various reasons, we were unsuccessful in 'resolving' the complaint; though they were going to speak further with the location. Appreciate that they took the time to follow up on the issues.

I have always loved the burgers and shake from Five guys and would often order and eat. But I rarely visit the store. I never expected such a good hospitality from a fast food joint. The staff who served me, I guess the name was Krish. Omg what a good hospitality and kind behaviour. The patience and the way he talked was worth mentioning. Good service. Keep it up
Kannan P — Google review
Regardless of the burger that you get, you have to get the Cajun fries. That's by far their best side dish. Your typical Five Guys, with 2 burger sizes and all toppings free. The "all the way" is the easiest choice but you can always build your own. Fries come in 3 sizes and the small size really is enough for at least 2 people. The free refills are decent, since there's about 30 flavours you can choose from, both sugary and sugar free.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review
The cajun fries are by far the best from any burger restaurant. The burgers are so good too. I would highly recommend anyone that hasn't been, you must try this at least once in your life.

Good burgers but good lord are they expensive. A bacon cheeseburger with regular chips and a strawberry shake will set you back a whopping £24. If you order through “Just Eat” get ready to spend £32 🤦🏻‍♂️
Andrew ( — Google review
Today I visited a Five Guys in guildford and asked one of the staff members where the peanuts were. Instead of helping, she laughed at me in a way that made me feel embarrassed and disrespected—as if asking a simple question was something to be mocked. I believe all customers should be treated with respect. Not everyone is familiar with how everything works at every restaurant, and it's completely reasonable to ask for help. Staff should be trained to guide customers politely, not make them feel uncomfortable or judged. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, and that staff are reminded of the importance of professionalism and courtesy. This experience left a negative impression, and I would appreciate steps being taken to ensure other customers aren’t treated this way.thank you

McDonald's is a timeless fast-food institution that has captured the hearts and appetites of many with its iconic burgers and crispy fries. While visiting, you might encounter a bustling atmosphere filled with energy, as it often attracts crowds eager to indulge in their favorite meals. Occasionally, the hustle and bustle can lead to some hiccups, like receiving food that isn't at its best temperature. However, McDonald's commitment to customer satisfaction means they are quick to make things right!

I received STAIL Food and told him to send me fresh food as i have previously requested!! He refused and said talk to Uber eats we don’t do that. Very rude and abrupt manager who has no customer service skills
AllThingsNicola — Google review
Not great, I think this reflected in my first 2 Star review… Service haphazard, meal warm at best, chips half empty. I will expand on all of that, firstly I arrive and it’s busy, this is to be expected as it’s lunchtime in Guildford and there are lots of school kids in there, so I’m expecting not to get served my meal straight away, whilst ordering I decide to go for a large for value for money. I stand in the ever expanding queue waiting for my number to be posted on the screen to collect, my number comes up but when I get to the front of the queue they are calling numbers that aren’t even on the board. The only reason I know to wait is because lots of other customers are going up saying they have been waiting a while and their numbers aren’t even on the board. So I can’t blame the staff for this, it’s obviously someone further up the chain that needs to fix the board. It was just causing chaos. Weirdly because you can’t see the kitchen it makes it more frustrating as you just see people with bags of food walk past you and disappear. I get my food, before quite a few others, despite customising my burger not to have onions in, which came as a surprise. I go upstairs and find a table straight away, the tables are clean and there is someone doing a good job of cleaning and making sure the bins are empty etc, this was probably one of the only plus points. I open my meal to find my chips aren’t full to the brim as usual but 2/3rds maybe full, so not much point going for a large as I definitely wasn’t after the larger Diet Coke. I open my burger and there is the most measly amount of sauce in which is placed off to one side of the burger, not much point going for the big tasty after all. Then comes the most disappointing part, the burger is Luke warm at best, which considering it’s a custom burger is also a surprise, the chips are slightly better, but not by much. I’m not expecting fine dining from a Maccy D’s but this was a very substandard experience. I won’t be going back in a hurry. Oh and finally, I stated eat in on the ordering machine and it came in a bag, didn’t bother me to much, but worth mentioning.

Visited for the first time last night and was very impressed. We ordered at the automated screens, took a table number and sat in one of their comfortable booths to await delivery of our food. It was good value and only took around 5mins to arrive but you could tell it had been cooked fresh to order as it was piping hot which was amazing. So much better than lukewarm food you get from other fast food places. Taste was excellent- my husband really enjoyed his hot buffalo chicken sandwich meal with blue cheese dip, and I loved my chicken tenders meal with honey mustard dip and Texas toast! The skin on fries are also delicious, hot, well seasoned and actually taste like potato - just like they should. Loved that the drinks are free refills so when we left we topped up our cups and headed off to the cinema to watch a movie (and saved having to pay exorbitant cinema prices!!). Service was excellent from the friendly and efficient team so we will be coming back again! Thank you to all of the team 🙌

You know the saying 'a restaurant keeps its toilets as well as the kitchen?' Yeah. I would not like to see the kitchen. Also, the amount of explosive diahorrea in the bathroom suggests 2 of 3 people who come here get some level of food poisoning. My experience so far has been fine though. Very empty tables, very hot food, reasonably seasoned chips and lovely honey mustard dip.

Tonight was the WORST Slim Chickens experience I’ve ever had. The chicken tenders tasted like old tenders that were recooked in dirty old oil. The chicken was so tough to bite into from being reheated that I chipped my tooth. I could not eat the rest of my meal. I’m very disappointed. For somewhere that’s so expensive you expect better.
