Restaurant
Nestled in a Grasmere village, The Jumble Room is a vibrant and relaxed restaurant that prides itself on using local and organic ingredients. While fine dining has made its mark in the Lakes, this eatery offers a more casual yet special dining experience. From spiced almond fritters to delectable desserts, the menu features delicate and delicious starters and satisfying puddings.
We had a amazing dinner here, our host Emily was so warm and welcoming. There's vegan options on the menu but she also made me some off the menu dishes which were really good. It has a great atmosphere I highly recommend!

Wow! What a wonderful evening. My wife and I were welcomed with a warm smile at the bar and shown to a cosy corner table, tucked beside a stack of nostalgic Desperate Dan comics from the ’90s. Our waiter, Ross, looked after us brilliantly – friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to chat with throughout the night. The food was outstanding: beautifully presented, packed with flavour, and faultless from start to finish. The Jumble Room really lives up to its name, a vibrant mix of quirky art, and vintage comic books, and an atmosphere that makes the whole place feel special. If you get the chance, don’t miss it. We certainly won’t, we’ll be back.
George M — Google review
What. A. Meal. The food was flawless. The atmosphere was perfect. And I cannot begin to describe how amazing Emily, Ross and the rest of the lovely staff are as hosts. Warm, friendly, attentive and nothing is too much to ask. This is the second time we’ve been back here and there will definitely be many more to come. I cannot recommend the jumble room enough for honestly any occasion. We were a party of 7 and had three courses plus drinks and there was not a fault to be found. Thank you for having us!!

Food was incredible I had the courgette for starter And lamb and aubergine for main. Staff are super nice and its a lovely quirky place to eat and drink with awsome cocktails
Liam G — Google review
Absolutely perfect! I couldn't think of a single way to improve it. The food was phenomenal with such unique depth of flavour. The decor was lovely and the service was absolutely fantastic. I could not recommend more highly!
Ellen H — Google review
Fantastic cosy eclectic atmosphere. Friendly welcoming attentive staff. Delicious cocktail and slow Lebanese lamb stew. Looked after me as a single diner.
Helen D — Google review
This restaurant is absolutely fantastic, literally the best meals we’ve had this year. The staff are friendly, engaging and amazing hosts. The food is beautifully prepared. I went straight to the mains and had a slow cooked Moroccan Bhaharat lamb stew, with aubergine which was extremely tasty. Fennel pomegranates and mint with it. My wife and daughter went for salmon with a lemongrass curry sauce and pak choi. Extremely fragrant and beautifully prepared. We had cocktails with it, and I particularly recommend the Bakewell tart (Amaretto with cherry and Prosecco). The puddings were great, we went for churros, and cheeses. A truly amazing evening, and thank you to the wonderful staff!
Philip C — Google review
This resturant is a gem, where you are made to feel like part of the family the minute you walk through the door. Chrissy is a true artist. Her food and flavours are out of this world. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. Emily was just as excited about our meals as we were. I absolutely LOVE the Jumble Room and we will be back. Such an awesome awesome treat. Good food, great people and a full dining experience in a setting that is eclectic. This little Gem of a resturant is a must!!!

Modern British restaurant
Fine dining restaurant
The Old Stamp House Restaurant is a charming British eatery that prides itself on using locally sourced rare breed meats and foraged goods. The restaurant offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a unique touch of personalization as guests are greeted with a letter from the chef explaining the inspiration behind each dish. Run by Cumbrian brothers, Ryan and Craig Blackburn, the restaurant's menu is heavily influenced by Cumbria's heritage, people, and landscape.
10/10, cozy atmosphere, absolutely amazing courses (including the vegetarian tasting menu too), only gripe would be that the pace at the start was good with food trickling out but by the 4th course it got quite slow and we were there got nearly 3hrs which meant my back started to hurt, didn't take away from the lovely evening though. My bf had the wine tasting menu which was a nice touch but the waiter bringing the wine out was very quiet and seemed almost nervous explaining each wine and we didn't really learn anything from it.
Issy B — Google review
Food, wine pairing, staff friendliness and ambiance of the venue is first class. The chef bringing out the main dish and having a chat with every guest was a nice touch. The restaurant is decorated in dark colours and striking art work. Every single dish was an explosion of flavours that worked perfectly. The only disappointment was my boyfriend made a note on our reservation that it was my 40th birthday (actually the day itself) and offered to pay more money to do some sort of treat over dinner to acknowledge this and nothing was done. And the table next to us got a “happy birthday” from their waitress with a dessert that said “happy birthday” and from a sounds of it another complimentary dessert dish so that was sad for us both to witness when he hoped for something similar especially being such a milestone birthday.
L A — Google review
Without doubt the best meal I have ever had! I could not fault a single thing. Each course was delicious. The staff were great. Terrific wine list. Wonderful atmosphere. Yes- this is a rave review!
Michael M — Google review
This was our favourite meal during our stay in Ambleside. Everything was so well done here from start to finish. The explanation, the appearance, presentation, and taste were exemplary. We loved it all and will definitely be recommending to our friends. Well done to all the chefs and staff here who obviously work so hard to produce such a wonderful experience for their customers.
Dave P — Google review
Had zero expectations when booking the Old Stamp House for dinner. To say I was pleasently surprised would be an understatement. A truly special experience start to finish. Impeccable service from when you walk in the door, the level of attention to detail and presentation with each dish is impressive. 11 courses on the atumn menu which are all timed well, use the best of the best produce and every element is carefully thought out and elevated. The best meal I've ever had by far. A must visit for a stay in the Lake District.
Brianna B — Google review
An amazing restaurant. Well worth booking ahead of time. Staff were friendly, and professional. Ambience was very comfortable. We went for lunch. All the courses were excellent. The chef served eveyone and had a pleasant conversation with all the clientele. There was even a letter written by Ryan to the guest, set on each table. A unique experience and would highly recommend.
The S — Google review
From start to finish excellent! Thank you team The Old Stamp House for a wonderful evening. We much appreciated the unique and personal touch on behalf of the owner Ryan that has added so much value to the dinner. What is this? Well, visit and see!
Ramona R — Google review
Great service and excellent value. We loved the opening dishes but felt the latter part of the menu was very heavy and a bit overwhelming in terms of the flavours and depths of the dishes which drops it from being a five star for us. Still, an obviously deserved award winning restaurant with plenty of character, honesty, flair and talent leading the kitchen delivering a down to earth experience. We thoroughly appreciated the accompanying notes for each dish. We would return and try again.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Ambleside, Lake Road Kitchen is an intimate dinner-only restaurant that offers creative locavore tasting menus with optional wine pairings. The modest yet chic space sets the stage for a culinary journey led by chef James Cross, who draws from his experience at Noma in Copenhagen to create radical cuisine.
Did the 5 course meal to dip our toes into our first Michelin locally, definitely plan to do the 12 course. The flavors and dishes were well thought out and beautifully layered. The salmon dish and peas were PHENOMENAL. We even took home some fermented butter, which was insane! Definitely will make our way back and well worth the experience.
Patricia D — Google review
This food is unforgettable. This is the first Michelin-starred restaurant my wife and I have been to. My wife is vegan and I ordered the vegetarian menu. They were so accommodating and recreated most of the dishes based on our restrictions, but the food tasted like it was meant to be that way to start. The staff was also great, they were super friendly. Overall I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The only negative was that it ruined the rest of the food during my stay.
Amanda R — Google review
We had the 8 course tasting menu in the wonderful Lake Road Kitchen. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. The food was exceptional. This is what a tasting menu is all about. Not everything scored top marks for us but we still recognised the skill and invention that had gone into the dish. The salmon was our favourite and the cheesecake was exquisite. A truly wonderful experience and we would thoroughly recommend.
Dave P — Google review
It was a perfect place to wrap up my holiday. My friend recommended me the LRK and it was worth it! My favourites were iberico with egg yolk, octopus and wagyu and all the rest! Basically I haven’t left anything. I’m not a sweet tooth but both desserts were just right for me. Some sauce was a bit salty for me, but it’ll be okay for most people. Service was great and wine pairing was great too! Thank you!
M S — Google review
Great Michelin restaurant, perfect for a date. The intimate setting with few tables makes it feel private and special. The food was delicious, though we expected a bit more “wow” from the menu. Service was superb.
Kwang S — Google review
We chose the 12 course meal with an added course and dessert, and it was worth every penny! Every plate was beautifully plated, and phenomenal. The head chef, James came out to explain several of the dishes in detail, from what makes the ingredient unique, to how it was sourced and prepared. The explanations of every dish made this a fascinating experience that set it apart from other Michelin restaurants since it’s never the chef, and the plates are not always explained in detail. The other servers/chef were all kind and friendly as well. We also loved how certain ingredients were paired with preparations that you would never think of, such as pea miso or barley koji. Being Japanese, I loved how old Japanese methods were used on untypical ingredients. Lastly, James and Darren (sommelier) chose a few wines for us, and they went perfectly with our meal. The wine pairing would be a good choice at this restaurant. The dishes are spaced with enough time that you wouldn’t have to rush drinking every glass, and their wines are incredible. If you are visiting Ambleside, this restaurant is a must! It was the highlight of our time in the UK, and will definitely be back if we’re ever in Ambleside again.
Keiko M — Google review
I was surprised with the 8 course tasting menu for my 25th birthday! James, chef patron, was a legend. You can tell he cares so much about his food. The bread was the BEST bread I've ever had. The butter that came with it was dry aged and it tasted meaty with the bread. My favourite dish, although it's hard to choose, was the salmon. I savoured every bite. I crave for pistachio gelato every time I visit a hot country in Europe. To have this at home in the Lakes, and not only this, but the best quality pistachios paired with British cherry jam. Incredible. Also, shout-out to Darren who was an exceptional server. Hats off, the experience really felt once-in-a-lifetime as I'll remember this meal for the rest of my life. They also made me feel very special on my birthday, which I didn't expect at all. Worth every single ££ spent and it was a privilege to be able to go there.

Lake Road Kitchen in Ambleside is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere and the attentive staff made us feel right at home. The menu is a delightful foodie journey, each dish expertly crafted and beautifully presented. There was no standout dish for me as they were all outstandingly good. The wine pairing was impeccable, enhancing the flavours of each course. The attention to detail and the passion for culinary excellence are evident in every bite. It's clear that the team at Lake Road Kitchen takes great pride in what they do. This was more than just a meal; it was an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming village of High Newton, Heft is a delightful transformation of an old pub into a sophisticated dining experience that opened its doors in the summer of 2021. The brainchild of local couple Kevin and Nicola Tickle, this restaurant showcases their deep-rooted connection to Cumbria's culinary heritage. With Kevin’s impressive background at renowned establishments like L'Enclume and Forest Side, diners can expect a menu that reflects both innovation and tradition.
We went for the £50 set lunch mid-week and very much enjoyed it. It is interesting and well-prepared food and in general the service was very good. The wine list gets a special mention as it has a lot of interesting wines by the glass. My main criticism would be that they do not have a phone so if you have any last minute issues (which we did) there's no quick way to give them a heads up. Would definitely go again.
Alex P — Google review
We went to Heft for Sunday Dinner full of high expectations. This is not our first time at a Michelin starred restaurant and have been to a few in the area that have been fantastic. We received a warm welcome in the bar on arrival and had drinks whilst we waited for our table. We ordered the beef, which can only be ordered for two people, not individually. All the sides were lovely although I think it’s a bit much that you are charged extra for gravy and it wasn’t that flavoursome! Our biggest issue was the beef. I like my beef rare but only when it is a good piece of beef. Ours had a lot of sinew in it and therefore was not easy to eat. We had a few pieces that were ok but not particularly full of flavour. Both the desserts we had were nice- pavlova and sticky toffee pudding but pretty standard. The staff were efficient but not particularly engaging and just seemed to want to put the food down and go. We really wanted this to be a great experience and it’s such a shame it fell short.
Helen W — Google review
I think we were expecting too much. Four of us walked an hour from where we were staying as this was the nearest place with food. We didn't want the posh dining so went for the bar food. The two things we all wanted were sold out (it wasn't late) so we elected for shepherds pie. This turned out to be a very small pie (almost comedically so tbh), with gravy and red cabbage. There were no other veggies available. Whilst tasty, it was very small, and there were no options to add sides. The gravy was excellent, but I don't consider it to be a side. Pudding was a small bar of chocolate. All in, one of the most disappointing pub meals I've ever had. Beers were good, so no complaints there. Atmosphere quite nice in an old pub that's been updated kind of way. I think this place needs to rethink what it's doing in the bar area - why have a Michelin starred restaurant in one half, and then something so disappointing in the other?
Matthew D — Google review
I made this reservation after searching for a nice place to visit to finish our holiday in The Lake District. For us Heft was a 25/30min drive from our accommodation. We were not disappointed, everything from the bread and butter to our desserts was fantastic. We had the Sunday 2 course menu and chose the beef which was melt in the mouth moorish! We ordered additional sides, definitely more than we needed but wanted to try everything that appealed to us. Heft is located in a lovely spot, even if you just wanted to sit outside with a glass of something refreshing. I would definitely visit again and would recommend to anyone in the area to try.
Yasmin D — Google review
Early evening Sunday dinner was delicious at Heft. We had the hoggett with cauliflower and macaroni cheese; we didn't need the potatoes as portions are generous. Good quality ingredients simply but deliciously done. The absolute stand out of the meal was the sticky toffee pudding which tasted like the hard toffee my grandma used to make - I'd go back just for that. Great wine and friendly service too.
Sarah P — Google review
Lovely country location. The front of the restaurant is rustic, the main dining is done in a modern theme, I preferred the rustic look. The food was not amazing. Some dishes were salty and flavors were either too strong. Nothing was delightful. The food presentation was to a hight standard, but the proof is in the eating. Sadly we did not enjoy the food.
The S — Google review
We went to Heft for their famous Sunday lunch to celebrate a family occasion. And their already amazing reputation came out of this unscathed. The food was fantastic in every respect: presentation, variety, generous portions (yes, we did take a “Heftovers” bag home), and oh-so-delicious taste and flavours. Service, especially from junior serving staff, was great.
Wlodek T — Google review
We had a fantastic time visiting Heft enjoying their set dinner - delicious creative food, incredibly tentative and friendly staff going above and beyond plus a beautiful pub with a relaxing atmosphere. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a special meal out.

Vegetarian restaurant
Chesters By The River is a bright and modern cafe located in the Lake District, offering a riverside deck where visitors can enjoy homemade lunch, wood-fired pizza, and classic cakes. Despite the usual lack of conscientious food venues in tourist areas, this cafe stands out as a gem with its great food at reasonable prices.
I come here more than I care to admit. Mostly because they are a reliable place to get a great coffee and cake that are gluten and dairy free. The outdoor seating is beautiful and picturesque and the shop next door is perfect for interior inspiration or picking up gifts.
Olivia L — Google review
An absolute gem of a vegan/vegetarian coffee shop set in the heart of the stunning Lake District. It’s honestly disappointing to see negative reviews simply because they don't serve animal products — especially in a region overflowing with places that cater to meat eaters. The food here is absolutely delicious; so well crafted that if you didn’t know, you’d never guess it was entirely plant-based. A perfect spot for anyone who appreciates great food, beautiful surroundings, and a more conscious, kind way of eating. Easily 5 stars!
Gabriella M — Google review
Really lovely place. Setting is beautiful. Walked our dog along the river quickly before settling down to eat and we sat outside on the pretty veranda. Went on bank hol weekend so expected to wait a bit but got a table straight away, ordered straight away and food came out quickly! I don't know what the other negative reviews are talking about! Staff were super friendly, chatty and helpful. Food was delicious. Got a salad plate for lunch and then a take away vegan sausage roll and rocky rd for tea after a walk around Rydal water, they were also both so tasty. We are already planning to come back in a few weeks as it was so nice!
Kate — Google review
Lovely cafe by the river. Really good food and very filling. Had half a frittata and a blueberry scone. The scone was just perfect. Staff were friendly. The only downside is how busy it gets at peak lunch time in summer when during the week. Prepare to queue.
Deborah E — Google review
I love this cafe for the blackcurrant scones. They are big and fluffy with juicy blackcurrants in, served with clotted cream and juicy blackcurrant jam. I’ve been here many times and always get the blackcurrant scone with jam and cream and they are always perfect.
Julie A — Google review
I don't know why my wife loves coming here. It does have a lovely position by the river, but very limited parking and it is very busy. They serve a strange selection of food here, like some Indian food and other stuff I don't know what it is. The Indian food smells nice if that's what you want. But if you are there for a cuppa and a scone or cake, its very strong. I am not a fan of the very shabby sheik either. If it's good weather it's really nice to sit outside. The shop is much better decorated and has an excellent range of luxury goods of craft and art and home. Not my cup of tea for a place to eat, though.
Richard T — Google review
Nice cafe and good location by the river, but service could have been better. Also on a hot day, we had to sit inside due to many wasps bothering us outside. Also saw some wasps on the baked goods available to buy. Definitely put me off getting a doughnut.
Graham F — Google review
I went to Chesters years ago and have raved about the food ever since. Recently planned a trip back to Ambleside and chose to stay close to Skelwith Bridge because of Chesters. Was then rather sad to be told of some poor reviews (admittedly on Facebook), but I can confidently say it’s at least as good as it ever was. The staff are lovely; it can be busy but the staff were so genuine and kind, looking after everyone so calmly. Then the magic words when I asked “which of your cakes are vegan?” “All of them.” I could barely believe it, after most places will offer a flapjack or a beetroot cake, here you had the choice of brownies, stuffed croissants, doughnuts, fruit scones, cakes and more, then the savoury pies, and pastries. It’s amazing! And don’t worry if you’re not a herb munching emo hippy, the food tastes so good you won’t notice! The location is still as beautiful, with the river, the fells, and the covered outdoor seating. On sunny days you can spot an F-15 or Typhoon if you’re quick. It was already busy on a wet morning in March at 10, so I imagine it’s crazy when tourist season gets going. The car park is small, and turning can be tricky depending on how others park. I recommend a walk off Loughrigg early for stress free, and well earned, perfect snacks.

Nestled in the heart of Kendal, Baba Ganoush is a delightful vegetarian café that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. This charming spot not only welcomes your furry friends but also serves up an impressive array of Mediterranean-inspired dishes. With a menu featuring four homemade soups daily, freshly baked sourdough from a nearby bakery, and an enticing selection of grilled sandwiches, wraps, and salads, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
We were visiting the Lake District and really wanted to visit this cafe. We arrange our whole day around it as it closes at 3pm. It was well worth the decision. The quaint little cafe was lovely and the service was excellent. The food was so flavoursome, all vegan and simply wanting more. The cakes were delicious and coffees were just perfect! Would definitely recommend this place and would definitely visit again!

This place is SENSATIONAL. I had the roasted aubergine Buddha bowl special with gunpowder potatoes and some salads, and it was the most delicious thing I’ve eaten in ages. I’m in Kendal frequently for business and I’ll be coming here for lunch every time from now on! Amazing little place.

Recommended to us as a good place to eat by a local shop owner and it didn't disappoint. Extensive menu to choose from. The cakes look splendid. We chose a salad but nothing like a salad you'd have had before. Very satisfying. Came away inspired to try different recipes at home. The staff are lovely.

We had a fantastic dining experience at Porto Restaurant! The food was excellent across the board—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The mixed kofta stood out with its perfectly seasoned meat and juicy texture. The risotto was rich and creamy, cooked to perfection, and the grilled chicken sandwich was a satisfying choice—light yet full of flavor. What truly made the visit special was discovering their impressive kids’ menu. It was a nice surprise to find such a well-thought-out selection for little ones, offering both variety and quality—a rare find in many restaurants. Overall, a great spot for families or anyone looking to enjoy delicious food in a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Great restaurant, I booked a table for my partners birthday. They decorated the table with a few birthday bits which was lovely of them and they didn’t have to do! The food just added to the experience, the belly pork and Cumbrian chicken was absolutely delightful. To finish things off, the brownie and ice cream was superb. Would recommend here to anyone visiting the Lakes! Thank you guys!

Well presented food and pleasant service. Went here as the places on the waterside were crowded and we wanted something a bit more than pub grub. Particularly enjoyed the beef bourguinion profiterole.

What an amazing place. Ignore josh farrer, he must have given a bad review to get a free meal. Clown. The place is not like a working mens club at all. It is really nice inside. The food however we had today was exceptional. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. The flavour of the jus was so good. The chips are mental, so big but stunning. The chicken tagliatelle was oustanding too. Definitely recommend this place

Wow, the food, ambiance and drinks were delicious. The cheese souffle starter was exquisite. I couldn't get enough of it. For mains, I had the pork, which was delicious and the other had steaks and all enjoyed them. The wines were excellent, as was the after dinner port. The desserts were also a hit with us all. Excellent atmosphere and our server was excellent and friendly. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed a wonderful birthday evening meal at Porto yesterday. Thank you to all the staff. We are staying at a five star hotel with a Michelin star restaurant in Windermere and we both preferred the food at Porto. Not just the food, there was a vibrant atmosphere and every table was occupied. Staff are attentive and professional. Well done.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Brown Horse Pub. The service was exceptional and the staff were so friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming, which really made the visit special. The food was outstanding, cooked to perfection, and truly faultless – every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The facilities were spotless and very well-maintained, which added to the overall comfort and enjoyment. I couldn’t be more satisfied with my visit with the family. This place s highly recommended and I’ll definitely be coming back very soon! Great work to all those working in the pub restaurant.

We had a 3 night stay in the 'pods' run by the owners behind the pub and because the food was so good we ate here all 3 nights, no need to go further. We both had the rib-eye steak first night which was deliciously done, juicy and tasty with a lovely garlic and chive butter which made it indulgent. Nice green bean and chunky chips. Yum. Then 2nd night we both chose the chicken and mushroom pie which had been freshly done. Again delicious, plenty of chicken pieces in a lovely creamy sauce and the pastry was flaky and buttery and not too thick. Smooth mash and flavoursome gravy. Yum. Night 3 we actually chose different dishes 😂 my wife had the fish pie which was also delicious, creamy mash, plenty of fish and prawns, generous portion which was polished off. I chose the fish and chips which again was a generous portion, big piece of fish in good crispy batter nicely cooked. Nice tartare sauce, mushy peas and plenty of fries. Really nice. Oh forgot to mention the desserts we shared, 1 sticky toffee pudding, 1 mess dessert and a few dollops of ice cream, all were yummy. Thanks to the staff who were friendly and smiley and attentive at all times and the kitchen crew for producing really good food. Out of the way and some dishes a little pricey but would definitely recommend.

The Waiter brought out water for the table on two separate occasions without us needing to ask (free of charge) The food was incredible, we all had something different but all said how fantastic it was cooked. Extremely professional set up and a great chef I the kitchen! Thanks again

Quiet village pub with a Michelin star heart. We walked in and felt very welcome. We decided to try the 10 course taster menu. Absolutely blown away by the food. Everything was perfect! The herb fed chicken with mushroom purée and their take on a coronation croquette were worth a mention from the main courses. The poached apricot with peach liquor and apricot iced cream was hands down the nicest dessert ever! 100% worth a visit. Excellent value for money for what you get.

Lovely pub with a great tasting menu. The wine pairing was particularly good, the standout was a Spanish vermouth with the tiramisu. Dog friendly was a real bonus.

We have dined here before when on holiday in the lakes and we were looking forward to returning as everything was amazing last time. However the service tonight was poor, not very friendly, not very attentive. Never checked to see if we wanted more drinks or refilled our water throughout our main and dessert courses. Food was lovely but not quite at the level it had been previously. Would expect more for price point and compared to our previous experience.

My wife and I dined here last night to celebrate both her birthday and the birth of our son. We had the tasting menu which consisted of 10 delicious courses. My wife enjoyed the mocktails on offer while, I had had the wine pairing. Szandra came and explained all about the wines that I would be having throughout the evening and how they paired with each meal. Each one was perfect with the food. I also have a nut allergy which they catered for with no problems. The service was excellent with emails before we even got there, to the explanations of ingredients in each course for me. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for helping us celebrate.

Wonderful meal to celebrate our pearl anniversary, complimentary glass of fizz to start (thank you). Everything was delicious from start to finish and a box of petit fours to take home. They certainly deserve their Michelin star. Three course meal for £69 very reasonable for the quality of the food. We pre-booked a dog friendly table. We ate souffle and pasta for starters, hogget for main & tart and creme brulee for dessert.

Great restaurant. We had a booking that we moved a few days later. Unfortunately they had no record of the change. Panic. However the staff were accommodating and found us a table. The food was really good, the atmosphere was very cosy and pleasant. The service I would say was a 3 star, as the staff seemed to be over busy, maybe they were a little short on numbers. Would definitely recommend.

My partner and I visited for her birthday recently and were blown away by the quality in both food and service of the staff and the Dog & Gun Inn. The vibe here is a perfect combination of relaxed and high quality food from the surrounding area. Where to start with the food..? My partner convinced me to join her with the tasting menu, as I was concerned there might not be enough to fill me up 😂, thank god I was wrong. Every single dish was amazing with personal highlights of the Lamb Bhuna and the Dover Sole 🤩. Added bonus of being able to bring our dog along with us (Tell me another Michelin star restaurant where you can do that 🥰🤎) who was made to feel welcome by the staff and relaxed the whole evening. Thank you again D&G for making the birthday celebrations very memorable. We will certainly be back to visit again in the future ☺️🙏🏽

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Angel Lane Chippie, located in Penrith, is the town's oldest fish and chip shop run by a passionate father and son duo. Housed in a building dating back to the 1800s, this quirky takeaway has been serving top-quality traditional fish and chips since 1928. The shop has garnered several awards in recent years, attracting both locals and visitors from afar due to its proximity to the M6.
We ordered Fish and Chips take out from Angel Lane Chippie on Saturday night when visiting Penrith. The service was outstanding as was the food. The Chippie shop is really cool with great decor and atmosphere. We loved the Fish and Chips with he spicy curry sauce. A must visit when in Penrith. Outstanding.

We ordered fish chips and mushy peas after visiting the cinema in Penrith. The fish was over cooked and the batter was soggy, the chips were under-cooked some too hard to eat, the peas were good but a small portion. Generally a very poor meal and cost £26. Waste of money and will never go there again and will tell friends and family to avoid.

Wow! What a clever set up. The food was lovely too. Ordered a child’s fish and chips and a jumbo sausage. Was £5.60. Such good value and a good portion for our five year old too. Henrock, located in the Linthwaite House Hotel overlooking Lake Windermere, offers a unique dining experience with a blend of locally sourced produce from the Rogan farm and foraged ingredients. The menu showcases Asian influences and features visually stunning dishes served on slates and handmade ceramics. As the more relaxed counterpart to L'Enclume in Cartmel, Henrock provides an excellent option for those seeking Simon Rogan's culinary excellence in a more informal setting.
A delicious tasting menu, presented beautifully, accompanied by some good wines. We were a little nervous about returning to the restaurant after a disappointing afternoon tea with our parents when the place first opened, some years ago. However, we are now so pleased we returned. The tasting menu on New Year's Eve was excellent and admittedly beyond our expectations. Each course was well-executed, beautifully presented and served delightfully by attentive staff. We particularly enjoyed the Ox Cheek but all the courses were consistently good. The wine flight, although not as prestigious as at the chef's other restaurants, was nonetheless well selected, with some lovley examples of quality wine. We will be back to enjoy Simon Rogan's Henrock again in the future.
Mark C — Google review
Loved it all. The food, the service, the vibes of the beautiful grounds that overlook the lake. We were well attended to by Matthew and his team who clearly explained each Tasting Menu dish as it arrived. He was even so kind as to announce that the sun was setting and that best we went to the terraces for some photos to capture the moment. You could taste the Asian influences in the dishes for sure - sharp at points, tangy on others - and it puts a different spin on most other Western Tasting menus. The standout to me though has to be The Coal Fashioned, one of their new cocktails. Delicious. It goes well with the meal as the smoky palette complemented the dishes. Didn’t expect this, it was a nice surprise.

After doing some research and reading up on blogs, I booked Henrock for my husband and I to celebrate an anniversary and birthday. We were warmly greeted into the restaurant and sat at the table with a stunning view of the beautiful gardens. The lunch menu included starters, mains, dessert and a sweet. The starters were innovative and full of flavour. For mains we opted for the cod and lamb shoulder which were both delicious especially the cod which was cooked to perfection. The restaurant also arranged a surprise for the special occasion which was a lovely gesture. I highly recommend Henrock and the lunch menu covers a wide variety of dishes and is great value. The service was excellent we were looked after well by Matthew the waiter who was welcoming, funny and attentive. Each dish was explained well when brought out. You can also take a relaxing walk around the gardens and pond after lunch. I have already recommended the restaurant to friends and family. Henrock truly exceeded expectations 10/10 would definitely come back again.

My partner brought me here for Sunday lunch for my birthday - after a relaxing and lovely time having a coffee and then a drink in the lounge, we were warmly greeted and given our favourite table (we have been twice before). I was given a glass of fizz to celebrate, with our amuse-bouche, and then the delicious main course followed - perfect pink beef and roast potatoes and cabbage (beautifully prepared) - even though we were pretty full, we managed the lovely dessert! Such a lovely way to celebrate!

What a fantastic meal. Each dish was like a work of art, well thought out and tasted amazing. Our host was so friendly and attentive and took some lovely photos of us (we were celebrating our engagement). They also gave us an additional dessert for our engagement which was really kind. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the music is not loud so you can actually hear each other talking. The tables are nicely spaced so it does feel private and intimate. We opted for the tasting menu which was £95pp plus a bottle of the Portuguese Dao. The sourdough bread with miso butter was incredible but dangerous 🤣

From the moment we stepped into Henrock, we knew we were in for something extraordinary. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern sophistication and the natural warmth of the Lake District surroundings. Every detail, from the service to the plating, reflected the care and precision you expect from a Michelin-starred experience. Each course was a masterclass in flavor and presentation. The ingredients were clearly seasonal and sourced with care, but it was the creativity in the pairings and techniques that truly stood out. Every bite felt deliberate and balanced, yet never pretentious. The wine pairings were also spot-on, enhancing the dishes without overshadowing them. Service was professional yet warm, with the team striking that rare balance of attentiveness without intrusion. The pacing of the meal was flawless, allowing us to enjoy each course without ever feeling rushed. Henrock isn’t just a meal. It’s an experience. Whether you’re a seasoned fine-diner or someone exploring their first Michelin-starred spot, this is a destination worth traveling for. We’ll absolutely be back.

Edit, we retutned today for lunch. And it was so much better. We had cod, lamb, hen of the woods, with a variety of sides. It was all really good. Not sure why we had a poor experience on ourlast visit. The location is lovely, the atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant, comfortable furniture, interesting wall art. The staff were very accomodating and polite. Sadly the food was a big let down. We had the Sunday roast. The ptotatoes were hard and dry. The meat was warm and quite tough. The broad beans had no flavor. The carrots were okay. The bread was good and the deserts quite flavourful. Sadly we will not return anytime soon. I think when chef's expand their empire, especially at the top end, it's very hard to replicate the food experience . Simon is dependant on his chef's to reproduce his recipes, sadly this is not the case here.

The Lakes are one of my favourite places to get away from the day to day and on the last occasion we got to visit Henrock. Having heard great things we were not disappointed. As soon as we arrived the staff were fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the menu and pairing wine. We had dietary requests and again they were fantastic catering to our requirements. The restaurant was spacious and as it filled had a great atmosphere. The chefs culinary skills are exquisite. We didn’t want the meal to end every mouthful enjoying the flavours and textures. The food, its local source is part of the story of Henrock. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Lake District. We will be back.

Went for Sunday lunch with no expectations. We booked a table and arrived on time. The young man sat us st a table and got us drinks, after about 5 minutes he brought us menus, he was very good and explained about the Sunday dinner and the specials board. We both ordered beef with all the trimmings. When it arrived it was a big plateful and was presented beautifully. The food itself would not have been out of place in any restaurant. The beef was laid on a bed of red cabbage, vegetables were just right and not mushy. The Yorkshire pudding were large and held the gravy well. This was the best meal out for a long time and worth more than we paid for. Beautiful food at a very reasonable price. Thank you.

Casa Bella is a versatile establishment that combines an Italian restaurant, ice cream shop, and coffee bar all in one. The head pan wrangler, Guini Murtaza, infuses his passion for Italian cuisine into the menu which features a mix of traditional classics and daily specials. From Arancini di Riso to Seafood Pomodore and Tuscan Pork, the dishes aim to evoke thoughts of warmer climates.
I had the lamb dish. When I first saw it, I was disappointed. It didn't look like much food and the sear looked poor. But the lamb tasted very delicious. The lamby flavour was very subtle and otherwise tasted like a very tender steak. The wine reduction was a great accompaniment. The potatoes were not bad and the veg were fine but could have been spruced up with more salt and butter. The chips were very hot and crisp and another highlight. For the dessert I had a sticky toffee pudding with the homemade ice cream. The ice cream was very good. The sticky toffee pudding seemed to have been microwaved, which was OK. It was soft, hot and taste like toffee, with a salty sauce on and around it. It was good until it cooled down and became hard, as things do when they're microwaved.

We went here in May and we needed a reservation. The restaurant and staff were lovely. Unfortunately there was an issue due to which we didn’t get our food for a really long time but the staff did apologize and compensated us for our drinks. The downside was that we got delayed with our own plans for the evening. The 4 stars is for our own experience however in general I can’t fault the restaurant itself. The food and vibe was great and we would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area!

Not a clue why this place has >4 stars. Sham Italian Restaurant serving frozen pizzas. Definitely a frozen pizza bc #1 the crust is awful, #2 its shredded cheese. You can see the strands of shredded cheese on the edge of the pizza. I had a peek at all the other pizza flavours other tables had ordered and they were the EXACT SAME frozen pizza base with some added topping. The Lamb Ragu with Linguine was the special of the day and set us back TWENTY POUNDS ????. Which would have been fine if it was good, but I've cooked better ragu in my uni kitchen than this. Flavour was completely flat, lamb was dry and tough, and there were a total of 3 carrot ends that were left in the ragu and actually served to us! Not to mention the random whole bulbs of pearl onion. Lazy cooks are not necessarily bad cooks, but this was both lazy and bad. The cheese they gave us to add on top of the ragu was the powdered(?) grainy kind you get at fast food restaurants. Staff were lovely though. Also this place is always packed for some reason and we had to make a reservation a day in advance. Anyone trying to take your partner here for a date, there is better food 3 minutes away at the Wetherspoons.

Absolutely beautiful food here, came here last year and this year for my birthday. On both occasions we have visited we have thoroughly enjoyed the meals, the staff members have been great/lovely and the clean restaurant. A staff member even took our photo for us happily and food arrived in great time. I cannot find the photos of the meal but we had a delicious bolognese and another pasta dish

Smashing place to eat in Keswick. Good range of dishes, specials and pizzas all at reasonable prices. Pleasant surroundings. No loud background music so you can converse easily. [Why is it called "background" when it is so intrusive you can't hear to think let alone speak?] Anyway, none of that!
Stuart W — Google review
We’d had a hell of a day and just wanted somewhere to eat, and we were so glad we picked this place. The food was like heaven and we both thoroughly enjoyed it - still haven’t stopped thinking about it. We were struggling to decide what we wanted from the menu and the staff were kind, patient, and suggested some things off the menu. The lamb and sea bass is what we went for and both were delicious and beautifully cooked. Incredible flavours in both. Best potatoes either of us have had in a long time! And the veggies were cooked to perfection. Then for dessert we had the cheesecake of the day (raspberry and white chocolate) and gelato. Again, phenomenal taste - so creamy and delicious, beautifully presented! Can’t wait to eat here again one day (hopefully soon). Found a true gem in Keswick with this place!

We visited The Lakes Distillery when in the Lake District this past weekend. What a great experience. The distillery is located in a beautiful location (very scenic). Our friends had a tasting and the gentleman that was helping us on Friday afternoon was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Great experience. We had drinks and snacks in the Bistro and they staff was very friendly. Great atmosphere. The Lakes Distillery is a must visit if you are in the Lake District and enjoy whiskey, vodka, or gin. We loved our visit and highly recommend.

Came here for the distillery tour! We had a fantastic time. It was great to learn new stuff and the drink tasting was amazing. Stopped at the cafe for lunch. Some amazing choices for gluten free food as well as the regular food. Reasonably priced too!

10/10 experience! The location, the tour, the spirits, the atmosphere, the staff and premises! Everything was 100% spot on! Would recommend to anyone who is a fan of gin, vodka, whiskey or just the alchemy behind it all! Our tour host Janice was outstanding. Wish I wasn't so far away, it would be a regular go to! A very well received distillery, set in the stunning Lake District 🫶
Emily W — Google review
Loved this tour today, this is a fairly young distillery, they started producing gin and vodka so they had an income stream until after their first run of whisky, the tasting was great and the guide was very knowledgeable. Bought a few bottles.
Ian S — Google review
Took the tour which was well worth it. Our guide (didn't get their name) was very knowledgeable and at the same time kept it 'real'. It was good to see the transformation from a disused dairy farm to the wonderful distillery today. The tasting was good and enabled sampling of whisky, gin and vodka. Highly recommended.

I had the most fantastic tour of the Kakes Distillery. Janice took me round and she was brilliant! I can highly recommend the tour and their products. The Equinox whisky is superb. Thank you for such a brilliant tour and time.
Lee H — Google review
Fantastic place. The staff were all friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The tour is great and you get a whisky, vodka and gin taster at the end. The shop is very nice and has a great selection of whisky, gin and vodka. It's all immaculate. The bistro is also on site although I found it expensive, for what I got. A beef sandwich at £13.50 which was one slice of sourdough with a bit of beef. Nice but not value for money. Anyway the whisky tour was my thing and it was great. Plenty of on site parking and in a beautiful setting. Credit to the staff and owners who set this up, well done.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. A really informative and interesting tour of the distillery followed by a tasting session. The staff are friendly and made the tour fun. Good to see the process and taste the end results. Shop was good, bought a few bottles to take home. Recommend this to anyone.

The Square Orange Café, affectionately known as "The Squorange," is a cozy bar and eatery located in the heart of Keswick. This quirky little café offers a variety of options including Roman-style stone-baked pizzas, European-inspired tapas, and tasty nachos. They also have a wide selection of vegan options available. The café features guest wines from family-run vineyards, beer from local microbreweries, and coffee from Cumbrian roasters.
A lovely cafe in the centre of town. Exceptionally friendly staff who made sure we were looked after while we waited for our table. Food was equally good, particularly as it was prepared and cooked in the smallest kitchen I’ve ever seen. Would definitely eat there again.

Visited twice in two days. We had coffee and the most amazing lemon and raspberry blondies then went back for pizza the next night. The pizzas were some of the best we’ve ever eaten. Really recommend no 8 and 12 as well as the nachos.
Kate W — Google review
A great little cafe that is full of surprises. Didn't expect to find great pizza or tasty nachos. We started with coffee and cake, food orders are taken from 12pm. After that we ordered lunch, service was polite, and the food was very good indeed. What was fascinating is that the kitchen is one oven by the bar, and the chef is able to do his magic well in this tiny space. It does get busy so go early. The name has an interesting history, so ask. As a strange combination of bar, coffee shop, pizzeria and tapas, it works really well.

Est. 1998, this venue has stood the test of time for good reason. Its exquisite aesthetic is the perfect mix of charm & welcome! A very well thought out menu of tapas, pizza and deserts includes a lots of vegan options. Staff are dedicated and v friendly. There’s limited seating that can’t be booked in advance, so arrive before 1230 to avoid disappointment!

Amazing food! The wait times can be a while, but if you get there on a good day you may only have to wait 30 mins. Despite the wait, the place is fantastic. We loved it so much that we had dinner there twice. Great atmosphere and delicious food!

This restaurant is (probably) the best restaurant in the entirety of Keswick. A warm and friendly dining atmosphere, great tasting food, and best of all, you don’t need a bank loan to be able to afford it. Very reasonably priced for the quality. I would highly recommend visiting to anyone who’s in the area. The pizzas are especially very good.

This place is one of those restaurants that does everything right. Attentive service from the barman to the waitress. The atmosphere was buzzing on the 3 times we went there, and the food was consistently impeccable, again each time we visited. This is definitely a place you must go to eat if staying in Keswick.

Fellpack is a warm and inviting cafe that has been serving all-in-one meals and hearty comfort food since 2017. The restaurant has expanded to open The Round and moved to a larger premises, reflecting the demand for its innovative dining options in Keswick. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including lamb dhansak, Cumbrian beef ragu, and vegan teriyaki seitan steak. The cozy atmosphere is complemented by welcoming staff who are passionate about their work.
Probably the best place I’ve had a meal at in a long time from a point of view of every element. It was the perfect meal! The food was super delicious - their menu is super diverse so you might have a tough time choosing a dish for yourself. I went with the chicken tarragon and pork belly bites and gosh they were just perfect. The most tender piece of meat probably I’ve had! Coming to the stars of the place I.e. their staff - they’re just too nice! And not like “nice” you see in other restaurants. They talk to you like “normal people” and not their “guests”. Definitely recommend it to everyone visiting Keswick!
Arnab B — Google review
Came here twice over 2 days, really lovely and satisfying meals, their breakfast was nice and filling ahead of a day's hike, especially the breakfast bap! The burrito bowl and mac n cheese we had for lunch the following day were lovely as well, and the banana bread was not too sweet. Mixed opinion on the ice cream though, which tasted a bit like frozen yoghurt. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the place is comfortable to sit in :)
Emma — Google review
Stopped off here this afternoon for a late lunch and the food and drink was excellent. I had the special of Tarragon chicken on the menu and the Session IPA on draft which was flavourful and refreshing. Service was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. Food and drink were served quickly. Really good food quality and really tasty.

Very cool and trendy place with full bar. Booking is highly recommended. They also have rooms but we didn’t stay here. There is public parking (pay and display) just a short walk away. Stay was very friendly. They are dog friendly so our dog was very welcomed.

Honestly one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten. The pork belly was so tender it fell apart. The sausage pasta melted in the mouth. The whipped feta was so creamy and balanced and the brownie was to die for. Not to mention the twist on the passionfruit martini was chefs kiss (and strong!). Could not recommend more. The servers were so lovely and friendly. I was spoilt for choice as everything sounded so lovely and our waitress helped me choose the most outstanding courses. Will be coming back!!!

A great place for food and drink. The cocktails were excellent as was the food and service! Will definitely be back
Jamie S — Google review
We chose Fellpack for our penultimate dinner of the trip—but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The food was good…not the best but we enjoyed our dishes (shrimp curry and the lamb with a dark chocolate dessert with orange liqueur). When we arrived, we were seated next to a large birthday party. The group was loudly playing games, shouting, and completely overtaking the atmosphere. It was so loud we could barely hear each other speak. All of the surrounding tables—mostly couples—looked equally uncomfortable, but no one said anything, perhaps assuming the staff would step in. When we quietly mentioned it to our waitress, we were surprised to learn that two of the guests at the table actually work at the restaurant. No apology, no acknowledgment—just an incredibly loud and awkward evening. Fellpack missed the mark on hospitality and atmosphere.
Kelly B — Google review
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal at The Fellpack for a special birthday. The menu is limited but it suited us perfectly. Both our 'Fellpot' dishes and desserts were full of flavour, as were the cocktails which we had a treat. The atmosphere is contemporary but cosy, the staff were very attentive (one of us is coeliac) and friendly. Portion sizes could be a tiny bit larger. But overall we would definitely return!

While the tea room offers a refined experience, the bakery is where the best value lies. A café definitely worth visiting. Great selection of teas, coffee, food and sweet treats. The toasted sandwiches came with their own tomato and apple chutney which was great. The apple crumble with ice cream and the vanilla milkshake were particularly tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the atmosphere. A great stop in a lovely little village!

It was a good place for a coffee stop on our way up north to the lakes. Excellent selection of baked goods and cakes. We were more than happy with our coffee and quiet seat by the window in the bakery as the café part of the shop was very busy.

Despite the horrendous weather on the day of our visit, our mood was lifted by the great service at this establishment. The coffee, hot chocolate, scones and toasties were a delight and reasonably priced considering the quality of the establishment. We look forward to a return visit in better weather!

Probably the best bakery I have been to anywhere. All local ingredients and recipes, huge list of teas from all parts of the world. I had never heard of half the cakes they had, but the Cumberland rum Nicky was fantastic and I will be trying to bake one soon. Also superb prices - around £6-7 for freshly made excellent cake.

We visited here for lunch with our dog, following a lovely walk across the promenade. The staff were all friendly, attentive, and professional. Our food was hot, delicious, and beautifully presented. Tried this amazing restaurant today for a surprise birthday meal out and having travelled about 2hrs from Newcastle - you can’t fault even a dust to their food, ambiance, staff, everything! This place was gorgeous , A very calm and relaxed atmosphere. Amazing food and good service. Extremely attentive and kind staff. The food was phenomenal. I’m glad I chose this restaurant, as it was one of 3 choices I considered, and I’m not in Penrith, but I’d come back here without a shadow of a doubt next time, as it was just fantastic.

My favourite restaurant. Since my first visit in 2017, I have taken care to book a table here each time I come to the Lakes. The food is beautiful, with perfect portion sizes. I like the fact that the menu changes seasonally; I don't think I have ever ordered the same thing twice! Had an amazing meal here tonight. The set menu is great value and a wine pairing is suggested for each dish if you want to try it. Had the lamb - best I've ever eaten. If you are in Penrith would highly recommend. Service was perfect and nice relaxed atmosphere. Thanks Four & Twenty Team 👏👏

We really enjoyed our dinner there. Everything faultless: from the food to service. The weekday 3 course set menu was very good value. The slow cooked lamb shoulder was divine. Would come back any time! Do book in advance.

The best meal for our 4-day trip in Lake District. First of all, we received a very warm (on a wet and chilly day) and friendly welcome. The 2-course lunch menu we had was approaching fine dining quality but cost only 23 GBP. You may have a 3-course menu (starter, main and dessert) at 3 GBP more. That is absolutely value for money. This is a casual bistro style restaurant which also offers wine pairing. The recommended wines seemed to be very solid and reasonably priced. Too bad I could not taste any of them as I had to drive back to Glasgow after lunch. Overall, an ideal place to stop over for a meal if you pass by Penrith on your way to or back from the Lake District.

Cartmel Village Shop is renowned for its world-famous Sticky Toffee Pudding, which has been a favorite for over 30 years. The shop's handmade pudding, crafted from natural ingredients, attracts visitors from all over the country. Additionally, the shop offers traditional recipes utilizing wild foods and a range of comforting desserts. It also provides deli items, fresh produce, and store cupboard essentials.
Lovely village shop in Cartmel, bought several sticky toffee puddings, and had some posted to various family members in different parts of the country. There was a problem with the delivery and they were not received. The response from The Sticky Toffee Pudding Co. Was fantastic. They rang me and my wife back and resolved the situation, I can thoroughly recommend them they are excellent.

Legendary shop, the home of the Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding. And it was gooooood. They also sell food, cheese, sweets and all sorts of other flavpur puddings. Its a must stop for dessert fans. Get a takeaway from here, And or have the same pudding and have a seat at the cafe opposite. Parking outside the front if you're lucky. Or pay for parking in the massive lot behind the shop. Its reasonably priced. Check out the history of the pudding yourself as its quite quote interesting.

I need a Cart, melts my heart looking at all the produce! Great range of local products not forgetting the wonderful range of puddings (ginger is my favourite!) Brossen Steakhouse, located in Keswick's Inn On The Square, has earned an AA Rosette for its exceptional food. The menu features a variety of grill items such as ribeye steaks, chops, oak-smoked rump, T-bone and rotisserie chicken. Diners can choose from 15 side dishes including sweet potato fries and fresh house slaw.
We were able to walk in for a 3 course lunch with wine at 1:30 on a Saturday without a reservation. The service was good and we enjoyed the food very much. Would recommend the soufflé starter. It was very tasty with bacon and lots of cheese. For mains, we had the Ribeye and the Brossen oak smoked rump steak, and both were cooked medium, without blood running, as requested, and was delicious. We also enjoyed a blue cheese sauce with the steaks. We had a glass of Rioja and a glass of Primativo wine. Both were full-bodied and great with the steaks. The Rioja had a more smoky taste and the Primativo a more sweet raste. We also enjoyed their blackberry and apple crumble. They played upbeat music, which was a little too loud in the beginning, but they did turn it down a bit when asked. Overall it was a bit expensive but the food and wine were very nice.

Such a deceiving place, because it's a part of an inn. But don't let that fool you because the food is absolutely worth it. I've never tried a Yorkshire pudding this balanced. The Sunday roast is so underrated. It's the best experience I've ever had. From the sauces the the gravy, the gravy was just so well put together. And any one of the sauces was just so top tier. I just had no idea something like this could have so much flavour packed in. Whoever says british food is bad needs to come here and be proven wrong. Even their starters are so underrated. And completely changed my mind of what a scotch egg was. And to top it all off, the sticky date pudding not too sweet, balanced just right. Has a unique burnt flavour that complements the Bischoff so well Worth coming to Keswick just for this place! 10/10

We came in here for my mum’s birthday. The atmosphere and service was good, the food was really nice. The steaks were cooked well, the Korean chicken burger, lamb, and fish were also cooked well. The sticky toffee pudding was nice as well. It was worth the price. Our servers were very nice, and weren’t too intrusive.

One of the best meals I've ever had! Highly recommended! We did the Salmon lollipop for a starter, the charteubriand for the main, and the sticky toffee pudding as the dessert. The salmon lollipop was perfect for sharing and was a really clever idea. The meat was super juicy, so much so, we just could not resist devouring that first then having the sides that came with it (also nice) after. The sticky toffee pudding was also delicious.
Badrul — Google review
Great dining experience. We had the chateaubriand steak to share and it was perfectly cooked.
Oana P — Google review
A nice evening meal out. The decor and ambience of the restaurant was welcoming, light and open. You certainly felt like you were walking into a nice place. We were quickly escorted to our table and drinks ordered which came within 10 minutes. For starters we had ‘tempura’ sea food and chicken parfait. Unfortunately the batter was way to thick to be called tempura which was a shame because I ended up leaving over half the batter due to it being too thick and uncooked on the inside. I ended up taking out the shell fish. Which I will add. Was cooked beautifully. Very well cooked. Just a shame on the batter. The chicken parfait was very smooth and full of flavour with thick cut bread and sweet and tangy onion jam/marmalade. For mains we ordered 2x 10oz rib eye medium rare and 2 x 7oz fillet with 5 sides being 2 x chunky chips, ‘seasonal’ veg, onion rings (warning coming up) and creamed spinach. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly to our liking which were accompanied by a roasted tomato and shallot. The sauces again were very nice. Chunky chips were fluffy and crispy. The creamed spinach was amazing and had a nice thick layer of cheese on top. Now, the onion rings, came with a thin cheese (maybe Parmesan) sauce drizzled on top. Which wasn’t stated on the menu. Unfortunately my partner doesn’t like strong cheese so this was a big no for her. Big shame. The seasonal veg, isn’t what most would class as seasonal, more like steamed/boiled standard broccoli cauliflower carrots peas swimming in a shallow pool of water in the bottom of the cup. Overall, I would recommend and I would come again!
Tom — Google review
This really is a good restaurant. Have visited here several times and never had a bad meal. My starter ( scotch egg) was packed with flavour and my steak was juicy and perfectly cooked. Chunky chips were totally gorgeous. The restaurant is on the pricy end but it is worth treating yourself.

Kysty is a relaxed dining spot that offers multi-course meals with wine pairings for both lunch and dinner. The name, meaning "fussy" in Cumbrian dialect, reflects the insistence on local ingredients rather than the restaurant's mood. It is the more casual counterpart to the Michelin-starred Old Stamp House. Despite still offering set menus, macaron-style amuse bouches, and wine pairings, Kysty provides a shorter and more straightforward dining experience.
The day we had our lunch reservation, it rained heavily in the Lake District. Considering the cancellation fee, we struggled through the rain from Bowness to Amberside, but unexpectedly, it turned out to be a delightful meal. It was even one of the top 3 dining experiences of our whole UK trip. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Lake District. The restaurant's service was very friendly and professional. Based on recommendations, we ordered various appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Each dish was very satisfying. The Pigeon Breast was cooked like steak, juicy and sweet. The fish, Mackerel, was not fishy at all but with a good flavor. The dessert was a mousse with gingerbread, which I found to be very distinctive and delicious.

We had a beautiful meal with you yesturday evening, by far the best meal we have had in the lakes to date. Lovely staff, food very well presented, and allergies taken into consideration. Wine recommendations with each meal went really nicely with the meals we chose. Lovely atmosphere.

We received vouchers to dine here for our engagement and it was a lovely little treat. It is an A La Carte style menu with matching wine suggestions and there are plenty of options for everyone. All of the courses were beautifully cooked and presented and the staff were lovely! The only thing that didn’t wow me was the dessert and I love a good pud but overall the experience was 5*

A wonderful evening with top class food and excellent service. The staff were so helpful with food and wine choices for both one vegetarian and one meat eater. We would definitely recommend booking well in advance to anyone visiting Ambleside. Can’t wait to try the sister restaurant ‘The Stamp House’. Children on the next table, happy and content. Good atmosphere and chatty between tables. Good friendly ambience. Would recommend to all family and friends. Well deserving of our five stars.

Everything was 5 stars. It was our wedding anniversary so decided a treat was required. This exceeded our expectations. We chose to go with the wine pairing for each course and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I would definitely eat at Kysty again. We had a great night and we so well looked after by the staff. The food was truly incredible.

Hidden in a small alleyway away from the busy streets of Ambleside we discovered an hidden gem for culinary delight ;-) Bistro has a charming atmosphere and amazing staff providing a top notch service to guests. This was accompanied with amazing dishes that we enjoyed fully by us and our kids. Pre dinner snacks and bread were well presented and super yummy !! Venison and Fish mains were super yummy see photos. Accompanied by a good wine and local gin selection. Great evening out with delicate and well prepared food. Definitely will be visiting again in our next trip in Lake District Well done chef and team.

Amazing place. Chef went out of his way to prepare vegan and gluten free options for me which were incredible, he also came out to have a chat and ask me how the food was, which I really appreciate. All the staff here were friendly and welcoming and the whole restaurant has a beautiful vibe. Some of the best food we had in the lakes.
Sam B — Google review
I think this is the best restaurant I have ever been to. We arrived a little later than booked due to an accident on the road, but the staff were so polite and happy to still accommodate us when we were expecting to be turned away. We ordered starters, mains and desserts as we wanted to try a little but of everything. We received some complimentary nibbles before our starters arrived, which was such a lovely surprise and each thing that was served to us was a delicious mouthful of flavour heaven. We were also served a little bit of bread (I think they said that it was made with beer) which was very dense, but delicious and very filling. I really want the recipe to this bread so I can make it at home! Every time a dish came out, the waiter would kindly explain each element to us. The food is beautifully presented and each element of the dish really compliments the other. Even though the portions may be classed as small by some, they are incredibly filling and you definitely leave the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area and if I am ever back, will definitely visit again. For the quality of food you receive, this place is very reasonably priced as well.

With its friendly atmosphere and stunning scenery, it's an ideal place for a relaxed evening with friends or a romantic date night.
Good weather, a drink, the view over Windermere. What else is there to say. Great bar in a superb location. Ate and drank there and would recommend. Drinks a little pricey but you've got to remember where they are; prime site in a major tourist attraction. Get up on the balcony for a lake side view if you can. We were spoiled having visited during a dry and warm August. Great place to unwind

If you are visiting the Lake district for a pint with a perfect view, then the lake view garden bar is a must. It offers an amazing view of the lakes. There is a balcony or garden area to take in the views and atmosphere. There is also a qwerkyness to the place too if you chose to sit in, with plenty of decor to look around. The food is very nice too, it looks and tasted amazing plenty of choice to choose from not just your average pub food.

Fantastic place for food and drinks, stunning location with great views of the lake. Food and drinks aren’t the cheapest here but you need to remember you aren’t just paying for the food you are also paying for the location so it’s reasonable when you see the views! Highly recommend the burger and the cheesy garlic bread.

Lovely location and building. Let down by the poor service. The staff didnt give of a warm welcoming vibe and neither were they very attentive. This place could easily be alot more than what it is. Would reccomend for a quick drink but far nicer places to eat.

The award-winning pub serves excellent food featuring local treats like Lakeland damson and pork sausage, local game, and Cartmel lamb shank.
Lovely warm welcome and really attentive and pleasant service. Food was lovely but the twice fried chips were probably the best I've ever had. The rib eye steak was very thin and I didn't think they'd possibly have been able to cook it rare but they did! Very impressed. Lovely little village pub that's well worth visiting!

Cosy , quiet ,beautiful view and with good facilities inside the room. Parking was provided in the hotel. Though a bit tight but had enough spots to park in. Breakfast was included with the room. Had to walk to Angel Inn for restaurant just in front of hotel. Subtle ambience with cosy environment. You can order from breakfast menu for hot foods. We ordered English breakfast. It was delicious. Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! The hotel was easy to find, had its own parking and was located in the middle of down with everything on your doorstep. We were greeted by a lovely man who explained all the COVID safety measures and made us feel welcome from the start. The rooms were modern and clean and had a beautiful view of the lake. The following morning we had breakfast (which was included) which was really nice and the staff there were also amazing. Over all I could truly not recommend the hotel enough as I could not find any fault with our stay!

Arrived early morning(9:30am)so we could make the most of our time there. Asked if we was ok to leave car there until check in time. Was greeted by a lovely lady who said we was welcome to check in then as our room was ready. We had a standard double room (room8) and it was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent, had lots to chose from and the staff serving the breakfast was polite and nothing too much trouble at all. The hotel is in a great location, close to shops and lake. Had a lovely overnight stay there and would recommend highly. If we are ever visiting the area again we will be sure to stay here.

Had a lovely weekend at oakbank . We stayed in room 14 and loved the fact that it was outside of the main house. The only issue was the lighting. The room is quite dark with the only natural light coming from the glass paneled door. Could I suggest a brighter bulb or maybe a couple of bedside lamps. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice of items. Will definitely return.
Al D — Google review
Great, central position in Bowness....BUT....AVOID ROOM 1!!! We stayed for 3 nights....definitely NOT worth £110 a night! The en-suite was small and awkwardly laid out, we burnt our knees on the towel rail when sat on the toilet! It was also quite dirty, the dust and webs covering the whole length of the shower pull cord. The bed was small, but we knew it would be with it being a double room. The mattress was very uncomfortable so we decided to turn it over. BIG mistake as it was very stained on both sides. On the second day I made the mistake of laying on the floor to look for an item that had fallen off the bedside cabinet (cabinet was broken and everything rolled off it.) The carpet absolutely stunk, and to my horror there was the BIGGEST ball of human hair behind the chair I'd ever seen! Looks like it had been there a while....clearly the chair hadn't been pulled out to clean behind recently. The glass was broken on the window and sellotaped up, not the best look for a place of such good reputation. I gashed my arm whilst in the shower, the soap dispenser had VERY sharp edges. I informed a member of staff who immediately got the manager (Danny) but he didn't seem too interested and seemed to think it was my own fault when I showed him the problem. He gave me a plaster but never mentioned it again throughout our stay, never asking if my arm was ok. Pretty bad customer service. A totally different experience from when we stayed in 2015 where nothing was too much trouble and cleanliness seemed to be of a much higher standard. On a positive note....breakfast was delicious and GREAT views from the dining room. We won't be staying again unfortunately.

Lovely people and a proper lake view from our bedroom window. Room was clean and looked to have been recently refurbished probably during covid lockdown earlier this year. Excellent breakfast and a good night sleep on a decent bed. Good location with a number of restaurants a short walk away and only a few minutes walk away from the lake. Highly recommended for a break if you don't want a big chain hotel.

Fish and seafood restaurant
Hooked is a seafood restaurant that offers dishes with a global spin. Owner Michael Gould and chef Paul White focus on the quality of their food, with dishes like Cornish sardines served alongside capers and parsley butter earning acclaim. For main course, try fish that is both delicious and unique, such as swordfish served with peppercorn sauce.
We ordered a dozen of rock oysters to start with and they are very fresh and nice. But unfortunately, we could not order another dozen as we wanted due to limited stock. The other dishes are very tasteful as well especially the Cajun Swordfish. Our server Leigha is very friendly and helpful, her service is just excellent. Thank you!

Gorgeous little place. Food amazing and the service was outstanding. The guy who we presume is the owner was friendly and couldn’t do enough to make sure we were well looked after, especially trying oysters for the first time, and the hubby making a bit of a mess with his prawns. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Will definitely visit again when we are over this way.

Returned to Hooked after a visit 2 years ago and heard it is under new ownership. Food is still good however the place was empty, we had two kids no older than 17 who were running the service they were totally unprofessional singing messing around behind the counter and shouting in the back. The young guy had long hair not tied up and it was falling into our food.It was like being in a kindergarten. Clearly poor management and an inability to recruit professional staff. What was once a great restaurant has descended into an expensive disappointment. I resent paying a service charge for such horrendous service. I expect your price point should cover your staff costs not rinsing customers to pay your wage bill! The staff were also moaning about the owner pressuring them to take at least £500 a night! Totally inappropriate but they are kids running the place. Avoid this overpriced place. My advice to hooked us ..you won’t hook many customers going forward unless you start to run your business in a professional manner.

Many many years since our last visit so was delighted with the contemporary decor, the amazing display of cakes and in particular the cheese scone with olives which was Toasted and buttery. Excellent friendly service.....dogs welcome and we'll provided for ...great view of the lake. Rude and unprofessional staff We have encountered the worst hospitality person from this cafe. After a nice steam boat trip we have decided to have coffee and cakes here. We ordered 2 scones, brownies, muffins and carrot cake and hot drinks. My 6 year old son didn't want the cakes so opened a packet of crisps from our bag. This very rude female staff just bursted out at my son ' YOU CAN'T EAT YOUR OWN Food HERE!" Making everyone inside the cafe look at us and leaving my kids embarrassed and upset. This staff could have spoken to us discreetly and explained the situation professionally, but instead decided to ruin our trip To the management I think you need to retrain this individual. I have been in the hospitality and customer service for 20 years and never have encountered this kind of thing. As a paying customer we are deeply disappointed. If I can give Zero star I would of. Our experience happened Sunday morning 26th of October.

Granny Dowbekins Tearooms is a charming spot located about 20 minutes from the M6, making it a perfect pit stop on the way to Scotland. The staff are efficient and friendly, offering great tables with views of the water and ducks. The homemade cakes are delicious, and the tearoom is very dog-friendly, even offering a special menu for furry friends. There's also a convenient public car park nearby.
Lovely cafe with very nice staff and good food. I had the beef burger which was really good. Nicely cooked meat, plenty of lovely cheese and served in a really really good bun and plenty of nice thick chips. My wife had the fish burger which was a giant piece of battered fish in a bun, and was also very good. We got scones and a ginger bridge to take away and eat later. These were also excellent. Would definitely recommend this place, and we will be back.

We love it here, first discovered it 4 years ago the morning after we got engaged and have been back ever since. It's expanded massively and gets very busy so would recommend booking or going earlier to get a table. The portions are generous, the pictures I've attached are the light bites and that was more than enough between 2 of us! Would recommend for lunch and breakfast ☺️ and it's super dog friendly.

An outdoor seat on a sunny day can be surreal at the restaurant overlooking the river. Few places in uk can beat the view Got a quick coffee and the carrot cake was perfect! Highly recommend the halloumi fries too
Nishant J — Google review
A relatively nice cafe restaurant with stunning views, located directly on the banks of the river Eamont. The service staff were pleasant and efficient, and it was quick to get a table on a Friday lunchtime; although it was late September and likely off season. The toilet facilities were clean with gender neutral toilets and baby changing available. Dogs and children are certainly welcome. The price of the full English breakfast was acceptable for the quality with mostly uninspiring ingredients that left me wanting just a little bit more effort. The portion was however filling, and the rarebit my partner ordered was very tasty and equally reasonablly priced. The food from neighbouring tables also looked nice, but a little bit more effort here would make this place shine. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown of the dining was the coffee, which I believe was from an automatic machine and was actually quite unpleasant, especially for the £4 it cost. Overall this place is a nice place to eat on a sunny afternoon sat by the river. However, I don't imagine this being somewhere a local would frequent. Considering the location, and how this place would be busy with tourists regardless of the quality, I'm glad effort has been put in to making it a modest yet pleasant experience.

On arrival, the generally confused first impression soon gives way an appreciation of what the bar really has to offer. The pub IPA at 6% is worth a try but the fridges should be investigated. Overall this is a pub worth seeking out. I've been to a few and can highly recommend this one!

We absolutely loved the place. My partner highly recommended this during or visit to Windermere. We loved the deco. A one off .Thought the staff were friendly and attentive. Great service. We thoroughly enjoyed the food that we ordered ( Fish fingers sandwich). We would highly recommended to anyone visiting this area. We loved the cheeky naughty menu.

Fun place to try different craft beers. Great selection! We returned on a second trip to the LD, we liked it so much. We went on Sunday night and the bartender (didn’t get his name) with the glasses was friendly and helpful. Let us taste a couple and gave some recommendations to help us choose. Quirky spot to have a pint in Windermere

The Crafty Baa was a really unique pub we visited on our trip to the Lakes. We stopped in for a couple of drinks. We were served by Tom who was an absolute gem. He asked what we liked and gave some reccomendations. We didn't have any food, but the menu looked good and we saw others enjoying a bite to each. If we're ever in the Lakes again, we would 100% visit again. Fabulous offering and so many quirky decor elements to discover.

Cracking tardis like pub in Windermere. Eclectic decor, great range of beers and ciders. Good selection of quirkily named, reasonably priced meals. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
Giovanni A — Google review
The Crafty Baa in Windermere turned out to be one of the most fun and memorable pubs we visited on our trip. The vibe was superb—warm, cozy, and quirky with lots of character in its interiors. The décor had a unique, almost rustic charm mixed with creative touches, making it feel inviting and different from the usual pubs. We tried the apple cider and a strawberry + kiwi flat cider, both refreshing and packed with flavor, perfect to enjoy while soaking in the atmosphere. Their drinks menu is impressive, especially the large selection of craft beers, which would excite any beer lover. They also offer a wide variety of cocktails and food, making it a great spot whether you want just a drink or a full evening out. Overall, The Crafty Baa is a fantastic stop in Windermere, blending excellent drinks, quirky style, and an unforgettable vibe.

An absolutely superb themed bar. Great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Baa had an excellent range of beers, ciders and ales on tap as well as refrigerated bottled beers, lagers, cider, IPA and ales. Pipped music sets the scene. Ask for Tom to start your next drinking journey.

This place is amazing, I visited Windermere for work as a travelling bridal makeup artist, and as I was staying over, I wanted to check out somewhere local. The Crafty Baa is such a fun quirky pub and you can see all the hard work and dedication the family have put into creating this place. I had no idea about the haunted room so I had to see for myself, there were folks in there so I didn't get a proper look, but I'll bring my husband next time and we will get a table there. It didn't occur to me that the Crafty Baa meant that it was all craft beers, but with help from the staff, I chose the 1664 IPA, I'm not a beer drinker but it was actually quite nice. For food I couldn't decide between Mac and cheese balls or the good cluckin chicken wrap, so I ordered both and boy were they delicious! It looks small on the outside but there are tables on every floor and the place was packed, I sat outside on the porch. They had a coal fire inside which was lovely but too hot for me, however outside had a heater for when the night air got chilly, there was also shelter when it rained a little. I was visiting on my own and overall had a fantastic wander out before retiring back at the hotel. This one is a place to visit and I'll definitely be back

ChoccoBar Hot Chocolate House is a delightful haven located in the picturesque Windermere, perfect for those looking to indulge their sweet tooth. This modern café specializes in gourmet hot chocolates and an impressive selection of gluten-free waffles, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a delicious treat without worry. With dedicated waffle-makers and a variety of toppings available, ChoccoBar caters to all tastes while maintaining a cozy atmosphere ideal for unwinding after exploring the stunning lakes.
Freshly made waffles, you can tell too. Nice pot of tea for one, good brew but tiny cups for my big mit's. Will return for the cakes on display.

ChoccoBar is a sophisticated sanctuary in the ever popular Bowness-On-Windermere with an array of delicious treats on offer. We opted for the fondue which had all sorts of luscious fruits, waffles, churros and marshmallows to dip in the signature highest quality chocolate. The vanilla milkshake was extravagant but worth it in every way. Rhona and George were so lovely and helped us relax while offering world class service. Whenever life finds us in this beautiful part of the world again, we’ll definitely be back. We couldn’t recommend ChoccoBar more.

We booked in advance for afternoon tea as part of our honeymoon at the ChoccoBar after trying their luxury hot chocolates which were delightful. It was beautifully presented on a three tier stand with all products sourced locally and hand made. The scones were fresh out the oven and were delicious. This was very reasonably priced at £50 and the service was unbelievable they went above and beyond and offered us takeaway boxes when we couldn't finish all the food. We've had afternoon teas in different parts of the UK such as Betty's tea house in Harrogate but it doesn't compare to this. This is the most lovely experience we've had ran by a family. We would definitely recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Wonderful Late-Night Treat! We visited this lovely chocolate shop café late at night with our two young boys and our puppy, and it was such a warm and memorable experience. The boys had churros with rich chocolate dipping sauce — absolutely delicious! The owner, her son George, and their sweet dog Holly were so friendly and welcoming, instantly making us feel at home. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality these days — they were amazing hosts and made our visit one of the highlights of our holiday in Bowness. The hot chocolate was outstanding (a real sample of perfection!), and the boys couldn’t have been happier tucking into their churros. A true gem in the Lake District — we’ll definitely be back!

I had the Belgian waffle with strawberries, chocolate and ice cream, it was absolutely delicious! I’m a celiac, so I was pleased to know the waffles are gluten free. The hot chocolate was probably the best I’ve tasted, seriously! Owner was lovely and welcoming! I’ll be a regular customer from now on.
Daniel T — Google review
Used to be absolutely fantastic, huge portions, REAL cream. In the last few years, the portion sizes have decreased massively, despite price increases. The waffles are barely bigger than a small plate. The toppings used to be a mountain on top of the waffles and that's what we were paying for which was well worth it. No longer serve freshly whipped cream which is disappointing. This place used to stand out due to the great toppings and the fresh cream with the scones and hot chocolates. Now very poor quality, nothing special at all. Such a let down when it used to be incredible, I would've recommended to anyone from 2022-2023.. now I would say to avoid. I would absolutely come back if the toppings improved and you still offered fresh cream, sorry guys, I was sad to make this review:(

We’ve just returned from our trip to Bowness-on-Windermere, and I can’t stop thinking about the heavenly hot chocolate from ChoccoBar! Honestly, it’s the best I’ve ever had, rich, silky, and absolutely indulgent. Each sip felt like pure luxury in a cup! The café itself is wonderful too, warm, cozy, and run by the loveliest, most welcoming owner who made us feel right at home. We were so obsessed with the hot chocolate that we couldn’t leave without buying two pouches to take home (and they smell divine!). If you’re in Windermere, do yourself a favour and stop by ChoccoBar, missing it would be a serious mistake for any chocolate lover! 🍫

Rhona was incredibly warm and chatty, making me feel right at home. And her hot chocolate was truly luxurious and rich - it alone is worth the visit! I highly recommend this place to everyone. I will definitely be back.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Restaurant
If you're looking for a great, clean fish and chip takeaway in the heart of the village, look no further than Vinegar Jones. The fish is always fresh and served up quickly, making it the perfect place to grab a quick meal on-the-go. Plus, the friendly staff make it easy to enjoy your food without fuss.
This was a brilliant joint to grab dinner, with the menu options clearly displayed at the counter! Customers can see the food being fried which ensures being aware of the hygiene level and service was fast, appreciate how they do tartare sauce as this is rare for takeaways. The fish and chips tasted quality and the skin on the fish had a softness that felt comforting to tuck into, prices are higher than usual worth it for the product though!
K. P — Google review
We visited Vinegar Jones and were impressed from start to finish. Between us we had fish and chips, battered sausage and chips, pie and chips, and fishcake and chips. Every meal was freshly cooked, piping hot, and so tasty. The fish was perfectly flaky with light, crisp batter, the chips were golden and crunchy on the outside with a soft centre, with good portion sizes. The menu looks good for vegetarian and coeliac options too. The shop itself was spotless, which is always a big plus, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier – really welcoming and happy to help. It made the whole visit a pleasure. A proper traditional chippy done right – great food, great service, and excellent value. We’ll definitely be back and would happily recommend to anyone in the area looking for a top-quality fish and chip shop!
Miss L — Google review
If I could give it less than a 1 star review I would. Awfully small portions, rude staff and overall shockingly unwelcome atmosphere. We bought the small fish and chips and it was one small fish portion chopped in half. Didn’t look anything like the pictures. Will not be coming here again, avoid!
T K — Google review
Lovely portion of fish (haddock) and chips. Fish wasn’t cooked to order so was held in the hot hold. Fish and chips were tasty. Batter on the fish not too thick or crispy. If you require ketchup it’s 60p a go. Inside eating area closed but 2 or 3 tables that seat two people outside along the main road.
Jordan G — Google review
They literally served cold fish and chips. Didnt make fresh one. Tasted really bad. I told them its cold and not fresh. They didnt replace or give the fresh ones. Honestly i was not expecting this. Expensive and bad.
Muhammad U — Google review
Chips and cheese apparently regular £5-50. Picture shows how big that is. £8-50 for the pie and chips. I get costs are up and it's a tourist place but this isn't worth it at all anymore. Shame as used to love it here.
Trisha S — Google review
Sadly overpriced and undercooked following a long wait. The quality of the food was poor and didn’t match the high price. Bowness used to be a fabulous place but I don’t think we’ll be back for a long time. Prices are hiked up (nearly £ 30 for two meals from here), customer service has declined, and crowding of the village is becoming an issue. We didn’t enjoy being there and didn’t enjoy this food experience either.
Alison P — Google review
We called up to place an order and were told it would be ready in 10–15 minutes. When we arrived just over 15 minutes later, it was clear they hadn’t actually started our order until we turned up and paid. The staff were polite and friendly, and the place itself was spotlessly clean, but unfortunately the food just wasn’t great. The fish looked and tasted like it had been sat for a while, the batter was soft and soggy, the fish inside was dry and only lukewarm. The gravy was so thick it was almost jelly-like, and the pies, while packed with meat, didn’t seem to have any sauce or gravy inside at all. Price-wise it’s on the steep side, but I suppose that’s to be expected being right in the centre of town.

The Wateredge Inn in Ambleside offers charming rooms, some with private entrances, within a relaxed lakeside pub featuring a vibrant restaurant. The inn is known for its dog-friendly environment, welcoming furry friends in designated indoor and outdoor areas with stunning views of Lake Windermere. Situated on over an acre of private grounds with a jetty overlooking the lake, it provides direct access to the shore for picturesque walks.
We stayed here for a night, on our first trip to the Lake District. The room was very unique, a much more interesting experience than your standard corporate hotel. I found the balcony and bathtub to be stand out features. We were in the building across the street, so not lake front. But you were able to park right outside your room making luggage easy to deal with. Food at the restaurant was good, and the bar was a nice place to spend time. You are a little bit outside of the town center, so it’s more quiet. It takes about 15 minutes to walk along the lake road to the town. The only real complaint we had was that the couch pull out bed was pretty uncomfortable for adults. So unless you are just putting kids in it, you might be better off just bringing an air mattress I would gladly stay here again.

Lovely stay! Great location to explore Ambleside and surrounding area. Easy to get to, parking sorted at checking, plus you get free parking on the day you check out too! Room clean and comfortable. Ample and cozy decoration. Breakfast was brilliant, really good spread and relaxed setup with delicious cooked breakfast. The pub was a big plus!!! Lovely fish and chips and super fast service! Food arrived perfectly cooked and hot! Of course really good fish and chips, light batter and well cooked. Great stay, highly recommend!

We stayed here just for a night and have a very comfortable stay. They bed was just the right firmness, not too soft, not too hard, so we both managed to get a good nights rest. There are some amenities in the room such as tea and coffee making, although the room could really do with a mini fridge. We brought out plug in cool box to allow us to have cold drinks. The bathroom was small, although the shower pressure was good, and it was nice to see good quality soap and shampoo / shower gel. The breakfast was average. It's a buffet style and the quality of the food wasn't great, e.g. the hash browns were soggy and oily, the eggs were overdone, and whilst I like buttered mushrooms, these were on another scale of butteredness! We also found the staff weren't too attentive with us to begin with. The hotel is ideally located though, right next to the lake. It's really lovely to sit at, especially in the evening having a beer or two. Overall we had a lovely time, and would go back.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. The room was very comfortable, bathroom maybe a little small, very large, comfortable bed though. Breakfast was fine, help yourself buffet style. Lots of dog walkers here, so you have to not mind them. The hotel is ideally situated right next to the lake and there is also free parking for residents. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend.

I just spent two nights here and it was fantastic! The room was spot on – massive bed, spotless, and those toiletries smelled amazing. The food / breakfast was delicious. The staff were lovely, making check-in a breeze and checking in on me during meals. I left feeling truly pampered and can't wait to come back! Amazing location with stunning views of Windermere
Kathryn O — Google review
The Wateredge Inn is the perfect location for a pint on a sunny afternoon. Nice decor, amazing views. However the staff seem to swan about aimlessly and they desperately need more staff on the bar as it can easily take 20+ minutes waiting for a pint. There is plenty of seating and if it is full good luck. It’s a victim of its own success.

We visited as part of a big group and did cocktail making, dinner and then karaoke. A great venue for groups - 3 different floors with lots to offer. Food portions were huge but the food tasted great! Karaoke was in a room on the third floor - you were able to order drinks via a buzzer and they arrived quick. A great venue to come to as a group!

We really enjoyed our meal, we had the steak board, it is a random fusion of dishes but all were really nice quality. All dishes were seasoned really well and the steak was cooked to perfection. There was so much food we couldn't finish it all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, the venue is nicely styled and staff are friendly and enthusiastic about the menu. We started with the crispy lamb bites and crispy pork belly bites, followed by the dirty lee burger and a red thai duck curru that was probably one of the best thai curries I've had with amazing layers or flavour. But the star of the show was the damson blossom cheesecake which was a treat for both the tastebuds and the eyes. Next time we're back in the lake district Baha will definitely be on the list for a repeat visit

Booked here as staying locally. We had 1 starter two main and a bottle of wine. Even though the food was very nice we did think a tad expensive. We never had anyone check to see if our food was nice or to see if we needed anything else. The restaurant was not busy. At £28 for a bottle of house wine it would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted it opening/ pouring but just got it left on our table. Tbh the staff didn’t seem jolly or interested. The walls were marked and could have done with a bit of fresh decoration. But couldn’t fault the food we had. Asked for the bill but after waiting a while we put our coats on and had to go to the bar as our bill never turned up. Our bill had a service charge added so check this as you don’t have to pay it! Overall enjoyed our food but won’t be returning.

Very nice cafe. Was a bit chilly when they had the doors open. Not much seating inside. However, service made up for this and the breakfast was beautiful. Only disappointment from a food perspective was the milkshake my friend had which ruined his meal. I however enjoyed myself greatly!

The Kingfisher in Keswick is a classic pub offering a fantastic setting and a diverse menu featuring seafood dishes, burgers, pies, and vegetarian options. The pub is known for its child-friendly features such as baby changing facilities, a play area with games inside and outside. It's the perfect place to enjoy traditional fish and chips or homemade Cumberland sausage at reasonable prices. Additionally, the pub offers beef and kidney pie along with other delicious menu items.
10/10 Fish and chips. I knew it was going to be good, mainly because I'd spent time doing the adult thing of reading countless reviews on fish and chips of all things. Nonetheless, the fish and chips are what I went for, and that's what I ordered. They were out of the large cod (doesn't seem to be an option for large haddock) so I'd recommend getting there earlier if you're particularly hungry or just well stomached like me. Salt and vinegar, and I didn't order any sides. Wonderfully soft fish and crunchy but not hard batter. It has its own flavour but obviously the salt and vinegar helped, and it's a British institution in itself. 10/10. Recommend it over most fish and chips places. After finishing it I feel strangely patriotic 😂

After a long day of sightseeing around Keswick, we stopped by The Kingfisher for a late lunch – and it was exactly what we needed! The fish & chips were fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked, with proper chunky chips and a generous portion of mushy peas. We also tried the lasagne with chips – a surprisingly comforting combo that really hit the spot. Everything was hot, tasty, and served quickly. The place has a classic, no-fuss vibe, perfect for refuelling after exploring the Lakes. Bonus points for the lovely orange juice – fresh and refreshing. Highly recommended if you’re in Keswick and craving some hearty British food!

I still stand by the v positive review I gave 8 months ago, great food, service, etc - however, something I discovered only last week surprised & disappointed me - they don't open on Sundays - from a business perspective this seems absolutely ludicrous - there are surely plenty of hungry tourists (such as myself last week) & others, & I can only see this decision as comparable to a flower shop closing on Mothers' Day! They could surely employ weekend staff if this is the problem.

Our only complaint is I had no room for desert. Book ahead tho' as we saw several people turned away. Food and service was excellent. Portions very generous. We had kids Sunday lunch, beef top notch; fish and chips (connoisseur daughter said very good); Lamb Tagine was excellent as was the risotto. Will be going back I'm sure. Burnt pizza with a quarter missing for my daughter. Informed by staff that this is how the chef does them for children to make them smaller. Ticks all the boxes. Centrally located with the church just behind. From a great parking arrangement, excellent service throughout our stay to wonderful food. Everything spot on. Really enjoyed our stay in such a lovely place.

Have had nice meals in the past. Today however menu had changed and was dearer alongside a 12.5% gratuity charge My husband's was good but my ploughman's was poor at best. The bread was even stale. Was not asked if our meals were satisfactory. Will not return which is a shame.

We had our first ever drink in KL at The Sun Inn. A lovely Inn set beside the churchyard. Been many times over the years, as has Madge. Flatric's first visit. A good selection of three real ales. I had one from the Bowness Bay brewery on this latest visit. Very good. Have enjoyed meals here in the past but never in the rear dining area. Madge liked her wine.

Wonderful room No.3. Really good vibes. Good strong shower. Lovely big bed. Superb breakfast. Not our first visit and won't be our last. Staff are really friendly and accommodating.

Star ratings are meaningless these days. This is a delightful wee country pub with rooms, but right in the middle of the town/village. Couldn't fault the room we were given. Clean, spacious for two, everything you need. The food was varied, plentiful, and faultless. Parking anywhere in town is a problem, but the hotel has an arrangement with the local council, and you get free use of council public car parks. Great place to stop overnight for a break on long journey.

We called in for a drink only so sorry can't comment on the food. Lovely modern decor in a traditional very old pub with original beams. Nice friendly staff. Pub was very quiet when we called on a Thursday afternoon. Would like to call back sometime for a meal.

The 1657 Chocolate House is an ancient establishment serving as both a shop and a cafe, with origins in the 1630s. It offers the chance to savor a luxurious hot cocoa in its coffee house while also providing an opportunity to purchase distinctive gifts from its high-end chocolate store. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, this remarkable place has persevered thanks to dedicated individuals who are cheerful, kind, and pleasant.
We visited 1657 Chocolate House during our trip, drawn in by its old and authentic vibe — and it truly lived up to it! A very friendly gentleman working there helped us choose from their wide variety of chocolates, and his recommendations were spot on. The chocolate flavours were so unique — many of them were things we’d never even heard of before! It was such a fun and different experience for us as tourists from India. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Kendal — for both the chocolate and the charming atmosphere!

Man serving made me feel unwelcome. He was so grumpy I wondered why I was willingly passing my money over. I repeated my order to double check he had heard me and I still ended up with the wrong chocolates. Smile more and welcome your customers - they are keeping you going.

Would definitely recommend, very qutesy, olde worldy, very old fashion English tea room, I love it. There is nothing modern about this place and that’s apart of the joy. No good for wheelchairs as the tea room is up stairs, the whole place is in 3 floors with very wobbly floors, nothing is flat which is fun, feels like you been drinking hehe. Toilets were very small but ok. There is a chocolate shop on the bottom floor and the tea room is on the next two floors. The cake we had was every chocolate lovers dream, it was soooooo nice I am definitely going back. Staff were friendly, chocolate shop seemed a lot but the cafe was priced well for what you got.

A quaint little shop with a large variety of chocolates and other sweet treats. I was disappointed by the quality of the chocolate, it was rather bland. Also rather expensive. I bought a bar of Kendal Mint Cake, only to find it cheaper at the campsite shop near Pooley Bridge.

CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE & MORE CHOCOLATE..!! 😁🍫 cosy tearooms woth lots of character. The yummiest hot chocolates we have ever come across. Good choice of flavours. I chose cherry and my partner banana, both of which were amazing..!! Great selection of cakes to choose from as well as savoury items on offer. Lovely little shop with the tastiest chocolates that we have experienced outside of Bruges. Nice staff with clean facilities.

This is a gorgeous little chocolate shop and cafe just off the main shopping street in Kendal. The shop is right next door to the cafe but is connected and can be accessed by a set of stairs, although the are very narrow and low. The staff are great and very friendly and decoration and seating (in the café) are very traditional looking and in keeping with the stone built building. There is a nice touch in the form of a sign showing a brief history of chocolate production. The food smelled great, but the draw for me was the the huge range of hot chocolate drinks available. I had the Highway man (salted caramel) and with a massive blob of whipped cream was absolutely delicious. My partner ordered a Merry Cherry and after nabbing a taste I was again Impressed. Another point, these hot chocolates were only £2.50 each! Amazing price for what they are. Overall, very recommended!

The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop is a quaint establishment located in the Lake District village, known for its unique and delectable gingerbread invented by Victorian cook Sarah Nelson in 1854. The shop also offers an assortment of other treats such as rum butter, fudge, mint cake, toffees, chocolates, and conserves. The historic shop continues to produce the renowned gingerbread using Nelson's original recipe and has garnered a global following.
Tiny shop. The best fresh baked gingerbread biscuit. No preservatives. You can buy just one or packages of 6 or 12. They also have chocolates, fudge, lip balm, lotion and much more. Their is a little bit of a wait in line but well worth it.
Mc S — Google review
The smell of the Gingerbread cookies tingles your senses even before you enter the shop. Easy to find, parking just a 2 min walk away. Gets busy very quickly and always a que. Loved the traditional Sarah Nelson's gingerbread. Bought some rum butter, ginger caramel and ginger lemon curd, must say it was tasty.
Mildred — Google review
This place can get very busy, as it seems to be on most visitors lake district to do list (myself included) Got here early though and was able to walk straight in with no wait. Arrive pre 10am to give yourself best chance of avoiding the crowds. The interior of the shop is a feast for the senses. Exuding Olde worlde charm from every corner, and the air is thick with the smell of the gingerbread. To taste it has very little in common with the gingerbread we are all used to, and is so much the better for it. A very dense and chewy texture that almost borders on crunchy. Warm flavor that lingers nicely after the initial mouthful. Does not keep well, but for me that didn't matter as I would have eaten it all long before thinking of keeping any. Definitely try to tick this box on your list, you'll be glad you did.
Mark D — Google review
A lovely callback to the classic, one assumes! The shop was fantastic fun on a pouring rainy day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and quick. The queue does not reflect their speed, as the doors are just a bit narrow as it’s a very old building.
Jake P — Google review
Tasty, needed to go back for some more after trying it. Long queue but move fast. Daffodil garden and Wordworth family graves are nearby. Recommend to sit down and enjoy the gingerbread with the coffee at Grasmere Tea Garden, nice view and flat white!
Yaran L — Google review
This is such a quaint, iconic place and must see in Gracemere. The gingerbread is delicious as well as the dairy milk chocolate with ginger bits and affordable price too. The chocolate with pumpkin spice was my least favourite and for acquired taste. The queue is long and no shleter when it's raining. There is no seating area, which would've enhanced the positive experience. Nonetheless, I would visit again.
MS A — Google review
Smells incredible as you walk up to it. Cute little shop, nice to know the history behind it. However, very small inside, barely enough room for more than one couple at a time. Doesn't give much opportunity to browse products when there's a queue of people waiting to come in. Glad I saw this but wouldn't hurry back. Gingerbread taste delicious though.
Beth — Google review
We’re not huge fans of gingerbread in general, but having heard so much about this famous one, we had to try it. And it didn’t disappoint! It was very decadent, soft, not too overpowering ginger flavour, a mix between biscuit and cake. A must try if you’re in the area.

Faeryland Grasmere is a charming spot on the water's edge where you can indulge in a delightful experience. You can hire colorful rowing boats and explore the magical setting, perhaps catching sight of sprites dancing among the reeds. The café offers an extensive selection of 30 loose-leaf teas to accompany your scones, jam, and cream, served in elegant china cups.
Lovely place, perfect to have a tea break after a walk. It is outdoor only with colourful little tables and a nice and relaxing ambiance with great view over the lake. There is a wide tea selection and the cakes were really good (I can tell you that my lemon drizzle cake did not had time to admire the view!). There is also some dog treats to buy that our girl loved! The man managing the place was also nice and friendly. We really enjoyed taking the sun and take a breather here. There is boat to hire and so you are aware no toilets.

Wandering around Grasmere we came across an intriguing sign announcing a space called Fairyland. Closer inspection revealed it to be a little outdoor cafe and boating area on the edge of the water. We just had a coffee and a scone, seating ourselves in an intriguing little shelter, looking out across the lake. The day was rather grey but, in high summer, the view will be amazing. Service was great, the coffee was good and we were able to watch some parents taking their children for an adventure, rowing across the water. A great wee spot for a stop to have a warming drink and enjoy a lovely vista.

The Lancrigg is truly a special place, the perfect wedding venue :) If you’re reading this because you’re thinking of booking it, don’t hesitate for a second. I’m not sure words can really do it justice, but I’ll try! We feel so so lucky that this magical corner of the Lake District was ours for the weekend in July 2025. Every single member of the team was wonderful, kind, enthusiastic, and such a joy to plan with. They embraced all of our ideas, added their own thoughtful suggestions, and made sure everything came together perfectly. The venue itself is breathtaking. It’s clearly a real labour of love which you can sense the moment you arrive. Even on our first visit, on a drizzly February day, we knew instantly it was the place for us. The accommodation is excellent, and the beautiful walk down into Grasmere is an added treat for guests. We are also deeply grateful for how supportive and flexible the team were when we had to rearrange our wedding for health reasons. Their kindness meant the world to us, and it’s something we’ll never forget. We can’t wait to return in the years ahead and watch The Lancrigg continue to flourish. It will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

As a videographer, I had the pleasure of working at Lancrigg Wedding Venue in the stunning Lake District, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. Nestled in a picturesque setting, the venue offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lush greenery, which provides a perfect backdrop for capturing those special moments. The natural light that floods the space during the day enhances the beauty of the venue and allows for some truly stunning footage. The venue itself is charming and beautifully maintained, with a mix of rustic and elegant elements that cater to a variety of wedding styles. The indoor spaces are versatile, allowing for intimate ceremonies or larger celebrations, all while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. The outdoor areas are equally impressive, offering numerous spots for romantic shots and group photos. The well-kept gardens and scenic paths provide endless opportunities for creative videography. The staff at Lancrigg are incredibly accommodating and professional, making it easy for me to do my job. They understand the needs of vendors and are always willing to help facilitate smooth transitions during the day. This seamless collaboration ensures that the couple can focus on enjoying their special day while I capture the memories that will last a lifetime. Overall, Lancrigg is a fantastic wedding venue for videographers and couples alike, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to create beautiful wedding memories in a breathtaking location.

The Best Wedding Evening Food Ever - Jags and the Team Were Phenomenal! We hired the Shap Chippie Van for our wedding evening food, and honestly, it was one of the best decisions we made! The food was absolutely amazing, and our guests absolutely loved it! From the very beginning, Jags and the team went above and beyond. They didn't just turn up on the day, they put in so much effort beforehand to ensure everything would be perfect. They took the time to scout our venue in advance, working out the logistics and making sure they knew exactly what was needed. They also worked with us to design a menu that was perfect for our guests, offering helpful suggestions and being really flexible with our requests, able to cater for vegans, gluten and dairy free as well as delicious fish and chips! The service on the night was exceptional. Jags and the team were professional, friendly, and so efficient. They kept everything running smoothly, served everyone quickly despite the queue of hungry guests, and did it all with smiles on their faces. The food itself was incredible, piping hot, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. Traditional chippy done to perfection! Our guests loved it, and it was the ideal way to fuel everyone for the dancing and celebrations. The chippie van added such a fun, relaxed vibe to the evening, and it was restaurant quality food! I cannot recommend Jags and this team highly enough. They're professional, dedicated, and the food is outstanding. Thank you so much for being such a brilliant part of our special day!

We used to be regular customers and called in for my birthday. The portions are small, I think that is well documented. Chips were okay but nothing special. Cheese patty was quite bland. Very good mushy peas, and halloumi, but … the portion size for halloumi is two pieces. It’s already quite expensive but it is nice. However, last time, our second halloumi piece was not even full size! I also ordered a bread bun which was £1.10 and extremely dry like it had been there all week. It went in the bin. I would sadly no longer recommend this place.

I visited here a few years ago and was very impressed with it. A group of us went last night and we were so disappointed. The portions were ridiculously small and expensive for what we got. We had to ask 3 times for items we’d ordered and weren’t brought to us. Sadly we will not go back and would not recommend it.

Delightful fish and chips, reasonably priced for being in the centre of Windermere, and delicious. Recent reviews about the fish being overly greasy and the chips soggy were not the case for my experience, and there was no more oil than us to be expected from fried food. The fish and chips were clearly fresh out of the fryer, lovely and hot.

We had halal dietary requirements and the owners said they could fry our order first in fresh oil at 4pm to avoid any cross contamination. The haddock was fried perfectly and the batter was super fresh and crisp. The chips were superb, not soggy at all. Highly recommend The Little Chippy, perfect fish and chips - delicious and fresh 😋

Absolutely delicious fish and chips. Fish was fried as soon as order taken (not lying around in the cabinet). The lovely gentleman who works there was such a delight to speak to. Great place and probably the best fish and chips I have eaten in a long time! 10/10 all round and a big thumbs up!

Food: The chips were greasy, but the fish was good! I would say the mushy peas were my favourite part of the meal. Portion was not generous but maybe it wouldn’t be due to the location. Service: I wouldn’t say the lady at the counter had an overly friendly manner unfortunately, however, a gentleman I spoke with was really chatty and friendly which redeemed the service. Atmosphere: just a normal chippy vibe :)

Edit 2: Stopped again here and still really good breakfast. Staff friendly and polite. Shame they still don't have a baby changing table in the ladies so reason it will stay at 4 stars. Still definitely worth a visit if your passing. Edit: stopped here for the 2nd time on our way back from Scotland. It was 5 star I gave originally but dropped a star this time due to no baby changing. There is plenty of room in the ladies for it. Also they have changed the sausages and they are alot smaller and not as nice as the others. Stopped here at lunchtime and had the all day breakfast. Dreadful food, sadly. We had two portions of fish and chips and a mixed kebab. The chips were very oily (and not proper chippy chips), though the fish was nice. The kebab would have been barely passable at 1 a.m. after a night out, but certainly not at 7 p.m. Staff were hit and miss – some were lovely, others quite gruff. Avoid.

Very good portions available. Really good piece of fish. Food was great, not greasy and very reasonable priced.

I recently visited The Ferry Hotel in the evening with my daughter and a 12-year-old girl we were supporting. We ordered pizzas, which arrived promptly despite the pub being busy. Unfortunately, I accidentally spilled juice on one of the pizzas, but a vigilant staff member kindly offered to handle it for us. She was wonderful. The chef then brought us a new pizza and was very pleasant. I cannot find fault with the staff or food in any way.
Went for a Sunday carvery and wasn't disappointed. Booked in for 1pm. I arrived, and the service was great, and the table was waiting for me, clean and prepped. Paid just under £15 for a large carvery. I was very hungry, so I went all out. I chose turkey and roast gammon. The quality was great, though I couldn't finish it all. I only left a little. I will definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone who's hungry 👍

Sunday lunch carvery, it was busy as expected - definitely need to book a table. Reasonable customer service, roast dinner was nice enough but granddaughter's Rocky Road dessert had frozen marshmallows in that could break your teeth (all got picked out of the dessert). Apple pie was OK but pastry was a bit soft. Needs more toilets for such a busy place

Good value for money, lots of fresh food to choose from you have to order black pudding seperate but our server Matthew made sure our table had plenty ! The pub was clean and relaxed

This is a great place to eat. It is a family friendly place. As it is a pub setting so there are punters who are having a merry time but it is still safe for families. Car park is available and easily accessible. Outside seating is ample. The food is amazing and portion size are really good and at a reasonable price. Food is hot with lots of sides and accompaniment options. Staff are absolutely stellar and welcoming, especially Caryn, Erin and Lizzie are amazing. They are happy to assist and clarify all queries. Next to promenade and a park so you can have a stroll after as you will be full:)

Nice pub. Attended on 14/9/25 for a few drinks. Burnley vs Liverpool was on live. Friendly staff. Will return if we ever come back to this area.

Sunday I had American friends from Utah in town so I suggested a very British traditional meal for lunch at the ferry. On arrival at 2pm unfortunately we was informed that the carvery only had roast beef however the manager said if we wanted chicken breast he could have it brought over during the meal when it was cooked. The meal was great as it often is and when the chicken was brought over to our table it was cooked beautiful. Then to top it off he brought over two Sundais (lemon meringue and chocolate) so we could all share to our surprise. Honestly I just thought this was by far the best customer service I have received in the town.
