The 50 best shopping and stores in Karlsruhe

Ettlinger Tor is one of Karlsruhe’s main malls, and honestly, it’s a solid spot to hang out. It’s got pretty much everything—big-name stores like Zara and H&M, a food court that’s more than just fast food, and even a Rewe if you need to grab groceries. If you’re into variety, it definitely delivers. That said, something happened today that threw me off. I saw a rat. Yeah, a whole rat just chilling like it owned the place. It definitely freaked me out, but more than that, it made me question the hygiene there. Not exactly what you want to see while shopping, you know? At least getting there is easy. There’s a subway station connected to the mall, and the Straßenbahn stops directly in front. Super convenient. Crowds can be hit or miss, though. If you time it right, you can have a pretty relaxed shopping trip. Otherwise, it’s packed, especially on weekends. But that does mean there’s usually something happening, like today, since it’s Valentine’s Day, they were giving out balloons. They also go all out with Christmas decorations, which adds a nice vibe to the place. Would I recommend it? Yeah, sure. But let’s be real, Karlsruhe doesn’t have that many malls, so it’s not like there’s much competition.

Been going here for years, good selection of shops and plenty of parking available. The only complaint I would have is that one has to pay to go to the WC. I mean you go to the shopping centre to spend money, so you could expect the facilities to be free. Other than that, great place : )

Very nice mall and it’s sitting in the city center so nice to use it as a parking space. Very close to the center places so we usually leave our car here and walk. Please mind that the place closes around 8 pm so if you want to get your car out , you should do it before. I am sure that they leave some doors open for garage but the one we looked was closed. Someone was coming from inside so that’s how we got in. Just for your information.

I visited in August, so the Christmas decorations (as depicted in the video) had been removed. This made me a little unnerved considering that I was hoping to sit on Santa's knee and tell him what I required him to manufacture for me this coming Yule. I have a great deal to do from now until December with contractual obligations concerning my levy on the interbank markets, so was hoping to get my order in early. I was duped.

An average-sized standard shopping centre. Interesting concave dome structure. The best thing about it is the fact that it is open late on thursday night (closed at 10 pm). There is thalia, zara, h&m, a food court, some German fashion outlets, a big electronic and drugstore (cant remember their names).

Great shopping mall. Good caffe at segafredo, run by Italians..!!. Many shops, excellent variety from fashion clothing, shoes to drugstore & mini supermarket. Good variety of restaurants on second floor.....

Amazing city views, especially at sunset! Choose between the Bergbahn or a hike, then unwind at the cafe on top. Perfect outing!

It’s very pretty up there, especially at night. There are also some built in benches which is nice but if it’s too crowded it can get very loud and you have to sit on the stone stairs.

Fantastic views from the summit where you can see vistas of Karlsruhe and the surrounding area. Turmberg is the most Northerly point of the Black Forest, and there are good walks into wooded areas from the main viewpoint. You can walk up to the viewpoint from Durlach below which is quite strenuous, or you can pay and get the funicular rail up, which is a fun journey with great views. No discount for seniors though! For refreshments there are restaurants a short walk into the woods from the viewpoint.

My friend and I celebrated our 50th birthday here - from planning to executing everything was amazing. Staff is incredibly friendly, caring and attentive, food is superior and the place effortlessly converts from a dinner place to a disco with a fantastic dance floor feeling. Wednesday After Work Party is one of the best events in the area.

The service is friendly, the location pretty cozy. The food is quite yummy, a bit on the posh side in terms of quantity, but delicious nevertheless.

Nice old building housing a small scale shopping areas and courier service if you need one. Always busy at its front area for cafe, pedestrians and people waiting and exchanging for the tram. Many shops and restaurants in the vicinity for convenience.

Most of the time is very overfilled but it’s still a nice place to go when you’re with friends. Especially the many different options of shops and restaurants make it easy to figure out what you want to do next.

This place offers almost everything you need right away—from restaurants and grocery stores to clothing shops like Primark, TK Maxx, and Peek & Cloppenburg. In winter, the displays feel like heaters, and in summer, the place works like an air conditioner, making it a perfect spot to sit, chill, and relax.

I like it. It's in the heart of Karlsruhe and the building looks amazing from out side . It's clean and bright especially the entrance! The food nothing espical about it. The toilets most of the time were clean. What is in my opinion so important is to put a machine that recharge the mobiles.

Nice view with inconvenient self service and mediocre food. You need to wait in a line to order and pay (EC only) and then to wait in a line to pick up drinks. Then you go to the food truck and get your beeper, when it beeps it’s another line to pick up food. Food is somehow really mediocre, small portions, high prices. If you have a chance for a good weather, than a cup of coffee or wine would be really enough to enjoy the view (if you find a place to sit). This bistro could be extremely crowded that makes the place very unattractive.

Drove here for drinks and food, only to find the food truck closed. Update after the business response: Restaurant is reservation only so not sure what they mean by you could have just come inside and eat inside. The weather was also nice when we visited (and the drink stand was open) so still not sure why the food truck was closed. Update to Nachtrag: We asked to be seated inside and were sent away. I understand that this business is allowed to close the food truck when it’s unprofitable. But I wasted 2 hours of my day, and am allowed to share my negative experience. Instead of justifying the bad experience, it may be a good idea to think about ways to improve your guests’ experience. Updating your social media when closed may be a great start. Hope management makes appropriate changes.

The young woman on the counter told us, we could take the food with us, so we eagerly ordered. But then, we didn't get our food as takeout,so we had to leave without food and our money wasn't payed back either. We didn't experience a so poorly organised place ever.

Food was superb and so was their outdoor seating. Just be patient when waiting for patrons to leave and be quick to grab a table/seats. I didn’t give full stars for service as it was self serve. You place an order at the counter and get your food when ready.

A nice restaurant by the Turmberg where you can grab a quick snack and drink with an incredible panoramic view of Durlach and Karlsruhe. Not too overpriced, with small portions but tasty flavors. The service is really fast, and efficient. Available mostly in German but one girl was able to help me with some English questions. The process is a bit different but it works. You sign in with your contact info via the Luca app or paper form for corona safety. You get a magnet and a menu. You pay at the entrance for your food, order food from the “food truck” and drinks from the bar. Very competitive seating lol. Everyone wants to be close to the edge, of course. They kind of have a bug problem, so beware of that if you’re allergic to bees or wasps, as they constantly linger around and even like to land on drinks and food. Can get stung if you don’t notice. Achtung! Payments accepted in cash or card. Easy to get to, but paid parking nearby. Also has electric connection for electric cars.

The restaurant has 2 sections, the bistro outside and a restaurant. We didn’t make the reservation, so we were not welcome there ^^ if anyone would like to eat here, you might have to reserve in advance. We ended up at the Bistro, which means self-service but the price was NOT a bistro price. The food portion is amazingly small. We ordered a mozzarella cheese salat and a waffle with ice and strawberry mamerlade. Well it is so so la. Of course it is not worth with that price. We have tried to order Flammkuchen without bacon. Unfortunately “impossible” is what we got. They seem inflexible to just not put bacon on it. The plus plus plus point here is only the view. It is incredibly nice. In case you come here for the eyes to look far and wide, bring along some beer with you. However, don’t expect a skyline view like Frankfurt although there are some high buildings.

This place has an awesome fit out which makes you feel like you are in a forest, food was good, service was a little slow but it was super busy. My son loved his Kindercocktail.

we had a super great lunch. the food was perfect, super tasty and a huge selection. sitting outside was also lovely. and a special thanks to the wonderful waitress, who was not only super accommodating, helpful and funny, but also spoke perfect english. i have rarely experienced such good service and that thanks to her. her name was Joanna, i hope you get her as a waitress next time you are there. everything was really perfect there! thank you very much!

Extremely long waiting. Not only for the food but even for the payment. The waitress had always an excuse, always anything else to do. Even though there was only a third of the tables occupied and there were three waiters. Come on! But it was a very beautiful bistro and the food was unique. You can add four dips limitlessly just by default if you want!

Very good environment... totally hygienic during corona times... the staff was very active and friendly... as usual Hans Im glück delivers good burgers quickly... This is by far my favorite fast food chain. Definitely try the wilder western burger, pair it with a small salad or perhaps French fries. I personally love the barbecue sauces, it definitely makes the entire experience better and honestly it tastes amazing with their sour dough bread and whatever choice of meat you please... I also ordered the classic burger, it has a very nice tangy sauce and it’s equally as good as the wilder western burger... Honestly in my opinion whenever you go here just order the wilder western burger it’s the best one out of their entire menu... and as always Stay hungry!

We came with family to try this place, but the service was disappointing. Most terrace tables were marked “reserved,” we waited long without attention, and the portions were surprisingly small. The staff seemed indifferent, with a rather fake smile. Unfortunately, not a place I would recommend, as I’ve had much better experiences nearby.

I would suggest this restaurant to anybody, the server was extremely accommodating and helpful (blond hair, nose piercing man). I really appreciate this assistance and kindness! Would only recommend further! P.S best burgers in Germany, personally.

Our dishes had authentic composition and flavor! Thoroughly enjoyed the nachos and also the chicken enchiladas. Really hospitable service and fantastic location in the city.

I personally really like the food. I tried Enchiladas vegetarian chirichuri Tacos. And now I am a fan of chirichuri Tacos after visiting Enchilada. You must try their Mexican Beer as well it is really good. They also have very good variety of cocktails and Drinks.

Came with a group for food & drinks for first time, on Sunday 27.07. at 20:50. We did not know the kitchen closes at 21:00, and were busy so unfortunately could not come earlier. So the situation was not ideal, but it happens, and asking us to order quickly is totally fine. What is not fine however, is for the waiter to make a passive agressive comment "The chef is really gonna like it that so many of you came to order so late." And then proceed to make 2 more comments like that in a snarky tone. You can be nice & professional and say "Hey, we are excited to have you here, but kitchen is almost closed, this & this dish is the easiest for the chef to make, which means you will also get it fast." We are more than happy to cooperate, we did not come to make you miserable. Or have a seperate "last seating to order food" and "kitchen closing" times. Working a Sunday evening shift is difficult, I get that, but just because the waiter is unhappy, there was no need to try to make us unhappy as well. But mission accomplished on his part, my experience of your concept was ruined. On the bright note, my bowl was tasty and the kiwi lemonade is super refreshing :)

Firstly, the ambience and the atmosphere is very lively. The restaurant is very big. The service was really great! For the drinks we had ordered Virgin Mango and passion fruit Margheritas which were very sweet. But, I Definitely suggest the drink Coconut kiss. It was very tasty with crispy fried coconut gratings (5 star for that). We had ordered mixed dip nachos. Coming to pros, chipotle sauce, guacamole were very tasty. Nachos was seasoned well but was not that crispy. Salsa could be better. Plant based chicken Fajitas with jackfruit was grilled well with a full side plate containing salad and guacamole. Burritos and enchiladas were not great but okay (could have been spicier or an option for spicy in the menu).

A bit pricy but worth it. Really good Greek food and super friendly service. Good outdoor seating allows you to enjoy your hot meal in the summer with overheard covering, although the inside of the restaurant is also very nice. Friendly service in English and German, the owner was quick to make recommendations based on preferences and previous taste of other dishes. Some parking available but really easy to get to via tram or bike.

The service is nice, but the dishes are a bit too expensive and they do not have higher quality than other Greek restaurants in the area. The bifteki is tasty and has the right balance between meat and feta. The deserts are worth a try, especially the chocolate soufflé.

I thought the traffic outside would bother me - but no, you don't hear Anything from outside (well isolated) The service There a a lot of restaurants with awesome service but here is on the next level. You can honestly notice that the staff at the restaurant like what they do - therefore they do it perfectly. From knife recommendation to food and drinks and all that done in a calm and friendly manner makes the service very special. Food Aaaah the steak. Freshly brought from USA. Nice bit,thick and juice. I recommend the medium rare -classic American. On a scale from 1 to 10 the steak was over the top! Every step of the way. I will be back there-soon, very soon. The gardens are beautiful. There are many „trails“ to walk and many places to sit down and relax with beautiful sights everywhere. It’s amazing to sit down and have a picnic especially when it’s warm but it’s also nice to walk a bit in the winter.

What an enormous park, and so beautiful. We could use a few more benches to sit on and relax a bit, especially when it's hot, as it was the case. But, appart from that, it's such a lovely park: you see green everywhere, people laying on the grass or by the lake enjoying the sun, and it's just by the city centre. It's like a haven of nature and calmness where you don't hear traffic sounds and you can relax and go for a nice walk 😍 The botanical gardens are also worth a visit, they are so pretty and the flowers are really well chosen and extremely beautiful!

Beautiful park! Worth visiting during the day and at night and during summer and winter. You can see the Schloss (palace) turned Museum in the background. During Xmas period (Dec - Jan), there is a Xmas market with an open ice skating ring set on one end of the park.

Nice cafe with breakfast options and pastries. Smiley stuff and very nice atmosphere. However French breakfast was way too small - just a croissant with butter and two types of jam. English breakfast was not that “English”, but fine. Big variety of cakes, ice cream.

Been there for breakfast. Over all it was really nice, the fresh orange juice was a decent size, the cream cheese breads were so pretty and delicious and the fruits with cereals were alright. I’m just substracting a star for the coffee. It’s sadly straight out of the machine and the milk foam is a bit sad. So don’t coke for the coffee but breakfast was great and healthy

Visited the caffe last weekend with the family, however the chocolate was mould and definitely not fresh as advertised. Please check the food before eating otherwise you will get food poisoning. No sorry for the Managment, we just got a new pice of chocolate

I was waiting quite excited to today, for the day on which the foodtruck would come to Durlach, and try this burger foodtruck I had just learned about. However it was not more than pure disappointment. I chose the R&R Burger which was advertised on the board. As for the flavors of the particular R&R Burger I cannot comment, as the only memory left has been overshadowed by the quality of the meat. This was the worst meat patty I have ever ate in my life. The meat was super dry and hard, just like my shoe sole. I cannot comprehend how burger meat could become in such a state, despite even being slightly pink in the middle. It felt I was given reheated leftovers from multiple weeks ago.

I have eaten hamburgers in many countries and I must say that this is one of the best I had. High quality meat, delicious bread and super tasty home made sauce.

Not much taste and water chrystals in the ice cream, there are way better options in the city. Unfortunately the good ones are already closed for the season end of October. I am happy to pay two euros for a scoop if the quality is good. Clearly not the case here.

Although the place is very crowded, especially when the weather is good, and you have to expect to wait a bit, the effort is really worth it! They have so many creative ice cream flavors of which some are vegan as well. My favorite ones are salty peanut and pistachio, but the milk rice is also super interesting! Also, the food when choosing to dine in is great. It’s very nice for a brunch or lunch. Their waffles are light and fluffy and their bowls are refreshing :)
