The 3 best cheap eats in Pont-Aven

Most amazing place to find. Food and wines are excellent, as are the staff and owners who look after you . Food flavours absolutely amazing. Highly recommend

We love France. We love good, real food. This little place has shot straight into our top 5 restaurants in France together with ‘Le Tire Bouchon’ in Concarneau, ‘Les Compagnons de La Grappe’ in Lille, ‘Bistrot de l’Oulette’ in Paris and ‘Le Chaudron’ in Cassis

This was our third visit in two years. The service was perfect as usual nothing was two much bother. Champagne by the glass and then the recommendation of wines first class. We. Arrived at 1pm all tables outside full and only one other table inside taken, very unusual for them. But have to say Pont Aven in general quiet. The menu does not change much so my wife had the langoustines ravioli again and I had the foie gras again followed by the filet of beef, this time very poor as it was the tail of the fillet, was tough. Then it was chocolate profiteroles again. By this time 2.30 we were the only people left so go earlier. Would we go back, yes if they change the menu otherwise are going to try other restaurants in Pont Aven.

Choice of two set menu choices priced at €29 and €59. We opted for the €29 and were happy with our choice. Service was great; al least 4 different people served us, o e of whom was the restaurant owner. We shared a table with another couple who we befriended and have subsequently swapped details. There was a lovely ambience in the restaurant, with a terrific buzz of noise of diners chatting with each other. Would eat here again should we revisit the town.

The food here is amazing, great atmosphere the staff very friendly and professional and the price is very reasonable we had a set 3 course for 50 euro per person thank you very much...

Excellent restaurant of french fine cuisine. Very good value for money. I had probably one of the best fish ever. The chef prepared it to perfection. Do not expect large quantities, in this place quality and taste prevail. Also I really appreciated the attention to details like the diversity of the plates, cutlery, glasses. The staff pays attention to you without being invasive. This all made a very pleasant experience. Lunch menu with starters, main course and dessert was around 24€. Unbeatable at that level of French cuisine.

We had a really nice dinner together with friends on the terrace. All of us took the menu for 29€ - Taste explosion for the 'bisque langoustines, moules & boudin noir', 'merlu grillé, lentilles & souce bloody marry' and 'ile flottante' - helpful explanations and friendly service - recommendation!

Our 6th visit in three years to this wonderful restaurant. We had the set lunch menu of gnocchi with mushrooms which was divine. The gnocchi were like little pillows of air. Main was the duck with creamy mashed potatoes, beetroot and carrots. Simply delicious. So much flavour. The final course of a chocolate brownie with whole salted hazelnuts and a chocolate sauce with some salted caramel in it was a triumphant end. Washed down with a chardonnay/voignier. So good I have booked again for next week.

La Promenade was recommended to us by our Hotel and it was an excellent suggestion. A busy restaurant with excellent staff overlooking the river in a beautiful village. We enjoyed fish and chicken which were expertly cooked and delightfully presented. The restaurant has a modern interior but with plenty of character. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Good food at nice place. 21.90 for 3 course lunch at Pont Aven is not bad! We had a reservation but we couldn't choose where to sit (the nice view is inside, not on the terrace!). Anyway, you probably can't sit there if you don't have a reservation because the place was full! The food was ok. My friends had the plat du jour of Black Angus, with plain boiled vegetables. Very good quality of meat, well cooked but nothing i couldn't do at home. I had the Risotto de pomme de terre which was only with potatoes and no rice. It was a bit strange and i didn't like that the potatoes were undercooked. Also it lacked salt and pepper... Overall not bad, but not great and not a place i would want to visit again.

We had lunch to celebrate our diamond wedding. Were given a lovely window table, had a great meal and at the end (having mentioned the event briefly when booking) were each presented with a large plate on which a congratulatory message had been written in chocolate. Nice touch! And le patron came and added his good wishes personally.

We spent a very beautiful hour or so seated by a window overlooking the river in the comfort of La Promenade. The food that we were served was refined and varied. The service was at the level of a very high-end establishment. We would love to return.

This was such a discovery! We were looking for a relaxed restaurant which would offer great food at a reasonable price, and we couldn’t have found a better place in Pont-Aven. Friendly, professional, discreet service. Beautiful setting and tasteful decor, and the food was a treat!

The food is, as ever, of a very high standard. In particular, the presentation of each dish is outstanding! The staff are very professional and extremely helpful and friendly.

We had an excellent meal at L’Oxydatif. The food was completely delicious, we really enjoyed the accompanying wines. The service was excellent and fun. Overall a very positive gastronomic experience, and we can’t wait to go back.

We had the most delicious meal here and matched by beautiful wine and charming service. Only one choice for starter but two for mains. Cheese and dessert also available- we saw no vegetarian options. Everything was locally sourced and organic. Strongly recommended ❤️
