The Neoclassical Cathedral of Christ's Nativity was constructed during the 1830s, and boasts a lavish interior adorned with frescoes. It is one of the most significant landmarks in the town and is located at the heart of the city center. The cathedral is renowned for its size, making it an important architectural gem within the locality.
A terrific place to begin your walking tour of Chisinau. Along with this beautiful church is the park it sets in.

Beautiful place in Chisinau The Nativity of Christ Cathedral in Chișinău is a jewel of classicist architecture dating back to 1836, a spiritual symbol of the city, and the most important Orthodox church in Moldova. Its monumental structure and beautiful interior create an admirable atmosphere, Entrance is free

Very nice ortodox church in the center of Chisinau. No dislikes. Like everything.
Raimonds R — Google review
Built in 1836, it was the headquarters of the Moldovan Orthodox Church, but was bombed and badly damaged during the World War II. It was rebuilt in 1997 and restored in neo-classical style in Chisinau. The interior is decorated with beautiful frescoes.

Met two lovely Moldovans and we all went to church on Sunday was very special and met some lifetime friends. Go check the church out but be ready people are asking for money inside the church.

Beautiful Cathedral in the centre of Chisinau. Like most Cathedrals/Monasteries, it can be let down by tourists who gormlessly wander in, chattering, take a photo, then leave. It would be nice if there was a quiet area for visitors to pray/reflect in silence.

The Triumphal Arch, an iconic landmark in Chisinau, stands proudly at 13 meters tall and was constructed in 1840 to honor the Russian Empire's triumph over the Ottoman Empire during the Russo-Turkish War. This stunning white stone structure is not only a significant historical monument but also a popular photo spot for visitors exploring the city.
Great place to see. Built in 1840, this 13-meter white stone arch with a clock commemorates the Russo-Turkish War.
Monika K — Google review
Understated but classy arch with a nice clock near the Cathedral and a pretty park. Worth a visit but not a special trip to see it. Combine with the foreamentioned places and check out the railway carriages on the other side of the boulevard to learn about the departed peoples, a very sad story in itself.
Phil M — Google review
The Triumphal Arch in Chișinău is a cool landmark right in the city center. It’s got a classic look and stands out with its white stone and the clock on top. Nice spot to snap a few photos, and it’s close to other sights too. Worth a quick stop if you’re exploring the area.
Devrim B — Google review
It is the most visited place in the Chişinău, located in the center of the city. In every season you will see around different decorations related to holy and traditional holidays, markets, exhibitions and concerts sometimes. There is a pretty park around and many pigeons next to cathedral. The Arch is not as big as you expect to be like in the big cities, I consider very important to mention 😺
Natalia P — Google review
One of the most beautiful and valuable monuments in Chisinau. Best place to take photos and content!
Ivan M — Google review
A great monument and one you can easily get up close to and admire in all its detail. There isn’t any signage to explain the history, which is a shame, but there’s plenty of other sights nearby to make it worth wandering to. They attempt to light it nicely in the evenings but in an understated way which goes well with the rest of the city. It’s one of the key landmarks and a must see for anyone’s first visit to the city or wanting good photo opportunities.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Ciuflea Monastery, constructed in 1858, is a stunning structure with a blue exterior and gold domes. This church and monastery is located at the city center and offers free entrance to visitors. The building houses the tombs of its founding brothers, surrounded by well-maintained gardens and benches along its entrance lane. Visitors are required to adhere to a dress code that includes covering knees, arms, and head for women.
Mănăstirea Ciuflea is a Moldovan Orthodox monastery with a history that dates back to the 19th century, when it was built by two brothers. The brothers are buried at the entrance to the church on the right. The church's beautiful blue colour with the golden top makes it a striking feature in the city of Chisinau. But not only that, the earnest prayers inside were more heartfelt than I have felt in a long time.
T. G — Google review
A beautiful monastery with very unpleasant nuns. I wasn’t allowed to bring my wheelchair into the chapel because of the nuns, and had to crawl on my knees if I wanted to see the altar.

Beautiful monastery in the outskirts of Chișinău. When I entered , the liturgy was almost over . The monastery itself is big and old . This is a nun monastery. Many don't speak romanian. You can stay here over night but you have to talk to priest Nicolae about it . Overall nice

I have never seen a such amazing orthodox monastery, with its beautiful light blue colour and its golden domes. Inside you can feel a sense of peace.

Gino P — Google review
Ciuflea Monastery, situated close to the city center, is a historical gem. Despite its relatively grand size when viewed from the outside, the church itself is remarkably compact. The intricately adorned walls and ceilings, along with the impressive collection of furniture, sculptures, and paintings, are truly captivating, all meticulously preserved. Within the monastery, you'll discover a souvenir shop, offering an opportunity to select thoughtful gifts for your loved ones. The well-manicured garden adds to the charm, providing a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Cathedral of Divine Providence in Chisinau is a well-maintained Roman Catholic church that may be a bit tricky to locate, but the search is definitely worth it. The interior is bright and adorned with lovely paintings, making it a peaceful spot for visitors. It holds daily morning and evening masses, as well as multiple services on Sundays. Additionally, English mass takes place on Saturdays at 5pm.
This neoclassical church was built in 1836 by the architect Abram Melnikov with a grant from Nicholas I of Russia; with the establishment of the Soviet regime in 1944, all parish activities ceased and the church was closed in 1963, forcing the faithful to attend a small chapel in the cemetery. The building was returned to the diocese in 1989. The church has been the seat of the Apostolic See of Moldova since 1993 and of the newly established Bishopric of Chisinau since 2001. Restoration work began in the spring of 2002 and was completed in 2004.
T. G — Google review
I visited this church during a short stay in Chișinău and was warmly welcomed by the people there. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to attend a Mass, but the church itself is beautiful and offers a peaceful space for prayer and reflection.

The Roman-Catholic Cathedral in Chisinau is that kind of place that you must visit even you are not a Christian, or a beliver. :) In front of the church there is a statue of late Pope John Paul II sitting on a bench. The Holly Mother of God Armenian Apostolic Church has a rich history dating back to the 19th century when it became the center for Armenians in Bessarabia. The architectural ensemble is exceptionally beautiful and is protected by the state as a historic monument. Unlike Orthodox churches, this church lacks an iconostasis and has fewer icons, making its interior unique. It's not only a place of worship but also a historical site that attracts visitors from all backgrounds due to its cultural significance.
I visited during Easter. Is a Great community.

The priest was very nice to let us in. But this church did not look at all like churches in Armenia. None of the interesting stone work. Yet the inside was just as boring as every Armenian church. This should not be on the list of tourist attractions in the city. It's a place where people pray, with nothing a tourist would like to see. And it's not near other tourist attractions

(Translated by Google) One of the oldest churches in Chisinau, built in 1804. Over its two-century history, its aspect has undergone some changes - for example, in 1872, the well-known architect Alexander Bernardazzi added an elegant portico. A little later, another floor is added to the main tower - it is its architecture, with notes of the Gothic style, that is visible from behind the nearby houses. However, some experts argue that the church has more ancient roots, and archaeological excavations carried out nearby have found various artifacts of past centuries - maybe in the future we will find new data on the relative history of this temple. In any case, today the Armenian Church is an important attraction, not least due to its beautiful architecture - it is probably one of the most 'monumental' buildings in the city. However, it is not so easy to find a church among the high-rise buildings of a modern city - you cannot do without maps. Among the surrounding high-rise buildings, the church, with its landscaped and landscaped courtyard, is something of an oasis. From a distance it seems small, but inside this sensation disappears - its size is impressive. In the courtyard there are old gravestones and memorial monuments of two tragedies of the Armenian people - 1915 and 1988. It feels like both the church and the area around it are being watched and looked after. Inside the temple, everything is modest, but beautiful, without signs of unnecessary luxury. It's worth noting that I was lucky enough to meet a polite church custodian who gave me a short tour. In general, if you are interested in Kmshinov’s antiquity, I advise you to visit the Armenian Church.

The Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, located near the main square and Parliament Building, is a stunning architectural gem from the late 19th century. Originally part of a boys gymnasium, it was repurposed as a planetarium during the Soviet era due to its unique round shape. Since 1992, it has been restored to its original function as a church and is open to the public.
The golden top and roof are seemingly loud, which is supposed to represent one of the faith and conscience in Chisinau. It was built between 1898 and 1902, and the dome was once used as a planetarium during the Cold War when Gagarin successfully went into space. After several renovations, it is in its current form.

The full name of this cathedral is quite a mouthful, however, it seems apt having had the pleasure of visiting it. On a stunning day without a cloud in the sky the cathedral roof glinted spectacularly on our approach - it was a real eye-catcher but this was only the warm-up. Inside the Fresco's are absolutely stunning. The depictions are graphic, memorable and remarkable and worthy of praise. I have been to many places of worship around the world but none quite like this.

One of the notable Orthodox churches in Chișinău is Saint Theodora of Sihla's Church. This church, along with other religious sites like Ciuflea Monastery, Saint Panteleimon Church, and St. Mary's Armenian Apostolic Church, is worth a visit.
This is a relatively small Orthodox church, but I happened to go there at a time when no one else was visiting. If the original prayer of faith is something to be done in private, it was better that way. Perhaps that is why my own prayers were suddenly filled with sadness in my deepest spirit. It is said to belong to the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Bessarabia. Built in 1895, originally as a chapel for a girls' school, it is a neoclassical building with Byzantine elements; it was consecrated in 1922 and services are held in both old and new styles. # Chisinau # Chișinău # Moldova

The former Republican Museum of Scientific Atheism was located in the building of former Girls Gymnasium Chapel, designed by Alexandru Bernardazzi and built in 1895. The Museum opened to the public in 1985 and exhibited documents, books, photographs, objects of religious cult, archaeological and ethnographic items, graphic and folk art pieces. The aim of the exhibitions was to combat religion by the means of so called "scientific atheism", a concept that appeared for the first time in the writings of K. Marx and F. Engels. As a part of the anti-religious propaganda campaign, texts by Cantemir and Eminescu were included.

The Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Pantaleon, constructed in 1891 by architect A. Bernardazzi, is considered one of the most exquisite structures in Chisinau. It remains an active place of worship, housing the revered Throne of Panteleimon the healer, believed to possess miraculous healing abilities. The church showcases stunning murals on its interior walls; however, it currently requires restoration work.

Ethnographic museum
Village Museum is an open-air museum located in Chisinau, offering a tranquil green setting with traditional architecture. The highlight of the museum is the wooden church of the Dormition of Mary of Hiriseni, dating back to 1642 and being the oldest of its kind in Moldova. This church has been carefully restored and serves as an ethnographic museum, preserving medieval Moldovan architecture. Visitors can witness baptisms and weddings taking place here.
Wonderful and important cultural museum very near Chisnau airport. Easy to get to onbthe bus (if only they had luggage storage). I just brought my bags along. Or get a taxi. Peaceful encapsulation of what life was like before the Soviets came. Well preserved wooden medeival tower church, meticulously maintained gardens.
Jon G — Google review
Very nice historical place....But it's NOT a MUSEUM. They baptise kids there and also do weddings that's why you can't go inside and have a look. People don't understand that it's a historical place. Not just a church. It's better to put the fee at the entrance and stop doing other business to keep the historical value.
Oxie G — Google review
Beautiful, but not a museum, not many houses. The church is actively used.
Stefan C — Google review
This wooden church, dating back to 1642, is a real gem, being the oldest of its kind in the country and the sole preserver of medieval Moldovan architecture. After nearly a century of neglect, the church was carefully taken apart, restored, and transported beam by beam to Chisinau. Interestingly, 85% of the beams and 70% of the iconostasis are original. Nowadays, the church is bustling with activity, hosting baptisms and weddings. If you're lucky, you might witness one! There's also a small gift shop tucked away underneath. Just keep in mind, while it's a stunning church, it's not a museum or a village. You'll find a smaller church and a few other structures nearby, but unfortunately you won't be able to explore inside.
Elena E — Google review
Authentic historical open air museum, reminds me of Pyrohove near Kyiv or Bunratti in Co. Limerick, Ireland. Yet, way smaller. One main church, plus a few more wooden buildings, also with some religious sense. I've spent quite nice time overall, mostly sitting on a swing bench and enjoying the last warm hours of the 2023 Fall.
Yuri D — Google review
While this is a beautiful church- it is NOT a museum! And it is NOT a village. The only place you can enter into is under the church where they have a gift shop and some orthodox icons and such. The church is run as business with back to back baptisms and weddings. There was no historical information or even a chance to see the inside of any of the buildings. There was another chapel behind the main one and a few other structures- but you could not go into any. Of course there is no entrance fee- because it is NOT A MUSEUM.
Richard K — Google review
This place is a hidden gem from Chisinau. Better to visit when it’s a good weather. The near park is good for sunset shots and moon rise. This place have different name, some people call this place “Vosmiorka”. Near the lake there is church made from wood, one of the oldest in the town. This is also a good place for fishing

The main attraction of the Village Museum is the 17th century wooden church that was moved here from village Hârjauca. On weekends the church has a tight schedule of weddings. Moldovans love to show off during weddings and at this time I saw a few ceremonies with pigeons and lengthy photo sessions. In the end one photographer had to cut the shooting session because the batteries of his cameras were exhausted.

While wandering through Chisinau, I stumbled upon a gem known as Artcor. This modern co-working space is not just about work; it’s an experience! Nestled in the city center, Artcor boasts stunning industrial design and fully furnished workspaces that cater to both short-term visitors and long-term startups. The atmosphere is vibrant, with meeting rooms and outdoor areas that inspire creativity. Artcor also stands out as a refreshing addition to the local art scene.
Couldn’t quite figure out if there are any exhibition spaces here (social media is all in romanian), from what I can tell it’s all offices and institutions that do creative education. but the architecture of the place is just beautiful & worth a trip There’s a sweet little bistro, they have cats there!

OK, so this is art space. I went there during weekday and very bad weather, the place was limited only to artists and staff. I wanted to see the exhibition, if they have one. So the only thing I enjoyed was staring at some 10 postcards available outside the building. I believe this place is popular among fashionista’s, artists, and trendy youth. There is a nice little café next to the exhibition.

Wow, wow, wow!!! What the beauty of a place I found in Chisinau for co-working. exquisite industrial design and a completely brand new building in the city center with completely furnished workspaces, meeting rooms, outside area and everything you need to work either a day or during your entire start-up lifetime strongly recommended Even the price might be higher compared to other locations, but it’s definitely worth it if you income and industry allows it. value added guaranteed. Still not convinced? Shall I mention in the height adjustable desktop with electric power train? ;)

(Translated by Google) An old church, built in 1819. It has a modest appearance, but still represents the architectural dominant of the surrounding neighborhood. It seems somewhat remarkable to me that a building - such as this church - stands almost untouched for 200 years in such a changing city as Chisinau. I can add that next to the church there is a curious building from the 1950s with three floors and a small turret, a remnant of the Soviet period.

(Translated by Google) The appearance of St. George's Church combines elements of classical style and Moldavian medieval architecture. The slender silhouette of the building is crowned by a bell tower and an octagonal light drum with a dome-helmet, and the clean surface of the high walls is decorated only with protrusions-pilasters. The temple was built in the oldest part of Chisinau in 1818 at the expense of the Bulgarians who migrated from Turkey. To collect donations, priest George and his assistant went to the Turkish Bulgarians, who returned from the trip with money, but alone. Father George died in Turkey “at the hands of a Muslim.” Construction took 4 years according to the design of Archimandrite Ioannikiy (in the world Ivan Shchapov). This merchant’s son, a self-taught artist and seminary teacher of arithmetic and drawing “was used in the field of architecture” in the construction of many church buildings. In 1829, a strong earthquake damaged the temple. Its restoration was carried out by the architect Ivan Speth, who personally supervised the repairs, since “the local craftsmen do not understand the drawings and are not able to carry out the work with complete accuracy.” Ivan Ivanovich Speth (Speeth Johann-Peter) (1772–1831) was born in the German city of Mannheim in the family of a musician, studied in Frankfurt am Main, where he built a large building on one of the central streets. In 1826 he came to Russia and was soon invited to the post of Bessarabian regional architect. Speth began to create a new, special style in the architecture of Bessarabia, but died suddenly without completing his planned projects. In 1916, Alexander Tarnorutsky (1888-1916) was buried in the church - the only priest in the history of the Bessarabian Church who was awarded many orders and a golden cross for military services. At the beginning of the First World War, the young Bessarabian priest Tarnorutsky was appointed priest of the Chernoyarsk regiment. The regimental priests did not take up arms, but inspired by personal example, helped doctors, and carried the dead and wounded from the battlefield. In October 1916, Tarnorutsky led soldiers into an attack and was mortally wounded by an explosive bullet that hit him in the chest. The body of the heroically deceased 28-year-old priest was transported by fellow soldiers to his homeland in Chisinau and buried with honors in St. George's Church.

A most wonderful small synagogue, and not to be missed if you are Jewish and nearby. I just happened to be in the neighborhood on a Friday and saw some activity inside this small synagogue. After a few words with the Rabbi, who convinced me to return for a Shabbat dinner, I went home, changed and returned. It was probably the most unexpected highlight of a trip to Moldova. The congregation was from all over the world, very welcoming and there was a dinner shortly thereafter. To this day, I maintain contact with several of the people whom I had met there.

The Church of Saints Emperors Constantine and Elena has a rich history, originally serving as the church of the cemetery in Visterniceni village before becoming part of Riscani district. Built in 1777 on a hill by the Byk River, it was initially known as the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord. However, in 1834, at the request of Iorgu Rascanu, it was renamed to honor his father Constantine.
(Translated by Google) The Church of Saints Constantine and Helena was built on a hill on the banks of the Byk River in 1777. The patron was the spatarian Constantin Riscani. The church was located in the village of Ryshkanovka and was originally the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord. But in 1834, at the request of Yegor Riscani, the church changed its name in honor of his father, Constantine, and began to bear the name we know - Saints Constantine and Helena. Next to the church there was a large cemetery, of which almost nothing remains to this day. Some tombstones of famous people who were once buried in the cemetery were moved to the church building. During Soviet times, the church was closed. In the early 1970s, there was a fire in the building, all the wooden structures and the iconostasis burned down. After this, the church was restored. As a result of subsequent restoration work carried out in the 1990s, the church lost its usual appearance of domes and roof.

So in the end we went to another church where the priest supported our grievances, and by the way he didn't ask for so much money and gifts!

All Saints Resurrection Church is a historic place of worship that has been standing for over 100 years. Located at the entrance to the Central Cemetery, it is a popular destination for parishioners and visitors alike. The church's current appearance is that of a small chapel, situated on the former Heroes' Cemetery border. Despite its complex history, the church gives off an impression of being relatively new.
(Translated by Google) It was my first time at a service and I accidentally found a small church. This is exactly the case when I found “my temple” Thank you to Father Ioan for your kindness and attention to the parishioners! Nestled in the heart of Chisinau, the Church of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary stands as a stunning testament to Russian Orthodox architecture and heritage. Dating back to 1755, this historic church exudes an air of antiquity despite its well-maintained exterior. Surrounded by modern buildings, it can be a bit tricky to access, but with some local guidance, you’ll find your way.
Beautiful icons and good spirits. How come so much hatred and violence is carried out in the name of Christ?
Giel V — Google review
This church is very far from the center and it's really not a tourist destination, despite appearing on the Google "things to do in Chisinau" list. I walked all the way there only to be chased out by Russian women for not having long pants (no other church cared, and it was July)

(Translated by Google) The oldest building in Chisinau, built in 1755. Mazarakievskaya Church is clearly visible from the street. Albisoara (where it is a kind of architectural dominant), however, getting to it from the Lower Center is quite difficult, because it is surrounded by multi-storey buildings, courtyards and parking lots. But luckily the locals showed me the way. The area inside is well-groomed and clean, including old tombstones. The church is in good condition. From a distance the building seems small, but up close this feeling disappears - on the contrary, it seemed to me that it seemed to tower over me. I couldn't get inside - I probably came too late. The church has belonged to the Old Believers since about the sixties, after their original temple was demolished. In the end, it is worth noting that the Mazaraki Church creates an interesting contrast with the surrounding Soviet-era concrete buildings - high-rise apartment buildings and the Moldovagaz building. I advise everyone who is interested in the history of the city to visit it - however, probably everyone could see it while driving through Albisoara.

St Valeriu's Church is an impressive and spacious church with no visitor parking. The architecture is striking, and the interior is beautifully painted, exuding a pleasant energy. The choir's resounding performances add to the spiritual ambiance. However, the surrounding area lacks proper maintenance by local authorities, with broken roads and sidewalks making transportation inconvenient. Nonetheless, the church attracts amazing people seeking solace and spiritual connection.

(Translated by Google) I think that everyone who attended services with Fr. Maxima Melinti and Fr. Vasily Manike has only impressions - grace-filled, spiritual, rich, full of divine services, where everything is in its place, in the sense of the order of worship, complete according to the charter and understandable even to those who are at least a little familiar with the order and came to the temple for the first time. Where priests invest themselves completely and even more... You can write a lot, you need to see for yourself....
