Ashram

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a serene and expansive spiritual community that welcomes day visitors to partake in meditation and yoga practices. The ashram's lush green gardens and tranquil pathways create a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal setting for couples to immerse themselves in its calming ambiance. The colonial-style architecture and vibrant flora add to the visual appeal, providing a picturesque backdrop for activities such as pre-wedding photoshoots.
Sri Aurobindo Ashram is truly a haven of serenity and calmness in the heart of Pondicherry. The moment you step inside, the bustle of the city fades away and you’re surrounded by an atmosphere of peace, silence, and reflection. The Samadhi of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother is the soul of the Ashram, beautifully adorned with flowers, inviting visitors to sit quietly and soak in the stillness. What I loved most was the discipline of silence maintained by everyone—it creates such a rare and powerful environment for inner calm. The greenery, the neat surroundings, and the gentle energy of the space make it feel like time slows down here. The small bookshop inside is also worth a visit, with an excellent collection of spiritual works that reflect the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Overall, this Ashram is not just a tourist spot—it’s an experience. If you are in Pondicherry, a visit here is an absolute must for anyone seeking peace, self-reflection, or simply a quiet escape. 🌿✨
Rithanya C — Google review
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I visited the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not your typical tourist spot it’s quiet, no photography allowed, and very respectful. I learned a lot about Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. The bookshop nearby has some great spiritual and philosophical reads. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re curious about Indian spirituality or just want a break from the beach crowd.
Ravimaran — Google review
Visited on 28th October 2025 From the moment I reached at the premises, I felt a gentle calm settling over me. Even the smallest sounds seemed softer, like the place itself was asking for attention and respect. As I walked toward the Mother’s Samadhi, I found myself naturally slowing down, noticing the care in every corner and the quiet dignity of the surroundings. It didn’t feel like a place to just see; it felt like a place to experience The staff greeted visitors with quiet courtesy, gently guiding us about shoes, mobile phones, and maintaining silence. It felt respectful rather than formal, like they were helping everyone feel part of the same shared reverence. Sitting by the Samadhi, I felt a profound stillness and inner quiet that is hard to describe. There was a deep sense of gratitude, reflection, and peace, as if the presence of the Mother and Shri Aurobindo was in the air around me. Every detail around me, the flowers, the pathways, the simple yet immaculate surroundings, spoke of devotion and love. Leaving the ashram, I felt a subtle shift within me, a quiet reminder to live with mindfulness, humility, and calm. Visiting the Mother’s Samadhi is not just a visit; it is a transformative experience. Anyone seeking peace, reflection, or a connection to something timeless must make this visit.
Krishnakumar P — Google review
Good to visit to see the Samadhi and come out in a few minutes. As seen in other reviews, the staff is very rude. There is a bookstore towards the exit. I switched on my phone to pay for the books, and picked a call which was urgent of my family, the staff gave me a lecture that had the management seen they would have taken my phone for 2 hours. What kind of kiddish behaviour is this? How do we pay for the books if not cash.
Mridula B — Google review
You have to leave your shoes across the street before entering and walk barefoot inside. The ashram is filled with beautiful flowers and a sense of calm. It’s a strictly quiet space — no talking, and phones must be turned off (there are volunteers who ensure this). There is no entry fee. The path inside is short — it takes about five minutes to walk around — but there’s a small meditation area where you can sit peacefully if you wish. The highlight for us was the library. It has a wonderful collection of books (available in many languages), including thin volumes written by The Mother from her 21-part series on yoga and life (inexpensive- INR 30 a book). They also sell lovely postcards and books made by people at the ashram — perfect as souvenirs. Overall, a serene experience — simple, quiet, and meaningful, especially if you appreciate spirituality or literature.
Fatema R — Google review
Very calm and serene place. The place closes by 6 but the samadhi is open for public till much later. Phones to be turned off while entering. Babies not allowed.
Varun B — Google review
Well maintained silence in this place, something we don’t get to experience much in this busy city. The bookstore was closed which was a bummer. Hope to visit the bookstore next time. The shoes have to be left on the opposite side of the road, no babies are allowed as silence has to be followed.

Don't miss this place if you are a first time visitor to Pondicherry (Puducherry). I first came here in 1985 on our excursion trip during my last year in school at Chennai and have been here several times afterwards and having lived in Pondicherry for about 1.5 years I visited the Ashram whenever I felt like it and the feeling of peace and tranquility remains the same. The very fact that Aurobindo and later, The Mother, Aurobindo's most trusted and closest disciple made Pondy their home clearly indicates the sacredness of Pondicherry. Aurobindo and The Mother's Samadhi (final resting place) is within the compounds. Both of them resided here (The Mother lived for a longer time than Aurobindo) and contributed much to the spiritual needs of the locals and visitors via books and discourses and holy Darshan. There are holy days observed here of which November 24'th is one where the rooms of The Mother or Aurobindo (whichever appropriate to the holy day) are thrown open to the public. It is good to be here early as there are very long queues on these days. Luckily for November the weather is perfect as it is the much cooler part of the year. The Ashram itself is not very huge though a lot of the adjoining land and buildings belong to the The Ashram. The area and roads around the Ashram are a delight to walk through, with the beach not very far. Small children aren't allowed and the inside of the Ashram is maintained very neatly. You can pray at the Samadhi and then sit in silent meditation or prayer around the Samadhi, as is custom to visitors to the place. The peace is something very beautiful here. After this you can visit the bookstore and gift sections of the building where you can buy a number of books written by Aurobindo and The Mother in a variety of Indian and Foreign languages. However the real deal is the bookstore called Sabda, the principal printing press of The Ashram, located on the same street at a walkable distance from the Ashram. Bang opposite Sabda is located the shop from where you can buy a number of Auroville and The Ashram's products and produce such as Incense sticks, fragrant oils etc., The Manakula Vinayakar Temple with its elephant (brought at 4:00 PM) is popular with foreign tourists and is located very close to the Ashram. You could pay the temple a visit too. It rated Pondy's No.1 attraction.

Promenade Beach is a popular rocky shoreline in an urban area, featuring a promenade, war memorial, and nearby park. It spans 1,500 meters and is a major attraction for both locals and tourists. The beach is located near several notable landmarks including the Mahatma Gandhi statue, Monsieur Dupleix statue, New pier, War memorials, and the Puducherry port.
Today visited this beach in the afternoon. We walked from Mothers ashram till Bakers street shop. Dark blue color waters welcomed me. With monsoon to set soon the beach looked calm and composed. Boats were doing trials on this beach. With rocks on both sides, enough space to walk, get down and touch the sea waters this beach is mesmerising. Afternoon with not much harsh sweaty sun, the whole beach looked glittering amidst blue sky and dark clouds. This is my first afternoon time visit to the beach. The promenade is indeed beautiful with coconut trees swaying in breeze. Lighthouse, crafty bazaar, Pondicherry museum, art museum and park are places around to visit. There is a lactation room spot in this beach. Travellers don’t miss visiting this beach when you travel to Pondicherry.
Radhika N — Google review
Promenade Beach, also known as Rock Beach, is one of the most famous attractions in Pondicherry, stretching for about 1.2 kilometers along the Bay of Bengal. It is a lively coastal spot where tourists and locals gather to enjoy the cool sea breeze, morning walks, and evening strolls. The beach is lined with several historic landmarks such as the French War Memorial, Mahatma Gandhi statue, and the Old Lighthouse, reflecting the town’s French colonial heritage. Vehicles are restricted in the promenade stretch during certain hours, making it peaceful and ideal for relaxation. Unlike sandy beaches, Promenade Beach is mostly rocky, offering a unique scenic charm with waves splashing against the stones. It is not suitable for swimming, but it’s a perfect place for photography, leisure, and experiencing the vibrant culture of Pondicherry. The beach is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, attracting visitors for its serene and picturesque views.
Cloud R — Google review
Promenade Beach is pure serenity with a touch of French charm. The waves are strong and thrilling, perfect for adventure. A visit to Le Café by the beach completes the experience with great food and sea breeze vibes. Don’t miss the majestic Mahatma Gandhi statue, crafted in 1965, and the Aux Combattants des Indes Françaises memorial, honoring French Indian soldiers — a true tribute to valor and sacrifice.
Robin T — Google review
Best place to feel the real vibe of Pondicherry 🌊✨ There are plenty of cafés and heritage buildings around — the Old Lighthouse, Mahatma Gandhi statue, and French War Memorial. Visit around sunrise or sunset for the best experience. Perfect for place for taking photographs.
Akshay R — Google review
There’s something truly timeless about Promenade Beach, also called Rock Beach — a place where the sea, the city, and centuries of history meet in perfect harmony. 🌊✨ I arrived just before sunrise, and the scene felt straight out of a painting — golden sunlight over the Bay of Bengal, the roar of the waves crashing on black rocks, and the gentle hum of people walking, meditating, or just soaking in the peace. Unlike most beaches, there’s no sand here, only a long stone walkway that adds a unique charm — every step feels like a stroll through Pondicherry’s soul. The Gandhi Statue, French War Memorial, and the Old Lighthouse stand proudly along the promenade, whispering stories from the French colonial era. The air smells of sea salt and freshly baked croissants from nearby cafés — a perfect mix of Indian warmth and French elegance. 🇮🇳🇫🇷 Evenings are magical — the entire stretch glows under the streetlights, waves sparkle in the moonlight, and live music from cafés fills the air. The road is closed for vehicles after 6 PM, making it a peaceful haven for walkers, families, and travelers. 🌅🎶 Whether you come here to reflect, to capture photos, or to simply breathe — Rock Beach will stay with you. It’s not just a place; it’s a feeling that lingers long after you leave. 💙 Pro Tip: Sunrise for solitude, sunset for romance, and night for pure Pondicherry magic! 🌙
Rangy W — Google review
The promenade is the city's key gathering spot, especially in the evenings when traffic is restricted, creating a wide, peaceful walkway for leisurely strolls. It is dotted with important landmarks, including the iconic four-meter-tall Mahatma Gandhi Statue, the solemn French War Memorial, the remnants of the Old Lighthouse, and the historic Le Café. Promenade Beach perfectly encapsulates the unique blend of French elegance and Indian vibrancy. It is an ideal location to enjoy the cool sea breeze, watch the sunrise, or simply soak in the city’s atmosphere, making it an essential and unforgettable part of the Pondicherry experience.
Mohd A — Google review
A peaceful place. The walking paths are well made and travelers of all nationalities are always smiling. It’s larger than expected. A slow walk along the beach takes about an hour and a half round trip. In the evening, it gets so crowded with street vendors and locals that it feels like the whole Pondi people has come out. It’s also incredibly beautiful at sunset, so I highly recommend visiting if you have the time
Donggeon K — Google review
Great place to walk and take in the breeze. Good place for taking strollers, if you have a little one. There are plenty of cafés along the path.

Serenity Beach in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu is considered one of India's best virgin beaches. Its golden sands and the soothing sound of waves make it a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. The beach offers a serene and isolated environment, making it a must-visit spot in Pondicherry. One of its highlights is the stone bridge that extends into the sea, providing picturesque views for photography enthusiasts. The colorful boats on the shore add to the charm of this beautiful beach.
Beach has a nice view and a lot of surfing schools near it along with some places to eat. Must visit when in pondicherry.

Serenity Beach in Pondicherry is a tranquil getaway with a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. Sanskar R — Google review
TN and Pondy people, please stop unnecessary honking and follow basic traffic manners, 📣📣🤯🤯🥵🥵 Poorly Maintained & Unhygienic Beach This beach was very disappointing during our visit. It was full of waste and felt extremely dirty. Maybe it was because of Ganesh Chaturthi, but apart from that, there were also dead fish, prawn shells, plastics, and other garbage scattered around. The stinky smell from dead fish and the many fishing boats parked nearby made the experience unpleasant. Parking is available, but overall the beach is poorly maintained and unhygienic. Not recommended unless it is cleaned up properly.

"Visited Serenity Beach in Pondicherry—a peaceful haven where the waves kiss the shore and time slows down. The gentle sea breeze, golden sands, and soothing sounds of the ocean made it a truly calming and refreshing experience. A perfect spot to relax and feel close to nature."
ARAVIND D — Google review
Serenity Beach ⛱️ is a beach where you can get the feel of some foreign beach, because of its popularity amongst foreigners, who come here to participate in surfing 🌊, rowing and other water-sports. Here you will find many surfing training institutes, offering various short and long-term courses. Speaking about this beach, I found it to be very clean, rocky and wide. There are two rocky piers on both sides of this beach, where you can walk and reach the last point. Sitting on the last point of the pier and observing the strong waves crashing down on the rocks, paired with strong winds, will transport you to a different world altogether. Here, you can become one with the ocean, one with your soul. Must visit, while touring Pondicherry.⛱️🌊

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Perfect Blend of Peace, Nature, and Adventure – Serenity Beach, Pondicherry Serenity Beach is one of the most beautiful and tranquil spots I’ve visited in Pondicherry. As the name suggests, the moment you arrive, you are greeted by a sense of calm and serenity that makes it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The beach stretches wide with soft golden sand and gentle waves that make it ideal for relaxing walks along the shore. Unlike other crowded beaches, Serenity Beach has a peaceful vibe and is much less commercialized, which helps in truly soaking in the natural beauty. The sea breeze, sound of waves, and the quiet surroundings create a perfect atmosphere to unwind. What makes this beach stand out is its perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. For those interested in surfing, there are several small surf schools and rental shops that offer boards and lessons at affordable prices. We noticed quite a few people learning to surf, and it looked like a lot of fun. Even if you don’t surf, just sitting by the shore and watching the surfers ride the waves adds a unique charm to the experience. There are small, cozy beachside cafes and shacks that serve delicious seafood, snacks, and refreshing drinks — perfect for spending a long afternoon without having to worry about food. The local people running these stalls are friendly and make the experience even better. Sunrise and sunset views are absolutely spectacular here. Early morning offers a calm, almost magical atmosphere, while evenings are vibrant with golden hues painting the sky. It’s a perfect spot for photography lovers. Parking is available nearby, and the beach is quite accessible by car or bike. It’s well-maintained, and the local authorities ensure cleanliness, so the place is always tidy and inviting. Overall, Serenity Beach is ideal for friends, couples, or solo travelers who want to experience nature in its purest form. Whether it’s enjoying a quiet walk, trying your hand at surfing, clicking picturesque shots, or simply relaxing with a book, this place has something for everyone. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Pondicherry – an absolute must-see! 🌊🏄‍♂️📸🙏🏻

A peaceful and scenic beach, perfect for those looking to unwind or try something adventurous like surfing! The waves here are ideal for beginners, and you’ll find a few surf schools nearby. The rocky stretch offers stunning views — especially great for photography or just soaking in the sea breeze. However, parking is quite limited, so plan accordingly. Also, note that the beach closes by 6 PM. Despite the small drawbacks, it's definitely worth a visit!

Visited here with family while the Farm Fest 2025 and some botanical expo was happening. It was great experience during these weeks because a lot of visitors, school tour, exhibitions, pop-up shop sales happening. I'm not sure if this same environment exist on usual days. Good place if you are looking to just spend some time walking around, enjoying park and taking photos. But unless you are visiting during similar special days, there won't be much happening. Easy to reach from Railway station, Beach, Bus Stand etc. Specific cons : Even though we visited on an active day like the public restrooms were not functional even though it is new. Some where closed down. Some had no water. There is a lack of Park Layout Signs and Maps making navigation hard. Would have loved to see "You Are Here" layout maps here and there to make overall navigation. I have only visited this place one time.

I am writing this review to bring attention to an issue I observed during my recent visit. While exploring the aquarium section, I noticed that the scientific names of the fish species were incorrectly labeled as botanical names. (Scientific name is the umbrella term; zoological and botanical names are its branches for animals and plants respectively.) This misrepresentation not only causes confusion for visitors but also undermines the educational value of this place. I respectfully urge the concerned authorities to review and correct it.

The Botanical Garden in Pondicherry is a beautiful escape right in the heart of the city. What impressed me most was how well-maintained and green the entire space feels, despite being surrounded by busy roads outside. The moment you step through the gates, you are greeted by tall trees, flowering plants, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels almost like a natural sanctuary. The garden is spread out and has clearly marked pathways, making it easy to walk around without feeling crowded. I really liked the variety of trees and plant species here—some are rare and give you a sense of how diverse nature can be. There are also boards with names and details of plants, which makes the visit informative as well as relaxing. The small aquarium inside is quite simple but a nice add-on, especially if you are visiting with kids. The toy train and musical fountain were not fully functional when I visited, but they are attractions that would definitely make the garden even more lively. What makes this place special is that it is not just for tourists but also a spot where locals come for morning walks, photography, or simply to enjoy some quiet time. Entry fees are very nominal, and the garden is spacious enough to spend a couple of hours without feeling rushed.

The Botanical Garden in Puducherry is such a nice spot to hang out! 🌿 It has been recently renovated, though some works are still in progress. With proper maintenance and upkeep, the place has the potential to become even more attractive and enjoyable for visitors. The ticket counter closes by 5:30 PM, but you can still hangout inside till around 6:45 PM. Best time to go is during sunset; the pathways light up with cute little lanterns on both sides, and the whole place feels so peaceful with the sound of birds. 🕊️ It’s even more fun once the toy train starts running! 🚂✨

The Botanical Garden in Pondicherry, or Jardin Botanique, is a verdant, historical retreat spanning approximately 22 acres in the heart of the city. Established by the French in 1826 by botanist George Samuel Perrottet, it was initially a center for research and experimental cultivation of exotic and local plants, reflecting the city's strong colonial heritage. The garden's design retains a classic French-influenced geometry, featuring well-maintained pruned trees, gravel-lined avenues, and symmetrical flower beds. It serves as a living herbarium, housing over 1,500 species of flora, including rare, exotic, and medicinal plants, often organized into themed sections like the Palm Section and Fern House.

Stepping into the Pondicherry Botanical Garden, also known as Jardin Botanique, is like walking into a living chapter of the city’s rich Franco-Indian heritage. Established by the French colonists in 1826, this sprawling 22-acre oasis was originally conceived as a horticultural research center. Its primary purpose was to acclimatize exotic flora and study plants suitable for the local agro-climatic conditions—a fascinating testament to the colonial exchange of botanical knowledge. Today, the garden proudly preserves this legacy, boasting an impressive collection of over 1500 species of both native and international plants, including numerous rare and medicinal varieties. The garden’s layout is a key attraction, following a distinct French-influenced geometric style. Visitors are greeted by symmetrical arrangements, well-arranged avenues lined with tall trees, and carefully pruned flower beds. This classical design offers long, tranquil vistas and a feeling of stepping back in time. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the garden serves as a crucial 'lung space' in the heart of Puducherry, offering a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. The presence of informational placards for many species elevates its role as a living herbarium and a valuable educational resource for botany students and nature enthusiasts alike. Highlights like the musical fountain, which comes alive in the evening, and the fact that parts of the Oscar-winning movie Life of Pi were shot here (featuring the iconic central tower) only add to its charm. Despite surviving challenges like the devastating Cyclone Thane in 2011, the garden has been lovingly restored, maintaining its status as one of South India’s most significant botanical gardens. Whether you're seeking a quiet moment amidst verdant surroundings, a study tour into diverse plant life, or a picturesque backdrop for an afternoon stroll, the Pondicherry Botanical Garden is a captivating blend of history, tranquility, and natural wonder. It's a must-visit destination that beautifully encapsulates Puducherry's unique cultural and environmental identity.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church – A Historic Blessing ⛪✨ As St. Anne’s Youth, a group of 25 members, we had the blessing to visit this beautiful church. 🙏 The moment we entered, we felt peace, history, and holiness all around us. 🕍 One of the oldest churches in the region, its unique colonial architecture and elegant design truly stand out. The structure is grand, well-maintained, and filled with spiritual charm. The blue and white tones, tall façade, and prayerful silence make it a perfect place for reflection and devotion. We arrived as a group and stayed in prayer until 12:00 PM, when the church was closing. Even in that short time, it left a strong impact on all of us. ✨ Highlights: ✅ Very old and historically rich church ✅ Unique and traditional architectural design ✅ Peaceful and prayerful atmosphere ✅ Well maintained and welcoming for pilgrims A must-visit for anyone coming to Pondicherry — spiritually uplifting and visually stunning! ❤️⛪

Arikamedu Trust is an enchanting archaeological site located in Puducherry, dating back to the 1st Century BC. It offers a glimpse into the Roman era through its excavations, revealing Roman artifacts like lamps, gems, stone beads, and glassware. The site's picturesque surroundings make it a must-visit on any Pondicherry sightseeing list.
Arikamedu is an ancient site where trading thrived in the old days, especially with Romans. You can see remnants of pottery, old structures, and artifacts that tell the story of its rich trading past. It’s peaceful, not crowded, and perfect for history enthusiasts

Its a very old place or you can say its a ruin but fairly photogenic if want to have skme old movie kind of vibes. If you want to go here you need to book a ferry. After 10 minutes of boat ride you will reach the place. They say scenes of a south indian movie were shot in this place so recommended but for a short visit. Not a place to spend a whole day here . Food- nariyal pani and other ready to eat snacks were available Boat wale bhaiya told us that he will wait for 15-20 minutes only which means we got this much time only to spend here.

A fascinating archaeological site that offers a glimpse into India’s ancient maritime history. Once a thriving Indo-Roman trading port, Arikamedu is now a quiet, offbeat spot with ruins, broken pillars, and pottery fragments that date back over 2,000 years. While the site is not heavily developed for tourism, its raw, untouched charm makes it ideal for history buffs and curious explorers. A peaceful place to reflect on the rich cultural exchanges of the past — best visited with some background knowledge or a guide to truly appreciate its significance.
Devassia M — Google review
Arikmadu trust is historical site , it is a peaceful and historically rich archaeological site located a few kilometres from the main town of Pondicherry. I visited recently and found it to be an interesting glimpse into India’s ancient connection with the Roman world. The site, now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, is quiet and surrounded by greenery, making it feel like a hidden piece of history away from the city crowds. There isn’t much left standing except some brick structures and old foundations, but the information board explains its importance as an ancient Indo-Roman trade port known as Poduke. Reading about the excavations and discoveries—like Roman pottery, beads, and coins—makes the place come alive. It’s fascinating to imagine ships once docking here, carrying goods and ideas between continents. Although the site is small and not very commercialized, it holds great archaeological value. Visiting Arikamedu feels less like a tourist stop and more like stepping quietly into history. Anyone interested in ancient trade, archaeology, or heritage will appreciate it. A short visit of 30–45 minutes is enough, and it pairs well with exploring the nearby Ariyankuppam area or Auroville later in the day.

There is nothing here.. i mean absolutely nothing just a few broken walls n pillers that tell no story . They have just mentioned this place as a tourist place so the boat guys and goli soda sellers can make some money .

The place, despite its historical significance, is unfortunately surrounded by waste and garbage scattered all around. It was disheartening to see such poor maintenance at a site that holds cultural and historical value. A heritage location like this deserves to be preserved with care and cleanliness, not only to respect its legacy but also to provide visitors with a more pleasant experience.

Manakula Vinayagar Temple, Pondicherry - Historical Significance: The temple predates French colonial rule in Pondicherry. Despite attempts to demolish it during Governor Dupleix’s tenure, strong protests from locals preserved it, making it a symbol of resilience and devotion. - Deity & Idol: The presiding deity is Lord Ganesha, locally revered as Manakula Vinayagar. The idol is beautifully adorned, often decorated with flowers, jewels, and vibrant clothing. Devotees believe the deity grants wisdom, prosperity, and removes obstacles. - Architecture: The temple showcases Dravidian-style architecture, with intricate carvings, colorful gopurams (tower gateways), and detailed sculptures that reflect South Indian artistry. - Cultural Importance: It is not just a religious site but also a tourist attraction, drawing pilgrims and visitors from across India and abroad. The temple is especially lively during Ganesh Chaturthi, when elaborate rituals and celebrations take place. - Daily Rituals: The temple opens early morning (around 5:45 am) and closes late evening (around 9:30 pm), with multiple poojas performed daily. The atmosphere is filled with chants, bells, and devotional energy. - Unique Tradition: A highlight for many visitors is the temple elephant, which blesses devotees by gently touching their heads with its trunk — a practice that has become iconic in Pondicherry. - Community Role: Beyond worship, the temple plays a role in maintaining cultural continuity, offering a space for festivals, rituals, and collective devotion.

Situated in the heart of the French Quarter (White Town) near the Promenade Beach, this temple is a vibrant spiritual anchor in Puducherry. Its proximity to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram makes it a central hub for pilgrims. The entrance, marked by a distinctive blue archway, leads into a sanctuary that buzzes with divine energy, offering a stark, colorful contrast to the colonial calmness of the surrounding streets. The temple predates the French occupation, with a history steeped in resilience. Its name, Manakula, is derived from Manal (sand) and Kulam (pond), referencing a sand pond that once existed nearby. Legend has it that during the French colonial era, multiple attempts were made to destroy the temple by throwing the Ganesha idol into the sea, but it miraculously reappeared each time, forcing the colonizers to respect its sanctity. The temple is a splendid example of Dravidian architecture, renowned for its golden Vimanam (tower) and the gold-plated kodi kambam (flagstaff) rising 18 feet high. The interiors are adorned with intricate stucco figurines and vibrant ceiling frescoes that depict the various forms and life stories of Lord Ganesha. These artistic details provide a visual feast that complements the spiritual experience. The Golden Chariot A crowning glory of the temple is its magnificent Golden Chariot, crafted with approximately 7.5 kg of gold solely from devotee donations. Used for ceremonial processions, particularly during the grand Vijayadashami festival, this chariot is a testament to the immense faith of the community. Devotees often pull the chariot inside the precincts to fulfill vows, adding to the temple's perpetual activity. Visitor Information The temple is open daily from 5:45 AM to 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM. While the beloved temple elephant, Lakshmi, who famously blessed visitors for years, sadly passed away in 2022, her legacy remains a fond memory for locals. Visitors should dress modestly and be prepared for crowds, especially on Fridays and during the Brahmotsavam festival in August-September.

It is a spiritual oasis that promises not just a visit, but a truly devotional and memorable

The Puducherry Museum, located in the heart of the French Quarter, is a quaint museum known for its rare collection of sculptures, including ancient bronze and stone artifacts. Visitors can explore exhibits spanning from prehistoric times to the French Colonial period, featuring coins, fossils, weaponry, and even a transport section showcasing an early style rickshaw. The museum also houses superb collections of sculpture and remains of archaeological findings from the Arikamedu Roman settlement.
The Puducherry Museum, located in White Town near Bharathi Park, rock beach, is a rich repository showcasing the region's history, known particularly for its collection of Chola bronze sculptures and artifacts from the French colonial era. The place has potential, but it needs better upkeep. While their collection is quite unique, most items seem to be displayed just for the sake of it, without any proper information or context. Some exhibits aren’t even clearly visible. It would be great if they handled things more professionally, especially considering some of the pieces are genuinely rare. Even a brief description for each item would add a lot of value. On the plus side, the entry fee is just ₹10. But note that photography and videography are not allowed inside the museum.

Videography and Photography are totally prohibited inside the Museum and Art Gallery but allowed outside the Museum where you could find plenty of stone sculptures. I request the authorities to provide Power Back Up Facility for Museum as it poses great difficulties for the visitors and also a security threat. All the displayed artefacts are well organised. The Government should consider providing Air Conditioners for the Museum and increase the ticket fare accordingly.

I recently visited the Puducherry Museum and found it truly beautiful and enriching. Though photography and videography were not allowed, The museum's exhibits were captivating. The ancient coins, statues, and detailed historical information provided deep insights into our heritage. It's a well-maintained space that takes you back in time. I highly recommend it, especially for children to learn about India's rich culture and history. It's a must-visit spot in Puducherry. The peaceful ambience and neat display made the experience even more special. Each section of the museum tells a unique story, making it a treasure trove for history lovers.

Lord Venkateswara temple in Pondicherry is very old and devotional. The Temple was not crowded when I visited on Sunday...so devotees always prefer when they want to visit.

You can find statues of all the 108 divya desams around the Prakara (not just photos)along with tbe traditional name of that divya desai. Very nice temple.
Vishakh R — Google review
Holy enough for a visit, (visited several times during my stay in Pondy during 2012-2014) Much bigger than the No.1 rated temple and attraction of Pondicherry, the Manakula Vinayakar Temple and certainly with a better Holy feel too. The temple has a pond too at the rear but it closed and off limits to devotees. The gopuram at the entrance is impressive and so are the sculpture work in and around the temple though they are in need of preservation. As you do the pradakshina (circumnambulation) of the main deity there is a good amount of sculpture to be seen though they have been painted a bit gaudy. A good portion of the temple seem to be unused and looks like there had been deities and worship in those parts. And near these places there are older constructions where a lot of doves are dirtying the place with their droppings. These areas need cleaning badly. There is a nice black stone floor to sit to spend some time in prayer or contemplation inside the temple's premises. Tulsi garlands can be purchased at the entrance and as you enter the temple there is a nice contraption where water continuously flows via a perforated pipe enabling to wash your legs, though on the way out they get your feet wet again to attract the dust and dirt on from the road. The temple is located on M G Road, very close to the main four road junction of Pondicherry (near the Ananda Inn, Surguru Hotel and Hotel Aarti). Worth a visit if you have the time.

A stunning temple adorned with exquisitely drawn wall paintings showcasing all 108 temples. Remarkably clean and well-maintained throughout. However, prasadam isn't available for purchase on-site. The temple pond stands immaculately clean, suggesting bathing might be prohibited on the premises.

Temple is beautiful and well maintained. You will find paintings and lord Vishnu temple details alle across india here. Do not wear shorts here. Security guard may become rude to you. Bring your water and snacks if needed. Not available inside temple. You will find temple pond but with stagnant water. Need to maintain pond properly.

Beautiful temple. Nicely drawn in walls. Can see all 108 temple paintings. Very clean and neat, well maintained. No prasadam available for sale. Temple pond is very clean. Seems no one allowed to take bath.

Aayi Mandapam is a neoclassical monument constructed by the French in 1854 to commemorate the introduction of water into the city. It is located within a grand porch known as Mandapam, which once housed the fountain supplying water to the city.
Very quiet place. Located inside The Bharatiyar park. Very cool environment with lots of vegetation inside. Open 24 hours a day. Can come for morning or evening walk. Very nice clean environment with fresh air. Really enjoyed the area.

Its one of the historical place of Puducherry and the monument building stands as a logo of Puducherry state. The place is surrounded by lush green trees and situated inside the Bharathi Park were the people can walk on the pathways around the area. Its just opposite to Lietuant Governors office cum residence.

A significant part of the reason why the city has water. This place marks it historically hence the name.

Aayi Mandapam is the calm heart of White Town. The ivory-white pavilion glows against the green of Bharathi Park—clean lines, Corinthian columns, and a proud urn on top. It’s not a “big-ticket” sight; it’s a pause. I loved sitting on the benches, listening to birds and watching families stroll past. Come for 15 quiet minutes, leave with a lighter mind (and a pretty photo). Evenings are lovely when the lights come on and the breeze picks up. Quick tips: • Best time: early morning or golden hour. • It’s inside **Bharathi Park**—no tickets, but the park gates close in the evening. • Respect the space; don’t climb the structure, and keep the lawns clean. ஆயி மண்டபம்—பாண்டிச்சேரியின் அமைதியான இதயம். கொஞ்ச நேரம் அமைதியா உட்கார்ந்து காற்றை ரசிங்க.🌿 Note: The monument sits at the center of Bharathi Park in White Town; park hours are typically around 6 AM–8 PM.

AAYI MANDAPAM Bharati Park Beautiful place to visit. The monument was built in Greco-Roman style at the center of the park. The mandapam was built to commemorate the deserving historical personality Aayi. A stone plaque written in traditional Tamil and Latin pays tribute to Aayi's deed. Open to the public

LA TENDANCE (by LE CLUB) is a restaurant located in an open-air, garden-style dining room at the old French Villa of Hotel De Pondicherry. It claims to be the first restaurant in Pondy to serve French food and offers a cozy and comfortable ambiance. The menu features French, Italian, Indian & Southeast Asian dishes along with seafood and a wide variety of alcoholic cocktails and beverages. The restaurant is known for its Continental, French and North-Indian cuisine.
Best of food , hadn't tasted perfect steak in a long time till I found this place. Seating is very comfortable, best of vibes , amazing location. And the service is all 10. Background music and the ambience is wonderful. Peaceful, refreshing evening's after a long day

Nice ambiance and close to the beach. Felt little expensive. The chicken salad was not good. Chicken fry and chicken pepper was good even though chicken pepper felt like chicken popcorn.
Gagan G — Google review
Tried their beef steak, which wasn't chewy at all. We arrived after 10 pm, almost closing time 11 PM, and felt rushed. The ambience is excellent for a decent dine-in, but the prices are high, which is expected in such a posh location. It's acceptable to charge more, but we hope the food quality improves.
Siju M — Google review
Disappointing Experience at La Tendance Visited La Tendance recently and unfortunately had quite a disappointing experience. We entered around 10:30 PM, and although the restaurant was still open, the service made us feel extremely unwelcome. I ordered a steak, which was oddly served with just some grated cabbage — no mashed potatoes or sautéed veggies, which are usually standard accompaniments. It felt incomplete and lacked both taste and presentation. Worse was the attitude of the waiter. From the moment we sat down, he seemed in a hurry to wrap things up. By 11 PM, he had already placed the bill on our table and brought over the card machine — all without us asking. It was clear he wanted us to leave as soon as possible, which made the whole dining experience very uncomfortable. If the kitchen was about to close, they should have informed us before seating or taking our order. Not the kind of service or quality I expected, and definitely not a place I’d recommend for a late dinner.
Prasanth M — Google review
The seafood barbeque was subpar and over priced. All I could taste was mustard sauce and it cost around Rs.900 for very less quantity. I'm normally easily impressed by different food flavours but this wasn't it. I've given a 1 star review twice in my life and this is the third time. Please taste test your menu again and work on it. The waiter was polite and the ambience was cozy. Food tasted on August 16th
Muthamma M — Google review
Had been to this place few years back when it was located in its old location and liked the relaxed atmosphere. So had the same expectations. This place is too crammed. So I have given it a lesser rating for the ambiance and setup which they say is temporary. Food was good in general. Except for Veg lasagna and Crème brûlée for dessert which was very much average. Good service.

Golden Fried Prawns , a special and tasty dish here, don't miss when u visit this French restaurant, Tasty food, bit costly
Satish A — Google review
By far the worst cooked pork chops ever. Hard as rubber that the steak knife had a problem cutting into the meat. It was so "well cooked" that the chop bone was as crispy as a potato wafer. The pasta was on a WHOLE different level - if they over did the pork, they seem to have "balanced" it out with the penne pasta in white sause (wash is more appropriate) cos it lacked ANY SORT OF FLAVOUR OR BASIC SEASONING. EVEN THE OLIVE WAS TASTELESS! Paid close to 2500 for incipid food.

Really peaceful and beautiful church. The colors on the outside are warm and inviting, and the twin towers make it stand out. Inside, it's calm and quiet with lovely blue ceilings, hanging lights, and colorful stained glass windows. It’s a great place to sit, reflect or just enjoy the vibe. Even if you’re not religious, it’s worth a visit. You’ll feel a sense of calm just being there.

A serene sanctuary in the heart of the city. Our Lady of Angels Church is truly a gem. The moment you step in, you’re welcomed by stunning colonial architecture that speaks of timeless beauty and grace. The tall ceilings, arched windows, and pastel-toned walls create a calming visual that’s both majestic and soothing. What truly sets this church apart is its atmosphere which is peaceful, reflective, and deeply spiritual. Whether you’re there to pray, admire the design, or simply sit in silence, the serenity of the space has a way of calming your mind and soul. It’s a place where you feel removed from the chaos of daily life. A beautiful blend of history, faith, and tranquility. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

One of Pondicherry’s oldest and most beautiful churches, Our Lady of Angels stands as a reminder of the city’s colonial heritage. Built in 1855, the Greco roman architecture is quite rare in South India. The inside is minimalist, yet every element has historical significance. The church also plays a key role in community gatherings and local festivals. Truly a place where faith and history meet.

VEERAMPATTINAM BEACH : Veerampattinam is the biggest coastal village in the Union Territory of Puducherry and is located between Pondicherry and Cuddalore. The village is 7kms from the city centre and frequent bus services are available from Pondicherry. The village has over 500 years of recorded history and is very close to Arikamedu archaeological site. It has rivers on both sides which helps fishermen protect their boats during cyclones as the majority of the swell in the sea is absorbed by the rivers. The surrounding village looks green always as it's enriched with water and nutrient resources. Veerampattinam is also home to one of the biggest festivals - The Temple car festival, where hoards of devotees pull massive wooden chariots using thick natural rope. A sight to behold indeed! The village has one of the longest beach and most beautiful beaches in the south of India. This attracts tourists from all over the world. A large number of people sun bathe and relax on the beach almost round the year. One can also watch the fishermen ply their trade and working with traditional fishing nets at dedicated sites. Long stretches of the beach are free of any kind of encumbrances thus making it an ideal destination for "beaching". Veerampattinam Beach: Each and every beach present in Pondicherry is amazing. I really enjoyed the saree draping class. On the one hand, the explanations about traditions, history, etc., and on the other hand, the practical application. Such a wonderful space in the heart of Pondicherry, with many many activities that enthrall! This is the second time I visited it, and I took their Wake Up Pondy Bicycle Tour. Over 2 hours, our storyteller Dhinesh, took us through a beautiful route, telling us about how the town came to be what it is today. Although I have visited the town many times, I have discovered many new things about it, such as an Indo-Vietnamese connection and Chettinad architecture. The centre also conducts brilliant cooking classes, and my favourite - Kolam making class! It is quite an under-rated spot for domestic Indian tourists, but I guarantee you will enjoy it!

Comprehensive cycle tour through the streets of Pondicherry. Guide was knowledgable and showed around places without rushing. The cycles are older local cycles, so they don't speed and felt safe. We had a good feel of cycling through indian streets. Saranya was very knowledgeable and accomodating to the cooking class, as we travelled with an infant. Everyone was very friendly and had toys and a mat for baby to crawl around. The cooking class was a lot of fun and thorough- with lot of options accommodating to individual dietary needs (we had a variety in our travelling group). It took a little bit longer than the stated duration, but again didn't feel rushed. We finished by enjoying the meal we had made all together which was great. Brilliant experience which I would recommend to anyone!

Totally excellent cookery class with Saranya at the Sita Cultural Centre, facilitated by the very efficient and charming Dhivia. First stop was the Goubert Market to shop for our ingredients, where Saranya not only guided us around but also showed us no end of interesting components and aspects of South Indian cuisine. After some delicious masala chai back at the centre , we got to it, prepping our vegetables and learning about spice combining and balancing. And then cooking time , this time with a bonus seminar about different types of pan and oil. And then we sat down to eat our (well, mostly Saranya’s!) handiwork- and very delicious it was too!! Strongly recommend this- a truly excellent half day!!

Excellent experience- our instructor, Saranya, made us feel right at home! As a foreigner, walking through the market with a guide is a must. We felt like we had a locals grasp on how the market operates, and it was a wonder to see all of the delicious looking fish, coconuts, bananas (of which we learned there are 40+ varieties!). Cool to see all of the colors of Kolam powder for sale, too. Much more interpersonal shopping experience than our overwhelming and too-bright version of super market shopping in USA. And what a great way to see it in action! With Saranya’s guidance, we used the groceries she bought to make a delicious curry, coconut rice and kesari and it ate it all together in their cozy courtyard. We definitely learned kitchen skills that we will bring home with us!

In the heart of Puducherry, the Cluny Embroidery Centre is a delightful discovery housed in an 18th-century mansion. Here, skilled women meticulously craft intricate lace and embroidery on various items like bed linen, tablecloths, and handkerchiefs. The center is run by the sisters of the Cluny Convent and supports underprivileged women by providing them with training and employment opportunities.
Cluny Embroidery Society is a glimpse into the beautiful old art of hand embroidery on cloth. Elegant and graceful designs crafted by women silently, diligently, and patiently working away producing handkerchiefs, napkins and various other products. Located in the heritage town in an old grand building, beautifully maintained, the place is a must visit to complete your visit to Pondicherry.

This embroidery art society located near white town, Dumas street. Various embroidery done cloth items displayed. Run by nuns. Those who are interested in embroidery can visit this place

An embroidery centre run by nuns. Excellent work, but expensive. Towels etc are in white cloth, hence not much practical though.
REJU S — Google review
Great place for hand embroidery- originally started as a place for destitute women, now it employs marginalised women training them in a niche skill; because of the painstaking hard manual labour the pieces are expensive- worth the money, and the nun in charge Sr Augusta is so very kind to the women workers and attentive to the visitors. Beautiful place- French architecture- donated by a benevolent French family- must visit!!
Noyaline B — Google review
Lovely elegant embroidery work done by a group of ladies. (They sell coasters, towels, handkerchiefs, kitchen napkins etc) Met a friendly nun there who took me around and explained the embroidery process. The ladies out there work really hard! Heritage building Picture worthy Note: Shut on Sunday and Monday.
Sanya D — Google review
A delightful place to experience the almost lost art of hand embroidery. You can see live embroidery being done by locals, supported by the church. The items are beautiful, though quite expensive.
H J — Google review
This is a must visit place for everyone. Meet the ladies and the nun who put in efforts to make such a beautiful piece of embroidered napkin, towel and handkerchief. They are just amazing. Support them
Dr S — Google review
A convent initiative taken by the local church to help the poor and needy women and upliftment of society. There is a huge hall where women sit and embroider. It is set in a heritage home that dates back to the 18th century at The Romain Rolland Street of Pondicherry. There is no entry fees and it open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Lovely convent embroideries in satin stitch, french knots to name a few on table cloths, runners, napkins, mats, towels and more. They are quite expensive but then it's convent hand embroidery.

The Sacred Heart Basilica, a Gothic-style Catholic church in Pondicherry, is a remarkable monument of colonial history and religious establishment. Its stunning stained-glass panels depict events from the life of Jesus Christ. This architectural marvel reflects Pondicherry's cultural integration and attracts visitors with its grandeur and spirituality. The rich pink exterior and French designs make it a top tourist attraction, drawing Christians from India and abroad to pray and admire its beauty.
A Peaceful and Beautiful Church....! visited the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Pondicherry and had a truly peaceful and memorable experience. The church is very beautiful, with red and white Gothic-style architecture that really stands out. It’s over 100 years old and still looks grand and well-maintained. The inside of the church is calm and quiet. The colourful stained glass windows are amazing to look at.. Whether you're a believer or not, the peaceful atmosphere inside makes you feel relaxed and refreshed. The only small issue is parking. Cars are not allowed inside the church compound, and finding a spot nearby can be a bit tricky, especially during busy hours. It’s better to come by auto or be ready to park a little away and walk. Still, this minor inconvenience doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The church is definitely worth a visit if you're in Pondicherry – for its beauty, calmness, and historical value.
Alwyn E — Google review
This church is truly beautiful and peaceful. The atmosphere is calm and serene, making it a perfect place to sit quietly and pray. The architecture is lovely, and everything is well-maintained. Visiting here gives a sense of positivity and comfort
Radha J — Google review
A beautiful, peaceful basilica with a striking red-and-white façade and tall Gothic arches. The stained-glass panels glow in the morning light, the nave is calm for prayer, and the grounds (grotto, statues, small garden) are tidy and welcoming. It’s an easy stop from White Town/railway side, and staff/volunteers keep things orderly during Mass. Must visit What could be better: Parking on the boulevard is limited and weekends can get crowded. Photography is usually restricted inside—especially during services—so plan your shots outside. Verdict: Come for quiet prayer and architecture; linger a few minutes just to soak in the stained glass and silence.
Dinesh P — Google review
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Puducherry is a magnificent Neo-Gothic architectural landmark, built between 1902 and 1907 by French missionaries. It is renowned for its Latin cross plan, 24 massive columns, and vibrant stained glass panels depicting the life of Christ and various saints. When we visited it was closed, but guard allowed us till the door for few minutes, Felt happy.
Mithun N — Google review
This beautiful basilica is truly a gem of Pondicherry! The striking red-and-white Gothic-style architecture, paired with the intricate stained-glass windows, makes it a delight for both history lovers and photography enthusiasts. Step inside, and you’ll find a peaceful, serene atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city buzz. Located conveniently opposite the railway station, it’s very easy to reach—perfect to add to your city exploration. The church is well-maintained, and the natural light streaming through the windows makes the interiors feel warm and inviting. There’s also a small church store nearby. While the collection is nice, a touch of friendliness from the staff would make the experience even better. Overall, Sacred Heart Basilica is a calm and soulful place that beautifully blends history, spirituality, and charm. Whether you’re visiting for prayer, photography, or just a quiet moment, this spot is definitely worth adding to your Pondicherry itinerary.

“A must-visit landmark in Pondicherry! The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is truly stunning with its red-and-white Neo-Gothic design and colorful stained glass windows that light up beautifully in the morning. The interiors are peaceful and very well maintained, offering a calm space for prayer and reflection. Conveniently located near the railway station, it’s easy to reach, though parking for cars can be a bit tricky on busy days. Whether you are spiritual or simply appreciate architecture, this church is worth visiting.”

If you think that it's just the town of Auroville where you can head out in Pondicherry for that enduring spiritual experience, think again! Kanniga Parameswari Temple is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Pondicherry because of the high sacred significance the temple has in the hearts of devotees. On M.G. Road, the Kanniga Parameswari Temple is devoted to Goddess Shakti - the goddess of power in Hindu Mythology. Goddess Shakti is the manifestation Goddess Durga who is counted amongst the prime deities of Pondicherry. Besides the significance, the temple is also known for its unique architecture which boasts a perfect blend of both traditional Deccan architecture of India and French style of design. The temple is unique in its with the traditional Deccan architecture of India. It is very near to Vedapureeswarar Temple & Varadaraja Perumal Temple. The interior ceiling of the sanctum is designed in the traditional style of the Tamil architecture and contains motifs on the granite pillars. The construction stands on monolithic pillars that represent the architecture of Europe. The walls of the temple are arched and are ornamented and beautified with angels and heavenly creatures designed on them. These along with the stained glass panes are archetypes of French places of worship. Other than the main sanctum sanctorum, most of the temple structure is designed in French architectural style. Must have darshan when visiting Pondicherry.

KANNIGA PARAMESWARI TEMPLE The temple is unique in its architecture as it blends the style of the French with the traditional Deccan architecture of India. The temple of Kanniga Parameswari is dedicated to the Goddess Shakti who is the representative deity of power in Hindu mythology. Shakti is another form of the powerful Goddess Kali who is one of the popular deities worshiped in Pondicherry and also in the whole country. The monumental structure of the temple is a blend of French and Tamil architectural styles. Devotees and pilgrims from all over the country gather to offer their prayers and seek the blessings of the presiding deity of the temple. Hindu marriages are also conducted in the temple premises. The Kanniga Parameswari Temple still retains the magnificence and uniqueness that was present when the temple was initially constructed ages ago.

A special shout-out to my instructors, Ramanan and Labin, for being supportive throughout. I also want to express special thanks to Aditya, a dive master and my buddy , who was fantastic—he guided me in improving my technique, gave me post dive debriefs, helped me overcome challenging situations (like when my mask kept filling with water), and brought great energy to the experience, along with capturing some amazing underwater photos. Visited Serenity Beach in the evening — the breeze and view were lovely, and it’s a nice place to sit on the rocks, relax, and watch the sea. However, it was quite crowded and not very clean. The beach has more of a local, fisherman vibe with lots of boats and activity. There’s a small area where you can play in the water, but overall it’s better for a quick visit than a long beach day.

Cafe Xtasi is a popular eatery in Pondicherry known for its delectable thin-crust pizzas cooked in a brick oven. Located on the bustling MG Road, this no-frills pizza joint offers an array of options including pizzas, pastas, appetizers, and indulgent chocolate drinks. One of the highlights is the option to order half-and-half style pizzas with different toppings on each half.
Great pizza spot! Waiting time can be a bit long, but trust me, it's worth it! Overloaded with toppings and the flavors are on point. Worth every penny! Highly recommend!

We tried the Arabian Nights and Chicken 65 pizzas, but unfortunately, both were overly cheesy and lacked flavor. We had high expectations since the place was listed as one of the top-rated restaurants in Pondicherry, but it didn’t live up to the hype. We also ordered the Peri Peri chicken wings — while the sauce was quite good, the chicken itself tasted like it had been frozen. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and we left disappointed.

Loved the pizza — definitely coming back, especially for the price! We had to wait around 10–15 minutes, but it was worth it. The crust was amazing, and the cheese was just the right amount — not overloaded, which was perfect.

Food was great indeed. Very happy with the Pizza that we got. But they said a Can of Pepsi is 95 rupees. While the rate in their menu is 80, and MRP is 70. So, it felt a bit like cheating. So, we requested and they were resistant accept their mistake but later they reduced the amount. But would be happy if they updated their menu so that it won't mislead. It is not the matter of money, but rather honesty. Thank you Xtasi
Abhiram H — Google review
Wait Time: I went there on Diwali, there was a wait time. Food: The pizza was thin and delicious. The menu description of items is not completely accurate. Ambience: The place makes you feel couped up as there are not any windows and its a small place. Parking: We only have street parking, so difficult to find good parking and on the lane adjacent to the place there is an open drain so be mindful with parking.

The menu was looking attractive , we had one english breakfast and one american breakfast. My English breakfast had a half baked potato and bacon strips were bad. Big urban park located in the heart of White town. Nice for a morning/evening walk or even for some rest during the day after getting tired walking in the streets of White town. Lots to tree to offer shade in the sun. Kids can also enjoy their time as there is separate playing area for kids too. Recommended!

Serene park with lots of squirrels roaming around. Very calm and full of greenery. I loved the vibe there where you can either sit or walk around. The Mahatma Gandhi statue is at a walkable distance from the park entrance. You can also park your two wheelers in front of the park where there’s a parking space

Bharathi Park, formerly known as the Place du Gouvernement, is a cherished green sanctuary located in the heart of Pondicherry's French Quarter. Named after the celebrated Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi, the park's design is a classic example of French urban planning, featuring lush, manicured lawns and geometrically laid-out pathways.

It’s nice because it’s open space which is so rare here except for the waterfront. It was clearly once a beautiful park but it’s seen better days. It needs a major renovation. Still, it’s nice to walk around and the kids clearly love the playground area

The garden is home to rare and beautiful plants, paintings by local artists, and kindly hosts Jacques who is always happy to share insights into the history of the garden. Visitors can wander around and relax in the shade, or sit down with Jacques to chat about plant life or artistry.
A tiny, fun-sized labour of love. This is a lush and beautiful back garden that was created by a kind Frenchman living in Pondi, names Jacques. You can wander around the garden and enjoy the plants (many of which are labelled) and the shade. If Jacques is home he is likely to talk you through the planting and the history of the garden, which was fascinating!

Flavour packed food. Luckily got a table after 2 times of returning back due to unavailability of seat. The waiters seemed like they were not interested in doing their job. But food was 👌

The cafe offers a wonderful ambiance with great music, creating a relaxing atmosphere. However, the food was just average, and the service was disappointingly slow, as the waiter took a long time to take our order

The restaurant has a lovely ambience and modern design, perfect for casual dining or a relaxed evening out. I had their steak (medium rare, I believe)—juicy and well-seasoned, definitely enjoyable. It’s a popular spot and usually crowded, so I’d recommend booking a table in advance. A solid choice for both food and vibe.

The Old Lighthouse in Pondicherry, completed in the 1830s, is a city landmark and a popular tourist attraction. It offers limited public visiting hours, allowing visitors to experience its rich history and enjoy breathtaking views of the coast from the top. The lighthouse was constructed by the French rulers and is currently undergoing extensive renovation. Initially lit by oil lamps, it was later upgraded to electrical lamps.
The Old Lighthouse of Pondicherry, built in 1836 by the French, is a historic landmark situated on Goubert Avenue (Beach Road). It was the first lighthouse in the region, designed to guide ships approaching the Pondicherry port. Made of masonry and featuring a cylindrical tower, it once housed a powerful kerosene lamp that illuminated the coastline. The lighthouse was operational until 1979, when a new, modern lighthouse was built nearby. Though no longer in use, the Old Lighthouse remains a popular tourist attraction, offering insights into French maritime history. Easily accessible from the French Quarter, it is best visited while exploring Promenade Beach, the French War Memorial, and other colonial landmarks. The site is well-connected by road from Chennai (150 km away) and can be reached by bus, taxi, or private vehicle. It’s a must-visit for history lovers and photographers.

This old light house served as a navigation to the Ships approaching the land of Pondicherry. The Light house was constructed in 1835, the region around mât de pavillon. Around the lighthouse. It was erected by L. Guerre, the French engineer. The light house measures 29 meters tall is a fluted surfaced tower, built on a rectangular building base. The light house has three entrances, which serves the exits also. The light from the tower reaches out to over 29 kilometres in radius. The tower was renovated many times and is at present slightly different from whence it was built. In 1931 a rotating light which is of 1000 watt replaced the fixed light in the tower. Later in 1970 another new lighthouse was built Keerapalayam village and this lighthouse was abandoned. From then it came to be known as Old Lighthouse and has become a monument. This monument serves as a museum and is located in front of Gandhi Statue.

Standing tall along Pondicherry Marina Beach, the Old Lighthouse is a striking reminder of the town’s rich maritime history. Built during the French colonial era, this historic structure once guided ships safely to shore and now serves as a symbolic landmark of the city’s coastal heritage. Its classic cylindrical tower and weathered stonework make it an architectural gem worth photographing, especially against the backdrop of the sea. Though it is no longer functional as a lighthouse, it still holds an undeniable charm, evoking images of a time when Pondicherry was a busy trading port. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views around the lighthouse, particularly during the golden hours of sunrise or sunset. While you can’t climb to the top anymore, simply standing near it and feeling the sea breeze gives a sense of nostalgia and connection to the past. The Old Lighthouse is best visited as part of a walk along Marina Beach, combined with nearby attractions. It’s not a long stop, but it’s a must for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone looking to capture a slice of Pondicherry’s unique character.

The old lighthouse is located in the White Town of Pondicherry. It was built in 1836 by a famous engineer Louis Guerre on the orders of the then French rulers. It is located on a rectangular base 29 meters high. It was built to help ensure the safe movement of ships. After a long period of use, it was closed in 1979. In its place, a new lighthouse was built which is taller and has modern facilities. However, even though the old lighthouse was closed, it has not lost its popularity among the common people. It is still at the center of people's attraction. When domestic and foreign tourists from far and wide come to visit Pondicherry, they definitely come to visit it. Although it is not operational, it stands as a historical landmark on the seashore. Looking at it, one can find the remander of the rich history and heritage of this city. When the light falls on it during sunrise and sunset, it looks incredibly beautiful. Standing next to the lighthouse and feeling the cool breeze of the sea gives you a nostalgic feeling. It won't take long to visit this lighthouse. You can visit it right after walking along the beach and seeing other tourist attractions. This establishment will fascinate history lovers and architecture enthusiasts.

Cafe des Arts is a charming French cafe located in a 19th-century building with vintage decor and garden seating. Run by French expats, it offers a delightful menu of French cafe fare and coffee. The cafe also features an adorable vintage-furnished seating area and an in-house colorful apparel boutique, creating an inviting ambience that exudes colonial heritage charm. Additionally, visitors can explore the adjacent Nirvana shop for hand-made gifts and souvenirs.
Amazing place for a French breakfast and brunch. The crepes are truly special, especially with the amazing variety of rare toppings you can put on them. The veg omelette was served with a couple of other side dishes which make it quite a wholesome meal. The service was slightly slow eventhough I went at non peak hours but they make everything in house which is great. I faced a big issue with mosquitoes because it was monsoon so probably choose something full length when going here or the mosquitoes won't stop pestering you.

Visited Cafe Des Arts during Christmas holidays, after listening to a huge hype for this place from my friends. The ambience was great. However, after waiting in a long queue, the food & its taste made it a slightly disappointing experience. However, the place has a good vibe. If you haven't visited this place, you could visit for once to experience an authentic french cafe.
Dinesh C — Google review
Cafe des Arts, known for its charming ambience, left me with mixed feelings during my visit. While the cafe's setting and atmosphere lived up to the hype, the culinary experience fell slightly short. Starting with the positives, the croissants at Cafe des Arts were delightful. They were fresh, flaky, and lived up to my expectations. Additionally, the eggs dishes were prepared well and met my expectations in terms of taste and quality. I particularly enjoyed the cold espresso, which provided a refreshing pick-me-up. The flavors were well-balanced, making it a satisfying beverage choice. However, one downside of Cafe des Arts was its limited menu, especially when it came to vegetarian options. The countable vegetarian choices might disappoint those looking for more variety. It would be great if the cafe could expand its menu to cater to a wider range of dietary preferences. Another area of improvement is the service, which was disappointingly slow. The wait times for orders and receiving attention from the staff were longer than expected. This sluggish service detracted from the overall dining experience. Although the food did not completely live up to the hype, the ambience at Cafe des Arts was undeniably captivating. The cafe offers both indoor seating and an open lawn, providing options for guests to enjoy their meals in a pleasant environment.

The place has a great ambiance, the artwork and store are highly curated. Each corner has a different and unique type of art taste. Not worth the wait of 60 Minutes, and yes I'm saying this being a foodie myself. Will not recommend this place for food. Food is overpriced, limited and do not preserve the authenticity of the food itself taste wise. Will say, take photographs outside and leave, that's more worthy. No photography allowed inside the restaurant which is unjustified to be honest. EDIT: Updating to 1 star ⭐. The foreigner lady aka the owner of this place is really rude, she insulted my friend for leaving a bad review and also commented on our upbringing, which is anti-Indian in nature. Would never come to this place again.

What a gem café in the middle of Pondi. We absolutely loved everything about this beautiful place. Vintage chic indian deco with some little gem French & Indian sculptures. The atmosphere is cool & soft, large spaces where you feel at home with enough space for your group of friends ( I saw large tables up to 14 guests outside) and small area for 2 to 6 people. The food is excellent, quality is top class, the fruit bowl was generous, fresh, the salad with grapefruit was refreshing and delicious. My children loved the croque monsieur and the crepes. We felt so grateful to have such a place in India. Best breakfast, best lunch, best brunch and best afternoon tea. The Masala chai tea was again generous with a pot for 2. Bravo to all the multilingual team working hard in the background.

The Coromandel Cafe is an upscale eatery that offers a charming atmosphere and locally sourced ingredients. Housed in a historical French colonial villa, the cafe serves a fusion of French and Italian cuisine with dishes like green chilli, curry leaf, and goats cheese tortellini or spicy grilled prawns. The cafe also offers freshly baked pastries and a variety of dining options from traditional French steak to warm croissants or pain au chocolat for breakfast.
Visited The Coromandel Café in Pondicherry and absolutely loved the place! The café has a beautiful vibe — calm, green, and prettily done interiors that make it perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was friendly, and the food was served on time despite the café being quite busy. I started with the Pesto Chicken Pizza, which had a thin and crispy base with a generous layer of fresh pesto and tender chicken pieces. The flavors were light and refreshing — perfect if you enjoy something herby and not too heavy. Next came the Mac and Cheese, and this was the star of the meal! Creamy, cheesy, and baked just right, it had that perfect comfort food feel. Easily one of the best mac and cheese dishes I’ve had anywhere — worth visiting the café just for this. The Tandoori Spiced Butter Chicken was a nice Indian twist in a continental setting. The chicken was well-cooked, mildly spiced, and went perfectly with the creamy butter curry and rice. A good balance of flavor and presentation. Finally, the Spicy Chicken Burger had a juicy patty and fresh veggies. It was quite tasty and filling. Overall, The Coromandel Café offers a great mix of ambiance, flavor, and quality. Prices are slightly premium, but the experience makes it worth it!

Coromandel Café, White Town — every corner here is pure aesthetic and perfect for photos! The café has multiple sections — a lovely outdoor area with plants, cozy indoor seating with a restaurant vibe, and an upstairs space with a vintage café feel. Each corner has its own unique charm. We had a great experience here! The food was amazing — we tried the Mediterranean Pizza (so good, especially with the Greek dip!) and the Mason & Co Chunky Blondie. The blondie was nice, though I wish it was a bit softer. The pizza, however, was absolutely perfect. The service was good, and overall, I was really impressed by the café’s aesthetic and warm vibe.

Coromandel Café is a beautiful little oasis in the heart of Pondicherry. The ambiance is absolutely charming, lush greenery, cozy corners, and a relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger for hours. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Their coffee and desserts are a must-try,especially the tiramisu and cold brew! The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Perfect spot for brunch or a slow afternoon. Highly recommend making a reservation on weekends!

Incredibly difficult to find a spot. Would recommend making a reservation, otherwise, be prepared to wait for a table. Old-world, mansion-style lighting and decor greet you inside. We ordered the pork chops, grilled fish, and a grilled pineapple and chicken salad. Variety of dishes is somewhat limited, but the food is good and service is very prompt.
Sudeshna G — Google review
Their ambience won my heart! Finally visited this place on my 4th visit to Pondy as it is always busy or reservation is closed. So went in super early for dinner this time and was happy with everything. Food was great, reasonably priced. Ambience stole my heart. Service was always with smiles. Went alone that time but it is one of the best places for a date night. They are open only for limited timing and reservation is usually not available, so plan ahead.
Nikitha G — Google review
The much-talked-about café in Pondicherry turned out to be rather disappointing. The service was just about average — we had to request the table to be cleaned before being seated, ask for the menu, remind staff to take our order, and even follow up after a long wait. Table 72 seemed completely out of sight for the staff, and they appeared to forget about it altogether. While I do appreciate that we were given a table quickly since we had a baby, the rest of the service fell short of expectations. For a place that charges premium prices, I would expect at least basic customer service, which was lacking. The food itself was average, and I didn’t find anything particularly enjoyable. The cafe ambience is beautiful, perfect for great photos!

A very famous restaurant in Pondi. One can give it a try if they have the patience to wait. Ambience is great with both indoor and outdoor seating. The washrooms were well decorated and clean. When you enter you will find trinkets, clothes and showpieces for sale and the restaurant is located on the terrace.. Ambience is something to look out for.. We had 'Indian Enchilada' which is a hot chapati filled with lentils and salads with some cheese sprinkled.. We enjoyed the food and ordered some chocolate pan cakes and Vennila icecream.. Pancake was loaded with chocolates and truly homemade.. Though the prices of the food is overpriced I didn't bother to pay for it as we spent a quality one and half hour chatting and enjoying ourselves.. Service time was fairly good.. I had a great learning experience at Étudie Françaises Institution while preparing for the DELF A2 exam. The teaching methods were clear and effective, with a strong focus on grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, and writing skills. The instructors were friendly, patient, and always ready to clarify doubts, which made learning enjoyable and stress-free. The class atmosphere was positive and interactive, encouraging students to practice French confidently. Regular mock tests and assignments helped me understand the exam pattern and track my progress. The study materials provided were well-organized and aligned with the DELF A2 syllabus. Thanks to their structured guidance, I improved my French communication skills and felt confident during the exam. Étudie Françaises Institution is a great place for anyone serious about learning French and passing the DELF exams. I highly recommend it to beginners looking for a supportive and professional environment to build their foundation in French.

Nestled just 3.2 km from the bustling Pondicherry Bus Station, the Romain Rolland Library stands as a testament to literary heritage and history. Established in 1827, this remarkable institution is one of India's oldest libraries and holds the title of the largest library in Puducherry. Originally named Bibliotheque Publique, it was renamed in honor of the esteemed French scholar Romain Rolland during his centenary celebrations in 1966.
The library has a huge collection of books especially on Indian culture, history, philosophy, politics, etc. You can only borrow books if your aadhaar card address is from Pondicherry. However, you can sit and read from the library.

One and only oldest library in Pondicherry. Established in 1827, this library has stood the test of time and freedom struggle, setting a mark on today's young generation. It is an elegant white building with contemporary architecture lined with the most prized books dating back several years. The Sunday Market in Pondicherry is a vibrant and bustling open market that offers a fascinating glimpse into Indian and South Indian Sunday Bazaars. Located at the corner of Nehru Street and Gandhi Street junction, this market is filled with numerous merchants selling a wide array of items including silverware, gadgets, books, home goods, toys, fresh produce, flowers, groceries, and seafood.
Beautiful decorative stuffs and colourful decorative lights, potteries and other essentials are sold here. We got the lights in 2019 and its still in working condition.

Sunday market on mg road is a lot crowded and you get no quality items here. I am told that the vehicles are banned in sunday and the shops open up on the street. I wandered for over an hour but could not find anything worth buying. Nehru street is adjacent to it and it has very good showrooms for clothes.

Great place to shop for household items like carpets, curtains, second hand electronics, cheap earrings, utensils, antique coins and home decor etc. I even saw a few women selling caged parrots and finches. Walking is the only way you can traverse the market with ease. Be careful of pickpockets and speeding two wheelers in the lane.
Raajath N — Google review
Not meant for tourists. Only useful for the locals. Besides couple of shops selling old coins and cameras, there's absolutely nothing more to it for us.

Pondicherry Sunday Market is a lively place with lots of stalls selling clothes, books, accessories, home items and more. It’s a great spot for budget shopping and you can find many secondhand books and unique items at good prices. The market gets crowded, but that’s part of the local vibe. Best time to visit is early morning, as it’s easier to walk around and you get better choices. Bargaining is common, and carrying some cash helps. Parking can be a bit difficult, but overall it’s a nice place to explore on a Sunday and experience local Pondicherry culture.

Surguru Restaurant is a renowned dining establishment in Puducherry, known for its delectable South Indian cuisine. It's a popular choice for locals and tourists seeking an authentic vegetarian meal. The menu features a wide variety of traditional dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, and thalis, all served with their famous filter coffee. Many visitors stop by Surguru to enjoy a hearty breakfast before exploring the city.
The food in this place is delicious, I tried several items and all were excellent. The service and staff is very good and efficient with mobile devices to record your order. The alleyway leading to the restaurant is very nice too, I can see why other people have included pictures in their reviews. The room itself is soulless, bland colours on the walls, no atmosphere. It felt a bit sad and beige. Some colours would be great. The tables are arranged like in a school (or prison) canteen. But the food is well worth it.

Good Food but Slow Service at Surguru Restaurant.. My dining experience at Surguru Restaurant in Puducherry is of mixed feelings. On one hand, the food was truly delicious and well-prepared. The flavors were delightful, and the presentation was impressive. Each dish we tried was a treat for the taste buds. However, the service left much to be desired. Despite the great food, the slow service dampened our overall experience. We had to wait quite a while for our orders to be taken and then for the food to arrive. It was evident that the staff were overwhelmed and could benefit from better management or additional help. Overall, if you have the patience to endure the wait, the food at Surguru Restaurant is worth trying. I hope they address the service issues to make the dining experience even better.

Great lunch for vegetarian. An old house reformed into a restaurant. Luckily I got the table once I entered and normally it looks like there will be a 10-15 mins waiting time during weekends. Food is delicious and price is above average. I enjoyed the lunch and if you are nearby white town and want to try South Indian veg restaurant you can visit this place

Good Food. We had breakfast here. Tomato Thokku which they gave for Idly & Dosa is best in the town. Overall a good try. One negative thing is the location - There is a shop in front selling chicken pork mutton and all. You have to cross that shop to enter into Surguru Restaurant.

Very slow service and comparatively very expensive. The cashew pakoda was cold and hardly had any cashews in it. We ordered a pomegranate juice for 140rs (which is normal) but the quantity was very less (pic attached). I wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a quick, tasty and worthy meal.

During our visit to Puducherry, we had the pleasure of dining at Surguru, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was prompt and courteous. The staff was attentive, ensuring we had a great dining experience. Now, coming to the most important part – the food! Surguru truly serves authentic South Indian cuisine with flavors that transport you straight to Tamil Nadu. Every dish we ordered was prepared to perfection. The Sambar Vada was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and soaked in a flavorful sambar that had the perfect balance of spices. The Plain Dosa was crisp and golden, while the Rawa Onion Dosa had a delightful crunch with caramelized onions adding a touch of sweetness. The Parotta was flaky and soft, paired beautifully with the side curries. To complement our meal, we tried their Filter Kaapi, which was rich, aromatic, and an absolute must-try for coffee lovers. The Masala Tea and Ginger Tea were refreshing, with just the right amount of spice and warmth. Overall, Surguru exceeded our expectations with its authentic flavors, generous portions, and impeccable service. If you’re in Puducherry and craving delicious South Indian food, this place is a must-visit. We would happily return for another fantastic meal!

Very limited collection of clothes only body shop section is good. Before there used to be Ray-Ban, Kama Ayurveda and speedo but this time when I went all those counters were not there only, the cafe inside that is also not that great. Most dissapointing part is they even charge for alteration. I have never seen any shop that charges ever but so dissapointed even after buying denim from there I had to pay alteration charges. People were also super confused, The cashier have no idea about the price, scanned some random price. Overall bad experience.

Don’t get fooled by its outer appearance. We entered with much skepticism but once inside, I was completely impressed. My visit to the New Lighthouse in Pondicherry was an unforgettable experience. Despite the scorching heat of the noon sun, the excitement of climbing to the top of the lighthouse kept me going. The 230-odd steps led me to a breathtaking view that left me awestruck. Although we were only allowed 15 minutes at the top, it was enough to take in the stunning panorama of the blue sea, lush greenery, and tiny buildings dotting the landscape. The cool sea breeze was a welcome respite from the heat, making the experience even more enjoyable. The French War Memorial, located on Goubert Avenue in Pondicherry, was built in 1971 to honor the brave soldiers who lost their lives during World War I. The memorial serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and conveys the message that war only brings loss. Every year on Bastille Day, which falls on July 14th, the memorial is illuminated in a special ceremony.
The inscription 'Des Indes Francaises' on the Promenade Beach in Pondicherry is a reminder of the region's colonial past under French rule. It translates to 'Of the French Indies' and marks Pondicherry's former status as the capital of French India. The promenade, lined with colonial-era buildings and statues, reflects the town’s unique blend of French and Indian heritage, making it a key historical and cultural attraction.

This memorial stands on Goubert Avenue as a constant reminder of the cost of peace while recognising those who fought alongside the Allied Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold duty and honour. Governor Crocicchia inaugurated this memorial on April 3, 1938, marking it as a memory for posterity. It was designed by the sculptor Gaston Petit and an architect named Delafon. Visiting the French War Memorial was a poignant and reflective experience for me. The memorial, nestled in a serene setting, exudes a sense of solemnity and respect. As I walked through the beautifully landscaped grounds, each element seemed to tell a story of sacrifice and courage. The main structure, with its classical design, stands as a solemn tribute to the French soldiers who gave their lives during various conflicts. The carefully maintained inscriptions and sculptures convey a profound sense of remembrance and gratitude. The memorial's architectural elegance complements the gravity of its purpose, creating a space for contemplation and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Surrounded by lush greenery, the memorial offers a tranquil ambiance, inviting visitors to pause and reflect. The well-maintained pathways and well-placed benches provide moments of solitude, allowing one to absorb the historical significance of the site. The attention to detail in preserving the memorial enhances its impact, ensuring that the memories of those who fought for freedom are not forgotten. In essence, the French War Memorial is a dignified tribute to heroism and a reminder of the cost of liberty. It left me with a deep sense of appreciation for the sacrifices made and a profound respect for the enduring spirit of those who served.

Golden bridge pottery in Puducherry is a potters dream place. I was like a kid in a candy store. It is a pottery school and we also get to buy crockery . Pricy but since it hand made it is truly classy.

This place is overhyped to start with . They definitely do not care about the customer service in short. Even when someone travels from a different city just to visit your place they are rude enough not to entertain you to the extend of not entertaining you if they have a lunch break say from 12PM - 1PM which is never disclosed / mentioned anywhere. Only if you reach there and so desperately wanted to have a look ( considering I myself is an artist) , the guy who sits near the main gate would be so rude enough that who will not even entertain you to look around...leave behind being polite or obliged that I have come a long way. Very very disappointing experience for someone who went all the way from Bangalore . Will never recommend anyone as well .

The place is not what it has all been praised about.. poor quality of management and teaching the courses.. tutor is extremely rude and needs help! If put forward some problem they blame it upon yourself and treat you with least respect. Though the place has so much of history, me as person who has been always willing to learn at any cost, should have found other places instead of here.. so many young budding people around are willing to learn for a career change but not at the cost of your peace and health.

Location of pottery studio is great and the workers have good knowledge and experience. With regards to teaching, you will require prior experience with wheel pottery, otherwise the guidance is extremely poor here. The tutor lacks patience and is arrogant, rude most of the time.
