The German baker is very friendly. His Thai wife is unfriendly (therefore one star is deducted). The large breakfast for 185 Baht was very good and filling.

You have to taste the bread and the cheesecake... Delicious...

I have been here a few times, the baking is great, the people are great and the apple cake is worth stopping in for coffee for. Deli options, bread and sweets. I have never walked out disappointed!

We love the German bakery! Our sons always want to go when we visit saying they have the best “bratwurst and pastries”. Rudi and his wife are always so kind and welcoming. We are eager to visit when they return from holiday.

The best breakfast and cakes in town!!! Rudi is a professional baker from Germany and the bread is absolutely fantastic. He also does his own sausages. I was way too full from breakfast to try his cakes but they also look stunning! A must visit when you are in town. Not worth trying anything else!

I love this marked areas it’s just has a different vibe to it and the shops are just PACKED with all things you could ever image and then a bit more. Easy to visit also on rainy days as there’s a roof covering all of the marked area. Very authentic and prices are among the cheapest you will find in Thailand in general. Go see this place. Tha Sadet Market is one of the largest and most well-known markets in Nongkhai. It used to be very busy and packed with visitors, but nowadays it feels quieter. Still, it’s a great place to explore, especially for cheap souvenirs, snacks, and local products. You’ll find everything from dried goods to clothes and imported items. It may not have the same buzz as before, but it’s still worth a stroll if you’re in town.

I visited during the week so maybe the vibe of the market was a bit flat and many stalls were opening later than expected. With it being quiet it was great to just walk around without feeling rushed but it was missing that buzz you would normally get from local markets. It’s worth a visit but nothing special. A weekend visit may feel a bit different.

The food is okay but not amazing. Quite expensive but a lovely spot to sit and enjoy. The staff are very friendly.

This place is a gem! The food was so Delicious and each plate was presented in such a beautiful way. The menu has a wonderful selection of local & American food with a wide variety of choices. We loved visiting with Macky, the owner, and Will for sure visit again. You will not be disappointed.

Great place along the Mekong walkway and near the market. Friendly staff. Choice of Thai and Western dishes, with many available in a vegetarian version. I liked the yoghurt with muesli and fruit for breakfast.

Great service, attentive and inviting, definitely the highlight of this place. Nice to be right beside the walking street. Food was good but nothing to be running back for. I think it's a good stop if you are not sure what to eat and want to eat something non-Thai.

The Western food here is very good and fairly priced, especially given the prime location right beside the Mekong River. We particularly enjoyed the fish and chips, the mushroom and beef pie was also quite delicious. Note: the small Naga statue and Mekong signs are located about 100m east of Macky's restaurant

Ate here a few times and at different times of the day and all of the food was of really good quality and tasted really good. And so were the drinks. We had Western, Thai and Isan dishes and all of them were very good. They put the tables right by the riverside in the evenings if the weather is good (except on Saturdays, due to the walking street market), so it is perfect for a sunset view and a nice breeze. There is also a nice view from the seats outside. But good anytime of day. One of the daytime staff had a bit of an odd attitude one day, but otherwise the service was good, friendly and as mentioned before, the food quality was good. If ordering eggs in a sandwich, you may want to mention soft fried eggs, if that's what you want, as they tend to cook them then through. See picture. Would be nice if they always brought you a glass of water without asking.

If you walk along the Nong Khai Riverside, you will see a few tables set out right next to the railing overlooking the river. You have found Macky's. The portions are generous, the lady friendly and some English spoken. A good place for couples.

Lovely location on the river, good ice chocolate and coffee. Green curry was super bland, though I'm assured it's normally good food, it was a Thai holiday so maybe different chefs. Western food is good.

A bit pricey but the coffee and desserts are good. Hot Americano is 45 THB, but good quality. Had Almond Coffee Cake (which is not coffee cake, in the American sense, but rather coffee-flavored cake). Also tried the Rocky Road brownie. Not the best desserts I've had, but better than most.

Good, fresh food, pastries, cakes at reasonable prices. The "big chicken sandwich " is a long baguette - good to share! Cappuccino shake was disappointing- taste like made with flavours and not real coffee?

We had the blueberry cheesecake with an espresso and a tea. All were excellent. The cheesecake tasted like it was homebaked. As we were leaving we got a couple raisin muffins for later. They were also very good. Clean bathroom and surprisingly fast WiFi.

I ordered the hamburger and fries. I then started reviewing the reviews on Google & TripAdvisor. To late. The hamburger & fries arrived and we're plated decently. Opening the Burger it showed an extremely overcooked & dry patty. Had lettuce, tomato, onion & raw cucumber slices. No mayonnaise, ketchup or mustard. The fries looked good but we're overcooked.

Sandwich are average and staff could definitely work on their smile. Didn't try the pastries, didn't feel like it after the sandwich

I had lunch at this restaurant during my sightseeing visit to the Nong Khai area. The restaurant is located almost next to the Mekong River. You can enjoy the view of Mekong River and Laos border while having an authentic Vietnamese meal. The food was excellent, as was the service. The restaurant was very clean, and everything including the services were well organised.

Nam Nueng served here is exceptionally delicious, with flavorful dipping sauce and a great selection of fresh side vegetables. The restaurant offers both air-conditioned indoor seating and open-air outdoor areas, creating a relaxed and comfortable dining environment to suit all preferences. One dish you absolutely must try is the Nam See Krong Moo Tod (deep-fried fermented pork spare ribs). It’s packed with flavor, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Overall, this is a great place to enjoy authentic flavors, quality ingredients, and a laid-back atmosphere. Highly recommended for both casual meals and dining out with friends or family😍

This is a restaurant that my family and I often go to. The service is good and the food tastes good. But recently, the day I went for lunch with my family during the day, the restaurant was very crowded. The area of the restaurant was under renovation. There was a loud noise from the wood saw and the building was being demolished. I felt that eating at noon in a restaurant full of customers was a very depressing experience. You should stop the renovation at that time because of the noise and dust. It was a very disappointing family outing.

It was in the evening so we chose to sit outside as the weather was pleasant. Definitely a popular restaurant but there is plenty of tables. The food was delicious. Some Vietnamese dishes I was expecting too see on the menu were not present but there's plenty of choices. After dinner we took a walk along the river. All in all a good experience.

A famous Vietnamese restaurant in Nong Khai, located right along the Mekong and connected to the riverside walkway. The restaurant is beautiful decored, quite spacious with plenty of tables, suitable for both small and large groups. There’s an outdoor seating area with fans where you can enjoy the river view, and an indoor air-conditioned area. The staff are numerous and serve quickly; service can sometimes have small errors due to the high number of customers, but overall it’s efficient. Parking is a bit tight, but restrooms and hand-washing stations are available. The food tastes great and looks very clean 🥗. The nam nueng is fresh, with beautifully selected green vegetables, generous side dishes, and a delicious dipping sauce.

What a great restaurant on the Mekong! Daeng Namnuang has a small menu of tasty Vietnamese food, and they serve it very quickly. They have a seating area right over the river, but it was closed when we went. It's next to a nice walkway, which adds to the experience. The food is delicious, but be careful with the spice! Highly recommended.

Excellent restraint by for anyone who enjoys well prepared pork dishes. The staff is attentive and the food is accompanied by massive bowls of fresh herbs on certain dishes. Try the shrimp on sugar cane, the roast pork slices, the sour pork sausage deep fried and of course the pork rolls that are served with rice noodles, 2 sauces, peanuts and a large herb/lettuce bowl. Their iced coffee is divine. Unfortunately there isn’t anything for a vegan or vegetarian but it is worth letting your meat eating friends enjoy this very special restaurant.

Pros: 🌿 The place is beautifully decorated with a well-executed forest theme, creating a cool and relaxing atmosphere. 🌳 Spacious area with plenty of seating, soft background music, and clean, well-maintained restrooms. 📸 There are several nice photo spots and natural corners to walk around and enjoy. Cons: ⚙️ The food ordering system is not well manage. Resulting while there are many staff members present, most of them seem to have minimal assigned duties and often sit using their phones. 🥢 After placing your order, customers have to collect the food themselves, even if seated far away. 🧼 Tables are not cleaned – many had stains, bugs, leaves, or wet chairs. Overall: Still giving 5 stars because of the great atmosphere, tasty food, beautiful decor, and rich coffee. The staff seemed kind and service-minded. If the management system can be improved, this place would be perfect. Keep it up!

This place is highly recommended if anyone is around the area. Thank me later. One of the cafes with a well decorative forest feels as is named, the pond with water lily is best place to check in for pictures, got to pay for visit and offset it with an order. Enjoyed the place everytime i visit. Hopefully, they gonna start the complete building, which not sure it's gonna be a resort or fnb area for my next visit

It was a beautiful and wonderful place. The president, who looked pure and comfortable like an English-speaking employee, welcomed us kindly. The price of food is similar to that of the surrounding area. The food I ate was fried chicken and vegetables together, but it didn't taste as I expected. However, it was a place where I thought it would be good to give an overall rating.

Great cafe with lots of gardens and spaces to relax. Amazing lilly pond and good coffee. Family friendly, has playground for kids, but still has quiet gardens and spaces for couples and solo travellers. Has extensive range of coffee and other beverages including bottled beer.Also has food menu.

On way back home to Udon Thani, we stopped a lovely restaurant on the banks of the mighty Meikong river. The setting was beautiful and pastoral, and the menu we chose fish cakes, boiled fish, fresh coconut water, tempura style morning glory, and Tom yum. All the dishes were prepared beautifully and with fresh ingredients. The staff was very polite and helpful. It was sunset, and the environment was the perfect to end our day.

Excellent Restaurant and Beer Bar!! This is exactly the kind of place you'd see in the US. Excellent selection of beer on tap plus lots of canned beer options. Food was amazing. Fish based menu with fresh catches from the Mekong River. Staff was super attentive. Ate in the AC room, then moved to the riverside patio for after drinks! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Nong Khai area and want something a little different!

Nice looking expansive restaurant and craft beer property. Easy to social distance if you want to. 4 stars since I only have eaten there 1 time. Definitely have the Ribs with the finger licking good sauce. Also had whole fried fish, Spicy mango slaw. Added this place to my saved list for a return trip. Also right on the river for nice sunsets or scenic views in the days time.

Perfect location at the Mekong banks. Huge parking. Friendly and efficient staff. Cheap and really tasty food. Very good draft craft beer. The only issue with the beer price: at the desk written the price for half pint (180THB), and not the pint (which turned out to cost around 290THB). That’s ok but we’d prefer to know about it beforehand and not after receiving the bill )

This is absolutely one of the amazing evening in this year for me so far ‘Likhit Craft Beer’ ('Likhit' = Destiny) is located on the bank of Mekong River - Nong Khai Thailand side, we're sitting on the balcony, watching the sundown from 5PM until twilight with the IPA Thai craft beer in our hand. With a good company like this, nothing could go wrong at this point The sky was changing from clear blue, orange, red, grey until dark, the local’s boat commute along the river, the waves and sun ray reflected over Mekong River is ABSOLUTE BEST! I wish this moment could last forever

A very contemporary elegant style coffee shop. This place is very clean with an awesome view of the Maekhong River. Being a date and relax in the air-conditioning if the weather is too hot. There is free Wi-Fi offered if you need. Roadhouse offers a small deck area to sit and soak up the sun. Open daily 7am-6pm

Stopped here this morning and had a fantastic Yoghurt smoothie. It was so good I came back in the afternoon to try one of the coconut with coffee foam drinks. Very nice but much prefer the smoothie. My friend had a mango smoothie, equally delicious. We also had a big chewy cookie and fudge brownie. Very nice. I also see that they have accommodation at very reasonable prices. We will be looking to stay here on our next trip to Nong Khai.

Music is great here. Delicious coffee. Kind service. A variety of seating arrangements with a central outdoor nice patio. Old style well done ambiance, but that modern touch still. One of my favorite cafes in Nong Khai now.

A cafe is located at the middle of Nongkhai city ; near Bus station. We got a coffee with coconut cake. The cake was delicious and fluffy cream and also not too sweet. The coffee is good what was blended with medium coffee beans (little citrus and chocolate)

The coffee is considered to be of excellent quality, and the atmosphere is quite pleasant.

Vintage atmosphere. Coffee is super awesome. They used the leaf, I believed, to make a handle for taking away, which is very clever and environmental concerned. The shop has no car park but you can park on side road or the temple nearby.

This place is perfect! Lovely staff, relaxing music, very good espresso with options for soy milk and decaffeinated blends, and the Sweet Potato Cake was amazing! The decor and attention to detail is superb. A wonderful surprise to find in Nong Khai. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. I'll be back to try some of their wonderful looking shakes.

My wife and i decided to spend the weekend in Nong Khai, and upon checking in to the hotel, we immediately went out looking for something/somewhere to eat...and after a lot of walking, we found this restaurant. It's an "open-air" place (typical for Thailand) and has plenty of seating, both outdoor and indoors. The staff was quick and courteous and promptly brought us menus (they're actually in English, Thai, and Vietnamese). Our orders were taken, and in a few minutes, we were enjoying our food...which was very good! The bill wasn't expensive, and the bathrooms were clean (and they even have "western toilets!). We will definitely be visiting this restaurant before we leave!!!

I passed by Nong Khai for the first time and followed a review to Dee Dee, which is exactly like its meaning: Good good! Great local Thai food, nice people, excellent service and a menu in English with pictures. I would definitely eat there again.

Most of the food was great as recommended. Nice decoration on each dish. However, we got fried fish which was “NOT COMPLETELY COOKED”. Not acceptable for this type of restaurant. And the service was terrible, got no one to take care on table. They just came twice, took order and bill!!!! Thats what they did. By the way, the atmosphere and ambient inside is nice.

I am here at Nong Khai welcome restaurants on the edge of walking Street. Very quiet midweek. Some easily listening music. Very good food. Good prices on both food and drink

It is only open on Saturday evenings - but you should definitely go there if you are in Nong Khai on a Saturday. There are so many different kinds of food, drinks and desserts, and all reasonably priced. There is a huge area with seats that anyone can sit at and eat their food. They also have local live music and dance on in that area. It's a great place to eat and relax by the riverside at sunset.

Nong Kahi Walking Street is a very good Saturday night market. Crowded, but not too crowded. Even on Children's Day 2024 with a live band and all the pageantry a proper Thai event has it wasn't so crowded one had to do the Chiang Mai Walking Street shuffle! There's a great savory food, desert, and drink selection, and all the craft and trinket vendors that you come to expect in S. E. Asia, or the world for that matter. Most tourist race through this small border city on the way to, or after leaving Vientiane Lao PDR. Many ex-pat and long stay travelers that don't have a Type O visa use the Friendship Bridge # 1 on visa runs. Over the years I've done it 5 times. It's worth spending a few days, or more, to check out what's on offer in this small city on the Mekong River. It's a nice break from the high tourist prices of the island and beach scene, and a quiet place to escape Bangkok's noise and hustle. The night train is a good way to get here from Bangkok, and points south and north.

Wow, you should visit here. You will see many local foods, local products, and local music shows. Importantly, you will young music brands along the street. It takes around 15 minutes to walk through entire area of the night market. Beautiful girls are waiting for you here. Lol

Saturday nights in Nong Khai are made more special, by the fantastic walking street market in the evening. One can 'shop till you drop', as you choose from a wonderful variety of; textiles, arts, crafts, food, toys and general brick-aback. It is a several kilometres long walk, if you want to do the full loop and you are entertained along the way with various, talented, local street busker performers. If you are in Nong Khai on a Saturday night, then walkabout the night markets along the Mekong River, is pretty much a 'must-do', in my opinion. It was a normal Thai night market. I got there early while it was still setting up. Many different stalls though mainly local style foods. I had some tasty fried chicken and sushi 😋. There were of course some of the usual suspects lol Offaly and insectoid foods 😱 not my boggle but people like to eat them!

So big. So much variety. Walk patiently. Take shoes that can handle a little mud, a little water. If you look like a foreigner, choose stalls that already have their price posted unless you know how to negotiate.

A good night market on Sunday nights only. Plenty of food and clothes stalls. Plus a few other useful bits and pieces.

Saturday market is by the river and Sunday market is by the station. Lots of delicious food offerings.

Really busy place. Open Sunday evenings. Plenty of bargains to be had and huge selection of food as well.

Cantonese style Chinese Restaurant operated by a Lao-Chinese since 1995. Tried their dimsum which is only available between 8am - 1pm every Sunday only. The dimsum are all freshly made before steaming and served on the table. Ordered 4 dishes. Rice-rilled with fresh Shrimp, Siew-Mai, Pork Intestines and Coriander Dumpling + 1 can of Pepsi. Total bill LAK 150k (USD 7.50). Don't compare with Hong Kong standard. Imagine if u work here for 2 years and start to miss Chinese food, this one can satisfy the dimsum crave because this is quite close to Chinese taste.
