Restaurant
Café & Restaurant Frauentor is an elegant and traditional café in Weimar, offering a delightful selection of breakfast options, delicious cakes, and a variety of coffee choices. The café also serves hearty German main dishes in a cozy atmosphere. With its Viennese-style ambiance and terrace, it's the perfect spot to enjoy organic meals and indulge in tasty cocktails.
We found ourselves in need of coffee and a decent egg related breakfast and we found this place. They completely won us over by immediatly coming over with a water bowl and some treats (permission was sought and given) for our dog. Decent caffe and a nice breakfast. We liked it so much we returned the next day.
Stephen C — Google review
Extremely slow service. Almost finished the coffee by the time they served the cake … after several reminders. They also place the cake slices to be picked up by the waitresses on the bench for loooooong, at the same spot that other customers lean to watch the cakes … practically breathing coughing and sneezing (!) on top of the ones which are ready to be served. Disgusting incident with an old man … fortunately it wasn’t served to me.

Nice location, excellent food and super friendly staff
Frank G — Google review
The waiter, Pascal was super kind and a lot of fun!!! Loved the drinks so much too, especially since it was cool that they served sencha in an authentic Japanese tea pot💚
Google review
Love this place. Good selection of food plenty of fresh veggies, enormous selection of desserts. Customers were relaxing sociably over their meals then taking a long time to drink their coffee, some of them reading newspapers. It was an atmosphere that may not suit everybody but it certainly worked for me. Being close to the university I suspect many of the clients are academics.
William B — Google review
Very rude waitresses, refuse to make eye-contact. There is a great lack of hospitality. The waitress expect me to help serve out drinks on the table without even asking. The coffee and tea were reasonable, and the terrace was okay. That's the two stars.
Kika T — Google review
Extremely poor service. They perhaps give more attention to locals though. The food was mediocre. The vegetarian tofu dish was a bit odd and the ingedients didn't really tie together. The goose quarter was overcooked and a bit dry. We had to wait 25 minutes to get a latte macchiato and cake after our lunch (at 14:00). The latte sat on the bar for 15 minutes before they served it. They ignored us when we asked for the bill. They are obviously understaffed and cannot handle having a full restaurant. I would only suggest it for the cakes.
Storm — Google review
Small food selection (a large variety of dessert though). Terrible service: one of the most central squares in Weimar, yet no English menu, no one speaks any other language but German. Unbelievably slow service, most of the time just ignoration. Overpriced. Many better options around.

Nestled in the heart of Weimar, Residenz Cafe & Restaurant is a charming establishment that has been delighting visitors since 1839. This historic venue offers a delightful German menu that spans from breakfast to dinner, making it an ideal spot for any meal of the day.
Had lunch and coffee here and was fantastic. Very busy but staff were very attentive and quick to ask if all was ok whilst we wait for food to arrive. Nice atmosphere with great view of Schloss so well worth dropping in.
Go P — Google review
This is a delightful place for a late lunch. The cafe itself is large and spacious with a superb vibe: Ladies having tea and some pretty serious chess in progress. The food was fresh, excellent and well cooked. I asked for some accommodations to my dietary needs and these were met with pleasure. The service was friendly and I felt thoroughly welcomed. Although I did not have the cakes they looked very inviting! Afterwards I had a walk in the spectacular Park An Der Lim just down the road from the cafe. A wonderful afternoon. Vielen Dank Residenz!
Ibusith — Google review
Lovely German restaurant with a terrace right at the foot off Schloss Weimar. Service was very lovely and food was quite good. Worth a visit!
Jay S — Google review
Soak up some sun while enjoying a nice drink and good food, with views of the castle and the park! Just went for dinner here and was pleasantly surprised! They have a weekly menu with a mixed selection of dishes from more modern international food to traditional food from the region. I had a very good Sauerbraten with beautifully light potato dumplings (praiseworthy), tender, fall apart pork and steamed carrots. For dessert, we had warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and strawberry puree. Very nice indeed. We sat there for a good 2 hours on comfortable seats with a good distance from other diners. My only criticism? We waited a good 20 minutes for a waiter to even acknowledge our existence before taking matters into our own hands and waving enthusiastically for attention (we might have sat there for another 20 minutes had we not...) Staff were perfectly friendly and professional once there, but service was slow indeed... However, if you're not pressed for time, this place is definitely recommended!
Hannah R — Google review
This has to be one of the very worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Absolute novice staff. A “black coffee” needed to be ordered 3 times and took 35min to come. Food? Foget it about before about an hour post arrival. Mediocre in every way, but most disappointing was the arrogance of the wait staff who claimed “you haven’t been waiting that long”. Wow. After 30min and upon us entering the premises to see what was going on, it was evident they were just submitting the order to the kitchen purely because of our presence. It’s not even that hard guys - you are not serving hoch cuisine. It’s breakfast. Simple eggs, bread, yoghourt, coffee. Attitude matters. This was the disappointment of the century, and an awful way to start the day.

Nestled in the heart of Weimar, Café Wünsch Dir Was is a delightful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This charming café exudes an old-school vibe, complete with cozy decor featuring inviting bookcases and comfortable seating that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're in the mood for a delicious cup of coffee paired with scrumptious cake or looking to kickstart your day with a hearty breakfast, this café has something for everyone.
we stumbled upon this cafe for lunch and were super pleasantly surprised. Great service, very helpful when I asked about vegan options, and very charming interior and outside seating. We had the carrot ginger soup and the goulash. Cash only, so be prepared
Iana — Google review
A really cosy cafe with an old school charm to it. Pretty central location in Weimar and easy to find. There’s not much parking around but it’s close enough for a quick stroll. The menu is fairly straight forward and all items are customisable. A coffee is roughly €3 and a breakfast meal around about €6. The staff also speak English so can helpfully guide you through the menu. The decor has a really old cafe charm to it with nice bookcases and chairs making it feel like you’re at home. However, I would book and make a reservation as space can be limited at the busy times in the morning.
Andrew H — Google review
This cafe is super beautiful both inside and outside. It’s a perfect place to spend some time on your own, reading a book. I’ve ordered cappuccino with soya milk and sadly it was the worst cappuccino I’ve ever tried :( But in general I liked this place. Just wouldn’t recommend ordering what I ordered.
Anastasia Y — Google review
the main problem with this otherwise charming café is the service: (very) slow, hardly attentive. an observation: other guests were not given silverware with their breakfast, and had to be aided by still other customers. besides, the prices do not seem right (certainly as regards value for money). the place has potential, and could seem comfortable otherwise.
S M — Google review
Went there for a relaxing lunch . Good atmosphere with great background music. Lovely Maroon Riesling soup. Definitely worth a visit
E B — Google review
Nice restaurant in Side street of Weimar not too far the city centre and Rathaus. The staffs were really nice, breakfast was tasty. I had the Smarties breakfast 😋😋
Michael U — Google review
Terrible experience. They don't have card reader. They said there was a sign on the door but it is little and in German. They insisted to keep my passport with them and go away to find a cash machine. It is against the law, by the way. I was sent TWICE from their cafe to get cash. It was really unpleasant and humiliating. The owner lady didn't say even a sorry, she behavied as if I was a stupid tourist and it would have been my fault not to keep cash with me. I spent a half hour to pay 12 euro. Rude, lawless, terrible owner, doesn't deserve to have this café.
CsokaErno — Google review
Very nice atmosphere like a traditional coffee house with books, newspapers, etc. that invites you to stay longer than you actually needed or wanted to. ;) The tea and cake were great and the staff super friendly. The only thing that I was missing was some decaf coffee and vegan options, but if that’s not an interest to you, you’ll be perfectly happy. :)

Nestled beside the enchanting Herderkirche, Cafe Caroline welcomes visitors with a magical entrance that leads into a lush garden adorned with inviting white seating. This hidden gem may be tricky to locate and has limited hours, making it somewhat of a challenge to visit. However, its charm lies in being an exceptional spot for indulgence rather than your typical breakfast café. Here, you can savor freshly baked cakes and delightful warm treats crafted from herbs and salads sourced directly from their garden.

(Translated by Google) It is almost impossible to visit this café when it is open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. I've been trying for two years because there should be nice outdoor spaces. I don't usually write reviews without actually seeing the inside of a location. I'd rather post this without stars as a purely informative note since there are no opening times listed. But unfortunately that doesn't work ;) Edit/Answer: No, I wasn't always there on weekends because I live right next door. I've tried it several times and it usually came right at closing time (it was just being mopped). Instead of a friendly "Unfortunately we're already closed", we only received angry looks twice while we were already standing in the café, so we walked backwards out again. But it's nice that the opening times are now noted and thank you for the answer! :)

The drinks were good, but the food was horrible. Ordered the Panino Parma without tomatoes and it came with remoulade sauce, like why is that the default for the paninos. On top of that the service isn't the best, some servers are polite and friendly others are a bit rude. It took around 40 minutes to get my order. Would not recommend, a bakery is better than this.

I would be happy to teach the moderator of this restaurant to how manage the staff and colleagues to behave with customers and how they should be polite and nice in their services. Very low quality of service as well as waiters or waitresses

Really on the edge with this one. Waitresses are very friendly. We did get a spot on a Sunday which is pleasant. I had the egg special, about 10 euros which seems fair. Still: eggs looked good but were on the dry side and rather unseasoned. Cake was good.

Nestled in the heart of Weimar, directly across from the majestic castle, lies ACC Cafe Galerie—a charming eatery housed within a historic 400-year-old Renaissance building. This artistic café is part of the vibrant cultural center known as ACC and offers an enticing array of vegetarian and vegan dishes. From roasted flatbread topped with arugula-olive cream and goat cheese to a warming carrot-ginger soup perfect for a light bite, there's something for everyone.
delicious, hearty, local and creative dishes are coming your way. Quality - price very good & most definitely a lot of originality and thoughtfulness in setting up the menu. Cosy inside and nice staff - ate twice, once we has to wait a bit for the food but it was totally worth it. Coffee also great. Wholesome place in Weimar.

We've found this restaurant from Google Maps and interested to check in here because of many good reviews. And I've found those many good reviews were right. If you’re looking for a nice and friendly place to have a good discussion and good dinner surrounded by heritage atmosphere, served by a very nice waiter with plenty of good food and good coffee blends, clean toilet and reasonable price, this is it, I would recommend this place to you. Me and my wife had dinner here from around 5pm up until 10pm. We discussed from A to Z, back to A again and to Z again and again..

New favorite spot in Weimar. Their rabarber lemonade is the best. Cheap to eat the delicious dish of the day. Can’t wait to go back.

The best part about this place, besides the fact that it serves the biggest hot chocolate in Weimar, is that it is student friendly. So you don't have to worry that they'll ask you to leave if you start doing your homework there. Also, they have an outdoors seating area.

We went here on our team off-site event for dinner. The food was good but not mind blowing. The service wasn't tue fastest and they gave me a half empty bottle of water but quickly rectified their mistake. Horrible service, not surprising for Germany. When you step in to the place they don't even bother to look at you for the first 20 minutes, after that the service continues to ignore you.

(Translated by Google) The small café has a cozy Italian atmosphere. We had two delicious Campari Spritzes. A bowl of olives or chips would have been great, as with an Italian aperitivo. That would certainly attract even more customers. It's a wonderful place to sit in the sun around 5 p.m.! The service could also be improved a bit. Nestled in the vibrant Schillerstraße, directly across from the iconic Schillerhaus, Giancarlo Cafe is a delightful Italian gelateria that embodies the essence of la dolce vita. This charming ice cream parlor boasts a lovely ambiance, especially during summer when its outdoor seating fills up with patrons eager to savor delicious gelato while soaking in the picturesque surroundings.
You don't want to miss out on the breakfast special! One italian coffee plus–first come first serve!–filled croissant (pistachio, chocolate, vanilla or plain with marmelade) or roll / toast with cheese or sausage for 1,50€. No joke 😁

I discovered this place one day while walking with Weimar, and its beautiful floral decoration caught my attention. I was very surprised by the wide variety of ice cream flavors they offer. I especially recommend the tiramisu, since it includes pieces of bread/cookie with coffee liqueur, which makes it tremendously delicious.
Janik T — Google review
Grat icecream place. Can highly recommend it to everyone! They have a lot of seating available outside. Furthermore, the variety is amazing and the quality is perfect. I only subtracted a star since the waiter which brought us the ice didn't even take his time to explain what was in which cup! And then he was really rude when we asked for help. Even when he brought the second round of cups he didn't even try to be nice!
Oliver W — Google review
Nice position in the walking area of Weimar. We had a coffee, the waitress was very nice and she helped us with English (she was probably the only one speaking English in the place). No cards are accepted, only cash.
Paolo B — Google review
I have rarely experienced such poor service at a place. We had to wait over 20 minutes to be served and were repeatedly told that someone would be with us shortly. There is clearly a serious issue with management and organization — there was no table assignment at all, as five different waiters ended up taking our order, delivering the food, and handling the payment. To top it off, they didn’t accept card payments and failed to inform us in advance. We even had to chase them down just to pay. Not recommended at all — unfriendly staff, disorganized service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Negev S — Google review
Soo sweet Ice cream and soooo unfriendly staff. Do not go there again!!!! The waitress was behaving as if she was drunk or something. Ice cream was horrible. Very expensive according to service and taste.

We came this place with recommendation but İt was total failure for us . The waitresses was so rude and they totally ignored us . We probably waited like 30 min . And my friend tried to talk to someone else so they can help us but they also ignored its make me so angry . Yes they have a good waffle but its couldnt make my day . As I can see a lot people write about the waitresses problem but no one care I suppose 🤦🤦🤷 . I hope they can do something about this .

Brotklappe | Bio-Handwerksbäckerei + Café, located at Frauenplan, offers a Swedish-inspired ambiance with the aroma of freshly baked bread and ground coffee. It's a great spot to enjoy a break with oat milk cappuccino and vegan treats while watching the street scene. The place also serves tasty brunch options and is known for its bio products. The bakery is popular for its delicious homemade breads and spreads, catering to vegan-friendly choices as well.
✨ I recently visited a cozy café in Weimar on my friend’s recommendation, and it was totally worth it! The atmosphere was so inviting, perfect for a relaxed morning. We tried a variety of treats, but the almond croissant was the highlight—absolutely delicious. I’m really happy I went, and I’d definitely recommend it. 🌿☕🥐

I‘m an Aussie and I love a good flat white. This is the best coffee I’ve had in all of Germany over the last 10 years, and I’m not exaggerating! Smooth froth, strong, tasteful, and even lovely latte art on top. The baked goods were delicious too! I only wish I lived in Weimar so I could give these people my money more regularly.

This was one of my favorite places to go for a coffee when I was living in Weimar. They have the best Zimtknuts and a very friendly staff. Sitting outside in the summer, enjoying your cup of coffee and the sun was always so nice 🌞

🌟 Brotklappe – A Hidden Gem in Weimar That Feels Like France 🇫🇷🥐 We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve visited Brotklappe – and for good reason. Every time something makes me feel happy or deserves a little celebration, this is the first place that comes to mind. It’s not just a bakery; it’s an experience. From the perfectly flaky croissants to the rich, flavorful sourdough and the deliciously herby focaccia, everything here tastes like it was lifted straight out of a Parisian boulangerie. Honestly, aside from Bordeaux and Paris, I haven’t found croissants this good anywhere else in Germany. There’s a certain magic to this place – the kind that makes you slow down, breathe in the aroma of fresh bread, and just smile. I truly love Brotklappe from the heart. It’s more than just a bakery to me – it’s a ritual, a little slice of joy. *If you find almond croissant, Just buy that. It was not available today but that's dman good one here!

Simply fantastic. We absolutely loved it. I lived in Weimar for quite some years and when we visited I had to go there immediately. I have to say it's even better than in the beginning. The buns, the croissants, the focaccia, coffee, chai latte... All extraordinary. The prices are a little bit higher than usual in Weimar, but they explain it very well in the shop and for the quality, it's absolutely worth it

A fine example of German bread culture. All of their breads and the spreads are amazing. Great quality. Vegan friendly options. A little pricey but worth the money. If you want coffee to go then prepare to have your own flask / mug or you need to buy refundable mug from there. And because of its popularity it’s very busy. Prepare to stand in line.

Nice place to have a break with an oat milk cappuccino and mohnschnecke (vegan) or banana bread (not vegan) while watching the street and people passing by. Also good to know that everything is bio and that it is a local business :)

Lily's Waffel Bar & Café is a delightful establishment that offers a wide range of delectable waffles and refreshing beverages. The ambiance of the café is cozy and welcoming, creating a pleasant atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals. The prices at Lily's are reasonable, making it an affordable option for those looking to indulge in some delicious treats. In addition to the friendly staff, the café also boasts an impressive selection of drinks, such as the London fog and summer in Provance.
The delicious waffles, the inspiring decoration, with outstanding and motivated owners to serve, makes Lily's Waffel my favorite spot in Weimar! What makes it so unique is the variety of waffles made with top-quality and healthy ingredients, nutritive bowls to get your boost of energy without having artificially added sugar, and the refreshing cocktails and smoothies! In addition, I like that the owners consistently look for new and healthy delicious options to upgrade their menu or make it specific to each season (e.g., fruit seasons adapted to waffles). If you are looking for something salty, they have great options for salty waffles as well:) Besides enjoying the time with your friends and loved ones, it is also an optimal place to work and drink coffee to finish your tasks! Highly recommend it!

(Translated by Google) Was in this nice shop for the first time and had a hot chocolate outside and bought some chocolates from the counter to take home. The nice employee was friendly, the hot chocolate was delicious and the toilet available for customers was practical. Unfortunately, very few of the pralines/truffles at a price of around €7 per 100 grams met our taste. That's a shame but it was worth a try. Still four stars for the beautiful shop and the friendly service.

(Translated by Google) Very, very friendly employees (especially the lady with the short hair!) - you feel really comfortable and recognized as a customer from the first minute. The coffee is very tasty and of course all the other delicacies too 😍 If you want to drink good and nice coffee you should definitely go to Arko!

(Translated by Google) Good location, coffee and cake ok. Unfortunately very unfriendly service. If a woman doesn't like working in service, then she shouldn't, even if she's just taking orders behind the counter. (Original) Gute Lage, Kaffee und Kuchen ok. Leider sehr unfreundliche Bedienungen.

(Translated by Google) Fantastic ice cream and even better sorbet! For €1 per ball, the price/performance ratio is extremely good, and the seller is also very friendly. Our future GoTo ice cream shop in Weimar. Unser künftiger GoTo- Eisladen in Weimar.

(Translated by Google) Small, cute café in an alley directly to the market square. Super polite staff and the cake and coffee are just fantastic. Also suitable for vegans. Only recommended!

(Translated by Google) Great homemade cakes and sweets. Everything tasted delicious and the coffee was absolutely delicious too! The friendly owner serves here himself.

(Translated by Google) There isn't. Straight up. I was really happy to go there. And then there was a clothing store for older women. (Original) Gibt's nicht. Straight up.
