Porta Nigra, also known as the Black Gate, is a grand Roman gateway dating back to 180 AD. It is the largest monument of its kind in the north of Italy and serves as a natural starting point for exploring Trier. Despite several renovation projects over the years, its imposing size and unmissable Roman design have been retained. Visitors can walk through it and even go up into it to appreciate the detailed carvings and sheer size.
Beautiful day out in Trier where this historic gateway is found. A ride in the tourist train is a must ro see the main sights which are all accessible to walk within 20 min radius. Lovely bars and cafes in the square. The Cathedral is beautiful. Home of Karl Marx, his house is good to visit too alongside the amphitheatre, palace gardens and other beautiful buildings.

Absolutely beautiful! We parked in a structure not too far from here near city center. Look in my reviews for the location. This beautiful display of ancient architecture was very impressive. There is a great place to take a picture in front of the gate towards the main road. We just stood in awe!
Mandy O — Google review
It's a strange thing to find such Intact and extensive Roman ruins so far north in Europe! In many ways this building is better preserved than some of the buildings in Rome itself. Very informative interpretation, reasonably priced and presenting good views of the city!
Iain M — Google review
Excellent landmark to visit in the middle of the delightful town of Trier. Museum offers a unique insight into local Roman and political history. Limited public conveniences and places to rest do reduce overall enjoyment, however there's many café options and restaurants nearby.
Emma B — Google review
Stumbled across this Roman structure. Relatively quiet access, amazing looking ancient structure around a more modern area. Well preserved, access allowed into the structure.
Rob B — Google review
Amazing site to see - not often you csn see Roman ruins from the 2nd century. Built from huge sandstone blocks, some weighing 6 tons - without modern machinery. The only one of the 4 original gates still standing, it was spared because it was used as a church. Massive structure in the center of town that should inspire awe. A remnant of a different age, when the Roman Empire ruled much of Europe.
Kevin C — Google review
Very beautiful and crazy to believe this is one the few structures that remains within Roman time period. Trier was the capital of the Roman empire and you can easily imagine how everything was walking through those arches.
BiG-JuP O — Google review
The fact that this was built around 170 AD is absolutely mindblowing. I loved it! They still have some remnants of religious things in it, which was very interesting to see since it was also turned into a church at some point. Went on July 24, 2025

The Electoral Palace, located in Trier, is a 17th-century palace with guided tours available for visitors. The Aula Palatina, also known as the Basilica of Constantine, was originally a Roman palace basilica and is now used as the oldest Protestant church in Catholic Trier. The palace was once the residence of the Archbishop and Electors of the powerful Electorate of Trier within the Holy Roman Empire.
So lovely gardens and statues. Magnificient place. So calming and nice for day rest. One of the most beautiful historic towns in Germany - Trier. Worth visiting during all seasons. Even in winter. My recommendations!
Enis O — Google review
A really cool political and social/political building since it was a palace originally. Roman design build and alot of statues as well as large stained glass. Wall heated by Romam inginíty
Don D — Google review
There is limited public access to the palace except for occasional public tours or exhibitions since it’s an administrative building now. Gardens and palace facade is the main draw for visitors.
Mike Z — Google review
The palace is next to the basilica. The facade is a gorgeous Rococo style with lavish pink and gold decorations. There are some marble sculptures in front of the palace. The large garden and lawn balance the splendidness. Because it’s so picturesque, some people were taking wedding pictures there. The pond at the side provides serenity.
Aggie W — Google review
The gardens in front of the Palace are amazing. Very well maintained and peaceful. They attract visitors of all ages and the playgrounds next to them are very convenient for parents with small kids. The white sculptures and the pond add to the beauty of the green surroundings.
Eriola K — Google review
A beautiful picturesque building right next to the basilica. The exterior is Rocco style with marvellous gold decorations which shines bright during a good sunny day and beautifully carved sculptures. There is a beautiful lush green lawn and huge garden in the palace premises. We did not go inside, but it was good to admire the beauty by taking a nice walk in the gardens which provided different views of the palace. The visit to the gardens is free and it is a nice way to walk to Kaiserthermen if you are interested in visiting the remains of old Roman bath.
Animesh K — Google review
Nicely coloured palace with beautiful rococo façade surrounded by joyful and nice gardens full of sculptures. Its a great place to relax and reflect after a long day touring Trier. The palace's vibrant pink color and its rich rococo façade are simply stunning, making them perfect background for wedding photography. Apparently visitors can access the interiors by booking a tour, however I did not have time to do that, I did rather take a stroll around in beautifully maintained and manicured gardens with ponds and fountains. There is a café located in the middle of the gardens and at the south corner an entrance to the Kaiserthermen can be found. Visited in July 2022.
Pavel D — Google review
Although you are not able to tour the inside at the moment, it’s still a beautiful place to visit. The gardens are gorgeous, there is a huge playground for kids and a pond that had a ton of ducks just hanging around.

The Church of Our Lady in Trier, known as Liebfrauenkirche, is a stunning example of early Gothic architecture and holds the title of Germany's oldest Gothic church. Its interior features an airy design with multiple arches that evoke the image of a rose, reflecting its dedication to the Virgin Mary. When visiting this remarkable site, you’ll find yourself surrounded by other historical treasures such as the Porta Nigra and St.
Very beautiful and quite large church! Beautiful place for pictures in the cloister and the garden. No entry tickets. Very closely situated to all the other sights as well.
BC B — Google review
Super cool church with both enormously impressive inside and external architecture. This has architecture and detailed carvings that challenge Notre Dame. Of course the Germans have to outdo France!!
Don D — Google review
The Church of our lady in Trier is a great piece of art. It is so beautiful inside and has a peaceful atmosphere. It is worth to visit it to admire its beauty.
Bert B — Google review
A church constructed during the 17th century which looks dull outwards but immense rich culture and history exists. I was marvelled by the beautiful statue of our lady at the right corner and the huge bird-like looking organ.
Joyal D — Google review
Another beautiful and well decorated church, right next to the main cathedral. Full with beautiful tainted coloured windows depicting the stories. The light coming through those window makes it all magical inside the church. The pillars and high ceilings are further decorated with designs and beautiful paintings. The most beautiful part is the one behind the altar. This is another marvellous piece of architecture in Trier.
Animesh K — Google review
Absolute masterpiece! And the colors! Wow! Did not have high expectations as the church looked like any other church in Germany, but what I saw inside took my breath away! It was probably the most impressive and colorful church I have visited. The light coming through the colored stained glass windows felt almost magical, something surreal and left a wonderful impression on me. Definitely worth visiting on a sunny day! I did enjoy the layout, or I should say floor plan, as it has a rounded base and with the portal and altar niches built in, the floor plan resembles a rose, a symbol of the Virgin Mary. It is a compact church, absolutely perfect for ceremonies for weddings (I would love to attend one here), yet magnificent and massive in size, especially looking up at the tall vaulted ceiling. Worth noticing are also the frescoes on the columns, on each of them depicting 12 apostles. The church is free to enter and it's worth visiting the open cloister and the Saint Peter's Cathedral next door. Visited in July 2022.
Pavel D — Google review
Dom and this church makes use understand what it meant to live in Trier during ancient times. The church itself is magnificent. The lighting inside of the church is wonderful. It is a must visit for anyone who visits Trier. This is a must go place after the Roman monuments.
Sreeram S — Google review
Possibly the most impressive church I have visited in my life. I laugh now as I thought this was a cathedral, but is actually the church. We spent a good hour visiting this extraordinary church and all its many layers, trust me I’m normally the first to be out of a church, but this truly felt like a place that could make you believe in something if like me you are an atheist. I’d loved to have seen a service, I can imagine this place is just so popular. It’s clearly well loved and maintained. There is an interesting heating system, and random construction filled with human remains. If you visit trier you simply have to visit this magnificent building.

The City Museum Simeonstift Trier, located near the iconic Porta Nigra, offers a diverse collection that spans from medieval artifacts to Renaissance paintings and Coptic textiles. Visitors can explore Egyptian mummy portraits and original stone work while admiring a large model showcasing Trier in 1800. The museum also houses the Toy Museum on Nagelstrasse, featuring an impressive array of German-made toys such as mechanical toys, trains, dolls, tin soldiers, and stuffed animals.
Very interesting museum. You can see the original statues which were on the facade of a house in central square. Don’t miss the plan of the city and the one after ww2 destruction. Small but interesting museum. Visit takes around 1 h, depending of your interest. A good complement with Porta Nigra next to it.
David D — Google review
This museum is a treasure trove of local history. The audio guide is a great addition, but I regret missing out on much of the information because my phone was dead and I couldn’t use Google Translate. I’m disappointed that I’ll miss the upcoming exhibit about the city’s walls. Despite this, the museum is well-organized, with clear labels and a spacious layout. Even the top floor exhibit about textiles and fashions was impressive. A definite must see when in town.
Michael B — Google review
Very well laid out museum! The exhibits were very well organised and well maintained/restored! A lot of history to imbibe! Entrance fees was reasonable. We left quite early as we had some other commitments. But definitely plan 2-3 hours for making a proper visit of this museum! The shop also has a very good collection of Porta Nigra replicas and Roman replicas! A Roman Helmet is available to try and for those who are curious, available for purchase!
Sanjeev B — Google review
The Stadtmuseum Simeonstift in Trier showcases a rich collection of art and cultural artifacts spanning the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Located near the iconic Porta Nigra, the museum highlights Trier’s history through paintings, sculptures, and historical exhibits. Visitors appreciate its informative displays and peaceful atmosphere, making it a worthwhile stop for history and art enthusiasts exploring Germany’s oldest city.
Dani B — Google review
Disappointing and dull, I found I learnt very little. Despite its location, there was virtually no Roman history apart from a section of wall in the small basement. The cinema was broken and not showing film but was still playing loud music pointlessly. It was focused on medieval history, with play exhibits in random order for young children. There was little useful information for older children or adults with an interest in history. There was English in some descriptions and the short dark cartoon videos were good but contained only a sentence or two of explanation per scene.
Steve M — Google review
The museum is too schematic. The history of the City is not presented articulated enough. Half of the museum space is used for temporary exhibitions which have no English translation.
Alin S — Google review
Very disappointing museum. A couple interesting pieces like the 3d city model showing the war damage but many exhibits are just a waste of time. Having a group of artists doing sketches and yakking away in the cloister ruined that experience. To make it even worse, one of these "artists" was spread eagle in the middle of the aisle with no respect for paying customers trying to walk through. Also, the loud employees taking all over the place was irritating. I could barely hear the audio guide in the first room because of the screaming gift shop lady. Save your money and go see something else.

Trier Saint Peter's Cathedral is a stunning blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and baroque architecture. The cathedral features a vaulted, fortress-style design that showcases a mix of artistic styles. Visitors can explore the Market Cross at its center, dating back to 958, and the St Peters Fountain adorned with allegorical figures representing cardinal virtues and playful monkeys. The exterior boasts unique decorations such as Madonnas, gold stars, water features, and oxen.
Build over diffrent epochs from the early begins in the year 310 340 ,by the emperieur Constantin ,one of the most impressive cathedrals i ever seen. The details by each stauts is great and shows the know how of each christian art over 1700 years, a must visite
AMAECHI O — Google review
This was my first time visiting the Trier Cathedral (Trier Dom), and I was truly impressed by the grandeur and historical richness of the place. The architecture is breathtaking — a perfect blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles, reflecting over 1,700 years of history. The atmosphere inside is calm and spiritual. The high ceilings, ancient stone walls, and stained glass windows give a powerful sense of timelessness. It’s amazing to think this is the oldest cathedral in Germany, with parts dating back to Roman times. There’s also a lot to explore: the Holy Robe (Heiliger Rock), the crypt, and the quiet courtyards surrounding the complex. Entry is free, and there are brochures in multiple languages available for visitors. I highly recommend taking your time to sit quietly inside and soak in the peaceful environment. Whether you’re religious, interested in history, or just love beautiful architecture, the Trier Dom is a must-visit.
Ameer M — Google review
Trier Cathedral, old architecture marvel because it was built in a very old era. Beautiful historical structure with religious importance because of the holy robe. Last time it was displayed in 2012 to the public where large number of visitors came. To visit inside there are certain timings which changes from winter.
Bhanu A — Google review
Amazing cathedral and architecture, with roots going bsck 1700 years to Roman occupation. Current structure from 13th century and stunning both inside and out. Free to enter, with several options inside to donate towards supporting the building. Hard to imagine how they built it without modern tools. The ceilings are well over 10 stories high, and they elaborate carvings and paintings are simply stunning!
Kevin C — Google review
There are many beautiful and breathtaking cathedrals across Germany and Europe but this one stands at the top with the best. While on the outside it may not appear as daunting or heavenly, inside is quite the opposite. What a breathtaking experience. Be sure to go down below to the catacombs and outside to the courtyard. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Trier.

The 12th-century St. Matthias Abbey is a monastery in Trier, Germany that was founded by Saint Matthias the Apostle. The church is popular with Catholic pilgrims and during the days of yore, monks used to live here. The impressive building and its ancient graves are unforgettable sights for anyone visiting Trier.
This was a great experience for me and my body daughter to stop and see a very historical place where one of the apostles is buried. The church is quite beautiful and admission is free and there is parking that is free nearby as well. It was well worth our time to check out such a neat historical place.
Dale S — Google review
Wonderful abbey. Hardly any tourists or pilgrims so you can take your time and sit and pray at the tomb of the apostle st. Matthias.
Kimberly H — Google review
This wonderful abbey has the remains of the Apostle Matthias, who was selected to replace Judas as one of the Twelve after the Ascension of Jesus Christ. His tomb is accessible to guests and the Vespers here is amazing and holy.
Liam D — Google review
Lovely peaceful place to visit, with an interesting history and the person who’s relics are believed to be there It’s a renowned place of pilgrimage because of the tomb of Saint Matthias the Apostle, after whom the abbey is named, located here since the 12th century Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area
RobertsRoamers — Google review
The Abby of St Mattias is an Benedictine Abbey and it has the crypt of the first two bishops of the diocese of Trier. One of the attractions is the sarcophagus of St Mattias making it the only church in Germany to have full relics of an Apostle.
Stanly P — Google review
Incredible church where the apostle Matheus is and from many Catholic journeys have started
Fabricio B — Google review
Imagine, you can see the impressive church from the 18th century, and inside - the graves of Trier's bishops of Roman times! Touch the ancient history!
Konstantin S — Google review
There are brochures at the entrance with the history of the place, but all of them are in German. I used my phone to make a translation. It contains the funerary remains of the first bishops in Trier, the bishop that built the church, and the funerary remains of St. Matias, the apostle who replaced Judas (It is debatable whether these are really his remains).

Weinstube Zum Domstein is a charming restaurant located between the Main Market Square and the Cathedral in Trier. The venue boasts an eclectic atmosphere with Roman artifacts and a courtyard, making it a perfect spot to unwind after exploring the city. While offering traditional German cuisine during the day, its standout feature is the delectable dishes inspired by ancient local recipes dating back to the first century.
The Roman menu is delicious and also lactose free. Prepare to get full in a nice environment with friendly stuff. I would recommend to reserve a seat.

Centrally local in the square, you can’t miss it. During tourist season they have outdoor seating but they have a back patio as well. Food is good, wines are amazing and service can be hit or miss but most servers do speak a little English. Great place to people watch! Highly recommend their soups!

Karl Marx House, located in Trier at Bruckenstrasse 10, is a museum dedicated to the life and work of Karl Marx and the history of communism. The museum showcases exhibits featuring letters, personal possessions, and details about Marx's humble origins and life journey. Despite being born in 1818 in this house and spending 17 years here until graduating high school, some visitors may not be particularly familiar with Marx or his ideas.
I have visited the House of Karl Marx in Trier twice, and I find it very interesting, to better understand the history of Karl Marx. There are not so many items in the house, but you can find a lot of information. Very recommended the visit !
Bert B — Google review
A museum can only convey history as it is. The museum management should keep its own illogical opinions to itself. It is understandable that the Germans could not accept Stal'in. After all, he did not allow them to rule the world. But that is not right. The tyrant, the dictator, was your leader and now you are ashamed to mention his name. And this person is the one who saved you from tyranny. Go to bed and be grateful to him for saving you from a great misfortune.
Anar G — Google review
Good to see history of Karl Marx, lots of exhibition rooms. Downside is lots of stairs if you have mobility issues as this spans 3 floors. It was also very busy when we went so be prepared to ro wait to see, read the information. Home is beautiful with lovely garden.
Beverly L — Google review
Cute courtyard house and museum on 3 floors, very nice staff. You don't need audioguides since texts in each room explains very well the different life stages of Karl Marx and info on the house itself. It is a must see in Trier!
Myriem L — Google review
Beautiful house, had a lot of facts about Karl Marx and his life as expected. But it would have been better if the place can be made a bit more interactive. And the lights were not switched on in the back garden, not sure if it was only for that day. But the garden was very pretty, the management can ensure the lights stay on in the evening, at least during winters.
Siva P — Google review
Thoughtfully curated museum that shows many aspects of Karl Marx's life. Gives a fairly neutral approach to his works and this makes for interesting reading and discussion.
Graham O — Google review
Not sure if I agree that this museum does justice to Karl Marx. I think it is good but not sufficiently well-done

Barbara baths are around 15 min walk from Trier Centrum but I was disappointed because the ruins are protected site hence many site are covered. Pics for reference. If you happen to pass by this place then please do visit here otherwise you won't miss much.
Mahima S — Google review
Its a shame that the preservation of this site isn't receiving the funding it deserves. It needs proper protection in a museum building. In its current state its not very accessible.
Jason N — Google review
Not much can be seen and analysed but only can be imagined and assumed. Because only some portion got excavated. But the baths are very very old. Most of the recovered part of baths is also covered so , it is just that if someone is present in that area can visit the baths otherwise nothing much to be missed😁. The history of the baths can anyways be read on internet😅.

W arrived at 2:30 pm and The gate was wide open and so we entered and before we got to the ticket office a young woman came out and abruptly told us we had to leave. She claimed it was closed although online it said they are open until six.

Super nice. Small but free to enter, good informative signs.

Interesting site. Great descriptions in English with pictures so you can see what they are talking about and picture what it used to look like. Looks like they need more funding to do more excavating and they could probably find more artifacts.
Adrianell S — Google review
Once the second largest baths in the Empire, these are now mostly in ruins. It is a little difficult to visualise the splendour of these baths, before they were mostly destroyed and repurposed in the Middle Ages. The baths themselves cannot be entered, but you can go over a walkway which leads over the baths and which has informative posters showing what was once there.

Amphitheater
The Trier Amphitheater is a Roman monument from the 2nd century AD which is still in use for public entertainment. It was built on a natural slope of the earth, and during antiquity it hosted animal fights, gladiator battles and executions.
Take a picnic to the upper seats and enjoy watching the scenes unfold. We were there during a school age group demonstration. The self-tour around the site and underneath are amazing.
Deb G — Google review
A special feature of this Roman amphitheatre is that you can access the underground areas, which is not normally possible in other amphitheatres. The visit, including climbing up to the stands, takes about 30 minutes. Tickets cost €6, or €16 for a combined ticket for two Roman sites and the Rheinische Landesmuseum, while a combined ticket that also includes the other Roman buildings, all UNESCO World Heritage Sites, costs €28. Free parking reserved for visitors only, bus stop in front, lines 4 ; 6 ; 7 from the city center. Augusta Treverorum, its first name, was founded in 16 BC and became one of the most important Roman cities north of the Alps. The amphitheatre, built between 160 and 200 AD, could seat around 20,000 spectators. The city was conquered at the end of the 4th century and, as often happened, the sumptuous buildings fell into disuse and were used as quarries from which to extract building materials. The stands were completely plundered and the site was transformed into a vineyard.
Fabio R — Google review
Certainly, it's an interesting historical site! However, it's not particularly remarkable, especially when compared to the stunning and beautiful churches in the city center, which are free to visit. The admission price is reasonable, I suppose. You might find better value elsewhere, but it's acceptable. 2 things to point out : 1)Make sure you know where the entrance is, so you won't have to make a circle around the whole thing, due to Google Maps not leading you correctly. 2)If you did happen to walk around the theatre, you can see most of it from the top for free.
Matvii G — Google review
Brilliant place to see some history. Very well preserved and informative information around the site to explain what this place was like in its hey day.
Beverly L — Google review
Interesting historic location which is easy to look around and gives a good sense of what the place would have been like with Roman gladiators. There are signs all around to explain what things are if don't want to go on al tour. The signs are in multiple languages including English. The car park is free but spaces are limited.
Joe B — Google review
Almost 2000 year old Roman amphitheatre where "civilized" people acted totally "uncivilized" staging fights between gladiators and other humans and animals. Now a setting for events and concerts. Interesting well kept up site.

Museum
Located in Hauptmarkt, Trier, the Spielzeugmuseum is a delightful toy museum housing around 5,000 antique and contemporary toys. The collection includes miniature trains, dolls, soldiers, Lego sets, and even a 130-year-old dancing bear. Visitors can interact with some of the toys on display. Despite its small size, the museum offers a well-organized layout that is easily navigable. It also features a lift for easy access to all floors.
This museum is a perfect look at the past when children really played with their toys along with their mothers or fathers. I remember a lot of them. The reception was very friendly and kind and she was speaking English that i consider very important because the museum visitors are not Germans but from all over the world. So it was a very satisfying experience to look closely of all the toys of the past decades or the past century.
Eleni M — Google review
A nice toy museum in the center of Trier. Fun collection of a lot of old toys. As an adult you have seen it in about an hour. Our five year old son thinks you need more time. After we stood at the first marble track for a while we went to the next one. Then at least 30 minutes at the Lego and now already 45 minutes and counting at the Brio table. Bring a book or something for yourself. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Brenda — Google review
Museum was fun to visit with the kids. The balance between displays and toys is a bit off. There are far more displays than toys to play with for the kids. We spend between 1-2 hrs.
Niek — Google review
A rather small museum, but it had a few instalations that were interactive and the kids really enjoyed them. A very nice experience overall.
Ionescu A — Google review
Cheap entry. Lots of displays for all kinds of toys. Do not expect an interactive museum where all toys can be played with, but rather an exhibition with several play options. Spend a maximum of 2 hours here. Indoor temeprature is uncomfortably high in summer.
Guido — Google review
Very cute old vintage toys museum, if you like to see old vintage toys, or are you a collector vintage toys, you need to see this, friendly people and on the way out you could buy some merchandise, people with knee problem, need more attentions because they dont have lift to go up, i feel sorry for them, because these days people less interest with old vintage toys, so the museum never crowded, so no wonder the ticket little bit pricy, but if you want to support, you could just pay the ticket and you could buy some merchandise on the way to exit, and downstrair they have cafe, you can eat and drink there.
Anggie — Google review
Little gem in Trier. Fun for kids, and even for the parents and grandparents. Small, but so is the entree fee (could only pay by cash by the way). Had to take two staircases from the entrance, but there is a lift, you only have to take it from the restaurant. So that is confusing. Some toys really have history, because they know from who it belonged to, or they place it in context of time reference. So that is nice. They put chairs every few meters to sit. With some toys children can play. Some toys on display are even obscure or out of place, but the more interesting they are. Worth a visit.

St. Peter's Basilica is a must-visit in Trier, Germany. It is believed to have been the throne room for the emperor during Roman times and boasts impressive architecture with double rows of windows that allow natural light to flood in. The basilica holds historical significance and offers visitors the chance to see relics, including the tunic of Jesus Christ, making it a spiritually enriching experience.
Visited the Cathedral on a Saturday and it was crowded. This is the first Cathedral in Germany built in the 4th century and included in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. It was a wonderful choice to visit this place at Trier.

Situated across from the cathedral and the Church of Lady, it's an ideal spot to dine on the terrace while sampling top-quality regional wines. The self-service menu features 'Region's Best,' showcasing a delectable array of fish, sausages, and cheese.
Great food with great prices. I ordered the Schnitzel, which was really good and homemade. I also enjoyed the fact that this is a historical restaurant in the heart of Trier with a marvellous view of the Basilica. The wines also had a really good price and were delicious.

A lovely experience in the heart of Trier! The outside seating is enchanting with views of the cathedral, the inside eis cozy and rustic. It is a great place to get local food and sample local wines! You order and pay at the bar up front and food will be delivered to your table. Portions are generous and wether you want a small snack, big meal, vegetarian option or meat dish, there is something for everyone. Perfect Saturday lunch in summertime👌

Wonderful place In front of the St Matthias Church You can fine looking at this amazing architecture (Pisa tower style) Food Very good, also with only vegetarian or fish options!! Very much appreciated! Very good service! Very good organisation! Normal/long waiting times; Also the charcuterie very good! They have olive oil upon request We loved it!! The interior is also lovely and typical! A place where to return ! Outside there is a countryside grapevine decoration all around the table! Just the perfect frame! Only minus, too much salt on the mushrooms and the extra white sauce on the salad! Our suggestion: keep it aside ;) See you next time time to try the very promising deserts

The drink and the food were good and the staff were kind and friendly. But there was a couple sitting at the table next to us and the man, who seemed to be in his 50s or 60s, started talking to us in an inappropriate way saying that we should leave the restaurant because of our religion !!!Then, his wife came and she also treated us in a way that we had to get up and leave there. I don’t know how someone can judge the others by their appearance, color of hair or eyes and decide what their religion is!!! We wanted to still stay and eat/drink but because of this negative energy, we decided to go somewhere else.

The St. Gangolf Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Trier, Germany. It was built in the 15th century and is dedicated to St. Gangulphus. The church's white and yellow façade can be seen from the Porta Nigra and it sits just behind the Hauptmarkt. While it dates back to 958, it was reconstructed in the 13th century with its tower being built in the 14th century.
St Gangolf Church service for daily mass in every 12.00 PM and 18.00 PM. This is a Cathlolic Church near Trier Cathedral. I was happy to have an opportunity to celebrate Eucharisty here during my official trip.
Pravitasmara D — Google review
Maybe I have been overwhelmed after visiting the famous cathedral, so my 4 stars may seem bit harsh, but I still think this one is definitely worth visiting. After all, it is located in city center. Germany does love her churches and this one is no exception, and it is well maintained so give her a go and take a few shots with your camera.
Josip R — Google review
Very interesting story of St Gangolf. Finding the entry to this church is a puzzle which is worth awhile when visiting Trier. You would see the tower of the church from Hauptmarkt but, you would be riddled with the shops and restaurants beside it.
Sreeram S — Google review
I was particularly drawn to the church's Gothic features and color scheme rivaling that of an apricot. As if to beckon me welcome, a magnolia was blossoming in the chilly spring weather, its petals scattering across the wind with each breeze. it was truly magical. I appreciated visiting the Church of St Gangolf was its relatively lack of visitors. It was not a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and with it partially blocked by surrounding buildings despite its tower sticking out, made it not very obvious as a visitor's spot. I was fortunate that I was lured in by the baroque portal that led me to it, otherwise I would be as ignorant as the next traveler. Definitely a place which I recommend highly to those who prefer something slightly off the beaten path.

Schlemmereule in Trier offers an elegant dining experience with a focus on creative European cuisine. The restaurant's menu is inspired by French, Luxembourgish, and other European culinary traditions. It also boasts an extensive wine list featuring over 200 wines from the finest Moselle wine estates. The restaurant's location opposite Trier Cathedral provides a picturesque setting for enjoying their fine dining offerings.
Quite pricey, but worth the money for the experience. It may not carry a Michelin star, but is worth a mention as a good locale. Have a sommelier suggest some of the local wines to pair with your meal. Or visit some of the many Weinstuben to try the wines separately.

The Rhineland State Museum Trier is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and culture seekers alike. Nestled next to the iconic Porta Nigra, this grand museum showcases an impressive collection of archaeological treasures from the Roman Empire. As you wander through its halls, you'll encounter original statues and artistic masterpieces that are often replicated throughout the city, offering a unique glimpse into Trier's rich heritage. While exploring this remarkable museum, don't miss out on other nearby attractions such as St.
This museum excels in displaying and describing archaeological artifacts from the surrounding region. It boasts an extensive collection of Roman-era artifacts, setting it apart from most other archaeological museums in the area. The museum is clean, well-organized, and provides a complimentary audio guide. However, since most of the descriptions are in German, it’s advisable to use a device like Google Translate to understand them. Fortunately, the audio guide is available in English.
Michael B — Google review
The museum is a very big and beautiful building in itself. The ticket price is affordable. The collection is extensive and very impressive. We are very happy that we have visited this place. The only thing that bothered us is that the lady who was giving directions at the entrance was not very friendly and the ticket person was also not so welcoming. The first impression was therefore not as good as it could have been. The museum made up for it by being very interesting and diverse and with a fascinating collection. The level of craftmanship and artistry of our ancestors is beyond your imagination. The museum also gave us a better context and understanding of the city of Trier. But a friendly welcome would have been the 5th star. It is so easy and costs nothing to give a smile and friendliness.

Extensive and impressive archaeological collection of important finds from the city and surrounding area. Particularly strong on Roman artefacts and large structures. Beautiful mosaics, statues, tombs, and a treasury. Highly recommended! English texts could be more extensive, most descriptions are only in German.

Fantastic museum! Amazing range of artifacts, from prehistory to the Roman era and more! Note for tourists is that none of the displays are in English, only in German, and the audio guide is only for certain displays. Furthermore, no internet is available, and data connection inside the museum is poor, so I would reccomend downloading the German dictionary on google translate. So you can translate things you are interested in!! It's an amazing museum :))
Isabel S — Google review
Very nice museum, i was really impressed by the huge collection of artifacts. Specially the Roman Tombs are insane. You can visit at least two to three hours here.. Also, they have a multimedia show at 12, extra cost, around these Roman tombs. So why 4 stars and not 5? Well, German signs all over the place, hardly anything in other language. You can get a free audio tour though. Another thing, the multimedia show, we took the Dutch language guide, but the sound in German was so loud, you could here it through the headphone. Also context about what you see is erm... Nowhere, honestly i had no idea what this show was about.... So yes, fantastic museum, could be better if they think more about other languages....

Went to an excellent Marcus Aurelius exhibition. Well curated, easy to follow with a good mix of artefacts and modern models and supporting material. Most of it bar the smaller items had English translations and the English audio guide was great bar some entertaining translations 🙂 Recommended though it closes at 5. Overload of Tomato sauce and tomato in the dishes. We spent not so much time waiting to place the order but waited a long time to get the receipt (almost 20 minutes). The Pizza size and the Pasta portions were very big! Pizza center was very thin but pizza crust was not crispy. The toppings were not uniformly laid out on the Pizza. Reduction of the Tomato in the dishes can hugely improve the taste of the actual dish! The mocktail we had was fantastic anf perhaps the highlight of the visit!

Great hidden but not really out of they way place. Location reduced the noise from the concerts immensely. I really happy when I looked around the huge outdoor seating area and saw no ashtrays! AWESOME. Unfortunately some youth were vaping. DISGUSTING, then I saw a sneaky rude smoke trying to hide his cigarette but then he went and found an ashtray. I hope they will soon prohibit smoking in their outdoor seating area! The food was delicious! Our waitress was great most of the time until I asked for a dessert menu. After delivering it she came so close yo returning to our table but always seemed to find a reason not to return to our table. I finally got up and told what I wanted.

It was a perfect place to celebrate our friend’s birthday. Pizzas were huge and delicious. Atmosphere and music were so nice, that we enjoyed every minute of it. I would recommend to reserve a table in advance, unless you want to wait in a long line, since there is always too many people and not enough of tables.

The food, the drinks and the service were good. The pizza was very large and we could choose different flavours for the 2 halves of pizza. We enjoyed the inviting and warm atmosphere. We wished nevertheless that the bean mousse we ordered as an appetiser had more garlic, as we couldn't taste any.

Place itself look nice, but it’s tricky. I had there the worst Italian food ever. I believe that’s pretty offensive to call it Italian. Food had a strong German cuisine influence. Nothing was right, and the prices are pretty high. We have order two pieces of meat which should be different: one rare the other medium, instead they arrived at the same time to our table and both were pretty bloody. The worst it yet to come, I have received pasta which was a true nightmare, but just look at the pictures… coffee is bad, panna cotta I won’t even comment. I don’t know how this place has 4.3 rating. People go to the real Italian gems in Trier!

Had a meal and drinks here whilst on holiday. Everything was good, food really nice, service prompt. Until we came to pay the bill. We were charged 63 euros for 2 meals and 2 drinks each. My wife thought this seemed steep. On checking we realised we had been overcharged so my wife went to see the manager. It turned out the waiter ( a young Asian lad) had given himself a 7 euro tip. The manager did apologise on his behalf and refunded 5 euros. Just a heads up to check your bill! Been in Germany for a few weeks and never had this happen before.

The food here was neither bad nor great - just like the service. One waitress was very nice, while another one seemed irritated towards us because we hadn't received the food we ordered. The food was not very impressive, reminding us of what you get in a school canteen. It was OK, but nothing more. On a positive note, our order didn't take long and the lemonade was good. Overall, we were disappointed and don't really understand why this restaurant has such positive ratings. If you're desperate for a restaurant to fill your stomach, this will do, but if you're looking for a culinary experience, go somewhere else.

I don't get why this place is so high up. Food is below average and not so cheap. Service is very slow when full. Tried seafood apetizer, tasted like frozen stuff drowned in oil. Caprese for my man tasted better. Then I had a pasta with pig meat, mushroom sauce and bacon. Expected an explosion of flavours, but it was really like doing a quick tasteless dinner out of the can. Great place in the middle of city. They prefer the luca app to check in, amd out. Covid passport needed on these days to visit them. The portions far enough, the tastes are well. Italian style can be followed in the whole dinner. Starter, main dish, and of course the wine.

Nestled just a stone's throw from the bustling heart of Trier, Das Weinhaus is a delightful tavern that beckons wine enthusiasts and food lovers alike. With its inviting patio tables and cozy red wine room, this charming spot offers an impressive array of Mosel wines sourced from esteemed local wineries. The philosophy here is simple: life’s too short for mediocre wine!
With an excellent selection of local wine and great food pairings, Das Weinhaus offers a quality gastronomical tour of the Moselle River valley. The service is superb with every member possessing ample knowledge of the dozens of wine on hand to ensure that you’re met with the right wine you desire. I found this place in a pinch at the last minute and I was so impressed both by how accommodating the restaurant was but also by the stellar quality of the food. Try any local Riesling and perfectly light and fresh schnitzel.

Went today, 12 oclock, nobody in the terasse, asked for 6 pers table for a short dinner. The person was sitting foing nothing and did not proposed other table than one under the sun. We asked if we could merged 2 tables since not booked. Not possible. ‘The man is cleaning the table’ Never tried to catch up us… How to loose 6 customers. Never seen a so poor service.

Located just opposite the Karl Marx house, the interior is somewhat rustic with some high tables, normal tables, two different types of flooring and also a bar area. It is however, a perfect place to do some wine tasting. There are bottles upon bottles of Mosel wine and also Offered by the glass. The selection was extensive and reasonably priced. Food is sizeable, the Wiener schnitzel was big enough to be shared by two for a light lunch. Service was average.
Travelling D — Google review
Would recommend the place for wine (which was fantastic) but not really for the food or speed of service. Had to get the attention of the waitresses every time even though we arrived around 1700 when the place was mostly empty and left when the place was filling up after 1900. Everyone was really friendly but service being hard to come by made it hard to enjoy their hospitality. Schnitzel and the side salad were decent but the cheeseboard we had wasn’t well curated. The mix of cheeses didn’t provide enough variety in texture or taste.

I was pleasantly surprised by most aspects of my visit, though there were a few areas where the experience could be improved. For my main course, I had the "salmon fillet". The potato crust along the edges was a delightful touch—crispy and flavorful. However, the crust at the center of the filet was too soft. The cucumber salad served alongside it was fresh, but its flavor slightly overpowered the fish. Overall, it was good, though not as filling as I had hoped. The "fish plate" featured nicely cooked fish, but the flavor profile was a bit too neutral. The accompanying potatoes were cut too thick and had a soft texture; thinner slices might have worked better. The cream sauce was fine, though it could just as easily have been replaced with a classic remoulade. The bread served with one of the other dishes could have been fresher, which was a slight disappointment. On a more positive note, the wine selection was good and the staff showed excellent knowledge and were able to make recommendations tailored to personal taste. I was also impressed that they took orders without writing anything down. For dessert, we ordered crème brûlée with mango sorbet. The portion was surprisingly large, with a scoop of sorbet placed on top. I think a smaller portion without the sorbet would have been more elegant. Unfortunately, the crème brûlée itself felt too heavy and lacked a pronounced vanilla flavor. Overall, the restaurant offers enjoyable dishes and commendable service, but a few refinements in preparation and presentation could elevate the dining experience.

Was there today 4th July for lunch with my wife. The service was good, we had two schnitzels, two glasses of wine and two of Dr Loosens kellerbiers. The drinks were sourced very locally and food was excellent. Really enjoyed it.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place while walking around the city. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the staff in English. Our waiter was patient with us and kind. My friend and I both ordered white wines, even though we aren’t wine drinkers we loved our selections. We also ordered a veggie flammkuchen, which was good.

I've been looking for a place in Trier which does wine pairing and this is the place to go! It ticked all of my boxes! I tried 4 local wines, which accompanied every dish perfectly. The wines were also served at the perfect temperature to compliment their tasting notes. Expect to spend when you go, but it is completely worth every cent for the experience. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, you can enjoy good wine without being pretentious! When visiting, put your trust in the staff for wine suggestions, their wine knowledge is exceptional and you might try something you wouldn't usually pick and end up surprising yourself. I'm usually a red wine drinker, but my world has been expanded and I'm now even more curious about what this part of the world has to offer. The dishes were also above par, their portions were not to large and the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. You can tell the menu was designed to go along with one of the many wines on offer. Big thanks to Patrick for his excellent service and knowledge, which seemed completely effortless on his part. Das Weinhaus will be sad to see such an asset go, but I wish the best of luck for his next adventure! I will definitely be back! NB: I went on a Thursday evening in winter without booking, but I would recommend that you book at the weekends and summer to avoid missing this gem!

Nestled in the historic heart of Trier, Weinwirtschaft Friedrich-Wilhelm offers a delightful dining experience within the charming walls of the former Friedrich-Wilhelm Grammar School. This seasonal and regional restaurant showcases a menu that beautifully blends local flavors with international influences. Guests can indulge in an array of dishes, including gluten-free options like homemade gnocchi and vegan-friendly tomato couscous paired with falafel. For dessert, their gluten-free sorbet variations are a refreshing treat.
The Weinwirtschaft was the best culinary experience I've had since living in Germany. We tried it because our wine tour guide recommended it, the staff was actually very kind, patient and informative. Each dish was prepared beautifully and highlighted fresh ingredients from the local area. Bravo to the chef and staff!! 👏🏿 Can't wait to try it again.

Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday after doing a wine tasting at Rinke the night before. As expected, this place was great. Well decorated near the Basilica, and quietly tucked away. We had a chicken cordon Bleu and a steak "special" with the pfifferling mushrooms. The service was great, the food was even better, and the wine was already known to be amazing. Would go back here whenever we're in Trier and recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty meal. The portions were more than enough to have some leftovers.

The wine tasting, which I booked beforehand via email, was the absolut Highlight! Alex Rinke the winemaker, was more than happy to talk about his wines and they were all so tasty!! The star for us was the brand new sparkling wine! The team were all more than lovely. We are on holiday and can't really leave our dog at the hotel so we were so happy when he instantly got lots of love and treats from everybody. That is not the case at every restaurant, let me tell you. The food was delicious. Bring an empty stomach, it's huge portions! The restaurant itself is in an really old former school, where Karl Marx did his Abitur, so thats also Special. Interieur is really nice and it has a nice ambience. We came as a couple but it is really well suited for groups. All in all: you feel and see that here are people working that care. Thank you for an amazing evening!

Delicious food. Wonderful service. Great atmosphere! We shared an entire, appetizer, and dessert. We had the spinach puffs, gnocchi, and crème brûlée for dessert. Lots of vegan/ vegetarian options!! 10/10 on the flavor of the food. We had a free wine glass from Walking Wjne Trier Tour (which we also recommend). The wine was great with the meal.

Excellent restaurant and winery with an unassuming vibe. The outdoor seating courtyard is surrounded by a wall and there’s an entry but we walked right pass it at first. The garden-filled courtyard is huge, lots of tables that are spread out so there’s a relaxed feel. Dinner was served on pottery plates and bowls which added to the rustic country feel. The food was fantastic. I had the homemade spatzel. highly recommend. My husband had the schnitzel which we said was the best he had the whole trip through Germany. The Germans have two pours for wine–a half glass (.1) and a full glass (.2). and the price is just over half for the half glass, fair enough. We wanted to taste several wines so we asked for a flight which they don’t do without prior notice but the waitress (who spoke excellent English) did offer to bring a series of 3 wines (half pour) across our meal time with 3 different wines according to our preferences and choice of meal for $15 which was actually a dollar more than if we had just chosen ourselves, but we felt this was worth it for her time. We both did it so we got 6 different wines which was a nice experience. We wound up buying one bottle. They served their own label and other local wineries without bias. Die Speisekarte was in English and German.

Just OK. Not bad, just not "great". Having read a fair few of the other reviews I would have to agree that my dinner and dining experience was similar to those that also gave a 3 star ( or less) rating. I had the ravioli pasta filled with sheep's cheese, sounded interesting on the menu but lacked any discernible flavour, serving was large and if you just want a big, carby, meal to fill a hole this would do the trick. My beloved had the schnitzel which she said was very good and that she enjoyed it. Wait staff were ok, not great, so overall it is just OK

🥢A poke at the @yongyongtrier🥢 I like the design of this asian restaurant (next time I make some photos), they combine food with a design shop. Also it's great that the taste of the food is like homemade and it seems to consist less or none instant products like asian food in normal restaurants. . 🤔 Let's speak about the disadvantages now. I was here the second time and both times the portions were too small for the price. The food was fresh, but both times it tasted a bit boring. This time the combination was quite interesting like mango, nori and ananas, but something was still missing. Cannot explane what exact. . Maybe I will come here again because it's really important for me to eat fresh and homemade food. I just hope that it will be a bit tastier 🙂

I can surely give at least 4 stars for its food, service, and atmosphere. The terrible thing is that they do not take any payment other than cash and German bank cards. And as a customer, I had to walk 10mins to cash out at ATM. Call me overreacting, I don't think this type of mentality would take the local economy much further in the new world. Be sure you have enough cash or using a German card.

If you love lemon grass soup, you'll likely enjoy this place. I've tried ramen noodles in Japan, which appear similar - but tastes better than this from my point of view. The atmosphere is a bit "bio/green/fairtrade" style - though I did not see such explicit branding. It's fairly popular during lunch. They also appear to sell some expensive Nordic designer clocks that are displayed on their walls (with price tags).

Bagatelle Trier is a French bistro offering authentic and refined cuisine from across the border. The menu features classics like Quiche Lorraine, Coq au Vin, and Crème Brûlée, as well as modern creations such as salmon tartare or goat cheese salad. The restaurant exudes a charming and cozy atmosphere with its red-and-white checkered tablecloths, floral arrangements, and French music.
Certainly worth giving Bagatelle a try. We enjoyed our dinner here. The menu was creative and most dishes were delicious. The service was good too and we enjoyed interacting with Priscilla. That said, there are some areas for improvement. One, entering the restaurant is very awkward. Where is the maitre d' stand? When we walked in, it felt like we were intruding on the other diners. Two, while most dishes were delicious, there were quite a few that were too salty which detracted from their enjoyment. Three, while the service was good, the staff could use more training. For example, we were not offered the wine list and we wish to have heard the story behind each dish instead of just the list of ingredients. Overall, we did enjoy our time here and do recommend it.

From the moment you step into this exceptional restaurant, you know you're in for something special. The atmosphere is warm yet refined, with every detail thoughtfully curated to create a welcoming and intimate dining experience. But what truly sets this place apart is the extraordinary food. The menu is a masterpiece in itself — a harmonious blend of creativity, tradition, and precision. Each dish is a celebration of flavor, expertly balancing bold and subtle notes with perfect structure and finesse. The ingredients are clearly of the highest quality, and the seasonal selections highlight the chef's deep respect for fresh, local produce. What impressed me most was the meticulous attention to the composition of each plate. The textures — whether crisp, creamy, tender, or crunchy — are perfectly aligned, creating a multi-dimensional taste experience that lingers long after the last bite. Every course flows into the next with thoughtful rhythm, showcasing not just culinary skill, but true artistry. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, adding another layer of excellence to the evening. This restaurant is more than just a place to eat — it's a destination for anyone who truly appreciates the craft of fine dining. I left inspired, satisfied, and already planning my next visit.

NY eve dinner in one of (if not the best) restaurants in Trier Great and efficient service, charming ambience in front of Mosel river. Each dish was deliciously prepared with fresh products and not too many ingredients (unnecessary complications as often happen in other Michelin star restaurants) with focus on the product itself Wine pairing was nice but without big names (focused on Mosel area wines) which could improved but it’s a question of personal taste. Subjectively I would prefer some French wines instead but as said it’s just my humble opinion This restaurant definitely worth to pay a visit Thanks to service team and the chef
Alon L — Google review
We had a great evening at Bagatelle. There is no doubt food is creative, well presented and delicious. Products are well chosen and cooked and the whole menu was harmonious. It's a very small restaurant with a good romantic vibe. The downside, like anywhere else in Germany for stars restaurants, prices are incredibly high for 'just' a one star restaurant.
Xxx ( — Google review
Another fine dining restaurant in Trier worth trying is Bagatelle. It is a smaller, more cozy setting. Combine it with a stroll along the river for an enjoyable evening.

Fantastic evening. The food was exceptional, we had five courses with various amouses bouches and every single course was a winner. Service was impeccable with excellent pacing, we were never rushed or left hanging. It was an autumn evening so we were indoors rather than in the terrace and it is a lovely room, the style is elegant but relaxed. Very strongly recommended. The menu is not available in English so if your German is not great I suggest checking online before you go and getting a Google translation

Love the concept! We could try many dishes from around the world. Not sure how authentic they are, but they tasted good. We needed to wait for 6 minutes before ordering the next dish. I would recommend not go inside. The architectural design will cook you and suffocate you from inside. The glass covering used to protect the baths will act as a convection oven for anyone inside. As for the baths itself, there is much to see for the money you pay. Most of it could be seen from the outside of the glass building without paying a single penny. We had to leave before completing the while tour since my girlfriend started suffocating.

Tucked away in the picturesque city of Trier, Cafe Konditorei Razen is a delightful spot that beckons tea lovers and breakfast enthusiasts alike. This charming café seamlessly blends traditional charm with modern flair, making it an ideal destination for a leisurely afternoon or a cozy breakfast. Renowned among locals for its exceptional croissants—especially the unique cinnamon variant that resembles a Swedish cinnamon roll—this café takes pride in serving beautifully arranged meals on wooden boards.
We had breakfast for 2 at Café Razen and we loved it. The quality of the food and drinks was just as good as the service. Our breakfast was served with champagne, freshly pressed orange juice and 2 petit fours as well. We liked the variation of baked goods (croissant, brioche, dark bread slices, 2 types of bread rolls) and the Humus, cheese and meat served with it. We felt very good there and can't await to return to try more of their breakfast menu. Make sure you reserve a table a couple of days in advance if you want to have brunch on a weekend day.

Nice and cosy place for breakfast or coffee. Non-chain bakeries are rare in Germany so this gem is the place to go for more non-industrial bread. In summer, their homemade ice-cream is a must. Reservation recommended especially at weekends.

One of the best breakfast experiences ever !! We ordered scrambled eggs with Chives which was served with bread and butter and a salad on the sides , then we had coffee which came with a delicious little cookie and the best part , though hesitating we ended up ordering a Apple cake and i feel that was the best decision ever. That was best ever Apple cake that i had tasted in Germany and believe me when i say, i have been travelling to various parts of Germany since the year 2014. The people in the cafe were so gracious , generous and so helpful. We are definitely going back there and will always Cafe Razen in all our Trier visits in the future. We were so immersed in this experience that we forgot to click pictures!! Hope i click something soon and edit this post with some snapshots of real temptations 😊.

Terrible service – avoid this place. I booked a table for 10 people for my birthday with a per-person breakfast package that was supposed to include eggs, as confirmed in person the day before. I also purchased separately a full cake from them and agreed to pay separately for drinks. When we arrived, we were shocked to find only two tiny plates of cheese and ham, along with a few small spreads (see photo) and mainly on the both sides of the table, almost nothing much in the middle for guests sitting in the middle— barely enough for three people, let alone ten. It was embarrassing and disappointing. To make matters worse, they suddenly claimed eggs weren’t included, despite clear prior confirmation two times by her younger colleague. When I raised this, the older woman with glasses was extremely rude and unprofessional. She said her colleague made a mistake because she didn’t know ,and “This is what you get on your table or you leave,” and offered no honest apology or solution to make things better. This was very dishonest of them and they didn’t take any accountability for their error about eggs being included. The younger staff member who gave the wrong info was kind and respectful — I don’t blame her and even her other colleagues were very kind— but only the older woman’s behavior was very unacceptable and ruined the entire experience. She later explained in rude way the breakfast was “all you can eat,” and that when we finish a plate we can ask for more of what we finish, but what they initially served was a joke for a group of 10 — clearly a cost-cutting tactic. Even if it’s an “all you can eat option” the food that we was very basic breakfast with limited options for money that i would get much nicer food in nicer restaurant for the same money & for 10 people. She even charged me for 1 friend who didn’t show up and it’s not like there was specific meals already prepared for 10 people, I would understand that, but if it was an “all you can eat” concept and they put in the beginning food that not even enough for 3 people I’m not sure why it was a problem to cancel the reservation for 1 person. So at the end I paid the price for 10 people for only 9 friends! One of the worst experiences I’ve had. Poor food presentation and selection (only the cake was good), awful service from the older lady, she has zero respect for the customers , and not worth the money. Great gem in Trier. Came for brunch; good coffee, really good gluten free bread, yummy hot sauce available, and lovely outside seating. Recommend!
S T — Google review
The food was delicious and the service really friendly, however, it felt like they were understaffed as we waited like 20-30 minutes to order and even longer to get our food served and there seemed to be only one server working on a Sunday. Otherwise, I will definitely be coming back.
Lola — Google review
Extremely tasty food! We took the lieblings bowl, which sauce was amazing! All the pizzas can be made vegan! Very kind English speaking staff! Nice atmosphere!
Haris M — Google review
We’ve been regular guests at your restaurant because we really enjoy the pizza and the atmosphere. However, we felt compelled to share our disappointment following a recent visit, due to how a situation was handled when we were paying. We had ordered an alcohol-free Radler, but were served one containing alcohol. At the time, we didn’t complain about it, as we understand mistakes can happen. However, when we were splitting the bill and mentioned the “Radler,” the server had trouble finding it in the system. When we pointed to the alcohol-free option on the screen (the one we had originally intended to order), we briefly mentioned that we had been given the wrong drink. At that point, the server told us that the system lists both drinks under the same name, which we understood. However, when we clarified again that we had ordered the alcohol-free version, the server abruptly raised his voice and insisted multiple times that we had ordered the alcoholic Radler, adding that there is no alcohol-free option. If that were truly the case, it would have been helpful to let us know at the time of ordering. Also, the way the menu is written is quite misleading — the words “alcohol-free” are listed directly next to Radler. Even if there was a misunderstanding, we were quite taken aback by the server’s tone and the volume, which even drew attention from other customers. We used to enjoy going to this place. Our experience this time, unfortunately, left us disappointed, and we hope similar situations can be handled with more care in the future.

Food was okay and very overpriced. It took 20 minutes till 2 bowls and bread and hummus was served and hummus didn’t taste like hummus as we know it. It was some thick paste with odd consistency which can’t be even spread on a bread, forget about dipping it.

So far it is the best vegan cafe I visited. The food is super delicious, I think they have a "crazy" good chef. My non-vegan husband was also very impressed. The service is good, English-speaking staff. I recommend to everybody.

From the moment you enter staff greets you with sympathy. Place is very nice, but pity is underground. Depends who likes what. I enjoyed a lot how open and nice is the service, then food arrived and we were all happy. Portions are big, fulfilling and presented in interesting towers. We took few different lemonades are all of them were delicious! When I will be around, definitely come by.
Agata — Google review
Amazing food. As an allergene person, this place is amazing. The service is amazing and the food is to die for. Would 100% recommend and will definitely go back again
Kristina — Google review
Presentation excellent. Food fantastic. Lemonades are so good. The only thing I can say I didn’t like was how dark it is for the atmosphere. (It’s just not something I like) I got a ginger lemonade and it was sweet. Very good. They are kid friendly and have high chairs if needed. The staff is so nice and you won’t feel rushed to order. I will definitely be going again. We had a larger group so we got reservations. I’d recommend making a reservations even for two because they can get pretty packed.
Ivy F — Google review
Apparently, Google thought my eleborate review was against their policy. I wrote in an eleborate way how my experience with HH Asia Gourmet was pleasant. It got rejected by Google, and now I have to write a review that is less praising. I went to this restaurant alone and asked if it was possible to get a table for one. This was not a problem. I got seated and ordered food. The homemade lemonade is a very nice refreshing drink. I got the Thai basil lemonade twice. I ordered gyozas and the gourmet surpise dish. Both were delicious. The staff was very friendly and the food was fresh. I will come again next time I visit Trier.
Robert ( — Google review
I had a Thai Curry with duck and it was delicious. I haven’t had an Asian food this good for a long time. I also really enjoyed my mint tea. I was impressed how it was prepared, with fresh mint leaves, a slice of lime, kumquat and I received a pot of honey instead of sugar! Amazing! The waitress was super nice as well.
Milena L — Google review
I absolutely love this place. The food is Vietnamese fusion and it’s pretty good 😍 The mango yogurt drink I got was out of the world: it’s tangy, sweet and creamy. We got a pho, tempura role and stir fried udon. The most beautiful dish was the tempura role: it’s hot and crunchy but full of fresh fish inside. The udon was seasoned very very well. It has the smoky flavor from a wok. The pho was decent. I’ve had better pho but this one is an average dish here. They also came and pour something in the jar and the smoke came out and made it look like cloud in the table ☁️☁️☁️
Quinn C — Google review
The best restaurant where I was in the last 5+ years. Even maybe ever... All the food were delicious: sushi was great and a lot, duck was so tasty and soft and even the kid menu was so tasty... Even that was just sweet potato + chicken. One of my reservation I asked a small cake for birthday. They served as a surprise, absolutely discrete . They were perfect again, really glad for it. I can count on them. The interior is nice, the music is calm, staff also kind. Even the prices are not high. In brief : perfect.
Rung I — Google review
A tasty and quiet place. The food is excellent and the service is good. It is great and the menu is plenty. The price is inviting. The only minus is, that the entrance looks like a bath and is not accessible by a wheelchair.

Hiking area
The Römerpfad Premiumwanderweg, also known as the Roman Path, is a 10 km hiking trail located just outside of Trier. This picturesque route takes hikers through the woods and offers various points of interest such as an old mine, the ruins of Ramstein castle, rope bridges over waterfalls, and the breathtaking Genoveveahohle Cave. The approximate time breakdown for the hike includes several key points along the way.
Here is the approximate km and time break down for the hike: Starting from the parking lot: point 1 - at 0.75km 0:05h point 2 - at 2km 1:00h point 3 - skipped (probably extra 15min) point 4 - at 3km 1:30h point 5 - at 4.9km 2:00h point 6 - at 5.7km 2:15h point 7 - at 7.2km 2:50h point 8 - at 8.2km 3:05h Finish - at 9.7km 3:50h The part with waterfalls is quite slippery. I recommend wearing hiking boots.

Lovely café with the best sweets. The schwarzwälder Kirschtorte was scrumptious, coffee was very good. Staff friendly and location vintage and cozy. Loved it ☕🍰🧁☕

My friend and I had a lovely time coming in on a Wednesday afternoon for some cake and tea and cappuccino. There were a nice variety of cakes to pick from and it was hard to make a decision. Each treat was delicious and we enjoyed sipping on our drinks and nibbling on our cakes. The staff was friendly and it was a truly lovely time together. Thank you for the delicious treats!

Cake didn't really taste so well. In addition employees here are really lost. If you want "trinkgeld" you have to be more obvious and at least kind and not that you take a money away and never come back because I didn't say anything.

Kreuzgang im Dom St. Peter, located in Trier, Germany, is the oldest cathedral in the country, dating back to 326 AD. Built by Roman Emperor Constantine the Great at the same time as St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, this historical site boasts impressive architectural styles and features such as towers and gargoyles visible from its courtyard.
What a beautiful green oasis! The cloister can be entered from within Saint Peter's Cathedral or secondary entrance located at Hinter dem Dom street. It was free of charge and unlike most other cloisters this one was open to the public, therefore I was able to walk on the grass, among plants and admire sculptures like the one of Three Angeles from up close. The arched hallways around the cloister provide beautiful picture opportunities and frankly a bit of a shadow on a hot sunny day. On the storyboards around visitors can learn about how the cathedral looked through centuries and also how damaged it got during war. Towards the entrance to Church of Our Lady nice colored stained glass windows can be spotted. Visited in July 2022.
