Kingsport Greenbelt is a versatile paved trail that links various parts of the city, including neighborhoods, parks, downtown areas, schools, and activity centers. The pathway offers a scenic journey alongside gentle streams, marshlands, open meadows, and historic buildings. It spans approximately 24 miles round trip and provides opportunities for walking, running, and cycling. Visitors can enjoy stunning river views on the west end and observe wildlife on the east end.
Great walking trail

Such an amazing attraction to have in a city. There are so many cool features—from the beautiful river views on the West end to the wildlife you see on the East end. It’s been so much fun exploring the Greenbelt!

Great place to walk, run or cycle. Round trip (end to end, there and back) is about 24 miles. Note - the section opposite The Netherland Inn is being replaced and the temporary gravel surface is unkind to mountain bikes

Allandale Mansion, a stunning 1953 Georgian-style mansion filled with priceless antiques, has been the backdrop for various events over the past two decades. From elegant weddings and art exhibitions to business meetings and Fun Fest activities, this historic estate offers surprisingly economical event spaces. Once a 500-acre farm, it now stands as an integral part of Kingsport's civic and social life. The picturesque grounds are perfect for photography sessions by the pond or during special events like the annual car show.
Visited to look into renting the area for a small wedding. We found exactly what we were looking for at a reasonable price. Can't wait to get married here later this year and for our guests to experience the beauty that this place has to offer as well.
Jeff O — Google review
My daughter got married at Brooke's Pavillion, and she said it was everything she dreamed it would be. The staff were kind and helpful, even ensuring the chairs were all dry after a surprise storm.
April M — Google review
Went to a wedding yesterday at Harvey's Barn at Allandale. I was embarrassed for the couple. The wedding was outside and nothing was cleaned up. Large tree branches laying around, the gazebo had leaves all through it, and the side walk they walked down was not even cleaned off. The reception was up stairs in the barn that was at least 100 degrees. 1 little box fan up there with the very high ceiling fans. Unbelievable for what they charge to rent this place.
Rene R — Google review
This was my family's first visit to the mansion. Was a neat experience. We toured the mansion, the barns, and the activities that were available. There were many helpful staff wherever we went to answer questions. Our favorite spot was the open picnic barn. My Granddaughters had a fun time dancing around in it. Would be a great spot to rent for almost any event.
Bobbi G — Google review
Cool place to photograph, especially around by the pond. Great place for events and activities as well. It is really neat when they open the mansion itself and allow people to tour through the inside. This happened during the annual car show at least when I was there. There's several nice spots to do photo shoots and it's a good place to walk and enjoy the outdoors a but as well. The amphitheater is really nice in the warmer months, too. There's food vendors who come set up and they invite really good bands to come play. Definitely expect to park in the grass most the time when you go, though. This is usually where the trash can painting for Fun Fest happens as well.
Mary B — Google review
This place is amazing. We were fortunate enough to be able to get married in the mansion, and everything was clean and beautiful. We still come to fish the ponds with our little boy 10 years later. Man time flys

I just had my wedding at Brooks Pavilion and it was absolutely perfect. The pavilion was perfect for the reception and the ceremony in front of the lake was beautiful.

I've officiated a few weddings at Allendale Mansion and have loved every one of them. Everyone was very accommodating, the brides & grooms always looked gorgeous and dapper. Adaquate room for activities and plenty of restrooms. I'd gladly choose Allendale again if you're looking for a wedding venue that's in your budget.

Netherland Inn Museum in Kingsport is a historic site dating back to 1802, featuring a Federal-style inn with period furnishings. Situated on the banks of the Holston River, it is listed on the National Registry of Historical Sites and has welcomed notable figures like Presidents James K. Polk, Andrew Jackson, and Andrew Johnson. Originally serving as a stop for salt traders, the museum offers insights into its past as a distribution point and later an inn for travelers between Tennessee and Kentucky.
Lovely site with beautiful mementos of the history that took place there. The tour guides were wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable! I so enjoyed my visit and will be returning soon.
Jay P — Google review
I had never been to Netherland Inn even though I have drove passed many times and lived here for many years. I was looking at events on Facebook and found that Afternoon Tea. I love doing afternoon tea, but my boyfriend loves it even more. I read the post many times to look for age or gender restrictions. There were none. I shared the post with him, and he bought tickets almost immediately for both of us. We arrived early and checked it. It was the most lovely experience. We sat in the back corner with a mother/daughter couple. The place was beautifully decorated. The food was wonderful. The tea was wonderful, but I will bring extra tea bags for myself that I'm not allergic to in the future. Everyone was helpful with me on a cane. Everything was wonderful until we were leaving. My boyfriend was the only male present, but he didn't mind. One of the hostesses turned to him and asked how did he enjoy a women's afternoon tea. That statement spoiled the wonderful day. Why did it matter to her since he paid for the 2 tickets? Why did she need to say anything at all? If it was a women's only afternoon tea, why didn't it say anything in the event description? This was a fundraiser. I don't know if we will go back.

Libraries
The Kingsport Public Library offers a wide range of activities and resources for all ages. From online reading programs for young students to a diverse collection of books for children, young adults, and adults, there's something for everyone. The library hosts family-friendly activities throughout the week, including movie screenings and board game nights. Additionally, it serves as an excellent source of historical information about the city of Kingsport.
We love Kingsport Library! They are in the midst of renovations. Let me request a few needs: 1. Phone charger stations in kids' areas. 2. More children/ family bathroom areas. Iykyk 3. Reading nooks. 4. Love the programming. (Thank you KPL for all you do.)
Ronda M — Google review
One of my favorite place’s to get away in Kingsport. The librarians are amazing and very knowledgeable, the Library is always very clean and well organized. Overall they have tons of selections to chose from for your curious mind, not to mention tons of space to sit and read/relax in silence. They also offer computers for free use on the 2nd floor during business hours which is a huge bonus!
Jarek A — Google review
Beautiful library but absolutely horrible experience because it is like homeless shelter. I doubt very much bathrooms, seats and headsets are sanitized every time homeless people using them and there are a lot of them, they are coming there like home and management is not doing anything about it. Is scary and feels unsafe to go there and take kids.
Oleg S — Google review
Lovely library. We love the kids area and the excellent, kind and caring librarians.
Eva K — Google review
Whose bright idea was it to move the public library into the mall?? Really weird…
Strawberry J — Google review
There is a lot of homeless people hanging out in here. Some have carts, big piles of stuff, and taking up a majority of the tables. I am a student coming to study and it is distracting. The facility is nice but this is not a shelter. I would encourage management to help out with this.
Ty D — Google review
An amazing place to spend an afternoon 💞 if you don't feel like spending a cozy afternoon browsing the charming decorations and displays, the staff is awesome to chat with!! That young Teen's librarian in particular is awesome, I lowkey feel like she's lived a thousand lives as witches and vampires and pumpkin queens- and she has great taste in books!
Margaret E — Google review
The children's area is great. Lots of fun things to interact with. The librarians in the children's area are also friendly. There is always an officer on standby, which does seem necessary considering the amount of people who just lurk about. I've put many books on hold from other libraries and have always gotten them in an efficient manner. I love being able to renew or request books online, as well as check out e-books. When I initially came to get a library card, the librarian was pretty unpleasant and condescending. That was an appalling first impression, but almost everything else has been positive. The ground floor copy machine is low-quality. Charging station upstairs is neat. Fountain outside is nice. Overall, I'm definitely a fan of this library.

Shopping mall
Shopping
Nestled on Fort Henry Drive, the vibrant Fort Henry Mall has been a shopping hub since 1976. This two-story mall offers an array of stores ranging from fashion and accessories to bath products and jewelry, covering nearly 53,000 square feet of retail space. Popular chains like American Eagle, rue21, The Children's Place, Bath & Body Works, Belk, and J.C. Penney are among its tenants.
Actually visited Rural King and loved it! Great prices. Lots to choose from. Clean place with friendly service.
Tawney V — Google review
Not what I was expecting. Mall is not giving what it's supposed to give 🤌🏾. It was like a boring museum with dreadful music/atmosphere. There is no food court. There's only 2 eating places throughout the entire mall (that were not in the same location). The movie theater needs a serious upgrade. It was very small with worn-out 💺.
Tería W — Google review
This mall is sad. On life support. Pretty sure the only thing keeping it alive is the movie theater. Only a couple places to eat: Charley’s Steakery and Italian Village. Italian Village is really good. We always get pizza there. There are more pictures on the walls than stores in the building. If you really want to shop in Kingsport, go to Kingsport Pavilion on East Stone Dr. several stores and places to eat.
Adrianna M — Google review
We miss the old mall. But those days are gone I suppose. Are really pleased that rural King has located there. Great store and great competition for other outdoor type retailers who need to lower prices. Highly recommend.
Phil W — Google review
This Mall is dead! Nothing hardly left in it! I went there to goto Spencers for a specific item I didn't want to order online. They had a variation of what I wanted. But not exactly. But buy one get one half off on what I went there for. There is still a Belk there and the newest addition is Rural King. U haven't been in there yet.
Deborah S — Google review
It was mostly a wasteful experience, the place is well dead. Doesn't really offer any shops worth visiting that you couldn't find at a strip mall. And even then, it's one or two shops. Doesn't offer but one food location, and the employees were too busy chatting with their buddies to realize I was standing looking at the menu for five solid minutes and was never approached to ask if I could be served. So I left. It's a nice environment, even if it is mostly abandoned, so if you're one of those mall walkers trying to get your steps in, it's recommended. Otherwise, this is a complete skip.
I I — Google review
No escalator equals a dead mall. This mall has such great potential that just seems squandered. The Italian Village should be an anchor restaurant that could easily be surrounded by and part of a food court. Add a Chik Fil-A and the traffic would be greatly increased. No idea why the Rural King declined to have store access from the mall but both businesses would benefit from the foot traffic if they opened that side up. The store fronts are almost all boarded up, although the wall art is more attractive than a bare wall, it just strikes me as a sad tribute to Kingsport's past instead of inspiring about the future. The rent must be incredibly high and discourages smaller shops from being there. The Cheese steak place doesn't have its own restroom and no one seems to be working the counter. The former Chinese restaurant space is a brash advertisement for how empty this sad relic has become.

Perfect place to visit if you love moonshine, bourbon, vodka. The two gentleman who were there, were very knowledgeable and friendly! They offer free tasting with valid I.D and have a lot of variety! My wife absolutely loves the theme and decor of the shop with very creative ideas to incorporate the fire department and what it's about! The wife also got some great Xmas gifts for her parents who are ex fire / EMS. Must visit!

I can't give five stars because it ain't moonshine if it's taxed but I will say their "moonshine" is good and I like the theme of this place. Decent prices too.

We don’t really like liquor (more into craft beer and wine) but wanted to stop in here anyway because of its uniqueness. Came to town to visit son's family for Christmas. Drove around looking Christmas lights walked around looking at the decorated trees from different local businesses. So pretty. Long Island Of The Holston is a fascinating historical site located along the Kingsport Greenbelt Trail. Accessible via a swinging bridge, the island features a striking monument dedicated to the local Cherokee Indian Tribes. Despite some neglect and instances of vandalism, the island exudes a positive vibe and offers a peaceful ambiance, making it an intriguing destination for tourists. While there are some maintenance issues such as overgrown grass and litter, the island's allure remains undeniable.
Approaching the bridge, there was a slight fear due to it swinging. It was very safe and kinda exciting! On the island side, there was a beautiful monument for the local Cherokee Indian Tribes. Sadly, someone has spray painted it :( There was a little bit of trash, as well. Contacted the city of Kingsport with no luck. My mother had never known this existed and was very interested to learn more. The grass could've been cut, but it was still a beautiful site! Check it out when you can!
Nate Z — Google review
Nothing there, really. No marker, a baseball field dominates the battleground. I guess to history it was just a skirmish between settlers and Cherokee, but to my ancestor, it was the largest battle in Tennessee in the Revolutionary War between militia an British baked forces. There were only 260 combatants and TN was not a state yet, but if you are going to recall the battle, there should be a marker
