Wow. You have to go here - great spot, great food (fish), great atmosphere and wonderful service. In an area a bit lacking in “passion” for serving well and cooking with care, this was a treat of a discovery. Not only did we have a good meal but the owner suggested we book a local taxi on the way back to our hotel (the 10 min trip there from our hotel had cost €30); when none were available he drove us back himself and wouldn’t take a penny (or Euro). Well fed, well looked after and expectations exceeded on every level. Renewed our faith in humankind - thank you!

Excellent dining on the beach. Reservation absolutely necessary as the place is packed all the time. Even if like myself you enjoy fish less than a good piece of meat, the Angus beef is absolutely delicious. Parking is relatively a disaster as there is no parking lot and most people parking next to the road apparently feel it necessary to take up two spots, but you will need some excersise afterwards anyway and it is well worth it!

Lovely atmosphere on the beach, that is the main selling point of this restaurant. However if this was not enough to convince you, the restaurant has wonderful sea food but do not go to the restaurant for steaks and non sea food.

One of the best meals we’ve had in the French Riviera. We stopped by Le Table for dinner on our way back from St Tropez. Service was a little slow (it took forever to get water) but I think that might just be the slower pace of things in France. I believe it’s a women owned and run restaurant. The chef is lady from Cambodia and Thailand. We ordered the scallop appetizers which was one of the best dishes. It was so good we asked for a second order. The seafood risotto was also delicious, probably one of the best I’ve had. The duck was cooked perfectly to a medium and well seasoned. Would definitely come back here for dinner if we ever return to the area

September 2024 Just across the street from the heart of town with all the restaurants, in this street you will find Chez Gaston. All made fresh in house all from local farmers and producers, ultra fresh. Nice wine list as well. Swift service and attending staff - sometimes have a little patience - can be busy especially when weather does not permit to sit outside. Real treat.

This might be the best gastronomic experience in St Raphael/Frejus. Food was delicious, atmosphere was warm and welcoming, it really has a genuine french touch, and not least the service was great. The staff at Gaston are professional, helpful and kind. Prices are decent. We had a great dinner. Sadly we did not have the dessert, simply because we were stuffed after starters and main course, but would love to be back to try it out some other time. Enjoy a cozy bistro with great food! Edit: we went back two days later, had main course and dessert, and were not dissapointed. The colonel was a delight. And so was the service. House wine is good.

We came here as a group of three people and the Moment we sat down we were told that this is a five person table and we should sit somewhere else, which is understandable BUT 10sek after we got up a couple took our place and the same staff who adviced us to leave brought them knife, fork and a card for TWO people!! If youre going to attempt to be some high end place with premium services then dont screw up on this kind of stuff.

Delightful lunch we had here on a Friday. It was very sunny so we took a table in the shaded terrace. The dishes proposed in their set menus are very original. e.g. scallop tartare with sun-dried cherry tomatoes , or stuffed mini eggplants with beef "daube" served with home made pesto, strawberry soup served with lavender ice cream. My experience dining at L’épuisette plage; unappetizing dishes and service that will put a frown rather than a smile on your face. No one working at this restaurant had a welcoming or nice attitude. When I see this many 5 star reviews, I’m lost as the bad service wasn’t even as bad as the food itself. However, even a buzz from these 13€ cocktails will not make you hungry for the oily, dry, and seemingly reheated food you will be served hours after ordering it.

I really wanted to like this place, the restaurant was located in a really sweet area. However, after eating the Daurade dish with a piña colada cocktail, I threw up consistently the whole night. The fish was very dry and drowning in oil. The piña colada was incredibly sugary. One might think this a weird combo of dish and drink, yet I had high hopes (that were very much let down) after reading the reviews beforehand. Normally I am not one to make a comment, but the mix of food that made me throw up and waiters that had treacherous attitude, cannot be left without remark. I was very miserable after eating this meal and now a whole night of my life is wasted as I stayed up until the early morning watching the oily remnants of my meal float in my toilet bowl. I am so sorry to anyone who has also experienced an upset stomach because of this restaurant. Please think twice before making the walk down the dark road (literally) to this restaurant and eating a very unpredictable meal.

But here is what you can expect from a visit to this overhyped establishment: Immediately upon entering the place, our party of 3, including my 2 adult children, were greeted by a hostess and staff who for the most part clearly gave the feeling of not wanting to be there. This can be understandable seeing it was the end of the touristy season, however, when you hype your place as a top place restaurant on the French Riviera, with the accompanying prices, the least you could expect is a smile and good manners. And I am a native French speaker so that wasn’t even about your usual American phobic cliche French attitude. Once seated - which they did even though we hadn’t reserved, both my kids were continuously bumped by the waiters on their way to other tables. We moved our table to give them more space to pass but to no avail. We ordered one appetizer and 3 main courses. The appetizer consisted of raw vegetables with sides of puréed anchovies and some sort of unidentifiable white sauce with absolutely zero taste. Some of the veggies were clearly old, curly and with brown spots. What could have been a beautiful dish with fresh ingredients turned to be a mouthful of old veggies with substandard sauces. The main courses were 2 fish plates and one pulled pork burger. And I have to say that not one of them were even at a substandard level. The pulled pork consisted of dried out pieces of pork slapped onto a bun w a smudge of that same tasteless w beige sauce. My son could not finish it. The “pommes de terre maison” were ok but when my son asked for ketchup (not a sin when you dip some grilled potatoes in them) the waiter barked back “ on est pas au Mac Do ici” translating to: this is not McDonalds here. He got some ketchup in the end but didn’t need the lecture. Totally inappropriate. My fish was dried halibut with a burned crust of prosciutto dressed over reheated mashed potatoes and subpar ratatouille (or some version of it). The other fish plate was a grilled daurade over another version of ratatouille. The nice presentation aside, this plate led my daughter to a serious episode of food poisoning a few hours later. I don’t know what other testament one needs to bring forth the type of food given at this restaurant. To sum it up: Overhyped, pricey terrible food. Terrible service. Good cocktails. To be avoided at all cost.

Not very impressed unfortunately. The pizza was average, it could have done with more topping on in my opinion & needed seasoning. The salad with roasted veg, etc was all out of the fridge, they could have warmed the cooked elements slightly to make it more interesting. However it was service that badly let them down, one chef & two front of house it should have been much better. We asked for water for our dog, that didn't arrive till we asked again. We weren't asked how our food was & it really needed some ground pepper which took ages to get their attention. Eventually we get given a disposable type grinder which barely worked! Our main course plates were collected while they chatted to the next table, without saying a word to us - bizarre! We speak reasonably good French... After our main course we waited half an hour if we wanted a dessert, by that time it was too late, so we asked for the bill. We then waited another 15 minutes for the machine to come while our hosts were having a good laugh between themselves, see photo. Finally as I went to the toilet did they have a few kind words with my wife, it was all a bit too late by then. I hope after my review that they treat all customers well, they seemed to love some of the other tables, just not ours!
