Restaurant
Perched atop the Promenade Hotel, Bay of Buddha is a serene restaurant offering panoramic views of the Bay of Bengal. Specializing in Pan-Asian cuisine, this understated gem is led by Chef Prabhu Dhananjayan and is renowned for its delectable Thai dishes. The menu boasts an array of tantalizing options including Tom Kha Kai soup, dim sums, sushi, Thai curries, and delightful desserts like mango with sticky rice and basil cheesecake.
We had dinner here at weekend. Rush was there. Restaurant was full. The dishes provided here are variety of international dishes. The ambience is superb. The roof top dining takes us to a next level of spending an evening time. You can nice veg and non veg dishes and also drinks. Good spot for Taking out someone on a dinner date.

Our evening at Bay of Buddha was pure bliss! Perched atop The Promenade in White Town, this rooftop restaurant dazzled with its stunning Bay of Bengal views and cool sea breeze. The Pan-Asian menu, featuring succulent sushi and flavorful Thai red curry, was a delight, paired perfectly with creative cocktails. The ambiance—soft lighting, wave sounds, and warm vibes—was ideal for a romantic night. The staff, especially our attentive host, made us feel so welcome. A must-visit for an unforgettable Pondicherry dining experience.

A Must-Visit for Asian Cuisine Lovers in Pondicherry! If you're a fan of Asian food and happen to be in Pondicherry, this restaurant is an absolute gem! They serve some of the best Asian food we've ever had, bursting with flavors, vibrant in presentation, and offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We were especially blown away by the lobster, which was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was a treat to the senses and beautifully plated and packed with rich, authentic flavors. A special shoutout to Cindrella, who made our experience even better by recommending the best dishes on the menu. Her suggestions were spot on, and her warm service added to the charm of the place. In fact, we loved the food and service so much that we went back the very next day, and once again, we were thoroughly impressed. The ambiance, food, and service all deserve a solid 5/5. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Asian cuisine. This place is a true culinary delight in Pondicherry!

Very nice place on the roof top. We had slight inconvenience due to rains(you can shift downstairs in case of rains) but we chose to stay up. We had lovely service from the staff there. Ordered Korean waternut and potato, Truffle Dimsum and a soup for starters. Chinese Fried rice was aptly made. Best was the dessert-Sticky Rice with Mango. Ambience was beautiful.
Ramya R — Google review
Visited Baby of Buddha and tried their classic fried rice, Thai chicken satay, tom yum soup, and avocado & nuts sushi (futomaki style). Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared — the tom yum soup had the right tang, the satay was tender, and the sushi felt fresh and creative. The portions were proper and satisfying, but the prices are on the higher side. Still, it’s a lovely place for those who appreciate authentic Asian flavors and a refined dining atmosphere.

Best oriental food I've had in a long time! Fantastic spring rolls, sushi, and vegetarian options. Absolutely awesome drinks! Spl thanks to Mr. John and Ms. Sucharita for enabling such a memorable experience that we decided to visit again just two days later!
Parth S — Google review
Got judged at the entrance. Wonder how they think they'll attract patrons if they judge the people who come to eat and make them wait for no reason before giving them a table. Quite pricey, but the food does not meet expectations at that range. We ordered chicken gyoza, the miso glazed grouper, and sweet & sour pork ribs. Plating was also mediocre. Ordered a Tequila Sunrise and could not taste the tequila. Make of that what you will. All in all, an underwhelming experience and not worth the price.
Sudeshna G — Google review
The only good thing about this cafe is its ambience , since it's close to beach and located at the rooftop.Very much overpriced and food quality and quantity not worthy for the price we pay. For bottled water they are charging 175 rupees which can't be explained by any means. This is daylight robbery.Service was extremely poor and staff needs real training ; not at all attentive to our requests. We were waiting for a long time for them to come for taking the order. Very poor experience, i won't visit this place again. They are also charging and additional convenience fee of 5% which is questionable. Very very overpriced and over and above that an additional convenience fee for what ????

French restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Cafe
Cafe des Arts is a charming French cafe located in a 19th-century building with vintage decor and garden seating. Run by French expats, it offers a delightful menu of French cafe fare and coffee. The cafe also features an adorable vintage-furnished seating area and an in-house colorful apparel boutique, creating an inviting ambience that exudes colonial heritage charm. Additionally, visitors can explore the adjacent Nirvana shop for hand-made gifts and souvenirs.
Amazing place for a French breakfast and brunch. The crepes are truly special, especially with the amazing variety of rare toppings you can put on them. The veg omelette was served with a couple of other side dishes which make it quite a wholesome meal. The service was slightly slow eventhough I went at non peak hours but they make everything in house which is great. I faced a big issue with mosquitoes because it was monsoon so probably choose something full length when going here or the mosquitoes won't stop pestering you.
Sanchit K — Google review
Visited Cafe Des Arts during Christmas holidays, after listening to a huge hype for this place from my friends. The ambience was great. However, after waiting in a long queue, the food & its taste made it a slightly disappointing experience. However, the place has a good vibe. If you haven't visited this place, you could visit for once to experience an authentic french cafe.
Dinesh C — Google review
Cafe des Arts, known for its charming ambience, left me with mixed feelings during my visit. While the cafe's setting and atmosphere lived up to the hype, the culinary experience fell slightly short. Starting with the positives, the croissants at Cafe des Arts were delightful. They were fresh, flaky, and lived up to my expectations. Additionally, the eggs dishes were prepared well and met my expectations in terms of taste and quality. I particularly enjoyed the cold espresso, which provided a refreshing pick-me-up. The flavors were well-balanced, making it a satisfying beverage choice. However, one downside of Cafe des Arts was its limited menu, especially when it came to vegetarian options. The countable vegetarian choices might disappoint those looking for more variety. It would be great if the cafe could expand its menu to cater to a wider range of dietary preferences. Another area of improvement is the service, which was disappointingly slow. The wait times for orders and receiving attention from the staff were longer than expected. This sluggish service detracted from the overall dining experience. Although the food did not completely live up to the hype, the ambience at Cafe des Arts was undeniably captivating. The cafe offers both indoor seating and an open lawn, providing options for guests to enjoy their meals in a pleasant environment.
Tushar S — Google review
The place has a great ambiance, the artwork and store are highly curated. Each corner has a different and unique type of art taste. It's a heritage French house tastefully converted/restored into a café. The food is decent not really exceptional as such. Visit for the ambiance, the store, to take photos, meet friends, and enjoy the space.
Nandan H — Google review
Cafe is famous for its breakfast and brunch. If you wanna click some nice pictures, this is the place for you. Nice ambiance, friendly staff. Fresh bakery goods and fresh food made all the time. You can even buy organic vegan products from there. They amazing indoor and outdoor seating and bookshelf loaded with books to enjoy reading while have some nice brunch or snacks.
Anmol B — Google review
Not worth the wait of 60 Minutes, and yes I'm saying this being a foodie myself. Will not recommend this place for food. Food is overpriced, limited and do not preserve the authenticity of the food itself taste wise. Will say, take photographs outside and leave, that's more worthy. No photography allowed inside the restaurant which is unjustified to be honest. EDIT: Updating to 1 star ⭐. The foreigner lady aka the owner of this place is really rude, she insulted my friend for leaving a bad review and also commented on our upbringing, which is anti-Indian in nature. Would never come to this place again.
Suryadip ( — Google review
What a gem café in the middle of Pondi. We absolutely loved everything about this beautiful place. Vintage chic indian deco with some little gem French & Indian sculptures. The atmosphere is cool & soft, large spaces where you feel at home with enough space for your group of friends ( I saw large tables up to 14 guests outside) and small area for 2 to 6 people. The food is excellent, quality is top class, the fruit bowl was generous, fresh, the salad with grapefruit was refreshing and delicious. My children loved the croque monsieur and the crepes. We felt so grateful to have such a place in India. Best breakfast, best lunch, best brunch and best afternoon tea. The Masala chai tea was again generous with a pot for 2. Bravo to all the multilingual team working hard in the background.

An okay experience at Cafe des arts. The food was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Service was fine, although it could be more attentive. All the staffs were showing over attitude towards their customers. Overall, a decent option if you're in the area, but there are better choices available.

South Indian restaurant

Brunch restaurant
Surguru Restaurant is a renowned dining establishment in Puducherry, known for its delectable South Indian cuisine. It's a popular choice for locals and tourists seeking an authentic vegetarian meal. The menu features a wide variety of traditional dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, and thalis, all served with their famous filter coffee. Many visitors stop by Surguru to enjoy a hearty breakfast before exploring the city.
The food in this place is delicious, I tried several items and all were excellent. The service and staff is very good and efficient with mobile devices to record your order. The alleyway leading to the restaurant is very nice too, I can see why other people have included pictures in their reviews. The room itself is soulless, bland colours on the walls, no atmosphere. It felt a bit sad and beige. Some colours would be great. The tables are arranged like in a school (or prison) canteen. But the food is well worth it.

Good Food but Slow Service at Surguru Restaurant.. My dining experience at Surguru Restaurant in Puducherry is of mixed feelings. On one hand, the food was truly delicious and well-prepared. The flavors were delightful, and the presentation was impressive. Each dish we tried was a treat for the taste buds. However, the service left much to be desired. Despite the great food, the slow service dampened our overall experience. We had to wait quite a while for our orders to be taken and then for the food to arrive. It was evident that the staff were overwhelmed and could benefit from better management or additional help. Overall, if you have the patience to endure the wait, the food at Surguru Restaurant is worth trying. I hope they address the service issues to make the dining experience even better.

Great lunch for vegetarian. An old house reformed into a restaurant. Luckily I got the table once I entered and normally it looks like there will be a 10-15 mins waiting time during weekends. Food is delicious and price is above average. I enjoyed the lunch and if you are nearby white town and want to try South Indian veg restaurant you can visit this place
Vinu N — Google review
The food was okay. Since it is pure veg restaurant we can go for it. The ambience is good. Can visit for one meal. Quantity was fine even the price was comparatively low than Bangalore.
Kavya M — Google review
Good Food. We had breakfast here. Tomato Thokku which they gave for Idly & Dosa is best in the town. Overall a good try. One negative thing is the location - There is a shop in front selling chicken pork mutton and all. You have to cross that shop to enter into Surguru Restaurant.
AnithaArumugam — Google review
Very slow service and comparatively very expensive. The cashew pakoda was cold and hardly had any cashews in it. We ordered a pomegranate juice for 140rs (which is normal) but the quantity was very less (pic attached). I wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a quick, tasty and worthy meal.
Raja N — Google review
We’ve been here a few times — it’s our go-to spot for lunch whenever we’re in Pondy. The taste was definitely better in the past, but we still enjoyed being here.
Gaurav G — Google review
During our visit to Puducherry, we had the pleasure of dining at Surguru, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was prompt and courteous. The staff was attentive, ensuring we had a great dining experience. Now, coming to the most important part – the food! Surguru truly serves authentic South Indian cuisine with flavors that transport you straight to Tamil Nadu. Every dish we ordered was prepared to perfection. The Sambar Vada was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and soaked in a flavorful sambar that had the perfect balance of spices. The Plain Dosa was crisp and golden, while the Rawa Onion Dosa had a delightful crunch with caramelized onions adding a touch of sweetness. The Parotta was flaky and soft, paired beautifully with the side curries. To complement our meal, we tried their Filter Kaapi, which was rich, aromatic, and an absolute must-try for coffee lovers. The Masala Tea and Ginger Tea were refreshing, with just the right amount of spice and warmth. Overall, Surguru exceeded our expectations with its authentic flavors, generous portions, and impeccable service. If you’re in Puducherry and craving delicious South Indian food, this place is a must-visit. We would happily return for another fantastic meal!

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Cafe Xtasi is a popular eatery in Pondicherry known for its delectable thin-crust pizzas cooked in a brick oven. Located on the bustling MG Road, this no-frills pizza joint offers an array of options including pizzas, pastas, appetizers, and indulgent chocolate drinks. One of the highlights is the option to order half-and-half style pizzas with different toppings on each half.
Great pizza spot! Waiting time can be a bit long, but trust me, it's worth it! Overloaded with toppings and the flavors are on point. Worth every penny! Highly recommend!
Anu S — Google review
We tried the Arabian Nights and Chicken 65 pizzas, but unfortunately, both were overly cheesy and lacked flavor. We had high expectations since the place was listed as one of the top-rated restaurants in Pondicherry, but it didn’t live up to the hype. We also ordered the Peri Peri chicken wings — while the sauce was quite good, the chicken itself tasted like it had been frozen. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and we left disappointed.
Pretha M — Google review
This a great cafe in Pondicherry to have amazing pizza! I had pizza and fries here. The pizza was really good and tasty. The veggies were fresh and the crust was thin but well baked. It's a great place with good ambience and affordable price. Must visit to have great pizza!
Suvas W — Google review
If you're craving authentic wood-fired pizza in Pondicherry, Cafe Xtasi is the place to be! The aroma hits you as soon as you walk in, and every bite feels freshly baked with rich cheese and flavorful toppings. The vibe is relaxed and slightly rustic - perfect for a laid-back meal after exploring the town. Don't miss their signature "Xtasi Special" pizza!
Abhiraami T — Google review
Loved the pizza — definitely coming back, especially for the price! We had to wait around 10–15 minutes, but it was worth it. The crust was amazing, and the cheese was just the right amount — not overloaded, which was perfect.
Vijaya N — Google review
Food was great indeed. Very happy with the Pizza that we got. But they said a Can of Pepsi is 95 rupees. While the rate in their menu is 80, and MRP is 70. So, it felt a bit like cheating. So, we requested and they were resistant accept their mistake but later they reduced the amount. But would be happy if they updated their menu so that it won't mislead. It is not the matter of money, but rather honesty. Thank you Xtasi
Abhiram H — Google review
Wait Time: I went there on Diwali, there was a wait time. Food: The pizza was thin and delicious. The menu description of items is not completely accurate. Ambience: The place makes you feel couped up as there are not any windows and its a small place. Parking: We only have street parking, so difficult to find good parking and on the lane adjacent to the place there is an open drain so be mindful with parking.
Naaga — Google review
The place just feels right. The moment you walk in, it's that perfect mix of cozy warmth and lively chatter, all wrapped up in the incredible smell of fresh pizza. It's truly a place where you can relax, laugh, and just enjoy the good vibes with every delicious bite.

The Coromandel Cafe is an upscale eatery that offers a charming atmosphere and locally sourced ingredients. Housed in a historical French colonial villa, the cafe serves a fusion of French and Italian cuisine with dishes like green chilli, curry leaf, and goats cheese tortellini or spicy grilled prawns. The cafe also offers freshly baked pastries and a variety of dining options from traditional French steak to warm croissants or pain au chocolat for breakfast.
Visited The Coromandel Café in Pondicherry and absolutely loved the place! The café has a beautiful vibe — calm, green, and prettily done interiors that make it perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was friendly, and the food was served on time despite the café being quite busy. I started with the Pesto Chicken Pizza, which had a thin and crispy base with a generous layer of fresh pesto and tender chicken pieces. The flavors were light and refreshing — perfect if you enjoy something herby and not too heavy. Next came the Mac and Cheese, and this was the star of the meal! Creamy, cheesy, and baked just right, it had that perfect comfort food feel. Easily one of the best mac and cheese dishes I’ve had anywhere — worth visiting the café just for this. The Tandoori Spiced Butter Chicken was a nice Indian twist in a continental setting. The chicken was well-cooked, mildly spiced, and went perfectly with the creamy butter curry and rice. A good balance of flavor and presentation. Finally, the Spicy Chicken Burger had a juicy patty and fresh veggies. It was quite tasty and filling. Overall, The Coromandel Café offers a great mix of ambiance, flavor, and quality. Prices are slightly premium, but the experience makes it worth it!

Coromandel Café, White Town — every corner here is pure aesthetic and perfect for photos! The café has multiple sections — a lovely outdoor area with plants, cozy indoor seating with a restaurant vibe, and an upstairs space with a vintage café feel. Each corner has its own unique charm. We had a great experience here! The food was amazing — we tried the Mediterranean Pizza (so good, especially with the Greek dip!) and the Mason & Co Chunky Blondie. The blondie was nice, though I wish it was a bit softer. The pizza, however, was absolutely perfect. The service was good, and overall, I was really impressed by the café’s aesthetic and warm vibe.

Coromandel Café is a beautiful little oasis in the heart of Pondicherry. The ambiance is absolutely charming, lush greenery, cozy corners, and a relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger for hours. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Their coffee and desserts are a must-try,especially the tiramisu and cold brew! The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Perfect spot for brunch or a slow afternoon. Highly recommend making a reservation on weekends!
Saranya J — Google review
Incredibly difficult to find a spot. Would recommend making a reservation, otherwise, be prepared to wait for a table. Old-world, mansion-style lighting and decor greet you inside. We ordered the pork chops, grilled fish, and a grilled pineapple and chicken salad. Variety of dishes is somewhat limited, but the food is good and service is very prompt.
Sudeshna G — Google review
Their ambience won my heart! Finally visited this place on my 4th visit to Pondy as it is always busy or reservation is closed. So went in super early for dinner this time and was happy with everything. Food was great, reasonably priced. Ambience stole my heart. Service was always with smiles. Went alone that time but it is one of the best places for a date night. They are open only for limited timing and reservation is usually not available, so plan ahead.
Nikitha G — Google review
The much-talked-about café in Pondicherry turned out to be rather disappointing. The service was just about average — we had to request the table to be cleaned before being seated, ask for the menu, remind staff to take our order, and even follow up after a long wait. Table 72 seemed completely out of sight for the staff, and they appeared to forget about it altogether. While I do appreciate that we were given a table quickly since we had a baby, the rest of the service fell short of expectations. For a place that charges premium prices, I would expect at least basic customer service, which was lacking. The food itself was average, and I didn’t find anything particularly enjoyable. The cafe ambience is beautiful, perfect for great photos!
Dr. J — Google review
A very famous restaurant in Pondi. One can give it a try if they have the patience to wait. Ambience is great with both indoor and outdoor seating. The washrooms were well decorated and clean. Food is tasty but a bit pricey. Chocolate macchiato is a must try if you love coffee. Service is a bit slow.
Kusuma E — Google review
I think this place is living upto it's hype. You look for any youtube travel channel or any other social media about pondicherry, this place features. We went there after lunch for desert and coffee, it was full but they are well organised. They called us after 15-20 mins wait. The ambience is cool with trees in the middle and seating is pretty nice. We ordered pista cake, apple pie and a Capachino.it took some time but not that too much. We liked everything thing. This place is a must visit - for whatever time. Lunch/Dinner/coffee, it works for everything. Menu is extensive!!

Cafe
Coffee shop
Located in Pondicherry, Le Café is a waterfront café with a rich history. Originally built as a Port Office in 1790, it later transformed into a charming café after the destruction of the pier due to a cyclone in 1952. Situated on Rock Beach, this government-operated café operates 24/7 and offers stunning views of the Bay of Bengal.
I visited Le Cafe on a quiet Sunday late afternoon when it was mostly empty, offering a peaceful dining atmosphere. The cafe boasts a spectacular view of the sea, allowing diners to enjoy their meals with the serene backdrop of the ocean right up close. I ordered the chicken sandwich, priced around 300, and a refreshing lime soda for 75. Both items were delightful—flavorful and satisfying. The combination of good food and the tranquil seaside view made for an enjoyable experience. Le Cafe is a great spot for those seeking tasty food in a calm setting with stunning sea views.

Le Café in White Town, Puducherry, is a charming spot that feels like a paradise for anyone who loves to sip coffee by the sea. With the refreshing sea breeze, warm sunlight, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air, the ambiance is simply magical. Watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee here is an unforgettable experience. The food and beverages served are of excellent quality. From coffee, pasta, and pastries to delicious sandwiches, everything is prepared to delight the taste buds. The menu beautifully blends local flavors with international standards, making it unique. Adding to this, the friendly staff and their warm hospitality make the visit even more pleasant. What makes Le Café truly special is its natural setting and serene atmosphere. Sitting by the beach, listening to the sound of the waves while enjoying a cup of coffee, offers a rare sense of peace. For both travelers and locals, this café creates memories that are bound to last a lifetime. K.vinothkumar

Visited this cafe in the evening for some good coffee and snacks. The coffee was too good here which was filled pro the brim of the cup. The chicken sandwich too amazing with the sea view but sadly we visited after the sunset and hence could enjoy the sound of waves along the food. The Cold Coffee too was amazing. The apple cart tasted fine. This restaurant is open 24/7 serving food right beside the Gandhi Statue. You can always stroll through the beach. It’s self service here.

Le Café in Pondicherry offers a lovely location right by the beach, perfect for enjoying the sea breeze with a cup of coffee. The view is unbeatable, and it’s a great spot to relax. However, the service could be a bit more attentive, and the food was a little underwhelming for the price. It’s still a nice place to visit, especially for the vibe and the view, but could use some improvements in the overall experience.
Abdul A — Google review
The food is not good. Honestly, the burger tastes like a 50 rs burger. The fries are really bad. The cheesecake is not fresh; it already settled. Check out the image for reference. The mocaccino is not really a mocaccino. People come here to take photos from the roof. The food is really overpriced, and the kitchen hygiene is average. The burger had raw capsicum in it, like cold stuff.

Amazing ambience and unbeatable beachside location! Perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sea view. Food was good, portions decent, and prices quite affordable compared to other beachside cafes. Self-service setup, but overall a great place to chill with friends or family. Definitely worth a visit when in Pondicherry!

The star point for this place is that it is situated just near the beach which attracts the customers. The food is ok. The place works on self service. The place is hyped due to the location and has become an iconic place in Puducherry. Would recommend to visit there at least onceiti enjoy the view.

Wonderful Experience This establishment offers the pleasure of dining with a stunning view of the sea. The food was of excellent quality—flavorful and well-prepared—while the pricing remained very reasonable. A highly enjoyable and satisfying experience overall.

Baker Street, located on Bussy Street in Pondicherry, is a casual eatery that offers a wide variety of French baked goods and desserts, as well as sandwiches, meat dishes, pasta, and seafood. The menu features oven-fresh quiches, croissants, brioches, crepes, and an array of delectable desserts at affordable prices.
A cozy bakery tucked away in Pondicherry, perfect for those who love fresh bakes and a relaxed vibe. The place is clean, the staff is warm and welcoming, and service is quick even during rush hours. Ideal for a quick coffee break or grabbing something sweet on the go. Their consistent quality and calm ambience make it a reliable spot to revisit.

Baker Café was an amazing place! Even though it was a bit overcrowded because of all the hype, trust me it’s totally worth it. The quality in the Beverage & Confectionery segment was top-notch, rich in flavor, and absolutely satisfying. The only thing that could be improved is the seating arrangement. Overall, it’s a 10/10 experience and a must-try spot when you’re in Pondicherry. I loved the place for its offerings in the Beverage & Confectionery segment!
Subham G — Google review
As the hype says, yes a nice dessert place. We had the cheese cake which i honestly didnt like that much, i have had better in and around pondicherry. The ambience is nice, lots of places to sit , and all dessert and displayed in a long cabinet so selection is damn easy. The dessert options when went in december were far more than when i went this time in off season time. U can visit it for the hype but if u explore local bakeries or café u will get almost the same thing or better for cheaper price. The bakery is in one of the busiest street there so parking might be an issue at peak hours, its all street parking yet in december the footfall is high causing traffic.

Great Food, Fun Vibe, but Slightly Pricey The food is amazing as always, making it a great spot to hang out with friends. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but the overall experience is enjoyable. The restroom was clean and decent, and the uniquely designed tap was a nice touch!

The brownie was truly delightful, and the escargot pastry impressed as well. While the tiramisu was enjoyable, it didn’t quite match some of the best versions I’ve had before. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, but the prices are noticeably steep.

Wanted to visit baker street for a while and it finally happened. And the place did not disappoint. Tried quite a few dishes including palmier, cinnamon roll, croissant. And almost all of them were great. Finding a place to sit can be a bit challenging if you arrive at peak hour. It’s a place you would not get bored of.

I recently visited Baker Street in Pondicherry, a must-visit destination recommended by my friend. This bakery has carved out its own niche, offering an array of scrumptious savories and irresistible pastries. Most items are freshly baked and absolutely delightful! However, seating is limited, so it can get challenging to find a spot during peak hours. On the downside, prices could be more competitive, and the staff's vibe didn't quite match the bakery's charm. Despite that, the croissants were a highlight, especially the cinnamon roll one – a must-try!

Tried the blueberry cheesecake and tiramisu. It was the worst tiramisu ever had, it was like having a cheap cake base with wipped cream topped with chocolate powder. Also the have very few vegetarian options to choose from.

Located in Hotel De L'Orient, Carte Blanche is a charming restaurant that takes you back to the old French coastline with its vintage decor and old-world charm. The extensive menu offers a variety of coastal and Continental dishes, including seafood curry, ratatouille, fried calamari, mutton curry, and vegetarian options like ravioli and pasta.
This is a great little restaurant if you need a break from Idly, thosai and currie. Both my wife and I found the food delicious and creative. The food looked no different from other Indian food but was complex in its taste. The ingredients were organic and clean. Was not expecting this sort of quality. The staff were friendly, especially Stalin. Yes that’s his name! Keen to help out with your queries and always had a recommendation or two. Was so good that we went there for dinner 3 nights in row. Highly recommended, especially Stalin!

The food was well what to say, it was French food!! Cooked really well, served extremely well but tasted like hell, if eaten without the additional sauces. If you eat it the way it is supposed to be, then it's quite good. The place is pricey. Quantity served is quite low but more than enough to fill your hunger, don't go by size. Try to go in the late evening, before that they are a bit ill prepared.

Beautiful colonial setup and great food . The home baked garlic bread stole our hearts. The blueberry mocktail is the best that I have ever had. We had tried the pasta and a vegetable soup as well which were quite good .
Neha B — Google review
Food is fairly decent but a big zero on the presentation. The presentation is done by placing few cut cucumber or tomato slices, but that's what I would expect from a small street vendor or a local bar. Not at a restaurant where lot of tourists dine. But the staff is really nice and very hospitable. A word of caution though, Check the prawns before you eat because it wasn't cleaned at all and had the black strand running along it's back, which ideally all restaurants clean else you could have a bad stomach. On confronting them about this issue, they said it's prawns stuffed with herbs, lol, bad luck we were not convinced as we do cook prawns at home and asked him to replace it with another dish. So be sure you don't eat their special PRAWNS STUFFED WITH HERBS ;)

Tucked away near the French Town side, it has a cozy and welcoming vibe that instantly makes you feel at ease. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated – you can really tell they put thought into every dish. Their desserts were a highlight, absolutely worth saving room for! The location is perfect too, close enough to explore the charming streets of White Town but still calm enough to sit back and enjoy a relaxed meal. Located near the Promenade and the main beach, in a parallel avenue, this is a hidden gem. This place was recommended to me by many, and I in turn will recommend this place to others for authentic French food. The ambience is nice, there's not much footfall, and the food takes time to arrive, but those are positives, as each dish is masterfully crafted. The waiting staff are courteous and helpful, especially Mr. Prosper.

Definitely recommend it if you go to White town, Pondicherry… We stayed in Pondicherry for 3 days and had all our 3 lunches over here!! It is located in a quiet and picturesque street very close to Promenade beach. The ambience is really amazing with rustic decor and furniture, and renaissance-style paintings. The food is out of this world!! If you like continental food, then this is a must visit place, as they serve mostly European cuisine. They specialise in French cuisine, which we found to be quite authentic and very delicious!! The presentation of the dishes was also top notch.. Kudos to their chef Shanmugam!! Most definitely the No.1 French restaurant in Pondicherry!!

Delicious food. Right near our hotel, and specialises in French and Continental menu. Out of all places in Pondicherry, this has the most reasonable cost and delicious food as well. The Hungarian Stew was what we tried - creamy, delicious but the quantity was less for the price we paid. Beautifully presented. We came back and tried Ratatouille for the first time. It was well made and it was nice to know how it tastes after having seen it in the movies only. Interiors have a lovely charm of old world era. Mr. Prosper suggested us some amazing French cuisine and he had an in-depth knowledge of the cuisine and it was good to chat with him.

I recently dined at Les Saveur Pondicherry and it was a truly delightful experience! The food was exceptional, with a range of delicious options to choose from. But what really stood out was the amazing ambience - it was warm, inviting, and made us feel right at home. Our waiter, Prosper, was a highlight of the evening. He was incredibly patient and polite, taking the time to answer all our questions and ensuring that our meal was just right. His excellent service added a touch of class to an already fantastic dining experience. Overall, I would highly recommend Les Saveur Pondicherry to anyone looking for a memorable meal in a lovely atmosphere. Well done to the team - we'll be back!

Nice ambiance and close to the beach. Felt little expensive. The chicken salad was not good. Chicken fry and chicken pepper was good even though chicken pepper felt like chicken popcorn.

Tried their beef steak, which wasn't chewy at all. We arrived after 10 pm, almost closing time 11 PM, and felt rushed. The ambience is excellent for a decent dine-in, but the prices are high, which is expected in such a posh location. It's acceptable to charge more, but we hope the food quality improves.

Disappointing Experience at La Tendance Visited La Tendance recently and unfortunately had quite a disappointing experience. We entered around 10:30 PM, and although the restaurant was still open, the service made us feel extremely unwelcome. I ordered a steak, which was oddly served with just some grated cabbage — no mashed potatoes or sautéed veggies, which are usually standard accompaniments. It felt incomplete and lacked both taste and presentation. Worse was the attitude of the waiter. From the moment we sat down, he seemed in a hurry to wrap things up. By 11 PM, he had already placed the bill on our table and brought over the card machine — all without us asking. It was clear he wanted us to leave as soon as possible, which made the whole dining experience very uncomfortable. If the kitchen was about to close, they should have informed us before seating or taking our order. Not the kind of service or quality I expected, and definitely not a place I’d recommend for a late dinner.
Prasanth M — Google review
The seafood barbeque was subpar and over priced. All I could taste was mustard sauce and it cost around Rs.900 for very less quantity. I'm normally easily impressed by different food flavours but this wasn't it. I've given a 1 star review twice in my life and this is the third time. Please taste test your menu again and work on it. The waiter was polite and the ambience was cozy. Food tasted on August 16th

Had been to this place few years back when it was located in its old location and liked the relaxed atmosphere. So had the same expectations. This place is too crammed. So I have given it a lesser rating for the ambiance and setup which they say is temporary. Food was good in general. Except for Veg lasagna and Crème brûlée for dessert which was very much average. Good service.

Golden Fried Prawns , a special and tasty dish here, don't miss when u visit this French restaurant, Tasty food, bit costly
Satish A — Google review
By far the worst cooked pork chops ever. Hard as rubber that the steak knife had a problem cutting into the meat. It was so "well cooked" that the chop bone was as crispy as a potato wafer. The pasta was on a WHOLE different level - if they over did the pork, they seem to have "balanced" it out with the penne pasta in white sause (wash is more appropriate) cos it lacked ANY SORT OF FLAVOUR OR BASIC SEASONING. EVEN THE OLIVE WAS TASTELESS! Paid close to 2500 for incipid food.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (8/10) The ambience is beautiful — it genuinely gives the vibe of being in another country. While I haven’t been to Italy or France, it reminded me of scenes from movies and shows set there. This was my first time visiting a resto-bar. I didn’t try any alcohol, went purely for the food. The fries, burger, and pasta were good, but not exceptional considering the price — felt a bit overpriced for me personally. Service was quick and smooth, with minimal wait time. Do note that a 5% service fee is added to the bill by default. Overall, a pleasant experience. Great for the vibe, decent for the food.

Appachi Chettinad Restaurant is a charming eatery that specializes in authentic Chettinad and North Indian cuisine. Nestled in a rustic setting with a thatched roof, it exudes the ambiance of mini Tamil Nadu. The menu features beloved dishes like Dum Biryani and Nethili Podi Varuval, which is buttery anchovies and spicy dry-fried chicken served with chutney.
Came here with my friends in search of authentic tamilnadu food, which is quite hidden in pondicherry The atmosphere inside the hotel was really good like a traditional chettinad house. The food for costal area is little overpriced like the vanjaram fry etc about 280₹ per piece. Biriyani chicken was 200₹ which is expensive compared to local places in bangalore or chennai but the quantity was good For a tourist spot was very reasonable Our price was about 500₹ per person with appetizers and main course Vegetarian food is also avaliable and is quite good It was about 200₹ per person with meals and appetizers which some of my friends took There a also a cool sitting space in a veranda at the front Overall - Good place for a tourist looking for authentic food with very reasonable prices compared to other restaurants here and satisfaction for sure

The Food and the staff is good. I went a little towards the closing time of their resturant but there was still a waiting for empty tables, so the quality of service was focused not on serving us but waiting for us to leave and hand the bill to us. They told us many things could not be prepared as they were finished but all we had asked for was simple tings like breads.

The two stars for their interior and building. We gone for dinner when we looked in to their menu nothing new and overpriced. For example single bun parotta mentioned 90₹ but chicken kothu 170₹. My entire joy from seeing building front and interior come to end after speaking with them whatever I asked they simply told that only weekend you will then they can close the restaurant on other days instead of saying not available. Pros: building entrance and interior Cons: excluding above two all are cons

Do not just go with the rating and the name. This place may disappoint you severely. No fresh seafood, lack of varieties. You will hardly find anything that tastes good here. Not the same old place which it used to be seven eight years back. Though the staff here are welcoming and quick, this is not the place if you are looking for authentic Chettinad
Raksha N — Google review
This place is very traditional, almost feels like it must have been someone's house with all the traditional set up now converted to a restaurant. The staff is watchful and serve you well. It might just get a tad too busy at times so you may have to call out their attention as it's less staffed than what it should have as it's popular not amongst the locals alone but also with the tourists. It's right beside Thancos Natural ice cream parlor. The veg meals were delightful and also the prawn masala was well prepared. Food is spicy, but then we love spicy - but for the ones who eat less spice - may be disappointed a bit. Note that it's a restaurant with traditional setup so don't expect it to be like a cliched White Town kinda restaurant, coz it's not. Definitely a must try!

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Pondicherry! Chez Francis is one of those rare finds that somehow doesn’t show up often on Google, Google Maps, Swiggy Dineout, or other platforms—but absolutely deserves to! The cocktails here are outstanding—strong, well-crafted, and completely tailored to your taste. Mr. Balram, the host and bartender, is exceptional - both in terms of his skills and who he is as a person. He intuitively understands what you're in the mood for, whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic, and whips up incredible custom creations. The food is equally impressive, both in quality and portion size. The ambience is warm, inviting, and full of character—every moment here was delightful. If you’re in White Town, Pondicherry, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

This place is in the famous white town. This place is inside a hotel with a old (french?) building. Place is very beautiful and the ambience is quiet and very nice. They have both in door and outdoor seating. Pondicherry weather is not going to help sitting outdoor may be except dec/jan. Their menu has good variety - indian, continental etc. we ordered prawn fry and a chicken starter. For main course again grilled chicken of some sort. Food was very nice, tasted good. I ordered a German beer, nothing great about it. Then switched to known brands. In summary , very good and very quiet and beautiful place. Good food and drinks. Must visit in Pondi. I think staying here will be exciting too!!

The food was way too spicy even after mentioning to the staff that we would like less spicy/non spicy food. The amount of chillies in one serving is astonishing. We ordered prawn curry but ended up with chilli curry with some prawn in it

Mr. Ram and Ms. Priya are very warm and welcoming hosts. The breakfast offered here is freshly prepared and tasty. Can recommend.

I recently visited Chez Francis with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. The food was not tasty, and the portions were limited, especially considering the hype surrounding some of the menu items. Some dishes were also undercooked, which was a letdown. The menu names sounded exciting, but the actual dishes didn't live up to the promise. With better food quality and more generous portions, this restaurant could potentially shine. However, as it stands, I'd recommend exploring other options in the area. Rating: 2/5 stars
Shabana K — Google review
They try to be authentic, but the execution falls short. The staff seem to have little idea about what they’re serving, and the overall experience feels untrained. The prices are unreasonably high — even restaurants in Bangalore are more reasonably priced. I specifically asked for a sugarless coffee but received one with sugar. To add to that, a service charge was added by default, which I had to request to be removed. The whole experience felt rather superficial — more of a show than genuine hospitality. Overall, it didn’t feel authentic or worth the price.

Hotel Appachi Pondicherry is a popular restaurant known for its traditional Chettinad cuisine. Established in 2001, it has become one of the most sought-after dining spots in the city. The menu is inspired by authentic South Indian flavors, offering dishes like Chicken Curry, Chicken Chettinad, and Chicken 65 served with flaky parathas. The cozy ambiance and impeccable service make every visit a memorable culinary experience.
Located on the Cuddalore main road , near the IG Statue. Road side parking available. Very good food. I tried Non veg , veg meals and sides. Best meals available. Briyani also must try. Moderate price and nominal quantity. Try this when you are in Pondicherry.

Not worth for money... Very poor service.. Quantity very less.. no manager,,, serving boy only making bill,, no extra rice,,, no extra butter milk also..

We ordered prawn briyani and prawn was not cooked properly. Then they replaced it with mutton briyani, the same case for mutton briyani as well. It was not cooked properly and we couldn't able to eat that as well. The 2 Stars given for the atmosphere and okayish service. For food we can give only negative reviews.

Located in the French Quarter of Pondicherry, near notable landmarks like the Police headquarters and church Eglise Notre-Dame des Anges, The Indian Kaffe Express (TIKE) is a charming and inviting restaurant. The menu features a fusion of Indian fast food from cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi alongside European-inspired dishes such as couscous salad and crepes.
I recently visited Indian Kaffe in Pondicherry, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The food was absolutely delightful, with a variety of flavorful Indian dishes that truly stood out. Each dish was fresh and well-prepared, with the right blend of spices that left a lasting impression. The ambience of the restaurant was equally enjoyable. The decor was cozy and inviting, providing a relaxing atmosphere perfect for a casual meal or a night out with friends. It had a nice balance of traditional and modern touches, which added to its charm. However, the one downside was the service. While the staff was friendly, the service was a bit slow, which affected the overall dining experience. It seemed like there were delays in bringing the food to the table, and the waiting time between courses was longer than expected. Despite the slow service, the quality of the food and the inviting atmosphere made it a worthwhile visit. I would definitely recommend Indian Kaffe for anyone visiting Pondicherry, as long as you're not in a hurry!
Gaurav V — Google review
Visited Indian Kaffee Express after seeing on Instagram, one of must visit places for breakfast. The ambience of the place was good. We ordered for Chilli cheese toast which was amazing and tasted delicious. French toast looked lovely as in the seen the pics which was served with some salads and french fries but sadly the French toast didn’t taste good. The bread wasn’t soaked in properly, it was dry from inside. The manager spoke to us and he was kind enough to give us discount for 2 French toast and also took the feedback positively. We have definitely tried much better French toasts than this place as the manager said we were the first ones to complaint about this. Rest of things like French fries, salad and chilli cheese toast was good.
Pavana P — Google review
One of the silent and neat cafe in Pondicherry right inside French colony. It will close by 9pm so need to reach early. Only problem parking in road side and it may attract fine. Lasangne and chicken sandwich was really tasty.
Ginto P — Google review
We have been coming to this place for years, but sadly the standards seems to have declined gradually over time. The interiors are still pleasant. The food though visually appealing, misses the mark taste - wise. We ordered the English breakfast, Kafe Mocha, Mushroom Omlette, French toast and Waffle with ice cream n Nutella. Kafe Mocha was the only highlight. English breakfast was decent. The rest of the food was a disappointment. Mushroom omelette wasn’t fluffy and had uneven salt - some bites were too salty to eat. Both the flavour and texture seemed off. The waffle was chewy and slightly burnt on one side. And the spread didn’t taste like Nutella, more like a cheaper version. The French toast was an utter disaster. It was neither soft nor moist like a French toast should be. Also I fail to understand why every dish including the English breakfast came with a side of French Fries. It felt unnecessary and out of place. The washroom was under maintenance and the hand wash area wasn’t clean. Overall, a totally underwhelming experience and we do not see ourselves returning.
Sitara P — Google review
Had the English breakfast here — it was tasty and well-prepared. The ambience was pleasant and relaxing, perfect for a slow morning meal. Prices were a bit on the higher side, but overall, it was a satisfying experience and a nice place to enjoy a good breakfast. Washrooms could be improved.
Harshanand H — Google review
An Indian French style cafe with good ambience but very high price, like a a lime is cost 150 Rs..!!! So just aware that this is very very cosy place but you can sit and relax and enjoy the calmness.. Good portraits and structure with english touch in the architecture..
New T — Google review
Have been visiting this place since 2015 on an annual basis, and over the last few visits there has been a sharp decline in quality. Ordered English BF, mushroom omelette, waffles with Nutella and French toast. The omelette was slightly burnt and salty in bits, Nutella was substituted with some cheaper product, and the French toast was not properly soaked. Also why add cheap fries and peanuts to every dish? The place also lacks proper upkeep, with wash area being outright dirty. This was once our favourite spot for breakfast in Pondy - sadly those days seem firmly in the past.
Ramesh M — Google review
We went for breakfast. Ordered an English breakfast and open toast sour dough mushroom sandwich. The food tasted good. Quantity and quality worth the money. The service was slow. They gave us the English breakfast first which was for my husband. He had almost finished eating his dish and my dish had still not come! 🤷🏻‍♀️

This lowkey is a chill place to hangout and grab a couple of beers by the ocean. Even though its not fancy , the location is the highlight , just besides the beach. A fan favorite of the locals in pondy.
Sunay C — Google review
Could do a lot better with overall aesthetics of the place and food. Has an enviable sea view can be turned into a fabulous place with a little bit of vision and taste.
Auro C — Google review
If you like quite you will like this place. I have been here 2 days in a row. It's a local bar in an old worn out building. Nothing fancy here but the place has its one vibe. Quite and chill balcony view of rock beach. Best for long conversation with friends and family, with good bar snacks and reasonable liquor prices.
Sujeet R — Google review
Seagulls used to be one of the finest sea-view restaurants in Pondicherry — a perfect blend of good food, soothing music, and an incredible view of the ocean. It was once the go-to spot for evenings by the beach, offering a relaxed vibe and fresh seafood that truly stood out. However, over time, the charm seems to have faded a bit. The service and food quality aren’t quite what they used to be, and the overall ambiance feels less lively now. The view still remains beautiful — that ocean breeze and sunset glow are unbeatable — but the experience doesn’t fully capture the magic it once had. Still, Seagulls holds a lot of nostalgia for many of us who’ve enjoyed memorable evenings there. With a little effort and attention, it could easily reclaim its old glory as Pondy’s favorite sea-view hangout.

If you want to be woman in power, then empower other women - Nina Shaw. The above quote can be related to this cafe run by a bunch of smiling ladies.. Sweetest serving people.. Way to go.. The place is very neatly maintained.. This is old residence (or bungalow) which has been turned out to be a place of business.. When you enter you will find trinkets, clothes and showpieces for sale and the restaurant is located on the terrace.. Ambience is something to look out for.. We had 'Indian Enchilada' which is a hot chapati filled with lentils and salads with some cheese sprinkled.. We enjoyed the food and ordered some chocolate pan cakes and Vennila icecream.. Pancake was loaded with chocolates and truly homemade.. Though the prices of the food is overpriced I didn't bother to pay for it as we spent a quality one and half hour chatting and enjoying ourselves.. Service time was fairly good.. I'm likely to go back to this place and spend some time..

We did not stay, although it looked very nice as a heritage home, but had dinner in the courtyard. A varied albeit limited menu, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Very good value for money and a relaxed vibe. Would definitely recommend

Ambience and vibe of the place is excellent, with a Good garden in the heritage property. It is supposedly a 100 plus years property. Restaurant has a limited menu but the food served is good. Best part is you can walk around to the best that white town has to offer. Flooring of the room particularly where we stayed (B2) needs improvement. Sudha and Geraldine are good hosts.
Shirish B — Google review
The restaurant offers some commendable dishes — the pork and crème caramel, in particular, were quite good and enjoyable. However, the dining experience was significantly let down by the poor service. The staff seemed inattentive and unresponsive while taking orders, and basic requests were either ignored or met with resistance. Moreover, there was a noticeable lack of warmth or courtesy — no smiles, and at times, even arguments with customers. Great food can only go so far without good hospitality. I hope the management takes steps to improve the service, as it currently overshadows the quality of the food. This is not the first time to me here , which repeats so here i am with this review.

The garden theme styling for dining looked amazing Food was ok. Not authentic french cuisine I would say... We ordered tenderloin which was served with a lovely butter sauce. The pork chops was good with a fresh sauce. The carbonara could have been much better. Service was 4/5

I recently visited Cafe Ole and had a great experience. I absolutely loved their Dark and Dense Hot Chocolate—it's rich and flavorful, perfect for anyone who enjoys a serious hot chocolate. The Belgium Hot Chocolate was also very nice, a smoother and milder option if you prefer something less intense. While the collection of drinks is a bit small, the quality is excellent. It's definitely a place to try if you're in the mood for a great hot chocolate.

We had the - Mysore maharaja coffee - 5/5 - it's strong & soooo flavorful. If you like your coffee strong, this is the coffee for your 75% dark hot chocolate - 5/5 - YUM. Not too sweet, decadent. Margaritas looks very unassuming from the street but the food was good for a Mexican cuisine restaurant in India. They have tried to keep the dishes as authentic as possible. The tacos, chips and salsa and fajita were all tasty. The churros were the best of the lot. Wish they served margaritas and some corona beer. Service was good..

I had the impression that I was in a Mexican town from the décor, music, and atmosphere. I placed orders for Mexican Churros, Pink Guava Margarita, Chicken Nachos, and Chicken Enchiladas. Overall, I had a great experience. The waiter recommended what I should get, and the combination was excellent. The food was of decent quality, although there were a few instances where I thought it could have been better. If you enjoy eating, you should visit this restaurant. With friends, it will be more enjoyable than dining at a regular restaurant.

Restaurant is very well decorated and atmosphere is really good, service is also quick. We ordered few things along with drinks, would really recommend drinks here. Now coming to food, Would say quite an good effort to create Mexican taste and presentation to make it like Mexican dishes. Thing which we didn’t liked it was use of packaged stuff, all sauces, salsa etc were not freshly made, which was something we were not expecting.
Himanshu J — Google review
The ambience of the place was good. Red walls, filled with paintings and continuous Mexican music in the background. The staff and service was good as well - quick, attentive and helpful. Food taste was okay (not bad but could be better) and I felt the portions could have been bigger. It's a bit pricey for the portions they serve. (I tried mainly the vegetarian options.)

I really liked the way, they present. I loved all those items which I ate, the mango margarita(for sugartooth) , pink guava margarita(a mix of sweet and sour), the Mexican wings, kitchen sink burrito (their signature), lamb taco Mexicana, chicken fajitas. And boy oh boy, that lamb taco was so good that I ordered one more of that. I loved their service too, and I regret that how did I miss this restaurant despite being in Pondicherry.

Set in an open garden space this is the place you want to come to to try some of the best wood fired pizzas in Pondicherry. Though I would give the Pizzas, it's taste and quality a 4 star I wouldnt give the approach to this restaurant and the street it is on more than a 2. Once inside though you are cocooned of the environment outside. That said very decent service and very good food (including their salads and pastas)

You will get great pizza. But price bit high.yiu will get great quality wood fire pizza and also order ice tea in summer. Great combination.you can also ask them to give half half 2 different topings on single pizza 🍕 if you want to taste different varieties. They also have wheat 🌾 pizza. You will get thin crust pizza .this place is in auroville.

Firstly this place is located in an Alley type street which requires you to park the car elsewhere and walk here. The ambience is a bit bland with no life. The staff were courteous, but the good was bad. The Pizza was like some ROTI and filling in top. Don't even try their bologenese of risotto, it had diced tomato in onion for crying out loud. Overall it leaves such a bad taste that we were apprehensive to try continental again in the city. Branch owner of this place, please do a quality check or comparison with your place in Auroville which is doing great.

With multiple locations across the city, including a compact spot on Jawaharlal Nehru Street and an elegant branch on Mission Street, Surguru is known for serving some of the best dosas in town. The menu features South Indian staples like crispy dosas and sambar vada, with an array of dosa fillings that keep visitors coming back for more.
I recently had a very good experience at Surguru, largely due to the excellent food and service. I started my meal with the Mushroom Soup, which I found to be quite average—it was a simple soup with mushrooms, but lacked any memorable flavor. However, the Mushroom 65 was a fantastic starter. It was incredibly tasty and tangy, and I really enjoyed it. For the main course, I tried two of their specialties. The Chilli Parota is a must-have; it's a special item at this restaurant with a great, distinctive flavor. The Paneer Masala Dosa was also a standout. It's a large dosa stuffed with a delicious paneer butter masala filling, and the portion was quite generous and filling. While the service itself was excellent and the wait time for the food was minimal, I did notice that the ordered items arrived randomly rather than in a logical sequence like soup followed by starters and then the main course. This was a minor point, but it's worth noting. Despite that small issue, the overall dining experience was very positive. The food was delicious, and the staff was attentive. I would definitely recommend Surguru and look forward to returning soon.

We have been to Sadguru for breakfast along with family. We ordered Dosa varieties and Pongal. The food was tasty but average. Service was good. There was ample parking space. Wash Room area was well maintained. Pls do visit and share your feedback

This restaurant is among the decent ones one can find on this stretch, if looking for vegetarian food with some basic hygiene and for a family. We were 3, and seated immediately. Once order taken, food was served in 10 min flat. Food was very tasty and fresh/hot. The portion sizes of the curry/sabzis could be a little more, but nothing to complain. Quick in & out, fuss free and worry free (quality of food)

If you are looking for authentic local tamil cuisine would highly recommend this place. Went here twice (breakfast & dinner) and it was crowded both the times. Everything we ordered were delicious. Kothu Parota, poori & dosa are must try.

Extremely disappointing experience. The manager, Mr. Prakash, was completely uncooperative and unwilling to understand the issue. We had ordered Reshmi Paneer Tikka from the main course sabji section, but were served it as a starter. When we questioned how a starter could be listed under the main course heading, he kept denying it instead of acknowledging the confusion. Things only got worse: • Salad was served midway through the meal, instead of at the beginning. • When we ordered the main course, no plates or cutlery were provided. The sabji sat on the table for over 5 minutes while we repeatedly requested basic items like plates and spoons. • Only after asking multiple times did we receive spoons, that too without plates. Overall, the service was completely unprofessional, disorganized, and far from what one would expect from a decent restaurant. Definitely not recommended.

Service staff are very good. Expensive, food tastes good, not great. Plenty of parking and a nice place for families or large group to enjoy an all vegetarian menu.

A Cozy Spot for Continental Food Lovers 🍽️ If you're looking for a warm and inviting place to enjoy delicious continental cuisine with your friends and family, this place is a hidden gem. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy and classy, with both AC and non-AC seating options to suit your comfort. What really makes the experience stand out is the staff — incredibly polite, attentive, and welcoming. Their behavior adds a personal touch to the entire meal, making you feel truly cared for. Highly recommended for a relaxed dining experience with great food and even better company!

Our visit to Bread & Chocolate in Pondicherry was an absolutely memorable experience and one that we would happily recommend to anyone visiting the city. We went there for dinner with friends, and from the ambiance to the food, everything hit the right note. The café has a warm and inviting vibe with minimalistic decor and a charming, European café-style aesthetic. Despite being crowded and busy, especially during peak season, the place didn’t lose its cozy feel. There was a long queue, and we had to wait for more than 40 minutes to get a table — but honestly, it was worth the wait. We tried a variety of items and were thoroughly impressed. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious, made with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully — true to authentic French-style café food. The sourdough pizza was another highlight; the crust was perfectly baked, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. And of course, we couldn’t leave without trying their coffee, which was rich, well-balanced, and a perfect complement to the meal. The staff were polite, attentive, and well-organized, managing the crowd quite efficiently. Despite the rush, the service was smooth, and we were made to feel welcome throughout. Overall, Bread & Chocolate is a must-visit café in Pondicherry. Whether you're a fan of artisanal bread, great coffee, or simply love a relaxed, charming setting to enjoy a good meal, this café ticks all the boxes. Just keep in mind that during peak hours or tourist season, it does get very crowded — but if you're patient, the food and experience more than make up for the wait. We left happy, full, and already planning our next visit!

The cafe is located on roofed on the first floor, light music and the cool breeze made up for a great ambiance. This is Cozy Spot for who loves Continental Food. We ordered below dishes; MOROCCAN CHICKEN TARTINE - Bread with chicken and veggies along with their special sauce. CROISSANT - Croissants were baked to perfection, with the perfect crunch outside and tenderness inside. CAPPUCCINO - It was a perfect cappuccino. SPANISH LATTE - All the items were delicious. What really makes the experience stand out is the staff - welcoming staff with attentive polite nature. I recommend this place for those who are looking for relaxing dining experience with great and calm company.

They have two branches — one in Auroville and one in White Town, Pondicherry. The White Town one has a better vibe, bigger space, and feels like a proper café. Since it’s a tourist spot, you might have to wait around 30 minutes or more, but the service is good and everything’s freshly made. I tried their Tropical Smoothie Bowl — totally worth the hype, super yummy! My friend loved her order too. Overall, a really nice experience.

Had a great experience at Bread & Chocolate! The food was outstanding—especially the sourdough pizza, which was perfectly baked with a rich, tangy crust and fresh toppings. Every bite was a treat. The service was equally impressive. Staff were attentive, friendly, and quick to offer helpful suggestions. Whether you're stopping by for a full meal or just a pastry and coffee, they make you feel welcome and well taken care of. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Pondicherry who appreciates good food and warm hospitality.

This is a stylish place for a western style breakfast. We enjoyed ours here. The meals were well presented and tasty. The coffee was excellent too. The only downside is their failure to coordinate the arrival of meals at the table. Two times in a row my meal came after my three companions had finished their meals!

While the atmosphere of this restaurant is great, the food and drinks were a letdown. My dishes were bland and didn't meet my expectations, which was disappointing. I didn't get a chance to try any of the bakery items, as I wasn't impressed by the main food menu. The place has a fantastic vibe and is worth checking out for the experience alone, but I'd recommend it as a one-time visit rather than a go-to spot for a great meal.

The restaurant has a lovely ambience and modern design, perfect for casual dining or a relaxed evening out. I had their steak (medium rare, I believe)—juicy and well-seasoned, definitely enjoyable. Chez Pushpa offers an authentic and rare experience of home-style Creole cuisine in Pondicherry. Run by Mamie Pushpa and her family, this sought-after dining venture provides a familial ambiance where guests can savor traditional Creole dishes while engaging in conversations with the hosts. This pre-book only experience allows visitors to either participate in cooking their meal or simply enjoy the delicious French-Creole food prepared by Anita and her mother, Pushpa.
‘Chez Pushpa’ was such a great experience and I recommend it to anyone who has a chance to visit Pondicherry. We always seek out intimate participation in local contexts wherever we travel to and this really was an opportunity to savour the unique Franco-Tamil cuisine as well as learn more about the diasporic community. Located in the heart of the city, (about 15 minutes from the White Town via auto rickshaw) Pushpa auntie’s home offers a unique blend of French and South Indian flavours that will definitely leave you wanting more. The chef, Pushpa auntie, is a master of her craft, and her passion for Creole cuisine shines through in every dish. From the delicious Chaiyos (Vietnamese spring rolls) to the flavourful Prawn Vindaloo, every bite is a delight. The welcoming and intimate setting adds to the overall experience, making it feel and taste truly like a home-cooked meal. Noel uncle was really friendly and attentive and more than happy to explain the dishes and their ingredients, while regaling us with wonderful stories from both Pondicherry and France. (We missed the opportunity to meet Anita, Pushpa auntie’s daughter, but it was lovely conversing with her online and being further recommended the best bakeries in town) Overall, "Chez Pushpa" is a culinary gem in Pondicherry, a most memorable gastronomic affair, and a must-visit for anyone looking to try the authentic Creole cuisine. Rating: 5/5 stars Price: Moderate ($15- $20 per person) Will I return? Absolutely!

Chez (literally translated to 'House of') Pushpa is a beautiful home in a peaceful neighbourhood in Pondicherry. Anita (Pushpa aunty's daughter) is a plant lover and a sustainability enthusiast who curates the experience to perfection. Pushpa aunty, a septuagenarian, is a dab hands at preparing not just the local cuisine but also its fusion with French and Vietnamese. Her passion for food is admirable, and her energy and smile infectious. A must-do-when-in Pondicherry, the food, flovours, people and the pleasant vibe will not just enrich your appetite but also your heart and soul. To top it all, is a hand-painted menu card by Anita's father, that serves as a souvenier and a reminder of a lovely meal and a memorable experience.

This was one of the most unique experiences I have had. The food was unique for us and delicious, all cooked from scratch by Mam Pushpa. We enjoyed talking to Mr. Noel, and the house is lovely. Anita, their daughter provided us some unique recommendations for our way back to Chennai, and we enjoyed all the sights and eateries. Chez Pushpa is definitely a must visit.
M J — Google review
This place is not a fancy restaurant, it's a beautiful home with antique decor. Pushpa is the name of the 72-year-old lady who prepares the food. They serve creole cuisine both veg and non-veg. If opting for non-veg, try pork vindaloo. I felt some of the dishes had a south Indian touch. The menu includes 1 welcome drink and some starters ( 'subzi' /veggies) followed by one main course item and a dessert (kheer). The food is served on a banana leaf (traditional way) and they give a spoon but tastes enhances when eaten with hands. Meal per person costs INR 2000. One thing to note: Make reservations before going. Anita, her daughter handles the bookings. The place is open sometimes and only provides lunch. Also, they can accommodate approx. 2-3 families at a time. Give it a try and experience home-cooked food.
Soumi M — Google review
This is a pre-book only experience from Anita and her mother Pushpa, you can book to part cook your meal or just dine. It is an experience not to miss of the French-Creole cooking of Puducherry that you will not find elsewhere. It is a wonderful family experience for a small number of guests in her lovely home. If you love food and care about the preservation of authentic tastes, then you will not be disappointed. Truly our best experience in Puducherry.

Tanto Pizzeria is a relaxed Italian restaurant and pizzeria that offers takeaways and features shaded terrace tables. The cafe is nestled in a lush green garden with trees and plants, creating a romantic setting. Known for its terrific pizzas topped with fresh garden ingredients, Tanto's ever-smiling staff serves up the best Italian cuisine. With a variety of flavors and choices, there's a pizza for everyone at Tanto.
We had Sea Food World and Margherita pizzas. Both were very delicious. Servers were very polite and were checking with is about our food and needs. Restaurant is just on the side of the road. So it’s dusty and looks dirty. Though the servers cleaned our cable very well. Parking is for 5-6 cars and little tight.

Great quality of cheese and pesto sauce, considering the restaurant is in India and obtaining good ingredients is challenging. The Spinach Tortellini and Greek Salad were amazing! The pizza (Vegetarian) could have had more vegetables, sauce and Mozzarella cheese. There was too much Ricotta cheese (squeezed) on top of the baked layer of cheese. I loved the whole wheat bread that accompanied the salad- it tasted fresh and homemade.
Avanika Y — Google review
Tanto Pizzeria: Good, But Overrated I recently tried the large Mediterranean pizza at Tanto Pizzeria and found it to be a decent, but not a standout experience. The overall impression was that while the pizza was good, it didn't quite live up to the hype surrounding the restaurant. The pizza's crust was one of its more notable features. It was impressively thin and soft, providing a pleasant base for the toppings. The cheese and vegetables were also excellent—fresh, flavorful, and generously applied. However, the experience was slightly marred by the overcooked and burnt edges of the crust, which detracted from the enjoyment of each slice. While the pizza was enjoyable overall, it didn't justify the high praise the restaurant often receives. It was a perfectly fine meal, but it didn't leave a lasting impression or make me feel that it was a must-visit spot. For a simple and tasty pizza, Tanto Pizzeria gets the job done, but it falls short of being a truly exceptional culinary destination.

Great Food, Terrible Service by Supervisor Tanto Pizzeria looked like a lively, happening place — until I encountered the disappointing behavior of the supervisor, Mr. John. Right from the start, he tried to upsell by pushing us toward the AC section, and when I declined, he reluctantly gave us the menu. When I asked for soup, he said it would take time — I agreed — but then suddenly claimed soups weren’t available. It felt like he simply didn’t want to take the order. I finally ordered a Masala Chicken Pizza, which was delicious, and later chicken soup, but he cheated by giving two full portions, saying they were half each. When I asked the manager for a dessert recommendation, after some hesitation, he suggested the Tiramisu, which was actually quite good. To make matters worse, I ordered iced tea, which John ignored and never served, yet it appeared on my bill. Overall, the food was great but the service was unacceptable. The supervisors need serious training in customer handling — or should be replaced if the management cares about maintaining the restaurant’s reputation. Just throw him out..

We visited Tanto Pizzeria for dinner, even though it was a weekday the cafe was full. We ordered a couple of pizzas and french fries with coke. The wood fired pizza was cooked well with fresh ingredients and tasted delicious. They have a unique variety of veg and non veg pizza menu. French fries were superb crispy and tasted amazing with dip. The service was quite late, other than that definitely a must try cafe in auroville.

I visited Tanto Pizzeria and had a good experience overall. The pizza was made right in front of us, which was nice to watch, and even sitting near the oven, it didn’t feel uncomfortably hot. The food was good, but nothing particularly exceptional stood out. Still, it was an enjoyable experience, especially seeing the pizzas being freshly prepared.

The menu was looking attractive , we had one english breakfast and one american breakfast. My English breakfast had a half baked potato and bacon strips were bad. The hash brown 🤧 my god again half cooked and idk what it was made of actually we were wondering if it was cabbage or potato for a second. Taste was okayish not too bad i would say. Visited this pure veg restaurant and was truly impressed! Every dish we tried was flavorful and well-prepared; a real treat for vegetarians. The service is quick, courteous, and attentive, making the experience even better. While the ambiance is just average and nothing fancy, the taste of the food easily makes up for it. Finding the place can be a little tricky, and parking is limited to the street, which may be inconvenient at times. Overall, a must-visit spot for great vegetarian food lovers!

The food here was really good! The hariyali paneer tikka was absolutely yummy, and I loved pairing the laccha paratha with the diwani handi masala. The gravy felt like a palak paneer base mixed with veggies, and the combo worked so well together. We genuinely enjoyed the food. What let the experience down, though, was the service. The staff seemed more interested in chatting with the manager than paying attention to customers. One waiter just placed the paratha and gravy on the table and walked off without even checking if we had plates to serve ourselves. On the brighter side, the manager was polite and did try to keep track of what was needed. But the bathrooms? Honestly, they were in terrible shape and really need a major renovation.
Dr. J — Google review
The service is quite slow, people are not prepared for such large gatherings. And most of them are either busy with their phones or lost in some other world of their own. Imagine a single demand of yours takes 5 turns of you asking for the same. But all of this is compensated once you've the food on your table. The aroma, the hygiene, the taste and the presentation everything is just top notch.
Nistha T — Google review
We ordered four items — Honey Chili Potato, Tawa Paneer, Plain Roti, and Fresh Lime Soda. The Honey Chili Potato was disappointing. Though the portion size was generous for the price, a large portion was burnt, which spoiled the taste. The Tawa Paneer turned out well — flavorful, nicely cooked, and served in a good quantity. For roti, there was some confusion — we ordered plain rotis but were served plain naan instead. Even after informing the staff, it wasn’t corrected. The Fresh Lime Soda was the biggest letdown. I had clearly mentioned not to add sugar syrup (since it often turns overly sweet or salty), but instead, they added sugar crystals, which we had to dissolve ourselves. A simple request seemed to confuse them, which was disappointing. Ambience & Service The ambience was decent but quite crowded during dinner time. We got a table after a short wait of about two to three minutes. The management, however, seemed a bit chaotic. Hygiene was okay, and the overall aesthetics were average — nothing exceptional but acceptable for a busy restaurant. One nice touch is that there’s an ice cream parlor right next to the restaurant, which makes for a pleasant stop after dinner. Overall Delhiwala 6 offers decent North Indian food with good portion sizes but inconsistent quality and service. It’s okay for a casual meal near Rock Beach, but there’s room for improvement — especially in attention to detail and customer requests.

Avoid - if you like food that tastes good. My order: Malala papad: seems like they forgot the masala. Below average, over priced Paneer Lababdar: if you are a person who likes good North Indian curries, this is an absolute turn off! The paneer was of good quality but the gravy was missing flavours and the sheer quantity of diced capsicum was an over kill. At 385 rupees you would expect better! Butter Roti: Was perfect. Wheat roti well done. Atleast they got something right! Diet Coke: was sold at MRP. That’s a good thing. All in all, a disappointing lunch.
Hardik D — Google review
The good thing is that it’s a pure vegetarian restaurant with a pleasant vibe. The place has good vibes and is chill to go with friends or family. However, the service was quite slow — we had to ask multiple times for basic things like salad and water. The food was okay. I’ve also added photos of our order receipts and the latest menu with current prices as of today for reference.

Absolutely loved our visit to Crêpe In Touch! 🙌❤️ It’s a charming, homely café built within a house, giving it a warm and cozy vibe. We tried the chocolate ganache crêpe and the chef’s special—both were delicious and beautifully presented. The café also has cute little shops inside, adding to its unique and welcoming atmosphere. A perfect spot for a relaxed outing with great food and a touch of creativity!

Do not miss when in town!!! Heartfelt healthy tasty buckwheat crepes! They customized for me since I wasn't able to decide between 2 signature Savory crepes - added pesto to my Ratatouille Beautiful decor. Cute organic shops inside. Interiors like a traditional artistic home.

Loved my experience here. It has very modest, humble, homely aesthetics. Felt very soothing to dine in there. The food was great! All the savoury crepes and dishes we tried were nothing but delicious. Coffee was a lot better than many of the other places we tried. There are handmade shops within the cafe as well with really cute daily/gifting items. The staff in there were so polite and helpful. Very satisfied with hospitality. This place is a must visit if you are in Pondicherry.

Absolutely loved my experience at Crepe in Touch! The crepes were perfectly made — light, delicious, and filled with generous portions of fresh ingredients. The presentation was beautiful, and every bite was bursting with flavor. The Manager Hubert was warm, welcoming, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The cozy atmosphere and attention to detail make this place a must-visit for anyone who loves good food and great vibes. Highly recommended — can’t wait to come back!

A cozy cafe with good food. The crepes were very tasty. The ingredients used are fresh. The service was good. They have a small boutique for some clothes, soaps and aloe vera based skin products. Chocolate cake with ice cream is a must try.

Ahh a welcome change of food and good set of variations with crepe. The salad was fresh and the vinegarette was yummy. Tea was a bit bitter .. overall great food

A quiet little place tucked away almost inconspicuously, in one of Pondicherry’s small streets. Prepare to guide yourself with Google maps to reach here, and then look for the sign board. Walk into a rustic house (probably from the French colonial era) and seat yourself on one of the homely sofa sets. Amazingly it has 3 or 4 shops inside, for you go to Ka-Ching, if your pockets desire. I guess in this little town, at about 11:30 AM, we were the sole hungry souls in the neighbourhood, trying to get some brunch. While we tried only 2 dishes (Speciality crepes) from their menu, I must say we enjoyed our little brunch and had surprisingly well fed tummies by the end of it. My only disappointment was the Sun dried tomato, which is unlike the original ones I have had the pleasure of enjoying. That part alone was not to our liking, but otherwise definitely a good experience, if you want some peace and some good crepes.

Nestled just outside Pondicherry, Theevu Plage Beach Hotel Resort is a hidden gem that you simply cannot overlook during your travels. This charming beachside restaurant in Chunnambar, about 8 km from the town center, can be reached via a delightful boat ride from the Chunnambar boathouse. It offers an enchanting dining experience with its vibrant ambiance and breathtaking views of the shoreline.
Great location, right next to the sea beach. We could see the sun rising from the sea from our rooms. Food was great. Everything was fresh cooked, so it took time after ordering but tasted fresh. I would recommend trying their sea food. One word of caution - I visited during the weekend and found out that its quite crowded in terms of cars and motorcycles and the street for entering Serenity beach is very narrow. Be prepared to be stuck for sometime, or you can arrive after 9 PM when mist of the folks would have left. There is no dedicated parking for the hotel, but you may get some space to park your car in front of the hotel across the street at the beach. On weekdays, people would come to buy fish from the fishermen at the beach. They might park their scooters right behind or in front of your car. Don't get upset and just wait for a few minutes, usually they would leave soon after purchasing fish. Overall, the stay was good and the food was great.

We had a wonderful experience at Theevu Plage! From the moment we arrived, the manager Shiva stood out for being well-informed, courteous and incredibly friendly. He helped us prioritize our itinerary, arranged transportation, negotiated rates on our behalf and checked in daily to ensure we were comfortable. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. The food was an absolute highlight. Every dish we tried was delicious and fresh. The view from our room was just as shown in the pictures, stunning and serene. We especially enjoyed sitting by the window, watching the fishermen head out to sea. It’s also a perfect spot to catch the sunrise or take a refreshing dip in the sea. This lodge offers a perfect blend of hospitality, flavor, and natural beauty. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends!

This is the only recommended seafood place on Serenity Beach and it truly lives up to the name. - They serve only the catch of the day – nothing frozen – and everything tasted super fresh. We ordered Pepper Crabs, Mackerel, and Fish Fillet, all perfectly cooked and full of flavor. -The chefs know their craft, and I also recommend trying the fries, tea, and coffee. The owner, Shiva, is very pleasing and welcoming. Overall, a must-visit for authentic fresh seafood by the beach.

The location is absolutely stunning – right by the beach, with breathtaking views and the calming sound of waves as your backdrop. The food was a delight – simple yet flavorful, with each dish crafted to perfection. Every bite spoke of fresh ingredients and a love for authentic flavors. Our family couldn’t get enough of the delicious offerings, and even the kids were thrilled with the special attention given to their tastes! A big shoutout to Shiva, the manager, whose hospitality made our visit truly memorable. He was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. His personal touch and genuine care for every guest are commendable. The place’s minimalistic charm is ideal for families and kids. There's ample space for little ones to play, explore, and enjoy themselves, making it a perfect destination for a relaxed day out. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape with good food, great hospitality, and a family-friendly vibe, this is the place to be! Highly recommended
Shuchi G — Google review
We decided to visit this place after seeing the good reviews and high ratings, excited to try their seafood. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. We started with the crab lollipop, which tasted quite synthetic — a big chunk of deep-fried meat that didn’t really resemble crab in flavor or texture. Not sure if that’s how it’s meant to be, but it wasn’t enjoyable. Next, we tried the fried rice, which turned out to be more of a spicy masala rice — not the simple, flavorful fried rice we expected. The restaurant itself is quite small, and though it’s located near the water, there’s no real view since it’s on the ground level — just a line of boats docked in front. Overall, it was a bit of a letdown considering the reviews, and I probably wouldn’t go back.

This place was a complete disaster. 😤 The service was abysmal, and the manager seemed utterly incompetent. They had no regard for guests, and the rooms were substandard. 👎 I strongly advise against staying here; it's a truly terrible experience. 😠 Location isn't saving it either. 🚨

The food was tasty. Service was so horrible . Took literally 45 minutes to bring our food and was so disrespectful when we placing our order. We were a group of 12 people and asked them to join tables so we could all sit together. They didn't do that too. Inspite of the restaurant being empty. Would never go again.

Cafe
Artika Cafe Gallery is a charming venue located in an old French house on Rue Labourdonnais in Pondicherry. The cafe offers a casual menu and a relaxed seating area under the shade of trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere. In addition to showcasing quirky art and fashion, there's also a boutique on the premises for visitors to explore. The cafe provides quick and warm service, with options for light bites, juices, and coffee.
The real joy of having French cuisine in an atmosphere far from France yet designed to perfection is here. Pondicherry being a nestled city, quite small in it's length and breadth on the map, Artika Cafe Gallery is a cosy option for a wide spread Sunday brunch with family and friends. The options listed on the menu are so refreshing and healthy for the hunger pangs. We had been here on the Easter breakfast, placed the order as follows : MiniMe, Kombo breakfast, Artika's CoCo, Chicken cheese Croissant sandwich and two scrambled eggs. For me the show stealer were, Chicken cheese Croissant sandwich, where the croissant is so soft and melts into the mouth with first bite. Artika's CoCo is as refreshing as any other drink during summers. The quality and quantity was sufficient for 5 of us. I would highly recommend those visiting Pondi to pick it as your next destination for breakfast / brunch. Though the items seem a bit expensive but it would be reasonable to the other French breakfast outlets in the smart city. Felt so blessed and contented on this holy day.

Seems to have taken a dive of late, no photographic or other hung art apparent, the walls murals remain however. The place appears generally unkempt. At 10:45am some tables hadn't been relieved of tree leaf droppings and other debris. Side tables were visibly sticky and I didn't want to put my hat down on the one nearest to me. We had the Mini Mi breakfast of croissant (with butter and jam) juice (the default was watermelon but we requested and got orange juice) and coffee with or without hot milk (the sort that leaves a protective coffee milk skin on the surface of the drink. The croissants were really nice, warmed and authentic. The mystery jam was also nice, although we couldn't decide what fruit, if any, it was. The coffee was unremarkable. Service was cursory and on the edge of surly; we thought perhaps the chap had been trained in Paris for the authentic French experience. We were also watched, albeit from a distance, by the same chap seated on the verandah at right angles to us. At Rp220 each this respresented good value, it was very quiet, and leafy, but not really what was expected from some of the reviews which raved exceptionality.

Amazing garden, food, taste and service. 👍 This place offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with options of sandwiches, salads, pasta, breads, eggs, hot drinks, smoothies, fresh fruit juices, fruit salsa, lassis, sodas, crepe’s, muesli and desserts. New Farm Fresh is a popular spot known for its wood-fired pizzas, pasta, and fast food in a cozy and well-lit setting with wooden benches. The pizzeria offers a unique take on pizza, featuring thin crusts topped with cheese, black olives, bell peppers, and condiments for customization. With multiple outlets across the city, New Farm Fresh is beloved for its delicious pizzas, fresh sandwiches, and pasta.
They really have good pizza and most importantly the size of pizza that you would get in small size is perfect for two hungry stomachs. We didn't like much Cheese garlic bread because its cheese tastes different. We have ordered hibiscus soda and lemon ginger mint soda and they taste real good. Worth trying place.

Nice cozy pizzeria. Rustic ambience, delicious wood fired pizza, nice staff. The thin crust pesto chicken pizza was very good. Enjoy your time here while in Pondicherry. PS- the drink was a super disappointment. The lemonade was nothing but a very low quality nimbu pani. It was overpriced too.
Sandipan G — Google review
All the pizza variety was good to taste. Serving was fast. Pasta was not that tasty and I tried two of their varieties, white and red. Also I tried their Ice tea and it was awesome. I could not consume everything so the balance they packed for me. Street parking only. Easily locatable. Good ambience.
Hitesh A — Google review
I ate here both the days I had been in Pondicherry. Looved it! Pizza is hands down absolutely amazing here. I tried different Mojitos as well, but the star of the gluttony was their thin crust, wood fired, heavy on the toppings succulent pizza. This place is cute, cozy, tucked at the cross-section of two streets. There was seating arrangement for solo travellers like me, the thing I adored the most about this place. The boys are efficient at their best, humble; but for some unfathomable reasons, they are painfully understaffed. Actually at the week at the year-end, Pondicherry is buzzing with tourists, so this placd should have been prepared on that front, but they weren't, which baffled me. They were trying their best, but due to some reason, availability was an issue too. I didn't get to taste Chicken Lasagna both the days. The food alone doesn't make up what you are, the experience that customers take with them, make up what you are, just like this review, my fellow reveiwers' review is making one. So guys, your food is amazing, just manage yourselves well. Hoping for a flawless food experience the next time I visit Pondicherry.
Shraddha B — Google review
One of the best places to have authentic wood fired pizza in Pondicherry! The pizzas they have are really good with thin crust and nice lemonades to add. When I visited pre-covid they were at a different place. Now they have moved closer to the beach road and exactly opposite the Governor's office and Bharati Park. The location is prime, but the place became a bit congested. The place is small. When we visited now (Aug 2023) for lunch there was a power outage and their inverter was also down. Had a horrific experience, eating hot pizzas in the afternoon heat without even a fan!

The pizza here is to die for, quite likely the best pizza I've had so far. The service is super quick and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The place is quite ambient with very minimalistic decor. Would definitely recommend to people visiting Pondicherry. Looking forward to checking in again soon.

First of all we amazed with the ambiance. It gives a sure feel that we are not in Pondy. Tree side sit out restaurant and also a Air conditioned sit out. The ambiance itself will give me an heart full feel. The food is just an add on. But the taste of the food was so good. We tried mutton biryani, Keema mutter, chappati, french fries, fish and chips, salad choice of chef and hot and sour veg soup and all were so tasty. Especially the keema mutter was awesome. Finally we had curd rice that was a master piece. Dessert we were not so happy other than lime soda. Overall the experience was so good. Their rooms are also like fresh style houses which was so unique. Nice hotel to stay and nice restaurant to have food.

Ambience and service - 10/10. But food is okayish.. Highly disappointed with the creamy mushroom soup and creamy chicken soup. Because it wasn’t creamy enough. So watery. Starters were good. Main course needs some flavour. If you are someone who already went to an excellent Chinese and continental restaurants before, do not expect the similar taste and flavours here.

Great Seafood with a Stunning Sea View I recently dined at this restaurant and had a wonderful experience. They offer a great variety of seafood, and everything we tried was fresh and well-cooked. The flavors were spot on, and the portions were just right. The ambiance was another highlight—relaxed and inviting, with a beautiful sea view that added so much to the overall experience. Awesome ambience, located on the 4th floor, with decorative n dim lights with cool breeze. The staff were extremely friendly, was very accommodative and took best care. This place might not be the most visited or reviewed place in town but trust me this place serves dishes worth the price and they are delicious. They serve "massive juicy burgers" (juicy indeed) and freak shakes even during afternoon hours around 4-7 when the regular lunch and dinner options are not available. The ambiance is great and the service is good too. We ordered TOT classic burger and a freak shake. Both of them turned out to be amazing and it will easily serve two. Cost approximately 700Rs for two, however depends on your order. Ratings - 4.5/5 for food and ambiance. 3/5 for service

The hara Bharat kebab was not a kebab but a tikki and it was not good so needs to improve. Ambience was really good with right kind of music. The Goan curry could have been mild as the spice was slightly high.

Food Paradise is a highly popular restaurant in Pondicherry, serving traditional Indian fare with a twist. It offers Halal food, perfect for Muslims on vacation. The dishes are imaginative and always full of flavor.
I recommend this restaurant for a delicious dining experience with family. The food is outstanding, particularly the biryani, tandoori chicken, and grilled chicken. My personal favorite is the mushroom noodles - it's incredibly tasty, although slightly oily. overall this is a great place to visit. We'll definitely be back.

I recently visited Hotel Food Paradise in Pondicherry and found the experience to be a mixed bag. Starting with the positives, the food itself was good. The menu offered a decent variety of dishes, and the taste was satisfactory. While nothing stood out as exceptional, the food was flavorful and fresh, making it worth trying if you’re just in for a meal. However, the ambience left a lot to be desired. The decor felt outdated, and the overall atmosphere didn’t quite capture the inviting feel I expected. There was also a noticeable lack of cleanliness in certain areas, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. A cleaner, more organized environment would make a significant difference here. If you’re someone who prioritizes taste over ambience, this might still be a good spot for a quick meal, but it may not be ideal for those looking to dine in a more comfortable, welcoming setting.
Gladwin S — Google review
One of the worst food experiences I've ever had. As a Telugu person, I strongly advise others from our community not to visit this place. The behavior of the staff is extremely rude, and the food they serve is absolutely substandard—nowhere close to the quality they claim. What’s worse? The prices are as high as those in a star hotel or an authentic restaurant like Paradise, but the experience is nowhere near. If you come here, be ready to lose your temper. Completely disappointing and not worth a single rupee.

There is cooking area in 3rd floor, opposite to wash room, that cooking area looks black everywhere and smells very bad. Dining area is in first and second floors. Cockroaches everywhere, inside and outside the food being served. See dead cockroach in the chicken fried rice served in my plate and watch video of cockroach running in the dining table

This place tested my patience. Food was not just bad—it was inedible. And the staff didn’t even bother to listen when I raised a complaint. They charge like a luxury place but offer nothing close. Telugu community—do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Today we tried few dishes.. 1. Chicken briyanai - good taste 2. Kadai briyani - good tatse 3. Tandoori full - very dry taste ok 4. Vanjaram fry - not upto mark 5. Fish finger - over fried 6. Juice grape and lemon - taste good.

Completely disappointed with this place. The food was cold, stale, and tasteless. The staff didn’t care at all about service. And they charge like they’re serving in Paradise or some 5-star hotel! Don’t waste your money or your mood here.

TAKA PIZZA is a pizzeria serving up delicious wood-fired pizzas at affordable prices. Their regular pizza is big enough to feed two and their toppings are some of the best in town. If you're touring around Pondy, TAKA PIZZA is a must-visit pizzeria!
Really good spot for pizza lovers. We tried infinity and beyond veg pizza and chilli cheese bread. Worth it.

Had an amazing experience at Taka Pizza, Pondicherry! 🍕 The pizzas were absolutely delicious, but the BBQ Chicken Pizza truly stole the show — perfectly smoky, tender chicken, and just the right balance of sauce and cheese. Easily one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend this place for all pizza lovers! 👌🔥

Taka Pizza is hands down one of my favorite pizza joints! I’ve been here several times and not once have I been disappointed. Honestly, I’ve even come to Pondy just for Taka Pizza. Sure, there are plenty of pizza spots around, but this one’s always my top pick - thin crust, wood-fired, and simply wow!

They have a rooftop seating area that is perfect for any occasion, and their menu has options to suit any taste. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner for two or an evening out with friends, Sky Garden is the perfect choice.
Sky Garden is truly one of the best dining experiences in Pondicherry. The ambiance is elegant with a beautiful rooftop vibe, perfect for both casual evenings and special occasions. The food was outstanding – every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The staff was warm, attentive, and made sure we had a great time without being intrusive. A perfect blend of great food, amazing atmosphere, and excellent service. Highly recommend!

I recently visited this bar and restaurant, and it turned out to be a great spot for a night out with friends. The atmosphere is perfect for hanging out and enjoying drinks, with a wide variety of cocktail options to choose from. Whether you’re into classic cocktails or more creative mixes, there’s something for everyone. However, the food menu could use some expansion. While the available options are decent, adding more variety would definitely enhance the overall experience, especially for those looking to pair their drinks with something tasty. That being said, the service was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Overall, it’s a solid choice for drinks and a good time, but they could improve on the food selection to make it a well-rounded experience.

I recently visited Kamatchi Restaurant in Pondicherry and ordered Chicken 65 Biryani for takeaway. The order was ready within 10 minutes and came with onion raita and kurma. The taste was good, but I found it a bit too salty — it would have been better if the salt was balanced. Overall, it's a decent restaurant with quick service.
Gayathri J — Google review
We went there on a Friday Afternoon, all the way from Bangalore for a planned family lunch but were very much disappointed about the availability of food items. The famous Fish Kamatchi, Prawn Kamatchi, Fish Platter and many more items were not available and the reason was "Aadi Friday" ! The Mutton Biriyani was tasty but the Mutton Satti Soru was a big let down. The fish fingers was tasteless too without any salt and spices. Chicken lollipop was good indeed. The Floor incharge told us to visit in the evening to taste more varieties but unfortunately there was no time for us for a second visit. Overall, the service was good, ambience needs improvement and visitors should not return disappointed because of very limited preparations!!

Sree Andhra Tiffins, located in the heart of Pondicherry, is a must-visit for vegetarians craving authentic South Indian thali meals.
Come here to relish authentic & traditional Andhra Meals (Thali). It was my first time that I tried out Paruppupodi & Ghee Rice and I was blown away by the fusion of flavours. The Paruppupodi Powder made from Spices and Dal was surprisingly delicious. They also serve vegetable fries, sambhar, papad and other delectable side-dishes. For just ₹120, with unlimited serving, I would say this is the most healthy & wholesome dining option, if you are searching for pure vegetarian cuisine in Pondicherry. Also, Pan is available from the payment counter for ₹13 per piece. Highly recommended.🩵

One of the oldest Andhra type restaurants in Puducherry. There are different varieties of food items available and food is served till 10 PM. The food tastes authentic andhra spicy 🔥 and the quality of food is good and they are served hot. The menu has daily specials. Special pickles are also sold here. Limited road 🛣️ side parking 🅿️ facilities only available. The place can accommodate 25 pax at a stretch, since they run in a old house type restaurant. The meal cost has been revised from 01.03.25 at ₹130, parcel charges extra ₹40. DoV: 07032025.

An excellent place for budget friendly customers looking for yummy Andhra meals in Pondicherry. The owners are from Andhra and are in business from last 20+ years and they personally look into the cooking and service part. All their serving staff are super enthusiastic and keep checking your tables to refill the food items. They also have other items in breakfast and juices as well. A veg meals per person costs about INR 130/- if you dine in and it will cost INR 170/- if you want take away. Their usp is Parupupodi (Gunpowder) served with ghee in hot rice. They also sell this podi in packets of customers want to buy their famous podi which is about 110/- per packet. Parking is in front of the restaurant on the street, so finding space can be difficult as it a complete market area. So if anyone wants or craving for Andhra style food in Pondy this is the place. Will definitely recommend.

Andhra Restaurant: Located on Ambalathadayar Madam St, beside Lakshmi Jewellers, Heritage Town, - Authentic Andhra cuisine - Budget-friendly (veg meal ₹130 dine-in, ₹170 takeaway) - Excellent service - Parupupodi (Gunpowder) with ghee is a USP - Unlimited servings - Limited parking (street parking only) - No card/UPI payment options (cash only) Note - juices served are nice, but costly. Compared to meals. A must-visit for Andhra cuisine lovers and vegetarians. Try their veg thali and Parupupodi. Delicious and affordable.

They never failed to satisfy our taste Bud foods are awesome and Suttle especially for dinner service.was bad but worth to wait price is also reasonable try it. A must visit for vegetarians cravings for South Indian typical thali meal. Just, go for it! They serves the Andra style veg cuisine. I went for my lunch. I had veg thali @₹110/ person with unlimited fillings and servings. They serve in banana leaf with rice, podi powder, ghee, sambar, daal, kadi, mixed veg (veg poriyal), kabuli chana, mint rice, papad and for dessert served sabudana & siwae kheer (Payasam). (Varieties of dishes) Service was quite nice. The staffs are good and they also know Hindi. Prices are economic and affordable. For payment they accepts cash and we have to take coupons for meals. The meal was quite satisfying and the taste of every dishes were good. All dinner options tasted good. You can experience all adai here. Chutney's are yum. Chappathi was soft like home made. Very poor and unhygienic food. Over priced. Poor service. The staff behaves as though they are doing you a favour. We ordered "Chef's Special Veg Salad" from the "Christmas and New Year Special Menu". To my utter shock, they just served a quarter plate filled with sliced raw tomato, onion, cucumber and chilly. We then called for the manager and chef. They told me that this is the dish and we have to put up with it. I asked them, what is the special thing that the chef did on it? They said - Just too bad and this what they have. Upset with what was served, we ordered Peri Peri Paneer Tikka. They just served a half cooked paneer slices. The masala marinade was raw and the dish was not even hot. When we complained about it, they just took it to the kitchen, microwaved it a little and got it back. Same thing. No change. Extremely rude and pathetic service. They are essentially defrauding gullible customers.

Its location is plus point, nice sea view. Drinks, service also managable. But food they served is bad, crispy corn and coriander chiccken taste very bad, peanut masala papad was good..please imrove food quality to satisfy your customers.
Zindagi — Google review
Honestly, not a great experience. The ambience felt very ordinary, more like a local bar than a proper lounge. For the kind of vibe they give, the prices are way too high. Compared to places like Hook Lounge, this spot doesn’t justify the cost at all. Wouldn’t really recommend unless you’re out of options.

Bad food. The ambience of the roof top bar is quiet nice. But it was so dull, the staff seemed so lazy. And the food is the worst we tasted around Pondicherry. We ordered Jamaican chicken fry and it was very greasy could taste the weird oily sour in every bite we took, I believe the chicken was fried in the same oil. The food is very very bad. Never suggesting this place for friends for drinks and food.

This is one such place right in front of the beach so needs to put in effort to get those seats which are towards the beach. Drinks are great with good food but the place closes early like around 10:30 so that’s a bill sad. Otherwise it’s good. Good to sip a few drinks to the sounds of crashing waves

The sea view from the gallery was excellent overlooking The promenade. Though the food was ok most of the dishes we wanted were not available. The prices were good for the food and drinks. There were some groups of men openly smoking and shouting at each other which definitely turned down the nice ambience.

If you are searching for a pub near the beach then this is your place to go. They have 3 pubs in the same building. The ground floor pub has good seating and songs, it’s worth it if you go to the roof top, there is a smokers zone and also they have good music to which you can dance. I had such a great time tonight! The cocktails were amazing — the Cosmo especially stole my heart ❤️🍸. The service by Deena was warm and attentive, making my birthday evening extra memorable. Thank you for such a wonderful experience 🥂😊.

The cocktail fell short due to imprecise measurements by the bartender. Although they provided complimentary drinks, our additional orders from the menu mirrored the free ones, making it less worthwhile. The food was average, and while the bar boasts a prime location, I find it challenging to offer other noteworthy recommendations. A positive note is the friendly and welcoming staff, but an improvement in the bar's professionalism would enhance the overall experience.

Yesterday night was served well in the bar here after ordering Tandoori and Naan with beers. As we ordered Naan without sambar the waitress suggested we order it to go with the Naan and we dutifully agreed and ordered.. we did not even asked the waitress by the name of Albina, served us and separately filled up both my friend’s and my bowl with sambar from the large bowl of sambar for us to enjoy our Naan. For the short time we had our dinner and drinks she came and checked with us on how we are and also the food. Food was above average and we enjoyed it. Had a great time there eventhough short. Thank you for waitering us.

I visited this pub yesterday but the costs are too high. They charge 18% gst and 5% for service. But they didn’t serve anything, we took it on our own to the plate. Simply money waste and they also made us wait for 1hour to serve the dish. Its utterly waste to go there as Pizza is worst but Kebab platter is fine. Best option I saw in Pondicherry is Chitras pub and kitchen also called as Chitras cuisine where its reasonable price and affordable. They are charging only 5% GST and no service charge.

Zuka Chocolate Cafe in Pondicherry is a must-visit for chocolate lovers. Known for its delectable chocolates, pastries, and sandwiches, it offers a wide range of tempting treats. The Belgian hot chocolate with a cute chocolate spoon and chips is highly recommended. Additionally, they serve pastries, tarts, gelato, and sandwiches. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality justifies it.
Zuka is not just a café — it’s an emotion, especially if you’ve been to Puducherry more than once. It’s one of those places that keeps calling you back. For me, it’s my absolute favourite spot in the entire city. We’ve tried almost everything on their menu over multiple visits — from desserts to chocolates to beverages — and nothing has ever disappointed. The presentation is always top-notch, and the flavours are rich and satisfying. Whether you’re a chocolate lover or just someone looking for a calm, cosy place to sit and enjoy something special, Zuka has you covered. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. It’s perfect for a casual date, a quick treat, or just spending time by yourself with something sweet. Honestly, it’s hard to put into words what makes this place special — it just has that something extra that stays with you long after the visit. If you’re in Puducherry, don’t miss it. It’s more than just a café — it’s an experience you’ll remember.

Zuka chocolate cafe is located on the Goubert Avenue in White Town in Pondicherry near the Promenade. It lies close to the Mahatma Gandhi’s Statue overlooking the sea. It’s a small cafe with just 2-3 tables. We had hot coffee here, which they serve in use & throw paper glasses, while roaming around the promenade, during a visit to Pondicherry. The Staff was well behaved, polite and the service was quick. It is a popular spot on the promenade. Though not a must palce to visit, but if you happen to be around the corner, you may try it. They have a tag line which says’Seven Days Without Chocolate Makes One Weak’. The cafe also makes Tailored-Made Cakes.

No dishes to order, because only buffet dinner is available. Spoilt our whole evening plan. DON'T VISIT THIS AWFUL PLACE, ESPECIALLY ON WEEKENDS.
Ramesh K — Google review
The price is a little high when compared to the taste of food. Worst briyani.
Labin T — Google review
