Beer hall
German restaurant
Brauhaus FRÜH am Dom is a traditional German beer hall located just a short walk from the iconic Cologne Cathedral. Established in the early 1900s, this old-world restaurant offers homestyle dishes such as sausage, potatoes, and schnitzel. It's known for serving fresh Kolsch beer from wooden barrels and boasts a cozy beer garden at the rear of the venue.
We experienced wonderful flavors in a beautiful historical building. The waiter was very polite and helpful. The meat was prepared perfectly. We enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere was nice. I will definitely come back on my next visit to Cologne.
Bekir K — Google review
The beer, atmosphere, and service were excellent. The schnitzel was also delicious, but the lack of sauce made it feel a bit dry. Beer is served in a standard 20cl glass, but if you finish it, they automatically bring you a new one. If you don't want one, just let them know.
HY K — Google review
A true taste of German gastronomy. The meal was hearty and filling — tender meat, potatoes, dumplings, apple sauce, and rich thick gravy. The highlight was the local beer on tap, smooth with a slight sweetness, perfectly matching the food. The ambiance felt like an old German tavern, warm and lively with many patrons enjoying their time. A wonderful dining experience.
Evita H — Google review
The staffs were very friendly and polite. The Kölsch were fresh and light. The pork knuckle was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portion was huge, as expected, so we also ordered a salad to pair with the pork knuckle and it makes for a more balanced meal! All in all a good experience ☺️
Chris — Google review
My husband and I spent a night in Köln before heading to Amsterdam and we found that typical German restaurant after visiting the cathedral. What a jewel! It's more like a museum than a brewery, full of church relics. I couldn't resist talking a bunch of pictures. Even the WC resembles a dungeon in a castle. They kept bringing this delicious beer in small glasses and we shared a dish called Brauhauspfanne. First class service, all waiters were lovely and smiling. Even the manager was nice. By the end of the evening, we were very glad we found that place. We returned to our hotel, with a full tummy, spirits elevated, and a million dollars sensation.
Sigrid S — Google review
I tried the roasted pork knuckle, which was decent. I was hoping for a crispier skin, similar to the roasted pork, but it wasn’t quite as satisfying. The flavour was good, and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, but it’s a bit confusing inside. Perhaps it’s because it’s in an old building, the bathroom smell was a bit funky. The server was very busy and took a while to bring us our water and condiments, but maybe that’s just the pace in Cologne?
Angel — Google review
Do not eat here, bad food, bad service. First off we were greeted by the crankiest waiter, kids were screaming and running around the terrace and knocking into chairs while doing it for at least 10 minutes until they left. We then ordered the potatosoup, the schweinschnitzel and the ofenfrischer schweinebraten. The schnitzel should not have been called a schnitzel - this was the fattest clump of meat ever, not thin at all and very greasy, very small for what a schnitzel should be in Germany (yesterday we ate somewhere where it was at least twice as big, whilst being cheaper). The bread served with the potatosoup was burnt and the ofenfrischer schweinebraten was too dry to chew, with the sauce being gloopy and relatively cold. (We did not have to pay for this after discussing it with the manager, since we did not even eat more than 3 bites.) Drinks were ok, fries were fine, soup was fine... just not outstanding in the slightest. Not worth the effort not the price.
Elena O — Google review
The food was really good, not sure why this place only has 4.3 stars, because it was tender, full of taste, great potatoes, full package! The beer was also really good and even though it was middle of the day, the staff was working super quick and smooth. It's super close to the cathedral, so when you come to Cologne, it's easy to find and good to sit down and rest. I would really recommend this place, we had a great time and great beer there!

Night club
Flamingo Royal is a vibrant nightclub located in Cologne, offering an upscale and stylish setting for party enthusiasts. The venue pays homage to Miami South Beach and hosts a variety of events, from glamorous parties to Rocker Nights and even Poetry Slams. With its chic interior, low-lit booth seating, and cocktail lounge, it provides an exclusive club experience for night owls.
A small nightclub, with not much variety and very expensive drinks. However, it was absolutely packed out, so if you are after a hot sweaty time where you can rub up against your fellow students, this is the place :) Had a fairly friendly and welcoming vibe.
Andrew ( — Google review
First of all, it was my first time attending this club as i’m from amsterdam and i went to visit friends. First impression was alright regular club with long lines but me and my friends got a table and we spent atleast 1.2k that night just for an employee to come to our table and say that my friend is too drunk yet she was sitting down and didn’t intrude anyone and for them to come back later and say they found a condom from her in the bathroom even though she was with us the whole time and whenever she went to the toilet i would go with her and i can assure anyone reading this that i made sure no one went in with her. So we head outside for some fresh air and the security wouldn’t allow her back in unless we paid €50???? so we went ahead and just left as the entire group even tho we were the only group that spent most that night. A*sholes
Aimee-Lien V — Google review
Don’t go there. The staff is extremely rude, and the selection at the entrance is completely senseless. The bouncer slapped a guy who was simply talking to him. A place to avoid.
Alessia S — Google review
“Had a terrible experience at this nightclub. I made a reservation well in advance, but when we arrived, they had no record of it and left us waiting for over 30 minutes. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and didn’t seem to care at all. Definitely not the kind of service I expected after booking ahead. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!”
Rakhosh M — Google review
The guards are completely dumb. We were 8 people well dressed / men with shirts, girls with dresses/ and the main guard says: no sporty wear???
Борис Б — Google review
Staff avoiding contact with customers, and when approached, respond with shouting and generally very unpleasant experience. Definitely avoid
Medard S — Google review
Wasn't allowed entrance on 3 different occasions and nights. 🤔 2x I was actually invited by patrons of the party at flamingo. 🙌 🙌 🙌 I'm not sure if I want to attempt again.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Cologne, Gaffel am Dom - Brauhaus is a charming traditional eatery that captures the essence of German hospitality. With its inviting garden terrace and vibrant atmosphere often enhanced by live music, this establishment is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in regional delicacies.
The minute we arrived at Cologne station at about10.30am we were looking for food. We decided to get some light bites since it is a bit too early for lunch in this restaurant right opposite the station and ordered some small bites and appertizers as well as drinks. Is our first German food experience and we like it. I believe the place is popular for lunch as it gets more crowded later on.
Den D — Google review
Very solid experience at this Brauhaus. I went twice on my trip and the food was great both times. A delicious (and huge) grilled pork knuckle; very flavorful and melt-in-your mouth Himmel und Ääd (blood sausage with buttery mash and chunky apple sauce). Taking a point off for the service, which was mixed. When I went in the evening, the server was quite amiable and spoke some English and tried to be helpful. When I went at lunchtime the server was curt, didn’t speak much at all, and had an attitude like he’d rather be doing anything than serving you (and this at 11:30am around opening!) I think with a bit of server training and accountability, this restaurant could be one of the best in the Dom area.
R — Google review
Strategic place to have a restaurant. Right in front of the cathedral. Is a casual vibe, and I didn’t order something big. But the meatball and the pretzel were good. The service was great. The young lady with the ponytails was extremely nice and helped me choose something to eat.
Heidy T — Google review
Busy and vibrant restaurants with a very convenient location to the Cologne Cathedral. Food was good. Seemed a bit touristy (we were tourists and eating there so not in a bad way.) so if you’re looking for a more local vibe check elsewhere.
Samantha R — Google review
Absolutely loved it here. We sat outside overlooked by the cathedral soaking up the sun but there was also plenty of seating indoors if you preferred that. The staff here were great and very quick to keep your glass topped up which we liked probably a bit too much but the beer was incredible. Although we didn’t have food, plenty round us did and it looked decent. We had several visits here so definitely one of the better bars in the city centre!!
Andy D — Google review
The best food experience we had in Cologne thanks to delicious food, excellent service and great view over Cologne’s largest ( literally) attraction: Cologne cathedral. We wanted to try local dishes and here was almost everything to be found except for Rheinischen Sauerbraten which we found at another restaurant with less good service. Let’s talk about Gaffel am Dom service. We had this charming waiter who was fast, efficient, firm with do and don’ts - always with a smile and humorous attitude. We like the straight forward attitude that is efficient and no fuss. Especially when packaged with a smile and a gentle hand such as this guy. The routine of refilling Kölsch went smoothly and we just love how refreshing and easily the beer slips down the throat. Served in small glasses it never had a chance of getting lukewarm.
Alexandra S — Google review
As soon as you take your last sip of Kölsch, a fresh one appears right away! The fastest service ever. The schnitzel with pepper sauce was also great.
Thomas O — Google review
Pleasant atmosphere. Service was okay and beer was really good. I didn’t really like the food I had schnitzel with fries and salad. Schnitzel was not good and the texture was kind of gross, the fries were alright but I didn’t get any sauce tho, salad was fine. But what makes me not want to come back is the fact that I have seen a mouse…

Beer hall

Pub
Peters Brauhaus is a historic brewery and restaurant located in Cologne, known for its cozy and intimate atmosphere. Dating back to 1544, it is the oldest brewery in the city and offers a wide selection of Cologne specialties to accompany its signature Kolsch beer. The establishment features a stained-glass ceiling, oak paneling, and communal feasting tables for an authentic beer hall experience.
Read about the restaurant and was recommended. Really appreciate the fast serving as we had only one hour to catch the train. Pork knuckles were so good and tasty, although the skin is not as crispy but we still love it!
Den D — Google review
Wonderful restaurant. The waiters are older gentlemen who are kind and good with the speed of service. The food was very good and delicious. The pork knuckle with fried bacon potatoes was exquisite, a must try. It was much bigger than I expected but worth the money and fantastic. Mind that after 5:30PM, it gets crowded with long queues outside, as this is a super popular place. Atmosphere is mid but the tasty food and staff make up for it. Enjoy.
Prince C — Google review
Peters Brauhaus – A True Taste of Cologne’s Tradition If you’re looking for an authentic German dining experience in Cologne, Peters Brauhaus is an absolute must-visit. The moment you walk in, you can feel the soul of the place — it’s clearly a historic and beloved restaurant, full of character, warmth, and tradition. I was genuinely blown away by the quality of the food. Everything tasted like it came straight from a local family kitchen, made with care and history behind every bite. I had the mashed potatoes with turkey, sauerkraut, roasted vegetables, and crispy fried potatoes — every single item was perfectly seasoned, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. You can tell that this place takes pride in every dish they serve. The restaurant was bustling with guests, and what stood out was that it wasn’t just tourists — it was full of local people who clearly love and respect this place. That alone says a lot. Whether you’re a visitor or a local, Peters Brauhaus captures the true spirit of Cologne’s culinary culture. Amazing atmosphere, excellent service, and food you’ll be dreaming about long after you’ve left.
Alex S — Google review
We had a great evening. The kölsch was quite good but sadly they don't brew it themselves (apparently they used to make beer back in the days but not anymore). Apple strudel was quite good. Highly recommend making a reservation beforehand.
Aylin F — Google review
Bratwurst: a bit dry and firm (overcooked?) but nice enough Potato salad: very nice Kolsch beer: nice Strudel: a bit dry and bland but ok Service: very good Atmosphere: lovely Price: fair Friday evening, busy, but all staff seemed helpful and in a good mood. Likewise, the diners - everyone pleased with their meals. This was brauhaus number three, for me, and it compared favourably. Recommend.
K N — Google review
its actually impressively good! i really liked the food and the atmosphere is quite cool. all deserts are literally magnificent and the main dishes that my family ordered were really good:) the sausages are also very good!! really recommend.
Yeojinni — Google review
Welcoming atmosphere with a less than 10min wait around 1930 on a Monday evening. Service was ok but had an odd interaction with one waiter who seemed to refuse to get me a custard with my apple strudel even though I ordered it along with the ice cream and whipped cream, thought he was joking at first but it did not come. After 10mins managed to get the attention of our main waiter who realised it was missing and got it right away. But not a reason to not give 5 stars as food was very nice with generous portions. Had the halve Hahn for starters, beef with raisin sauce and dumplings and turkey for mains, apple strudel and windbeute for dessert. Very nice decor. Definitely recommend.
Marc — Google review
A traditional restaurant, worth trying if you want to experience local food for the first time. What you should know is that German cuisine is heavy, so it depends on your taste. In one word, we liked it.

Brauhaus Sünner im Walfisch is a charming beer hall housed in a historic 17th-century building, which was once the location of the medieval brewery 'Heinrich zur Krae.' The brewery offers its own delicious Kölsch beer and serves up a menu featuring traditional German dishes such as Himmel & Aad, broad beans with bacon and fried potatoes, and Rhenish sauerbraten.
The beer is tasting very light and fresh! I like it a lot. And ordered pork knuckle as every time visiting Germany. This size is ok for me, the sauerkraut is a bit different than my memory, but good anyway, so does the mash potatoes!
Lily C — Google review
Very good beerhouse. I did not try the beer as they are not gluten-free. My colleagues liked the beer. The dinner came fast (relatively) despite the beerhouse was full. The food was nicely served. I went for the safe gluten-free version: potatoe, sauerkraut and pork chop. The others ordered hamburgers and they looked amazing. They reay enjoyed it.
Annie S — Google review
I really like their Kölsch. The food was very tasty. The staff was very friendly. I am looking forward to being back
Aysen I — Google review
Two visits: first was excellent, second was not. First: efficient and pleasant service and, probably, the best bratwurst I've ever had. Second: chicken schnitzel was ok, but the service was not. Efficient? Yes. Pleasant? No. It seems that using your beermat to correct the wobble of your table, when that beermat has your beer tally on it, is a capital offence. For context, it was not busy, the waitress was the only person serving my area and I'd had two 200ml beers. Despite this, I received an overlong lecture on how bad it was to destroy the tally beermat. A short clarification of local custom would have been fine, but a long/repetitive lecture was tedious, annoying, and she made it clear that, in her opinion, it was the action of a dishonest person. She 'forgave' me, on this occasion, but I'm sure she'd call the police the next time I attempted to steal more €2 beers (this is how it felt). Youth lacks experience and so can be over zealous and over simplify - that's forgivable, but there's a limit and this waitress passed it! In summary: great bratwurst, but not worth being lectured by a child and being accused of the theft of cheap beer.
K N — Google review
Had 2 visits here whilst in Cologne. 1st visit for just drinks and second visit for food. Can't fault the service or food. Highly recommend booking a table tho because it gets RIDICULOUSLY busy..
Mark B — Google review
Great traditional beer house. We came at lunchtime on a weekend and luckily got a table as a big party since it wasn’t busy yet. It was filling up though. Food is a bit pricey but you pay for the place and it is good German food. The service is very good, staff were very helpful in English. The atmosphere in this timber-framed building is great!
Kat — Google review
Very atmospheric dining experience in an old brewery - they've done a great job of maintaining the old world charm of the place. Service was pretty quick and the food was really good. It's really crowded, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The air-conditioning is a blessing on hot summer days 😁

Cocktail bar
Seiberts - Classic Bar & Liquid Kitchen is a renowned establishment in Cologne, known for its vintage-style decor and exceptional cocktails. The bar's tiled courtyard filled with plants adds to its unique charm. It has gained international recognition and is considered one of the best bars globally, even making it into the book '150 Bars You Need to Visit Before You Die.' The ambience exudes a feel-good atmosphere with high ceilings, chandeliers, and original Chesterfield sofas.
It is one of the nicest bars and they definitely deserve it. It was a great experience! There is a glass door at the entrance and one needs to ring the bell to get in. Once let in, it is a cosy small place with stools at the bar and a couple of tables. I ordered the Crown of Ginger Lemonade it was a gin based cocktail and was delicious. I was sitting on a bar stool and got the honor to watch the bartenders create various cocktails. All of them looked appealing. Prices are slightly elevated but I believe it's worth the experience. I would be happy to go there again.
Ezgi Ö — Google review
A delightful surprise, recommended by a friend this was our first visit to Seiberts. A cocktail bar that cocktail makers visit for pleasure. Seiberts has become our favourite place of all, in Köln. As a non drinker I am nearly always disappointed with the non alcoholic drinks offered but this is certainly not the case with Seiberts, amazing complex flavours beautifully presented at remarkably democratic prices.
Tim S — Google review
Excellent cocktails, service and atmosphere! As an American living in Germany, one of the things I miss is great cocktails. A girl can only take so many aperol spritzes 🤪 The cocktails are creative and impressive (pictures do not do them justice) and delicious!!! The menu is extensive and you have to try at least two. The place is so cozy and quaint and full of character. It is cozy hence no parties larger than 4 to sit together. The service is professional and we appreciated the servers’ assistance in selecting drinks, recommendations and humor. We are bookmarking this place to come back to!!! FYI they do not take reservations and depending on time, they may be full and you may have to wait. We lucked out and were seated immediately.
Sujin W — Google review
A cozy cocktail bar with variety of options. The staffs are friendly and helpful. They give great recommendations if you are not sure what to choose. The atmosphere of the bar is nice and not too loud that people can enjoy a nice conversation.
T. T — Google review
It is a cozy speakeasy in Cologne. The cocktails are nice. We came for a pre-dinner drink on Saturday. It was a bit of a discussion as we might have not fully fit the ‘casual chic’ dresscode. Yet the owner made an exception and let us in. We enjoyed the Porn Star Martini and the La Vie Est Belle, Champagne and pear, cocktails. The latter was a little flat. The service was very attentive and helpful. We sat on the terrace which felt a bit like sitting in a night club with its face-to-face arrangement. Enjoy!
Elephant R — Google review
I had an amazing experience at this cocktail bar! Everything was absolutely perfect – from the atmosphere and music to the exceptional service and, of course, the cocktails. Each drink was expertly crafted, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but it's completely justified by the outstanding quality you receive. You're not just paying for a drink – you're getting a top-tier cocktail experience. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast or just looking for a cosy night out, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Anke V — Google review
Wow what an experience! It started off with ringing a bell outside to be let in. Once inside it’s quite a small place with an amazing bar and a couple of tables and chairs. Additionally, there is a small outside space with some seating options. However, the heart of the Seiberts is the bar and it’s knowledgeable bartenders. Our bartender asked about preferences and mixed a cocktail tailored to what we like. The drinks tasted great and we were happy to pay the elevated prices! Definetly a place for a special occasion

Very nice cocktails and friendly service from the bar staff but I do not recommend sitting inside on a hot day. It gets very stuffy and you cannot change your seat once you agree to sit inside even if a spot opens up outside. But other than that everything was fine.

Cologne Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic architecture, stands as a majestic landmark in the heart of Cologne. Its grand facade is just the beginning; visitors can embark on guided tours that not only delve into its rich history but also offer breathtaking views of the Rhine River. The vibrant city surrounding this iconic cathedral is alive with culture and charm, from medieval markets to lively carnival celebrations.
Insanely impressive. Words cannot describe how magnificent this cathedral is. It is absolutely incredible in person. The sheer size of this place is mind blowing. Climbing the tower is tough, but I highly recommend it. This cathedral is worth making a stop in Cologne.

Majestic…. In every angle. Firstly a great place of worship. A great prayer hall, architecture, gothic at is best. The entrances from east and west are not to be missed of its details. The north with two mighty towers offers best of it. The huge windows with itched glasses depicting various holy characters are worth watching in details. It takes one full day to enjoy this place in and out.

Utterly breathtaking and awe inspiring Cathedral. Immensely beautiful, clean and free to enter. Excellent support service in the Information centre. Many lovely older worlde cafes nearby.Toilets outside the Cathedral are clean and well maintained.

The Cologne Cathedral is absolutely amazing and breathtaking! Its enormous size and stunning Gothic architecture make it one of the most impressive landmarks I’ve ever visited. Even though it’s often crowded, everything feels well organized, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and respectful. It’s also right next to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), so it’s very easy to reach — perfect for a quick stop or a longer visit. The gift shop is lovely, with nice souvenirs and books about the cathedral’s history. I especially recommend visiting on rainy days — the interior feels even more magical and calming, with the sound of rain outside and the light coming through the stained glass windows. Truly a must-see spot in Cologne!

Huge structure with fantastic works of art and acoustics! Interesting borehole to the underground foundations. Fun, and slightly disorienting spiral climb on narrow stairs to the belfry and then all way to the steeple of one of the spires! Parking can be found in an underground garage very close by. Lots of interesting people to watch both outside and in!

Went here during day time and night time and both times I was in awe with the size and just how grandeur the cathedral was. A wonderful place to visit when you’re in Cologne. There’s some renovation happening currently with how long it usually takes, it might still be there in the next couple of years. It’s quite busy but since it’s huge, you won’t really feel like it’s too crowded.

The Cologne Cathedral is majestic, standing tall for hundreds of years yet still so beautiful. Its Gothic architecture is stunning from every angle. Stepping inside feels calm and peaceful, a place where time slows down. The vast, light-filled interior carries a sense of serenity and peace that calms the soul. Visiting this cathedral is not just about admiring its grandeur, but also about feeling its quiet, timeless presence. A wonderful experience I’ll never forget.

Nice part of the city, lots to see, do and places to eat around. Structure looks amazing against the skyline and dominates. Inside is stunning and the tower climb was worth the 600 odd steps to the top.

Nestled in the heart of Cologne, Museum Ludwig is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Once the private collection of Peter Ludwig, this museum showcases an impressive array of modern art that spans various movements including Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism, and Surrealism. As you explore its vibrant halls, you'll encounter everything from striking paintings to intricate ceramics and thought-provoking sketches.
A fantastic museum for modern and contemporary art lovers. Museum Ludwig has an impressive collection; from Picasso and Warhol to Lichtenstein and contemporary German artists. The layout is spacious and well organized, making it easy to explore at your own pace. Some temporary exhibitions are truly thought-provoking and beautifully curated. The view of Cologne Cathedral from the upper floors is a bonus also. It’s definitely worth spending a couple of hours here. If you enjoy art, don’t skip it while in Cologne.

What a lovely museum; both its architecture and its collections, they are all breathtaking… Museum Ludwig is highly regarded as one of Europe's most significant art museums, particularly for its collection of modern and contemporary art… It has diverse collection, which includes extensive holdings of Pop Art, Picasso, and works from the Russian avant-garde… The museum's architecture and spacious galleries are excellently contributing to a positive experience… Its main key aspects are as below: Extensive Collection: It boasts a vast collection spanning various artistic movements from the 20th and 21st centuries, with notable strengths in Pop Art, Picasso, and Russian avant-garde works… Renowned Artists: You can expect to see works by iconic artists such as Picasso, Warhol, Lichtenstein, Richter, Mondrian, Dali, Kandinsky, Nolde, Kokoschka, Man Ray, Pollack, Miro and many more… Well-Curated Exhibitions: The museum is well-organized and thoughtfully presents exhibitions, offering a mix of established masterpieces and cutting-edge contemporary works… Architectural Design: The building's architecture, including its spacious galleries and natural lighting, is enhancing the overall viewing experience… Location: Situated near the Cologne Cathedral, railway station and the bridge the museum's location is very very convenient… Overall: Museum Ludwig is a high-quality art institution that offers a rewarding experience… Having said all these, need to mention that some visitors suggest that the museum could improve the information provided alongside the artworks, particularly for those less familiar with modern art…

A fantastic museum with an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art, including standout works by Picasso, Warhol, and Lichtenstein. The layout is spacious and well-curated, making it easy to explore at your own pace. Some sections may feel a bit niche or abstract depending on your taste, but overall it’s a must-visit for art enthusiasts. Great location next to the cathedral and worth the visit.

This place is remarkable! This is a museum where every single painting is worth seeing. Of course, the Picasso collection is the most famous and iconic, but you can find plenty of splendid paintings there. My only regret is that I had only 1.5 hours to see this collection.

Located right near the Cologne Cathedral it's a must visit museum in Cologne. It has a rich collection of the modern art and one of the largest collection of Picasso. Traditional Cologne brewery. Lived the atmosphere. Waiters play part of traditional service. Beer is excellent and food very tasty. Price is good
Marat N — Google review
Excellent beer with good service in very traditional surroundings. Seemed a more 'authentic' brew house experience compared to some of the more central tap rooms. Beer is tapped from very old looking barrels in a way that I assume they've been doing for well over 100 years. Didn't eat there but food looked decent enough.

Lovely old-school brauhaus. Service, beer, and atmosphere were good. Reasonable prices too. My food was not hot on arrival, so I felt I needed to eat it quickly, before it cooled down further, but the taste and portion size were good. It was quiet when I went, so the service may be different at busier times.

Quick service we had a Bratwurst and l Käsespätzle and the gherkins, The gherkins were very nice and big in size and the Bratwurst with Potatoes was nice as well, Only the Käsespätzle and the salad that comes with wasn't that nice, it was dry and not the best taste either, I don't suggest it, About the salad the only taste you could get Was the Dressing..

Bierhaus en d'r Salzgass is a charming establishment in Cologne that offers a unique German experience. The venue features wood-paneled walls, huge chandeliers, and a medieval two-story hall, creating an inviting and rustic ambiance. Guests can enjoy the hearty Paffgen-Kolsch and indulge in delicious German cuisine while being entertained by the lively atmosphere and friendly 'grumpy Kobes' service.
Not sure why all the negative reviews. The food was awesome and the beers kept flowing til you put your beermat on top(as is tradition). Our waiter was friendly and quick. He told us once he'd be right back when we flagged him down. I can see how someone might think he was "rude" but he's just busy. While we chatted we watched him take a call while bussing a table and counting how many new beers to bring. He was polite to give suggestion on what food to get (chili hollandaise schnitzel) and chatted if he could. As for them "asking for a tip". That's how it works and is a local custom. Especially if paying by card(which they take), they have to ask so they can put it in to the machine. This was the one "not super touristy" feeling place we went to for food in Köln.
Ian G — Google review
¡AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I don’t give a 0 star review bc it’s not possible. After a few days in Germany, our first day in Cologne we were having a great time and decided to drink one beer. The rudest waiter EVER, we tried to ask for a menu and see what kind of beers they had, the waiter said there’s only one beer (as if we were supposed to know…) but we’ve been to other places with many different beers( don’t think it’s a dumb question…) we asked for a big one and same issue both answers condescending and snobbish. Once our beers we’re served they started making rude and racist jokes in German like we wouldn’t understand what they were saying, they were staring at us saying “tequila” and dancing all around. We felt bad and sad since they were so disrespectful and racist, so we payed the check and asked for the customer complaint form; as we did that they started avoiding the elephant in the room like they didn’t understand what we were asking or saying, also the staff began to be more rude and confronted us. We were so angry we just walked away trying to not care anymore so they followed us through the street shouting at us: “HEY HEY HEY WHATS WRONG HEY” being disrespectful and angry. A thing that in my opinion it shows what kind of people works there. Please if you are a foreigner NEVER GO to this place. There’s many many other amazing places to drink and have a good time.
Yaiza L — Google review
Disappointed by Rude Service We recently had visited this place being first time to Cologne, hoping for a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed uninterested and dismissive. Our server was abrupt, barely made eye contact, and acted as though our questions about the beer selection were a nuisance. At one point, he bluntly said that we should sit somewhere else, although, the host had seated us at his table. He was rude and unprofessional, making us feel unwelcome. We left barely touched our drinks and without possibility of placing an order. A warm, courteous attitude goes a long way in creating a positive atmosphere, and sadly, this was missing here. I strongly suggest avoiding this place. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the importance of hospitality with their team. A little kindness can make all the difference.

I echo all the reviews about the staff! Rudest waiter in the world, never smiled, every question met with disdain and then tried to lecture us about respect about tipping. Very nice and cozy place to spend the evening! Food is very good, the Korean chicken BBQ is the the best I’ve ever had. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Drinks are a bit too expensive, but given the location and the overall experience it’s very fair

Horrible Experience – Rude and Discriminatory Staff! I visited this place on March 9, 2025, with my friends, and we had one of the worst experiences ever. The staff was extremely rude and treated us terribly, possibly because we didn’t order an expensive cocktail – I’m not sure why. At one point, they even threw the paper coasters on the table as if we were animals, which was absolutely unacceptable. There was zero hospitality, and the staff made us feel completely unwelcome. Honestly, it felt discriminatory, if not outright racist. The only good thing about this place is the atmosphere, but with such a terrible attitude from the staff, I would never recommend it to anyone!

Most cosiest cocktail bar in Köln, my best is espresso martini 🍸! The view is amazing here especially if you try to go during sunset time in summer. Cocktails are good and Quick bites are tasty. Stay is friendly and helpful. Better to visit before 7 pm so that u can skip queue else do a reservation. Over weekends it’s quite hectic to table you want.

The drinks are overpriced and they didn‘t taste good at all. The bar itself was overly crowded and we had to squeeze into our chairs because it was so full. The only good thing is the view from the terrace.

A visit to Monkey Bar Cologne is an experience that transcends the ordinary night out. Nestled in the heart of the city, this bar offers an ambiance that's both chic and inviting, making it a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike. The real star of the show at Monkey Bar is Milan, the mixologist. His creativity knows no bounds, and his ability to craft amazing alcohol-free cocktails that tantalize the taste buds is unparalleled. During my visit, Milan was incredibly accommodating, taking the time to understand my preferences and concocting beverages that were nothing short of art in a glass. His passion for mixology shines through in every creation, making each sip a delightful surprise, even without the alcohol. But the allure of Monkey Bar doesn't stop at the bar counter. The views from this establishment are breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista of Cologne that's sure to leave you mesmerized. Whether you're watching the sunset or taking in the city lights, the scenery adds a magical touch to your evening. The food menu is a gastronomic delight, featuring all of our favorites. From the creamy hummus to the flavorful Korean chicken, the crispy falafel, and even the perfectly cooked sweet potato fries, every dish is a culinary masterpiece. Dining at Monkey Bar feels like being in food heaven, with each bite more delicious than the last. The food, service, and atmosphere all complement each other perfectly, creating an environment that's both sophisticated and relaxed. Whether you're looking for a place to unwind after a long day or seeking a unique spot to impress a date, Monkey Bar Cologne has something for everyone. In conclusion, Monkey Bar Cologne is a gem that deserves to be on every traveler's itinerary. With Milan's exceptional mixology skills in crafting alcohol-free delights, the awe-inspiring views, and a menu that will leave you dying in food heaven, it's a place where memories are made. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit, and I can't wait to return.

Located at Rathenauplatz, Rosebud is a well-established bar that has been serving delicious and high-quality cocktails for 28 years. The bar, named after the film Citizen Kane, is now under new ownership since the beginning of the year. With a relaxed and serene atmosphere, this discreet wood-panelled cocktail bar offers an experience of tranquility and elegance. The bartenders are highly knowledgeable and friendly, making them adept at creating dazzling drinks tailored to your preferred spirit.
I visited Rosebud alone and was immediately welcomed and shown to a nice spot. The service was outstanding, with a bartender attending to me throughout, ensuring clear communication and a personalized cocktail experience. To start, I ordered a Whiskey Sour, which was exceptionally well-prepared using Woodford Reserve—a whiskey that pairs perfectly with this cocktail. Upon my request, the bartender kindly let me taste the whiskey neat, allowing me to appreciate how it blends into the cocktail. Impressed by the first round, I went for a second, and it was just as consistent and well-crafted. For my third round, I decided to trust the bartender’s recommendation, treating him as the artist. Since I had already enjoyed two Whiskey Sours, he suggested the Köllefornia Sour. Honestly, it was the best twist on a Whiskey Sour I’ve ever had. Topped with a grape froth, it added a fruity note while preserving the original flavor profile—simply incredible.

The music and the place itself is great, hell even the prices (especially for the drinks) are quite reasonable. However this is now the second time that the people behind the bar are just on a completely different vibe than all the other employees, they are rude, dismissive, and look like they'd rather be anywhere else. Honestly a real shame cause it used to be different.
Jsm — Google review
You get there hoping they still have tickets left to sell at the door, unfortunately they don't. I didn't make any hassle and walked to main street, hoping to find someone with an extra ticket. After politely asking some people, I finally found a group of people with an extra ticket. Yet at the door they still declined me, because I didn't have ticket earlier. Absolute bs, if you don't have a ticket beforehand you better avoid this place.
Barry T — Google review
I have been to Odonien dozens of times. Not just for their raves (which are nothing like the commercial clubs can come close to offering) but also their open air kino, their friday beer garden and special events and concerts. Not once during those visits did I feel out of place or unwanted. The staff has always been nice to me and very welcoming. The crowd at the raves is also super nice, you can feel the acceptance. Sure sometimes some drunk people or teenagers make some fuss but never gets out of hand. Which is a high praise since I can barely manage a sentence in German and often switch to English and I am POC. Odonien is for the masses. ✊️ (I can't say that for every venue in this city) Now if they were to start hosting küfa, it would be very apt for such an anti-establishment place. Odonien is 2nd home.

The Thai basil shot was absolutely delicious, and the grilled cheese was well worth the wait. Although there was a short delay, the excellent service and complimentary drinks made the time pass pleasantly. I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere — clean and comfortable restrooms, friendly staff, and a welcoming vibe throughout. Highly recommend!

Atmosphere: 6/10 Little Link has a casual, approachable vibe with a decent liquor selection behind the bar. There’s a good variety of seating, including plenty at the bar counter and group tables both inside and outside. However, the bar counter’s layout is impacted by a structural column positioned in the middle, which awkwardly divides the space and makes some seats less enjoyable. Music volume is pleasant, and the menu has a creative design. Drinks: 6/10 Recommendation: – The menu is extensive, organized by different themes, and offers a huge selection. Drinks come with good coasters and occasionally unique presentations, but glassware is average and garnishes are basic. Flavor depth is limited — cocktails are still enjoyable but not outstanding. Service: 6/10 No water served on arrival (had to request). The team is friendly, but service level doesn’t feel special. Prices are average for Cologne.

Despite coming 45 min before official closing time we were treated kind of bitchy and rude, saying we could only have something easy like gin-tonic but then after seeing the girls who came with us we the treatment changed shifted towards, choose whatever you want from the menu and even extending closing time and allowing second rounds from the menu. Unreasonable rude. The second drink was so sour that it burned our stomachs. No warning at all. Don’t recommend

It was a little bit difficult to find a place to sit and it took around 30 minutes, but the staff let us order our drinks even without a table with was great. Brewpub
Brauhaus Sion is a charming brewery located in the vibrant heart of Cologne, where history and hospitality blend seamlessly. This establishment has been brewing beer since 1318, making it a cornerstone of local culture. With its inviting dark wood interiors and a lovely terrace, it's the perfect spot to unwind with friends or family.
Great surprise. Walked-in for lunch. Good beer and delicious food. The menu is focused on German traditional dishes. They had a selection of salads if pork is not your thing. Menu was focused on pork knuckle and sausages. The ambiance was nice and calm even though it was mot empty.

Great German brewery, with the local classic Kölsch an absolute must. You can sit inside or outside and enjoy the city atmosphere. We loved the beer, fresh, cold and possibly too easy to drink! A must if you’re coming to Cologne!
Michela Z — Google review
We went to this bar since a local recommended us but the waiter answered us really rude and was not kind. We got a wasp in our beer and we had only one sip of it so we asked if we could change it but the waiter said its your own fault, you need to cover it after every time u drink, he refused to change it so we ordered a new one and we paid for them all. The food was good but he could have been nicer to us!

Our tour guide recommended the Sauerbraten here and we came and ordered it and loved it. Tasted fresh and was a great portion and very delicious. Very clean restaurant as well.
Matthew S — Google review
Our favourite Brauhaus. Pop in (or out weather permitting) for a Kölsch. Drinks only, they prefer cash, understandable and great value at €2:50 per glass. Dinner here was superb, pork knuckle was far better than the riverside restaurants. Blood sausage and mash was sublime.
Adam C — Google review
Needed a late lunch before heading back, so decided on this place. Good was good, plentiful and nicely presented. Staff were very friendly. Location 'near' the Cathedral, but slightly off 'the beaten track ' was ideal. If you do visit here, take a look around inside 😉...... it's massive
Julian P — Google review
I stayed in Sion Hotel so I was thinking why not trying their famous brauhaus? Very good service, the waiter noticed me just going alone so he gave me a nice place on the terrace since there's a company party inside. "It will be too loud for you", and I immediately felt cared for. The food was nice, just not my personal preference as the blood sausage was too oily, that it overwhelmed the potato. The beer, however, was top notch. Unlucky me as on that day they ran out of the famous apple pie. But overall, it's a comforting experience.
Đàm T — Google review
Wonderful brauhaus in the shade of the Dom. My son and I visited after an Effzeh match for a late dinner and a Kolsch. While the inside was packed on this Saturday evening, the outside seating was available, and the waiter was super fast, efficient, and friendly. The beer was outstanding. The food was wonderful as well. We both had the Kölner Dombockwurst with potato salad and were more than pleased with our choice. If you are in the area looking for a bite and a beer, look no further. Prices were reasonable and the location is great.

Awesome club for young people. There are two floors, each with their own music, so you have two styles to choose from to dance too. Nice vibe in there. Went to Keulen with couple of friends and we went there twice

They are thinking you are the dog. They are so rud. The security man think of he is the king. Don't go it is terrible place.

What can I say about this place... The security is good. I saw that a woman asked for help because her friend got attacked, and the security helped instantly. The toilets are a bit cleaner than normal disco toilets. The cleaner is very nice! The barkeepers work a bit slowly and seem not well organized. All in all, it was okay.

Great disco. German music on one of the floors, and you can't pay by card, but otherwise we had great fun. Nice audience too, albeit somewhat young (at least on Friday night)

DJ was not great on Monday. But we could ask musics what made it fine. Also beer for 1 Euro helped to get into the mood. 😅😂

I looked for a toilet and thanks to the staff, they helped me a lot, they said I could use their toilet, it would be very enjoyable to live if such people worked everywhere.

Been coming to the Klapsmühle for over 10 years from Holland. We were never disappointed, each night has been legendary. Buy the "10L fass" and GO! Last time I lost my phone. They were kind enough to send my phone to Amsterdam without cost! Amazing service.

With separate floors, a bar area, and an outdoor space, Artheater provides both energetic party vibes and quiet retreats.
Great disposition between bar and stage, really nice for small gigs. Had a very dark and underground urban tone, it an interesting place and cozy. I have been there for two feet concert. Ordered a few beers and watched the concert. Like most places the stage is just flat without standing stairs and if you are unlucky to have some 2m persons in front of you, you might not be able to watch what's going on but the music is there and the sound was good for the small space. You have security and you can take your beer outside for a table outside and the bar has a nice decor inside.

We had tickets for an event and the bouncer at the door wouldn‘t let us in based on arbitrary accusations over my friend not being able to walk because he's drunk (he didn’t have a single drink). He told us to go and have a walk for 30 minutes. We talked to the bouncer and he clearly saw my friend isn‘t drunk. He is just playing with power.

It was a great performance at a great venue. The atmosphere is great, dim but lively. Great sound system with crystal clear highs and brain rattling subs. Just knowing you're underneath the tracks gives it a special feeling to me. You've also got place to sit down and chat outside and in the seating area by the entrance. Clean and overall a good time. Would recommend!

I'm new to Germany and went to this club on Friday. It was my first time being in this club. The service at the bar was slow but the security guy with the nose ring explained the party of the night to me and was very kind. I've been to only a few other clubs around so far but have not been smiled at at the entrance like in this club. Party was great. Thank you nose ring security guy for making me feel welcomed.

I think this club is one of the best clubs in Cologne especially for students. I love love love the “Hush Hush Crew” they never disappoint me and my friend. I have been to their event 3 times so far and it got better and better. It is not too pricey (if you buy your tickets and early enough) and it is worth your time and energy. The only thing that kind of annoys me is that you cannot pay cash and only with card.

We went to this club on Friday. I took my boyfriend here, his first time in CBE. Service was a “bit faster” as usual- But Big shout out to the security guy with the nose ring. Welcoming and explaining the party to my non German bf. Finally a nice guy at the door. Thank you! Nice vibes. The female DJ was great!

This place ripped me off for my 3000 Euro coat. They stole my 3000 Euro Maxmara coat and refused to admit that they stole it. They put the blame on me and kept making excuses. It was disgusting! They lied a lot. I checked my coat in front of the party before the party started, but unfortunately the number tag was lost, but I remembered my number. Even though I told the security guard what number my coat was, what was in my pocket, and even showed him detailed photos, he still didn't return it to me because I didn't have the number tag. This matter had to be resolved within the working day. So I wrote emails for four consecutive days but they didn't reply to me. They didn't answer my calls either. Finally, I went to the bar to find the manager in person and she finally replied to my emails and told me that they would help me find the coat because they would protect the customer's things. If they couldn't find it, they promised to compensate me. As a result, I prepared the purchase invoice, but they actually went back on their word and said "this matter is not their responsibility, the coat may have been stolen by someone else." If you really protect the customer's things as you promised, how could the coat be stolen so easily? Could it be that your own internal employees stole this 3000 Euro coat? Since you won’t compensate me for my things, I will make this known to the whole world! You guys are really disgusting

We read the reviews before heading there and decided to give the place the benefit of doubt. To our surprise, the reviews turned out to be true. The Bouncer denied us entry from far away almost as if he had made up his mind even before talking to us. The Bouncer, as mentioned in the reviews, denied to provide us with a reason too as we would have happily moved on if justified. Mind you we were well behaved and well dressed gentlemen. But oh well. Looking forward to hearing back from the owner on this one though.

Bodygyards didn't even let our Group in bc we were confused as to where we had to wait in line (not rude at all). Incredibly unfriendly and unprofessional, given that our Group was sober and friendly. Felt like they were on a Power trip.

The worst club I've ever been to. Security and the owner are extremely unfriendly and difficult. You pay a lot for a bad experience. I wouldn't recommend it. In response to the owner's comment... No? I paid? So there are frequent arguments?!
Marie B — Google review
The bouncer didnt let us in. He was cool and polite. Give us directions to a good doner. I think he saw that we are 35+ age, which is cool. Will try to get in next time we visit Cologne.
Gorast C — Google review
Yesterday i came to this club with my friends. All of us are students here in Cologne. We come from different countries and apparently only white students are welcome in this club. The guards didn't let in our non-white friends without a valid reason, they behaved aggressively, pushed one of our friends and insulted another with words. Let me add, that they let all of the white people without any problem first. I definitely do not recommend this place. I see that this club usually answers negative comments ( a lot of job tho considering how many are there) so i want to clarify: our friends weren't drunk nor they behaved badly. They "didn't fit in" because they are non-white. I've heard it happens in this club, but now we all know for sure.

Jan B — Google review
Went with friends the bouncer let us in, we had never been there before he quickly roughly grabbed one of the girls arms to check her stamp as we didn’t know where to pay upon entry and out of nowhere he was super aggressively grabbing one of the girls by the arm, waist and hip with massive condescending and toxic attitude. For sure too much testosterone or steroids or cocaine or all of the above. It was extremely uncomfortable and really weird how he touched our Freind. It was clear he just wanted to dominate people for some strange reason. Would not return and very uncalled for we explained we were tourists and never been there before. I dunno why he searched a problem when we were very relaxed and calm and we were not drunk or wasted in anyway. Then paid 20 euros to a relatively empty club, Completely unwarranted behavior. Bartender was polite tho otherwise.
Crim C — Google review
The bouncers denied me and my friends entry because there were too many males in the club. We were a group of 4 males. Behind us multiple groups of males were allowed to go in. This made no sense to us. We had to wait about 40 minutes in the queue. I would advise to have a backup plan if you can't get in! Everyone in the queue was lovely.

Bei Oma Kleinmann is a historic corner bar in Cologne's Latin Quarter, known for serving the city's biggest schnitzel. The restaurant, which dates back to 1949, offers a cozy and lively atmosphere with outdoor seating. Named after its original landlady Paula Grandma Kleinmann, the traditional pub is popular for its German homestyle cooking and large selection of beers. Despite its popularity, visitors can expect quality food and service.
I had celebrated my birthday at Oma. Why? because I love schnitzels. And if its a huge schnitzel, even better. We shared one for two, and could barely finish it. The kartoffel (potatoes) are phenomenal, impeccable, too. Service is decent, despite being busy they find the time to speak to you and check in. The senf (mustard) compliments the food well enough. You may be asked to wait as its busy, but you can order drinks from the bar and sit on a temporary table outside. A lovely atmosphere in a nice neighborhood.
Segev H — Google review
I have had schnitzel all across Germany as it is one of my favourite mainland European dishes; non compare to the schnitzel I had here. The pork was moist, the breadcrumb was perfectly cooked, and the potato salad was delicious. Even the salad they provide beforehand was perfect, with pine nuts providing a fantastic contrast to the sweet salad flavour. The best addition? The service. A bit of a wait for a table as the locals piled in (usually a good sign for a tourist when the locals like the place), but we were seated as soon as there was space. And then, we were catered for throughout by a fantastic pair of servers (Maureen and Johann) who were attentive and genuinely caring about our experience. Following the best food I've eaten in a long time, we were given a sample of some schnapps to taste which went down a treat. Thank you so much for a fantastic introduction to the warm hospitality Cologne has to offer, it has been an absolute pleasure.

Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Sat outside with heaters and blankets which was fine. Very good schnitzel options, had the Kolsche Art which was very tasty and a generous portion. My wife had the Camembert which was also nice and a good size. Good dessert selection and the chocolate mousse was very tasty and was the weekly special white chocolate mousse.

Had a wait when we showed up without a reservation but the waitress was nice and had an open outdoor table for us quickly under a heat lamp. Very friendly service throughout and the Schnitzel!? So great. We're not Schnitzel noobs but this was fantastic. Starting out with a little salad with a very tasty sunflower seed topped salad, the Schnitzel came and was about the size of my head but with wonderful light batter. We had a filled Kölner Schnitzer and the spicy Oma Schnitzel which had a spicy habanero sauce. So good and so rare in Germany to really have you mouth be on fire! Would come back here if we're back in town.

Brauerei zur Malzmühle is a historic family brewery that has been in operation for 150 years. It offers modern rooms, casual dining, and a traditional beer hall. The brewery is renowned for its signature Mühlen Kölsch beer, brewed using traditional methods since 1858. Located in the heart of the Old Town, this establishment has welcomed notable guests such as former President Bill Clinton and German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer.

I had an amazing experience at Brauerei zur Malzmühle! This historic brewery offers an authentic Cologne atmosphere with a cozy and lively setting. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the place was quite busy. The Kölsch beer here is one of the best I’ve had—fresh, crisp, and served the traditional way. The food was fantastic, with hearty portions of classic German dishes. The location is great, just a short walk from the city center, making it perfect for tourists and locals alike. If you’re looking for an authentic Cologne brewery experience with great beer and food, Malzmühle is the place to go!

Enjoyed a late lunch and kolsch beer at this 170 year old brewery. It was busy but seated immediately. The kolsch flows as it should in Cologne. The large currywurst was just that large. Excellent flavor sausage with sauce and thick fries. The gnocchi was in a rich tomato sauce with perfect seasoning and spicy. It was a wonderful stop.

My 5th brauhaus experience and the best. However, that might just be because it was a Saturday night and even some locals said that the live music was an unexpected bonus. SUPER busy, but they kept me watered while I waited and I ended up sharing a table with a lovely couple. As per every brauhaus, the food is tasty, comes quickly, and is a good portion. Also, reasonable value for money. Table service is a lovely thing, and was both efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!

**Restaurant Review: Mühlen Kölsch** Tucked away in an unassuming, weathered building, Mühlen Kölsch has been serving authentic German cuisine since 1858. The entrance is a unique experience—guests pass through antique wooden revolving doors covered by thick curtains, briefly plunging them into darkness before stepping directly into the bustling dining area. The atmosphere is rustic and historic, with aged wooden tables and walls adorned with nostalgic photographs of Germany’s past. Seating is informal, with the nearest server guiding guests to an open spot. The service is efficient and quintessentially German—beers arrive almost immediately, so if you prefer otherwise, be sure to decline upfront. Refills come regularly, maintaining the lively, traditional beer hall feel. The food is nothing short of excellent. A crisp side salad with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots, dressed in a tangy, French-inspired dressing, was a refreshing start. The potato soup, rich and velvety, paired perfectly with crusty bread, ideal for dipping. For the main courses, the rump steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, topped with a flavorful herbed butter, and accompanied by crispy potatoes and a small side salad. The roast pork cutlet was a standout—tender and smothered in a thick, savory gravy reminiscent of a comforting Thanksgiving meal. Mühlen Kölsch delivers on its promise of authentic German cuisine with hearty portions, traditional flavors, and an old-world ambiance. For those seeking an immersive German dining experience with excellent service and history-rich surroundings, this spot is a must-visit.

Very local restaurant, friendly staff and good service. Food was very delicious, the crispy pork knuckle was to the point. The chicken salad was also tasty. Kölsches wasser with different flavour was also great. Good price quality food👍 Highly recommended!

Really nice restaurant and (bier) brewery near Köln city centre; not too expensive when compared to other similar restaurants, the plates are big and served fast. The service is nice to costumers, but the beer choices are not as many as expected. Overall, I would recommend

Located in the heart of Cologne, Gaststätte Lommerzheim is a charming and unpretentious gem that offers an authentic experience. The cozy and rustic interior takes you back to a bygone era, where locals gather at the bar and enjoy abundant beer alongside mouthwatering bratwurst. Situated on the 'wrong side' of the Rhine, this pub has been a pride of the area since its opening in 1959.
Very friendly, super cheerful atmosphere! Very very tasty beer. At last some good beer!very tasty food! They bring you all the time until you put the paper on the bottle. They know that means stop 🤣. Wish we could try the porkshank!

I arrived at this restaurant at 7 P. M. on a saturday and it was already full of people. As soon as I looked the waiter in the eyes to ask him how long would it take to get a table he handed me a beer without even asking me if I wanted it :) In the end I had to wait an hour and half to get a table and had to share it with two strangers. I had the pork chop, it was really big. Beers kept flowing in all night long, the waiter marked them on coaster. I didn't see any menù so in the end the check was a surprise and they don't even accept cards for payment. To make a long story short, it was a really strange and unique experience to eat in this restaurant :)

Truly a hidden gem! We went underground and the atmosphere there was lovely. Recommend trying kölsch with beef and potatoes, it’s really good. The single problem was that they accept only cash
Oceandev — Google review
My two local friends suggested that we end our recent pub crawl at this interesting location. It doesn't look much from the outside, but inside it was teeming with drinkers enjoying the beer, food and overall atmosphere. I would classify this as a really authentic, rough and ready Kölsch beer house. We descended into the bowels of this establishment where there were still a few tables free. Our larger than life Köbe was quick to serve us with what seemed like the obligatory Kölsch beer. No problem. I then went on to order their special pork chop which came with chips and fried onions. It was delicious. Eating and drinking in this cellar area was great except for one silly group of youngsters who insisted on shouting their heads off and playing stupid games. The oral confrontation that ensued lead to them leaving. It's rare that I complain but they were being really unreasonable. After they left we were able to conclude our evening in peace. All good.

It thrives on the aura of a glorious past under Lommi, a legendary innkeeper, and his beer-tapping wife, Annemie: despite the crowds, there was always room for everyone – and if so, it was on empty beer crates with a phone book on them! Today, however, it's simply lousy: unfriendly waiters, excessive arrogance in the condescending, gracious granting of free seats – you have to "make an appointment" at the bar, even though no one is waiting and there are seats available. Apparently, they don't need hospitality. It's best to leave after such poor treatment – a real shame!

This place was one of the highlights of my trip to Koln. Unfortunately I discovered it the day before I left. The service was above and beyond, within a minute of entering we were in tears from laughter and still to this day we tell the stories of this pub. The beer was amazing as well as the food. I wish I could find a place like this close to home. I will definitely return when I'm in the area. Thank you for the memories

I visited Lommerzheim for the first time. Personally, I’m a big fan of Kölsch, German beers, and Rhineland cuisine but I haven’t experienced such disrespect in a long time. First of all, the staff is extremely inattentive. The place opens at 16:30, and there’s a line at the door. You’re seated according to the queue, but as you enter, no one greets you and none of the servers offer help. It’s a chaotic free-for-all whoever pushes hardest gets a seat. The staff only focuses on beer and service; order and hospitality seem to be irrelevant. We managed to get in without waiting too long, but once inside, no one welcomed us or showed us where to go. It was every person for themselves. While searching for a seat, I encountered a waiter carrying a keg. Naturally, I was about to give way, but instead he rudely shoved me aside with his hand and continued walking. I was going to let him pass, but he didn’t even give me the chance. The crowd inside is incredibly rude. No one makes room, and going to the restroom feels like a crisis. We barely found a table, and I noticed people who couldn’t find seats just standing awkwardly around others’ tables. After observing such poor service and behavior and even getting shoulder-checked by a few German patrons I had no choice but to leave without sitting down. I’ve never seen so many rude people in one place. The beer is excellent we managed to grab one while standing and I’m sure the food is great too. But I wouldn’t recommend visiting a place with such hostility and lack of restaurant culture. Instead, head toward Heumarkt and find a spot there. Let our rude, unhelpful, and strictly non-English-speaking German friends enjoy Lommerzheim on their own.
Ali T — Google review
Quite an experience! Once you sit down, the waiter brings you a glass of cold beer without placing an order. Once you’ve almost finished your first glass, the second is placed on your table. Until you say no or place the paper coaster to cover your glass. The beer is typical Kölsch, which is very refreshing, light, with a subtle sweetness. The food is tasty too. Not too much choices. But the pork knuckle I ordered was crispy outside, tender and juicy inside. Very flavorful and large portion. The price is reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Step into the vibrant world of Lanxess Arena, a colossal indoor venue in Cologne that can accommodate up to 20,000 people. This architectural marvel is supported by a striking steel arch and hosts an array of events, from sports competitions to electrifying concerts. The arena's bustling atmosphere is filled with the excitement of crowds, occasional bursts of confetti, and the invigorating scent of live entertainment.
I came here to watch DRAKE IN CONCERT, it was great security was very helpful. I was a bit late to collect my ticket, the ticket office was still open well after 21:00, made it there around 21:40 and it was still open the workers are really kind and thoughtful. I ended up in one of VIP booths by invite, amazing service.

It was quite nice, i had a lounge ticket, the food and booze was really good although i wished they had a better strategy managing the crowd getting inside, the lines were crazy, also most of the staff were pretty much clueless about everything. On more thing that made me wonder was that i was there for TØP concert and they were playing Imagine Dragons and other bands outside which i find weird, also that the other venues had really nice Posters and everything hanging outside, they did not really have anything, for a fully sold concert!!!! But overall the sound and the whole technical experience was great.
Tara A — Google review
Surely one of the best arenas in Germany for sports, concerts and large live events. Parking spaces available at a fee. Very good acoustics and stage show. The real weakness is the catering concept inside the arena. There are various stores with soft drinks and coffee etc. inside the arena. Unfortunately most of the offered food is fast food. This is not pleasant during events over several days. At the same time, it is forbidden to bring your own (healthy) food. Sometimes there were additional stores with alternative food outside the hall . However, this probably depends on the event. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Some of the catering stores closed already before the event ended. Within the arena, the view is very goof from all sides of the "Unterrang". There were are also enough large screens.

A great place to watch concerts! We saw Sting 3.0 in October 25 and it was amazing! All clean and organized, plenty of personnel to support and orient! Acoustics is really good and the in and out were really fast!

Great stadium. Easy walking to/from city centre. Easily signposted which entrance to use. I was a bit disappointed with the security, would have preferred tighter checks - just a quick handbag check for me, nothing for my husband. Great design internally so there's not too many people using the same staircase. We had the highest seats but still a great view. Didn't buy any food/drink so can't comment.

An amazing arena to enjoy the EHF handball final four. The place works like a perfect engine. Sound is perfect and easy to understand. Seats rather uncomfortable is some areas. The technical suport amazing. Prices are quite high but not much different than places outside the arena (which are only a few)

Fantastic experience. The facility is modern, efficient and comfortable. The effort made to generate a heghtened sense of excitement before the game was first class. Attention to inviting fan engagement via video highlights was also welcomed. Note: There can be some line of sight issues when viewing a hockey game.. this results from the presence of protective railings at 600 and 700 seat levels.

Overall good, but.. our group had 12 tickets in lodge; whole lodge was 16 seats; And it was 18 people inside! Somehow catering was for 6 persons only, and those 2 random persons were first in our lodge, and as a result part of our group didn’t get some of the food. I hope it will be investigated. Just to be clear: we had random people in our lodge before, but didn’t complain, because they entered right when concert started and didn’t bother us.

My husband and I were in town for work and a friend back home suggested this restaurant. I was able to make a reservation online which I appreciated, since I don’t speak German. I was able to correspond with the restaurant via email and they were very quick to reply. Yelp has this listed as formal attire and so I quickly emailed them to cancel my reservation. I got an immediate reply back stating that was not the case. I was so relieved! We walked there from our hotel and as we got closer, I was sure we were going the wrong way. Luckily google led us correctly and we arrived right on time. There was no door to open, rather you pulled a thick curtain back and you are immediately transported into a lovely French bistro. You are greeted by a host to confirm your reservation and then seated. Several people waited on us in English. Our menu was also in English. We decided to do the tasting menu with wine pairing. We were not disappointed. Every single dish was not only a beautiful presentation, but it was seasoned perfectly and tasted divine. The service was also super attentive and friendly! My husband and I both agreed that this was by far the best meal we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant and even though the price point was on the higher end, it was absolutely worth every single euro!

Not worth it, don’t even waste your money. Food is mediocre and overpriced. Chef was offended when we asked if the fish could be cooked a bit more (undercooked) and denied that it was. Not too much going on in Cologne in terms of French cuisine, which explains why they even got two Michelin stars. I’ll take a trip to France to get better French cuisine. Meh.

Visitors can expect exceptional food with creative vegetarian options and flavorful dishes.
Amazing traditional German food and beer. Especially loved the crispy pork knuckle dish with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. It was huge, definitely a good size to share between 2-3 people among other dishes. Service was great and prompt. Atmosphere was excellent, very loud, very German. + Sit outside for a more airy vibe, as it can get a bit stuffy inside in summer. + The menu is in both English and German. + They gave bowling alleys too.

Very good beerhouse. I went for a safe meat+potatoes combo- because I missed the clear marking of allergenes and I need to eat gluten-free. They had some nice sodas, not regular coke products - kudos for that. If you are not on a diet, you can eat very well here. Colleagues liked the beer, they said it was the best among those they tried.

the crispy pork knuckle is hugeeeee so please share with someone. although i love pork knuckle i felt that it was too tough and salty, the sauerkraut was too salty too. however i really enjoyed the cheese pasta-gy dish on the vegetarian menu and the salad with goat cheese was yummy and refreshing.

A local saw us lost after not scoring any seats at Max Stark and recommended us to have dinner here. We were served by an energetic and hardworking waitstaff, Victoria. She was vibrant and friendly, running all over the place and keeping busy. She was quite a character and we enjoyed her lively service. Loved the Kolsch beer, which was cold and refreshing, ended up with 10 glasses among the 2 of us. Mushroom sauce on the schnitzel was great, and sausages wasn’t salty. Restaurant was huge but a little chilly. Use of WC was foc which was great as most toilets in Germany were ridiculously asking for 50cents euro. Overall a good experience with good food.

The beer garden HELLERS Volksgarten in the park is a popular spot for a Kölsch with stunning views of the lake. The beers served here are organic and come from nearby Heller Brewery, which also offers typical German dishes and regularly organizes special events. The view is worth the visit alone, but the friendly staff and delicious food make it even better. Unfortunately, boats access to the lake is currently not operational, but this spot definitely deserves a visit!

Place is nice but some things need to be improved: -if the kitchen is closed cos of random problems, customers should be informed before they sit down (put a sign at the entrance). Getting this information when we had already been waiting at the table for a while cos there was only 1 waiter working, and with a hungry child with us, was not correct. Had we known we would have gone somewhere else -beers not full. Its a rip off to order a 500ml beer and it being clearly under 500ml.

Allergic to making money these lot, don't wanna serve anyone. Avoid eye contact when you try to order. Shame cause would be a nice pub otherwise

Extremely disappointing experience at Hellers. We waited for over 30 minutes just to place our order, and even then, our server seemed disorganized and forgetful. The real kicker was that our food never arrived. We waited for over an hour, asked multiple times for updates, and were eventually told that our order had been 'forgotten.' Unbelievable. The lack of communication, slow service, and failure to deliver on their promise of food made for a frustrating and hungry evening. Unless they revamp their service and kitchen processes, I'd advise others to steer clear."

I was travelling through Cologne a few days ago, and was looking for somewhere with some good craft beers - and this place certainly has some! Lots to choose from on tap, with a range of styles, breweries and regions covered. Overall, the service was also good and friendly, and the atmosphere of the bar was really nice. The club is renowned for its extravagant light shows, themed parties, and famous DJs that attract electronic music enthusiasts from all over Germany and beyond.

I have been in several countries. Places. I can tell you quickly. This is the biggest scam in terms of a club. This club just abuse on very strong bass to give the impression is a good club. It's not. The bass distortion the sound unnecessarily. But there are biggest issues here. You could go and only find a very small stage for the excessive price. (Attended only specific events) Air conditioning is a nice feature. The floors become a bit sticky after a couple of hours into the main event, and the sound was too loud after 03:00 at the latest Liquicity, but the latter is not the venue’s problem anyway :)

One of the best kölsch beer places in Köln, by far! The food is authentic and really feels homemade, especially the soup you are served before the main meal. We had Schweischnitzels (or whatever you spell it) and barely finished the big portions they served us. Absolutely recommend it!

Lively Local Spot with Great Food and Beer We found this place through a travel book we picked up in the U.S., and it turned out to be a fantastic recommendation. It has a fun, local beer hall vibe with communal seating, which made for a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The beer flows freely here—just place your coaster on top of your glass when you’re done, otherwise it keeps coming! The staff was friendly, and the crowd seemed to be in great spirits. The menu had plenty of hearty options. We tried the pork schnitzel with Puszta sauce and the schnitzel with French-style Béarnaise sauce—both were absolutely delicious. Meals came with a flavorful brothy soup to kick things off (and maybe make you crave more beer) and fresh, tasty salads. Prices were very reasonable, and the whole experience felt authentically local. It’s just about a 10-minute walk from the cathedral—definitely worth the visit, and we’d happily come back!

Loved this restaurant. Generally locals only eating here so definitely not touristy. The food was fantastic, great tasting German food. The environment had the traditional sand on the floor, wooden tables and served the traditional beer for Cologne (Kolsch). Staff were fab and if you're a dog owner, this is your restaurant.

I was told by a friend that this is the best kolsch in Köln and she was right! Very friendly service and a somewhat lighter atmosphere than in many very heavy, darker German beer halls. One waiter even shared a kolsch with me in contrast to many less friendly beer halls where the moment you begin to speak English they roll their eyes. The food was delicious but so heavy I could not finish everything! I thought the sand on the floor was a myth but it is true.

I had a great time at this traditional pub in Cologne. They serve a good Kölsch-style beer, which I really enjoyed. The beer was freshly poured and tasted excellent. The owner, who served me at the bar, is a bit grumpy, but it added a funny touch to the experience—like stepping into a classic, no-nonsense local spot. Despite his gruffness, he was courteous enough. Overall, it’s a cozy place to enjoy a traditional beer and soak in the authentic atmosphere of Cologne’s pub scene. I’d definitely recommend it for those looking for a genuine local experience!

Stumbled upon this place because every bar and restaurant in the city center was a madhouse due to the first day of Karneval on Saturday 11 November 2023. This brewpub was a welcome break from the madness. Busy but not crowded, no line to get in, and families dressed up in costume but not hammered...sign me up! The food menu is a mix of regional specialties and classic traditional German offerings. Likely the cheapest metthappen in town at only €2,20! Their Kölsch is refreshing with the proper malt profile and a crisp finish. Mellow, barny, clean, delicious. Not the best in town but really good and pairs well with their food. Also really well-priced at €1,90 for a 0.2L pour! I even had a shot of their Kammerschreck liquor to finish the visit. A great local brewpub!

Cologne's Premier Hostility Experience: The \textit{Aggressively} Good Bar. If you're tired of limp, cheerful service and wish to spice up your evening with a genuine sense of existential dread, look no further than this magnificent Cologne institution. They’ve perfected the art of serving world-class food and beer while simultaneously making you feel like an unfortunate mistake the universe is trying to correct. Let’s start with the positives, which were truly outstanding: the Kölsch was perfectly chilled, crisp, and seemingly flowed directly from the Rhine, and the Schnitzel was a masterpiece of savory, golden-brown excellence. It was so good, I almost forgot I was eating under the watchful, judging gaze of our designated human sentinel. However, the real star of the show—the reason this bar deserves a six-star rating (if one star represented sheer, unadulterated tension)—was our waiter, Adolf (or at least, that's what I'll call the patron saint of passive-aggression). Adolf didn't just serve us; he conducted a swift, surgical interrogation of our dining choices. His body language suggested that asking for extra mustard was a profound personal insult to his family lineage. When a glass of Kölsch went empty, there was no polite query; the replacement arrived with the speed and finality of a court order, delivered with a forceful thud that confirmed our continued occupation of his valuable table space. My personal favorite moment was when I tried to catch his eye for the bill. It felt less like signaling a waiter and more like attempting to hail a cab during a blizzard. When the bill finally landed, it felt less like a receipt and more like a declaration of war. Verdict: If you are seeking a genuinely fantastic meal and want to practice your ability to remain perfectly still while being treated like you've personally offended the entire German service industry, book a table immediately. It's the only place in Cologne where the food is incredible, the beer is perfect, and you leave feeling thoroughly humbled and utterly convinced you need to apologize for your presence on earth. A truly unique and memorable experience.

This wonderful park has a beer garden with a wide range of options for food and drink. There is also a pleasant green setting, perfect for spending an afternoon relaxing. The biergarten is popular with locals and visitors alike, and the atmosphere is lively and entertaining on weekends.
Nice biergarten near the center of Cologne, lots of trees and shadows, bands playing on Sunday afternoon, a good park for kids while you relax. Reasonable options for eating: cake, quiche and some salads.

Beer garden in a public park, it’s mostly crowed with lot of people walking but it’s really a chill place to have some beers.
Praveen K — Google review
Quite romantic for a clear sky day although the service might not be so satisfactory.

One of the nicest Biergarten in Town, the atmosphere is friendly, less trendy than Brüsseler Platz or Aachener Weiher. There are toilets, aswell on the Gastronomy as chemical.ones in the park. The children area was renewed and reopen in 2021, with two big playgrounds, one right next to the terrace, wich is more suitable for smaller children, and at the other end of the square there is another playground with climbing structures, a small football field, ping pong table, and basketball net. The Bar/Restaurant is self service and quite accesible for persons with limited mobility. It doesn't open on rainy days!!!!

Good open space for eating and having fun with friends and family. But, there must be a section for smoking and no smoking clients.

(Translated by Google) Unlike the previous speakers, I had the pleasure of catching an apple from the cart today. Targeted throw at 15 meters. Since the appelsine was not only well thrown but also a hit in terms of taste, we'll be coming to the appelsine meeting next year in the hope that there won't just be fruit juice there.
