food was authentic and tasted very good, we took the bamboo soup and a set sharing menu for two of us, was all delicious. nice ambiance, and excellent service. We liked a lot the bamboo chips and the laolao rice whisky, we tried three flavors! The chilly one is great! Haha we like spicy. We preferred the table inside because there was not much to see and enjoy along the street. I definitely recommend this place. And we would come back to try also other dishes too.

We went for lunch, wanted to try a little bit of everything so went with a tasting menu - some of it really good, some not for my taste. Service was excellent and the tamarind drink was definitely interesting. We liked the mango sticky rice with black rice the best

We had a fantastic evening at Tamarind Restaurant, where we chose to try the vegan tasting menu. It was an excellent decision. The dishes were all incredibly fresh and vibrant, and it was clear that each one had been prepared with great care and attention to detail. The generous use of fresh, local herbs made every bite a delight. The entire experience was enhanced by the wonderful service. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain each dish and its traditional Laotian context. I like this restaurant and I came here 3 times during visiting Luang Prabang. The restaurant serve the traditional Laotian foods and very unique. Full of favourites and very tasty. We ordered Bamboo soup and Som moo sour pork and it was fantastic 😋 highly recommend. The only dish that I would avoided is Stir fried Basil leaf with Frog 🐸 if you don't eat a whole Frog. It was not just a Frog's legs but the whole body of Frog's with skin. The staff was so friendly and he said Laos people eat the whole Frog. We came again to try another dishes and the staff gave us a house dessert.

The best restaurant we visited in Luang Prabang! All the food and drink we tried (we ordered the vegan set) was absolutely delicious, an explosion of different flavours and really big portions. The service was super attentive, explained all the dishes and how to eat them. We got the impression that they really cared about bringing Laotian food culture to tourists. We also booked a cooking class with them which was a fantastic experience as well! Can only recommend❤️

Good choice of restaurants for sampling Lao dishes or some western comfort food. Nice modern decor and the staff were more attentive and helpful than most of those nearby. Would happily have come back and sampled more dishes. Found the river weed a bit over busy with the nuts, dips and sausages were great. One of the better sausages I've had in Laos. Quiet for lunch but very busy at night.

It was our second day in Luang Prabang. We asked Copilot 2 times, and it recommended this restaurant. Food is perfect, good service, good price. Good location also. If you plan to visit Phousi Mountain. It is just a few metres from the exit.

One of the absolute best restaurants I’ve ever been to! Every dish was outstanding — bursting with incredible flavours. The highlight for us was the Nem Khao with vegetables, a dish we tried for the first time. Its crispy yet juicy texture and out-of-this-world flavours truly impressed us! The red curry with tofu and the veggie burger were also excellent. The service was exceptional. When we informed the staff about our allergies, they went above and beyond — even replacing the burger patty after it had already been served, despite us notifying them quite late. Located in the heart of the historic district, the restaurant overlooks the main street, making it the perfect spot for an evening out. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

The food I ordered was a bit salty and not really good at that time. The hamburger was light and not really interesting as expected. I came here thanks to recommendation from my sister. However, the restaurant is decorated quite nicely even though the space is not spacious enough.

I went here as it was recommended by so many people but I guess the taste was not what I was looking for. My burger was bland in taste. In contrast Khao Soy was too salty for my preference. The french fries were good. It doesn't guarantee a re-visit for me.

The market is nice and clean. Nobody was forcing me to buy stuff from them. So even if i am just looking they are ok with that. Which is the best thing trust me. Plenty of food options and lots of cute stalls to explore. Some items in the crafts market may feel a bit overpriced, but considering the craftsmanship and effort from local artisans, it feels fair and well worth supporting.

I liked the night market visually, nicely lit and quite long. I would have appreciated the food the most, because the products did not impress me much. T-shirts with elephant outfits and small wallets for documents. But overall a nice atmosphere. Anyone who visits this city should take a walk here

Bamboo Garden in Luang Prabang is a must-visit! This charming spot exceeded expectations with its huge portions and incredibly delicious food. Visited here a few times as they were able to prepare my food gluten free as I am celiac. The food each time was very good, and good portion sizes too! The owner of the restaurant spoke very good English and understood celiac, as did his wife who was the chef. Not many gluten free finds in luang Prebang so definitely recommend!

Incredible dishes. We got the stir fried chicken with basil and the vegetable curry and added chicken. Both were fresh and delicious. Very Thai inspired. We also got the sausage as an appetizer and it came out after our main dishes. It was very mid. Don’t recommend. Their main dishes though are insane!

What a cool little place! Warm, inviting and inspiring. The drinks I had were very good... Sure, they may be a little pricier than alternatives, but I was quickly inspired to have more drinks so I could soak up that atmosphere a bit longer. I thought it was a kitschy dive bar when I saw it from the street...It is anything but. Worth a visit and a re-visit.

Google Maps says "Open" but a sign on the Bar door says "open in June". Today is 7:00pm, the 3rd of June 2025 and it's still not open. Back in April 2017 the bar was also closed cause Elizabeth, the owner/manager/bartender, didn't like getting wet during the Songkran water festival. Well that"s what she told me in December 2017 when I finally met her. Maybe this "she'll be right" Lao attitude has got to her. Yes Patience is a virtue unless you have spent $$$ getting to this bar in Lao and have less than 1 week in Luang Prabang!

This is a pretty chill bar in Luang Prabang. The decorations are nicely done and give the place a cozy, laid-back vibe. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Prices are affordable, and the location is perfect—right on the same street as the night market, so it’s easy to find and convenient to stop by after exploring.

We are visiting Luang Prabang from Mexico, and I must say that the Ceviche is exactly what the other reviews describe: amazing, great, delicious, etc etc. Totally recommended. The rest of food in the menu is also delicious, prices very reasonable and the restaurant and location in one of the areas main streets. Last but not least, staff and owners provided a great service.

Perfect for people watching from the terrace. Full bar, friendly servers, and everything our group tried on the menu was enjoyed. The house specialty of ceviche was my favorite. Also the fish in the parchment paper. Very tasty.

I suffered from mild food poisoning here after eating a raw burger that I ordered to be cooked medium. This probably would have been fine if they used good quality beef but given my vomiting the morning after they used cheap beef mince for their burgers and also don’t cook it for long enough.

We stopped for a snack and had the red lentil dip which is actually a hummus and it was amazing. We also had the fried chicken appetizer that was so awesome. I figured it would just be regular batter fried chicken and it was except the flavor and texture of the batter was different than anything I’ve had. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the main dishes.

This is a chill place to hang out and watch people go about their business on the main drag. We came here often during our visit to Luang Prabang when we wanted a coke and / or a cool beer. The staff are nice, the decor has a nice vibe, the prices are very reasonable and importantly (as a tourist) we were able to pay with relatively large notes!

The pasta was absolutely delicious, especially the basil and bacon penne — a definite highlight! The pizza was also flavorful and enjoyable. While the food was great, the service staff could have been more skilled, which would have elevated the experience. That said, it was still a satisfying and yummy meal overall. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, which is convenient. We opted to sit inside as the garden area was a bit chilly. Its location near the main street makes it easily accessible. A great spot for a hearty meal!

Visited this Italian restaurant twice within one year. The first visit was perfect while the second time seems to be a different one. I don’t know what happened as the pizza I ordered tasted like from two worlds. As for the space, it is cozy and can accept group tourists. They provide wine with reasonable price, although of the limited choices.

Very nice. I had the vegan pasta. It was spaghetti in a tomato vegetable sauce. The vegetables included broccoli, onion, olive, cherry tomato, cauliflower and garlic. It was a nice big portion. Even though it was 'vegan pasta', it came with dairy cheese in a small dish on the side (I gave it to my sister to put on her chips). My sister and dad shared a meat lovers pizza and chips. His girlfriend customised a margherita with olives and chicken. The pizza was large, cooked really nicely and they said it was delicious. My dad also really like the Beerlao which was a light cloudy beer. Very attentive and accommodating staff. Lovely large air conditioned middle part of the restaurant (the rear was a covered outside area and there is seating out the front, too). They also have nice single stall toilets.

We had such a lovely meal here! We were craving some western food and this place pulled through. We were sat out the back under a tree filled with gorgeous string lights. There was music playing, it was a great atmosphere. I got the spicy pasta and tiramisu which were both amazing!! Pasta is my favourite food and this one was top notch, I was savouring each bite. I am vegetarian and my sister is vegan and we had multiple dishes to choose from. The staff were so lovely and kind. Would defo recommend!!

This place is okay, we just wanted a couple of smoothie bowls and had been recommended to come here. The service wasn’t great for us, felt like we’d been forgotten about - the owner apologised as he thought we’d already ordered. Then I had to ask again for the water we ordered (not the end of the world!) The smoothie bowls were very nice and pretty filling which is what we needed, also presented nicely.

So tasty and so fresh. I came here three days in a row! The summer rolls and smoothie bowls are heavenly. Definitely worth having a meal or two here!!

Pretty good experience here, the fruit bowl is very refreshing. However, I would say a little more fruit and less yogurt is better. Service is friendly and the staff speak good English. Understandable because this place is crowded with tourist, especially those from the West.

Two Little Birds Caffe felt like it was run by a mad scientist who hates fruit. The drinks? Imagine if someone poured you a thimble of juice, buried it in an iceberg, and then drowned it with fizzy water. Voilà, disappointment in a glass. Calling it “refreshing” would be like calling a hangover “a spiritual awakening.” I just wanted actual juice, not a chemistry experiment. The bowls at least tried to save the day. They looked decent and tasted okay, but some of the promised ingredients clearly got lost on their way from the kitchen to the table. Menu says one thing, bowl says “nah.” It wasn’t bad, but it felt like someone photocopied a salad and gave me the grayscale version. Verdict: you won’t leave angry, but you also won’t leave inspired. 3/5.

Love this little restaurant! I went everyday when I stayed in Luang Prabang. All the food is fresh, tasty and fairly priced. Mostly vegan (just remove eggs if there are). Fast service, plenty of options.

A real chilled bar overlooking the river. Great service. I had chicken snack, it’s quite pricey considering the amount and tasted average. I heard, a friend said pizza is good. The place is quite large with many areas to preferences like river terrace with lying pillow, bar counter, tables. Location wise, it’s quite deep in a small alley but not that difficult to find.

Quite good sunset experience in here. Very nice place located at the end of a dead end street. The setup of the bar is super nice and chill, you can easily relax and enjoy the view. There’s a happy hour on Lao cocktails, they were good and couldn’t feel the Lao Lao much but refreshing anyway. Recommend this place for sunset, the Freedom fries were good as well, you can be sure it is homemade.

The food was lush, the scenery was beautiful and overall a lovely experience. It’s chilled during the day and then like a bar at night. Many vegetarian and vegan options so me and my partner could both eat happy there. Plus it’s reasonably priced for travellers.

Chilled with a capital C! A great place to lounge around over looking the Nam Khan river. Many cushions, beanbags to relax on or tables and chairs if you want a meal. Nice selection on the menu, especially some exotic smoothie. We visited for lunch and think it must be really cool at night too. Not easy to stumble upon so follow the signs or Google maps!

It's tricky to get there. The location is very relaxed and well furnished directly to the river. We like their philosophy. The staff was friendly but quite slow and unattentive. Everything took much longer than in other places. Food was okay. The pulled pork sandwich was a bit boring from the taste, spices were missing. The chicken sate was a bit dry, but the sauce was excellent.

Great atmosphere and place to relax in a beautiful surrounding. The place is much larger than we expected with plenty of sitting areas, table, chairs, bean bags and even sleeping mats. They seem to encourage you to hangout and chill. We also enjoyed the cauliflower wings, spicy chicken tacos which were not spicy at all, as well as the cocktails and drinks. The prices are comparable to the many restaurants around but without the cool vibe.

5 stars for creating a cool Bohemian place with a great river view and super chill vibe. Hilariously challenging to find without Google Maps, but you will know when you have found "Utopia". Delicious, clean food, a deep, wide coctail menu -- with a Moscow Mule made with their own homemade ginger beer (not bad). Prices are reasonable. Played pool here, playing is free but the sticks are questionable. Drink prices can vary a lot, so be careful when ordering. Some can be 100,000 for a shot and other times it’s 30,000 for two beers.

We like the bar, great atmosphere and music. The drinks were too strong for me, but the others will probably appreciate it. The service was nice and good English speaking. I give 4 stars, because when we paid we were included drinks, which we did not have. Overall, we were satisfied.

We had a great time here. Bar is well stocked. Staff are competent and friendly. Pizza was pretty good (not legendary, but just fine). I brought some chili peppers with me and they diced them up and put them on the pizza for me. Good music and lively atmosphere. A little bit pricey but not outrageous. Also, one of the few places I found in town with draft beer.

This place is a vibe! And they accept Credit Card! Server was so nice and understood my broken Laotian (mostly English, haha). They currently have it decorated for Halloween and when I ordered the mushroom soup as an appetizer, the kitchen made a little ghost from the cream! So cute! Music was also vibin'. Highly recommend. FYI: There will always be a 3% surcharge when using your CC anywhere you go in Laos.

This was one of the best meals we have had. So delicious and original the tastes it was all just so delicious and flavourful. From the main to the desert we licked our plates clean. The prices were reasonable especially for what you are getting. The manager was very kind also and told us the owners are from france. So worth the visit!!

Amazing Food & Vibes – Lost In Baan Lost In Baan is a hidden gem in Luang Prabang with a cool, creative atmosphere and super flavorful food. The highlight for me was the Crying Tiger—perfectly grilled beef with a smoky, juicy texture and a dipping sauce that packed just the right punch. It was honestly one of the best dishes I had in Laos. The menu is full of unique Asian fusion plates, and everything we tried was beautifully presented and delicious. Staff were friendly, cocktails were great, and the whole place had a relaxed, artsy vibe. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Highly recommended if you want something beyond typical tourist spots. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!

Best place I ve tried in Asia with no doubt! Everything was amazing, from the dishes to the cocktails. The owners are two amazing people, you can see and feel that they have put all their heart in the food and the restaurant. I hope I can come back some day.

The ambience and food is great, they have limited options for vegetarian. Turmeric fish was great. But pricing on the high side compared other restaurants around.

Really good restaurant in the city centre of Luang Prabang! Delicious dishes, with a nice twist. Like the lox carrot carpaccio (as an alternative to salmon carpaccio), really recommended! Mains also good, with several vegetarian options. I had the tempeh, which was one of the best I had so far! Dessert also nice. Matcha latte was the odd one out, not very tasty. They also have WiFi and you can pay by card via Loca.

Great little noodle shop that serves pork khao soi noodles from early morning until they run out. The best part is the bowl of delicious vegetables and herbs that accompany the main dish itself. Mix with locals and visitors and make new friends.

The khao soi was excellent. It was a generous portion with a large side of vegetables. It’s quite different than the northern Thai equivalent but just as tasty. I also loved the road side setting. Highly reccomended!

Super good Khao Soy and Beef noodle soup. Tried the Khao Soy and it has a great depth of flavor. My kids had the beef noodle soup and we all want to eat it again for breakfast tomorrow.

This is the famous khao soi noodle in Luang Prabang. The menu is simple, just noodle soup and khao soi both at a whopping 20,000Kip per bowl. From that price you know that tourists had a role to play the prices. 20K is actually quite extravagant for a sidewalk Al fresco noodle shop. I ordered the Khao Soi (best place to sit is right in front of her) and I liked it. I didn't like the price but I felt it justified a quarter of what the dish satisfied in me. Pork broth with bolognese of fatty pork with flat rice noodles. A satisfying meal nonetheless and because every tourist blogs about it. They always almost sell out at 11am. So try to be there early. You can recognise the shop just further down from Scandinavian Bakery, and recognise them by the 3 black cauldrons smouldering in hot coals. Happy Travels.

Strolling around and try the sticky rice, bamboo shot local curry, mixed vegetables salad Luang Prabang recipe is amazing for me. Seeing way of folk life and chit chat to them is such a lovely.

If you want a real taste of local life in Luang Prabang, you’ve got to check out the Morning Market. We went super early—around 7am—and it was the perfect way to jump-start the day. You’ll see everything from fresh produce to surprises you definitely don’t see back home (we spotted some Sapa fish split wide open and even a skinned weasel…wild stuff!).It’s mostly for locals, so you get that authentic vibe—lots of sights, smells, and a few things that will totally throw you off in a good way. We picked up some coffee and wandered the stalls for a while, and honestly, it’s a must if you want to see the real rhythm of Luang Prabang. Just bring your curiosity (and maybe skip breakfast until you get here)!

Loved it!! We went around 6am and it was mostly locals buying fruits and vegetables. There are some prepared foods, and the spring roll we got was SO delicious. Lots of raw meats and fresh produce. Some curries, fried foods, street meat, etc. Overall a big vibe, would recommend.

Nice market to visit after the Alms ceremony. Fresh fish, meats, fruits, spices, teas and more. A nice walk, nice vibrant atmosphere and then we stopped at a coffee shop and enjoyed the view.

Most of it, if not all, are interesting and the cheapest in town. Only about a fifty-meter strip, it’s an array of legit Laotian food. Some are freshly cooked, some looked stale. Be prudent in choosing the right stall

Best food in Luang Prabang can be found here, they might look simple but very flavorful, our Dutch and Chinese bellies didn’t got upset for once after eating here for a week. Conclusion, friendly chefs, good taste, affordable prices. Definitely recommend it!

There are coconut pancake, rice skewers and fruit shakes stores at the front before heading in. The walkway can be a tad narrow when crowded. Local cuisines to try with prices being around 15-25k kip depending on what dishes you will be getting. Sticky rice at a standard 5k, fruit shake 10-15k kip and rice skewers/coconut pancakes at 5k. Bonus - a 20k kip vegetarian, one plate one price "buffet", where you load up on whatever you want and pay only 20k kip.

You could find local food like grilled meat, papaya salad, fresh fruits, the famous vegetarian buffet for 10K KIP, noodles, and so on. Price’s very good. I saw many locals eat there but the place doesn’t look very hygenic so for people who didn’t grow up with this should be careful.

Very simple food but good food on the Night Market Street Food for 25000 KIP = € 2,5 (1 cola zero, 1 soda water and 1 portion of fried rice with chicken) You just have to see if the stall makes a lot of portions prepared, then the food stays fresh.

Dec 24 We ordered rice noodle soup and noodle soup with minced pork sauce. The noodle soup with minced pork sauce came with flat rice noodle. It didn’t feel like there was meat inside except for some minced pork. The soup was tasty. The price for each bowl was 40.000 kip. The price in another review of this shop was 30.000 kip a year ago. That was a big price jump for a year. That’s the price to be in tourist area I guess. Still worth a try.

Tried the vegetarian soup. Asked for no meat, only vegetables. The soup was good, but ok. For the price of 50k it was a bit too expensive.

If you are looking very carefully you will find a stand - hidden vegan gems of Luang Prabang! Amazing vegan soup, where you can choose all the ingredients. Mushrooms are highly recommended!

It’s not bad although overpriced for sure at 20000. You can find other restaurants and cafes that’ll sell for 12-15000 next street over for the same quality n quantity.

Cheap and tasty pho and kao soi, with fresh veggies and noodles. I paid 30,000 Kip for a bowl which seemed reasonable for a tourist price. Nothing out of this world, but tasty and filling and the people serving are friendly. Surrounding night market gives it a nice atmosphere. Note that kao soi in Laos isn’t spicy and not like Thai kao soi with the crispy noodles

The shop is around the night market along the main street. I had their Khao Soy noodle which is a spicy noodle soup and it was delicious. Throw in basil, lettuce and some lime juice for extra flavour. They also have chilli on the side if you want it hotter. The cost is at 20,000kip (around usd2.50). Cheap good street food.

Nice decoration rooms and easy chairs for seating, coffee is okay, staff are friendly, drinks and snacks are affordable price. Location is hidden in the Conner of a small village, in the end of Luang Prabang old bridge, not easy to find but you will find it if you are really want to try out their coffee and services.

Digital nomads -- Internet is 50~ symmetrical. The interior is unique. Very close to the one lane bike bridge. Worth a visit. I saw some seats by the wall that have electrical plugs near by.
