Cafe
Café-Restaurant ANNO 1900 is a charming eatery located in a former hotel's winter garden dating back to 1890, offering traditional German cuisine. Guests can choose to dine inside the cozy restaurant or enjoy their meal on the leafy patio. The menu features a delightful mix of international and regional dishes, with main courses ranging from grilled salmon and roasted wild boar to gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce.
We arrived unannounced and unbooked after a long day driving across Europe. We were shown table in the middle of a quite, well run and ideal eating area. The menu was brief but the varied choice was excellent. We were not sure on a starter, so the chef improvised for us. Brilliant. We were extremely happy with our gastronomic evening and would recommend and would return again in future. Thank you...☺️ Addition:- We were back here again for Christmas 2024 and nothing has changed. The service impeccable and the menu although brief gives a excellent variation of choice. A decent Italian red was the perfect partner, and we will return - again..!

Cozy comfortable, warm greeting, nice environment for chatting. Cuisines are creative, my Caesar salad general tastes ok, but chicken tastes old and hard... , sauce somehow is not the classical one...well, Raviolis are delicious~

Spontanius visit during break in Bauhaus museum. The place is in the ex-greenhouse, with lots of super old furniture. Friendly waiters always suggest a wine for a type of food you order.. Cozy not loud music. Crem brule... Well, I was craving that moment, but that one didnt impress me much 🤷🏻‍♀️

We went to the restaurant yesterday and the waiter was super rude!!! We asked him if there are any tables we can sit at and he told us "Do you see any???" in a very aggressive tone and left! That is not the way one treats guests! Many tables were actually free inside! I don't know why he was that rude and aggressive but I hope management does something about this kind of behaviour!!!!!

Creperie du Palais is a charming French bistro located in the heart of the old town, offering a quiet and friendly atmosphere with sidewalk tables. The menu features a variety of French delicacies including savory galettes, sweet crepes, flammkuchen, and desserts like creme brulee. Whether you're craving a hearty flammkuchen or a delicate crepe, this bistro is the perfect spot to indulge in these delectable treats.
So good! My family and I have been coming here for many years and it’s always delicious!!! So nice to have some French cuisine close by! I really recommend booking a table in advance as it gets busy quickly (:

I would give more stars if it were possible. Food was excellent, service was superb. The "long wait" we were warned about did not feel that long after all... the delicious cidre in traditional cups helped. Service personnel was attentive, approachable, friendly... We had a wonderful time and will probably return. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Weimar.
Lilo R — Google review
We enjoyed eating here a lot, the ambiance is great and the waitress very friendly. ☺️ The dishes tasted as expected, good, there no need for high expectations with such simple dishes (I read some reviews stating there were disapointed considering the high praise, but crêpe is going to taste like crêpe 🤷‍♀️). We don't live nearby, but if we ever come back we will definetely eat here again ! A bit pricey on some items, overall decent. Not a long waiting time, we got placed as wished in a corner, and on a sunday at 13h it gradually emptied so we had the place to ourselves. 😁

Great food in a lovely atmosphere right in Weimar. Order the cidre - sooo good. Service was super friendly!

I always enjoy being here. Actually, everything works in a direction that makes you feel like you're on vacation in France. The menu includes some exquisite dishes and combinations that are hard to find elsewhere in the region. Yet the dishes are designed to be light. Primarily galettes and crepes, but also soups and salads. In addition to the table service, in the summer there are also outdoor tables to choose from, there is a small store sale of French specialties.
Yves P — Google review
I had a galette la complete and a chestnut puree crepe for dessert. The place is cosy. The food was good although the service is a tad slow for a creperie. If I compare it to other creperies I've been to, I find their topping / filling options on their menus are a little limited. I really enjoyed their selection of ciders. I had a Normandy rosé cider that was fantastic!

Restaurant
Gasthaus Scharfe Ecke Weimar is a popular restaurant located in the historic Altstadt of Weimar, Germany. It's a great spot to visit with friends and family, offering excellent Thuringian cuisine at reasonable prices. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and serves delicious dishes such as Ragout Fin, schnitzel with fries, and goulash with dumplings. While it's not wheelchair accessible, it provides a quiet dining experience.
(Translated by Google) Best Thuringian cuisine/dumplings...then and now! Admittedly, hearty home cooking is less ideal as the first meal of the day in summer temperatures. But what do you want to do?! There has been a new tenant for over a year now, seven and a half months after the closure, and it is only open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the day of rest is Sunday. The nice lady in service immediately seemed familiar to us and the cook at the time was also working on the stove again. We enjoyed excellent Thuringian cuisine, highly recommended the goulash with lots of good sauce, the best Thuringian dumpling and beautifully spicy red cabbage. Good portions at reasonable prices. Only the former trademark of the traditional restaurant is missing; the Kloß-Marie was sold at the time and will now stand irretrievably in front of the linden tree in Hetschburg. (Original) Beste Thüringer Küche/Klöße.....damals wie heute! Zugegeben, deftige Hausmannskost ist als erste Mahlzeit des Tages bei sommerlichen Temperaturen weniger ideal. Aber was will man machen?!

(Translated by Google) A Thuringian inn as you wish! I like to come back there again and again because of the excellent dumplings. After a small salad as a starter, this time I ordered pork cheeks, beans and a dumpling. Very, very tasty! In addition, the guests are looked after and cared for by an extremely friendly hostess. I can therefore highly recommend the inn! Unfortunately, for some time now there has only been a lunch menu and only cash payments are accepted. It is also strongly recommended to reserve in advance. I would love to come back, the next appointment has already been reserved.

(Translated by Google) We had a dumpling with roulade sauce and red cabbage, and a Thuringian bratwurst with sauerkraut and fresh mashed potatoes. The service was friendly, and the food was delicious, just like mom's. For dessert, I treated myself to a portion of Kirschenmichel (cherry-flavored custard) with vanilla sauce, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. The dessert was also absolutely delicious. This won't be the last time we're here.

Gasthaus “Zum Weißen Schwan” is a renowned restaurant with a rich history and a list of distinguished guests. Located next to Goethe's residence at Frauenplan, it offers an elegant ambiance and serves traditional Thuringian dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant has been known to host esteemed state guests visiting the city.
Nowhere else I would rather go for an evening meal in Weimar. Perfect to sit outside on the Frauenplan, the delicious food and wonderful ambience are enhanced only by the staff, who are extremely friendly and welcoming.

Good food for a good price. Also nice to see a larger collection of food. So not just Bavarian, Italian, American, but a nice blend. Drinks are on the expensive side. Service was OK, but not spectacular. The waitress asking me if I could pay was kind of strange. Good location.
Jeroen S — Google review
Situated directly next to Goethe's house, we hoped this historic restaurant would be a good place for a traditional Thuringian meal. Sadly, the goose was tough, stringy and overdone. The potato dumplings, a regional specialty, were soggy and were also overcooked. The service was decent and the decor fine too.
Robert R — Google review
Nice location, directly at Frauenplan/Goethe house, and friendly staff. We were disappointed with the food though. I had Thüringer Klöße (dumplings) with goulash and red cabbage, which should be a nice local meal, but it was bland, salty and overcooked. It felt more like mass-produced ready-to-eat food (especially the sauce) than a restaurant-cooked meal.
Martina — Google review
Great and historic location. The staff is super friendly and does a great job. The food came a bit late but was delicious. They have typical Thuringa dishes and offer other choices as well. All in all a great place to spend an evening.⁸
Oliver W — Google review
We enjoyed eating outdoor in the summer here and looking at the people go by, but the inside of the restaurant is not less enjoyable, the food was good and the service friendly. Unluckily we sat too near a manhole from which a bad smell was coming up.

Nestled within the historic Hotel Elephant, AnnA is a delightful dining destination that beautifully blends modern and regional cuisine under the expert guidance of Chef Johannes Wallner. The restaurant boasts a bright and inviting atmosphere, particularly enchanting on its open terrace during summer months. Guests can indulge in an impressive à la carte selection or opt for a curated menu during special event evenings.
Very nice place, with a great atmosphere that we really enjoyed. The course menu selection is impressive, but this time we went for the à la carte option. The foie gras was excellent, and the lamb as the main course was even better — absolutely delicious. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the risotto, which was a bit too al dente for our taste. Otherwise, everything was outstanding. We highly recommend starting the evening with aperitif cocktails in the front bar — their selection of alcohol-free cocktails is especially good. Afterwards, we finished with coffees there as well, which made for a very cozy and comforting ending to the evening.
Lilia C — Google review
Located within the historic Hotel Elephant, AnnA offers a cozy ambiance, especially on the open terrace during summer. The service is friendly, and the staff provides excellent wine recommendations. However, the portions are quite small, particularly the main course (less than 50g of meat). We experienced a 25-minute wait for dessert, and there was a billing issue. Overall, AnnA lacks culinary finesse but compensates with its pleasant atmosphere.

I feel so lucky that we decided to make this stop passing through. I found the place in the Michelin restaurant guide and us, party of five colleagues/ friends, decided to stop in this place for lunch on a Saturday, passing through town. The place is so great, the food feels authentic German, service was fantastic, it was a slow winter day for them. Just next door, a personal favourite Johann Sebastian Bach the composer lived and wrote some of his cornerstone work, but also the hotel elephant played an interesting role in WWII. History in every footstep, wonderful, highly recommended.

A delicious meal and brilliant, personalised service by Suzana. This restaurant offers a Michelin dining experience with interesting complex dishes which are fresh and inspired by local produce. Located in the old town center of Weimar, the Sächsischer Hof is a more than five-hundred-year-old traditional guesthouse with a rich history. It was once home to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and served as the writing place for Francois le Goullon, a renowned 19th-century chef. The establishment offers Thuringian cuisine, a spacious beer garden, comfortable guest rooms, and even horse-drawn carriage rides.
We are visiting Weimar but had no idea where to stop for an early dinner. We found this restaurant just as the husband was getting past the "hangry" point. So glad he found his weiner schnitzel! Food was great and service was good.

it’s a great place to taste the traditional food of the region. especially weimar soup is recommended before the main dish. the prices are a little bit higher but the food is very delicious and it is not something you can find everywhere in germany. a must go restaurant in weimar!

My private chef friend took us here. We enjoyed the food, service and environment. I had game lunch, very tasty,. The potato ball tastes like making at the spot from scratch. The service was fast and staff would check if anything needed several times.

We had to wait for a bit longer than usual, but it's because they are understaffed (covid reasons). Nevertheless this fact was at least fully outweighed by the friendliness of the people working there. Once everything was ordered, we didn't have to wait long to see our delicious food arrive. It was really really tasty. The portions were perfect I'd say. I can really recommend this place. You don't have to worry if you're vegetarian, there are likewise delicious options.

The food was great and the waiters great. I had a wonderful time, and I can't wait to visit Weimar again. The portions were big and the thuringen bratwurst I had was exceptional. The beer was cool and we ate outside under the shade. It was really perfect. We spent more than three hours there enjoying the sun and the weather.

A nice place, if you like convenience food. Convenient for the Restaurant. All precooked and heated or simply bought in mass quantities and served. The onion soup is a bit of water with some slices of onions in it. If you speak a foreign language, don’t expect any good service. German speaker get served first. The stereotype of Thuringia at its best. Simply a shame.

Nestled in the heart of historic Weimar, the Watzdorfer Geleitschenke is a delightful restaurant housed in a charming half-timbered building dating back to 1547. This inviting eatery offers an authentic taste of Thuringian cuisine, where guests can savor traditional German dishes amidst an ambiance filled with creaking wooden beams and jazz instruments. The on-site brewery provides fresh beer, while a diverse cocktail menu ensures that every palate is catered to.
A fantastic traditional Thüringen restaurant, tucked away in the centre of old Weimar. Plenty of seating inside and out and plenty of room for larger families and groups. The building has a stunning exterior with the old wooden framework and this is continued inside. The interior, the service and naturally the food were of highest merit and we would definitely go again. Everybody commented how good the food was, and there were no empty plates at the end! If you're in Weimar and want a special place to enjoy the finest local cuisine, then you can't go wrong here!

Excellent experience of traditional house with modern facilities. But the printed paintings in the room could have better taste. Weimar has such rich history resources and there are countless great fine arts in Goethe's Museum, what a pity.

Horrible restaurant service. I went for the first time, the restaurant was empty. We sat outside and waited for 15 minutes and no one came to serve us or bring a menu. We just got up and left. Tried again today as a group of 5 and was even worse. The waitress gave us 1 menu and didn't even clean our table (there were dirty glasses there from previous customers). We had to go inside to get more menus by ourselves when more friends arrived since the waitress never came back to our table. Then after sitting and waiting for 15 minutes with no sign of waiters coming outside to get our orders we just decided to leave again. If you value your time just avoid this place.

Wonderful located in an ancient half-timbered house in the center of Weimar, this restaurant offers a tasty cuisine with the best regional products. The Rinderrouladen (beef rolls) and the dumplings are amazing. The service is friendly and professional.
Simonpietro C — Google review
I found this lovely place walking in the old town of Weimar. The timber building was beautiful and several floors were available. It must be a fun place in the evening when it is full of people. I had lunch sitting outside. Service was prompt and the food was fresh and delicious. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The beer was good, so I had two.

This is an excellent bar and restaurant with a good range of Thuringia regional dishes. The beef roulade is excellent and if dumplings are not your thing then you can substitute other forms of potatoes. The staff are friendly and efficient. Their beer is also excellent. The venue is a stunning and well restored building. WiFi is available inside. Recommended.

Nice location, but the saltiest food i ever had in my life. Also, the waitress was quite rude, she seemed to be annoyed by every single question i made. This may be a German thing, as it had happened over and over in different cities and restaurants, but still...

The Erbenhof Restaurant in Weimar offers a remarkable dining experience in the heart of the city. Situated in an elegant courtyard opposite Goethe's house, this restaurant boasts exceptional quality ingredients, friendly and professional service, and an intriguing selection of wines. The menu includes delicious dishes such as deer with mushrooms and dumplings that are described as pure perfection. With affordable pricing between 12:00 and 15:00, it is a great choice for a satisfying meal.

Lovely spot for a lunch. Portion size left me feeling a bit wanting. One of the sides being three pieces of bread with a breaded "pork steak" seemed odd. No sauce or anything to dip the bread slices into. Bites of bread with schnitzel--delicious but lacking a bit. Still, the schnitzel was excellent. Location on the patio was lovely and I'm sure it's a great spot when they have live music playing. That being said, the portion size seemed rather small by German standards.

Our favourite restaurant in Weimar. The food is delicious and yet fairly priced. The staff is friendly and the location is central, quiet and atmospheric - you can either eat inside the restaurant or in a lovely, green, quiet courtyard, just a few steps from the Frauenplan/Goethe house. We appreciated that they offer cooked lunch (Mittagsmenu) this year, a great option if you prefer to dine at lunch time.

Decent food (very good main dish, duck w. dumplings and red cabbage, starter, tuna on mango, strong on design, weak on taste). Great wine. Bit of a stiff atmosphere.

Nestled in the heart of Weimar, Residenz Cafe & Restaurant is a charming establishment that has been delighting visitors since 1839. This historic venue offers a delightful German menu that spans from breakfast to dinner, making it an ideal spot for any meal of the day.
Had lunch and coffee here and was fantastic. Very busy but staff were very attentive and quick to ask if all was ok whilst we wait for food to arrive. Nice atmosphere with great view of Schloss so well worth dropping in.

This is a delightful place for a late lunch. The cafe itself is large and spacious with a superb vibe: Ladies having tea and some pretty serious chess in progress. The food was fresh, excellent and well cooked. I asked for some accommodations to my dietary needs and these were met with pleasure. The service was friendly and I felt thoroughly welcomed. Although I did not have the cakes they looked very inviting! Afterwards I had a walk in the spectacular Park An Der Lim just down the road from the cafe. A wonderful afternoon. Vielen Dank Residenz!

Soak up some sun while enjoying a nice drink and good food, with views of the castle and the park! Just went for dinner here and was pleasantly surprised! They have a weekly menu with a mixed selection of dishes from more modern international food to traditional food from the region. I had a very good Sauerbraten with beautifully light potato dumplings (praiseworthy), tender, fall apart pork and steamed carrots. For dessert, we had warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and strawberry puree. Very nice indeed. We sat there for a good 2 hours on comfortable seats with a good distance from other diners. My only criticism? We waited a good 20 minutes for a waiter to even acknowledge our existence before taking matters into our own hands and waving enthusiastically for attention (we might have sat there for another 20 minutes had we not...) Staff were perfectly friendly and professional once there, but service was slow indeed... However, if you're not pressed for time, this place is definitely recommended!
Hannah R — Google review
This has to be one of the very worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Absolute novice staff. A “black coffee” needed to be ordered 3 times and took 35min to come. Food? Foget it about before about an hour post arrival. Mediocre in every way, but most disappointing was the arrogance of the wait staff who claimed “you haven’t been waiting that long”. Wow. After 30min and upon us entering the premises to see what was going on, it was evident they were just submitting the order to the kitchen purely because of our presence. It’s not even that hard guys - you are not serving hoch cuisine. It’s breakfast. Simple eggs, bread, yoghourt, coffee. Attitude matters. This was the disappointment of the century, and an awful way to start the day.

If you find yourself in Weimar and are craving Mediterranean delights, Cielo Weimar is a must-visit destination. This chic and modern restaurant offers a delightful array of dishes, including pasta and risotto, all served in an elegant setting that features a lovely terrace for soaking up the sun. The menu is diverse, showcasing not only classic Mediterranean fare but also fresh seafood options that elevate your dining experience.
Came here for a company dinner with about 15 people on my recent visit to Weimar. The restaurant is located in the heart of Weimar and made our walk from the central train station an absolute joy. The restaurant itself is modern and contemporary with ample seating area. The service was phenomenal and the food outstanding. This was my first time eating Croatian food and I have to say it won't be my last if it tastes this good. I highly recommend this place.

Food was pretty good, a bit on the heavy side for Mediterranean, must have been the German influence. Service was somewhat abrupt. Outdoor dining was very nice.

Here we tried main dishes and enjoyed the food. They are fresh and delicious. The staff is super kind and helping. The atmosphere is nice and warm. The place itself is spacious and comfortable. To book a desk we recommend to do it at least 2 days before. The prices are reasonable. It is in ground floor and accessible for wheelchair users. Recommended ! Positive feedback: a traditional paper menu is a must for elderly people at least. The meat served on spaghetti is hard to cut on the plate as it is like a bowl. Pre cut slices would be much appreciated!

Food was terrible, no taste, no love in it. Although late kitchen was still open in this so called italian, but the espresso machine was switched off at 21.50. Waiter pissed because no tip didn't bother to let us out. Overrated joint with cheap muzak bothering our ears.

We ordered daily lunch menu and the risotto is the best one I have ever eaten so far. Chicken breast with bacon flavour and parmesan cheese made an excellent combination. The staffs were very friendly too. I will definitely come here again next time I visit Weimar.

I had a delicious pasta dish and nice glass of white wine at Cielo. It is located in a nice courtyard which is beautiful to sit out in for a later dinner. The food is pretty good and they have vegan options for those who are interested. It’s also great that it’s open late, since many places in Weimar are not!

We went there for lunch and the food was delicious! They have a big variety of dishes to choose from and there are also some special ones. Beides lunch/dinner they also serve breakfast. I definitely recommend to go eat at this place when you're in Weimar.
Natalie O — Google review
The food is below average, unfortunately, despite the large portions, warm service and nice venue. Weimar is generally quite expensive to eat out, and it feels disappointing when you get a generic meal for a substantial price. We were a bit desperate for food late in the evening and ended up here, but in a hindsight we would have probably been better off having a snack at our hotel bar.

Not to be missed are their flavorful ribs, prepared in the traditional German style.
What everyone else said. The place is atmospheric (ate outside on a balmy summer evening as a very cheeky water fountain played in the square), the food is excellent if a little on the salty side (Mutzbraten 🫠) and the house beer (I had the darker one 💯🉐) is tasty and refreshing. The service is perfect: no fake friendliness but a genuine and efficient welcome and good advice on food and drink. I didn’t have dessert but the house Bierschnaps was divine!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Best Thuringian food (and beer) I have had, it was extremely tasty. The waiter was exceptionally attentive. I fully recommend this place.

Most restaurants in this part of Germany that serve local dishes use too much salt in them. Not this place. Here they serve great tasting dishes and, not the smallest accomplishment, they have the best hefe weizen beer i’ve ever tasted: Siechn Weimarer. Go there, try it and you will be convinced. To make it even easier. This place is just one block away from the massive parking of the Weimar Atrium.

We’ve been to this place twice already, and it’s absolutely wonderful! 🌟 The omelet with sriracha mayo is a must-try, especially when paired with their sourdough bread — just marvelous, melting in your mouth and unbelievably soft. For desert- basque cheesecake only! Tripple recommended! The coffee is also really good, perfectly rounding out the meal. We ate dinner here with our extended family last weekend (24.09.22). The building is very nicely renovated but the service we experienced was incredibly poor. We waited a very long time for my father-in-law’s meal to arrive and after waiting 10 mins from the time the rest of the plates had been served we alerted a waiter to the missing dish. The waiter disappeared without returning and 5 minutes later we then asked another waiter to investigate what was going on. After some minutes he returned saying the kitchen was very busy the cooks were stressed as the restaurant was full and they only had 6 burners to cook on. The second waiter then tried to appease the situation by apologising and offering other cold alternatives, at which point the first waiter returned with a replacement meal which had been hastily prepared. On inspection my father-in-law found that the liver dish he had ordered was completely raw, the second waiter then examined the plate and agreed it was unacceptable and returned it to the kitchen. As an alternative the waiter then offered my father-in-law a plate of cheese and ham and some bread (which we were subsequently charged 27 Euros for). By the time this cold plate was served half an hour had gone by and the rest of us had already finished our meals. The dishes we ate were all fine, but not particularly special, but you can imagine our collective disappointment at not being able to eat together, as this was meant to be a special occasion. Of course, mistakes happen but Gretchen’s restaurant is pitched as a high-quality venue not Burger King (and in fairness to Burger King I expect they might have handled the situation better). We won't be going back again because we don’t think the restaurant handled the situation professionally. Here's a few suggestions to avoid losing more customers should this happen again: 1. Check all the plates are served and the customers are content with what they ordered within a few minutes of the service being 'complete' (this didn't happen) 2. When a waiter is alerted to a problem, they should report back to the customer immediately (this didn't happen) 3. When the problem is identified, don’t blame your colleagues or the equipment (this did happen) 4. When you try to catch up and get the missing plate out do make sure it is properly cooked (this didn't happen) 5. When you are still flailing around after 30 minutes don't make any further excuses, get the customer anything they want within reason and tell them its on the house (this didn't happen) 6. When you prepare the final bill, try to be generous - even a small reduction or a free glass of wine or two (on a bill of several hundred Euros) would go a long way as an apology (this didn't happen). 7. This is an 'incident' where the manager or front-of-house should have made a formal apology - not just the waiter. (this didn’t happen) Mistakes happen, but it is how you deal with them that counts. Restaurants are not just selling food; they are selling an experience. This was an experience that could have been avoided, at every one of the steps listed above, and is one we would be very happy not to repeat.

36 PHỐ CỔ is a Vietnamese restaurant in Weimar that offers a blend of traditional and modern cuisine in an industrial-style setting. The restaurant serves up a variety of dishes including pho, bao burgers, noodles, and sweet specialties, with options for both meat lovers and vegetarians. Inspired by Hanoi's heritage, the restaurant aims to create a warm atmosphere that reflects the connection between past and present.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. Many people recommended me this restaurant for Vietnamese Cuisine, but it didn't satisfy my expectations. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but not very good. Especially not compared to the price. There are better alternatives for Vietnamese food in Weimar, which aren't quite as fancy as this restaurant, but where you'll get tastier food for a better price.
VvV — Google review
I recently visited this pho restaurant and wanted to share my honest experience. While the staff were courteous and the environment was pleasant, I found the broth to be surprisingly bland. The noodles themselves were decent, but overall the dish lacked the depth of flavor I had hoped for. For a dish that typically highlights aromatic spices and a rich broth, this rendition fell somewhat short in terms of taste. Please understand that flavor preferences can be highly subjective—others may enjoy a milder pho—but in my personal experience, the balance of spices, herbs, and savory notes was insufficient to make the dish stand out. I hope future visits bring more robust seasoning or attention to the broth, as I would genuinely like to see the full potential of this menu offering.
AZL — Google review
I had Pad Thai and it was very tasty. It wasn't at all how it is prepared in Thailand, normally the noodles are cooked in a wok together with the ingredients and a little sauce so that the sauce penetrates the noodles. Here, the noodles were simply boiled in water, topped with the ingredients and poured over with sauce. This gives the noodles a slightly different consistency to pad Thai from Thailand. The spiciness was also more German. But it was still very tasty. Another tip is the Pho. The restaurant is very popular, which is why it is highly recommended to always reserve a table here.
Derik — Google review
Was a really nice place until they deceived at the payment. We even gave a good amount of tip because we liked the food and place but then they didn't give back the right amount. We even had to argue with them, that this wasn't the right amount of change. Really a horrible experience. We will never come back we had been here every year for three years but not anymore. Super disrespectful, do not recommend. Definitely scammers.
Liz T — Google review
The fish burger there tastes like “Leberkäse” a German meat type. When people order fish they expect fish taste and meat taste. It was not possible to finish the burger. It was not a nice experience there. The burger came without French fries, even it costs more than 18 euros. It is a nice cozy atmosphere.
Good V — Google review
We came from the Czech Republic, where we are used to Vietnamese restaurants with larger portions and more varied menus. Overall, it was good, but the portion of meat in the pho soup was too small for my taste.
Sergei U — Google review
The food is generally of average quality. Extremely overprized, especially in comparison to 2023/2024. The menu looks fancier than before but the dishes are the same as always, just way more expensive. Don‘t trust the photos in the menu. I ordered a PhoCo Burger for 17€. The photo in the menu included a beautiful plate with sweet potatoes and a sauce. I just got an average lonely Burger without even being asked if I wanted to add chips/sauce as well. Apparently one pays extra for both chips (5€) and sauce(?€), even though the photo includes everything under „PhoCo Burger“. The service is unfriendly, not personal, not caring, and there are often communication problems. There are definitely better alternatives in Weimar, like in Wielandplatz.

Really wanted to like this place. Took a seat and waited….and waited. Waitress with blond hair was drinking a glass of wine with friends at another table and too busy to serve anyone. I got up to get service inside, after waiting and , as she saw me go inside. she responded in German that she would be there when she was finished. OK, why didn’t you come over whileI waited? Too busy drinking with friends? Drink on your own time! A different waitress approached and started to berate me, in English, claiming her colleague was just talking with friends and not drunk on the job. Really! Ok. Good try. but your “colleague” never came over to serve me at all and you did! She had a wine glass in her hand and was drinking! I don’t care she’s drinking, I just want a drink! Then, the new waitress started complaining and berating me because I I placed the menu she gave me on a wet table after a rainfall . OK, do blame me? Clean the table. It’s your job . Where was I supposed to put the menu? Served my drink by a guy. Third person I saw. Where was my waitress? No tip. No food order. Never come again… Very Disappointed. I was ready to spend a lot of money having a good time but the mood was spoiled. Recommend the management supervise their personnel to make sure they are serving customers instead of drinking.

Very good beer and food. The pulled pork burger came with this nice stretchy cheese and dark, fluffy bun. Packed with flavor. Really recommend the fries with it as well - they were fresh and piping hot. The schnitzel was also good. Overpriced, underwhelming, and lost in translation. Unfortunately, the staff didn’t speak English and my German is… aspirational at best. Communication was a challenge, but sadly, so was the food. What we got was below average – and shockingly expensive. We paid €110 for three meals, and not one of us managed to finish even half the plate. That says something. Definitely not worth it, neither for the taste nor the price. I can’t recommend it.

Lot of seating area. Quite an expansive menu. The food was nice and extremely filling. The service was very kind and attentive. We sat on the veranda which has a great ambience. Prices are competitive and acceptable. Drink menu especially cocktails is really large and definitely worth it even only for the drinks.

Great atmosphere and excellent service. Food was not bad, but was lacking a real Mexican touch and extra spice.

Staff were really polite and friendly. The amount of food was enough and even too much. But some foods didn't taste good for us specially TEXAS CHILI and FAJITA CORDERO but it may tasty for others. The place was really cozy and the music was great.😊

I loved the place! Food was great, portions very generous (too large for myself and kids and even for my hubby - he said although managed it 😉 staff couldn't speak English but compensated very well with politeness and friendliness. We've found this restaurant from Google Maps and interested to check in here because of many good reviews. And I've found those many good reviews were right. If you’re looking for a nice and friendly place to have a good discussion and good dinner surrounded by heritage atmosphere, served by a very nice waiter with plenty of good food and good coffee blends, clean toilet and reasonable price, this is it, I would recommend this place to you. Me and my wife had dinner here from around 5pm up until 10pm. We discussed from A to Z, back to A again and to Z again and again..

Zum Schwarzen Bären, a restaurant located in a restored 1500s building in Weimar, offers contemporary regional cuisine. Despite limited opening hours, the establishment's waitstaff is commended for their service. The restaurant exudes an antique ambiance due to its rich historical background. Serving local dishes at affordable prices, Zum Schwarzen Bären is known for its generous portion sizes. In April, a young couple took over the restaurant and have successfully maintained its quality and friendliness.
We arrived to Weimar on Sunday eve and one of the not many open places was this bar. Im thankful to waitress that served us food around 9.30pm, as we were hungry as hell. Fantastic Burger! Service was very friendly. Atmosphere is somehow simultaneously relaxed yet upscale. Would like to go back to try a steak next time I'm in Weimar.

The food is great but the chef unfortunately is very annoying. He is scaring away his customers by trying to make a "show" or being extra "nice" and "funny" or "easy cool" when really you just want to eat your food quietly and spend time with your date. Dear chef please stay in the kitchen, this is where you can shine. Very unfortunately

We found ourselves in need of coffee and a decent egg related breakfast and we found this place. We liked it so much we returned the next day.

Extremely slow service. Almost finished the coffee by the time they served the cake … after several reminders. They also place the cake slices to be picked up by the waitresses on the bench for loooooong, at the same spot that other customers lean to watch the cakes … practically breathing coughing and sneezing (!) on top of the ones which are ready to be served. Disgusting incident with an old man … fortunately it wasn’t served to me.

Love this place. Good selection of food plenty of fresh veggies, enormous selection of desserts. Customers were relaxing sociably over their meals then taking a long time to drink their coffee, some of them reading newspapers. It was an atmosphere that may not suit everybody but it certainly worked for me. Being close to the university I suspect many of the clients are academics.
William B — Google review
Very rude waitresses, refuse to make eye-contact. There is a great lack of hospitality. The waitress expect me to help serve out drinks on the table without even asking. The coffee and tea were reasonable, and the terrace was okay. That's the two stars.
Kika T — Google review
Extremely poor service. They perhaps give more attention to locals though. The food was mediocre. The vegetarian tofu dish was a bit odd and the ingedients didn't really tie together. The goose quarter was overcooked and a bit dry. We had to wait 25 minutes to get a latte macchiato and cake after our lunch (at 14:00). The latte sat on the bar for 15 minutes before they served it. They ignored us when we asked for the bill. They are obviously understaffed and cannot handle having a full restaurant. I would only suggest it for the cakes.

Small food selection (a large variety of dessert though). Terrible service: one of the most central squares in Weimar, yet no English menu, no one speaks any other language but German. Unbelievably slow service, most of the time just ignoration. Overpriced. Many better options around.

Anwar A — Google review
A bit disappointed, I came here for 6 years and somehow the experience slowly decreased in satisfaction mainly regarding the service: 1st of all the menu is full of french orthographic mistakes, which I think is REALLY sad for a french restaurant... Pretending that Chorizo is french is surprising. My last experience was definitely the worse: I ordered the "panier de poissons", which was extremely salty, Cutlery was broken and nobody seem to care. At the desert time I even experienced that some food was missing in my plate compared to what was announced in the menu, the waiter pretended I was wrong and that was not on the menu without either checking the menu. How come waiters cannot even know what is written of the 2 pages menu of the restaurant they work for? I am sad to write that is definitely not an experience you could have in any restaurant of this range in France
Emilie C — Google review
One of the big disadvantages of living in Germany is the pervasive ignorance of l'onglet -- aka hanging tender, aka butchers' cut. In my view, it's the best steak. I had to try it at La Tarte when visiting Weimar. At first glance, I was underwhelmed; the meat looked overcooked and the servings of haricot verts and gratin potatoes were less than ample. But OMG! Everything was SO delicious. The onglet, while not as pink as I thought I wanted, was perhaps the most tender I've ever tasted. The gratin was a perfect balance of cheese and potato; the haricot verts, the thinnest I've ever seen, were perfectly cooked and salted. I may have to move to Weimar.

This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and it is my favourite place in all of Weimar. It was recommended to me by some locals - and quite right. I went to 10-15 venues in and around Weimar and this is our clear favourite. Absolutely stunning setting (Tiefurt and the river are gorgeous - worth the walk from Weimar) and the food is truly fabulous. We are vegetarians and I would strongly recommend the (vegan) curry and the tagliatelle are amazing. I would also like to mention how friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming the team are, most notably Eugene. I would recommend this restaurant to all our friends and family. Definitely one of not the best restaurant within the Weimar region. Also outstanding value. Eugene - thank you. We will back soon

With its charming decor featuring murals and arched windows, this eatery invites you to relax and savor your meal. The highlight here is undoubtedly their traditional stone-baked pizzas, which are crafted with care and bursting with flavor.
The pizzas were really tasty, but the service could be a bit better.
Sabir T — Google review
The food was delicious! The menu has a wide variety of pizzas and pasta priced very well for the portion size. The only negative is that being a self service restaurant the tables were dirty, surfaces weren't wiped after patrons left
Elmarie M — Google review
We have come to this place and got really disappointed. 1. Pizza was tasty, but there was no salami, although we have ordered with it (it is seen on the pic attached) 2. The pizzamaker wasn't friendly, rather irritated. He can't even speak English, so we couldn't ask him properly even about the place to wash hands When we asked about the allergens (written in the end of the pizza name in brackets), the pizzamaker has replied there is nothing written. 3. Hygiene was bad. The pizzamaker hasn't had gloves, and even worse, he was keeping his phone on the top of the dough pie. 4. The pizzamaker hasn't warned payments by card are not available. We figured out that we can pay in cash only by the moment of picking the pizza up. Can't recommend this place, atmosphere and pizzamaker's attitude were bad, and pizza doesn't comply with it's description.

Nice place for pizza in the heart of Weimar. I had pizza with eggplant it was well priced, very delicious and arrived hot right from the oven. We sat outside, enjoyed our food and watched the people go by. Support your local businesses.

Best pizza in Weimar! Antonio’s is a great pizza place with a funny guy working the oven. I had a few of their pizzas as well as their pasta Antonio, and each item I had was delicious. It’s also a great place to go at the end of a long day since they are open later than most places.
Charles V — Google review
Went to have lunch there with a friend yesterday. My Penne marinara was the best pasta marinara I ever had. Despite the small amount of seafood, the sauce was well made! Loved it!
Nataporn S — Google review
Really bad service (+ all self service), handling pizza toppings with same fingers as money, cutlery and wine glasses dirty. Pizza was okay. Just came here because of the good reviews, but it was a mistake. Go and take your money elsewhere, not worth of it.

This is without a doubt the best pizza in Weimar! I miss it everyday. The restaurant is lovely and the outdoor seating area even more so. I visited this place many times while I was in town and it always seemed very romantic. The service was really good too.

The food was really good. We also had pizza it was also good. Everything was made with fresh items. You could taste the difference. Prices were also reasonably priced. You got your money worth. I would go again.

Food was amazing, tried the dishes of the day: tagliatelle oktopus and pizza messina. Tiramisu is pretty decent, perfect for chocolate lovers. They were really nice and served us food after 10 pm. 10/10

Pomodoro is a nice Italian restaurant located in the heart of Weimar. Sitting outside watching the plaza is a great experience. I started with the Caprese Bruschetta which was tasty, I wish there was more mozzarella on it however. For the entree I had the Pennete Rigate Corte d Assisi which was very good. Nothing really blew me away but the service was good and the location is superb. I had a cappuccino at the end of the meal which was well made.

Food was good. Nothing spectacular but solid good Italian food. Prices were ok
Hoa N — Google review
Pizza was really good and wine was much above expectations. The food preparation time is really fast and you can directly see your pizza being baked in a stone oven. Little drawback - the number of waiters and working experience of some of them could be better. But overall - very good 😊
W T — Google review
Delicious pizza and pasta. Pasta was already brought to the table 10 minutes before the pizza. The young man who helped us was the hardest worker of all employees but what was he grumpy. At least a lot of chairs on the terrace were obsolete, due a full terrace, some customers were very uncomfortable because there were no good chair's left.

Wine bar
Weinbar Weimar is an elegant wine bar located in a modern setting with an accompanying garden. It boasts an extensive selection of over 100 bottles of wine and serves a light cafe menu. The food at this establishment is exceptional, with every dish coming out of the kitchen being flawless. The cheese is the only item not made in-house, but the overall quality of the food more than makes up for it. Despite some considering it expensive, the exceptional quality justifies the price.
The best food, service and atmosphere we have had in Weimar! You can not miss this place if you visit Weimar! The place is busy so be sure to make an reservation.
Sabrina S — Google review
The selection of wines is fabulous, the food excellent. I love this place!
Sebastian J — Google review
Deserves to be visited for the extremely good food, not to mention the extraordinary wine list which does of course cover the entire wall. I ate there both nights out of the 2 nights I spent in Weimar. I had 3 plates each night and only the cheese was not made in-house. It is extremely rare that every single dish that comes out of the kitchen is faultless, but this is the case here. I would be confident if I ate there tomorrow and tried the small plates I have not yet tried, they would all be good. Some say it is expensive but you get what you pay for. Three small plates with two glasses of wine for 38 euros I consider a bargain for this quality. Absolutely Recommended as a must visit in Weimar.

Greek restaurant
In the myth of Rhodes, Pallas awaits you with a true feast of Greek cuisine, delighting you with a variety of delicious dishes. Here, aromatic spices, tender meat variations, and creamy sauces come together for a harmonious experience. The menu offers a wide selection of traditional appetizers to grilled and pan dishes, all of which are convincing in taste.
Rhodos Pallas is an excellent and welcoming restaurant. I went there two nights in a row because the food and ambiance was so great. The staff is extremely friendly and bring you free shots of Ouzo. The food is also great. I had the Rhodos Teller which featured many different meats as well as fries and rice. The meat was all seasoned perfectly and cooked well. The plate is big enough to share and the price is great. I could have done without the salad that comes before the meal, I didn’t care for it much.

Great food, amazing service at a reasonable price! We arrived Saturday night before the closing time with young children after a long trip. The owner was kind to re-open the kitchen and we had great dinner.

Loved it! Tried this baby calamaris in the lunch menu. So well grilled. The vegetable was also very very well cooked, not too soft ! They gave a very yummy free chicken soup and some bread as starter. Highly recommend. Amazing food, friendly service with good price!
Nataporn S — Google review
Average German food instead of Greek, quite expensive. Not recommended if you want to try authentic Greek cuisine. According to other comments I had expected free ouzo after meal, but I was offered nothing. All other german costmers were provided with ouzos. What a shame! One of my friends also encountered that teenagers threw something at her. I am very dissappointed about the city.

I ordered "Leitungswasser" and after explaining the waiter that i dont want bottled water, he said "alles klar", but they still charged 4,40€ for 4dl of water, which came in a glass without the bottle! Also, the meat was dry and obviously from the previous day. Food was really disappointing and tasted like warmed up leftovers.

Restaurant
I visited Pizzeria Napoli almost two decades ago when I was backpacking. It remains the most delicious pizza I have ever had. Although I can't recall the specifics of my order, I remember enjoying it alone on a bench in front of Schillers House, creating a cherished memory from that trip. While uncertain if I'll have the opportunity to visit Weimar again, if given a chance, I would definitely return to Pizzeria Napoli.
One of the best place to spend Friday evening with your loved ones
Joshua A — Google review
While the Napoli pizza (anchovies and capers) was quite tasty by nature, the Caprese pizza was very bland. The service was very friendly and we were seated nicely.
Yves P — Google review
The pizza was fine and the size was pretty great, however it lacked a little bit of flavor and spices, for the price of it you can go to Dominos and eat maybe two pizzas that will be just as tasty. Nevertheless it was a great place to have lunch right in the middle of the beautiful city center. The atmosphere is warm and cozy.
Rodolfo Z — Google review
Bland, unsalted food. Restaurant is saving on ingredients like meat & cheese. Carbonara was not creamy. Better go to the other Italian nearby, far better. This restaurant is not run by Italians.
Slava — Google review
I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant today. When I waved in a completely normal and polite manner to get the waiter’s attention for ordering, he approached me and lectured me in a serious tone, saying that this gesture is not acceptable in Germany because it supposedly resembles a historically controversial salute. I was honestly shocked — my hand gesture was absolutely innocent and common, not exaggerated or disrespectful in any way. I replied calmly, saying, “I understand, but I think maybe you’re being a little too sensitive.” The waiter then became quite personal and said he’s old enough to be my father, and I shouldn’t speak to him using “du” (the informal “you”), but rather “Sie” (the formal form), because we’re not friends. The conversation became uncomfortable, and I didn’t feel welcome at all. I ended up leaving the restaurant without eating. I couldn’t help but feel that I was treated differently — and worse — because I am a foreigner. It’s deeply disappointing and shows a lack of hospitality and openness, which is especially surprising in a service setting.

Not to much to add Really nice tasty food Just sad that I didn’t come with time as was a short visiting
Pp A — Google review
Only had the pizza here but the woodfire oven made the base of the pizza really good however what was on the pizza was bland. I got the capresse pizza. Which turned out to be extremely bland. The sauce no taste plus the toppings you would usually get such as olive oil, parmesano, salt, pepper and balsamico were not served with our food and when I asked for some it was taken from another table that just finished eating. Also we were only strictly able to order pizza, we arrived an hour before closing

we stumbled upon this cafe for lunch and were super pleasantly surprised. Great service, very helpful when I asked about vegan options, and very charming interior and outside seating. We had the carrot ginger soup and the goulash. Cash only, so be prepared

A really cosy cafe with an old school charm to it. Pretty central location in Weimar and easy to find. There’s not much parking around but it’s close enough for a quick stroll. The menu is fairly straight forward and all items are customisable. A coffee is roughly €3 and a breakfast meal around about €6. The staff also speak English so can helpfully guide you through the menu. The decor has a really old cafe charm to it with nice bookcases and chairs making it feel like you’re at home. However, I would book and make a reservation as space can be limited at the busy times in the morning.
Andrew H — Google review
This cafe is super beautiful both inside and outside. It’s a perfect place to spend some time on your own, reading a book. I’ve ordered cappuccino with soya milk and sadly it was the worst cappuccino I’ve ever tried :( But in general I liked this place. Just wouldn’t recommend ordering what I ordered.
Anastasia Y — Google review
the main problem with this otherwise charming café is the service: (very) slow, hardly attentive. an observation: other guests were not given silverware with their breakfast, and had to be aided by still other customers. besides, the prices do not seem right (certainly as regards value for money). the place has potential, and could seem comfortable otherwise.

Nice restaurant in Side street of Weimar not too far the city centre and Rathaus. The staffs were really nice, breakfast was tasty. I had the Smarties breakfast 😋😋
Michael U — Google review
Terrible experience. They don't have card reader. They said there was a sign on the door but it is little and in German. They insisted to keep my passport with them and go away to find a cash machine. It is against the law, by the way. I was sent TWICE from their cafe to get cash. It was really unpleasant and humiliating. The owner lady didn't say even a sorry, she behavied as if I was a stupid tourist and it would have been my fault not to keep cash with me. I spent a half hour to pay 12 euro. Rude, lawless, terrible owner, doesn't deserve to have this café.

Very nice atmosphere like a traditional coffee house with books, newspapers, etc. that invites you to stay longer than you actually needed or wanted to. ;) The tea and cake were great and the staff super friendly. Nestled in the charming streets of Weimar, Schnitzeloase is a must-visit for schnitzel enthusiasts. This delightful eatery offers an impressive array of both classic and inventive schnitzels, including a tasty vegetarian option. The inviting atmosphere makes it perfect for dining, especially on the terrace during sunny days. Guests rave about the generous portion sizes that are not only delicious but also allow for leftovers to enjoy later.
This was an amazing meal! I had the schnitzel with champignon rahm sauce while the hubby had schnitzel au four. We both made sure we finished it. The schnitzel was moist and flavorful which doesn't always happen. Although the wait staff wasn't totally great, the owner was fun to talk to and made us Americans feel right at home. I've marked this restaurant as a favorite on Google maps and I hope you do too if you are ever visiting Weimar, Deutschland!

You like schnitzel and you want something else then the standard ones? This is the place for you! A large veriaty of Schnitzels and even the option to "build" you own (like with pizza). The portions are BIG, and we did not even get the XL versions..... The Schnitzels are good and so is the accompanying fries. The mayonaise and ketchup bottles are equally large. The service was good enough.

Super friendly owner and staff ! It is one of the few places in Weimar where you are welcome even if you do not speak German. It's such a shame that many places will offer terrible service to non-german speakers. And I am saying that as a German. These guys will be happy to speak English with you. The portions are delicious and huuuuge and it is no problem whatsoever to take home whatever you cannot finish so you have a ready lunch the next day. Definitely try the cauliflower schnitzel !!! :)

The Food was quite good. There is alot of outside seating not so much inside so it's better to call ahead if one wants to sit inside. The Staff was a little weird, one staff member didn't know the menu and the item on the menu had to be pointed out. The staff member who brought us our food, just called out the numbers and was seemingly annoyed that some of us didn't remember the numbers. At last we wanted to split the check 4 ways which also seemd to be more annoyance to the waiter.

✨ I recently visited a cozy café in Weimar on my friend’s recommendation, and it was totally worth it! The atmosphere was so inviting, perfect for a relaxed morning. I‘m an Aussie and I love a good flat white. This is the best coffee I’ve had in all of Germany over the last 10 years, and I’m not exaggerating! Smooth froth, strong, tasteful, and even lovely latte art on top. The baked goods were delicious too! I only wish I lived in Weimar so I could give these people my money more regularly.

🌟 Brotklappe – A Hidden Gem in Weimar That Feels Like France 🇫🇷🥐 We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve visited Brotklappe – and for good reason. Every time something makes me feel happy or deserves a little celebration, this is the first place that comes to mind. It’s not just a bakery; it’s an experience. From the perfectly flaky croissants to the rich, flavorful sourdough and the deliciously herby focaccia, everything here tastes like it was lifted straight out of a Parisian boulangerie. Honestly, aside from Bordeaux and Paris, I haven’t found croissants this good anywhere else in Germany. There’s a certain magic to this place – the kind that makes you slow down, breathe in the aroma of fresh bread, and just smile. I truly love Brotklappe from the heart. It’s more than just a bakery to me – it’s a ritual, a little slice of joy. *If you find almond croissant, Just buy that. It was not available today but that's dman good one here!

Simply fantastic. We absolutely loved it. I lived in Weimar for quite some years and when we visited I had to go there immediately. I have to say it's even better than in the beginning. The buns, the croissants, the focaccia, coffee, chai latte... All extraordinary. The prices are a little bit higher than usual in Weimar, but they explain it very well in the shop and for the quality, it's absolutely worth it

A fine example of German bread culture. All of their breads and the spreads are amazing. Great quality. Vegan friendly options. A little pricey but worth the money. If you want coffee to go then prepare to have your own flask / mug or you need to buy refundable mug from there. And because of its popularity it’s very busy. Prepare to stand in line.

There’s lots of options for vegans (as far as I could tell, all of the cakes and main dishes) and the staff was especially friendly. My favorite coffee spot in Weimar so far. 💜

In Germany, seafood is not typically consumed; however, Restaurant Garofoli in Weimar manages to impress even those who have lived in a bustling city like NYC. The establishment offers a delightful array of fresh seafood dishes, including perfectly cooked calamari and a delectable seafood soup that rivals those found on islands or in coastal towns. The restaurant's location adds to its charm, while the decor creates a pleasant atmosphere for patrons. Furthermore, the service provided by the staff is exceptional.
I don’t usually eat seafood in Germany and while I love Weimar and have many spots where I am happy enough, I used to live in NYC so I’m hard to impress. However, Garofoli was absolutely delicious. Fresh seafood, perfect calamari, my partner had the seafood soup and it was also spot on (and let me be clear, my background is also from islands and I went to college in an ocean town so I know fresh fish) and short of flying directly to the ocean, this is as fresh as humanly possible. My partner is also a longtime Weimar native and we have rarely been so charmed by a restaurant here. Good food, great Location, charming decor, great service and a lovely atmosphere.
Mar G — Google review
I had a very unfortunate experience here while with friends. We were quite a large group of around 12 and had asked if that was alright with the staff before we were seated and they agreed it was fine. Although the group was big, we were actually quite quiet as we were all pretty tired and simply wanted a nice meal together. It felt like we were tucked away and avoided as we weren’t given anything until we asked for some bread rolls due to not receiving food well over an hour after ordering. Several members of staff were also very rude to a few members of our group and, despite the food being just fine, the experience overall left a very bad taste in our mouths.

No problem, the tables were immediately moved and set appropriately. Contrary to my expectations based on online reviews, our service was very good! personable & friendly! ! ! 1 star deduction: because our special request: the pureed noodles didn't come as ordered (the kitchen probably didn't believe we were serious) One of 3 tiramisus had 2 pieces of edge on the plate. (Translated by Google) We had a really good time at this place. On recommendation we stopped at Garofoli. We reserved the table the day before, which is highly recommended. The waitress (presumably the boss) was extremely courteous and extremely polite. The wine recommendation with the food was appropriate, although I would have liked free tap water. No matter, we just ordered mineral water. From the pictures you can see how lovingly and vividly the dishes are prepared. Although it took an exceptionally long time between the starter and the main course, this was promptly “compensated” with a free dessert. I would like to mention that we would definitely have ordered a dessert because we were very euphoric about what the neighboring tables got ;-) The price/performance ratio is appropriate. The portions are good in quantity and absolutely great in size. All in all, you can give an unreserved recommendation here.

Korean restaurant
San in Weimar is a charming restaurant that offers a diverse selection of Korean and Asian dishes in a welcoming atmosphere. The menu features healthy, vegan, and vegetarian options that are sure to delight the senses. Guests can expect to savor authentic Korean specialties served with care. Visitors have praised the scallion pancakes for their delightful crispy texture and flavorful beef bulgogi entree. The restaurant also provides friendly service and an array of tasty side dishes.
I’m very pleased with the taste of the food because it wasn’t too salty, and I appreciate that a lot! The pickled radish and salad was very good, though I wish the plant based bibimbap and bibim-japchae came with more vegetables and greens. I think perhaps they ran out of spinach, which is fine, but I’d appreciate more transparency in the communication. Since vegetables is quite important here. However, big plus for low salt food! +++++ And for plant based orders, it would be kind to add an extra something, since we often take away another ingredient, like eggs. Then a substitute like spinach/carrot/onion/mushroom is very much appreciated! Nevertheless, staff is lovely and kind. And since it’s a busy place it can take a while, but it’s worth to wait a bit for good food. You can always enjoy the beautiful interior while you wait!
Belinda — Google review
I have not had much Korean food before so San was a new experience for me. We started off with an order of the scallion pancakes which were excellent. Crispy on the inside with a softer texture on the inside. The beef bulgogi entree was very flavorful but felt like it was missing something. My friend got the beef bulgogi that was in a soup and that was better. The meals also come with a plate of sides that seemed a bit odd and out of place, but everything was tasty on the plate. Very friendly service.
Charles V — Google review

The food was very delicious and the prices were similar to every other restaurant. The menu options were varied and the decoration was lovely. However, we had to wait for a really long time before being served what we had ordered.

The Food is Ok, but it is really expensive for what you get. So small the portion. I ordered the €10 fried rice with egg and pork. It was a little bit of rice, almost no pork. Maybe max 25gram of pork. And the Miso soup came in a tea cup. Once again so small with two little pieces of tofu. And it tasted like water. They are penny pinching everywhere. I left hungry that I went to McDonald's.

Honestly, it was a bad experience. First of all, it's only cash. The waiter's face changed to a rude expression when she found out that we had no cash. I mean, who carries 40 euros in their wallet? Then she told us where the atm was, and thankfully we got the money, and her face lit up like nothing happened. Also, the sushi was bad. It was very dry and didn't taste that good. Also, I know that this is not much of a deal, but the waiter just poured the Fanta from a plastic bottle, and it was not cool and fizzy at all. Besides, she did not know how to speak English, so we couldn't communicate very well. It's not like everything is cheap. 2 menus for 40 euros? I really don't understand the people who say that this restaurant is cheap and everything is great. Please save your money and don't ever go to this restaurant.

Cash only!! Nice service and sweet people working there. Very average-below average food. Not much flavor. Surprised that people say it’s so great… it’s a pity, but even basic noodles or fried rice was flavorless. I hope the kitchen takes not and works to boost flavors! What a little gem of a place! Great food, charming Asian-inspired garden seating and wonderful, fast service. The spring rolls are the real deal! I also enjoyed my fried duck salad with vermicelli washed down with a chilled sweet Riesling. The sauce/dressing, however, needs a bit more punch. Just a tad bland for my liking. Robert P — Google review
I have no idea what travesty of asian food this is supposed to be (well I know Pad Thai is supposed to be Thai) but this hodgepodge of flavors, cuisines and techniques I just tasted was awful. Instead of the Pad Thai I was expecting, I received some random udon (japanese) soup noodles, swimming in a pool of grease, with some random vegetables (perhaps leftover from someone's salad?) thrown in, with some disgustingly cooked mint leaves thrown in to add a mouthwash texture and scent to what I wouldn't recycle. The duck was crispy though and the noodles in the "chinese" food weren’t that bad. If you were in an Asian restaurant in the midwest in the 1960s! All in all TERRIBLE WESTERNIZED SLOP. The delivery person was very nice though, so it might just be because people want to eat this junk and think its asian food. My half European kid seemed to like whatever it was. Probably nicer than a cold potato.

I ordered fried rice with shrimps, fried noodles with chicken and a soup. The soup arrived only in half because it was spilled over in the bag. The rice and noodles were extremely greasy and not much taste. The soup arrived in a polystyrol container which these days is already a no-go. When I mentioned to the costumer service that the soup did not arrive in full, he just asked me if the rest of the food was ok. No apology, no intention to amend the issue. I will not buy from them again.

The waiter's attitude was very bad! I apologized to him for arguing with him because of long waiting time after the meal, but he completely ignored me and was very ungentlemanly! We had a long way and were very hungry. As a result, the guests who ordered later than us had already served the meal, and we waited for 30 minutes before the food was served. (Translated by Google) The food was actually always delicious. We recently received the wrong delivery because their website obviously misread some information (similar to the "Closed on Tuesdays - no orders accepted" message, which often appears on random days of the week). Upon request, I was politely promised the correct order, which arrived. Unfortunately, however, it was delivered amidst shouting and semi-threatening behavior from the driver. I have no idea why he took his anger out on me and not on the incompetent developers of this pathetic excuse for a website, but we certainly won't be ordering again.
