The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral, also known as the Transfiguration Cathedral, is a monumental Russian Orthodox cathedral with a rich history dating back to 1808. Despite being destroyed by Stalin, it has been restored and stands as a towering symbol of resilience. Affiliated with the Ukrainian Orthodox church, it holds historical significance as the first church in Odessa and serves as the burial place for bishops and the prince.
wow! if you don't believe in God, you must go there ! i feel his presence everytime i go there. i feel such positive energy and compassion each time i walk into the cathedral. i live only a half block from the place. the 30days i must spend away every 90 days makes me miss the wonderful feeling i receive from being there.

We have no idea how beautiful it was until we went inside. Magnificent architecture and marvelous paintings. Worth a visit.
Venkata R — Google review
My favorite church in the city. Gorgeous interior, with gold and white being the predominant colours.
Eva J — Google review
This is worth a visit, despite being less decorated than many Orthodox churches and cathedrals. I have been many times and it's always interesting to see new decorations and improvements. This is not completed and probably several more years of work needed to complete all murals and so on.
Andris S — Google review
Lovely place. Better look inside.

It's just Magnificent! The architecture and the design inside the church is surely to witness. Shining gold in peaceful white background colour just keeps you gazing at the structure. Truly a peaceful and holy place.

Beautiful and empty. Very few tourists. Only maybe 5 locals in the building.

“Transfiguration Cathedral” in English, the seat of the Kryvyi Rih diocese is a nine-domed church that was only started in 1989 and completed in 2003. Permission was granted to build this new cathedral on a on a small rise to accommodate the city’s Orthodox congregation that outgrew the Saviour-Ascension Church. Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is a revival of the Ukrainian Baroque style from the 18th century and has nine domes and a bell tower 50 metres in height. This contains 22 bells cast in Novovolynsk, the heaviest weighing 1,200 kg. If you can get in, there are icons of St George and Matrona Nikonova and four altars to admire.

St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church stands as a remarkable testament to the enduring spirit of faith in Odessa. This historic church, which has remained open even through the tumultuous times of the Soviet era, offers visitors a unique glimpse into religious history and architecture. As one of the few active places of worship for Catholics in the city, it attracts those interested in exploring its rich heritage and monumental significance.
Spiritually place, where you can pray at any day of the week, and even if you aren’t catholic,u’ll take pleasure from mess despite where confession you’re . By the way, mass is going on 4 languages:English,Ukrainian,Polish and Russian: depends on hours.

As a guide, I think atleast if you are around this area, you should visit this place for sure. A church built on the belief that it will serve it's purpose to all those who come here. The location of this church is quite great as you can easily go to City Garden or you can go visit the Port side. This church has it's own history of struggle and from there to what we see today. The name given to this church is, one of the Apostle of Jesus, who later on became The First Pope of Roman Catholic's. The church has a relic from the tomb of St. Peter.

St. Nicholas' Church in Odessa is a small religious monument located in the northern part of the city, near Khersonskiy Square. The church was originally constructed in 1896 and is dedicated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors. It holds historical significance as it was first built near Potemkin Stairs in 1862 but was later demolished and reconstructed at its current location.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, a stunning architectural gem completed in 1900, has a rich history that reflects the resilience of its community. Originally built for the Reformed congregation in 1896, it served various purposes during Soviet times, including as a puppet theater. After years of transformation, it was returned to the church on November 26, 1998. Today, visitors can admire its beautiful exterior and enjoy services featuring both classical and modern music styles.
You can attend some worship, just come in and ask someone to tell you details. Personally, I visit Free Spanish classes with Colombian Missioner every Saturday at 15:00

During Soviet times, the temple was naturally closed, and the building, built according to the project of the architect A. Minkusa, was rebuilt into a puppet theater. And only on November 26, 1998, the building was again transferred to the ownership of the Evangelical Reformed Presbyterian Church. Poseidónas G — Google review
At the foot of the Potemkin Stairs you can allow a few minutes to poke around the passenger jetty and watch the Black Sea. The city owes its 19th-century success to the fact that it’s warm-water port, so doesn’t freeze in winter, a vital characteristic in that period. Over the last 200 years the seafront has seen some dramatic moments in the Crimean War and the mass departure of Jews during a succession of pogroms at the end of the 19th century. On the jetty behind the terminal building there’s a statue depicting a fisherman’s wife holding a child and looking out to sea, along with a small maritime museum and a couple of seafood restaurants.

When visiting Odessa, make sure to include the Holy Trinity Cathedral in your itinerary. This place of worship is a must-see, but remember to dress and behave respectfully as it's an active religious site. The cathedral is adorned with intricate green weavings and carvings, creating a peaceful atmosphere filled with old icons and harmonious surroundings. It's a beautiful and special place that shouldn't be missed during your trip to Ukraine.
Really impressive. Be aware that this is a place of worship, and you should adapt your dresscode and attitude accordingly. They tolerate visitors but there is a lot of people actively praying inside. So don't plan to take photographs or have a talk inside about how beautiful all the paintings are. With all that being said, it's a must see.

Orthodox synagogue
The Brodska Synagogue, located on Jukovskovo Street, is a significant historical site that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Jewish community in Odessa. While its exterior boasts an impressive architectural design, the interior tells a different story. Currently housing the State Archive of the Odessa Region, it faces challenges with structural integrity; large cracks mar its walls and indicate a pressing need for restoration. Despite these issues, this synagogue remains an intriguing destination for visitors interested in history and architecture.
Nice place to visit

Sad- elegant old synagogue with a glorious liturgical past converted to a government records archive. Our group could only stand in the courtyard and gazed up at it thinking of times past. Nothing left that would make an uninformed person think that this was an active synagogue.

(Translated by Google) to the ancient synagogue in Odessa. I arrived through the suggestions for interesting places on Google Maps. And out of the desire to get to know the place because of my origin and the place I came from. After a short wander with the help of Google Maps. I arrived after crossing Pushkin Street. To my right stood an impressive gray building. It seems that he knew Better days. The building is surrounded by a fence and locked with a large gate. I didn't notice any signs indicating that it was a synagogue. And that was actually the end of my visit to the place. (Translated by Google) The Brod Choral Synagogue in Odessa is a very interesting sight. It was built in 1863-70 according to the project of the architect Yosyp Kolovich. The initiator of the construction was Rebbe Nissan Blumenthal, who came from the city of Brody. This is a large, two-story building, made in the neo-gothic style (the direction of eclecticism). Corner corners are emphasized by four light towers. It is richly decorated, has large pointed windows. This is one of the best synagogue buildings that I had the chance to see... In 1925, the synagogue was closed and converted into a state regional archive, which is still active today. It was not returned to the religious community. In 1985, the monument received a protected status. While Fridays see an influx of worshippers, the mosque accommodates everyone with designated areas for women and various engaging activities.
This is a very peaceful place, very calm, neat and clean, for people who would like to offer prayer peacefully, on Fridays it gets crowded though and that's very normal, there is a section for women as well, and there are few activities which you can get yourself engaged in. this is a very good Islamic center

The temple is new - consecrated in 2012, the head of the parish said that they built the temple for more than 10 years. Located on Academician Korolev Street, next to the Yuzhny market. The temple is beautiful and majestic. Nearby there is a small chapel in which church services were held during construction. You will not hear such beautiful and melodious ringing of bells in any other temple (and not only in Odessa).

I want to draw your attention to the fact that if you want to baptize a baby here, there will not even be an attempt to establish contact with him, the child will be scared, he will be hysterical, and the Father will stupidly read the prayer and allow himself to comment on you.

(Translated by Google) The temple is beautiful. I would like to clarify for those who complain about the high cost of necessities - if suddenly you are a poor person or a victim (from a fire, a refugee, etc.) or simply find yourself in a difficult life situation - and you need, for example, to baptize a child or perform a funeral service for the deceased - in any canonical Orthodox church they will do this for you for free. The prices in the temple for candles, icons, etc. are voluntary alms from parishioners for the maintenance of the temple, employees and their families, as well as for charity, which every (!) Orthodox church does in one way or another. And since not each of you can personally and regularly visit nursing homes, children's cancer clinics, prisons, lonely pensioners, orphanages, etc. - when you come to church, you donate, if possible, to good deeds that should be done on this earth (since we are touching on spiritual issues). Therefore, if you can and want to give alms, thank you, the good will return to you a hundredfold. If it is expensive for you to buy a candle, do not buy it, just pray in the temple in your own words, and God will definitely hear you, regardless of the number of candles placed.

Virmensʹka Apostolʹsʹka Tserkva is a remarkable site that exudes an incredible atmosphere, making it a true place of power. Visitors are often captivated by its simple yet stunning beauty and the enchanting acoustics that fill the space. The church remains open to all, encouraging donations rather than selling candles or charging for prayers, allowing guests to contribute as they see fit.

There are brochures near the benches for those who don’t know how to apply. And most importantly, the church is always open, they don’t even sell candles in the church, they don’t value names for peace or health. If you wish, you can make a donation as much as you think is necessary, although you still need to look for where to place the bill. The temple is located right on the seashore, very beautiful! (Translated by Google) The temple, wonderfully beautiful, became one of the most beautiful in Odessa. The exterior decoration of the temple is elegant and majestic. Instead of marble, there is a beautiful mosaic floor. The simple-looking interior of the church is decorated with a “turquoise-colored wooden iconostasis.” History of the Church of St. Dmitry Rostovsky is also interesting because it is the only Odessa Orthodox church that was never closed, even in Soviet times, thanks to the petition of Academician V.P. Filatov, who was a parishioner and headman of this temple, and is buried next to the church.
