Forests
New Forest National Park, located in Hampshire and Wiltshire in southwest England, became a national park in 2005. It is known for its picturesque landscapes, ancient trees, ponies, small towns and villages. The area offers tranquility amidst the urban sprawl of southern England. The park includes the former South Hampshire Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within its borders.
I spent a truly lovely week here. There are so many amazing walks to do, wildlife to see & ponies, donkeys & cows roaming freely. It is a truly beautiful area of the country & I highly recommend a visit.
Sally M — Google review
This is truly a place you should visit at least once when in the UK. We had a short 3-day cycling trip here. Everything was wonderful — from the scenery to the people. Just a note: you should prepare an offline map before coming, as in some areas the signal is very weak and you can hardly use online maps.
Khánh N — Google review
The rebirth of Foxlease Park, nice to see it back up and running, volunteered here back in February? And it was just nice to see it with life and music... Nice little room in the coach house, could do with an extra pillow, but nice time.
Matt W — Google review
Absolutely beautiful forest, we saw so many horses and lots of cows! We didn’t manage to see any deers. The views are breathtaking and there are many different routes you can take. There is some free parking near Rockford sandpit. You aren’t allowed to feed or pet the animals
Vicky F — Google review
The New Forest is a brilliant place for families, especially with kids. The free-roaming ponies, donkeys, and other animals make it feel magical, and places like the Wildlife Park add more chances to see deer, otters, and birds. There are plenty of easy walking trails too, such as at Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary, and lots of open spaces that are perfect for picnics. Camping is well set up with designated sites, ranging from rustic fields to family-friendly spots with toilets and showers. Wild camping isn’t allowed, but the official sites give you space for kids to play and a good base to explore. Shops are small village stores or farm shops rather than big supermarkets, and toilets are generally available at visitor centres, though sometimes basic. The park doesn’t really have a big lake for swimming or boating, and indoor play options are limited, so it’s very much an outdoor destination. If you’re prepared for nature, fresh air, and a slightly rustic feel, the New Forest is a wonderful family escape where children can explore freely and see animals up close.
Nicholas M — Google review
Beautiful place to go loads of open spaces for people to walk and cycle. Large areas for children play. Beautiful river at brockenhurst where you can often see horses and foals, cattle and sometimes donkeys and pigs.
Claire — Google review
Miles of tall trees creating dense forest. The forest offers great walking and cycling paths which link together towns and areas of interest.
Elliot T — Google review
Gorgeous place, well worth a visit if you appreciate nature. The ponies are such a treat to see. It’s also great for beginner cyclists as it has the Old Railway route created by Cycling UK. I felt like I was in a renaissance oil painting at times because the sights were so beautiful. Make sure to get out early to admire the sights as it gets very busy in August.

Scenic Railroads
Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway is a perfect destination for families and nature enthusiasts. The expansive woodland gardens feature a diverse collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, rare trees, and shrubs. With over 22 miles of pathways to explore, visitors can wander through wildflower, formal, and herbaceous gardens. The highlight for many is the narrow-gauge steam railway that takes passengers on a scenic 1 mile journey through the picturesque landscape.
A woodland garden with paved, gravel and grassy walks. Dogs allowed on leads. Wheelchair access is great on the tarmac, but variable on gravel, dependent on the strength of the pusher in loose stuff but fine where the paths are compacted by vehicles. Grass is OK in dry weather. The car park is relatively uncompacted gravel. The sundial garden, with a tiny cafe in a lovely setting, and the art gallery are two highlights. The two times of year to aim for are spring, for the azaleas and rhododendrons and the autumn for stunning tree colour.
David W — Google review
Had a really great day out in the gardens. Lots of lovely walking trails with fantastic views across the river. The gardens look very good even though it is the end of the summer. Had drinks and a snack in the old tennis courts. The restaurant looks nice as well. Ride on the steam train was very enjoyable. Dogs are welcome in all areas. You can also use the Gardener's World 241 card, what a great place.
Amanda F — Google review
Spent an absolutely cracking day visiting Exbury. It's an enormous site, 80-ish hectares. You can easily spend the entire day here exploring. Obviously, different things are going to be in bloom at different times so there's always going to be something interesting to see throughout the year. Paths are a mixture of surfaces: e.g., tarmac/pebble so book/hire an all terrain scooter if you or someone with you needs it. Dogs on a lead are welcome. Doggos are even allowed on the choo-choo (£7/per person extra). Loads of space for kids to exhaust themselves plus they have a dedicated play area and log trail. The usual amenities: loads of parking, restaurant, gift shop, plants for sale. Toilets are modern and everything works. Top tip: Gardener's World 2:1 is accepted and provides great VFM. Loads of activities throughout the year so check what's on via their website. All in all, a brilliant place to visit. Would deffo visit again...it must look stunning in the spring.
Robert M — Google review
First time visitors to the gardens and definitely not the last! We booked the Halloween train and it exceeded expectations- the actors were amazing and turned up the scare-factor by jumping out and as my kids are age 10 and 13, so they loved it! They didn’t jump out for the younger children though so mindful of ages. The gardens are beautiful in their autumnal glory and looking forward to re-visiting next year.
Hannah J — Google review
We had such a wonderful time at Exbury Gardens. The combination of the beautiful gardens and the steam railway was perfect for me and my son. He absolutely loved the train ride, and we enjoyed the scenic walks. It's a great place for children to run around and explore. A truly memorable day!
Sam M — Google review
Lovely visit at the end of summer. We were trained in horticulture, many years ago!! So we know our stuff and thought that Exbury was one of the best gardens we had visited. We particularly enjoyed the wide selection of trees. We know less about fungi and enjoyed seeing so many different varieties and were so lucky to have picked this time of year when we could see so many. We also enjoyed the specialist Nerine plant exhibition and bought a few to take home. We would like to add how lovely and dog friendly the gardens are too. A great day out.
Helen S — Google review
Had an amazing day at the gardens today. Lovely walks exploring the gardens with my girls. There was a Halloween 👻 trail and the ghost train quite frankly was amazing. A reall treat there must have been a lot of planning and effort gone into this. Got chatting with Dave who has a real passion for his railway and engines. We’ll be back!
Timothy N — Google review
Have been when the gardens were in full flower so nice to see the changes the autumn brings. Train had been adapted to ghost train and the actors kept us entertained throughout. Gardens beautiful as ever and the Nerines exhibition was a nice addition to our day.

Historical landmark
Hurst Castle, located at the end of a shingle spit near Lymington in the New Forest, is a hidden gem with a rich history. Built as a defense fortress by Henry VIII, it features impressive 38-ton guns and offers visitors an opportunity to explore its military past. Accessible via a scenic walk from Milford-on-Sea or a passenger ferry from Keyhaven, the castle also houses a lighthouse exhibition and cafe.
Hurst Castle is a great place to visit. My husband and I took the kids and we all had such a lovely day. We parked up at keyhaven and took the ferry which was great fun. The castle has so much to see and stunning views of the needles/Isle of Wight and the fabulous lighthouse. Staff were friendly and sociable. We stopped for lunch in the castle and sat at one of the benches provided. After we saw everything at the castle, we took a walk to the lighthouse and put our feet in the lovely clear water which the kids loved. We have all said that it is one of the best places we've visited so far and already want to plan a future trip back here. We are members of the English heritage and we got in for free, we only paid for the ferry crossing which was pretty good price wise. All in all a great cheap family day out with lots to see and admire.
Hannah F — Google review
Really enjoyed it here, a mix of the old and the more modern, great history. We caught the little ferry boat over which was lovely, we were going to go back the same way but decided to walk back along the spit, was about 2 miles out in the open and shingle all the way, was very windy on the way back but a nice walk none the less. It's a bit of a gem and not over priced, definitely worth reading all the signs to learn about the history and the changes the castle went through.
John B — Google review
I enjoyed my visit immensely. A great place to bring children to run around, although I suggest you use the ferry with the little ones as its a 2 mile walk from the carpark. Completely dog friendly I brought mine. He enjoyed sniffing around the rooms but was impatient to move on. So I photographed the information panels for later. There's a very small cafe and the toilets are open to the elements.
Brian T — Google review
Hurst Castle is an absolute gem. The walk from the car park to the castle is about 2 miles with lovely views of the Needles. You can get the ferry from Keyhaven to save on the walk. Once inside the castle, there’s so much to explore and the exhibitions are well presented and bring the stories of the castle to life. The views from the castle walls are breathtaking and you can see across to the Isle of Wight and watch the boats sail by. I’d highly recommend bringing a picnic and spending a few hours wandering, learning, and soaking up the atmosphere. A brilliant day out for families, history lovers, and anyone who enjoys a walk.
Simply W — Google review
We took the ferry across and then spent about 3 hours wandering round. Lots of different bits to see but the highlight are the views over to the Isle of White and the lighthouse. There is a little cafe out front and some rustic toilets inside. If you intend on being there over lunch I’d suggest bringing lunch with you.
Martin — Google review
Great morning out looking around this castle. Got the ferry there snd back which was great fun. Lovely views from the top of the castle overlooking isle of wight and beyond. Lot's of information given as you walk around.
Paul D — Google review
Great place to explore, by foot over shingle spit or by little boat. Lots of rooms to explore and learn history of the building, surrounding area and lighthouses in general. We had great time.
Irina M — Google review
This Castle has a lot to offer. Its history and role during various wars is well explained at various points inside the castle. There are many sections accessible only through narrow stairs. On an upper level there are lovely views across to Hust Beach and Keyhaven. In the other direction there is a clear view of the Isle of Wight.

Park
Lepe Country Park is a historical and picturesque destination offering various activities for visitors. The park features remnants of the Mulberry Harbours from the D-Day landings, providing a glimpse into its wartime significance. Additionally, it holds historical connections to Queen Victoria's first view of the Isle of Wight and being one of the last spots where the Titanic was seen from mainland Britain.
My friend and I took the dogs to Lepe on a week day and although it was the Easter holidays it wasn't overly busy which was nice. There's lots of parking and we parked in the top car park where there is a lovely green area for picnics and far reaching views. . We walked down past the cafe to the beach and turned to the left and had a lovely walk along the beach, down past the nature reserve. It's a lovely mixture of beach and countryside and of course the New Forest is just down the road for more lovely walks. This is a hidden gem of a place, perfect for families. Parking was £8, there is an adventure play area for kids and there is a block of clean toilets just behind the cafe.

Great place to park up and have a beach walk or picnic. Fantastic children's play area and cafe. Interesting d day info further along the beach
Andrew H — Google review
This place makes for a great day out, with a vast beach, views stretching over to the IOW and a modern cafe available to suit most tastes it’s a great spot to relax. An easy car park makes access a breeze.
Gareth T — Google review
Lovely circular walk through the countryside and along the coast. Really easy 2hr walk. Only downside with dogs is there's a lot of barbed wire fences, my Springer Spaniel got a cut on her back, luckily nothing serious.
Jane S — Google review
This is a lovely park along the Solent. There is the beach (shingle), a sensory garden, paths through the woods, and a café (very clean, small shop). There is a car park (administered by Hampshire County Council = expensive)
David L — Google review
Really nice place to spend the day! You have a few little beaches, multiple parks, a cafe and somewhere to get ice creams and a good amount of fields to set up! Highly recommend for the family
Simon D — Google review
We would have given more than 5 stars if we could. The first thing we noticed was how clean it was, no litter anywhere. We visited the cafe and found the food to be of good quality and very reasonably priced, it is also dog friendly.
Dolores K — Google review
Did, the Lepe loop walk which was lovely. Coastal, fields and woods. Had a lunch on the beech and then decided to go other direction to do "Dunkirk" walk. Amazed to find out what went from there to France as part of D day landing. Highly recommend both walks.

Visitors can also admire unique trees from around the world, including coastal redwoods and towering Douglas firs.
Love this place! Well maintained. Beautiful trees! Coffee and ice cream van at the parking is great after long walks. Be aware of ticks! For the first time during 10 years we’ve got 2 in one go.
Linda E — Google review
A beautiful location for a family day out or a romantic walk. There's 3 car parks which are usually busy, so I advise to arrive early. You have more chances to find a space in the smaller car parks which is the 1st one off the main road. In the main car park there's usually a coffee truck and ice cream. Picnic tables are also next to the main car park.
Guoda J — Google review
This is a stunning part of the New Forest with beautiful trails. The Tall Tree Trail is a personal favourite of mine, flanked by giant redwood trees it really feels magical to walk amongst these majestic trees. I grew up close to the New Forest and often return as it’s such a special place. This area, as well as Ornamental Drive are well worth visiting.
Louise W — Google review
Just magical, so beautiful to walk around. This is an enclosed/gated area part-way along the Tall Trees Trail, only takes 15 minutes to walk around and then re-join the main trail. Lots of interesting information boards along the way.
Isabel C — Google review
We visited from an Airbnb in Portsmouth. It took us about an hour to get there, but it was well worth the trip! A great place to escape into nature in the picturesque New Forest. We did both the Tall trees trail and Arboretum trail in about 2 hours and this was with plenty stops for chats on the benches and little diversions walking more into the forest. It’s just be right amount of walk if you’re looking for something light but energetic. There were toilets and a van serving ice cream with a small choice of dairy-free and gluten free options too and plenty of picnic benches dotted around. We ended the trip with a coffee trip into the nearby village of Lyndhurst. Well worth the visit!
Nazineful — Google review
A great walk around some beautiful countryside, pretty flat so easy for all ages. Lots to take in and explore. Can imagine it would be beautiful whatever the season.

Amazing place to go for a walk. I will coming back soon. It has public toilets. And there is a small food truck that has all the essentials. Ice cream, coffee, snacks Great place !

Good prices and a helmet included. I recently rented a Genesis gravel. Great components on the group set and breaks, SRAM apex I think. Only 650 size tyres on an XL bike was a bit odd for longer rides. Very easy to collect and return and heavy duty lock included if needed too. Oh and a saddle bag with full repair kit and spare tube! Everything you could want!

Legend....... friendly helpful staff great prices, above and beyond service. They really know there stuff. Would be 10 stars if had an option. This is my new favourite bike shop. My trailer looks epic, Thanks guys very happy 👍
Jack — Google review
Extremely kind and attentive staff. The bike was great, and was perfect for an 100k gravel ride round the New Forest trails. I booked the bike for two days as I thought I wouldn’t be back in time to return it. I ended up arriving back in time and they gave me a refund for the second day. Extremely generous, and definitely will return for bike hire in future. Only critique is it would be nice to have some higher spec gravel bikes available for hire. Thanks guys!
Sam W — Google review
Fantastic business, easy and seamless for renting a bike, helpful & friendly staff, informative with the available routes. I rented a fabulous e-bike, I was well informed, sent away well equipped with maps, puncture repair kits etc. The staff were extremely efficient and there was no waiting around at all, great customer service is such a refreshing find in this day & age. Also a very flexible rental service, no clock watching to be back by a certain time! I would definitely use this business again. My only criticism is that I would have rented a phone holder if I knew they were available, it was such a pain to keep stopping to check the map! Please offer a phone holder to every customer!
Eleanor — Google review
We used Cycle Experience Ltd on a recent visit to the New Forest. Couldn't recommend them enough. Straightforward online booking system, Polite and Helpful staff, and the equipment - Bikes, Helmets, Rucksacks, Locks etc all in great condition and well maintained. Will 100% use again.
Adam G — Google review
We loved the bikes! We loved that they provided maps with route recommendations. Also the hire price included helmets, a bag with spare inner tubes and puncture repair kit and anything else you might need in an emergency. The e bikes were a fabulous treat and exceeded our expectations, a really wonderful way to explore the new forest and the beautiful surroundings. The full charge allowed us to explore pretty much everywhere we wanted to go and made it very easy to bike up steep hills. The team were incredibly friendly and efficient, but the time we walked over to get the bikes they were ready to go. The only thing I’d suggest to someone is bring a phone mount so you can follow the paths as we kept stopping to check which way to go. Overall, thank you so so much for a wonderful experience, we will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the new forest in the future.

Extremely easy to book and receive bikes. It wasn’t clear that we would receive free helmets with our booking so wasted our time bringing our own- this could be improved. Their app for finding trails to use was very easy to use and helpful. Staff were polite and quick to sort out our booking.

Visitors can also enjoy animal feeding and explore beautiful gardens. Additionally, the New Forest Golf Club nearby provides an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to experience a picturesque 18-hole course within the natural forest surroundings.
Coming from Canada this was a big part of our trip for our child and the park didn't let down. Cleanliness seemed as a top priority and all the staff experiences were pleasant. Food was decent and priced as you would think an amusement park would. Bathrooms and smoking areas available across the park. The Peppa Pig portion is where we spent most of our day and it was well kept and looked up to date.

You need more than a day to explore everything here!! That was our only complain. It is a great place to spend time with kids. No water related rides/pools for adults which we found disappointing as we came prepared for one (without checking in detail online). That's why the 4 star. There's a splash area for kids and that's it for anything water related as far as I can tell. Would give it 5 star purely for everything kids related. There's lots to explore here. I read on one the reviews to get a packed lunch and I'm glad I read it and we did bring something to eat during the day which did save us some ££!!. We went on a weekday during the school holidays and it wasn't that crowded. Parking is hassle free and they guide you to an empty spot. We went to Peppa Pig World first and managed to get on few of the rides without queuing for long. We found this to be better than Legoland based on our overall experience. Would be going back to explore the unexplored sections/rides hopefully soon!!

Paultons Park is a beautiful, well kept and very themed in the seperate of areas in the park. There is so so many family rides what everyone can enjoy. The ride access pass was so easy to use. The food in the Route 83 diner was really nice. Amazing price value in the shop & food outlets. The toilets was very clean. If the rides are getting to much you have got the gorgeous well kept gardens and animals to walk round. Paultons deserved the best theme park of the year as I had no faults with anything. 🤍

Stunning grounds, went in the summer and it was beautiful just been now(end October)and the work they have put into the grounds for Halloween are fantastic, great to see all the kids excited even before they got to the rides... So clean, the ground staff do an amazing job.. Definitely buy tickets in advance. And I would advise to take food and drink with u as it is a bit pricey. It's a cashless site but you can get a card on entry and put cash on it

Great theme park, not only for younger kids but also for big boys along with adults. Went in Halloween and it was all Pumpkins everywhere. Nicely decorated, enough rides. Visited for 2 days with short break, but if either young or old kids only or if managed properly, all rides and parks can be covered in a day.
Nirav D — Google review
Ample free parking, easy check in, well done with the halloween theme, waits on some rides are reasonable. Their phone app is super useful showing locations and waiting times. Staff is friendly, rides are all safe, place and toilets are clean. On stage shows were entertaining. Great place for a family day.

What a lovely experience for my little man, even we the parent joined in and had good fun. The organisation was excellent, friendly people good atmosphere. The fact that you get to ride on all the rides and fun fair they have to offer.Definitely recommending and we will be going again that is if mummy pig decide to have fourth piglet

The rides are good, waiting times not too bad. A spacious site with plenty of places to get food and drink. Ive reduced by 2 stars as, when my son lost his phone on a ride, they couldn't be less interested if they tried. They said there was nothing theu could do and didn't take our details in case they did find it. I do understand that this probably happens all the time but also bit of compassion isn't hard. Won't be going back.

The Huntsman, located in Brockenhurst, has undergone a stylish transformation by Marstons and the Concorde Group. The interior boasts an industrial chic vibe with metal fixtures, reclaimed parquet floors, and plush velour booths. The trendy bedrooms feature window-shaped mirrors, bare-bulb light fittings, and bold patterned fabrics reminiscent of a chic city hotel. For added privacy, guests can opt for rooms in the converted stable block.
Our family lunch at The Huntsman was a great choice. Booking ahead meant we had a lovely, comfortable table in a relaxed and inviting space. The food was a highlight — clearly made with care, packed with flavour, and beautifully plated. The quality, portion size, and attentive service made it a fantastic value. From beginning to end, the experience was smooth and enjoyable. The staff were welcoming and made us feel at home. A fantastic New Forest venue — we’ll definitely visit again.

This was my second visit and it will definitely be my last. I ordered roast beef with no horseradish and a side of cauliflower cheese. The cauliflower cheese never arrived, and the beef was dumped on a bed of horseradish anyway. The beef & Yorkshire pudding were inedible, the potatoes were practically raw, the “vegetables” consisted of leeks and a single carrot, and the plate was swimming in a thin, watery gravy that resembled soup. A roast dinner should be comforting — this was an absolute disaster.

Fabulous 2 night stay at The Huntsman. Newly refurbished room, which was very cosy. Tasty breakfast. Great location, perfect for Forrest walks and even a trip to the Isle of White, which we did! Friendly and helpful staff, they kindly helped us with the trains and ferry as we were a little unsure. We'll be back.

We reserved a table for a family lunch at The Huntsman and were so glad we did. The seating was comfortable and well laid out, creating a really relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen clearly takes pride in what they do — the food was absolutely spot-on, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Great value for the quality, portion size, and service we received. From start to finish, everything ran smoothly, and the staff made us feel welcome and well looked after. A lovely spot for a meal in the New Forest — we’ll definitely be back!

Well what a lovely place. Staff friendly and welcoming. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Nicely decorated place. Was very busy. Reasonably priced. Had cocktails which were good. We had food, I ordered Crab burger which for me didn't work but did try. My partner had a burger which he said was good. This is situated in Brockenhurst on the main road between Lyndhurst and Lymington. Definitely would recommend and go again
Sarah H — Google review
We only had food and drinks here. What we had was tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. The darts and shuffleboard were a real hit with my sons and the pub was very dog friendly. The outside bar was also really convenient.

Came here with family whilst staying in Brockenhurst. The staff were very friendly from when we arrived. Got us water for the table without us having to ask. When food was coming out our server went past a couple of times and looked to make sure all had arrived. He noticed 2 were not with the others and was going to chase as the remaining dishes came. The service was quick smooth and we were not rushed at any point. Our server Joshua was great through the whole night. Highly recommend coming here. Will hopefully return before going back home. At busy times would recommend booking so as to avoid disappointment. At the end of our holiday we decided to come here for breakfast. Didn't disappoint. Would highly recommend coming for any meal time they are open. Staff all friendly and helped book when they website messed up.

Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. Our roast dinners were tasty but served on cold plates which made food cold. Dish of horseradish sauce was cracked and contained a hair which was off-putting. Staff were apologetic and did offer us a discounted bill to compensate.

The Snakecatcher is a lively and welcoming pub that is popular among locals and visitors alike. It offers a unique dining experience where patrons can cook their choice of meat, fish, or vegetables on hot rocks right at their table. The pub features an excellent range of local drinks, delicious food menu, and hosts energetic live music events for all ages to enjoy. Additionally, it has a lovely large play area and children's menu, making it a great destination for families.
Lovely place, amazing gardens to sit in. Gorgeous food. The only reason we’ve given 4 star on service is that you have to order food at the bar and it’s quite busy then when you’ve waited for food to come they bring it out then tell you to go get your own cutlery and sauces. Which I think could have been noted at the bar when ordering so you can grab it on the way past if not depending where you are you have to walk all the way back for it. Or like every other place I’ve been they’ve brought it out for you. Decent prices for where you are and the quality.

Went in here and was busy. Waited to be served bar staff not very welcoming. Most tables were reserved, which was nice to see. Plenty of seating inside. Did find one area loud as had TV on. We managed to get a table and ordered food. My partner had what was supposed to be large fish and chips but was definitely not large. I ordered classic fish pie, well it was not nice at all it was bits salmon with mash potato, I did tell waitress but didn't seem interested, Aldi fish pie definitely better. Disappointed as wanted to try here. I wouldn't recommend but everyone has different tastes.

Nice food and pub garden, but way overpriced! I don't feel we got value for money. Camembert sharer £20, 1 small Camembert served in nice baked bread bowl but very cheap generic bread on the side (and not much of it) which greatly lets it down.

Lovely sea food sharing platter. Came out quick and hot. Cost £19.50. We sat in the beer garden behind which was lovely in the sun. Inside was clean only problem there are steps to bar and toilets so not very good if you have a wheelchair. There's a pool table and wall mounted tvs.

Moors Valley Country Park & Forest is a sprawling park and woodland offering an array of activities for all ages. Families can enjoy wooden play structures like the Bewilderness climb and Crocodile Crossing, while thrill-seekers can tackle the Go Ape Tree Top Challenge. The park also features dedicated dog areas with refreshment stations, making it perfect for furry friends.
I hadn't visited in ages and I'll make sure I don't leave it too long before coming back. The amazing weather helped of course. Good to see they're reinvesting into the place with added installations, additional seating, and a refreshment stand on the play trail. Kids were happy and there are far worse surroundings. The woodland is beautiful. We parked offside and walked in which paid for the ice creams!
Tony C — Google review
Such a fabulous place for young children! Yes the parking charge is high but there is no entrance fee so it seemed good value to us, the one mile play trail of ten wooden structures to climb and explore dotted around the forest was the perfect length. Lovely park area near the main playground to bring a picnic etc. We didn't go on the train (costs extra) as there was more than enough to do without that.
Victoria T — Google review
Parking crazy expensive. I fully understand this is put towards maintaining the lovely area but I would prefer to pay a one off fee then relax knowing we aren't being charged by the minute/the longer we stay the more it costs. We stayed for less than two hours, for a short walk around to break up a long journey and see if the go ape looked like something we could do with our kids on another visit or use our bikes in the area. It cost us over £12 for the parking fee! We won't be returning here unless we park outside if the area and walk/ride in.

Close drove to Southampton. Very big park with many free playgrounds and trails and few ££ activities. Big parking, toilets, cafes at the start. Bike rental available. No bins on whole trail only at the start so better buy cofee/ice creams and slushies on your way back. Toilets only at the start and close at 5.30.
JB L — Google review
This place is amazing ! I barely review much but what a place I was roaming around for hours, amazing views if you hike about abit there’s bike hire there go ape adventure trials with mini landrovers for kids 2 mini steam trains, cafes dotted about water stations and to top it off strangers wishing you good morning and good afternoon as you pass them by! Loved it here Excuse my breathing I have copd
John W — Google review
The park itself has a lovely range of activities walks with the wooden play activities, the playground, the train, Go ape has several different activities also. I have younger children who prefer the nets and while this can be busy as we went recently where there was a party of 30 usually it’s not quite that busy. The staff at the nets are very friendly. There are toilets, cafe although we’ve never eaten there we bring food and there is a great ice-cream kiosk too. I’d say too much too do in a day. The car park is however quite pricy. A few hours was £14 which when you’ve paid £50 for the nets feels a lot! But if you’re coming gotta walk that’s all your going to pay.
George E — Google review
In my opinion the parking charges are a bit high. Overall a good place where you can spend the whole day walking around and let kids play in different playgrounds(free of charge). Of course there are some paid attractions like tree top nets , zip lines , mini golf , mini range rover trail and a mini steam train.

Lymington Sea Water Swimming Baths, located in the Georgian seafaring town of Lymington, offer a unique swimming experience. The baths feature an inflatable obstacle course, making it a fun destination for families with children. Lifeguards are always on duty to ensure safety. These historic open-air sea water baths were built in the early 19th century and are known for their health-giving waters and natural mud minerals.
Went as a spectator to watch family members doing SUP. Prices seems very reasonable. Plenty of seating for the spectators, some in the shade too. Café kiosk selling drinks etc. Changing facilities with shower. The Salt water pool has an inflatables course, swimming area and the SUP section. Plenty of staff around. Lots of fun for all the family

Great inflatable water park. Water is nice and clean. Salt water, but teenagers and adults can touch the bottom so can avoid head going under most of the time. Wet suits were advised even in summer but not too bad without. Private cubicle changing rooms available, and showers for after. Great chips at cafe. Huge variety and amounts of inflatable obsticles and runs to choose from, and the 2 hour session is so much better than other water parks I've been to.
Michael H — Google review
Such a great place for all ages. The water is cold but you can hire wet suits for £6. The sessions are almost two hours so it’s decent value for money. Also a nice little cafe and New Forest ice cream. Showers and changing rooms are sufficient. Lots of seating dotted around for spectators. Parking is sometimes busy so leave plenty of time. We did the 11am-12.50 session followed by a drive in to the new Forest for a picnic after, making for a good family day out. Adults can spectate for £2.50 or swim in the separate section for just £4.50… or of course take part. Special mention to staff today who were fab and super informative. We were greeted by a lifeguard who gave us a rundown of the rules and safety info which was much appreciated. Also everyone has to wear a buoyancy aid, which is provided.

Embark on the Solent Way, a circular 5-mile walk starting from Bournemouth station that leads you into the lush New Forest National Park. This route offers diverse landscapes, from heathlands to thick forests, and takes you through Denny Wood for an extended exploration of England's beautiful woodlands.
Friday 16th February 2024 and a really good day. I could hear my own footsteps as well as the sound of the geese and the Oyster Catcher's. I walked from Lymington and walked as far as Keyhaven and this was when it got interesting. There is a sign in Keyhaven that says " Cycle Path to Lymington". I ignored it , walked around the harbour, followed the map or so I thought, walked past the Gun Inn pub and discovered a footpath sign and assumed it would be the pathway I wanted to walk back to Lymington. Please don't laugh, I ended up in Great New bridge copse and I think I am the first person to leave a review of it on Google. I definitely walked my 10,000 step's today. The copse is very muddy. I would like to say I completed the walk around the nature reserve but I didn't and got my boots muddy( and my hands when I did an uncontrolled skid and dive ) The walk around the nature reserve was great and peaceful. Even the dog's were friendly. All in all a great way to spend a Friday on a winter's day. 🌟🌟Thursday 9th May 2024. I decided to complete the 10 km walk on what has proved to be the hottest day of the year so far. I started out in Lymington and reached the " cycle path to Lymington" sign. I think the road is originally a single lane road that has been handed over to cyclist's and walker's. A lot of the track reverts to shingle and clearly flooded during the winter. Along the way back to Lymington i saw a pheasant, numerous horse's and great countryside, field's and a great view of the coast path in the distance. It is a long walk but should be easier if you cycle. A lot of the tarmac route can be avoided if you become adventurous and explore the pathways as well. Obviously I didn't use Pennington car park but it seemed popular and would be really convenient for people walking around this side of the marshes. The walking route around is well signposted and quite easy to follow. The route is advertised as 10km The the route back to Lymington from Keyhaven does feel shorter. . The pathway's link up so you don't have to walk the whole way. The next stage is a Lymington to Hurst Castle walk. I have happy memories of walking the shingle spit 🤣 . Great for the leg muscles.

Absolutely stunning walkway! Easy to keep on walking and walking and before you know it you have covered 10 miles plus! The marshlands are littered with wild horses, birds and stunning scenery which stretches to the Isle of Wight needles! We walked along here in January and the wind was bitterly cold so wrap up warm and wear sensible foot wear as it gets incredibly muddy! One of the most enjoyable sea walks I have done!

We love coming her. The car park is close and the toilets get cleaned regularly but be aware you can't park by the bridge for free any more. The Solent way gives you a good walk; bike ride; or even a run. Plenty to see and if your like us there is plenty of bird spotting to be done.

Lovely place to spent an afternoon. We passed here on our way to Dorset with the kids and dog so was a perfect place to get rid of some energy and have a good snack and coffee. Had sausage rolls, cheese toasties and lovely iced coffee (because it was a hot day today!) Had lots of toilets and very clean. Lots of play parks to suit different ages, plus a trail through the forest with various things to climb safely. Very impressed. Also had a dog wash, although we didn't need it this time.
Jody-Lan C — Google review
Used to love visiting this park, proper sense in the words country park. Now it’s just an industrialised ‘conservation area’ They’ve dug up a field to build a big car park, installed a monstrosity of barriers which are flood lit to make sure you will pay to enjoy the forever dwindling countryside on the edge of the city. The irony is the signs polluting everywhere stating ‘Save time & pay by app!’ I don’t want to even LOOK at the time, I’ve come for a bit of peace & quiet & enjoy the surroundings! It’s not the biggest of parks but has trails, a GO Ape, an adventure park for children & a decent cafe, you can even pay to go and throw an axe or two 🤦🏻‍♂️ Such a shame but it’s all about the money with most things now…
A G — Google review
Brilliant set up. Great space for children and dogs. Toilets are very clean, café staff were friendly. The pathways are accessible with a pushchair, just a shame some people can't pick up their dog poo. Parking seems expensive, but when you see how lovely they keep it, you don't mind paying. Plus it's cheaper than days out elsewhere. Definitely will be returning.

Great for children of all ages. New trails have been added which are fun to explore and all authentically made. Plenty of parking across the site. Go-ape, cafe and park runs. It’s a regular place to visit to be out and about and get fresh air whilst having fun!

Often, bring my Grandsons, they love it here. There is plenty of space for a picnic or an ice cream from the cafe. Toilets are kept nice and clean. Also, there are lots of areas to walk the dogs, too, and the dog wash is a godsend.
Marie H — Google review
There's plenty of parking (I went on a Saturday about 11.30am) and the parking prices weren't too bad considering the park was free to enter other than that. We walked around the brown trail but it wasn't obvious where to start from and I think we went the wrong way. There wasn't many posts on the way round to show you were on the right track. The main field area next to the car park was nice and spacious and there's a little playground there if you're taking kids, plus plenty of benches to sit down at. The only disappointing bits were the lack of decent signage about where to start walks and posts showing you are on the right track and that they advertise a river walk on all the signs but it seems you can't do that anymore. Also there is no real path for the meadow walk and the first bridge we came to was questionable to cross on that trail. Overall it was a nice walk, even though we got a bit lost, and we would go again.

Royal Victoria Country Park, located on the site of a former military hospital in Netley Abbey, Southampton, offers a wide range of activities for the whole family. The park features a kids' playground, miniature railway, tearoom, ancient woodlands, large open spaces with picnic areas and family BBQ spots. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views across Southampton Water and watch busy shipping activities. Additionally, the park hosts various events and offers options for glamping.
Spent a very enjoyable few hours at Royal Victoria Country Park next to Southampton water with plenty of space to walk around as well as visiting the old chapel which is all that is left of the previous hospital building. In the ground you’ll also find the military cemetery where there are graves from both the first world and second world war. There are plenty of path to walk around the ground but the highlight was the visit to the old Chapel to see the history of the hospital and see many of the stories from those who worked or were treated. Well worth a few hours visiting. Plenty of car parking a café in the chapel and also a big restaurant with children’s play area and a small railway.
Shaun L — Google review
This is a great country park for the great various activities and facilities the park offers. Although it had a good picnic area, I would recommend you definitely bring your own food, the cafe is absolutely extortionate and so overpriced. I ordered their fish fingers and chips for my son and was given 8 chips and 1 fish finger, which is ridiculous. Thankfully, we also bought a picnic from home, but as it was a cold day, my son wanted something hot, thus the cafe order. With that said, the park itself was brilliant. The little steam train was a joy to ride for all ages. The playground was enjoyed by the kids from the 2m5 Yr old to a 7 year old. The little 'beach' was fun, and we collected shells and pebbles. The grounds were clean, and we had wished we had bought bikes as it seems like a lovely country park to explore on foot and bike. I would return and recommend this park. However, I definitely would also recommend bringing your own food. The only 'food' that was worth its value was the Jude's ucecream on offer, and we were impressed by the range of vegan options.

Went to see The Lost World of Dinosaurs. They were good and some really great and huge dinosaurs to make kids happy. They were placed in woods so it was better. But they can do more by having more and better condition dinosaurs rather than worn out ones. Not much options to buy food other than burgers, chips and ice cream and drinks. Huge area for picnic and roaming.

Lovely walk. The red walk was a good distance, not too long and well marked. Carpark was in good order and not too busy. The walk route is a mix of woodland and the open moor.

Lovely place to walk.. clean toilets next to free car park.. Wild ponies wandering around and ice cream van at the end.. Just make sure you set satnav to Whitefield moor not the posted postcode

Beautiful place for a walk in a loop, with short or longer option which is well signposted. Great views and bridges to cross the river.

Nice spacious car park, wide open flat moor, with a forest and stream close by. Toilets provided.

Great spot in the New Forest. Good for a picnic, huge space to play, go for a walk or even walk down to the stream for a paddle. Lots of wildlife. Added bonus of toilets in the carpark too, plus usually an ice cream van.

Thorness Bay Holiday Park, located on the peaceful Isle of Wight coastline between Cowes and Yarmouth, offers a range of accommodation options such as lodges and chalets with fully equipped kitchens. In addition to having a pool and entertainment facilities, this Parkdean Resorts holiday park is known for its family-friendly amenities including an indoor swimming pool, sports court, adventure play area, shop, bar, restaurant, and launderette.
Lovely Holiday Park to stay, to which I have visited several times previously. Having great amenities suchasa indoors swimming pool and a safe playground area for children. Having a Club house, live cabaret acts and not forgetting get your dabbers out "Bingo". The Holiday Park over looks the picturesque Thorness Bay. Our caravan was very clean and tidy on our arrival, finding it having central heating, double glazing, a full gas cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave oven .All the beds having been made up.on our arrival. Great location for easy travelling around the Island with Cowes only a 16 minutes drive away. All in all it's an ideal family Park for the young and old alike

Upon arriving at our caravan everything seemed ok, upon further inspection our main cabin bed sheets had many black wiry hairs on the sheet and duvet. When turning the heating on in the caravan we noticed we had no heating or hot water and the boiler was reading an error code. My husband rang reception to report both things and was told an engineer would be out to look at the boiler asap and house keeping would come and change the bedding. The engineer turnt up very quickly and fixed the problem which was low pressure. Later that night when we tried the hot water again to have a shower, there was no hot water again and boiler reading same code. We rang reception again to report and also to say house keeping had not been to change the sheets yet. They sent out the engineer again who sorted it once again and told us that they had a boiler gas engineer on site that day and he would come and have a look at the boiler as he did not know why this was happening. No one showed up and my husband had to keep sorting the boiler out himself every time we needed hot water. With housekeeping they did eventually show up but knocked on our door and threw the bag of clean sheets at my husband and drove off. This is not what we expected as we were told house keeping was coming to change the sheets. Felt very disappointed that we had to change the dirty sheets even though this was not caused by us. Rest of the caravan was clean. After the initial problems we did have a restful stay and entertainment was good. Found one member of staff at the barhouse to be quiet rude when ordering drinks. When order placed he never spoke. Just poured our drinks and said the total. No please, no thank you, no pleasantries at all. (This was all week, not just a one off) we felt like we were bothering him every time we ordered something. I wish staff wore name tags so I could at least report him to the manager but difficult when not knowing the name of the staff member.

4 of us shared a 3 bed caravan which was clean. The twin rooms are very small. There were plenty of pans, cups, plates and cutlery. The caravan we had did not have any outside parking so we had to walk with our luggage from a parking bay which could be difficult if you have any mobility problems. The site has a grocery shop, chip shop, ice cream/dessert kiosk, on site bar and restaurant, entertainment every night, swimming pool, football pitch, access to the beach. The staff on site were very friendly and helpful. Thorness Bay is tucked away in beautiful surroundings. I would recommend for families with children or pets. We could not get wifi in the caravan but it was available at the club house.
Kathryn O — Google review
We spent a week there. If you looking for a REAL family tech free holiday you will find it there! There are no mobile data or network available in the park at all! Wifi only available around the main buildings and entertainment area. So if you would like to have a little go on your phone in the bed,,, it will be impossible! Better to take some board game with you! TV is the same! Not much reception so ca 5 channels available. The rooms were relatively clean, but windows were extremely dirty. One living room sofa was disgustingly smelly. It was stunk! Someone probably poured milk on it months earlier. All knife were completely blunt. Useless! The positive side: entertainment was fantastic, indoor pool was clean and fun! Kitchen items was nice and clean, built in fridge was big and looked after!

Stayed here in early May for a few days, had a wonderful time. It's a good location in the north, not too far from anything (not that the Isle is big), really stunning view of the bay too as you're up high. Plenty of wind in the heat. We saw lots of cute baby rabbits about. Caravan was good but oddly hot constantly and had a weird smell, not a bad smell mind, but hot air has a smell believe it or not. We kept attempting to turn the boiler down/off, but no luck. Didn't bother us much, but worth mentioning.
MGX93dot — Google review
Have just checked in for a family holiday in a caravan and must say, the worst caravan stay we have had. The room is absolutely filthy, not cleaned and absolutely run down. For the price charged this is just not up to standard. The caravan was absolutely covered in cobwebs and spent half our first day killing insects all around the inside of the caravan. This has not been cleaned for a long time. The gentlemen at the amusement arcade was amazing, being friendly, had a great chat and gave great recommendations for the Isle of Wight. The restaurant also had decent food and attention was quick but absolute let down by the caravan. Would definitely not be returning here again nor recommending
Daniel — Google review
Absolute dive. Apart from a 5 minute walk to the beach, that’s about as good as it gets. Very busy with cars blasting up and down all day and most of the night too. Lorry’s arriving at 5am blasting up the road and over the ‘speed bump’ shaking our caravan. Toilets were abysmal with hair wrapped around every drain hole and spiders/bugs from 1993 still in there, food was burnt although we only ate once out of desperation. Thankfully we stayed in our touring caravan so we made use of our own toilet, shower and I cooked most evenings as I love to cook so I used fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection and served on clean plates with a smile 😊. All the facilities looked tired, there were broken bits of the playground, the back of the swimming pool area resembled a local council tip, the general upkeep was lacking some serious work to get it to a good standard and I even got challenged by a ‘groundskeeper’ for playing a bit of golf with my lad (I didn’t do any damage), yet my caravan and awning were situated in a chasm like the Grand Canyon. The staff were mostly young and inexperienced but pleasant enough. They lacked some basic manners but the old lady in the Nisa shop accused of us being thieves for merely taking things out of our basket for her to scan! Rude. We arrived having booked a fully serviced pitch and were directed to what can only be described as the ‘Ukraine’ experience. It was obviously where seasonal workers were located so no views, rough pitches and caravans strewn all over the place so we asked to be moved. When we challenged for a refund as we were now on a grass with hook up only, we were told no. Nice one Parkdean. We will never book with this company again. If you’re touring, go 5 minutes in either direction. There’s a lovely off grid site right on the beach down Rolls Hill. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. You have been warned.

Have a fantastic holiday here, the premium double wide caravan was amazing, everything we needed, the resort itself is a little dated but it's great place to bring your kids for a proper break, plenty to do and lots of activities. The onside shop is a bit limited but you can get most of your needs here, the chippy was great, good quality food at a fair price. The resort is clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly and helpful, would definitely return here

Holiday park
Long Meadow Campsite in New Forest offers a back-to-nature experience with basic tent and camper pitch sites, along with washrooms. The campsite is family-friendly and provides modern facilities such as free Wi-Fi, washing up facilities, hairdryers, and water points throughout the site. It is ideally located in the heart of the national park, offering immediate access to walking and cycling paths. Nearby attractions include the lovely forest village of Brockenhurst.
A lovely camp site, 2 minutes from the forest with cycle tracks and paths. Brockenhurst is 15 minutes away. Large sized pitches, lots of room for kids to play. Toilet and shower facilities well maintained and clean, however showers (4) often very busy and a 10-20 minute queue. Nonetheless they are warm enough and do the job. On site laundry room available if required. Coffee and ice cream can be purchased from the site shop.
Joanne E — Google review
We had a lovely stay tenting at Long Meadow campsite. It was clean and tidy, especially the toilet facilities that surpassed anything I've ever experienced before. The water was really hot fur washing dishes. The campsite was level and flat, peaceful and picturesque with fallow deer walking around our tent through the night. The staff were helpful and friendly. We'll definitively be coming back.
James W — Google review
I absolutely loved this campsite! It was peaceful, in a beautiful setting and with great facilities. It's super easy to access the New Forest with various footpaths/cycle tracks, and the nearest village is a 30 minute walk away. Would definitely recommend and I will be going back!
Cara C — Google review
Long Meadow Campsite is beautiful, friendly and perfect for a camping trip in the new forest. The pitches are lovely and spacious and it has a really friendly atmosphere. However, I do think the toilets and showers, in particular, do need an update. The shower cubicles were a little grimy and hot then cold. The tiles had gone yellow and the sinks weren’t not the most clean. If they managed to upgrade the toilet and shower facilities it be absolutely perfect!
Jacob D — Google review
We had a fantastic stay at Long Meadow Campsite with our toddler and two border collies. The location is great—just a short walk from Brockenhurst and with direct access to footpaths that lead straight into the New Forest. The highlight of our trip was waking up to a herd of deer right outside our caravan, even if it did mean we couldn’t keep our dog fencing up overnight, a small price to pay for such a unique experience. The facilities were decent and kept clean, though they did get a little busy over the weekend. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Campsite – Friendly Staff, Peaceful Setting & Great for Families We stayed at Long Meadow Campsite on Friday 11th July, and honestly, it was everything we hoped for and more. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a genuinely lovely man at the gate who welcomed us warmly and took the time to explain everything clearly. He even showed us photos of the deer that regularly visit the site, which just added to the charm and made us feel instantly relaxed and looked after. The atmosphere was peaceful, the pitches were spacious and well laid out, and the facilities were spotless. It’s clear that the site is well cared for and run by people who genuinely take pride in what they do. There are beautiful walks right from the site, and it’s an ideal location for anyone looking to enjoy the New Forest properly. We had such a great experience that we tried to book again for the Saturday — but unfortunately, they were fully booked. We really wished we’d been able to stay another night. Instead, we ended up going to Red Shoot Camping Park, which did have availability, but it was a completely different experience. We actually left that site early because it just didn’t compare to the care, atmosphere, and comfort we found at Long Meadow. We’ll absolutely be returning to Long Meadow in the future — it’s a proper family-friendly campsite run by genuinely kind people, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
George P — Google review
We had a wonderful first family camping trip to Long Meadow, so much so, we returned home for a wedding to then book to return the following week. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. It’s in a prefect location in that this campsite backs onto the forest itself, with an amazing stream for dogs and children to enjoy being free and outside. Everything is within close driving distance whether that’s shops, different villages and beaches. We cannot thank Ian enough for helping us book our second trip to Long Meadow.
Hannah W — Google review
We had the most wonderful stay here last week and we already can't wait to go again, the site is vast, clean, beautiful and in the best place to explore the New Forest, so many beautiful walks near by. The surrounding rivers with wild horses were a gorgeous welcome but waking on our 1st morning to 40+ wild deers relaxing next to us was a site to behold for us and the children. Facilities are perfect and the hosts and their team were so lovely and friendly, we will absolutely be back and are so grateful we've found this site 💙

Second visit for a beer & pizza. The member of the team at the bar was very knowledgeable about the beers. Various other drinks are also available with gin, juice & coke. Bar snacks of pork scratching, crisps & nuts go well with the beer. We ordered pizzas which are made fresh to order & were deliciously with just the right amount of seasoning. There are bottled beers available & merchandise available to purchase. More parking is now available at weekends so we are going to return again

I took my partners well worked 4x4 in for a freshen up and Wow, ha ha, came back gleaming both in and out. The price was very responsible for the time and efforts (quoted more by another local detailer) and the results were genuinely fantastic. I might get away with no new car for some time now for my partner- so Cheers. Trustworthy, conscientious (asked us if he could have for a little longer as wated to do a Stellar job) and reliable. No worries recommend him.

The service and attention to detail was the best I’ve ever had……Stuart is very passionate about his business and his knowledge of exactly what my car needed meant I collected a show room worthy car. I would not go anywhere else and I’ll be passing on his details to all my colleagues-not something I do lightly.

Stuart has cleaned my car several times always to a very high standard, he was very professional and reasonable priced will be using again!! Thankyou Stuart

I only ever use businesses that I know or who are recommended to me, Stuart was recommended and gave me two options and prices for the required work, everything went smoothly from pricing, booking in and collection, I had some very deep scratches in my car but when I picked it up it was in showroom condition, I would recommend Armstrong detailing to anyone.
