Zeitwerk is the pinnacle of fine dining in Harz district. The young team choose an approach which caters experienced fine dining foodies and casual local crowd alike. The menu has a strict focus on local dishes, and sources ingredients from local farmers. Overall, Zeitwerk's offering is excellent and one should be impressed how well they were able to set up this restaurant in an area where fine dining is not (yet) appreciated. There is potential for the team to improve. For instance, the presentation of wine and juice pairings was rather weak. I assume this will change with experience and maybe some inspiration from more settled restaurants. I definitely plan to come back again and see how their journey continues.

The food is so good - my favourite dishes were the pork cheek with pearl barley risotto, the Tote Oma (potato, cabbage and sausage) and the bread course which had some of the most amazing bread I have ever tasted. The servers were very friendly and were very kind to explain all the dishes to me in English as well. Finally, thought that the wine pairing was really interesting - got to taste some very delicious German white wines including some which were made specially for this restaurant.

Bis auf einen Gang und eine kleine Änderung in einem anderen (auf die vor Ort auch umgehend eingegangen wurde), habe ich alles gegessen und fast alles auch sehr gemocht. Man muss sich auf jeden fall drauf einlassen und auch offen sein für Neues. Besonders möchte ich hierbei auch auf das super tolle und sympathische Servicepersonal hinweisen. Fast 3 Stunden haben sie durch den Abend geleitet und auch unterhalten. Großartig! Zum Ambiente noch kurz, mir persönlich war es ein klein wenig zu dunkel im Laufe des abends bzw. fehlte mir auch der Blick nach drausen, da ich gerne mal den Blick abschweifen lasse. Aber ich verstehe auch den Sinn dahinter und das man sich so vollkommen auf das Erlebnis einlassen kann und soll.

Food was worth every penny, service was great. We ate at the Vietnamese side. When seated we were served a small plum wine (?) After ordering we were served a small piece of sushi whilst waiting on our food. I had spring rolls & butterfish pho as entrée both were delicious I was especially suprised by the pho. The soup was a little spicy and a tad sour it was great. As my main dish I had the duck and no complaints it was tender with a little pink in the middle. Highly recommend! One small remark: The vegetarian options are limited. My girlfriend did love it. However didn't a lot of options to choose between. One can pay with EC karte (German debit card) or with cash. One can only tip with cash.

We arrived there with no reservation, and the place was crowded, but the staff was really kind and found a table for us. The restaurant is bigger than it looks, and is very cozy. Great for romantic dinners but also fit for groups as it has big tables too. I was a bit disappointed with the pasta options (only two, basically) so for a Italian restaurant I was expecting more. At the end I decided for a pizza serano and it was very tasty! The price could be a bit lower though.

I came here because of nice opinions, but to be honest, it was very disappointing. The food was... strange. I ordered pizza, gnocchi, bruschetta and pasta with shrimps. Pizza was very thin and hard with tones of onion. Gnocchi was tasteless and pumpkin mousse had hard elements. Bruschetta had a thick piece of mozzarella which dominated the whole dish. Only pasta was good. Descriptions of the dishes in the menu were definitely better than the actual tastes. On the other hand, interior was cosy and friendly.

Reserved a week ago, which they clearly forgot and gave us a random table literally between rock and a hard place. Stuffy food air without ventilation is your ambience which is the best part about this place. After waiting 65min for this overpriced meal to arrive, they brought out soggy gnocchi and an uncut (microscopic traces of avacado) Flammkuchen. I think the trees and roots are previous customers still waiting for their table to be attended. If you have any other options skip this place 😜

Like all these other reviews describe, this place has a great atmosphere, but we waited for more than an hour for our food and we could see the serving staff being stressed AF. So, food is good, but know that you have to wait quite a while before you get any food or drinks served. Also, we asked for a reciept, but that was not possible. Very disappointing!

Lovely meal at this little restaurant. It was obvious that care and attention went into both the food and the service. I had calves liver, which was cooked to perfection. My husband choose the devil's bowl...a piquant dish with some nice heat. He very much enjoyed it. Thoroughly recommend. Probably best to book. We did. We saw several people turned away whilst we were eating.

It is a very, very quiet place as there is no vehicular traffic anywhere near. Occasionally there are sounds of people having fun and laughing outside, which is a really pleasant sound. There is much to see and do within easy reach.

Stayed during a festiniog travel holiday to the Harz mountains railway. In central Wernigerode. Could not fault anything about the hotel a great experience. Breakfast buffet great. Evening meal in restaurant. Good value and good food cost approximately euro 38. Half liter of local beer would happily return.

What can I say. Historic establishment that has been a hotel continuously since the 18th century. No expenses were spared in the renovations as the place is in top shape. The location cannot get better as this hotel is literally on the town square. One point however that I have made in quite a few hotels lately. You install these nice and modern TVs, and then you go ahead and lock them down with sub-par hospitality software. It's 2024 we should be able to cast from our mobile devices to the room TV's with significant ease, or at least use the in-set apps like Netflix to watch something other than Local German TV.

It has always been a fantastic, enjoyable time in this place. The staffs, managements are superb & brilliant! The rooms always gives us such comfortable, very clean. I love the breakfast times everytime. In general, the happiest we've been. It's got a " homely" effect. The best.

Ringhotel is situated in the center of the City Wernigerode. Not far away from all visiting points of interest. I felt very comfortable and well supported, from the first contact by phone till the check-out. I learned know very service-oriented and engaged employee, had a delicious breakfast. All about I enjoyed my stay very much.

While the Wien Cafe presents a feast for the eyes with its beautifully crafted cakes, the experience unfortunately falls short once you take a bite. The presentation is undeniably a highlight—the display case is filled with creations that are works of art, promising a delightful treat. However, the flavors and textures don't live up to their visual appeal. The cakes, while stunning to look at, were surprisingly underwhelming in taste and consistency. It's a shame that such artistry in design isn't matched by the quality of the baking itself.

Where other starred restaurants try to work out that one characteristic of a dish, that one, very narrow aroma, the Pietsch blends aromas over a full spectrum. The starters alone may take you from salty through sour to umami. Wines play an integral part in sometimes complementing a dish, sometimes carrying it further. In the rare cases where an aroma in a dish is isolated, the wine in will extend the spectrum in lower or head notes. In the desserts - very full and not operpoweringly sweet affairs - the wine will be part of the dish itself, an integral ingredient in the overall composition. The very interesting non-alcoholic drinks deserve a special mention. Not just every single dish works, but there is also an overarching concept that reveals itself little by little over the course of the night. Splendid! To top it off, service and presentation are immaculate. Chefs, waiters, and sommelier are more than happy to explain and discuss and have very interesting stories to share. Thus, a night at the Pietsch is not just a culinary, but also a social and intellectual experience. As a Saxony-Anhalt born person, I am glad that Herr Pietsch and his team are fertilizing the culinary desert that my home-state is. Or rather: was. Thank you.

Worst meal: hen of the wood - no mushroom taste, only lot of tempura :/ Could be 2 star: scallop, eel, leek - awesome, pandan, cucumber, rice - be more brave with coriander and remove yuzu. My wife and I recently visited Pietsch for my birthday. We knew going in that we were in for “an interesting modern gastro-concept” (Michelin guide) with 1 menu of 13 Asian-inspired-courses. I chose the wine accompaniment, my wife the non-alcoholic accompaniment (assorted creative fruit and vegetable juices). Of the 13 courses, there were 4 that struck us as particularly exquisite or memorable: * The Unagi, presented as the signature dish, was melt-in-your-mouth tender and perfectly complemented by the “umami” broth and chawanmushi (steamed egg custard). * The Kolenfisch (black cod), marinated for hours, acquired a wonderful taste and texture. The presentation and flavor of the ginger was also noteworthy. * The sous-vide Ei was an explosion of flavors, combining the softness of the egg with the crunch of the potato crumbs and the freshness of the chive-infused oil. * The Pak Choi leaves with kumquat and vanilla for dessert was extremely creative, blending the crunchy bitterness of the vegetable with the sweetness of the green tea ice cream. Several other courses were very good, but missed the mark in one way or another: * A Brioche, admittedly delicious, served with whipped butter and made to appear Asian by the addition of anonymous akamiso and a dusting of edamame powder was unimaginative and did not fit in well with the concept. * Maki made with kimchi. When it did get going, the staff served a small glass of wine and juice with every course, which felt very rushed because all guests were served a given course at the same time. The wines themselves were highly unusual and experimental, but in a similar way: natural, rustic, dry, white (or orange!). There were no red wines served, even though one might have been a good pairing for a course such as the Eringe (king oyster mushroom). As for the non-alcoholic juices, my wife was disappointed by the small quantity served, appearing to be even less than the glasses of wine. The juices combined exotic flavors, such as kimchi with Sauerkirsche (sour cherry), generally giving weird results. Overall, 50€ seemed like a steep price for 6 x 1cl glasses of juice. At the end of the evening, the staff presented me with a miso chocolate cake, a wonderful gesture to celebrate my birthday. The sommelier asked us if we would like to order a digestif and made no mention of additional costs. I chose a grappa while my wife chose a dessert wine. When the bill came, we were surprised to see that the grappa had cost 24€ and the dessert wine had cost 22€. Considering that a digestif is offered for free at many restaurants in Germany, seeing these charges on the already-considerable bill diminished our enthusiasm. Furthermore, we concluded that starting the wines only with the seventh course was an attempt to sell more drinks in the meantime. In conclusion, Pietsch offers a stylish location, wonderful presentation with an intriguing assortment of glasses, plates, and bottles, friendly, above-average service, and a front-seat view of the staff giving detailed descriptions of the courses as they prepare them. Look beyond this spectacular performance, however, and you will notice that the food and drink quality is uneven, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant.

One of the best ways to ruin your holiday. We had a reservation for 19:00 and even before we had parked our car a waitress came out yelling that we could not be there. We tried to explain our reservation but even then she kept on yelling at us. Because our apetite was ruined after her outrage we left without even getting an apology. This Italian restaurant is at the bottom of the hill from the castle and is set in the oldest building in Wernigerode. I would advise making a reservation here, it’s busy! Food ordered was nice but not fantastic. The salmon was lovely but the potatoes were a bit oily and didn’t taste fresh, the vegetables were nice but a little cold. The pizzas were nice but incredibly difficult to cut with a knife and fork, pizza cutters are definitely needed in here! The dough was tough and crispy at the edges but undercooked in the middle. Still all the food was eaten.

Nice Italian restaurant just down the hill from the castle. It is located in an old house and has a classical style inside. I was there with a group of 5 people and the food was good for everybody (from pizza to pasta and stakes). Service was also good so I can recommend this restaurant

What I liked about is this restaurant is the variety of the menu, they have something for everyone. Whether Burgers, Mexican food, German schnitzel or ribs, or just finger food. I was feeling a bit adventurous and therefore decided to order the Philly cheese steak burger, and to my surprise it didn't disappoint. The beef was juicy, topped with tomato and a homemade sauce, I liked it that simple. I didn't like the the quesadilla at all, but my wife though it was okay. For the side, we ordered the pulled pork fries topped with fried onions, and it was a hugeee portion, I couldn't even finish it, which rarely happens. I came across the Bodeblick quite by chance when touring. I was given a wonderful room, spacious and well appointed, with a comfortable bed and good heating. Die Freundlichkeit an der Rezeption ist grundsätzlich vorhanden, jedoch ausbaufähig. So erhält man das eine oder andere mal ein paar patzige Antworten. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist mit Liebe hergerichtet. Mir persönlich fehlte der besondere Touch. Die Qualität reichte von "billig" bis "gut". Anstatt Joghurt gab es fettigen Quark. Als Obst wurden saure, harte Nektarinen angeboten. Die Haselnüsse zum Müsli waren leider überlagert und schon ranzig. Rührei und Croissants sind knapp bemessen. Frei nach dem Motto wer zuerst kommt, mahlt zuerst. Insgesamt war das Frühstück gut.

Today we discovered a very modern and cozy winebar with a small and delicious menu of fresh made pasta and bread with salami and ham. You could notice that the owner put a lot effort into the interior design with it's open brick walls and also into serving the guests in a friendly and thoughtful way. In my perspective there could be a bit of a bigger variety of dishes. I would really like to try out the rooms that are available when I am back for a visit. Those looked very appealing on the website.

Great tasting pizza 🍕- Prices are more on the tourist side. We have been here with 2 parents and 2 kids. Kids pizza is 20cm and was more than enough for our 6 year old daughter. The normal pizza size is 32cm and our 11 year old could not completely eat it. Services was good and we could take it with us. Price was round about 80€ for 4 menues with drinks. So round about 20€ per person which is OK for a restaurant in the center of the city. The ambiente was great. Italien 🇮🇹 style and old italian classical songs. It was good in total.

In summary we felt like typical tourists being ripped off by high prices for very average food.

The atmosphere and the service were amazing! Great terrace and outside sitting, attention to details and care for costumers

The food is amazing, had the calzone, spaghetti and salmon. Nothing to fault. If it wouldn't be so far from where we live, that would be my regular take away

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, baby friendly, resonable prices, we will be back! We went here with our 6 week old baby, after a nice few hours out in Wernigerode, we were feeling tired and hungry and we turned up at this amazing place! We were warmly welcomed, the food and drinks were really delicious (we didn't try the whiskey though), I fed our son without anyone turning their noses up even when he cried a little. The waitress was really lovely and the prices were good too! Despite the restaurant being really full and being told the food would take a while we didn't wait long, about 30 mins for the starter and then another 20 mins for the main course and 10 mins for dessert. We will definitely be back!!

Cash Only, but If you are tired off schnitzel pizza and french fries this may be the place for you. The Bulgarian chef prepared a three course meal for us that was great. He said it was a kind of Bulgarian German fusion. There were delicious cheeses with a marbled bread, something delicious wrapped in cucumber. There's was veal and vegetables in a mushroom sauce, and meatballs that were so much better than normal meatballs. And a very nice custard cake desert. I don't think they ever have a menu of choices, but if you are adventurous, I'm guessing you won't regret trying this place. 2 meals + dessert, + 4 glasses of wine. €80.

Absolutely beautiful. Hidden behind some scaffolding at the moment but definitely worth a visit. Amazing food and wine. Not to be missed

Really nice small Restaurant, no menucard just a explanation by the owner. Never thought that Bulgarian wine tasted this good. But also the food was amazing.

We came upon this little jewel by sheer chance and enjoyed a very nice meal! The owner was so welcoming and looked after us and everyone with such enthusiasm! We highly recommend this cosy restaurant !
