Laotian restaurant
Asian restaurant
Tamarind is a unique establishment in Laos that serves as both a restaurant and a cooking school. Founded by an Australian woman and her Lao partner, Tamarind aims to offer visitors an exotic experience while educating them about Laotian cuisine. The restaurant sources ingredients from local suppliers, contributing to the community while introducing guests to the wonders of Lao food.
They offer very good dishes and above average hospitality. Due to budget limit, I ordered 3 dishes, fish in banana, sticky rice and sweet sticky rice with banana, mango and tamarind sauce. They all tasted good and well- cooked in new way. I would love to cook these dishes back home.
Tran — Google review
food was authentic and tasted very good, we took the bamboo soup and a set sharing menu for two of us, was all delicious. nice ambiance, and excellent service. We liked a lot the bamboo chips and the laolao rice whisky, we tried three flavors! The chilly one is great! Haha we like spicy. We preferred the table inside because there was not much to see and enjoy along the street. I definitely recommend this place. And we would come back to try also other dishes too.
Francesca Y — Google review
We went for lunch, wanted to try a little bit of everything so went with a tasting menu - some of it really good, some not for my taste. Service was excellent and the tamarind drink was definitely interesting. We liked the mango sticky rice with black rice the best
Sreelakshmi — Google review
We had a fantastic evening at Tamarind Restaurant, where we chose to try the vegan tasting menu. It was an excellent decision. The dishes were all incredibly fresh and vibrant, and it was clear that each one had been prepared with great care and attention to detail. The generous use of fresh, local herbs made every bite a delight. The entire experience was enhanced by the wonderful service. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain each dish and its traditional Laotian context. This guidance added an authentic layer to the meal, showing us not just what to eat, but how to eat it. Tamarind offers a perfect blend of authentic Laotian cuisine, high-quality ingredients, and outstanding service. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly memorable meal in Luang Prabang.

I like this restaurant and I came here 3 times during visiting Luang Prabang. The restaurant serve the traditional Laotian foods and very unique. Full of favourites and very tasty. We ordered Bamboo soup and Som moo sour pork and it was fantastic 😋 highly recommend. The only dish that I would avoided is Stir fried Basil leaf with Frog 🐸 if you don't eat a whole Frog. It was not just a Frog's legs but the whole body of Frog's with skin. The staff was so friendly and he said Laos people eat the whole Frog. We came again to try another dishes and the staff gave us a house dessert.
Curvy K — Google review
The best restaurant we visited in Luang Prabang! All the food and drink we tried (we ordered the vegan set) was absolutely delicious, an explosion of different flavours and really big portions. The service was super attentive, explained all the dishes and how to eat them. We got the impression that they really cared about bringing Laotian food culture to tourists. We also booked a cooking class with them which was a fantastic experience as well! Can only recommend❤️
Stefanie M — Google review
If you truly want to experience authentic Lao foods and if you aren’t afraid of unusual flavors and ingredients and textures, try Tamarind. I love to experiment and explore all things new in every country I visit, so I sought out Tamarind. Be brave! Try it yourself.

Restaurant
BOUANG Asian Eatery is a charming restaurant located on the main thoroughfare in LP's Old Town. This vegetarian-friendly eatery offers a modern take on Lao cuisine, gaining recognition for its delicious burgers. The vibrant interior with colorful chairs, unique light fixtures, and mural-covered walls attracts both locals and tourists. It's an ideal spot to enjoy a relaxing lunch break and escape the midday heat.
Our last dine in Luang Prabang. Turned out to be so good. The dishes are absolutely tasty and well-cooked. Not so much options of foods but good variety and diversity of cuisines offering both local and western dishes. The portions are just right and not too much. We love a good seating for good vibes, view and location. The staff were accommodating and flexible on how you want your foods and drinks done. Prices are a little high for Laos but it’s tourist price and tourist food value. So yeah, good place to grab some good foods.
Jenny W — Google review
Good choice of restaurants for sampling Lao dishes or some western comfort food. Nice modern decor and the staff were more attentive and helpful than most of those nearby. Would happily have come back and sampled more dishes. Found the river weed a bit over busy with the nuts, dips and sausages were great. One of the better sausages I've had in Laos. Quiet for lunch but very busy at night.
Simon G — Google review
It was our second day in Luang Prabang. We asked Copilot 2 times, and it recommended this restaurant. Food is perfect, good service, good price. Good location also. If you plan to visit Phousi Mountain. It is just a few metres from the exit.
Adhitya I — Google review
One of the absolute best restaurants I’ve ever been to! Every dish was outstanding — bursting with incredible flavours. The highlight for us was the Nem Khao with vegetables, a dish we tried for the first time. Its crispy yet juicy texture and out-of-this-world flavours truly impressed us! The red curry with tofu and the veggie burger were also excellent. The service was exceptional. When we informed the staff about our allergies, they went above and beyond — even replacing the burger patty after it had already been served, despite us notifying them quite late. Located in the heart of the historic district, the restaurant overlooks the main street, making it the perfect spot for an evening out. We can’t recommend it highly enough!
Palak R — Google review
The food I ordered was a bit salty and not really good at that time. The hamburger was light and not really interesting as expected. I came here thanks to recommendation from my sister. However, the restaurant is decorated quite nicely even though the space is not spacious enough.
Hưng T — Google review
I went here as it was recommended by so many people but I guess the taste was not what I was looking for. My burger was bland in taste. In contrast Khao Soy was too salty for my preference. The french fries were good. It doesn't guarantee a re-visit for me.
Thien D — Google review
Food was amazing, we had the laos meatballs, papaya and mango salad and a rice with coconut dish that was recommended by the staff. The food was absolutely incredible! Definitely 5 stars! Service was lovely and so was the atmosphere. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Flea & Street Markets
Luang Prabang Night Market is a vibrant and bustling hub of local culture, offering an array of remarkable handicrafts and traditional Lao garments. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry as they browse through finely woven textiles, intricate wooden creations, authentic pottery, delicate silver jewellery, and vibrant silk scarves. The market also boasts a variety of delectable street foods and local specialties like the renowned Luang Prabang sausage.
Prices for the same items are nearly the exact same at all the shops. Items aren’t all that expensive so you could bargain if you are really short on cash, but otherwise it’s good to help the locals, it’s all relatively inexpensive anyways. It’s a good night market for souvenir hunting. Shirts, handmade goods, local food and whiskey. Many options to choose from
B — Google review
The market is nice and clean. Nobody was forcing me to buy stuff from them. So even if i am just looking they are ok with that. Which is the best thing trust me. Mostly there are crafts and local things you can buy from here. A good place to spend your evenings. Lots of cafes and bars to enjoy dinner
Deepti G — Google review
So much to look at. Many beautiful handmade items to buy. Or just for a walk and soak up the atmosphere. The food court had many options. Locd everything about Luang Prabang and the people
Saint — Google review
Certainly! The Luang Prabang Night Market is one of the highlights of any visit to this charming UNESCO town. Every evening, the main street transforms into a lively and colorful walking street filled with hundreds of stalls selling handcrafted goods, delicious local food, and unique souvenirs. What makes this market special is its laid-back atmosphere and strong focus on local culture. Many of the vendors are artisans from nearby villages, offering beautiful handwoven textiles, traditional wood carvings, and silver jewelry. It’s a great place to find authentic Lao crafts while supporting local communities. The food section is a real treat — tucked away in a side alley, you’ll find an array of affordable and tasty Lao dishes like grilled meats, noodle soups, fresh spring rolls, and tropical fruit smoothies. Everything is cooked fresh, and the variety is impressive. The market is well-organized, clean, and easy to walk through. It’s not overwhelming like some markets in Southeast Asia, which makes the experience more enjoyable. Prices are reasonable, and friendly bargaining is welcomed. Overall, the Luang Prabang Night Market is more than just a place to shop — it’s a vibrant cultural experience. Whether you’re looking for a unique gift, trying street food, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, this market captures the soul of Luang Prabang beautifully. Highly recommended for: ✔️ Cultural lovers ✔️ Foodies ✔️ Anyone who enjoys browsing local markets in a relaxed, friendly setting
Savon V — Google review
Plenty of food options and lots of cute stalls to explore. Some items in the crafts market may feel a bit overpriced, but considering the craftsmanship and effort from local artisans, it feels fair and well worth supporting.
Shri V — Google review
I liked the night market visually, nicely lit and quite long. I would have appreciated the food the most, because the products did not impress me much. T-shirts with elephant outfits and small wallets for documents. But overall a nice atmosphere. Anyone who visits this city should take a walk here
Filip R — Google review
Very lively and there are plenty of stuff to see, buy and eat. The beautiful lighting of a temple. Friendly vendors and they were not pushy!

Nestled in a secluded spot near the Red Cross massage parlour, Bamboo Garden Restaurant exudes an air of secrecy. Tucked away down an unpaved alley across from Wat Visoun, this hidden gem is marked by a hand-painted sign and the melodic strains of Lao music.
Wow wow wow! Bamboo Garden has excellent authentic food with superb service. We had vegetable curry, stir fry morning glory & shrimp rice. All dishes were superb in taste & flavour. Our favourite food spot in Luang Prabang. Heavily recommend!

Ate here several times and everytime when I eat the food it is consistently tastful. It’s a family restaurant and they are very welcoming. If I ever again visit Luang Prabang I would go here again. Would recomment it to anyone!

Bamboo Garden in Luang Prabang is a must-visit! This charming spot exceeded expectations with its huge portions and incredibly delicious food. I devoured the Pad Thai with chicken and the pork omelette, both bursting with flavor. Beyond the fantastic fare, the staff was exceptionally nice, making for a truly memorable dining experience. Don't miss this little gem!

We ate here twice during our stay in Luang Prabang and really loved it both times. Both the food and the service are fantastic. We wanted to come back once more but stupidly hadn’t checked whether it was open on a Sunday. Would highly recommend if you are in Luang Prabang to visit here

Made with LOVE! everything here from the food to the generous hospitality reflects love. Real homemade cooking, authentic Lao cuisine variety. Very affordable. We did dine several times during our Luang Prabang stay. Highly recommend and not to miss ♥️

Visited here a few times as they were able to prepare my food gluten free as I am celiac. The food each time was very good, and good portion sizes too! The owner of the restaurant spoke very good English and understood celiac, as did his wife who was the chef. Not many gluten free finds in luang Prebang so definitely recommend!

Lovely staff, great atmosphere and the food was delicious- would recommend the chicken curry!

Incredible dishes. We got the stir fried chicken with basil and the vegetable curry and added chicken. Both were fresh and delicious. Very Thai inspired. We also got the sausage as an appetizer and it came out after our main dishes. It was very mid. Don’t recommend. Their main dishes though are insane!

Bar
Icon Klub, located in the heart of Luang Prabang's old town, is a quirky and awesome bar founded by Elizabeth, a Hungarian native who fell in love with the city. The establishment boasts Dada-esque art and a friendly clientele, making it easy to strike up conversations and make new friends from around the world.
It’s my first stop when I arrive in Luang Prabang. There’s good reason, Lisa, the bartender owner has won the accolades of the New York Times, The Daily telegraph and numerous other publications. Atmospheric. Premium liquors. Creative and classic cocktails. Warm and engaging host.
C C — Google review
What a cool little place! Warm, inviting and inspiring. The drinks I had were very good... Sure, they may be a little pricier than alternatives, but I was quickly inspired to have more drinks so I could soak up that atmosphere a bit longer. I thought it was a kitschy dive bar when I saw it from the street...It is anything but. Worth a visit and a re-visit.
William J — Google review
Bravo! Icon Klub’s charm never disappoints & still the best cocktail lounge in Luang Prabang. Congrats.
Stephen G — Google review
Nice bar to chill out after a long walk. Friendly service, but the cocktails are very pricey, which costs $15 for Pho Gin&Tonic.
Ming M — Google review
Google Maps says "Open" but a sign on the Bar door says "open in June". Today is 7:00pm, the 3rd of June 2025 and it's still not open. Back in April 2017 the bar was also closed cause Elizabeth, the owner/manager/bartender, didn't like getting wet during the Songkran water festival. Well that"s what she told me in December 2017 when I finally met her. Maybe this "she'll be right" Lao attitude has got to her. Yes Patience is a virtue unless you have spent $$$ getting to this bar in Lao and have less than 1 week in Luang Prabang!
Peter H — Google review
Cool, unassuming bar serving good cocktails from a comprehensive list. Fair prices, good tunes, great bartender. A great place to start the evening before dinner or to end up at after dinner.

Tangor Restaurant Bar & Lounge is a popular spot in town, known for its delicious tilapia ceviche and a full cocktail repertoire. The owners have extensive experience and offer great customer service in a relaxed atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the ambiance with 60s and 70s music while savoring the delectable dishes.
Excellent restaurant for western/fusion food. Chicken satay, grilled fish, suckling pig (tastes like Chinese braised pork) and the sharing platter (had vegan foiegras which exceeded my carnivorous expectations). We had to catch the hotel shuttle bus and asked them to expedite the dinner which they very helpfully did. Kudos to Thibault and team for the excellent dinner which we all enjoyed

This is a pretty chill bar in Luang Prabang. The decorations are nicely done and give the place a cozy, laid-back vibe. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Prices are affordable, and the location is perfect—right on the same street as the night market, so it’s easy to find and convenient to stop by after exploring.
Ella B — Google review
We are visiting Luang Prabang from Mexico, and I must say that the Ceviche is exactly what the other reviews describe: amazing, great, delicious, etc etc. Totally recommended. The rest of food in the menu is also delicious, prices very reasonable and the restaurant and location in one of the areas main streets. Last but not least, staff and owners provided a great service.
Alex V — Google review
Perfect for people watching from the terrace. Full bar, friendly servers, and everything our group tried on the menu was enjoyed. The house specialty of ceviche was my favorite. Also the fish in the parchment paper. Very tasty.
C C — Google review
I suffered from mild food poisoning here after eating a raw burger that I ordered to be cooked medium. This probably would have been fine if they used good quality beef but given my vomiting the morning after they used cheap beef mince for their burgers and also don’t cook it for long enough.

Good food, cold beer, friendly people, excellent staff, go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy yourself. Highly recommend !!!!!!!
Hopslim — Google review
We stopped for a snack and had the red lentil dip which is actually a hummus and it was amazing. We also had the fried chicken appetizer that was so awesome. I figured it would just be regular batter fried chicken and it was except the flavor and texture of the batter was different than anything I’ve had. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the main dishes.

This is a chill place to hang out and watch people go about their business on the main drag. We came here often during our visit to Luang Prabang when we wanted a coke and / or a cool beer. A little bit pricey but worth it. European style pizza and really good taste, stuff are so nice. Perfect for dinner in Luang Prabang! Also, you can add your own ingredients to your pizza for a small price.
Klaudia H — Google review
The pasta was absolutely delicious, especially the basil and bacon penne — a definite highlight! The pizza was also flavorful and enjoyable. While the food was great, the service staff could have been more skilled, which would have elevated the experience. That said, it was still a satisfying and yummy meal overall. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, which is convenient. We opted to sit inside as the garden area was a bit chilly. Its location near the main street makes it easily accessible. A great spot for a hearty meal!

Visited this Italian restaurant twice within one year. The first visit was perfect while the second time seems to be a different one. I don’t know what happened as the pizza I ordered tasted like from two worlds. As for the space, it is cozy and can accept group tourists. They provide wine with reasonable price, although of the limited choices.
Leo Z — Google review
Very nice. I had the vegan pasta. It was spaghetti in a tomato vegetable sauce. The vegetables included broccoli, onion, olive, cherry tomato, cauliflower and garlic. It was a nice big portion. Even though it was 'vegan pasta', it came with dairy cheese in a small dish on the side (I gave it to my sister to put on her chips). My sister and dad shared a meat lovers pizza and chips. His girlfriend customised a margherita with olives and chicken. The pizza was large, cooked really nicely and they said it was delicious. My dad also really like the Beerlao which was a light cloudy beer. Very attentive and accommodating staff. Lovely large air conditioned middle part of the restaurant (the rear was a covered outside area and there is seating out the front, too). They also have nice single stall toilets.

We had such a lovely meal here! We were craving some western food and this place pulled through. We were sat out the back under a tree filled with gorgeous string lights. There was music playing, it was a great atmosphere. I got the spicy pasta and tiramisu which were both amazing!! Pasta is my favourite food and this one was top notch, I was savouring each bite. I am vegetarian and my sister is vegan and we had multiple dishes to choose from. The staff were so lovely and kind. Would defo recommend!!

Two Little Birds Cafe is a charming vegan eatery in Luang Prabang, run by a local family and surviving the pandemic. The menu features fresh, vegan-friendly dishes like smoothie bowls, vegetable curries, and traditional Lao coffee. Located behind Dao Coffee near Amantaka Hotel, this family-owned establishment offers friendly service and fair prices. Visitors can enjoy delicious food that can be made vegan or vegetarian by default.
Visited this cafe twice and had a great experience both times. The smoothie bowls are the best I've had and I love that the full menu is vegetarian. I'm not veggie, but used this cafe as an opportunity to get more nutrients in while travelling. Highly recommend - quality food and service! ♥️
Robyn — Google review
This place is okay, we just wanted a couple of smoothie bowls and had been recommended to come here. The service wasn’t great for us, felt like we’d been forgotten about - the owner apologised as he thought we’d already ordered. Then I had to ask again for the water we ordered (not the end of the world!) The smoothie bowls were very nice and pretty filling which is what we needed, also presented nicely.

So tasty and so fresh. I came here three days in a row! The summer rolls and smoothie bowls are heavenly. Definitely worth having a meal or two here!!
Melissa D — Google review
Pretty good experience here, the fruit bowl is very refreshing. However, I would say a little more fruit and less yogurt is better. Service is friendly and the staff speak good English. Understandable because this place is crowded with tourist, especially those from the West.

The vegan food was delicious, the staff was friendly and spoke a little bit of English. The prices were very reasonable! Really recommend it!

The berry smoothie bowl never disappoints. Fresh fruit, yogurt, and berries, sweet, refreshing, and fresh in every bite. So good. Highly recommended.
B.S. K — Google review
Two Little Birds Caffe felt like it was run by a mad scientist who hates fruit. The drinks? Imagine if someone poured you a thimble of juice, buried it in an iceberg, and then drowned it with fizzy water. Voilà, disappointment in a glass. Calling it “refreshing” would be like calling a hangover “a spiritual awakening.” I just wanted actual juice, not a chemistry experiment. The bowls at least tried to save the day. They looked decent and tasted okay, but some of the promised ingredients clearly got lost on their way from the kitchen to the table. Menu says one thing, bowl says “nah.” It wasn’t bad, but it felt like someone photocopied a salad and gave me the grayscale version. Verdict: you won’t leave angry, but you also won’t leave inspired. 3/5.

Love this little restaurant! I went everyday when I stayed in Luang Prabang. All the food is fresh, tasty and fairly priced. Mostly vegan (just remove eggs if there are). Fast service, plenty of options.

Utopia Bar & Restaurant is a hidden gem located along the Nam Khan river, offering a serene and idyllic dining experience. During the day, visitors can enjoy the lush green tropical garden and partake in morning yoga sessions. At night, the venue transforms into a candle-lit chill-out lounge with live music, attracting backpackers and travelers seeking a laid-back atmosphere.
Really cool place with spectacular view of the river. First night we came for beers and cocktails - they're simple but quite good. Next morning we came back for my first ever yoga class (7.30 am drop in class - 40,000 kip) and I really enjoyed it - great way to start your morning. We then stayed here for breakfast and it was absolutely amazing - my girlfriend had Shakshuka bowl and I had Huevos Rancheros - both dishes were incredibly tasty. I'm pretty sure we'll come back again tomorrow and the rest of our stay.

A real chilled bar overlooking the river. Great service. I had chicken snack, it’s quite pricey considering the amount and tasted average. I heard, a friend said pizza is good. The place is quite large with many areas to preferences like river terrace with lying pillow, bar counter, tables. Location wise, it’s quite deep in a small alley but not that difficult to find.
Jah P — Google review
Quite good sunset experience in here. Very nice place located at the end of a dead end street. The setup of the bar is super nice and chill, you can easily relax and enjoy the view. There’s a happy hour on Lao cocktails, they were good and couldn’t feel the Lao Lao much but refreshing anyway. Recommend this place for sunset, the Freedom fries were good as well, you can be sure it is homemade.
Arnaud T — Google review
The food was lush, the scenery was beautiful and overall a lovely experience. It’s chilled during the day and then like a bar at night. Many vegetarian and vegan options so me and my partner could both eat happy there. Plus it’s reasonably priced for travellers.

Chilled with a capital C! A great place to lounge around over looking the Nam Khan river. Many cushions, beanbags to relax on or tables and chairs if you want a meal. Nice selection on the menu, especially some exotic smoothie. We visited for lunch and think it must be really cool at night too. Not easy to stumble upon so follow the signs or Google maps!
Vincent O — Google review
It's tricky to get there. The location is very relaxed and well furnished directly to the river. We like their philosophy. The staff was friendly but quite slow and unattentive. Everything took much longer than in other places. Food was okay. The pulled pork sandwich was a bit boring from the taste, spices were missing. The chicken sate was a bit dry, but the sauce was excellent.
Fab I — Google review
Great atmosphere and place to relax in a beautiful surrounding. The place is much larger than we expected with plenty of sitting areas, table, chairs, bean bags and even sleeping mats. They seem to encourage you to hangout and chill. We also enjoyed the cauliflower wings, spicy chicken tacos which were not spicy at all, as well as the cocktails and drinks. The prices are comparable to the many restaurants around but without the cool vibe.
Virginia A — Google review
5 stars for creating a cool Bohemian place with a great river view and super chill vibe. Hilariously challenging to find without Google Maps, but you will know when you have found "Utopia". Delicious, clean food, a deep, wide coctail menu -- with a Moscow Mule made with their own homemade ginger beer (not bad). Prices are reasonable. Recommend to go before sunset to lounge and enjoy the view. Plan to spend some time here! Don't regret overlooking this place. [Please "like" if you find this review helpful]

Redbul Sport Bar is a popular spot for budget-friendly drinks and a lively atmosphere. It's known for its regulars who love the pool table and the variety of affordable liquor-plus-mixer drinks. The bar is a great place to catch live sporting events while enjoying reasonably priced drinks and tasty food options. The ambiance is enjoyable, especially during happy hour, with friendly staff catering to patrons.
Prominent corner location in the Unesco Heritage city center. Cool relaxed ambiance. Ideal for a drink or food with friends. I recommend the very well prepared mojito made with local rhum 👍

Played pool here, playing is free but the sticks are questionable. Drink prices can vary a lot, so be careful when ordering. Some can be 100,000 for a shot and other times it’s 30,000 for two beers.

We like the bar, great atmosphere and music. The drinks were too strong for me, but the others will probably appreciate it. The service was nice and good English speaking. I give 4 stars, because when we paid we were included drinks, which we did not have. Overall, we were satisfied.

I’m a huge fan of the mango-pineapple smoothie! In fact I get one everyday ♥️ The bartender is super friendly & remembers me in spite of not having an alcoholic beverage! Very welcoming, highly recommend.

A very Good restaurant to have food and drink. Downside they have only glass of lao beer on Tap and nothing towers or Jugs available. Rest everything was great.

We had a great time here. Bar is well stocked. Staff are competent and friendly. Pizza was pretty good (not legendary, but just fine). I brought some chili peppers with me and they diced them up and put them on the pizza for me. Good music and lively atmosphere. A little bit pricey but not outrageous. Also, one of the few places I found in town with draft beer.

This place is a vibe! And they accept Credit Card! Server was so nice and understood my broken Laotian (mostly English, haha). They currently have it decorated for Halloween and when I ordered the mushroom soup as an appetizer, the kitchen made a little ghost from the cream! So cute! Music was also vibin'. Highly recommend. Lost In Baan - Asian Fusion is a charming restaurant located away from the hustle and bustle, offering a cool and stylish ambiance. The owners' passion and talent shine through in the menu, which features perfectly balanced dishes with a fusion of flavors. Despite being somewhat smaller in portion size, each dish is mind-blowing and leaves diners feeling full and satisfied. The vegan options are also highly recommended, with delicious offerings like dragon fruit pancakes with fake salmon.
Unbelievably Good Food, Great Music, Tastefully Designed and excellent service - not to mention trendy with a great vibe. I can honestly say, this is the BEST FOOD in Luang Prabang- and hey, I have over 1 million views now - so you could say that people like and value my posts - plus I say this because this is probably the most ‘heartfelt’ post I have ever written. Chris & Sara + their amazing staff deserve to be recognized for their excellence.

Immaculate food and overall experience. I usually hate when people say “this is the best…I’ve ever had” but I think this is actually the best pork belly I’ve ever had. My applause to the chef! Matcha cheesecake was delicate and delicious as well. Felt like a very refined dining experience and I’m glad I decided to stop by

This was one of the best meals we have had. So delicious and original the tastes it was all just so delicious and flavourful. From the main to the desert we licked our plates clean. The prices were reasonable especially for what you are getting. The manager was very kind also and told us the owners are from france. So worth the visit!!

Amazing Food & Vibes – Lost In Baan Lost In Baan is a hidden gem in Luang Prabang with a cool, creative atmosphere and super flavorful food. The highlight for me was the Crying Tiger—perfectly grilled beef with a smoky, juicy texture and a dipping sauce that packed just the right punch. It was honestly one of the best dishes I had in Laos. The menu is full of unique Asian fusion plates, and everything we tried was beautifully presented and delicious. Staff were friendly, cocktails were great, and the whole place had a relaxed, artsy vibe. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Highly recommended if you want something beyond typical tourist spots. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!

Really good restaurant in the city centre of Luang Prabang! Delicious dishes, with a nice twist. Like the lox carrot carpaccio (as an alternative to salmon carpaccio), really recommended! Mains also good, with several vegetarian options. I had the tempeh, which was one of the best I had so far! Dessert also nice. Matcha latte was the odd one out, not very tasty. Laotian restaurant
When in Luang Prabang, one must try the unique Khao Soi noodle soup, which differs from the Chiang Mai version. Served with clear stock and topped with chili and fermented soybean paste, it boasts a bright red hue. Despite not being highly recommended, Sackarinh Guest House offers delicious and affordable Khao Soi.
Quite possibly the best Khao Soi I tried in my month in Laos, well balanced and full of flavour with nice noodles cooked well to the bite. Its a small family run shop with super friendly owners but with limited seating and serves only from 7:30 - 12:00pm, so be sure to arrive early before they run out.
A — Google review
Khao soy tastes unique and more delicious than the noodle. Vegetables are fresh and well prepared and displayed on the dish.

Outstanding chicken and broth noodles with blood cubes - served with fresh bean sprout and lemon slices. Maybe the best I have had since my Javanese wandering days - I would return to the city for the noodles alone
Alun E — Google review
Khao Soi is a must-try dish for anyone visiting the city. It’s a great way to experience local flavors that differ from the more commonly known Thai version of the dish. Whether you're a foodie on a mission to explore Lao cuisine or just a traveler looking for a tasty meal, Khao Soi in Luang Prabang is sure to leave a unique impression.
Kantima X — Google review
Great little noodle shop that serves pork khao soi noodles from early morning until they run out. The best part is the bowl of delicious vegetables and herbs that accompany the main dish itself. Mix with locals and visitors and make new friends.
Chris G — Google review
The khao soi was excellent. It was a generous portion with a large side of vegetables. It’s quite different than the northern Thai equivalent but just as tasty. I also loved the road side setting. Highly reccomended!
Simon T — Google review
Super good Khao Soy and Beef noodle soup. Tried the Khao Soy and it has a great depth of flavor. My kids had the beef noodle soup and we all want to eat it again for breakfast tomorrow.
Kelly C — Google review
This is the famous khao soi noodle in Luang Prabang. The menu is simple, just noodle soup and khao soi both at a whopping 20,000Kip per bowl. From that price you know that tourists had a role to play the prices. 20K is actually quite extravagant for a sidewalk Al fresco noodle shop. I ordered the Khao Soi (best place to sit is right in front of her) and I liked it. I didn't like the price but I felt it justified a quarter of what the dish satisfied in me. Pork broth with bolognese of fatty pork with flat rice noodles. A satisfying meal nonetheless and because every tourist blogs about it. They always almost sell out at 11am. So try to be there early. You can recognise the shop just further down from Scandinavian Bakery, and recognise them by the 3 black cauldrons smouldering in hot coals. Happy Travels.

The Luang Prabang morning market is a vibrant and bustling place where local vendors sell an array of goods, including fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and handmade textiles. Visitors can immerse themselves in the cultural richness by exploring traditional Lao garments, marveling at intricate Hmong embroidery, and admiring crafts from hill tribes.
Very local and touristy market at the same time. We liked to pickup some sticky rice with some barbecue grilled meat, sausages and eat at a coffee stall right in the middle of the market. If we ever come back to Luang Prabang and stay at an Airbnb with kitchen, I’d not miss the chance to go to this fresh market and cook Lao dishes, the herbs and veggies here were just mind blowing. Things we tried and liked: mungbean cake, coconut crepe, seaweed floss with sticky rice, Lao sausage, fermented pork, some sweet dessert dipped in coconut flakes, coconut milk dessert Things we tried and didn’t like: grilled banana (too dry), bee wax (might be good as ingredient to cook but eaten just bee wax like this was…meh), croissant (curious to try but it was a no go 😂)
Tam L — Google review
Strolling around and try the sticky rice, bamboo shot local curry, mixed vegetables salad Luang Prabang recipe is amazing for me. Seeing way of folk life and chit chat to them is such a lovely.

If you want a real taste of local life in Luang Prabang, you’ve got to check out the Morning Market. We went super early—around 7am—and it was the perfect way to jump-start the day. You’ll see everything from fresh produce to surprises you definitely don’t see back home (we spotted some Sapa fish split wide open and even a skinned weasel…wild stuff!).It’s mostly for locals, so you get that authentic vibe—lots of sights, smells, and a few things that will totally throw you off in a good way. We picked up some coffee and wandered the stalls for a while, and honestly, it’s a must if you want to see the real rhythm of Luang Prabang. Just bring your curiosity (and maybe skip breakfast until you get here)!

Must see if you’ve never been to a wet market without the odors of a standard wet market. With cooked food, vegetables, fruit, to freshly caught fish/birds and larvae, this is a great way to see how the locals do their shopping. Oct 2024

Very local market. Interesting to see how the local people shop for food and necessities. It is open dairy. If you have a weak stomach, pass this by.

Loved it!! We went around 6am and it was mostly locals buying fruits and vegetables. There are some prepared foods, and the spring roll we got was SO delicious. Lots of raw meats and fresh produce. Some curries, fried foods, street meat, etc. Overall a big vibe, would recommend.

Head over to Sisavangvong Road and treat yourself to a feast at Food Street, where you can indulge in Laotian delicacies like sticky rice, barbecued chicken skewers, and flavorful khao piak sen noodles. Once you've satisfied your hunger, explore the adjacent Night Market for a variety of souvenirs such as elephant-printed clothing and traditional Lao crafts. Additionally, the market offers an array of affordable food stalls serving local and Western cuisine.
Great pad Thai at the ‘Luang Prabang street food stall’ opposite ‘Pizza Ori bakery’s’ . Cooked freshly in front of us. Lovely little table to sit at opposite to soak up the atmosphere. Easily the tastiest pad Thai we have had on our travels (we’ve had many!). Recommend giving this place a try

It's a great experience to see this street and grab a street food. Prices are cheaper than on the night market, quality a good one for street food. Great juices selection and super tasty coconut mini-pancakes! We had as well a tom yum soup - definitelly recommended

Most of it, if not all, are interesting and the cheapest in town. Only about a fifty-meter strip, it’s an array of legit Laotian food. Some are freshly cooked, some looked stale. Be prudent in choosing the right stall
Ian D — Google review
Best food in Luang Prabang can be found here, they might look simple but very flavorful, our Dutch and Chinese bellies didn’t got upset for once after eating here for a week. Conclusion, friendly chefs, good taste, affordable prices. Definitely recommend it!
Chen Y — Google review
There are coconut pancake, rice skewers and fruit shakes stores at the front before heading in. The walkway can be a tad narrow when crowded. Local cuisines to try with prices being around 15-25k kip depending on what dishes you will be getting. Sticky rice at a standard 5k, fruit shake 10-15k kip and rice skewers/coconut pancakes at 5k. Bonus - a 20k kip vegetarian, one plate one price "buffet", where you load up on whatever you want and pay only 20k kip.
Alicia N — Google review
You could find local food like grilled meat, papaya salad, fresh fruits, the famous vegetarian buffet for 10K KIP, noodles, and so on. Price’s very good. I saw many locals eat there but the place doesn’t look very hygenic so for people who didn’t grow up with this should be careful.
Jah P — Google review
Very simple food but good food on the Night Market Street Food for 25000 KIP = € 2,5 (1 cola zero, 1 soda water and 1 portion of fried rice with chicken) You just have to see if the stall makes a lot of portions prepared, then the food stays fresh.

If you're wandering through Luang Prabang and find yourself craving a comforting bowl of noodle soup, look no further than the Noodle Soup Night Market. Nestled next to a bustling junction, this unassuming eatery is a treasure trove of Laotian flavors. While it may not have an official name, it's renowned for its homemade dishes that include crispy pork noodles and classic favorites like fried rice and laap.
It is a small restaurant that only opens together with the night market hours. They offer 3 main dishes (you can see other photos in my review for 2 of them). And it takes 40,000 kip for one bowl. The soup is good. I strongly suggest rice noodles soup as it has more toppings than the other one.
Hoài V — Google review
Dec 24 We ordered rice noodle soup and noodle soup with minced pork sauce. The noodle soup with minced pork sauce came with flat rice noodle. It didn’t feel like there was meat inside except for some minced pork. The soup was tasty. The price for each bowl was 40.000 kip. The price in another review of this shop was 30.000 kip a year ago. That was a big price jump for a year. That’s the price to be in tourist area I guess. Still worth a try.
Harry N — Google review
Tried the vegetarian soup. Asked for no meat, only vegetables. The soup was good, but ok. For the price of 50k it was a bit too expensive.
Alejandro C — Google review
It was very good! I tried the veggie one and it was delicious. And it only costed me 40kip which is like 2 euros
Christian S — Google review
If you are looking very carefully you will find a stand - hidden vegan gems of Luang Prabang! Amazing vegan soup, where you can choose all the ingredients. Mushrooms are highly recommended!
Katarzyna F — Google review
It’s not bad although overpriced for sure at 20000. You can find other restaurants and cafes that’ll sell for 12-15000 next street over for the same quality n quantity.
MiNa K — Google review
Cheap and tasty pho and kao soi, with fresh veggies and noodles. I paid 30,000 Kip for a bowl which seemed reasonable for a tourist price. Nothing out of this world, but tasty and filling and the people serving are friendly. Surrounding night market gives it a nice atmosphere. Note that kao soi in Laos isn’t spicy and not like Thai kao soi with the crispy noodles
Brigid F — Google review
The shop is around the night market along the main street. I had their Khao Soy noodle which is a spicy noodle soup and it was delicious. Throw in basil, lettuce and some lime juice for extra flavour. They also have chilli on the side if you want it hotter. The cost is at 20,000kip (around usd2.50). Cheap good street food.

With air conditioning indoors, comfortable seating, and affordable prices, this hidden gem is worth seeking out for its delicious cuisine and delightful beverages.
Stumbled upon this cafe near the old french bridge (A must walk if you're in the area, the views are spectacular and the feeling you get while trying to cross is a thrill on its own) I digress! The cafe was so uniquely decorated and styled, it was a treat just sitting down and soaking it all in. The staff was great, very warm and accommodating, and the drink menu was deep to say the least, lots of choice. everything from a nicely roasted americano to an iced citrus expresso tonic. very crafty and an experience on its own. Even better, the prices are very reasonable, LEAVE A TIP! even the smallest goes a long way. Would highly recommend, we loved it. cheers!
