Thillana is a popular restaurant in Thanjavur, offering a diverse range of delicious cuisine. The establishment is well-regarded for its Indian and non-Indian food options, providing a great dining experience with courteous staff and a pleasant ambience. Guests can enjoy generous portions of delectable dishes while being entertained by live Tamil classical musical performances during dinner.
Great food, if you are looking for jain food options it's a great place just inform the chef once you arrive they prepare proper jain food, you might find it a bit expensive but taste is real good.
Rohit S — Google review
Okayish taste, some dishes were salty. What's appalling was to see lack of local delicacies but many of regular North Indian gravies filling the menu. Tandoori roti had many burnt spots, non palatable. Almost no choice of a native dessert, except ilaneer payasam, which wasnt available when we ate. The Vaalaipoo pakoda was good, and glad to see that in the menu. Tad expensive for the taste and service being offered.
Vignesh E — Google review
I stayed in the hotel and had lunch in the restaurent. I ordered chicken fried rice, dragon chicken and crispy prawn. About the good things the chicken fried rice was excellent and the price was worth it. The service was nice too On downside dragon chicken was too oily and it was not crispy as I would have expected. Likewise the piri piri prawn was too oily and did not have any it was bit bland and did not have any piri piri touch to it. The presentation of food was very simple and did not match the high price I paid for and definately require updates to the presentation

The only place offering buffet in Thanjavur. The food quality is moderate and the taste is ok. Price is a bit high. the ambiance is moderate they have a good variety of food on the vegetarian section while the non vegetarian section lacks variety

Very nice restaurant inside the popular Hotel Sangam in Thanjavur. Good food and great service. Special appreciation to Bharathiraja who helped us in the restaurant!

Good restaurant in Thanjavur when it comes to ambience and service. It's more expensive than most other highly rated restaurants in Thanjavur. The food is good, but nothing unique or special, just what you would expect from a typical restaurant. Location is convenient and there is ample parking.
Karthik V — Google review
Great choice of food, both Indian and non-Indian. The food was delicious, good ambience, and courteous staff. The portion served was too big fir one person. They had live Tamil classical musical performers during dinner which was great. Certainly good place to taste food.

Sree Ariya Bhavan is a renowned South Indian restaurant that has been serving authentic vegetarian cuisine since 1964. The restaurant boasts vibrant interiors and offers a diverse menu featuring classic South Indian dishes such as pot paratha, mud pot biryani, soya mutton curry, dosa, soya fish finger, Madurai style parotas, and idiyappams.
Located right next to the bus stop, this iconic vegetarian restaurant in Thanjavur is a must-visit for food lovers. Housed in a charming old building, it proudly showcases its legacy as the city's oldest serving restaurant. The ambience is simple yet welcoming, and the staff are courteous and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. The food here is truly authentic—every dish bursts with traditional South Indian flavor. The mini tiffin is a standout and highly recommended. Dinner offers a wide variety of idli-based items and several other tasty options. While the prices may seem slightly on the higher side, the quality and taste make it worth every penny. One downside is the lack of direct parking, as there is no parking space in front of the restaurant. However, a municipal-operated elevated parking area is conveniently located just 100 meters away. This place offers a genuine taste of tradition in every bite.
Jeevith J — Google review
The ambience is great. However, I could not explore the variety of dishes for which this place is popular, as many of the dishes were unavailable. But I do remember the taste of their signature elaneer halwa, which I tried for the first time here. Absolutely incredible.

Honest detailed review-This is my first time visit to Tanjore and knew nothing about this town. For lunch I searched for restaurants, this was the place in the top. To be honest we didn’t want to go to heart of the town that too near bus stand for a meal. But we decided to give a try. As we thought car parking was not available in the restaurant and street parking was full. But restaurant car parking was available near the bus stand. But we found a spot in the road and parked there. Two separate halls were available for dining. Interiors ambience was nothing out of ordinary. They had a Puratassi Virundhu Meal so we ordered that and South Indian Meals. Both were really very tasty and each item on the meal was prepared well only thing that was not upto the mark was the Keerai kotu,it had some bitterness to it. Puratassi meal was overwhelmingly good. Even my kid who doesn’t like Veg meals had a good lunch. The South Indian Meals is equally good with Sambar, pulikuzhambu, mor kuzhambu, rasam, curd, poriyal, keerai, karacurry, ice cream and appalam and paruppu podi. This restaurant is far far better than the ones that have branches in every town and highway.Service is very friendly and comfortable. Overall a very good tasty dining experience for us. If you can take a detour from highway and have patience for parking then surely visit this place for lunch.
Ram K — Google review
I visited Arya Bhavan in Thanjavur, and I must say the food taste was really good. Every item I tried—from their South Indian meals to snacks—had that authentic flavor and freshness you expect from a quality restaurant. The place is clean, well-maintained, and has a good vibe for both families and solo travelers. Service was decent and polite too. The only thing is that the prices are slightly on the higher side compared to other places nearby. But if you're okay paying a bit more for quality and hygiene, it’s worth it.
Praveen S — Google review
Had a full South Indian veg meal here. They serve dishes famous from different parts of South India. Everything tasted great! 👍if you're super hungry, this place is must try !!

Sree Ariya Bhavan – A Legacy of Authentic Vegetarian Taste in Kumbakonam Sree Ariya Bhavan in Kumbakonam is one of the city's iconic vegetarian restaurants with a legacy that spans over 100 years. Though officially established in 1964, the culinary tradition and recipes they follow are deeply rooted in heritage and authenticity, making it a true gem for food lovers. We had the chance to try various dishes, and every single item was delicious, fresh, and full of authentic South Indian flavor. From soft idlis and crispy dosas to their perfectly spiced rice varieties and wholesome chapathis, the taste speaks for the experience they've gained over generations. The restaurant is clean, well-maintained, and provides a comfortable dining atmosphere. Staff members are courteous, and service is prompt even during peak hours. If you're looking for a place that serves traditional, hygienic, and consistently tasty vegetarian food, this is a highly recommended stop in Kumbakonam. Whether you’re a tourist or local, Sree Ariya Bhavan offers not just a meal but a slice of culinary history. A must-visit spot that continues to maintain its legacy with pride and quality. But it’s costly!!!

Sathars Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Thanjavur, offering a variety of non-vegetarian dishes and biryani. The restaurant is known for its authentic Thanjavur style chicken biryani, which is praised for its delicious taste and settled flavors. However, some customers find the portion size to be insufficient for the price. The restaurant's ambience is pleasant, and it offers paid parking nearby.
Food is good in Taste .Cost is comparatively high for those dishes. Personally I loved their Chicken lollipop.A good spot for family and friends hunger.
Sharvesh G — Google review
I have been dining here for the past 30 years and the taste was the same for nearly 25 years. But for the past 2-3 years, it's not satisfactory. The famous Chilli Chicken is so spicy nowadays. Another popular dish Butter Chicken is not up to the mark now. The restaurant ambience is okay because it needs some refreshing look for the modern days. Have a look at the serving dishes! They are served in stainless steel utensils; looks like they haven't upgraded after 90s. No value for money as the menu prices are not reasonable for the quality of the item served.

This is one Descent Nonveg Restaurant in Tanjore city. Good for family, The briyani and Chicken sidedishes also good, especially we loved the dragon chicken here. The prawn is not that much good. Overall a good experience. There is a paid parking opposite to this.

Good restaurant. Ambience very good. From outside it looks to be small but inside it was very spacious with separate seating area. staffs are very kind. food is good. chicken rice is very good. chicken cooked well. must try restaurant in thanjavur. it walkable distance from old bus stand next Maharaja textiles.
Muthu — Google review
We reached there around 3 pm, and it looked like the staff were in a hurry to wind up the counter, but luckily we managed to place our order and got everything we asked for. The food was really good, no complaints about the taste or quality — in fact, it was worth the money. The only downside was the service. It felt a bit dull and we had to wait for more than an hour before the food was finally served. The place itself was neat and had enough seating, but because of the slow service, it was a little frustrating. Maybe they were short-staffed at that time, not sure. Still, if you have patience, the food makes up for the wait.

Very very bad experience The biryani is very bad and quantity is very low also the taste of it and the price 315 rupees please gays be careful with this restaurant don’t go with your family and friends

I really liked it, friendly staff who tried to help us, a menu in English was available, bottled water as an option, very tasty paneer massala dosa, and the hot sukku milk was lovely too.

Hotel Vasantha Bhavan, centrally located in town, is known for its authentic Tamil Nadu cuisine. The dosas and traditional meals are flavorful. With reasonable price., it’s a reliable choice for those seeking genuine food in a convenient, town-center location.

I didn’t like the way they cleaned. My table was wet when I sat down. I waited for someone to clean it, but no one came. So I asked them to clean the table. The cleaner wiped it with a wiper, but it was still wet. I also saw her placing the wiper on dirty plates in the trolley where she was collecting used dishes. That really upset me. I didn’t say anything because she was elderly. I just moved to another spot and started eating. A waiter came and asked what happened, but the way he spoke wasn’t polite. He was quiet, but his tone felt rude. It was really a good hotel when i was child. I really want that taste and services now!

"Absolutely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The ambiance was completely lacking, and the cashier's behavior was unacceptable. The food was slow, overpriced, and didn't meet expectations. Overall, a terrible experience from start to finish. Wouldn't recommend."

Had lunch with my family, pathetic food. I asked for warm water and was provided with boiling hot water. Ordered curd rice which was very hot as well with absolutely no taste and seasoning. The price of the meals was also a lot compared to what was served. Would not recommended going at all.

1. One of the best restaurant in the town. Easily located from the main road. Just opposite to old bus stand. 2. Parking will be difficult. 3. Food especially tiffin items like idly, dosa, sambar, chutney etc is delicious. Lunch was also good.Three types of chutneys (Coconut, Tomato, Mint) will be served. 4. Meals during lunch time will have good spread of fry, poriyal, kootu, curries, delicious sambar, rasam, mor kulambu, Butter milk etc 5. Howey, service is below average. During lunch time, there is no proper way of allotting the chairs to the customer. The manager at counter told that if you have seat, you go and sit or else get away 6. The AC section is horrible with stinking smell. 7. The mode of payment is only cash. 8. Neatness is above average.

Krishna Bhavan is a popular restaurant with two branches, one on Trichy Road and the other opposite the Big Temple. The food is delicious, offering a wide variety of vegetarian South and North Indian dishes, snacks, and bakery goods. The service is attentive and the entire place is well-maintained with ample parking space. While there may be a wait at times, it's worth it.
Vegetarian restaurant, taste wise ultimately superb and the rate also very affordable price budget friendly hotel for family and friends,Ac dinning also available, serving people also very polite, lunch and breakfast also available there but only vegetarian, icecreams are not good in taste ,otherthan that must try one time ❤️❤️

Total chaos, too less people to serve on a weekend. Over crowded as its near to the temple, has 2 AC halls and a big seating for non AC. Ample car and two wheeler parking facilities. But customer service is a big thumbs down. Food taste is also very average. Better dont try here and there are many better resturants in the same road.

Vinod K — Google review
Nice restaurant with affordable food rates. Arti crafts shops adjacent to this has a nice collections. This is very close to the Tanajavur Brihadheeswara temple and adjacent to the temple parking premises. Quality of the food is also good at reasonable rates.
Seenu — Google review
I went to purchase some refreshments, but unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience with the cashier. I paid Rs. 200 in cash, and in return, she handed me very old and torn currency notes. When I politely requested an exchange—explaining that such notes are often not accepted by other vendors—she raised her voice and responded rudely, insisting I keep them. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable, especially in the service industry, where basic courtesy and professionalism toward customers should be a priority.
Priyanka M — Google review
One of the very worst restaurant with most arrogant staffs, doesn't care about customer needs and minimum requirements. No Table will have salt, or pickle. If u ask for salt they'll say self service. What's the meaning of self service in providing salt. If they keep a small salt pot in tables, who cares Abt there serving.
Gowrisankar B — Google review
A nice restaurant in Thanjavur, the varities are more and the taste is good. The cost is affordable when compared to other big restaurant. It's worth for the price here and the ambience and the atmosphere also okay.
Haridas N — Google review
This place has a nice atmosphere, and the service was good. However, when it comes to the food, it was quite disappointing and far from what I expected.I ordered Aapam, which tasted very sour; the hot and sour soup was more like peppery hot water. The Onion Rava was decent compared to the rest, but the sambar and chutney tasted as though they were spoiled.Considering the prices, the quality and taste of the food were not worth it.I would not recommend this place.

BANANA LEAF A/C RESTAURANT is a great spot to enjoy a variety of meals. The restaurant offers a comfortable dining experience with air conditioning, making it an ideal choice for hot days. The veg meals come with an impressive selection of 8 side dishes, including the delicious podi that pairs perfectly with choodulla choru. For non-vegetarian options, the mutton biryani and crab lollipop are highly recommended.
I had a wonderful lunch experience at Thanjavur Banana Leaf Restaurant. I ordered the non-veg biriyani with a chicken side dish and fish fingers — everything was absolutely delicious! The biriyani was aromatic and perfectly cooked, the chicken was flavorful and tender, and the fish fingers were crispy and fresh. The service was quick, and the staff were courteous and attentive. Overall, a great dining experience with authentic taste and good value for money.
Mr S — Google review
The food at the restaurant was decent overall. The Mutton Biryani was definitely the highlight—absolutely delicious! The naan was good too, soft and fresh. However, the chicken gravy and chicken peratal were just average; the chicken could have been cooked a bit more thoroughly for a better texture. One area that could use improvement is the hand wash area, which wasn’t as well-maintained as I would have liked. It’s an okay spot for a meal, but there’s room for improvement in a few areas.

I went on exact lunch time (1.00PM). Little bit busy at that time. I ordered mutton biryani and fish finger but they told fish finger sold out, then I ordered tandoori chicken. Biryani was super. On 24/10/25, I visited your restaurant with my friends at around 3pm. After being seated, we placed our food order with the server at approximately [20]. However, even after waiting for more than [50 minutes], our food had not been served. Several other tables that arrived after us received their meals before ours. When we inquired with the staff, we were told that the kitchen was busy, but no proper update or apology was provided. The lack of communication and delay in service caused great inconvenience and disappointment, especially as we had children/elderly persons waiting. We expected timely service and better customer handling, but the overall experience was unsatisfactory. Kindly look into this issue and take appropriate steps to improve the service speed and communication with customers in the future.

Cholapuram Non-Veg Dining in Thanjavur is a true haven for those who relish non-vegetarian cuisine. Renowned for its delectable Chola-style dishes, this restaurant has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Diners rave about the exceptional biryani, particularly the basmati variety, which many claim to be one of the best in town.
I would definitely visit again. Taste is very good. I felt salt was little more to my taste, I told them the same and they adjusted it.

I am disappointed with my biryani order. I paid over cost for food that was not worth it. The mutton and fish biryanis both tasted the same and they were too salty. The menu features standout dishes like the bun parotta and chicken tikka, which showcase the restaurant's knack for infusing Indian spices into classic BBQ fare.
Service was excellent, food quality, quantity and taste was very good, prices are very reasonable. It's suitable for family or get together or solo. Very good ambience. Parking one had to take care, on road only.

Had an amazing dining experience! We ordered the chicken clear soup, tandoori chicken, grilled Alfam chicken, chicken parotta, and tandoori roti — every dish was flavorful and perfectly prepared. The hotel stands out for its delicious food and cozy ambiance. The only downside is the limited car parking. Overall, it was a delightful experience

I bought a half grilled chicken from Barbequeen, and it was absolutely disgusting. When I took the first bite, something felt off. So I broke the leg piece bone with my hands, and to my shock, raw blood came out from inside the bone! In the second picture you can clearly see the masala also raw This clearly shows the chicken was not cooked properly, and is unsafe to eat.

Very worst experience. If anyone needs a hairpin briyani, you can visit BARBEQUEEN, Thanjavur. They are not even ready to reduce the bill amount but trying to justify their mistake. The food provided is cold. I will never recommend anyone to this hotel. But if you are ready to risk your life, you are most welcome to this place.

We had a terrible experience, worst hospitality they served a cold briyani, after they re-heated that also we can’t eat that one, then we ordered worst mojito that is zero fizzy, they doesn’t response properly

Very very bad experience. This is not my first time to this restaurant. Seems like they don't want to service the customer who comes single. I ordered for Mutton biryani they wrongly served chicken biryani and everything they making delay. I ordered takeaway along with table order but they missed and made me wait for 30-45 mins. I gave 5 star ⭐ rating on 2022 and now I deleted that review and shared my new experience. Please be people friendly.

Restaurant
Chellammals Manpaanai samayal is a modest vegetarian establishment that specializes in traditional local cuisine, served either on banana leaves or in clay pots. This eatery has gained popularity for its delicious and authentic meals, which are also known for their organic ingredients. It has become a favorite dining spot in Thanjavur, although it can get busy during lunchtime with possible waiting times for both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned seating options.
What a traditional historic place this was. Reminding me of my childhood in my hometown. Food was absolute delicious, staff were very friendly, all of the cooking were made in traditional old efficient style. Would highly recommended this place. I saw lot of foreigners which actually gives you the idea how clean is this place.

Food is taste-wise normal. The Thanjavur special meal has only 8 items and a 200 rs charge; they told me to take individual dishes. It's a scam; each dish is 25 rs so that they can make more money. For 350 Rs, unlimited AC food... Today for me it's a pathetic scam, getting money from common people Service is pathetic.... Don't go...dishes normal taste... 📌 For coming to Thanjavur to explore and trying something new food.. Money is not a problem for me, okay… 25 Rs per item, 15 items – it's around 375. Okay… Then serving sambar, buttermilk, puliyodarai, rasam, etc. Also, an additional amount is to be paid. I clearly asked the serviceman; he suggested whatever you want. Choose sambar and the other, and I will give it. That's why I ordered individually, okay…. So your staff misled me. I just plan to try 200 Thanjavur specials. Tally for me; it's enough… Individually coming and eating, you need to improve your service too… Take care of the customer's needs and ask what they want and what the plan is…. Misleading is happening because your staff give clear instructions to ladies: don't give full meals to customers. If full meals are finished, you just clearly say it's just finished. If you have a plan to finish the rest of the food items, don't dump them on someone's heads. It happened today; just ask your service staff. 📌 Cross check with the CCTV camera While in the hand wash area, I saw an old lady open a packet for cooking with his teeth. There are no scissors to open the packet. Is this the right way? If youbhave any dought pls check camera in the cooking area , it will be between today at 1:45pm and 2:15pm. So totally disappointed today.

I had the pleasure of dining at Chellammal’s Manpaanai Samayal during my recent visit to Thanjavur, and it was a unique and memorable experience. Located about 2 km from the Brihadeeswarar Temple, this place offers a traditional South Indian meal served with a lot of love and care. We opted for the buffet meal, priced at ₹350 per person. The meal was completely vegetarian and served on a banana leaf. What made the experience special was that one lady personally served each dish, explaining the names and ingredients as she placed them — a very warm and traditional touch. All the side dishes were presented in clay pots, which added to the authenticity. There were many varieties of curries, side dishes, rasam, sweets, payasam, and even herbal tea at the end. Everything tasted delicious, especially the leaf-based dishes and the Thinai Payasam, which was my personal favorite. They also offer a regular meal for ₹150, but it includes fewer side dishes and extras are charged separately. Overall, it was a wonderful culinary experience that goes beyond just food — it’s about culture, tradition, and hospitality. A must-try if you’re in Thanjavur!

I was very much intrigued by the theme of the restaurant where it gave feel of eating on mud pot vessels and the wood fire based cooking due to its enhanced rustic taste that it gives. I was not disappointed at all. The service was top notch by the staff there. Even though it was peak time we went, the staff were so cordial. We ordered special meals and regular meals. Boy !! It was so good, lot of options to choose and we had a very tasty and satisfying meals. Do check it out when you come to thanjavur. A small note to owner: I understand it would be tough for you to maintain lot of things with the crowd and stuff, but it would be nice if you smile and be little cordial to your customers. It would elevate your service. Just a suggestion.
Narayana K — Google review
Nice ambience with authentic vegetarian food.. Normal meals also available.. But unlimited meals with more than 30 items is really worth the try.. The chutneys they swerved were mouth watering. All items were tasty and service is best.. They are keeping items in mud pots.. Must try at least ones..
Wonder T — Google review
A must try food experience when you are at Tanjavur. Fabulous vegetarian food, you can dine like a king. All the food is cooked using firewood, curries cooked in pot will give you a authentic village style meal. Have been to their cofounded restaurant at Trichy and this restaurant gave some premium experience as the service staff are very courteous unlike the one in Trichy. You can choose buffet or alacarte both are best in both the worlds but whenever we come here we choose alacarte because you can repeat only the ones you like the most. It is tough to get wide range of curries especially greens and you will get all under one roof! No matter how big restaurant you go, number of poriyals you get there for lunch cannot exceed 2 but here you will have 4 options minimum for a meal! Only con is you will get only meals during lunch time but that’s the speciality of the restaurant. For dinner few varieties of tiffin is available and of-course lot of side dishes to choose from!
Santhosh A — Google review
We opted for the 30-side dish meal, and it was a fantastic experience—one of the highlights of our recent trip to Tamil Nadu. If you're not a local, I highly recommend dining in the AC hall. The staff will serve each side dish in order and explain its significance, making the meal even more enjoyable. The restaurant also offers ample parking along the street, which is convenient since it's not a busy road.
Suneesh A — Google review
A beautiful experience - interesting take on natural methods of cooking & serving; the owner showed his bull driven ghani and smoke free open kitchen; i bought cold pressed oil and it was authentic! The restaurateur went out of his way to deliver food for me at the train station - though it was too early for food delivery! he proved his faith in the saying aditi devo bhava : customer is God!

Nestled in the heart of Thanjavur, Grand Dine Multi Cuisine Restaurant stands out as a premier fine-dining venue that caters to diverse palates with its extensive menu featuring both Indian and Continental dishes. This inviting eatery is perfect for those looking to enjoy a meal with friends or family, thanks to its spacious layout and pleasant ambiance. Guests appreciate the attentive staff who are eager to accommodate special requests, ensuring a personalized dining experience.
A really nice place in Thanjavur to eat. They have many varieties . And the staffs are really patient and fulfill your order. Ambience was neat and nice. You can customize your order. A good place to spend quality time with your friends and family. The only complaint is ....the room spray was too strong that the place smelled more like a lodge than restaurant 😂. It was fine otherwise!!

It seems it’s not a good idea to trust Google reviews recently. The food and service was literally worst. 1. Soup - Average taste. 2. Hot pepper chicken- which was ordered as a starter came as a pepper chicken Semidry and no taste at all. 3. Hyderabadi biriyani- an orange coloured flavourless oily rice with some meat in it. I hope no Hyderabadi visit this place, he may die out of shock. 4. Phulka with butter chicken.- full of sweatness and no butter tasted. In spite of wasting so much money for the interior they should pay enough to get a proper chef. The server guy inside the ac section was on his phone watching videos even if u ask something he might bring if ur lucky. When most of dishes were returned without eating , he didn’t even find anything abnormal. May this is a usual practice for them.

Went here for lunch today. I was surprised by the ambience here. It gave a feeling of the old London that we see in old movies and i liked it very much. But that was the only thing I liked here.I ordered chicken soup, butter naan and malai kofta , which took an astounding 40 minutes to arrive. The chicken soup was okay , the butter naan was too thick and malai kofta was the worst. I have heard my friends say it was good when they were here last year but I wonder what happened now.The panneer kofta was so dry that I choked on it 2 times. Talking about the service, there was no water jug provided for the table and the waitresses come by to refill your glass , but were nowhere to be seen when water was needed (after eating). Also the whole restaurant seemed to have only 1 air conditioner for the entire restaurant, which was inadequate for this summer.I requested the waitresses to switch on the fan , but the request was ignored.I was drenched by the time i finished my lunch.Bill was also provided very late after my meal. Overall a below average experience.

I visited Grand Dine Restaurant in Thanjavur but had to leave immediately. The AC room had a strong unpleasant smell, and the handwashing area was also unhygienic with a bad odor. Because of this, I couldn’t even stay to try the food. Cleanliness is very important in a restaurant, and I hope the management takes this seriously.

We stopped there for lunch. Ordered multiple items. All turned out to be great. The portion size is also good. This restaurant is pocket friendly. The only thing is that there is no proper parking space available.
Gautam P — Google review
Grand Dine in Thanjavur is a classy and comfortable restaurant that offers a fine dining experience without being too heavy on the wallet. I recently had the chance to dine here with family, and it was an enjoyable experience overall – definitely worth 4 stars. The interior is elegant, with a modern yet traditional South Indian touch. The seating is spacious, and the place is kept clean and well-maintained. The soft lighting and comfortable atmosphere made our dinner feel quite special. The menu is impressive, offering a wide range of dishes including South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, and some continental options. We ordered butter naan, paneer butter masala, chicken tikka, and fried rice. Everything tasted delicious, especially the paneer which was soft and flavorful. The spice levels were well-balanced and suited to a wide audience. The service was prompt and polite. The staff was attentive without being intrusive and made sure we were comfortable throughout. One small drawback was the slight delay in bringing out all the dishes together – but it was understandable, as the restaurant was fairly busy during dinner hours. Portions were generous and prices felt fair for the quality and setting. The only suggestion would be to improve dessert variety on the menu. Overall, Grand Dine is a great place for family dinners or casual get-togethers in Thanjavur. With its quality food, neat ambiance, and courteous service, it’s a restaurant I’d gladly return to and recommend.

Sahan Restaurant in Thanjavur is a delightful culinary destination that beautifully blends traditional flavors with modern dining experiences. Known for its standout dishes like the Arabian Mandi Biryani and Al Faham Chicken, this restaurant offers an innovative twist on classic meals. Guests can indulge in their unique Mandi Darbar experience, where large platters of biryani are served in cozy air-conditioned cabins, perfect for small gatherings.
It's one unique restaurant in Thanjavur! Their Arabian Mandi Biryani is must try! It was really great! Also, Al Faham Chicken was awesome! They have an option where they serve mandi briyani in a huge plate. When we opt for this option, we are made to accommodate in separate cabins called Mandi Darbar. It can accommodate a small group and each cabin has its own AC. A half plate mandi briyani can serve 3 people. Their service was really great! The staffs were very friendly and treated us like their family members! We really loved their service. Also, we received soup as complimentary!

Well, the location itself has limited options that serve non-veg so this is perhaps among the decent ones. That said, the service sucks. The night we headed for dinner, it took them 20 minutes to even acknowledge us and another 30 mins for the food to arrive. We had naan and a couple of varieties of chicken dishes, which were okay (nothing great). Then we ordered some chapattis and boy we left most of it there since they were undercooked. Also, the plates were old with full of scratches.. unsure how clean they were. Overall, disappointed.

Dined here on a Saturday afternoon. They just have 2 waiters for a seating of 40-50. Waited for a longer time after ordering the food. We ordered Dragon Chicken, Fish finger, Panner biriyani, Mutton Biryani and chicken Mandi along with Mini Falooda Fish Finger and Panner biriyani was good. Mutton Biryani was below average and the pieces were very hard. Dragon Chicken had lot of carrots than Chicken 😂😂😂 Kids were little upset after hearing that they don't serve Fried rice and Noodles in the afternoon time. They could have added the timings on the menu itself. Overall, Ambience was good but Food was average and service was very slow !

We've ordered Al-faham, but it smelled as if its soaked with prawn, and it was too oil as well. it was quite nauseating to consume that Al-faham with prawn smell. Honey chicken was really good. Briyani was quite dry, but had 2 pieces of meat. Overall, a decent expereince dining at this restaurant.

We ordered 10 pieces of shrimps as a starter and received not more than two small shrimps cut into ten pieces in thick batter. We received basicly fried flour, no taste of shrimps at all. It made us feel ripped off. The main dish was also untasty. Garlic mayonnaise was very tasty but there were a few pieces of evident plastic I found in my mouth coming probably from cutting a plastic bag open. The waiter denied it and said it was a garlic peel without even looking closer at the pieces plastic.

Only the Environment is good. Other than that everything is worse. Waiting time is high and also worst service. I ordered Chicken 65 Biriyani. They brought Chicken Biriyani with just 6 small pieces of 65 over it. Dear Chef kindly Google how to make Chicken 65 Biriyani. Taste is also not good. Dear owner after seeing your reply I am editing my review again. Without knowing who I am and how many members came, how can you blindly bluff about the items we ordered? Check waiting time in CCTV and solve the waiting time issues which will be good for the hotel management. Simply bluffing won't attract any customers in the future.

Situated in the Medical College Road and accessibility is easy. We went for taking lunch. They give half square meal at 50% rate. But it is a popular vegetarian hotel in that Road.

A really nice concept for a BBQ themed food outlet. While it’s a small outlet that can accommodate about 6-8 seating, one can stand here and eat too. Fantastic BBQs for really affordable prices. The Royal Enfield Bullet adds a whole lot of coolness to the BBQ grill. Recommend this shop if you want to have some quick chicken / fish BBQ food. Although the restaurant has relocated from its previous address, visitors can still enjoy their delectable offerings at the new location. Additionally, if you happen to visit the old address, you'll find another excellent dining option called Hotel Ganapathy.
The taste of Sambhar is absolutely the authentic one. Chutney comes close 2nd. The size of Dosai is huge. The service is another level in terms of taking care like your own family will take care. I went here to have some authentic South Indian meals but the meal was not available as it was post 3 so settled up eating some Vadas and they were amazing in taste even though they were served ice cold. The filter coffee was too good and as strong as I requested, very pocket-friendly place it is.

South Indian restaurant
Sri Mangalambika Vilas Coffee Hotel (Since 1914) is a long-standing, Spartan restaurant in Kumbakonam, offering traditional vegetarian specialties served on large leaves. This gem of a restaurant is known for its simple yet tasty and authentic meals, including unlimited lunch options with various curries and beverages. The quaint, age-old establishment has a simple decor and serves food on plantain leaves.
This place is an old-school traditional restaurant right by the temple's sannadi..🙏🏻 This place is like the birthplace (1914) of the legendary Kumbakonam Degree Coffee..! 😲 The degree Coffee is exceptionally delicious, and its taste will surely linger in your memory for a lifetime.. ❤️ The tiffin items were good and had a homely taste.. The service is pretty good, but the place is a bit small.. 👏🏼 I highly recommend visiting this spot for those who appreciate traditional dishes and COFFEE.. 👌🏼

If you're in search of authentic South Indian tiffin and filter coffee in a no-frills, traditional setting, Sri Mangalambika Vilas Coffee Hotel is a gem you shouldn't miss. Nestled in the heart of the city in Sannadi street, this old-style eatery is known for its authentic tiffin items, and of course, strong filter coffee served in traditional tumblers. We visited this shop in the evening for its filter coffee which was really good. My kids had badam milk. Excellent customer by the way. Sri Mangalambika Vilas offers a true taste of Tamil Nadu’s culinary tradition. Don’t expect luxury — come here for authenticity, taste, and heritage.

The coffee here is absolutely fantastic — rich, aromatic, and a true taste of authentic South Indian filter coffee. A must-try for coffee lovers! Along with that, the breakfast items like idli, dosa, and puri are equally delightful — fresh, well-prepared, and full of traditional flavor. A great spot for a satisfying and authentic South Indian meal in Kumbakonam.

Whenever I visit Kumbhakonam for a vacation, one of my top priorities is to indulge in the authentic flavors offered at Sri Mangalambika Vilas Coffee Hotel. This culinary gem has been delighting patrons since 1914. This charming establishment serves as a place to eat and a cherished institution where traditional South Indian cuisine comes to life. I always look forward to savoring their exquisite pongal, a comforting dish made with rice and lentils, seasoned to perfection with a hint of ghee and freshly cracked pepper. The crispy vadas, with their golden-brown exterior and soft, flavorful insides, are irresistible. The luscious coconut chutney complements these dishes, adding a refreshing and aromatic touch and enhancing the overall experience. Of course, no visit would be complete without enjoying a cup of their traditional filter coffee, renowned for its rich, robust flavor and a perfect blend of strength and aroma. Each sip transports me to a place where taste and authenticity merge seamlessly, allowing me to relish centuries of culinary tradition. Dining here is not just about food; it's about experiencing a heritage that has been lovingly preserved over the years.

This hotel offers a truly authentic experience, the best I've ever had! The Pongal was absolutely divine, the Vada perfectly paired, and the Pori was a must-try. Finishing with their Kumbakonam Degree Coffee was the perfect end to a flawless meal. Highly recommend!

Sri Venkataramana Hotel & Residency is a budget hotel in Kumbakonam, offering basic accommodation and serving pure vegetarian Brahmin-style food daily except Sundays. The restaurant provides traditional South Indian dishes on banana leaves, with commendable hospitality even during odd hours. Located conveniently, it's a great spot for breakfast with soft Medu vada and homely Pongal.
During my holiday trip, I visited Kumbakonam and stayed at Sri Venkataramana Residence. It was quite good and very budget-friendly. I took an AC room, and for two adults, the charge was around Rs. 1600. The location is excellent—very close to all the temples we wanted to visit, and we covered them all by walk. No need for autos or any transport. One more highlight is the room service and hotel service is very Good. They are very polite, and their way of receiving and serving guests is truly commendable. Coming to the food, it was really nice. The same owner runs a hotel right next to the residence. We had lunch, dinner, and breakfast there—it was awesome.

I had taken food in this restaurant for more than three decades. A very old joint to have traditional South Indian tiffin coffee and meals. They have both AC and non AC place to have food. Best item wheat halwa which is always in demand many times will not be available and gets exhausted. They make only limited quantity only to keep the hype

Absolutely fantastic spot for authentic Indian cuisine! The flavors are rich and truly reminiscent of traditional recipes. The hot Rava Dosa is a standout — crispy, flavorful, and unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. Some of their specialties are truly one of a kind. And the Venkataramana coffee? It’s in a league of its own — comforting, aromatic, and unforgettable. It has a special place in my heart ❤️

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making my stay very pleasant. The authentic South Indian food was absolutely delicious and felt like a true home-cooked meal. A special mention to the Owner(CEO), who is incredibly polite, humble, and welcoming. He personally ensured that guests felt comfortable and well taken care of, which made the experience even more special. I’m grateful to my friend for recommending this hotel and would highly recommend Hotel Gnanam to anyone looking for excellent hospitality and a memorable stay.

The location of this hotel is excellent! The temple is very near and so are many restaurants. The hotel and the rooms were clean and maintained well. However, the floor of the room was super dusty and even after asking them to come and mop it, they cleaned it for under a minute and the floor stayed dusty. The breakfast was very good and there was a good spread as well, with fruits and all. The beds were super firm and comfortable. There was also a balcony with our room. The only problem is that it was quite noisy being in the middle of the market, also there was some generator going on in the adjacent building till late in the night - I did not mind it (being so tired from all the travel) but my husband could not sleep well because of it.

had the worst experience with the receptionist at this hotel. From the very beginning, the attitude was unwelcoming and unhelpful, which really set a negative tone for my stay. Instead of feeling like a valued guest, I felt dismissed and ignored. Hospitality should begin at the front desk, and unfortunately, this hotel failed in that regard. I hope the management addresses this issue, as it ruins what could otherwise be a decent experience.

Worst experience in a hotel in our travel time, we never had to give a bad feedback for any of the problems that hotel has . We have to advise to all travellers coming in here that you Will pay here for 24hours service ,we arrived at the hotel at 6.30 am NOT requesting the room availability, and as everywhere you go in any hotel in the world is their discretion to give the room earlier then their check in time (12pm), they said the room was already ready and we happily enter the room at 6.30 am , NOBODY advise us that the service was for 24 hours from the time of entering the room . Well.. at 6.20 am next day we received a call from reception saying that we have to leave otherwise Will be late checkout fee to pay , as for out booking was at 12 pm ! NOBODY asked them to have the room at 6.30 am is always as THEIR DISCRETION and nobody told us of this absurdity otherwise we would never accept the room that early! The man at the reception was no clear at all and no helpful in this situation, without giving his name also ,to be able to place a complain to his supervisor! Also we had breakfast included but not be able to use It of course cause the very early check out! Also included there Is wifi in your price but It didnt work at all!! All this situation It Is a great scam and not in favour of the customer and no helpful at all , careful also to go out of your room later then check out because the room Will not open anymore with all your staff ,luggage ,phones and Money in It! Really really bad experience ,Hope this Will help next travellers to not fall for this SCAM!

Rice n Spice is a multi-cuisine restaurant that offers a menu featuring Indian and Chinese dishes in a simple setting. It is considered one of the best vegetarian restaurants in town, alongside several others. The place is known for its neatness, good hygiene, and availability of both South and North Indian dishes, including Jain preparations. While the food is tasty and the service fast, parking can be challenging as there's no dedicated parking area.

Annalakshmi Restaurant, nestled within the Quality Inn, offers a delightful blend of modern and traditional aesthetics with its Chettinad-inspired decor. The ambiance is vibrant and inviting, making it an appealing spot for dining. While the food is undeniably delicious—especially their homemade Rose Milk—the service can be a bit slow at times, particularly during busy events. Guests have noted that preparation times may exceed expectations due to staffing issues; however, the flavors more than compensate for any delays.
Recently visited Annalakshmi hotel, Ordered 1. Mutton Mughal Biriyani (₹365) - it was awesome, Topnotch. But they added fried egg in Biriyani, that's the only minus thing. I don't like fried egg with biriyani. They should have added Boiled egg instead. 2. Garlic Naan(₹90) and Kadai Paneer(₹265) - Nice 3. On 6th March 2025, i visited at 6.45pm for dinner. I requested for Iddiyappam and was told kitchen was not ready. We requested Iddiyappam. We also ordered Onion pagoda and coffee. Half hour later, i was told by waiter that Iddiyappam was not available today. Customers must be told immediately what was not avaliable. I requested the resturant manager to give feedback. It took long for Manager to approach me for feedback. Disappointed on the Service and Pagoda was disaster. Pagoda was over fried. Looks like the quality of food and service inconsistent. On 2nd March 2025, I ordered Szechuan chicken noodles. I would rate as 5 star flavour and quality. Chef Mahindran preparation was excellent. Waiter Prabaharan was fluent in English and polite. The best noodles at Kumbakonnam. All staff were attentive, and the service was good.

I went to this restaurant 🥘🍲 a while ago. The atmosphere is nice and vibrant. The staff are very nice to the customers. When we went, there was an event upstairs so the time taken⏳⏰ for food to arrive was more than 30 minutes. But I must say the food 🥗🍛is top notch and is very good! But when I had it as takeaway, I'd say it isn't so good. One thing I'd recommend is to try the Rose Milk 🥛🌹 as they make it from scratch and its so tasty! Overall, its a good restaurant one of my all time favourites! Definetely will recommend.

Thevar's Biriyaani is a renowned non-vegetarian restaurant that has been a staple in its location for over 30 years. While the taste of the food was once described as irresistible, some visitors have noted a decline in quality over time. However, others still highly recommend it and praise dishes such as the Mutton Biryani and Chicken Biryani for their tender meat and home-style flavors.
Food was super good. Briyani and mutton pieces were so tender and soft. After briyani they providing some complimentary rice for rasam and buttermilk. Service person take care of us like a family member. Loved the place ❤️

I visited Thevar Biriyani after seeing it listed among the best restaurants in Thanjavur on Google. Honestly, the experience was average. The biriyani was decent in quantity but nothing extraordinary in taste, and the fish I ordered alongside was also just okay. It’s not the best biriyani I’ve had, but it works as a convenient stop for a meal if you’re passing through.

During my last visit to Tanjore, my relative suggested this Thevars biryani hotel which is a famous place for non veg items in Tanjore. We had both Mutton and chicken biryani - Mutton biryani was priced around 220rs.the Mutton pieces were tender and well cooked. This seeraga samba Biryani had mild aroma with a home style taste. And Quantity provided for more than sufficient for a person. When I posted about the same in my YouTube community page, most people agreed with me, but there were few who argued that this restaurant lost its old taste. Anyways if you are in Tanjore, do try their biryani They have both Ac and non ac seating - and it's suited for families too. There is a paid govt parking space just opposite to restaurant, so no worries about parking your car

Don't try here First of all understand that biriyani would be more taste when it was made up of basmathi rice(biriyani rice). But here they are making seeraga samba rice Even Though it was traditionally made it would not taste that much. Their cost was high its 180Rs not even worth for it. So better go for thoppi vaapa or anyother biriyani hotel Their interior was not good Their toilet was not good Their taste was also not good But they are giving white rice after biriyani Only for rasam and thayir That thayir is worthy So better dont go here guys I went here on jan 2022

We were recommended this place, but I wouldn't recommend. It may be OK for a quick functional economical lunch, but if one is looking for good food and good experience, this is not the one. Bare minimum items, service is pathetic. Waiters fighting with each other. They don't bother to tell what items are available or if you need anything. No wash rooms ... Very very baisc

First to note, there’s 2 branches of same brand very nearby and with same menu. I visited the one with AC and was super satisfied with filter coffee. Enjoyed the rich aromatic coffee served in traditional dabara during my short visit to Kumbakonam. Was tempted to have the pickle placed in table, so ordered papad to have along with it. Veg meals, though I didn’t have, did smell good and the service was great.

The hotel and staff were good and the rooms were big, clean and spacious but getting extra bedsheets was an issue apart from that the food is also pretty good. The only problem with food service is that it's very scheduled so if you're a tourist then there is a high chance of you missing food

Junior Kuppanna is a South Indian restaurant known for its delicious food, including Bheja fry, Nalli, Chicken fry, biriyanis, and various gravy and dry fry options. It's the best you can have. As a North Indian, my review for this South Indian restaurant, is delicious in one word!. You can really enjoy, chicken, mutton biriyani with various gravy and dry fry options. In mutton you can also have the leg bones (Nali mutton gravy). You can definitely try your appetite to satisfy your drought full feeling of eating non-veg. Fish also available here. If you are having a expandable nonveg option, apparently you can satisfy your stomach and enjoy your lunch or dinner. The hotness of the spices is tolerable or you can customize according to your taste. Better go with medium hotness ( wrt chilli). I recommend you can surely try, and hope you enjoy the food. Location: just on the Trichy Tanjore highway. Traffic free, away from city, so it's best option for a long drive travellers to have a meal on the way. #Happy_eating #Happy_outing #Keep_travelling #Keep_enjoying #Namaste #Thanks

We went here with my family on the way to velankanni. We felt the food could have been far better. It costed us 2200 for six people. However the food was not as expected. Mutton omelette and Kola urunda is a must try.

I loved loved loved the Biriyani here! I'm not from around, and for me this was the perfect dish of the day! The Fish was fresh and oiled as the dish suggested. The Prawn Manchurian was fresh and delicious. The Tandoori was not all great but okay. The Ambience was a bit too noisy for me but the service was good. The staff was friendly who explained to me all about the Chettinad Cuisine. The value for money was really good. Worth the price! I would say for me the pit stop after a long drive from Nagpatnam definitely made me smile.

Horrible experience, went after a tiring trip from Velankani. We wanted to eat meals and had a long journey ahead to Bangalore. Ordered non veg meals which doesn’t have any non veg other than a cm long piece of fish. Mutton curry which had a piece normally we throw away. (Pic attached). Waiter kept asking for side dish around 6 times as if you don’t take you are not worth enough to eat there. Had a horrible experience and wouldn’t recommend anyone looking to eat with dignity. I normally don’t fuss around food but this I had to report.

Adyar Ananda Bhavan - A2B is a popular vegetarian restaurant chain with a well-established presence. Located near Chennai Silks on Trichy road in Thanjavur, the restaurant offers a wide and visible space with attractive lighting. The ambience is clean, neat, and hygienic, providing ample parking to the front and side of the restaurant.
A2B in Thanjavur offers decent **South Indian vegetarian food** with a familiar menu of dosas, meals, sweets, and snacks. It’s a **clean and convenient stop**, especially for travelers. Prices are moderate, and parking is usually available. --- ## 🍽️ Food Quality * **Popular dishes**: Meals, biryani, chappati, paneer curry, sweets like Mysore Pak. * Taste is **okay to good**, but **not very consistent**. * Quantity is generous, but not always worth the price. --- ## ⚠️ Downsides * **Hygiene concerns**: Some users reported insects in the sweet counter. * **Service issues**: Slow response, delay in serving rice, and occasional billing errors. * Shared washrooms are **not well maintained**. --- ## ✅ Verdict A2B Thanjavur is fine for a **quick, familiar vegetarian meal**, but service and hygiene can be hit-or-miss. Stick to fresh, hot items and double-check orders.

The place was spotless, and the staff went above and beyond to make our meal enjoyable. Plus, ample parking makes it hassle-free for travelers. Highly recommended for anyone passing by! The ambience is described as small but comfortable and the establishment offers clean facilities with ample parking including security.
Easily the best food I had in Kumbakonam. The parotta was very flaky and soft. The chicken handi was out of the world. Butter cheese tandoori chicken was also good along with the mayo which was delicious. A must try here is their handi chicken and parotta.

A good restaurant compared to its peers in the region. The ambience was good and the food was good too. The service could have been better as the thing we ask for either takes many requests or many minutes to arrive, it's the case even for a few tissues and the accompaniments. A good place to visit if you are looking to have a nice dinner with your family in Kumbakonam. I found the price to be fair for their offerings when compared to similar restaurants in other places.

I’ve ordered Paneer Biryani from Swiggy more than eight times, but only twice it was good. Most of the time, it’s overly spicy, lacks salt, and is too oily. Dear Biryani Master, please taste the food before serving it to customers. We are paying for it, and we expect good quality—it’s not given for free.

Sathars Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic and delicious South Indian and North Indian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the inviting and cozy ambiance makes you feel right at home, setting the perfect stage for a memorable meal. The food is the star of the show. We tried a few of their highly-praised dishes, and they did not disappoint. The Mutton Biryani was a standout—perfectly cooked, with tender mutton pieces and a rich, aromatic flavor that was both comforting and exciting. Another favorite was the Parotta, which was incredibly soft and flaky, pairing perfectly with the Chicken Handi. The flavors were bold, well-balanced, and clearly prepared with care. Beyond the fantastic food, the service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you receive, making it an excellent value.

Habibi Restaurant is a highly praised establishment that may not have gained widespread recognition. The biryani, particularly the mutton variety, is exceptional with its delicate and flavorful masala seasoning. Additionally, their BBQ chicken is incredibly delicious. Habibi Restaurant competes strongly with Alif in terms of taste and quality, yet remains reasonably priced. This eatery guarantees a satisfying dining experience by offering top-notch quality at affordable prices.
It's one of the bestest restaurants. But not identified that much...I tasted more than 4 to 5 times..the briyani is will awesome with light masala stuff..my favorite is mutton briyani and BBQ chicken which is soo good..it is a pure competitor to Alif..the taste and quality is so good..budget is not that costly...it is quality level to expectation...you will find good quality with super taste and best of price in the town...located in centre of the town...definitely a must try in the town..if u a briyani love definitely try it...and the main us brinjal curry🤤🤤🤤🤤no need extra starters..definitely try it once

Worst biryani i ever had in life. No its not even biryani, just pongal with chilli powder. Before 5 yrs, I used to eat here every month after salary. The taste used to be ultimate. But i dont know what happend, they compromised on quality. When i went today (the day before diwali) it was fully crowded. just to earn extra, looks like they prepared in hurry and provided tasteless food. This has to be my last visit to this place. 🙏🏽 and their dalcha was just rasam with salt. No taste. Ordered 2 biryani and just left half of the biryani. Disappointed.

Great experience as a foodie... yummy with Quail Pepper Masala... Chicken 65 disgusting with a different aroma... Rest everything good especially Mutton Biryani...

It was really awesome. There are enough tables to sit. It is a great place to enjoy a tasty meal with your friends or family members. The foods are awesome. There are both veg and non-veg dishes. Serving is great. The restaurant has many air conditioners. The dishes and foods would be little bit expensive but, still they are worth buying it.

#Foodonroad Dawood biryani (Tanjore) Price : ₹800 The taste is really unique 👌 (ps : not everyone would love it ) I could feel they really got the taste close to perfect. Thr rice is so soft, textured and well cooked ❤️ and it tasted good along with the chicken piece . The only issue is after the chicken is over , it is really hard to have plain rice 🙄 it tastes kinda sweet . They also provide a bowl of extra rice after finishing this 😮 5 ppl can eat adequately (Ordered Chicken BBQ but it had a foul smell on it so had to cancel that )

We visited today and ordered for 1 fish tikka, 1 full tandoori chicken, 1 paneer tikka, 1 paneer manchurian parcel. The manager given us the rate list as: Paneer tikka: 160 Paneer manchurian: 140 Tandoori chicken: 360 Fish tikka: 180 But he charged 380 fr tandoori chicken 220 fr fish tikka & rest same as rate list The quantity & quality was below par Especially Fish tikka was only 6 very very small pieces that too bad in taste, hardly ₹ 50 worth. Very worse quality restaurant. Please never visit them.

Tastes good! But staff should learn how to be helpful for PRMD (Partially Reduced Mobility or Disability) people. Today I've visited and no one has come forwarded to help my mom while exiting out of the restaurant though the staff were busy watching TV. I was holding bags and other stuff but somehow I managed to open the door by myself. Dear MD of Dawood Biriyani hope you'd take into consideration.

Tried chilly paratta and sola puri yesterday, unfortunately it didnt go well with my body. Should check the hygiene practices in this hotel. Even saambar was cold for dosa we ordered. So rating it 1 star. P.s: im sure the reason for my sickness is this hotel food as i had only home food yesterday and even while eating the hotel food i sensed something not good.

Excellent hotel with a good atmosphere. Located on the main road . Pure vegetarian Food available with excellent quality and taste with a reasonable price. Inside the hotel sealing is covered by all seven chakras related to the energy points of our human body . This is very very interesting. I am visiting these hotels continuously for three days. I had taken idly , Vada, rava dosa , masala dosa and chapati. Chapati has a very good taste with two curries and curd raitha. Raitha made pure curd , onions with keera , taste is the next level . Must try. Finally taken a cup of filter coffee. Food lovers must visit.

Aasife Biriyani in Thanjavur is a must-visit for those seeking an exceptional dining experience. The restaurant offers great hospitality, maintaining high standards of food quality and taste. The staff's grooming and kindness towards guests add to the overall appeal. The Mughal chicken biryani and chicken 65 are highly recommended dishes, with the latter described as "little bombs of buttery, yeasty goodness.
I've heard of this place that they have a great biriyani! But then when I went here and tried it, it was exactly what I heard of.. the quantity was more than enough to make your stomach the fullest and the taste was enough to satisfy your taste buds.... Will suggest you this place for sure for a biriyani.. The grill was not any less in taste...
Gladson R — Google review
Editing my Review: The place has become THE WORST . VERY VERY POOR AND DEAD SLOW SERVICE. OILY . SO MUCH OF RUBBISH. I ASKED FOR MUTTON CHUKKA AND PRAWNS FRY. THEY SERVED PRAWN BHURJI AND MUTTTON BHURJI. SAME MASALA. IT WAS HORRIBLE. BIRYANI WAS NOT AT ALL GOOD. AND IN THE END,I ASKED THEM TO PACK "CHETTINADU MUTTON MASALA" THEY HAD PACKED CHETTINADU CHICKEN MASALA AND I HAD PAID FOR CHETTINADU MUTTON MASALA. SUCH PATHETIC SERVICE. SIMPLY NOT WORTH THE COST. THE PLACE HAS LOST IT'S STANDARDS. DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. Personal Favourite : CHICKEN BIRYANI Authentic SOUTH INDIAN FOOD. The World's Best Biryani? Maybe. Hotel Easily connected with bus from Thanjavur New bus stand. Usually Crowded during the weekends and holidays. Advance reservations recommended. I went without Reservation and had to wait for half and hour. The biryani here they provide is fantastic. You don't get to see the Basmati Rice Biryani in Town areas. Started with cream of chicken soup. Decent. It was a little watery. The texture of the soup was below par. Ordered chicken Biryani. The chicken pieces are of both average quality and taste. Improvements can be made. But the biryani overshadowed it. The Brinjal Curry was very yummy. RAITHA was okay. Fish fry was well prepared. The masala was evenly marinated . It was tasty. Chettinad chicken curry was SUPERB. The combination of parotta and Chicken curry was sooo delightful to eat. Summing it Up, A must visit place for non veg lovers. Moderate pricing. There's lot more to try. Highly Recommended for Biryani lovers.

Doesn't provide authentic biryani. Biryani here is rice cooked with chicken. Kind of pulav. taste wise it is okay, but not worth of spending money. Please be noted waiter here doesn't serve food, always we have to ask him to serve. Waiter are very arrogant.
Prashant B — Google review
We ordered the mughal chicken biryani and two medium chicken 65 pieces The chicken 65 were little bombs of buttery, yeasty goodness, and the chicken was robust but not overpowering. When our biryani arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded. The chicken was crisp, flavorful, and chewy. The toppings worked together beautifully. The taste was great. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit.

Overall a good restaurant in the Kumbakonam area to grab a quick bite. Food and service is above medium. They offer a wide range of South Indian cuisine, with a breakfast buffet available.

The hotel atmosphere is really great. Also the interior is so beautiful. Both the restaurant and the hotel rooms are attached to same building. When it comes to food the taste is good not the best. Many dishes the taste will be same. Only the name of the dish changes. The taste remains the same. And the menu items are little limited. There are not so many options. During afternoon, for lunch the meals will be offered only in buffet system. Also for this you need to go to 3rd floor. So it has been separated for each kind of food.

Went to Moshika Bhavan to have dinner after hearing a lot of hype abt their tasty food. Comparing to other restaurants in town, it is priced high but not bad food. No value for money, only for some items. Paneer Tikka was good. I ordered a starter Mushroom Pepper dry fry, it was pathetic. After 22 minutes of ordering, they brought something with watery gravy !! I haven’t seen such a starter in my life ! Mushroom Dry pepper fry is superb in Balaji Bhavan. Gobi Chettinad was also not that great, just ok. Average per head Rs.300, but not that great. Definitely a good hotel in town. Not that great up to the pricing. Service is not bad. But got delay in many things.

Very nice ambience. Certainly anyone can consider to go with family. Certain things needs to be improved. Many of the items in menu not available at 1.45. Very few options. Non veg with very less spice won't go well with any south Indian. Spice is to the level we can feed to toddler. Meals not having sambar and veg subji . Tanjore rasam far below expectation. Briyani is very nice. Again can add little spice but still very good. Fish podi mass is good. Fish gravy is pathetic. Must improve serving speed for meals. Waiting to get next course of rice is very bad. Still a place to enjoy your non veg.

After trying various pizza places like Dominos, Pizza Hut, 99 Pizza Dubai, Wood Crust Pizza Qatar, Las Vegas Pizza, and French Pizzas for the first time in Kumbakonam, they discovered their love for Shamby's. With its remarkable flavor and reasonable prices on Wednesdays, it is an attractive and affordable option for large families.

The ambiance was cozy, and the cleanliness was top-notch. It's a great spot for anyone looking to have a relaxing and enjoyable time. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting! Looking forward to coming back again soon.

I visited Kumbakonam for the first time and found the food generally overpriced and of low quality. Today, we decided to try Shamby’s based on its Google rating, unsure if it would live up to the hype, but it was truly excellent. The person taking our order was very courteous, and although I don’t usually tip, I gave him one. The menu was simple and easy to understand. The ambiance was pleasant and straightforward. The food quality was outstanding. As a lifelong Domino’s fan, I found Shamby’s to be even better. The service was fast. In my opinion, the combination of great food, quick service, and a fully vegetarian menu is perfect.
