Gasometer in Essen, Germany is a former gas holder that has been repurposed into an impressive exhibition space and event venue. Standing at 117 meters tall, it offers stunning panoramic views of the city. Visitors can enjoy a variety of exhibits, including photography displays featuring wildlife and nature captured by talented photographers. The current exhibit showcases captivating images from experienced photographers, set against the unique backdrop of the Gasometer itself.
Visited the 'Planet Ocean' exhibition. Great photography and storytelling about the beauty of the ocean and how human exploitation challenges its natural landscape. Beautiful and sad at the same time.
Chillino C — Google review
Beautiful pictures and interesting discussion points for the environment. The two sensory activities were great. The noise of nature and the projected under the ocean was cool. I would recommend to go, but I would not be back until there is a new exhibition. There is a nice view point from the roof as well. You can buy tickets at the front entrance.
Phil — Google review
Great day out to visit the exhibition about Oceans of Planet Earth. You can claim the 120m high tower using stairs or take the lift. From up there you have a magnificent view. Next to this great attraction is also a climbing forest where you can be Tarzan.
Michael Z — Google review
Went to the ‘Ocean Planet’ exhibit. Very impressive photos in a impressive building.
Debby L — Google review
We saw the exhibition Planet Ocean. It was very exciting, very interesting. Large pictures of previously unknown sea creatures, at least unknown to me. Very good for families as well, very interesting for little kids. On the third floor of the exhibition, there is a large projection of sea creatures, which was quite interesting. We also used the audio guides, which were quite helpful. And I find the entry fee was really quite cheap compared to similar exhibitions of the same quality.
Sven G — Google review
Great place to visit. All about aquatic animals, fishing and the environment impacts. It's really fascinating. The top level is like cinema. There are cushions on the floor, you can lie on that and look at the reflection of the video on the top. This will give you a good understanding of what is happening with the fishing and the environment.
Charles R — Google review
The Planet Ocean exhibition is extensive and very interesting. Many large photo displays and some video. There was a 30 minute wait for the Sounds From the Ocean Floor audio experience, which was interesting, but not worth the wait to me. The projection on the third floor is stunning but you must allow at least half an hour to really get to appreciate it. From there, you can take the elevator to the roof for an amazing view.
Sascha F — Google review
Just for the building alone it's worth it to visit. You can take the elevator (or the stairs) all the way to the top, where you have an amazing view of the surrounding areas. The exhibit inside changes every few months so there is usually a reason to visit more than once a year. I saw the underwater exhibit and it was well worth it. Great photographs, plenty of space between the giant pictures, well visited but still not crowded. The highlight was on the top floor where you could lay down on a pillow and watch creatures swim above you.

Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
SEA LIFE Oberhausen is a family-friendly aquarium with over 5,000 marine creatures housed in tanks totaling two million liters of water. The main highlight is the largest shark tank in Germany, featuring black tip reef sharks and rays visible from an underwater tunnel. A new turtle exhibit opened in 2017, offering insights into different species' habitats, evolution, diet, and behavior. Located just a short drive from downtown Essen, it's a perfect stop for families or anyone interested in marine life.
A pleasant experience to do alone or with your family. The kids love it, there is an activity for them where they are given a map and have to stamp the various areas they pass through during the visit. Super clean. Lots of interaction, and assistants explain each animal area. Clean and large bathrooms. There are several areas to sit in the middle of the route. You will find a very cute shop at the end. There are also some activities at the end with virtual glasses. And there is a smoking area for those interested. All the staff were super friendly.
Maria P — Google review
A really good place with a lot of aquatic life in both flora and fauna. The whole place was very well maintained and it was a good experience going through the entire setup. Fantastic place to bring kids. The staff personnel were quite helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it.
SACHIT V — Google review
Was genuinely excited to take our visitors (with a 6 yo child) to this place. We have been to Aqua Zoo in Düsseldorf and was really amazed. So we had high expectations here since it's an international franchise. Cons: - Price of the tickets were a bit more expensive to our liking, considering that a lot of the exhibitions were closed. No otters, no penguins, no seals. - Place could use some sprucing up. Everything felt old. Ambience was depressing, from start to finish. Good thing my niece still appreciated seeing the fish, but the adults clearly saw what was lacking. - Very crowded on a random weekend. I didn't see staff on standby inside to usher people through and engage kids. They could have compensated with the lack of exhibitions with engaged staff that actually talk to the kids. - Limited to vending machines for after snacks options. - I downloaded the app and it was very laggy. Couldn't even identify the fishes properly and were giving wrong data. Very misleading and a waste of time. - No signal throughout the exhibition. It's 2025 folks. - No locker rooms. Prams were left randomly scattered to the side of the reception. Pros: - Staff at front desk seemed to be nice. Although they were clearly exhausted already by 14:00. - They set up some Halloween decoration and were giving away some Haribo. There were stamp stations across the place, but failed in execution as some of them were already missing the stamps. - Very clean bathrooms. - They had a friendly mascot waiting at the end to take photos with. - Nice quality selection of souvenirs, but limited choices. Expensive but that is to be expected. - I heard a staff member inside talking about mussels, it's nice to also have these educational stuff around places like these. Overall, I'm not coming back. I would rather go to Aquazoo or even Krefeld Zoo to see more variety of animals.

I really liked it, especially the Animal Crossing event was fun. Generally the atmosphere was relaxing however it can be packed with people in some areas. I went there at around 4pm and a lot of kids were running around but only at the beginning. Overall it was fun and a wonderful experience.
Mai T — Google review
I really enjoyed my trip here. It's definitely a great place for children but I was visiting a friend and as an adult, I had a great time! Everything is well maintained and beautifully set up. The clean and large bathrooms were a nice surprise as usually in such establishments where lots of children are involved, things can become messy quickly. It should be noted that the staff were very helpful and friendly and even spoke in English when they realised I was an English speaker. I would highly recommend a visit and do be sure to check out the cute shop at the end.
Kimberly M — Google review
We got tickets to Sea Life as part of our hotel stay package. It’s a decent sized aquarium where you walk along a fixed course to see the fish. For the kids there was an Animal Crossing stamp tour which adds a bit of extra excitement to kids running around. Some areas did tend to get crowded but at the entrance they do regulate the number of people that get in at intervals. There are some areas where you’re allowed to touch things which was a fun addition. We did see some people arrive that did not book tickets in advance who got turned around at the entrance because the day was fully booked, so be careful of that.
Akil K — Google review
We really enjoyed the visit with our baby, I recommend buying tickets early!
Veronica C — Google review
Nice place specially for kids, there were a couple of sections closed due to maintenance but still nice place and very close to Westfield centro shopping mall. Recommendation park your car for free in Westfield centro and walk 5 mins to sea life. Otherwise you will need to pay for parking close to sea life

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Oberhausen is a thrilling indoor theme park designed for kids up to 10 years old. With two rides and ten play zones, children can immerse themselves in the world of LEGO, building and playing with over forty million bricks. The Miniland exhibit showcases famous landmarks from the Rhine and Ruhr regions constructed entirely from LEGO bricks. Additionally, visitors can enjoy 4D movies with special effects at the cinema.
The two ladies at the reception were very respectful eventhough we, adults without children, were not allowed to visit. Only adults with kids were allowed. However, they told us that once a while there is an opportunity for adults to visit the visum and enjoy themselves.
Ramata S — Google review
A great place for children, but as an adult, I absolutely loved the experience, a definite must visit for lego fans! I loved watching the various displays and I liked how the establishment was divided into separate areas with their own theme. There are two enjoyable rides, a movie theater, a decently sized indoor playground, and various areas to play around with Lego. There's also a nicely stocked cafeteria and spacious eating area. The only slight disappointment for me was that I felt there should have been some sort of discount at the Lego store in LEGOLAND for those who visited. The prices were the same as any other lego store.
Kimberly M — Google review
Magical! Everything is wonderful, from the content to the employees! Extremely professional and dedicated employees. Everything exudes a positive atmosphere. Definitely recommend and go again! Great for kids and adults.
Sonja — Google review
We got tickets to Legoland from our hotel as part of their package. We arrived there first thing at the opening so it was not that crowded. The center is divided in a couple of areas each with their own theme. There are two big rides, a movie theater a small indoor playground and lots of areas to play around with Lego. The highlight to us was the ride where you shoot and the 4D movie theater. There seem to be a couple different movies being shown (we saw 3 distinct ones) so it’s worth watching multiple. Our favorite was the Lego City Action one. A shame there was none of the Lego Disney princesses which is my daughters favorite. We did notice that around 12 the crowd was a lot more noticeable so that was also a sign for us to leave. The store connected to it was definitley not cheap so I’d rather buy Lego when there is discount.
Akil K — Google review
⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing experience. We arrived at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Oberhausen, but couldn’t get in because it was overbooked. There was no clear information on the website about this, so we came all the way for nothing. At least they should update the website or show ticket availability properly
S P — Google review
Really fun time had with the family here. Lots of hands on things to do for the kids and Big kids like me in the family. 2 small rides inside too.
James S — Google review
Very underwhelming experience for an adult. Quite overstimulating and full experience for a kid. Our son was happy about the Lego stations and the different test that he could do, but we felt that it was a small place and on Sunday it was crowded and full. It could include more stations but the building itself is quite small, so I assume they do a good use of what they have. Maybe less admissions would create a better feeling. The activities are interesting but nothing that you or your kid would call “discovery”. More detailed and more delicate detailed work would have given the place a better finesse. For what you get overpriced. You can bring some snacks with you, and there is free parking just three minutes walking.
Yiannis M — Google review
Great for kids, intense for adults. It is actually a compressed version of Legoland in Orlando, Florida with the same speed testing ramps for cars, shooting rides, earthquake testers. There’s a lot of lego and a workshop as well. We had to drag our son out of here kicking and screaming, he loved it. The experience for adults could be optimized. Theres just 1 restaurant with a small selection of bad food (hot dogs, pretzels and sugary stuff) and no daylight

The LUDWIGGALERIE, situated in Oberhausen Castle, is a renowned art gallery known for its diverse and impressive collection of ancient and contemporary artworks. The castle itself, built in the neoclassical style with an appealing pink hue, dates back to the second and thirteenth century. Operated by the Ludwig Art Foundation since the 1980s, this museum showcases a variety of artistic forms such as drawings, photographs, and caricatures.
I went to the Ludwiggalerie Oberhausen Castle to visit the exhibition of the famous German artist (cartoonist, comedian, film director, actor and writer). Visiting this exhibition was a privilege. Also, the surrounding area (such as Kaisergarten) of Oberhausen Castle is a great area to walk/cycle, along the Rhine-Herne Canal, also for leisure activities, including a free animal enclosure. Especially walk across the bridge sculpture “Slinky Springs to Fame” over the Rhine-Herne Canal.
Neil R — Google review
Definitely worth a visit, place of interest with interesting exhibitions
Carol C — Google review
A good place for a gallery. But on a holiday you might find it’s hard to get a parking space nearby. Because many family with kids would go to the park here.

I went already on many beautiful exhibitions here. The place is calm and beautiful, with much natural light. Tickten Price is okay. They also have a great giftshop! Parking is mostly available.

Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is a former metalworks site in the Meiderich district of Duisburg, Germany that has been transformed into a public park. The landscape architect Peter Latz preserved the industrial structures such as blast furnaces and chimney stacks, integrating them into the park's design.
Public park, has a lot of magnificent things to see, î visited mostly because Im a Hunger games fan and some parts where filmed there for The ballad of songbirds and snakes. They also filmed Sunrise on the reaping there. But in general it’s a beautiful place to visit, just walk around, take pictures, enjoy. There might even be some events finding place there, when I was there there was a street food festival
Geanina 2 — Google review
I recently visited Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord and was completely amazed by how an old steel factory was transformed into such a creative and inspiring public space. The combination of industrial ruins, greenery, and open access made it feel like walking through a giant outdoor museum. Climbing up the old blast furnace was a highlight – the view over the Ruhr area is fantastic! I also loved how peaceful it was despite being such a popular spot. The lighting at night is magical and gives the whole park a completely different vibe. This is a perfect spot for photographers, families, history lovers, or just anyone who enjoys exploring unusual places. And it’s free! Highly recommended if you're in the area.

It's a huge public park full of factories, machines, an old railway, a theater and a windmill. It just show you the history of The industrial part of the country. It's a great place for photos and sports since You'll walk a lot and climb many stairs. You can ride a bike or walk your dogs too. There's a small cafe at the entrance and some public bathrooms.

Landschaftspark Duisburg is an amazing place to visit. It is a former industrial site turned into a beautiful park. The old steel structures look impressive, especially when lit up at night. There are many activities like climbing, walking, and exploring the old factory buildings. The park is well-maintained and has great photo spots. It is perfect for families, friends, and photographers. I had a wonderful time and would love to visit again.
Mohammad A — Google review
One of the most extraordinary things I've visited. You can walk from the bottom right up to the top of one of the blast furnaces, stopping at various levels to see how it worked. The views from the top are incredible. There is no fixed route and we just wandered around, but if you wanted an order to it, start from behind the gas tank and head for the bunkers, where you'll "find" the walkway which takes you along them, to the bottom of the visitable blast furnace. There isn't much signage, but actually that's one of the nice things about this place.
Georgina F — Google review
Day is good for if you want to climb up to the top of the factory, night for the light and spooky vibe, the evening is great for the view, i like the iron slide they have for children and adult.
Huỳnh T — Google review
How nice that people turned industrial heritage into cultural future! Nice that one can climb up to the highest point! Good view! Also the cafe is nice to have a drink or eat something...

Lovely place to walk around. There are signs to explain the different structures left from when it was a factory. Sunset from blast furnace #5 is so pretty.

AQUApark Oberhausen GmbH is a unique water park that pays tribute to the city's mining heritage with its industrial-themed design. The park features a sports pool, an expansive outdoor area with sunbathing lawns, and a restaurant. Its distinctive metal and glass roof, reminiscent of the region's industrial architecture, can be partially retracted on warm summer days. Visitors can enjoy attractions like water slides, a wave pool, and themed pools for children featuring obstacles inspired by mining tools.

Located in Oberhausen, the Kaisergarten park was created in the late 19th century and covers an area of 28 hectares. Adjacent to Schloss Oberhausen, this young town boasts a diverse range of attractions. The park, which is named after Kaiser Wilhelm's birthday celebration, features extensive woodland covering approximately one quarter of its expanse. In addition to that, about a third of the park is composed of older forests.
Really beautiful place, lots of space to walk, Kid's play area, the spring bridge, and so on. The petting zone with farm animals is quite an attraction. If you are lucky you can also see peacocks just taking a stroll.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Duisburg Zoo, situated in Duisburg, Germany, is a well-known destination for animal enthusiasts. Spanning over 15 hectares and established in 1934, the zoo houses about 4,000 animals from approximately 400 species. Visitors can witness exotic and native animals including big cats, bears, monkeys, and even koalas at the specialized Koala House. The zoo also features a dolphinarium and an adventure playground for added entertainment.
We recently visited Duisburg Zoo, and overall, it was a great but mixed experience. 👍 What I Liked: The zoo features some unique animals you don’t usually see in other German zoos—like red panda, koalas, manatees, elephants, and even Tasmanian devils, which was a nice surprise. The layout is quite spacious and natural, with wooded surroundings and open paths. It felt more like a walk in the park with animal stops along the way. Big animals like elephants have enough space for themselves, and the zoo even mimic what's their real niche. They also have colourful aquariums with beautiful corals and farms. Great for families! There are playgrounds and picnic areas scattered around, making it easy to spend a full day with kids. For photography lovers, it’s a solid spot. Many enclosures offer good visibility without too much glare or obstruction. What Could Be Better: Some parts of the zoo feel a bit dated. A few enclosures could definitely use a facelift or renovation. I did have concerns about animal welfare, especially with the gorillas and elephants—some seemed anxious or restless. Great value for money and the highlight and the crowd pleaser is the Dolphin show. They have names like Delfin, Delfina, Daisy.. 🎟️ Practical Info: Entrance fee: ~€19.50 for adults, ~€11 for kids.
Gee O — Google review
Very nice zoo and the 🐬 show made the experience even better. We had a really great time there and I could recommend it even for families with smaller kids because the zoo is not too big so it is convenient for small legs 😅 (our four-year old walked all the way by himself with no complaints). However, overall I have to give "only" four stars because we were not very satisfied with the food possibilities. It's maybe common for Germany generally to have such a food service and options but from our experience from many zoos in different European countries, it was unfortunately the worst.
Barbora Š — Google review
There quite a lot of variety animals! we can watch them closely name boards towards Dolphinarium is not great, it was difficult to find it and hence we missed the show! - one star minus there are only snack and mini cafe, no proper restaurant inside - which is why one star less parking lots are here and there, come by 11am to make it useful! the pic is the view from inside the zoo towards Autobahn! Close shot of lions! At one corner they have Domestic animals like pigs , rabbits 🐇 etc Candid pics of animals are shot by me with CanonM50
Ravi S — Google review
We’ve been to the Duisburg Zoo a few times now, and it’s always a fun experience. There’s a wide variety of animals, including some unique ones like koalas and a wombat. Some parts of the zoo feel a bit dated, but you can clearly see that they are working on renovating several enclosures, which is great to see. The highlight of the zoo is definitely the dolphin show — it’s very well done and always a pleasure to watch. All in all, it’s a nice zoo that we’ll happily visit again!
Gavin B — Google review
Quite cool zoo. Positive: nice variety of animals. All are well fed and taken care. Surrounded by a green, natural and beautiful environment. The delfinarium is fun. You could see tigers, gorillas, giraffes, red pandas, elephants and many more. Toilets and restaurants are available. The price is not that bad. Negative: the parking is 1 km away, at least. You have to walk through a path that is next to a highway where cars go fast. It doesn't feel too convenient if you go with kids. The day fee is 5€ and you have to pay in cash at the entrance.
A. S — Google review
Don’t miss the dolphin show. We enjoyed the visit. However, 500 ml water battle will cost 4.5 euros.

The Stage Metronom Theater - Theater am CentrO is an outstanding venue to enjoy plays or musicals. Every seat provides a superb view of the stage, and the sound quality is excellent. The theater boasts four bar areas, where you can even pre-order drinks for the intermission. The only downside is that there was a queue due to just one person serving snacks. Despite this minor inconvenience, it comes highly recommended as a fantastic venue.

Great venue for musicals. Saw Tarzan here which was a great production and the space this venue offers adds to the whole show. It is weird how you can seemingly can just walk in without anybody checking your ticket. Almost every seat has a great view of the stage. Enough barthrooms are offered, and the drinks/snacks are offered efficiently.

The LVR Industrial Museum St. Antony Ironworks, located near Oberhausen main station, offers a captivating exhibition showcasing 150 years of iron and steel history in the Rhine and Ruhr regions. Housed in the former rolling hall of the Altenberg zinc factory, the museum features nine units guiding visitors through the world of iron, mining companies, technical advancements, working conditions, and industrial transformations during times of war and peace.
A wonderful museum both inside and out and an exhibition about the children of the Ruhr! The employees are extremely friendly! The surroundings are beautiful, especially the park, and it's autumn, so it has a special charm. One of the better museums we visited these days! Zauberlehrling, also known as The Sorcerer's Apprentice, is a remarkable sculpture located in Geholzgarten Ripshorst park. Created by the Berlin-based art collective Inges Idee, this massive 35-meter electric pylon is designed to resemble a dynamic dancing pose. Inspired by Goethe's poem, the sculpture offers a unique experience as it appears different from various angles, creating an illusion of movement.
This artwork made me very happy. I went there twice.

I love pylons, and this is certainly an interesting pylon! There's also a bendy bridge, but I mainly went for the pylon. Plenty of places to park nearby and there's also a café and some toilets near the car park. Only drawback was the smell of poo near the pylon. There's some sort sewage treatment plant which seems to discharge smelly water into a ditch alongside the fields.

The elevators are so small that you can't get in with a regular bike - and with two panniers, it's impossible. So I had to carry a fully loaded bike down the stairs twice and then up twice on the way back... 😖 So if you're arriving by bike, I can only advise against it or accept the stairs. There are some kiosk for water, ice cream and quick snacks or drinks. There are 2 huge restaurants as well. Entrance is free.

Located north of the city center of Duisburg, Museum Küppersmühle is a stunning landmark building that houses a collection of modern and contemporary German art. The museum, known as MKM Museum Küppersmühle für Moderne Kunst, is situated within the Innenhafen, an inland port connected to the River Rhein. Housed in a former mill dating back to 1860, this impressive museum showcases post-war German abstract paintings alongside international exhibitions.
These spaces beat all the MoMA experiences I’ve had across the US for the following reasons: ⭐Stunning juxtapositions. While the red brick outer walls stand proudly to remind visitors of the industrial past, the minimalistic interiors of plain walls with no frills frame the modern artworks powerfully. The broad horizontal walls are punctuated by slender window slits. ⭐Bridge. The silo, now cut through, houses the bridges that connect the two major wings of exhibition spaces. The symbolism is potent. The whole museum is a bridge of the past and present. ⭐Three artists that I personally liked a lot. Gotthard Graubner, Gerhard Richter, and K.O. Götz. ⭐The translations are done superbly. Reading the wall texts is a joy. ⭐The staff was friendly to me. I had a few chance dialogues with different staff members. ⭐The waterfront location really adds to the experience. The serene ripples are integrated into the visitor experience through the deep-set narrow window slits. ⭐⭐⭐Did I mention the iconic stairwell??? I call it a man-made antelope canyon.

Very nice museum with loads to see and explore. Some fascinating pieces and I had lots of fun viewing the art. The building itself is also beautiful and great to look at. The ticket I had which let you go onto multiple floors was 12euro. Great that they had both German and English description boards for the artists, which was useful for tourists. However getting a ticket was difficult as they do not accept MasterCard or Amex, then the machine did not work for my visa which they say they do accept. So I had to walk 10mins to the nearest ATM, annoying for tourists to limit the card reader so much.

There was no welcome or introduction; instead, we were constantly observed by staff. The children were reprimanded several times, even though they behaved quietly and respectfully. The exhibition is not interactive and—apart from a small craft table—offers no opportunities for children to participate or simply be children. Overall, we felt unwelcome there with children. It's a shame—it doesn't create a welcoming or family-friendly atmosphere.

I was visiting the Ebertbad for a concert of the Klavierfestival Ruhr and the location is impressive As the name states it has been a historical bath for working class and now converted into an event location with a stahe and you sit actually in what was formerly the swimming location Nice lighting and a great combination that still breathes history

Park
Tiergehege im Kaisergarten Oberhausen, located in Germany, was established in 1934 as a small animal park for local wildlife. Over the years, it has undergone significant renovations and expansions to become a full-fledged zoo with exotic animals. Visitors can enjoy free entry and have the opportunity to feed the friendly animals for a small fee. The park also features a petting zoo and an outside snack bar with reasonable prices.
It was a pleasant surprise to find otters here. The show was spectacular: duet of otter ladies and a stone magic demonstration by a male otter caused ovation from the public.
Kateryna — Google review
Good place for the kids. The entry is free. Only the snack bar and toilet is outside of the zoo, but not far away. Food for the goats is €1.50 per box, fair price. The parking place doesn’t have many.

Great Park in the heart of Oberhausen for a walk with your kids and elderly people... This park offers you nice walking trails along with a mini zoo... On weekdays you don't need to pay for the parking but during weekends and public holidays, you need to pay for it. Perfect park for a dry picnic
Ujjwal J — Google review
What a lovely gem, very close to the famous Centro shopping centre. We loved our little stroll through the park and then visiting the animal encounters. There is free parking available during the week, or you could park at one of the free Centro parking lots and walk to the park. The animal enclosures appeared well kept and the animals looked healthy. Entry to the park is free.

While the snack and drink prices are considered expensive, the friendly staff ensures a good overall experience.

Nice, clean, modern movie house with double "cuddle" very comfortable seats for couples. Show films on Monday night at 19-30 in original English language which is great if your German is a bit dodgy 😊 snacks and drinks devilishly expensive 🫣

Pretty much all new releases and basically the only remaining cinema with fair prices. They also provide 3D and show one movie in its original English language on Mondays. Young and friendly team, which also sells Nachos, Popcorn, Softdrinks, beer, popsicles etc. Only downside: No A/C - it's always very warm in there and during the summer you're sweating more than you can drink.

Located near the Gasometer and CentrO, Bunkermuseum Oberhausen is a unique attraction housed in an above-ground bunker from World War II. The lower levels remain unchanged since the war's end, while modern extensions were added in 2001. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions on contemporary history and art. Although descriptions are only available in German, visitors can explore the impressive space for free on Wednesdays and Sundays.
An interesting museum, giving an insight into the air war over Europe during WW2. Unfortunately everything is in German so difficult to understand unless you can speak German. Worth a visit for the atmosphere down there.

It’s nice to see. It took me around 30 mins to look around. The descriptions are only in german and there is no connection inside the bunker. It can be hard for no german speaker. I had to take pictures of the description and translate them each time with google translate. You have to download the languages you want to translate in since you cannot do it otherwise without connection. It’s a bit annoying but otherwise it was great. It’s free but far from anything else.

The Old Market is a fascinating archaeological site nestled in the heart of a vibrant city that beautifully blends modernity with remnants from the Roman era. Despite some littering issues, this site remains a captivating destination for those interested in exploring the layers of history within urban landscapes.

The building's impressive exterior and interior make it a remarkable industrial monument that stands out as the city's landmark. Its monumental dome and steel structure are particularly striking. Visitors praise the theater's atmosphere, with one describing it as "like coming home." The performances are highly acclaimed, providing excellent entertainment. The tickets and admission are relatively inexpensive. Food and drinks are normally expensive for a festival. Drinks and food cost between 4 and 10 euros. NEUTRAL: The organizers can't help it, but it can rain here. So (ProTip) take a rain poncho or umbrella with you, or just keep dancing in the rain. CONCLUSION: All in all a great festival! It has many small, very varied stages, showcasing all the electro styles (goa trance, EDM, hardcore, hardstyle, raw style, techno, etc.). There's something for everyone. But it's not family-friendly. I strongly advise families not to bring children there. The sound was very loud. And 10:00 PM is too early to close it... (Original) Un festival se trouvant dans le Olga parc à Oberhausen. The LVR-Industriemuseum, Peter-Behrens-Bau is a remarkable industrial building complex that served as the central warehouse for Gutehoffnungshutte Oberhausen in the 1920s. The building, designed by Peter Behrens, is an important European industrial historical monument and now houses the central depot of the LVR industrial museum.
Interesting exhibition on Peter Behrens. At the moment one floor is open to the public and has an exhibition on Behrens and his work. Some interesting artifacts but lots of interesting images. A visit takes maybe around 1 hour.

A hidden gem. The industrial museum is a mix of architectural and machine design from the early 1900's. The photos and displays from Peter Behrend's designs is impressive. A fascinating walk back in time. Architectural designs from 1910 foreshadow 1960 building styles. The outside displays on both sides of the museum grounds of heavy manufacturing machines are awesome. I hope the museum can market the facilities to bring in more visitors. Highly recommend this as a stop when visiting Oberhausen. "It is in the hands of industry to create culture by bringing together art and technology." Peter Behrens

Only enjoyable during a pandemic and a lot of free time. The exhibition in the basement is for hardcore-fans of the Ruhrpott (at least some nice pictures are shown). The exhibition about the artists who designed administrative buildings is as exciting as it sounds. Do better spend your money and time in the near CentrO-mall.

The “Victory Column” with its silly Victoria is directed against the French, who are hated as their “arch enemy.” Kaisergarten, Sedanstrasse and Annabergstrasse are just a few other names that the Prussian wars carved deeply into the city's architecture. It's time to blow up the "Victory Column", rethink street names and (very slowly!) arrive in the Federal Republic of the 21st century. The current exhibition “Cracks in the Stone” is amazing! As drastic as the first dedication plaque from 1962 (which was practically replaced), the historic presence will be redesigned in the near future. This is obviously not just a theoretical matter for discussion. The facticity of the often furtive, mostly secretive and often hidden horror in dark times: will it receive a more angular profile in the future or will it be deposited behind a new edge of the wall of a shallow, fading oblivion? It's very good how the memorial hall (for years) has set a memorable tone. Didactically, by the way, very cleverly done. Exemplary culture of remembrance. Beispielhafte Erinnerungskultur.

(Translated by Google) Working through history is always good! Implementation is rather semi-realistic, you need peace and a lot of time to read through the whole thing completely! But it has its right to exist... (Original) Geschichte aufarbeiten ist immer gut! Umsetzung eher semi, man benötigt Ruhe und viel Zeit um das Ganze einmal komplett durchzugehen lesen! Hat aber seine Daseinsberechtigung..
