Cafe
Saffron Coffee, now known as Saffron Espresso, Brew Bar, and Roastery, has relocated to a new spot on riverfront Khem Kong Road in Luang Prabang. The revamped location features a casually cool atmosphere with terra-cotta floor tiles and an impressive roasting machine. The cafe offers exceptional coffee made from organic, shade-grown arabica beans cultivated by hill-tribe families in northern Laos.
Food is great. Coffee is great. The people are great! The pancakes were nice and fluffy with an excellent chocolate sauce. Normally my sons would struggle to finish but they devoured them The bagel was delicious with kind of a tomato garnish. Delicious.

A very relaxing cafe with 2 floors. There's air conditioning at the 2nd floor. The desserts on display all looks so good. We ordered an Iced Latte, Cascara Granola Bar & Carrot Cake. The food & coffee were delicious. Would have loved to try more of their dessert menu. A great cafe to try when in Luang Prabang.
Aibi Y — Google review
Great coffee in the town! I had ice Americano and it was very refreshing and nice. I bought a bag of coffee beans which was roasted just a week before the purchase and tried on my own espresso machine once I returned to my home. It was so good, I wish I bought more. Highly recommended!
Rihyang K — Google review
Way too expensive for the quality of the food, We've heard a lot of good things about this restaurant on social media. We were very surprised to see that the prices online and in the restaurant have gone up. I ordered a ceaser salad, which came very small, with bacon, not chicken. My partner also ordered a very small sandwich, and you have to add a supplement for 4 fries. I do not recommend this cafe at all; you can find much better options for less.
Morgane V — Google review
Such a lovely place to enjoy a lazy day. Great cider & tea. Carrot cake a bit dry to my taste. Beautiful view watch the boats float by. Highly recommended for the view!
Julianne T — Google review
Excellent falafel wrap, pretty cheap for the quality (60 000kip, really generous portion). They have an upstairs room with windows on the Mekong River, nice too study or work or just have a great time. They have a nice terrace on the river as well.
Sana D — Google review
We came here after arriving in Luang by sleeper bus from Hanoi. After a total of 36 hours travel this place was exactly what we needed. We had scrambled eggs on toast which sounds simple but was honestly so delicious. Their homemade sourdough is amazing and the egg was perfectly cooked. We also tried some of their cakes, the carrot cake and banana bread were both lovely. It is also situated by the river and is a lovely place to enjoy a meal.
Hamish G — Google review
I might have expected too much because of the good reviews about the carrot cake, but it was just okay. The one with cream was sold out, but they gave me some on the side. The cake itself was a bit dry, and the cream was a firm, barely sweetened whipped cream with almost no flavor. They accept credit cards, which is convenient. Staff were polite, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the cappuccino was good.

Laotian restaurant
Asian restaurant
Tamarind is a unique establishment in Laos that serves as both a restaurant and a cooking school. Founded by an Australian woman and her Lao partner, Tamarind aims to offer visitors an exotic experience while educating them about Laotian cuisine. The restaurant sources ingredients from local suppliers, contributing to the community while introducing guests to the wonders of Lao food.
They offer very good dishes and above average hospitality. Due to budget limit, I ordered 3 dishes, fish in banana, sticky rice and sweet sticky rice with banana, mango and tamarind sauce. They all tasted good and well- cooked in new way. I would love to cook these dishes back home.
Tran — Google review
food was authentic and tasted very good, we took the bamboo soup and a set sharing menu for two of us, was all delicious. nice ambiance, and excellent service. We liked a lot the bamboo chips and the laolao rice whisky, we tried three flavors! The chilly one is great! Haha we like spicy. We preferred the table inside because there was not much to see and enjoy along the street. I definitely recommend this place. And we would come back to try also other dishes too.
Francesca Y — Google review
We went for lunch, wanted to try a little bit of everything so went with a tasting menu - some of it really good, some not for my taste. Service was excellent and the tamarind drink was definitely interesting. We liked the mango sticky rice with black rice the best
Sreelakshmi — Google review
We had a fantastic evening at Tamarind Restaurant, where we chose to try the vegan tasting menu. It was an excellent decision. The dishes were all incredibly fresh and vibrant, and it was clear that each one had been prepared with great care and attention to detail. The generous use of fresh, local herbs made every bite a delight. The entire experience was enhanced by the wonderful service. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain each dish and its traditional Laotian context. This guidance added an authentic layer to the meal, showing us not just what to eat, but how to eat it. Tamarind offers a perfect blend of authentic Laotian cuisine, high-quality ingredients, and outstanding service. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly memorable meal in Luang Prabang.

I like this restaurant and I came here 3 times during visiting Luang Prabang. The restaurant serve the traditional Laotian foods and very unique. Full of favourites and very tasty. We ordered Bamboo soup and Som moo sour pork and it was fantastic 😋 highly recommend. The only dish that I would avoided is Stir fried Basil leaf with Frog 🐸 if you don't eat a whole Frog. It was not just a Frog's legs but the whole body of Frog's with skin. The staff was so friendly and he said Laos people eat the whole Frog. We came again to try another dishes and the staff gave us a house dessert.
Curvy K — Google review
The best restaurant we visited in Luang Prabang! All the food and drink we tried (we ordered the vegan set) was absolutely delicious, an explosion of different flavours and really big portions. The service was super attentive, explained all the dishes and how to eat them. We got the impression that they really cared about bringing Laotian food culture to tourists. We also booked a cooking class with them which was a fantastic experience as well! Can only recommend❤️

If you truly want to experience authentic Lao foods and if you aren’t afraid of unusual flavors and ingredients and textures, try Tamarind. I love to experiment and explore all things new in every country I visit, so I sought out Tamarind. Be brave! Try it yourself.

Laotian restaurant
Khaiphaen is a restaurant located in Ban Wat Nong, Laos, and is part of the Tree Alliance, which is sponsored by Friends International. The restaurant's menu offers a blend of East-meets-West cuisine with dishes like buffalo steak sandwiches. Prices are mid-range and the quality of food is generally good. Additionally, Khaiphaen serves as a vocational training school for underprivileged youths who aspire to work in the hospitality industry.
Excellent concept and food! Had such a great time dining here—the flavors were memorable and the experience felt truly special. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore authentic local dishes while supporting the local community.
Sarinee V — Google review
This restaurant is tastefully renovated and exudes comfort and serenity. The menu was not extensive for local cuisine and most of the items were drinks. Ordered the 'fish & chips' cooked in the local style with fishes from Mekong River. The dish was tasty and the deep fried river weed was delicious.
CK C — Google review
The food here was excellent. I especially loved the vegetarian green curry and the fish noodle dish. Prices are surprisingly low for a restaurant of this quality. It’s a vocational training restaurant where young trainees learn hospitality, and everyone was so kind and gentle.
Ann D — Google review
A gorgeous restaurant with delicious food, excellent service and a nice ambience as the monks in the nearby temple went about their evening prayer. We had the Mekong laksa, eggplant dip and mushroom dip. All very tasty with great sized portions. Generously priced too. Absolutely recommend if you’re in Luang Prabang!
Andie D — Google review
After eating our way through Thailand and other parts of Laos over three weeks, we stumbled upon Khaiphaen. It was so good, we came back the next night too. Hands down, our favourite restaurant so far! The menu is small but everything is delicious. We especially loved the Mekong River fish, green beans and the very unique panna cotta. Beyond the food, we also loved that this is a teaching restaurant, which employs young people from underprivileged backgrounds. Noy - one of the teachers/waiters - is lovely, we spoke with him for about 15 minutes while waiting for our food. Overall, we were blown away by our experience here, cannot recommend it highly enough - six stars!
Rory A — Google review
We absolutely loved our meal here. The quality and flavours were outstanding. Special mention goes to the pandan and coconut panna cotta. Incredible value for money. You would pay top dollar for meal of this standard in other places. The restaurant itself is charming and tastefully decorated, and the staff were delightful. Highly recommended!

The best Lao restaurant in Luang Prabang. Friendly people, great price value ratio, stylish design. Fish soup is just a piece of art Or Lam - very tasty Chicken curry - also very good

We came here for lunch and it was closed for training but undeterred we came back the next day. Good decision since the food was amazing! Loved their take on fish and chips and the red curry. The juice was sooo refreshing after a walk in the Sun 🥰 And the waiters were all adorable - we had trouble giving our orders since we wanted to understand the menu but they somehow made it work ☺️

Popolo is a standout addition to Luang Prabang's dining scene, offering a welcome escape from the tourist hubbub with its beautifully designed, airy space. The menu focuses on shareable cantina fare such as artisanal cheese and dried meat platters, salads, wood-fired pizza, and locally sourced fresh burrata from Laos Buffalo Dairy.
I cannot express in words how much I enjoyed my experience here. I never thought I would have this quality of pizza in Luang Prabang in all places. The pickled apples that are included in the "French Kiss" pizza make it worth getting on anyone's bucket list. Otherwise, everything else that I ordered including appetizers and desserts were top notch. I don't normally repeat going to restaurants while going on trips but this place is a must-visit if you like pizza.
Dama D — Google review
The music and atmosphere was very nice and suited the vibe of the restaurant. The portion was large, and there was more food than we imagined. The food was delicious and affordable compared to the quality being offered.

Popolo Pizza is truly a must-visit in Luang Prabang! The pizzas are absolutely delicious — perfectly baked with a crispy crust and full of flavor. The ingredients taste fresh and high quality, and every bite feels authentic. Great Local beer in cheap price. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal even a bit hot and sweaty while a lunch. The staff are friendly and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. Definitely one of the best restaurants in town — highly recommended!
Pornphattra C — Google review
Pad Kaprao pizza was delicious. Should have asked for crispier crust but not sure if they could have accommodated because of the toppings. Place has a great vibe and good music. Lots of attentive staff.
Din — Google review
All the dishes we ordered were absolutely amazing. It was great to find high quality food and ingredients in Luang Prabang. Pizza was unique, pasta was amazing. Thanks for the great fun.
Dor H — Google review
Great service. The staff are lovely friendly and helpful and the pizza is super thin base and delicious.
Liam C — Google review
Good food, great ambience, cool and interior and great location. The pizza as well worth trying if you’re sick of noodles.
Hanne L — Google review
Super yummy! There’s absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. The food was amazing — the pasta had a fantastic flavor, and the pizza was a standout with its perfect taste and wonderfully thin crust. The fresh chili oil, made with dried chilies and garlic, was delicious and added the perfect kick to the meal. The service was excellent, with attentive staff who made the experience even better. It was also impressive that the bill was offered in multiple currencies, making things very convenient. The vibe of the restaurant was great and added to the overall experience. While the lemonade was just average, everything else was exceptional. A fantastic place to enjoy delicious food and great service!

Noodle shop
Xieng Thong Noodle is a popular food spot located near the beautiful Xieng Thong Temple in Laos. It serves a delicious bowl of khao piak sen, featuring thick rice noodles, pork, bean sprouts, and spring onion in a mild salty broth topped with crispy roasted garlic. The place is known for its authentic, cheap, and limited menu that includes noodles with pork or egg. Despite being well-known, some visitors feel it may not live up to the hype.
If you are visiting Wat Xieng Thong, do consider stopping by for a food stop. As what other reviewers have pointed out, there are only three items on the menu, ranging from 12000kip to 14000kip. This shop sells noodle soup and you can decide on your combination of pork or eggs to go with the noodles. The noodles are made of tapioca starch and are very chewy. The fried garlic also adds so much flavour to the dish. If you get the version with egg, the egg is mixed into your soup which makes it more wholesome.
Samuel S — Google review
Nice little shop, need to wait for lunch peak hour. Only one kind of noodle, with combination of pork and egg, then big/small size, very simple choice. Soup taste is pretty good though it looks not that clear; the noodle is soft, smooth. Spicy seasoning is pretty nice and the little lemon add a nice fresh to the noodle. Egg is very fresh, pork a bit too hard to bite. Worth to take a try for Lao's food.
Jenny T — Google review
Yummy noodles. The noodles are similar to the popular mouse-tail noodles but softer. The chilli paste is hot so add sparingly. Great price and the servings fill the stomach well.
Alex N — Google review
It is fifty-fifty. The price is very cheap, but the quantity of noodles is small and a little salty. The restaurant is adjacent to the main road so it is easy to find. The menu is explained in several languages, making ordering easy. You can try khao bbiyak (Lao noodle) with a pork, beef and egg. Also there is khao khop (fried sticky rice).
Jihee L — Google review
Comfort food for Asians. Menu is simple, 3 choices. There are Japanese and Korean menus, too. This bowls was only 14k. Some local people were eating here when I came 12pm, no tourists.
Meg W — Google review
Authentic, cheap and delicious. As with most good local food places in SE Asia, the menu is limited. Noodles with pork, egg, or pork and egg. Enough English is spoken there to get by, and the owners are very friendly. Cannot recommend enough.
James C — Google review
A gem off the beaten path. Even with google, it took us quite a walk to find it, but it was worth it. We had the pork with egg for 14000 kip, and the broth was nice, enhanced by the fried garlic. The short noodles were chewy, and you are given taugeh shoots and lime to top off the dish. We were the only tourists there for lunch.
Steven L — Google review

Laotian restaurant
Nestled at the end of the Luang Prabang peninsula, Xieng Thong Phonsavanh Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its unpretentious charm and stunning views of the Mekong River. This hidden gem is celebrated for its authentic Laotian cuisine, particularly the renowned jaew kee pa—a spicy fish roe dip that locals swear you can't miss.
Nice seating location overlooking the river. Great food. Ordered seafood fried rice and fried fish and coconut. The fried rice was very tasty. It took awhile for the main dish to be served but it was worth waiting. Paid in thai baht. Highly recommended!
Roldan G — Google review
The best of Laos cuisine! Perfect location by the Mekong river. You should try fish penny sauce with sticky rice. And last as well. And don't miss the Mekong seaweed crackers too!
Bahar B — Google review
Family run restaurant that serves Laotian food (beyond the usual basil stirfry, rice soup and fried rice!). We ordered Mekong Weed, Fish penny Sauce, minced fish salad, sticky rice for two people and the portion was generous and filling for 2 pax! Every dish was delicious and the price was also inexpensive. Highly recommend anyone visiting LPB to try!
Crystal S — Google review
This place is proper and was the highlight of my ventures into Luang Prabang. The dining area is a canopied row of table and chairs that sits you right next to the Mekong - uber chilling. The food is incredible. A good way to experience real Lao food. The deep fried pork ribs with garlic and lime lead is exemplary. So simple yet works so well. Fatty, umami, fragrant. Then the Lao-style papaya salad or one could argue the OG papaya salad. Flat slivers of papaya (instead of thin shreds), ba la (instead of fish sauce) and the addition of the Lao olive for phenolic flavours. Very interesting. Very balanced. We also had Jaew Kipa - fish innards and eggs with loads of aromatics. To be eaten with sticky rice. Again super interesting and resourceful. The river kelp deep fried with sesame is super umami and a great appetiser. Overall, incredible experience with great hospitality and atmosphere. 10/10

What a lovely restaurant! The minced fish salad with herbs was one of the tastiest dishes I have eaten in Luang Prabang! The cucumber salad and the fish egg dip were also very delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly! Dont miss!
Jon G — Google review
A hidden gem restaurant in Luangprabang. Located at nearly the edge of the peninsula. Serving authentic Lao food and has its own unique original menu. I recommend you to try "Jaew Kee Pla" by its name means fish poop, but it is actually fish roe cooking with herb and oil. Perfect to eat with sticky rice and vegetable. Strongly recommend for this menu which I had for dinner and makes me want to come back to eat it again the next day. Very reasonable price. Basic menu is about 2 USD and for menu with Mekong river are a little more expensive but still very reasonable.
Chananvit W — Google review
Not sure how this place only get 3 views!!! We found this one from a YouTube video, and when we got there it has a really simple menu of English weird translation on it, and there’s only 1 table local ppl eating there. Compared to most of the other river view restaurants, it’s so low key, and not busy at all. We hesitated, until we saw one local women ordered takeout, we decided to give a try. We ordered exactly what she ordered: fish soup, minced fish salad, minced fish chops. We also decided to order Papaya salad, and basil shrimp. All dishes end up to be a huge success!!!! It’s not touristy, not fancy as some restaurants of the town. But, it’s one of the best meals we had!!! They just need to do better marketing!
TT H — Google review
One of the best Luang Prabang papaya salad in Luang Prabang is here! I really like Fish Penny sauce. It made from egg fish. It’s not fishy as Thai fish sauce and not too spicy. Deep fried fish is so crispy than I expected. Love this place!

Tangor Restaurant Bar & Lounge is a popular spot in town, known for its delicious tilapia ceviche and a full cocktail repertoire. The owners have extensive experience and offer great customer service in a relaxed atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the ambiance with 60s and 70s music while savoring the delectable dishes.
Excellent restaurant for western/fusion food. Chicken satay, grilled fish, suckling pig (tastes like Chinese braised pork) and the sharing platter (had vegan foiegras which exceeded my carnivorous expectations). We had to catch the hotel shuttle bus and asked them to expedite the dinner which they very helpfully did. Kudos to Thibault and team for the excellent dinner which we all enjoyed

This is a pretty chill bar in Luang Prabang. The decorations are nicely done and give the place a cozy, laid-back vibe. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Prices are affordable, and the location is perfect—right on the same street as the night market, so it’s easy to find and convenient to stop by after exploring.

We are visiting Luang Prabang from Mexico, and I must say that the Ceviche is exactly what the other reviews describe: amazing, great, delicious, etc etc. Totally recommended. The rest of food in the menu is also delicious, prices very reasonable and the restaurant and location in one of the areas main streets. Last but not least, staff and owners provided a great service.

Perfect for people watching from the terrace. Full bar, friendly servers, and everything our group tried on the menu was enjoyed. The house specialty of ceviche was my favorite. Also the fish in the parchment paper. Very tasty.
C C — Google review
I suffered from mild food poisoning here after eating a raw burger that I ordered to be cooked medium. This probably would have been fine if they used good quality beef but given my vomiting the morning after they used cheap beef mince for their burgers and also don’t cook it for long enough.

Good food, cold beer, friendly people, excellent staff, go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy yourself. Highly recommend !!!!!!!

We stopped for a snack and had the red lentil dip which is actually a hummus and it was amazing. We also had the fried chicken appetizer that was so awesome. I figured it would just be regular batter fried chicken and it was except the flavor and texture of the batter was different than anything I’ve had. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the main dishes.

This is a chill place to hang out and watch people go about their business on the main drag. We came here often during our visit to Luang Prabang when we wanted a coke and / or a cool beer. Market
The Luang Prabang morning market is a vibrant and bustling place where local vendors sell an array of goods, including fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and handmade textiles. Visitors can immerse themselves in the cultural richness by exploring traditional Lao garments, marveling at intricate Hmong embroidery, and admiring crafts from hill tribes.
Very local and touristy market at the same time. We liked to pickup some sticky rice with some barbecue grilled meat, sausages and eat at a coffee stall right in the middle of the market. If we ever come back to Luang Prabang and stay at an Airbnb with kitchen, I’d not miss the chance to go to this fresh market and cook Lao dishes, the herbs and veggies here were just mind blowing. Things we tried and liked: mungbean cake, coconut crepe, seaweed floss with sticky rice, Lao sausage, fermented pork, some sweet dessert dipped in coconut flakes, coconut milk dessert Things we tried and didn’t like: grilled banana (too dry), bee wax (might be good as ingredient to cook but eaten just bee wax like this was…meh), croissant (curious to try but it was a no go 😂)

Strolling around and try the sticky rice, bamboo shot local curry, mixed vegetables salad Luang Prabang recipe is amazing for me. Seeing way of folk life and chit chat to them is such a lovely.

If you want a real taste of local life in Luang Prabang, you’ve got to check out the Morning Market. We went super early—around 7am—and it was the perfect way to jump-start the day. You’ll see everything from fresh produce to surprises you definitely don’t see back home (we spotted some Sapa fish split wide open and even a skinned weasel…wild stuff!).It’s mostly for locals, so you get that authentic vibe—lots of sights, smells, and a few things that will totally throw you off in a good way. We picked up some coffee and wandered the stalls for a while, and honestly, it’s a must if you want to see the real rhythm of Luang Prabang. Just bring your curiosity (and maybe skip breakfast until you get here)!

Must see if you’ve never been to a wet market without the odors of a standard wet market. With cooked food, vegetables, fruit, to freshly caught fish/birds and larvae, this is a great way to see how the locals do their shopping. Oct 2024

Very local market. Interesting to see how the local people shop for food and necessities. It is open dairy. If you have a weak stomach, pass this by.

Loved it!! We went around 6am and it was mostly locals buying fruits and vegetables. There are some prepared foods, and the spring roll we got was SO delicious. Lots of raw meats and fresh produce. Some curries, fried foods, street meat, etc. Overall a big vibe, would recommend.

Nestled in the Khemkhong area of Old Town Luang Prabang, The Belle Rive Boutique Hotel exudes French colonial charm with its three beautifully restored heritage buildings overlooking the Mekong River. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a colonial style, featuring large four-poster beds and Lao textile accents. Guests can easily access the main road and the vibrant Luang Prabang night market within a short walk.
We stayed two nights and really liked there. The room was quite comfortable, clean and quiet. It was perfect for a relaxing time. The staff were friendly and attentive. The cruise tour was free with compliment drink. To be honest, I didn’t expect that much, it was amazing to chat with staff and other passengers in nature. Nice gift from my hubby for White Day. Portable water bottles, natural mosquito repellent etc were well-prepared. You can find out that they are committed to improving the environment. And mini bar (juice, beer and water) are all free. Highly recommend this hotel. Hope we will back soon and stay longer.

Great location, right on the river and easy to walk onto the Main Street. Just around the corner to the offerings to the monks. Hotel helped with arranging food and accessories to take. Breakfast is on the terrace overlooking the river. Great pastries and bread. Excellent service. Highly recommend!

Great location Mekong River front, close to mountain Poulsi, Royal Palace, Luang Prabang National Museum, night market, morning Market and several temples. Many good restaurants, shops, massage spas and laundry places all within walking distance. Nice breakfast at Mekong River side. Deluxe room spacious, quiet, comfortable, had River view. Comfortable bed. Very nice, helpful and friendly staff. Sunset Cruise was complimentary and was great. Will definitely stay here again. No TV in the room but can be requested.
Dineshkant P — Google review
I was a bit confused of this place by the photos, but booked it due to the good reviews. Basically it's less of a hotel, and more so a collection of buildings on a street that presumably were converted to have hotel rooms. It appears most (possibly all?) rooms are facing the street, and have Mekong River views. It's only a two lane road with relatively low speeds, so not a huge deal. And in a weird way it kind of works, as it makes it more feel like you are in a town vs. a resort. Since it was low season, they double upgraded us from their base terrace to a balcony room. I always appreciate this a lot of hotels will only upgrade if your room is unavailable, or only do it if you have status. The room truly was nice- rustic styled but actually felt new and clean. Much better in person than in the photos. It was too humid to sit on the balcony without fans, but still the views from inside were fantastic. The included minibar was a nice touch. You get two beers included in your stay, and then housekeeping will refresh it with soft drinks throughout your stace. They don't advertise it on 3rd party booking sites (making me think it was a direct booking offer) , but they did also give me a free river cruise for my stay (including one drink). The hotel also provides bikes, and even ebikes for free. I highly recommend taking the ebikes accross the ferry and just riding on the other side. Really nice views, and the ebikes make the hills easy. The hotel has a restaurant accross the street that is river front. I think this is the main draw of the hotel, as you can have included breakfast every morning looking at the Mekong. I was a bit confused on what unlimited all day breakfast means from reading reviews so here's specifically what it is: Once per a day when the restaurant is open, you can order from their breakast menu (attached) at their restaurant. You can order as much as you like while seated, but you can't leave and then come back. The breakfast was good, and it's unique to have full table service. if you compare it to the massive breakfast buffets served in southeast asia by hotels in this price range, the options are more limited but that's a very high bar. In general I found the Laos food at their restaurant for breaskfast and dinner bland, but the western breakfast options were good. Especially the croissants. Note a few caveats for low season right now - the river lounge area is gone. presumably they will reopen it once it's no longer at risk by the water. - Despite reviewers metioning it, they do not do turndown service when the hotel is at low capacity. They don't technically advertise turndown and the hotel isn't in the price range where you would normally see turndown so you can't be too mad. The location is decent. You are maybe a 5 minute walk to the center of Laos "nightlife", and then a 10 minute walk to the market. Definately book here if you want to be by the river.
Elon D — Google review
Such a lovely place with lovely, kind staff. The rooms are clean and traditional with wooden furniture and authentic decor. Right by the Mekong River, the rooms are across a small, one lane road and the restaurant is directly by the river. It is walking distance to the night market and shops. Very good coffee too. From Saffron coffee. Really good. It is not silent but if you're from a big city, it is very quiet and peaceful. If you're from a small town with no noise, you can hear the occasional motorbike and you can hear your neighbor a bit. It has a tranquil vibe.
R — Google review
Wow blown away by this hotel and the service. Room was spacious, clean and well equipped, staff are kind and accommodating. Location is extremely convenient and all heritage attractions are walkable from the hotel. The view of the Mekong river was amazing and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely come back. 100% recommended to any first time Luang Prabang visitors, they truly make this place feel like a hidden gem 🤩

We absolutely loved this place. The buildings are beautiful French colonial buildings right on the river. Our room was massive with a gorgeous sitting area, four poster bed with mosquito netting, desk, beautiful old hardwood floors and authentic antique touches like the huge wooden closet. AC was superb. Our windows opened right out onto a fantastic river view! There are so many things included in your room price. Breakfast was amazing (and included) at the riverside restaurant - build your own- we had lattes, toast and homemade jams, eggs to order, bacon, fruit plate and incredible chocolate croissants. We also loved the free sunset cruise (free drink each). Through the hotel we arranged our own boat trip to PAC Ou Cave and we arranged for our laundry to be done, and for a driver to Nong Khiaw. The staff are so kind and friendly!!! There are so many nice touches, such as unlimited water in environmentally friendly glass bottles, complimentary drinks in the fridge, umbrellas to use, newspapers.... we felt pampered and surrounded by beauty. You will be so glad you stayed here.

Flea & Street Markets
Luang Prabang Night Market is a vibrant and bustling hub of local culture, offering an array of remarkable handicrafts and traditional Lao garments. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry as they browse through finely woven textiles, intricate wooden creations, authentic pottery, delicate silver jewellery, and vibrant silk scarves. The market also boasts a variety of delectable street foods and local specialties like the renowned Luang Prabang sausage.
Prices for the same items are nearly the exact same at all the shops. Items aren’t all that expensive so you could bargain if you are really short on cash, but otherwise it’s good to help the locals, it’s all relatively inexpensive anyways. It’s a good night market for souvenir hunting. Shirts, handmade goods, local food and whiskey. Many options to choose from
B — Google review
The market is nice and clean. Nobody was forcing me to buy stuff from them. So even if i am just looking they are ok with that. Which is the best thing trust me. Mostly there are crafts and local things you can buy from here. A good place to spend your evenings. Lots of cafes and bars to enjoy dinner
Deepti G — Google review
So much to look at. Many beautiful handmade items to buy. Or just for a walk and soak up the atmosphere. The food court had many options. Locd everything about Luang Prabang and the people
Saint — Google review
Certainly! The Luang Prabang Night Market is one of the highlights of any visit to this charming UNESCO town. Every evening, the main street transforms into a lively and colorful walking street filled with hundreds of stalls selling handcrafted goods, delicious local food, and unique souvenirs. What makes this market special is its laid-back atmosphere and strong focus on local culture. Many of the vendors are artisans from nearby villages, offering beautiful handwoven textiles, traditional wood carvings, and silver jewelry. It’s a great place to find authentic Lao crafts while supporting local communities. The food section is a real treat — tucked away in a side alley, you’ll find an array of affordable and tasty Lao dishes like grilled meats, noodle soups, fresh spring rolls, and tropical fruit smoothies. Everything is cooked fresh, and the variety is impressive. The market is well-organized, clean, and easy to walk through. It’s not overwhelming like some markets in Southeast Asia, which makes the experience more enjoyable. Prices are reasonable, and friendly bargaining is welcomed. Overall, the Luang Prabang Night Market is more than just a place to shop — it’s a vibrant cultural experience. Whether you’re looking for a unique gift, trying street food, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, this market captures the soul of Luang Prabang beautifully. Highly recommended for: ✔️ Cultural lovers ✔️ Foodies ✔️ Anyone who enjoys browsing local markets in a relaxed, friendly setting
Savon V — Google review
Plenty of food options and lots of cute stalls to explore. Some items in the crafts market may feel a bit overpriced, but considering the craftsmanship and effort from local artisans, it feels fair and well worth supporting.

I liked the night market visually, nicely lit and quite long. I would have appreciated the food the most, because the products did not impress me much. T-shirts with elephant outfits and small wallets for documents. But overall a nice atmosphere. Anyone who visits this city should take a walk here

Le Cafe/Bistro Ban Vat Sene is a colonial-style cafe located near the main Sisavangvong Road in Luang Prabang. It is associated with the upscale LElephant restaurant and offers a posh, European open-air dining room where guests can enjoy French, Western, and Lao dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We loved this cafe. Great place for a late brunch/lunch. I had a set menu with coffee, salad and fish with rice. The food was delicious. We also ordered a croissant which was superb. A very cozy, clean cafe to sit and watch the streets. I highly recommend this chilled place with great food and kind waiters. It is also super clean, but most of all, the food was delicious

Cafe Ban Vat Sene is a charming spot in the heart of Luang Prabang, offering a cozy, laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing or people-watching. The location is ideal, right on the main street, and the cafe itself has a nice mix of local charm with comfortable seating. The menu includes both Lao and Western dishes, so there’s something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a local specialty or a Western comfort dish. While the food is a bit on the pricey side for Luang Prabang, the quality and ambiance make it worth a visit. A great spot to take a break, sip a coffee, and enjoy the surroundings!

Top brunch spot, the Feta and Bacon baguette was incredible. I didn’t realise I was craving it until I’d had it! The crunchy baguette and soft bread rolls were a real treat, as it can be difficult to find the style of bread we’re used to. Only problem is it’s our last day in Luang Prabang so we won’t get to return tomorrow:)

Laos has the unique taste of French culture infused within the city streets. It permeates in all of the architecture, a large number of tourist and of course all things culinary. We broke away from our routine search of Thai and Laotian this evening and opted to try one of the French bistros along the Sakarine road. We just so happened to stop at Ban Vat Sene and we’re very pleased with our choice. My girlfriend was craving a little something closer to home so she ordered the spaghetti bolognese and a small Neapolitan pizza, and I ordered pho with chicken as well as duck and yellow noodle. All the dishes were prepared and plated beautifully. Everything tasted amazing and felt fresh. We were fortunate enough to have a seat on the walkway itself, enabling us to soak up all the street action while enjoying every bite. The staff and service were top notch and for four dishes and waters, our total was less than 24 dollars Canadian, which I still can’t wrap my head around. It almost feels criminal to eat such high quality at such a low price. Please go support, you will not regret it! To Alex, thank you for seating us and tending to us so graciously. Wishing you all the success in your education and your future. Much love!

We came here a second time after lunch just to try their desserts and baguette. The food is really good but can be pricey for South east Asia. I thought it was worth it just for the food alone. The baguette are freshly baked and insanely delicious, the baguette alone gets 5 stars. Desserts and the garlic baguette were pretty good as well.

Le Cafe Ban Vat Sene is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Laos (very close to Wat Sensoukharam (Ban Vat Sene temple)), offering a unique twist on Italian cuisine that pleasantly surprises the taste buds. After a long morning exploring the city, we stepped into the cozy ambiance of Le Cafe Ban Vat Sene where we were greeted warmly by the staff and comfortably seated at a table close to the bar/kitchen. Our party of 8, opted for the set menu consisting of our choice of: Salada Oceane: Tuna, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Onion and Black Olives followed by a choice between Spaghetti a la Carbonara or Lasagne de Boeuf (Beef Lasagna) followed by a choice between Slade de Fruits Frais (fresh fruit salad) or Sorbet au citron vert (lime sorbet). The carbonara dish combined the creamy richness of traditional carbonara with the aromatic flavors of Laotian spices and herbs. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the sauce was velvety smooth, with pieces of crispy pork belly adding a delightful crunch. Overall, dining at Le Cafe Ban Vat Sene was a delightful surprise from the attentive and efficient service to the inviting ambiance and delicious cuisine make it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the culinary diversity of Laos.

Two Little Birds Cafe is a charming vegan eatery in Luang Prabang, run by a local family and surviving the pandemic. The menu features fresh, vegan-friendly dishes like smoothie bowls, vegetable curries, and traditional Lao coffee. Located behind Dao Coffee near Amantaka Hotel, this family-owned establishment offers friendly service and fair prices. Visitors can enjoy delicious food that can be made vegan or vegetarian by default.
Visited this cafe twice and had a great experience both times. The smoothie bowls are the best I've had and I love that the full menu is vegetarian. I'm not veggie, but used this cafe as an opportunity to get more nutrients in while travelling. Highly recommend - quality food and service! ♥️

This place is okay, we just wanted a couple of smoothie bowls and had been recommended to come here. The service wasn’t great for us, felt like we’d been forgotten about - the owner apologised as he thought we’d already ordered. Then I had to ask again for the water we ordered (not the end of the world!) The smoothie bowls were very nice and pretty filling which is what we needed, also presented nicely.

Pretty good experience here, the fruit bowl is very refreshing. However, I would say a little more fruit and less yogurt is better. Service is friendly and the staff speak good English. Understandable because this place is crowded with tourist, especially those from the West.

The berry smoothie bowl never disappoints. Fresh fruit, yogurt, and berries, sweet, refreshing, and fresh in every bite. So good. Highly recommended.
B.S. K — Google review
Two Little Birds Caffe felt like it was run by a mad scientist who hates fruit. The drinks? Imagine if someone poured you a thimble of juice, buried it in an iceberg, and then drowned it with fizzy water. Voilà, disappointment in a glass. Calling it “refreshing” would be like calling a hangover “a spiritual awakening.” I just wanted actual juice, not a chemistry experiment. The bowls at least tried to save the day. They looked decent and tasted okay, but some of the promised ingredients clearly got lost on their way from the kitchen to the table. Menu says one thing, bowl says “nah.” It wasn’t bad, but it felt like someone photocopied a salad and gave me the grayscale version. Verdict: you won’t leave angry, but you also won’t leave inspired. 3/5.

Laotian restaurant
When in Luang Prabang, one must try the unique Khao Soi noodle soup, which differs from the Chiang Mai version. Served with clear stock and topped with chili and fermented soybean paste, it boasts a bright red hue. Despite not being highly recommended, Sackarinh Guest House offers delicious and affordable Khao Soi.
Quite possibly the best Khao Soi I tried in my month in Laos, well balanced and full of flavour with nice noodles cooked well to the bite. Its a small family run shop with super friendly owners but with limited seating and serves only from 7:30 - 12:00pm, so be sure to arrive early before they run out.

Outstanding chicken and broth noodles with blood cubes - served with fresh bean sprout and lemon slices. Maybe the best I have had since my Javanese wandering days - I would return to the city for the noodles alone

Khao Soi is a must-try dish for anyone visiting the city. It’s a great way to experience local flavors that differ from the more commonly known Thai version of the dish. Whether you're a foodie on a mission to explore Lao cuisine or just a traveler looking for a tasty meal, Khao Soi in Luang Prabang is sure to leave a unique impression.

Great little noodle shop that serves pork khao soi noodles from early morning until they run out. The best part is the bowl of delicious vegetables and herbs that accompany the main dish itself. Mix with locals and visitors and make new friends.

The khao soi was excellent. It was a generous portion with a large side of vegetables. It’s quite different than the northern Thai equivalent but just as tasty. I also loved the road side setting. Highly reccomended!

Super good Khao Soy and Beef noodle soup. Tried the Khao Soy and it has a great depth of flavor. My kids had the beef noodle soup and we all want to eat it again for breakfast tomorrow.
Kelly C — Google review
This is the famous khao soi noodle in Luang Prabang. The menu is simple, just noodle soup and khao soi both at a whopping 20,000Kip per bowl. From that price you know that tourists had a role to play the prices. 20K is actually quite extravagant for a sidewalk Al fresco noodle shop. I ordered the Khao Soi (best place to sit is right in front of her) and I liked it. I didn't like the price but I felt it justified a quarter of what the dish satisfied in me. Pork broth with bolognese of fatty pork with flat rice noodles. A satisfying meal nonetheless and because every tourist blogs about it. They always almost sell out at 11am. So try to be there early. You can recognise the shop just further down from Scandinavian Bakery, and recognise them by the 3 black cauldrons smouldering in hot coals. Happy Travels.

Place is empty and dusty. Got a feel of "about to be foreclosed". The only open stores are for textiles and some antiques. Those are the stores at the edge of the market. The inside ones are all closed.

Good. Most can't speak English. But can manage. Cheap. Not crowded. I can recommend.

Tasty food. Chill atmosphere. Lots to buy as there's a great selection of stalls.

A random collection of shops most which were closed. A range of items not necessarily blending in one space. The actual situation did not meet expectations or the hype.

Cafe
Pasaniyom Traditional Café is a renowned breakfast spot located near Luang Prabang's Morning Market, drawing crowds with its delicious rice soups and traditional Laos coffees. The menu features Luang Prabang-style porridge with pork ribs, shiitake, dry shrimp, and dry squid, as well as beef noodle (khao piek) and paatongko (fried bread). The café offers a picturesque riverfront view but has received mixed reviews on cleanliness.
Awesome Lao style breakfast. We came here for the porridge at around 9.30 am but they had no more. We had the rice noodle anyway and it was amazing with distinct local flavors. We came back earlier the next day. The lady recognized us and gave us the porridge, but to be honest, I kinda preferred the rice noodle haha. Still that speaks a lot about their hospitality and great customer service. It’s super cheap and great value for money.
Bobby K — Google review
The town's most well-known Lao breakfast. We got up early only to sample their porridge, which was packed with a lot of pork and egg and was particularly delicious if you paired it with long stick bread and added additional chilli. They also have excellent old-fashioned phin coffee. My friend stated it was okay for them, but I thought it was a little too sweet. Due of their large customer base, the service was a little slow.
Tuy C — Google review
Nice breakfast option in Luang Prabang. The pork porridge is quite tasty with generous pork meat. Add soft boiled egg and dough fritter as add on, it was an excellent breakfast to start the day. There is an option for sitting in the riverbank.

Great authentic Lao noodles. Full of flavor and texture, friendly and helpful staff, I appreciate the hard work the girls do, excellent job 🙏🏻

It was ok. But I expect more by the good reviews. It's fine, I mean, just like other little places around here, you know. Many tourists! I skipped the peak hours, though the staff forgot things....

Fast, tasty. Some speak English and Chinese. We had porridge and noodles. They ask you if you a want an egg.
Marina C — Google review
A breakfast restaurant is located in front of the Mekong river I really recommend noodle soup chicken what is full flavor and good hot soup. We also added Fried dough stick (PatongKo) in the soup and made different combination ☺️ There’s mass clients in the morning. It took a long time to wait a few minutes

The famous breakfast to brunch shop in Luang Prabang. Located near morning market. Riverfront. This place has not so many menus. The highlight dishes are Luang Prabang’s style porridge with pork ribs, shiitake, dry shrimp, and dry squid so flavorful and others is beef noodle (khao piek). We also order paatongko (fried bread), soft boiled eeg, and local coffee which also perfect for the morning. Despite the good river view table. Cleanliness of the place I’d rate 2/5. Service 4/5. Price is cheap.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Luang Prabang's Night Market, Ajam Mora Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that strikes a balance between casual and slightly formal. This charming eatery serves an array of dishes, from flavorful stir-fries and spring rolls to comforting noodle soups, whole baked fish, curries, and fresh vegetables. One standout dish is their fried rice with pork topped with a perfectly crispy fried egg—an absolute treat!
Pork topped rice noodles and Coca-Cola, rice noodles that are easily eaten in Southeast Asia, but it is not easy to find a place that makes rice noodles that delicious. A good restaurant in an alley of a market. Wide rice noodles in a broth with plenty of chicken, and various herbs added. It is a truly Southeast Asian style rice noodle. Recommended.
B.S. K — Google review
Decided to try this place for dinner based on the excellent reviews and the availability of both fish and tofu dishes on the menu. None of the fish options were available at dinner time (6pm). We ended up ordering spicy papaya salad, spring rolls, and yellow noodles with tofu, and a can of sprite. The drink was not brought to the table - I had to help myself to the fridge myself. We waited for over 45 minutes for the first dish (salad) to arrive. It did not live up to my expectations as the vegetables were sliced very coarsely and there were a few inedible ingredients there (skins and pits of fruit and veg). When the rest of the dishes arrived after over an hour of waiting, they tasted good and the portions were sizable but it was a far cry from excellent, like other reviews had us believe. The dishes were extremely good value for money and I think this is the main draw but if you do decide to try this establishment, do prepare yourself to wait a long time.
Marta R — Google review
Great, cheap food but you have to wait a long time for your meal. I recommend this place despite this, but just so people are aware it seems that they cook the dishes individually and I think they only have a couple of woks. This just means you have to wait a little longer than usual. In my opinion, it is worth the wait though because it’s cheap and I know I’m not just getting reheated pre-made food.
A — Google review
True hidden gem in Luang Prabang! The food felt so authentic and carried that comforting, home-made touch you can rarely find when traveling. Every dish was prepared with care, full of rich flavors that brought out the essence of Lao cuisine. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it feel like you were being hosted by family rather than dining in a restaurant. If you’re looking for a genuine taste of local food with heart and authenticity, Ajam Mora is an absolute must-visit.
Avinash J — Google review
The place is run by a local lovly family. The food is super delicious. The prices are the best in town, super affordable. Big portions. The service is good, and sometimes, it is a long waiting time for the food. It's better to come at dead hours. They speak little English. Great local market atmosphere.
Ariel O — Google review
For me this is the best value restaurant in the city. Dont expect a great atmosphere or nothing fancy, its just a local shop run by an old sweet lady that has super good food for super cheap prices, and the best for me is that they cater for vegetarians too. This is a must try if you are visiting. Authentic flavours and the best bang for your buck
Federico R — Google review
I think it's really special when places exist that can be supported by both locals and tourists instead of places that are built just to support tourists. Yes, all the stands in the night market for court count as well but this feels so much more accessible. When we were there, there were entire families sitting down to eat and talking with the staff. We had the Khao soy and a basil chicken stir fry. Both were excellent and some of the best food we had in Luang Prabang in our few days there. I really hope to make it back here in the future.
Rishabh P — Google review
We certainly agree with others that the food here is very good; generous portions for a very fair, “local” price. The service, however, was a real challenge. The person waiting tables seemed indifferent (maybe a bad day?) and re-defined the word languid. We asked if a glass of ice was available for our Coke Zero and were told yes. But no glass or ice showed up, and to be honest the women was so unapproachable we didn’t press the issue. There was only one person in the kitchen so food came out one dish at a time. We waited a long time for our food and while that’s not the end of the world be aware of this if you’re hungry or on a tight schedule. The food, however, was amazing. The Curry Rice with Tofu was done very much in the Japanese style. Great, fresh rice and rich, delicious curry really made this dish special (the small side broth was extra delicious!). The Rice Vermicelli Soup with Chicken was fabulous as well. Huge portion with a delicious broth. All in the two dishes and one Coke Zero set us back all of Kip 75K (Cdn $5). Fantastic value for money. Recommended.

Laotian restaurant
Lao Lao Garden Restaurant is a popular spot in Luang Prabang, managed by a well-known local LGBTQ+ individual. The restaurant offers affordable menu options for budget travelers, including fried rice, noodles, noodle soup, and more. Additionally, it features a massive beer garden with plenty of outdoor seating and an unofficial gay bar with an outdoor terrace and stage for cabaret shows.
Spent 140,000 for a unique dinner they called Lao Barbque. There was a hidden grill inside our table that the waiter used to prepare our barbque consisting of soup with vegetables. Meat cooked on top of the metallic grill so their oils and juices add flavor to the soup. This restaurant is located in a busy street where a lot of bars and restaurants are located. We thought it was a small place but we were surprised when we were guided to a bigger garden where the barbque-tables are situated.
Maya B — Google review
I love this place. The food is incredibly tasty and plentiful(!), the drink specials are great, and the atmosphere is unlike any other--especially at night. The restaurant has a social-romantic vibe, and the servers are very kind. I hardly ever take the time to write reviews but this place absolutely deserves it
Patrick S — Google review
Only tried the cocktails there: sweet and unbalanced. Not to my taste. If you like alcopops this might be for you. At night the surrounding in the garden looks quite appealing, thought.
Rubino G — Google review
LaoLaoGarden is a totally atypical bar that bears its name because it gives you the feeling of immersing yourself in a garden at the entrance. Very nice, even the toilet! The atmosphere is sypathic with free tabe of pools. The employees and the boss are very smiling. The price of drinks is standard. I would definitely come here again.
Fredo — Google review
Pleasant place in the evening, with good music. Restaurant with bar on the street side and nice garden in the back. There is a snooker table too.
Pierre T — Google review
Location has changed! It is just around the corner, but don't give up when it isn't where some of the maps still have it. This place is FANTASTIC! I definitely wouldn't call it a "gay" place, but the music was upbeat and fun, the drinks were inexpensive and, though of course not very strong, very tasty. Mostly permanent expats here from all over the world, but the bartenders are very friendly, drink with everyone, and become part of the fun rather than just staying coldly behind the bar serving drinks. A fun vibe with multiple outdoor and indoor areas. Besides the main bar area up front where most of the loud action and socializing happens, there was a pool table inside, a dance area, and tons of quieter outdoor seating with tables and beautiful decorative lighting. Clean bathrooms as well. The owner has really built this place by himself over many years. He has gone through a lot of struggle being one of the only "gay" establishments in the area and being forced to move locations. Keep this place open :)
Brian T — Google review
The place is very average in regards to service and food and needs a deeps clean in places, 2 of the places we sat at had cobwebs where they would put a hotplate. The wait staff are friendly but some struggle to understand you which I appreciate since English isn't their native language. One of the things we ordered was forgotten and had to reordered. We also showed up the next day for drinks as its meant to be one of the only gay friendly bars and was turned away because they had decided to close over an hour early, it wasn't even 10.30 and two other customers were being turned away at the same time.
Joseph A — Google review
The ambiance here is great. The garden in the back is super funky and has pretty lighting. The food is so-so but what was wicked were the mosquitos! Obviously the restaurant can’t help the fact that there are bugs, but there are no coils or candles and one bottle of spray for everyone. As much as I wanted to return i couldn’t handle getting eaten alive!

Chaleunphone restaurant in Luang Prabang offers a variety of healthy Lao Thai dishes such as rice-based meals, soups, and pan-fried noodles. The family-owned establishment is known for its delicious food with a homemade touch, attracting repeat visitors who appreciate the fresh and soulful flavors. While the service may be slow during busy times, the authentic taste of the traditional spicy, sweet, and salty dishes makes it worth the wait.
A small mom and pop place that looks like it's run by a husband, wife, and kids. The food is delicious! It was the only place I went back 3 times during my vacation in Southeast Asia. The food had soul, and it was fresh. Yes, it is a bit slow when it's busy, but it's worth it. I had the Pad Thai (better than the ones I had in Bangkok), green and yellow curry. I ate every morsel and wanted more!

You can enjoy local food at a reasonable price. The restaurant is small and there is no air conditioning so it could be hot. The chef prepares food cleanly.

Good food at a great value. We got two rices dishes and one noodle soup for 45k. The dishes we ordered were able to be made vegetarian. Def recommend for budget eating 👍🏽
Lora M — Google review
The food tastes delicious and the prices are really low. It's a homely restaurant with a small kitchen, run by very nice elderly people, in the evenings all the seats are often taken so the waiting time for food can get much longer. If you expect to be served to European standards for $2-3 and get your meal after 10 minutes this is simply not the place for you.
Szymon K — Google review
Everything here is excellent. Ate here several times during my stay in Luang Prabang. Today I had drunken noodles and then ordered the spicy coconut curry on chef's recommendation. Your food may take a while if its busy but that just means you know its all freshly prepared. Great spot to eat.

Sada Hotel is a charming gem in Luang Prabang, Laos, offering stylish and casual quarters. The hotel features an outdoor pool and a refined eatery with open-air seating, providing a tranquil and spiritual atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the lovely experience with friendly staff, amazing owners, comfortable poolside lounging by the stunning koi pond, and uncomplicated transfers. While the hotel is not centrally located, it offers free access to bicycles for exploring the nearby main night bazaar.
Lovely room, super large comfy bed, balcony. Large tub with hand shower, very clean. Nice garden. Good restaurant, cooked to your spcs, lao or western food. Great pool. Close to grocery stores. Nothing to complain about.

I was actually on the fence about giving this place 3 or 4 stars, however, several things made me give them a 3 star review. Primarily, when we initially checked in, there were probably 100 mosquitoes in the room, and the room did not have hot water. The gym did not have the air conditioning turned on, however it was quite nice. It seemed as though there would be a free airport shuttle, which ended up costing us $12 which we were told after the fact. This seemed peculiar as there are free pick-ups and drop-offs from the night market, which is farther than the airport. The breakfast was also average. Overall, a good hotel, however the location is not perfect. The breakfast is average. You can't have no hot water, no working shower and enough mosquitoes to bleed an elephant dry and contend to be elite.
Alexander L — Google review
The hotel features a garden space, spacious rooms, and is located on a major thoroughfare where many monks pass by for alms in the morning. It offers complimentary bicycle rentals and two free bottles of water in the room. Breakfast is quite average and not very appealing. What I found disappointing were the additional services, such as the alms-giving items sold in front of the hotel at a rather high price (60,000 LAK for a box of sticky rice and cakes, with continuous additions leading to a total cost of over 600,000 LAK), or the minivan booking to the train station quoted at 390,000 LAK compared to the usual price of just 300,000 (the transportation service was provided by a third paảty, not operated by the hotel itself)

Nestled at the tip of the peninsula in Luang Prabang's UNESCO World Heritage Old Town, Mekong Riverview Hotel boasts a prime riverside location with stunning views of the merging Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. This colonial-style hotel offers elegantly decorated rooms with tropical accents, complemented by free shuttle services and complimentary bicycles for exploring downtown attractions.
If your diet revolves around KFC or Burger King, whether at home or abroad, then Luang Prabang might not be the ideal destination for you. You won't find water parks or jet skis here either. However, for those seeking to escape fast food and a fast-paced lifestyle, the Mekong Riverview Hotel is the perfect retreat. Situated at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers, within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Luang Prabang, this hotel offers an ideal getaway. During our four-night stay, the Mekong Riverview Hotel exceeded all of our expectations, surpassing even the glowing online reviews and YouTube videos. The décor of our room harmonized beautifully with the historical charm of the surroundings. With a rain shower, spa bath, and a wrap-around balcony, we spent hours simply sitting and enjoying the uninterrupted solitude we sought. Given its location, the hotel provides transportation to the busier part of Luang Prabang. For the more energetic, complimentary bicycles are available. Breakfast is included, and the restaurant is located across the street on the bank of the Nam Khan River. As the fog lifts from the hilltops across the Mekong, you can savor a delightful bowl of local rice soup. As you may have gathered from this review, the Mekong Riverview Hotel has left a lasting impression on us, and we highly recommend you experience it for yourself.

Lovely room in authentic Lao style with balcony overlooking Mekong River. Staff very friendly and helpful. Short walk to central area but lots to see near hotel. Only small criticism is the low water pressure in the shower but not a major issue. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel and well located. The rooms are spacious. The service is not always very good though. The breakfast is good with a nice view on the mekong but they should renew a little what you can eat (for people like us who stayed for several days).

Nice location, Deluxe rooms are upstairs and have a nice bacony with a nice view on the Mékong river. Rooms are clean but very noisy, particularly when the staff start his cleaning at 8am. Don't intend to sleep late! Their restaurant, the View Point is absolutely not good, this will include your breakfast treat, even if you paid for breakfast with the room, I would suggest you just go somewhere else to enjoy a proper breakfast. Unless you fancy oil, salt and sugar very much.

Awesome hotel a short stroll from tons of good restaurants, night market, and boat dock! They even have some free bikes that you can use to get around town when you get tired of walking. Had a small issue with the shower head in my room; instead of waiting on maintenance guy, they immediately switched us to a different room, much nicer one too, and did it at no extra charge! Staff was incredible and very helpful when we had any questions. We will definitely be back at the Mekong Riverview next time we are in Luang Prabang!

Stayed here for 2 nights in August 2022. The hotel overlooks the Mekong river. Rooms were large and spacious, slightly old. Room had a large balcony. The restaurant- viewpoint cafe - had spectacular views of the Mekong and Nam kham rivers. Staff was friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The breakfast spread was quite narrow and had very few vegetarian options.

We sincerely loved our stay at the Mekong Riverview Hotel. The staff was fantastic, and we really appreciated the room upgrade upon arrival. The balcony out front was a fantastic place to read and watch the Mekong flow by, and the restaurant had spectacular views as well in addition to great food. We will be back.

We stayed at the hotel as part of our honeymoon trip. The advantages - the central location, the spectacular view of the confluence of the rivers, the kind and dedicated staff, free bicycles to get around the city, the most delicious banana-pineapple-mango shake! The disadvantages - poor breakfast without variety, we found ants in the minibar in our room and sometimes in the bed. But overall a beautiful hotel and great service.

If you're wandering through Luang Prabang and find yourself craving a comforting bowl of noodle soup, look no further than the Noodle Soup Night Market. Nestled next to a bustling junction, this unassuming eatery is a treasure trove of Laotian flavors. While it may not have an official name, it's renowned for its homemade dishes that include crispy pork noodles and classic favorites like fried rice and laap.
It is a small restaurant that only opens together with the night market hours. They offer 3 main dishes (you can see other photos in my review for 2 of them). And it takes 40,000 kip for one bowl. The soup is good. I strongly suggest rice noodles soup as it has more toppings than the other one.
Hoài V — Google review
Dec 24 We ordered rice noodle soup and noodle soup with minced pork sauce. The noodle soup with minced pork sauce came with flat rice noodle. It didn’t feel like there was meat inside except for some minced pork. The soup was tasty. The price for each bowl was 40.000 kip. The price in another review of this shop was 30.000 kip a year ago. That was a big price jump for a year. That’s the price to be in tourist area I guess. Still worth a try.
Harry N — Google review
Tried the vegetarian soup. Asked for no meat, only vegetables. The soup was good, but ok. For the price of 50k it was a bit too expensive.

It’s not bad although overpriced for sure at 20000. You can find other restaurants and cafes that’ll sell for 12-15000 next street over for the same quality n quantity.

Cheap and tasty pho and kao soi, with fresh veggies and noodles. I paid 30,000 Kip for a bowl which seemed reasonable for a tourist price. Nothing out of this world, but tasty and filling and the people serving are friendly. Surrounding night market gives it a nice atmosphere. Note that kao soi in Laos isn’t spicy and not like Thai kao soi with the crispy noodles
Brigid F — Google review
The shop is around the night market along the main street. I had their Khao Soy noodle which is a spicy noodle soup and it was delicious. Throw in basil, lettuce and some lime juice for extra flavour. They also have chilli on the side if you want it hotter. The cost is at 20,000kip (around usd2.50). Cheap good street food.

Really nice local noodle soup restaurant. The owners don’t speak much English but the food is amazing and the restaurant is clean. The menu is in Lao and English and the translation is pretty good. I tried a few dishes but recommends the crispy pork with yellow noodles. Meals were around 25,000 - 35,000 kip

We came here at about 2am after we’d been bowling as it was the only food place open near our hostel. After about 10 minutes of trying to order food (lots of dishes out of stock & language barrier), we each got a bowl of pork noodle soup. Tasted unbelievable!! Highly recommend coming here, the broth was unreal. So affordable too - we payed 35,000lak each and it was a good portion size!

Laotian restaurant
Khao Soi ban Wat Sen (ເຂົ້າຊອຍ ປ້າ ດ໋ອກ) is a delightful culinary gem in Luang Prabang, where you can savor the authentic flavors of Lao cuisine. This charming spot serves up Khao Soy, a traditional noodle soup that showcases flat rice noodles swimming in a rich and spicy broth.
I went early in the morning at 7:00 to eat Kaho soi. I have to say that it is the best dish of my Laos trip. It is a simple dish, but simple dish are harder to make it perfect, and yet i think she did just that. While I was enjoying the dish, she started frying crispy pork for later time service, and I know that I will come to this place again.

Pa Dock's place is a small locally breakfast, she serves Khao Soy a typical Luang Pra Bang noodle soup, Khao Poon Nam PA a rice vermicelli noodle with caramelize fish sauce and beef soup. The taste is just awesome. I dropped by every times I came to Luangprabang

The soup (Kao Soi) was fantastic in its simplicity. I also enjoyed the fresh herbs. I‘ll definitely come again.

Good location, pleasant stuff and, first of all, very tasty meals for an affordable price.

It seems to be a soup made with octopus and shrimp. The flavor is similar to Bun Mam from Vietnam, yet distinctly different.

Their Khao Poon was delicious, quick, cost-effective, and awesome!

V Maison Boutique Hotel is a newly established gem in Luang Prabang, strategically located in the heart of the city. Situated just a minute's walk from the renowned Popolo pizza and three minutes from the alms offering route, it offers convenience and accessibility to popular attractions. The hotel boasts modern amenities and a prime location, making it an ideal choice for travelers seeking comfort and proximity to local hotspots.
Perfect location , amazing staff, beautiful boutique accommodation in Luang Prabang.
David A — Google review
We loved our stay at the V maison boutique hotel. The location is ideal as a few steps away from the Main Street and the river boasting with restaurants and bars. The decor, ambiance and staff are absolutely fantastic. Special mention to Toun who made our stay even better. No request was impossible for Toun and she did everything with a smile. Loved the complementary mini bar, the free bikes, the free shuttle, the amazing breakfast. We had a few issues during our stay though - there was often a strong smell of sewage in our room but couldn’t open the windows become of the mosquitos. Even with the AC on and the fan the smell wouldn’t go away. The shower too , the shower head is way too low to take a shower and it’s not great to shower with one hand holding the shower head. The rain shower wasn’t good as the water pressure was not enough so more annoying than nice. The street behind is where people come for the alms early in the morning so it’s practical but then we had a huge group of Chinese tourists who made so much noise at 4:30 am waiting for the monks. We went down to see what was happening as we thought a there was a protest going on. Maybe go tell them to be more considerate towards other people who are trying to sleep ?
Tilong V — Google review
We absolutely loved our stay at V Maison. The location is amazing and the room was beautiful. Breakfast was also fantastic! Unfortunately, when we came back to the room for the evening, the shower area smelled like sewage and no matter how much we aired the room out we couldn’t get the smell to go away. Aside from that, our stay was great.

Really nice hotel. Everything is new. The place in the city is perfect. But the service is not at the level. They don't really speak English and don't have any contact with good travel agency for visiting around. In addition all taxi prices are too expensive
Rémy D — Google review
A nice place to stay, the bed is comfortable and fluffy, bright room, and good ambience. As I have meeting in their Souphattra hotel, their sister hotel, they give free ride to go there, as many times I like :) also I experience to use their shuttle car (like golf car) nice experience. The staff were also very friendly, the first staff I met when check in and also the girl who prepare breakfast for me. Although sometimes we have some misunderstanding because of English but it can be solved, either way they give good service and hospitality. Additionally, the place, is 5/5, you just have to walk few metres to see alms giving, 10 min to night market and near tp famous restaurant. If you're looking for halal food it's around 400m from there, called fathima. The porridge breakfast is delicious Overall I have pleasant stay there, thanks v maison

Unbelievable! A true gem in Luang Prabang worthy of 5⭐️!!! LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! V Maison is a new boutique hotel located in, I would say, probably the most strategic location in LP. The famous Popolo pizza is literally 1 minute walk away (right next door). 3 minutes to the alms offering route that monks would pass by every morning. Less than 5 minutes walk to most of the famous cafes and eateries in LuangPrabang (L’elephant, Le Benetton Cafe, Le Calao, Bamboo Tree etc), 10 minutes walk to the famous Wat Xiengthong and the Sunset Cruises companies, 15 minutes walk to the night market and morning market. The hotel also provides free bicycle but IMHO, the charm and beauty of LuangPrabang is best to be navigated by foot. ;) They have just opened their door in early October. Everything is sparkling new and exquisite. So fancy you can even literally adjust the desired temperature (say,37 Celsius) for your hot tub lol 😆 The bed is worth mentioning. I have been staying in many top hotels across the world and yet I would say V Maison has one of the softest, fluffiest, cloud-like bed that’d be in the top of my list. (They do have turn down service every evening) Service level is impeccable and meticulous. 💯 As a solo female traveler, the staffs have done their best to make me feel at home - in fact I enjoyed my stay so much I even extended my staying duration from 3 nights to 4 at V Maison. Last but not least, I really enjoyed their healthy curation of the traditional Laotian breakfast (of course they have western selections too) but I do highly recommend trying out their Laotian breakfast. The only “weakness”, if I must say, is there is no swimming pool. But if that’s not your concern, V Maison is a 99.9/100 Kudos and all the best to the team. I can’t wait to come back to V Maison and Luang Prabang next year, hopefully with my family this time. 😉

We had the most wonderful stay at Souphattra Luang Prabang. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The hotel is absolutely beautiful — a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort, nestled in a peaceful and lush setting. The staff was outstanding: kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Every detail was taken care of with so much care, from the delicious breakfasts to the thoughtful touches in the room. We truly felt at home and completely relaxed throughout our stay. It’s clear that the entire team takes pride in offering an exceptional experience. We couldn’t recommend this hotel more, and we’re already looking forward to returning one day. Thank you again to everyone at Souphattra for making our time in Luang Prabang so special!

A nice boutique hotel - but I asked for some fruit at breakfast, like pineapple or papaia, they don’t have… it’s a pity for a boutique hotel to have a limited breakfast for not asian persons!

Nestled along the serene banks of the Nam Khan River, The Apsara Hotel is a modern gem in Luang Prabang that beautifully blends comfort with local charm. Just a short stroll from cultural landmarks like Ock Pop Tok and Wat Xieng Thong, this hotel offers an ideal base for exploring the city. Guests can unwind on the terrace while enjoying complimentary Wi-Fi and concierge services.
First I would like to shoutout the host of this hotel. He was generally helpful, gave great suggestions on activities, and had a wonderful attitude. All the staff were great. Perfect location, right by a number of good activities. The beds were some of the most comfortable I encountered in my three weeks in Thailand and Laos!
Skylar M — Google review
It is difficult to add to the other 5 star reviews already posted for the Apsara and our experience matched that of other reviewers. Our room was exceedingly comfortable with doors opening onto the balcony which remained sunny most of the day. Staff were excellent and Ivan (the owner) was often present to provide information and guidance from his many years of living here. Apsara is well positioned making Luang Prabang easy to explore. Highly recommended.
Iain M — Google review
Nice traditional hotel on the riverside and close to the main attractions.
Frans G — Google review
The Apsara is a charming hotel in a great location with fantastic staff. It seems like every structure in the center of Luang Prabang is a hotel or restaurant. On one side of the central area is the Mekong River and on the other is the Nam Khan River. The Name Kahn, where the Apsara is located, is the quieter and prettier side. In early February 2025 I stayed in a second floor room, which is well worth paying for, as opposed to one on the ground level. But a friend stayed in a ground floor room and liked it immensely. Next to the Apsara is the Tamarind, one of the best restaurants in Luang Prabang. The manager, Mr Room, helped us with everything we needed. He's great.

This place is beautiful - such a charming hotel with fantastic balcony views. The room is lovely - huge space with wooden floors, pretty furniture, nice bath and shower. We felt spoiled. This was our “treat ourselves” spot on our trip and totally worth it. The staff go above and beyond to be helpful and kind. It was a perfect stay for us!

A huge abundance of the most varied and delicious food, which is prepared right there in front of you, an abundance of fruit. If you want to eat here, you can take it with you. Abundance of people of all nationalities. My favorite atmosphere is the evening Asian market, typical for these countries. There are performances on weekends. Well, next to it is a clothing market with the same abundance, but only all sorts of souvenirs, clothes, etc. I like places like this, as well as all of Southeast Asia (Original) Вечером это место невероятным образом оживает и преображается.
